- 1:57[SPEAKER_04]: I thought, I guess I'll throw it up to you guys first.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_04]: Justin, like, what was your reaction to the game?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I'm honestly doing Gabriel.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I wanted to take it to.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I came away and pressed man.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, um, you know, we wanted to see him in real-time game action.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I talked to Josh right before you got on.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think it was all pretty.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, what, like we said, we have to temper expectations.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: You want to see him make some good throws, you know, make good decisions, line the offense up.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: was it all good no there you know there was a couple mistakes the turnovers obviously suck but I came away like we have a good problem you know personally
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking too, man.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, especially based on all those reports that we were getting out of camp that this guy just doesn't look good.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Zach Jackson, a couple other people.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're a, they're a writer saying like, not an NFL quarterback looks terrible out here too small.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Incompletions, you know, against our defense, the Eagles do all that kind of stuff.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then he came out and was sharp.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: The first couple drives, what was the hundred percent just hitting all his passes, doing exactly what Kevin's defense he wants to do, you know, running the scheme correctly, being the perfect executioner of that system.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was impressive, based on what we were kind of expecting from what we were here and how to, how to keep up with it.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this guy does look like he belongs in the NFL.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_04]: I thought he was better than advertised in terms of what reports are that we were seeing.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_04]: I guess if I said so you guys have kind of already touched on how he's been impressive and I just started looking at then comparing his debut to Shoulder's debut and you know at the end of everything I thought Dylan's got a crazy strong arm like he throws it on a frozen rope He started off really great.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_04]: I hated that he had two turnovers and obviously the the the interception was
- 3:55[SPEAKER_04]: It was screwed from everybody.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_04]: It was everybody that, you know, three receivers all in the same area, but as the quarterback just don't throw it.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got a tight end who reaches out to catch it and then pulls his arm, but just catch the ball, bro.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like we're knock it down or something.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's like he was wearing a contact.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_04]: But then I didn't love to.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_04]: Then he throws his pick and he just kind of likes it.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_04]: I guess I don't know.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_04]: You don't want him to pull a baker may feel the shoulder blowing out in a preseason game trying to tackle, but like
- 4:22[SPEAKER_04]: You're also in a quarterback competition through a pick.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, maybe show a little bit like a tiny bit of effort.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_04]: And then I guess when I watch it, I thought he is better than some people are saying coming out of camp, but he's not as good as should or Sanders.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_04]: I thought that was, I thought at the end of that game yesterday or at least the end of his time.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_04]: It was, to me, nothing of that performance to me said, this is the guy who should be stealing first team reps while should do his fourth.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_04]: If anything, I got the impression it should have been opposite.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_04]: Should or should be getting first team reps and Gabriel should be the fourth string.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not saying that he can't play at all, but I thought he didn't look as comfortable in the pocket.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_04]: I thought his size
- 5:02[SPEAKER_04]: like, looked like it could be a problem.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: Like a couple of his throws, he had like really get up on tippy toes and he just, I just was as sustainable.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_04]: I also didn't like once you got off the script is when he kind of got worse, you know?
- 5:17[SPEAKER_04]: And we saw Shador come out and maybe you could say Shador struggled early, at least like missed a couple of throws, but
- 5:25[SPEAKER_04]: He was up against once.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_04]: As Shidorah settled in and he was going in two on two's, three's on threes.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_04]: He started, you saw his play ascend.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_04]: He got better as the game went on and he settled in and got comfortable.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: And I thought Dylan kind of got worse as the game went on and got off of the script.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_04]: turnovers is a big deal to me, especially two turnovers, no touchdowns.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_04]: I thought it was telling two, we got to the red zone, they didn't let them, like down inside that five, they didn't let them really attempt to pass.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_04]: Shoulder doors, throw in for touchdowns, Dylan Gabriel got to just turn around and hand it off a bunch of times.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: I just, you kind of see what they were like protecting them a little bit.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_04]: And so to me, I watch that game and I thought,
- 6:08[SPEAKER_04]: Dylan Gabriel, better than advertised, still career backup.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_04]: And I watched Shudor play and I thought way better than the Browns are telling us they are by his depth position and could a hundred percent be the quarterback of our team next year and beyond.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_04]: At least that was my takeaways from watching the two of them play.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the scripted stuff and I'll let you go in your second judge.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so you're good.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: You're good.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: He, you know, Dylan Gabriel did execute the script very well.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was on target, you know, delivered on time.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like he was he was executing the plays very well, but like you said, like when you got off script is when things got a little chaotic and that's when the mistakes start to show up.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then they sort of compounded as the game went on.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL rarely stays on script for very long.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like they get to all script fast during whether it's during the the out, you know, the course of entire game or just a single drive.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: You get off the script and should door being able to be that playmaker to improvise and do like the way he rolls out and creates more throwing space and more throwing opportunities for himself.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's play extend.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's the kind of stuff you need in the NFL.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: Also, just, you know, keep in mind, this is the floor.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: We're only two preseason games into this thing.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like this is where these, this is it.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: This is the cap, like they're not going to develop anymore from here.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is just, we're just getting our first glimpse of these guys.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're, we're in a good spot.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: All I heard was, you know, we don't have a quarterback in either of these guys down the road.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, based on what media is saying from Cleveland if we're taking a quarterback next year with one of those picks, I disagree with, you know, I'm based on what I saw from, you know, both of them.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: I know it wasn't great.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you on the turnovers Blake.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: The one throw the way to throw the way.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: And then the, you know, the hand off me and Josh talked about that to just look like he didn't even get to the right spot, like he was just a little out of position.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, like if this is just the first glimpse that we're getting of both of these guys, I think we're, this is not a bad problem to have.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_04]: No, I mean, if he plays the whole game, he was close to, on pace, the throw for three hundred yards with a, you know, like a, seventy percent completion percentage.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_04]: But also he's on pace for, for turnover to touch down Patrick.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just, it just, I watched him play and I thought he's got a strong alarm, but everything I'm seeing out of him is it would it be sustainable for a whole game, or for a whole, or for a game stretch, or a whole season.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_04]: I thought, I just felt like I was watching a backup.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_04]: I guess it's hard to explain, but that's just kind of like what I felt like I was watching.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not in, like you said, this was his first preseason action, like live game action.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_04]: So he can get better from here.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not like selling his career.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_04]: If I'm selling any QB on this Ross right now, it's Kenny Peckett.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm selling Kenny Peckett.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm letting Joe Flacco be this starter at the beginning of the year.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm letting, and I'm developing Dylan in Chador because I think,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: I think she doors the quarterback of the future, but I saw enough out of Dylan to like at least be like, we're not complete idiots for track.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_04]: We're entertained.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they drafted him.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think we all assumed to be a good backup quarterback for this roster, thinking that they didn't have a shot at getting a starter this year, right?
