2:47

2:51
one reason. Another hand of Gardner from the Canal Charles remain associations here with
2:54
this week's dot me Please pet the week Hannah, good morning, welcome to
2:58
the show. Are you I'm fine? Welcome back, say welcome back,
3:02
because two weeks ago we had to take your slot for flood coverage, which
3:07
is understandable. Last week, you had a situation going on with one of
3:09
your pets at home. And I don't want to get too personal here,
3:13
Hannah, but but just to prove that shelter workers are actually people too,
3:16
and you love your pets as much as we do. What was going on?
3:20
And is everything okay? My little little little chihuah Wa she had a
3:27
broken little leg and she had to actually get it amputated because no other surgery
3:31
for her would work at the moment. So she is doing well. She
3:36
actually doesn't even I don't even think she realizes but the leg is gone.
3:39
She acts in the little she's running and jumping, which I try to get
3:43
her not to, but it's healing and she is getting her stitches out that
3:46
day. What's her name? Her name is Annie, Annie Annie. So
3:51
Annie is doing well. That is that's certainly good. That's that's wild that
3:53
you said that she doesn't even realize it's gone. Yeah, she literally just
3:59
acts like it's still there, like you can see her shoulder like you know,
4:01
I'm sure she doesn't even realize. She had no idea she was getting
4:04
it done, but she still moves her shoulder a little bit and you can
4:09
tell she's trying to paw at you and stuff, but there's no leg.
4:13
Okay, well, I'm glad it all turned out well because anytime you're dealing
4:15
with animals or humans and it comes to surgery, you never know what can
4:18
happen. Complications can happen, So we were kind of concerned about it last
4:21
week, but we're glad everything turned out well. Let's talk about this week's
4:25
about me. Please put her the week. Her name is miss Piggy and
4:29
as always pictures posted Dave Aland Radio on Facebook of the Dave Allen Show on
4:32
X I have to say, I love the name that you told me that
4:36
Miss Piggy was dropped off as I guess astray er, I've just dropped off
4:41
to the shelter. Any idea though about the story or of the story of
4:44
the name or was that just the name that you all gave her at the
4:46
shelter. So well, she was kind of dropped at the shelter, so
4:53
we weren't really able to get much information. However, the what we were
4:58
left with was her name is miss Peggy and that she's bilingual. So we
5:03
we tried out some like Spanish. Hold on, hold hold on, hold
5:08
on, kid. You said this to me in a text last night when
5:11
you sit in the picture. You said, the dog is bilingual. All
5:14
right, Explain to me why you think it was. Spanish is the language
5:18
of choice for miss Piggy? All right? How do we know this?
5:23
Well, it had said Spanish on it, So we just tried a few
5:26
words and she looks at chip, but she doesn't really do anything, So
5:30
we really honestly have no idea if she is or not. Of course,
5:34
you know, whoever adopts her or whoever fosters her can try it out and
5:39
see if it really or she really is, but we really aren't having much
5:44
luck with it, so we don't think that she might. Maybe, And
5:47
I don't know how long we've been doing this segment. I had like two
5:49
years or something like that. This may be the first time we've ever had
5:53
possibly a bilingual dog on the show. But Miss Piggy is a beautiful,
5:58
beautiful dog, a little little shepherd in there. Maybe, oh yeah,
6:01
I would say, so, yeah. I'm not what else she would be.
6:05
But she kind of gives me like a kida a little bit. But
6:09
I don't know. Well, she's definitely a beautiful dog. You give us
6:13
the whole story on Miss Piggie, right. So, she was dropped at
6:17
the shelter. We didn't really get much information on her other than what I've
6:21
said thus far. She is estimated to be around two years old. We
6:27
aren't we go out like their gums and their teeth, so she could be
6:30
a little bit older, a little bit younger, but she's around two.
6:33
She has a female of course, she's not fixed yet, but she will
6:36
be before she goes home. And if we cannot get her fixed before she
6:42
goes home, if that's a situation, she will definitely be brought back within
6:45
the next week or two weeks or something like that. Now she is up
6:50
to date on her shot and she in playgroups with all the other dogs.
6:55
She's very, very playful with them. She actually prefers the more playful dogs.
