- 0:04Speaker 3: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Ham'sday.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hester and Hester got it by bla blah blah your
- 0:12Speaker 1: locks in to off the bench.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Well, it's Brock Control for the.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Live from the.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Raising Kines Studio. Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yo, and welcome man to otb here live for Mobile
- 0:40Speaker 2: Alabama as we are here for the twenty twenty six
- 0:43Speaker 2: Panini Senior Bowl, our trip brought to you by First
- 0:47Speaker 2: American Bank and Trust.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Here on location in Mobile Jake Flynn and Elandra Jordan
- 0:53Speaker 5: and Tata back in the Raising Canes studio. And I know,
- 0:58Speaker 5: even though we're not there, I know it is freezing
- 1:01Speaker 5: cold in Baton Rouge. I believe it's twenty one degrees
- 1:04Speaker 5: on your commute to school and work today. Don't worry,
- 1:08Speaker 5: it's twenty four degrees here in Mobile, Alabama. So we
- 1:12Speaker 5: are in the pain in the elements with you. And
- 1:15Speaker 5: we're really going to be in the elements later on
- 1:17Speaker 5: today when we go to practice, but at least we're
- 1:20Speaker 5: cozy inside here today. There you go off. I'm fine
- 1:26Speaker 5: with it if you want. We're still waking up a
- 1:28Speaker 5: little bit. Yeah, we are here. Mobile is very cold.
- 1:33Speaker 6: It's not as wendy as it was yesterday yesterday coming
- 1:35Speaker 6: off that off the bay here because that's this hotel
- 1:38Speaker 6: or the conventional side of their ass right on the bay.
- 1:40Speaker 5: A lot of a lot of yeah, a lot of
- 1:42Speaker 5: ships being built around here, and Martible Cruiser is going.
- 1:46Speaker 5: It was real windy.
- 1:47Speaker 6: I don't care how tough you are, what part of
- 1:48Speaker 6: the country you're from, that wind will get you.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Now, I don't know. Yeah, I mean, yes, for sure.
- 1:55Speaker 5: It was hitting us right in the face. There was
- 1:57Speaker 5: a player. There's two players I saw in short yesterday
- 2:00Speaker 5: and they were both from Iowa. They were Hawk guys.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Jenning's dunker. Yeah, and he looks like a Jennings dunker.
- 2:07Speaker 6: If you get a chance watch him and practice, well,
- 2:10Speaker 6: I'll be your eyes on him. He's probably the most
- 2:12Speaker 6: impressive physically physically impressive.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Guy saw yesterday. Imagine like a refrigerator with a red mullet.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Yeah, beautiful red mullet. Too, beautiful red bull. It's like
- 2:21Speaker 6: an auburn mullet. Oh, it's great. Had shorts on, yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 6: not even good shorts either.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't even know how good of a player
- 2:28Speaker 5: he really is. It's great, he's great. Put draft you,
- 2:31Speaker 5: he's great. He looks the part.
- 2:35Speaker 6: So yeah, but we're here and look this morning, I
- 2:39Speaker 6: know listeners y'all probably were worried about it since yesterday.
- 2:44Speaker 6: We got coffee, coffee before the show started. I even
- 2:47Speaker 6: got two coffee, So yeah, we're going to go. Yesterday
- 2:49Speaker 6: it was a little bit of a a little bit
- 2:51Speaker 6: of train wreck when it came to coffee.
- 2:52Speaker 5: But we're here. Yeah, we we both got distracted multiple
- 2:55Speaker 5: times from thinking coffee was being set out. They didn't
- 2:59Speaker 5: have it. They have it this morning, but you know,
- 3:02Speaker 5: I brought coffee just in case. Thank you. You have
- 3:05Speaker 5: hotel coffee yep. It looks like just in case. Yep.
- 3:08Speaker 5: So we're okay, we're going to be fully caffeinated and
- 3:11Speaker 5: ready to.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Go for the next door chev Well, right here we
- 3:14Speaker 6: are on radio row at the Mobile Convention Center, right
- 3:17Speaker 6: next to the entrance. We just saw all the players
- 3:20Speaker 6: filing in. They're headed behind the black curtain here head
- 3:23Speaker 6: of the meetings. And yeah, we talked to some of
- 3:27Speaker 6: the coaches yesterday. They have I think a combined of
- 3:30Speaker 6: nine hours of meeting time this week, which you're like, oh,
- 3:33Speaker 6: there's a lot of meeting time. That is not a
- 3:34Speaker 6: lot of meeting time at all, you think about it.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I'm trying, I'm trying to think like an a normal week,
- 3:40Speaker 5: I mean twenty minimum.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Well, you talk, you think about let's just say it's
- 3:44Speaker 6: the meeting start today. They probably started yesterday. Let's just
- 3:46Speaker 6: say Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. That's a little over two
- 3:50Speaker 6: hours a day. That is not a lot of meating,
- 3:52Speaker 6: especially when you're trying to learn a new offense. So
- 3:55Speaker 6: it truly is about the physical skill set of all
- 3:58Speaker 6: these players, the one on one battles. What happens in
- 4:00Speaker 6: practice when you get nine hours of practice or nine
- 4:03Speaker 6: hours of meetings and I think eight hours on the field,
- 4:06Speaker 6: seven or eight hours on the field throughout a week.
- 4:08Speaker 6: It truly is about the practices.
- 4:11Speaker 5: The game is fun. It doesn't really matter.
- 4:14Speaker 6: As far as an evaluation standpoint, they are going to get.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Their evaluation will start today when practices start, because yeah, okay,
- 4:23Speaker 6: if you can't learn the offense or you might mess up,
- 4:25Speaker 6: you go in. So you should have gone out. You
- 4:27Speaker 6: zig when you should have had quarterback misses, a read
- 4:30Speaker 6: or didn't couldn't remember what the the protection adjustment call was. Whatever.
- 4:36Speaker 6: But like these quarterbacks, these receivers, these linemen, these dbs,
- 4:40Speaker 6: their evaluation starts today and we are fired up. There
- 4:44Speaker 6: will be two practices this afternoon. Of course, hopefully it'll
- 4:47Speaker 6: warm up a little bit. Yesterday would have been a
- 4:49Speaker 6: quarterbacks nightmare with cold weathers. But the wind, the wind
- 4:53Speaker 6: is cutting through.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Yeah, you were talking about that yesterday, so for our listeners,
- 4:57Speaker 5: because I think it was a mistake. But y'all never
- 5:00Speaker 5: let me throw a half back pass in a game. Sure,
- 5:02Speaker 5: so I'm going to throw it to you. You were
- 5:04Speaker 5: you said yesterday as we were walking back from lunch,
- 5:07Speaker 5: you said, this is a quarterback's worst nightmare.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Like what, Yeah, well, let me just win win in general, right,
- 5:13Speaker 6: you have to throw the ball a little bit different.
- 5:14Speaker 6: You have to grip the ball a little bit different.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Your pre pass position has to be a little different,
- 5:20Speaker 6: because you don't you want that nose to be pointed
- 5:22Speaker 6: down a little bit when you're throwing in the wind
- 5:24Speaker 6: so you can cut through Normally, if you're a right
- 5:27Speaker 6: handed passer, if you throw a perfect spiral, that it's
- 5:29Speaker 6: going to be nose up and pointed to the right
- 5:31Speaker 6: a little bit. Remember as a kid, when I was
- 5:33Speaker 6: training like the right mechanics, I used to throw at
- 5:35Speaker 6: a throw.
- 5:36Speaker 5: A basketball goal.
- 5:37Speaker 6: So you have to you have the orange square, so
- 5:40Speaker 6: the goal was as a right handed quarterback, if you
- 5:42Speaker 6: hit the top right corner of the orange square, it'll
- 5:44Speaker 6: go in every time with a good spiral because it's
- 5:46Speaker 6: like and that creates a nose up pass, creates a
- 5:49Speaker 6: really soft pass to catch.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Nose down passes.
