- 0:04Speaker 1: show on demand on the iHeartRadio f.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Kf I AM the six twenty bill handle.
- 0:15Speaker 3: It is a Monday morning, August twenty fourth, Hotter than
- 0:19Speaker 3: hell out there. It is a real bad one. Here's
- 0:23Speaker 3: some interesting news before we jump into the topic. This
- 0:26Speaker 3: is twenty five years after the nine to eleven attacks,
- 0:29Speaker 3: and for the first time, the Office of Chief Medical
- 0:31Speaker 3: Examiner Examiner and the NYPD have identified a single nine
- 0:37Speaker 3: to eleven victim using genetic genealogy, which combines DNA testing
- 0:42Speaker 3: with the family tree research. Because there are still dozens,
- 0:47Speaker 3: if not hundreds of people still unidentified who were there
- 0:52Speaker 3: by all evidence outside of confirmation of DNA. So we
- 0:56Speaker 3: have one now that just was was in fact discovered
- 1:01Speaker 3: and ascertained to well, was identified.
- 1:05Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:07Speaker 3: The US and Canada, the talks between the trade talks
- 1:13Speaker 3: that have broken down completely. Now, what was it last week?
- 1:19Speaker 3: A deal was to be struck between Canada and the
- 1:21Speaker 3: US that the tariffs would for the most part be
- 1:25Speaker 3: lifted or not introduced or not going forward. Those talks
- 1:29Speaker 3: fell apart hours before the tariffs were going to go
- 1:35Speaker 3: in effect, and then the deal was struck. Okay, Well
- 1:40Speaker 3: it turns out that it wasn't, and now the tariffs
- 1:43Speaker 3: are moving forward. The administration is now tariffing twenty twenty
- 1:51Speaker 3: billion dollars worth of goods from Canada. Hockey Sticks, for example,
- 1:56Speaker 3: are tariff. This is fifty percent stuff. I mean, that's
- 1:59Speaker 3: a big tariff. Steel cars that are built in Canada
- 2:03Speaker 3: and so many are and so these are huge tariffs.
- 2:07Speaker 3: And Carney, who is the Prime Minister, is saying, dollar
- 2:10Speaker 3: per dollar, we're going to match the tariffs, which basically
- 2:15Speaker 3: blows up the relations, the economic relations between Canada and US,
- 2:20Speaker 3: and it's going to go down a very miserable path.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The President has said that Canada is screwing the United
- 2:29Speaker 3: States in terms of the tariffs that it imposes, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: has been for a long time, and in.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Some cases he's absolutely right.
- 2:37Speaker 3: For example, the tariffs on dairy goods, eggs, poultry, milk
- 2:44Speaker 3: going into Canada are one hundred percent tariff from the
- 2:49Speaker 3: United States, which means effectively they're blocked. And he said, hey,
- 2:54Speaker 3: we're not going to take that now. Most goods are not.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Canada and the US had a pretty good relationship but
- 3:01Speaker 3: relative to tariffs, but the President has said, we're done
- 3:05Speaker 3: with that and we are going to now tariff twenty
- 3:09Speaker 3: billion dollars worth of goods, tongue depressers or another one.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But the big wa I mean, okay, tongue depressers, but
- 3:15Speaker 3: the steel and the cars. That's a big, big deal. Now,
- 3:20Speaker 3: there were very few tariffs between the two countries between
- 3:24Speaker 3: US and Canada because there was a deal that was
- 3:26Speaker 3: struck between Canada, Mexico and the US, and that was
- 3:32Speaker 3: the USMCA Bill, the agreement, and that was done signed
- 3:38Speaker 3: by Trump during his first term, and that governs about
- 3:42Speaker 3: two trillion dollars in goods and services between the three countries.
