- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear.
- 0:17Speaker 2: When you're a.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Guest to my home, you gotta come to me empty.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And I said, no guests, you're our presences. Presents enough.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I already had too much stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So how do you dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm pretture winne girl.
- 0:55Speaker 3: We're here, we're doing our thing. I have success fully
- 1:00Speaker 3: checked into my Southwest Airlines flight. This time tomorrow I'll
- 1:04Speaker 3: be on a plane enjoying nothing. Seems like Southwest has
- 1:08Speaker 3: managed to make itself worse. I went through the new
- 1:11Speaker 3: process today. I've been you know, I've been saying not
- 1:15Speaker 3: good things, but fine things about this company for a
- 1:18Speaker 3: very long time. I've been telling everyone it's fine that
- 1:22Speaker 3: you have to rush onto the plane and fight for
- 1:24Speaker 3: a seat. Now I don't get to fight for a seat.
- 1:26Speaker 3: That was the thrill for me. Now I'm in a
- 1:29Speaker 3: middle seat. Oh but I will be stopping in Denver,
- 1:33Speaker 3: of course, on my cross country flight, my nine hour
- 1:37Speaker 3: trip to New York. And that's fine. That's how I
- 1:41Speaker 3: like it. I like a little stop. And is there
- 1:47Speaker 3: anything else happening? Gorgeous weekend had mildly pleasant experiences with
- 1:53Speaker 3: two deeply unpleasant people. So I'm counting that as a win.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And I think that brings us to today. Reminder, we
- 2:03Speaker 3: have Patreon Patreon dot com slash. I said, no gifts,
- 2:07Speaker 3: I mean the whole thing. It's just I mean, it's
- 2:10Speaker 3: just a library of magic and delight. So get over there,
- 2:15Speaker 3: and I think that's it. I love today's guests. I
- 2:18Speaker 3: absolutely love her. It's Patty Cockenheim, Patty, welcome to I said,
- 2:21Speaker 3: no gift.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Hi, thank you for I love you. I'm in love.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Is this a weird time to.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Tell you that?
- 2:27Speaker 3: No? I was hoping you would say this. Yeah, just
- 2:29Speaker 3: repeat it throughout the episode. You've had a morning?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Oh yes, I have.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I want to hear about this.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Well, it's fun that you started with flights. There's a
- 2:41Speaker 2: lot of flight I flew this morning.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Even what time did you get on the flight?
- 2:48Speaker 2: At six?
- 2:51Speaker 4: And we left at six?
- 2:53Speaker 2: It was supposed to be a last night flight, right
- 2:56Speaker 2: there was weather in Hoilston, and so that brought me
- 2:59Speaker 2: to one extra gifted night in Houston, and so then
- 3:04Speaker 2: an early morning and here I am.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I mean, why didn't you cancel? This is unbelievable.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Do you know what I was thinking about that on
- 3:13Speaker 2: the way, I was like, why no, because I don't
- 3:15Speaker 2: because I wanted to be here so bad.
- 3:17Speaker 3: That's very sweet you, Yes, you are in love with.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Me, And I also don't like to fly. I think
- 3:26Speaker 2: I was so burned early on in LA years where
- 3:29Speaker 2: it was like people say they're going to do things
- 3:31Speaker 2: and then they just don't do them. And so now
- 3:33Speaker 2: I'm like, if I'm say I'm going to be, if
- 3:36Speaker 2: I'm saying I'm gonna ben, I'm going to do it,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I acted.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I love to hear that. I'm I'm in a similar
- 3:43Speaker 3: boat where I just am like, I can't be part
- 3:46Speaker 3: of this prevailing culture of just like literally saying yes
- 3:48Speaker 3: exactly knowing when I say yes, I'm going to cancel.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I can't do that. No, I can't.
- 3:53Speaker 2: What are we even doing? Just be honest and tell
- 3:56Speaker 2: me no or yes and make it.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Happen, you know, yes, canceling. Two things I really can't
- 4:03Speaker 3: abide are canceling on occasion and not responding to an email.
- 4:08Speaker 3: These are two things that rarely happen. Well, they're not
- 4:11Speaker 3: responding to an email is such a rare thing. But
- 4:13Speaker 3: when that happens to me. I'm like, this person, who
- 4:16Speaker 3: are your parents?
- 4:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:18Speaker 3: Who raised you? Well?
- 4:20Speaker 2: What better do you have to do? Honestly, Like, I
- 4:26Speaker 2: don't know, there's really not an excuse. You have your
- 4:29Speaker 2: phone with you at all times this morning, noon, night.
- 4:34Speaker 2: There's no excuse, right, except that you don't respect me.
- 4:38Speaker 3: You don't respect me. I always, I will always give
- 4:42Speaker 3: like a two day threshold where I'll think, well, maybe
- 4:44Speaker 3: they're just healthy, maybe they have a healthy connection to
- 4:47Speaker 3: their device, right, and then it immediately flips to they're
- 4:49Speaker 3: the worst person in the worry.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe they're in Joshua Tree having a health silence retrieve.
- 4:55Speaker 2: But then do you ever send like a nudge, like
- 4:59Speaker 2: a oh? Those are kind of like I can't bring
- 5:04Speaker 2: myself to do it either.
- 5:05Speaker 3: It's such a it's like a once in a tenure
- 5:08Speaker 3: thing that I do that it has to be such
- 5:10Speaker 3: an important thing and I have to basically have a
- 5:13Speaker 3: relationship with the person where I'm like, I think that
- 5:15Speaker 3: this was an oversight.
- 5:17Speaker 4: I think I understand you enough to know you need this.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Right yeah, yea yeah, I mean otherwise I'm like working
- 5:24Speaker 3: towards getting that person in prison, finding ways how do
- 5:28Speaker 3: we ruin them.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Yes, what do I have for black Man?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah, exactly What were you doing in Houston?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Well, this is where it gets really awkward. I was
- 5:39Speaker 2: doing a comic con, which is such a have you
- 5:44Speaker 2: ever been to one?
- 5:45Speaker 4: Or Okay? There, it's such a world.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's you're like transported to a weird like a Lynchian type.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But Neon lights, it's nothing about it is like curated aesthetically.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Everything is like get into this convention center, it's Neon lights.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Oh right, but.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I do like I've only done I don't know four
- 6:16Speaker 2: and I've done them like once a year and that's
- 6:18Speaker 2: my absolute limit.
- 6:20Speaker 4: But it's it's it's it's you just I.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Like to put myself in really like awkward situations or
- 6:29Speaker 2: uh interesting where I know I'm going to take.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Some stories of something will happen.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, something's going to happen.
- 6:35Speaker 3: A new texture in your life or at least.
- 6:37Speaker 2: A moment, a new paint with a different color for
- 6:40Speaker 2: a weekend, and wow, so fascinating.
- 6:45Speaker 3: What is the experience You show up and then you
- 6:47Speaker 3: just like sit at a table. What's happening? I don't
- 6:49Speaker 3: think I've never been in once.
- 6:50Speaker 2: It's hard for me to even they have these things
- 6:53Speaker 2: down to a science where they're shuffling you around. So
- 6:57Speaker 2: you're at a table, you're doing signings and things, pictures
- 7:01Speaker 2: or whatever, like Funko pops and things, and then they
- 7:05Speaker 2: have you go to photo ops and everything's like scheduled
- 7:08Speaker 2: and people with headsets and like walkies and like everything's
- 7:11Speaker 2: and you're just getting shuffled. And then there's a green
- 7:14Speaker 2: room where everyone hangs out.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Okay, you know, and you're hanging out there during which
- 7:20Speaker 3: period when.
- 7:22Speaker 2: You when you're taking breaks, which is like you need
- 7:26Speaker 2: a lot of breaks because it's so much energy.
- 7:28Speaker 3: And is the break like they set them into the
- 7:30Speaker 3: schedule or do you just say I have to have
- 7:32Speaker 3: a break.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Both.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I mean, you get some set breaks and then you
- 7:36Speaker 2: be like I need break.
- 7:39Speaker 3: What's if you had any particularly weird experiences there?
- 7:42Speaker 4: Nothing?
- 7:42Speaker 2: But I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding, Like what well,
- 7:48Speaker 2: I mean yesterday I was at a table so I
- 7:51Speaker 2: did it with my CASTMATEE, which is like why it
- 7:55Speaker 2: makes it worth it because you're like there with somebody
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know for sure and you.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Love someone who can acknowledge the reality of that experience.
- 8:01Speaker 2: You can look over at each other and be like,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you know, there's just so much. So I went with
- 8:07Speaker 2: the cast mate and we were at this table and
- 8:10Speaker 2: all of a sudden, Dog the Bounty Hunter was there,
- 8:13Speaker 2: already off the charts.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the thing where it liked. It just
- 8:17Speaker 3: starts to break for me where I'm like, what does
- 8:19Speaker 3: he have to do.
- 8:19Speaker 2: With Comic Con? This is everything?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Was a fan?
- 8:23Speaker 2: No, he was there as a dog. I was like,
- 8:26Speaker 2: we need one dog. I don't know what, I don't know,
- 8:30Speaker 2: but he was there and it was just one of
- 8:34Speaker 2: the most bizarre interactions, and he basically was just like,
- 8:41Speaker 2: you could get the show. We were on his Twisted
- 8:44Speaker 2: Metal and it's coming back for a third season, and
- 8:47Speaker 2: he was basically like, you know, I think they need
- 8:50Speaker 2: a dog on that show. And he was like, he
- 8:53Speaker 2: gave me his info to get to the producers.