- 5:53Speaker 6: If you see like these nose down quarterbacks, it's harder
- 5:56Speaker 6: passes to catch and like most of the times of
- 5:59Speaker 6: the nose down quarterback, your completion percentage will be lower.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Yeah, the balls always kind of going away from you.
- 6:03Speaker 5: It feels like as a receiver.
- 6:04Speaker 6: Yeah, there, you got to think like if you have
- 6:06Speaker 6: to like drop your hands to catch the nose down,
- 6:08Speaker 6: if you catching it up, it's just a softer pass
- 6:10Speaker 6: to catch well.
- 6:11Speaker 5: In the wind, you have to cut a little.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Bit more through the wind, so you have to try
- 6:15Speaker 6: to get that nose down a little bit, which makes
- 6:18Speaker 6: it a harder pass to throw. Uh, And it's hard
- 6:20Speaker 6: to cut through the wind. It's hard to do that.
- 6:22Speaker 6: It's harder pass to catch as well, but then like
- 6:25Speaker 6: with the cold, the cold air as well, it dries
- 6:27Speaker 6: out your hands, so you're constantly like licking, licking your fingers.
- 6:31Speaker 6: You used to see Drew Brees like in the dome
- 6:33Speaker 6: doing it. But if you have to do it, handwarmers
- 6:37Speaker 6: are essential because they create this little oven if you
- 6:41Speaker 6: if you do it right with the handwarmers. You got
- 6:43Speaker 6: to keep your hand warmers.
- 6:45Speaker 5: It creates a little sweat right in your hands, little tack.
- 6:49Speaker 5: You have to do that, and it's it's really, of.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Course to keep your hands warm, but really to keep
- 6:54Speaker 6: them wet.
- 6:56Speaker 5: A little bit, like you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 5: I didn't want to say you don't want to Yeah, okay,
- 7:02Speaker 5: it's okay, that's what you wanted to say. Yeah, that
- 7:07Speaker 5: keeps it oist. That didn't feel like a lot. I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 5: I feel, just just seven things to try to keep
- 7:13Speaker 5: your and in uh the right state of mind.
- 7:19Speaker 6: I know that, but it's but yeah, it's the Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 6: so the cold and the wind makes makes all the.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Difference in the world. Yeah, the wind is yeah. I
- 7:29Speaker 5: wouldn't say. I mean I'm looking I don't know if
- 7:31Speaker 5: you can look at the treado there sir, on that
- 7:33Speaker 5: building right there that that flag is it's whippen pretty good.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Well, you know it's we're on the Bay Stadium is
- 7:42Speaker 6: not near the baby. I'm looking at the I'm looking
- 7:43Speaker 6: at the tips of these trees.
- 7:44Speaker 5: We're good. Yeah, and uh, you know the whole reason
- 7:47Speaker 5: we're obviously rooting for our guy, garretts Smyer. So it's
- 7:50Speaker 5: you know, we're paying attention to that.
- 7:52Speaker 6: I don't know if we're gonna get him on the
- 7:53Speaker 6: show today or what day of the week we'll get
- 7:55Speaker 6: him on. We'll we'll certainly have a gear now spire
- 7:58Speaker 6: on on the show this week. We ran into him
- 7:59Speaker 6: yesterday leaving the convention Center. He seemed like he was
- 8:02Speaker 6: in good spirits, right.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Or role he's probably and Drew Fabian and the executive
- 8:07Speaker 5: director of the Panini Senior Ball is going to join
- 8:09Speaker 5: us at seven point thirty. That's at least a plan
- 8:11Speaker 5: right now. And I'll ask him his question because like
- 8:15Speaker 5: the buzz around this game even before we got here,
- 8:18Speaker 5: but certainly since we've been here, is no player has
- 8:20Speaker 5: more to gain than Garrett Nesmeyer with a good week
- 8:23Speaker 5: here at Mobile. The quarterback class is not very deep.
- 8:27Speaker 5: He is somebody that certainly has the talent to be
- 8:30Speaker 5: you know, I don't know where the range is, maybe
- 8:33Speaker 5: top ninety pick. He certainly before the year we were
- 8:36Speaker 5: talking about him as a potential top Yeah. Before the year.
- 8:40Speaker 6: It's like, all right, Fia has a bad year, second
- 8:42Speaker 6: third round, good year, We're we're looking at.
- 8:45Speaker 5: The number one guy, right, Yes, So like that's there,
- 8:48Speaker 5: And so teams still remember that. They talk about it.
- 8:51Speaker 5: They're like, yeah, okay, the tape, But like we have
- 8:54Speaker 5: to take in the totality of everything. Offensive coordinator got fired,
- 8:58Speaker 5: head coach got fired, Like the offense was not clicking
- 9:02Speaker 5: when the backup came in. Yep, all right, playing out
- 9:04Speaker 5: with an injury, yeah, playing through an injury that everybody
- 9:08Speaker 5: knew about and knows how hard it is to throw
- 9:10Speaker 5: the ball. So and those aren't excuses. Those are just
- 9:12Speaker 5: that's I'm telling you. That's how scouts have told me
- 9:14Speaker 5: they are evaluating Garrett Neusmeyer. And then we go back
- 9:16Speaker 5: to the junior tape. There's a lot of good in there, right,
- 9:20Speaker 5: And in the scout that I was talking to, you said,
- 9:22Speaker 5: every team's gonna think they can get that good out. Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 5: just like look, I mean, every head coach like when
- 9:26Speaker 5: there's a first round pick that doesn't work out somewhere,
- 9:29Speaker 5: that coach is like, oh, if I had him, like
- 9:31Speaker 5: he'd be a pro bowler, Like I can get that. Well,
- 9:33Speaker 5: not that that means anything anymore, but I can get
- 9:35Speaker 5: that guy to the best of his ability. There's gonna
- 9:38Speaker 5: be coaches that think, oh, I can get junior yearns
- 9:41Speaker 5: Meyer because he was in a bad system. Right, he's
- 9:45Speaker 5: gonna be healthy. I can get that out of him,
- 9:47Speaker 5: and they're gonna take him if he has a good
- 9:49Speaker 5: week here mobile Well, most coachesn't.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Then if I had former players and if there's anything
- 9:53Speaker 6: you know about former players there pretty cocky, So they
- 9:56Speaker 6: I would.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Say, we all have an ego, but you have to
- 9:59Speaker 5: have one. Yeah, you have to have a professional football player.
- 10:03Speaker 6: Yeah, and if you and if there's any question, because
- 10:06Speaker 6: it was everything was pretty mum about that Garrett Nessmyer
- 10:09Speaker 6: injury is like, what exactly was it?
- 10:10Speaker 5: What?
- 10:11Speaker 6: Like I remember in training camp, Oh, the knee got
- 10:13Speaker 6: rolled like got hit or rolled up on.
- 10:14Speaker 5: He's got a he's got a knee brace on. My god,
- 10:17Speaker 5: he's over maybe uh yeah, a little foreshadow in there.
- 10:21Speaker 5: I don't know any reporting on that one. Uh.
- 10:23Speaker 6: And then the oblique situation or and that's the one.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Like what it like? What is that like?
- 10:28Speaker 6: There was never really details or specifics at least that
- 10:31Speaker 6: I heard that were like, what is it? How do
- 10:33Speaker 6: you fix it? What is it really affecting? Well, we
- 10:36Speaker 6: saw it, if we saw it effected. It affected his mechanics.
- 10:39Speaker 6: It affected the amount of torque that he could put
- 10:43Speaker 6: on the pass and step forward. Because the you take
- 10:47Speaker 6: the same passes he threw this year compared to the
- 10:49Speaker 6: same pass as they.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Threw last year, it just looked different. He didn't get
- 10:52Speaker 5: the torque on it.