- 3:47Speaker 3: And the President pulled out of that after Canada and
- 3:50Speaker 3: Mexico formally requested that it be renewed for another sixteen years. Now,
- 3:56Speaker 3: why is the president so enamored of tariffs? He is
- 4:00Speaker 3: enamored of tariffs, and he has said during his campaign
- 4:04Speaker 3: even I think the first time or certainly the second
- 4:06Speaker 3: time around, the most beautiful words in the English language
- 4:09Speaker 3: are tariffs. Why because he genuinely believes that it is
- 4:14Speaker 3: to protect American workers. It's that simple. And does it
- 4:18Speaker 3: protect American workers to some extent? It does and does
- 4:23Speaker 3: it force foreign companies who sell to the United States
- 4:27Speaker 3: that their goods are going to be tariffed up the
- 4:29Speaker 3: yin yang. Does it force them to build factories in
- 4:32Speaker 3: the United States. So the argument can be these were
- 4:36Speaker 3: American goods and you can't tear if your own goods. Well,
- 4:41Speaker 3: certainly the amount of money that has been promised, and
- 4:45Speaker 3: in fact, factories have opened up or they have been started,
- 4:51Speaker 3: construction has begun. And the only issue is that the president,
- 4:55Speaker 3: how unusual, he has exaggerated beyond belief what the number
- 5:00Speaker 3: is like, almost beyond comprehension. And the trillions of dollars, No,
- 5:06Speaker 3: in the trillions of trillions of dollars, in the bazillions
- 5:10Speaker 3: of dollars that does coming in, and it's not you know,
- 5:13Speaker 3: for example, there have been promises, there have been Okay,
- 5:16Speaker 3: we'll consider it. And so the President's motivation is I
- 5:21Speaker 3: think terrific. He wants to protect American workers, and to
- 5:25Speaker 3: the extent tariffs do protect American workers. But here is
- 5:29Speaker 3: a huge problem. The tariffs are right now. Building a
- 5:33Speaker 3: new factory is years in the making, and so the
- 5:38Speaker 3: American worker is going to suffer. The American consumer is
- 5:43Speaker 3: going to suffer dramatically for the next couple of years
- 5:48Speaker 3: based on what the President is doing, and even he
- 5:52Speaker 3: has said the pain will be for the short term
- 5:55Speaker 3: and there will be pain, And then their economists are
- 5:58Speaker 3: saying that this is completely crapola. And it turns out
- 6:01Speaker 3: that if everything is even Stephen, if there are no
- 6:04Speaker 3: tariffs coming in the United States, then I'm assuming Trump
- 6:09Speaker 3: would say if other countries don't tear off us, we're
- 6:12Speaker 3: not going to tear off them. But I think to
- 6:16Speaker 3: benefit the American worker, it would happen anyway. So there
- 6:20Speaker 3: is now a war starting September eighth, the war begins
- 6:24Speaker 3: with the Canada and the US. Now, the other thing
- 6:29Speaker 3: that's important I want to finish it up with this
- 6:31Speaker 3: is how the US is situated in the world. Because
- 6:35Speaker 3: the US is willing to tear off Canada to this extent,
- 6:40Speaker 3: those can disappear with the America the next president. Tariffs
- 6:43Speaker 3: can happen immediately, and they can be undone immediately as
- 6:48Speaker 3: the same day. Even but the way the world views,
- 6:52Speaker 3: our allies view us, the trust that they have in
- 6:56Speaker 3: US that has for the most part disappeared, that is
- 7:00Speaker 3: not going to go away very quickly. That's going to
- 7:03Speaker 3: take a very very long time to repair if ever again. Okay,
- 7:08Speaker 3: so much for that. A big story about the billionaire tax.