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you just said backup quarterback is what he looks like he could be a high-end backup.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what he is.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_04]: We take a guy in the third round, though, that you think is going to be your backup of the future.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know and then give back I first team reps.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: They're not they're not treating him like they think he's the backup of the future.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_04]: At least for my point of view.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_04]: They took him with a top one hundred pick and they're giving him first team reps.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_04]: They're treating him like they think he's going to be a starter.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I think
- 9:57[SPEAKER_04]: If anything, if there's any quarterback on the roster that should be getting kind of like that leeway in terms of, we think this guy could be the future to me, it should doer.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think it was, you can say Dylan Gabriel operated the offense efficiently and you get in the same breath, you can still say it should doer is better in his debut, like clearly.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_04]: Where do you guys stand?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: on the browns right now in terms of outlook for the season now that we've watched two preseason games we've seen two sessions of joint practices are you guys feeling better about how the season is going to go do you still feel the same or are you like me and we might we're even worse than I thought like where do you guys kind of sit on the browns right now
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take it, Josh.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: I went into the season to this point.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: My expectations weren't great.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is one of the first years where I went in, where I was last year was awful, and man, this looks a lot like last year already.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: We just went, what I was leading up to it.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, just the circus and everything.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: After two pre-season games, I'm very encouraged.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think our defense is going to be way, way better, advertised than we would have liked to think.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: We knew they were going to be okay, but we worried that the offense would kind of leave them to dry.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: They look like they don't care.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: They look like their goal is to go out, stop the other team's offense, and win some games for the Browns.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm cautiously optimistic, heading into the season.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Manly Bands.

- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Discover quality and excellence in all things outdoors with Mount Hope fence.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: I would say back think back half of twenty twenty three with unknown outcomes for each game because that's kind of what it was we were winning games.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Despite some turnover despite some mistakes we're winning on the back of strong defense and effective quarterback play from Joe Flacco and running against the fancies offense.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to be a more competitive this year than what we might have originally thought.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: Cause just seems to fanski's offense, the vanilla version of it in the preseason.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, how refreshing after last year's catastrophe of Ken Dorsey garbage.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it may not be the most, you know, modernized or, you know, whatever tricky offense out there in the NFL, but it is efficient.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it is effective as long as you have a competent quarterback who can run it.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it looks like we do.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like we have at least three of them.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: And whether we win a lot of the games or not, I don't know, games the NFL can go one way or the other on it.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just a couple mistakes here, there are a couple plays, but I think for at least going to be more competitive than what we thought.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_04]: that's kind of obviously we've won both the preseason games and I thought I mean the defense defense like you said Justin I think I said it yesterday it might be a problem we haven't even we're not even watching miles play with Mason Graham and all these guys like I think Carson's question here could end up being like the best defensive player taken in this draft possibly and that's including we just in Mason Graham I think it's going to be he's
- 14:29[SPEAKER_04]: wrecking people by all accounts.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: Almost even more encouraging than the game is from everything I read.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_04]: The Browns kind of took it to the Eagles in their joint practice sessions.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_04]: Like the offense may be struggled a little bit in day one, but the defense was dominant.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: And then everything I heard out of day two was like the offense is starting to get clicked in a little bit.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: And the defense is just suffocating.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_04]: Like the Eagles can't do anything.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think the one thing I saw was
- 14:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like Miles Garrett just basically would it sack jail and hurts every play.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_04]: Like if he if it wasn't practice and he wasn't just getting through and standing up, the Eagles literally would not be able to run a play.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody can block Miles Garrett and
- 15:13[SPEAKER_04]: So that's encouraging.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: That's almost even more, that's like more encouraging than the game because that's the ones versus the ones, the best versus the best.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_04]: So like, I'm with you, Josh.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if I'm changing my outlook from like us being a three or four when team tops to all the side.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_04]: And I think we're a playoff contender, but
- 15:32[SPEAKER_04]: I do think that we're we play way more competitive and we're in games in like you said maybe Dustin Hopkins misses two field goals so it's a loss instead of a win but I do think that we're going to be worth watching and
- 15:48[SPEAKER_04]: It seems like this draft is kind of doing what we thought what we said it needed to do.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_04]: We said they need to hit on multiple starters out of this draft.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_04]: I kind of make this retool more of a quick one year retool as opposed to a multi year rebuild and it kind of seems like this draft.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's obviously early and it's only preseason but it seems like we hit on enough players where this is going to be like a one year retool possibly where we maybe we do surprise people when we make kicks and we push for a playoff spot but then looking into the future into next year and another draft and another year of free agency like maybe we are like still
