- 0:04Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted is a production of the NHL and iHeart Podcasts.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It is Unscripted coming at you. He's demersed, I'm Burke.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's great to be with all of you here on
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Holiday edition episode of Unscripted.
- 0:23Speaker 2: As we're going into the holiday break.
- 0:25Speaker 1: So if anything crazy happens, he's final games, well whatever,
- 0:27Speaker 1: we'll catch up with the other time. But the point
- 0:29Speaker 1: is this, we have an incredible episode today because Brian
- 0:31Speaker 1: Slegel is going to join us.
- 0:32Speaker 2: This is a heavy metal legend. He's the founder of
- 0:35Speaker 2: Metal Blade Records.
- 0:36Speaker 1: He helped introduced the world Jay to Metallica and Goo
- 0:39Speaker 1: Goo Dolls and is a massive hockey guy, right, Blaire slay.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Kidding, that's it. One word slare and this gooulda be awesome.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I had the opportunity when I did the Stanley Cup
- 0:49Speaker 4: live kind of interviews with the NHL Digital. I got
- 0:52Speaker 4: to interview a bunch of people before the games, before
- 0:55Speaker 4: all games of the seven game series. In my favorite
- 0:57Speaker 4: interview was Brian Slagel and just the stories he told
- 1:00Speaker 4: and like you know, a five minute window was absolutely credible,
- 1:02Speaker 4: So you get it for fifteen minutes.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I cannot a wait it's.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Gonna be great.
- 1:07Speaker 1: And again pre yeah, if you want to listen to
- 1:09Speaker 1: Nate Thompson, he was awesome as well, talking about you know,
- 1:12Speaker 1: his mental health journey, his journey on and off the ice.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Nate was really awesome, So thanks once again to him.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But I want to start with this because I'm all
- 1:19Speaker 1: about metrics and I've seen the numbers so far on
- 1:21Speaker 1: this podcast and episode four we not get to episode fourteen,
- 1:24Speaker 1: So there's nothing better than a little bit of Internestine warfare,
- 1:27Speaker 1: a little mutual destruction. I want Jad to go after
- 1:29Speaker 1: our producer Towel right now because it was a very
- 1:32Speaker 1: wonderful text exchange over the clips that were being posted.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So you wanted to do a break out of a
- 1:36Speaker 1: two on one because again, you're a very smart guy.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You played some hard games, HL, you know your stuff.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You get I wanted there's something I'm into. And Two's
- 1:42Speaker 1: point was, I'm just not sure this is an audio medium.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm not exactly schuol. iHeart is going to thrill the
- 1:47Speaker 1: But you explaining a two on one, it's now time
- 1:48Speaker 1: for you to take a victory lap. You can now
- 1:50Speaker 1: go ahead and dunk on my mantaw because how are
- 1:52Speaker 1: those views doing on that two on one.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Listen, I'm I.
- 1:56Speaker 4: My words are my wand you know, and I painted
- 1:58Speaker 4: beauty or my words are my paintbrush. I paint a
- 2:00Speaker 4: beautiful picture when I speak, and I do do a
- 2:03Speaker 4: little bit of shark radio commentary.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Nice.
- 2:06Speaker 4: So I've learned how to describe visually. And you know,
- 2:09Speaker 4: to watch his face because we not only went out
- 2:10Speaker 4: of text chain, but we did this, you know, in
- 2:13Speaker 4: our pre production meeting, and to watch his face kind
- 2:16Speaker 4: of just like what I was like, just trust me,
- 2:20Speaker 4: we're gonna do it. And hey, credit to him now
- 2:22Speaker 4: because you know he fought me on it and I
- 2:24Speaker 4: knew I was going to be right, but he did
- 2:26Speaker 4: a great job editing, putting the clips in.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And before we get to the howk and again, just
- 2:30Speaker 1: to further tease of the episode, Tals really is in
- 2:32Speaker 1: on the new Dylan bio pick I've seen it. So
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'll give you my review of a complete Unknown after
- 2:36Speaker 1: JD's review of Conclave, which I mean again, Pope's poping
- 2:39Speaker 1: is about his peoplescriptions.
