- 0:41Speaker 1: winning the gold medal, but playing for Penn State and
- 0:43Speaker 1: for the Montreal Canadians Tals team trade deadline more of
- 0:47Speaker 1: a trade deadline, absolute disappointment. I'm coming back from Vancouver.
- 0:51Speaker 1: JD's on the road right now as well doing some
- 0:53Speaker 1: Sharks games. We'll get to the hockey ins just a second.
- 0:55Speaker 1: But an incredible moment last week, as our producer Cody
- 0:58Speaker 1: mckendrey said to me, Michael Booblaze coming on, So you're kidding,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm a huge boueblez face. You'd realize, Oh my god,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I said, call me a responsible I have the CD.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It's unbelievably. All right, great, well look forward to so
- 1:06Speaker 1: we're also having on Drew Gold. I go what he goes, Yeah,
- 1:09Speaker 1: that's why I was expecting your reaction is going to
- 1:10Speaker 1: be like, who's that? He goes, that's the guy from
- 1:12Speaker 1: Property Brothers. I go, I don't know what that is.
- 1:13Speaker 2: He goes.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I goes, you tell we're getting Boot Blaze Boo Blaze in,
- 1:16Speaker 1: but also Drew Gold. No problem, just make sure boot
- 1:19Speaker 1: Blaze sits next to me. He's like, okay, so it's
- 1:20Speaker 1: me boot Blay, Blake Bolden, whoever this guy is. He's like, yep,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and that's gonna be Chris Pronger. Mike sounds good. Apparently
- 1:25Speaker 1: his brother is a twin brother married to Zoey Deschanel,
- 1:28Speaker 1: like really is like, okay, so Lisa is a Hollywoo
- 1:30Speaker 1: conection because but that's the brother's okay, his sister law
- 1:32Speaker 1: is Zoy Deschanel. Regardless, tal play what happened here? Epic
- 1:35Speaker 1: moment in Vancouver.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Come you do it me then call.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Me I responsible, call me oh, undeniable, join.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And just movable too.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Irresponsibly. Yeah, so there you go, Jady. A rare moment
- 2:00Speaker 1: the Great American songbook. I was not expecting Michael but
- 2:03Speaker 1: Blade to toss to me to get me involved in
- 2:05Speaker 1: the duet. I just thought, a nice moment he gets
- 2:06Speaker 1: serenade Blake Bowlden instead got to have an incredible love
- 2:10Speaker 1: Boo Blay.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Let's go good pipe sonya, really good pipe sonya.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I can only do that octave though.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Like, yeah, you get the you get the you get
- 2:20Speaker 2: the syrank, Yeah, you get the Sinatra crooning Sammy Davis Junior,
- 2:24Speaker 2: Chris exactly.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Have you ever met Bouble by the way, you know
- 2:29Speaker 1: he's a.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Huge No, I I never met him. I never met him.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I saw he was what wasn't the last year he
- 2:35Speaker 2: was talking about being on mushrooms?
- 2:37Speaker 1: Well that was somebody. Our buddy Steve Trenzan, of course,
- 2:39Speaker 1: our bosson NHL Network text me, he goes unbelievable moment
- 2:42Speaker 1: Boo Blay. I'm like, thanks, I said, I'm a little
- 2:43Speaker 1: rattled now to be honest, kind of in the moment
- 2:45Speaker 1: you'll think about it, but after its oh my god.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And then immediately Tron's texted, did you bring up micro dosing?
- 2:50Speaker 1: And I said no. I thought I would avoid that
- 2:52Speaker 1: this time, but if I could have a second time,
- 2:54Speaker 1: maybe that we can get into it.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Once now you're comfortable, you can talk. You guys
- 2:57Speaker 2: can go to an Ayahuaska trip together.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Backstage fast is when he comes to Madison Square guard it'll.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Be was he nice?
- 3:04Speaker 1: It was really nice guy. And the best thing you
- 3:05Speaker 1: know is this and you meet certain celebrities and they go, oh,
- 3:07Speaker 1: he's a big habsuit or a big Leaves fan, and
- 3:09Speaker 1: then you start talking. For thirty seconds ago, this guy
- 3:12Speaker 1: drops Stan smiel I Gona he's a Canucks fan. Like
- 3:14Speaker 1: he is paying attention. He knows he was discussed as
- 3:18Speaker 1: how good he was. He said he was chirping Jeru
- 3:20Speaker 1: because he says on his fantasy team, and like, I
- 3:23Speaker 1: guess the fantasy is so in depted, like they're tracking
- 3:25Speaker 1: face offs. So like the fact he knows Jeru is
- 3:27Speaker 1: one of the best in hockey at face offs and
- 3:29Speaker 1: he's chirping, I'm like, okay, boo Ble is definitely a
- 3:30Speaker 1: legit hockey fan.
- 3:31Speaker 2: They're doing face offs and that's what I say, hockey.
- 3:34Speaker 1: In nantasty face off wins in fantasy. That's next level.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Got people are nerds.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Now, I do want to ask Hi about his place
- 3:41Speaker 1: and looked it up. He has a mansion in Burnaby,
- 3:43Speaker 1: twenty eight million dollars apparently fifteen bathrooms. So the biggest question,
- 3:47Speaker 1: if I had more time, I wanted to say, do
- 3:48Speaker 1: you use a different shitter every week in Burnaby?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Like where's BC?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah? Burnaby, British Columbia, suburb.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Of Victuals hesus twenty eight million in Burnaby?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Like he could have lived anywhere, like Bro, you were
- 3:58Speaker 1: the great Canadian singers of all time, international musician, used
- 4:01Speaker 1: to date Emily Blunt. You could live in Alley's Like no,
- 4:03Speaker 1: I love I'm a Bee. See guy, I'm gonna build
- 4:05Speaker 1: a mansion in Burnaby. I'm like, okay, twenty eight million,
- 4:08Speaker 1: fifteen bathrooms.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Of all the place to build twenty eight million dollars
- 4:12Speaker 2: put to park twenty eight million dollars Burnaby, BC's where
- 4:15Speaker 2: you park twenty eight million? You're never getting that money back.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Well that's actually brings up a better point. So I'm
- 4:20Speaker 1: curious your thoughts on BC because both you and I
- 4:22Speaker 1: are Easterners. I'm an Ontario guy, you're a Quebec guy.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And I found when you're in BC, they really have
- 4:27Speaker 1: a lot of rage towards ease, specifically, Toronto, and I
- 4:30Speaker 1: don't want to insult them, Like, listen, you have a
- 4:32Speaker 1: beautiful city. Vancouver is a gorgeous city, esthetically placing mountains, water,
- 4:36Speaker 1: all that drearing overcast most of the time. I gotta
- 4:39Speaker 1: tell you, there's a reason why I have an inferraority
- 4:41Speaker 1: complex because you're not Toronto and you're not Montreal. So like,
- 4:43Speaker 1: it's a great city, but no one ever says that
- 4:45Speaker 1: you're better than them.
- 4:47Speaker 2: To homeless, tough homeless there now too, you know, isn't
- 4:49Speaker 2: there a drug drug epidemic there too? You know me,
- 4:52Speaker 2: I like to walk around.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So we're at the JW. Maritt, which is where the
- 4:54Speaker 1: sens are staying. So I see day pool in eighty
- 4:56Speaker 1: seven flyers. That's always a conversation. Got to say a
- 4:59Speaker 1: loo to Travis Green. Brady Kachuk's in the hotel with
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Andy Patrell in the elevator, so you see the
- 5:03Speaker 1: autograph people outside, but also just a slew of homeless people.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I wasn't sure if I was in Vancouver
- 5:08Speaker 1: or Seattle or San Francisco.
- 5:10Speaker 2: It's very similar to Seattle.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yeah, very Seattle, very like, Yeah, it's a cool spot,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but I'm just always funny, like it there's a chip
- 5:16Speaker 1: on their shoulder and that fan base. John Forces said
- 5:18Speaker 1: to me, because when they didn't win twenty eleven, like
- 5:20Speaker 1: they're never gonna win. You had Game seven at home
- 5:22Speaker 1: President Trophy on a platter. When they lost, there's riots.
- 5:26Speaker 1: He's like, they're never gonna win. It's a brutal fan base, dude.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They are angry.
- 5:30Speaker 2: They oh they I mean they burned the city down
- 5:33Speaker 2: when they like burn the city down. Yeah, completely, that's
- 5:38Speaker 2: when they had what the kissing Couple seen. It wasn't
- 5:41Speaker 2: that for like a conference final. Wasn't it that? Not
- 5:43Speaker 2: even for the finals? Because they thought it was like
- 5:46Speaker 2: when they won, they burned it down.
- 5:47Speaker 1: When they won, they burned it down. Win or lose,
- 5:50Speaker 1: they're going to burn it down, Like I asked, I
- 5:52Speaker 1: had them foot to me. I thought I was going
- 5:54Speaker 1: with talk. I said, I love talk. He said yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 1: because I thought I was gonna be in a system
- 5:56Speaker 1: with talk. They're like, oh, you're the head coach.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I'm like, oh okay, and then talk fucked him. Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: He was like, okay, I got some running things down
- 6:04Speaker 1: all right, And it's like this is the situation. Elias
- 6:07Speaker 1: Petterson eleven point six million. This guy stinks and Adam
- 6:11Speaker 1: Foot's gonna trot him out week after week. The best
- 6:13Speaker 1: news for them is potentially McKenna, Alino, Patrick Alvin, He's
- 6:16Speaker 1: gonna draft Stenburg. He're like, now, screw it, kevinmka punched
- 6:20Speaker 1: out a guy. I'm gonna go the other guy. I
- 6:21Speaker 1: think Kenna's gonna be a stud. They ride again.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I listen, I think Stenburg might be the best player
- 6:27Speaker 2: in that draft.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Though, see exactly it's getting a little more buzz now.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think it's tough. They're in a tough spot. It's
- 6:33Speaker 2: not like it's a it's the draft of Macklin celebrating
- 6:35Speaker 2: where it's that easy. It's a good points not clear cut.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Before we move on, I want your thoughts on Vancouver,
- 6:41Speaker 1: great city, inferiority complex.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I love Vancouver and my wife is you know, we
- 6:46Speaker 3: live in the United States. Obviously, my wife has told
- 6:49Speaker 3: me if we do, for whatever reason, have to make
- 6:51Speaker 3: a run to the border, the northern border, he can
- 6:53Speaker 3: go to Vancouver's.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Hey, making a run to the border.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That's the one city she will accept living in Canada.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Why are you making you got the nukes? You're not
- 7:01Speaker 2: you don't need to make a run of the border.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Well we want, we don't need to get into that anyways.
