- 0:00Hello everyone and welcome to the random Heathen ramblings
- 0:03podcast, where we discuss all sorts of things Germanic,
- 0:06Heathen re related. My name is Jessie.
- 0:09I am your host. Let's get into it.
- 0:32Well Halen. Hello everyone.
- 0:33Welcome back to this week's episode of the random even
- 0:35ramblings podcast, brought to you by electronics and
- 0:41technology and myself glad you all could listen to.
- 0:45Nin, watch participate. In the ways that you do, it's
- 0:49always greatly appreciated, don't forget to smash that like
- 0:52button, subscribe, share, upvote follow, whatever the thing that
- 0:58you're listening or watching this on.
- 1:01Elicits for you to engage with then please do.
- 1:05So today's episode is a going to be about the land fatir where
- 1:13the land whites may hear that term they tear or White's W.
- 1:19IG HT s used interchangeably to describe these Spiritual Beings.
- 1:25So we're going to talk about it today and it The the topic
- 1:31itself as actually something that I've surprised I'm
- 1:34surprised that I haven't dived deeper or Dove deeper jumped, in
- 1:38deeper, whatever delved deeper like the dwarves delved deep
- 1:45into this topic. I've mentioned, you know, this
- 1:48in many other like midgard, musings videos.
- 1:51I've talked about the topic of the Vets here and our
- 1:54relationships, how you humans, and And of a tear interact and
- 2:01commingle and cohabitate in other podcasts as well.
- 2:04But I've never from what I can remember or recall, you know,
- 2:08really. Took a took a whole episode into
- 2:13discussing this topic and I can't remember who or where I
- 2:20saw a comment or a message. I actually scoured through my
- 2:25various social platforms to see where the comment or where the
- 2:28message had come up on. And unfortunately, I don't
- 2:32remember where or who sent this question in or a comment and but
- 2:38it It made me think about it and again, I can't even remember
- 2:43what the question with the comment was, but I know it had
- 2:45something to do with the VT R and I thought well what what
- 2:50better way to go into this topic then to podcast about it.
- 2:54So again, I apologize for whoever it is if you're
- 2:58listening or watching this that, you know, spark to this
- 3:01conversation, if I knew who it was, I would definitely credit
- 3:07you for it so far. Ah, geez for that.
- 3:11But here we are here. We are talking about it, and
- 3:16the, the topic specifically is going to be on that of honoring.
- 3:21The Vets here or venerating the VT r, or in some sort of way
- 3:26interacting and working with debate here.
- 3:30So, I mentioned, you know, moments ago that this term VT r
- 3:34or whites. Gets used interchangeably and
- 3:38that's what the VTR are in other Pagan practices or in other
- 3:45cultures you may hear things being referred to as like the
- 3:50PHA or fairies or, you know, other terms and different
- 3:57cultures. I'm not too familiar with what
- 4:01other cultures make all these things.
- 4:02But I think a lot of cultures, if not, every, you know, And
- 4:06culture at least at one point in time, has a concept of what in
- 4:10in Germanic paganism gets called of a tear or whites.
- 4:16So these are, these are spirits. These are unseen Spiritual
- 4:19Beings that exist in the land around us.
- 4:28And so that's what we're talking about you, if you are another
- 4:32Pagan of a different variety and you use the term like a or
- 4:36farrier or any other sort of, you know, word to describe these
- 4:41beings than you can possibly relate to that.
- 4:44And I know different cultures, have different folklore
- 4:47surrounding these beings, and, and such.
- 4:51And how they exist or interact with, with humans mankind,
- 4:57right? But I'm going to talk today
- 4:58specifically around what I do know, at least a limited
- 5:02knowledge that I have and in my experience with working And
- 5:06interacting with the land fits here.
- 5:10So To start with there. There are some Source materials
- 5:18that will be annotated, first of all in the description and show
- 5:21notes of the podcast that you can, you know, look into
- 5:24yourself. But I'm going to just do a quick
- 5:28reference to some Source materials of where that we know
- 5:33of at least that Northern European people specifically in
- 5:37Scandinavia the Scandinavian countries had this mentioned in
- 5:42some of these again, sources going to start with.
- 5:46First of all, the Icelandic book of settlement or whether it is
- 5:50also called the lung that number book. somewhere in that book, I
- 5:56have it, I just It's eluding me where specifically but somewhere
- 6:01in that book it was actually at one point in time a law passed
- 6:05in in Iceland where the bow of ships, the front of the ships
- 6:10should not have these dragon heads on them, something along
- 6:15those lines, right? Something along the lines of
- 6:16the, you shouldn't have these or could not.