- 16:31[SPEAKER_04]: like we're not going to just go off a cliff is I guess is what I'm trying to say.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_04]: Like we're still going to be a relevant football team for years to come because it appears that we hit on Graham rushing her.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_04]: Judd kids will hopefully get signed here and then fan in, you know, like there's we we might have got out of this draft with four to five even six starters.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's huge.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I good Josh, I think you're.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: You were saying they a bond has to bring to the table because he was more.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: projected as, you know, maybe a mid-second.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think by most people, I mean, I was talking to somebody online today and I was saying, listen, Matthew Golden didn't have very, you know, overwhelming college production or anything, but he went to the combine, showed off some elite, you know, athletic traits.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he had enough on tape as far as wide receiver skill set to get him into the first round.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think Isaiah Bond would have definitely been a second round pick.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: So, if the Browns come away with, you know, Judkins, Swesinger, and Bond, and then Harold Fanon, who maybe, you know, was a very, very high third round pick.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like that, right?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's a core group of guys that you got in this draft.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: That could really be helping us.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: We left last year going, man, we got a lot of holes.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: We got a lot of holes on this team.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: The loss of draft picks, you know, it's very evident.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we got old very quickly.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Blake, you nailed it.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: We had to hit on a lot of picks.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think we hit on a bunch of those picks.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think that there's two other guys and, you know, we're talking about should or he could probably, there's a really good chance that he could be our guy.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: And then the bond signing is, you know,
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it could be any more critical.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: We might, I might not like it, but at a position where depth is extremely minimal, huge influx of talent.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_04]: When I kind of shift focused in another guy who I've been super impressed with through two preseason games in this offseason so far is a money marshal.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not gonna, I would keep him over Jerome Ford ten times out of ten right now.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_04]: especially if you're going to especially if you're going to get quench on judge kids under contract and he you're going to get him in the building and you know by a week two or three quench on judge kids is here is your one number one back in Dylan is your number two to a money marshal to me is a better first and second down writing back to room four from what I've seen he's got good vision he runs with power breaks tackles like
- 19:03[SPEAKER_04]: He is, he seems better to me than Jerome Ford.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe he doesn't have the top end speed once he gets into the open field.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure what is forty time and all that good stuff is, but he hasn't ripped a long one yet, but just on like a per-down basis, I've been way more impressed with him in two preseason games than I've been it.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen some past pro from Marshall to like last week on Shoulder Second Touchdown Pass.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: There was a linebacker with Marshall came across and picked it up and that's you know let should or step to the right and make that throw.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to be, I'm going to be a little bit irritated if he's just kind of getting all this run because Quenchon's not hearing, Jerome Ford's hurt, and then it gets down to roster cut down time, and he's just, he's like one of the first things we hear cut.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, well, Jerome Ford's the guy, so he's here, so he just gets that spot and I'm like, well, Jerome Ford, no.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: How strong over him.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, so hear me out.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: I know a lot of people aren't happy yesterday.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the run game looked great yesterday.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: I was happy with the run game for having thirty two yards.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: I watch does not have a run game for, you know, a whole season last year, basically.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was super thrilled with all the pier strong, super happy with.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I thought the vision was good after contact was good.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: He kept turning for extra yards.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think Marshall, I like Marshall a lot.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think he kind of ends up being a practice squad guy.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think he just, if we can get him on the practice squad, I would be extremely happy.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't think that they're going to cut forward, especially after restructuring him and everything.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: I just, he's a Andrew Barry draft pick.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: He, I don't think he's going anywhere.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't, we made him take a pick to come back to this team and then he's done zero practicing, right?
- 20:49[SPEAKER_04]: Like so I don't understand like why that would guarantee a roster spot.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: We obviously didn't feel good enough to bring you back at your value anyways.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_04]: We made you take a peek at the comeback of this team.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_04]: You know so like I just to me I don't know.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_04]: I thought a money marshals look way better to me.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not disagreeing with you, bro.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: The same reason that I watched this role.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: See, only Taki Taki out there a year after a year or Tokyo I or any of those other guys would be the same reason I would tell you that they're not going to move forward.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_04]: We, uh, I do think we're going to run the ball a lot better this year.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: We ran for a hundred twenty five yards and that pain does game a hundred and thirty six yards.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's what I said yesterday, our hundred thirty two yards.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think you're seeing a commitment to the running game this year that we didn't have last year.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and that's going to help any whoever plays quarterback, whether it be Joe Flacco or Dylan or Stu or God forbid Kenny Pickett like, um,
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: Where do we stand?
