- 1:44do it.

- 1:47Habits that Shape an Extraordinary Life.
- 1:50How to Build a Life You'll Be Proud
- 1:52of, Series 5, Show 30, Episode 7.
- 1:55That's what today's show is all about.
- 1:57Welcome to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:59I'm John C.
- 2:00Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:05podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 2:09Montclair State University, a passionate lifelong learner, and
- 2:13grateful to now be a published author.
- 2:16Every one of us is building a life
- 2:18one day at a time.
- 2:20The question isn't whether you're building one, the
- 2:22question is whether you're building one you'll be
- 2:24proud of.
- 2:26A meaningful life isn't measured only by accomplishments,
- 2:30income, or recognition.
- 2:31It's measured by the values you live by,
- 2:34the people you influence, the challenges you overcome,
- 2:37and the legacy you leave behind.
- 2:39Every choice you make shapes your future.
- 2:42Today I'm going to explore 30 principles that
- 2:46help us understand and intentionally build a life
- 2:49filled with purpose, growth, integrity, and lasting impact.
- 2:54Number one, guys, live intentionally.
- 2:58Don't drift through life hoping things work out.
- 3:02Decide what matters most and make daily choices
- 3:07that align with that vision.
- 3:10Intentional living creates meaningful direction.
- 3:13Number two, guys, stay true to your values.
- 3:16Your values become your compass during difficult decisions
- 3:19when your actions consistently reflect your principles, your
- 3:24building trust, guys, confidence, and of course, peace
- 3:28of mind.
- 3:29But sometimes people, for whatever reason, guys, they
- 3:32miss that whole concept.
- 3:34And maybe you're saying, John, I don't get
- 3:36this, I don't understand, but I'm here to
- 3:39tell you that it makes a difference.
- 3:40You have to be aware, okay?
- 3:45And that's an important thing, guys, a very,
- 3:49very important thing for us to understand.
- 3:53And maybe the thing you don't understand is
- 3:56that you have more power than you thought,
- 4:01okay?
- 4:01You've got more power than you actually thought.
- 4:03Number three, build meaningful relationships, guys.
- 4:06Life is richer when shared with people who
- 4:08encourage, challenge, and support you.
- 4:12Invest time in relationships that inspire growth and
- 4:16mutual respect.
- 4:19Number four, help others succeed.
- 4:22One of the greatest ways to create significance
- 4:25is by helping someone else reach their potential.
- 4:31Success becomes even more meaningful when it's shared.
- 4:35Number five, continue learning.
- 4:38Every experience has something to teach.
- 4:40Stay curious, ask questions, and remain open to
- 4:43new ideas.
- 4:44Because you see, growth never truly ends.
- 4:47Lead by example, all right?
- 4:49People often remember what you do more than
- 4:53what you say.
- 4:55Your actions reflect the character, integrity, and attitude
- 4:59you hope to inspire.
- 5:03That is in yourself and others.
- 5:06Number seven, create positive influence.
- 5:09Every interaction gives you an opportunity to encourage
- 5:12someone, solve a problem, or make a situation
- 5:15a little bit better.
- 5:17Positive influence starts with small daily actions.
- 5:20Number eight, stay grateful, guys.
- 5:22Gratitude shifts your attention from what's missing to
- 5:26what's already meaningful.
- 5:29Appreciating today's blessings creates greater joy while motivating
- 5:33you to continue growing.
- 5:36Number nine, celebrate progress.
- 5:38Don't wait until every goal is complete before
- 5:41recognizing your growth.
- 5:43Every step forward deserves acknowledgement because progress builds
- 5:47confidence.
- 5:49Number 10, invest in yourself.
- 5:52Your knowledge, health, skills, and character are lifelong
- 5:56investments.
- 5:58The more you develop yourself, the more opportunities
- 6:00you'll create throughout your life.
- 6:04Number 11, guys, building lasting habits.
- 6:08I'm not going to tell you that that's
- 6:09an easy thing to do, but it's something
- 6:11we all need to do, okay?
- 6:13We all need to do it.
- 6:14We all need to become a better version
- 6:16of ourselves.
- 6:17That is the real, I'll say, the real
- 6:21McGill, right?
- 6:22Number 11, building lasting habits.
- 6:25Success isn't built by occasional effort.
- 6:28It's created through habits repeated consistently over time.
- 6:32Positive routines make extraordinary results possible, right?
- 6:38Makes it possible.
- 6:41I know that a lot of you say
- 6:43this is not possible.
- 6:45It's impossible, but I'm here to tell you
- 6:46it is possible if you only believe that
- 6:50it's possible.
- 6:52If you only believe that it's possible.