- 6:19It was against the law at the time to have these, you know,
- 6:23fearful looking menacing-looking images on the boughs of your
- 6:27ships, because When they would sail in and approach the shores,
- 6:34these images, these likenesses of mythological beasts of
- 6:39frightening nature could scare the fatir or frightened of it
- 6:42here and cause them to either leave or or not be present and
- 6:51active in the land. Now, why would something like
- 6:55that? Need to be a law at the time and
- 6:57it goes back to again, the the Local or Regional beliefs of
- 7:03these people. So the VT R are generally
- 7:06understood as being some sort of protectors or Guardians, as it
- 7:11were of the land, they are active spirits of the Unseen
- 7:17nature. You know, they they're, they're
- 7:18not visible to the physical eye and they have a place in the
- 7:24land to again, protect it from harm to protect the land from
- 7:29Especially when it comes to like agricultural.
- 7:31Things, the people believe that as long as the vator are pleased
- 7:37and happy that they would, you know, have success with with
- 7:41their crops that the land would flourish that there would be
- 7:43peace. You know, that there wouldn't
- 7:45be, no, you wouldn't be rated or invaded or have, you know, these
- 7:49sorts of things. So there was there was a
- 7:51generalized belief that you don't want to piss the VTR off.
- 7:55You don't want to upset them and you want to keep them happy.
- 7:58So what are ways to keep I'm happy as in this particular case
- 8:01and alumni my book, there was a law in Iceland that there's no
- 8:04the bowels of ships should not have these appearances of
- 8:07dragons on because that could frighten the fatir and drive
- 8:11them away. There's also another source, I
- 8:15believe it's The Saga of King Olaf.
- 8:17Tioga, Pass on tear gas on. Again, I'll be linked in the
- 8:21description below and annotated in the podcast show notes.
- 8:25But in That's The Saga of King Olaf.
- 8:27There is a men Action of the King was looking to invade
- 8:32Iceland, believe it was Iceland but he was looking to invade and
- 8:37as The Saga goes. And again, this is like a rough
- 8:44retelling of it. It's don't, you know, go find it
- 8:47yourself. I'll have it linked down below,
- 8:49but in the Saga, the king sends a wizard.
- 8:53Or has a has a, has a wizard employed under his on his
- 8:58retinue to go and investigate the landscape to see where the
- 9:04best ways to invade would be in this.
- 9:08Wizard under the Kings retinue Journeys off, in the form of a
- 9:12shape-shifts into the form of a whale and is, you know,
- 9:19basically doing a Recon of the shorelines and the area
- 9:23surrounding Iceland and each place that this wizard in the
- 9:28form of a whale reaches. He is met by different.
- 9:31They tear and the VTR take on different forms.
- 9:34There's a giant, there's a bull. There's a like a dragon.
- 9:37And I think an eagle, right? And so essentially, every place
- 9:43that he goes in these four corners, the the it is, it is
- 9:46determined right? That the land is protected by
- 9:51these various forces, and he's met with the opposition by these
- 9:55forces, by these Spiritual Beings that make themselves
- 9:58manifest to this Wizard, and the form of a, well, as these
- 10:01various creatures of, you know, either mythological or natural
- 10:07form. And so with the, the interesting
- 10:12thing about that is that those they tear the, the likenesses
- 10:18that the VTR took form of are represented even still in
- 10:23Icelandic coat of arms, right up here.
- 10:27This this image right here again, for those listening, I'll
- 10:32provide Source material in the links in the description or show
- 10:36notes for you guys to click on this image.
- 10:38Image that represents the this old Saga.
- 10:43You know, semi old Saga. At least.
- 10:46So And then I've also learned of other sources.
- 10:52I forget if it's Iceland or Sweden or something basically,
- 10:55wear. There's this, this this person.
- 11:01And again if it's a saga it's going to be linked down below.
- 11:04It's going to be anti to below. But there's a story perhaps a
- 11:06saga of someone who was visited in a Dream by and again this
- 11:15again the the side whether it's a saga or whether it's a more
- 11:18modern storytelling, I want to say it's a more modern thing and
- 11:23it's either Icelander Sweden. But this, this this guy has a
- 11:25dream where There's there's, there's work that needs to be
- 11:29done excavation. They're going to tear down a
- 11:32part of the land, the authorities, the government or
- 11:37something like that. At the time, we're going to do
- 11:39some sort of modification to the land.
- 11:42And this man has a dream where he is approached by this by this
- 11:47being, if it's a woman or think it's a woman.