- 7:12Speaker 3: A couple things about the billionaire tax I want to
- 7:13Speaker 3: share with you. Thing Number one is that the billionaire tax,
- 7:20Speaker 3: which is up in November, which we're going to vote
- 7:22Speaker 3: for in November, is a five percent tax based on
- 7:28Speaker 3: anybody's well worth over a billion dollars at five percent,
- 7:33Speaker 3: So let's say someone is worth two hundred and fift
- 7:35Speaker 3: well and that's not fair, okay, because there aren't very
- 7:38Speaker 3: many people that are. But let's say you're worth five
- 7:40Speaker 3: billion dollars, and they're more in California than anyplace else
- 7:44Speaker 3: probably in the world. And so on five billion dollars,
- 7:48Speaker 3: you get to pay what two hundred and twenty five
- 7:51Speaker 3: million or two hundred and fifty million dollars in tax
- 7:54Speaker 3: one time to the government. So what's the problem here
- 7:58Speaker 3: When you look at these billionaires, they're worth several billion
- 8:03Speaker 3: dollars on paper.
- 8:05Speaker 2: They don't have.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Billions of dollars in the bank, they don't have two
- 8:09Speaker 3: hundred and fifty million dollars to write a check. All
- 8:14Speaker 3: of their wealth is in the worth of their company,
- 8:18Speaker 3: and so a lot of people are saying, A lot
- 8:21Speaker 3: of billionaires are saying, wait a minute, that's not fair
- 8:24Speaker 3: to us. I mean, you're asking us to pay the
- 8:29Speaker 3: state of California five percent of our net worth. That
- 8:33Speaker 3: on top of our income tax. But income tax is
- 8:35Speaker 3: not a whole lot. Depending on how much a billionaire
- 8:39Speaker 3: takes out well, I mean, you can take out tens
- 8:43Speaker 3: of millions of dollars. You know, depending on how high
- 8:46Speaker 3: you live, you can take out hundreds of millions dollars.
- 8:48Speaker 3: But that's ordinary income. This is a five percent one time.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Now it's a little bit complex because the billionaires could
- 8:56Speaker 3: pay the tax right away and this is their worth
- 9:00Speaker 3: of I think January first, twenty twenty six is what
- 9:05Speaker 3: it does.
- 9:05Speaker 2: So it goes back.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Billionaires could pay the tax right away or spread it
- 9:09Speaker 3: over five years, though over five years are charged an
- 9:11Speaker 3: extra seven and a half percent of the tax bill
- 9:14Speaker 3: each year. The other thing which helps the billionaires is
- 9:19Speaker 3: the confer defer the payment until the assets are sold.
- 9:23Speaker 3: So okay, we'll buy that. That makes that makes some sense. Okay,
- 9:29Speaker 3: So a lot of people, including me, saying, come on,
- 9:34Speaker 3: all you need to do is tax the rich.
- 9:35Speaker 2: That's it. You tax the rich.
- 9:37Speaker 3: And when you're done taxing the rich, you tax the
- 9:38Speaker 3: rich again because the rich it's their fair share. I
- 9:43Speaker 3: love that statement. They have to pay their fair share.
- 9:47Speaker 3: What does that mean? The highest marginal tax rate in
- 9:49Speaker 3: California is fifty two percent if you count California taxes
- 9:53Speaker 3: on top of federal taxes, fifty two percent. Surveys have
- 9:57Speaker 3: come out. Do you know what the what taxes would be?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Neil?
- 10:01Speaker 3: What do you think income tax should be? If you
- 10:04Speaker 3: had to guess? Just what do you think is fair?
- 10:06Speaker 3: What do you mean should be? Oh?
- 10:07Speaker 2: What do I think it's fair? Yeah? What do you
- 10:09Speaker 2: think is fair? I don't know?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, that's gonna work. Cono, what do you think
- 10:17Speaker 3: is fair? You're not helping?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Okay, Amy, Amy? What do you think is fair? Text? Okay, Will?
- 10:28Speaker 2: What do you think is fair? I was doing something
- 10:31Speaker 2: else and I have no idea what you're talking about? Okay?
- 10:33Speaker 3: What do you think is fair? Income tax? What is
- 10:36Speaker 3: fair to you? What do you think it's fair? You
- 10:42Speaker 3: don't know either?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Okay?
