Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hi, this is Robert Hayes, and I'm listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:22Speaker 2: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:26Speaker 2: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:28Speaker 2: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:31Speaker 2: with this level of profanity... Perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:34Speaker 2: for you, but we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:36Speaker 2: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:39Speaker 2: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. That having been said, on
- 0:43Speaker 2: with the show.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Kilowatts of power. What's up.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I am Misty.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And I'm Jay.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Are you now?
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yes, I am.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Okie dokie.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And we are coming to you live via digital recording
- 1:46Speaker 1: from the bastion of awesomeness.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Fucking A. It's our kitchen. With its ugliest wallpaper. That
- 1:52Speaker 3: I can't change now because boyfriend likes it.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's classic. I love the wallpaper.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It's got glitter in it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It is glitter. Now we'll be distracted just looking at
- 2:02Speaker 1: the glitter.
- 2:03Speaker 3: That's why I never get anything done.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It is by far the ugliest wallpaper I've ever seen.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But I love it. I don't know. That stuff going
- 2:10Speaker 1: in my stairwell is pretty bad. But then they messed
- 2:13Speaker 1: it up and they slapped paint on half of it
- 2:15Speaker 1: but not the other. I'm like one or the other.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Either paint it or Leave it alone, like it's so
- 2:20Speaker 1: old I would have left it there probably.
- 2:21Speaker 3: This is old enough that there's a picture of me
- 2:24Speaker 3: as a baby in that dishwasher with that same fucking
- 2:27Speaker 3: ugly ass wallpaper.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Okay, wait a second. Let's focus, aside from the wallpaper,
- 2:33Speaker 1: on the in that dishwasher part.
- 2:35Speaker 3: The door was open.
- 2:38Speaker 1: For a moment.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Apparently I was fucking determined to be in that. I
- 2:40Speaker 3: was like six months old. I was determined to be
- 2:43Speaker 3: in that fucking dishwasher.
- 2:45Speaker 1: They were like, ah, we'll just put it on a
- 2:46Speaker 1: rinse and hold. It's not the same dishwasher, though.
- 2:49Speaker 3: It's in the same dishwasher hole.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a newer dishwasher that's fallen apart. It's the
- 2:55Speaker 1: best slam ever.
- 2:56Speaker 3: You're a dishwasher hole. Oh, it's going to be one
- 3:02Speaker 3: of those episodes. All right, glittery wallpaper. We are back
- 3:07Speaker 3: in the bastion of awesomeness with, oh, I got new curtains.
- 3:11Speaker 2: They are.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And there's buttons.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Button button he's got the button.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Bonus points for moving quotes and we have sound effects
- 3:19Speaker 1: you already said you.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Want to.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Use it i mean it's my fault i brought it.
- 3:32Speaker 3: One of the previous whenever i want to test and
- 3:35Speaker 3: just like.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It'll just be that noise the whole.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Episode that's my favorite the crazy space bird yeah one
- 3:49Speaker 6: of the previous times we were uh doing this here
- 3:52Speaker 6: we on some random like two-hour tangent of.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Old toy talk jay and i started talking about old
- 3:58Speaker 1: like crazy laser guns we had as a kid and
- 4:01Speaker 1: I was describing that one, and then while I was
- 4:03Speaker 1: moving stuff around the day, I came across it. I'm like, ooh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm going to take it over and show Jay. And
- 4:07Speaker 1: then Misty wanted to play with it.
- 4:08Speaker 7: I did.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I was so excited. We were mad. One of our
- 4:12Speaker 3: friends had one of the toys that Jay had when
- 4:14Speaker 3: he was a kid, and we're like, ooh, we'll buy that.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And then he went and sold it to somebody else
- 4:18Speaker 3: behind our back, and we were not very happy with him.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Pretty sneaky, sis.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I was pretty pissed.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Another box, too.
- 4:24Speaker 3: What was it called again?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Sonic Phaser.
- 4:28Speaker 8: Actually, in all fairness, I could get it off of
- 4:31Speaker 8: eBay cheaper.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Than what we sold it for.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But that's not the point. Yeah. It's like, you could
- 4:36Speaker 1: have sold it to me. If you guys at home
- 4:38Speaker 1: have a sonic phaser you don't really need anymore, send
- 4:41Speaker 1: it over to us. Jay could use it. Hell yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 3: We could have laser battle fights. I have to get
- 4:45Speaker 3: my own sonic blaster because I don't think he would
- 4:46Speaker 3: let me play with his.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'll let you.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Then how can we have fights?
- 4:50Speaker 1: We take turns.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Trade off. Here, now you shoot me.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I'll take turns dying. Actually, now that I think about it,
- 4:56Speaker 1: that actual gun was involved in a laser battle when
- 5:00Speaker 1: I was a kid. But think about this. Like, I
- 5:03Speaker 1: like that one because it's awesome and it's like a
- 5:04Speaker 1: space gun and it lights up. But my friend, we
- 5:07Speaker 1: were having a sleepover or whatever, and he had my
- 5:09Speaker 1: tracer gun. If you're 100 years old, you remember the
- 5:12Speaker 1: little plastic discs?
- 5:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 1: He had that one and I had the beepy gun there.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm like, wait a minute.
- 5:19Speaker 3: It sounds cooler.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It sounds cooler. It looks cooler. But I was getting
- 5:23Speaker 1: hit with like shrapnel and stuff.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I bet that was when you just like throw it
- 5:26Speaker 3: at him.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I guess.
- 5:27Speaker 3: You probably put an eye out. That's why I have
- 5:30Speaker 3: none of my toys.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like a fair battle the more I
- 5:33Speaker 1: think about it. No.
- 5:37Speaker 3: But anyways.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Geek activities. What have you guys seen me?
- 5:41Speaker 3: We tried to watch a movie the other night. It's
- 5:45Speaker 3: an hour and a half movie. I condensed it into
- 5:47Speaker 3: 20 minutes.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Was there a scanning button involved?
- 5:51Speaker 3: The whole movie. Except for like the, what, 10, 15
- 5:55Speaker 3: minutes that Corey Haim was in it.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Was it that long? If that.
- 5:58Speaker 3: He had the most horrible, god-awesome accent I've ever fucking heard.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I thought you told me about this one. Or is
- 6:05Speaker 1: this another one with a bad accent?
- 6:06Speaker 3: This was Do Not Disturb.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Oh, I don't think I've heard this. Which means don't
- 6:10Speaker 1: pick up the movie. Don't look at it. Don't touch it.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Do not disturb this from the shelf.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Just leave it alone. It's not a title of a movie.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's instructions. It's a warning.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I was like, I got it. I'm like, all right.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I got it in the mail from the Netflix. I'm like,
- 6:25Speaker 3: I'll watch this. About five minutes in, I'm like, this
- 6:28Speaker 3: is the worst movie I've ever seen. I cannot watch this.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I can't do it. I just can't. But I was like,
- 6:34Speaker 3: but Corey's in it. And this is one of the
- 6:36Speaker 3: last things he did. He looks awful. Because when we
- 6:40Speaker 3: saw him at the convention, he looked good.
- 6:42Speaker 1: He was doing much better at that point, it seemed like.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So was this after that?
- 6:47Speaker 3: I'm not sure. It sat on shelves for a while.
- 6:52Speaker 3: It didn't get released until 2012, I think, maybe. So
- 6:55Speaker 3: he'd already been gone for like two years. It's for
- 6:57Speaker 3: the best. But, and I'm not saying I love Cory.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Everybody who knows me knows that I will fight to
- 7:03Speaker 3: the death for Cory. But that movie was so bad.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Well, he ended up in some bad movies, especially towards
- 7:07Speaker 1: the end.
- 7:08Speaker 3: This one was, I can't, I'm not even sure what
- 7:11Speaker 3: the entire plot was because I gave up so soon.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Because the main, because he plays like just some, was
- 7:14Speaker 3: he a rock star in a bar?
- 7:16Speaker 8: I don't know if you'd call him a rock star.
- 7:18Speaker 8: He was just kind of like some local guy in
- 7:20Speaker 8: a band that was hanging out in a bar.
- 7:22Speaker 3: How would you describe his accent, other than bad?
- 7:25Speaker 5: Um.
- 7:27Speaker 8: A guy who is really trying to be British but
- 7:32Speaker 8: sounding Australian and just not really doing really good.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Let's put it this way.
- 7:38Speaker 8: My kid has a better British accent, although she watches
- 7:41Speaker 8: a lot of BBC, but she can do a better
- 7:44Speaker 8: British accent than.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Maybe it's a certain dialect of Britain that we don't
- 7:49Speaker 3: know about.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Where was Corey from? I don't know.
- 7:51Speaker 7: Canadian.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah, he's Canadian.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Which is not at all British.
- 7:55Speaker 1: We're in Canada, right? But yeah, theirs is more Frenchy
- 7:58Speaker 1: than British.
- 8:00Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, I guess it had to do
- 8:01Speaker 3: with a writer who... I can't even.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Christy's wrap-up of movies she didn't watch.
- 8:09Speaker 3: It had to do with a writer. Tiffany Shepis was
- 8:10Speaker 3: in it. Shepis.
- 8:11Speaker 10: Ah, Shepis.
- 8:13Speaker 3: It did not star her boobs, so... We'll never know.
- 8:16Speaker 1: How do you make a movie without her getting touched?
- 8:18Speaker 3: Unless it was one of the scenes I skipped through.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I mean, I just fast-forward. Like, all right, not Corey,
- 8:22Speaker 3: not Corey. Let's just... Okay. It took 15, 20 minutes
- 8:25Speaker 3: to get through the whole thing. Then we just sat
- 8:27Speaker 3: and watched X-Files for the rest of the night.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think I fell asleep.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 3: While I was sitting there cursing, it's a piece of shit.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Other than, what else did we try to watch that
- 8:35Speaker 3: was really bad? That was like, oh, why did we
- 8:36Speaker 3: watch this?
- 8:38Speaker 1: You didn't like the movie that had, shit.
- 8:45Speaker 3: We did not do our research on that one.
- 8:46Speaker 1: The one guy that I like that was in that
- 8:50Speaker 1: one movie. Jay's wrap up of the movie's name completely
- 8:55Speaker 1: escapes me right now. I can't think of any of
- 9:00Speaker 1: the damn movies he's been in. Do we have something
- 9:01Speaker 1: to go on here? No, nothing. It's the plot of
- 9:03Speaker 1: this movie. Zombies. England. What was that motion? Shaun of
- 9:09Speaker 1: the Dead. Shaun of the Dead. Oh, okay. Damn it.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I love that movie. What are you talking about?
- 9:13Speaker 1: I like Shaun of the Dead. No, he was in
- 9:15Speaker 1: that other movie that we watched.
- 9:16Speaker 8: That you didn't like.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I hated that movie.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Which one?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I liked that movie.
- 9:22Speaker 11: Oh, fuck.
- 9:23Speaker 3: What's that movie?
- 9:24Speaker 1: It's like one of the.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Simon Pegg was in this movie.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Was it The Fear of.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Absolute Fear of Everything?
- 9:29Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 9:30Speaker 9: Oh, my God.
- 9:31Speaker 3: It's on Netflix. Watch it now. Did we watch it now?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yes, we watched it now.
- 9:34Speaker 3: And it was absolutely horrible.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 9:37Speaker 3: It didn't have zombies in it.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I don't care. I still liked it. He's a writer, too.
- 9:42Speaker 8: He plays a writer in that movie. And then he's
- 9:46Speaker 8: doing research on serial killers.
- 9:49Speaker 3: He starts getting more paranoid, like they're after him.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah. But it is somewhat serious for Simon bay it's
- 9:54Speaker 1: it's serious it's about a guy with it's serious but
- 9:57Speaker 1: funny um i think the rate the main reason misty
- 10:01Speaker 1: doesn't like it is because a good majority of the
- 10:03Speaker 1: film he spends his time in his tidy whities that.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Aren't exactly white or white yeah they are dingy and
- 10:11Speaker 6: baggy and that is not.
- 10:12Speaker 12: Cool he's running around completely scared of everything I think
- 10:18Speaker 12: the main part of the movie is him trying to
- 10:20Speaker 12: make it to the laundromat because he has this phobia
- 10:23Speaker 12: of laundromats.
- 10:24Speaker 8: Because when he was a child, he was abandoned in
- 10:27Speaker 8: a laundromat. It's such a strange film. I enjoyed it.
- 10:32Speaker 8: Misty hated it. I enjoyed it.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're weird.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I am. I'm looking.
- 10:41Speaker 8: I spend a lot of my time with people that
- 10:43Speaker 8: have strange phobias of a lot of weird things, but
- 10:47Speaker 8: I will tell.
- 10:47Speaker 3: You the name of this movie in just a second.
- 10:50Speaker 1: While she's looking it up on her phone.
- 10:51Speaker 3: He had stupid hair, too.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It was just messed up.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It was floppy.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It was messed up. Because he was crazy.
- 11:00Speaker 3: He was crazy. A fantastic fear of everything. There you go.
- 11:04Speaker 10: Hmm.
- 11:06Speaker 3: But yes, he's afraid of the laundromat, and apparently with
- 11:08Speaker 3: good reason, because that's where the bad things happen. There
- 11:13Speaker 3: is apparently a serial killer going on about.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 3: At the same time that he's afraid of things.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I forgot what it was called. Is this in England?
- 11:21Speaker 1: It's in England. Okay.
- 11:23Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And it's from 2012.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But it was just recently added to Netflix.
- 11:25Speaker 8: It's funny because as a writer, he's wanting to get
- 11:28Speaker 8: into more serious stuff, but apparently he's really good at
- 11:33Speaker 8: writing children's stories.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Even in the picture on Netflix, you can see his title.
- 11:38Speaker 8: But he doesn't want to write children's stories. He wants
- 11:41Speaker 8: to write other stories. He wants to write stories about
- 11:43Speaker 8: serial killers.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I can see the synopsis. It's on the internet.
- 11:44Speaker 1: The synopsis?
- 11:45Speaker 3: In the IMDb, a crime novelist whose research on Victorian
- 11:50Speaker 3: serial killers has turned him into a paranoid... I can't
- 11:53Speaker 3: even talk. Paranoid wreck must confront his worst fears when
- 11:57Speaker 3: a film executive takes a sudden interest in his movie script.
- 12:01Speaker 1: There you go. Hmm.
- 12:03Speaker 8: You know, it's one of those you'll either hate it
- 12:04Speaker 8: or you'll like it.
- 12:06Speaker 1: She hated it. I liked it.
- 12:07Speaker 3: There was another movie I watched by myself. We can
- 12:09Speaker 3: go on to that one.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Okay, which one is that?
- 12:11Speaker 3: I watched Dreamcatcher again.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I think I have a copy of that, and I
- 12:16Speaker 1: still haven't watched it yet. I guess you did watch
- 12:18Speaker 1: it by yourself.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yes, because you had none to do with that movie.
- 12:21Speaker 3: You were like, fuck this movie and left.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I think that was all of America. What was that movie?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Where was that?
- 12:28Speaker 3: You stayed long enough to see a little bit of
- 12:30Speaker 3: Jason Lee, and then you were like, oh, he.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Just walked off. Yeah, he wasn't skateboarding, so.
- 12:37Speaker 3: It was pre-Mustache, so at least he had that going
- 12:39Speaker 3: for him.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I kind of remember that. Isn't it a
- 12:41Speaker 1: Stephen King story?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 12:44Speaker 3: And then there was Aliens.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I wasn't in the mood for it.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Aliens.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I love it. And again, like I said, I think
- 12:49Speaker 1: there's a copy that I've ended up with at some point.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I still haven't watched it.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I thought we watched it at some point a long
- 12:53Speaker 3: time ago.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I don't remember. I probably just went to sleep.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I want to go back and watch it again because
- 12:58Speaker 3: I do love me some Timothy Olyphant. And he's in it.