- 8:55Speaker 3: To get cast on the show.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yes, And it just got weirder and weirder and amazing,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and it was just amazing. And he gave me his
- 9:04Speaker 2: emails so I can get in contact with him. But
- 9:07Speaker 2: then later in the day they have like a massage
- 9:10Speaker 2: table for people like.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Fans to massage to.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Get your hands on your favorite peeps. Now for like
- 9:20Speaker 2: in the Green Rood when you need to break.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Okay, and now I'm sorry that I've given that idea
- 9:24Speaker 3: to comic on but continue.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Ah, now we can't do that. But I was getting
- 9:33Speaker 2: massaged for a moment, just a little like you know whatever, basic,
- 9:39Speaker 2: But I like opened my eyes for a second and
- 9:43Speaker 2: Dog was literally two feet away from me.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Just watch.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I was just like, I feel an energy of like
- 9:51Speaker 2: leather and a holster and like some blonde hair and glasses.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I could just feel something and I like, look was
- 10:00Speaker 2: right there and I was like, oh God, Dog's here.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And then he was just there for the remainder of
- 10:04Speaker 2: my massage, so relaxing.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Never been more relaxed. And then I just looked at it.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I was like hi, Dog, and he was like wow, Wow,
- 10:18Speaker 2: what wow? This is? I mean this is like two
- 10:25Speaker 2: minutes of the weekend where and that's that's one thing.
- 10:29Speaker 4: And then that, I mean just compound that.
- 10:31Speaker 3: For right, he's still alive. How old is this guy?
- 10:36Speaker 3: I remember like his show was popular in like two
- 10:40Speaker 3: thousand and six or something. Uh huh, and I remember
- 10:43Speaker 3: him looking like a beat up Hulkgan.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Then I'll you know, I'll show you well I'll show
- 10:48Speaker 2: you a pick and he you know he's doing he's
- 10:50Speaker 2: doing great.
- 10:50Speaker 3: And does he still have a show, do we think
- 10:52Speaker 3: or is he just now I don't know hunting bounties.
- 10:54Speaker 2: He did say he won't die on camera.
- 10:57Speaker 3: That's the one thing you won't do. That's not up
- 11:01Speaker 3: to you, dog dog.
- 11:04Speaker 2: If you want to get cast, you're gonna have to
- 11:07Speaker 2: be open for what they write for you.
- 11:09Speaker 3: He won't die on well did he tell you that
- 11:13Speaker 3: or me? It's like, how did you get to that?
- 11:17Speaker 2: I don't know. He just offered it. He did say
- 11:19Speaker 2: he can bark like he does, get a good bark, okay,
- 11:22Speaker 2: and then he won't die.
- 11:24Speaker 3: I'm starting to realize I don't know that much about
- 11:27Speaker 3: what dog the bounty Hunter is. Does he have a perm?
- 11:30Speaker 2: He has a blonde stick straight like bleach o, but
- 11:35Speaker 2: it is whole cogany, you right, it's in that yeah, okay.
- 11:39Speaker 3: And he's he's got to be like sixty five at
- 11:41Speaker 3: this pit, right, I.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Would pump it up.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he's at seventy. I don't know.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 11:47Speaker 3: And did you see if he was like again, I'm
- 11:49Speaker 3: sorry that I'm now you turning you into the expert
- 11:51Speaker 3: about him. Was he like at a booth?
- 11:54Speaker 2: I think so, yeah, I mean, I guess I don't know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: this is this is what it was. It was.
- 12:00Speaker 4: It was an interesting one.
- 12:01Speaker 2: It was like a lot of different, lots of different
- 12:05Speaker 2: kind of stuff going on, Like you got Patrick Warburton's
- 12:09Speaker 2: lovely and then you got the dog, and then you
- 12:12Speaker 2: got I don't know. It was just a very interesting
- 12:15Speaker 2: experience all around. And then Superman, like there are a
- 12:19Speaker 2: few Superman's there and and uh, yeah, I.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Just came straight from there, so I'm a little shook.
- 12:27Speaker 3: So wow, And you had kish, you.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Said breakfast, Yeah, yeah, Delta's finest.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I didn't know they were serving keisha at this point.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I guess that kind of makes sense. It's an airplane food.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You can microwave it.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, And it was like has a bacon right, and
- 12:50Speaker 2: like it's kind of scary, but I went for it,
- 12:53Speaker 2: and yeah, like a jelly. There was kind of like
- 12:56Speaker 2: a sweetness to it that I was.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Like, oh I do this.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I don't love that sweet sweet dish, sweet egg bacon dish.
- 13:04Speaker 2: So I don't know it's going to happen to you
- 13:06Speaker 2: in the next six I don't know. We'll see how
- 13:09Speaker 2: we'll check in after.
- 13:16Speaker 3: What else has been going on in your life outside
- 13:18Speaker 3: of comic coms?
- 13:21Speaker 2: So travel, I'm working on a fun show, The Lincoln Lawyer.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Oh, that's exciting, it's really fun. Are you travel Where
- 13:27Speaker 3: are you traveling?
- 13:29Speaker 2: Traveled to Hawaii?
- 13:30Speaker 3: Oh? I was in Hawaiian in January?
- 13:32Speaker 2: You were? Where'd you go?
- 13:34Speaker 4: I was there too in January?
- 13:36Speaker 3: Oh, my god, by han Yeah too. Wow. I wonder
- 13:42Speaker 3: if we were there at the same.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Time, but we were, well, I was early early Okay.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I think we were January fourteenth.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Okay, so maybe if we missed.
- 13:51Speaker 3: We took a big gamble because you know, it rained
- 13:54Speaker 3: so much during that time. Yeah, and it didn't barely
- 13:57Speaker 3: rained at all. Yeah, except for the one time we
- 13:59Speaker 3: went on a dangerous hike. It ranged the entire time.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Was it that cliff one where you're like.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, we're supposed to get up to a waterfall, but yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 3: we didn't quite get there, but my shoes fell apart.
- 14:14Speaker 3: But it was lovely.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And then we got to ride a tube down a
- 14:18Speaker 3: river thing.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Oh, that's fun.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Terrific experience.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That's so fun.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Had you been to Hawaii before?
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yes, we went last year to the same place and
- 14:28Speaker 2: I're hooked. I'm hooked quis.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Oh it's so beautiful, I mean, shocker, it's.
- 14:33Speaker 4: So beautiful, right, It's so.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Lush, and the food's great, everything's great, lovely. I felt
- 14:41Speaker 2: like my my body immediately like relaxed.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Oh I'm not capable of that. Oh no, no, that's
- 14:47Speaker 3: just that's not in my future. Just a constant tension.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I know, me too, That's why I have to go
- 14:56Speaker 2: to those places.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's going to lead to some later
- 14:59Speaker 3: life problems.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Do you have an aura ring or anything?
- 15:02Speaker 2: No? What's that?
- 15:04Speaker 4: It keeps trackier?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Oh the ring?
- 15:06Speaker 2: No?
- 15:06Speaker 3: I don't, do you I do? And do you feel like?
- 15:09Speaker 2: It's actually stressing me out?
- 15:11Speaker 3: It stressed me out so bad, just constantly thinking about
- 15:16Speaker 3: how to impress the ring.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I know. And now I'm in circles with people and
- 15:20Speaker 2: so people can see and they're.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Like they're texting, like are you okay?
- 15:25Speaker 3: So this is just kind of a thing.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's now become a wellness.
- 15:31Speaker 3: So it's kind of a social media thing, kind of
- 15:35Speaker 3: connecting to each other and like finding out about your
- 15:37Speaker 3: friends and family health.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's not just about my own personal sleep anymore.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It's about it, and is it mostly about sleep?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I like to track the sleep and then your stress.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It tracks your stress levels and your heart beat, your
- 15:51Speaker 2: resting beats for a minute.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Has it changed any of your behavior?
- 15:57Speaker 4: I'm more mad.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I'm more furious that I'm not. I don't know how
- 16:04Speaker 2: to maneuver the sleep.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Do you have a hard time sleeping?
- 16:09Speaker 2: No, I think I think it's that just to go
- 16:14Speaker 2: it good on the go.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It's hard to sleep like regular hours.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and then when you're shooting a show, you know,
- 16:22Speaker 2: wold Times at five and it's just like way.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well maybe I'll get there at some point. Yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 3: just throw the ring out.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I'll throw out the ring.
- 16:35Speaker 3: How does it track your sleep? Just because you're so
- 16:38Speaker 3: it just knows you're lying still.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it knows your heartbeat, so like when it gets
- 16:42Speaker 2: to a certain point, it can tell when you're like
- 16:45Speaker 2: in the the zones.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yeah. That would just stress me out. That's just like
- 16:49Speaker 3: a new job that I have to take care of.
- 16:51Speaker 2: It's a little weird. I'm getting used to it. But
- 16:53Speaker 2: do you do anything to like try.
- 16:55Speaker 3: To Occasionally when I'm at absolute anxiety, I'll do a
- 17:01Speaker 3: couple of heavy breath breath right, But it's more just
- 17:06Speaker 3: to let the people know around me, I have a.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Problem loudsizhe to let someone know you're a noise.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm finding peace through size, like passive aggressive noises,
- 17:17Speaker 3: that kind of yeah. You know, every four years I'll
- 17:20Speaker 3: try meditating, doesn't stick, and then I go on kind
- 17:24Speaker 3: of just rapidly aging myself through stress.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Well you look great.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Oh God, bless well should see that with you?
- 17:33Speaker 2: You are in love with I'm in love with you,
- 17:35Speaker 2: So maybe I have little love goggles.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Right, you can't see the real.
- 17:39Speaker 2: You look great, We look great, We look great.
- 17:42Speaker 3: The last time I saw you, we were in Disneyland
- 17:44Speaker 3: and having the time of our lives with the front
- 17:47Speaker 3: And have you been back to Disney insense?
- 17:50Speaker 4: I have one more time?
- 17:52Speaker 3: And how was that experience without me?
- 17:55Speaker 2: I missed you. I missed you. I feel like we
- 17:58Speaker 2: had fun giggling. Yeah, a good time with Terran.
- 18:01Speaker 3: I mean going with him, going with him, It's like
- 18:04Speaker 3: he's just such a joyous person to be around, and
- 18:07Speaker 3: he knows how to be there.
- 18:09Speaker 4: He plans the whole experience.
- 18:11Speaker 3: It's incredible.