- 6:54Number 12, please, ladies and gentlemen, focus on
- 6:57purpose.
- 6:57Purpose gives meaning to your work and direction
- 7:00to your decisions.
- 7:01When you know why you're doing something, staying
- 7:04motivated becomes much easier.
- 7:06Number 13, make every day count.
- 7:09Every day offers opportunities to grow, serve, and
- 7:12improve.
- 7:13Don't underestimate what small, consistent actions can accomplish
- 7:17over time.
- 7:19Number 14, choose kindness.
- 7:21Kindness costs very little, but often creates lasting
- 7:24memories.
- 7:26A thoughtful word, a helping hand, or even
- 7:29a genuine smile can positively change someone's entire
- 7:32day.
- 7:34Try that, guys.
- 7:35I mean, it doesn't cost any money to
- 7:38be kind to people.
- 7:40And you know what, guys?
- 7:41It goes a very, very long way.
- 7:44I think that's an important thing that many
- 7:46people miss.
- 7:47It goes a long way, and I wish
- 7:48more people would do it.
- 7:50I really do.
- 7:51Number 15, please build something meaningful.
- 7:55Whether it's a business, a family, a career,
- 7:58or a community, invest your energy into creating
- 8:02something that continues making a difference long after
- 8:06today.
- 8:07Encourage others.
- 8:09One encouraging conversation can change someone's direction.
- 8:13You never know what another person is facing,
- 8:16so choose words that build confidence, offer hope,
- 8:21or remind people of their potential.
- 8:23Encouragement has a lasting impact that often extends
- 8:26far beyond the moment.
- 8:30Number 17, stay humble, folks.
- 8:33Humility keeps you grounded regardless of your accomplishments.
- 8:39I think that's an important one for us
- 8:41to understand, our own accomplishments.
- 8:45It reminds us that there's always more to
- 8:48learn and another opportunity to grow.
- 8:51Confident people don't need to prove they're important.
- 8:54They let their character speak for itself.
- 8:57Never stop growing, guys.
- 8:59Never.
- 8:59Personal growth isn't a destination.
- 9:01It's a lifelong commitment.
- 9:05Continue expanding your knowledge, strengthening your skills, and
- 9:10improving your character because every season of life
- 9:13offers new opportunities to become better.
- 9:17Number 19, keep moving forward.
- 9:20There will always be setbacks, disappointments, and unexpected
- 9:24detours.
- 9:25Don't allow temporary obstacles to become permanent excuses.
- 9:30Learn from them, adjust your course, and continue
- 9:34taking the next step toward your goals.
- 9:38I think sometimes we don't reach our goals
- 9:43because of what someone else said, not because
- 9:46of what's truth, but because of what someone
- 9:49else said at the moment that's actually taking
- 9:52us away from who we are.
- 9:54I think that's a very important thing for
- 9:57us to understand.
- 9:59Live with integrity.
- 10:03Integrity means doing the right thing even when
- 10:05no one else is watching.
- 10:07This reminds me of a commercial that was
- 10:09on TV.
- 10:11They were loading the luggages, baggages, or whatever,
- 10:17on a plane.
- 10:21It was funny.
- 10:23When they knew they were being watched, the
- 10:25camera was on, they knew they were being
- 10:26watched.
- 10:27They were being so nice.
- 10:28They were dusting off the luggage, being very
- 10:32careful with it.
- 10:33Well, another day, it didn't seem like anybody
- 10:36was watching.
- 10:38So they just threw the luggage anyway.
- 10:42Didn't care.
- 10:43They only did what was right when they
- 10:46know somebody was watching because they didn't want
- 10:47to get in trouble.
- 10:49So this creates a trust.
- 10:51It strengthens your reputation.
- 10:52It allows you to build a life based
- 10:54on honesty and consistency.
- 10:56Not hiding to do something just because it
- 10:59might seem convenient.
- 11:00Character is one of the greatest assets you're
- 11:01ever going to possess.
- 11:03I'm going to tell you that right now.
- 11:04Number 21, make your work matter.
- 11:08You know, everybody's work is worth something.
- 11:11Everybody's work has a value.
- 11:14Everybody.
- 11:16So why not embrace that value?
- 11:19Whatever you choose to do, give it your
- 11:21best effort.
- 11:22Meaningful work isn't defined only by a job
- 11:26title or even income.
- 11:28It's defined by the value you create and
- 11:30the positive difference you make through your efforts.
- 11:34I've said this once before.
- 11:35People don't care what you gave them.
- 11:39Okay.
- 11:41People will forget all the things you did
- 11:44for them.
- 11:45But the only thing that they will never
- 11:47forget and they'll remember their whole life is
- 11:49how you made them feel.
- 11:51So make people feel special.