- 7:05Speaker 3: My point was, I know the city's wonderful and the
- 7:08Speaker 3: people would have Well, it's the fan base. I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 3: they've lost in the Cup final three times. You know,
- 7:13Speaker 3: a couple of them were Game seven.
- 7:15Speaker 2: It's rough.
- 7:15Speaker 3: They've had a rough go and they were this was
- 7:17Speaker 3: a legit. Look, they took the Oilers to to game
- 7:21Speaker 3: seven what two years ago, and now they're arguably the
- 7:24Speaker 3: worst team in the league.
- 7:25Speaker 2: That's rough.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I feel for them a little bit, a little.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Bit, yeah, I mean Alvin Rutherford drove that team to
- 7:32Speaker 2: the ground.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yea, it should be Ruther for disaster. Mean the stars
- 7:35Speaker 1: falling off that the old boys Club exactly used to
- 7:38Speaker 1: be viewed a certain way now differently, But that's right,
- 7:40Speaker 1: great city, great people, the fan base hostile and angry
- 7:43Speaker 1: perhaps are good reason. You look at their team from
- 7:45Speaker 1: two years ago when they made the playoffs. One defenseman
- 7:47Speaker 1: remains Philip Ronick. I mean it is massive turnover on
- 7:51Speaker 1: defensive threat.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, they couldn't have mishandled this past couple of years worse.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Oh and good luck. Trade Number forty are dealing with
- 7:57Speaker 1: that kind I think got five more years at that
- 7:59Speaker 1: cap number. That's nuts, all right, deadline delirium. JD all
- 8:02Speaker 1: over it, as was everybody involved in the world the NHL,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and most of it was an NHL deadline. He kept
- 8:08Speaker 1: waiting for big moves to come. Frank Sarah Valley. We
- 8:10Speaker 1: thought it was gonna be in studios, like I'll just
- 8:11Speaker 1: go to Philly. He's on zoom E j Raddick's dominating
- 8:14Speaker 1: in studio and we're waiting for moves, waiting for big
- 8:16Speaker 1: trades to come. There were moves made. When we'll get
- 8:18Speaker 1: to the inaction just a second, But first JD, Colorado, Dallas,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and Minnesota all got bigger and nasture. Minnesota gets six
- 8:25Speaker 1: to six Michael mcchaeron Jeff Petree love Bobby Brake from
- 8:29Speaker 1: the Flyers, he scores. Blackhawks captain Nick Felino now gets
- 8:32Speaker 1: to play alongside his brother Marcus, rather jarring seeing those
- 8:35Speaker 1: two together. Dallas gets six foot eight Tyler Myers and
- 8:38Speaker 1: Scrappy for Michael Bunting, and then Colorado getting six for
- 8:42Speaker 1: Nicholas Waugh, shocking in the league with the announcement. Several
- 8:45Speaker 1: minutes after the deadlines, So it's my favorite part. Happens
- 8:47Speaker 1: in baseball deadlines at four at four to ten, guess
- 8:50Speaker 1: what Zach Cranky got traded. The deal comes after the
- 8:52Speaker 1: deadlines officially passed. Nazen Cadre is now member of the
- 8:56Speaker 1: Colorado Avalanche, which moved to you the most impactful. NAS
- 8:59Speaker 1: is a great move for me. He's back in Colorado.
- 9:01Speaker 1: He's the kind of guy gets energized by that environment.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You see me get him fired up, seeing him on
- 9:05Speaker 1: the ice? Which one for you? You know what? I
- 9:07Speaker 1: like it a lot?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Oof best trade of those three are the not just.
- 9:13Speaker 1: In general, film says to you, Hey, which team got
- 9:15Speaker 1: de watchably better?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah? Where I was like, okay, this team, I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 2: it's so hard because you know, we're with this sprint,
- 9:23Speaker 2: we're gonna see kind of we're really gonna know come
- 9:27Speaker 2: playoff time what actually happens. And there's a lot of
- 9:29Speaker 2: teams pushing with some I mean. The cool thing about
- 9:34Speaker 2: McFarlane and Colorado is they go and make that trade
- 9:37Speaker 2: for Walk because apparently he said he he wasn't sure
- 9:41Speaker 2: they were going to get NAS. So they're like, okay,
- 9:43Speaker 2: we need to get something, and just shows you how
- 9:45Speaker 2: good of a GM is goes to get wa they
- 9:47Speaker 2: get Nikahua and immediately I'm like, I think I went
- 9:51Speaker 2: on ter it was like, this is a great pickup.
- 9:53Speaker 2: He was one of the guys I had circled as
- 9:55Speaker 2: he hadn't quite performed greatly in Toronto, but I thought
- 10:00Speaker 2: he was an amazing depth center for the league. Like
- 10:03Speaker 2: and I was like, if some team gets him, it's
- 10:05Speaker 2: going to just improve their depth. I was looking at
- 10:06Speaker 2: Utah's going a couple other teams to make a splash there,
- 10:10Speaker 2: and they get him. And then apparently they found out
- 10:13Speaker 2: later in the day, like to your point, close to
- 10:16Speaker 2: the end of the deadline that nas was still available,
- 10:18Speaker 2: they took another run at them, So now they get
- 10:20Speaker 2: two centers. So it just goes to show you, like
- 10:23Speaker 2: the winners of the deadline are these Listen, not all
- 10:26Speaker 2: gms are created equal that those three teams right now are.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's sad and we keep going back to the playoff
- 10:34Speaker 2: format that two of these teams will be out after
- 10:38Speaker 2: round two because this one of those you know, I
- 10:42Speaker 2: would rather seen a conference final matchup for one of
- 10:45Speaker 2: these two teams, but now it's they're going to kick
- 10:48Speaker 2: the shit out of each other's for the two rounds,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and then Edmonton's probably gonna sneak their way to the
- 10:52Speaker 2: finals again because they're just going to have an absolute easy,
- 10:56Speaker 2: easy time coming through here. But I would say Colorado
- 11:00Speaker 2: once again reigns supreme. Just loved the trade. And then
- 11:06Speaker 2: I would give a I would give my flowers as.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Like a bonus prize run around.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I would give my flowers as like an honorable mention.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I mean, you can't give anything to Montreal. They were
- 11:19Speaker 2: pooh pooh. Are we going to bury them? In a second,
- 11:23Speaker 2: you want to bury them winters? Okay, winners. Uh, I
- 11:28Speaker 2: mean we'll keep it out West. I mean, listen, I like,
- 11:30Speaker 2: I wish it would have done more. But I liked
- 11:32Speaker 2: what Utah did taking a swing at McKenzie Wager. I
- 11:35Speaker 2: think it's the first time we've seen them use some
- 11:37Speaker 2: of their draft capital to get somebody, and I think
- 11:41Speaker 2: McKenzie Wiger is a definite upgrade on the back end
- 11:43Speaker 2: for them. I think they needed to find a righty
- 11:46Speaker 2: and they found Wager, so he uh his second game.
- 11:49Speaker 2: They lost this last game against Minnesota, but Minnesota is
- 11:52Speaker 2: a different animal. But yeah, I think at the center position,
- 11:55Speaker 2: they still need to do something, But I think that
- 11:57Speaker 2: was a great move by them and Bill Armstrong putting
- 12:00Speaker 2: together a kind of team that you know has an
- 12:03Speaker 2: opportunity here. It's got an opportunity, got an opportunity.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a chance. You touched on the one
- 12:09Speaker 1: I like as well. Utah adding Mackenzie Leaguer, a great guy.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Was playing for a flame steam which is going nowhere.
- 12:13Speaker 1: His numbers down a little bit, but great leader is
- 12:15Speaker 1: still a good defenseman. Again. You have to think he'll
- 12:17Speaker 1: be energized being on the Utah team right now. That
- 12:20Speaker 1: is the top wild card expecting to be a playoff team.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Maybe they can pull off an upstite against the specific winner.
- 12:24Speaker 1: The Pacific Division so weak anyways, you go, maybe Utah
- 12:26Speaker 1: is the favorite. Detroit also gets Justin fulk Alders got
- 12:30Speaker 1: Braydon Detroit was good. Yeah, Columbus getting Connor Garland, Buffalo
- 12:34Speaker 1: adding Logan Stanley.
- 12:36Speaker 2: That was my sim Carrick, that was my East. We
- 12:39Speaker 2: just watched them play against San Jose last night. This
- 12:42Speaker 2: is a fucking hockey team.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You're loving the Sabers.
- 12:45Speaker 2: You're got Oh my god, look their back end right now.
- 12:49Speaker 2: HM with Dollien power Byron's you know, still six to one.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I think six six to one, but kessel Ring and
- 12:57Speaker 2: Logan Stanley, it's enormous on the back end, and they
- 13:01Speaker 2: moved the puck so well. Everybody from the Sharks last
- 13:05Speaker 2: night was like they were so good. Like this is like,
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, Warsavski came out and said he puts Buffalo
- 13:13Speaker 2: in the same vein as Tampa Vay and Colorado, which
- 13:16Speaker 2: is amazing. Chippewa Street buzzing right now. The fans are drunk,
- 13:19Speaker 2: they're eating wings, They're fucking, they're eating, They're winning. This
- 13:26Speaker 2: is a team, and this is the city key Bank
- 13:29Speaker 2: Key Bump Center, but the key Bank Center.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But this brings us to something interesting, the fact that
- 13:33Speaker 1: Buffalo got ghosted by Colton Perreco like he's got a
- 13:37Speaker 1: long term contract affordal money's you know, I'd rather stay
- 13:40Speaker 1: in Saint Louis a bad team rather than go to Buffalo.
- 13:43Speaker 1: What do you think of that move?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Well, it kind of goes to the who leaked it
- 13:48Speaker 2: and who made it uncomfortable for him, because you know,
- 13:51Speaker 2: that's the one thing I hate right now is like
- 13:53Speaker 2: you know, I love listen. The insiders have their role
- 13:57Speaker 2: and I think they're great at what they do, but
- 13:59Speaker 2: the leaking of the fucking like just it's okay, Like,
- 14:03Speaker 2: I understand you want to be first. Yeah, and I
- 14:06Speaker 2: understand that things happen, and I get it, and it's
- 14:08Speaker 2: part of the game and that's how you make your
- 14:09Speaker 2: money's being an insider. Completely get it. But it takes
- 14:13Speaker 2: away like so much sometimes, Like it's just it's nice
- 14:17Speaker 2: to know that, Like when it's coming across, you're like, hey,
- 14:19Speaker 2: here in this trade might be done. It's like now
- 14:21Speaker 2: it's like six hours before they announce it. They're like,
- 14:24Speaker 2: here's the trade, here's the details. It's like, okay, well,
- 14:27Speaker 2: we don't need to wait till it's announced. I'm like,
- 14:29Speaker 2: why don't you guys just be the announcers. We should
- 14:31Speaker 2: just have them announce all the trades and you know,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just don't leave the teams out of it completely.
