- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, thank you for joining me once again.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: I have a question for you as I often do.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever been in one of those circumstances where you were tired of waiting?
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: Just tired of the monotony, the minutia, the lack of any four direction.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you've been in an airport before.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you've been in a DMV or whatever your state calls it.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm talking about?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: There are a few things that can drive me up a wall like what feels like unnecessary waiting.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: I have prayed for patients before and you know what they say about that.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you pray for it, God might just try to work it out of you.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: He may try to cause you to be more patient and give you opportunities to exercise that attribute.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think of my father.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: that old military quote he was in the army for many years, hurry up and wait.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about us waiting on God.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking today in this week about God waiting on us.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to find our scripture in Deuteronomy chapter 1.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Deuteronomy chapter 1 is where we will be at an invite you to join me.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to thank each and every one of you our long time listeners and viewers.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: If you listen on a podcast, maybe you watch on YouTube, if you find us on the VCYTV or maybe you listen on at one of the myriad of radio stations nationwide and some internationally that carry Bible Trek echoes, I want to thank you for that.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I have the grant of privilege of being the director of Bible Tracks Incorporated, and I'm not so up at about that title whatsoever.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm much more proud of the fact that God has let me be a father.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let me be husband to my beautiful wife.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: But God, my vocation, he's called me to be the director of this ministry and an evangelist.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: And as an evangelist and a tenorate preacher, traveling hither and yon, I'm in airports a lot.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in lines a lot, sometimes you're waiting on a rental car, sometimes you're waiting on a ticket to check in all these different types of places, but sometimes.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: And there may be no place where the sweat begins to trickle down your back more, where the lack of air circulation feels more stifling than when you've already checked your bags.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: You've waited in the security lines.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: You opened up and taken out your laptops and all those types of things.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: You've waited at the gate.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: You've been there maybe an hour or two or three early, depending on your layover situation.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then you get on the plane.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Knowing me, I'm not sitting in first class or business class.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I ever have in my life.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if I ever
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and so I'm normally one of those guys getting on the plane at the end in group 3, 4, 5 or 6 I don't even know if they have a group 7, but I'd be in it probably and there you are finally walking on the plane Is the Lord would have it usually there's a spot to put your bag I'm a longer individual I'm about six foot two putting them underneath my feet is not where I want to put the bag So I find a place up top and then you sit down
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then maybe you have that faint hope as you push away from the jetway, push away from the terminal, and then some point at some point in between where you're taxiing and as you try to get to whatever run where you're supposed to be, you trust those two men or women in the nice freshly pressed white shirts sitting as Captain and Copilot up front.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: We put our lives in their hands.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: and they taxi us to where we're supposed to be, but there are the times, and these might be the most difficult of all, when you stop on the jetway.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: when you stop on the taxi area.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: When you stop anywhere before, you already feel like I'm supposed to be taking off.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: I can almost feel like I'm home, even when I think of in particular, a specific time my wife and I were traveling back from Kenya.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we were getting on a plane, like a love and a clock and night.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: At least that's when it was scheduled to leave DiRoby.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Nairobi Airport,
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: They had three power outages in the two hours I was there, which means all the systems reset.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: Not just for airplanes and things, but also for the check-in and the cause massive issues delayed things.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so we asked them, we checked in at like 10, 50, the line was so long.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And we asked, I'm assuming the plane is being delayed for everybody, right?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's like 30 people in line behind me waiting on this plane to JFK, so I can get to Chicago and they say our system says it's still taking off on time.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: liars.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Of course it was delayed.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't get on the plane, we didn't get through security and all that regular moral until after midnight.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then we sit on the plane.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then we sit on the plane some more.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we continue sitting on the plane.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: And we got to a place where I was saying to myself and maybe even out loud, this has gone on.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: long enough.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I'll be honest with you that the last few days of the Kenya trip back in December, I had gotten a little bit sick.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't seem to be anything I'd eaten or would have you just had some tailbone trouble.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds great, getting on a plane for 15 hours.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds marvelous, doesn't it?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the morning.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in bellish in the story, all right, but in all seriousness, I was thinking this plane is going to mean air 15 and a half hours once we take off and we took off like what do we do?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: We missed our flight from JFK to Chicago and so we got bumped 78 almost nine hours to a flight in the evening where we landed in JFK in the morning.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: We waited some more.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: We finally made it.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: After we had waited in my mind, long enough.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens when you travel and you deal with those types of things.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: But what about a Christian life?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think God has ever gotten to a place in your life?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: Where he has said, All right, son, all right, daughter, long enough.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: I've waited, meaning he has waited long enough for you to get moving.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to look at a passage of scripture.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to be chapped to one?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Would you look there with me?