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: I guess to kind of like, I guess we'll rewind back to the quarterback position here a little bit.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: Are they going to take all four in?
- 21:55[SPEAKER_04]: Or is Kenny Pickett going to be gone?
- 21:56[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't see a world in which Kenny, what is Kenny Pickett done for this team to prove that he deserves a roster spot?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great point, man.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's been nothing but injured.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like all of training canvy.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand how you can be in a four-way quarterback competition with one guy who's clearly the QB one.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like we don't, there's no question.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: They should announce that tomorrow.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Flacco's QB one for week one, all that stuff.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got these two rookies that you drafted and they have already shown on the field in game action that they can play football in the NFL level.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got this other guy who's a failed first former first round pick.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, was injured as, you know, during his first two seasons as a starter, then last year was a backup, and now he's injured again has gotten like no training camp reps, has gotten no preseason reps.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: Why is he still QB two in the pecking order?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't, I don't know.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_04]: I did see a video with Andrew Slyada where he's talking to these guys.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_04]: The QB depth chart stuff.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't matter.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's a matter on terms of, but he's taken the first team rep still.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like when they go to seven to seven, it's pick it and then Gabriel.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Why is pick it still getting reps?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_04]: And seven I don't really give a shit about seven on seven reps like it's not real football.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_04]: By all accounts Doug Gabriel looks really good in seven on seven.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_04]: Well if this was the flight football league then I would care about that.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying if he's not really here.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: What's it?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_04]: I care about or eleven on eleven like real football reps, but
- 23:20[SPEAKER_04]: they said he was signing a video and he was like there's coaches that don't even know the order of the depth chart like the media essentially puts that out like that you'll go be like hey what about should or at number four and somebody will be like I didn't even know that's where he was that for today so I guess like the depth chart stuff is a little overblown but in terms of who's getting reps is definitely important
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think Brown knows, though, because it's clearly that the order of reps has been the same.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: It has always been pick it and then Gabriel and then Gabriel before should or like, that has never really varied.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_04]: I do think they have, I don't want to say explaining to do, but after watching Dylan in this game, and then after watching should do her in his game, it's going to, it's tough to come out and say, Dylan so much further ahead.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 24:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's,
- 24:15[SPEAKER_04]: Chador didn't have any pre-stat penalties, I think one legal motion didn't have to pop anytime out to get organized, didn't turn the ball over through two touchdown passes.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_04]: So it's hard to continue to drive that narrative when now everybody's seen it with we've seen it with our own eyes like who operated it better.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: Dylan, you can say Dylan operated it good enough and still admit to yourself I should do our operated it at a higher level.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_04]: So it'll be curious to see now that they've both seen game action
- 24:45[SPEAKER_04]: What's going to happen?
- 24:46[SPEAKER_04]: It's also tough to tell because this freaking oblique injury.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: That is really out through on a wrench into this.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_04]: Now they, you know, he can not get reps and all this stuff and it can just be, well, he's got the oblique injury and it's just like, I don't understand how we have four quarterbacks, three of them in their twenties and one of them is carries an AARP card and that's the one who's healthy.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_04]: I don't understand how this is going on here.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_04]: who would have thought you'd have four quarterbacks and it not be enough in training camp.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like we were real lucky to Tyler not having to watch Tyler hardly play four whole quarters.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: I have it and I have a backup.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: Who would have been the bad decision?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: We almost had to do that.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: That was insane.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: The thing with the oblique injury though, they are reporting that
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the Browns are optimistic should do or compact us this week and hopefully played next Saturday against the Rams.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: And yesterday in the pregame, should or was like he was dressed yesterday for the game.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he wasn't going to play, but he was out there throwing to David and Joe Cooper before the game.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the oblique injury was that bad that he was, you know, at risk of missing a whole bunch of time this week.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he would have been throwing out there, especially not where obviously everybody can see you in the cameras can see you.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: So that gives me optimism that it's not as bad as it could have been.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I agree.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_04]: If it was a tough injury.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like you would have been in sweats.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you know, that kind of thing.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_04]: So kind of shifting focus to the defensive side of the ball for a minute.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think the, I think the Browns are going to have some tough decisions to make when it comes roster, cut down because of how deep this defense of wine is like, I say, I'm a liar.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_04]: Looks good.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_04]: Dolls.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_04]: That looks remarkable.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that looks right.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_04]: That looks right.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_04]: Looks real good.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: Joe Trion Shoyanka, dog flash yesterday.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_04]: Like we,
- 26:36[SPEAKER_04]: We got some dudes up front to where it's like, do we just keep all of them?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was eating it in Huntington, the UDFA just because what he does on freaking kick off team.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_04]: He's been watching this defensive front without miles, Mason Graham in limited action.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_04]: These guys are getting after it.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_04]: There's going to be some tough decisions like who?
- 27:01[SPEAKER_04]: Who gets the not opposite miles because I feel like Alex right has played really well.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_04]: And I say him acquires balling out to their both.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_04]: So it seems to be.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_04]: Is it going to be one person opposite him?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_04]: Are they going to be?
