- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host team, Alex Derek.
- 0:06Speaker 2: All Right, well, it's been a minute because of scheduling
- 0:09Speaker 2: stuff and whatnot, but I'm so excited to have Terminello's
- 0:12Speaker 2: take back on this week. Lou Always love having you man.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Alex, good to be back. Always love talking to you.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We got a lot to talk about today. I don't
- 0:21Speaker 1: know where you want to start, but we can go
- 0:24Speaker 1: over the end of the World Series first. I think
- 0:28Speaker 1: that might be a good place to start, but it's
- 0:30Speaker 1: up to you.
- 0:31Speaker 2: About the fact that almost every team in a six
- 0:33Speaker 2: month cycle has given New York hope and then it's
- 0:36Speaker 2: just crashed and burned. I mean, earlier in the year
- 0:40Speaker 2: we had the Knicks should have beat the Pacers if
- 0:42Speaker 2: they were healthy. Then you have the Rangers lose to
- 0:44Speaker 2: a very hot Panthers team, and now you have the Yankees,
- 0:48Speaker 2: who I think defeated themselves on the field. I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 2: there's no doubt the Dodgers are prepared for that implosion,
- 0:55Speaker 2: but the implosion even happening is the most concerning part,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and it should be for all Yankee fans. I don't
- 1:00Speaker 2: care how many notes the Dodgers took. The Yanks didn
- 1:03Speaker 2: this themselves at least in Game five, adding Game one somewhat.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Argue, Alex, I'm not going to disagree with you. Let's
- 1:11Speaker 1: look at look let's look at Game one. I think
- 1:14Speaker 1: it's one of the worst managed games in World Series history.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And not only not only with putting a pitcher in
- 1:26Speaker 1: Nesta Cortez who hadn't pitched in thirty seven days, when
- 1:29Speaker 1: you had another left hander in the bullpen in Hill,
- 1:33Speaker 1: but you know, also why would you have taken out
- 1:36Speaker 1: a cole after eighty eight pitches. He was only going
- 1:39Speaker 1: to pitch one more time, so it's not like you
- 1:43Speaker 1: had to save him for five more starts. That was
- 1:47Speaker 1: a game the Yankees could have won and could have
- 1:49Speaker 1: turned this series around, but they obviously didn't, and bringing
- 1:58Speaker 1: Cortes is one of the all time worst moves in
- 2:00Speaker 1: recent postseason, in postseason history in my opinion. Then you know,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you get to you get to Game five, and the
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yankees didn't hit. The Dodgers didn't hit either, with the
- 2:15Speaker 1: exception of Freddy Freeman, the World Series Most valuable Player,
- 2:19Speaker 1: But you get the game to.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Know, and to your point of not hitting, I mean,
- 2:22Speaker 2: the Yanks could have blamed all that on Nester's armor,
- 2:26Speaker 2: even the glabor Era, which just that was a rough
- 2:28Speaker 2: play with a tiny going to third, but they left
- 2:31Speaker 2: eleven guys on base, including in the top of the
- 2:34Speaker 2: ninth when Judge himself stranded. And that series was very tough.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And I get it's his first World Series. Maybe there's nerves,
- 2:41Speaker 2: but I was expecting a lot more out of him.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Not gonna lie.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Well, he had been having a very good postseason up
- 2:47Speaker 1: until that point. But each postseason series is different than
- 2:51Speaker 1: the previous because the pressure builds. And usually even in
- 2:56Speaker 1: a one postseason, the series within that post season one
- 3:01Speaker 1: player in one series in the ALCS or the NLCS,
- 3:04Speaker 1: a player might back three seventy five and then the
- 3:06Speaker 1: World Series about one fifty. But the Yank I mean, Alex,
- 3:11Speaker 1: we talked about the last two years. The Yankee attention
- 3:14Speaker 1: to detail is poor. You know that, Like you said, oh,
- 3:18Speaker 1: tany getting to third, you know, bomb the eighth inning
- 3:20Speaker 1: in that first game, which led to the sacrifice flight.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I tie that too too, when they eventually lost in ten.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You know that, Uh, that's on the Yankees. I mean
- 3:32Speaker 1: that really is. For some reason, they've run themselves out
- 3:37Speaker 1: of innings, They've thrown to the wrong base, and it
- 3:41Speaker 1: was all highlighted what happened in the top of the
- 3:44Speaker 1: fifth inning in the clinching game for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The Yankees were a head five nothing, I act, and
- 3:51Speaker 1: Cole through four innings was outstanding. Then he gave up
- 3:57Speaker 1: that you know, at first base, hitting the top of
- 3:58Speaker 1: the top of the of fifth. Then they had the
- 4:03Speaker 1: back to back errors, the inspicable in despicable drop by
- 4:09Speaker 1: judge and the ground ball of deep short were vope.
- 4:13Speaker 1: He made the right decision, he just didn't executed and
- 4:18Speaker 1: he threw it in the dirt to third, so the
- 4:22Speaker 1: base is all nobody out. He strikes out the next
- 4:25Speaker 1: two batters, okay, one of them Otani, and he made
- 4:29Speaker 1: Otani look bad in that back So he has a
- 4:31Speaker 1: chance to get at the inning five nothing and uh,
- 4:35Speaker 1: he makes a very good pitch to Mookie Betts, who
- 4:38Speaker 1: grounds the ball to first base, an easy played for Rizzo.
- 4:44Speaker 1: He didn't run to first base because I think he
- 4:48Speaker 1: thought that Cole was going to be there. I don't know.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Bets might have beaten Rizzo out anyway, which he did,
- 4:57Speaker 1: but Cole, I don't know. With the brain lock that
- 5:00Speaker 1: Cole had he could have got ad inning with all
- 5:04Speaker 1: the Yankee miscues. Miss, the Yankees weren't losing that game.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Boom boom boom, you know the uh.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You know, boom boom boom. All right, so you don't
- 5:19Speaker 2: step on them first, you don't cover the bag. I
- 5:22Speaker 2: do think that inning could have been prevented, though that
- 5:25Speaker 2: doesn't excuse the fact that five runs were scored. I mean,
- 5:28Speaker 2: where was mister boom boom boom. That's what I want
- 5:30Speaker 2: to ask you, Lou. He needs someone to go out
- 5:33Speaker 2: there to stop the momentum, right.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Correct, Alex it was a twenty one. He should have
- 5:42Speaker 1: come out, even though calls a veteran pitcher. You had
- 5:44Speaker 1: to come out and settle them down and all just
- 5:47Speaker 1: break the Dodger's momentum. It's like a time out in
- 5:49Speaker 1: basketball when the team is on a run. And uh
- 5:55Speaker 1: that was that was head scratching that Boom didn't come out.
- 5:59Speaker 1: The thing is by failing to cover first base. Cole
- 6:05Speaker 1: was at fifty four pitches with that pitch. Since they
- 6:09Speaker 1: didn't get the third out, which they should have, it
- 6:11Speaker 1: should have been an easy third out and he would
- 6:12Speaker 1: have gotten out five nothing. He threw an additional twenty
- 6:15Speaker 1: six pitches that in with Freddie Freeman singling to make
- 6:19Speaker 1: it five to three, and then ti Oscar Hernandez hitting
- 6:23Speaker 1: that double to left center field, tiring at five to five.