- 11:50If I remember correctly, where she tells him in his dream that
- 11:55don't do anything until We can move out and it specifically
- 12:01centralized around this rock or large Boulder or something like
- 12:04that. Like you know, so you know the
- 12:08man tells the the authorities and whatnot, hey, we can't do
- 12:12anything because of his dream that I had and they're like,
- 12:15okay, whatever dude. And I'm not there's there's a
- 12:19There's some Aid that the guy gets if it's from another agency
- 12:23and other government or something, where they they hold
- 12:25off long enough or for a long enough period of time where this
- 12:31and this man has another dream and he is he is Revisited by
- 12:35this by this by this Forest by the Spirit by this woman by his
- 12:39whatever whoever she is that says okay it's good.
- 12:42We've relocated you can you can do what you need to do now.
- 12:49So there is there's you know, you can, but you may call it
- 12:51Superstition, you may call it, you know, the police or the
- 12:55regional folklore. But there is definitely a lot of
- 13:01evidence that in northern Europe and Scandinavia has as well.
- 13:06There's this specialized Focus specifically to the spirits of
- 13:12the land on. This has nothing to do with the
- 13:14realm of the Gods. You know this Has nothing to do
- 13:18with what I would refer to as the Divine or the sacred Realms,
- 13:21because the gods and the sacred, the Divine, you know, that that
- 13:25is on its own level and that is on its own thing.
- 13:29What we are talking about here today, are the V8 hear the
- 13:31spirits that link exists in profane space.
- 13:35So they are we are cohabitants of midgard with these Spirits,
- 13:41these forces, right, these unseen beings.
- 13:44And you know, so, So I've seen comments on when I announced
- 13:51that this was going to be the podcast topic for this week.
- 13:54You know, I saw comments from a lot of people saying, this is a
- 13:57topic that needs to be discussed more.
- 13:59You know, thank you. I'm excited, right?
- 14:00A lot of positivity and I want to say thank you to everyone
- 14:03that did respond in such a way because I'm excited to talk
- 14:06about this and I agree. You know, I've agreed for a long
- 14:09time that there's not enough Focus to me, at least, not from
- 14:15what I see. There's not enough Focus. up to
- 14:18recently, especially of these types of things of how we
- 14:22interact and how we deal with The things that are literally
- 14:26right in our backyards you know that that exist in the same
- 14:31space and time perceptions that we do, you know so we're not
- 14:35talking about entering into a ritual with the Divine and
- 14:41creating Sacred Space. We are talking about dealing
- 14:44with with forces and spirits that exist in profane space.
- 14:48Even though the we can't see them, they still exist.
- 14:51And that is one part that I want to eventually touch on here.
- 14:53Is today is that what we can or cannot?
- 14:55Nazi doesn't you know, negate its existence, you know.
- 15:02So there's also is before I move on.
- 15:06There's also one other particular Source, that a lot of
- 15:13people may be familiar with, especially if you're a dramatic
- 15:16or Norse, you know, dramatic even Germanic Pagan or Pagan,
- 15:18whatever, northern European flavor of variety of paganism.
- 15:23The Saga of a Google Scholar, Crimson or agiel saga.
- 15:28In that Saga agiel. I believe it's a deal, right?
- 15:31He erects a knees Pole, or need strong and the, the needing pole
- 15:40that the need stung, Is a, it's meant to frighten deter and
- 15:49almost in a way curse, the land, you know, and I think there's
- 15:53other source materials that, that make mention of need songs.
- 15:57And there's even things of a more modern reconstruction of
- 16:03that. The purpose is served the same
- 16:07way, right? It's intended to be a deterrent,
- 16:10a A curse in a way and in this Saga, Vegas kg and you know this
- 16:15this nice tan that he that he directs and faces towards the
- 16:19king the kings land or whatever is is meant to be a frightening
- 16:25thing to scare the fatir off into pissed of a tear off and to
- 16:28make that realm, you know, unpeaceful and unfruitful, and,
- 16:35and Barren and all these sorts of things, right?
- 16:38So, again, multiple examples that we have We know of at least
- 16:42of different time at different times, and in different ways
- 16:46that people knew or had a belief that they shared space with
- 16:52unseen spirits, and that just because you couldn't see, them
- 16:58does not mean that they are less powerful or that they are not in
- 17:04any sort of way, less active or present.
- 17:08And so, how do we, you know, push push that?
- 17:11At into into a modern Heathen approach into modern paganism in
- 17:14the way that we do things now because again, so wait.
- 17:17So many of the things that we're done, way back in the day, may
- 17:20not be practical or in the same way.
- 17:22You know, the way that things can be done.
- 17:27Now, however, when it comes to the vet here, I think that it
- 17:32is, it is absolutely an important part of of Are pagan
- 17:36beliefs, regardless of, you know, what you want to label
- 17:39yourself as or Or call yourself how we interact and deal with
- 17:46these unseen Spirits is a very important thing.