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to begin in verse number one, read down through maybe verse number eight and here we're going to find our text.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: theme for this week.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Do don't want to be one one says these be the words, which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: In the plane, over against the Red Sea between Perin and Tofu and Labanin has Roth and Dysahab, there are 11 days journey verse 2 from horror by the way of Mount Seer under Ketish Barney.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it came to pass in the
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: In the 11th month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke unto the children of Israel.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: According unto all, that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: After he had slain Sihan, the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Hechban, and awed the king of Bayshan, which dwelt at Asteroth and Ederi, on this side Jordan, in the land of Moab began Moses to declare this law, saying,
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: You have a pause for just a moment, you realize of course that multiple times in Scripture, God has his man in these passages at least, namely Moses, rehash the previous occurrences, the history that has brought them to this point.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: How God created the world, yes, and how God brought his people out of Egypt, and how they disobeyed him in the wilderness, and all those types of things that
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: and the cursing and the moaning and all these occurrences have been rehearsed in their years of multitude of times.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I was reading recently, I have a message just percolating inside me about remembering and how often God has his people or endeavors to cause his people to remember.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the theme for today.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: But here we are on the cusp of a remembrance.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: but there's also a challenge right off the bat.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Look at verse number six, the Lord.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Our God, speak unto us in horror.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, this is Moses declaring the law.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord our God, speak unto us in horror saying, you have dwelt long enough in this mount.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: This is God through his man, the auspices of Holy Spirit, remembering
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: memorializing something that happened previously.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Bably, there's a grave challenge here.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Verse 7.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: God speaking, turn you, and take your journey, and go to the Mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh they are unto in the plain, and in the hills, in the veil, and in the south, and by the seaside, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river of the river you fraties behold, I have set the land before you.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: Go in and possess the land, which the Lord swear unto your father's Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give unto them, and to their seat after them.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of a complete thought here, but it begins with this implication, this challenge, this notice.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: It almost sounds like something that would be put up on a billboard and offices corporate they ask, hey, did you get the memo?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: My question is Christian friend, have you gotten the memo like the Israelites did here about long enough?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord our God spaked to us in Hobbes saying, ye have dwelt long enough.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to move on.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And that's my challenge to you today, and this week we're going to look at at least three different areas.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: We'll begin tomorrow with
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: three different areas that it may be time to move on.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest with you.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes I like to stew in my own juices.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: I like to just revel in my rebellion.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: I like to just stay in my seclusion.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: but Christians are called, both in our lives and at the end of our lives we are called onward and upward.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: My question is will you heed the call today in this week?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the Holy Spirit is already convicting you about something you have dwelt long enough with, some sin, maybe just some attitude, some mindset that it's time to move on from.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: My question is will you heed that call?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: today.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: Now before we go any further I want to tell you I'd love to hear from you.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just the other day I got an encouraging text from a friend, a KC, if you're listening right now in Philadelphia, can I tell you what a blessing your text was to me?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: I truly honestly, to read it, just not that long ago, to read that faithfulist, or he wakes up with this program just about every day.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Casey, thank you for that, but thank you for the kind words you also said.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd love to hear from you, maybe you're not Casey for Philadelphia, but you'd like to text in.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to hear from you.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're a comment.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to hear it.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you have a criticism.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear that too because I've found in every critique There is always a grain of truth something I can learn from but maybe you just have a question I'd love to answer that for you.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can text me at three zero nine three one six seven two four Zero.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give it to you one more time real slow text me directly at three zero nine
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: 3, 1, 6, 7, 2, 4, 0.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow on the broadcast, we're going to continue and we're going to get practical about this thought of long enough.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to apply to where you live and unfortunately where I live, maybe I'll get convicted a little bit more tomorrow.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for tuning in.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Mike McCurney, but listening to Bible Trek echoes and I'm so thankful that you have