- 6:28Speaker 1: The Yankees did take the lead six to five in
- 6:29Speaker 1: the bottom in the six but again, you go to
- 6:32Speaker 1: your bullpen every night, They're not going to be at
- 6:35Speaker 1: the top of their game every night. And that's new baseball.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You know, guys don't pitch into the eighth inning anymore.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We start the game, and it ended up. It ended
- 6:44Speaker 1: up with the Yankees losing seven.
- 6:46Speaker 2: But I want to I want to push back a
- 6:48Speaker 2: little bit because I still think Luke Weaver did a
- 6:50Speaker 2: hell of a job for what he was saddled with
- 6:52Speaker 2: there in the eighth inning. I mean, he just got
- 6:54Speaker 2: the top guys to fly out. He has we're a sacrifice,
- 6:57Speaker 2: but the Yanks are still in it at seven and six.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He did not too bad in my eyes.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know, I agree with you, and the Yankees have
- 7:05Speaker 1: already picked up his option for next year, which was
- 7:09Speaker 1: a smart thing. He doesn't make a lot of money.
- 7:13Speaker 1: He makes like two point five million, and he you know,
- 7:16Speaker 1: he saved the Yankees Bacon and he's down the stretching
- 7:20Speaker 1: in the playoffs. There's no doubt about it.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Now, I said to you, maybe stupidly off air, I said, look,
- 7:25Speaker 2: I think Boone's going to still out manage Roberts. But
- 7:27Speaker 2: at the end of the day, Roberts bringing in his
- 7:30Speaker 2: bullpen the way he did and locked in the rest
- 7:32Speaker 2: of that game on Game five also should be noted.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I mean that bullpen only allowed what one run the
- 7:38Speaker 2: rest of the way, right, And.
- 7:40Speaker 1: He knows what he was doing because when they when
- 7:43Speaker 1: they brought in Walker Bueller on one day's rest, the
- 7:45Speaker 1: pitch of ninth inning coming off, you know, arm surgery.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Basically the last two years he's missed probably seventy percent
- 7:54Speaker 1: of the action, and Walker Bueller was I mean, he
- 7:59Speaker 1: was lights out in the bomb of ninth inning. Getting
- 8:02Speaker 1: back to manager Davey Roberts, Dave Roberts, that was I
- 8:07Speaker 1: think the best managerial job he did was in these
- 8:11Speaker 1: postseason playoffs. He did he did. Hey, sometimes you get lucky, Alex.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Every button you pushes the right one. Sometimes you can
- 8:19Speaker 1: you can strategize that way. But I think it was
- 8:21Speaker 1: his finest moment as a major league manager. In the
- 8:24Speaker 1: nine years he's been the manager of the Dodgers, and
- 8:27Speaker 1: for all those people thought that he might get let
- 8:29Speaker 1: go if the Dodgers had the postseason failure. Now the
- 8:33Speaker 1: Dodgers don't let him go because he would be hired
- 8:36Speaker 1: in ten minutes if they let him go by another team.
- 8:39Speaker 1: He did a great job.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna admit here, I don't think I should
- 8:42Speaker 2: have said this before the series started, but as you know,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and I've set the time and time again, I've always
- 8:47Speaker 2: wanted to see the Dodgers win in a one hundred
- 8:49Speaker 2: six game series, and because it was a sixty games slate,
- 8:53Speaker 2: I just didn't want to be this year.
- 8:54Speaker 1: This year.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I didn't want that.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But here we go.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I guess we got the I'll think get back and
- 8:58Speaker 2: now we can focus on the angles and five.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Now. You know.
- 9:01Speaker 2: The cool thing about next year is a couple of
- 9:03Speaker 2: anniversaries are coming up for the Yankees. Twenty five years
- 9:07Speaker 2: since the Subway Series, which I still can't believe. And
- 9:10Speaker 2: then it's also twenty five years since me and George Sandbernon.
- 9:14Speaker 2: What a perfect anniversary gift. Really, that's a.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Perfect anniversary gift for you. But you said twenty five
- 9:20Speaker 1: years since the Subway series, and obviously I remember it well.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I was at the three games at at Shay. And
- 9:28Speaker 1: let me tell you one thing, Alex, if there was
- 9:30Speaker 1: a Subway series this year, I think the Mets would
- 9:33Speaker 1: have beaten them. As I said, the American League was weak.
- 9:38Speaker 1: The Yankees played two fraudulent teams in Kansas City and Cleveland,
- 9:44Speaker 1: who would not have made the playoffs in the National League.
- 9:47Speaker 1: The Arizona Diamondbacks, between the seventh in the National League
- 9:50Speaker 1: and lost on a tie breaker, were better or as good,
- 9:54Speaker 1: or if not better than any of those teams, and
- 9:56Speaker 1: I think that might have hurt the Yankees, the lack
- 9:58Speaker 1: of competition. Let's face it, even against Kansas City and Cleveland,
- 10:04Speaker 1: it was a life and debt struggle for the Yankees.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So like we said before the postseason, it was an
- 10:11Speaker 1: easy path for the Yankees to get to the World Series.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And I don't know again the Astros were running on fumes,
- 10:18Speaker 1: lost too straight to a Detroit team. Even running on fumes,
- 10:22Speaker 1: they should have beaten. But I don't know if the
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yankees could have beaten the Astros even if the Astros
- 10:28Speaker 1: were on their last leg as they seemed to be
- 10:30Speaker 1: this year, because they would have been their head. And
- 10:34Speaker 1: plus the fact that the Atros that still have a
- 10:36Speaker 1: pretty good pitching staff.
- 10:37Speaker 2: They saw by the way from from from years ago,
- 10:40Speaker 2: they still had that core with them.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I gotta say Louis and the Astros ousting even the
- 10:46Speaker 2: Orioles a bit surprising. But one last thing. I thought
- 10:51Speaker 2: the main concern would be the base running errors against
- 10:54Speaker 2: the Royals and the Indie and the Guardians that were
- 10:57Speaker 2: going to cost the Yanks for tell the defense to
- 11:02Speaker 2: be a real downfall. So is this a managerial lack
- 11:06Speaker 2: of preparation for this series?
- 11:08Speaker 1: Is that what that is? No? I just think, let's
- 11:10Speaker 1: face it, Juan Sota was probably the best hitter in
- 11:14Speaker 1: baseball when it comes to uh the all around art
- 11:17Speaker 1: of hitting. His incredible batters discipline, he has an incredible
- 11:22Speaker 1: eye for the strike zone, and for all his offensive abilities,
- 11:27Speaker 1: he's an average right fielder. I don't know if that's
- 11:29Speaker 1: on that's not on the manager. I mean, for Duco's
- 11:35Speaker 1: a decent left fielder. As we know. Volpi won the
- 11:38Speaker 1: Gold Glove last year as a rookie. I know he
- 11:41Speaker 1: wanted to be through analytics. I was shocked that he won.