- 11:55Number 22, build a positive legacy.
- 12:00Did you know that every decision contributes to
- 12:02the legacy you're creating?
- 12:04Focus on leaving behind kindness, wisdom, encouragement, and
- 12:11integrity.
- 12:13A meaningful legacy is built through consistent actions
- 12:16over a lifetime.
- 12:18So we don't need to rush them and
- 12:20have them all done in five minutes, guys.
- 12:22There's no need for any of that.
- 12:24No need for that.
- 12:25And I think those that act from that
- 12:28premise that, you know, we have to do
- 12:30this now because somebody's watching or if I
- 12:34do this this way, somebody else is not
- 12:35going to be able to understand.
- 12:37Right.
- 12:38But really, they will understand.
- 12:39I think the person that understands the most
- 12:42is how you become something.
- 12:46And you become something by doing the right
- 12:53thing, even when no one else is watching.
- 13:03Very interesting.
- 13:04Right.
- 13:12I think that's important.
- 13:18And I think the more that we become
- 13:27aware of things, the more we can have
- 13:31gratitude, the more that we can actually make
- 13:34a difference, not only in our own lives,
- 13:37but in other people's lives.
- 13:40You know, I've seen people before, and I
- 13:44think what happens is sometimes people just don't
- 13:47get it.
- 13:49OK.
- 13:53And I think that happens because of a
- 13:56feeling.
- 13:57OK.
- 13:59A feeling that maybe we're on the right
- 14:03track, maybe we're on the wrong track.
- 14:08Right.
- 14:08Maybe.
- 14:11So that's a very important thing.
- 14:14And that happens from our own choice, which
- 14:21creates our perspective, doesn't it?
- 14:25It creates our perspective.
- 14:33I can say that life changes
- 14:43when you change the perspective.
- 14:47A wise person once said something, rest his
- 14:49soul right now, Dr. Dwayne Dyer.
- 14:53And he learned something from Patanjali, which was
- 14:56his mentor.
- 15:00And Patanjali told him this.
- 15:02When you change the way you look at
- 15:04things, the things you look at change.
- 15:07When you change the way you look at
- 15:09things, the things will change.
- 15:10When you change the way we look at
- 15:11things, the things we look at change.
- 15:14So number 23, inspire through action.
- 15:20People are inspired by what they see others
- 15:23consistently doing.
- 15:24Let your daily habits, positive attitude, and commitment
- 15:29to excellence encourage others to believe more is
- 15:33possible for themselves.
- 15:38The belief becomes the tipping point that gets
- 15:46us to push a little more.
- 15:50Gets us to take an extra step.
- 15:55Maybe one that we're not comfortable with.
- 15:57Because I've said that success lies where we're
- 16:02uncomfortable.
- 16:03That's where it starts.
- 16:04We're 24, guys.
- 16:06Stay disciplined.
- 16:09Discipline gives you the ability to remain committed
- 16:11when motivation fades.
- 16:14It keeps you moving toward your purpose, regardless
- 16:19of temporary feelings or even circumstances.
- 16:22Consistent discipline creates lasting achievement.
- 16:26You need structure.
- 16:29You need consistency, guys, over and over and
- 16:32over again, over and over and over again.
- 16:38I think that makes a big difference.
- 16:48I think that is the real piece.
- 16:51That is the real crux of the puzzle,
- 16:54how we can change based on our perspectives.
- 17:08And if we do what Patanjali says, when
- 17:11we change the way we look at things,
- 17:12we look at change, we can't go back
- 17:17into that direction again.
- 17:20Because we've changed our focus.
- 17:26And when we change our focus, it's like
- 17:31we've input a different address in the GPS
- 17:34system.
- 17:36Once we tell the car that we don't
- 17:38want to go to this restaurant, we want
- 17:40to go to this restaurant instead, the car
- 17:42forgets about the directions to that place and
- 17:44follows new directions.
- 17:48The thing is, with people, when we do
- 17:50it, the refresh isn't instant like it is
- 17:54with the GPS system.
- 17:56It takes time for it to make a
- 17:58change.
- 17:59Number 25, guys, value every opportunity that you
- 18:04have.
- 18:07Every opportunity, whether it's large or it's small,
- 18:12has the potential to teach you something valuable.
- 18:18Approach each experience with gratitude and a willingness
- 18:21to give your best because today's opportunity may
- 18:24lead to tomorrow's breakthrough.
- 18:27Now, I know you're saying to me, John,
- 18:28you're crazy, you're nuts.
- 18:29Well, I'm here to tell you that it's
- 18:31the little shifts every day that get us
- 18:34to be successful, the little shifts.
- 18:42That's important, guys, the little shifts, the little
- 18:52shifts.