- 13:01Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh, I can do this. I can
- 13:03Speaker 3: do this. Give this movie another chance.
- 13:05Speaker 1: That's a long time for him. That's an old movie.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Because it had him.
- 13:08Speaker 1: For normal people, anyway.
- 13:10Speaker 3: So it had him, Thomas Jane, Jason Lee, that one
- 13:15Speaker 3: right-handed guy whose name I don't fucking need to know
- 13:17Speaker 3: because he's a ginger. And who else was it?
- 13:22Speaker 1: Wahlberg. Mark Wahlberg?
- 13:23Speaker 7: Donnie.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Donnie? The original acting Wahlberg.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he was Duddits.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Duddits.
- 13:31Speaker 3: He's good at playing people that ain't quite right in
- 13:32Speaker 3: the head.
- 13:33Speaker 1: He actually is. He's really good. Even on the weird
- 13:37Speaker 1: cop show that he's on now, he's pretty good at it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: And he got a chick that used to be hot
- 13:42Speaker 3: 20 years ago.
- 13:44Speaker 1: She's so weird.
- 13:46Speaker 3: He's going to marry, what's her face?
- 13:47Speaker 1: Jenny McCarthy.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Really?
- 13:50Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 3: You look concerned for a second.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You should be. I don't know. I like Jenny McCarthy
- 13:57Speaker 1: for like a second.
- 13:59Speaker 3: He claims that he never saw her naked before they
- 14:01Speaker 3: started dating.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Get the fuck out of here. Somebody punch him in
- 14:04Speaker 1: the throat.
- 14:05Speaker 3: He's an idiot. I'm like, come on now. We've all
- 14:08Speaker 3: seen her.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I never saw her naked. What a stupid ass.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I think I might buy that shit.
- 14:13Speaker 1: You should never touch yourself either.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Jerk.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Back in the day, he didn't need to. He had
- 14:18Speaker 1: all those screaming girls.
- 14:19Speaker 3: He was always the least attractive member. That's even bad.
- 14:22Speaker 1: He was the one from the streets with a Z.
- 14:25Speaker 3: He was less attractive than Doc.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Did you know Mario Lopez?
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:30Speaker 1: The non. The most non-street person they're ever on. Yeah. Yo.
- 14:35Speaker 1: He's so dorky. No, you're not. Go away. He's on
- 14:38Speaker 1: the most mainstream stuff now. It's so funny. Just like,
- 14:41Speaker 1: you need something boring and watered down? Add Mario Lopez.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We've got to give it some street creds with the Z.
- 14:50Speaker 3: What ever happened to Mark Paul Gosselaar? I just said
- 14:52Speaker 3: his name wrong.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I don't even care. He had that show a season
- 14:56Speaker 1: or two ago. No surprise. I think it got canceled.
- 14:59Speaker 3: I'm so mad today. I learned they canceled Suburgatory. It's
- 15:03Speaker 3: one of my favorite shows.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I did like that one. Mostly because she's awesome.
- 15:08Speaker 3: She is. I adore her.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Suck and Blow. He's alright.
- 15:11Speaker 3: He's okay.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I still refer to him as Suck and Blow.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Me too. And then Boyfriend looks at me like I'm retarded.
- 15:15Speaker 3: And I'm like, but Suck and Blow. He was Jesus.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And one.
- 15:21Speaker 3: That one Jesus movie. I'm sure people that were in
- 15:23Speaker 3: the blockbuster that I was in that day probably appreciated that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Flashbacks to an old episode. We told the story of
- 15:29Speaker 1: how you screamed out, second blow is Jesus in the
- 15:31Speaker 1: middle of a blockbuster.
- 15:32Speaker 9: I did.
- 15:34Speaker 3: I ain't ashamed. That would involve me having any shame
- 15:38Speaker 3: to begin with. Did we watch anything else?
- 15:40Speaker 1: We watched, we're going back and watching the X-Men series.
- 15:45Speaker 3: We just watched X2 last night.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Better prepare us for the new X-Men movie coming out.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It was pretty awesome. I'd say the best of the run, really.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Up until the new ones, it's arguable first class. But
- 15:57Speaker 1: X2 is pretty damn good.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I liked it. I still have some questions. Why all
- 16:02Speaker 3: the bad wigs? It wasn't even Halle Berry's bad wig
- 16:07Speaker 3: that was bugging me this time. It was... I can't
- 16:10Speaker 3: say her name.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Famke Janssen.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yeah, her fucking stupid ass wig. I'm like, seriously?
- 16:15Speaker 1: Fampke.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Fampke. Whatever. It's like, she didn't wear a wig in
- 16:18Speaker 3: the first one.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Did she? I don't remember it being a bad wig,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but I haven't watched it in a long time.
- 16:23Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Why did she.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Wear a wig? Because it was a wig, right?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it looked like a wig.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I'm like, there's just too many bad wigs.
- 16:31Speaker 8: You're asking me if I thought it was a wig.
- 16:32Speaker 8: You had to tell me my mom was wearing a wig.
- 16:36Speaker 3: She looked like Erika Strada.
- 16:37Speaker 10: She does.
- 16:37Speaker 1: She's got an Erika Strada wig.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Of course, you've got to remember Chips. Eric Estrada, the
- 16:45Speaker 8: chip cheers.
- 16:46Speaker 1: My mom's hair looks like that. Does she also wear
- 16:48Speaker 1: the mirrored sunglasses?
- 16:49Speaker 3: Fabulous. Only on special occasions.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That would be awesome. She pulls you over sometimes. Yeah.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Get out of the car. I'm still, why did she
- 16:59Speaker 3: get out of the plane? Jean Grey, back to this movie.
- 17:03Speaker 3: His mom?
- 17:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 17:06Speaker 3: At the end of X2, back to where we started from.
- 17:09Speaker 1: She had to lift the plane.
- 17:10Speaker 3: She couldn't lift it from inside it?
- 17:11Speaker 1: She had to hold back the water.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Couldn't do that from five feet inside the plane?
- 17:15Speaker 8: She had to block the teleporting guy from teleporting.
- 17:21Speaker 3: He wouldn't need to teleport if she was on a
- 17:23Speaker 3: fucking plane.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I don't know. She had to die.
- 17:26Speaker 8: Remember we had this discussion last night.
- 17:30Speaker 1: She had to die in order to become Phoenix. She
- 17:33Speaker 1: had to die and be reborn. Everyone would be angry
- 17:35Speaker 1: when they mess up the Phoenix series.
- 17:39Speaker 8: You had to have some kind of heartbreak for Wolverine
- 17:43Speaker 8: and Cyclops.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I read that.
- 17:45Speaker 3: The The guy playing Cyclops, James Marston, had to wear
- 17:50Speaker 3: 4-inch lifts for that movie because he was too short.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You're welcome, people. He was too short.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Did I bring him back, Marston, for the new Time
- 18:01Speaker 1: Warping movie?
- 18:02Speaker 3: He died, didn't he?
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're going back in time. He died. What
- 18:06Speaker 1: do you mean he died? Like, real life?
- 18:07Speaker 3: He hasn't watched the third.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. I totally forgot anyway. I haven't seen
- 18:14Speaker 1: the third X-Men. Somebody brought that up recently. That was
- 18:18Speaker 1: the reason they weren't bringing it back for the new one.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I was like, but they are going back in time.
- 18:22Speaker 1: What difference does that make? I guess he's got better
- 18:25Speaker 1: projects now. What is it, X-Men 3? The Last Stand?
- 18:28Speaker 1: The Last Stand. God, I never even saw that one.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I don't know how that escaped me. You're doing okay. Well, no,
- 18:34Speaker 1: I mean, I saw the Wolverines. Just to be a completionist,
- 18:37Speaker 1: you could, yeah. I saw the Wolverines, but I mean, well,
- 18:40Speaker 1: all being two.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And one of them being the most horrible movie ever.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that first one was pretty awful.
- 18:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Well, the only thing I've seen lately, but I thought
- 18:51Speaker 1: you said you'd seen it, so I was going to
- 18:53Speaker 1: see what your take on it was, because I don't
- 18:55Speaker 1: think we went into it last time I talked to you.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I did just watch Nights of Bad Astem. I liked it.
- 19:01Speaker 3: The end was wonky as fuck.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Well, see, that's the thing. Yeah, I liked it too.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I really, really, really liked it. Then I got to
- 19:07Speaker 3: the end. I'm like, this is just, what? This is
- 19:10Speaker 3: just silly. I mean, I loved that movie. It was hilarious.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Which part of the end? Like the battle part of
- 19:17Speaker 1: the end? Spoiler alert. Okay, spoiler alert.
- 19:19Speaker 3: The hymn, singing to beat the guy, that's just retarded.
- 19:22Speaker 1: That was the whole plot of the movie. Yeah, it
- 19:24Speaker 1: is kind of funny. It's funny.
- 19:27Speaker 3: But it's silly.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I just sat there the whole time going, how did
- 19:30Speaker 1: Jack Black not get signed on? Like, he feels like
- 19:32Speaker 1: he's doing Jack Black the entire scene. Yeah, it's like
- 19:36Speaker 1: he already has a game that's pretty much like that.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Why not? Yeah, but other than that, like, I really...
- 19:42Speaker 1: Maybe they couldn't get Jack Black. Well, probably not. At
- 19:45Speaker 1: that point, it's He might have wanted too much money.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I mean, it was pretty low budget. It was amazing. Like,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think they called in most of the favors to
- 19:52Speaker 1: get that cast, because that's the thing. I really liked
- 19:54Speaker 1: everybody in the cast, and they all did a good job, but.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I like Summer Glow. I just don't see how she's
- 19:59Speaker 3: getting hot chick roles. I'm sorry, but she's weird looking.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I mean, I like her, but she's weird.
- 20:04Speaker 1: She's badass.
- 20:05Speaker 3: She is badass.
- 20:05Speaker 1: She always gets the badass chick kind of.
- 20:07Speaker 3: What was her ass rating again? I don't remember.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Plus three.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, plus three.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But she disagrees.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Underestimating or whatever. But, yeah, her face.
- 20:15Speaker 1: She's... Although, what's the true blood dude? I can't say
- 20:20Speaker 1: his last name right.
- 20:21Speaker 5: She's cute.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Ryan Quaton?
- 20:23Speaker 1: Quaton. Because I don't... Like, he seems cool enough, but
- 20:26Speaker 1: I almost... He actually is good with the rest of
- 20:29Speaker 1: the role. Like, I buy him and their little friendship
- 20:31Speaker 1: and all that. Him as the metal singer, though, I'm
- 20:34Speaker 1: just like, no.
- 20:35Speaker 6: No, no, no.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Like, even before you get to the singing, like, just
- 20:37Speaker 1: him hanging out in his room, I'm like, he still
- 20:39Speaker 1: doesn't seem like a metal dude to me. No, not
- 20:41Speaker 1: at all. Not at all.
- 20:42Speaker 3: What throws me is hearing him talk in the real life. Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Because he is, like, so Australian that it's ridiculous. But
- 20:49Speaker 3: I never knew that. I watched True Blood back when
- 20:52Speaker 3: it wasn't stupid. And then I watched this, and it
- 20:55Speaker 3: seems like I've seen something else. Maybe I haven't. I
- 20:57Speaker 3: don't even remember. But, yeah, hearing him talk all.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Australian yeah australian it just throws.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Me don't like it well i mean i do know
- 21:07Speaker 1: the whole that whole ending i think is what became
- 21:11Speaker 1: the big problem because it's and i think i was
- 21:14Speaker 1: telling you this last time like they totally screwed over
- 21:17Speaker 1: joe lynch yeah and i was surprised his name is
- 21:19Speaker 1: still on the movie i thought maybe he would have
- 21:21Speaker 1: like alan smithy did or something because he like has
- 21:25Speaker 1: distanced himself completely he wouldn't do press for it like
- 21:28Speaker 1: They basically took the movie away at one point, completely
- 21:32Speaker 1: recut it into their own version, and put it out
- 21:35Speaker 1: there with his name still attached. So, I know he
- 21:38Speaker 1: wants nothing to do with it. He's still like, I
- 21:41Speaker 1: wish at some point in the future I could put
- 21:43Speaker 1: my cut together, which I think is actually going to
- 21:46Speaker 1: take money to redo special effects.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Will they take out some of the silliness?
- 21:50Speaker 1: I mean, what did they do? Just kick him off
- 21:52Speaker 1: of it, or what? I think it just... He totally
- 21:55Speaker 1: finished shooting it. He did all the basic stuff. I
- 21:59Speaker 1: think it was in the post-production part of it when
- 22:01Speaker 1: they started editing, they started doing some of the special
- 22:04Speaker 1: effects and stuff that they just took over and went, nope,
- 22:06Speaker 1: this is not how we're going to do it. We've
- 22:07Speaker 1: got our version of the story we want to do.
- 22:10Speaker 1: So I'm trying to decide now where it veers off,
- 22:13Speaker 1: because it feels like it's a pretty good setup, and
- 22:16Speaker 1: I really like the relationship with all the friends. Probably
- 22:18Speaker 1: veers off right at the end. And then that last
- 22:20Speaker 1: battle part of it, I do feel like is weird.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I don't know. Also, the whole villain thing all the
- 22:25Speaker 1: way through seems kind of... I almost feel like the
- 22:28Speaker 1: setup for it and the characters that they build are
- 22:31Speaker 1: better than the story that comes out of it. Yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: it is. It seems like it almost comes to an
- 22:36Speaker 1: abrupt end.
- 22:37Speaker 8: It definitely seems like that last... They develop all these
- 22:40Speaker 8: characters and it's like, hey, guess what? We're just going
- 22:41Speaker 8: to kill them off really quick.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well, and even then, they're just like... okay, we, you know, again,
- 22:46Speaker 1: spoiler alert, okay, well, we won. And then just, like,
- 22:48Speaker 1: immediately cuts to the, like, we're going to do a
- 22:51Speaker 1: bad animal house, you know, wrap up with some, here's
- 22:54Speaker 1: what happened to this guy. It's like, because you didn't
- 22:55Speaker 1: shoot anything else?
- 22:56Speaker 13: No.
- 22:58Speaker 1: They just, like, totally wrap it up and tell you, like,
- 23:00Speaker 1: facts that don't really even mean anything? Like, I don't know. Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 1: The one with Gunther, who was just like, that's what
- 23:07Speaker 1: he was like the whole movie. That's not a... It's
- 23:09Speaker 1: not an update. It's exactly the same thing we saw
- 23:11Speaker 1: the whole movie.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Which one was Gunther again?
- 23:13Speaker 1: The big in-character guy. Always in character.
- 23:16Speaker 8: It was like he just went on to always be
- 23:18Speaker 8: in character.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Well, no fucking shit. That's what he was throughout the
- 23:21Speaker 1: whole movie. That's not a change.
- 23:23Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I was very upset, and this is another spoiler alert,
- 23:26Speaker 3: that the little guy died. Peter Dinklage.
- 23:29Speaker 1: He is awesome, by the way. I mean, I know
- 23:31Speaker 1: everyone in the world knows that now, but, like, I
- 23:34Speaker 1: do remember years ago seeing him show up in, like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: weird indie movies and be like, that guy's cool. It's
- 23:39Speaker 1: amazing that the world has shifted enough now that he
- 23:43Speaker 1: gets regular roles. He's going to be in the new
- 23:45Speaker 1: X-Men movie. He's on the cover of one of those
- 23:48Speaker 1: GQ wannabe magazines. He's the cover of one of the
- 23:51Speaker 1: studly men magazines. I'm like, that's awesome. We've gotten to
- 23:55Speaker 1: that point where I'm like, Peter Dinklage is cover boy.