- 11:44Speaker 1: He wanted he but he's an up and coming player
- 11:47Speaker 1: for the Yankees still, even as he approaches his thirt
- 11:49Speaker 1: year next year, he's a keeper. It's not it's not
- 11:53Speaker 1: on Boon. And obviously the Yankees aren't going to get
- 11:56Speaker 1: rid of Boone. They already I think officially or unofficially
- 12:00Speaker 1: have have exercise the option for next year. But he
- 12:05Speaker 1: fits into what the Yankees wanting to do. The Yankees
- 12:07Speaker 1: are an analytic team. He's an analytic manager. And the
- 12:11Speaker 1: only thing is, I guess they really like him because
- 12:17Speaker 1: they had a guy sitting next to him the last
- 12:18Speaker 1: four years and Carlos Mendoza, and I guess they didn't
- 12:22Speaker 1: like Carlos Mendoza enough to make a change. And Boone
- 12:27Speaker 1: might just be a little bit too loyal to the players.
- 12:30Speaker 1: He'd you know, there's a good that you know, they
- 12:32Speaker 1: always say the players manager. He might be a little
- 12:34Speaker 1: bit too much of a player's manager. But he's not going.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Anywhere, No, he's not. I just don't know. In the
- 12:43Speaker 2: seven years culmination as he started, I mean, I just
- 12:48Speaker 2: feel like there has to be a culture change somehow,
- 12:52Speaker 2: some way, and maybe maybe Boone don't bring that, but
- 12:55Speaker 2: I don't I don't know I just something that's got
- 12:58Speaker 2: to be more shaped up with this team. That's how
- 13:00Speaker 2: I feel about it.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Company Well, Alex as somebody who's watched the Yankees for
- 13:05Speaker 1: as many years as you have, and even myself, you're
- 13:08Speaker 1: a fan. I am not a Yankee fan, but I'm
- 13:10Speaker 1: a bit I love baseball and baseball observer of all teams. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 1: the Yankees have to bumton up. They can't just think
- 13:18Speaker 1: they can bludgeon teams to death. The base running and
- 13:22Speaker 1: defensive and mistakes that they were able that they did
- 13:25Speaker 1: against the Royals and the Indians they were able to
- 13:28Speaker 1: get away with. But you can't make those mistakes against
- 13:31Speaker 1: the team like the Dodgers. They would have been able
- 13:33Speaker 1: to make those mistakes against a team like this Padres
- 13:36Speaker 1: or the Phillies or I don't even think the Mets.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And remember, if there was a Subway series, the guy
- 13:41Speaker 1: who was sitting next to Aaron Boone for the last
- 13:43Speaker 1: four years was Carlos Mendoza. He would know all of
- 13:47Speaker 1: of Aaron Boone's tendency tendencies. So we'll see what happens.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You know, again, the Yankees are still going to be
- 13:58Speaker 1: one of the teams to be next year. But they
- 14:00Speaker 1: just have to learn how to produce more runs. Then
- 14:03Speaker 1: just wait for Stanton to hit the ball out of
- 14:06Speaker 1: the uh, you know, out in the left center field
- 14:08Speaker 1: five hundred feet. The same thing with Judge, who had
- 14:12Speaker 1: another bad postseason. And now that's gonna be that's judging it.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Sixty five home runs next year, but that I'm not
- 14:21Speaker 1: saying it doesn't matter. But if he craps out in
- 14:25Speaker 1: the playoffs again, that's what's gonna matter. That's what he's
- 14:29Speaker 1: gonna that's what his hat's gonna be hung on. So
- 14:33Speaker 1: you know, uh, we'll see. Now the real question is
- 14:37Speaker 1: Alex Garret, I'm gonna ask you this, So Garrett Cole,
- 14:42Speaker 1: he opts out his contract, which a lot of baseball experts,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, you know, the baseball experts said that they
- 14:50Speaker 1: weren't gonna do. He wasn't gonna do, he wasn't gonna
- 14:54Speaker 1: opt out. Well he did, he did. I think that, Alex.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I think they're gonna give him the thirty six million,
- 14:59Speaker 1: that fifty year. Yeah, I mean he'll take him to
- 15:02Speaker 1: thirty nine. Yes, he had that nerve, that nerve injury
- 15:07Speaker 1: that kept him out you know, ten weeks early on
- 15:11Speaker 1: this year but you always take a gamble with a pitcher.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So he'll be thirty nine when this deal is over.
- 15:17Speaker 1: But I would be surprised if the Yankees don't opt
- 15:20Speaker 1: back in. They've already opted out of Rizzo.
- 15:24Speaker 2: They will opt in. But I don't know if he's
- 15:26Speaker 2: gonna take it. That's my point. I'm not sure what
- 15:28Speaker 2: he's gonna want.
- 15:29Speaker 1: So I think if the Yankees out back in, I
- 15:33Speaker 1: think he's bound. He's bound. If the Yankees the Yankees
- 15:37Speaker 1: getting the fifty or thirty six million he had, he
- 15:41Speaker 1: has no no freedom to talk to another team. But
- 15:48Speaker 1: you know, and then of course the big thing is
- 15:50Speaker 1: is Sodo, and you know you'll look at on Sodo. Okay,
- 15:56Speaker 1: so he's going to get six hundred, seven hundred million
- 16:03Speaker 1: dollars for twelve years. Say, okay, everybody says, well the
- 16:07Speaker 1: metsal sign of the Yankees, don't Alice, I'm not so sure.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I'm not so sure.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Well, you made an interesting comparison to his postgame press
- 16:14Speaker 2: conference after the World Series ended, and Garrett Coles, and
- 16:18Speaker 2: I was pretty ticked off at how open he was.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And he's looking at all thirty teams. Your team just
- 16:23Speaker 2: lost the World Series and you're focusing on you instead
- 16:26Speaker 2: of trying to just say, hey, I'm here for my team.
- 16:30Speaker 2: It felt very self aggrandizing, and I was a little
- 16:33Speaker 2: disappointed to say the least, Alex, you're one.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Hundred percent correct. You're one hundred percent correct on that.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And it reminded me of when Cole after the Astros
- 16:47Speaker 1: lost Game seven to the Nationals back in nineteen, when
- 16:52Speaker 1: I forgot what was Ken Rosenstoel or one of the
- 16:55Speaker 1: guys on Fox asked him about his upcoming free agency
- 16:57Speaker 1: or something, said I'm no longer employed. Oh about the game?
- 17:00Speaker 1: About Game seven, I'm going I'm no longer employee of
- 17:03Speaker 1: the Houston Astros. Basically, he hadn't even taken a shower yet.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You know that made him look bad. But what Soto
- 17:09Speaker 1: should have said in the locker room, he just said, hey,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I want to absorb. I had an enjoyable a twenty
- 17:19Speaker 1: twenty four season. I went to my second World Series.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I was part of the Yankees' forty first pennant. And remember, Alex,
- 17:27Speaker 1: the Yankee season was still it was a success, it
- 17:31Speaker 1: wasn't a failure. But he handled it wrong because then
- 17:35Speaker 1: they started asking questions about teams. How about the Mets?
- 17:38Speaker 1: How you know? And then instead of cutting it off,
- 17:42Speaker 1: he kept feeding into it and that was a bad
- 17:45Speaker 1: That was a bad look for Soda.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I actually got the ALCS championship shirp because I loved
- 17:50Speaker 2: this roster so much. I mean, this was a Winnabowl roster.