- 27:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's going to be miles and then a rotation and you're just keeping somebody fresh on the opposite side of miles over and over and over.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think you kind of figure out as maybe the first few weeks play out to who's better guy on like first and second down.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: When you're not really sure if it's going to be a pass for running in who's your pass rush like it.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is a passing down.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: Who is the specialist on that?
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: It might be JTS just because of how he, he's so fast and is get off his insane, but it's a very good problem to have.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is brought to you by Bodden Sports.

- 28:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's been encouraging.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_04]: I think I saw one point.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_04]: It was like late in the game or maybe they had to go look at their team stats, but the Eagles had like fifty yards passing.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: So they ended up with eighty eight total yards at the end of the day.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_04]: What I was going to say is that they finished the game with fifty six yards passing.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: Now.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: late in the game and you're still seeing heavy heavy defense of life.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Julian Aquora still like they're it's end of the game and these guys are still relentlessly and we still haven't even seen the first team like you were saying we haven't seen Malik Collins and Mason Graham and Miles Garrett and the second and third team defensive line is feasting.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's going to be absolutely insane
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: like this is so we're talking yesterday this is it's all relative right because it was all second and third string guys for the entire game for both teams.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: The Brown this just speaks to the Brown's depth kind of really both ways to and what they're able to do how things are trickling down because we had three hundred and thirty one yards of total offense and like Justin said we held them to just eighty eight and again I know this is a preseason game but those numbers are staggering three thirty to eighty eight that is a humongous difference and you're talking how do we only win by nine
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, actually yeah, they and one of their touchdowns was for them on defense.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, pick six.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the Eagles are a deep roster.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: One of the most deep complete rosters.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: They're there what we want to do.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, you look at the Andrew Barry model.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: How he rose me and has it figured out.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: He is loaded at every position.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: Top the back.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: Um, do we miss any kick yesterday?
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we almost did.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: Almost did.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't, it was close.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: And what we, and we botched a botched an extra point.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what a bad snap.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I couldn't get the snap as bad.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_04]: So a bad snap.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_04]: All I could think of myself was we had the bad snap yesterday and I watched Charlie Hewlett not have a bad snap for his thirty five years of service here.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_04]: Why did we not?
- 31:05[SPEAKER_04]: Why is Charlie Hewlett not still on this team?
- 31:08[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 31:09[SPEAKER_04]: I don't, that's like a, you have this guy who's the longest tenured brown.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_04]: He never messes up.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_04]: He's like, excellent.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, one of the most reliable long sappers.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you only reason you know who he is is because he's been here so long.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_04]: If he wasn't, you would have no idea who he is because he never messes up.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: And then that's a guy that we decide to cut ties with.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm just like, why?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_04]: Well, hi.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I feel like all these long sappers probably make around the same amount of money anyways, like no long snappers getting huge contracts are all on like one year deals for probably a million dollars or something.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_04]: Just bring back the guy who's been doing it here for thirty years.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, I didn't understand that move.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, I'm being hyperbolic inside joke from yesterday.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: You know, in terms of how long you was here, but you get the point.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to have to spill it out exactly what I meant to you.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody wants to see this.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be like, what a kick.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's talking about.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: Why?
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: Can we have something up over here on the topic of this?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: Good.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_02]: Are we, uh, is this team going to make a kicking change for four week one?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Dude.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, sir, today.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: And we're two or two.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I made an extra point at a forty-nine-yard field goal.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Smith and I put that forty-nine in right down the middle.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, hmm, I think I've seen enough.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_04]: I just think, I don't understand how you could roll into a game with, because you're not going to take two kickers.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_04]: No, right?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Hold her back.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_04]: So, so, which means if you have a guy in the building who can do it and you cut him just because you have dust and Hopkins and you want to give, and then you get to week one and you miss his two field goals and you lose to the bangles like, and then you're just going to be
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: up Creek without a lot of so it's going to go call Schmidt up and get him out here.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a chance to rebound next week.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_04]: But just I'm I don't want to lose games because we can't make kicks.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Been there.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to like it's going to be enough of an uphill battle.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_04]: You know, and we have a tough enough schedule that if we have a chance to steal wins.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to give that away because we missed a thirty-five yard field goal or we missed him extra point.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_04]: Like that, I'll be so irritated.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Dustin Hopkins is clearly not right.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's not okay.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's something physically after that hamstring injury two years ago just has not healed correctly and he is mechanics just have never come correct or he mentally he's just not there anymore like whatever it is he is not okay and I do not think that they can go into this season with him on the roster.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's fair, man.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm kind of with you on it.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it sucks.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's a guy that's been with this team.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: He kind of, he was the answer to Kate York that we needed and was really refreshing and the guy would go out there, try it out, and games that we'd go off.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is going to be a mess.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to lose this game.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: He started winning those games with kicks.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: I remember celebrating a chargers win and it was actually a loss and then a year later on a miskick and then a year later I was celebrating a win with Hopkins on a kick but you're right he's clearly not right whether it is mentally physically it's a huge liability he almost missed the one he kicked yesterday it's uh... and it's not really being talked about
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I guess then I was kind of looking at wide receivers.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, the big news is we added Isaiah Bond.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_04]: We saw such a Tilman yesterday, make a catch.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_04]: So you, I don't know.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_04]: The Dante Johnson makes his team.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think about it.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_04]: Like talk about a guy that we, we, we, we knew.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_04]: that he had issues but we all kind of thought like if he comes in with his head on straight he could be a steal like he could have been a super good signing for this team if he comes in and it appears like his head's on straight but he just doesn't seem like he's that good anymore he drops the ball he just just not very good
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, based on what I read, we talked about this in episode's past, but it sounds like he said the issues last year stemmed from not getting the playing time that he thought he deserved to be in the type of receiver he is over his career and all that kind of stuff.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's been running exclusively with the twos and sometimes the threes in camp, he's been playing in these preseason games.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of get the vibe from him like,
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: effort, you know, like he's kind of just not fully bought in any more to what we're trying to do.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: And it's showing that the drops, the poor route yesterday, where he's running into Blake Whiteheart and all that stuff.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just don't think he makes this team.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_04]: It costs us nothing to bring him in here than just dump her.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_04]: And he kind of sucks because like, that was, that was a guy I was like, man, he could be a sneaky good number two for us if he got his stuff together.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want him or he won't lower it in.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, even then, like, Lardine, a hundred percent roster spot wise, like if it's going to come down to a roster spot, I watch that game yesterday and I go, I'd rather Jamari thrash have that spot.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: If, you know, obviously, he's not in danger of being kept, but I'm saying, like, if we're going to talk about, if we're talking about starters, let me see that kid on the field, because that kid, he looked great yesterday.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_02]: He looked super comfortable.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: He looked awesome.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_04]: I was going to bring up Jamari Thresh.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's one of those things where disappointing rookie season in the last year, but I mean, who wasn't disappointing in this offense last year?