- 23:58Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I still don't want to watch any Game of Thrones.
- 24:02Speaker 3: You can't sway me to that one.
- 24:04Speaker 1: There is... A little guy that runs around in our neighborhood.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I've seen him number the gas station.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I have too.
- 24:10Speaker 8: And I will make him my friend if I can
- 24:12Speaker 8: find him. He's hiding somewhere and I don't know where
- 24:15Speaker 8: in the neighborhood.
- 24:15Speaker 3: He's hiding with fake Philbin. We haven't seen him for
- 24:17Speaker 3: a while either.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, fake Philbin cut off all his hair though. That's
- 24:20Speaker 1: the thing that just really got me. That's not a
- 24:22Speaker 1: Philbin move. Well, he cut off his hair and we
- 24:25Speaker 1: haven't seen him. Did he leave one big long strand?
- 24:27Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 24:28Speaker 1: He's gone into hiding. So maybe to grow his hair
- 24:31Speaker 1: back out.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, he realized that was a bad thing. He's like,
- 24:32Speaker 3: I've been a terrible thing.
- 24:33Speaker 1: We used to see him all the time walking down
- 24:35Speaker 1: the road.
- 24:36Speaker 7: Bad weather?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Weather's been bad. Inclement weather.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Everything. I haven't seen him for a year. If we're
- 24:42Speaker 1: doing strange people in your neighborhood, I did just go
- 24:45Speaker 1: to the grocery at the street and I did pass
- 24:47Speaker 1: by the lady with the voice box. That works at Kroger.
- 24:51Speaker 3: We don't know her.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Oh, man. She was in the full, like, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: apron garb hanging out by the butcher area, but then
- 24:57Speaker 1: she was... Oh, yeah, I do know her.
- 25:00Speaker 3: You're right.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I know her. Yeah, I forgot about her.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I forgot all about her.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I love our Kroger.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah, our Kroger's great.
- 25:07Speaker 3: We went to him right up the street.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I love that Kroger.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's little, and there's lots of weird people that hang
- 25:12Speaker 1: out there.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I know, and they all want to talk to me.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Usually about my purse, or if I'm wearing a shirt.
- 25:17Speaker 1: There's the Doctor Who guy.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, that guy's pretty cool. And that's why, if
- 25:21Speaker 3: they work there, they're always so friendly.
- 25:23Speaker 1: There's the.
- 25:24Speaker 3: The red-headed guy for a ginger. Not bad.
- 25:26Speaker 1: He's pretty cool.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Not like in a, hey, how's it going kind of way,
- 25:28Speaker 3: but he's pretty cool.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I'll let you live, sort of way.
- 25:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And then there's the old guy who wants you to
- 25:34Speaker 1: dye his hair.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Like, just like mine? Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Can't remember his name. He lives right around the street
- 25:38Speaker 8: from us. He lives around the corner. It's funny, because
- 25:40Speaker 8: most of the people that work at the Kroger live
- 25:42Speaker 8: in our neighborhood. And so, I see them either walking
- 25:46Speaker 8: to work or... When I'm riding my bike through the
- 25:48Speaker 8: neighborhood and stuff like that, I'll see him sitting out
- 25:50Speaker 8: on their porch, which is kind of nice.
- 25:53Speaker 3: He veered away from whatever we were talking about. Peter Dinklage.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Little people.
- 25:58Speaker 1: He is awesome.
- 25:59Speaker 10: Yes.
- 26:00Speaker 3: But yeah, I liked his character in the movie. I
- 26:02Speaker 3: liked most of the characters in the movie.
- 26:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Even Steve Zahn. He's pretty terrible. Oh, I like Steve Zahn.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I go back and forth. He's always this... A spaz.
- 26:11Speaker 1: He's always a spaz. He's always a spaz.
- 26:13Speaker 8: But he's always the guy that you need to get
- 26:14Speaker 8: for your spazoid friend. But I can't think of anything
- 26:18Speaker 8: Steve Zahn's been in that I don't like.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Sahara.
- 26:20Speaker 1: What?
- 26:21Speaker 3: Sahara.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Is it Sahara? That's true. Nobody likes Sahara. I've never
- 26:25Speaker 1: seen that movie.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It had Matthew McConaughey in it and.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Was it another?
- 26:29Speaker 3: Penelope Cruz in that one or some chick?
- 26:32Speaker 1: I don't know. Not Kate Hudson? I thought he was, like,
- 26:33Speaker 1: contractually obligated. I don't know. I haven't seen Kate Hudson.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'd probably still like him in that movie if I
- 26:38Speaker 1: did see it. He's one of those, like, I used
- 26:40Speaker 1: to be annoyed by him because he just did that,
- 26:42Speaker 1: and then he did get a few roles that I'm like, okay,
- 26:45Speaker 1: he's for a minute and he's not being a total spaz. Like,
- 26:47Speaker 1: he can act.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Reality Bites. I ain't gonna lie.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Reality Bites, he's not his normal character at all. Like,
- 26:53Speaker 1: he's actually doing a good job being an entirely different character.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Reality Bites.
- 26:58Speaker 3: The flag.
- 26:58Speaker 1: The flag.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I was waiting for you to do it, boyfriend. Every
- 27:01Speaker 3: time we talk about Steve's on or Reality Bites, you
- 27:05Speaker 3: didn't even do your voice.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm not going to do it. Come on. People don't know.
- 27:10Speaker 1: What do you mean? People don't know. What do you mean?
- 27:12Speaker 3: The flag voice.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Come on. I can't do it. I'm laughing too much.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I won't look at you.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Okay, fine. Well, it's not a threat.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I'm not saying you could do it if I don't
- 27:25Speaker 3: look at you that way.
- 27:26Speaker 1: No, I don't want to do it. I'm not a
- 27:29Speaker 1: fucking seal. I can't just do things on command. What
- 27:33Speaker 1: is that, seals?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Really, that's where you're going with that one?
- 27:36Speaker 1: Seals? Yeah, you tell them to balance a ball on
- 27:39Speaker 1: their nose and honk a horn.
- 27:41Speaker 3: And sing a song for the Batman soundtrack.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that too.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 27:47Speaker 1: We should get out on that. All right, we're going
- 27:51Speaker 1: to go watch our movie all the week, and we'll
- 27:54Speaker 1: see if we can survive, and we'll come back.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 1: You'll leave them with a song from Seal. Bust on out.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Bust on out. What was that?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Oh, the kiss from a rose. Kiss from a rose
- 28:06Speaker 3: on the.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 13: I used to think that.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Was a band name, Seal. Nope.
- 28:16Speaker 1: That first album was badass.
- 28:18Speaker 7: Huh?
- 28:19Speaker 3: Crazy was badass.
- 28:20Speaker 1: That sounds like everything. Like, Killer was badass. Like, that
- 28:22Speaker 1: first album was pretty good.
- 28:23Speaker 3: All I know is Crazy.
- 28:25Speaker 2: What?
- 28:25Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Crazy about what?
- 28:27Speaker 3: Seals. We should go watch the movie. I just said
- 28:32Speaker 3: I'm Dr. Pepper. And I'm being a little loopy.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Not Dr.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Pepper.
- 28:37Speaker 11: Dr.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Pepper. Alright, let's go.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it
- 29:08Speaker 2: easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion.
- 29:11Speaker 2: From PA systems to karaoke machines to just about anything
- 29:14Speaker 2: that makes noise, you can rent it from the Doo-Wop Shop.
- 29:17Speaker 2: In Louisville, find them either at their Highland store at
- 29:20Speaker 2: 1587 Bardstown Road or in the East End at 2915
- 29:24Speaker 2: South Hurstburn Parkway. And look for them online at DooWopShop.com.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music.
- 29:32Speaker 9: In everything I do That's the one.
- 29:43Speaker 10: Wonderfest is coming up, and we will soon be in
- 29:49Speaker 10: the middle of it, I'm assuming, as we usually are,
- 29:52Speaker 10: with recording awesome episodes like we do.
- 29:55Speaker 1: So you should plan to head over there now just
- 29:57Speaker 1: for that reason alone, but I thought we would let
- 30:00Speaker 1: you guys tell people what you have in store for
- 30:01Speaker 1: us this year.
- 30:03Speaker 4: What do we have in store, both?
- 30:04Speaker 14: I was going to say, there's a lot of actually
- 30:06Speaker 14: tech guys this year that are coming for our 25th,
- 30:08Speaker 14: just because the 25th is going to be kind of
- 30:10Speaker 14: like a family show in the sense that we at Wonderfest.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Are a family.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Kind of a homecoming for a lot of people from
- 30:17Speaker 4: way back.
- 30:18Speaker 1: We've got Carol Baumann. We haven't had her in, what, six,
- 30:21Speaker 1: seven years? A long time.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It's been a while.
- 30:23Speaker 14: Bringing back Rick Sternbach as well, and of course John
- 30:26Speaker 14: Eves has become sort of the yearly tradition coming in,
- 30:29Speaker 14: just because the man stays busy.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Most of these people are special effects people or designers
- 30:35Speaker 4: or makeup. Drexler is an interesting character because he started
- 30:40Speaker 4: out with makeup.
- 30:40Speaker 14: He started out with makeup, and then he got into
- 30:44Speaker 14: shipbuilding and pretty much everything. It's like he's sort of
- 30:47Speaker 14: a renaissance man when it comes to working people. within
- 30:51Speaker 14: the industry. And I guess that's almost what you have
- 30:52Speaker 14: to do nowadays. It's just, you got to stay multi-talented
- 30:55Speaker 14: that way. If you run out of opportunities with one
- 30:59Speaker 14: aspect of your job, you just hop onto a different one.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Ken Palcos coming back was a major prop builder these
- 31:06Speaker 4: days for big movies. He just did Godzilla. He did
- 31:11Speaker 4: three or four other major pictures this year. And, uh,
- 31:14Speaker 4: I was just talking to him the other day, and
- 31:16Speaker 4: like I said, one of the most interesting things about
- 31:18Speaker 4: what he does is that it's one of the only
- 31:20Speaker 4: facets that's.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Not threatened by CG these days.
- 31:23Speaker 4: An actor still has to have something to hold, and
- 31:27Speaker 4: he's a very good craftsman, so he makes props that
- 31:29Speaker 4: are high-functioning. He did the phasers for the last Trek movies.
- 31:33Speaker 4: They do that little switch-around deal, and that's real. It
- 31:35Speaker 4: really does that. He does a gas canister type thing,
- 31:39Speaker 4: which I think he did the oxygen destroyer for the
- 31:41Speaker 4: new Godzilla. It actually does emit Some kind of crazy gas.
- 31:44Speaker 4: They don't have to go in and post all this stuff.
- 31:46Speaker 4: So he's got job security being created like that.
- 31:50Speaker 1: But I guess if they haven't been sold yet, where
- 31:53Speaker 1: would they go on the old internets there to find
- 31:55Speaker 1: out more about it?
- 31:57Speaker 4: Wunderfest.com.
- 31:58Speaker 2: There you go.
- 31:59Speaker 7: What weekend?
- 32:00Speaker 1: It would be May 31st and the 1st.
- 32:02Speaker 2: May 31st and the 1st.
- 32:08Speaker 1: So much a man can tell you, so much he
- 32:18Speaker 1: can say.
- 32:32Speaker 7: You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain.
- 32:40Speaker 15: Baby, I can tell you to a kiss.
- 32:43Speaker 3: From a rose out of rain.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger I feel.
- 32:52Speaker 15: Now that your rose is in bloom, the light hits
- 32:56Speaker 15: the moon on the rain.
- 33:03Speaker 1: So, before we're officially back, you forgot to complain about Spider-Man.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Oh, fuck that movie, dude. I cannot stand... What's his name?
- 33:11Speaker 1: Garfield. Andrew Garfield.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Andrew Garfield. I want to punch that guy.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Always eating lasagna and shit.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I want to punch that guy in the face.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Isn't that him?
- 33:18Speaker 3: I don't know, dude.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Fates Mondays?
- 33:19Speaker 3: Seriously, dude. It's just like... I mean, I adore Emma Stone.
- 33:23Speaker 1: She is awesome. I mean, that's the thing that kills
- 33:25Speaker 1: me about this new series is I wish she was
- 33:27Speaker 1: in a better version of it.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I haven't even seen the new one yet. I don't
- 33:35Speaker 1: care about this movie. But you just watched the first one,
- 33:38Speaker 1: you said. Yeah, we just watched the first one.
- 33:41Speaker 8: He's very twitchy in it. I don't buy him as
- 33:43Speaker 8: a Peter Parker. And granted, you know, I'm not a
- 33:46Speaker 8: huge Spider-Man fan. There are a lot of other people
- 33:49Speaker 8: out there that are bigger Spider-Man fans. And he just
- 33:53Speaker 8: doesn't seem like a Peter Parker to me.
- 33:55Speaker 1: See, that was my thing. I.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I bought Tobey Maguire more as Peter Parker than I
- 34:01Speaker 1: did this guy. I really thought Tobey Maguire kind of
- 34:03Speaker 1: nailed it. That's kind of what I thought, too. We
- 34:05Speaker 1: did our whole episode on that first one. It's like,
- 34:07Speaker 1: why are they remaking this? They already made it. What
- 34:09Speaker 1: was wrong with Tobey? Did he get old? Is that
- 34:11Speaker 1: the problem? Oh, yeah, he did get old. I mean,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I can see that. And I know the real reason
- 34:15Speaker 1: why they did it is so they wouldn't lose the license.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Because they had to make another Spider-Man movie in a
- 34:20Speaker 1: couple of years or it was going to go back
- 34:22Speaker 1: to Marvel. And that's why it's not part of that
- 34:24Speaker 1: Marvel run that X-Men... Well, no, X-Men isn't either. But
- 34:28Speaker 1: all the other Avengers and all the people and Iron
- 34:31Speaker 1: Man and all that stuff is still under the Marvel reign,
- 34:35Speaker 1: whereas Sony owns Spider-Man. So that kind of makes me
- 34:39Speaker 1: worried is that they're just cranking stuff out for the
- 34:42Speaker 1: sake of holding on to properties at this point. Well,
- 34:44Speaker 1: that and making video games and selling products and stuff
- 34:48Speaker 1: like that. That's kind of what it feels like anyway. Bullshit.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Some of these. But it was a trailer. Some of
- 34:54Speaker 1: the animation looks like it's a video game. Yeah, it is.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, there was too much crap.
- 35:01Speaker 3: It was just chock full of crap. I didn't buy
- 35:02Speaker 3: any of it whatsoever. It's like there was a 10-second
- 35:07Speaker 3: scene where he's kind of awkward with his powers. Next
- 35:09Speaker 3: thing you know, he's fucking fighting. He's been fighting like
- 35:10Speaker 3: this his whole entire life. There's no like, I'm learning.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I'm doing this. I'm learning. But that was just like,
- 35:15Speaker 3: I automatically know how to do all this stuff.
- 35:17Speaker 1: We've got to have a montage.
- 35:19Speaker 3: There was no training montage.
- 35:20Speaker 8: You know, there was like a couple things. I know
- 35:23Speaker 8: people were probably upset with.
- 35:25Speaker 1: The original Spider-Man. Well, the original Spider-Man.
- 35:27Speaker 8: The first Spider-Man where... The Sam Raimi Spider-Man. The Sam
- 35:31Speaker 8: Raimi Spider-Man where he's shooting webs out of his hands.
- 35:33Speaker 8: In a way, you know, at first when I saw that,
- 35:35Speaker 8: I was like, no, he's.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Got web shooters, you know. But it's like... I don't know.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I kind of almost like that better.
- 35:42Speaker 5: In a way.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I've said that many a time on the show. I
- 35:44Speaker 1: like that improvement. I think it made sense. It made sense.
