- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the Double R Life Back Studios, Mark Simon, Well,
- 0:06Speaker 1: let's talk to the dean himself, Ed Rollins. Nobody's run
- 0:10Speaker 1: more campaigns, more successful campaigns. They're worked in more white houses,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and it's great to happen with us, Ed Rollins, How
- 0:16Speaker 1: you doing good?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Mark?
- 0:18Speaker 1: How you doing very good?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Many times?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Many times?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Arizona primaries last night all the Trump back candidates won,
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Socialists got wiped out. Is that a good sign
- 0:28Speaker 1: of things to come?
- 0:30Speaker 2: That's good. It's good for the Trump side. Obviously Trump
- 0:32Speaker 2: controls this party and he basically is going to get
- 0:35Speaker 2: what he wants to run in these races. And I
- 0:37Speaker 2: think the reality is we have to now wait and
- 0:40Speaker 2: see how it works memories in November December, at the
- 0:45Speaker 2: critical period to get to that election today. Do we
- 0:48Speaker 2: have a great voter get out the vote effort? I
- 0:50Speaker 2: think we do. I think there's a lot of money
- 0:52Speaker 2: that Trump has that nobody else has. The parties can
- 0:56Speaker 2: be coordinated now. So you know, the reality is all
- 1:00Speaker 2: the experts think the House is going to go and
- 1:02Speaker 2: you know, one or two, three, five seats maximum. I
- 1:06Speaker 2: think the Senate is now in play it, but it's
- 1:09Speaker 2: not easy when you think about the four poetsso seats,
- 1:12Speaker 2: but you're Ohio, Michigan, Maine, and Alaska. Those are seats
- 1:17Speaker 2: that we've always held, and I take to a certain
- 1:19Speaker 2: extent they're going to be real battles. But at the
- 1:23Speaker 2: end of the day, one or two of those call
- 1:25Speaker 2: it differs.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, hey what about South Carolina? Lindsay Graham's sister has
- 1:29Speaker 1: agreed to run. Is that kind of risky You think
- 1:33Speaker 1: she'll be able to hold that seat?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Well, she's an to Kennedy, you know, and Lindsey was
- 1:38Speaker 2: going to competitive race this time if you'd lived. But
- 1:42Speaker 2: I think the combination of the tragedy, the combination of
- 1:45Speaker 2: the Trump people will do everything they can to a
- 1:46Speaker 2: whole lot. If we have to start warring about South Carolina,
- 1:49Speaker 2: then were big trouble.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, hey what about Maine. You know one thing about
- 1:53Speaker 1: Susan Collins, she's not exactly a trump Ster. She's not
- 1:55Speaker 1: a Trump supporter. She's opposed him many times, so why
- 1:59Speaker 1: would she have to say a hard time winning there?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Well, their fact that she's not. She's a tough support
- 2:06Speaker 2: from time to time, that's what from time to pretty
- 2:08Speaker 2: liberal time to time. But they're critical times. You know,
- 2:12Speaker 2: she promised she's always served for twelve years. Obviously it's
- 2:17Speaker 2: been surpassed by a jumble bout number. I think people
- 2:20Speaker 2: just kind of tired, the old people. Uh. Now, she's
- 2:23Speaker 2: a good competitor, and there's still a lot of chaos
- 2:25Speaker 2: the Democratic sided what kind of nominee they have, but
- 2:29Speaker 2: that that could be the critical or that could be
- 2:31Speaker 2: that could be the last one of children, and that
- 2:34Speaker 2: could be the difference.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Hey, what about in Michigan with the Democrats. You know,
- 2:37Speaker 1: they try to run these crazy socialist communists or whatever.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Michigan's are pretty much a Middle America, Midwest working class
- 2:46Speaker 1: kind of state. They're not going to win that, are they.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I don't think Michigan, Ohio a tough states for Democrats,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and they've won them in the past and in the day.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think to a certain extent, we've got viable candidate suits.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I think it's gonna come down the main I think
- 3:03Speaker 2: it's going to be whether whether the Democrats can post.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I was gonna come down to one of these four
- 3:07Speaker 2: suits for them though obviously makes a big difference. But
- 3:11Speaker 2: I think at this point in time, if you look
- 3:13Speaker 2: at numbers, it's forty nine Republicans forty seven Democrats were
- 3:16Speaker 2: four tossups. Yeah, well two or three of those tossteps
- 3:22Speaker 2: and they win, big difference when winning the House, which
- 3:27Speaker 2: I think he's going to say is a possibility, and
- 3:30Speaker 2: a Senate Senate change old by Napoles class very very difficult.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's July. It's only July. This is in November. Isn't
- 3:40Speaker 1: that plenty of time to turn things around?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Not really anymore. The races start much earlier, and they
- 3:46Speaker 2: have unmoieva little amounts of money. Used to be campaigns
- 3:50Speaker 2: started in September October, now they started, they've already started.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You're not a full campaign moving forward and tenifying your voters.