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, move on? Okay, Yeah? I mean and what
- 10:46Speaker 3: if they pay you in coupons for all you can
- 10:48Speaker 3: eat buffets?
- 10:51Speaker 2: That? Yeah? And then I'm not gonna go through it.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Let me tell you what surveys have done, and it's
- 10:58Speaker 3: been universal surveys. About a third people think about a
- 11:02Speaker 3: third is fair. California, we're at fifty two percent. The
- 11:07Speaker 3: rich pay the taxes, and we want more tax to
- 11:10Speaker 3: be paid. So that doesn't make a lot of sense
- 11:13Speaker 3: those for people who don't have money or don't have billions.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:17Speaker 3: The other thing is, which is really interesting, we talk
- 11:21Speaker 3: about how billionaires, how wealthy people are leaving the state
- 11:24Speaker 3: because of taxes.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Are you ready for this?
- 11:28Speaker 3: California still dominates money coming in.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Venture money.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Venture money funding in California is three times more than
- 11:41Speaker 3: every other state in the Union combined. That's how much
- 11:46Speaker 3: money is coming in. Ninety percent of all venture capital
- 11:50Speaker 3: from the US is coming into California. Why the taxes
- 11:55Speaker 3: are insane, Well, we have a deep pool of talent,
- 11:59Speaker 3: we have rich and investors, we have tech infrastructure, and
- 12:03Speaker 3: so we are ground zero for what the AI explosion there.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It is, the whole thing is being driven by AI.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Four out of the top twenty five companies that raise
- 12:14Speaker 3: the largest venture capital in twenty twenty six, we're based
- 12:18Speaker 3: right here in southern California, and so you will wait,
- 12:23Speaker 3: wait a second, billionaires and they become billionaires. Someone funds,
- 12:27Speaker 3: they bring in funding those people in southern California. The
- 12:32Speaker 3: businesses are here, they are taxed in California, the owners
- 12:38Speaker 3: of these businesses. And it looks like that five percent
- 12:43Speaker 3: tax is going to kick in, because is there any
- 12:46Speaker 3: chance that the people in California are not going to
- 12:50Speaker 3: vote let's soak the rich again. I'm sorry, We're not
- 12:52Speaker 3: soaking the rich. We are simply asking that they pay
- 12:55Speaker 3: their fair share. Interestingly enough, you know it's against the tax,
- 12:59Speaker 3: is Gavin new.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Arguing. And it makes sense to me that the more
- 13:06Speaker 2: you're going to tax.
- 13:07Speaker 3: These incredibly wealthy people, the more they're the quicker they're
- 13:10Speaker 3: going to leave the state, and companies leave the state.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Tesla left California. A number of huge companies have left California,
- 13:21Speaker 3: although they still keep manufacturing here because it's hard to
- 13:23Speaker 3: move a factory. So we'll see what happens in November.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Do I think a billionaire's tax is going to kick in? Absolutely,
- 13:31Speaker 3: I'm just interested in seeing the numbers, how much it's
- 13:35Speaker 3: going to win by the proposition.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I'll tell you what though.
- 13:39Speaker 4: I don't think anybody would give a roadent toll about
- 13:43Speaker 4: what you're paying in taxes if they've fulfilled the things
- 13:45Speaker 4: they're supposed to sidewalks, streets, law enforcement.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I know, I disagree. I still think fifty percent between.
- 13:56Speaker 3: You don't think it's worse to pay fifty percent. Oh yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 3: of course, of course it is. That's worth. But that's
- 14:02Speaker 3: not something I understand. But that's not the issue. The
- 14:04Speaker 3: issue is what you think is reasonable. That is, I
- 14:08Speaker 3: assume the services are being given to us with the
- 14:12Speaker 3: taxes that would be high. The point is the taxes
- 14:15Speaker 3: are high, and no services are being given.