- 35:47Speaker 1: It's like, if he's going to have all these other
- 35:49Speaker 1: spider powers... Why would he not have that? Why would
- 35:51Speaker 1: he not? I mean, it's better than him shooting webs
- 35:53Speaker 1: out of his butt. But this is when they go
- 35:56Speaker 1: back to the web shooters, so I don't know. Does
- 35:58Speaker 1: that make sense?
- 36:02Speaker 8: I don't remember, and this is just me, okay? I
- 36:04Speaker 8: don't remember Peter Parker being a super fucking scientist genius guy.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Then again, I didn't read the comic. I've got a
- 36:13Speaker 1: few comic books, but I didn't get into it as heavy.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I wasn't as big into it as I was the X-Men.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I like the X-Men a lot better.
- 36:21Speaker 16: See, I just had somebody, because right before this new
- 36:27Speaker 16: part two just came out, I was just having a
- 36:30Speaker 16: disagreement with someone because they were just totally bashing the
- 36:35Speaker 16: Tobey Maguire version and hated it and thought he was
- 36:38Speaker 16: terrible casting.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I'm like, what are you talking about their take on
- 36:42Speaker 1: it was what little we got into it was just
- 36:45Speaker 1: that he told me I was too much of a
- 36:48Speaker 1: nerd and that Spider-Man wasn't I'm like Peter Parker was
- 36:52Speaker 1: totally a nerd like that was his.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Thing yeah he was completely just he was just I
- 36:58Speaker 8: was trying to tell Misty Peter Parker was just average
- 37:03Speaker 8: yeah he was just he wasn't special he wasn't good
- 37:08Speaker 8: really at anything I don't.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Think Taking photos. Taking photos.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Did he like to skateboard?
- 37:13Speaker 1: But he wasn't even in, you know, I mean, he
- 37:17Speaker 1: was just, he was nobody, nobody important. He wasn't, he was,
- 37:23Speaker 1: he was a man of, or a kid of just nothing.
- 37:27Speaker 1: He was just nobody, he was so much to the
- 37:29Speaker 1: point that people just like ignored him.
- 37:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:32Speaker 1: He was just wallpaper. There was nothing special about him.
- 37:36Speaker 1: That's what I think she was saying was like they were,
- 37:38Speaker 1: that Spider-Man is, you know, he's a smart ass and
- 37:41Speaker 1: he likes to give people shit. And I'm like, yeah,
- 37:44Speaker 1: he did that as Spider-Man. Like that was his alter
- 37:47Speaker 1: ego was that he's super boring and mild mannered in
- 37:50Speaker 1: his real life. But when he gets in the suit,
- 37:52Speaker 1: it kind of like turns that on in him.
- 37:54Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 1: He has that power and he has that confidence to
- 37:56Speaker 1: mess with people.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Power to be super obnoxious. Oh my God.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Now we're talking about the other one. Cause that's the thing.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I felt like he did have a little of that in,
- 38:04Speaker 1: in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man series. And like he, it,
- 38:07Speaker 1: You still feel like he turns into that Spider-Man that
- 38:09Speaker 1: you used to read in the comic books.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 1: That you saw in the animated ones. He was a
- 38:13Speaker 1: smartass when he's in the costume. When he's in the costume.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And this other guy, he's just a smartass all the time. Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Which is why, I don't know. And he doesn't get
- 38:20Speaker 1: picked on that much. Because he's. like six foot tall
- 38:24Speaker 1: and he's, according to them, super hot.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I think a good foot and a half of that
- 38:27Speaker 3: is his hair.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Well, probably. I think he's weird looking, truthfully. I think
- 38:31Speaker 1: it was better, like, you know, like we were talking about,
- 38:33Speaker 1: I think it was better as Tobey Maguire because he
- 38:35Speaker 1: seemed like this just dork that got picked on, you know,
- 38:39Speaker 1: and the new one just seems like he doesn't, he's
- 38:42Speaker 1: not that bad looking of a guy.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yes, he is.
- 38:45Speaker 1: To today's standards of what.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Today's standards suck.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Girls like... He's weird looking. He's weird looking. He's got
- 38:51Speaker 1: the hair. And he's got that look. He doesn't look
- 38:54Speaker 1: like a complete pimply-faced dork. He looks like he would
- 38:59Speaker 1: probably do just fine in high school.
- 39:01Speaker 8: Just fine without superpowers. He would be just fine in school,
- 39:04Speaker 8: aside from them sticking him in a role and saying, look,
- 39:09Speaker 8: people don't like him.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I don't buy it. I don't buy it.
- 39:14Speaker 3: That guy in general just seems like a dick.
- 39:16Speaker 1: In the real world, which I think I've covered on
- 39:19Speaker 1: a recent episode. I just don't like him in the
- 39:21Speaker 1: real world. So it's really hard for me to have
- 39:24Speaker 1: any other feelings for him. Is he a dick in
- 39:25Speaker 1: the real world? Oh, Lord. Yes. Oh, really? We'll go
- 39:31Speaker 1: back into that in a minute. Since I just told
- 39:33Speaker 1: these stories. But yeah, I guess to come back to
- 39:36Speaker 1: that point, which was funny, was this was right before
- 39:39Speaker 1: that I was having the whole disagreement about the new
- 39:42Speaker 1: Spider-Man versus the old one. And she was totally on
- 39:45Speaker 1: board with the amazing Spider-Man first movie. And then that
- 39:49Speaker 1: was like right before going to see the second one.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Came back this past week after having seen the second
- 39:54Speaker 1: one and said it sucked. So I was like, even
- 39:56Speaker 1: the person that was totally on board and enjoyed the
- 39:59Speaker 1: movie didn't like what they did with the second one.
- 40:01Speaker 1: So I'm like, that's trouble. Because I already didn't really
- 40:04Speaker 1: like the first one.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And I already know the spoiler for the new movie.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Because I'm like, I don't actually want to see this movie,
- 40:10Speaker 3: but I want to know what happens.
- 40:11Speaker 1: She wants to spoil it. You want to spoil it
- 40:13Speaker 1: for yourself.
- 40:13Speaker 3: No, I spoiled it for boyfriend. So I'm like, guess
- 40:16Speaker 3: what happens in the movie.
- 40:17Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 40:18Speaker 7: I did.
- 40:19Speaker 3: I totally told them what happened.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I don't think I care. There's other things in my
- 40:23Speaker 1: life going on that are more important than Spider-Man. I mean, technically,
- 40:27Speaker 1: if you know the series and the kind of thing.
- 40:31Speaker 3: But not everybody does. And she's the only part of
- 40:34Speaker 3: the movie worth watching.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm just kind of like, eh.
- 40:37Speaker 3: I like her better now that I know she's a
- 40:40Speaker 3: natural blonde and not a soulless gender. She is naturally
- 40:44Speaker 3: a blonde. They talked her into dyeing her hair red
- 40:46Speaker 3: for whatever, like Superbad or Zombieland, whichever came first.
- 40:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:52Speaker 1: She's kind of always had it in most of her roles.
- 40:55Speaker 3: But yeah, she's naturally blonde.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Interesting. I think I knew that already, but I kind
- 40:59Speaker 1: of forget it every time.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Tell everybody. Make everybody know that you're blonde. I'm not
- 41:06Speaker 3: a big fan of blondes normally, but I like her.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Nothing against blondes, because I know some of you are
- 41:11Speaker 3: going to get their little feelings hurt. Nothing against blondes.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Many's the time if you pissed off somebody with a
- 41:16Speaker 1: hair color. We're running out of people with hair colors,
- 41:19Speaker 1: so I don't.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Know what to do.
- 41:20Speaker 3: But I do have a thing for Amber Heard. She's
- 41:22Speaker 3: definitely blonde, so maybe I don't hate blondes.
- 41:26Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I like Amber Heard a little bit less than I
- 41:28Speaker 3: did with Johnny Depp.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Blonde hair. I said you had blonde hair.
- 41:32Speaker 3: For a long time ago. Amber Heard's hotness has definitely
- 41:37Speaker 3: gone downhill since she's hooked up with him.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Her taste is questionable, man. Who did she hook up with?
- 41:42Speaker 3: Johnny Depp. old johnny depp oh yeah he'd go back
- 41:47Speaker 3: like 30 years.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Yeah like 20 ish johnny depp it's pretty damn hot
- 41:51Speaker 1: but now he's just a crazy old man now he's
- 41:53Speaker 1: just weird he's a hobo he is.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yeah so is it cookie time yet it's cookie time
- 42:01Speaker 3: we're gonna take a break for cookies.
- 42:02Speaker 5: Farm fresh eggs golden brown sugar creamery butter with these
- 42:07Speaker 5: natural ingredients wouldn't it be foolish to use imitation chocolate
- 42:11Speaker 5: flavored chips in my toll house cookies You see, the
- 42:14Speaker 5: only way to make genuine Toll House cookies is with
- 42:17Speaker 5: Nestle's semi-sweet real chocolate morsels. Nestle's real chocolate makes them
- 42:22Speaker 5: rich and chewy and chocolatey. Real chocolate. That's what makes
- 42:26Speaker 5: Nestle's Toll House cookies taste so special. And so chocolatey.
- 42:30Speaker 15: He was the wizard of a thousand kings. And I
- 42:37Speaker 15: chanced to meet him one night warm.
- 42:42Speaker 1: So as I said, we've been to the Chicago Wizard
- 42:46Speaker 1: World before, so they've got quite a few. They've got
- 42:50Speaker 1: a lot.
- 42:50Speaker 3: They're all over the country.
- 42:51Speaker 2: That's what I was going to say.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Since they're inviting us to hang around here, I thought
- 42:55Speaker 1: we would go ahead and give the rundown. That's the
- 42:58Speaker 1: difference with this one, is it's not just in one city.
- 43:00Speaker 1: It's something they've done kind of everywhere now. They've sort

- 45:01Speaker 11: My name is Odd Thomas. I'm not a celebrity. I'm
- 45:06Speaker 11: not the child of a celebrity. I've never been married to,
- 45:08Speaker 11: abused by, or provided a kidney to a celebrity. But
- 45:13Speaker 11: I do lead an unusual life.
- 45:16Speaker 6: Knock, knock.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Loop me in, Odd One.
- 45:19Speaker 11: This place looks like some kind of shrine.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Did you check the refrigerator for any severed heads?
- 45:25Speaker 11: That is Stormy Llewellyn. Stormy and I are destined to
- 45:32Speaker 11: be together forever.
- 45:36Speaker 5: That must be for you.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I found a gateway to hell.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Get out of there, Audie.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Been communing with the dead?
- 45:49Speaker 11: It's not about who's dead, sir. It's about who soon
- 45:51Speaker 11: might be. You have a secret.
- 45:55Speaker 8: You're either a clairvoyant, a psychic, or you got yourself
- 45:58Speaker 8: some juice with a higher power.
- 46:03Speaker 11: I'm here looking for a guy.
- 46:05Speaker 1: A creepy guy. Any of those bodage things around? Bodex.
- 46:10Speaker 11: When they do show up, it's a sure sign that
- 46:12Speaker 11: Carnage and Bloodshed are not far behind. If they find
- 46:16Speaker 11: out you can see them, they will kill you.
- 46:18Speaker 9: I'm just so scared for you, Adi.
- 46:28Speaker 3: A lot of people died in that dream of yours, huh, Hod?
- 46:31Speaker 1: Yeah, they did.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Your dreams ever come true?
- 46:34Speaker 7: This town is in serious trouble.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I want an APB put out on this guy now!
- 47:06Speaker 1: August 15th.
- 47:08Speaker 11: Trust me, that is the day that Pico Mundo will
- 47:10Speaker 11: never forget.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Ah!
- 47:34Speaker 7: Was a song now i'm on my own went through
- 47:40Speaker 7: every word and i've got myself to show and trials
- 47:48Speaker 7: and tribulations seem to always track me down look up
- 47:54Speaker 7: into the sunset and try me another.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Oh, yes, and I'd so.
- 48:04Speaker 7: I'd walk inside once, because that's the only way I know.
- 48:13Speaker 1: And I'd so. Oh, yes, and I'd so.
- 48:16Speaker 7: Watch for who you know. Care for what you try.
- 48:31Speaker 1: All right, we are back. We've loaded up on our cookies.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Hell yeah, we did.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Cookies and milk.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Oh, fucking A.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Hardcore.
- 48:37Speaker 3: I'm so fat with cookies right now. And milk. Reduced fat.
- 48:43Speaker 1: 2% lactose free. You guys should have an interactive podcast
- 48:46Speaker 1: and also have cookies and milk while you listen to us.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:49Speaker 3: The gooey ones.
- 48:50Speaker 1: They were massively gooey.
- 48:52Speaker 3: You couldn't even pick them up.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Cookies with a spoon.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Hell yeah, yeah. That's not even including the raw ones
- 48:59Speaker 3: we ate first. We're going to die.
- 49:01Speaker 1: I didn't eat raw cookie dough. I know better. It's
- 49:03Speaker 1: good for you.
- 49:03Speaker 3: It lifts up your resistance to other.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Raw cookie dough?
- 49:06Speaker 7: Yes.
- 49:08Speaker 1: It must, though, because I'm still alive. I've decided lately
- 49:10Speaker 1: that's the only reason I'm still around. I eat so
- 49:13Speaker 1: much crap. It's just built up my immune system. It's
- 49:17Speaker 1: kind of the way I feel about things. You know,
- 49:20Speaker 1: people get sick all the time.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Because they don't eat raw cookie dough.
- 49:25Speaker 1: I know plenty of people who do. And a lot
- 49:26Speaker 1: of times they're very healthy living people. And I'm like,
- 49:29Speaker 1: I eat crap. I pick stuff up off the floor
- 49:32Speaker 1: at work and eat it. And that's messy. I'm like,
- 49:34Speaker 1: look at the stuff I'm eating. And when am I ever?
- 49:38Speaker 1: When's the last time I didn't show up for work
- 49:39Speaker 1: because I was sick?
- 49:40Speaker 10: Never.
- 49:41Speaker 1: So it's like... Well, you do the math there. Most
- 49:45Speaker 1: of the time when I'm sick from work, it's usually
- 49:47Speaker 1: just an excuse. Because you don't want to go to work.
- 49:50Speaker 1: I don't feel like, I'm not feeling very good right now.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I think that's different. And, yeah, you got to throw
- 49:57Speaker 1: in a couple fake coughs there. Okay, Ferris, you can
- 50:01Speaker 1: stay home from school today.
- 50:03Speaker 3: It never fails whenever I call in sick, I get sick.
- 50:07Speaker 1: It's like cosmic payback.
- 50:09Speaker 3: It happens all the time. I call in and pretend
- 50:11Speaker 3: to be sick. The next day, I'm fucking dying. It's
- 50:16Speaker 3: not awesome. All right, should we get to the next one?
- 50:19Speaker 1: We probably should. This week's Sofa Theater feature is Odd Thomas.
- 50:24Speaker 1: The year is 2013. The director, Stephen Sommers. And the plot,
- 50:29Speaker 1: according to IMDb, is... In a California desert town, a
- 50:33Speaker 1: short order cook with clairvoyant abilities encounters a mysterious man
- 50:37Speaker 1: with a link to dark, threatening forces. Spoiler alert. We
- 50:43Speaker 1: will totally.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Ruin all of this.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Hell yeah, we will.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Feel free to go watch it. In fact, if you're
- 50:49Speaker 1: listening to this in the near future, it's streaming online
- 50:53Speaker 1: on one of those services you probably already pay for anyway. Alright, so...