- 17:50And I'll tell you why, I believe that they were here first, you
- 17:56know, we are guests in their house as it were like when we
- 18:00see so many things happening in the modern world.
- 18:04Now, you know, we see these terrible disasters, you know,
- 18:09train derailments And explosions and you know, all these various,
- 18:16these things that that hurt the land, you know. just the way
- 18:25that humans have have become not everybody but you know on a
- 18:31large scale the way that the human race, you know, the human
- 18:34species have become so reckless, but the way that the land is
- 18:40respected Beloved. Honored, right?
- 18:47It's it's terrible and and it's and it shows right when we
- 18:52mistreat the land, you know, again, they were here first, we
- 18:56came in and we tore down the forests.
- 18:58We, you know, laid waste to land that, you know, so that way, so
- 19:07that way, what we could build these cities and we could pile,
- 19:10people asked us to elbows. And build businesses and grow,
- 19:16you know, great modern wonders, and all these things that, you
- 19:19know, you can look back and say that they were, you know,
- 19:22advances of technology and advances of the human race and
- 19:25so on and so forth. And, you know, you have to some
- 19:28degree, you can go, you know, there's been some good and some
- 19:32benefit out of it all, but when it comes to the things of like
- 19:36the destructive nature that, We, you know, a lot of the, the
- 19:40human race seems to have no care or concern for the ramifications
- 19:46for the consequences that result in mistreating.
- 19:53The spirits of the land. That were here first that we
- 19:57invaded. in a way, you know, and and and took over So, how do we
- 20:05Rectify it? How do we fix it in a way?
- 20:07How do we, how do we make the fatir happy again?
- 20:12I think it starts at the very basic individual level, you
- 20:16know? And when one person starts
- 20:18something, it it inspires other people to start doing things.
- 20:23And then when more people start doing it, it gets noticed, and
- 20:26the word spreads and the awareness is made, you know,
- 20:29that much more visible and you get more people jumping on board
- 20:34and doing things. That collectively result in a
- 20:37positive outcome. There's another channel here on
- 20:42YouTube, there's another Gentleman on social media is a
- 20:47he's a he's a doctor, I believe it Danish dr.
- 20:51Arun Rasmussen he's a Nordic animism is his channel and his
- 20:57Facebook Persona, right? The the page.
- 21:01But yeah. He's big on and Nordic animism.
- 21:06And that translates back to, you know, our connection to, you
- 21:10know, natural existence, right, with the animals, with the, with
- 21:14the land and all these sorts of things, he's got a really great,
- 21:20he's got really great content. Really, very knowledgeable.
- 21:23So, I encourage you guys to check it all out Nordic,
- 21:25animism, I'll link his stuff down in the comments to and in
- 21:29the description and show notes. So you guys can check on his
- 21:33stuff out, but he's one of the ones that I see doing, you know,
- 21:37using his platform to raise awareness of You know we got to
- 21:44take care of the land. We got to take care of our home,
- 21:49right? Because we all live here and
- 21:52really and raising awareness for that sort of thing.
- 21:56And again, it's one person using a platform that he has a great
- 21:59voice in to share that and raise that awareness.
- 22:04So, you know, I think about this type of thing.
- 22:07And, you know, let you know some people were saying, you know,
- 22:09this this this conversation needs to be made more of there,
- 22:11needs to be more talks about this and I do agree because
- 22:14again these are the, these are the forces that we share space
- 22:18and time with So on the individual level, right?
- 22:21I'm talking about all these things, what can we do?
- 22:23How can we do it? It starts with you, it starts
- 22:26with me and starts with us wherever we are wherever we
- 22:31live, you know, for me I live in a fairly residential You know,
- 22:40area and it's only getting built up more and more.
- 22:42There's more Apartments being built, there's more condos being
- 22:45built. There's more land being
- 22:50Decimated to build more housing, you know, we are overpopulated,
- 22:56you're in in this part of Tennessee where I live, it's
- 23:00evident by the rise in crime, the rise in just accidents, you
- 23:07know, two tragedies that sort of thing.
- 23:09And I have to, you know, I can't help.
- 23:12But wonder if the as a result of these things like yeah, sure.
- 23:15You know, the more people you put into a central concentrated
- 23:19area, you know, the advance. It's these things are going to
- 23:21increase crime, is going to go up and not all these sorts of
- 23:24things, these problems are going to arise, but where else can we
- 23:29look, right. We are tearing apart this land
- 23:32and have we infuriated the fatir so much that their protection
- 23:38that was here. Once before has abandoned us, we
- 23:41have been abandoned by the Guardians Of this land.
