- Jackson: Hey everyone, welcome back. My name's Jackson, that's Davis, and this is the Mike Check Podcast. Davis, I'll start it off like I always do. How's it going? Davis: Going well. We've hit the most enjoyable time of the sports calendar. We have NFL, college football, baseball playoffs. I don't really watch hockey, but hockey's starting back up. Jackson: Yeah, yeah, they're all they're all rolling right now. baseball playoffs got me a little a little nervous at this this time of the year, but all is well. All is well, a lot lot going on on T V, so a lot to stress out about if if you watch all the all the games and have a team for every sport, so the record button got us again, or I guess it was technical difficulties last time. It wasn't the record button. Something with the recording software that we use, like it glitched out last time and didn't record half the stuff and you know, we didn't have time to re record some of the the recap episodes. So LSU mis or sorry, LSU text and name got cut. And a little bit of the Mississippi State Missouri game last week got cut. So fingers crossed this is a this is a smooth episode and we can get moving and and get through this one without any anything going wrong 'cause seems like we got off to a good start with with the podcast thing and then the last week or so it's just kinda been downhill with not hitting record and then the technical difficulties last episode. But we'll get through it. It'll be all right. Davis: Yeah, we're hitting the the tough part of it now. We started off so well, no issues and yeah, like you said, running into Jackson: If you see that message pop up again, let me know like immediately so we can stop and and regroup. But let's let's jump in do the the week five stuff. I can't believe we're already in week five, wow, but some semi big week, nothing too crazy going on. All right, first pick six of the game of the week. We got Alabama traveling to Starkville, just across state lines to play Mississippi. Line here is Bama minus five and a half. obviously no secret, two explosive offenses, two really talented quarterbacks that we expect a lot from from both of these teams in this game. Keelan Russell, obviously the freshman that's for Alabama, that's you know kind of started to come on. recently showing kind of all he can do. And then you have Camario Taylor who's kind of been somewhat of like the storyline of college football this year, or one of one of the big storylines. I mean he's he's kind of exploded onto the scene and and has you know, you see that a sixteen by Mississippi State, ranked in the A P poll that high for the first time in a long time. So big matchup in Starkville. What do you what do you got for this one, Davis? Davis: Can you tell me the last time Mississippi State beat Alabama? I was looking all this up earlier. Do you know what it is? Jackson: Two thousand three. Davis: Two thousand and seven. So I think it was it was Saban's first year and Mississippi State squeak squeaked out a win there. But the the series record is like eighty six and like eighteen or something ridiculous like that. I wish I had it pulled up still, but Jackson: Yeah, it's it's right here. Graphics guys on it. Don't worry. Davis: damn, I just I just pulled that. I did not see that, but I pulled that from memory. So that's Kinda impressive. yeah. thank you, Millich, for putting that on the the graphics there. Gotta always give a shout Jackson: Yeah, shout out shout out Millage, that's appreciate it. Davis: out for every episode. But yeah. I I think you definitely hit the nail on the head with the explosive offenses. Just to kinda add, I guess, context for that. I'm a stat nerd when it if y'all haven't been able to tell, but Bama and Mississippi State ranked in the eighty sixth and eighty seventh percentile in explosive play rate. So Expect a lot of big plays. Alabama is actually giving up explos explosive run plays in the sixteenth percentile. So one of the worst teams when it turned in terms of giving up explosive runs, which is kind of surprising given, you know, what this Alabama defense was supposed to be. I know they've been good at times. They've been good against the past, but the explosive runs have have kind of hurt this defense. Jackson: Yeah, th they've definitely shown a little bit more vulnerability through this point in the season than I probably thought they would, given the schedule that they've played. I think one thing to watch in this game is, you know, Camario Taylor's kind of been able to do whatever he wants in a lot of these games. I know they s they were down to South Carolina and they came back and won that game. they were down last week to Missouri, came back and won that game. I think You can't afford to get down in a game against Alabama. I think the offense is too explosive. I don't think the Mississippi State defense is gonna be able to just completely shut the offense down for Mississippi State to be able to mount a comeback late in the second half, the second quarter, whenever it is. I just don't think they can afford to go down big. Bama's pass rush has been pretty good getting home with four to this point in the season. So that's another thing that Mississippi State probably is not gonna be like super accustomed to. Yeah, Missouri's front is not great. South Carolina did not have Dylan Stewart, I don't believe, when they played Mississippi State. So the pass rush and playing a front like Bama's is gonna be, I think, a little bit of a wake up call from Mississippi State. Davis: Yeah. And I'm interested to see how the physical corners of Alabama match up to the the speed that Mississippi has out wide. I mean th this is probably the fastest team that Alabama will play up to this point. You know, Florida State kinda gave them troubles, but Deuce Robinson, Florida State's receiver, is one of the is a, you know, bigger body and he had a good game, but this is a whole different ball game with with the the type of receivers that Mississippi State employs. Jackson: Yeah. Different builds. Right. Davis: Yeah. Yeah. Also worth noting, and we haven't brought him up yet, but definitely worth mentioning. Fluff Bothwell, Mississippi State's running back. the main reason for Mississippi State's explosive plays, or I wouldn't say main reason, the second biggest reason behind Kamario Taylor. So far through four games, rushed for four hundred and two yards at five and a half yards per carry. one of the better running backs in the league. So someone to definitely look out for here. Jackson: Is he banged up? You know, he went down in the Missouri game. I haven't seen any like thing that I don't I don't think he's out necessarily, but I think he may be a little bit banged up. And I guess, you know, that's all running backs when you get into Davis: Yeah. Jackson: the meat of the season, but something to look out for if he maybe I think it was an angle. So, you know, if he rolls on that angle Davis: So he's listed as Jackson: wrong, it could be a short leash. Davis: Yeah, he's listed as prob probable, so don't see any reason that he misses it, but Jackson: Okay. So nothing too serious. Davis: could be, you know, limited. Jackson: Yeah. for me if Mississippi State's gonna try to win this game, it's gonna have to be it's gonna have to look like one of the vintage you know, old school Bama losses from the kind of the prime of the Sabin days. I think Camario Taylor's gonna have to put the team on his back and just have a career day. obviously they're gonna have to run the ball. I don't think I don't think he's gonna be able to just drop back and sling it on Bama's defense like he did against South Carolina and on Missouri. I think, like I said, it's a different animal. But, you know, when you add the run game element to that, if you make Bama put some more guys in the box and leave those corners and those safeties out on islands one on one against the receivers, you know, like you said, it's it's a different type of receiver. The the speed and the quickness is gonna be a lot different than Alabama's seen so far this season. So, that's that's a big