- 50:58Speaker 1: Where would you like to begin with? First of all,
- 51:00Speaker 1: I had to figure out what it was. I knew
- 51:02Speaker 1: it was based on something, but I'd already forgotten where
- 51:05Speaker 1: it came from. So the whole time I'm like, is
- 51:07Speaker 1: this a comic book? Because it kind of feels like
- 51:10Speaker 1: a comic book. So does that mean Dean Kuntz writes
- 51:12Speaker 1: things kind of like comic books?
- 51:13Speaker 3: I've only read like one that I remember.
- 51:16Speaker 7: Of Dean Kuntz.
- 51:16Speaker 1: What, Intensity?
- 51:17Speaker 3: I don't know, but it had something to do with bats.
- 51:20Speaker 3: And I think a girl's vagina. I'm not really sure
- 51:22Speaker 3: they might.
- 51:24Speaker 1: What? Now I need to see this. What kind of
- 51:27Speaker 1: movie is this?
- 51:28Speaker 3: That was a book. It was one of the books.
- 51:29Speaker 3: It might have been one. No, it wasn't one. No,
- 51:32Speaker 3: that wasn't that one. I don't know.
- 51:33Speaker 1: All I know is.
- 51:34Speaker 3: He wrote Watchers, too, which I loved that movie because
- 51:37Speaker 3: it had Corey Heyman. And the sequel had Mark Singer
- 51:41Speaker 3: in it. And I loved them both.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Your two favorite peoples.
- 51:43Speaker 3: They are. Not even sarcastically. I really do love them.
- 51:46Speaker 1: All I know is Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I do remember that one. I told boyfriend I
- 51:51Speaker 3: wanted to watch it again. He's like, what?
- 51:53Speaker 10: Why?
- 51:53Speaker 1: I know, that's what everyone said. The first time around.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Which movie is that?
- 51:57Speaker 3: It's got Rose McGowan in it.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Right yeah it's one of those at the time i
- 52:01Speaker 1: remember being sort of entertaining in a mess at the
- 52:04Speaker 1: same time so i i'll watch it if i would.
- 52:07Speaker 8: Go back and rewatch it when she was hot yeah
- 52:10Speaker 8: it was young it.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Was like before she fucked her face up yeah i
- 52:13Speaker 1: don't know what that's it was just after scream rose
- 52:15Speaker 1: mcgowan so that's yeah that's.
- 52:16Speaker 3: All but she had dark hair though it wasn't like
- 52:18Speaker 3: blonde scream hair wasn't it but anyways odd thomas i
- 52:21Speaker 3: liked i've not read the book i've I read a
- 52:24Speaker 3: lot of reviews online from people that had read the
- 52:26Speaker 3: book and they actually did like the movie, which I
- 52:28Speaker 3: was kind of surprised.
- 52:28Speaker 1: That's unusual. Because usually people are.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Very rabid about their, you know, I'm the same way.
- 52:33Speaker 3: I read a book. If it doesn't follow at least
- 52:35Speaker 3: to a certain degree or to my liking, I get pissed.
- 52:38Speaker 1: See, I don't do that at all.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're weird.
- 52:40Speaker 1: You don't read books. Well, first of all, I don't
- 52:43Speaker 1: read books because I don't know how to read. But
- 52:45Speaker 1: more importantly, I've gotten to a point where I've not
- 52:48Speaker 1: only separated them and gotten very annoyed by people that
- 52:51Speaker 1: want to make them the same thing, but like, It
- 52:55Speaker 1: needs to be separated for very specific reasons. They're totally
- 52:58Speaker 1: different mediums. I don't know. I feel like I get
- 53:01Speaker 1: into this argument on a daily basis with people.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Which is why we're not going to get into that argument.
- 53:05Speaker 3: We're just going to talk about the movie. I was
- 53:08Speaker 3: just calling to attention that people that have read the
- 53:09Speaker 3: book still like the movie and enjoy the movie and
- 53:12Speaker 3: didn't seem to have that many complaints about the movie. I...
- 53:17Speaker 3: I kind of want to read the book, but I
- 53:18Speaker 3: kind of like the movie the way it is.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I don't think it'll spoil it for you.
- 53:22Speaker 3: I'll know how it ends.
- 53:25Speaker 8: I read Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade before the
- 53:31Speaker 8: movie came out.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Was it a novelization? No, it was before the movie
- 53:35Speaker 1: came out. I mean, was it one of those movies
- 53:37Speaker 1: turned into a book? No, it was the book. Because
- 53:39Speaker 1: a lot of those they would put out before the movie.
- 53:41Speaker 1: They wrote the book.
- 53:42Speaker 8: I had the book before the movie came out.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 8: Because I was really excited about the movie, and so
- 53:48Speaker 8: the book had come out.
- 53:49Speaker 1: And that's what I read on the flight from here
- 53:51Speaker 1: to Thailand.
- 53:53Speaker 8: And I loved the book. And the movie came out,
- 53:56Speaker 8: and I loved the movie too. there were certain things that,
- 54:01Speaker 8: you know, I was like kind of let down on
- 54:04Speaker 8: in the movie because when I read the book, my,
- 54:07Speaker 8: my mind, I had this, the imagination is so great.
- 54:10Speaker 8: I mean, it just, the, the movie could not compare
- 54:14Speaker 8: with what my imagination had set up for it with
- 54:17Speaker 8: this book, but I still liked the movie. So, I mean, I,
- 54:20Speaker 8: I mean, I can read a book and then watch
- 54:23Speaker 8: the movie and be able to separate the two, you.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Know, Now comic books, that's a different thing. That's a
- 54:30Speaker 1: different thing. Comic books, different thing. You fuck with the
- 54:33Speaker 1: comics and you screwed yourself. I think there's a dividing
- 54:37Speaker 1: line with any of these. I think you have to.
- 54:39Speaker 3: We're not arguing about this.
- 54:41Speaker 1: But no, you have to. Well, in general, like even
- 54:43Speaker 1: this movie as well. It's like you have to kind
- 54:45Speaker 1: of figure out what you're trying to do with the
- 54:47Speaker 1: movie you're trying to make. Like you can't. make it
- 54:50Speaker 1: word for word. You've only got so much time. You've
- 54:54Speaker 1: got to cram it into this hour and a half usually.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So it's like you've got to figure out how to
- 54:59Speaker 1: do the best movie you can based on the source material.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I understand that there was a lot of stuff that
- 55:03Speaker 3: had to get left out because the book's like 350,
- 55:05Speaker 3: 400 pages long. So there is stuff that was in
- 55:07Speaker 3: the book that didn't make it in the movie like
- 55:11Speaker 3: in the book I think Elvis's ghost hangs out with
- 55:14Speaker 3: him like he hangs out with him all.
- 55:16Speaker 1: The time it's not just the cardboard stand yeah and in.
- 55:18Speaker 3: The book I think Oz is it Oz Ozzy whatever
- 55:22Speaker 3: his best friend like Oz is like in the movie
- 55:24Speaker 3: the whole time like the.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Guy who made the necklace you mean in the book
- 55:28Speaker 1: the whole time yeah in the.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Book the whole time yeah the guy who made the
- 55:30Speaker 3: necklace for him that's his best friend.
- 55:32Speaker 1: In the book yeah because he's not really in the
- 55:34Speaker 1: movie that much at.
- 55:34Speaker 3: All no that's you know there's one thing that people
- 55:37Speaker 3: were saying that you know In the book, you know,
- 55:40Speaker 3: that guy is his best friend, which you don't really
- 55:43Speaker 3: get that in the movie. You get it kind of
- 55:44Speaker 3: like maybe like an associate, but you know, there's stuff
- 55:46Speaker 3: that they had to sacrifice in order to make it
- 55:49Speaker 3: fit with the rest of the story. There was a
- 55:51Speaker 3: lot of other story going on in there.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Because to me, that's an art form, is like somebody
- 55:55Speaker 1: who can take this big massive thing and actually make
- 55:58Speaker 1: it work as a movie. Like, I don't think people
- 56:00Speaker 1: get enough credit for doing that. They just want to
- 56:03Speaker 1: go the other way and bitch about the fact you
- 56:04Speaker 1: left this out or you changed this. I'm like, but
- 56:06Speaker 1: when they do it, that's an amazing thing. Yeah, they've
- 56:08Speaker 1: got to be able to make things make sense. That's
- 56:13Speaker 1: something I feel like people don't give enough credit for
- 56:16Speaker 1: when they do it right or realize how almost impossible.
- 56:19Speaker 1: I can't imagine trying to do that. So, I don't know.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Anytime somebody can do that, even somewhat successfully, or create
- 56:26Speaker 1: their own thing out of somebody else's property, that's always impressive,
- 56:30Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Because the same guy who directed this also did the
- 56:32Speaker 3: screenplay for it, so I think he took this on
- 56:34Speaker 3: and did a lot with it. Like I said, I
- 56:37Speaker 3: haven't read the book, so I'm sure if anybody out
- 56:38Speaker 3: there is going to disagree with me, they probably will
- 56:40Speaker 3: because most people do. But I think they did a
- 56:43Speaker 3: good job. I like the way that it all turned out.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I thought that if they tried to add more of
- 56:47Speaker 3: what was in the book, it might have... Because there
- 56:49Speaker 3: was so much going on in this movie, it seemed
- 56:51Speaker 3: like to me. There was just so much in the movie,
- 56:53Speaker 3: you know. I loved the characters. I adored Stormy.
- 56:57Speaker 9: I did.
- 56:57Speaker 3: I don't even care. I had a crush on her.
- 57:00Speaker 3: She was so quirky.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Stormy's a weird... She's the weird part in it for me.
- 57:05Speaker 3: You didn't like Stormy?
- 57:06Speaker 1: I agree with him. She's adorable. She just feels like,
- 57:09Speaker 1: and again, I don't know if this is writing or
- 57:12Speaker 1: if part of it is the performance. She feels like
- 57:15Speaker 1: she's almost in a different movie. Like her interactions with everybody, basically,
- 57:21Speaker 1: but specifically her and Odd are like almost, because again,
- 57:24Speaker 1: the whole thing almost feels like it's a comic book anyway.
- 57:27Speaker 1: She feels like she's in a different comic book. She's
- 57:29Speaker 1: in like Love and Rockets and he's trying to make
- 57:31Speaker 1: like a supernatural superhero movie or something.
- 57:35Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Hers is just... It's almost just delivery. It's the way
- 57:39Speaker 1: that she delivers the lines feels like it's an Archie comic.
- 57:43Speaker 1: The way that she's firing off these lines is just
- 57:46Speaker 1: kind of a different timing and meter than everything else
- 57:50Speaker 1: that's going on in the more serious action-y stuff. She's
- 57:54Speaker 1: calling him Pooh Bear. But I like her. That's the thing.
- 57:56Speaker 1: It's a weird mix. It seems like I would not
- 57:59Speaker 1: like that at all, but I still like her and
- 58:01Speaker 1: I like the relationship and where it ends up going
- 58:04Speaker 1: at the end, but it's just weird. Like, I never
- 58:06Speaker 1: could make peace with what it was. It's like, she
- 58:08Speaker 1: feels like a very different part of the story the
- 58:12Speaker 1: whole way through. I don't know. Now listen to me,
- 58:15Speaker 1: odd one. I don't want you going back to that
- 58:16Speaker 1: creepy room again.
- 58:17Speaker 11: It doesn't exist anymore.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Well, don't go looking for it, hoping it'll come back.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Never crossed my mind.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yes, it did.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Yes, it did.
- 58:24Speaker 16: It is a gate to the underworld, and you are
- 58:25Speaker 16: forbidden by me to ever play in it again.
- 58:28Speaker 3: It's hard enough living with the guy who helps dead
- 58:30Speaker 3: people without having to trek all the way down to
- 58:31Speaker 3: hell to pull his ass out of the fire.
- 58:33Speaker 11: Since when are we living together?
- 58:35Speaker 3: We will be.
- 58:36Speaker 11: Oh, I guess I didn't think let's put a pin in.
- 58:38Speaker 1: It meant yes. You have to learn to listen with
- 58:40Speaker 1: more than just your ears.
- 58:42Speaker 11: What body part am I supposed to listen with?
- 58:45Speaker 2: Right, my heart.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I'm supposed to listen with my heart.
- 58:48Speaker 3: In my head, I kept trying to think she was
- 58:49Speaker 3: another actress. In my head, she was Emanuel Chikri.
- 58:53Speaker 1: She looks familiar, and I can't figure out why.
- 58:56Speaker 3: So maybe I better look up why. I don't recognize
- 58:59Speaker 3: her from anything, but she looks like the other chick
- 59:01Speaker 3: from Wrong Turn to me. The not douche goo chick.
- 59:05Speaker 1: The not douche goo.
- 59:06Speaker 3: You know who I'm talking about.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I know who douche goo is. Not the douche goo.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Goo But you know I showed you a picture And
- 59:11Speaker 3: I'm like This is.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Who she looks like Yeah I know And at.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Some of the angles She does kind of look like.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Her I know I'm trying to figure out What else
- 59:18Speaker 1: she's in now But I might actually Recognize her from
- 59:21Speaker 1: I haven't seen stand up.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Guys California Cation.
- 59:26Speaker 1: I don't want to think about that Because that just
- 59:28Speaker 1: means She's hooking up with the company Because everybody on
- 59:31Speaker 1: that show hooks up with Dakota. The Ducinovi?
- 59:34Speaker 3: She ain't done that much stuff, you know.
- 59:36Speaker 11: Weird.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Maybe that's why. She just looks like another actress or
- 59:41Speaker 1: several other actresses, possibly.
- 59:43Speaker 3: Look up Emanuel Chickery and that's who she looks like
- 59:45Speaker 3: to me.
- 59:45Speaker 1: It's a little bit of another tab or something. Yeah, yeah.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Pretty damn close.
- 59:50Speaker 3: So to me, I'm like, that's the chick from Wrong Turn.
- 59:52Speaker 3: I know it is. Ah, damn, it's not.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Maybe she's like a half-sister and they don't know about
- 59:56Speaker 1: each other. Breaking news. She's a clone.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: You heard it here first.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: It might be that whole Natalie Portman, you're a Keira
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Knightley thing.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: And I really, back to the movie, I really adore
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: New Chekhov. I can't remember his real name.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Anton Yelchin. Anton Yelchin.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: I liked him a whole lot better in this than
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I did in Fright Night.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I liked him in Fright Night.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I hated Fright Night.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: See, that's the thing. I'm in the minority, I'm assuming,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: because I actually liked that Fright Night movie. It doesn't
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: compare to the other one, but it's... Again, that's one
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: of those, and I've gotten very different on remakes these days.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I don't just throw them all out. I like What's-His-Name.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Which one? Oh, Fright Night. Colin Farrell. But again, he's
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: playing a douche, so it's okay for him to be
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: a douche in the real world.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Colin Farrell was more tolerable in that movie than Evil Ed.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: I fucking hate that guy.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: Again.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I hate that guy.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I mean, Evil Ed's annoying in there.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: I hate that guy in general. In every movie he does,
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: I hate him.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Yeah, he's kind of annoying.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Like in the kick-ass movies, hated him.
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: Hate him.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: But yeah, I love.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: He's got that face you want to just punch. And Tom.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: And Tom. He is awesome. And again, I thought he
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: did a good job in Fright Night, so it's funny
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: to watch him doing kind of... He just sort of
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: shifts the... It's not vampires, it's ghosts. He's still sort
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: of making these weird, like, supernatural sort of actions.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And who else did I love in this movie? Everybody knows.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Willem dafoe will do anything and i love and i'm
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: not well that's the thing i'm watching this and i'm
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: just like how did he end up in this movie
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: like they're working with a pretty limited budget it feels
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: like and i'm just like maybe he likes the story
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: i was like how do you just get i mean
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: like he ends up and i'm not trying to make
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: a specific reference to this movie he ends up in
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: some odd titles and i'm just like there's so many
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: times when i'll be like wait and willem dafoe is
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: in this too like he just I don't know how
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: he picks and chooses his stuff. Because he'll be in, like,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: big blockbusters at some point. And then, yeah, he'll end
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: up in... This seems like a pretty low-budget movie to me. And, like,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: somehow they convinced Willem Dafoe he needed to be in it.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Roulette wheel. Might be it. He's pretty damn fun in it.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I like him. I would watch Willem Dafoe in probably
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: just about anything. I would.