- 36:49[SPEAKER_04]: But I like what I see out of him in this preseason so far.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_04]: Is it going to translate to the regular season when he's going against starters and all that stuff?
- 36:58[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, but I've seen enough out of him to at least be intrigued until I give him some of that opportunity because
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: he's strong with the ball and he's athletic and fast like he's he's got like a little bit of mean in him you know and so I uh I've liked what I've seen out of January thrashed like he could be a sneaky a sneaky guy for us this year he made a grab last week in the Carolina game should work on it with the ball out in front of him a little bit and he just plucked it out of the air you know snagged it was like you know that could have been in completion gone through his hands and just skit down the field but he he caught that thing it was moving he had some hum on it and that was nice play
- 37:34[SPEAKER_04]: I think your, your wide receiver positions are Jerry Judy.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_04]: Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: The Andre Carter, I still think is a lock just for returns.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so there's four.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_04]: So you're probably what we're probably carrying six.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_04]: So then you got, I think gauge larver day makes this team.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's bond and larver day and bond.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's going to be your wide receiver core.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_04]: And if Jerry Judy can repeat,
- 38:05[SPEAKER_04]: If Cedric Tillman can stay healthy and Jamari Thresh is ascending, like he kind of looks like he is.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_04]: And then Isaiah Bond is what he's touted to be.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not gonna say you're gonna say we're the bangles, but maybe it's not as dire as it seemed a month ago.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean, like before we got pads on and started seeing these guys play a little bit.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_04]: Because obviously there are some big F's in there.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_04]: If Jerry Judy can have a repeat number one wide receiver season, the big F is if Cedric Tilman can stay healthy for any kind of stretch, you know, if Jemari Thrasch can take some of this and translate it to against the starters.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_04]: Those are obviously big F's.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_04]: But if you can hit even on three of your four F's here, all of a sudden your wide receiver cores looking much better than you thought it was going to be.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then we were talking to like, what do you think, Blake, about the, I feel like there's a difference between gauge larva Dan and Caden Davis, who have both played very well in the preseason played very well in training camp and all this kind of stuff, but to me, Caden Davis seems like
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to come out here and be that sort of impressive, wider receiver in the preseason, but he's probably a practice squad guy.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you're keeping him around, whereas the stuff gauge Larva Dan does, his skill set, the way he plays the receiver position, I feel like that is translatable to the NFL.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like not obviously top three receiver on the team type stuff, but you can get him in there on a Sunday whenever a guy needs to come out or you got somebody, you know, in the medical tent for a minute, and he can come out there, run around, maybe even be the third read on a play and make a play if he needs to.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_04]: I like the way he runs up all too.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_04]: On these end around.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, he's got, he's got good vision.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_04]: And he, he's not even though he's a smart guy.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_04]: He's not afraid to just like stick his foot in the ground, get north and south.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_04]: Like he sees the whole makes his quick cut, makes a decision gets going.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I don't want to just keep him as just a gadget guy because then, which the Browns have a history of doing that.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_04]: This guy hasn't played in three quarters.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_04]: And then we put him out there.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_04]: And then we run and end around to him.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, hmm.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_04]: They sell it.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_04]: Wait a set that up, guys.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 40:11[SPEAKER_04]: But I think if this is a guy like you said that if you're sprinkling him in the game throughout the game he's getting a snap or two in the first and a snap or two in the third and then you come out in the third quarter and he's been on the field kind of organically and then you hit an end round.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: He's fast and he gets north and south like he can give you a chunk play here and there.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_04]: I've been super impressed with everything I've seen out of him.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_04]: I would, you know, like I said, my six would be the Judy Tillman Thresh, Isaiah Bond, Gait Flavodane, and Carter, and Carter.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_04]: That would be my wide receiver court.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_04]: My running backs would be, Queen Sean Judd, Kinsons, we get him signed, Dylan Samson, and I'd be wrong with the money Marshall.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_04]: Jerome Ford can go play somewhere else in my opinion.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_04]: And my quarterback could be Joe Flacco to start
- 40:59[SPEAKER_04]: And once this season's done, which could be anywhere between three to five games, that I'd be rolling with Shidorah.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_04]: And it would be seeing what we got as we had in the next year, where we have two first round traffic.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_04]: That's how I'd be doing things if I was running the team.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, I'm not.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just sitting here in this room podcasting.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: But that's how I would do it.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_04]: Because I do think I think there's some bright spots on the roster.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think we I think we did well enough in this draft in fan.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to make this team as a tight end and he's got, but he's basically a wide receiver.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_04]: So just having fan in.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_04]: Make you only keep five.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_04]: So you can keep a roster spot free for one of these other positions a defensive linemen or if they want to roll with all four quarterbacks into the season.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: I would say that would put you very thin.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: Very just based on like injuries that are going to occur over the season.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: I would.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_04]: I would say do you do you put like do you keep?