- 14:37Speaker 1: It does complicate things and make it kind of frustrating.
- 14:39Speaker 1: How about Washington turning plenty of heeads. They trade John
- 14:42Speaker 1: Carlston Anaheim two draft picks, including a conditional first. The
- 14:45Speaker 1: trades announced at one twelve am Eastern I, meaning Caps
- 14:49Speaker 1: fans get that surprise in the morning. Carlson didn't even
- 14:51Speaker 1: know but the trade till he woke up the next morning.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Nick Daud also traded the Vegas, meaning oh, Vechkin and
- 14:56Speaker 1: Tom Wilson are the loan remaining players from Washington's twenty
- 14:59Speaker 1: eighteen Stanley cup Roun. That was not that long ago.
- 15:02Speaker 1: The Caps are done. Ovechkin's done. This is it. We
- 15:05Speaker 1: got one more month to Alexandrovechkin playing in the NHL and
- 15:07Speaker 1: the Caps are going nowhere. What an ending?
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you know he was. I'm a little surprised by
- 15:12Speaker 2: that one, because you know, they had come out and
- 15:16Speaker 2: said until Ovi's gone, they're going to be competitive. I mean,
- 15:19Speaker 2: they do have Hudson's brother coming, Cole Hudson's coming down
- 15:23Speaker 2: the pipeline on the back end, so that could be
- 15:25Speaker 2: the reason why they moved Carlson. And they just saw
- 15:28Speaker 2: the writing on the wall. They took. They took the
- 15:30Speaker 2: price tag I mean that they were going to get.
- 15:33Speaker 2: But yeah, to do it that way is a little dirty.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They did him dirty. They did Johnny Carlson dirty. At
- 15:38Speaker 2: least they let him sleep. What a fucking way to
- 15:43Speaker 2: wake up. Hey, hey fella, you're going to Anaheim. See
- 15:47Speaker 2: you later. Get on, get on the bird. You're going
- 15:49Speaker 2: all the way to the West coast. Now he's going
- 15:51Speaker 2: to a hell of a hockey team. And I think
- 15:54Speaker 2: this team, for me is is is very much. You know.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I have high hopes for them going through the playoffs.
- 16:02Speaker 2: This could be a sneaky dark course, especially with Quennville
- 16:05Speaker 2: back there. They're such a good hockey team and fun
- 16:08Speaker 2: to watch. But yeah, I think I think Washington must
- 16:11Speaker 2: have thought. They probably just like, listen, we're not gonna win.
- 16:15Speaker 2: We might make it in squeak In, but I don't
- 16:18Speaker 2: think we're We've been consistent enough to win, so we're gonna,
- 16:22Speaker 2: you know, get what we can now instead of waiting
- 16:24Speaker 2: another year. And you know, getting rid of Nick Doubt
- 16:27Speaker 2: also is a good depth piece for them. But I
- 16:30Speaker 2: I didn't love it. I didn't love why they did it.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I just thought you could have maybe done this in
- 16:35Speaker 2: the off season. But you know, sometimes just taking those
- 16:39Speaker 2: those pieces. But man, the guys looked devastated when they
- 16:45Speaker 2: kind of interviewed the next day, like Tom Wilson and
- 16:47Speaker 2: those guys, they were like, uh, we're gonna take today
- 16:50Speaker 2: to cry and mourn, like we just lost a dear friend.
- 16:53Speaker 2: In which they did, and but they're like, we got
- 16:55Speaker 2: to kind of, you know, get over it. But listen,
- 16:57Speaker 2: it's it's it's a tough business. And that's the side
- 17:01Speaker 2: that you know, we sometimes forget. We see the trade deadline,
- 17:03Speaker 2: it's such a funny thing, but it's guys uprooting their
- 17:06Speaker 2: lives and moving across country and you know, guys that
- 17:08Speaker 2: have kids and guys that have families, and and that's
- 17:11Speaker 2: a if anybody, I don't care what anybody says, that
- 17:14Speaker 2: is fucking tough getting traded out of the blue. Like
- 17:17Speaker 2: they're like, you have one day to pack your shit
- 17:20Speaker 2: and then you're gone and you're leaving, and of course
- 17:22Speaker 2: you got people to help you. But it's like you
- 17:24Speaker 2: gotta go get ready. You gotta go to the rink
- 17:26Speaker 2: that that day you're landed, you might have to play
- 17:28Speaker 2: a hockey game. You gotta go meet a whole new
- 17:30Speaker 2: sit of guys, you gotta learn a new system. So
- 17:32Speaker 2: it can be it can be tough at times, all right, So.
- 17:35Speaker 1: We're gonna have deadline winners. Were gonna have some deadline
- 17:37Speaker 1: losers as well. Carolina and Montreal did nothing. The Rangers
- 17:40Speaker 1: fail to unload Vincent Trocheck Rangers are going, no, We're
- 17:43Speaker 1: just trade them jury, Buffalo got ghost to at Paraka.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mentioned that Edmondson only getting Connor Murphy. Boston did nothing.
- 17:50Speaker 2: You got Dickinson too.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Fine, No, nothing major Dickinson, I mean a center. What's
- 17:55Speaker 1: he gonna do? Bottom line is this the Montreal Canadians
- 18:00Speaker 1: talas team didn't make any significant moves, and in the
- 18:04Speaker 1: media after the deadline, Ken Houston the Canadiens came very
- 18:07Speaker 1: close to acquiring a significant addition and the team might
- 18:11Speaker 1: continue pursuing the trade this summer. Any ideas who that
- 18:14Speaker 1: person is.
- 18:17Speaker 2: For me? Yeah, of who they're going to pursue in
- 18:20Speaker 2: the summer.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Who would it be that he would just throw it
- 18:22Speaker 1: out there like that, A mystery player. So you gotta
- 18:24Speaker 1: think some of an expiring contract, perhaps Matthew Nyes. So
- 18:29Speaker 1: it was Montreal Toronto allegedly was the trade.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Allegedly was Toronto Austin Matthews.
- 18:35Speaker 1: No, it's not Austin Matthews Collen Okay, No, icet In
- 18:41Speaker 1: Kindling is anywhere that Toronto wants to invest in him.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I think it Ken Hus has covered his ass because
- 18:45Speaker 1: they did nothing. That's actually what happened well, I think
- 18:48Speaker 1: apparently they say, oh JD, I say, I came so close.
- 18:51Speaker 1: What happened now?
- 18:51Speaker 2: I think he put the trade in late. I think
- 18:53Speaker 2: apparently he put it in late because there is a cutoff.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Time that's even worse than he had.
- 18:58Speaker 2: He was at the bar, having a couple of cocktails,
- 19:00Speaker 2: having a couple of pull the Groni spagliados. Forgot forgot that.
- 19:05Speaker 2: He said, fuck, I gotta put this trade in.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Shit, you're telling me it's inept. That's how the straight
- 19:11Speaker 1: didn't get happen.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're there. It could be. I mean, he
- 19:15Speaker 2: hasn't missed much, but you know he was at shape
- 19:18Speaker 2: Pere at the strip club or something. I like, what
- 19:21Speaker 2: to the peelers he hasn't missed. He hasn't missed much, though.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Tell you're gonna be disappointed. You're mutual all Canadians fan.
- 19:27Speaker 1: This feels like a fairly wide open Eastern conference. We
- 19:29Speaker 1: discussed this last week on the Pod Mejidi and NATESA
- 19:32Speaker 1: Aside from the Lightning and maybe Carolina, the East is
- 19:35Speaker 1: up there. The Sabers could make a deep run. The
- 19:37Speaker 1: Habs can make a deep instead, Habs could be out
- 19:39Speaker 1: first round oilers could be out first round. No Canadian
- 19:42Speaker 1: teams may first.
- 19:43Speaker 4: What do you.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Got, I'm I'm actually okay with this?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Nice? Oh he is.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you why because and Ken Hughes has
- 19:51Speaker 3: said this since the season started, and he is stuck
- 19:55Speaker 3: to his guns on this. For the Canadians, it's not
- 19:57Speaker 3: about this season, it's about next season. He is sticking
- 20:02Speaker 3: to the timeline. He refuses to throw off the timeline
- 20:06Speaker 3: of this team for a quick fix, and they are
- 20:10Speaker 3: going to shed roughly twenty million dollars in cap space
- 20:13Speaker 3: in the summer of twenty twenty seven too. So I
- 20:16Speaker 3: think he's he's thinking a few steps ahead, and that
- 20:18Speaker 3: means he doesn't want to, I guess, mess up the timeline,
- 20:22Speaker 3: messing things up for the future to make a potential
- 20:26Speaker 3: run this season. Or he might just be said, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 3: he might just be covering his ass because he got
- 20:30Speaker 3: an absolutely nothing done.
- 20:31Speaker 2: At the deadline.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it's that one. I think that's the
- 20:34Speaker 1: better option. I like the fact you guys are going
- 20:37Speaker 1: positive and going well. I think he's got a long
- 20:39Speaker 1: trim plan just want to commit to his way. No,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I think he's just covering his ass. I'm fine with
- 20:42Speaker 1: it other way, but good forget you.
- 20:44Speaker 2: He's covering it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I just want one more thoughts to a tro Check
- 20:49Speaker 1: because you've been you Bury Dreary before. You're very critical
- 20:52Speaker 1: of him. Put Aaron trade? How do you not trade
- 20:54Speaker 1: tro Check? I want your thoughts on that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Well, all you need is one guy to like you,
- 20:57Speaker 2: and then you can stay as a GM the head
- 21:00Speaker 2: of a team for a while. That's all you need.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Just one all takes his one. All you need is
- 21:06Speaker 2: the owner to love you. Ah listen, I you know
- 21:09Speaker 2: they move the guys they had to move. In my
- 21:12Speaker 2: uber critical of him on this, I mean somewhat, but
- 21:16Speaker 2: you know, I you talk about you, you talk a
- 21:20Speaker 2: big game about Trocheck's gone, and everybody wants him. And
- 21:24Speaker 2: I guess he wanted a king's ransom for tro Check
- 21:27Speaker 2: and it just never materialized because you know, Trochick's a
- 21:31Speaker 2: good player, and I think was well documented that he
- 21:35Speaker 2: was wanted around the league. But I think for the
- 21:36Speaker 2: price tag that they want, which is like a prospect
- 21:38Speaker 2: and a first round pick, and I mean that's a big,
- 21:41Speaker 2: big tag for that's a guy. You're giving that to
- 21:43Speaker 2: a guy that's like going to score thirty points in
- 21:46Speaker 2: the last eighteen games or something like that. Like, I
- 21:49Speaker 2: don't think Troch is going to do that. He's a
- 21:50Speaker 2: great player, he's a great fit. But I think they
- 21:53Speaker 2: just I think he's trying to make up for the
- 21:55Speaker 2: misses and trying to swing big, and sometimes when you
- 21:59Speaker 2: do that instead of taking what's available, then you're not
- 22:01Speaker 2: able to trade anybody. So we'll see if he's he
- 22:03Speaker 2: can do it. I'm sure he'll be able to move
- 22:05Speaker 2: them at the UH, at the at the draft or
- 22:09Speaker 2: something like that. But it's pretty funny that, like Troach,
- 22:12Speaker 2: you're holding them out of the lineup, you're not playing them,
- 22:14Speaker 2: and then you don't even move them. Nothing happens. So no,
- 22:17Speaker 2: it's been a it's been a barrage of shit for
- 22:21Speaker 2: the New York Rangers and their fan base. But Lafernier's
- 22:25Speaker 2: scoring right now. He's kind of figured it out the
- 22:28Speaker 2: last few games because advantage at Gabe Pereles looks decent.