- 10:54Speaker 6: He tried, He just could not create that force and
- 10:57Speaker 6: get his weight going forward too many back, too many wait,
- 11:01Speaker 6: going backwards throws uh. And then it's just when something
- 11:05Speaker 6: goes right. As a quarterback or anything, you start pressing,
- 11:08Speaker 6: you try, you start you stop trying to make plays,
- 11:11Speaker 6: and you start trying to not make mistakes.
- 11:13Speaker 5: And that's what he did. And then that's when you
- 11:15Speaker 5: make more mistakes.
- 11:16Speaker 6: You start seeing those Sam Darnold ghosts that he saw
- 11:19Speaker 6: a couple of years. You start not being able to
- 11:22Speaker 6: move in the pocket, you start looking down at the
- 11:24Speaker 6: rush and it snowballs and it's snowballed on Garrett, That'smier
- 11:28Speaker 6: this year, and it's snowball on everybody for the LSU offense.
- 11:30Speaker 6: So absolutely does he have the most approved in our eyes?
- 11:34Speaker 5: Certainly?
- 11:34Speaker 6: Yeah, he's got the most to gain from this week.
- 11:37Speaker 5: So I can't wait. Tell I don't it's not just us,
- 11:39Speaker 5: Like I do want our listeners to know that, Like
- 11:41Speaker 5: this isn't just LSU homer shows. Yeah, we just had
- 11:43Speaker 5: a Florida Gayo Homers say that Andy Stables, Yeah, shout
- 11:47Speaker 5: out to Andy Woks on three does a great job.
- 11:49Speaker 5: He said the same thing. In scouts that I've talked
- 11:51Speaker 5: to have said the same thing, like, and it doesn't
- 11:54Speaker 5: matter which team, like Drew Fabianij, I'm sure we'll say
- 11:58Speaker 5: pretty much the same thing. They who runs this game?
- 12:00Speaker 5: Because of where his draft stock was before last year
- 12:04Speaker 5: to kind of where it fell to, like where there
- 12:06Speaker 5: was times where you were wondering is he going to
- 12:07Speaker 5: be draftable because the bad habits that you create and
- 12:11Speaker 5: you're trying to do all the things that you had
- 12:12Speaker 5: to go through, like you just kind of laid out there.
- 12:15Speaker 5: So were they a slight quarterback class when nobody really
- 12:19Speaker 5: knows who the number two behind Fernando Mendoza. Is is
- 12:23Speaker 5: it ty Simpson? Chambliss could maybe be, but he wants
- 12:26Speaker 5: to go play in college.
- 12:27Speaker 6: Well, he looked like ty Simpson's not here at this game. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 6: so that does tell you that somebody has given him
- 12:34Speaker 6: some advice about where they think he's going. So that
- 12:37Speaker 6: that should be all you need to know about where
- 12:39Speaker 6: ty Simpson's going to fall. Maybe not in the draft
- 12:41Speaker 6: order because I don't know how many first rounders.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Are in this class.
- 12:45Speaker 6: Yeah, but where he's going to go in the quarterback list,
- 12:47Speaker 6: at least he's got to be. I would think the
- 12:50Speaker 6: second guy or the third guy, dependent on what happens
- 12:52Speaker 6: with with Trinidad.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Who knows. He did probably start with stuff finding that
- 12:57Speaker 5: got good fight Well, yeah, because Drew fa and you
- 13:00Speaker 5: did save a spot for tryda Jamus. But now the
- 13:02Speaker 5: game started, so like, let's go play in the NFL. Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 5: you could go play in the NFL, but he was
- 13:06Speaker 5: playing college.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Kind of the dream, It's kind of what.
- 13:10Speaker 4: You were before the ultimate goal?
- 13:12Speaker 5: What about I got like a guy like Carson back, Like,
- 13:15Speaker 5: did you think.
- 13:15Speaker 6: He would maybe be here? I think he's an interesting option.
- 13:21Speaker 6: I'm not a pro I'm not a scout. Well, I
- 13:24Speaker 6: think of the name Carson back.
- 13:25Speaker 5: You do have a notebook, though, mouth breathing.
- 13:30Speaker 6: I'm thinking this is just a guess and I'm basing
- 13:33Speaker 6: this off of absolutely nothing.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Round five okay, just because of the blows, ups and downs,
- 13:40Speaker 5: peaks and valleys, whatever you want to say.
- 13:42Speaker 6: Well, look, I think this is again, this is a
- 13:46Speaker 6: draft class where there's a couple of guys at the top.
- 13:51Speaker 6: But then I think there's probably there might be this gap. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 6: like a quarterback drought in this draft, fourth, fifth, sixth round.
- 13:58Speaker 6: I don't know where it's going to, where he's going
- 14:00Speaker 6: to fall, But I don't think he's a He's not
- 14:02Speaker 6: a guy that you're going to take right now to
- 14:03Speaker 6: be a starter, right, He's guy that I think you
- 14:06Speaker 6: taken good back up, maybe turns into a starter when
- 14:10Speaker 6: he gets his opportunity.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Can he you know, can he make it worth it?
- 14:13Speaker 5: Type of guy?
- 14:13Speaker 6: I don't know, And I base that off of absolutely nothing.
- 14:15Speaker 6: I don't know what the draft stock is. I don't
- 14:17Speaker 6: know what scouts are saying. We can certainly ask around,
- 14:20Speaker 6: though we're in.
- 14:21Speaker 5: The right place. We got our ear to the ground. Yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 5: we do absolutely we're gonna be able to know all
- 14:27Speaker 5: the things by the time we get done here. All right,
- 14:30Speaker 5: there is multiple LSU players here, and hopefully today the
- 14:33Speaker 5: goal is to talk to at least one LSU player.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Yesterday we had a couple of quarterbacks. We had Joel
- 14:39Speaker 5: Thomas actually going to be the head coach for the
- 14:41Speaker 5: American team here of the New Orleans Saints' coaching staff there.
- 14:45Speaker 5: You didn't see him, well, you saw his back, you
- 14:47Speaker 5: didn't see his face, but he.
- 14:49Speaker 6: Gave some great We flipped the desk today, so all
- 14:52Speaker 6: of the other people that are tuning in watching on YouTube,
- 14:55Speaker 6: did you were doing nothing the talent. We're not going
- 15:00Speaker 6: to give anybody the option just to put their butt
- 15:03Speaker 6: in the camera.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Oh that's true. If he stopped by today, like you
- 15:06Speaker 5: would have to, he'd have to work for it. Make
- 15:08Speaker 5: him stop again. He gave good stuff, just like just okay,
- 15:11Speaker 5: let's see your face. Yeah. Uh, maybe we can get
- 15:14Speaker 5: Tolzy and stop by as well. We were talking to
- 15:16Speaker 5: him yesterday. We'll make him get on camera again today.
- 15:18Speaker 5: There's seven Saints coaches here, so they are well represented
- 15:23Speaker 5: and throughout the show, like we did yesterday, We're gonna
- 15:27Speaker 5: kind of go through. Okay, who do we think like
- 15:29Speaker 5: Jacobe Lange was a guy from Chakobe Lane? What school? Yes? See,
- 15:35Speaker 5: look at this guy? Are you kidding me? Look at
- 15:37Speaker 5: this guy. Don't ask me anybody else. I'm not Jennings
- 15:40Speaker 5: Dunker Iowa two for two two fed that one to myself.
- 15:46Speaker 5: You did, but you're still two for two. You got
- 15:47Speaker 5: it right, Thank you. So we'll talk about who the
- 15:50Speaker 5: Saints could be looking at, considering they have so many
- 15:52Speaker 5: coaches here, boots on the ground, mmobile actually coaching the game,
- 15:56Speaker 5: sitting in meetings with these players. We'll take our first
- 15:58Speaker 5: break more when we come back here live from Mobile, Alabama.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Off the bench, Off the bench.