- 23:46And so it's no wonder that, you know, accidents are happening
- 23:49and deaths are occurring in such tragedies and things are
- 23:51happening. We are outside of the protection
- 23:55of these spirits that we've the, you know, whose homes we've
- 23:59destroyed. That's where I think, that's
- 24:03what I think. So what I Look to focus on is in
- 24:06my little spot. My little place, you know, is to
- 24:10keep the land happy, take care of the land.
- 24:14How do we do that? Well, we can, I do how I do it.
- 24:19I should say is first of all, keep a keep a tidy place, you
- 24:25know, think about, you know, visiting, someone's home or
- 24:28visiting a person's home and, you know, and if it's you know,
- 24:32all up in arms and just you know, things are overgrown and
- 24:35it's a An unorganized mess, right?
- 24:42Are you less likely or more likely to visit?
- 24:46You know, I would, you know, not not every person's home needs to
- 24:50be, you know, white glove, you know?
- 24:54Everything has its place. Like there's there's there's a
- 24:57degree I think, too. You know, a happy mess, you
- 25:02know, or whatever the term and you want to call it is.
- 25:05It's you know, it's it's it's delightfully unorganized.
- 25:08You know, there's some like I look my house isn't perfect my
- 25:11wife and I keep a decent home, you know, and there's certain
- 25:14things that have a little bit of disarray, but as a general rule,
- 25:18I feel like it is a welcoming place.
- 25:20And I translate that into the, the land that I cohabitate with
- 25:25these Spirits with is, is my is the land that I'm on their land
- 25:29to begin with because again, Then they were here.
- 25:31First, is the land that I am leasing from them borrowing for
- 25:34them while I'm here for this space and time being well
- 25:37maintained and well ordered to keep them happy.
- 25:40Do they like it? Are they happy?
- 25:42And from my you know, time that I've been here it's you know a
- 25:46resounding yes because there hasn't been a whole lot of
- 25:50turmoil or disruption You know, because they are kept happy, it
- 25:57doesn't take a whole lot to piss them off, you know, they
- 26:00expected. Now we've set the expectation of
- 26:04it being orderly calm peaceful, right?
- 26:08And when things aren't that way when there's turmoil and when
- 26:11there's it's well-known you know we get those little nods or
- 26:16signs or whatever like hey man get your stuff together.
- 26:20We happy. You know.
- 26:24Now. The ways to keep the VTA are
- 26:28happy. Now, I had talked about
- 26:30interacting with them, honoring them.
- 26:36I look at it this way. if I have a friend, you know, somebody
- 26:41that I like to take like to hang out with, and spend time with
- 26:44you, I'm going to do things with that person frequently.
- 26:47I'm gonna, you know, talk to them regularly.
- 26:50I'm going to maybe have lunch or dinner, or a meal, maybe a
- 26:55drink, go on a hike interact, right?
- 26:59Do things with each other on a regular basis and that That
- 27:06behavior that action secures for us, this bond of friendship,
- 27:12right? And when it comes to people,
- 27:15when it comes to our nearest and dearest our friends are can our
- 27:19kith, right? It is it is establishing
- 27:24building, and maintaining what we would refer to in the Heathen
- 27:26areas potentially frith, you know, fourth is, you know
- 27:31there's there's a sense of obligation trust piece.
- 27:36All these things. Similarly, not exactly.
- 27:40But similarly the way that we interact, the things that we do
- 27:45with the Unseen builds relationship, I don't think that
- 27:49the same thing applies because I don't, you know, there again,
- 27:51fourth is mutual obligation. What you do for me, you know, I,
- 27:56you know what you do for me? I do for you.
- 27:57There's this again, there's this reciprocation thing involved.
- 28:00I don't think the same thing applies to the VT R per se,
- 28:05because they are not bound by the same social constructs as
- 28:07humans. Are They don't have that
- 28:11barriers to find. They are they are by all intents
- 28:14and purposes outside of that in in guard that that in inner
- 28:18yard, social structure that social construct.
- 28:21So first, I don't think this is the right word to apply here in
- 28:24that sense. However, there is definitely
- 28:28signs that you can read and see Omens perhaps that can be given
- 28:34where hey, what I'm doing, is keeping them happy.
- 28:36Like they're, they're cool. They're going to be cool with
- 28:39me, and I'm going to be cool with them.
- 28:40And we have this, you know, unspoken agreement as it were
- 28:43of, as long as things are such and such a way.
- 28:46We'll, we'll keep things such and such a way over here on this
- 28:49end, right? Doing things like, again, taking
- 28:54care of the property, keeping the land.
- 28:56Looking pretty right, appearing. Pleasant to the eyes.
- 29:02Also doing things like gifting to them.
- 29:05I've made posts throughout time, you know, especially when it
- 29:07comes to like Times of sparseness, right?