- 22:31Speaker 2: So they've come out of the break and you know,
- 22:33Speaker 2: they've been playing some good hockey. They're playing with no
- 22:36Speaker 2: fear and no golts hammered.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They hammer of the Flyers of the Day six to two.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And we're gonna have the Rangers on Prime coming up
- 22:44Speaker 1: on the twenty third, so look forward to seeing nice.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I loved that.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Auto centers Travis Green taking on the Rangers a
- 22:49Speaker 1: little home game for me, so that'll be good news
- 22:50Speaker 1: to look forward to that coming up next here an
- 22:52Speaker 1: NHL inscripted Tessa Janicky. That's right, Champ is here, gold
- 22:57Speaker 1: medal winner from the US women's Olympic teams. She'll tell us,
- 22:59Speaker 1: but our Olympic experience, some pranks that are playing, plus
- 23:02Speaker 1: the Gavin McKennitt effect at Penn State, all that more
- 23:05Speaker 1: coming up after this on NHL in scripted. The champ
- 23:23Speaker 1: is here, our next guest, a senior captain of Penn
- 23:25Speaker 1: State University, where she's the all time leading scorer in
- 23:28Speaker 1: their women's hockey program for the third straight season. She
- 23:31Speaker 1: is a top ten foleance for the Patty Cosmi Memorial
- 23:34Speaker 1: Award for the top female college hockey player in the
- 23:37Speaker 1: United States. And oh, by the way, an Olympic gold
- 23:39Speaker 1: medal in Milan. As a member of the US women's team,
- 23:43Speaker 1: that hardware should look pretty good next to her two
- 23:45Speaker 1: World championships. It's the pride of Orangeville Illinois Tessa Janicky Tessa,
- 23:50Speaker 1: thank you so much for the time for NHL in
- 23:51Speaker 1: scripted and congrats. How you feeling.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I'm doing good, Thank you guys for having me. I'm
- 23:57Speaker 4: just excited to keep going.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure you're still riding the way, but I mean,
- 24:02Speaker 1: just break down the emotions and what was going through
- 24:05Speaker 1: your mind when Megan Keller scored that unbelievable golden goal.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Oh gosh, I feel like getting asked this question, You're
- 24:12Speaker 4: just like, there's really no good answer because like there's
- 24:15Speaker 4: not really anything going on when you're headed that moment.
- 24:18Speaker 4: But I remember, like me and Heize like weren't actually
- 24:22Speaker 4: off the ice yet and we were just watching like
- 24:24Speaker 4: from the bench, like while we were supposed to change,
- 24:26Speaker 4: and then so saw our celebrating.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I think everyone kind of just blacked out after that.
- 24:31Speaker 2: So there's too many men on the ice too. They
- 24:35Speaker 2: got to call that penalty.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Uh, nope, nope, No, I actually thought about that though.
- 24:40Speaker 4: I was like, oh, but I think it wasn't like
- 24:43Speaker 4: obviously affecting the play.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I tested to talk about you know that game,
- 24:50Speaker 2: which you know, you guys did roll through the tournament
- 24:52Speaker 2: fairly easy, and you get to Canada and you too,
- 24:55Speaker 2: you handled them in the preliminary rounds and they came
- 24:59Speaker 2: out flying. Like was there what was said in between
- 25:01Speaker 2: the second and the third period, because it just seemed
- 25:03Speaker 2: like it's took you guys to the third period to
- 25:05Speaker 2: get to your game a little bit.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I think it was just like I think we were
- 25:10Speaker 4: pretty confident as a group that like, once we got one,
- 25:13Speaker 4: I think it was gonna it was going to go
- 25:15Speaker 4: in our favor. So I think it was just kind
- 25:17Speaker 4: of keep doing the same things, playing the right way,
- 25:20Speaker 4: and like kudos to them, but like they played an
- 25:23Speaker 4: amazing game, Like they gave us like probably one of
- 25:26Speaker 4: their best games, and we knew that like going into it,
- 25:28Speaker 4: it's not going to be a five to nothing game,
- 25:31Speaker 4: like it's a gold medal game. They've all been, most
- 25:34Speaker 4: of them had been in that moment before, and yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 4: I mean they just gave us our best game and
- 25:39Speaker 4: we we we were confident.
- 25:41Speaker 5: As a group that we were going to get one.
- 25:43Speaker 4: So a lot of steady talk kind of just keeping
- 25:47Speaker 4: people's like emotions down and at a good level.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's remarkable test how for so many years
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's been Canada, USA and he used to always be
- 25:55Speaker 1: Canada the Capital c and the USA underscore. Now it
- 25:58Speaker 1: is the American I mean eight straight wins over Canada.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I mean how energizing has that been?
- 26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's always like, that's that's the goal,
- 26:08Speaker 4: Like every time we play them, it's it doesn't matter
- 26:10Speaker 4: like what's happened in the past. We kind of just
- 26:11Speaker 4: gotta keep moving forward, like every time we play them.
- 26:15Speaker 4: So obviously it's good to see just for women's hockey,
- 26:19Speaker 4: like in general, just to see the game growing and
- 26:22Speaker 4: to have been on that the most like skilled team
- 26:25Speaker 4: like ever created was pretty cool. So yeah, I mean
- 26:30Speaker 4: it's kind of same mindset every time we play them.
- 26:32Speaker 4: We know they're gonna give us their best and and
- 26:34Speaker 4: that's all we can ask for too.
- 26:37Speaker 2: There was also a little bit of love happening at
- 26:40Speaker 2: the Olympics with Hillary Knight. You know, she cements herself
- 26:43Speaker 2: as one of the greatest women's players of all time
- 26:45Speaker 2: and in Milan, but then she also gets engaged like
- 26:48Speaker 2: did you guys know that was coming and and did
- 26:51Speaker 2: you help it all in the in the in the
- 26:53Speaker 2: you know, in the engagement.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Uh No.
- 26:56Speaker 4: I think maybe some of the older girls, like obviously knew,
- 27:01Speaker 4: but this funny story, like we were actually at breakfast
- 27:04Speaker 4: the morning like she did it, and like usually we
- 27:07Speaker 4: had a group that kind of like walked and got
- 27:08Speaker 4: coffee and so I like, I like tapptill and I
- 27:11Speaker 4: was like, oh, you want to come get cough me
- 27:14Speaker 4: with me and bills, and she's like so like locked
- 27:17Speaker 4: in like on her breakfast and she was like no,
- 27:20Speaker 4: like I have a side quest and like didn't like
- 27:22Speaker 4: say anything else. Yeah, well yeah, She's like I got
- 27:25Speaker 4: a side quest, like I can't come today. I'm like, oh,
- 27:28Speaker 4: like okay, like and then obviously, like I thought it
- 27:30Speaker 4: was just like, oh, she's getting treatment because like it's
- 27:33Speaker 4: come out now, like she had like a torn MCL.
- 27:35Speaker 4: So I was like, Oh, she's just getting treatment. And
- 27:37Speaker 4: then we get to the rink later that day and
- 27:40Speaker 4: like one of our other teammates like came up to
- 27:42Speaker 4: her and I was like, oh, like I saw the
- 27:43Speaker 4: ring like on on BRIT's finger, and we're all just
- 27:46Speaker 4: like like what Like that was a side quest that
- 27:50Speaker 4: she didn't tell us about, but obviously we're so happy
- 27:53Speaker 4: for her and like celebrated her that day at practice.
- 27:56Speaker 2: So I wish she was I wish she was confident
- 28:00Speaker 2: enough to say we're gonna win and I'm gonna do it.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no the ice, Yeah, that would have been epic.
- 28:06Speaker 5: That would have been That'd have been pretty cool.
- 28:08Speaker 1: A great mix of vets and college players in Milana
- 28:11Speaker 1: had tests. Obviously Hillary's in the way, but what was
- 28:13Speaker 1: that dynamic like with yourself, Abby Murphy, Carolyn Harvey, Layla Edwards,
- 28:17Speaker 1: A good mix of veterans and then younger players as well.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Uh yeah, Like at this point, I feel like it's
- 28:23Speaker 4: just like one big group just because we've been together
- 28:27Speaker 4: like so long, like over these past I guess four
- 28:30Speaker 4: years now, Like I honestly think like we hang out
- 28:33Speaker 4: with the older girls like just as much.
- 28:36Speaker 5: It's a lot of fun.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Like as soon as we came in, like they didn't
- 28:40Speaker 4: treat us any differently, like they trusted in us that
- 28:43Speaker 4: like we were chosen on that team for a reason
- 28:45Speaker 4: and they just only supported us and everything.
- 28:47Speaker 5: So it makes that like transition a lot smoother.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And it's just fun to hang out with all of
- 28:53Speaker 4: them because they have some great stories, so I always
- 28:57Speaker 4: like love to hear some of those.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So any any pranks throughs on the team, I feel
- 29:04Speaker 2: like me and Bilks, you all, what's the best prank
- 29:08Speaker 2: you've you've pulled off.
- 29:09Speaker 4: There was one time, I think it was our September
- 29:13Speaker 4: camp that we were trying out for and just like
- 29:17Speaker 4: put like a name on Hillary's helmet and she didn't
- 29:20Speaker 4: like know the whole practice, but I don't know if
- 29:22Speaker 4: she was I don't know if she was like in
- 29:24Speaker 4: the mood that day, So the prank didn't go well
- 29:26Speaker 4: and got kind of scared.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But that's the best prank those on the person. Yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 2: pissed off, but everybody else is laughing. Yeah, that's the best.