key to the game for me. If they can run the ball and kind of make Bama stack the box more, get those one on one matchups and let Camario Taylor kind of go to work and Put the ball where needs to be. I think that's where things could get dangerous for Alabama. So to me that's the recipe for a loss going on the road if you're if you're Bama. Davis: Yeah, I think Camario Taylor's gonna have to beat him with with his legs if Mississippi State wants to win this game. I know you you saw, you know, last year you had Florida State put up in that upset win. Tommy Casciano's ran for a whole lot of yards. You know, the narrative around Alabama, and I know it was mostly during the Saban days, was if you're gonna beat them, you need a mobile quarterback. I think that that narrative is Kinda remain true so far. so that's that's one thing that I'm looking out for. off the top of your head, how did Ashton Daniels like run the ball against Shaw? Jackson: Well, I was I was in a wedding for that game, so I was kinda watching it on the phone, you know, here and there. So I I don't think his run game was a big part of that. from what I can remember, it was a lot of just we kinda sent the house at him and he was just either putting the ball on the money or the receivers were going up and getting it. I mean he just had a good game, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: throwing the ball. So and I think if you're Alabama, what you have to do in this game is weather the storm early. You're going on the road, you're playing an eleven o'clock game, like you can't do what you did against Kentucky. Kind of the same Davis: Yeah. Jackson: thing I said about Bama's offense. Mississippi State's offense, it's gonna be tough to shut them down and and just hold them to nothing if you get behind early in a game, especially on the road. So I think you just gotta weather the storm, get this game into the second, third quarter, and just kind of grind it out. and I I think Davis: Speaking of Storm, have you seen the forecast for this game? Jackson: I don't think it's coming. I I think I think it's moving out. I d I don't think it's actually Davis: really? Jackson: gonna be yeah. So the the initial weather forecasts were rainy, like you know, just complete downpour. But from what I've seen it benefits the underdog always, in my opinion. Davis: And I think that benefits Mississippi State if it if it is that well, I think it benefits the underdog and it benefits the team that is more prepared to run the ball, which you know, Mississippi State one of the better rushing teams, not only with Fluff Bothwell, but with Camario Taylor too. And then you have the tendency to Alabama to give up big plays to the run. But I I guess I was kinda going back and forth with my pick. I I kinda settled in on Alabama and then saw the weather and did make me hesitate, but I'm glad that you have looked at the weather since then. I'm gonna go with Bama here. Austin Simmons had a had a field day against that defense last week. I've really come on to the fact that Keelan Russell is legit and I think that he can, you know, do whatever Austin Simmons did and more. So I like Alabama minus five and a half here. Jackson: Yeah, I'm gonna roll with you. And I think that's a good point. another I think it's you know, to g to get Keelan Russell off his spot, Mis Mississippi State's gonna have to throw a lot of blitz packages at him. and I think that's kind of what teams have tried to do so far in the season. Florida State tried to do and we had a pretty great answer in the second half. So I think if you're Keelan Russell, you're watching a lot of that Florida State film. And seeing kind of where to go with the ball against the heavy bloods packages. So I think having seen a lot of that already. And also Mississippi State's kind of had to play all their cards, you know, early in the season, if that makes any sense. They played two really close games, so there's not anything that they've necessarily held back. Where, you know, you can always add things, but at this point in the season with offense and with defense, you've kind of you've shown everything. So There's nothing new that scheme wise that you're gonna see from them other than, you know, a few plays they may install and and practice this this past week. So anyways, b bottom line, I got Bama. I think they're just too much for them. I think Mississippi State's good, but I don't think they're to that level yet. Next game, Ohio State. Good on the road to play Iowa. line is Ohio State minus thirteen and a half. What you got for this one, Davis? Davis: Yeah, so this game is really strength on strength. You have Ohio State's prolific offense against I was very good defense. I was coming off of a last second win against Michigan, which was a led by a Hank Brown like eighty yard drive as time expired. So big win for them. And then you have Jeremiah Smith who absolutely went nuclear last week against Illinois, put up, you know, two hundred and seventeen yards and four touchdowns. So we'll be interesting to see, you know, which mismatch takes advantage. Jackson: Yeah. I don't think Iowa's defence is necessarily as stout as they as maybe we think they are. I know Davis: I agree. Jackson: the points per game allowed says eight and you know, you give up nineteen to Michigan, which is not much, but Buchanan and March for Michigan last week both had over a hundred yards. So Michigan was able to throw the ball, and to me that is a little bit concerning if you're Iowa, with a team like Ohio State coming into town with their you know, all the explosive weapons and then Jeremiah Smith, Julian Saiyan, just all the guys they have. You you have Michigan whose passing offense is essentially non existent, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: with two guys going over a hundred yards, and then here comes Ohio State and I don't know. I I just don't think it this matches up well for Iowa. To be honest, I think Ohio State's gonna, get out to an early lead and Iowa's just never gonna be able to catch up. Michigan's defense Davis: Yeah. Jackson: is good, so is Ohio State's defense. Davis: Yeah. I'm I'm really glad that you said that actually. I know that when we were doing the preview last week we were talking about how good the mission or the Iowa defense is against the pass and we didn't expect Bryce Underwood to be able to push the ball through the air, which was kind of the opposite of what actually happened. I was still fortunate enough to win that game. But Bryce Underwood I thought had one of his best days given the opponent He went 17 of 28, 276, two touchdowns, and an interception. So really able to move the ball. And kind of going back to last week, I did touch on I was like EPA per pass allowed and how that number was very elite. Well, one of the problems with like citing these metrics so early in the season is that It is such a small sample size. That number, which I think last week was in the top five against the pass, is already dropped to the like mid fifties. So I I think I definitely agree with you when you said that Iowa's defense may not be everything that it was hyped up to be. And for that reason, I'm gonna go with Ohio State minus thirteen and a half here as well. Jackson: Yeah, I mean the other thing about Iowa's offense, I mean, I know you can read into the numbers, the rush yards, pass yards per game stuff as much as you want, but honestly at this point of the season it's kind of just a lot to do. I mean you can look at numbers first power force. Right, right. It's like Davis: Lot of it is who have you played? And you can try to adjust as much as you can for that, but it only gets you so so much. I I do agree. Jackson: Right. And and to me, I was strength of their offense has actually been the passing game. I mean the Michigan di Davis: Hank Browns look good. Jackson: Yeah, and the Michigan game was so stagnant last week. I mean they had the two kind of they had the two minute drive they scored on the last play of the game. You take that touchdown off the board, they only score fourteen points and then I think they had like a tip pass or something, touchdown. I didn't watch the whole game, but Their their pass their pass game is actually the strength of the the of their offense. It's not the rush game, so or the rushing attack. Davis: No, it is not. Jackson: Ohio State, their strength is their pass defense. their if you want to call it a weakness, would I would say would be their rushing defense. So I think that is also a little bit unfortunate for Iowa. they're only averaging around six yards per completion. So it's a lot of this like you know, dink and dunk, five yard stops, five yard outs, spot routes. drags, so it's it's not it's not really much of a passing attack. The offense just isn't very good. the mismatch is too big in this one, so I got Ohio State laying the thirteen and a half. Davis: Yeah. Last two times they've played against each other, which was sorry, I know you already went to the next slide. Twenty twenty four, Jackson: No, you're good. Go ahead. Davis: Ohio State won by twenty eight and twenty twenty two, Ohio State won by forty four. Jackson: Yeah. And I I know it's like different years, but to me it's different years, but it's the same style and the same scheme to it to an extent. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I think that definitely matters somewhat. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Next game, number eight, Florida, going to Columbia to play number twenty five, Missouri, who was coming off a loss last week against Mississippi State. Florida, obviously coming off a big win, fifty two twenty eight against Ole Miss. The line here is Florida, minus five and a half, over under, set at fifty seven and a half. Davis: Yeah, Florida's four and for the first time since twenty nineteen. Jackson: Yeah, that was the that was the Trask year. Or maybe that was twenty twenty, but it was twenty twenty. Or it was maybe twenty nineteen Davis: Trask was yeah. Jackson: too, but they played Bam on the S C championship in twenty. Davis: Yeah, I guess they didn't start four and that year. Maybe. Jackson: Maybe. Anyways, it's a it's a big year for Florida. They're they're back Davis: I don't know. But yeah, Trask was the covet year. Jackson: for the first time in a while. It seems like John Semeros got them got them on the right track. you think this is a letdown spot for for Florida? Davis: I think potentially. But the one thing that that is consistent is your run game. You know, they they always say run game travels, and I know that this is is in Missouri, so I could say that the run game travels here as well, but I think the run game allows you to have a floor to kinda keep you from letting down. Does that make sense? Jackson: Yeah, no, I agree. Davis: So I I I don't I don't think so. I yeah. And I know that this has been the the Buster Faulkner show podcast recently with the amount of I guess times we've talked about him, or at least I've talked about him. Jackson: Yeah, I I just think, you know, Florida scored fifty two points against Ole Miss. And they scored forty four against Auburn. I don't know what the numbers say, but I don't think Missouri's defense is as good or definitely is not better than Ole Miss's defense or Auburn's defense. I mean, th th you look at the stats, like I said, they haven't really played anyone. They played Mississippi State last week. To me, that was the only team that you can really take into account when it comes to stats. They did play Kansas, but Kansas has shown that they're not very good this year, so they're they're able to score points though. So I I do think that Austin Simmons and Missouri will be able to score points, especially at home. Almost did score twenty-eight last week in a road game So I think I think this one will be a higher scoring game. But to me, you know, you have the number one offensive coordinator in the country. This right now is the number one offense in the country. No one can stop them. If you're Missouri and you're gonna try to win this game, I think you just have to sell out against the run. Like you cannot let them beat you on the ground. Whatever you do, do not let them beat you on the ground. and just make Aaron Philo beat you with his arm. Not saying he can't do that, but you know they can beat you on the ground, so you may as well take that away and see if they can beat you somewhere else. So yeah, that's that's kinda my take on this. You just you can't let Florida run all over you like Ole Miss did. Davis: Yeah, and I think Missouri's run game defense is actually one of the strengths of this team. I I just got through talking about how good Mississippi State is at running the ball, and it was really through the air that Mississippi State had to win that game. Mississipp State only ran for a hundred and thirty nine yards, which isn't a low total, but given the talent that they have on on that team, it is lower than what state has been. Put up throughout the year. I I guess kind of when I was going through this, I was actually leaning Missouri, mainly because of that rush defense. They have a really good linebacker transfer from Auburn, Robert Woodyard. He's been tearing it up. but I think that the more that I dived into the numbers, the less confident I was in Missouri's offense. I know you look at the points per game numbers and it's pretty impressive. You look at the yards, and you know, they've been able to move the ball really well. They I guess went down early to Mississippi State, but after that had no problem scoring. But one thing that I kind of found which was interesting. So it all comes back to the point that I think that Missouri's offensive numbers may be a little inflated. The reason for that is because Missouri Jackson: Yeah. Davis: is scoring twenty-five percent of its points from points off turnovers. And I know that sounds like a good thing. They're forcing turnovers, they're scoring, they're capitalizing. That sounds great. but I think that because of that, they're kind of relying on the the fact that they are creating these turnovers. Florida doesn't turn the ball over. They've had th three turnovers in four games. So you're gonna make Missouri have to execute on a long field, they're not gonna get the ball on short field position. So I think that you're gonna make that Missouri offense earn it from the get go. And I I'm not convinced that they'll that they'll be able to do that. Jackson: Yeah, I mean one point to kinda help you, I guess if you're if you're thinking about going Missouri, Florida's pass defense ranks ninety-fourth nationally. they're coming off a b game obviously where they played Trinidad Chambless. He completed seventy three point five percent of his passes. Missouri hadn't been able to run the ball ball very well. They ran for three point four yards per carry against Mississippi, who has somewhat of a weaker front, so to me, if you're Missouri and you're on offense, you're just dropping back and and trying to rip it. I think that's how you keep up with this team. I think Austin Simmons can sling it. I I just don't think you're gonna be able to keep up with a team like Florida just dropping back and throwing the ball a hundred times, especially with how many points I think Florida's gonna score. I think you're first in this one. I'll go ahead and get mine out the way. I like Florida taking the points, just think it's too much. Davis: Yeah. I like Florida too. And Florida's gonna have like forty minutes of time of possession too. Jackson: Cool. Next game. Number four Miami goes to Clemson. sixteen and a half is the spread here. It's kinda kinda hard to believe that we are at this point with Clemson where you're playing a home game at night in prime time and you are sixteen and a half point dogs to a conference rival. I mean, it's just a good team against a bad team. Like Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Miami fifty two points a game, nine points per game allowed. I know it's early in the season. They haven't really played anyone very good yet, but still Clinton's looks pretty bad early on to start. This is kind of one of Davis: Terrible. Jackson: those games where if you're Dabo Sweeney and you don't put up a fight in this one, I think you're gonna kinda get some I don't want to say everyone's gonna throw in the towel, but if you get blown out at home to Miami, I think people are gonna s really start to question this team, whether it's the players, fans, staff, administration, you know, whoever. I I just think you gotta put up a fight in this one if you're dabbo. I know the numbers say otherwise. Tate Reynolds ranks in the bottom ten in EPA per drop back in the bottom fifteenth, and then passer efficiency. It's just not like it's it's not good if you're Clemson. They've tried two quarterbacks, neither one seemed to be able to get it going. Do you go back to Vizina in this one? Like I mean, I don't know. He had the one did they let him go a second game or was it just the L S U game and then they they pulled the plug? Davis: I think that Tate Reynolds' first start was against North Carolina. I don't know no, but Tate Reynolds did play against Georgia Southern. So I think that they they swapped him mid mid game there. Jackson: Yeah. Miami's weakness on defense is is they're secondary. So it's like You know, I just read the stats off about Clemson's quarterback. So i you know, if you're not able to take advantage of the one weakness that Miami has really on the whole team, then How can you really put up a fight in this game? another thing that's kind of hurt Clemson this year is they ranked 109th in defensive success rate this year, which is, you know, in years past, if your offense is struggling, especially for Clemson, they they've kind of been able to rely on that defense. But this year, that has not necessarily been the case. with that being said, the defense is a lot better than the offense is, but it's not that locked down, you know, nails Clemson defense that it's been. in the past with some of these Dabo teams. So Yeah. I I not much not much else to say. Clemson's offense ranks hundred and twentieth in points per game. I'm kind of doing the thing like I did last week where I'm I kick myself for for saying all these things about why Miami's gonna kill him and then I'm gonna take Clemson plus the points and I will give you the reason for that. Now, I think Clemson is going to run the ball as much as possible. I think they are going to shorten this game by doing that. I think they're gonna kill as much clock as possible because I think if you're Dabo, the only chance you have at winning this game is running the ball and limiting the amount of times that Darien Minsa has the ball in his hands. it's at night, it's a prime time game. I think it's kind of a do or die game for Clemson. Not necessarily to win, but just kinda to not get blown out. I think if you're Dabo, you're playing for a closer game. The spread indicates. So I'm gonna take Clemson here. Another thing that is a big factor for me in this game is the weather. there is some rain in the forecast, so I think if you're Clemson, you make this game a little bit ugly. you know, obviously water rain can do that. So I will I will take a chance and g and give Dabo one more shot at it. I will I'll take Clemson to cover sixteen and a half. I don't think they sniff a win in this one, but I think they're playing for A cover in if that makes any sense. So I'll take Limpson. Davis: Yeah. Yeah, I mean you went through everything, you had me convinced you're gonna take Miami and then Jackson: Sorry, I kinda I kinda ran I kinda rambled there, but I just read nothing the points. Davis: No, I I'm glad you did. I it was better than the analysis that I put into this game. I know sixteen and a half is a huge number. I I don't think that Clemson's gonna be able to score anywhere close to that to to to make it close. Darien Minsa, playing like the best quarterback in the nation, has more touchdowns than he does in completions. Malachi Tony, I thought that he might be slowed last week coming off of kind of getting banged up the week prior. He wasn't. He played the full game. So Obviously no limitations there. Yeah, I don't I don't think Clemson can stop this Miami attack. And I and I know that Clemson's defen or I know that Clemson's offense isn't good enough to score well enough to to keep it close either. So I'm Jackson: Yeah. Davis: this is one of the things where I know that the spread is pretty large, but I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the Jackson: probably smart. Davis: favorite either either way. Jackson: It's it's probably smart. I mean if I'm like thinking about it logistically, I think Clemson can maybe get to seventeen twenty. Which if they get to twenty, that would be very good. So twenty would put Miami needing to get thirty seven, which is definitely I guess that's that is actually the the projected score over on just forty seven. So yeah, we'll see. I I'm probably gonna be kicking myself for taking Clemson in this one, but I'll ride with with my guy Dabbo one more time. Davis: So I just did some quick math and looked at Clemson's games and in three games they have nine touchdowns. Darien Metzah by himself has fourteen passing touchdowns. Just thought that was interesting. They scored one they scored one Jackson: Yeah, it doesn't make sense, Davis. I know. I know it doesn't make sense. Davis: touchdown against Georgia Southern. Jackson: I know, I know, I know I took them in that game. Davis: One touchdown against Georgia Southern. Jackson: I took them to cover that game. I on this podcast. I I know. It's it's not smart, but you know, sometimes you just have to go with your gut, not your brain. So I'm going with my gut. I think Clemson, I think they cover. It doesn't make any Davis: Did you take Jackson: sense. I think they're gonna score a lot of points, and I just gave you all the reasons why I thought Miami would smoke them, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: but my gut's just telling me go with Clemson. Davis: Did you take LSU or Clemson week one? Jackson: LCU, you took lumps. Davis: Yeah, yeah. Okay. No, I knew I took Clemson. I didn't know if you were like just riding with Clemson blindly throughout the year. Jackson: No, no, no. I took them in that one Georgia Southern game where the spread was like l lower than I thought it should be and they didn't cover. Davis: Yeah. I picked against Miami last week, so picking picking with them this week. Jackson: All right, Washington coming off a bad, bad, bad loss against Minnesota at home. USC also coming off of a loss against Oregon, forty one twenty seven. Line is USC minus nine and a half here over under set at fifty eight and a half. What you got, Davis? Davis: Yeah. Washington's offense has been one of the bigger disappointments of the year. they have not been able to run the ball whatsoever, averaging a hundred and seven rush yards per game. I think a lot of that was driven from non power or non FPS teams as well. so really the burden has been on Damon Williams. And he's played fine, but he hasn't really taken that next step that that we would have thought either. So Michig or Washington's three and one, they could easily be two and two, one and three. They've had some close wins. So I have not been impressed Jackson: Yeah, they're gonna have. Davis: with Washington. But maybe it's a get right game for that offense. I know that we said that. Yeah. Jackson: I was gonna say, I was gonna come in hot with that. If if if there's ever a time to to have a get right game, you see USC next on your schedule. It's a big game against a poor defense. ma maybe this is this is the game to turn things around. so but you're right, it it's been atrocious. Davis: Yeah. And and and to make matters worse, you have US C starting linebacker, Desmond Stevens out for the first half based on that late hit to Dante Moore. So we'll be reduced defense on top of that too. Jackson: Wow. He's not even suspended the whole game. I mean I know the targeting thing. Davis: he is yeah, he is suspended the whole game. I take that back. Yeah. Jackson: Yeah, yeah, they did. He Lincoln Riley, I think, did it. I think he like, you know, imposed