7:00
She seems to be kid friendly from what we've seen. Of course,
7:02
I will say it every single time. I always always advised caution with kids,
7:08
especially when your kids have not been around animals before. But other than
7:12
that, she she does pool slightly on the leash a little bit, so
7:15
she definitely could use a little bit of training with that, just some like
7:18
toaxing with that and stuff. But she is a sweetie. She's very,
7:23
very very loving, she's very smart, and she would make a really good
7:27
family dog. I think. So if you want to, you could come
7:30
up and you could take her for a walk. You could even foster her
7:33
for night or two and see how she does with maybe your animals or in
7:36
your home. But she's definitely ready for a home and she is ready to
7:42
be her cute, funny self in a home. She's a beautiful dog and
7:46
again was always there. The picture of mss Piggy posted at Dave Allen Radio
7:50
on Facebook and the Dave Allen Show on X Hannah, how are we doing
7:56
since the U haul incident up there? You know, we're doing as good
8:00
as we can. We've been trucking along with trying to make sure everything's going
8:05
smooth as possible. Still, we still have a lot of animals out in
8:09
foster home, and we see a few more coming into the shelter each day.
8:13
You know, it's case by case on what we take in. I
8:16
believe right now it just kind of depends on everything. But we're trying to
8:22
stay under a certain amount right now until we get started on construction and stuff
8:26
like that. I have not heard an update quite yet on what's different.
8:31
I know that we are supposed to see some big changes here soon, so
8:37
maybe next week I'll have some more information on the actual building. All right,
8:41
So I know it's been a slow process since that accident happened a couple
8:43
of weeks ago, and there's talking maybe folks, you know, hopefully finding
8:48
a new location, which I'm sure everybody there would be excited about it if
8:50
and when that does happen. You've been posting a lot more pictures of cats
8:54
here on the on the social media. What's up with that? Yeah,
8:58
so season is definitely in swing. We've had a lot of mamas with babies.
9:05
We've had kittens that are available for adoption that have been coming up,
9:09
but of course, you know, those kittens go fast. Everybody's been waiting
9:15
for kittens, So we definitely say keep an eye out on our website and
9:18
if you do have interest in any of them, you can come on up
9:22
and look at them, or you can even call us and we can give
9:24
you more information on whoever it is that you're looking at. If we know
9:30
more information on them, but a lot of the kittens are just being brought
9:33
up by the public or even some of our officers maybe finding them. But
9:37
we definitely are in kittens season. The daya Island showing five AA Live brought

9:56
So go ahead and get your tickets if you're still then I believe we just
10:01

10:07
the comments to get some tickets. So if you're wanting to go and you
10:09
haven't gotten them yet, definitely go check that out and definitely give it a
10:13
shot because it is so fun. There's so much, there's food, there's
10:16
live music, all kinds of stuff, so definitely come on out. Yeah,
10:18
actually I reposted I shared the video that you guys did on my Facebook
10:24
page Dave Allen Radio, So if you want to see it and we'll be
10:26
talking about it, I guess in detail next week because it's what night?
10:31
Is it Friday or Saturday? What did you say? I'm sorry, it's
10:33
Saturday night. Thanks, Saturday night. So we'll have time to talk about
10:35
it on next Friday's show a little bit hopefully, hopefully we'll be talking about
10:39
a scarcity of tickets at that point. That's what we'd like to hear,
10:43
right, yes, of course. All right, and a gardener from the
10:46
Cannala Charlestony Made Association. I do appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot.
10:50
We'll talk again next week. All right, thank you, thank you.
10:54
It is nine eighteen again our adopt me please put it the week from
10:58
the Cannal Charleston Man Association. Miss Piggy is a Nape Ryan maybe a bilingual
11:03
dog. First time ever on the show. We may have had a bilingual
11:07
dog. Two years old. Female was dropped off at shelter. Not fixed
11:11
yet but will be. All shots are up to date. Miss Piggy prefers
11:16
playful dogs. Seems to be kid friendly, but you know, again we
11:18
always advise like hany let's say, as we always advise caution in that respect.
11:24
Needs a little bit of work on the leash, but nothing that can't
11:26
be approved upon again. Very a young dog, definitely got some shepherd in
11:31
her. Beautiful dog, very playful. If you're looking for a great family
11:35
dog, this would be the dog for you. Miss Piggy is her name,
11:39
and if you want to see what Miss Piggy looks like again, you
11:41
can go over to my social media it's Dave Alan Radio or you can go

12:03
This is in reference to Crewton, which is our big success story that we
12:07
had on the adopt Me Please for the Week. Creuton was adopted a couple
12:09
of years ago by a great family I think from the St Albans area and
12:13
just been a fantastic dog. I've been following Crewton. Creuton has got social
12:18
media presence right with chronicles of Crewton and the folks that adopted Crewton send me
12:24
pictures from time to time and last year they brought Crewton out to see me
12:28
as I was MCing all the festivities at the West Virginia Food Truck Festival at
12:31

17:12

17:18
here i Condon County. Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
17:19
Sorry about that, Thanks Dave, That's okay. I wasn't too scared,
17:23
but thank you for having me. First of all, well, thank you
17:26
for being here. I do appreciate you being to give us a biol on.