- 17:21Speaker 3: Off the bench with Hester and Flanna Live from the
- 17:24Speaker 3: twenty twenty six Beny Senior Bowling Mobile presented by First
- 17:27Speaker 3: American Banking Trust.
- 17:29Speaker 6: BIT isom above God baking them on the bedrooms.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Oh good loge.
- 17:38Speaker 6: All this time he was standing legions up.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Us you that's if you're a situation.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Plays just say your night.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Come TV here live from Mobile, Alabama, Landro What was
- 18:09Speaker 5: it you were just saying?
- 18:10Speaker 1: I was gonna ask Matt Kevin Coleman Jr. Wait, his
- 18:15Speaker 1: MIC's Kevin Coleman.
- 18:18Speaker 5: I just don't want to turn my mic on today, sorry,
- 18:19Speaker 5: because that's so aggressively lide receiver. Missouri. Where was he before? Oh? Shoot?
- 18:29Speaker 5: Uh Louisville, yes, Joe, no big deal as Jackson, State
- 18:36Speaker 5: of Mississippi State. Yeah, I know, my god, definitely. Yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 5: he's been everywhere. Don't unpack the suitcase, all right, but
- 18:45Speaker 5: he's here now. Is there a mobile? Yeah? Okay, all right,
- 18:49Speaker 5: look look at you, Kevin Coleman. Yeah, okay, see or
- 18:52Speaker 5: key on Coleman go to college? Yes, you know this.
- 18:57Speaker 5: He's from Opelusius, Louisiana. Yeah, college at I do know this.
- 19:04Speaker 5: We'll we'll tease it for next segment. You definitely won't
- 19:08Speaker 5: google that. Do you think the owner of the bills those?
- 19:11Speaker 5: Uh yeah, well Michigan State and then Florida State. Well,
- 19:17Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I wouldn't got there.
- 19:20Speaker 6: No, Okay, maybe I don't read the back of the
- 19:23Speaker 6: sports cards.
- 19:24Speaker 5: Well I'll just tave you the pictures. And that's how
- 19:31Speaker 5: you know where somebody went to college. I can appreciate it.
- 19:34Speaker 5: What are you talking about. I can appreciate it. Nothing. No,
- 19:39Speaker 5: instead of like knowing where they played, Oh I got you.
- 19:41Speaker 5: I thought you're saying, that's where you know where I
- 19:43Speaker 5: went to college. Oh no, I know. We were to
- 19:45Speaker 5: college Louisiana State University. It's the only place that you win.
- 19:48Speaker 5: You didn't go four places. Anyways, any who's the rosters
- 19:54Speaker 5: are a little a little bit different than maybe we thought.
- 19:58Speaker 5: And we still gotta we gotta get comm formation. And
- 20:00Speaker 5: so when drew sits down was like in five minutes,
- 20:03Speaker 5: because there was initially five LSU players. Now the list
- 20:07Speaker 5: is down two three. He did say that they had
- 20:10Speaker 5: to change a couple of flights. Yeah, I think one
- 20:13Speaker 5: hundred and fifty.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Yeah, which is a real pain in the rear.
- 20:19Speaker 5: And I'm sure it costs a little bit of money
- 20:20Speaker 5: to do that. Yeah, And he meant he mentioned that.
- 20:24Speaker 5: But it's not just players. There's a lot of people
- 20:26Speaker 5: trying to cover this game. That have always been this game.
- 20:28Speaker 5: I know, like our guy Chris Dory, like he right now,
- 20:31Speaker 5: he was on flights all day yesterday that just kept
- 20:33Speaker 5: getting canceled and canceled and canceled. He was trying to
- 20:36Speaker 5: go through Charlotte from Gainsville to Charlotte, Charlotte's to Mobile.
- 20:39Speaker 5: We did have Andy Staples stopped by before the show.
- 20:42Speaker 5: We were chatting it up, who also lives in Gainesville,
- 20:44Speaker 5: and he's like, yeah, I never fly. I always drive
- 20:48Speaker 5: to this game because by the time you go from
- 20:50Speaker 5: here to there to back.
- 20:51Speaker 6: You probably have to have from Gainsville to Atlanta, then
- 20:53Speaker 6: Atlanta the Pensacola, rent a car and then drive.
- 20:56Speaker 5: You can get into Mobile too if you wanted to.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Of course, about the same as I think everybody I've
- 21:01Speaker 5: talked to those had they fly, A lot of people have,
- 21:04Speaker 5: but also new Eiel flew in Mobile last night. All
- 21:07Speaker 5: I got basically Andy was saying Ding's bougie and he
- 21:12Speaker 5: just got in a car and made the five and
- 21:14Speaker 5: a half hour drive. Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Uh, that's that's an obvious move though. Anything five and
- 21:21Speaker 6: a half hours.
- 21:22Speaker 5: It's like it's like Charlos to go down to thirty eight.
- 21:26Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, so maybe maybe if it's a you're going somewhere,
- 21:29Speaker 6: if the airport's close to you and it's a direct flight,
- 21:32Speaker 6: but if you got to connect, yeah, you ain't get anywhere.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Under five hours. No. That's why it like, we would
- 21:37Speaker 5: never fly to this had been because it's a three
- 21:40Speaker 5: hour drive, but we would have to go from Baton
- 21:42Speaker 5: Rouge to Atlanta to Mohill or Veton Rouge to Dallas
- 21:45Speaker 5: to You got to calculate everything.
- 21:46Speaker 6: You gotta talk, You got to calculate the drive time
- 21:48Speaker 6: to the airport, You got to calculate the time you
- 21:50Speaker 6: got to be there before.
- 21:52Speaker 5: You can't just say, well, it took off.
- 21:53Speaker 6: At five o'clock and only got there three and a
- 21:55Speaker 6: half hours later. Nope, sorry, when did you leave your house?
- 22:00Speaker 5: And that's why the New Orleans Saints are so well
- 22:03Speaker 5: represented here at the Senior Bowl because they are drivable.
- 22:07Speaker 5: They're the closest team. And I know this game has
- 22:09Speaker 5: talked about moving for a couple of different years, but
- 22:13Speaker 5: for the Saints, it is very convenient. And that's why
- 22:16Speaker 5: they have seven coaches going to be coaching for the
- 22:18Speaker 5: American team. We talked about receiver yesterday for the Saints.
- 22:24Speaker 5: What other positions do we think maybe, I mean, this
- 22:28Speaker 5: is a deep edge.
- 22:29Speaker 6: We know it's an EDG rusher class, so I think
- 22:31Speaker 6: that I mean that is when we go off to
- 22:33Speaker 6: practice today, the thing that I'm most excited to watch
- 22:37Speaker 6: is one on one routes.
- 22:40Speaker 5: So so receivers verse dbs.
- 22:42Speaker 6: And then the quarterback throwing of course, and then one
- 22:45Speaker 6: on one pass protection. Yeah, I cannot wait to see
- 22:47Speaker 6: these offensive line go against the defensive line. So that's
- 22:51Speaker 6: where that's where people. I think those one on one
- 22:54Speaker 6: reps is at a position like rusher or offensive tackle.
- 23:02Speaker 6: I think that's where you can move up some rounds
- 23:05Speaker 6: just because, all right, this guy looks the part. I've
- 23:08Speaker 6: seen him play, I've seen him do it on film.
- 23:10Speaker 6: But you don't really know the competition. Well, you get
- 23:12Speaker 6: the best on the best here at the Senior Bowl.