- 18:58I think that's something that many people don't
- 19:02understand, the little shifts.
- 19:11The little shifts get us to, again, change.
- 19:20They get us to see there's a lot
- 19:23more around.
- 19:26They get us to see that what we
- 19:28were once looking at, we didn't change.
- 19:33All we changed was our perspective.
- 19:39When we change our perspective, our reticular activating
- 19:45system says, huh, you've changed what we're focusing
- 19:49on, haven't you?
- 19:52Okay, I'm going to be aware of different
- 19:54things now.
- 19:57That's the thing that most people don't understand.
- 20:01If I said to you right now to
- 20:02sit in a chair and sit in that
- 20:05chair on the edge as if you were
- 20:08a tiger, and you could hear the slightest
- 20:12pin drop or even less, do it.
- 20:19You'd be like, wait a minute, this actually
- 20:21works.
- 20:22It does, because it gets in your imagination.
- 20:26And your imagination is very good about helping
- 20:30your body to do something it wants.
- 20:33The problem is most people's imagination is not
- 20:36practiced.
- 20:38And then when they turn it on, it's
- 20:39like the grill.
- 20:40The grill hasn't even been used.
- 20:41So I guess it doesn't work.
- 20:44You've got to practice.
- 20:47You've got to practice.
- 20:49That's the biggest thing I could tell you.
- 20:50You've got to practice over and over again.
- 20:52So ladies and gentlemen, success is shared.
- 20:55Life becomes more meaningful when you celebrate the
- 21:00accomplishments of others.
- 21:02Supporting, mentoring, and encouraging people around you create
- 21:06stronger relationships and a more positive community.
- 21:10Success grows when it's shared.
- 21:12Number 27, create a lasting impact.
- 21:14True impact isn't measured by popularity or recognition.
- 21:18It's measured by the lives you improve, the
- 21:20problems you solve, and the hope you bring
- 21:23to others.
- 21:24Focus on making a difference that continues long
- 21:26after you're gone.
- 21:29Number 28, believe in your potential.
- 21:32Never, never, never, never underestimate what consistent effort
- 21:36and personal growth can accomplish.
- 21:38You are capable of learning, adapting, and achieving
- 21:42more than you may currently believe.
- 21:45Continue investing in yourself and trust the journey.
- 21:49Trust that journey.
- 21:51Number 29, your life can inspire others.
- 21:55You don't have to be famous to influence
- 21:57someone.
- 21:57Your perseverance, kindness, integrity, and positive example may
- 22:01encourage someone else to keep going when they
- 22:04need it most.
- 22:04Never underestimate the power of your example, never.
- 22:14Great lives are built one intentional day at
- 22:22a time.
- 22:27Extraordinary lives aren't created overnight.
- 22:31They're built through intentional choices, meaningful habits, and
- 22:37consistent actions that are connected to our own
- 22:40core values that are repeated every day.
- 22:43Every decision you make today becomes another brick
- 22:47in the foundation of life that you'll be
- 22:50proud of tomorrow what you're building.
- 22:52And I know that sounds crazy.
- 22:54But as I get ready to wrap up
- 22:56the show today, building a life you'll be
- 22:59proud of isn't about chasing perfection.
- 23:02It's about living with purpose, making thoughtful decisions,
- 23:06serving others, and becoming a little better every
- 23:08day.
- 23:08Every act of kindness, every lesson learned, every
- 23:11challenge overcome, and every opportunity embraced shapes the
- 23:14legacy you're creating right now.
- 23:17Remember that your greatest accomplishments may just be
- 23:22the ones that never appear on a resume.
- 23:26They'll be found in the lives you encourage,
- 23:29the relationships you build, the integrity you demonstrate,
- 23:34and the positive influence you leave behind.
- 23:38Continue, ladies and gentlemen, living intentionally, growing consistently,
- 23:47and believing that every day gives you another
- 23:50opportunity to build a life filled with meaning,
- 23:55purpose, and lasting impact.
- 23:58Jeez, that's powerful.
- 24:00I thank you so much for joining me
- 24:02for another amazing episode of Inspirations for Your
- 24:04Life.
- 24:04I'm John C.
- 24:06Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 24:10podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 24:13Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 24:17grateful now to be a published author.
- 24:20Ladies and gentlemen, until next time, choose your
- 24:23actions with purpose.
- 24:26Please invest in the people around you.
- 24:30Stay true to your values, and remember that
- 24:34great lives are never built by accident.
- 24:38No, they're not built by accident.
- 24:42They're built by intentional choices, which are wired
- 24:49to our core values.
- 24:53Success is not an accident.
- 24:55Maybe you learned something about how to be