- 14:18Speaker 4: To us unless you're homeless or a legal immigrant.
- 14:21Speaker 3: If you're homeless, you don't get many you don't get
- 14:23Speaker 3: a lot of services. And if you're at and if
- 14:26Speaker 3: you're a ill legal immigrant, you don't get a whole
- 14:29Speaker 3: lot of services other than free medical if you're completely poor. Okay,
- 14:33Speaker 3: that works, you know, RS? Yeah, RS, that's true. Well,
- 14:39Speaker 3: once they're stabilized, you're kicked out. And then and you
- 14:43Speaker 3: have education because the kids of those who are undocumented
- 14:48Speaker 3: get get free education through high school. So yeah, I
- 14:51Speaker 3: think you're argument kicks in. Okay, before we jump into
- 14:56Speaker 3: a really fun topic about basically how naive and dumb
- 15:00Speaker 3: you are.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And I do believe this.
- 15:03Speaker 3: I usually sometimes I don't have much credibility when I
- 15:07Speaker 3: say you guys are morons and idiots cretans, because I
- 15:11Speaker 3: just enjoy doing that. Oh, this one is absolutely true.
- 15:15Speaker 3: First the Dodgers with Neil or Neil of about the Dodgers.
- 15:20Speaker 2: What said that? Didn't? None of that worked? Neil, what's
- 15:22Speaker 2: going on? Wow? That was incredible. I know, smooth, smooth, smooth. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 2: I got it.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Your official home for Dodgers baseball is AM five seventy
- 15:31Speaker 4: LA Sports. Tomorrow afternoon, You're back to back world champion
- 15:34Speaker 4: Dodgers take on the Braves in Atlanta, first pitch at
- 15:38Speaker 4: four Los Angeles.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Oh.
- 15:39Speaker 4: You can listen on AM five seventy LA Sports and
- 15:43Speaker 4: stream on the iHeart Radio app brought to you by Sapporo.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Great Moments, start with Sapporo Beer, Good with sushi, Great
- 15:52Speaker 4: with baseball.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Now, what I want to do is, first of all,
- 15:59Speaker 2: tell you a fact.
- 16:01Speaker 3: And one of the facts that we know is that
- 16:04Speaker 3: it's now twenty four hour coverage of course in news,
- 16:09Speaker 3: between the Internet, between insta, between the chat rooms, I mean,
- 16:13Speaker 3: all of that is twenty four hour news and the
- 16:15Speaker 3: conspiracy theorists go crazy because.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Of the Internet. I mean that has really really exploded.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Some of the conspiracy theories are I think outright dangerous.
- 16:26Speaker 3: I really do about voting for example, and the fact
- 16:30Speaker 3: that elections were rigged. All of those I think are
- 16:34Speaker 3: dangerous towards our democracy, and some are just fun. The
- 16:38Speaker 3: conspiracy crazy people are just fun. And one of the
- 16:43Speaker 3: fun facts about crazy conspiracy people has to do with
- 16:49Speaker 3: UFO news coverage. And there was a survey of two
- 16:52Speaker 3: thousand Americans and asked the question, is your belief in
- 16:58Speaker 3: aliens in sing because of news coverage?
- 17:05Speaker 2: Okay, first we start, are there aliens out there? Neil?
- 17:08Speaker 2: Are there aliens that visit Earth, that visit Earth? No? Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 2: cono aliens that visit Earth? Yes? Okay, excellent, Kono is
- 17:18Speaker 2: a moron? Uh, there we go. Will aliens that visit Earth?
- 17:23Speaker 2: Of course? Okay? Do they visit Earth at restaurants and
- 17:27Speaker 2: talk to you a lot?
- 17:30Speaker 1: Not?
- 17:31Speaker 3: No, But of course you actually believe that aliens do
- 17:34Speaker 3: visit Earth, I'm sure, George says.
- 17:37Speaker 2: So.
