- 0:00SPEAKER_01: We had already started the show with a lot.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: We were talking about how uh it was a very pretty morning this morning.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Very bright though.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: I had to put down the uh you know the the flapper on the uh uh on the windshield as I was driving down the hill.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: I'm like, man, that's like blinding.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Um we obviously talked about, you know, why a house cleaning project only creates bigger, like never-ending like you th you're like, I'm gonna take Saturday.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: We're gonna clean all day Saturday, which ends up becoming how was it on Wednesday yesterday all day was laundry changing beds.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I'm like, wasn't this part of the big cleanup?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Like, is it never an over with project?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Not really, because I also think the same thing about just I mean other little things that I'm doing around my house.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And we were even talking about putting a bathroom in my basement, and I'm like, you know, I'm gonna get there.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Rome wasn't built in a few years.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: That's an I'm gonna get there project.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, totally.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: But even with the yard, I was like, I'm not gonna do all of this in a day.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Like I want to, but I'm not.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: And you know what caused this problem where you want to do it all in a day, was like shows like Property Brothers and stuff like that, where, oh, look, in an hour I have a brand new house.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Not at all the way contracting works.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, definitely not.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Because I mean, even just the little bit that I did yesterday after work, I was like, okay, and I'm good.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Plenty of extra.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Thanks for that.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: I was like, I'm gonna dig up these stones and I'm gonna move them.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I'm like, but not today.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: No, yeah, right?
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Gotta get done.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Just not today.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: All right, so you're starting out 54.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: We're going to about 70 today.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: That's perfect.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think that's perfect.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: I was thinking, should I have turned on the AC?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I don't think I need to.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think you need to now.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: In fact, I opened some windows today because yesterday was a bit of an AC day.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, pugs have a tendency to overheat because you know, if it gets to 50.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: So uh they had a little air conditioning yesterday.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Today I'm like, no, you're gonna have 70 and sunny.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Let the breeze flow.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Last night I ended up rolling up out the windows, rolling out the windows.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Well, I do have to roll out.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: I do crank it.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: That's what that was the rolling motion.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I rolled out the mouth.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Apparently, Heather is going to love both of us today because she texted.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: She goes, I love Scott's technical uh terms.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: The flapper on the visor.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Or in this case, Allie rolling out the windows like it's the red carpet.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: The little crank window.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: 3386.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Scott, do you leave early today or tomorrow?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, that would be today.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, actually, the kids will be around, I think, well, just before eight.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: And oh, I was checking that.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: So their eye appointment is in a weego.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, we go.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I have a Wigo story, actually.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, and uh we have to because nothing can be close.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: And uh so we So why do you guys go all the way out there?
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Well, our regular eye doctor that was here retired.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Dr.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Dave retired, but Lydia, we got recommended there because, well, that's a whole long story.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Whether Lydia or not needed some sort of vision therapy, girl has no balance, and they were trying to hawk me a$2,500 package, and I'm like, Oh, for and which included me driving to Owego like three times a week, and I'm like, No.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: All right, well, we're gonna go today and have this here I appointment, and we're gonna see where we stand now before I commit to that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Stop.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: All right, do you want to hear the Owego thing?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So after five years, the Owego Fire Department steam fire engine is returning to Tioga County.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Yes, it was built in 1866, and they said it was sent away for restoration five years ago.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Now the steam fire engine is the oldest operating engine in the United States.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: It went to Maine for a new boiler, and then it came back, and it's uh it isn't just for display.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: They say it's capable of pumping 700 gallons of water per minute.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Now something tells me they're not gonna roll that out to a rolling fire, but no, no, no.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: But how cool is this?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Like that is cool.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Um, let me see where it's displayed at really quick since you're gonna be in that area.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And if that isn't a fire department project without saying let's do a fire department project, uh-huh, that's it right there.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Restoring an 1866 fire truck.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: The total cost of the project was around$500,000.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: My God, you could have bought a new pumper.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: But the the community came together to raise the entire amount.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Uh so let's say it didn't cost taxpayers anything.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: So while you're in a Wego today, it says the steam fire engine will be housed in the steamer house building on North Avenue, and everyone is encouraged to go and take a look at it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: That might be something I mean, your kids are kind of out of that phase.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: That'd be more like something you would be interested in.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, but you know, it's a nice story.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I I don't know that I'm gonna do that.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, if I was there, you are gonna be there.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I'm going there for a purpose and then getting the heck out.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Like I gotta get kids back to school.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is not a random day of oh no, I'm oh Scott's the slave driver with this.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: We don't get to take the day off because you have a 9 45 eye appointment.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: You'll be in school by noon at the latest.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: How is it that Gail all of a sudden just got cooler than you?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Because whenever we would have an early dentist appointment, especially a dentist appointment, there was a couple things that would happen.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: We would go to the dentist very early.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: We would either get out of school or not go to school.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: And then usually we would actually be getting out of school because I remember you'd are there, they'd always be like, Alicia Penn, please report to the office.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Alicia Pine, please report to the office.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And then afterwards we would go get a strawberry McDonald's milkshake.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, after you have those teeth clean, that's a great thing to get.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's cool.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: And then I just had seven cavities filled.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Let's get a milkshake.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: And then and I don't always a milkshake, which is weird because I never drink milkshakes.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: But anyway, uh, and then we had the entire day off.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: No, that's not happening.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I don't play that game.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: We are a slave driver.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: No, no, you will get some sort of an education.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna come back to work, are you?
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Uh well, that depends.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I might.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, it depends how.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I have a meeting at one o'clock.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Well, there's things I could do.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: I I could literally do it remotely, but my I guess what it comes down to is how long we're at the eye appointment.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Like if we get out, if it's 9 45 and we're wrapped up before 11, uh, these kids are definitely going back to school.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: I am throwing McDonald's down their throat while we're driving to Dippin' in handy, and then you might see me.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Or you might see me online running the computer from afar.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: So this one came in too.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I wish the station would come into my car.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: It will, guys.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: They've ordered the parts.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: We have a transmitter, something rather.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: A whoosie what's it thing, level?
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: There's a whoosie what's he thing that went wrong.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: More technical terms.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Let me just ask this question.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: If you I'm curious from other parents, do you do what I do?
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: You know, you get them back to school, or are you a gale?
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: You're like, no, 9 45, 11 in the morning, you can have the day off.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, you do not get the day off.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I've already messaged both their teachers reminding them uh they'll be in about noon today.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Are you like me or are you uh loosey goosey?
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: We don't need to go back.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Not today.