- 18:12Speaker 2: So you just and he fills you in on all
- 18:15Speaker 2: you learn about Lily Disney, you learn about.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I didn't learn about Lily Disney. I don't think so well.
- 18:22Speaker 2: She loved dragonflies?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Who she's waltz? Why, Wow, I'm shocked. I didn't know that.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And he loved her okay, good to know, and really
- 18:36Speaker 2: decorated with her in mind. Interesting you know this the
- 18:43Speaker 2: Club thirty th the little places he really like wanted
- 18:48Speaker 2: her to feel special.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Now this is where Tarren dropped the ball with me.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Well, we have a bone to pick with Terryen.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Yes, yes, maybe he just knows that my experience with women,
- 19:00Speaker 3: you know, not crazy about them. I don't need to
- 19:03Speaker 3: hear about that.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Save that fact for when I have just the light
- 19:06Speaker 2: eights here.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Do you have a favorite rite it Disney?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Then? I love Space Mountain and Pirates, Oh classic, And
- 19:16Speaker 2: I just love their melted faces.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I just love it.
- 19:19Speaker 2: It's so And we did the Tiki Room. Oh I
- 19:22Speaker 2: have done that in a long time, and that was
- 19:24Speaker 2: very nostalgic.
- 19:25Speaker 3: How was that experience as an adult because it's just
- 19:27Speaker 3: birds singing at you.
- 19:28Speaker 2: It's bird singing over your head and you're kind of
- 19:31Speaker 2: just thinking about like if that were real, they would
- 19:33Speaker 2: just be shitting on you the whole time because they're
- 19:36Speaker 2: like they're singing, and then for quite a while you're
- 19:40Speaker 2: like very gonna be sitting on you. But it was cute, Sure,
- 19:45Speaker 2: it was really cute.
- 19:46Speaker 3: I've never thought about the tiki room would be a mess,
- 19:48Speaker 3: it would be a disaster, it would be a it
- 19:50Speaker 3: would be the home of a scary person. Oh yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 3: somebody who's like to get it together.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, my birds they sing?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah? And is it like an hour long experience? I
- 20:03Speaker 3: don't remember that much about it.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It was lengthy, it was it was maybe thirty minutes.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Okay, fascinating, Yeah right, yeah.
- 20:13Speaker 4: What's your favorite?
- 20:15Speaker 3: It used to be Tower of Terror and then they've
- 20:17Speaker 3: kind of lost me Guardians. They turned it into a
- 20:20Speaker 3: comic book thing, and I just loved the spookiness.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Effect, like spooky things.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I love spooky things, especially haunted.
- 20:28Speaker 4: We got it gets you to a comic con.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I bet that's a very spooky, honey, Yeah, But I
- 20:37Speaker 3: like a spooky period piece. Yeah, something in a haunted
- 20:40Speaker 3: house or a haunted hotel, something that feels kind of dusty.
- 20:45Speaker 2: And do you like to have scary farm? Have you
- 20:48Speaker 2: done that?
- 20:49Speaker 3: I've never been to not scary farm a now that
- 20:51Speaker 3: we're saying that, yeah, is that supposed to be a
- 20:53Speaker 3: pun of like it's not scary? Oh? Or was that
- 20:57Speaker 3: just a mistake on Nott's very farm or you know, because.
- 21:00Speaker 4: I don't think they want it to sound Knots.
- 21:02Speaker 3: It feels like it's working against the general idea. You're right,
- 21:05Speaker 3: which listener, if you're not aware of Nots Scary Farm,
- 21:07Speaker 3: it's when Notts Verry far becomes a haunted house.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yes, it goes from Knots Berry Farm. Have you been
- 21:15Speaker 2: to Knots Berry Farm?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Now, I've been to the restaurant.
- 21:18Speaker 2: There's a horrible ride there, which and I'm not a negative,
- 21:22Speaker 2: it was just so the there were It was a
- 21:25Speaker 2: ride called the Berry Blaster and you sit in a
- 21:30Speaker 2: car and there's like a you get a gun that's
- 21:35Speaker 2: a berry and you have like a thing where you're
- 21:37Speaker 2: shooting berries and the whole goal is to kill as
- 21:40Speaker 2: many bears as you can. Watch might know you're just
- 21:45Speaker 2: shooting bears dead with berries and it's for children. You're
- 21:51Speaker 2: trying to kill these bears. I'm like, this is the
- 21:57Speaker 2: Berry Blaster Verry Blaster.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and you were I feel like you should be
- 22:03Speaker 3: sitting in like a Raspberry that would think it was
- 22:05Speaker 3: Oh okay, well then I'm on board. Okay, totally sitting
- 22:09Speaker 3: in the middle of a Raspberry shooting bears to death. Yes, fascinating.
- 22:12Speaker 2: You know, they're all I get a family picnic and
- 22:15Speaker 2: having fun, and then you're like, yeah, get them. I know.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I guess I just don't know that much about the
- 22:21Speaker 3: entire experience.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they really tried to make the IP like the Berries.
- 22:28Speaker 3: It wasn't Snoopy involved at some point.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yes, there's Snoopy stuff. Okay, I think Snoopy would stock
- 22:37Speaker 2: there's some.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Lean into that. That's the only character anyone recognizes from
- 22:41Speaker 3: that thing, right, other than just generic bear right or berry.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Berry the bear and his family murder hired the child assassin.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Wow, But I have not been to a not scary form.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Is it scary?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's scary, Okay, they.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Because they have like local teens chasing you or whatever.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that they can come up to you.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I've been to Universal Horror Nights, which was too much
- 23:13Speaker 3: concrete for me, I'll say, just walking on concrete and
- 23:16Speaker 3: waiting in line. Yeah, And then again, no, I'm not
- 23:20Speaker 3: with a haunted house experience. I just want to go
- 23:22Speaker 3: into the thing then it's over. I don't want to
- 23:24Speaker 3: walk out and then have to see another line that
- 23:25Speaker 3: I get to go through another.
- 23:27Speaker 2: One scary part.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah, for me, it's just like and it's like eleven
- 23:31Speaker 3: thirty at night. I'm exhausted. Yeah, in a basically, and
- 23:36Speaker 3: a shut down theme park should just be scary on
- 23:38Speaker 3: its own, and they kind of have gotten rid of
- 23:40Speaker 3: They should do that element of it, right, rides are haunted.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Right, we have the wrong career.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I should be designing imagineers. It's not too late. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 3: well I'll say something. It's too late. Say it's too late,
- 24:02Speaker 3: because I don't even know too late for you to apologize. Also,
- 24:06Speaker 3: I was excited for you to be here on the
- 24:08Speaker 3: podcast that patio come by. We'll have an incredible time
- 24:13Speaker 3: and then we'll go our separate ways, oh, with fond memories.
- 24:18Speaker 3: So I was a little surprised when you walked into
- 24:21Speaker 3: the studio holding a gift. A podcast is called.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I said, no gifts, okay, right, and I okay, this
- 24:33Speaker 2: is awkward. I can tell I'm really sorry.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Okay, that's all I was looking for.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I'm really sorry, just.
- 24:40Speaker 3: One and I mean that authentic apology.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I did bring something.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Should we open it here on the podcast?
- 24:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 24:46Speaker 4: I think yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 2: In my fluster last night trying to get on the fly, yes,
- 24:57Speaker 2: I was like, I have to be at a podcast tomorrow.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And I was telling Kyle, my boyfriend. I was like,
- 25:05Speaker 2: I have the podcast round. He's like, which podcast was?
- 25:08Speaker 2: I was like, please don't bring me a present. Just
- 25:12Speaker 2: I said it's it's no gifts, no presence, just don't
- 25:18Speaker 2: bring me I couldn't remember the exact name, and I
- 25:20Speaker 2: was so flustered, but I did. I did bring you
- 25:25Speaker 2: a present.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Well, beautiful green bag. If listener, if you're not watching
- 25:29Speaker 3: the episode, the amount of beautiful.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Green screen, I feel like we're in Kawhi.
- 25:34Speaker 3: This is a lush episode.
- 25:35Speaker 4: It is ultimately lush plants curtain.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Shirt that Okay, I'm going to reach in.
- 25:42Speaker 4: You might have this, and I'm sorry.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Now the bag says pigmy hippo. But but that's not
- 25:50Speaker 3: that I'm curious what pigmy hippos.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It's actually a fantastic little gift store. Okay, that's it's
- 25:58Speaker 2: on Beverly.
- 25:58Speaker 3: It's great. I'm reaching in finding more tissue.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Okay, that's not the gift.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Okay, here we go, and you might have this. Oh
- 26:10Speaker 3: my god, wait did you make this?
- 26:13Speaker 2: I did in the car on my way here?
- 26:17Speaker 3: Listener? This is okay, So it's a candle, but Patty
- 26:21Speaker 3: has covered it in photos of the cast of Secret
- 26:25Speaker 3: Lives of Mormon Wives, that's right, as well as.
- 26:30Speaker 2: All the men.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Wait, who are these guys?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Those are the men from the Bachelorette didn't air because
- 26:37Speaker 2: they need their time in the sun.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I was going to say, it's just like generic looking men,
- 26:42Speaker 3: which is the Bachelorette. Wow, how did you create this?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Well? I found these pictures and if you'll notice, it's
- 26:53Speaker 2: all of the castmates, well the female castmates season one, two, three, four, right,
- 26:59Speaker 2: so you can see how they've changed throughout the season.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Yes, their extensions have changed.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Yes, they've been to Jis hair salon.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I've been there by the way you have Oh yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 3: I've been there. And Jesse was holding a yard sale
- 27:14Speaker 3: for hair, No for her crap, just stuff she obviously
- 27:18Speaker 3: had in her closet.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Hitting did you buy something?
- 27:20Speaker 3: No, this is how my cheapness is insane.
- 27:25Speaker 2: This is why you need all these gifts.
- 27:26Speaker 4: You don't want to buy anything.
- 27:28Speaker 3: She had a like a tupperware full of like used
- 27:31Speaker 3: iPhone cases. Why didn't I buy one of those?