- 42:03[SPEAKER_04]: Judy.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_04]: Thrash.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_04]: I say a bond in Carter and then you like practice squad, Larva Dane.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_04]: And that because you have fan and he's going to play a lot in the wide receiver position.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_04]: That way you can keep.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: an extra defensive line, and an extra DB, or they don't want to get rid of these four quarterbacks or something.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_04]: You have a roster spot available since you kind of have that hybrid tight-end wide receiver guy.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Southern New Hampshire University.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Brons fans, do you ever feel stuck in your current job?
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you just had a different degree or some more education in a certain area, you could do something you really want to do.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: While Southern New Hampshire University has the answers for you, head over to SNHU.edu slash bark to learn how you can get started on your new career today.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: SNHU is one of the largest online accredited universities in the United States and it's radically affordable.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Their online tuition rates are some of the lowest in the nation.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: So seriously, what are you waiting for?
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: Head over to SNHU.edu slash bark to learn how you can get started on your degree for your new career.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: One hundred percent online and one hundred percent on your time.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: SNHU.edu slash bark.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I see what you're saying.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: It does make sense.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would hate to do it that way because I agree with you.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think can he pick and he's to go, you know, the whole point having this quarterback competition was to narrow it down not to just continue the freaking competition into the season.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's have more guys to it.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, guys and complicate.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: No, we, we've seen what we need to see.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Flacco clearly is the one.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Should or I just, I do think that he's, he's the right guy that he's the answer for that QB two to transition to at some point.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: keeping can you pick it in lieu of trying to get gauge larva down onto the practice squad and maybe somebody you know snaking him away from us.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I want to risk that.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_04]: And I guess my biggest thing would be, even if it's not a quarterback, if it's to keep another defensive line, and who's going to give you five sex this year, over a wide receiver, who, if he's the six wide receiver, is never going to play.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_04]: Like, do you, do you weigh that, you know, and say, I'm going to take the five sex this guy and throw this guy on my practice squad and just, you know, if he gets poached to gets poached, but I'm going to take the guy who I know is going to give me more on this team this year.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_04]: That's where, like,
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's why you can pay the big bucks in your berry to make these decisions So one thing that I wanted to point out just on that topic too, you know as far as the D line goes we might actually get Depending on how things go here in the next two weeks get gifted a spot because Mike Hall junior still on the pop
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, coming off of that knee surgery.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if he's ready to start the season.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: So if he's not taking up a roster spot, that might let you keep one of those extra D line men that you weren't going to previously be able to.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, what's going on?
- 45:03[SPEAKER_04]: Where are we at with him?
- 45:04[SPEAKER_04]: Is he going to be back at any point?
- 45:07[SPEAKER_04]: Just a rough start to an NFL career.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_04]: That hasn't been great.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm very, I'm, I'm curious to see if we're, we're going to get clinch on sign before too long now.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: I bet you we signed him today.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: By the time people listen to this, or watch this, he might already be signed.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: But bond, bond, supposed to sign, uh, it was supposed to sign last night.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: So I would expect Judge Kins is going to be rabbi.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I do want to say this, like I've been seeing this go around social media this morning.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's reporting.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's expected to be a three year deal for Isaiah Bond.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, Oh, that makes him a roster lock.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: UDFA contracts are almost always three-year deals.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: So this, I mean, it's the money that I'm waiting to see.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what kind of guarantees does it get?
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: What's the overall contract?
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because the three-year thing is not a big deal.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's a typical UDFA contract.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: Before we wrap up, I didn't want to talk.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_04]: We didn't want to spend a ton of time, but what did you guys think of the Dylan Gabriel kind of quote after the game?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_04]: What do you say?
- 46:03[SPEAKER_04]: Something like some people's job it is to entertain and some people's job to compete and I'm here to compete.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_04]: What did you guys think it was?
- 46:12[SPEAKER_04]: Shoulder stands, which
- 46:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a chador fan.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_04]: I won't say I'm a chador stan.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like there's a fine line between like being able to want chador to be our guy and also not just be stupidly pro chador.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_04]: They just took it in rain.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like all this guy's calling out chador.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_04]: Chador's gonna so much better than him blah blah.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: I took it as more of like a shot at some local Browns media.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_04]: What did you guys think?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I'm at.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_02]: I took it as he was leading up to this game.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: That dude was under tons of pressure.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: All the Cleveland media, everything has been, hey, this guy's not that good.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: Is he gonna play?