17:29
Shawn Krozer, tell us about you. Well, I've been around for
17:32
quite a while now. I came here back in about nineteen eighty four and
17:36
went to West Virginia State College. Back then played some baseball under Calm Bailey.
17:42
Hurt my arm, and of course I had to stop there. But
17:47
I joined the Kanaal County Sheriff's Department in nineteen eighty seven after some testing and
17:53
all the civil service testing that's included there written test, which is an aptitude
17:59
type test. It's a physical ability test and a good background. So started
18:04
as a deputy sheriff in nineteen eighty seven and traveled through that journey until twenty
18:11
fifteen. Rose to the rank of captain, and each promotion is also vetted
18:17
by civil service. So it's a testing process. So I finally retired after
18:22
twenty seven years, six weeks and two days. Got it, like,
18:26
you've already done the math on the all time. I just guessed that,
18:30
yes, So why do you want to be sheriff? Now? Oh gosh,
18:33
Well, my family has been in law enforcement since about nineteen forty so
18:38
I was doing the math, and we've been in law enforcement since sy for
18:44
about eighty four years now. I have my grandfather was a conservation officer.
18:49
My dad was Back then it was called a game warden. My dad was
18:53
a conservation officer, and then he was sheriff of Monroe County for two terms.
18:57
He actually spent Now you know, it's prince Monroe County, right,
19:02
Monroe? What I say, I'm just kidding from there. I'm just kidding
19:07
this is it Monroe? Is it Monroe? It's Monroe. But if you're
19:11
from there, it's money Monroe. I'm just missing with you. That's okay.
19:15
I've said that before myself. I'm just kidding with you. So yeah,
19:18
make a long story short. It's always been in our blood. Uh.
19:22
I've got a son that's a deputy sheriff. A nephew's a deputy sheriff
19:26
and a nephew's a state trooper, and uh, it really isn't any one.
19:30
It sure is. And I've had other uncles that were in law enforcement
19:33
as well. So what is the biggest needs of the department. Oh well,
19:38
certainly, I mean if you have if you look every day you turn
19:42
on the news, there's some sort of violent activity going on, and the
19:47
fact of the matter is it's normally extremely violent. A lot of people are
19:51
losing their lives. I think if you look at that root problem, there's
19:55
always a nexus to some sort of controlled substance, whether it be drugs.
20:00
Of course alcohol is not a controlled substance, but in addition to that,
20:04
a lot of it serves for mental health. We have a huge mental health
20:08
problem in this country right now, and I think it's driving the violence,
20:14
it's driving the demand for drugs. It's some sort of escape or outlet.
20:21
I mean, I think, and I don't think anybody would disagree with you
20:23
on that. Again, we're talking with Sean Crozer, who's a candidate for
20:26
sheriff here in Cannock Condey. You're a registered what Republican register Republican? All
20:30
right? Always have to ask that sure. So it's just not easy today
20:33
being the cop in today's society, is it not. My listeners have heard
20:37
me say this time and time again. The two jobs I probably wouldn't want
20:41
to go into being a cop or being a teacher right now. So it's
20:48
just not easy, and we're having trouble getting people wanting to go into the
20:52
ranks of being a police officer across the board. Right when I tested back
20:56
in nineteen eighty seven, we had nearly three hundre citizens that want to be
21:03
a deputy sheriff. The last ten years that I worked, I coordinated all
21:08
of our hiring process, our testing process, all of the civil service required
21:14
events that a person has to go through to become a deputy sheriff. And
21:18
initially we would have maybe one hundred and fifty candidates that went all the way
21:26
down to maybe eighty seventy that took the test I think my last year.