- 1:02:22Speaker 10: I would.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: I adore him.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: He's always fun. Sometimes he's super committed and, like, really...
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: You can tell he's just, like, killing himself to make
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: this movie. And then other times it just seems like
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: he shows up and they probably give him.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: A nice check.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: He seems like he had fun with this one.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: But he didn't, like, put too much effort into it.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Well, he didn't have much to do, really. Especially halfway
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: into the movie.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: He yells a lot.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: He sort of disappears.
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: But, I mean.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: He probably had another movie to go shoot. They were
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: just like, how about if we get you shot or something?
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: Yeah. I liked it, though. I mean, I liked. And
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: I got it. This is one of the, like. I
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: don't know if I should get towards the end or
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: not or just leave it, but this is one of
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: the few movies that everybody gets all, I just got
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: a little sniffly in it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I guess we can come back to that. But I'll
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: say I didn't see that end coming, especially in this
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: kind of movie. See, I didn't see it coming either.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I saw it coming.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Of course you did, because that's the way you are.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: And I was like, boyfriend, guess what?
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: You probably read it on the internet first because you
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: like to spoil things for yourself.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: Surprisingly enough, I did not.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: No, she didn't read it on the internet. And I
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: didn't really know anything about this movie. She was just like,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: we're going to sit down and watch a movie. And
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I was like, what's it going to be? And she's like,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Odd Thomas. And I was like, okay, whatever. It sounds
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: like a weird children's movie. All right, let's sit and
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: watch it.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: I was kind of leery, I'm not going to lie,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: because it was just a couple days after my decision
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: to watch my fantastic fear of everything. So I was
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: kind of leery. I'm like. Is this going to be
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: another one of those movies?
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I still like that movie.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: I don't like that movie. But anyway, I was kind
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: of sad because I'd heard that originally, because this is
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: a series of books.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: There was like, I don't know how many books there
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: were in the series.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I mean, it feels like it's part of a much,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: especially the end, they reference it. But even midway in,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: it feels like this is one of those that you
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: could have. Like, here's another adventure for Odd Thomas. It
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: seems like it could be a whole ongoing series of movies, too.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: But I have heard that they're not going to because... Well,
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: because I think it sat on shelves for a while,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: so I think at the time they could get Anton
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: for a lot less. And now that he's done, I
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: don't know if this was made before the Star Trek
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: movies were made, but it was definitely made before the
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: last one was made.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely the sequel.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: So now it's like between that, and it seems like
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: there was something else he did that's kind of maybe,
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: I don't know if he did, after Fright Night.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Fright Night and that, and then I know he was
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: in that other crazy relationship-y movie. I can't remember if
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I've seen him in anything else. I'm sure he has
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: been there.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: But now they're not going to be able to get
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: him for what they got him for the first time.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Again, it doesn't look bad, but this definitely doesn't look
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: like there's millions and millions of dollars thrown at it.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: It looks like a pretty reasonable budget. Yeah. As you
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: look at it, it's not.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Skimped on anywhere like the sets look real like every
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the actors look like a professional the special effects look
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: really good like that's where they didn't skimp at all
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: but like i was just looking at the sets i'm
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: like this is not like a multi-million dollar production it's
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: just like a pretty well put together you know mall
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: set that they put you know so i mean it's
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: like it seems like it was a limited budget so
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: it doesn't it doesn't surprise me that now that now
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: that he's going to be going for a lot more
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: i guess it could be worse they could just randomly
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: cast some new person which probably would not be a good.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: Idea probably not no but yeah i mean the special
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: effects in the bodox that's where that i guess they're
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: like the things that he sees when things bad are
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: going to happen they don't hurt people but they're there
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: when people are hurt they like to feed off the
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: pain and death and all that stuff so those those
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: creatures and those were fucking amazing those were creepy and
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: they were well done and you're not like oh look
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: at that cg monster It's not like a sci-fi original
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: monster or anything.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: It actually isn't. For, again, for as limited a budget,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: it's like that's almost what they started out with. Okay,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: we have to make these look good, and then we'll
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: work everything.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Else around that.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: So, yeah, they did a really good job on the books.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: I really liked those. I thought that they were creepy.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: I thought that they were effective in being creepy. The
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: opening scene, I still love the opening scene with the girl,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: the little girl. It's creepy, and it's like, oh, That's
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: what made me decide, all right, we're sticking with this movie.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: We're not going to skim through it looking for things.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: We're just like, we're going to sit, we're going to
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: watch this whole thing, and I'll be damned. It's a
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: damn fine movie.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it was pretty good. The way it was shot
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: was really good. Yeah, that's the thing. I was going
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: to see what your thoughts were on it, because it's
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: very specific in the way that it does its weird
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: transitions between scenes, and then it's editing. It will cut
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: really fast from this to that. So I don't know.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: What were your thoughts on the... edits and the cuts
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: and the weird way that it... I liked it. It
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: did almost in a way feel comic book-ish. And that's
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: what made me say that. I was like, maybe they're
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: feeding off you know, the fact that it's a comic book,
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: but I'm like, I was like, I don't think so.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I was like, I thought it was more of a book.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Well, what about, yeah, it is a book. I'm just
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: wondering about the guy who directed it and the guy,
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: the guy who directed it more than just what, what
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: else has he done? Has he done anything?
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: That's the other thing. Cause the Kate and the name
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: came up at the end. I'm like, I know that.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I'm like, why do I know that? Cause I feel
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: like it's cheesy stuff.
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: And then I clicked on it a minute ago. It
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: was just like, oh yeah. Yeah.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: G.I.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Joe, Rise of Cobra, The Mummy movies, Van Helsing, Deep Rising.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: I was just like, oh.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: And then you get Catch Me If You Can.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: But not that one.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because the Spielberg one's later than that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Which one was the Rise of Cobra? Was that the
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: first or second one?
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: The one we did not watch.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Oh, okay, yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: We watched Retaliation, and it was awesome.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I liked Retaliation.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: So that's why I had nothing to do with it.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Oh, really? Rise of Cobra is not really a good movie.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: But I never really liked the Mummy movies either. So
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I'm just like, I don't... You know, I kind of
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: like the Mummy movies. I'm really embarrassed saying this. I
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: wanted to... But I'll sit and watch them. Yeah.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Um.
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: And I can get into those more than I can
- 1:08:16Speaker 8: Van Helsing.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Oh, my good God. We tried to go back and
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: watch Van Helsing.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: We watched it in its entirety.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: We watched it in its entirety and was like, holy shit,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: this was a bad movie. Why did we watch this again?
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: How did this get made?
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Exactly. They put out a lot of shit for that movie, too.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: They put out Van Helsing toys. They put out video games.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I've got the fucking Xbox game. Yeah, that was their
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: big movie of the year. And the Xbox game was
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: actually kind of fun, you know, but. I got stuck
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: at this one part and then I just turned it
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: off and haven't touched it since. But, you know, it's just, oh, wow, really? Ah,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: the mummy movies, they're, you know.
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: They're like, okay, you know, like we were talking about
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: Resident Evil. It's like Resident Evil. You go into it
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: and knowing what it is, you know.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Come on. You know it's not going to be an
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Oscar winner, so I'm not going into it.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: It's got Brendan Fraser in it.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: That's my main problem. You see, you know, I don't
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: like Brendan Fraser.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: You like it when he claps.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I don't want to say that I don't like him
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: he's an okay guy he seems like a nice enough
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: guy in the real world he seems like a nice
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: guy in the real world but I can't be convinced
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry you're still Encino man to me and you
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: will always be Encino man.
- 1:09:36Speaker 8: So I can't picture him as being this kind of
- 1:09:39Speaker 8: swashbuckling guy running around Egypt I mean it's fun I
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: always watch the Mummy movies and go, wow, this would
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: be a great movie if it had somebody else besides.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Brendan Fraser in it. But I can't think of who.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: Nathan Fillion.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: That would be a good one. That would be awesome.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Done and done. Let's remake them. They love to remake shit.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Let's remake the Mummy. Do it now. Remake the Mummy.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I mean, seriously.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Don't you think Nathan Fillion could... I'm murdering his last name, but.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I would buy it. Again, I... Well, and that was
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: part of the problem is like you're also like... I
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: remember seeing that first one and I'm just like, this
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: so hard wants to be an Indiana Jones movie. It does.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: And it's not. It's just not written to that level.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: It's not, it's no offense to Summers, it's not directed
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: to that level. It's just, it's so mediocre and like
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: you throw Brendan Fraser in the middle of it, it hurts.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: It's so bad. Think about this. Remember when Indiana Jones
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: came out? Remember all the clones that came out after
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Indiana Jones? The Alan Quartermains. Alan Quartermains. You had the
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: The Chuck Norris even tried to do it too. Fire Walker.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I own that somewhere. Jewel of the Nile. Those were actually,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: they were different.
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: Jewel of the Nile was a little bit different, but
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: it was trying to cash in on the same thing.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: It definitely was. Gosh, there was another one. What was
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: the other one? The King Solomon's Mine. Was that Alan Corden?
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: That was Alan Corden.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: See, that's another one of those. I wanted to like that. Again,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: it's feeding off that same general idea that the Indiana
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Jones thing took off with, but like, No offense to
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: people who love Chamberlain, but, like, I thought he was
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: terrible in that role. Like, he just so was not
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: the tough guy lead that you needed. Like, I didn't
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: buy him. Sharon Stone was annoying. Like, it's that same thing. So,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, all of this leading back to, like,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I'm surprised how much I liked the direction... Romancing the Stone.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: That was the other one, too. Still dueling now. Yeah,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: still dueling now. But, yeah, how much I liked the
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: direction in Odd Thomas. Like, I was surprised... And maybe
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: it's just because it's got a more likable cast involved.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: You swim enough times, eventually you're going to hit one.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I don't know. In a way, maybe he just does
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: cheesier directing in all of those, and the other ones
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: just didn't save it. But this one, it just kind
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: of fit. And again, the story itself feels like a
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: weird comic book-y thing, so it works better with this, maybe.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I don't know. But to me, this is more entertaining,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and it works better. with his weird smash cuts and
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: his weird little animation going from one scene to the other.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: And occasionally, he does, like, a legitimately good shot. That
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: big shot that goes around Odd as he's in the
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: middle of the mall at the end is fucking awesome. Like,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: I just sat there going, that's just a good shot,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: regardless of, you know, whether or not the rest of
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:12:24Speaker 8: See, I like the opening shot, too, where the little girl, like,
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: he looks at the little girl, and then he turns
- 1:12:30Speaker 8: and he runs, and then it shows the little girl, um,
- 1:12:35Speaker 8: I guess at that point, does it show her in
- 1:12:37Speaker 8: her tattered face, like what she looked like when she died?
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: And then it kind of, in the background, it's faded
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: out of him chasing that guy down the street.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: You know, I think that's a good shot. I keep
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: feeling like I've seen that one shot before. The one
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: in the mall.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Standing there circling. It's familiar. I mean, a lot of
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: them have tried it. I can't think of exactly where
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I've seen it. I think it's in several movies. But, again,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: you can't always do it effectively.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: No.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I think it is in this one. He does a
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: good job with it.
- 1:13:10Speaker 11: I may see dead people, but then, by God, I
- 1:13:13Speaker 11: do something about it.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: Well, also, again, I was going in, like, by the
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: time he gets to that little intro there. And you
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: get him, like, because at first you have no idea. Like,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: if you don't know the book, you just kind of
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: come in and, like, why is he looking at this
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: little girl? And it's, like, it's only then when he, like,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: starts calling the guy out for murdering her. And then you're, like, okay,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: so this is, like, if the sixth synth grew up. Yeah.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: This is him, like, a few years later, like, now
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: he's going to beat people up and start solving crimes
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: and shit.
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: Well, he starts to explain it, too. At least he's
- 1:13:41Speaker 8: explaining it. And he does a good narration throughout the
- 1:13:44Speaker 8: whole thing.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: There's a lot of voiceover.
- 1:13:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Like, way more than most movies that have voiceover. But
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: it didn't bug me. Which, that's what I was going
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: to ask, because it seems like that would be something
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: that normally would piss you off.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: No, it didn't bug me at all.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: So I was, yeah, I was surprised. Well, if he's
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: a likable character.
- 1:13:59Speaker 8: I mean, if you had somebody that you didn't like
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: doing voiceover, you know, like, if you had a movie
- 1:14:05Speaker 8: that had that one guy that you don't like from
- 1:14:07Speaker 8: Kick-Ass doing a complete voiceover in his head.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: I hate that guy.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Then you wouldn't like it.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: I can remember that guy's name, but I don't like him.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Whatever. But at least this works. I think in this one, yeah,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: it does. Again, getting pieces from other movies, it at
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: some point reminded me of Fletch. Maybe because I just
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: kind of went back and watched part of Fletch recently,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: and I forget how good a movie that first one is.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Never seen it.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: But it's really good. It's a really good movie. But
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: it's him solving a mystery, and there's tons of voiceover.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: It's him explaining what he did and what he was thinking.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I didn't even think about that. It felt very much
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: like a Fletch mixed with Dylan Dog. I remember you
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: kind of liked that one, too. To me, this seems
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: like that supernatural solving crimes kind of thing.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: Did I like it?
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: You liked Dylan Dog. It was one of the few
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: times Brandon Roush isn't obnoxious.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: His chin still bugs me.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: He kind of bugs me a lot.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: It's too dented.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: He's... Certain roles I've decided... You're like this friend that
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: was a zombie.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I did like him. He was from what else? The.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Being Human? Yeah, the American Being Human.
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: Which I hated that show. I think.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I didn't hate it. I only got through the first season.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: And then I didn't have that channel. Did we watch
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the British show?
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: We liked the British one until.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: I liked the British one.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: Until the season started. I think a different season started.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: But yeah. It's like... I was pleasantly surprised. I had
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: never heard anything about this movie. Odd Thomas. I had
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: never seen a trailer for it. I had never heard
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: of it existing. Me either.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: I didn't even hear about it.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: And it popped up on the Netflix Watch It Now.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, I like that guy. I want
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: to make Boyfriend watch this because Boyfriend won't make a decision.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: So Misty's going to make it.
- 1:15:47Speaker 8: Girlfriend doesn't want to watch movies that Boyfriend wants to watch.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Well, usually I'm like, Boyfriend, what do you want to watch?
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: He's like, oh, I don't know.
- 1:15:54Speaker 8: Because I'm trying to save you from movies that you
- 1:15:56Speaker 8: don't want to watch.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: You're not going to want to watch Where Eagles Dare.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: You don't know.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: You have learned things over the years. You're not going
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: to watch.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: I probably would have rather watched that than a fantastic
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: fear of everything.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: You just have to part or run deep, run silent.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I can see some of the older ones you're getting into.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Depends on if they have a hot guy in them.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: If there's a hot enough guy in it, give me
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: some young Clint Eastwood.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: That was young Clint Eastwood, Eagle's Dare. A lot of
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Nazis die in that movie.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I like when people die.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Well, this one, a lot of people. A lot of
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: dead people wandering around.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: I know. And it seems like I was picturing in
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: my head, I couldn't help thinking that Tom Waits would
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: have been a better creepy guy, like the fungus guy.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Fungus, yeah. It seems like, yeah, it's like we can't
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: really afford Tom Waits, but he would have been really good.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: He would have.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: But he's pretty good at everything.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, he is. Did you ever watch, was it Seven Psychopaths?