- 17:53Speaker 2: It was a Gelling roster for the most part. And
- 17:56Speaker 2: h yeah, Anthony rizzowon and of course meeting Rizzo this
- 17:58Speaker 2: year was so special. And then just I don't know,
- 18:02Speaker 2: this felt like a team that was connected to the fans,
- 18:05Speaker 2: unlike any other team over the years. It just seemed
- 18:08Speaker 2: like there was a geling there with everybody in the
- 18:10Speaker 2: quote unquote Repbex community.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I like this roster. I'm just gonna say that. Yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 1: well it's it's Alex. It's a roster that came within
- 18:17Speaker 1: three games of winning the World Series. So, like I said,
- 18:20Speaker 1: they had a successful season, no doubt about it. I'm
- 18:24Speaker 1: not again, I'm not so sure of what's gonna happen
- 18:27Speaker 1: with Sodo. H Will the Mets be in it? Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I assume they will be. But you know, when you
- 18:34Speaker 1: have a Scott Borrows as your agent, you never know
- 18:38Speaker 1: where he might end up Soda that.
- 18:41Speaker 2: That is, but you know, he could be one of
- 18:44Speaker 2: those guys that doesn't want to hold out either. I
- 18:45Speaker 2: mean he had Boris had a couple of guys holding out.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I like SODA's gonna get a deal done faster than
- 18:51Speaker 2: some of his other claims.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yes, I would agree. So, I mean Bryce Harper went
- 18:55Speaker 1: into the first couple of weeks of training camp before
- 18:58Speaker 1: he signed with the Fields. I think it's gonna it
- 19:01Speaker 1: could be earlier than that. I would assume it's going
- 19:04Speaker 1: to be I would say, hopefully by the middle of January.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But he's not. You know, there was a there was
- 19:13Speaker 1: an ex post out the other night, and I'm so
- 19:15Speaker 1: glad I'll have an x account saying that the Mets
- 19:17Speaker 1: had offered him five hundred and fifty five million the
- 19:20Speaker 1: year for twelve years and that John Hayman reported it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: But that was fake news. But you know, with Borrows,
- 19:27Speaker 1: you never know what's going to happen. Uh, look what
- 19:31Speaker 1: he did with Rodriguez. Because Alex Rodriguez back back in
- 19:36Speaker 1: what was it two thousand and one, I guess or
- 19:39Speaker 1: two thousand and two, He's signed up to Texas Rangers.
- 19:43Speaker 1: You know why the range were in contender, but because
- 19:46Speaker 1: the Rangers paying the most money, and Scott Borrow's clients
- 19:49Speaker 1: always go where the most money is even if the
- 19:53Speaker 1: difference is not great, so they could be a dark horse.
- 19:57Speaker 1: We talked. I would say, if you want to say
- 19:59Speaker 1: about a dark horse coming out of nowhere, I would
- 20:01Speaker 1: say the San Francisco Giants.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Well, I think we're going to see a similar thing
- 20:05Speaker 2: with Judge where Sodo flirt to another team, get something,
- 20:09Speaker 2: to do something, and the Yankees will be with the match.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I just see that happening too.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Okay, but then you're gonna have Cole at thirty six
- 20:15Speaker 1: million because the Yankees are gonna I believe the Yankees
- 20:17Speaker 1: will give him that fifth year. You're gonna have Judge
- 20:20Speaker 1: at forty million. That's that's say seventy six million, and
- 20:25Speaker 1: then Soda at seventy million. How could I mean, even
- 20:30Speaker 1: the Yankees have to have a ceiling on how much
- 20:33Speaker 1: you're gonna spend on the play. That's why. Not so sure,
- 20:36Speaker 1: even though the Mets can spend more than anybody, and uh,
- 20:39Speaker 1: you know Colin can write out a freaking personal check. Basically,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure what the Mets if the Mets my pass.
- 20:48Speaker 1: If the Sodo money gets too crazy, maybe to sign
- 20:51Speaker 1: a couple of other guys, Maybe to fill a couple
- 20:53Speaker 1: of other spots. Alex Bregman's a free agent, maybe they
- 20:57Speaker 1: sign him five years to play third base for twenty
- 21:00Speaker 1: five million approximately. They move Vientos to first base, or
- 21:05Speaker 1: Vanto's becomes their DH. They signed Corbyn Burns because all
- 21:09Speaker 1: the pitchers that they have this year, with the exception
- 21:11Speaker 1: of Peterson, are all on one of their deals. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: of course Cody Sando will be back next year and
- 21:19Speaker 1: that's gonna be big for the Mets. And if they
- 21:22Speaker 1: resign Alonzo, maybe Orlondo becomes the full time DH, or
- 21:26Speaker 1: him and Vento's split first base. So for those three guys,
- 21:30Speaker 1: he probably is probably gonna cost you eighty eighty five
- 21:33Speaker 1: million instead of one guy as great as Soto is
- 21:36Speaker 1: for seventy million. I don't know. I mean, I could
- 21:40Speaker 1: see that happening. But I can tell you one thing.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Juan Soto was not giving the New York Yankees a
- 21:45Speaker 1: home down discount. That is not the way Scott Borroughs
- 21:50Speaker 1: operates with his guys.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It doesn't even him. The way Soto operates with the
- 21:53Speaker 2: guys either.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I mean it just he turned down that deal with
- 21:57Speaker 1: the with the Nationals before Nationalist trade him and it
- 22:02Speaker 1: was six years. What was it, six years, one hundred
- 22:04Speaker 1: and sixty million.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I remember that. That was pretty intense for he.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You know, I always think these players can easily skip
- 22:11Speaker 2: over millions of dollars, mean, like you and I would
- 22:13Speaker 2: love a million dollars or more.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You know, it's at just think the Yankees opted out
- 22:20Speaker 1: of Rizzo's deal. He was going to get seventy million
- 22:23Speaker 1: dollars if the Yankees opted in, so they opted out,
- 22:26Speaker 1: but they had to buy him out. Rizzo still is
- 22:30Speaker 1: still going to get six million dollars next year from
- 22:32Speaker 1: the Yankees, so the Yankees could opt out of his contract.
- 22:37Speaker 1: So the Yankees are saving eleven million dollars, but Anthony
- 22:39Speaker 1: Rizzo is getting six million dollars.
- 22:42Speaker 2: It's it's unbelievable baseball money talks like this is so
- 22:46Speaker 2: fascinating that of course Bonia still owed. What is that?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Oh it is so many. I mean they used Bobby
- 22:52Speaker 1: Bena be course it's a New York team into med team,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but there's so many guys like that. The National Zone. Oh,
- 22:59Speaker 1: Max shows way more money than the Mets, oh Benia
- 23:03Speaker 1: for the next fifteen years. I think Manny Ramirez in
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Red Sox, they owe a ton of money. I
- 23:09Speaker 1: mean you can if you really research, there's so many
- 23:13Speaker 1: of those type of deals.