- 27:34Speaker 4: Okay, well maybe because it wouldn't well yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 3: But like as a keep saying, we have it, frame
- 27:39Speaker 3: it and one of my grand nieces could have it
- 27:42Speaker 3: or something. Uh, my mental illness has just gone too far.
- 27:47Speaker 2: No, this was perfect.
- 27:49Speaker 3: This was really an ex.
- 27:50Speaker 4: No, you're perfect.
- 27:52Speaker 3: But she was selling like used athleisure old cell phone cases.
- 27:56Speaker 2: My god.
- 27:57Speaker 3: This was in her place of business, which I loved
- 27:59Speaker 3: and I support.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So she had a corner that was just like on
- 28:04Speaker 2: your way in or out or where you while you're
- 28:06Speaker 2: waiting for the foils to do their thing, you go
- 28:09Speaker 2: over and bruise her junk.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Yes, take a look at my junk when.
- 28:12Speaker 4: You jesus junk.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Wow.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Wow.
- 28:15Speaker 3: But I will say I learned a lesson because later
- 28:19Speaker 3: Whitney Rose from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City was
- 28:22Speaker 3: doing her own online yard sale and one of her
- 28:25Speaker 3: dresses was for sale for seventy five or eighty five
- 28:28Speaker 3: dollars and I said, I just have to buy it. Okay,
- 28:30Speaker 3: I have to buy this thing. Yeah I bought it. Okay,
- 28:33Speaker 3: great fit pretty well? Oh good?
- 28:37Speaker 2: Oh I'd love to see that.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks of course it's tasteful. But I have
- 28:41Speaker 3: been worn it to an event. I need to. I
- 28:44Speaker 3: should be wearing it to every other you should.
- 28:46Speaker 2: What a story, what a piece?
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it does require a little like pulling up pretty
- 28:52Speaker 3: frequently because otherwise, you know, yeah, like the physics of
- 28:58Speaker 3: it are interesting to me, thinking about how she could
- 29:00Speaker 3: have possibly worn it. Yeah, but you know, nonetheless, it's
- 29:04Speaker 3: in my closet. It's ready to be worn at the
- 29:07Speaker 3: drop of a hat.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Let's get you to an event.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Get me to get you to an event. But I
- 29:14Speaker 3: have been to jay z Styles Jay Styles and had
- 29:18Speaker 3: a lovely experience. Got to see a wall of extensions.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Wow, that hair wall.
- 29:22Speaker 3: It's fascinating. It's really an interesting It's kind of in
- 29:26Speaker 3: a deeply industrial part.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Of Utah, so anyone can pop in.
- 29:30Speaker 3: And if they let me in, they and I was.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Very did you have an appointment or did you just I.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Said I love the show or something like that, And
- 29:40Speaker 3: then the person was just on their phone, and I
- 29:42Speaker 3: think they were just like, sure, there's a yard sale
- 29:45Speaker 3: over there. Want something? Wow, But they have like a
- 29:49Speaker 3: of course they have like a couch. You can sit
- 29:51Speaker 3: on with some Neon sign behind it to take a picture,
- 29:57Speaker 3: and it was just a lovely experience overall. Would really
- 30:00Speaker 3: recommend it to anyone who wants hair extensions or to
- 30:04Speaker 3: just browset this a lot. Yeah, yes, but these are
- 30:11Speaker 3: all they've all kind of gone through. We've watched them transform, yes,
- 30:15Speaker 3: through the last four years.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:18Speaker 3: No, I think it's been two years actually, because they.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Really those seasons faster than they do baby, the whole thing.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I'm like, I need to get in touch with the
- 30:27Speaker 3: reality division at Hulu and walk them through how to
- 30:31Speaker 3: do any of this. We have at so breathing. Release
- 30:35Speaker 3: them one episode, one week at a time.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Right, it's a dump, and then like two weeks later
- 30:40Speaker 2: you have another.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Dumb Right, you could have ten weeks of people watching
- 30:44Speaker 3: this thing. It's exhausting.
- 30:47Speaker 2: We have notes.
- 30:49Speaker 4: It is exhausting. You're taking in so much.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Oh my god. Well this is and this is a
- 30:53Speaker 3: problem for me because I recap them on our Patreon
- 30:56Speaker 3: and everyone watches it all at once, and I'm watching
- 30:58Speaker 3: them one week at a time, so I'm so behind culture.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Well, how could you do all that? I mean, that's.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Each episode's doing perfect.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Each episode feels like, it's like forty hours long.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I know they are long.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I do check the times when I'm like, is this
- 31:14Speaker 2: still the same?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Wow?
- 31:17Speaker 2: Okay, but I have to get through it because I
- 31:20Speaker 2: love them.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Who do you think is like the out of all
- 31:24Speaker 3: of the Secret Lives ladies, which one would you actually
- 31:27Speaker 3: want to spend time with?
- 31:28Speaker 2: That's a great question. Can I see my Yeah, of course,
- 31:32Speaker 2: I would probably say I feel like, I don't know Dakota.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Oh my god, I know, I have a video of Dakota.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Remind me her name?
- 31:47Speaker 3: Macie Macy.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I would say Macy probably, even though she seems a
- 31:52Speaker 2: little problematic.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Well, they all do. I don't know, probably Macie.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I would say Macie too. I think Macy like is
- 31:59Speaker 3: the one person I'm like, I think that person's essentially
- 32:02Speaker 3: in control of her life. Yes, like, is not just
- 32:05Speaker 3: like total chaos all the time? Yes, and up until
- 32:10Speaker 3: I mean, I'm still watching this season and I'm starting
- 32:12Speaker 3: to lose respect for the husband after he's gone to
- 32:16Speaker 3: the Vander Pumphila and he's come back a new Jacob.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Maybe I'm like a little worried for her, and so
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm like, she needs a friend, right, I don't know, Yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 2: that guy's a little problematic that husband, doesn't he have
- 32:29Speaker 2: a weird backstory that he was like married to. This
- 32:34Speaker 2: is the kind of ripped guy, right, No, that's like.
- 32:37Speaker 3: A pyramid shaped head you're you're thinking about? Is it
- 32:43Speaker 3: your Dimmy's husband? Oh? Wait, Chase, Chase? Wait? And yeah
- 32:51Speaker 3: they had something. I think they had something going on
- 32:53Speaker 3: at some point.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he had something where he was married
- 32:56Speaker 2: to like a housewife of Salt Lake.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Your inking ambaut. You're thinking about Demi's current husband, yes, Brett, Yes,
- 33:06Speaker 3: who was about twenty to thirty years older than the
- 33:08Speaker 3: rest of the castep, that's it, and was in some
- 33:12Speaker 3: sort of thing with a real housewife who has not
- 33:16Speaker 3: now gone to become a ufo ologist.
- 33:19Speaker 2: What it gets better? Are you ufo ologists?
- 33:25Speaker 3: Once these people leave these shows, that's when the real
- 33:27Speaker 3: excitement begins, because there's some scrambling.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Because maybe they're all doing a lot of ketamine.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I mean they are, they are. There's in one season
- 33:35Speaker 3: they go at least one couple is doing is going
- 33:37Speaker 3: to ketymine therapy or whatever. Right, I've done it? How
- 33:41Speaker 3: you did it as therapy? Yeah? How was that experience?
- 33:44Speaker 2: Fantastic? I did it like a week ago.
- 33:46Speaker 3: What like, what does it feel like?
- 33:50Speaker 2: It feels like blasting off into like a few lifetimes.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Whoa, it's really.
- 34:05Speaker 2: It's delta Kish it's in here still. It's it's it's
- 34:12Speaker 2: so incredible. I don't even know have the real words.
- 34:17Speaker 2: It's like you go in and it's really dark and quiet,
- 34:21Speaker 2: and you're wearing headphones and and you're listening to music
- 34:25Speaker 2: and then you kind of have to relax into it
- 34:29Speaker 2: and then it just takes you to places. It takes
- 34:32Speaker 2: you to memories. It takes you to the space, right,
- 34:36Speaker 2: I mean, you could meet some aliens there for sure.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It's but it's profound and that you it takes you
- 34:44Speaker 2: to relate a lot of relationships, like it takes you
- 34:48Speaker 2: to memories that and I like to go in with
- 34:52Speaker 2: an intention of some kind that's like, you know, helps
- 34:56Speaker 2: kind of focus it.
- 34:58Speaker 3: And how is the ketamine administered?
- 35:00Speaker 2: It's a needle, oh like, and they put you in
- 35:02Speaker 2: and again ivy and it's like a clinic where they
- 35:05Speaker 2: are take you know, they take you all your vitals
- 35:08Speaker 2: and they really are like monitoring you.
- 35:11Speaker 3: So fascinating. And how long does it last?
- 35:14Speaker 4: It's like forty five minutes.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Okay, and then you have somebody drive you home. Yeah okay, yeah,
- 35:18Speaker 3: hop in the car now.
- 35:21Speaker 2: It was so fascinating. And I work with a dream therapist,
- 35:23Speaker 2: Oh to talk through dreams.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Okay, stuff. How long have you been doing that?
- 35:28Speaker 2: Probably three years?
- 35:31Speaker 3: Okay? And you're just like seeing what's happening in your
- 35:35Speaker 3: subconscious basically.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Like the way he describes it is like your
- 35:40Speaker 2: dreams are offering up images of your subconscious and when
- 35:45Speaker 2: you like get them, you can work with them and
- 35:50Speaker 2: kind of understand yourself more. Right.
- 35:54Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, you're kind of split in two.
- 35:57Speaker 2: There's the half of you that's like living out in
- 35:59Speaker 2: the world in your reality, and then there's the half
- 36:02Speaker 2: that's like connected to something else and has all these
- 36:07Speaker 2: like the conscious collective consciousness you know.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Right? Do you feel like this affected the way you dream?