- 23:14Speaker 6: So if you dominate and you come out looking like
- 23:18Speaker 6: an alpha like, you're gonna turn some heads. And when
- 23:20Speaker 6: they're sitting when you have gms and scouts sitting there
- 23:23Speaker 6: on draft day looking at that best available, looking at
- 23:26Speaker 6: all the big boards and everything, those one on one
- 23:30Speaker 6: reps stick out to you. Certainly, it's not like how
- 23:32Speaker 6: you played in the game. It's not like, well he
- 23:35Speaker 6: grated out of eighty three at the Senior Bowl game. No,
- 23:39Speaker 6: it's like, was that guy a dog? Did he whip
- 23:42Speaker 6: somebody's tail one on one? So I can't wait to
- 23:44Speaker 6: watch that. So yeah, certainly edge rusher for the Saints
- 23:47Speaker 6: would be I mean, we've.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Talked about a nauseum like there's.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Besides quarterback, there's really not a position that you couldn't
- 23:56Speaker 6: use a little bit more depth. But certainly edge rusher
- 23:59Speaker 6: would make huge difference. Another lockdown corner would be fantastic. Yeah, but.
- 24:08Speaker 5: You know not what's gonna happen as far as free
- 24:11Speaker 5: agency with some guys and Jennings Dunker Lante Taylor falls.
- 24:16Speaker 5: As far as edge rushers, a couple of names that
- 24:18Speaker 5: I think a lot of people will know.
- 24:20Speaker 4: T J.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Parker from Clemson somebody's talked about a lot. Logan for
- 24:23Speaker 5: new from Utah denied. Dennis Sutton from Penn State is
- 24:27Speaker 5: somebody that had a lot of fanfare coming into the season.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Romelo Height from Texas Tech is also another player that
- 24:35Speaker 5: had a really good year and kind of, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 5: put his name in front of a lot of college
- 24:39Speaker 5: football fans. So those are some edge rushers to pay
- 24:42Speaker 5: attention to. I'm going to give you a say, a
- 24:45Speaker 5: small school, but he's just a group of six. Guy
- 24:48Speaker 5: at dB, you mentioned corner Chris Johnson from San Diego State. Okay,
- 24:53Speaker 5: that's somebody to kind of pay attention to. I think
- 24:55Speaker 5: he is a really good player, and I'm looking forward
- 24:57Speaker 5: to seeing happy a little bit, thank you, looking forward
- 25:00Speaker 5: to seeing how he competes here at the Panini Senior Ball.
- 25:03Speaker 5: So if you're watching practice, look out for Chris Johnson
- 25:07Speaker 5: from San Diego State. All right, we are going to
- 25:09Speaker 5: step away because Drew Fabiani, is the executive director of
- 25:12Speaker 5: the Panini Senior Ball is going to join us when
- 25:14Speaker 5: we come back. Right here Live for Mobile Alabama, brought
- 25:18Speaker 5: to you by First American Banking Trust.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Off the bench, Off the bench.
- 25:25Speaker 5: All right. Look, I know the weather's a little cold
- 25:27Speaker 5: out here. All right. I know it's cold, but inside,
- 25:30Speaker 5: when you turn your heater on, it's gonna be warm.
- 25:33Speaker 5: And what are you put into a warm hand, A
- 25:36Speaker 5: nice cold dose? Sequis? Oh yeah, or maybe two, I
- 25:38Speaker 5: don't know, depending on how frisky you want to get.
- 25:40Speaker 5: So it is always, even in the cold weather, a
- 25:43Speaker 5: great time to go for dose. So it doesn't matter
- 25:45Speaker 5: if it's a ballgame, practice like whatever, Like you got
- 25:48Speaker 5: your feet up and you're watching it, enjoying it, do
- 25:51Speaker 5: it with dose equis. Go for dose. It's right, go
- 25:54Speaker 5: for dose the most delicious beer.
- 25:57Speaker 6: We had a couple of do Segis yesterday and joy
- 26:00Speaker 6: well dinner last night. In the cold weather, I had
- 26:02Speaker 6: a couple a couple of dose Sekis. So if you're
- 26:05Speaker 6: gonna do it, make sure you do responsibly. Maybe with
- 26:07Speaker 6: the cold weather, maybe it's time for a little try
- 26:09Speaker 6: the Amber especial delicious, but they as always the delicious
- 26:14Speaker 6: ice cold Mexican lauger with a delicious fresh slice slime.
- 26:18Speaker 6: Make sure if you are going to have a part,
- 26:20Speaker 6: if you're going to do it, drink the best.
- 26:22Speaker 5: That's those secies. Drink responsible those sekies.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Welcome back to Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn
- 26:41Speaker 3: live from the twenty twenty six Panini Senior Bowl and
- 26:44Speaker 3: Mobile presented by First American Bank and Trust.
- 26:52Speaker 5: All Right, welcome back in It is OTB here live
- 26:55Speaker 5: from the twenty twenty six Panini Senior Bowl Mobile Alabama.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Of course, our You're brought to you by First American
- 27:01Speaker 5: Bank and Trust. And we look at Drew. Drew hit
- 27:05Speaker 5: the button with his with this cord. Oh, Drew, that
- 27:09Speaker 5: was Drew good one. Ye.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Yes, oh, there we go.
- 27:16Speaker 5: We got all kind of buttons. I mean, you want
- 27:19Speaker 5: to talk about fitting in with the right crew, just
- 27:22Speaker 5: start playing with the buttons on the world and I
- 27:24Speaker 5: try to do well. That's Drew Fabianity, executive director of
- 27:29Speaker 5: this Panini Senior Ball Drew, how you doing good? How
- 27:31Speaker 5: you guys doing doing fantastic? Glad to be here. Uh,
- 27:35Speaker 5: it's chilly outside, but gonna warm up a little bit
- 27:37Speaker 5: later for practice.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 7: I heard it swimming be like around forty eight to
- 27:41Speaker 7: fifty right in there in the wind.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Yeah, he ware like twenty this morning.
- 27:46Speaker 7: But as long as it's not raining, as long as
- 27:48Speaker 7: it's not raining and the wind won't be blowing like
- 27:50Speaker 7: it was yesterday.
- 27:51Speaker 5: You know, I was kind of hoping it was so
- 27:53Speaker 5: I could just go heckle the quarterbacks, though in practice
- 27:57Speaker 5: you would.
- 27:57Speaker 7: Be heckling, yeah, because like mettle to you, you better
- 28:00Speaker 7: make sure the tip down on that one.
- 28:03Speaker 5: By the first segment, like how do you throw the
- 28:05Speaker 5: football in the wind?
- 28:07Speaker 4: Down.
- 28:08Speaker 6: That's exactly right kind of speak of that. So the
- 28:13Speaker 6: what a week this is?
- 28:14Speaker 4: This is a.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Year's worth of preparation all wrapped into one week, and
- 28:19Speaker 6: so you're kind of like the man of the like,
- 28:22Speaker 6: how much sleep you getting in right now?
- 28:23Speaker 4: You know? Actually not, it's not that bad, okay.
- 28:27Speaker 7: You know, I've got a great staff and that that's
- 28:28Speaker 7: part of the thing that people don't really realize that
- 28:31Speaker 7: we've got eight full time people, you know, I'm nine,
- 28:34Speaker 7: including me, which handled most of the operations piece of it.
- 28:38Speaker 7: And then we've got myself, you know, my director ops,
- 28:42Speaker 7: and plus two scouting assistants to handle the you know,
- 28:44Speaker 7: the football side. Plus we've got ten area scouts. You
- 28:46Speaker 7: can sparkle all over the country and you know, and
- 28:49Speaker 7: I mean and again you don't know that. So again,
- 28:53Speaker 7: like I came in and checked on the interviews last
- 28:54Speaker 7: night and everything was running smooth, and I was like,
- 28:57Speaker 7: I'm out, you know, because I was here from like
- 28:59Speaker 7: five already. You know, I was like, hey, it's nine thirty,
- 29:02Speaker 7: I'm done, you know.
- 29:03Speaker 5: And you switched the schedule up a little bit this year. Yeah,
- 29:06Speaker 5: so practice is going to be a little bit later
- 29:07Speaker 5: than it normally.