- 23:14Speaker 2: You know. I wouldn't also be surprised if he goes
- 23:16Speaker 2: to LA because Dodgers seem to just want to keep spending.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So no, I mean if you go if Jan Sodo
- 23:22Speaker 1: goes to the Dodgers, that's not good for baseball, that
- 23:26Speaker 1: really is. That's terrible for baseball in my opinion. He
- 23:30Speaker 1: got Bets, you got Freeman, you got Otani, and you're
- 23:34Speaker 1: gonna have Sodo. This is the other thing with Juan Soto.
- 23:36Speaker 1: He's twenty six years old, he's in the prime of
- 23:39Speaker 1: his physical career. But Alex he's not a great right field.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Like we earlier said, so are you gonna pay seventy
- 23:47Speaker 1: million dollars because is he going to be a dh
- 23:50Speaker 1: at the age of thirty? I mean, you got a
- 23:52Speaker 1: factor a lot of those things in there.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this, speaking of in their prime,
- 23:57Speaker 2: In a span of six months, we had Conor McDavid
- 24:01Speaker 2: comes this close to the Stanley Cup and then Aaron
- 24:04Speaker 2: Judge comes this close to the Commissioner's Trophy, and I'm
- 24:07Speaker 2: going to ask you again, like I did with McDavid,
- 24:11Speaker 2: will he get there again? I think that's the pressing
- 24:13Speaker 2: question for Judge and the Yankees. I think he will.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But it's just.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Amazing in a six months time, the best players in
- 24:18Speaker 2: these leagues comes as close as close, and you wonder
- 24:22Speaker 2: can they get back there again?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean, knowing the Yankees history, they've made the
- 24:27Speaker 1: playoffs twenty five times in the last thirty years. Yes,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I will say that Aaron Judge will be in a
- 24:34Speaker 1: World Series again and we'll have a chance to win
- 24:37Speaker 1: that Commissioner's Trophy. I would give him a better shot
- 24:43Speaker 1: than Connor McDavid.
- 24:46Speaker 2: All Right, Now, Edmonton's not looking as hot as they
- 24:49Speaker 2: usually are, right.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, the thing is that I don't know if
- 24:52Speaker 1: you want to jump out. You know, we got plenty
- 24:54Speaker 1: of time to talk about hockey. But the Edmonton Oilers
- 24:58Speaker 1: are off to a a shaky start, not as bad
- 25:01Speaker 1: as last year when they started out three twelve and one,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and McDavid has an injury that's going to keep him
- 25:07Speaker 1: out another two weeks, so we'll see. But a couple
- 25:13Speaker 1: of things in hockey right away and then, and it's
- 25:15Speaker 1: not with the local teams. The Winnipeg Jets are off
- 25:18Speaker 1: to an eleven and one start, and the Washington Capitals
- 25:23Speaker 1: there are eight and three, and Alex Ovechkin is only
- 25:27Speaker 1: he's only thirty four goals behind a record many thought
- 25:31Speaker 1: was unbreakable when Gretzky's all time goal record of eight
- 25:36Speaker 1: hundred and ninety four goals. He's only thirty four away
- 25:39Speaker 1: from breaking it, from tying it, thirty five from breaking it.
- 25:42Speaker 1: At this pace, he'll do it. And right around the
- 25:47Speaker 1: end of last week in March, first week in April
- 25:50Speaker 1: last year, Alex Ovechkin had a terrible first half of
- 25:53Speaker 1: the season and many people thought that he might have
- 25:55Speaker 1: been petering out. But he's off to a great starts.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Unless he gets hurt, he's gonna break. He's gonna hit
- 26:03Speaker 1: nine hundred goals, which was thought thought impossible. And remember
- 26:06Speaker 1: Gretzky did it in an offensive era. Ovechkin's doing it
- 26:10Speaker 1: in his career in a much much more defensive era
- 26:16Speaker 1: where the goals a game weren't so plentiful as there
- 26:20Speaker 1: were in the eighties. And I mean Alex in the
- 26:22Speaker 1: eighties there were eight seven games, ten six games, and
- 26:28Speaker 1: so that's that's my.
- 26:31Speaker 2: It's on, and that watch was off for a little bit,
- 26:33Speaker 2: but it's back on. And I say off a little
- 26:35Speaker 2: bit because his health and his his goal production last
- 26:39Speaker 2: year was a little lower than normal, so.
- 26:41Speaker 1: People, and then at the end of the season he
- 26:44Speaker 1: got he got hot, but for a long stretch he
- 26:47Speaker 1: couldn't put the puck in the net, and he wasn't
- 26:52Speaker 1: getting scoring chances, which is almost impossible. The guy always
- 26:55Speaker 1: leads the league in scoring opportunity.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But I tell you what a scoring though. Vechkin is
- 26:59Speaker 2: a scary cattle team. I don't care how old he is.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So that's as well.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Like Dalax, they're well coached, all right.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I want to stay with hockey now that we're here
- 27:08Speaker 2: for a second, because yesterday I think we saw a
- 27:12Speaker 2: tale of two teams where they're going. I could be
- 27:14Speaker 2: wrong about the Islanders, but and I know Barzell's hurt,
- 27:17Speaker 2: but look the Aisles, and we both know lou La
- 27:22Speaker 2: Morello and I have an affinity for him, but is
- 27:26Speaker 2: it on him that this team is just flailing right now?
- 27:30Speaker 2: I feel like they're not on a good, good footing.
- 27:34Speaker 1: If you are they have a skeleton team out there
- 27:36Speaker 1: to the player who's going to be out four to
- 27:38Speaker 1: six weeks, devastating loss. By the time he gets back,
- 27:41Speaker 1: the season could be over. Anthony Duclair, who has signed
- 27:45Speaker 1: as a free agent to play in the top line,
- 27:48Speaker 1: played just two games and got hurt. I believe he's
- 27:51Speaker 1: about ten days away from coming back, and Pellick is
- 27:55Speaker 1: going to be out four to six weeks. He has
- 27:58Speaker 1: been a mainstay for the Islanders defense. Alexander Romanov did
- 28:05Speaker 1: not play yesterday and he's their best defensive defenceman. But
- 28:11Speaker 1: all that being said, in the first ten games of
- 28:14Speaker 1: the year, they still have a lot of the same
- 28:17Speaker 1: problems that they've had last year and in the past.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Their power play is ineffective, their penalty kill is ineffective,
- 28:29Speaker 1: and uh as good as you could be five on five,
- 28:35Speaker 1: If your if your especialty teams are down at the
- 28:38Speaker 1: bottom of the league, you're not going to be successful. Now, Iliak,
- 28:44Speaker 1: they're lucky that they have them. What a spectacular goaltender
- 28:47Speaker 1: he is. I mean, you look at you look at
- 28:49Speaker 1: the Ola sokn I mean if Jhamas have him, and
- 28:53Speaker 1: they have obviously a great backup in in in Volomov.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Who knows where they would be. But can Island just
- 29:02Speaker 1: hang on until I get some of these injured guys back,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know if you if I had
- 29:07Speaker 1: to make a decision on that, I would say no.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And there's nobody at Bridgeport that's ready to come up
- 29:17Speaker 1: and you know, make you know, make an impression and
- 29:21Speaker 1: uh and.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I know Patrick Waugh is still there behind the bench
- 29:25Speaker 2: and it's been he was sort of the beginning of
- 29:28Speaker 2: hope last year. What are your thoughts on him behind
- 29:31Speaker 2: the bench this year in his first real fourth.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Last year, if they didn't make the change, if they
- 29:36Speaker 1: didn't put Guah in to replace Lambert Lane Lambert, they
- 29:40Speaker 1: would not have They wouldn't have made the playoffs. You
- 29:42Speaker 1: has to lost in the first round, but to a
- 29:44Speaker 1: better Carolina team, but they would not have made the playoffs.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I'm a little bit surprised that there's been just sentence
- 29:53Speaker 1: of the game where it seemed like the Islanders were
- 29:55Speaker 1: non competitive and Patrick Waugh was one of the most
- 29:58Speaker 1: competitive hockey players ever. He was one of the most
- 30:03Speaker 1: competitive goalies that that he could want, So that has
- 30:06Speaker 1: that surprised me a little bit. Four time Stanley Cup
- 30:09Speaker 1: win or two different teams. So we'll see, but we'll
- 30:14Speaker 1: see the other side of the ice.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'm very happy for Vinnie Trocheck for getting gold to hundred.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Uh.