- 29:10The winter, the harsh months. Give thing to the fatir to make
- 29:16sure that they're okay, right? Things like a fruits,
- 29:20vegetables, nuts seeds, right? Things that are consumed by The
- 29:25Land, by the VTR, by the physical representations, of the
- 29:29Vitara, like I mentioned earlier in, in The Saga of King Olaf,
- 29:33you know, and that wizard, he's in, he's away.
- 29:34Alright, he's going around, he's finding all these the fatir are
- 29:38represented in physical form as creatures of both mythological
- 29:41and natural. Forms to the same degree.
- 29:45I feel that the fatir now can be represented in physical form.
- 29:51When we see birds or other creatures of the land that
- 29:59again, not necessarily all. But but Ken have a place that
- 30:05they tear take physical form in the in, in these Woodland,
- 30:09creatures of the of these, these sorts of things.
- 30:13So again, when it comes to our efforts, our desire to interact
- 30:18and maintain good or maintaining, Good standing with
- 30:22the V8 here, we gift to the vet. Here, we we put out food, you
- 30:26know, a lot of people might look at things like birds bird,
- 30:31feeders or squirrel feeders or all.
- 30:33These are the types of things that give food back to the, you
- 30:36know, creatures that we live in and around and that live in, and
- 30:40around us, as ways of establishing maintaining, those
- 30:46those interactions, those, those ways, of honoring, the Vets
- 30:49here, because it's being received, By the land, the tier
- 30:52by the spirits of the land that habit cohabitate with us and
- 30:56that inhabit these these these animals.
- 31:02So that's one way I look at it too is you know when we look to
- 31:07give to the material when we look to honor the materials we
- 31:09want to do things that are going to make the land happy.
- 31:11So you know I wouldn't want to, you know poor you know something
- 31:16that is or place something that is harmful to the land.
- 31:20And, you know, if I know that a certain kind of food product or
- 31:27byproduct of food is harmful to the land, not gonna put that in
- 31:30the ground. I'm going to put that out there
- 31:33to be consumed, potentially buy something, and then have that
- 31:37consump, the consumption of that thing, be detrimental to the
- 31:40life and the happiness of that, which would consume it. you
- 31:46know, I would look to put things out there that are first of all,
- 31:50you know, biodegradable consumable by the land in a
- 31:53healthy way, something that gives back to the land, you
- 31:57know, and it in, in those ways, I feel that that is how we Honor
- 32:06the Lanvin here and keep them happy, keep them, you know,
- 32:12acting in our favor. So that when we do things like
- 32:15whether it be agriculturally, you know, or socially, right?
- 32:19The things that we do on the land are We get benefit from it,
- 32:26we reap the rewards of it. Are our crops grow healthfully,
- 32:30you know, we don't have an infestation of baleful white
- 32:35such as you know, worms and beetles and things like that,
- 32:41that could wreak havoc on crops, right?
- 32:42We are, we are blessed with Bountiful Harvest and minimal
- 32:50infestations of things that could destroy that bounty.
- 32:54T. So again, there's all physical
- 32:57ways of doing this, you know what I mean?
- 32:58Like, there's, you know, obviously you're not going to
- 32:59just, you know, try to grow a crop of tomatoes and not do
- 33:06things that would help. Prevent things like bugs and
- 33:12whatnot from getting to it because again the land of a tear
- 33:15that that inhabit, the land don't operate under the social
- 33:18construct of us as humans. They don't understand, they
- 33:21don't, they don't follow what we follow as well.
- 33:24The rules are rules, the wild is the wild, right?
- 33:26And the laws of nature are, you know, what happens happens and
- 33:33you're not going to be able to dictate when and where those
- 33:38sorts of Things occur. But at the same time we have
- 33:43again this relationship that we're looking to establish
- 33:47maintain and build and grow with the with these spirits that, you
- 33:53know, require us to be active, you know?
- 33:56So we look to do those physical things.
- 33:58And then we also look to do the metaphysical things, you know,
- 34:02I've had experiences myself where, you know, I was I was
- 34:07growing a garden at the time and I was was looking to put, you
- 34:11know, something back to the land that I hoped would be be
- 34:14received by the veter as a token of A token of thanks like, thank
- 34:22you for letting me work this land.
- 34:25Here's a gift in return and I would receive an omen.
- 34:29And I remember this one particular time, just to be very
- 34:33specific. It was I was gifting to the land
- 34:38of fruits and nuts and some vegetables.
- 34:41Some some I think I was growing zucchinis and stuff at the time
- 34:44and I had some extra of the crop that I would give Back to the
- 34:49land. I would make a plate or portion
- 34:52and I would bring it outside to this sort of my little, you want
- 34:57to call her ogre or alter as it were an outdoor pile of stones
- 35:02and stuff. And I swear I put my gifts to
- 35:04the VTR, right? And I sat out there, it was
- 35:07dark. It was nighttime.