- 29:35Speaker 5: No, it was. It was still good.
- 29:36Speaker 4: But and then at the Olympics we got like these
- 29:40Speaker 4: like cargo pants that like unzipped into shorts. So when
- 29:47Speaker 4: Keller and Panic were in the shower, like me and
- 29:50Speaker 4: Bilks unzipped like their cargo pants and just like hit them.
- 29:54Speaker 4: So like when they came out, they had put in
- 29:56Speaker 4: like long like cargo shorts essentially and walked to the bus.
- 29:58Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, but that was that's all we kind
- 30:05Speaker 4: of did. But like we usually are the ones like
- 30:07Speaker 4: doing stuff like that.
- 30:09Speaker 1: But yeah, that's great stories. I love the fact you
- 30:12Speaker 1: guys are keeping it lighthearted. Yeah, people appreciate, you know,
- 30:16Speaker 1: just how physical the women's game is now. Was there
- 30:18Speaker 1: a specific like nasty collision that you could think about
- 30:21Speaker 1: from the Olympics. You're like, man, people don't realize how
- 30:23Speaker 1: tough this game has become.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like there were kind of a lot
- 30:29Speaker 5: this year. Maybe, Like.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I think Kendall got hit and it was pretty bad.
- 30:39Speaker 4: I don't know, it was like a few It was
- 30:40Speaker 4: like kind of dirty, but it was a few feet
- 30:42Speaker 4: from the boards. But I just think like the first
- 30:46Speaker 4: like game against check Yo was pretty physical for us, Yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 4: the most physical, and I think against Italy like it
- 30:53Speaker 4: was more so like you better really keep your head
- 30:55Speaker 4: up just to be safe. But I would think the
- 30:58Speaker 4: check game was more like back and forth physical, which
- 31:00Speaker 4: is like fun, Like I enjoy playing, Like I think
- 31:05Speaker 4: that's part of my game too.
- 31:06Speaker 5: So I enjoyed some of it.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Like obviously you have to be be safe, like with
- 31:10Speaker 4: the head contact and stuff, but it was good to
- 31:12Speaker 4: see that, like it was kind of transferring over from
- 31:15Speaker 4: the p ub, so it was I thought it was
- 31:19Speaker 4: good and I enjoyed it.
- 31:20Speaker 2: So yeah, you know, my last question about the Olympics,
- 31:24Speaker 2: it's just about your coach, Rubleski. I mean I saw
- 31:27Speaker 2: I was at the game and covered it with the
- 31:30Speaker 2: NHL network in the NHL and I got to watch
- 31:32Speaker 2: that goal and just soak. I'm Canadian, but I got
- 31:35Speaker 2: to soak in the moment and they had a moment
- 31:37Speaker 2: of your coach and the JumboTron teering up. And I
- 31:39Speaker 2: had heard afterwards he's this very kind of serious, gruff
- 31:44Speaker 2: guy and a lot of the girls were like he
- 31:46Speaker 2: was crying, Like what, Like I didn't think he I
- 31:48Speaker 2: didn't think he had a soul let alone be crying.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Like talk about just you know, seeing the emotion and
- 31:54Speaker 2: what it meant to you all to kind of, you know,
- 31:57Speaker 2: have him as your coach. I just you know, just
- 32:00Speaker 2: an amazing coach and amazing story.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I feel like, yeah, he is like a
- 32:06Speaker 4: very serious guy. But like there's also like times like
- 32:09Speaker 4: it kind of depends like when you catch him, like
- 32:12Speaker 4: what he's what he's gonna be in. But I think
- 32:15Speaker 4: just in general, he's like a pretty emotional guy, whether
- 32:18Speaker 4: that's like serious or not, or laughing and that sort
- 32:21Speaker 4: of thing. But obviously like the fact that he cares
- 32:24Speaker 4: that much about us and about our team, like that
- 32:27Speaker 4: was cool to see, like he'd always got these these
- 32:30Speaker 4: crazy pregame speeches or like speeches during video, so it's
- 32:34Speaker 4: it's cool to see like like obviously that emotion as well.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But he also like is one of the most like
- 32:39Speaker 4: knowledgeable like hockey coaches, Like I've had, like the constant
- 32:44Speaker 4: video he has was insane, like the amount that he
- 32:48Speaker 4: just like finds like NHL clips peed ub college, it
- 32:51Speaker 4: doesn't matter like he watches it. Also, Yeah, it was
- 32:55Speaker 4: definitely like cool to like see that emotion from him,
- 32:58Speaker 4: and he he does tell us a lot that he
- 33:00Speaker 4: he loves us, so.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so guy.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Is he like quotes or you see his crazy speeches,
- 33:08Speaker 2: Like what's his crazy speeches like flipping garbage cans and
- 33:10Speaker 2: stuff for.
- 33:13Speaker 5: He's like, I feel like it's a lot of like metaphors.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Or like give me a good one.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Well, like the one that he was telling us about
- 33:23Speaker 4: at at the Olympics was like we've climbed like Everest,
- 33:27Speaker 4: And then he would be like, what's the hardest part
- 33:29Speaker 4: of of Everest?
- 33:31Speaker 2: Is it?
- 33:31Speaker 5: Like do more people die on the way up or
- 33:33Speaker 5: like on the way down?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Yeah, And he's like on the way down, So he's
- 33:37Speaker 4: like you guys have already at the top, and like
- 33:39Speaker 4: this is.
- 33:39Speaker 5: The hardest part.
- 33:41Speaker 4: It's like on the way down, so like it's like
- 33:43Speaker 4: stuff like that. So he's like, yeah, it's I don't know, it's.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Kind of all that's a good one. It's yeah, it
- 33:50Speaker 5: kind of made sense.
- 33:50Speaker 2: So you're like, I think, so yeah.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know he's he's a good guy.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Obviously Olympics with special tests. But you're expecting to be
- 34:00Speaker 1: one of the top picks in the upcoming PWHL draft,
- 34:03Speaker 1: you give it any thought to what that moment's going
- 34:05Speaker 1: to be, Like.
- 34:07Speaker 4: I feel like it's kind of in the back of
- 34:09Speaker 4: your head like a little bit, but obviously right now,
- 34:13Speaker 4: like I'm focused on like the last like hopefully three
- 34:17Speaker 4: games of our season, but it is definitely something like
- 34:20Speaker 4: you think about whether that's like what team you're going
- 34:23Speaker 4: to go to or kind of like how it's going
- 34:26Speaker 4: to be like moving to a new place. It's kind
- 34:28Speaker 4: of different depending on like how I think about it.
- 34:31Speaker 4: But I'm trying not to just because I have no
- 34:35Speaker 4: controller saying it anyway, So.
- 34:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I mean, and you know, speaking of your three games,
- 34:43Speaker 2: you got the you know, upcoming Frozen four back at
- 34:46Speaker 2: Penn State. Like how is that? And it's funny because
- 34:49Speaker 2: it's like, well, yeah, how do you go from Milan
- 34:52Speaker 2: to you know and playing in the Olympics to back
- 34:54Speaker 2: to the university hockey? But this is like this is huge,
- 34:58Speaker 2: So like talk about just being back and how do
- 35:01Speaker 2: you reset yourself and refocus for this run here at
- 35:04Speaker 2: Penn State.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like for me, it's just.
- 35:11Speaker 4: You haven't really like gotten like a lot of respect,
- 35:14Speaker 4: like as like a program.
- 35:16Speaker 5: And it's kind of.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Yeah, like that's like like we don't have anything to lose,
- 35:21Speaker 4: Like we don't have this years of like history to
- 35:26Speaker 4: to have to live up to. So it's kind of
- 35:27Speaker 4: just like being like playing free and and obviously now
- 35:31Speaker 4: it being at Pagola is insane. Like I feel like
- 35:36Speaker 4: I don't know, like the way I thought about it
- 35:37Speaker 4: is like they don't like choose places. I feel like
- 35:40Speaker 4: they think that like a Frozen four team is going
- 35:42Speaker 4: to be in for like no like bias or whatever.
- 35:44Speaker 4: So it's kind of cool that it worked out that
- 35:47Speaker 4: hopefully like we can be in be in one of
- 35:50Speaker 4: those games. So I feel like just getting our team
- 35:54Speaker 4: to like a place they've never been before, would be
- 35:57Speaker 4: so like super cool as a program, and just like
- 36:01Speaker 4: my last year here and like leaving that mark, so
- 36:04Speaker 4: just have to go and do it like playing free
- 36:07Speaker 4: and just know like everyone here is just as nervous
- 36:11Speaker 4: and wanting to play well. So at the end of
- 36:13Speaker 4: the day, it's going to be like who can come
- 36:15Speaker 4: together as a team.
- 36:16Speaker 1: So you're at a powerhouse right now in terms of
- 36:20Speaker 1: not only college athletics but also in terms of women's hockey.
- 36:22Speaker 1: You're from Orangeville, Illinois, population eight hundred. What was that like?
- 36:27Speaker 4: Oh gosh, I mean when you go to the Olympics,
- 36:31Speaker 4: it's pretty cool, like everyone comes out of the wood
- 36:34Speaker 4: works and reaches out to you. But yeah, I think
- 36:38Speaker 4: growing up it was just we were just known as
- 36:40Speaker 4: like the hockey family. They're like, oh, yeah, you're the
- 36:44Speaker 4: ones with the kids that play hockey and like that
- 36:46Speaker 4: sort of thing. But growing up, like I played other
- 36:50Speaker 4: sports as well, and I played softball like all throughout
- 36:54Speaker 4: high school, so like I still had like that like
- 36:57Speaker 4: tie like with the school just because like I went
- 37:00Speaker 4: away in high school for like boarding school and and whatnot,
- 37:03Speaker 4: but I still got to come back and play softball.
- 37:05Speaker 4: So like being a part of that community and that
- 37:08Speaker 4: sport is it was fun and it was big in
- 37:11Speaker 4: that area. So yeah, it's just like a lot of community.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Like you know all your teachers, some of your teachers
- 37:17Speaker 4: are your coaches like that sort of thing. And your
- 37:20Speaker 4: teachers are your neighbors. But yeah, I mean everyone from
- 37:24Speaker 4: there is so supportive and they constantly reach out to me.
- 37:28Speaker 4: So it's it's awesome. I love like that small town
- 37:32Speaker 4: feeling and being from there.
- 37:34Speaker 2: How did hockey become part of your life? Like, what
- 37:37Speaker 2: was the inspiration for it?