- 2:40Speaker 4: You're gonna get, oh, pajh, nice quick quick question because
- 2:44Speaker 4: I haven't seen a few. You went from the Black
- 2:47Speaker 4: the backdrop, and now you got like the racing chair
- 2:49Speaker 4: and a bunch of this like book bookcase that's a
- 2:53Speaker 4: skew behind you.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I'm not my parents' place written now on Maple suburb
- 2:56Speaker 1: of Toronto, Ontario. So that's why we're there via remote. Yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 1: this is my dad's bookcase.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Fox, you're in Canada, you must you're using dial up internet.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's why I like different backup.
- 3:05Speaker 1: If you're watching the video clips again, we've got lots
- 3:08Speaker 1: of great hockey talk coming up, particularly outaway centers. Perhaps
- 3:11Speaker 1: you should be offering them with me a kulpa. But Jay,
- 3:13Speaker 1: you were fired up about this, so I want to
- 3:15Speaker 1: give you that space. This is what the podcast space
- 3:17Speaker 1: is a place to air your grievances. What's a dumber
- 3:20Speaker 1: airplane rule? Bags under your seat for takeoff and landing
- 3:24Speaker 1: or no large electronics during the flight.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I have so many gripes with the with the airline
- 3:30Speaker 4: industry and etiquette, not only from the airlines but people
- 3:35Speaker 4: as well.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You know, people are the worst.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But the bags under my seat, I cannot, for the
- 3:41Speaker 4: life of me stand it. Understand Like, so how I
- 3:44Speaker 4: do it is? I'll bring my backpack on it. Typically,
- 3:46Speaker 4: you know, I used to throw everything up there because
- 3:48Speaker 4: I'd have status, no big deal, and I would just
- 3:50Speaker 4: throw you know, I'd be that guy to throw my
- 3:53Speaker 4: like two small backpacks and take up all the room.
- 3:56Speaker 4: And but you're in first class. Why, I'm like, yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 4: oh no, I fly in the pigeon. I like to
- 4:01Speaker 4: keep myself humble and coach.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I do.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Every now and again, I throw myself in coach just
- 4:06Speaker 4: to be back with the people. Okay, the people guys, Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 4: thank you, thank you. So I typically I put my
- 4:14Speaker 4: backpack literally behind, like up against the seat, and I
- 4:18Speaker 4: lean my legs on it and I almost like curl
- 4:21Speaker 4: my legs. So I'm keeping it super secure. It's basically
- 4:24Speaker 4: in front of my seat, like it's under my seat
- 4:27Speaker 4: instead of under the seat in front of me.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah. And every time.
- 4:30Speaker 4: They come by and they're like, you gotta put it
- 4:32Speaker 4: all the way under, and I'm like all the way
- 4:34Speaker 4: I'm like why, tell me, why? Tell me how this
- 4:38Speaker 4: is going to be life saving, and I will do it.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Tell me. Tell me where in the.