- 35:09And I sat out there for a while, and I just, you know, in my own
- 35:12way, communicate It To the victor to the spirits that I
- 35:15couldn't see necessarily around me.
- 35:17Right. Well, next thing you know, I
- 35:20hear this, you know, it was like a tree line here, near the
- 35:23property line and I hear this rustling in the trees and I
- 35:26could see through the darkness that, you know, a little
- 35:30movement and it was a, it was a possum that was coming to eat
- 35:36the vegetables and stuff that I left out there now That's what
- 35:43possums do right? That's what nature is doing.
- 35:46Its the physical act of of a possum coming to eat vegetables
- 35:51from our garden is a natural thing, you know, like there's
- 35:55another there's no real. Whoo, you know stuff behind it.
- 36:00But in the moment right in that moment, that was for me, an omen
- 36:04that my gift to the be tier was being received and accepted and
- 36:08the The act of gifting to them was met in a reciprocal, sort of
- 36:16way. It's, I didn't necessarily get
- 36:18anything physical in return, but what I got in return was a nod.
- 36:22An acknowledgement from the fatir saying thank you.
- 36:28We receive your gift. We appreciate it.
- 36:31You know, an unspoken yet vibrantly loud, and a resounding
- 36:38Affirmation, that what you did is accepted and well-received.
- 36:44You know, so maybe something like that has happened for you
- 36:46guys or maybe now that you're hearing about this, you know,
- 36:50when you're looking to implement, you know, behavior
- 36:53that that reflects honoring, and you know, bringing of gifts to
- 36:58the veteran and interacting with them in this sort of way.
- 37:04I'm going to try to plant things in your mind to think of every
- 37:06time you see it. Opossum every time you see a
- 37:08bird eating at a at a bird feeder that you know it's debate
- 37:11here. They're happy.
- 37:12And I could just be that the birds are eating because they're
- 37:14hungry and then you know, that's what birds do and that's what
- 37:16they need to do. Looks like everything else but
- 37:19hey you know, not going to tell you how to read almonds because
- 37:23though they are intended for the people to that that are that are
- 37:27looking for them, you know? Just like so many things in
- 37:31nature. You know, I've talked a lot
- 37:32about before about how I interact with some of the wild
- 37:36Guardian Spirits over here on Stones River you know herons
- 37:41especially are prolific. I see a heron a lot and I
- 37:47probably see more than just the one Heron, you know what I mean?
- 37:49But every time I see the Heron Heron it's hey, there he is.
- 37:52You know, there's the Heron it's Probably seeing different ones
- 37:57at different points. In time, I get that but for me,
- 38:00it's, you know, you guys know, I have a very close, you know,
- 38:05Affinity to herons for for for reasons, I've stated before they
- 38:09are and I believe, you know, for me that it is the, my failure,
- 38:17my ancestral guide, my ancestral follower of my Algonquin,
- 38:24perhaps Shinnecock, Indian descent, that female ancestor is
- 38:34represented in physical form, through the Heron, because the
- 38:37Heron is a marsh bird, the Algonquin and Shinnecock people
- 38:40were Marsh Native indigenous people.
- 38:43They lived in swamps and Marshy areas.
- 38:45So there's that connection. So yeah there's there's there's
- 38:49that and so How you guys read the signs?
- 38:54The Omens whatever as you as you have on my know, a lot of people
- 38:57that are friends of mine and talk all the time about their
- 39:00their nature walks. And you know, they see a deer,
- 39:02they see a hawk or they see this so they see that and they know
- 39:05that for them is is you know, Ravens crows. whenever I know a
- 39:13guy who's who's very got a, he's got a very close Affinity to
- 39:18Bobcats interestingly enough, I've heard of other people, You
- 39:24know, mentioning different affinities to different animals.
- 39:27And that's, that's probably something a little bit different
- 39:29than the V8 ear. All I'm saying is that just
- 39:33like, we heard about before in the egg, is not a go Saga, but
- 39:38in the Saga, King Olaf They tear the Guardians of that land.
- 39:45All right, the Protectors of that.
- 39:46Land were manifested in physical form as creatures of both
- 39:51natural and mythological Stature.
- 39:55So as a recap, you know, how do we interact how to honor the
- 40:01Vets here? Get out into the yard, get out
- 40:05until your land. And, you know, whether you have
- 40:08a small piece of property, a large piece of property, maybe
- 40:11you live in an area that is like the city and there isn't, you
- 40:16know, you don't have a piece of land outside of your dwelling
- 40:24that you can necessarily go to, to give to the VT R, you know, I
- 40:28think that they tear have have presence in the land, and then
- 40:32there are VT or that have presence inside the home, that
- 40:37kind of either take up residence in the physical area.