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: Why did we take him in the third round?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it was just him telling the media like, hey, us, podcast guys, media, everybody.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really care what you guys have to say.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it was a shot it should or at all.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was just more Cleveland media.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that especially when it happened live, it was, there's a lot of noise.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: This was during the second half after he had just been taken out and Huntley was in there.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: So there's commotion going on.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: The game broadcast is going back and forth to the place.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: So it was a little bit easy to get out of the context with it.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: But he did say, you know, hey, there's because she asked him a DD asking,
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: what you know how do you guys blocking out the noise and not letting it infiltrate the room and he said hey there you know there's entertainers and there's competitors and I'm just you know I'm here to compete and she even said as soon as he said that she's like okay well let you get out of here since you know you kind of just called me out on that so she understood right away that he was saying you're the media you're the ones out here to entertain I'm the player I'm here to compete on the field so she she definitely knew exactly what he meant right away
- 47:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I just, there's never been any part of Dylan Gabriel's like, to meaner or locker room presence that tells me he would take shots at players in the media.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 48:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like, he's just, that's just not the kind of duty is or the player he is.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_04]: I might not think he's as good of a quarterback, but I still think like he's a solid dude in the locker room, a good locker room guy, you know, so I just wanted to kind of put that to bed.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_04]: I know a lot of people were taking it and running with it and saying he's calling out Shoulder and I just like,
- 48:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, it's just not make a thing of this Browns fan.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, we got enough on our plate to worry about.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_04]: We don't need to be deciphering things like this all week.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_04]: Let's get our players signed and just kind of stay healthy.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_04]: Get through this last preseason game and get to the regular season and see if we can't start rattling off some wins.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: So, uh, do you guys have anything else you guys want to talk about for yesterday's game?
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: I just have one quick one.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I just want to say that I've been very impressed with the offensive line last two games.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: Based on what we saw last year, I feel like they have come a long way.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: Whether it's to go back to Kevin's defense, he's, you know, bread and butter.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: I've just been very, very, very happy with what I've seen.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're not even seeing like the unit yet.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: The one guy that I am concerned with on the offensive line.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know who it is.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think it is?
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to say center.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: It is that center.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for a bit from last year.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like he is not up yesterday.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_04]: that one line back at the one uh... don't give you a no shot and he didn't move his feet he just tried to like reach and pushing on my bro's side or feet to something that was such a second sack because it was one on one with the guy when he like all he had to do is get his way and he just
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Watched him go.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, he just played him.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_04]: It was not good.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, not good at all.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he missed last week.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't go to Carolina last week because he was out with the injury.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: So he hasn't been practicing.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was a little bit up and down, rough looking last year as a rookie.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, he was an older rookie too.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: So he's like, twenty four already in his second year coming off the injury at Michigan.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm concerned.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just concerned about his progress.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_04]: But all right, well, we will wrap this thing up speaking of Michigan.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_04]: What a joke.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_04]: But there's two things I'm going to say here.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_04]: One, the NCAA is soft.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_04]: and corrupt the fact that you can make a Ohio State vacate wins for trading tattoos and you can take away a high school trophy from Reggie Bush for the USC paying for a house for his mom to live in.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: But you won't take away wins and vacate national championships and stuff.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_04]: What you you're saying they cheated.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_04]: You're you're saying they cheated.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_04]: You found them guilty of cheating and you're saying well, it would
- 50:43[SPEAKER_04]: It would be a really long post year postseason ban like multi year, but none of these players and stuff were here.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_04]: So we don't want to punish them.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_04]: You punished Ohio State players.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_04]: We had to have a postseason ban.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_04]: We went undefeated and couldn't play in a bowl game, even though those players weren't there anymore.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_04]: You coach.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_04]: You had no problem doing it to USC.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_04]: You get, and you give up this, just nobody's gotten a higher corner stallions.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_04]: Jim Harbaugh has never come back to college, so these show, show clauses or whatever.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody, just a softest punishment.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then their coach got to pick what games he was going to suspend himself for, just what a joke, an absolute joke.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_04]: And then to then Michigan fans who were like celebrating like, oh, they didn't bring the hammer down.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_04]: Ha, ha, ha, we told you so.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_04]: They said they,
- 51:36[SPEAKER_04]: They said you cheated.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_04]: Congratulations, you got away with cheating.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_04]: I hope you feel good about your tainted national championship.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_04]: You're happy that you didn't get in trouble for cheating.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_04]: You're not saying we didn't cheat.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_04]: You're just happy that you didn't get in that much trouble for cheating till when your national championship.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody for all time will always know you want it because you cheated.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_04]: Congratulations.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you're back in the dumpster.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome home.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_04]: So that's how we'll wrap this thing up.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_04]: God, I freaking hate Michigan.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_04]: So, all right, we'll wrap this thing up.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_04]: I had to dive into that.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_04]: You said Michigan, it just set me up.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad I did it.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad I got you going on that.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_04]: That was good.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm going to be storming around the household day now, wife and kid are going to be watching this again.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_04]: But let's wrap this thing up so we can go about our days.
