- 0:01if we reflect carefully, we will recognize that much of what
- 0:05takes place in our lives occurs without our conscious awareness,
- 0:10participation or control The activity of the cells, the
- 0:16nervous system, the internal organs are all virtually
- 0:20automatic functions that allude conscious oversight.
- 0:25Very rare exceptions involving extreme disciplines.
- 0:30Bring an individual, the ability to slow down the heartbeat or
- 0:34respiration. Normally these things take place
- 0:38unconsciously. If we move to the more purposive
- 0:42actions, we will note that much of what we do is driven by
- 0:46automatic response habit or Instinct consider that life
- 0:52forms on Earth. Generally are known to have
- 0:55elaborate behavioral routines. That cannot be explained by
- 0:59conscious intentional activity but which seemed to be ingrained
- 1:03in them, certain species of birds, for instance can build
- 1:08elaborate nests. One generation after another
- 1:12creates the same type of nests. Salmon return to the stream in
- 1:17which they were hatched swimming.
- 1:19Sometimes thousands of miles across the ocean and against the
- 1:23flow of a river to reach the location to lay their clutch of
- 1:27eggs. Monarch butterflies have a
- 1:30migration pattern between Mexico and Canada that spans four
- 1:35generations of butterflies without the possibility of one
- 1:40generation. Educating the next these are all
- 1:44instances of activities that seem to exhibit a focus and
- 1:47purpose but which in fact are outside the realm of conscious
- 1:53intention. Human being.
- 1:56Similarly, have a large segment of their lives, orchestrated by
- 1:59instinctive and habitual responses, add to this train,
- 2:04behaviors through socialization and education and we can account
- 2:09for an overwhelming proportion of what we believe to be our
- 2:14conscious lives. Some have gone so far as to call
- 2:18our normal human life, a form of sleepwalking.
- 2:22Rarely are we attending and conscious enough to make
- 2:25deliberate decisions and carry them out with a goal or purpose.
- 2:30In mind that goes beyond the fixed boundaries of our ordinary
- 2:34lives. Rarely do we even recognize
- 2:38consciously? The unconscious drives and the
- 2:42Unseen forces that are moving us through our daily life.
- 2:47The mother notes quote people usually do things so
- 2:53automatically and spontaneously without watching themselves
- 2:56doing them that if they were to ask themselves how it comes
- 3:01about they would require some time before the process.
- 3:06Um's conscious to them. You are so used to living that
- 3:11you don't even know how it happens.
- 3:14All the gestures and movements of Life are made spontaneously
- 3:18automatically almost unconsciously in a
- 3:22semi-conscious state and one doesn't even realize.
- 3:26This very simple fact that in order to do something, one, must
- 3:31first know what one is going to do and then must want to do it.
- 3:36It is only when something goes wrong with one of these
- 3:39elements, for instance, the ability to make a plan in one's
- 3:43mind and the ability to carry out this plan.
- 3:48When these to begin to go wrong one, starts worrying about
- 3:53whether ones being is in good order.
- 3:55For example, if one morning on waking up in bed, you do not
- 4:00know or remember that you had to get up wash and dress have your
- 4:04breakfast do. Do this in that you would say to
- 4:08yourself. Why what's the matter?
- 4:11Something is wrong? I don't know what I ought to do
- 4:14anymore. Something must be out of order.
- 4:18And if later knowing what you have to do, you must get up go
- 4:23for your bath dress, you know you have to do it but you can't
- 4:28do it. There is something the stimulus
- 4:31of the will which is no longer working has no effect on the
- 4:36body. Then once again you begin to
- 4:40feel anxious you say, well well could I be ill by any chance?
- 4:47Otherwise you are not even aware that, the whole of life is like
- 4:51that. It seems quite natural to you.
- 4:54It is like that, that means that you act in a way which is hardly
- 4:59semi-conscious. It is automatic.
- 5:03It is a kind of spontaneous habit and you don't watch what
- 5:07you were doing. And so if you want to have some
- 5:11control over your movements, the first thing is to know what is
- 5:16happening. And quote, reference SRI