- 36:15Speaker 2: It definitely helps me remember my dreams more. And I
- 36:20Speaker 2: have had some of those dreams where you are like
- 36:25Speaker 2: kind of awake in your dream and your going places
- 36:28Speaker 2: you can like like lucid Dreaming's lucid dreaming.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Oh, I would love to be able to lucid dream Uh,
- 36:34Speaker 3: but I guess.
- 36:35Speaker 4: I'm just you can't ready you can you.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Kind of train yourself, right, I think so, I've like
- 36:41Speaker 3: I've tried, well, I've looked into it, and then of
- 36:43Speaker 3: course I don't have the self discipline to do any
- 36:46Speaker 3: of the things you're supposed to to lucid.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Dream don't be so hard on your No, don't tell
- 36:52Speaker 2: me what to do.
- 36:54Speaker 1: No.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Do you remember your dreams ever?
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yes?
- 36:58Speaker 4: Do you ever write them down?
- 36:59Speaker 3: Or that's one of the steps I've been told you, right,
- 37:01Speaker 3: have a dream journal.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 3: The other thing that I've been told to do is
- 37:05Speaker 3: while conscious, like look at text, look away and then
- 37:10Speaker 3: look back to make sure it's the same text, or
- 37:12Speaker 3: like at a clock, because I guess in dreams that's
- 37:15Speaker 3: something you're not able to do in a dream. If
- 37:18Speaker 3: you were to look away and then look back, it
- 37:20Speaker 3: wouldn't hold on to that text or whatever, okay, and
- 37:24Speaker 3: that would that would like alert your you into being like, oh,
- 37:26Speaker 3: I'm in a dream. Now I can break out of
- 37:28Speaker 3: this and begin lucid dreaming. Oh cool. I don't know
- 37:31Speaker 3: if that's true or not, but that's what I've been told. Wow,
- 37:34Speaker 3: But again, I haven't tried any of these things. Don't
- 37:37Speaker 3: know if they're actually effective. How often do you think
- 37:40Speaker 3: you're lucid dreaming?
- 37:42Speaker 2: I really just remember the one time. I mean maybe
- 37:47Speaker 2: a few, but more recently, just one where I was like, oh,
- 37:51Speaker 2: I'm in I'm in a dream and I wanted to
- 37:54Speaker 2: like wake up Kyle and tell them I'm hallucinating. And
- 37:57Speaker 2: then I was like, no, I'm in this dream. And
- 37:59Speaker 2: I'm like there was like a little man that crawled
- 38:02Speaker 2: into the bed with us, and he like it was scary.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 2: I was like seeing like spirits, like I was seeing
- 38:11Speaker 2: my aunt she was passed. I was seeing this man
- 38:14Speaker 2: like being spooned by Kyle and it was really in nuts.
- 38:20Speaker 3: And that's a borderline possession or something. No, my god.
- 38:24Speaker 2: And then yeah, this one there was an alien in
- 38:27Speaker 2: one and that just made me think of this whole
- 38:29Speaker 2: these women ufology whatever it is. But I had one
- 38:34Speaker 2: where there was this massive alien and he stood up
- 38:37Speaker 2: and he had a big, big old alien boner blue
- 38:43Speaker 2: and I was like, whoa.
- 38:45Speaker 3: It was just I don't know, And did you tell
- 38:47Speaker 3: your dream therapist about this?
- 38:48Speaker 2: He got very excited, starts drawing a picture. I did
- 38:54Speaker 2: draw a picture and I sent it to him and
- 38:55Speaker 2: he's like, wow.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Are you a big alien person?
- 39:02Speaker 2: In general, I'm open to it. Okay, yeah, I'm open
- 39:06Speaker 2: to it. I'm not like an ologist of any sure,
- 39:10Speaker 2: but I am. I'm for sure. I think there's got
- 39:13Speaker 2: to be something.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course, of course, of course. But when
- 39:17Speaker 3: I'm running out of patience, I know we only have
- 39:20Speaker 3: so much.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Time to get in here and do some stuff.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Yeah, do whatever you want, I realyy, don't care. Have
- 39:29Speaker 3: some fun with making.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Some mood like be bold.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like, Okay, we do have the the
- 39:39Speaker 3: photos of the men from the Bachelorette. Have you looked
- 39:43Speaker 3: into any of them or no? I guess they said
- 39:46Speaker 3: which one she picked? Right? Taylor, Frank and Paul.
- 39:49Speaker 2: He's at the top.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Put him, ok, and he's like a lifeguard or something.
- 39:54Speaker 2: God, I don't know.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I don't know anything about the.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Bachelorette's here, right. He kind of looks like Dakota.
- 40:00Speaker 3: I'm sure he does. I mean those two have quite
- 40:03Speaker 3: a cycle going on. Yes, they do very toxic. For
- 40:06Speaker 3: a long time I said it was passion. I'm ready
- 40:10Speaker 3: to admit it's maybe toxic.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Okay, this is big for you. Wow.
- 40:16Speaker 3: But I'm now kind of following her journey through social
- 40:20Speaker 3: media and it's been interesting, to say the least. She's
- 40:24Speaker 3: learning to play the piano. She's just kind of I
- 40:29Speaker 3: guess I should look into what that guy is doing, Dakota.
- 40:31Speaker 2: He's I think he's probably doing great. I feel like
- 40:36Speaker 2: he wants to be a good dad. He's got his dad,
- 40:39Speaker 2: got his dad buds.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Yeah, those guys are so irritated. Some of the most
- 40:44Speaker 3: annoying men alive.
- 40:46Speaker 2: And you grew up in Utah, Utah. Yes, and do
- 40:49Speaker 2: you feel like you know some of these kinds of
- 40:52Speaker 2: people absolutely?
- 40:54Speaker 3: Like that was an initial hurdle for me watching the show,
- 40:56Speaker 3: where I was a little bit like, yeah, those are
- 40:58Speaker 3: just like girls I went to hig school with that,
- 41:00Speaker 3: what's interesting about this? Yes, But then I kind of
- 41:03Speaker 3: developed a taste and now I'm fully obsessed with But like,
- 41:08Speaker 3: almost every one of these people is basically an archetype
- 41:11Speaker 3: of I mean they're and they're all basically the same
- 41:13Speaker 3: person as well. Right, it's not a lot of differentiation.
- 41:16Speaker 2: I mean, if you.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Looked at this, you would just be like, this is
- 41:18Speaker 4: all one person.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Oh my god, they're.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Still there, the whole everything is the exact same.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Like I was still watch an episode and be like,
- 41:28Speaker 3: who is.
- 41:28Speaker 2: That I know. That's why I'm like, im dim may see,
- 41:33Speaker 2: Whitney has made.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Her Whitney has like finally Whitney broke out. She was
- 41:37Speaker 3: smart to have different hair basically the whole time. Yes,
- 41:40Speaker 3: that was the move.
- 41:41Speaker 2: That was the move.
- 41:42Speaker 3: The rest of them all had the exact same hair,
- 41:43Speaker 3: so it was very hard to break out as a
- 41:45Speaker 3: star unless you were tailor. But then the rest of
- 41:49Speaker 3: them are just like, it's a Yes, I do have
- 41:52Speaker 3: a bit of I think face blindness. I know I've
- 41:55Speaker 3: diagnosed myself with wig blindness.
- 41:58Speaker 4: What does that mean?
- 41:59Speaker 3: I just can never tell if someone's wearing a wig.
- 42:01Speaker 3: People would be like, that's obviously a wig. Really, I'm
- 42:06Speaker 3: easily fooled by a wig. I don't. I don't know why.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Maybe I'm too trusting.
- 42:11Speaker 4: You're a great audience member for the groundling.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Even on stage. That's not natural. No, I have a
- 42:24Speaker 3: very hard time telling if a person's hair is real
- 42:27Speaker 3: or not, which I guess that's a good thing for
- 42:29Speaker 3: people and wigs. Yeah, you're the target audience. Yeah, and
- 42:35Speaker 3: now this show, at least the show I've said this
- 42:37Speaker 3: show is kind of like a face blindness simulator where
- 42:40Speaker 3: it's like this is how it would feel if you
- 42:42Speaker 3: had face blindness. You would just like who's whoever? There's
- 42:47Speaker 3: a lot of right, and you've watched all of the show.
- 42:50Speaker 2: I don't think I've watched this last season.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Okay, there are a lot of complaints about this season.
- 42:57Speaker 3: I don't see the difference.
- 42:58Speaker 2: What are people's art?
- 43:01Speaker 3: Do you think that they're going to keep making the show?
- 43:04Speaker 2: I I think they probably have what two more seasons
- 43:07Speaker 2: left in them?
- 43:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just curious about this big breakout.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Right, maybe it's like one more season of like trying
- 43:15Speaker 2: to pull some pieces together, right, But I don't know
- 43:18Speaker 2: they all they don't seem united.
- 43:20Speaker 3: They're certainly not united. They're busier than ever.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I don't know what's going out with mom talk. I
- 43:24Speaker 2: know they're busy, they're they're.
- 43:27Speaker 3: All work, and Whitney wants out of that thing more
- 43:30Speaker 3: than anything. Well, she's doing great, she's selling out Chicago.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, God, what what a Hollywood story.
- 43:38Speaker 3: She really broke out? But uh will? I feel like
- 43:41Speaker 3: the general consensuss is like, yeah, she's fine. Yeah, So
- 43:46Speaker 3: like where does she go from here?
- 43:47Speaker 1: Yeah? Right?
- 43:48Speaker 3: Burn too bright too quickly?
- 43:49Speaker 1: Right? Right?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Right?
- 43:50Speaker 3: And then what happens? And then the rest of them.
- 43:52Speaker 3: It's like, you just go back to your life. What happens.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I'm honestly a little nervous. Maybe they'll do like a
- 43:58Speaker 2: catch back up in five years and you're.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Going to run into them at comic con.
- 44:02Speaker 2: No, No, I'm never going again.
- 44:06Speaker 3: What con do these ladies go to? They don't go
- 44:10Speaker 3: to Bravocon.