- 17:37Speaker 3: George has been in space ships. Uh, he has played
- 17:42Speaker 3: ma jong with aliens in their space ships. All right,
- 17:47Speaker 3: So oh and just came back in the room and
- 17:49Speaker 3: are there aliens out there that visit Earth?
- 17:52Speaker 2: No? Okay? Good?
- 17:53Speaker 3: Uh so you are not a moron? And Amy is
- 17:57Speaker 3: running around someplace in the studio. Now here is the question,
- 18:03Speaker 3: the rise in UFO news coverage, and boy has a
- 18:07Speaker 3: news coverage increase is an increasing belief in aliens? The
- 18:13Speaker 3: answer is a very firm you betcha, particularly for younger Americans.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Now remember this is a survey of two thousand people.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Thirty seven percent of Americans say that the news coverage
- 18:27Speaker 3: about aliens has made them believe more that aliens have
- 18:33Speaker 3: visited Earth. Gen z far more likely than baby boomers,
- 18:39Speaker 3: men far more likely than women. And what if alien
- 18:45Speaker 3: life were confirmed tomorrow, Neil, would you be curious or
- 18:51Speaker 3: would you be.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Fearful of aliens visiting Earth? Oh? By far more curious?
- 18:57Speaker 2: So would I be.
- 18:58Speaker 3: And that's thirty eight percent versus fearful seventeen percent. If
- 19:05Speaker 3: an alien came to Earth and I heard take me
- 19:08Speaker 3: to your leader, I would think they're arguing how Americans?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Why Americans use quartz as of measuring liquids. See, that's
- 19:21Speaker 3: a that's a measurement joke. Okay, take me to your leader. Okay, jeez, you.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Had to explain it again. I was like, going, what
- 19:29Speaker 2: is he talking about? Exactly?
- 19:31Speaker 3: There you go, Amy, Oh, and you're the last one
- 19:33Speaker 3: I'm going to ask. Are there aliens that have visited Earth?
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Okay, good, so most of us say no. So the
- 19:39Speaker 3: only Cretans in our group are is Actually it's oh,
- 19:45Speaker 3: cono and will the two of you ought to sit
- 19:48Speaker 3: down and have lunch together. Aliens, Cono, you better eat
- 19:51Speaker 3: quickly on my ear, I foil has Okay, more more
- 19:57Speaker 3: than half says their opinion on aliens visit the Earth
- 20:00Speaker 3: has not changed, and ten percent actually made them believe less.
- 20:04Speaker 3: I'm one of those people where it hasn't changed my
- 20:06Speaker 3: belief at all. I still don't believe in aliens visiting Earth.
- 20:10Speaker 3: And here's my question. Why do aliens when they visit
- 20:13Speaker 3: the Earth never do it publicly? Why don't they go
- 20:18Speaker 3: down Pennsylvania Avenue and march with their nineteen legs or
- 20:24Speaker 3: whatever they have, and take their four eyes and just
- 20:27Speaker 3: look around. Why why is it always some super secret place. Well,
- 20:35Speaker 3: by the way, more than half believe that the UFOs
- 20:42Speaker 3: that governments know more about the UFOs than are publicly shared.
- 20:46Speaker 3: That's sixty percent. That's the other question. Why would the
- 20:49Speaker 3: government not share information about UFOs about aliens?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Why would they leave it out? Why they're frightened?
- 20:56Speaker 3: Is that it because they know that aliens are trying
- 21:00Speaker 3: to eat us or make us slaves. So I just
- 21:05Speaker 3: don't get It's interesting that more people, a huge number
- 21:11Speaker 3: of people say that the coverage makes them more belief,
- 21:17Speaker 3: give you a bigger belief, and the majority feel that
- 21:20Speaker 3: we are not prepared as a society to properly comprehend
- 21:25Speaker 3: the existence of other worldly beings. And maybe that's why
- 21:28Speaker 3: the aliens are not being made public or not going public,
- 21:32Speaker 3: because they fear that we don't understand what aliens are
- 21:36Speaker 3: about and who they are. All Right, for those of you,
- 21:41Speaker 3: I don't want to make a value judgment, okay, but
- 21:44Speaker 3: I will tell you those of you who believe in aliens,
- 21:47Speaker 3: basically your IQ is about par golf.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Just want to point that out, all right.