- 40:42Like we, like I mentioned earlier there was that one guy
- 40:45who had a dream and there was, you know, they'd tear that were
- 40:47connected to this Boulder that, you know, don't don't remove
- 40:50this Boulder, don't tear this down until we move out.
- 40:53Let us relocate before you do anything, you know.
- 40:56So there could be those types of a tear.
- 41:00And I think there's also they tear that that kind of of go
- 41:03with families that go with people.
- 41:06So you may have cases or situations where you know
- 41:11somebody who lived in an apartment you know there's a
- 41:15tear left with them. Maybe that vase here that was
- 41:20with them at that point stayed there and then you know another
- 41:24person moves in and then you've got there via tear that you know
- 41:27that that traveled with them then now there's this Clash like
- 41:31whose home is this anyway it's my home.
- 41:33No it's My home now because I'm living here and there, you know,
- 41:35you might see tumultuous things pop up, you know, maybe of call
- 41:39it hauntings or whatever. I don't know.
- 41:42This is just my mind kind of running away with the whole
- 41:44concept of it all, but there's something to think about there,
- 41:47too. I think it may be a topic for a
- 41:49later podcast on, on centralized spirits that are tied to either
- 41:57a family or tied to the home of a family and You know why?
- 42:03There might be conflict if a family left and and that
- 42:07particular white didn't lie with them and then you know you ran
- 42:10into these conflicts so it also boats the question I think that
- 42:16when we go back to like you know talking about land bits here and
- 42:21keeping them happy. You know if if the land was
- 42:25intended and the plan hasn't been tended and or if the land
- 42:29has received a lot of You know, - action against it.
- 42:34And we talked earlier about these disasters of, you know,
- 42:40incredible magnitude, you know, train derailments that that blue
- 42:44toxic gas into the air, into the air, and leaked into the earth,
- 42:48into the ground, into the rivers, and the streams and
- 42:50everything, and killed all these, you know, animals and
- 42:54creatures that live there. That's that's heavy duty stuff,
- 43:00you know? And and there could be the fact
- 43:04that the VTR have abandoned that place or now.
- 43:06It's now it's a Added by baleful weights are baleful be tear that
- 43:11that seek to just be entropic and Destroy what they can.
- 43:18That takes a lot of work. I don't remember if it's in the
- 43:22land on my book, The the book of settlements, I want to say that
- 43:26it is and I can't cite specifically where it is, but I
- 43:29believe that in the land of a book, we read about land,
- 43:32claiming ceremonies land, taking ceremonies that Involve the use
- 43:39of fire to walk perimeters of lands that essentially stake a
- 43:46claim, right? I am here, you know, banishing
- 43:49any bail for whites to 2 then you know, take over that, that
- 43:55that space with with wholesome and good.
- 43:59And and the types of spiritual forces that you want, they're
- 44:03not the ones that you don't. So you know, you make encounter,
- 44:09you know, people may be listening to this and saying I'm
- 44:11having a rough time right now because they know I have this
- 44:16sense of unsettling. And in in the area where I live,
- 44:20you know, could be again, not knowing everybody situation.
- 44:23It's, I don't think there's one universal answer to this, but,
- 44:27you know, it could be that that the reason why things are
- 44:30feeling unsettled is because the land is upset, the spirits of
- 44:33that land are are hurting or our have been abandoned, and now
- 44:40it's being taken over by again, the the baleful entropic and
- 44:45malignant spirit And so, in order to regain control in order
- 44:49to regain then, you know, something of a benevolent.
- 44:54Instead of a malevolent nature, you know, there's work to be
- 44:59done and there is tending to that land, that needs to be
- 45:02done, you know. And it takes physical work and
- 45:05it takes active action too. bring life and bring happiness,
- 45:11and bring peace, and bring prosperity and then all that
- 45:14back to the land and to, you know, get rid of and to banish
- 45:19that that which is harmful or baleful, So as you guys think
- 45:28about this and, you know, hopefully this is this is help
- 45:31spark some conversation amongst your people in your circles.
- 45:36I would love to hear down in the comments or through email or
- 45:40through the midgard, musings, hotline, or if you're anyone of

- 45:50thoughts, and let me know, and then let's share with the
- 45:53people. And everybody else, you know how
- 45:56you interact with an honor Blaine bit here.
- 46:01What are some things that you find to be, you know, integral
- 46:05and valuable to building growing, maintaining those,
- 46:11those relationships with those unseen spirits that are,
- 46:15although unseen no less important.
- 46:18I would love to hear what you guys have to say about, and I