21:33
And then you have to consider backgrounds. Backgrounds aren't nearly as clean as what
21:37
they used to be. Sometimes you even had we had to lower our standards
21:42
just a little bit, not much, but just a little bit to try
21:45
to find some good candidates. I mean, I can and again, this
21:49
is something I hear from various departments. It is their city police or and
21:53
it doesn't matter how big the town there, it's a national trend. If
21:57
you are elected sheriff, Sean, what are you going to do to try
22:02
to make this job more attractive to people to get people to want to go
22:04
into it? Well, and I will give some applied to our current administration
22:11
there. I think they've done well a great job at working with the County
22:15
Commission building the initial pay. Kids look at money for first of all,
22:22
and then they then they think about what they want to do for the rest
22:26
of their life. Unfortunately, they should be what they wanted. They should
22:30
look at first what they want to do for the rest of their life and
22:32
then consider how much it pays. But so they've done a good job there,
22:37
and I think if we get out and just do a better recruiting reach
22:41
out to the colleges, all of the colleges former military always they always seem
22:48
to make really really good officers because they're already squared away. They've they've been
22:53
through hard training, which it helps it. They go through the state Police
23:02
Academy normally with a breeze at that point because they've already had the tough training
23:06
they have and the discipline too. And the discipline, yes, Sir,
23:07
is the beggest part of it, absolutely, But a valance on five any

23:33
Kanaw County. If you are elected, what are some of the changes you'd
23:36
like to bring to the officer programs you'd like to implement. We talked about
23:38
the hiring, but give us an idea of some of the things you may
23:41
like to do. I want to reinstitute a very robust community policing section.
23:48
Now what does that entail. Well, Intel's reconnecting with the citizens to find
23:53
out the needs in their neighborhood. Every time that I go around the neighborhoods
23:57
now, I asked, hey, do you know who your deputy sheriff is?
24:02
And they just look at me, look at me funny, like,
24:04
of course I don't know who they are, but they should know. They
24:08
should know the local deputy sheriff that works that area on a first name basis,
24:14
so they can build that trust and be able to call when something's going
24:17
on in their neighborhood. Because right now, and it has been for years,
24:21
the citizens don't know who to call, that who they number one,
24:26
who they can trust, because if they don't trust someone, they're not going
24:29
to call them because if they don't trust someone, they're afraid their house is
24:33
going to be burnt, burnt down, or they're going to be the victim
24:37
of a drive by shooting. So I want to create a real robust community
24:41
policing section. And we've lost an entire generation of children to drugs. I
24:48
mean that kind of goes without saying. So we have to get back in
24:52
the drug education business and at all levels, elementary, middle and high schools,
24:57
we have to drive home the danger of drugs. And when we're doing
25:03
that, we're going to be connecting with that younger generation first of all,
25:08
and so that's going to facilitate much better communication as things go as life goes
25:18
on. But we can't just educate. We have to also take the drugs
25:22
off the street, and they've been doing really good job with that as well.
25:25
It's tough, it's an uphill battle. But thirdly, we have to
25:30
reduce the demand. You can take all the food out of the stores,
25:34
but somebody's going to find a place to go eat. Well, you can
25:37
take all the drugs off the street, but addicts are going to find a
25:41
place or find a new method, a new drug or whatever to reach that
25:47
high. So we have to work with the addicts to help reduce that demand.
25:52
So it's multifaceted. Does that go back to the mental health aspect that
25:55
we take it? Sure does, yes, sir. I thank everybody would
25:57
agree we have a mental health crisis in this country. I don't actually know
26:00
how to address it to Shaan Kroscher's there again, a candidate for sheriff in
26:06
Kanac County. How's the campaign been so far? Sean, It's gone really
26:08
well. I'm very pleased. Feedback is absolutely miraculous. And when I say
26:14
it's miraculous. It's truly a miracle, and I'm very very pleased with what
26:22
I'm getting from what I'm hearing. One way or the other, there will
26:25
be a new sheriff in one way or the other, yes, because mister
26:27
Rutherford is term limited. Out. When you're out on the campaign trail and
26:33
you're either going to a to door, going to candidate's forums, or whatever
26:37
it is you may be doing, what do you hear from the public,
26:40
Sean, Well, they're all concerned about the violence in their neighborhoods, and
26:44
there in lies the community policing program. A good community policing program can reduce
26:49
crime rates anywhere from ten to forty percent. So it's a no brainer.
26:56
If you do the same things that you've always done, expect for better results
27:00
doesn't happen, right, So we have to change something and do something different.
