- 0:00Speaker 1: So I'm Kyle singer guitarists from Barriers, and yeah we'll
- 0:04Speaker 1: be playing at Necrosotic.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Fantastic mate, thanks to join us today.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Norri, thanks having me my pleasure.
- 0:10Speaker 3: So Dave Barry's return to Bridgmane on August the twenty
- 0:13Speaker 3: second as part of Necrosonic Festival at the Mansfield Tavern.
- 0:16Speaker 2: So youah pupped and ready for.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Action, I think. So I think we're good to go,
- 0:20Speaker 1: pretty keen. That's going to be our first trip up there.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So yeah, I came to see what Brizzie's got for us.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Right, Joe, did I read rom Man? I thought you
- 0:29Speaker 2: played a Necrosotic in twenty twenty four.
- 0:31Speaker 1: No, no, we're we're pretty fresh. So we started twenty
- 0:36Speaker 1: twenty four, yeah, and just yeah, it's sort of slowly
- 0:40Speaker 1: been ramping things up as we go.
- 0:42Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 3: No, she's a massive writer brow including bands by the
- 0:47Speaker 3: Rivers of Niles, Psychopic, Berserki, Dream Pills and plenty more mates.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So who's on your bucket list to see.
- 0:53Speaker 1: All of the above? Berserker obviously, you know I remember
- 0:58Speaker 1: seeing them fresh out of high school in Adelaide and
- 1:01Speaker 1: that was one of my intros to sort of I
- 1:04Speaker 1: guess the more extreme middle in Australia, which is pretty
- 1:08Speaker 1: awesome to see them back at it and the same
- 1:10Speaker 1: psych croptic you know, Legends of Australia really and then
- 1:15Speaker 1: there has a few others like Growth from Melbourne. We
- 1:18Speaker 1: played them for their album launch. Yeah, sort of progressive
- 1:23Speaker 1: post metal. Yeah, really really talented band. So I can't
- 1:27Speaker 1: see them again.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Well it's weird because it's a diverse lineup, but
- 1:31Speaker 3: it's all full on metal, which is which is strange.
- 1:34Speaker 2: But where do you see barriers spinning in on the day?
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a tough one. We're one of those bands.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I think everyone that listens to us here's something different.
- 1:42Speaker 1: You know, We've got a few different elements without really
- 1:45Speaker 1: dwelling on ones. So yeah heavy, it's bits of sludge,
- 1:49Speaker 1: bits of you know, droney sort of stuff, and bits
- 1:53Speaker 1: of melodies. So I really got a bit of an
- 1:56Speaker 1: expanse genre. I guess I don't know how to summit
- 2:01Speaker 1: down to one.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Over the day, man, there's over thirty bands cross three stages.
- 2:07Speaker 2: There's a lot of music coming at you.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So what's your battle plan to make sure people remember
- 2:12Speaker 3: seeing barriers on the day?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so.
- 2:19Speaker 3: That is a good question.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, I think our stuff is pretty easy.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Just if you'd never heard the song before, you can
- 2:28Speaker 1: get what's going on. There's nothing too crazy, you know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's just heavy. It's just heavy, And I think I
- 2:36Speaker 1: think you can listen to our stuff without knowing it
- 2:38Speaker 1: and go, oh yeah, there's something Hopefully, hopefully people can
- 2:42Speaker 1: can catch on to it quickly.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Along those lines to say someone has come along and
- 2:46Speaker 3: they've never heard of Barriers before, Like, what three songs
- 2:48Speaker 3: should they listen to in order to get to.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Know the band to be better?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Probably our latest release, blood Bound. It's kind of where
- 2:55Speaker 1: things are heading. Slow, heavy, droney, probably consumed off our
- 3:03Speaker 1: first release, similar vibes, sort of stums up everything we're doing.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And then yeah, take your pick from there.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I reckon, Yeah, running through a Chiep a Goil Barrier's
- 3:14Speaker 3: live show.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Then what we can expect sin since your first time
- 3:16Speaker 2: up here.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we're a four piece, so I'll play and sing,
- 3:22Speaker 1: so not nothing too frantic as a front man, just
- 3:26Speaker 1: we'll stand the front. Keep it heavy, keep it simple,
- 3:30Speaker 1: loud drums, heavy drums, simple guitars, and yeah, a bit
- 3:35Speaker 1: of catchy melody here and there.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Sight now in the series of Q and as we
- 3:40Speaker 3: sent out your bands about the Prophonice, we asked the
- 3:42Speaker 3: question of what band you think we'll get up to
- 3:44Speaker 3: most mischief on the day, and your answers are most interesting? Right,
- 3:49Speaker 3: met Leopard because rumor has it their drummer is half man,
- 3:52Speaker 3: half beast.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Now there's got to be a good backstory there.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Kieran. Kieran's been around Adelaide for a long time. He's
- 3:59Speaker 1: he's interesting, interesting man, and I've seen him very late
- 4:03Speaker 1: at night on mady occasions, kind of understanding what he's saying,
- 4:08Speaker 1: kind of not and he's always always leads for a
- 4:10Speaker 1: fun day. I always enjoy being around him, so I
- 4:12Speaker 1: can't wait to see what he gets up to after
- 4:13Speaker 1: this set.