- 30:21Speaker 2: He and Pryder are and I would say Coolly and
- 30:24Speaker 2: a couple other guys are leading the way here. Panerin
- 30:26Speaker 2: gets his goals and he's on a way on his way.
- 30:30Speaker 2: The Rangers hot start a little hotter than last year,
- 30:33Speaker 2: seems promising. Now is it gonna last.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Well, it's gonna it's gonna last. Be the Rangers have
- 30:37Speaker 1: such a good team, but the Rangers need to need
- 30:41Speaker 1: to tie up a bit. Even though the Rangers have
- 30:44Speaker 1: had a very good start, I Goosustkin has been spectacular,
- 30:49Speaker 1: not good. He's been spectacular. So now you can see
- 30:52Speaker 1: why he turned down that, uh that that eleven million
- 30:57Speaker 1: dollars a year deal. I don't know how hard the
- 31:00Speaker 1: Range you're gonna have to go to resign him. He's
- 31:02Speaker 1: by far their best player. P Thearin's their best skater,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I believe, along with Cryer, I don't think the Rangers
- 31:10Speaker 1: have played their best yet and are off to a
- 31:12Speaker 1: tremendous start. So that's good for the Rangers again, the Rangers.
- 31:17Speaker 1: It's now, it's Stanley couple of bus time.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I know it is. And because again talking about prime
- 31:24Speaker 2: of their careers, this is the prime for Crier. This
- 31:27Speaker 2: is the time he's been on this team forever. Get
- 31:30Speaker 2: him the ring now. And I want him to get
- 31:31Speaker 2: a ring as bad as I want.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Judge to get a ring with the Yankees.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I mean, the hunger is here for these guys to
- 31:37Speaker 2: win the ring.
- 31:38Speaker 1: It's just it's you want Judge to get the ring,
- 31:44Speaker 1: but you want him to be you want him to
- 31:46Speaker 1: be a major player and then getting the ring. Just say,
- 31:49Speaker 1: if the Yankees had won this year and Judge had
- 31:52Speaker 1: had a you know, and Judge and not have a
- 31:53Speaker 1: good postseason, how would you feel about that.
- 31:57Speaker 2: We got the anksor ring. I wouldn't care about it.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But I mean, don't Wun't you want Judge to have
- 32:02Speaker 1: a stamp on the ring on Championship one. I'm just
- 32:05Speaker 1: throwing it out there.
- 32:06Speaker 2: What I wanted to get the game winner that seals
- 32:08Speaker 2: their ring. Absolutely I would want that, all right, But
- 32:12Speaker 2: I get what you're saying, and I'd won Prider. You know,
- 32:15Speaker 2: Prider and Zabanajet were not there in the Conference finals.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I don't know what happened to them, but they just
- 32:22Speaker 2: were not the guys they were in even the first
- 32:23Speaker 2: couple of rounds. It was very frustrating because here's this
- 32:26Speaker 2: first line and they're not really being the gold producers
- 32:29Speaker 2: in that series. And Zabanajet with that shot over over Lebrovski,
- 32:35Speaker 2: it still haunts me to this moment as I talk
- 32:37Speaker 2: about it. LOUI, yeah, I mean it's just one of
- 32:39Speaker 2: those shots you can't get over.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Well, you gotta remember the Rangers played an incredibly disciplined
- 32:45Speaker 1: team in the Florida Panthers. I mean they were all
- 32:48Speaker 1: over the Rangers and all their opponents in the postseason.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Like Glue, they know they were assignments. There weren't a
- 32:57Speaker 1: lot of breakouts against the Florid. Uh. They they're disciplined
- 33:02Speaker 1: as far as staying in their defensive lanes and they
- 33:06Speaker 1: have at they had a great goaltender and uh, they're
- 33:12Speaker 1: off to a great start too. I don't know if
- 33:14Speaker 1: they're going in the Cup again. It's very hard to
- 33:16Speaker 1: win too in a row these days. But like I said,
- 33:20Speaker 1: this is the Rangers, this is the Rangers time, and
- 33:22Speaker 1: we'll we'll keep obviously, Uh, tabs on them as the
- 33:28Speaker 1: season and we'll we'll focus more on them as this
- 33:31Speaker 1: season goes along them.
- 33:33Speaker 2: The devil's in the Islanders and yeah, we'll have to see. Hey, no, Lou,
- 33:38Speaker 2: I want to speak staying in their jersey.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Now.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I want to ask you this. There's no way to
- 33:43Speaker 2: trade coaches, right you like, if you traded Dave with
- 33:47Speaker 2: the Dallas and you traded McCarthy to the Giants, maybe
- 33:51Speaker 2: those teams will be better fit for those coaches. I mean,
- 33:53Speaker 2: what is going on with both teams right now? Dallas
- 33:56Speaker 2: looks I guess it's organized. Now that's hurt and then
- 33:59Speaker 2: you got the Giants. Every time Daniel Jones supposed to
- 34:02Speaker 2: throw football, I get nervous. I don't know if he's
- 34:04Speaker 2: gonna complete it or throw an interception or just waste down.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It's just it's very nervousing to watch Dani Jones throw football.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I have to.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Well, Alex, I don't think Brian Dable is going to
- 34:18Speaker 1: lose his job during the season. I don't think he's
- 34:21Speaker 1: gonna lose his job at the end of the year.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I think one of the reasons is because the Giant
- 34:28Speaker 1: management has gone through coaches in the last six or
- 34:35Speaker 1: seven years from McAdoo to Pat Charmer to Joe Judge.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to do it again after
- 34:45Speaker 1: three years. I could be wrong. Dennis Allen got fired
- 34:49Speaker 1: today and you know, in the middle of his third
- 34:51Speaker 1: year with the New Orleans Saints. And Alex just goes
- 34:55Speaker 1: to show you, as I always say, this week changes
- 34:58Speaker 1: week to week. They scored ninety one points the Saints.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They're in their first two games, they haven't won the
- 35:04Speaker 1: games since and their coach, their head coach got fired
- 35:07Speaker 1: this morning. So you really, it's just such a hard
- 35:11Speaker 1: sport to uh to figure out, really because of injuries
- 35:17Speaker 1: and there's just so many factors that come at you
- 35:20Speaker 1: from so many different angles. But I think Joe Shanean
- 35:23Speaker 1: is okay, and I think Brian Davill's okay. The thing
- 35:28Speaker 1: is coming into this draft unless somebody really jumps up,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you don't have the quarterbacks, not as we as we
- 35:39Speaker 1: talk here in the first full week of November that
- 35:43Speaker 1: you had last year. Now that could change the rest
- 35:46Speaker 1: of the way. But now and you could see a
- 35:50Speaker 1: little bit with Drake May I mean, the Patriots aren't
- 35:54Speaker 1: a good team, but you could see the kid has talent,
- 35:57Speaker 1: he's got athletic ability, he can run. You could see
- 36:00Speaker 1: why the Giants were so interested in trying to trade
- 36:06Speaker 1: up to get to get Drake May.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Oh, by the ways, being of Drake May. Everybody was
- 36:12Speaker 2: so pissed off that the Jets lost this one in
- 36:15Speaker 2: six Patriot team. I'm sure you were too. I mean,
- 36:18Speaker 2: it was just pretty bad. But I got to commend
- 36:22Speaker 2: them on the follow up against the Texans. I mean,
- 36:25Speaker 2: Rogers Adams, that's vintage, isn't it. The way they were
- 36:28Speaker 2: connecting there, and then Garrett Wilson involved with that incredible catch,
- 36:32Speaker 2: that OBJ type catch. I mean, maybe they're still in
- 36:36Speaker 2: it that three and six. Is there a possibility or not?