- 3:58Speaker 2: You're in trouble, and he's going to watch. There's nobody.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Can nobody compare attacking at this point in time. What's
- 4:06Speaker 2: gonna happen? Tell me he's going to vote? I don't
- 4:08Speaker 2: think what's gonna happen. You can't tell me he's gonna vote.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And my sense is that Democrats, I'm trying to turn
- 4:15Speaker 2: on the vote and I'm trying to make Trump an issue.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Trump to the deep figure, he owns his party. He's
- 4:21Speaker 2: evening candid get his base.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Hey, ed rounds. The most important race is here in
- 4:27Speaker 1: New York. We got a lousy governor. Bruce Blakeman would
- 4:29Speaker 1: be a great governor. Uh, he's out there campaign and hard,
- 4:33Speaker 1: touring the state. What what do you think his chances
- 4:35Speaker 1: are right now?
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think he has a chance. You know New York.
- 4:40Speaker 2: New York's a tough state. Perhaps you know better anybody.
- 4:43Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, we've got a
- 4:44Speaker 2: good candidate. He's a press of candidate. He's smart, did
- 4:47Speaker 2: a great, great job as county administrator. In my sense,
- 4:50Speaker 2: as a Bible candidate, she should not be Bible. She
- 4:54Speaker 2: should She's been a terrible governor. But who knows turns out?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Hey, the problem. No, he's working hard, doing a
- 5:02Speaker 1: great job. But New York Republican Party in New York
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's weak. It doesn't have the ground game, it doesn't
- 5:08Speaker 1: have the get out the vote operation.
- 5:09Speaker 2: There is no there is no. It just isn't. I mean,
- 5:14Speaker 2: just be honest about it. You know, when you're trying
- 5:17Speaker 2: to open the ground, what do they have? You know,
- 5:20Speaker 2: they work viable at all in the New York City race,
- 5:23Speaker 2: not viable in the county races. And at the end
- 5:26Speaker 2: of the day. Blake Wan's r big candidate. I'm going
- 5:29Speaker 2: to make sure.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But what can you do about this Republican Party? Who
- 5:34Speaker 1: has to fix that? Is it the National GOP? Is
- 5:37Speaker 1: it President Trump? Somebody has to come here and pump
- 5:40Speaker 1: them up and give them money or whatever they need.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Well, it's not just money, it's it's a question of
- 5:45Speaker 2: can you get operators come to New York and want
- 5:48Speaker 2: to build a base. It takes takes time and do
- 5:53Speaker 2: it overnight. Rudy was the last one everyday at a base.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And to a certain extent, Uh, you know, don't build
- 6:03Speaker 2: a base out in the future.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But how do we get in this position? Is it
- 6:06Speaker 1: just the National Republican go P. They've just written off
- 6:10Speaker 1: New York and they gave up on it.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, they did a certain extent. The National Party has
- 6:15Speaker 2: not been a very effective party. Uh, they've won, but
- 6:18Speaker 2: they've won because of Trump. Yeah. Trump. Trump is not
- 6:22Speaker 2: focused on New York, focused on out to other places
- 6:25Speaker 2: as they should. But if he was spent all his
- 6:28Speaker 2: timing year in New York, you can make a difference.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Hey, one last question, This mom Donnie phenomenon, whatever the
- 6:35Speaker 1: hell it is. It's these young crazy Uh, radical voters
- 6:39Speaker 1: that voted him in. Was this just a freak thing
- 6:42Speaker 1: or are we stuck with these voters in New York City?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Are they going to do this again?
- 6:46Speaker 2: If we're if we're stuck with these voters in New
- 6:48Speaker 2: York City to say not, if he's if he gets
- 6:52Speaker 2: re elected, all the policies all right, Well.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Ed Rollins, always great talking to you, and thanks for
- 7:03Speaker 1: all the wisdom. All right, thanks for being with us.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Take care. Yeah, well I was sort of encouraging. I think, Yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 1: there's GOP in New York. I mean there's great people
- 7:14Speaker 1: running it. They just don't have the resources. They don't
- 7:16Speaker 1: have the money, they don't have the manpower. That ground
- 7:19Speaker 1: game is like crucial. You got to be I mean,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you can run all the commercials you want, but you
- 7:24Speaker 1: got to be able to get the vote out. You
- 7:25Speaker 1: got to have campaign workers, phone banks, all of that stuff.
- 7:30Speaker 1: GOP doesn't have that here. Democrats have a massive operation here.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So hey, we got a lot coming up, and don't
- 7:38Speaker 1: forget At noon today, Buck Sexton, Klay Travis, they do
- 7:42Speaker 1: a great show every day at noon then three o'clock.