the suspension like in house. I don't think Davis: Yeah, you're right. Jackson: it was an NCAA thing. But yeah. Like you said, Washington's offense is definitely the issue here. The their like the rush yards per game I think is yeah, one seven. It's right there. ranks hundred and twenty fourth in the country. Passing is not is not great either. The average two eighty nine passing, so Hopefully they Davis: Yeah. Jackson: get right against US C. I mean, I think it's it's definitely a game. I think US C is maybe in a letdown spot. You know, you blow one of your biggest games of the year, if you're Lincoln Riley, to a backup quarterback that, you know, it's kinda like we talked about on the on the recap show. Alright, ran into another technical difficulty. The freaking software thing did it again, so I will pick up where we left off on the I know Macy's computer is a lot better Davis: Did you look clear, Jackson? Jackson: than mine. This is kinda nice. I'm gonna start recording on her computer. I feel like I'm like professional. Davis: I didn't even realize those were Bama jerseys behind you until just now. Jackson: Yeah, dude, they look pretty good, don't they? anyways, if you're Lincoln Riley, it's kind of tough losing, like you did against Oregon. Washington's offense, I don't even remember what we've said, but Washington's offense is is is is struggled. but if you're ever gonna get right, I think it's against USC. I think it's now. It's a big game, it's one of their biggest winnable games of the year, in my opinion. I don't think Washington is gonna win this game, but I do like them to cover. So give me Washington plus the ten and a half or nine and a half. Davis: Yeah, I guess Jackson revealed my pick. But I don't I don't have a I don't have a strong lean here either way. Washington is actually and four against the spread and USC's one and four. So one of those trends has to break nine and a half. If if it was ten and a half, Jackson: Yeah. Davis: I'd probably take with the Washington side. We'll we'll s we'll see how much of a get right game it is for Washington's offense. I don't I don't know if they can can hang with them. I guess just give me US C plus nine or minus nine and a half, but I don't feel great about this one. Jackson: Yeah, I I don't really either. It's to me it's i honestly kind of a vibes thing. not really going Davis: Yeah. It is Washington's first game on the road the entire season though. Jackson: You got a veteran quarterback though. So to me I know, you know Davis: Yeah. No one goes to those games anyways. Jackson: Yeah, it's true. for what it's worth, S P plus projects USC minus eight and a half or eight sorry, minus eight point two. So you get a slight edge there with minus or the plus nine and a half. So I'll I'll go Washington. I'm with you though. I don't feel great about this one. Alright, next game, Auburn coming off a win. First home win in ages against sorry. First home win versus the SEC team in a while. Davis: Yeah yeah. Jackson: They get the win against Fandy. Tennessee comes off a close loss on the scoreboard to Texas. That game was not as close as the score reads. Tennessee opens as a seven-point favorite over-under set at 54 and a half. And I will let Mr. Auburn man go on his rant, Davis, take it away. Davis: So we saw what Tennessee's offense looked against a really good defense last week. Tennessee gave up ten sacks to Texas, five of those being to Colin Simmons. And I wouldn't even say most of those sacks were on the O line. Faison Brandon struggled with holding on to the ball too long, kinda scrambled when he didn't need to, tried to extend plays instead of getting rid of the ball. So that was that was the biggest kind of issue I saw with Tennessee's defense or Tennessee's offense. However, Tennessee's defense was pretty impressive. their defensive tackle, Xavier Gilliam, was an absolute game wrecker against Texas last week. he is seventh in the league in tackles for loss. And I know I've just kind of gone through this whole recap rant about Texas versus Tennessee, but I think it does apply to this Auburn, Tennessee matchup. One thing that Auburn has struggled with is on their O-line. They're giving up the fourth most sacks in the P4 per game. Got a little better last week, only only took one sack against Vanderbilt, but that is an area that, Auburn's O line as well as their quarterback struggles with. Tennessee is second in the power four and sacks. So that's one area of concern is how is Auburn's O line gonna hold up against Tennessee? I don't feel great about that. But I think that is where the really the score will be felt here. Jackson: Yeah, so to me you see the passing yards per game that Tennessee averages at one ninety seven. obviously that number is skewed a little bit by the Texas game last week, but with that being said, I think this is the game where things are gonna really open up for Faison Brandon. Auburn's pass defense allows two hundred and thirty eight point eight yards per game. that ranks a hundred and seventieth in the nation. I just think it's a matchup that it's it's a it's a defense that matches up well for Faison Brandon. I think it's the game where he's gonna really you know let it rip. you're coming off a loss, a team where you played a really good defense, Auburn on the other hand, you know, the defense isn't terrible. The game against Florida I think can be excused now given what they just did to Ole Miss, but it's a more gettable defense if if you're the Vols. So I think they air it out. I think they score some points and I think Tennessee gets it done this week. Davis: Yeah, I think this'll actually be a low scoring game. I think Auburn's defense actually matches up pretty well with Tennessee's offense. one thing that Texas was able to do that really gave face on Brandon problems is they'd they'd show different looks. Sometimes they'd blitz five, sometimes they'd actually leave Colin Simmons as like a spy because they'd know that Faison Brandon would kind of get happy feet and scramble out, which is what he did, and is how Colin Simmons actually accumulated a couple of his sacks. That's something that Auburn actually does a lot with Xavier Atkins, their all-American linebacker. I believe that he is top five in tackles for loss. He plays off-ball linebacker, but they blitz him a lot. I think that Auburn's defense will be able to. Kind of contain Tennessee's offense, but I just have no faith in Auburn's offense against that defense. I think that. Auburn really hadn't been up been able to run the ball, which is unfortunate. And Byron Brown has had a tendency to turn the ball over. I think that that could really be the difference in the game here, especially given that he's gonna be under a lot of duress early. I don't wanna do it, but I think that Tennessee covers the seven, especially with it being a home game. Jackson: Yeah, I I guess I wanna walk back what I said about Faison Brandon. I I don't think he's just gonna throw it all over the field on Auburn, but I think with Tennessee's rushing attack, I think that's gonna open up a lot of these windows for him to throw the ball. so I think that's kind of where they're gonna get their points. I think they're gonna be able to run the ball decently well and I think that's gonna open up a lot on the back end for Faison Brandon and he'll be able to exploit the weakness of the Auburn defense, which is secondary. So I'm with you though. I think it's a lower scoring game. I don't see Auburn's offense having a lot of success. do you think the coaching, like the familiarity with Josh Heipel and Alex Gullish has anything to do with I mean, obviously it has something to do with the game, but how do you think that impacts this game? Like what do you think is the is the main area? Like you think they'll be able to stop each other's offenses easier because they're so familiar with them or How do you think how do you think that plays out? Davis: I think there's definitely a narrative factor Jackson: Yeah. Davis: people love to talk about you know, Gullish really wants to win this one, so they're gonna try