  Deep in the heart of Israel, God desires to be known by his

  chosen people, revealing himself to Moses as Yahweh the Great.

  I am a name too holy to utter. The Israelites call him Jehovah.

  Throughout the Old Testament, Jehovah responds to the faith of
• 0:23
  his people and shows himself strong on their behalf.

  In remembrance of Jehovah's power and love, the people give
• 0:31
  him additional names describing his ability and willingness to
• 0:35
  help in their lives. Each name describes the nature
• 0:40
  of the one true God. Each is Jehovah.

  Together they are the J team. The Israelites had turned away
• 0:55
  from the Lord, doing evil in his sight.
• 0:58
  Then the Midianites invaded Israel.

  They were cruel to the Israelites, leaving them no
• 1:03
  food, taking their cattle, goats and sheep.
• 1:06
  When the Israelites were close to starvation, they turned to
• 1:09
  their God Jehovah for help. So the Lord turned to Gideon and
• 1:14
  said, Go with the strength you have and rescue Israel from the
• 1:18
  Midianites. I am sending you once Gideon
• 1:22
  agreed, his first task was to destroy the idols he and his
• 1:26
  family had been worshipping. Take a break, it's my turn.

  You're late. Well, what do you expect?

  It's the middle of the night and I'm tired.

  All this taking turns is wearing me out.

  Do you think I like it? We have to guard these idols so

  nothing happens to them. Worshipping these idols are my

  you and You alone. Thank You for choosing me to do

  great things for Your Kingdom. Tear down your father's altar of
• 3:27
  Baal and cut down the wooden idol next to it.

  Then build an altar to me and sacrifice your father's young
• 3:34
  bull using the wooden idol as firewood.

  What was that? Oh, no.

  What has he done to bail? Oh, I'm in big trouble.

  he waited for the Lord's instructions.

  He knew that God was on their side and they were on his side.

  Always remember that God is with you, working in you and fighting

  for you. He is Jehovah, the Lord God

  Almighty, our sanctifier, the one who sets us apart to do