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: The rest of that movie is fucking retarded, but Tom
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Waits and his, was it Bunnies?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: His Bunnies, yeah.
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: His Bunnies.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: But anyways, yeah, that guy, the fungus bob in Odd Thomas,
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: seems like it was a role that could have been
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: played better by Tom Waits. But, I mean, this guy
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: wasn't bad. There wasn't much.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, he was just... He had to look creepy, basically.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: He was creepy.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: He just looked slobby. Yeah. He looked slobby. He looked
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: like a guy I went to school with. But, uh...
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: He's probably still stalking me to this day.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: But, yeah, there's a lot going on in this movie.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Well, that was one I was going to ask, because, like,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I do like... any time a movie, or I guess
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: this comes from the book probably, the fact that it
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: sets up its own world, more or less. And it
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: gives you this system that everything works on, and it
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: gives you almost these set rules of how the character
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: has to, you know, work within this so we get
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: the weird, you know, creatures running around. And he's explaining why,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: you know, they're attracted to, you know, the horrible suffering
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: that's going to happen. So I don't know. I kind
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: of like that stuff. So what was, I don't know,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: what were your thoughts on the whole way that it
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: sets up the system.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: I liked it, and it worked, and it's like, I
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: don't know, I like the little world where this took place,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: and it's, I don't know, because it sets it up
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: so nice, and it seems so, I don't know, because
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: it's too perfect.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: It's a happy little desert town.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: It's very happy.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Knowing that something that's as bad, because through what he's seen,
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: you know that something bad's coming, but you're like, But no,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: everything is.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: So good. The town, they make the town so nice
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: and so likable that you want to go there. You
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: like the diner. I want to go eat at the diner.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: He seems like a fantastic cook.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I want to see him flip spatulas around and stuff
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: like that. It's very silly at that point. It is silly.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I was surprised how far they took it with the
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: crazy antics of what he was doing.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: I'm like, this overly done he.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Was pushing it when he's like squirting the stuff into
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: the cup i was like that okay that's pretty silly
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: up until then i could see the stuff like the
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: eggs okay if you're good you can do that i've
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: been to enough hibachi grills and i even wanted to
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: be a uh what.
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: Is it a tabernacle chef or a bocce chef But
- 1:19:09Speaker 8: I wasn't Asian enough for this fucking place down in Florida.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: You fuckers. And they went the next day and hired
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: this guy. I'll work on that. No, they hired this
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: redheaded guy. And I was like, this is owned by
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: these Korean people. And I was like, I think it's
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: just because they hated me because they knew I was
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: half Thai. There's something about, I don't know if we
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: got any Korean listeners, but most of the Koreans that
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: I met, they don't like Thais. They don't like Chinese.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: And now they don't like us.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: And Japanese and stuff like that. But the other guy's like, no,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: you're not Asian enough. And I was like, what about
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: that fucking guy? He's not even Asian. What is he, Irish? Irish, Asian, whatever.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: He's more Asian than you.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Must be. Fuck.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: He's Asian on the inside.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: And so I went to work at a junkyard. But yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I like this little town. They didn't care.
- 1:19:55Speaker 10: You know?
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: But yeah.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: I like this little town. That's why you're like, I
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: want them to save this town because I want it
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: to be there when I go there.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Look at their mall.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: They've got the, the town is very nice.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: It's very clean. That town did not seem big enough
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: to have a mall that big.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Maybe it was on the outskirts and it was a
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: tri-county mall. I don't know. No, it seemed very, uh,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: because it was within, I don't know.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Within walking distance of Vegas.
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: No, I don't know.
- 1:20:24Speaker 8: You don't know how long he walked cause he walks everywhere.
- 1:20:26Speaker 8: He doesn't have a car.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: Remember?
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Um, The town seemed almost like the town in Back
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: to the Future a little bit, the way things were
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: set up. I mean, you had the huge town center,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: the little park area, and then all the little shops
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: were around the outskirts of it and stuff like that.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: At any point did he run into Mayor Goldie Wilson? No,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: he didn't. That's a good idea. I can't get that
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: out of your head. Well, not after sitting next to that.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: Our last little table shot.
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: I know, I was only there for a couple hours
- 1:21:06Speaker 8: and that drove me up the wall.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: How many times did I hear Mayor Goldie Wolf? I
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: was like, I got a multi-tool here. I can just
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: reach back behind this curtain and cut this guy's wires. Okay,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: on that note, do we want to get to the
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: hot wiring?
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Every car that he gets in is just conveniently ready
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: for him to hotwire.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Who is the lady that he kept going, I'm going
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: to borrow your car.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Why wouldn't he have keys? Why is she okay with
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: him hotwiring?
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: First of all, if he does that often enough that
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: he says, I'm going to borrow your car again, why
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: wouldn't you just have keys made? And why wouldn't she
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: be okay with that versus him busting into her wiring?
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: But at least then it's like, okay, he's done this before,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: so the wiring's left out so he can get to it.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: I still don't know why it would just be exposed
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: like that and run, but Okay, whatever. But like when
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: he gets to the truck at the end or that van. Yeah.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Within like a half second, the wires are in his hand.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I'm just like, wait a minute. Well, you look down,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: he didn't even have to pull them out. No, they
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: were just in his hand. It's not that easy to hotwire.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: It's just little problems, you know.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Just a minor lapse in the, or a leap of faith,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: if nothing else.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: My major problem with this movie is I have never
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: seen that many people in a mall, ever. Not even St.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Matthews at Christmas.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Especially in a small town. It's pretty packed. That's the
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: only mall they've got, so, you know.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: I don't care if it's a one-day special sale. There
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: ain't that many guys here.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of people. It might have been a
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: really special sale. It said special sale.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Today only.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, today only. Special sale.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: That was my only problem. It's not going to be
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: that many people at the mall. Sorry. Unless everybody in Vegas. No,
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: everybody in Vegas is down at the fucking casino. They
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: are not in the mall. That was my biggest complaint.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Well, they weren't in Vegas.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: But they were right outside of Vegas, so it could
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: have been close enough.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: They were in a tiny little town. Maybe that day
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: they closed all the casinos. Everybody left and went to
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: the mall. They had to have a pack for maximum carnage.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: That wasn't your only problem with it, because you also
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: had a problem with the hole.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: What are you going to do with the hole?
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: How about you stick your hand in the hole?
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: Yeah, really.
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you walk into a room where all the animals
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: are dead, and there's this mysterious creepy hole that starts
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: to open in the wall with a strange blue light.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: What do you do? You shove your fucking fist in it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: That's what you do. You fist that motherfucker.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Well, there you go. That's our quote for this. Quote
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: for the episode, right there.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: You fist that motherfucker. I said it again.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: What are you going to do? You fist that motherfucker.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Is it going to be either that or you fist
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: that bitch? But I figured, I don't know. Either way, whatever.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Either way, it applies. He definitely fisted it.
- 1:23:42Speaker 15: I mean, he.
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: What are you trying to grab?
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: What's there to grab? Why are you not going to look.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: Through the hole?
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: Into another dimension.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: It's a hole that he had already seen the likes
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: of at the mall. Because when the fucking things disappear,
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: they come out of the ground.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: They look exactly like that. I'm like, you don't see
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: any of this?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Yeah, no. You know where this is going to go.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Either those monsters are going to come out and eat
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: your arm, or you'll get sucked into the hell dimension
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: that's opening up there.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: And get your face eaten off.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Neither of these is a good option.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Put your fist in the hole.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Damn it, Odd. Pay attention. Maybe he just had one
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: of those momentary lapses of stupidity. He does take a
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: lot of shots to the head before this thing's done.
- 1:24:24Speaker 10: Yeah, he does.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: He does get shot.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: And that, too.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: In the face. Just barely.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: He gets smacked around. I will say, I don't know.
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: By the T2 knockoff?
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Do what?
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: By the T2 knockoff. Because I thought the same thing.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: As the cop's running after the car. Have you seen
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: this boy?
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: As soon as he turned around in the garage, I'm like.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: Because one of the bodocks or whatever.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they can possess people.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Shh. And yeah, he does. And then there's this turnaround.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: I'm like, he looks like the Terminator guy. Because he
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: was wearing the whole outfit on. Even though it's more secure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: But yeah, I didn't like that guy. He was trouble.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Trouble from the beginning, I tell you.
- 1:25:10Speaker 11: When I'm with you, I don't have to worry about pancakes, poltergeists.
- 1:25:16Speaker 11: When I'm with you, I'm with my destiny. Where you live,
- 1:25:23Speaker 11: I flourish.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: Now what are we going to talk about?
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: The spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. The end.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: The end. Dun, dun, dun.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: The end that I didn't see coming.
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: That Brian didn't see coming.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: That only Misty saw coming. Mostly because of the rest
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: of the tone of it. Like, it's so fun and
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: cheery the whole rest of the way through. Actually, I
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: didn't catch it until, like, almost the end scene when
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: they're sitting at the table and eating. And I see
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: that her bowl is empty.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: And I'm like.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Fuck, she fucking died. Well, see, I did think that
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: when she stood up, like, behind the counter, and she
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: had the ice cream on her, I kept waiting for
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: it to go and pan a little further in, and then, like,
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: she's got this gut shot or something. So I did
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: kind of, like, I was kind of waiting for it
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: at that moment, and then they didn't go there, and
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, okay, well, I guess they're keeping it happy. Yeah,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: that's kind of the way I was, too. So for
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: the next, you know, few minutes, I was just like,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: all right, well, they're going to go super traditional, happy ending,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: and then they'll both go on and make sequels that
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: we know now isn't going to happen, but that's not
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: the way they went at all.
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: I really suspected it when he was in the hospital
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: and she was still wearing the outfit. I'm like, they
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: could have gave her a different shirt by now. She
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: should be wearing something else. And then when she didn't,
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: when they, when they, when him and her did not
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: speak the rest of the movie, I'm like, they made
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: a big point about him saying the ghost didn't talk.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: I'm like, they did not converse. I'm like, that's a boyfriend.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: She ain't talking. She's dead.
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: And that was yeah she ain't saying nothing they ain't
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: talking she's because.
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: They did they were very chatty throughout the whole movie.
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: She never shut up she never shut up and when
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: she wasn't talking i'm like all right they done killed
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: her off and they're just stretching it out yeah.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: They're they're going for maximum uh heartstring jerkage.
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: And i said i'm not gonna laugh I was teary.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: I've watched even the second time. I was like, oh
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: my God, I'm going to cry like a baby. And
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: I ain't cried in a movie since fucking Beaches. I
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: cry when.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: I have to watch it now, but it's for the
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: other reason. I can't believe I have to watch Beaches.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: Stop it, please. When I was like 10, I don't
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: even care. I was crying like a damn baby.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Well, it must have been cold there in my channel.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: Smart ass but anyways yeah it's hard for movies i'm
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: like you i'm like pretty unaffected i'm like all right
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: all right whatever.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I think i'm going the other way i'm getting sappier
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: as the years go i don't remember what it was
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: lately i was just like i was watching it i
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: was getting sucked in i was like really what movie
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: is this like this is the dumbest thing in the
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: world why am i getting suckered.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: In But the second time when I knew it was coming.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I made it worse.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, she's already dead.
- 1:28:10Speaker 7: I know it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I was getting teary-eyed. I was trying
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: to hide it, but I couldn't. I'm not crying now.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: You're just pretending.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: It's 1230 at night, and I'm tired. But, yeah, it's...
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: I don't know, I guess because I liked these characters
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: so much, and I liked her, even though, like you said,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: she didn't seem like she fit, but I kind of
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: liked that about her, because she didn't fit in that.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: I mean, like I said, it it wasn't such a
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: bad problem that i didn't like her and i didn't
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: like the movie it's just it was weird so again
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: it is one of those like it almost feels like
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: it was something more i kind of would have liked
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: to seen her go on and do more movies with
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: him which that wasn't going to happen anyway but it
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: seems like there could have been something that like ran
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: through is like it almost felt like if you go
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: back and watch like those movies in the 40s And, like,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: some of them are, like, it was, like, 30s and
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: 40s where you've got the dame that's generally talking fast and, like,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: she'll do that delivery that's just, like, non-stop and, like,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: almost doesn't fit with, like, you know, it's these gruff
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: guys that they pair up with and they're getting in
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: fights and stuff. And, like, I don't know. There's this
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: weird era in that, like, that period there where the
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: female lead almost doesn't fit with, like, the action going
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: on around it. And it almost felt like that. It
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: had that little twinge to it that was almost a
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: very classic Hollywood thing that I would have liked to
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: have seen it happen more. I didn't dislike it so much.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: I didn't want to see more of it. I'm just
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: trying to figure it out still. It didn't click 100%
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: and I'm still trying to work on it. But I
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: like her. I don't understand. It's confusing.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: And her actual name in the movie was like, was
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: it Brolin?
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: They only mention it like that one time, don't they?
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Because I thought it was weird too. I'm like, who
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: names their kids Stormy? Odd, you're already pushing it. Pretend
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: like it was a mix-up, bud.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: From what I understand, from what I read in the review,
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: she goes by Stormy just because she thinks that the
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: name that her mom gave her, Brolin or whatever, sounds
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: way too much like a Lord of the Rings character
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: or something.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: So Stormy's back.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: But it kind of matches her personality. She's different, you know,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: and I like that about her.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: Odd and Stormy.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: She wears those little shorts.
- 1:30:20Speaker 16: She barely wore those little shorts.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Goddamn. Mm-hmm.
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: See, I don't know that I would have liked any
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: of the girls that they had in the running. Lily
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Collins' eyebrows bug me.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Kat Dennings. It's a different, yeah.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: Too old.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: She can be fun, but she's a different, she's a
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: totally different. I like her in the Thor movies. Yeah,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: she's like a totally different style.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: Her boobs were too big.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: She would have made a slutty story. And she would
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: have knocked over. She would have knocked over odd. Emma
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: Roberts is good, but again... Kind of different. I think
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: they got the right girl to play this.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: It's just different.
- 1:31:00Speaker 13: I can't remember.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: I might have to go to the Wikipedia page to
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: get her.
- 1:31:03Speaker 8: The only other girl that I could think of that
- 1:31:05Speaker 8: would kind of be on the same level would be
- 1:31:07Speaker 8: the girl from.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Raising Hope.
- 1:31:11Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: That's not.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Visually, she's pretty close, actually. She's along the same lines.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: But her lines are kind of the same. Her delivery
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: on stuff. Her delivery's not far off, yeah.
- 1:31:20Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: That's not bad. I actually really like her. I wish
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: she hadn't done a ton of other stuff.
- 1:31:24Speaker 10: No.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: But she's really good on raising up.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: Well, apparently in the book, there was a lot more
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: that went on doing with, you know... Apparently, Stormy had
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: more of a backstory. Like, a lot more Broin. That's
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: her name. Broin?
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: Broin?
- 1:31:37Speaker 13: Broin?
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: B-R-O-N-W-E-N. Brown?
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: Brown?
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: Brown? He prefers to be called Stormy because she thinks
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: it makes her sound like less of an elf.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: I do have to say, I like the relationship in general,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: but I like even more so when it's, like, odd
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: by himself, completely just, like, sappily in love with her, and, like, shamelessly, like, Like,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: the blonde girl totally hitting on him. He's not even, like,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: not having it. He's not aware of it. Like, he's
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: just so in love with her.
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: Not even a blip on his radio.
- 1:32:14Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: I was like, that's kind of, again, I kind of
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: would have liked to see more with the two of them.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Maybe they'll just bring those two actors back. Squeaky, squeaky.
