- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to another episode of Learn Swahili with Fexingo. How are you feeling today? Luna: I'm great, Lucas. I'm ready to learn something new. What are we talking about today? Lucas: Today we're going to learn how to give and understand directions in Swahili. You know, where to turn, which way to go. Luna: Oh, that's useful. I always get lost. So, how do I say 'turn left'? Lucas: That's pinda kushoto. Let's say it together: pinda kushoto. Luna: Pinda kushoto. Pinda kushoto. Okay, that's not too hard. Lucas: And 'turn right' is pinda kulia. Try that. Luna: Pinda kulia. Pinda kulia. I like how it rolls. Lucas: Great. And if you want to say 'go straight', it's endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Endelea moja kwa moja. That's a mouthful. Let me try again. Endelea moja kwa moja. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's imagine you're at a crossroads and you need to ask where the bus stop is. You'd say: Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Luna: Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Great, so I can ask for the bus stop. Lucas: Exactly. And if someone tells you to turn left, they'd say pinda kushoto. If right, pinda kulia. And if straight, endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: So, one more time. Pinda kushoto. Pinda kulia. Endelea moja kwa moja. Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Lucas: You nailed them all. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're on the street, and you ask someone: Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Luna: Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Lucas: And they answer: Pinda kushoto, kisha endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: So, turn left then go straight. Got it. Lucas: See, you're already navigating. Let's say that again: pinda kushoto, kisha endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Pinda kushoto, kisha endelea moja kwa moja. Lucas: And if they say pinda kulia, you know that's right. Luna: Right. Pinda kulia. So easy to mix up left and right, but I'll practice. Lucas: You'll get it with repetition. And that's why we're here. By the way, if you're finding these episodes helpful, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Now, back to directions. Let's review all four phrases once more. Pinda kushoto. Luna: Pinda kushoto. Lucas: Pinda kulia. Luna: Pinda kulia. Lucas: Endelea moja kwa moja. Luna: Endelea moja kwa moja. Lucas: And Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Luna: Kituo cha basi kiko wapi? Lucas: Perfect. You're all set to navigate a Swahili-speaking town. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. I feel like I can actually ask for directions now. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing these, and you'll never be lost. See you in the next episode. Luna: Goodbye, everyone. Kwaheri.