- 44:11Speaker 4: They probably go to.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Maybe this is a thing I should start producing YouTube,
- 44:17Speaker 3: Mormon Con, Mormon Con, talk Con. There's enough Mormon reality
- 44:22Speaker 3: TV at this point. Oh, TikTok con. It's a hard
- 44:25Speaker 3: thing to say, t talk con, talk Con, talk Con,
- 44:29Speaker 3: talt Con. Yeah, because there's really no there's really no
- 44:33Speaker 3: place for them yet. No, what do they Where do
- 44:36Speaker 3: they host a comic con? It's like a convention convention center. Right,
- 44:45Speaker 3: We've got to find a place for them to sign
- 44:48Speaker 3: merch mom talk merch cup, Stanley cups this wig drinks,
- 44:55Speaker 3: wigswig drinks. Have you been to your show?
- 44:57Speaker 2: No?
- 44:58Speaker 3: Yes, okay, but you've not been.
- 45:01Speaker 2: I've never been a Swigan.
- 45:03Speaker 3: So did we ever get around to why you brought this?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Oh?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Sure, because I did do a little research with Taren
- 45:11Speaker 2: and I and I was I was also an early
- 45:16Speaker 2: fan to this show, and so I thought that you
- 45:20Speaker 2: could use it as a prayer candle absolutely for when
- 45:24Speaker 2: you need to take a few breath and you can just.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Light that, think about these goals, get.
- 45:31Speaker 4: To a calming place with those.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Goals, and pray for them, and pray for.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Them, and pray for their.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Hair, and pray for you whatever you want.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Do you have a least favorite member of mom Talk
- 45:51Speaker 3: take a look, A look.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I've never really gotten on board because I just don't
- 45:59Speaker 2: know really what's going on.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Miranda is a bit of a I think in Utah
- 46:04Speaker 3: they're referred to as sand dune and girls.
- 46:07Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 46:10Speaker 3: Which is essentially Miranda like a very tan, super white hair.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Somebody who goes to their sand dunes in Utah goes
- 46:17Speaker 3: to the sand dunes and rides like an atv okay,
- 46:20Speaker 3: And that's like a very particular set of people. That's
- 46:23Speaker 3: basically their culture all the time. And they're just kind
- 46:27Speaker 3: of like a what would you someone you would meet
- 46:32Speaker 3: at a gas station?
- 46:33Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, that sounds like a gas station or like.
- 46:39Speaker 3: On a cruise, on a cruise right right.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Or just kind of like like like a seven to.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Eleven right or outside of a Tanning Salon. Yeah, kind
- 46:52Speaker 3: of thing, like.
- 46:53Speaker 4: In a parking lot of.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Anywhere.
- 47:00Speaker 3: She's what we referred to as parking lot women.
- 47:03Speaker 2: God, I feel bad. I like to meet nice but I.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Like Miranda by the way. I think.
- 47:09Speaker 4: I think she's probably actually the most normal.
- 47:12Speaker 3: She kind of I feel like she's kind of almost
- 47:14Speaker 3: an outsider to the group, so she brings a little
- 47:16Speaker 3: bit of common sense when she's talking. Yeah, she and
- 47:19Speaker 3: Macy are kind of those that's their presence.
- 47:22Speaker 2: She and Macy are kind of like that.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Michaela is kind of just always there to snipe at people,
- 47:28Speaker 3: and her husband as quiet as a mouse. And then
- 47:32Speaker 3: there's Jessie, who unfortunately brings Jordan along, who I just
- 47:36Speaker 3: can't nobody.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Likes this be done. Who's that guy?
- 47:41Speaker 3: Well, apparently she was. I'm so sorry to the listener.
- 47:43Speaker 2: If you're not, I'm so sorry.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Apparently she was at least on one date with Marciano,
- 47:50Speaker 3: the guy that she is, that who may have, may
- 47:52Speaker 3: or may not have had an affair with from the
- 47:54Speaker 3: band of Philo. Yeah, but these they're always kind of
- 47:57Speaker 3: launching new uh new boyfriends on TikTok.
- 48:02Speaker 2: We're just not sure what's real and what's not right.
- 48:05Speaker 3: This is a particularly blurry world because there's the reality show,
- 48:08Speaker 3: but then there's their social media presence that never.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Ends, and they are trying to make it like CLICKI.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Right all the time. Yeah, so it's a little I
- 48:18Speaker 3: don't know what to trust. Yeah, it's a tough one.
- 48:22Speaker 2: But maybe we call this like a truth candle.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Like oh, like the truth box, like the truth box.
- 48:28Speaker 3: The truth box is a desperate move, you know, each
- 48:31Speaker 3: season when the producers are like, okay, what do we
- 48:33Speaker 3: do now?
- 48:34Speaker 2: One truth that you have to get out.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, and it's how does it work? You ask
- 48:39Speaker 3: a question, you have to tell the truth about it?
- 48:43Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 48:43Speaker 3: I think so? And then everyone ends.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Up screaming are you pregnant?
- 48:47Speaker 3: Yeah? And the answer is yes.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:50Speaker 3: This is the other thing about this isn't they all
- 48:53Speaker 3: seem to be totally fine getting pregnant at any point?
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yes, they're just happy to be miraculous.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Yeah. One of them had a baby in a shower recently.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Oh, I don't know about that.
- 49:05Speaker 3: This show is art. This is a tasteful program where
- 49:10Speaker 3: we watch people who are in control of their lives.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah, flourish, Are you watching anything to balance.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Out this, No, this, What could I be watching? No,
- 49:21Speaker 3: I don't know what I'm trying to think of, like
- 49:23Speaker 3: something that would like get.
- 49:24Speaker 2: A documentary or no, like a art house.
- 49:29Speaker 3: You're right. Let's see some tasteful things that I've watched recently,
- 49:32Speaker 3: or things that like I kind of learned or felt
- 49:34Speaker 3: like they were edifying. I watched a documentary called Marjoe,
- 49:36Speaker 3: which is about a former child preacher. Oh, it's so fascinating.
- 49:42Speaker 3: It was made in like the late sixties, early seventies,
- 49:45Speaker 3: So that's something that people could watch that does for
- 49:48Speaker 3: your brain. I watched that new series, not crazy about
- 49:53Speaker 3: the title. It's called what is it called The False Prophet?
- 49:56Speaker 3: Trust me, the False Prophet. Have you heard about this? Oh?
- 50:00Speaker 4: I've seen little clips of it.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Oh my god, I thought I was over Colts and
- 50:05Speaker 3: that sort of documentary. Well, this is this thing's incredible.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Oh okay, I'm gonna.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I watched four hours in a row, barely moved. I
- 50:14Speaker 3: just could not stop.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Okay, that's incredible.
- 50:18Speaker 3: What sort of thing are you balancing TV?
- 50:20Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, well, I'm watching twin Peaks.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Okay, that's a good one.
- 50:25Speaker 2: For the original the second season for the first time
- 50:29Speaker 2: so I'm I'm really like watching it for the first time.
- 50:32Speaker 2: So that's really fun.
- 50:33Speaker 3: I've never finished the second season of that.
- 50:36Speaker 4: That's where I am too.
- 50:37Speaker 2: I'm kind of like stuck in this right, keep going
- 50:40Speaker 2: back to get a little bite.
- 50:41Speaker 3: And apparently the I think it's justified because apparently David
- 50:45Speaker 3: didn't stopped, like he left halfway through or something. Yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 3: and I think that's probably when it becomes less interesting
- 50:50Speaker 3: or something, because I remember every time I try, I
- 50:53Speaker 3: get like halfway through and I'm like, uh, I get distracted. Yeah,
- 50:56Speaker 3: don't watch anymore, but I need to finish it.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just it's weird in front show. Very funny. God,
- 51:04Speaker 2: there's there's some really funny incredible actors and moments.
- 51:09Speaker 3: Have you ever had extensions?
- 51:11Speaker 1: I did?
- 51:11Speaker 3: You did? When was this?
- 51:17Speaker 2: I had them? Well? So, I how personal do you
- 51:23Speaker 2: get on this show?
- 51:23Speaker 3: As much as anybody at all? None? Keep it to yourself.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Keep it that's a good title for a podcast. Keep
- 51:30Speaker 3: it to yourself.
- 51:32Speaker 4: You don't get into a no truth box moments.
- 51:36Speaker 3: No, let's hear about it.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Well that serious? Yes, I love that you got really serious.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Let's hear about it.
- 51:44Speaker 3: This is a personal thing that involves hair extensions. Well,
- 51:47Speaker 3: this is a sweet spot.
- 51:48Speaker 2: It's really sweet. No, ill it gets into health. I
- 51:53Speaker 2: had like a health okay thing right where I was
- 51:57Speaker 2: on a medication. This is where people are like okay,
- 52:02Speaker 2: and but also like I don't mind talking about it
- 52:05Speaker 2: because people go through.
- 52:06Speaker 3: Stuff all the time. Literally, everyone goes through something something.
- 52:10Speaker 2: So I was I had all sort of clitis so intense.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I'm fully cured that now and like on the other
- 52:18Speaker 2: side of it. But I have always had really long hair,
- 52:23Speaker 2: and then I didn't have like a lot of hair left. Right,
- 52:28Speaker 2: Is this the part that's funny for that listener.
- 52:32Speaker 3: I think this is this is lovely okay, And I
- 52:35Speaker 3: think it is a nice giving the good side of extensions.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Yes, they're not evil, not everybody's doing it.
- 52:43Speaker 3: They're not always boring or it'll always just make you
- 52:47Speaker 3: blend in with your six mom talk friends.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 52:50Speaker 3: There are great uses for wigs, and.
- 52:52Speaker 4: They're great uses for extensions.
- 52:54Speaker 2: But I but I just wanted to have them, and
- 52:57Speaker 2: I had them and they were so hard to have.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's my that's what I'm curious them.
- 53:04Speaker 2: They hurt and then you can't really brush through your
- 53:09Speaker 2: whole hair.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Right, but they can like go in the shower.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they can go in the shower and they kind
- 53:13Speaker 2: of like morph to your real hair, which is cool.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Oh okay, and how long do they last? Do they
- 53:18Speaker 3: start falling off?