harder. I try not to buy into any of those things. If if you need a any extra motivation for an SEC game, then you're probably playing the wrong sport. So I I don't really buy into these narratives that the team is gonna play harder. I hope that 'cause To me, that kind of implies that a team's not playing as hard in other instances, which is the case sometimes, but for an SEC game the season is not lost, then no, I'm not buying into that. Jackson: I agree. Davis: when it comes to who has the like schematical advantage. I I kind of go back and forth. I can see it both ways, which honestly kind of leads me to I don't think either one of them have the schematical advantage. Jackson: Let me get it Davis: Hypel's offense has kind of changed a little bit in the last few years. He's he's using a lot of two tight end sets, kind of slowing it down, which is new compared to what Tennessee used to do three, four years ago when Golish was the OC. Jackson: Yeah. Davis: Auburn, however, is running at the quickest pace in college football. something that does look more like Tennessee's offense from a few years ago. So maybe that means that Hypel and Tennessee have the advantage because Golish is still running that offense that he ran from a few years ago, and Hypel has kind of reinvented himself a little bit. So I guess to answer your question, no, I don't really think that there's a clear advantage, but if you made me choose, I'd probably go the hypal side. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, I I think I think I would agree with that. Davis: I hope I'm wrong. I for what it's worth, I am one and three for Auburn games against the spread. So I think last season I had a really good pulse on how Auburn would do against the spread. And I know that we didn't do a podcast, so it's just completely on whether or not you believe me. But I think I I think I was I think I was 11 and 1 against the spread for Auburn last year. So had Jackson: Wow. Davis: a pretty had a pretty good feel. This year, it's been the opposite. Hopefully that trend continues. I would love to be wrong about this, but I I think I I think if I had to give a score prediction, I'd say twenty one thirteen. Jackson: Wow. You think it's allowed scoring? You Davis: I do think it's that low sworn. Jackson: think Auburn holds them to twenty one points at home? Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I'm gonna go twenty seven seventeen. That's my that's my score prediction. I think Tennessee's able to get it going a little more home. I think, you know, to me it's it's a kind of a must win game for Tennessee. And it's a you know, if if you win this game and you're Auburn, you kinda turn not that things are going off the rails. I mean you have one loss you know, to a very good team, but it is a big pick me up if you can steal this game on the road if you're Auburn, so and if you're Tennessee it's one that you can't really afford to lose at home. so interesting dynamic in the game here. Davis: I thought about making the under one of my plays of the week here. Jackson: We're both I guess our score predictions are both pretty heavily leaning under. Davis: But Yeah. Given given the fact that I have been all Jackson: I guess my I'm right on it. Sorry, I had to correct my math there so people don't flame me in the comments. Thirty seven seventeen, that's Davis: Fifty four. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, it's fifty four. I'm barely under. Wow. I'm right on it with these with these over unders. Davis: God, thirty seven, seventeen? Or Jackson: No, twenty seven, seventeen. Davis: yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. Twenty seven seventeen is fifty four, yeah. That that's probably what the implied Jackson: Yeah, no, it is. Hundred percent. I did the same thing with the other one. I didn't even mean to. The other game, I don't remember which one it was, one of the ones we we did a minute ago, but Davis: Yeah, twenty four thirteen that's pretty damn low. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah. That's pretty low. So that's Iowa game low. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: but all right, we'll move on. All right, just a little bit of review. I'll run through them all real quick. we're both on Bama minus five and a half. Davis is on Iowa plus thirteen and a half. I'm taking Ohio State. did you switch? Davis: I I I ended up taking Ohio State. I switched it on I switched it on the graphic that we had earlier, but I didn't switch it on here. Jackson: Okay. All right. Davis and I are both on Ohio State minus thirteen and a half. G Davis with another switcheroo. sorry graphics guy. Davis messing with your head again. we're both on Florida. Davis is taking Miami. I am for some reason taking Clemson plus sixteen and a half. Davis on USC, minus nine and a half. I am on Washington plus nine and a half. And we're both on Tennessee, minus seven. Davis with a little bit better week last week. Both got some improving to do, so we'll leave it at that and we'll move on. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Alright. Plays of the week. You first? Davis: Yep. So for my first play of the week I have UCF plus twelve and a half over Houston. this was a line that I was surprised by. I thought it would be a little closer to a touchdown, ten points. So immediately kinda caught my eye here, started diving into the numbers a little bit and only confirmed my my pick even more. so UCF is actually three and one. against the spread on the air. Houston is and two against the spread, as a double digit favorite. and I think Houston's defense is one of the more susceptible teams, especially in the second half. So maybe if this doesn't cover immediately, Jackson: You know what? Davis: I think that you could be looking at a backdoor cover here as well. Houston is actually being outscored 41 to 37 in the second half. So they've been able to jump out to early leads, but kind of taken their foot off the gas pedal around halftime. So think that think that the line's a little too much as is. I don't think that they're giving UCF enough credit, but factoring in the the backdoor cover aspect of it, I like it even more. Jackson: All right. My first play of the week is North Carolina plus twenty one and a half. I don't think North Carolina is as bad as maybe this line is implying they are. I know Notre Dame's a good team. I think Notre Dame struggled a little bit more, on the other hand, than maybe some of these scores have been reading. You know, they get Wisconsin the first game of the year, they blow out, but I think that game was a lot closer than the score was. I mean Wisconsin was close in that game. Notre Dame kinda turned it up late and and ended up blowing him out. But I'm not out on North Carolina yet. Especially I think they get a bye this week. It's an eleven AM kick. You get him at home. I don't know. I like Bill Bill Belichick coming off a bye w in his biggest game of the year, I guess. Or I guess playing his best team of the year. So I'll take them to cover three touchdowns at home against Notre Dame. All right, my next pick, Louisville minus three against NC State. little bit of a overreaction to me. I think Louisville is a much better team than NC State is. This is a team that took you know Ole Miss to the wire. They beat SMU at home. And, you know, you have the slip up game last week, but I really think that was just a letdown spot. I think Jeff Braun will have his guys ready, and I think they will easily cover three points playing an NC State team that we have all seen not look very good. So far this season. Davis: Yeah, I like that one a lot actually. Alright, for my next pick, I have two service academies playing against each other and I like the over here. Jackson. Jackson: Crazy, crazy, crazy. Davis: What's the what's the under record with Service Academy games? Can you hit me with that? Jackson: Yes, I can because I texted it to you earlier when you sent this pick. The under in Service Academy games is forty seven, fourteen, and one. And Davis: Woo! Jackson: you were going with the over. Bold