- 4:15Speaker 2: That's a great band name it.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Is you mentioned before, but you released your latest single,
- 4:24Speaker 3: blood Bound back in May.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So how has the earlier reception been for it?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been really good so far. I think it
- 4:33Speaker 1: kind of it's a bit more refined than our earlier stuff.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Decay was kind of us, you know, we hadn't been
- 4:38Speaker 1: in bands for a long time, so it was us
- 4:40Speaker 1: kind of remembering how to write songs. I guess you
- 4:43Speaker 1: could say, and just sort of finding what sounds suited us,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and I think that kind of helped us narrow down
- 4:49Speaker 1: to what we want to be as a band. So
- 4:51Speaker 1: Bloodbound kind of really sums it up, I think. And
- 4:55Speaker 1: also we're self produced, so for me, it was getting
- 4:58Speaker 1: back on the knobs and around a bit, learning what
- 5:01Speaker 1: I like to do with my mixing, and it's kind
- 5:04Speaker 1: of found I think, a sound that really suits us.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I think, so hopefully people think the same.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Nice and she is stand alone single mate or part
- 5:10Speaker 2: of a bigger album picture.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's it's working up to an album. So we're actually
- 5:14Speaker 1: going to release another song just before Necrosonic, probably the
- 5:19Speaker 1: week before at this stage, and then yeah, just keep
- 5:21Speaker 1: keep chugging at it from there and hopefully have some,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you know, something full length to release maybe next year.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Seere we go, no no set in stone.
- 5:29Speaker 2: No promises.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You do. I know, like Banders has made up of
- 5:35Speaker 3: some members of some pretty popular band from a round
- 5:37Speaker 3: and seeing members of.
- 5:39Speaker 2: In portrayed Day of Champ, Prime Murder, Truth Creative.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So when you came together, like did you try and
- 5:45Speaker 3: bring a little bit from every one of those bands
- 5:48Speaker 3: into it or did you sort of want to start
- 5:49Speaker 3: with the clean.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Slate, I'd say clean slate.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So yeah, like I said, we none of us beat
- 5:57Speaker 1: in bands for a long time chapter of our lives,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and I thought we I think we all sort of
- 6:02Speaker 1: came in with the idea of let's do something we
- 6:04Speaker 1: haven't done, so sort of separating more from the hardcore melodics,
- 6:10Speaker 1: metal core side that we've probably been in the past,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and more towards just the heavy metal side because we've
- 6:16Speaker 1: all been fans of that genres, you know, those genres
- 6:19Speaker 1: for a long time, so it's good to just really
- 6:21Speaker 1: get into it and have that as the ident entity.
- 6:25Speaker 1: So yeah, it's been a fun, fun process. I think
- 6:28Speaker 1: the easiest bound I've ever been in, which is great.
- 6:30Speaker 2: That's big core. Anyone else you've got playing for this
- 6:35Speaker 2: Year's got anything else happening?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, there's another We've got a few more shows sort
- 6:41Speaker 1: of unannounced coming up, and yeah, nothing nothing we can
- 6:46Speaker 1: really talk about. Yeah, So more so just working towards
- 6:49Speaker 1: an ecrosytic, making sure it's going to be a good one,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and I'm sure it will be. And yeah, released some
- 6:54Speaker 1: new music.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That's it. Fantasy Brother.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I shall be there front and center, So I catch
- 6:59Speaker 3: up with on the day, excellent,