- 37:39Speaker 4: Oh gosh, I feel like my parents honestly just like
- 37:43Speaker 4: wanted to get me and my older brother like out
- 37:45Speaker 4: of the house at first. Like it wasn't like I
- 37:49Speaker 4: think my grandpa might have played hockey, but like it
- 37:52Speaker 4: wasn't like very common in our family. So but there
- 37:56Speaker 4: was like a rink like twelve fifteen minutes from our house,
- 37:59Speaker 4: so that's the rink, like I grew up playing at
- 38:01Speaker 4: until high school. And I think it kind of became
- 38:05Speaker 4: like a parent like that Me and my brothers were
- 38:07Speaker 4: always like the better players on the team, and like
- 38:11Speaker 4: if we like when I got to high school, if
- 38:13Speaker 4: I wanted to like pursue like college or like make
- 38:17Speaker 4: the Olympics one day, like I needed to find something else.
- 38:19Speaker 4: So then that's when I chose to go to to
- 38:22Speaker 4: Naha and high school and and from there, like so
- 38:26Speaker 4: many obviously college coaches are like at like every weekend,
- 38:30Speaker 4: so and from there, just obviously committed and.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Yeah, just said you go to the house, find something
- 38:38Speaker 1: to do, and all of a sudden you're at Penn State,
- 38:39Speaker 1: which yeah.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Mom and dad are like get out of here state.
- 38:43Speaker 2: They're like, shit, yeah that works.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they kind of just put us in
- 38:47Speaker 4: every sport, so and that was the one that just
- 38:50Speaker 4: kind of stuck with me and had the most fun playing.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean what's the experience been, Like, I
- 38:56Speaker 1: mean not only the hockey, but just the school. I
- 38:58Speaker 1: mean it's such an impressive place. Obviously it's known throughout
- 39:00Speaker 1: the country.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, like the school is is just like
- 39:04Speaker 4: unmatched and like a lot of categories, and obviously the
- 39:09Speaker 4: schooling itself is very good, and like the curriculum is
- 39:11Speaker 4: is hard, and the campus in general is just like beautiful.
- 39:16Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean obviously, like I came here and
- 39:21Speaker 4: actually at the time, like I didn't even like really,
- 39:25Speaker 4: like it wasn't really on my radar just because like
- 39:26Speaker 4: I hadn't really heard of Penn State, like I grew
- 39:28Speaker 4: up close to Wisconsin.
- 39:30Speaker 5: And and wanted to go there.
- 39:31Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, so like I grew up going to
- 39:37Speaker 4: like Wisconsin games, watching Hillary Knight and Brianna Decker and
- 39:40Speaker 4: Megan dug In like that group, So it was like
- 39:43Speaker 4: obviously I was drawn to like want to go there,
- 39:46Speaker 4: but like when a push came to show, like obviously
- 39:48Speaker 4: I chose Benn State, and like looking back on, I
- 39:51Speaker 4: wouldn't have wanted to choose anything else. And just like
- 39:56Speaker 4: being in this this school, like sports school is so
- 39:59Speaker 4: cool too, like that all the other sports are like
- 40:02Speaker 4: so good and like celebrated here. So it's it's been
- 40:06Speaker 4: awesome and I'm super grateful for it.
- 40:10Speaker 2: How how wild was playing against Robert Morris at Beaver
- 40:14Speaker 2: Stadium outdoor game.
- 40:16Speaker 5: I wasn't there?
- 40:18Speaker 2: What No?
- 40:19Speaker 4: Yeah, So, like we had left for the Olympics on
- 40:22Speaker 4: like the twenty twenty eighth or twenty ninth, and the
- 40:25Speaker 4: game was the thirtieth, so I had literally just missed it.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Like I got to do the photo shoot, but that
- 40:31Speaker 5: was it.
- 40:31Speaker 1: No.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So doing I know, I know, but it
- 40:38Speaker 5: was like that.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I mean, obviously going to the Olympics, like you're you're
- 40:42Speaker 2: heading off there, so it's hard to be like, you know,
- 40:45Speaker 2: you're you're going to play up some throwaway game up
- 40:48Speaker 2: in Rochester going to Milan. Yeah, like how But still
- 40:51Speaker 2: was it back your mind a little bit of like
- 40:53Speaker 2: what was the feedback you got from the girls and
- 40:57Speaker 2: the team and were you kind of like, shit, it
- 40:58Speaker 2: would have been so nice.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Well when they announced it, like they told us it
- 41:03Speaker 4: was like at the very beginning the year and they
- 41:04Speaker 4: said like kind of like the day that it might be,
- 41:07Speaker 4: like it was tentative, and then I was thinking, I
- 41:10Speaker 4: was like, well, like if I make the Olympics, like
- 41:13Speaker 4: I don't think I'll be at that game. So like
- 41:16Speaker 4: I kind of knew I think going into it, and
- 41:17Speaker 4: like the girls knew that, like I wasn't going to
- 41:20Speaker 4: be there for it, like hopefully wasn't going to be there.
- 41:24Speaker 4: But I did get to like skate on it kind
- 41:27Speaker 4: of and take pictures. But that was that was about it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: That's all that matters. You got the pictures on the ass, right,
- 41:33Speaker 2: people don't know for the gram Yeah, clearly. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
- 41:39Speaker 2: I mean then switching quickly. My last thing for about
- 41:42Speaker 2: Penn State would just be, you know, what has been
- 41:45Speaker 2: the Gavin McKenna effect since he's arrived there? And also
- 41:53Speaker 2: if somebody would should talk your mom at a bar,
- 41:55Speaker 2: would you knock their fucking block off too?
- 41:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Like obviously I think since coming here he's
- 42:02Speaker 4: grown hockey just in in Penn's like around Penn State
- 42:07Speaker 4: in this area in general. But yeah, it's like someone's
- 42:11Speaker 4: doing that to your mom or too, a family member,
- 42:13Speaker 4: Like you're gonna do that, like yes, like obviously like
- 42:17Speaker 4: he is, like obviously he is who he is. He's
- 42:21Speaker 4: known at the school and that's the unfortunate part about it.
- 42:23Speaker 5: But it's like if he.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Wasn't like anybody here, like no one would even like
- 42:27Speaker 4: know about that. And then like you do the same
- 42:30Speaker 4: thing like in that situation or like even if it's
- 42:34Speaker 4: just like pushing him, like tell him that maybe to
- 42:36Speaker 4: f off, but like everyone I feel like would have
- 42:39Speaker 4: done the same thing.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I love it, right, how right? And the kisser at man, Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 2: talk about my mom?
- 42:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, seriously tough to follow it up, but go ahead,
- 42:48Speaker 1: tew what you got.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Just I'm sorry a couple here, Tess.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I'm very curious about John Rabluski obviously done a great
- 42:56Speaker 3: job with with the national team and started out with
- 42:59Speaker 3: the development program coaching a lot of the guys who
- 43:02Speaker 3: would then go on to be on the men's team
- 43:04Speaker 3: to just one goal. So I was just curious if
- 43:06Speaker 3: he ever mentioned that experience with the development program and
- 43:10Speaker 3: some of the players that he had there.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Uh yeah, like he would, like you wouldn't really like
- 43:15Speaker 4: talk about it, but he would just like mentioned and
- 43:17Speaker 4: like all of us like knew that he he coached
- 43:20Speaker 4: there and he coached like that oh one group. But
- 43:24Speaker 4: I think like, like I'm sure like they said hi
- 43:27Speaker 4: and got to like catch up, but they asked us,
- 43:30Speaker 4: like some of the guys like asked us about him
- 43:32Speaker 4: and stuff like, but like we just kind of like
- 43:35Speaker 4: chopping compare notes. But yeah, I think it was kind
- 43:40Speaker 4: of a pretty cool story that like some of them
- 43:42Speaker 4: that he coached on like one team and then obviously
- 43:45Speaker 4: us and he got to be there for that was
- 43:46Speaker 4: it was pretty cool to like have that come together.
- 43:51Speaker 3: And last one for me since coming back on campus,
- 43:54Speaker 3: have you warned the gold medal in public on that?
- 44:00Speaker 4: No, Like I haven't like worn it out, but there's
- 44:03Speaker 4: I went to like this sushi plays and like I
- 44:05Speaker 4: go so much like this owner like kind of knows me,
- 44:08Speaker 4: and she like asked me to bring my medal the
- 44:11Speaker 4: next time, and so I brought in. She was like
- 44:13Speaker 4: taking pictures with it, and then there was like a
- 44:15Speaker 4: family or two that like came up and like also
- 44:18Speaker 4: took pictures at the time. But like, I haven't just
- 44:20Speaker 4: like worn it around campus. Like I've had a few
- 44:23Speaker 4: like interviews and stuff, but like nothing nothing crazy.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Free uh free sushi?
- 44:29Speaker 4: Role?
- 44:29Speaker 2: Is there anything?
- 44:30Speaker 4: Oh?
- 44:30Speaker 5: Yeah, Like I actually I actually got free dinner that night,
- 44:33Speaker 5: so ah yes, yes, so like that was pretty cool,
- 44:36Speaker 5: but like nothing nothing crazy nice.
- 44:40Speaker 2: I love it.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Well, it's been an unbelievable run for you, and certainly
- 44:43Speaker 1: you're deserving of all that success and all that's coming
- 44:45Speaker 1: up obviously with PWHL, So good luck with Penn State.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Congrats are representing your country to a gold medal. Test
- 44:50Speaker 1: to Janikie, thank you so much. This was awesome. Really
- 44:51Speaker 1: appreciate you.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks for having me, all.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Right, thanks so much the test once again, she was
- 45:04Speaker 1: it's great. The oscars are coming up on Sunday. I
- 45:06Speaker 1: encourage you to check out the meta of arc media production.
- 45:09Speaker 1: My friend Dan Levatard asked me a month ago. He said, listen,
- 45:11Speaker 1: I want to have you on to do an Oscar
- 45:13Speaker 1: show live on YouTube while it's happening. I said, well,
- 45:15Speaker 1: I actually really just watched the Oscars. He said, oh,
- 45:17Speaker 1: come on, it'll be great, We'll do it and I said, okay. Well,
- 45:19Speaker 1: he said what I want to do is we know
- 45:20Speaker 1: accommodation of selection Sunday and the Oscars. I said, wait
- 45:23Speaker 1: a second, So you want me to say how did
- 45:25Speaker 1: Mick Cronin and UCLA get screwed as a five seed?
- 45:27Speaker 1: Plus will Sean Penn win his third Oscar coming up next?