- 36:39Speaker 1: This is just me talking. They're out of it. They're done,
- 36:44Speaker 1: They're done. I mean, I think if you go down
- 36:48Speaker 1: the NFC and NFC, we could almost pick out the
- 36:51Speaker 1: teams that are definitely in one or two teams on
- 36:54Speaker 1: the bubble. The Jets are not like that now. Again,
- 36:58Speaker 1: as poorly as the Jets have played, if Greg Zerline,
- 37:04Speaker 1: you know who is in the eighty three eighty four
- 37:07Speaker 1: percent successful rate in his NFL career and has had
- 37:10Speaker 1: a successful NFL career didn't miss a forty four yard
- 37:16Speaker 1: field goal and an extra point against New England, didn't
- 37:19Speaker 1: clank a thirty two yard field goal against Buffalo, and
- 37:23Speaker 1: missed a forty seven yard field goal against Buffalo. And
- 37:25Speaker 1: the Buffalo game was a Jets' best game. That's a
- 37:28Speaker 1: game the Jets should have won. And he did miss
- 37:30Speaker 1: a fifty yarder. Yes it was in the rain against Denver. Yes,
- 37:33Speaker 1: it shouldn't have come down to that. The Jets should
- 37:36Speaker 1: have had that game, should have played better in that game.
- 37:39Speaker 1: But just think, just take two of those games. So
- 37:42Speaker 1: instead of three and six, if an air line came through,
- 37:46Speaker 1: the Jets are five and four, and I would say, yes, Sallex,
- 37:48Speaker 1: they're still winning. But at three and six, they're not
- 37:51Speaker 1: in it. I think that. I think there's a very
- 37:53Speaker 1: good chance they're underdog against Arizona on Sunday, and I
- 37:58Speaker 1: don't have confidence that they could win that. They still
- 38:01Speaker 1: got to play Miami twice, which was different than playing
- 38:04Speaker 1: safe Miami a month ago because two is back now.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Obviously Tour can get hurt because he gets concussions easily,
- 38:14Speaker 1: so we don't know that. But they gotta still go
- 38:16Speaker 1: to Buffalo. They got to play the Rams at home, Alex,
- 38:22Speaker 1: they're done. I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm as
- 38:26Speaker 1: wrong as I was when we were talking about the
- 38:28Speaker 1: Mets back in June. Back in May, when I said
- 38:31Speaker 1: they're going nowhere, but the Jets, you're done. I mean
- 38:36Speaker 1: they're done. Nick. Now, let's think who's going to be
- 38:39Speaker 1: a new coach? Is they're going to be a new
- 38:41Speaker 1: general manager? I think they probably will be. It's Aaron
- 38:45Speaker 1: Rodgers going to be their quarterback next year. I would
- 38:47Speaker 1: say that's fifty to fifty. You know, there's a lirash somewhere.
- 38:53Speaker 1: He wants a deal.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Pretty he wants a deal done with the Jets at
- 38:57Speaker 2: some point before the season's over or something like that.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I want to get to one of them.
- 39:01Speaker 1: He's got, I think he. I think his deal has done, Alex.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I think his deal is done for next year. I
- 39:07Speaker 1: want to get that. I didn't know that.
- 39:10Speaker 2: But I want to get to one more team before
- 39:12Speaker 2: we wrapped today. Uh well, I guess a couple, but
- 39:16Speaker 2: but really one that's on my heart because you know,
- 39:18Speaker 2: my dad's a big Bear fan, and he would be
- 39:22Speaker 2: rolling in his ashes right now if he saw the
- 39:26Speaker 2: way they lost to Washington and then they lose yesterday.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I know, I we don't get the games here locally,
- 39:36Speaker 2: so I can't and you probably watched these games.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I watched a good team.
- 39:40Speaker 2: I feel like they're still a good team to come
- 39:43Speaker 2: back in this season. I mean, I know the NFC
- 39:45Speaker 2: door that is just overpowered by the lines and vikings,
- 39:48Speaker 2: but they're still a good team.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Like I said you in your early part of the year,
- 39:53Speaker 1: they're an interesting watch. They got run on yesterday bye
- 39:57Speaker 1: by Arizona. Williams did not have a good game yesterday,
- 40:04Speaker 1: but again you didn't playing the quarterback. When you lose,
- 40:06Speaker 1: it's the whole team most of you know, most of
- 40:08Speaker 1: the time is you know, there's so many components to
- 40:10Speaker 1: a quarterback being successful and the quarterback being unsuccessful. And
- 40:14Speaker 1: Williams are going to be fine. And the three rookie
- 40:17Speaker 1: quarterbacks well, now that's four rookie quarterbacks starting, but the
- 40:20Speaker 1: three who started this season Williams, Jane and Daniels and
- 40:24Speaker 1: bow Knicks are fine. And bow Knicks since I saw
- 40:27Speaker 1: him one month ago, literally one month ago, where he
- 40:32Speaker 1: was horrendous, even though Denver beat the Jets ten to nine,
- 40:35Speaker 1: his improvement over the last four weeks has been remarkable
- 40:39Speaker 1: and looks like he's going to be a solid NFL
- 40:42Speaker 1: quarterback and he's athletic. So but the Bears, the Bears
- 40:47Speaker 1: have good players. I mean, the Bears do have good players.
- 40:49Speaker 1: So again, they play a tough you know, just a
- 40:54Speaker 1: tough division. The face of the Lions are probably the
- 40:58Speaker 1: best team in the NFC, and they might be the
- 41:02Speaker 1: best team in the NFL.