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: Maybe she'll be a ghost and come back and hang
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: out with them.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: In this movie that they're not going to make. Yeah.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: From what I understand, even Dean Kuntz approved this movie
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: and was like, yep. I like it. It's approved.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: My stuff doesn't usually make money. All right, I'll take this.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: This came out pretty good.
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: I do like some of his movies. I'm not even
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: going to lie. You watched Watchers with me. Yes, you did.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: It had a dog. There was a dog.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Please explain this movie to me again.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: There was a dog that apparently had been tested in
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: some kind of facility. And then there was a monster
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: that had a telepathic connection to the dog. Did you
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: not watch this? I know you watched this movie.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: I do not remember this movie.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: It had Corey Haim and a dog.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: I don't remember this movie at all. I watched it. Anyway,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Dean Koontz.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: Dean Koontz. He wrote a book about a girl with
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: bats and a vagina.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Well, one of those is pretty common. There are a
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: lot of bats.
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: I can't remember the name of the book. But I
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: know what it is. I'm afraid to Google.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: Bats and a vagina. Oh, wait. I'll do it. On
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: your computer.
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: Being coots and bats. I will go for coots.
- 1:33:36Speaker 7: Oh, no.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Go the other way.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: No. Coots and bats.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: But coots and vagina. No. Please put that into your
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: search history.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Bats and vagina. Bats and vagina. I like coots and vagina.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: You won't come up with the flying bats either.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: That is not helpful.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Just do images.
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: I made that mistake one time because I was trying
- 1:34:07Speaker 8: to look up some stuff on the 1950s 60s Cafe
- 1:34:16Speaker 8: racer scene And of course those guys were called the
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: Leather Boys You don't image.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Search Leather Boys By the time I typed it in
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: And hit enter You hit enter and went oh no
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Yeah it kind of sent And it went all the
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: way to my brain And my brain processed it It
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: went like this Ah no Okay that's not right Not
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: when I was one. So you tell people now.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: When it still comes up on your history. Well there, boys, huh?
- 1:34:52Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Good to know. Just keeping the NSA guessing.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: When I think about what's on mine. Well, because I tell...
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: All that.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Selena Gomez porn is what's on yours.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. But that's a given. That's the real thing
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I'm actually searching for. No, what's funny is when I...
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Because you've seen the stupid posts I do with these.
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: I will list every stupid thing that we say in
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: one big long list. But half the time I'm just
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: typing down the gibberish version of it. And I'll go
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: back and have it in Google and get the right
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: spelling for half the stuff we're saying. Or the names
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: of people. So by the end it's just that entire
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: list has now been thrown into my Google history. So
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: it's like these entire list of nonsense words that we say.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I'm just like. They can't have any concept of what's
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: really going on in my world. Yeah, they're like, what
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the fuck is up with this guy? What is, like,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: red flag? Like, what is wrong with this motherfucker? Fist
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: that bitch.
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm like.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: Well, that probably is a pretty commonly searched phrase.
- 1:35:52Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder sometimes what's going through the internet as
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: I type in all of this crap. I don't know.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: I've got somewhere on my computer a list of all
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: the NSA trigger words.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: It's a long list. It's probably in every one of
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: our show listings. It's a very long list. But, I mean,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: it has to click off in a certain... Like if
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: you just said, blah, blah, blah, hijack. It's not going
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: to pick up as much as if you entered hijack
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: and bomb and something else and something else altogether. How
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: about poop sex? Poop sex. What flag does that sit? Yeah.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: No flag. Puh flag.
- 1:36:40Speaker 10: Puh flag.
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: You're still not going to do the wig?
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: No, I'm not.
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: It might be The Vision is the book I'm thinking of, perhaps.
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: The Vision.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: The Vision. I'm not really sure, because nobody wants to
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: tell me if there's bats in it. And vaginas.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: Image search. Do it.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: Not gonna.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: I'm doing ragged on.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: I'm sure you are. I don't want to have to
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: read this book again to make sure I'm right.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Is there a slight synopsis of the book?
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: They don't specifically say bats with vaginas.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Don't half the bats have vaginas? They are mammals, right?
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: I'm not happy. Neither are the bats with no vaginas.
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: Never mind. I'll find it later and then nobody will care. Anyways,
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: Odd Thomas. I really liked it. I was pleasantly surprised.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: I would not recommend Fantastic Fear of Everything because it sucked.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: But Odd Thomas, I give it. I have two thumbs,
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: so I will give it two thumbs up.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: You can't see him at home, but she was holding
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: him up.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: I was. It's pretty fantastic. Really close to the microphone,
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: so you should be able to hear. I rubbed him
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: on the microphone, but you probably couldn't hear that either.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: I snapped to ease my thumb, so there you go.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Two snaps up. You're going men on film now.
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: Two snaps, a twist. And a kiss.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: Speaking of Leather Boys. All right. So, I think that
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: was my reaction, too. Like, I didn't go in with
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: a bad expectation, but I did kind of go in limited.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: I told you it was good. Did you not like
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: this movie?
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Well, it was before. No, before you even said that. Like,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: I remember looking at the video box. Yes, in a
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: video store. And I was just like, oh yeah, this looks, yeah,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: there's a few of them. I hang out at one.
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: Two.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: There's a couple in the country. There's a few still
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: going strong. More power to you guys. But, no, I
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: remember kind of thinking it could go either way. You know,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: it's like this could be really fun and just sort
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: of flew under the radar, or it could just be
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: a really low-budget train wreck that somehow they suckered Anton
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: into doing. But, no, I think I was surprised at
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: just how... It comes together, the special effects were good,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: and I think that is the main part of it
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: that ends up making it so likable, is that it
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: keeps a fun tone throughout it. I think even when
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: you add in the music theme that they use, it's
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: not what you would expect in this kind of movie.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: It's a very different sound and style. It fits the area,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: I guess. It fits the place that they are. but
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: not necessarily this tone of movie, and I think that
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: helps it. I think that gives it its own different
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: spin and a different feeling that you get that kind
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: of makes it more fun along the way than if
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: they tried to be super serious with a story that
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: isn't really serious.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: So I think they realized the kind of movie they
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: were making, and they kept the whole thing fun until
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: you get to the very end, and it's not so fun.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: But I don't know. I think that's why I ended
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: up liking it the whole way through is it knew
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: it was a fun movie, and it made a fun movie.
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: And it was sad.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: And then it became sad. Just to mess with you.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Like, abruptly.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Just to mess with you.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: Because it's like, you think, alright, everything's cool, everything's cool.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: Oh my god, no. This isn't a happy ending at all.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: Because even if you suspect it, you're like, alright, maybe not.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: Because it's like, they trick you. They trick you hard.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Well, and then I thought maybe because they were together forever,
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: so I thought maybe they were going to end up
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: being in that little place forever. Or maybe he'd gotten killed, too,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: and they really were going to be together. Like, I
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: kind of thought for a second when they showed that she, like,
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: when they came in, and I was like, oh, maybe
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: they're both dead, and this is their, you know, this
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: is their heaven, more or less, is they're going to
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: be together forever, and that's the way they want to
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: spend eternity.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: But they had seen people interacting with him.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but I just thought they were going to find
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: some weird way to, like, work around that and make
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: this their together forever scenario, which they really didn't do,
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: so that machine was a total lie.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: The hell you say? All the fortunes I've gotten, you're
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: telling me they're not true?
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Well, what do you mean? Why would they not be
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: together forever? Because now she's gone. He's got 80 years
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: until he gets back with her. But that doesn't mean
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: that they won't be together forever. I mean, he's going
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: to die. Except for those 80 years. That's a part
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: of one damn time. That's, you know, 80 years. I'm
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: not saying it's not realistic.
- 1:41:03Speaker 8: 80 years in forever is a tiny, tiny amount.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: I'm sad and I want to hang out with Stormi
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: more than them.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: And do you blame them? I'd want to hang out
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: with her.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: I'd hang out with Stormi right now.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: I mean, I like her in theory. But I'm sure
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: that if I had to hang out with her on
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: a regular basis, I'd be like, all right.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: You need to stop talking so much.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: But that's just me, unlike most people.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: I was kind of okay. Again, I was okay with her.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: I liked her, but if I had to deal with
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: her in the real world, you know what I mean?
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: I still might be okay with her. I think it's
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: a hit and miss sort of thing. Some people can
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: take that too far in the real world, but it's
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: almost a case-by-case basis for me. She was still on
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: the good side. Granted, it was only 90 minutes or so,
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: but still, she was still on the good side.
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, like I said, that's the thing
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: that made the movie for me is that I really
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: liked the characters. You know, because usually in the movie
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't like that guy. I don't like
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: that girl. I want them to fucking die. But I'm like,
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: I really like these people. You know, I really liked
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: her and I really liked them together and I really
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: wanted them to have the happy ending. You know, and
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: then the fact that they trick you into thinking that
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: you're getting the happy ending, even though you're like, Hmm,
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Something's up. She's not eating enough ice cream.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: She's not eating her cereal.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: What the hell? That's my friend Rick posting shit. He's
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: been dead for a year.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: Why don't you hate when that happens?
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: I don't know. That's a good trick, though.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: Why didn't they teach that one to Stormy?
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: Maybe Stormy's still out there posting stuff.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: I know. But yeah, you know, that's, I don't know.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: I mean, that's what usually makes the movie for me,
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: whether I like the character. Because like I said, usually
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: if there's a character that I'm like, alright, I could
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: like this movie, but I really don't like that person.
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: You know, I think if they had cast anybody else
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: in either of the roles, I'd have been like, whatever, dude.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: You didn't care.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: I wouldn't have cared, but I really liked them together.
- 1:42:56Speaker 10: Sad.
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: But I recommend it, so watch it on the television.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Or a computer.
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: Or a computer. Or on your phone or your tablet.
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: I really don't care.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Just watch it. I don't recommend those last two. Anything
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: smaller than a computer screen you're pushing your like i.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: Don't know my tablet's pretty good i guess that's your
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: call it is get.
- 1:43:19Speaker 13: You a big ass fucking 80 inch tv and you
- 1:43:21Speaker 13: watch that shit and you watch it big do it
- 1:43:24Speaker 13: i wish they would do more but i know it's
- 1:43:26Speaker 13: not gonna happen so it's like part of me is
- 1:43:28Speaker 13: kind of glad because would i like them or would
- 1:43:30Speaker 13: i just be disappointed you know because without stormy in
- 1:43:32Speaker 13: the equation is it gonna would it have.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: The charm And then are they going to have to
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: feel the need to fill that hole and bring some
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: new girl in? And then that totally cheapens their whole
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: relationship and this together forever thing.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: And they'll be like, bitch, you ain't storming. Keep on trucking.
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: It really does make it hard to do anything else
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: without her and still have any heart to it.
- 1:43:52Speaker 10: Then it's just.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Some random adventure that he goes on by himself. So, yeah.
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: Because that's what they set it up for at the end.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Big old, we already spoiler alerted the whole damn thing.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: He's going to go to Vegas and try to help
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: all these ghosts that are down there. And would it
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: just be continual adventures? But most people, you can't have it.
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: 98% of the time, they want to try to force
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: in a romance. Even if you don't really need it
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: or if it's not really, you know.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: That's just how movies work.
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: You know, so. I don't want them to try to
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: replace her.
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: I think that would, again, that would totally cheapen the
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: whole of the story. It's like their whole building of
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: the relationship, their whole plan to be forever 80 years
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: from now.
- 1:44:30Speaker 8: I don't think if they ever did a remake that
- 1:44:34Speaker 8: they would try to force another girl in and cheapen
- 1:44:36Speaker 8: the thing. I think they might try to.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Remake or a sequel. No, but I was going to
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: say they may.
- 1:44:42Speaker 8: try to work her in as someone who constantly comes
- 1:44:46Speaker 8: into his dreams or whatever.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: In the book, Elvis' ghost hangs out with him. Why
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: can't Stormy.
- 1:44:52Speaker 8: Well, she goes on to a better place, but why
- 1:44:54Speaker 8: can't she visit?
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: Why can't Elvis go to a better place? Elvis.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: I don't know. He just wants to hang around and
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: get sandwiches and stuff.
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: Can ghosts eat sandwiches?
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: No.
- 1:45:02Speaker 10: Well, then.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking. Maybe she comes back. Maybe she, like,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: jumps in the bodies. See, now that I could be
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: on board for.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Can they do that?
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: She could be a body-jumping ghost.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: Eh, whatever.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: And then it'd still be stormy, but it would be
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: alive in a different body.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: But I bet that body wouldn't look as cute in
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: them shorts.
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: Eh, she looks pretty good.
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: Not gonna lie. But anyways, yes, watch this movie. Cry
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: like a little girl. I know you both did.
- 1:45:30Speaker 10: It's okay.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: I did. I didn't even go live.
- 1:45:34Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: It's a little watery.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're dead inside. You probably didn't even cry
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: during O'Giller.
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: Everybody cried during O'Giller.
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: I've never seen O'Giller.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: We were discussing that in one of the recent episodes.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: You're talking to a guy who put dogs and cats
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: to sleep for weeks.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: Oh, no more talking, boyfriend.
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Oh, that's the alarm. We've got to wrap this thing up. Otherwise,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: that about does it. We will return next week. Same
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:46:31Speaker 9: I'm here and I will reflect you Both of us
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: basically unattached to anything or anyone Unless we're pretending You
- 1:46:43Speaker 9: live your life in your head Some call it imagination
- 1:46:51Speaker 9: I'd rather focus instead on anything except.
- 1:46:56Speaker 10: What I'm.
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: You're never concerned with acceptance We are all desperately seeking
- 1:47:49Speaker 9: out and fitting.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: In with anyone who will accept us.
- 1:48:35Speaker 9: Gonna be okay Hey.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Gonna laugh at this one day.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: Don't let someone tell you you're new. Don't let someone
- 1:49:18Speaker 7: tell you you're new. I'm going to put the pants on.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Put the socks on. I'm not going to.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: Socks keep me warm.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: No pants.
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: You got on shorts.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Those kind of shows. Those are not pants.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: No pants.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: No pants.
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: No springs. No springs. I don't like that girl. She's
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: just so much of a fucking tree-hugging hippie. Let's go
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: dance in the woods eating clay. She eats clay.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Where did that come from?
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: What?
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: Like in the real world?
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: In the real world. Shailene, she goes out and she
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: eats fucking clay. I'm not making this shit up.
- 1:50:20Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: Okay. She sounds like an idiot.
- 1:50:24Speaker 8: So when the world collapses, I've got a list of people.
- 1:50:28Speaker 8: These are the first people that I'm going to end
- 1:50:29Speaker 8: up fucking shooting because I hate them.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Can I add to your list?
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: Yes, you can. Okay, I'll kill him too.
- 1:50:37Speaker 13: Her.
- 1:50:38Speaker 10: Her.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: I'm assuming you don't want this on the show. I
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: don't care. As the authorities are immediately alerted. I meant
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: kill them with kindness.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: And cookies. And cookies. And cookies.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: And rainbows. And rainbows. And poop sex. And poop sex.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: Oh, Lord.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: And the reason I got the poop sex was because
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: when we used to live down in Florida, somebody spray
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: painted poop sex on the side of the pier. And
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: when we were kids, we giggled about it for the
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: longest time. That one and somebody else spray-painted, Muttley Crew
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: is doo-doo. And that one cracked me up. Yeah, that
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: one's true. Later, yo.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: Good night. Andrew Garfield's a douche.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: That goes without saying, but feel free to say it again.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Andrew Garfield's a douche.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: Amen.
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: Fucking A. What do you do? You shove your fucking
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: fist in it. That's what you do. You fist that motherfucker.
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: Well, there you go. That's our quote for the episode
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: right there.
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: You fist that motherfucker. I said it again.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: What are you going to do? You fist that motherfucker.