- 45:29Speaker 1: Because that's exactly what I want you to do. I
- 45:31Speaker 1: think it'll be hysterical, So we'll see what goes makes
- 45:34Speaker 1: you to join us this Sunday on YouTube meeting David
- 45:36Speaker 1: Sampson and many others. With regards to the Oscars, what's
- 45:38Speaker 1: making things fascinating is that there's actually some legit upsets now,
- 45:42Speaker 1: the ones that we know are in the bag. Best
- 45:44Speaker 1: picture is going to be one battle after another, much
- 45:46Speaker 1: of the chagrin of JD. He liked it, didn't love it,
- 45:48Speaker 1: But good news for you, it's probably not going to
- 45:50Speaker 1: be sinners. It won the PGA, which is the Producer's
- 45:52Speaker 1: Guild Award. You win the PGA, it's pretty much in
- 45:53Speaker 1: the bag. Even more in the bag. Paul Thomas Sampson's
- 45:56Speaker 1: gonna win Best Director of fifty five years of Age.
- 45:58Speaker 1: He's finally going to receive his long overdue Oscar. Another
- 46:00Speaker 1: one in the bag. Jesse Buckley, she's going to win
- 46:02Speaker 1: Best Actress for Hamnet. Great, great, and a terrific performance.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I think Pta actually might win for Screenplay as well.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Haven't done my official ballot yet. That could be three
- 46:10Speaker 1: Oscars for him. But here's the good news. We've got
- 46:12Speaker 1: three legit races in the other categories. Sometimes when it
- 46:15Speaker 1: comes to the top six four acting categories, Picture and Director,
- 46:19Speaker 1: you feel like five of the six, you know you
- 46:20Speaker 1: got three good races now. Supporting actor Sean Penn hadn't
- 46:23Speaker 1: won anything. Then he wins the Baft of the British Oscar.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Then he won that the Actor Awards formally known as
- 46:28Speaker 1: the Sex He doesn't show up to any ceremony. He
- 46:30Speaker 1: couldn't care less. He's backstage smoking somewhere like that. Can
- 46:33Speaker 1: you just come to the awards. Mcfine now him and
- 46:35Speaker 1: Stellin Scarsguard. It's a coin flip. Scarsgard was thought to
- 46:38Speaker 1: be the favorite for sentimental value, but not as many
- 46:40Speaker 1: people love that film as they love one battle after another.
- 46:43Speaker 1: So the juggernaut that is that movie. Penn could win
- 46:46Speaker 1: his third Oscar. That rarefied air. Pacino's got one Oscar,
- 46:50Speaker 1: de Niro's got two oscars, Hoffin's got too. You tell me,
- 46:53Speaker 1: Sean Penn's gonna have more oscars than Paccino and de Niro.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Hell Of as many as Nicholson, hell Of as many
- 46:57Speaker 1: as Daniel day Lewis. That's a legit race. Best Supporting
- 47:01Speaker 1: Actress is interesting. Tianna Taylor was thought to be the favorite.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Comes to Amy Madigan, JD's wife dressed up as her
- 47:07Speaker 1: for Halloween. She hasn't won an Oscar ever, Her last
- 47:10Speaker 1: nomination was forty years ago. And who didn't love her
- 47:13Speaker 1: and feel the dreams is Kevin Cosher's wife. So supporting
- 47:15Speaker 1: actress a great race, Tianna Taylor, Amy Madigan.
- 47:18Speaker 2: And here's the I mean, come on, here's the Amy Madigan.
- 47:22Speaker 1: You think Madigan should win? For sure?
- 47:23Speaker 2: I love one hundred but and I think shut one
- 47:27Speaker 2: hundred percent Amy Madgie, that was an incredible performance. And
- 47:30Speaker 2: then Sean Penn incredible performance. Hey adn't do you like
- 47:34Speaker 2: black girls?
- 47:36Speaker 1: I love because I love him his walk along to
- 47:40Speaker 1: win him an Oscar, and that gets us to the
- 47:42Speaker 1: big one. This is the one that is absolutely fascinating.
- 47:45Speaker 1: His best actor all along. It's been timid shallam is.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Award to win or award to lose. He wins the
- 47:52Speaker 1: Golden Globe, not that the BAFT to some guy you've
- 47:54Speaker 1: never heard of wins. Then you have the whole Turett's controversy.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Then the actor awards to go. It's gonna be slm no,
- 47:59Speaker 1: Michael B. Jordan coming over the top, winning for sinners.
- 48:02Speaker 1: And now if you go on gold Derby dot com,
- 48:04Speaker 1: which is a premieer Oscar pugnoskeating site, this is a
- 48:07Speaker 1: coin flip. Shallow May could lose the Oscar to doing
- 48:10Speaker 1: everything in his power. He's smashing Kylie Jenner. He's doing
- 48:13Speaker 1: every single promotional event possible. He went to Japan. I'm
- 48:16Speaker 1: watching the World Baseball Classic. There's Chawoman. Look what bad
- 48:19Speaker 1: bunnies there? So is Drake May and there's shallow May.
- 48:23Speaker 1: He'll promote this movie. Ever is just trying desperately to
- 48:26Speaker 1: win an oscar. This guy's so thirsty to please the ballet.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I'm thirty years old. I won an oscar and it's
- 48:31Speaker 1: gonna be Michael B. Jordan playing two guys who might
- 48:34Speaker 1: beat him for sinners. Unbelievable race.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I just watched him smoking stack and sinners again. Uh?
- 48:41Speaker 2: What did Chad May do with the ballet? The shitting
- 48:43Speaker 2: on ballet and opera? Is that an old clip? Have
- 48:45Speaker 2: you seen that?
- 48:46Speaker 1: I'm seeing it? No, tal, do you know what he's talking?
- 48:48Speaker 3: It's a recent clip. He said, nobody cares about ballet.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Wow, he's not winning now. He went after the arts.
- 48:56Speaker 2: They can't win it.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Weird time, all these artistic people.
- 48:59Speaker 2: You're right, that could cost you tal, that could cost
- 49:02Speaker 2: you shit on ballet, go home empty handed.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Tell what are you most excited about? The ostras coming up?
- 49:09Speaker 2: Like I said, I'm talking ballet here.
- 49:12Speaker 1: It is the Acadelly of Motion. You did the ballet?
- 49:15Speaker 1: Come he's just stared at you.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Go ahead, Diavid, the Academy of Motion Pictures.
- 49:23Speaker 3: I was curious if is there any shot for Ethan
- 49:25Speaker 3: Hawk and Blue Moon.
- 49:26Speaker 1: No, I'd love to see it. Of course, you know,
- 49:28Speaker 1: he's my guy and sometimes, as I mentioned Madigan Lifetime
- 49:31Speaker 1: Achievement Awards, he's an unbelievable actor. I thought he might
- 49:33Speaker 1: win the British Academy Awards. I thought if Hawk won
- 49:36Speaker 1: that he might have a chance or the Actor Awards,
- 49:38Speaker 1: because there is something to be said for an actor
- 49:40Speaker 1: who's done great, great work for a long time. And
- 49:42Speaker 1: this is his first ever Best Actor nomination. Ethought's fifty
- 49:45Speaker 1: six years of age. He's been acting since Dead Poets Society.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Oh Captain, My captain, way back in nineteen eighty nine.
- 49:50Speaker 1: So twice been nominated for Supporting Actor. He was nominated
- 49:53Speaker 1: for Training Day. He was nominated for Boyhood. He's been
- 49:56Speaker 1: nominated twice for screenplay he co wrote with link Later
- 49:59Speaker 1: and Julie Delpy course The Whole Before Midnight Trilogy. First
- 50:02Speaker 1: ever Best Actor nomination, it would be a gen an
- 50:04Speaker 1: upset this point, Talan. I would love to see it.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I'll lose my mind if Ethan Hawk wins. But I
- 50:08Speaker 1: think right now it's Michael B. Jordan versus Shallow Maye
- 50:11Speaker 1: and Brad Pitt was thought to have a lot a
- 50:12Speaker 1: certain not Brad. Excuse me. Leonard DiCaprio's thought to have
- 50:14Speaker 1: a lot of juice. He's completely followed off. Originally thought
- 50:17Speaker 1: it was Leo versus Timmy. DiCaprio has not won any
- 50:19Speaker 1: major award. Could be Michael b for Sinners taken down
- 50:23Speaker 1: Timmy and Marty Supreme. With that, we go back to
- 50:27Speaker 1: the pucks. Buffalo Sabers action for you.
- 50:29Speaker 2: JD.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Listen, you were just there. You're hot on the Sabers
- 50:31Speaker 1: right now. They lost seven four in Calgary December eighth.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Sabers there were dead last to Eastern Conference eleven fourteen
- 50:37Speaker 1: and four. Record since then twenty nine five and two.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Thirty now thirty five and two.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Excuse me, first, they.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Just won last night's fifth last night's wins twenty nine?
- 50:49Speaker 2: Was it twenty eight nine and five? It was now
- 50:51Speaker 2: now it's twenty nine, twenty nine. We'll soon to be thirty.
- 50:54Speaker 1: But you're talking about an eight to seven win. Two
- 50:56Speaker 1: teams combined for one hundred and two penalty minutes game
- 50:59Speaker 1: mark in the first time two teams combined for fifteen
- 51:01Speaker 1: goals and twenty seven penalties. It's the Flyers and Canadians
- 51:05Speaker 1: did at February twenty first of nineteen ninety four, Buffalo.
- 51:09Speaker 1: We know he's going to the playoffs. But going back
- 51:11Speaker 1: to your point about the joy right now, the exultation
- 51:14Speaker 1: on Chippewa is this gonna be the second best team
- 51:16Speaker 1: in the Eastern Conference behind the Lightning.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Key Bump center right now, keeper high as a kite
- 51:21Speaker 2: out there.
- 51:22Speaker 1: See Bakery has become Key Bump right.
- 51:25Speaker 2: It's I listen. Even last night against the Sharks, they
- 51:30Speaker 2: fucking two fights, Logan Stanley fights at center ice. Do
- 51:33Speaker 2: you see his comments after that Tampa game. He's like
- 51:37Speaker 2: he has April sixth circled in the calendar, which I
- 51:40Speaker 2: think is a great time to have that game because
- 51:44Speaker 2: I consider those two teams and with Carolina, you gotta
- 51:47Speaker 2: give Carolina some love. As much as we're pissed at them,
- 51:49Speaker 2: that they never pissed a drop at the deadline. You know,
- 51:51Speaker 2: they're a little bit scarred from the Miko Ranton and stuff,
- 51:54Speaker 2: so I'm not surprised they didn't shoot from the hip.
- 51:57Speaker 2: But I think that's you know, it's the two best
- 52:00Speaker 2: teams and they're going to meet each other either in
- 52:02Speaker 2: the first or second round, most likely second round. So
- 52:06Speaker 2: I'm Buffalo in Tampa playing April sixth. It is gonna
- 52:10Speaker 2: be a war in that game. I imagine Scott Savergn's
- 52:14Speaker 2: playing in that game and gets kicked out in the
- 52:16Speaker 2: first ten minutes, probably because he just got another he's
- 52:19Speaker 2: got to fight the Panthers and now he's gotta fight
- 52:21Speaker 2: the Buffalo Sabers. So they they're big, they're strong. I
- 52:25Speaker 2: watch them, They play physical, they hang on the bucks.