27:04
Well, community deplexing programs around the nation have proven themselves. They pay
27:11
dividend to the citizens. So without a doubt, if I'm elected at Sheriff
27:15
Kennall County, We're gonna start that program back up again. It's been twenty
27:21
some years since we've had any sort of formidable community depleting program. Do you
27:27
have a website social media Facebook, anything you want to do? Yes,
27:32
sir, I'm sorry to interrupt right a little quick on the trigger there,
27:36
Yes, sir. Facebook is Sewn Krazer for SHAREFF. I also have a
27:41
website that's crozierf sheriff dot com And you can jump on any of those and
27:49
find out a little bit about me and if you see what you like,
27:52
I would absolutely love to have your vote. I can promise it'll pay off
27:59
for you with crime rate reduction and rapport with the sheriff's office. All right,
28:04
final thirty, what makes you the better candidate for sheriff? Well,
28:07
I think that my twenty seven plus years in the sheriff's all in the Kanaal
28:12
County Sheriff's Office. At the time I retired, I had been there over
28:18
half of my life, and I rode from the bottom to the top by
28:25
merit. I was in the administration for the last ten years, so I
28:30
know how the ins and outs and how that department runs and how it should
28:36
run, and what we can do better to better help the citizens. And
28:42
that's what it's all about. We need to help the citizens. They pay
28:47
our salaries. John I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot, best
28:49
to luck to you out on the campaign trail. Well, thank you,
28:52
David. It was also always a pleasure to be here with you. I
28:55
appreciate you. I appreciate you being here. Twenty four minutes away from ten.

32:22
Stewart, they're going to fight it in court too, as they as they
32:23
should. Well, maybe get in that a little bit more next week.
32:27
Finally something that can unite all these people. I guess was that ruling out
32:31
of Washington yesterday. And we knock, got a couple of texts here,
32:35
and I want to talk about some fun stuff. Tex says, I'm a
32:37
millennial. I remember drug education schools say marijuana was just as dangerous as heroin
32:42
or cocaine. Hopefully that'll get changed in modern drug education. Tex says,
32:46
the news always says violence on because violence gets views, which in turn drives
32:52
advertisement. Let's not forget that the news is a for profit industry and profits
32:55
come from advertising. Violence happens every day, so do great things. But
33:00
great things don't get views and don't sell ad slots. The world is not
33:05
any work today than has been before, it, says a Texter. There
33:09
is a lot of truth to that. Violent crime mostly down, and people
33:15
when they talk about I've you know, you've heard me railing and I promise,
33:19
guys, I'm we'll get to my guest here in just a couple of
33:21
moments. They heard me rail about kids not riding school buses, and they
33:24
talk about the safety issues and whatever. Yeah, your kids safer today than
33:29
what they were when I was a kid in the nineteen cent They're also more
33:31
likely to be kidnapped in the nineteen seventies than they are now, too.
33:34
That's a fact. That's a fact. Texts okay already read that when Tex
33:39
says, uh, crime is out of control. I called for help and
33:44
they beat me up. All right, sounds like maybe you need to call
33:46
someone else, Tex says Dave. The sheriff is the only law enforcement elected
33:51
by the people. And not appointed. Thus they are truly the last line
33:54
of local defense of the Constitution against out of control governments. Little Detective Kroezeer
34:00
refused to follow unconstitutional orders as a Texter. A couple of people that always
34:06
follow the Constitution and the Bible and the Ten Commandments and all the above,
34:10
the Bill of Rights and all the other stuff. Is Kelly Steele from the
34:14
Putnam County cv B. How are you. I'm just I'm doing great.
34:17
It's Friday. I'm just like making stuff up. Well, that sounds great,
34:21
that's probably true. I don't know about always. Evan Osborne's here from
34:25
Capitol Market. How are you, man? Fantastic. I appreciate you both
34:30
being here today. And the reason I had you both on today was because
34:32
it's Friday, and I'm tired and I really don't want to do the rest
34:35
of the show, so I'm just gonna turn it over to you. But
34:37
Kelly, tomorrow, you your folks, the CVB folks, and the Puttnam
34:43
County Chamber of Commerce kind of team up for this thing for the West Virginia
34:45
Food Truck Festival, fourth annual. Is that right? Six six? Yeah?
34:50
Matthew Math was never my strong suit mine either. So so tomorrow's a
34:55
big day Puckham County fair Grounds in Eleanor. I heard her earlier from the
35:00
folks that adopted Crewton. Who is my being my big success. You've got
35:05
to follow if you don't follow this the chronicles of Crouton on social media.
35:09
It's a dog that we got adopted on the air. And these folks are
35:12
from Saying Albans. They're awesome about updating me with what's going on a Cruton
35:15
and they're bringing Crewton to the Food Truck Festival. Crewton was there last year.
35:20
You cannot wait to meet Kreuton. Yeah, local sliverty. He is
35:22
a local celebrity, a lot bigger than I am. Everybody asked everybody,
35:25
I'm there at this on the stage with Crouton, and all these people run
35:30
up and they they're like, oh, look at the dog. I'm like
35:31
I'm there too. So anyway, let's talk about Food Truck Fast. Yeah,
35:36
so gates open and tickets and all that stuff. Yeah, so you
35:38
can come for free from one to five. Come come, bring your pets,
35:44
bring them on a leash, but yeah, come come and enjoy it
35:47
for free. Or you can come from noon to one for the VIP hour
35:52
for just ten bucks. You can get those. It's just something new you're
35:54
doing this year. The vip explain how exactly how that's going to work.