- 29:08Speaker 7: Was well that end, and you'll find out in about
- 29:11Speaker 7: the twenty five minutes the players are going to start interviewing. Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 7: the interviews used to be at night. They were at
- 29:17Speaker 7: night last night because there was no practice yesterday. So
- 29:21Speaker 7: we had some community service things that we did and
- 29:23Speaker 7: which went off really really well, you know, but what
- 29:28Speaker 7: I did is doing that, I had to push back practice,
- 29:31Speaker 7: which asking the network and asking ESPN in the network,
- 29:36Speaker 7: the NFL network, it pushed.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Into primetime, so they were like, let's go.
- 29:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, because they're going to make more money
- 29:42Speaker 7: on the advertising dollars for the you know, the commercials.
- 29:45Speaker 4: You guys know, you're in media now. So that was
- 29:47Speaker 4: that was an issue. You know.
- 29:49Speaker 7: The issue was that I didn't want these guys to
- 29:52Speaker 7: be tied up like they were because they were interview
- 29:55Speaker 7: seven o'clock ten thirty every night.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and now they have.
- 29:59Speaker 7: The downtime as soon as we get done with the
- 30:00Speaker 7: programming after their meal, which is minimal, like it'll be
- 30:03Speaker 7: Merrill Lynch, you know, it'll be the you know, the
- 30:06Speaker 7: Panini night you know and all that, but they'll be
- 30:08Speaker 7: done like about eight thirty eight forty five. I have
- 30:10Speaker 7: some downtime be able to recover, they'll be able to
- 30:12Speaker 7: go to the training room, they'll be able to take
- 30:13Speaker 7: care of the bodies a little bit more, you know.
- 30:15Speaker 7: And that's what I wanted this to be about. I
- 30:16Speaker 7: wanted to be about the player, right, And yeah, we
- 30:20Speaker 7: pushed it back, and it also made it to where
- 30:23Speaker 7: the community can actually get there. You know, if somebody
- 30:25Speaker 7: worked till five, they can at least get an hour
- 30:27Speaker 7: of practice right and bring the child and meaning that's
- 30:30Speaker 7: something they couldn't do before because practice used to end
- 30:33Speaker 7: like at four point thirty. That's it, you know. But
- 30:35Speaker 7: then you know the problem, well not the problem. The
- 30:38Speaker 7: issue I heard from the agent was that, you know,
- 30:41Speaker 7: the player was like NonStop from like six o'clock all
- 30:44Speaker 7: the way to ten thirty, and it.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Was hard on them.
- 30:47Speaker 7: So I wanted to make it better for them, but
- 30:48Speaker 7: it made it better for everybody else too. So I
- 30:50Speaker 7: was like, all these guys just walking past.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Going, hey, I got an evening. I can actually go.
- 30:55Speaker 5: To dinner now.
- 30:56Speaker 7: I was like, yeah, you know, normally it's rundown to
- 30:59Speaker 7: Joe Cane are Chick fil A and you know, run
- 31:02Speaker 7: back over here. But now there's a lot of changes.
- 31:04Speaker 7: But I think it benefits everybody.
- 31:07Speaker 4: I really do.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Well.
- 31:08Speaker 6: You had some logistical challenges, that's probably that's probably the
- 31:13Speaker 6: source of having extra cocktail.
- 31:16Speaker 7: We monitored I mean, we monitored it so closely. And
- 31:20Speaker 7: we were sitting in the office last week, me and
- 31:22Speaker 7: Jack and he goes, yeah, he says, supposedly they're getting ice.
- 31:26Speaker 7: I said, no, they're getting ice in Dallas. And I said,
- 31:29Speaker 7: and I lived there, and I said, we need to
- 31:32Speaker 7: get them out now. And so we started on can
- 31:35Speaker 7: we get the hotel rooms. That was the biggest piece,
- 31:37Speaker 7: you know, because we didn't want to bring them in
- 31:39Speaker 7: and have nowhere.
- 31:40Speaker 4: To put them.
- 31:40Speaker 7: So we scrambled around, got rooms, you know, did all that,
- 31:43Speaker 7: and when it was all said and done, we had
- 31:46Speaker 7: about eighty six percent of them in here on Friday,
- 31:51Speaker 7: and now we're only missing one player and we're at
- 31:54Speaker 7: a full roster. One hundred or one hundred and twenty
- 31:57Speaker 7: five flight changes were made, and you know, felt sorry
- 32:01Speaker 7: for Jack because he was kind of helping the travel agent.
- 32:05Speaker 4: I was like, dude, you can't do that job too.
- 32:07Speaker 4: I was like, but he was.
- 32:08Speaker 7: He was doing a great job, and you know, and
- 32:11Speaker 7: again the logistics were just awful. But got the coaches here,
- 32:14Speaker 7: got the players here, and the weather's getting better and better.
- 32:18Speaker 7: You know, hang around long enough, Matt, it'll maybe be
- 32:21Speaker 7: sixty on Saturday. You never know, doubt here coming off
- 32:24Speaker 7: the water, it changes.
- 32:26Speaker 5: That's right. How many L Shoe guys ended up because
- 32:29Speaker 5: I know five initially I think three.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I think three. Yeah, I think it's I.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Think the final roster with two receivers, right, and Anderson
- 32:39Speaker 5: Brown then had nuts.
- 32:40Speaker 7: Yeah, and nus because we lost the other ones because
- 32:43Speaker 7: of injury.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean and j Hasty and Jack Pieburn, yes.
- 32:46Speaker 7: Yes, And trust me, if you knew Jack Piburn, you know,
- 32:49Speaker 7: and the way he is that he wanted to be
- 32:52Speaker 7: here and he was just like, I can't. And again,
- 32:56Speaker 7: I'm not going to push anybody, especially if they have
- 32:59Speaker 7: some kind of medical issue, because if they come down here,
- 33:03Speaker 7: I mean, you can get embarrassed down there.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you know if you're not getting fully healthy.
- 33:08Speaker 7: Yeah, well that's You've seen the guys that you know, hey,
- 33:13Speaker 7: maybe in small college guys or maybe been that fringe
- 33:15Speaker 7: guy that did get embarrassed down here.
- 33:18Speaker 4: But there's also.
- 33:19Speaker 7: Those guys that elevate themselves through the roof, you know,
- 33:21Speaker 7: and I think there's gonna be some of those guys
- 33:23Speaker 7: that elevate themselves through the roof down here.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Give me a small college guy. Maybe somebody that's under
- 33:28Speaker 5: the radar, because we were actually just talking about it
- 33:30Speaker 5: right before you came on. Somebody that you're looking forward
- 33:33Speaker 5: to seeing against, you know, power for guys each and
- 33:36Speaker 5: every day in practice.
- 33:37Speaker 7: Probably Ted Hurst, the receiver from Georgia State. I think
- 33:40Speaker 7: he'll surprise, you know, the Deming's kid from Steven F.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Austin.
- 33:45Speaker 7: You know, him and Malik Muhammad are a lot alike,
- 33:49Speaker 7: you know, just different resources, different schools. I mean, you
- 33:51Speaker 7: know he's gonna show that he belongs. You know, the
- 33:55Speaker 7: Montgomery kid we picked up, you know, from the American Bowl.
- 33:59Speaker 7: What was strange story, but a great story. I mean
- 34:01Speaker 7: Division one basketball commit, you know, showed out down there
- 34:05Speaker 7: and everybody told me, hey, you need to take a
- 34:08Speaker 7: peek of this kid. And I mean, because we didn't
- 34:10Speaker 7: look at him, ain't gonna like it. I didn't look
- 34:11Speaker 7: at him until he was down there. Then I had
- 34:13Speaker 7: access to the tape and I was like, yeah, this
- 34:16Speaker 7: guy belongs, you know. And I was like, you know again,
- 34:20Speaker 7: he didn't play because his Mom.