- 52:27Speaker 2: This is a well built hockey team. And you know,
- 52:29Speaker 2: they save Lindy Ruff's job. And you know, I'm sure
- 52:32Speaker 2: Kevin Adams is sitting somewhere in the beach being like,
- 52:35Speaker 2: if only they had kept me for a couple more weeks,
- 52:39Speaker 2: it would have all been fine. But Yamo kick a
- 52:41Speaker 2: line and comes in on his wearing a cape, and
- 52:44Speaker 2: you know, saves the team somewhat apparently. And this team
- 52:48Speaker 2: is so hot. But I think these are the two
- 52:50Speaker 2: best teams right now in the East, with Carolina a
- 52:53Speaker 2: close third, maybe a two B. But they are their
- 52:57Speaker 2: neck and neck, and it is a gonna be interesting
- 53:00Speaker 2: to see how that first second round plays out.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Long ears the Buffalo Savers that playoff trout will soon
- 53:06Speaker 1: be over with the Guards to the Western Conference. First
- 53:09Speaker 1: round playoff match, which slowly starting to take shape. But
- 53:11Speaker 1: what I'm curious about is that final wildcard spot. The
- 53:14Speaker 1: cracking right now, sixty seven points? Are the Kings at
- 53:17Speaker 1: sixty seven points? Now the cracking of a game in
- 53:19Speaker 1: hand your Sharks? Right now, you're in the midst of
- 53:21Speaker 1: calling games to the Sharks. They're one point back at Seattle,
- 53:24Speaker 1: but they've got a game in HND in Seattle, and
- 53:26Speaker 1: they got two games in on LA. Nashville also has
- 53:29Speaker 1: sixty six points, same as San Jose. And then they
- 53:32Speaker 1: got the Winnipeg Jets at sixty points. So kracking Kings, Sharks, Predators,
- 53:37Speaker 1: and Jets. Five teams right now separated by five points.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Who makes it in? It's not gonna be your Sharks,
- 53:42Speaker 1: It's gonna be the cracking Johnny Forestland's team, Lane Lambert,
- 53:46Speaker 1: great defense and we love Joey de Court, great guests
- 53:48Speaker 1: at NHL inscripted a puck moving goalie. It's the kracking.
- 53:51Speaker 1: What say you well?
- 53:53Speaker 2: And even the Jets Jets still points out what happened
- 53:56Speaker 2: to the Jets? They're dead in the water all of
- 53:58Speaker 2: a sudden, Yeah, Scott ar'neil's got the boys playing. We
- 54:02Speaker 2: lose last night, though, but big gaming. I mean, I
- 54:05Speaker 2: mean right now, when you look at this, this Pacific
- 54:09Speaker 2: specifically and leading into this wildcard spot is so open.
- 54:13Speaker 2: It's sickening to me. It's like the East last year.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I don't you know, I'm with the Sharks. I'm watching
- 54:20Speaker 2: the game, you know, I just don't think. I think
- 54:23Speaker 2: they're a couple of years away. I think this has
- 54:26Speaker 2: been what they wanted, the step in the right direction
- 54:28Speaker 2: like that, They've taken an enormous step. I think they
- 54:31Speaker 2: exceeded everybody's expectations. This is the make or break road
- 54:34Speaker 2: trip for them right now, because you know, they played
- 54:37Speaker 2: Buffalo last night and it wasn't a great game for him.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I just think they got kind of out classed in
- 54:42Speaker 2: a couple of positions and then they're but now they're
- 54:45Speaker 2: going to play Boston, Montreal, Ottawa and Edmonton. So it's
- 54:50Speaker 2: literally four teams that are all hunting for the playoffs,
- 54:54Speaker 2: and then the last one being the Oilers, which is
- 54:56Speaker 2: their Pacific rivals. So it's it's a four point game.
- 54:58Speaker 2: So there are seasons on the line, I think in
- 55:03Speaker 2: this road trip, because if they go zero for four
- 55:05Speaker 2: or for five or I think they're done. They got
- 55:06Speaker 2: to stay five hundred get back home. But you know,
- 55:09Speaker 2: I'm not sure about the Sharks. I think the Kings
- 55:12Speaker 2: for me is the best story with Copatar's last year.
- 55:15Speaker 2: But also, you know, I can't envision the Seattle Krack
- 55:20Speaker 2: and the Sharks making it. I don't think either one
- 55:24Speaker 2: of them does. I think they just miss. And I
- 55:26Speaker 2: think I think it's gonna come down to probably the
- 55:29Speaker 2: Predators or the Kings. I think the Predators are the Kings.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I think it's the Predators. Yeah, but I would I
- 55:37Speaker 2: would be remiss if I didn't say watch out for
- 55:41Speaker 2: the Vegas Golden Knights right now, because they are anemic
- 55:46Speaker 2: and they are not playing good whatsoever. And I think
- 55:52Speaker 2: they'll figure it out and they should make it into
- 55:54Speaker 2: the playoffs. But I wouldn't be surprised if they scare
- 55:59Speaker 2: the shit out of us and really bring it to
- 56:02Speaker 2: the wire, because they haven't beat a playoff team, I think,
- 56:06Speaker 2: and there's a crazy stat out there.
- 56:08Speaker 1: November twenty the last time they beat a playoff team.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yeah, last time they beat a team in the playoffs.
- 56:12Speaker 2: And their record against teams you know in the playoffs
- 56:16Speaker 2: is not great. And their next you know, they don't
- 56:18Speaker 2: have a crazy schedule coming up, but they still have
- 56:21Speaker 2: a you know, you get the Penguins, the Blackhawks, the Sabers,
- 56:24Speaker 2: but then they go Mammoth, Predators, Stars, Jets, Oilers, Like
- 56:30Speaker 2: that is a that is a stretch of teams that
- 56:33Speaker 2: are chasing you, and you're chasing. So uh, this could
- 56:37Speaker 2: this could get interesting in a hurry right now. And
- 56:40Speaker 2: I think we could have two teams that are in
- 56:42Speaker 2: the playoffs missing currently.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Interesting that Vegas with the swoon. You're right as far
- 56:47Speaker 1: as projecting ahead. I'm just again surprised by the Kings.
- 56:50Speaker 1: I guess you're a huge DJ Smith guy. You know,
- 56:52Speaker 1: I'm not fu DJ Smith is the guy that's unbelievable
- 56:55Speaker 1: to me.
- 56:56Speaker 2: No, I just think they have a you know, you
- 56:58Speaker 2: got the Breadman pin Aera in there. He's kind of
- 57:00Speaker 2: finding his stride. They got some good young talent. I mean,
- 57:04Speaker 2: if they can just again, you're not like if you
- 57:07Speaker 2: look at the teams like unfortunately, you're kind of, as
- 57:11Speaker 2: Darryl Sutter once said so eloquently, you know they're making
- 57:15Speaker 2: whoever's making into that first wild card spot. You're just
- 57:18Speaker 2: trying to get nine extra days in the NHL because
- 57:21Speaker 2: you're gonna get swept against the Colorado Avalanche. Like I'm sorry,
- 57:26Speaker 2: but you're just you're playing tip. You're playing to delay
- 57:29Speaker 2: your summer by a week and two days. That's really
- 57:32Speaker 2: all it is. Darryl Sutter, just say well, it's a
- 57:34Speaker 2: nine day extension. There it is. She gown. I just
- 57:39Speaker 2: you're telling me you're gonna roll into the playoffs right now.
- 57:42Speaker 2: You can barely win. These teams can barely string a
- 57:45Speaker 2: four game winning streak together. You're gonna go play the
- 57:47Speaker 2: Colorado Avalanche fully healthy nas Kadri Nick wah Landeskog, healthy mcarr, McKinnon,
- 57:55Speaker 2: na Chius like you're gonna gets its doors blown off.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Four maybe five.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Penguin's Avalanche coming up Amazon Prime. I can't wait to
- 58:05Speaker 1: go to Denver by the way to check out those
- 58:07Speaker 1: names that you just mentioned. We're hoping to get sit
- 58:09Speaker 1: back for that game. Macklin should be back, excuse me,
- 58:12Speaker 1: Malcolm should be back after that five game suspension of.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Macklin traded after the deadline to Pittsburgh.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Handing out flowers to Macklin celebrity the baby faced assassin.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Our last thought here, incredible numbers with his goal in
- 58:24Speaker 1: Buffalo Tuesday Night celebrity reaching ninety points in sixty two games,
- 58:28Speaker 1: third fastest teenager to reach ninety behind Sidney Crosby at
- 58:32Speaker 1: Wayne Gretzky. How about tow digging up that stut.
- 58:35Speaker 2: Only four players in Shark's history that have had ninety
- 58:40Speaker 2: points in a season Joe Thornton, Patrick Marlowe No, Patrick
- 58:46Speaker 2: marlow never had ninety points. Jonathan Chea Chu Chee che
- 58:50Speaker 2: is a great one, Wow Cheech and then god, they
- 58:56Speaker 2: told me last Pavelski. Now keep going. I know who
- 59:00Speaker 2: it is. I got it. Now, come on, think of it.
- 59:03Speaker 2: He had a big season. Owen Nolan, no o Nolan
- 59:07Speaker 2: at eighty six. It's a it's somebody that is. It's
- 59:11Speaker 2: not Afford, it's a defenseman. Eric Carlson, Yeah, Eric Carlson,
- 59:18Speaker 2: good clue Norris season. Yeah. Can you believe that this
- 59:21Speaker 2: fucking kid, he's he's so good.
- 59:25Speaker 1: He just he's done something that Joe, Pavelski and Patrick
- 59:28Speaker 1: Marlin never did.
- 59:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Patty Marlow's most points in the season was I
- 59:32Speaker 2: think was eighty six. Isn't that crazy?
- 59:36Speaker 1: That's crazy?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Yeah, in one hundred and thirty games. That's that. I
- 59:43Speaker 2: hate him. He's too good. He's such a good kid,
- 59:45Speaker 2: too awesome.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Well, good stuff from Jason Merced on the road right
- 59:49Speaker 1: now with the San Jose Sharks. We'll get Nate Thompson
- 59:51Speaker 1: back in the previous engagement, but he should be back
- 59:53Speaker 1: with us next week, and tw will still find out
- 59:55Speaker 1: what Kent Hughes was thinking with the Guards of Montreal.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Canadians enjoy the Oscars on Sunday. We'll see you next time.