- 21:54Speaker 3: An issue, a legal issue, questions that I get all
- 21:56Speaker 3: the time on handle in the law, mold mold in
- 21:59Speaker 3: my house? What do I do? Do I sue the builder? Well, yeah,
- 22:06Speaker 3: what happened I have respiratory problems. Okay, can you prove it?
- 22:11Speaker 3: Can you get a doctor? They'll say, yes, the mold
- 22:13Speaker 3: caused your respiratory problems. Yes, how about the doctor they're
- 22:16Speaker 3: going to bring in? The says no, that's not easy
- 22:19Speaker 3: to prove. That's for starters. Second of all, mold isn't
- 22:24Speaker 3: that big an issue. In southern California and Louisiana there
- 22:29Speaker 3: are thousands of lawsuits have been filed against one of
- 22:32Speaker 3: the biggest builders. And here's the reason that mold is
- 22:35Speaker 3: so pervasive because as the plaintiffs and these lawsuits are
- 22:39Speaker 3: saying that builders are building quicker, they'll be there building
- 22:43Speaker 3: cheaper and therefore that causes mold. Well, I got news
- 22:47Speaker 3: knowing people and having built homes and in the construction business,
- 22:51Speaker 3: builders have always tried to build as cheaply and as
- 22:55Speaker 3: quickly as they can, so that doesn't fly. Here is
- 23:01Speaker 3: the issue, though, the cost of litigation, because everybody now sues.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Everybody sues, and you know you can't get Look at
- 23:09Speaker 3: your home insurance policy and look at the exclusions. One
- 23:12Speaker 3: is earthquake coverage that's not covered. You have to have
- 23:15Speaker 3: a separate policy. Another one is flood insurance that's not covered,
- 23:20Speaker 3: not in California. You have to have separate insurance even
- 23:22Speaker 3: if it's available, which I don't even know if it is.
- 23:26Speaker 3: The other one is mold insurance. That's an exclusion. You
- 23:30Speaker 3: can't get mold insurance. Look at your policy because lawsuits
- 23:34Speaker 3: abound like crazy with mold insurance or companies that are
- 23:41Speaker 3: insuring against mold. Too many lawsuits. They're all over the
- 23:45Speaker 3: country and they have gone The reason is the story
- 23:48Speaker 3: is those lawsuits have gone up so dramatically because people
- 23:52Speaker 3: are discovering mold. It used to be if you had mold, okay,
- 23:56Speaker 3: you take some bleach, you kill the mold. Anymore, Now
- 24:01Speaker 3: if you have mold, you no longer can breathe, You
- 24:04Speaker 3: have heart problems, you have.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Nightmares, you're hysterical.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Now you can't sleep because you envision mold coming and
- 24:14Speaker 3: taking over your body as you go to sleep. What
- 24:18Speaker 3: sci fi film is that one where the mold creeps
- 24:21Speaker 3: over your body. It's one of the I think that
- 24:24Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember which one in the fifties.
- 24:27Speaker 2: But the point is lossuit bob.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Now the blob was that mold or was that a blobo?
- 24:33Speaker 3: It was a blob. Okay, so you think mold is
- 24:35Speaker 3: a blob. How about blobby mold. I think we're done, guys. Anyway,
- 24:42Speaker 3: Lawsuits of plenty, we finished it on that one.
- 24:45Speaker 2: That was short.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I just wanted to give you a handle on the
- 24:49Speaker 3: lost story that I get all the time. Tomorrow we
- 24:53Speaker 3: start all over again with Amy and Will five o'clock