- 34:22Speaker 4: You know he was ill.
- 34:23Speaker 7: You know, he didn't take the basketball scholarship ends going
- 34:25Speaker 7: to John Carroll mean Division III school blows it up.
- 34:28Speaker 7: I mean, and we'll see. I mean, I think he'll
- 34:31Speaker 7: show he belongs and I think people will be really surprised.
- 34:35Speaker 4: I really do. Trying to think of the other any
- 34:37Speaker 4: other ones.
- 34:38Speaker 5: I was note with Johnson from San Diego State.
- 34:42Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't consider him kind of a sleeper because
- 34:45Speaker 7: he's he's actually got some really good tape and and
- 34:48Speaker 7: all the personnel people know him, you know, the Steven
- 34:51Speaker 7: f kid. I mean, it's like I don't know how
- 34:53Speaker 7: he stated Stephen Fan because I would have been a
- 34:55Speaker 7: general MANU. Yeah, you're not staying there.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Let's go. Let's go.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Drew kind up a loaded question here, but all you
- 35:06Speaker 6: it's already seven to forty.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Drew's your coffee, al right.
- 35:10Speaker 6: So I know that like all the stages that these kids,
- 35:12Speaker 6: these kids have to be on, like we talked about
- 35:14Speaker 6: it yesterday, like everything that they do from here till
- 35:17Speaker 6: next September is about making a football team, and it's
- 35:21Speaker 6: all maker. Everything they do is a make or break situation.
- 35:23Speaker 6: From how they talk to in these interviews, how do
- 35:25Speaker 6: they act in the meeting rooms, how they perform in
- 35:28Speaker 6: individuals and one on one team drills. Everything that they
- 35:31Speaker 6: do is about not getting cut or not getting so
- 35:34Speaker 6: Joel Thomas yesterday, one of the coaches here, coach coach
- 35:37Speaker 6: for the New Orleans Saints, kind of said, in these
- 35:39Speaker 6: interview processes, of course, we're looking for that one thing
- 35:42Speaker 6: that they say that makes them stick out in a
- 35:44Speaker 6: good way. We're also looking for the one thing that
- 35:46Speaker 6: might make us take somebody else. So of all the
- 35:49Speaker 6: things that they do, is there anything that sticks out
- 35:52Speaker 6: to you that is might make somebody slide or elevate
- 35:57Speaker 6: themselves more?
- 35:59Speaker 7: You know, I think that again this is this is
- 36:02Speaker 7: the NFL wants this to be part of the process,
- 36:05Speaker 7: and it is the draft does start and will be
- 36:07Speaker 7: the last time they put in the pads right against
- 36:09Speaker 7: the best of the best. That's what they want. They
- 36:11Speaker 7: want to see you compete against the best of the best.
- 36:14Speaker 7: Bottom line, And like you said, is there if you
- 36:18Speaker 7: don't fulfill the pieces of the process, whether it's the interviews,
- 36:21Speaker 7: like you said, being with the coaches, being on time,
- 36:23Speaker 7: being accountable, being mature, showing you're a professional. You know,
- 36:26Speaker 7: if you don't do that, then the check marks go away. Right, Well,
- 36:30Speaker 7: they want the check marks, they want the Senior Bowl.
- 36:32Speaker 7: They want you to go through the interviews, practice play
- 36:34Speaker 7: bam bam bam. Right, they want you to go to
- 36:36Speaker 7: the combine bam bam, bam right. Pro dame bam bam bam.
- 36:40Speaker 7: When you don't do the process the way the league
- 36:43Speaker 7: expects you to, it's gonna throw red flags up. And
- 36:47Speaker 7: it's also going to say, and here's the biggest thing
- 36:49Speaker 7: to me, how do you prove that you love the game?
- 36:53Speaker 5: Right?
- 36:53Speaker 7: Because you guys know, you've been in the locker room,
- 36:56Speaker 7: you've been in an NFL organization and in that building.
- 37:01Speaker 4: If you don't love the.
- 37:02Speaker 7: Game, the game will I mean the building and the
- 37:04Speaker 7: players will eat your ass a live.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:07Speaker 7: So again, if you can show that you love to play,
- 37:12Speaker 7: at least you got a chance, you know. And that's
- 37:15Speaker 7: because people and I always the quote, it wasn't a
- 37:18Speaker 7: magic you know, answer or answer question or whatever, but
- 37:23Speaker 7: I'd ask coaches, does he love to play?
- 37:26Speaker 5: Oh?
- 37:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 37:27Speaker 7: And I'd say, can you give me an example? Well,
- 37:30Speaker 7: guess what if it took two minutes to figure out example?
- 37:33Speaker 7: You know, that was that was no real, you know,
- 37:36Speaker 7: but a coach is never going to say, you know,
- 37:38Speaker 7: well he kind of likes it, you know, but they're
- 37:40Speaker 7: not going to say that.
- 37:41Speaker 5: Now.
- 37:42Speaker 7: A guy did tell me that a long time ago
- 37:43Speaker 7: in scout and he told me, this guy's in for
- 37:45Speaker 7: the money and everything else. And guess what he busted,
- 37:48Speaker 7: which was nice because I had a contact.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I mean, we went way back. But normally they don't
- 37:52Speaker 4: tell you. They don't.
- 37:54Speaker 7: So to answer your question, the biggest piece is how
- 37:56Speaker 7: can I show that I love to play and be
- 38:00Speaker 7: a professional, right bottom line? That's that's how simple this is.
- 38:04Speaker 7: If you don't go through the process, it hurts you.
- 38:06Speaker 7: There are some guys last year that didn't go through
- 38:08Speaker 7: the process and did not take it serious, did not
- 38:11Speaker 7: do it the right way. And guess what, they kept
- 38:13Speaker 7: sliding in the draft because buildings aren't comfortable with guys
- 38:17Speaker 7: that they get there every time you go. Or here's
- 38:22Speaker 7: the other thing the NFL wants to tell you, No, yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 7: they do, they do, and guess what you you let
- 38:29Speaker 7: them say no, that's what happens. Then you get cut
- 38:33Speaker 7: or you don't even make it there.
- 38:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say that's probably like the majority of
- 38:36Speaker 6: scout's job is to find reasons not to draft somebody.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Absolutely, and then if.
- 38:41Speaker 6: You find there's somebody that makes it through and he's
- 38:44Speaker 6: got no x's near his name, that's when you start
- 38:47Speaker 6: getting serious about that.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 38:48Speaker 7: We used to we used to say the cleaner the
- 38:50Speaker 7: higher you take somebody, the cleaner they have to be, right,
- 38:53Speaker 7: you know.
- 38:53Speaker 4: And and that's bottom line.
- 38:55Speaker 7: I mean, and again, I can punch holes in anybody, Okay,
- 38:59Speaker 7: But can I punch holes in somebody's character if they
- 39:02Speaker 7: got really good character? No, I can punch holes in
- 39:05Speaker 7: their game, right, sure, you know. But here's the other thing.
- 39:08Speaker 7: I think a lot of players character shows up on tape. Yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 7: and people don't grasp that until you watch enough of
- 39:16Speaker 7: a player, not highlights, I'm talking about game tape. Yeah,
- 39:21Speaker 7: because you know you'll see a guy take a playoff
- 39:23Speaker 7: here and there, or you'll see your hair on fire guy.
- 39:26Speaker 7: You know, you'll see lot, you'll see that's the first
- 39:29Speaker 7: guy in last Guy out.
- 39:30Speaker 4: You know, you just see it on tape. I mean
- 39:32Speaker 4: you can so just like eighteen.
- 39:35Speaker 7: Yet if you get an eighteen, guess what, Yeah, you've
- 39:39Speaker 7: already proved it.