35:58
Well, it just gets you in the door an hour early, and because
36:00
it's a paid ticket, we're limiting crowds. So one of the complaints that
36:06
we heard was that the lines are long, and we get that, but
36:08
it's also a free event, so we can't do much about that. People
36:12
didn't want to buy tickets, complained about ticket prices, so we made it
36:15
free, which is great, and then some folks didn't like the lines,
36:19
which I understand. So we said, all right, well, how about
36:22
we do one hour where people can pay a small fee and we limit the
36:25
number of tickets that we sell. So if you can enjoy one hour during
36:30
peak lunchtime, you know when your belly's the hungriest that lunchtime, and you
36:34
can hit as many trucks as you want. There's still live music, it's
36:37
the same festival experience. Or gates open to the public at one and then
36:40
it'll be a little crazy for a couple hours. So yeah, twelve to
36:45
one, you can come. What is surprised on those vip life. So
36:47
that's ten dollars. And again the proceeds from this are going to benefit the
36:52
Putnam Candida the Friends of the Putnam County Library. That's right. So any
36:54
profits from the food truck Festival go to the Friends of the Putnam Library.
36:58
And there's a raffle basket you can purchase tickets for that at the festival.
37:01
Now that's not we want to make sure people understand that's not the price of
37:05
the food that's going to go to that. That's just the profits from those
37:07
that do the VP, do the or do the raffles thing. That's right.
37:12
And again a different charity is chosen every year. Yeah you did dif
37:16
Friends of the Library, that's right, different local nonprofit each year. So
37:21
this year we're supporting our lives. Well, everybody wants to know about the
37:22
food trucks. Can you tell us a few that are going to be we
37:24
do. We got as as with every year, we got lots of great
37:28
food coming. So we have fifteen or sixteen trucks registered, Lobster trapping which
37:34
is a fan favorite, a couple of barbecue trucks. We've got shaved ice
37:37
and frios, the popsicles We've got a mini donut truck coming this year,
37:42
which I'm super pumped about. We've got everything from soul food to tacos to
37:49
barbecue, you know, mac and cheese, you name it, you can
37:52
probably find it at one of the trucks. And one of the great things
37:54
about having it over there in eleanor to Putnam County Fairgrounds is you had a
37:58
big old, wide open field over there. As you said, if you
38:01
want to bring as long as your pets are on the leash, you're welcome
38:04
bringing your pets. Great for the kids to run around. You always have
38:07
games and different things for the kids going on up there. It's really really
38:09
I mean, you've had it a couple of different places, but this,
38:12
I think is with all due respect to the other spots, this is the
38:15
best because, I mean you're out there in that big old, wide open
38:17
field and you just have a good time. You got plenty of room for
38:21
the musicians and things of that nature too. Yeah, lots of electricity for
38:24
the trucks, and lots of room to spread out and enjoy the space,
38:27
enjoy the live music. It's just an ideal spot for the festival. And
38:30
I want to talk about the live music. Who we get. Yeah,
38:31
we've got Keegan McLain is playing the River Jam Band. If you haven't heard
38:36
them, they're so good. Spurgey Hankins, I hope I'm saying that right,
38:45
and yeah, and then Evie Schafer's playing. So what kind of means
38:49
to we talked about with these people because in the past, and here's one
38:52
thing I love about the musicians that you book for the Food Truck Festival.
38:55
In the past, it's always been very eclectic and if you don't like this
39:00
song, well, le's stick around you like the next one. It's been
39:01
a little bit of everything. It's been country, it's been rock, it's
39:05
been a little bit of soul. It's been a little bit of everything.
39:07
Yeah, a little bit of funk, a little bit of country sounding,
39:10
a little bit of mean. River Jam bands more of a cover band,
39:15
super high energy. I actually heard them at the Sharpless reunion back in the
39:22
fall, which is fun, and they were so good, so we booked
39:24
them right up. So just all I mean, you'll hear all kinds of
39:29
music there and we're looking forward to I got a text question here for you.
39:32
Will the vendors have samples this year? When we went, there were
39:37
no samples lines for very long, so we just left without trying anything.