- 53:19Speaker 2: They do start getting weird after like I don't know six.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Weeks okay, Okay.
- 53:25Speaker 2: So it starts getting like because your hair grows and
- 53:28Speaker 2: they grow with it, and so you kind of just
- 53:31Speaker 2: start having these things that show I.
- 53:34Speaker 3: Just don't understand how they work.
- 53:36Speaker 2: We got a book you have, like we gotta get
- 53:38Speaker 2: you back into jay Z.
- 53:39Speaker 3: How are they attached to your hair?
- 53:42Speaker 2: There's like there are different kinds or some that are
- 53:44Speaker 2: just clipping, there's some that are like glued in. And
- 53:48Speaker 2: I think that's what Mike.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Gal did because that would grow with your hair.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and Monique is my gallant. She's incredible, but she
- 53:56Speaker 2: just yeah, kind of glued them.
- 53:59Speaker 4: So you can't tell.
- 54:00Speaker 2: I do think a lot it's very common right in
- 54:03Speaker 2: our industry.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Oh I'm sure, especially in a.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but now I don't have any and you've got
- 54:11Speaker 2: such a long hair and I got long humors and
- 54:13Speaker 2: people are shook.
- 54:16Speaker 4: But I did weird like hair meditations.
- 54:19Speaker 3: And like what's a hair meditation.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I just found some on YouTube and they're like my
- 54:23Speaker 2: hair is growing and a lots gorgeous, and I was like, yeah,
- 54:27Speaker 2: I think I'm really like malleable or like open to
- 54:32Speaker 2: just messaging. Oh sure, I would have been great for
- 54:35Speaker 2: a cult.
- 54:37Speaker 3: It's not too late. Well, it's never too late to
- 54:40Speaker 3: be kind of abducted.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Okay, I'll start looking out for one that's fun. But yeah,
- 54:48Speaker 2: I just listened to those and and did like weird
- 54:52Speaker 2: diet like a bone broth okay, collagen dying, right, I
- 54:57Speaker 2: bet a.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Bone broth diet is kind of savory. Nice.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nice, right, warm, cozy, nice, little boring, but nice.
- 55:05Speaker 3: And how long was that whole experience?
- 55:08Speaker 2: It was like almost a year. Okay, wow, it was
- 55:12Speaker 2: a year and it was stressful. And then I started
- 55:14Speaker 2: working on a show called Florida Girls.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Oh sure, and.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Luckily it was like time for those to come out,
- 55:21Speaker 2: and we went and my hair was starting just to
- 55:24Speaker 2: get kind of crazy, and it was like worked out
- 55:26Speaker 2: nice for the show.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Right, did that shoot in Florida?
- 55:30Speaker 4: We were in Savannah, Georgia.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Still humid, really humid. Still still hair situation.
- 55:37Speaker 2: It's gotta be wild, yeah, what's your hair doing?
- 55:39Speaker 3: The humidity, it gets like, not wavy, not curly, just
- 55:43Speaker 3: like and something nobody was. Yeah, I kind of slightly frizzy,
- 55:48Speaker 3: I would say. Yeah, I wish my hair would just
- 55:50Speaker 3: commit to a texture, a texture.
- 55:53Speaker 4: But it's your favorite climate for hair dry.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Bone dry, Okay. My favorit climate anywhere is to be
- 56:01Speaker 3: in the dissert, desert dry air. I love what about you?
- 56:05Speaker 4: I like the moist, like the humidity.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I love it skin wise, like being on a give
- 56:11Speaker 2: me on a boat, right, I like to be a
- 56:14Speaker 2: salty I'm a shelter. Yeah, I'm salty.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:18Speaker 2: I do like to be in like lizard type like humidity,
- 56:23Speaker 2: not so much desert lizard, like a humid, frizzy haired lizard.
- 56:28Speaker 3: Right. I like the curls, yeah, at least like for skin.
- 56:31Speaker 3: Humidity is especially like I think my people come from
- 56:35Speaker 3: places where you need some level of humidity.
- 56:39Speaker 4: Yeah, where do your people come from?
- 56:41Speaker 3: You know, like Scotland just places where dry skin. I
- 56:46Speaker 3: don't know. When you're in nice humid air, you feel better. Yeah.
- 56:50Speaker 3: I don't think I was just necessarily built to be
- 56:52Speaker 3: in a desert, right, But here I am, and I'm
- 56:55Speaker 3: loving it. I gotta get out there.
- 57:01Speaker 2: I want to go. I haven't been.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Oh.
- 57:03Speaker 3: I love Palm Springs. Where do you stay when you
- 57:04Speaker 3: go out there? You know?
- 57:05Speaker 2: I don't have like I usually like an Airbnb, okay house?
- 57:09Speaker 2: Where do you stay?
- 57:10Speaker 3: Sparrow's Lodge?
- 57:12Speaker 2: I gotta like that.
- 57:13Speaker 3: I gotta wait for a deal though, plug glug plug plug.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I wait for the deal. I gotta wait for a deal. Yeah.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Oh, wait, where have I stayed?
- 57:19Speaker 4: It's so fun? The Parker m I love.
- 57:23Speaker 3: That's very nice. I won't go anywhere other than Sparrow's
- 57:26Speaker 3: at this point. It's maybe my favorite place in the world.
- 57:30Speaker 4: That's so gret.
- 57:33Speaker 3: I think part of the secret is it's an adult's
- 57:36Speaker 3: only place, so it's very quiet.
- 57:39Speaker 2: That's nice. I like that's nice. Is it nude?
- 57:43Speaker 3: No? No, so I'm not. I don't think I'm quite
- 57:49Speaker 3: there yet.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Have you seen that show Neighbor?
- 57:54Speaker 3: Oh my god, that last episode. Nothing can nothing can
- 57:57Speaker 3: prepare you for what you see in that episode. Wow, Listener,
- 58:02Speaker 3: there's a show on HBO called Neighbors that just follows
- 58:05Speaker 3: conflicts with neighbors, and the final episode has to do
- 58:10Speaker 3: with a man who just wants to be all out
- 58:12Speaker 3: there at all time, and he.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Wants to pull off that little yellow long bikini bottom
- 58:19Speaker 2: so bad.
- 58:21Speaker 3: And his neighbors don't necessarily want him to do that.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Huh, But he wants to be free. He's so tan,
- 58:27Speaker 2: he wants to be in every inch of.
- 58:30Speaker 3: Us lizard absolute and then he kind of he almost
- 58:33Speaker 3: finds his people in Florida. It's no surprise there, but
- 58:37Speaker 3: that's worth watching. I mean it is. That episode is
- 58:41Speaker 3: like not something I've necessarily would have wanted to be
- 58:44Speaker 3: eating during, but it was like, wow, wow, I just
- 58:49Speaker 3: never thought I would see any of this. Now I'm
- 58:52Speaker 3: seeing it.
- 58:53Speaker 2: That really gives you a nice slice of life, yes,
- 58:56Speaker 2: that you didn't know was out there?
- 58:58Speaker 3: Right Well, I think we should play a game.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Okay, let's doll.
- 59:04Speaker 3: We're going to play a game called Gift or a Curse.
- 59:05Speaker 3: But I need a number between one and ten from you.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Six.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Okay. I have to do some calculating to get our
- 59:12Speaker 3: game pieces. So right now you can promote, recommend, do
- 59:15Speaker 3: whatever you want.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Okay, great. Hii Oh, I'm doing a show right now.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Is the first night I'm doing it. It's called Beverly
- 59:23Speaker 2: Hills the Kirk Douglas Theater. I think so yeah, and
- 59:30Speaker 2: it's so much fun. And we there's this great guy,
- 59:36Speaker 2: Michael A.
- 59:38Speaker 4: Swallow.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Do you know him? So? How I say my wonderful
- 59:42Speaker 2: name Azllollo. He wrote five hundred episodes of a soap
- 59:47Speaker 2: opera when he was thirteen years old. My bit hand
- 59:52Speaker 2: what literally wrote them. He was obsessed with soap operas
- 59:57Speaker 2: and he wrote five hunts over five episodes, and the
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: episodes are like five pages.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: Sure, but he gets he.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Casts people, and we don't know who we're playing or
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: what the dialogue is at all. We just get our
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: outfit look and then you show up and then he
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: casts like a lot of fun people and then you
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: read it's so much fun. So we're doing a run
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: at the Kirk Douglas Theater right now. So that's this
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: week doing stuff at the Groundlings always. There's a show
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: called The Hawk that's coming out on Netflix this summer.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Will Ferrell and Chris Parnell and Malay Shannon and that'll
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: be fun to watch.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Is there anything else?
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Cats? I love cats.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: You're on social media.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: You're on Instagram on social media, Patriska. It is my handle.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: Everybody needs to find you where it?
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Yeah? Patriska on I like Instagram the most, and you
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: love it.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: We all love it. We love the experience.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: How can we not.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: I like it. I like the connecting with people. I
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: like the I like the images I do. I'm old school.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: I like pictures. I do like a picture. I just
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: wish they would end.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: You wish pictures.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: I wish you know, you know, because Instagram has become
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: an infinite service where you can just, you know, non
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: stop scroll.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: There is no end way, and they've made the carousels longer. Yeah,
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: how long are they gonna get? Fifty?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: I bet fifty? Can you imagine swiping through fifty photos
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: of somebody's September?