man there, Davis. Davis: Going with the over. Jackson: That is interesting. Interesting take, but you know, let's hear Davis: So as y'all Jackson: it. Davis: as y'all might know, there's definitely a narrative around, you know, take the under in Service Academy games. It's, it's a guaranteed hit. Take the under. Everyone's heard it, everyone bets it. There's a reason that this number is as low as it is, and it's not because of the the teams. You you you take away n the name Navy and the name Air Force away. This game is probably sitting at a over under of 56. The fact that you now call it a Service Academy game, it the total drops by so much just because of the narrative around the game. so I know that you said it's forty seven sorry, forty seven, fourteen and one the under. But if you go back to twenty twenty four, the under is two and four. So that means that the over is four and two. And 2024 is a right around the time where Navy, Army, Air Force started to get away from, you know, the traditional triple option. They still run the triple option, but it's more like spread, explosive, p play-based. so I think that you have two teams that are no longer, you know. the slow methodical triple option teams that is usually associated with them. You have the narrative that's driving this number down. And then you actually have the recent trend that the over has hit four out of the last six times in recent years. So I know I didn't talk about anything that had to do with like the football schematics with these two teams and it was more so just betting history, Jackson: Yeah. Davis: but I do have some like team dependent stats as well. So this game, Navy Air Force actually went for 65 points last year. So Jackson: It's funny. Davis: that would be nice if that hit. against G six opponents, Air Force is scoring 34 points per game. And allowing 35 and a half points per game. And so that's against North Dakota State and Nevada. Jackson: Mm-hmm. Davis: And then you go to Navy against G6 opponents, UAB and FAU. Navy is scoring 25 points per game and allowing 50 points per game. So these defenses are not good. These offenses are good. The over-under is 46 and a half, or sorry, 46. And the only reason that this number is as low as as it is is because people bet the under just because it's a Service Academy game. So I'm fading all that. Give me the over. I know that was a very long rant, but I'm I'm pretty confident I'm pretty confident about this. Jackson: I was a ramp, but hey, you got you gotta explain yourself. You gotta explain yourself. So all right, what you got next? Davis: I like UMass minus four. I think UMass is really good. I think they're a lot better at Eastern Michigan. I'll keep it simple. Jackson: Alright. My next one, I'm going with North Dakota State minus 18 against Wyoming. So Wyoming has one of the worst offenses in the country. They rank 132nd in scoring at 17.8 points per game and 120th in total yardage. their quarterback, Tyler Hughes, has struggled big time. He has thrown five interceptions and just two touchdowns. And North North Dakota State is playing at home in the Fargo Dome, so give me North Dakota State. I think this line should be more like twenty one and a half. So I think eighteen should not be a problem. I'll take them to cover. all right. Upset check. Both got the covered last week. We did not hit one outright, but both covered. So what you got this week? Davis: I think you're actually up first in this one. Jackson: all right. I'll take Arkansas. We've talked about AM. they don't look good. I know, like I don't wanna bring up all these teams like quitting this early in the season. It's it's too early, but it's gotta be a little bit demoralizing. losing to Kentucky at home and then just getting the brakes blown off you at LSU last week. Arkansas's got an explosive offense. Is funny as that may sound, I know they didn't put up much of a fight against Utah, but they did, you know, beat a Tulsa team that that beat Oklahoma State, who, you know, obviously upset Oregon. So I think there's value in Arkansas here. I don't think they're gonna win, but at plus four seventy, fourteen and a half point spread, I will take a flyer on that. So like give me Arkansas to be A and this weekend. Davis: I'll take UCF plus twelve and a half as my upset check. I know that I had them as my play, felt pretty confident. I don't know if they'll win, but I do like them to cover, so Jackson: You're doubling down on Davis: I'm doubling down. Yeah, doubling down. Hopefully I can get some points here. Jackson: All right. Davis: If not, I'm missing I'm missing twice. I I wouldn't feel great. Jackson: Davis is riding high on on UCF. All right. Alright, here's a little recap last week, not much to be said. Dante Moore went down. Obviously we know what happened there. Jeremiah Smith gets fifty seven point seven points for Davis and that could basically beat my whole team. So let's move Davis: Yeah. Jackson: on to week five. Davis: Alright, this is our weekly fantasy game. The rules are we get to select one player at each of the positions. Once we draft that player for that week, we can't take them the rest of the season. You can only get one player per team per week. like Jackson said, two and two record. So I won last week, I will get the first pick. I will go ahead and lock my tight end position down and I'll take Jalil Skinner from Louisville. put up 482 and one last week against Wake Forest. We've already taken the good the like the heavy producing tight end, so if I can get that, I will be ecstatic. Jackson: Alright, for my per first pick I'll take quarterback Kevin Jennings at a SMU. I think it's the right week to take them. I know it's a higher point spread, but I I think they'll you know, I think they'll put up a lot early. So give me Kevin Jennings. Davis: Yeah. Your next pick. Jackson: I'm next. All Davis: Yeah. Jackson: right. Isaac Brown, Louisville. I think going on the road, like you said, rushing attacks travel well. So I will I'll take him going on the road to play NC State. I think it's a weaker defense and I will use Davis: You might have taken the wrong Brown running back from Louisville. This Keywan Brown's been getting a lot of carries recently. Jackson: give me asking. Okay. Davis: All right, for my pick, I will take Caden Lee, wide receiver, Missouri, Ninth in the college football and receiving yards and put up eleven, one fifty six and two against Mississippi State last week. This this game against Florida should be a high scoring game as well. Alright, and then my next pick I will take running back Cam Cook from West Virginia playing Iowa State. Cam Cook leads the league in carries and is in and fifth in yards. And that off that West Virginia offense is a very heavy running team between him and Michael Hawkins. Jackson: I get two pigs here. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: All right. My first pick or sorry for my next pick, I'm gonna go Patrick Overmeyer, tight end out of Houston. You know how I get my tight ends? It was the next guy up, Jad GPT, shout out. Been pretty good for me so far, so I'd like him to have a big week this week. Come on, man. Come on, Patrick. Davis: Luke Reynolds let me down last week. I think he only put up like four points. Jackson: No, we did let you down. I used up all Luke Reynolds points. and then my next pick, I'm going to go Desmond Robuck out of Washington. They play USC this week. I've kind of been on the train of picking opposing offensive players that play USC. So I'll take him. We had seven catches last week for I think like almost a hundred yards, so let's let's we'll give him a chance. Davis: Alright. I will take My running back. I guess it's my flex position now. I'll take Jaden Baugh. Don't need to say much. Best running back in the nation. Jackson: All right, for my last Davis: And Jackson: pick. go ahead. You got one more? Davis: Yeah, but it's quarterback. So I'll take Lincoln Keenholz. did I already take him? Jackson: Already took him. I think you did take him. Davis: That really? Jackson: I don't really remember that, but I kinda maybe