- 39:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's perfect for our last question. That's all right,
- 39:45Speaker 5: all right, we got about ninety seconds left. Drew the
- 39:47Speaker 5: last guy to word, bradn l Shue, Garrett Nesmeyer. It
- 39:50Speaker 5: was like a giant week for him. The junior tape
- 39:53Speaker 5: is incredible, over four thousand yards in the sec uh,
- 39:56Speaker 5: the senior tape played through injury system, didn't work out,
- 39:59Speaker 5: did not have the year by any means that he
- 40:01Speaker 5: was hoping to have. Does he have the most to gain?
- 40:04Speaker 5: Maybe here at this year's game.
- 40:06Speaker 7: I would say yes, and just because again here and
- 40:09Speaker 7: I'm gonna and I'm gonna throw the media under the
- 40:11Speaker 7: bus on this one too.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Wasn't he like the.
- 40:13Speaker 7: Second rated quarterback in the draft, whenn't he like mocking
- 40:16Speaker 7: like a pick six, seven, eight, whatever, my first round? Okay, Now,
- 40:20Speaker 7: all of a sudden, you know he's roadkill. And like
- 40:23Speaker 7: you said, I can't unsee what I saw, Like you said,
- 40:26Speaker 7: four yards, twenty four touchdowns. I mean, there was no
- 40:29Speaker 7: way I was not gonna invite Garrett to this game,
- 40:31Speaker 7: right because they didn't protect well, he was hurt. The receivers,
- 40:34Speaker 7: you know, the half of them didn't produce like they
- 40:36Speaker 7: were supposed to. Couldn't run the ball. I mean, there's
- 40:40Speaker 7: so many things that went against him. Well, when you're
- 40:42Speaker 7: evaluating a guy, you go, why, you know, why are
- 40:45Speaker 7: the why is this happened? Well, he's gonna come down here,
- 40:48Speaker 7: and I'm gonna say this flat out.
- 40:50Speaker 4: The media will be talking about.
- 40:51Speaker 7: Him at the end of the week and like, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 7: he could possibly get back into the first round, no kidding,
- 40:57Speaker 7: no kidding, because the traits are already there. The production
- 41:01Speaker 7: was already there, you know. And now it's like, oh, well,
- 41:04Speaker 7: you know he got beat up. You know, well they
- 41:05Speaker 7: didn't play. Well, yeah, it was it his fault, right,
- 41:08Speaker 7: you know, if you watch enough tape you know it's not.
- 41:11Speaker 7: But again, a lot of people don't watch tape. They
- 41:14Speaker 7: just talk yeah you know. So and again I pride
- 41:18Speaker 7: myself on doing that and put this way. I invited
- 41:21Speaker 7: him in August. Now I didn't put the official invite
- 41:23Speaker 7: out there. Yeah, oh you know, because I can't. But
- 41:25Speaker 7: I told him, I said, look, you're coming the mobile.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 7: And then you know, midway through the year, people are
- 41:30Speaker 7: going like you still bring a nusmar Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure,
- 41:33Speaker 7: em ye, you know sure I am.
- 41:35Speaker 5: I love that. We God, Drew, we got to go,
- 41:37Speaker 5: you're the man. We appreciate. We'll be here all week,
- 41:40Speaker 5: so looking forward to hanging out senior practice today.
- 41:42Speaker 7: I'd like guys enjoy yourselves and hopefully the weather get
- 41:45Speaker 7: warm enough or we won't be freezing a little bit.

- 43:17Speaker 5: Oh geez, we are live here from the Panini Senior.
- 43:21Speaker 5: But of course our coverage brought to you by First
- 43:23Speaker 5: American Bank and Trust. Any waving out there, Buddy, U
- 43:27Speaker 5: nuts nuts bus? Say nuts, buss? How's it going, Bud?
- 43:30Speaker 5: My back's turn so I can't say hi. I'm giving
- 43:32Speaker 5: in the backwards way kind of awkera of the backwards well,
- 43:35Speaker 5: laundry just fixed the cord. The cord was tangled up
- 43:38Speaker 5: a little bit, daring drew, and I felt like I
- 43:40Speaker 5: was like in a just a screwdriver type position, like awkward. Yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 5: nobody holds full back one down like a cord. Well, yeah,
- 43:52Speaker 5: because I was about to full back one rip it
- 43:54Speaker 5: out of this thing, me like, no work. I don't
- 44:04Speaker 5: see any fullbacks in here though, week no grit in
- 44:07Speaker 5: this room, right, they must be uh getting interviewed. They're
- 44:11Speaker 5: still getting first up. The're still getting their measurements. Actually
- 44:13Speaker 5: they couldn't believe them.
- 44:18Speaker 6: So speaking of maggies, five nine, seven eighths, H yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 6: diego Pavia yesterday the.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Most famous heights in America. The only one I saw
- 44:28Speaker 5: yesterday from obviously, like it's the only one I saw
- 44:31Speaker 5: from any media outlet. And he did just walk by
- 44:34Speaker 5: us and H five nine and seven eights. You said
- 44:38Speaker 5: seven eights. Y. Anytime that you throw the seven eights
- 44:42Speaker 5: out there, it's not good. But just like when I
- 44:44Speaker 5: ask you how tall you are and you always say
- 44:47Speaker 5: sixteen a quarter exactly, so you want to be six.
- 44:50Speaker 6: In our day, they used to measure by the quarter inch.
- 44:53Speaker 6: Now they're going by the eighth, which is a little rude.
- 44:55Speaker 5: I feel like, okay, well, people tell me, like I
- 44:59Speaker 5: measured five eleven the combine. I don't think I'm five eleven.
- 45:01Speaker 5: I think I'm five to ten, So I tell people
- 45:03Speaker 5: five to ten. I don't give him any you can
- 45:06Speaker 5: and a half. I don't you don't believe the measuring tape.
- 45:10Speaker 5: I feel like I shrunk after so many ISOs.
- 45:13Speaker 6: Okay in the air now, yeah, yeah, go see a.
- 45:17Speaker 5: Chiropractor for that. Uh Badge of Honor.
- 45:24Speaker 6: Quarterbacks measurements. Taylor Grain six six yea's ray, how's the
- 45:29Speaker 6: air up there?
- 45:30Speaker 5: Taylor?
- 45:30Speaker 6: Yeah, seriously slower. Robinson six three and a half. Luke
- 45:35Speaker 6: Altmeyer six foot one and two eights. Some would say
- 45:38Speaker 6: one quarter carrottnus Meyer six foot one then zero eights.
- 45:44Speaker 6: That's good for him, though. Cole Peyton six foot two,
- 45:46Speaker 6: three eighths. Diego Pavia five nine seven eighths. It's a
- 45:51Speaker 6: weird eight eight eight thing is weird, Like if they
- 45:54Speaker 6: went by a quarter he'd get rounded up there.
- 45:55Speaker 5: All right, Well, hopefully we'll catch up with one of
- 45:58Speaker 5: those quarterbacks here in our number two of OTV.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Off the bench, Off the bench.
- 46:05Speaker 5: Well, there's a lot of a youthful spirit here in
- 46:09Speaker 5: this room right now. Reminds me of myself eighteen years
- 46:13Speaker 5: ago being in this very hallway going into these very meetings.
- 46:19Speaker 5: But when I try to do what they do now,
- 46:21Speaker 5: it's not the same. Until I went to a medic
- 46:26Speaker 5: You go location that's going to be near you in Louisiana.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Nobody where you're listening to this, It doesn't matter from
- 46:32Speaker 5: top to bottom, everywhere in between. There is a location
- 46:35Speaker 5: in the state of Louisiana that's going to be convenient
- 46:37Speaker 5: for you. We passed through Mississippi on the way here.
- 46:39Speaker 5: They got one in Mississippi as well. Go to re
- 46:42Speaker 5: juth me medical dot com. Yeah, go check them out.