39:39
There will not be samples. We heard from the food trucks that that was
39:43
very difficult for them to manage. We did that when they were when that
39:47
was a paid ticket situation. So part of the ticket admission price when we
39:52
did regular paid tickets was it included samples, and so once we made it
39:55
free, we couldn't also ask our trucks to offer samples. Let me say
40:00
this about the lines, because that's always been a knock at any of these
40:05
kind of things. There's always a knock on the lines are long. Explain
40:08
to people why the lines are long. Well, two things. I mean,
40:12
it's a free event, so we have a lot of folks and we
40:15
work very hard to attract as many trucks as we can. And it is
40:19
expensive if you're not familiar with the economics of food trucks, and won't bore
40:22
you with that, but it is expensive for trucks to come very far to
40:25
a festival. So we have lots of trucks that come here after year and
40:29
they love it, but they can't come from three hundred four hundred miles away.
40:32
It's just it doesn't make sense for them. And the other thing is
40:36
there, as we like to say, there are a restaurant on wheels,
40:38
not a fast food restaurant on wheels, So they don't they're not McDonald's on
40:42
wheels. They don't have their stuff pre made and just hand it off.
40:44
At least the majority of it is it are making it when that you place
40:47
your order, So to be patient and enjoy the music and bring a blanket
40:52
and you know, just play into a way. And I'm not trying to
40:54
be negative because we want people there. I'm going to be there tomorrow,
40:57
but we want to we want to make sure people realize you're gonna wait in
41:00
line for a while because it's fresh food. You don't go to a restaurant
41:05
and sit down and expect to have your unless it's McDonald's and weddies and they
41:08
God bless those people. Lord knows, I eat enough of those least time.
41:12
Let's say, having tried half those trucks, our patients will be rewarded.
41:15
Yeah, you're you're going to wait because you're getting You don't get your
41:20
food at a fine dining establishment in five minutes. If it is it's not
41:22
a fine dining establishment, you're gonna you're gonna wait fifteen twenty minutes or more.
41:28
And that's why you have all the other activities going on you. And
41:31
then again, another great thing about the festival is that when you're there,
41:36
even if you're in this about what the size of a football field pretty much
41:39
all right, even when you're at the far end because of the you can
41:42
still hear the music. So you're gonna be taking into music and everything while
41:45
you're there. Uh, Evan, I know you got an event tomorrow too,
41:47
and I want to I'm sorry tonight and I want to talk about that
41:51
because your event sold out? Is there? So, like Ryan, my
41:54
producer said, are you just coming to brag? Is that that way?
41:59
But before? But but I'm gonna give your due time on yours as well.
42:01
I want to talk about I want to talk about some of the food
42:04
trucks. You said you've tried the majority of food trucks that are here,
42:07
all right, what's your favorite. I'm not going to really put you on
42:10
the spot. I will say that our good friend Stevie who is coming back
42:15
to Gritz Farm the Gritz Farm truck. Granted, we really like Chritz Farm
42:21
and Brad and all the work that they do. But no, they just
42:23

Eleanori is the town at the Putnam County Fairgrounds, but also going on tonight
46:30
the capital markets Evan Osbourne. What do you got, man, it's flowers
46:35
after hours and it's sold out. It's sold out. Would you have a
46:38
waiting list if you want to call there? That's why you're here. Okay,
46:42
we'll get you on there, all right. Generally be able to pull
46:46
a few strings work some people people there, I mean as much as I
46:52
guess any wonder. Yeah, I mean you're the count of the boss there,
46:55
all right, So what exactly is? It's a bit what goes on?
46:59
So tonight really is our celebration of spring. It's the opening of the
47:04
market. Everything is in bloom colors. I can tell by your voice everything's
47:07
in bloom. Sorry I was not chucking gray alcohol my way over. But
47:12
again no, it's it's our it's our chance to kick off the spring growing
47:16
season, and it's a fantastic night. We've got some incredible food lined up.
47:22
Chef Mary and Olinger from Hill and Holler up in Mont County, it's
47:24
coming down to join us tonight, Ted Ormbreck from the Wine Shop. It's
47:29

47:35
our friends over with a hot Jazz of Charleston are going to be entertaining.