- 41:04Speaker 2: So I could see a Casey Lines super Bowl. And
- 41:09Speaker 2: I'm glad you mentioned best team because here they are
- 41:11Speaker 2: the Casey Chiefs against the Bucks tonight. I would say
- 41:16Speaker 2: they should stay undefeated. I think it's a fascinating story
- 41:19Speaker 2: that after repeating they're now undefeated. I mean, and they're
- 41:22Speaker 2: just adding on. They keep adding these other wide receivers
- 41:25Speaker 2: if you notice, I mean these guys they're making moves
- 41:27Speaker 2: still well.
- 41:30Speaker 1: And their offense has not been good, Alex, they're seven
- 41:32Speaker 1: and on your offense has not been good. They have
- 41:34Speaker 1: a and we've talked about this in the past. Their
- 41:38Speaker 1: defense is young, is aggressive, is creative, and uh they
- 41:50Speaker 1: got they got a heck of a chance to go
- 41:52Speaker 1: back to uh back to the super Bowl again because
- 41:57Speaker 1: they haven't played anywhere near their offensive abilities. Yes, I know,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't have the receivers I used to have, and
- 42:04Speaker 1: I know, but Checko's hurt. I think he's going to
- 42:07Speaker 1: come back maybe next week. That'll help their running game. Obviously,
- 42:12Speaker 1: the receivers Rice and Hollywood Brown are done for the year,
- 42:16Speaker 1: so we'll see. But don't underestimate Andy Reid, Steve Spagnola,
- 42:22Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. You know, that's a pretty good, pretty good
- 42:26Speaker 1: trio to have. But if I was running for MVP
- 42:30Speaker 1: right now, I would row for Jared Goff.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he's the guy right now. I mean the
- 42:36Speaker 2: way he's connecting with his guys, it's pretty awesome to watch.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I want to just tweak one thing about Daniel Jones.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I think he's better.
- 42:45Speaker 2: In the short game than the long game. It seems
- 42:46Speaker 2: like when they get him on the short game, he
- 42:48Speaker 2: completes his passes, I think, complete the touchdowns. I just
- 42:52Speaker 2: I don't get why they keep trying to go along
- 42:54Speaker 2: with him. Just keep them short and they might actually
- 42:56Speaker 2: have some success the rest of the way here, Am
- 42:58Speaker 2: I right?
- 42:59Speaker 1: Well, it seems like his accuracy is better on the
- 43:02Speaker 1: short range ball then, even though he has a strong
- 43:05Speaker 1: arm and he's a tough kid Alex that touchdown he
- 43:08Speaker 1: scored where he bounced off those two Washington defenders and
- 43:12Speaker 1: then to the end zone. I mean you actually heard
- 43:14Speaker 1: the collision, you know on a field mic. You know
- 43:20Speaker 1: he again? Is he he? Will he be in this
- 43:23Speaker 1: league five years from now? Yes, I don't know if
- 43:26Speaker 1: he'll be a starter, but he'll be. He'll be in
- 43:29Speaker 1: this league. But uh, the Giants have The Giants have
- 43:36Speaker 1: different issues, and say the Jets do. I mean the
- 43:39Speaker 1: Jets issues I think might be worse because the Jets
- 43:42Speaker 1: have talented players and uh, they're just not getting it done,
- 43:47Speaker 1: whether it be coaching, which I think it is. And uh,
- 43:52Speaker 1: the Giants just have a lot of holes to fill.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I mean, just just just look at Evan Neil. He
- 43:59Speaker 1: was drafted seventh overall in a league or offensive linemen
- 44:04Speaker 1: or at a premium offense. The offensive line throughout all
- 44:09Speaker 1: these teams in the league is so many teams the
- 44:11Speaker 1: weakest part of teams the offensive line. Evan Neil can't
- 44:15Speaker 1: can't get a snap. You know. They drafted the kid
- 44:19Speaker 1: from Maryland, Deyontay Banks. The cornerback had got beat for
- 44:23Speaker 1: two touchdowns yesterday and has been has pulled up on
- 44:29Speaker 1: on tackles a couple of weeks ago against the Eagles,
- 44:32Speaker 1: and and Realen hurts the same thing in a game
- 44:36Speaker 1: against Pittsburgh. What's with this guy? I mean, don't they
- 44:41Speaker 1: vet these guys. It's mind boggling to me. See that
- 44:47Speaker 1: can course, that can course that Joe Shane's job earlier.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I just don't think that that John Marray is going
- 44:52Speaker 1: to pull a trigger. Maybe next year at this time.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yes, by the way, I know, last thing, yep, go ahead,
- 45:03Speaker 2: one last thing before we wrap today. The legend Michael Jordan,
- 45:09Speaker 2: I guess was rumored to him made a political endorsement,
- 45:12Speaker 2: but in typical Jordan's style, his team is saying he
- 45:19Speaker 2: doesn't endorse anybody. So, you know, I'm not surprised, but
- 45:23Speaker 2: I just think it's fascinating that here we are on
- 45:25Speaker 2: a sports talk and here's Michael Jordan not making endorsement
- 45:30Speaker 2: after rumors that he endorsed Trump.
- 45:31Speaker 1: There you go.
- 45:32Speaker 2: I mean, should the greatest player of all time that
- 45:36Speaker 2: any of us ever seen make an endorsement or way
- 45:38Speaker 2: in or what.
- 45:40Speaker 1: He does not have to. He is not obliged to
- 45:43Speaker 1: do that. He's a private citizen. He doesn't have to
- 45:47Speaker 1: do that.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Actually, I would say Lebron could take a page out
- 45:49Speaker 2: of Michael because I think he talks a lot for
- 45:52Speaker 2: an athlete that people really just watch to play the game,
- 45:55Speaker 2: to be honest.
- 45:56Speaker 1: But Alex, you're ondred percent correct.
- 46:00Speaker 2: But that's besides the point. On that note, Lou loved
- 46:03Speaker 2: having you this week as always, anything that you want
- 46:05Speaker 2: to cover before we wrap up today.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna just throw a question out of at you.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Which NFL quarterback has eight touchdown passes and nine interception?
- 46:15Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, coach, quarterback of the seven and oh Kansas
- 46:20Speaker 1: City Chiefs has eight touchdowns and nine interceptions? How about that?
- 46:25Speaker 2: They've not been earth shattering. I guess we could say
- 46:28Speaker 2: they really have it. I mean, I I don't know.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I guess all these chief years, I've used to them
- 46:32Speaker 2: making the highlight reel, I don't see much highlight reels
- 46:34Speaker 2: from them, to be honest. It's been a little more
- 46:36Speaker 2: under the radar for a seven team.
- 46:39Speaker 1: No doubt about it. And Alex, that's scary for the
- 46:42Speaker 1: NFL because they're going to get better offensively.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Especially when Pacheco comes back. But we'll have to see. Hey, Lou,
- 46:50Speaker 2: thanks as always my friend and we'll do this again soon.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Alex, thank you for having me as always and you
- 46:56Speaker 1: have a good good day.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That was one leg up on sports with Terminello's take.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Lou Terminello