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: We're closed, they're dump, I mean a fifty picture dump.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Because it's currently what twenty.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Twenty move from ten to twenty twenty is a lot.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Twenty is a lot.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: I don't need to add process. All right, This is
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: this is how we play Gift or a Curse. I'm
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: going to name three things. You'll tell me if they
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: are a gift or a curse and why, Okay, and
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: then I'll tell you if you're right or wrong, because
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: there are correct answers. Great, all right. This first one
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: is from our listener named Sid gift or a curse
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: when a public restroom has a communal sink outside of
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: the bathrooms, so.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: You have your little stall and then you go out
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: to the communal like male and female, like everyone shares.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you go out and there's like, you know,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: it's almost part of I think that's a curse.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Why because not that like there need to be gender
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: roles like at all, Like I don't like everyone should
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: be whatever and whomever they want. I think it like
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: all of a sudden, like I feel like I'm in
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: a closed space to do this thing that I've just
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: done for so long, and then when it's thrown into
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: like a community thing, I have to switch my brain
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: to like, oh I'm in public again for this personal
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: part right right, It's kind of like joining a circle
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: on the aura ring or something. Everybody knows that I'm washing.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: I don't know. That's kind of hard, but I would
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: say it's a curse.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Wrong, Come on, Gift, Okay, it's the modern watering hole.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: This is a place we all go to meet. This
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: is also its wash our hands. It doubles the accountability
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: because you know before it was just oh I like
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: that part everybody is keeping their eyes on each other
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: as they wash hands.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Oh, Sid, you're right, yes, because I do think there
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: are a lot of people who don't come out washing.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Yes hands double the you know, everybody keeping eyes on.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: You need all the eyes, right, you need all that
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: social pressure.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: And it gives me a but I think in middle
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: school we had kind of that thing. It gives me
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: that kind of vibe of like, is that a good
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: public school?
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: No?
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: But it's interesting, yeah, interesting feeling that you don't really
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: expect to feel again as an adult.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: It is kind of fun.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Where is the place where there's the mirror where you
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: can see the other people on the other side washing
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: their hands like it's a strong way and you can
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: like see like the men and on the other side
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: washing their hands and they can see the women.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: That seems illegal.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: This is what Sid wants.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I see that.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Yeah, okay. Number two This is from a listener named
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Caroline Gift for a curse. When the cashier nods or
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: shakes their head at each of your items as they
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: ring you.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Up, Gift, why it feels more interactive to me than
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: just like you know, is zoned out like tink tink.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I feel like it's more like oh ah, I think
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I like it. I think it's like validating and like connect.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: It feels like a connection.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Right, wrong, what come on? Now, that's a curse. I
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: want their eyes up here. I don't want you looking
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: at my groceries. Herbert, mind your own business. I didn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: come here for you to. I don't I need, don't
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: need to pass pass the cashier test. I don't need
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: their approval. No, this is this is the truth. These
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: are all the truth. This has nothing to The listener
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: just suggests the thing and then I reveal the truth. Okay,
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: And this is absolutely a curse. I don't want a
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: cashier getting into my groceries. Really, I want them direct
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: eye contact with me. Just pass.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: You want them severe eye contact as they check everything.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Through eyes off of my groceries. Okay, okay, yeah, I
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: got too wrong? All right. This third is from a
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: listener named Bell Gift or a curse and Airbnb with
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: no mirrors?
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: Oh curse?
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Oh my what I guess?
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, you got Oh I'm mad if there's
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: not a full length mirror, no mirrors? Are we airbnbing
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: in the Amish community. That's fine, but if it's just
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: a if we're in Pittsburgh, I'm going to need a mirror.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I don't want to walk that feels you have to
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: have them. I feel like it's a long or.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: They're currently discussing that in the Supreme Court, very contentious.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: I think you must you must, oh tell me what
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: you think.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: I'll tell you what I know. Uh oh, they're a curse.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: You're right, Okay, yes, this. I can't even imagine how
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: unsettled I would be going into an Airbnb and not one.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: I mean I would I think I would get seasick
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: or something.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Even if it were a tiny home, I would expect
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: one mirror.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: Because you know they've got some stupid piece of art
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: on the wall.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: Yes, that should be a mirror, exactly.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: There's got a I mean, it's very interesting to think
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: about this sort of space.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: This is very like an experiment I didn't sign up
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: for though.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: It's very back rooms or liminal space sort of thing
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: where it's just like, oh and I'm trapped.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trapped. And doesn't it feel like an experiment? Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Like let's see how you do, Like.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Let's see what you find to reflect yourself in broken blast.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Like, let's put you in like Caveman time, right, I.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Mean, I guess it would be a good time to
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: just reflect on everything else or not reflect. I guess
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: that would maybe that could be Like the Airbnb is
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: like we have experiences. This could be the experience would
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: be they couldn't afford mirrors to put in. That's the
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: fall experience, right, and you pay more for it.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: If I end up in an Airbnb with an without
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: a mirror, I'm I'm finding a hotel for the night exactly.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: I'm in danger. Yes, well you got one out of three. Okay,
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: that's a.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: That's thirty three point threes three percent?
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: Yeah, endless threes. I think maybe there is a good number. Okay,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: will you hope me answer a listener question?
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: Yes, I love to all right.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: People are writing into I said no gifts at gmail
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: dot com. Let's get into the dock here. This may
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: be our longest email ever. Really, this is hello Bridger
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: and disobedient guest. Okay, I hope you can help me
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: with an issue that's been plaguing me for weeks recently,
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: my sister in law, who works full time as a
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: nurse's aide while also working on finishing her Bachelor of
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: Nursing degree, decided to open a small business selling homemade
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: breads and desserts. It's taken off like wildfire. She went
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: from pitching this idea around the start of the holidays
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: last year to baking everyone in our family homemade treats
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: as Christmas gifts, to make hundreds of dollars in sales,
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: and hosting a table at a locals farmer market within
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: the past month alone. Wow, she's a talented baker and
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: lovely person. We get it. Ye Okay, she got a
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: loaf of sour dough from this parton who's doing all
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: these different things? And there was a long human hair
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: baked into the bread. They didn't this person didn't eat
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: any of the hair, but the moment I saw it
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: realize how long it was and how embedded in the
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: bread it was, I was horrified. Oh, I fear this
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: may stay with me for years. Okay, then we're skipping. Okay, anyway,
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: let's see My question is I am possibly scarred for
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: life and don't know if I should tell her or not?
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: And we get no name there that they just said
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: love troubled listener, Get real, go this sister in law's
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: doing it all. Yes, I mean the first six paragraphs
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: of this ore. Like all of the things she's.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: Doing, she's doing it all.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I think she should put a piece of hair in
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: every loaf.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: It's like the baby in the in the king cake.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: If you find the hair, get off her back.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Wait, don't give her a break. She is a small
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: business owner. Yes, she's running her female business.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: We are supporting her.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: We're supporting her. Give her a break.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: She's uh in college, she's a nurse's aide. What has
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: this listener done other than write too long of an email.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: She's spending all of her time complaining yes, and an
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: email to you.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: Meanwhile, maybe I think it's a jealousy thing. I think
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: it's a like, look at Harriet. Yeah she does it all. Yeah,
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: I'm just sitting here on my laptop.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: But she had but yeah she's but look how she's
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: fucking it up.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: I mean, I think this listener planted the hair. I
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: don't care if she thinks it was baked in. I
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: think that this was planted.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: So she didn't take a bite, she didn't eat any
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: She like held up the bread and it had like
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: a sure.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: She made a huge deal Oh, I'm.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: Sure her husband.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: You have to hear all stopped hearing about now we're
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: hearing about it.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: I know, I'm sure all her coworkers are like enough.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I think there's like more things that she could be
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: worried about.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Create a whole.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Big list for her. Yeah, small beans. These are tiny beans.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: We don't need to worry about that.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, one hair and we know the source.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: You what are you going to suggest hairnets for her?
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: Actually not the worst idea.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Put your hair up, honey, while you're doing these.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: This feels like, you know, if she had written in
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: and said I want to protect my sister in law's business,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: she's obviously going against health code. What do I do?
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: This is what she does. She buys a second loaf. Okay,
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: if the second loaf has a hair, we have a
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: chit chat. If the second loaf is okay, let her
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: have her hair mistake.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, let her have one mistake. Demand your money back
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: for that loaf. Of course, of course, save the receipts.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Say I'm going to need one free loaf, I won't.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Tell you why. And then if there's a hair in that,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: then we burn down the business or buy hairness exactly
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: until then it's like, I mean, this sister in law,
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: it's enough.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I think she's got enough.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: She's she's working, she's oh, you have to wake up
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: so early to bake.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm sure you have to wake up early
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: to be a nurse's aid or go to college.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: Exactly. She's burning the candle.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Yeah, this woman hasn't gotten a minute of sleep. No,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: her hair is probably falling out because she's so tired.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Give her a rest.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Maybe it's she needs extensions.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Yeah, now get her hair and at her extensions. But
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: this is after buying a second loaf and discovering a
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: clump of hair, not just a piece of hair.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Now if there's more than one, yeah, if you're faking plump,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: then you build a case.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: Right. We've all had a hair in something exactly, and
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: we didn't even know who it came from.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: It was somebody from the back. And this, you know,
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: give her a break, No, give her.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: A break, give her a break. Wow. Well, I think
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: we answered that question perfectly, so and uh solved that
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: family's issues and saved to some small business. Probably, Yes,
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: that's what we do.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: I like to support small business.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: Well, I've got my beautiful candle. Yes, it does feel
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: slightly fired hazard fire hazardy.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: It does because it's paper, because.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: We've got just kind of loose paper around flame. I'll
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: light it. Maybe I should light it here in the studio.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Only you light it here in the studio, and then
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: if it gets out of control, I can quickly extinguish.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: I think it's I They may just color a little
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: bit right.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Their picture tans will fade.
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: Their tans may fade, but.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Their smiles won't.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: I think these are pretty sturdy, and I think you're
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: going to be praying and telling the truth and getting
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: so many answers.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Okay, let me just quickly. I'm going to do a
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: quick test to make sure I know all of them.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: Miranda Layla, Nope, okay, I've already failed.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: And when you burn it down, there's a special surprise
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: in there. You'll be reading a script because I use
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: the backs of oh Perfect. So as you go you'll
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: get a little you'll get some interesting right, don't you
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: go from a script that I don't know what it is.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Well, thank you for being here. I've had such a
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: nice time listener. The podcast is over. We've come to