do. Davis: Okay. you can go ahead and and I'll take it somebody. Jackson: All right. For my last pick I will take Cameron Dickey, running back, Texas Tech as my flex. Davis: All right, for my quarterback, I'm gonna hedge my bet on the US C game Jackson: Mm. Davis: and I'll take Damon Williams. Jackson: All right. Davis: Alright, so I guess to recap it, I have Damon Williams against USC, Cam Cook, West Virginia's running back against Iowa State, Caden Lee, wide receiver Missouri against Florida, Louisville's tight end, Jalil Skinner against NC State, and then Jaden Baugh against Missouri. Jackson: All right, I this messed up on the screen because Davis put it in wrong, but my quarterback is Kevin Jennings SMU. Running back is Isaac Brown, Louisville. My receiver is Desmond Robuck out of Washington. My tight end is Patrick Overmeyer out of Houston. And my flex is Cameron Dickey, who is not listed. Running back, Texas Tech, that is my flex. Davis: All right. Are we doing Jackson: Yeah. You ready for mic drop? Davis: Yep. You wanna I got mine, but I can start it or you can start it. Jackson: You can go. I got mine too. We're both prepared. I like that. Go for Davis: All right. You got it on the first guest last time. I'm gonna have to make the first hand a little harder. Hand number one, I was drafted in both the NFL and MLB. Jackson: Jameis Watson. Davis: All right, hint number two. My first name is Arthur, but I don't go by it. My last name is also a color. Jackson: Ronnie Brown. Davis: Right. I grew up in Starkville, but chose to play college football for their biggest rival. Jackson: So we got a old Miss Guy, last name is a color, and it was drafted in the L B and the NFL draft, right? Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Grew up in Starkville. Oof, I don't know. Now you got me thinking about a color a guy that's last name is a color for all of this that I can guess. It's a hard one to pin on me because now I'm think I gotta have one of these guesses or I'm gonna sound dumb. Davis: Yeah. I mean none of these have anything to do with like him being good or not at football so far. There's been no awards, no stats, Jackson: Yeah, I know. I mean like much of anything. Davis: no nothing. Jackson: Jake Red. All right, next hit. Davis: I've never heard of that guy before. Jackson: Next hit. Davis: I finished my college career as a two time all SEC wide receiver. Jackson: AJ Brown. Davis: Yeah, there you go. Arthur Juan Jackson: Dude, I can't believe Davis: Brown. Jackson: I can't believe I didn't get it. I mean I can believe I didn't get it, but I said Ronnie Brown. I was I had the Brown right. Davis: Yeah, when you when you said Ronnie Brown, Jackson: Okay. Davis: I was like, he's gonna get it on this next one since like Brown is Jackson: Yeah. Davis: in his mind. Jackson: I didn't know he was a Starkful guy. Huh. Interesting. Alright, my f my my like hints are a little easier than yours, I think. Davis: I had the MLB theme, shout out college or sorry, shout out playoff starting. How are the Yankees doing right now? You b you checked the screen yet? Jackson: They're winning nine to two and my Davis: wow. Jackson: gosh. Nine to four now. yeah, let's go. Two outs away. Let's go. Let's go. Davis: Not eight thinning. Night thinning. Jackson: Ninth inning. Yep. Alright, here we go. I finished my high school career with one hundred and nine total touchdowns. Davis: There, can we? I think he finished with like 250 or something like that. Jackson: I once scored five rushing touchdown in one game against an SEC opponent. Davis: Solar Russian does chance. Is it Leonard Fournette against Auburn? Jackson: In my prime year in college, I led the SEC in rushing yards per game, scoring per game and all purpose yards per game. This is in the last ten years. Pretty two good hunts, that's last ten years. Davis: Yeah, I'm I'm shocked that it's not Derrick Henry or Leonard Fournette. I don't think it's Mark Ingram. I don't Jackson: I'll give you another I'll give you another hint, but I won't give you the year. Kind of the I mean, it's kind of a No, no, no. It's it's kind of a given Davis: No, you're fine. You know how I I should I should Jackson: to go along with the last hint. I was named SEC offensive player of the year in that same year. same year that all he had all those you know big numbers. He was named SEC off in the player of the year. Davis: Yeah. Why can't I think of it? Jackson: Dum when you want another one. Davis: I like nothing's even my mind's freaking stuck on Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette for some reason. Jackson: You wanna guess? You mean give me another hint? My I'm kinda spraying the board with these hands here. So the next one's kind of Davis: No SCC off of the boy. I know that if anybody's listening to this is probably like sc screaming at me 'cause I Jackson: No, I don't think so actually. Davis: Is it Trey Mason? He scored five touchdowns against Missouri. Jackson: He did. Davis: I don't know if he was off at some Yeah, I mean yeah, I yeah, I guess so. Jackson: You want another hint? Well, this is not the I'll give you a double hint. This person also scored the five touchdowns against Missouri. But my next hint was going to be I earned V P honors in the Alabama Mississippi All Star game. Obviously the high school all star game. Davis: Yeah. It's like Carry On Johnson, is it? I don't know. Jackson: It is Carry On Johnson. feel like when you read off all these stats, your mind goes to like, you know, guys like Derrick Henry, these huge name guys that had successful Davis: Yeah. Jackson: NFL careers. I guess because he, you know, his I guess he kind of got Well Davis: He didn't have much of an NFL career. Jackson: he had the he caught the injury bug a decent bit there. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: unfortunate. But yeah, I mean he tore it up at Auburn. Tore up Bama Davis: Yeah. Jackson: for sure. But Davis: I mean, dude, we ran him to the ground that one year. We probably had Jackson: Yeah. Davis: had I wanna look it up. What so what game did he have you said against Missouri? Jackson: Yeah. Let me see. Yeah. I scored five rushing Davis: I don't even remember that for some reason. Jackson: touchdowns in one game against Missouri. Davis: Shut up. Carry on. Jackson: Yeah, and your gimme hint was gonna be a Madison Academy. Davis: that out of the yeah. Jackson: Yeah. I was trying to give you as many of these 'cause like I said I asked for like ten or twelve. I just kinda pick and choose the ones I want to give you. so I kinda like went all over the place with your hands 'cause I didn't want to give you a gimme one 'cause I knew you could get it, so Davis: Yeah. Jackson: But anyways. Davis: It was only the the second Auburn running back that I guessed. Jackson: I know, I know. You were close, you were close, but all right. Davis: God, the I I mean that was the last time Auburn was any good, twenty nineteen. no, he wouldn't even twenty seventeen, yeah. Jackson: twenty seventeen. Davis: And that was when we knocked off number one Georgia, and then two weeks later knocked off number one Bama, and then I mean we got destroyed against Georgia in the SCC championship. Jackson: And then number one Bama. I mean, and then Georgia and Bama played in the national title on Bama one. So quite a unfortunate unfortunate year for Auburn, kinda. Davis: I know, that was brutal. We beat both those teams and then it was like going into the national championship. It's like, all right, one of the one of our biggest rivals is gonna win the natty. It's like, dude, we we beat both of these teams. Yeah. It Jackson: Yeah, it's tough. But Davis: was a fun year though. We played Carry on My Wayward Son like af after every touchdown. Great song. Jackson: Anything else? Davis: Nope. Should be a fun weekend of college football. Another weekend of no weddings and nothing to do other than sitting on my couch with as many screens as I can put up, so it's always gonna always a good time. Jackson: Always fun time. college football season. So all right. That'll do it. See ya. Davis: Yeah.
