Latest / Lisa & Russell / Guinness Record Rubiks Cube : We Don't Think Anyone Else Has Been Stupid Enough To Do That
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I think they've just put a new book out. They have.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Literally just now. So there's been a real run of
- 0:06Speaker 1: trying to get into it. And we recently talked about blobbing,
- 0:10Speaker 1: which is when a couple of guys jump onto an
- 0:15Speaker 1: air mattress on the water and then there's someone on
- 0:18Speaker 1: the air mattress who gets flung.
- 0:20Speaker 2: The unlucky one.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's exactly what it sounds like. And that record
- 0:25Speaker 1: just got broken with someone being– Blobbed.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Is that the official term? It doesn't sound right, does it?
- 0:32Speaker 1: 92 feet or 28 meters into the air. So they
- 0:35Speaker 1: were thrilled to bits.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And they said, well, you know, if you think that's
- 0:39Speaker 2: a stupid record, there's a bloke in Nova Scotia who said, here,
- 0:42Speaker 2: hold my beer. And now he's had a go at it.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Rubik's cubes are often a fodder for record breaking. You know,
- 0:52Speaker 1: how quickly you can do it. So you've got to
- 0:54Speaker 1: find a way to mix it up. put a new
- 0:57Speaker 1: fresh slant on it. And this guy has. He's finally
- 1:00Speaker 1: achieved his long-time goal of making it into the Guinness
- 1:03Speaker 1: Book by solving 211 Rubik's Cubes.
- 1:05Speaker 2: That's impressive.
- 1:06Speaker 1: While bouncing on a pogo stick.
- 1:10Speaker 2: That's even more impressive.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Saul Hafting, he's 21 now. He was only 16 when
- 1:16Speaker 1: he took on the record. His record was approved a
- 1:20Speaker 1: year later. This was back in 2021. He did it.
- 1:22Speaker 1: He pogo sticked. Pogo stuck? I don't know. What is
- 1:28Speaker 1: the past?
- 1:29Speaker 2: He Pogo'd.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yes, he did. His record was finally approved in 2022,
- 1:35Speaker 1: beating the previous record of 65. Well, he smashed it,
- 1:38Speaker 1: didn't he?
- 1:39Speaker 2: Why did it take so long? Is there like a
- 1:42Speaker 2: scrutiny committee?
- 1:43Speaker 1: I don't know, to be honest.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Do they go back over, do they video it and,
- 1:48Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Review the video? Does the book come out every single year?
- 1:53Speaker 1: I think it does, yes. It comes out every year?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah. All right.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Well, he said, I'm in. Sol, Sol Hafting. He says
- 2:03Speaker 1: it wasn't until earlier this year that they finally received
- 2:06Speaker 1: an email from officials telling him he would be featured
- 2:09Speaker 1: in the Guinness World Records, which is now available in stores.
- 2:13Speaker 2: And Guinness Book of World Records went, okay. Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 2:19Speaker 2: We don't think anyone else has been stupid enough to
- 2:22Speaker 2: do that. So I guess you're in.
- 2:23Speaker 1: There seems to be quite a verification process, I guess.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Now he's been chosen to go on a media tour
- 2:30Speaker 1: to promote the latest volume of the book. So he said,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I'm very honoured and my record is unique and quite
- 2:36Speaker 1: the spectacle to see if I do a demonstration. Oh,
- 2:38Speaker 1: that's why they want him on the tour.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So he'll be just bouncing all around the world promoting. Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 2: On his little stick.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And solving. Solving and jumping and solving and bouncing and whatever. Okay.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You know what they need?
- 2:51Speaker 2: What do they need?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Blobbers doing Rubik's Cubes, solving a Rubik's Cube puzzle while
- 2:56Speaker 1: they're being flung into the air and to solve it
- 3:00Speaker 1: before they hit the ground.
- 3:01Speaker 2: See, now, Guinness, this is the problem, you see. When
- 3:03Speaker 2: you start, you know, making these things legit, you're just
- 3:07Speaker 2: encouraging this kind of stupid behaviour.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Call the blogger team.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, we anticipate eagerly what's next.