47:39
What time does everything start? Tonight kicks off at six pm. We've got
47:44
a couple of surprises. Our friends from Grits Farm are gonna be doing a
47:49
little impromptu planner gift for our friends and attendance and nice little, nice little
47:55
way to kick off the evening. And I'm glad we moved it to Friday
47:59
because I can go to the food. Yeah, there you go there,
48:00
you know. So how does one get on the waiting list? Because I
48:04
know sold that three O four three four four one nine zero five and we
48:07
will do it. We can. All right, let's talk about other activities
48:10
going on the Capitol markets this time. I was just I was just over
48:14
there a couple days ago Wednesday lunch at Sohos A week makes a big difference
48:19
out there. Yeah, and that's what I was going to say. I
48:21
mean spring is here. I mean it is Yep. We were rocking and
48:25
rowing outside. We are completely full of this season. H you will notice
48:30
it, Oliver. Vendor space is filled for spring. Just fantastic. Our
48:34
growers have just knocked it out of the park this year. Uh, bringing
48:37
a lot of new stuff, some things you've never seen before. UH,
48:40
wide variety of colors. I can tell you that if you can't find it
48:45
under there, you probably don't want it. We're talking again with that with
48:49
Osborn for Capital Market Dave Valence showing five any live rightch you by Morgan to
48:52
Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. And again Christmas season is huge at
48:58
Capital Market. All the seasons are big, all and everything, but spraying
49:00
it's just something a little bit different. Maybe it's in the psyche of individuals.
49:07
The next three weeks will be the busiest all year at the market.
49:12
Mother's Day for us is Black Friday. Traditionally we run around fifty thousand customers
49:17
through the market in one weekend. So you know, as we all know,
49:23
West Virginians love their mama. And you can see that on display in
49:28
full effect Mother's Day weekend at Capital Mark. All right, and I'll probably
49:31
have you on again before Mother's Day. But that's one of those big I
49:34
mean again, like we were talking about how Christmas is big and Halloween all
49:37
the Saint Patrick's Day. That's another big one for you. And it risk
49:39
given too much away. We got two big announcements coming up next week.
49:44
Okay, Well, I was gonna say you last time we were here,
49:45
you teased a big announcement and so this is the teas that that was the
49:50
teas of the teas and this is the teas we're really serious. Well you've
49:55
already you kind of told us, Evan a little bit of it because you
49:59
said that we're for the first time in a long time, we're going to
50:01
having ten years first announcing a new tenant. A new tenant will be there
50:05
inside the market. I mean, you could just tell us now, I
50:07
mean, you got me and come come on this time. Wouldn't have a
50:10
job next week, it's just between us. I mean, there's nobody listening,
50:13
So come on, all right, we'll find out that what do people
50:16
need to know? Kellyn? They because what's what's I know? You and
50:20
Ashley from the Chamber have been doing these cute little videos. I've been trying
50:22
to share those of my social media. What do people need to know about
50:25
the Food Truck Festival tomorrow when they come out? What's your what's your fact?
50:28
Your frequently asked questions? Bring it, Bring a launchair or a blanket.
50:31
There is some seating, but not a ton so you'll be most comfortable
50:35
if you bring a chair, plan to wait in line, bring a buddy
50:37
and like tag team, pick your pick your two trucks that you want to
50:40
try and split the line in order for each other and the beer tent if
50:45
you want crappyers cash only, we do recommend that you bring some cash,
50:49
but most trucks do take cards, so bring cash as a backup, and
50:52
bring cash if you want to be here. That's a very very good point
50:55
because we are fastly becoming a cashless society. Not but I mean most normal
51:01
people are. I'm still I still pay cash, but most of the trucks
51:06
will will take cards, debit cards, whatever, credit, right, but
51:08
just in case and sometimes sometimes things happen, that's right. You should always
51:12
bring cash in an event like it, and for the beer you have to
51:15
have cash, beer, bring some books and is it a like different craft
51:19
beers and things like that? What you said? Okay, all right,
51:21
we got it coming. So and the weather is going to be great,
51:24
so good. I'm so excited. It was cold last year. This year
51:27
is going to be perfect. Yeah. Now you your your stuff is primarily
51:30
outside. I guess tonight, right, it's all all outside. Yeah.
51:31
So the weather this evening is going to be a little bit, a little
51:35
bit chilly, but not not horrible. I mean, right, it's tornado,
51:39
that's true. What kind of day? I think I asked you that
51:42
last time year, But what kind of damage you guys have from We'll wrap
51:45
it up with you know, all things been equal, we were great.
51:49
That's the great thing about being in a one hundred year old train depot.
51:52
Yeah, we've seen some things, but well, it's like this building here.
51:54
I mean I felt I was I was here when the tornado rolled to
51:57
Trowth. I felt perfectly safe in this building because I I and this building
52:00
to be staying one. Ain't nothing else here, all right, give us
52:02
the phone number if people get on a waiting list for your event, because
52:05
you're sold tonight flowers after hours from six to eight pm. Shout out to
52:08
our three presenting sponsors, AARP Tamorak Marketplace and Pickering and Associates. And where
52:14

52:16

52:20