- 4:43Speaker 4: FA regulations, if you can explain it to me, I'll
- 4:46Speaker 4: do it. It makes no goddamn sense, and I don't
- 4:50Speaker 4: get it. I just don't get it. Explain it to me.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You know, I'm with you.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Air Your grievance is a lesson. I know there's a
- 4:56Speaker 1: rabbit audience right now watching us. I'm sure there's people
- 4:59Speaker 1: in the airline industry tweet us, send us a message,
- 5:01Speaker 1: dm us, let us know some watch behind this and
- 5:04Speaker 1: educate me and Demurz speaking of education, the Ottawas Centers,
- 5:08Speaker 1: we're officially wrong. And then we buried him in a
- 5:10Speaker 1: previous episode. They've won a last nine, they got the
- 5:13Speaker 1: Verkin Demurz bump. They losing Edmonton's Sunday Night. Brady could
- 5:16Speaker 1: chuck those scorers. Two overtime winners in the last two weeks.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I want to ask you specifically about Lenis Olmark two
- 5:21Speaker 1: shutouts nine to sixty seven, say percentage in his last
- 5:25Speaker 1: seven games before leaving against the Oilers in an upper
- 5:27Speaker 1: body injury. Now, Ollmark, as you know, Jay is a
- 5:29Speaker 1: very streaky goalie. So he started okay, then he kind
- 5:32Speaker 1: of went down. He's been unbelievable one of vest No,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but it wasn't like he was playing seventy five games
- 5:36Speaker 1: a great fear obviously, two goalie system him in Jeremy Swayman,
- 5:39Speaker 1: very strong defensive system.
- 5:41Speaker 2: They're in Boston.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I feel like I'll give them me a couple Okay,
- 5:43Speaker 1: maybe Outaway is a playoff team, but I'm still not
- 5:45Speaker 1: totally sold.
- 5:46Speaker 4: You listen, they brought an Allmark for a reason. He's
- 5:49Speaker 4: been fantastic lights out. Unfortunately, that stings that he gets
- 5:54Speaker 4: that loss on his record after leaving.
- 5:55Speaker 3: That's just the worst rule. You leave with an injury
- 5:58Speaker 3: and you still get.
- 5:59Speaker 2: The loss h adding insult injury.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Adding insult injury quite little.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Really, that's why they wrote it is for the hockey
- 6:06Speaker 4: regular rules and regulations. But no, it Yeah, he's I mean,
- 6:11Speaker 4: when he's on, he's on. And I watched that game
- 6:13Speaker 4: last night. I really wanted to watch the last few
- 6:15Speaker 4: of Ottawa and sit there and and be like, care
- 6:17Speaker 4: are they for real? And they have so much talent
- 6:20Speaker 4: and they're very good at moving the puck up ice.
- 6:23Speaker 4: They seem really confident right now. Obviously defensively at times
- 6:26Speaker 4: they go to sleep, but they got a lot of
- 6:28Speaker 4: pieces in place, So I'm really I'm I'm excited to
- 6:31Speaker 4: see kind of where they can take this and how
- 6:33Speaker 4: far they can go, because I'm so sick of the East.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It's the same eight teams every season. You know, all
- 6:40Speaker 4: these teams refuse to to make that final push to
- 6:44Speaker 4: make the playoffs. They never can get it. They never
- 6:46Speaker 4: can get it over the finish line. It's always the
- 6:48Speaker 4: same aid. It's always I got Tampa and Toronto Round one, Tampa, Toronto,
- 6:55Speaker 4: and then there's Boston and there somewhere there. You know,
- 6:57Speaker 4: Boston will sometimes be up or they'll be like the
- 6:59Speaker 4: eighth of the first seed. So so yeah, I'm I'm
- 7:02Speaker 4: hoping they do it. I actually I want somebody. I
- 7:06Speaker 4: would love if it's like, you know, Detroit, Sin Ottawa's
- 7:09Speaker 4: in Buffalo's in Buffalo.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Don't get me started. It's an absolute joke on Buffalo.
- 7:13Speaker 2: But was not Don Gronto's fault, as you said two episodes.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Ago, It wasn't. Yeah, clearly it's not his fault. But no,
- 7:19Speaker 4: back to Ottawa. Yeah, I dave a lot there. And obviously, listen,
- 7:22Speaker 4: they got Brady as the captain. He's a great captain
- 7:24Speaker 4: to have on the back. And you have Jake Sanderson
- 7:26Speaker 4: who's literally he started off a little slow this season,
- 7:30Speaker 4: but he's been absolutely incredible the past five six games
- 7:34Speaker 4: and and really coming into his own, as you know,
- 7:37Speaker 4: up to his standards, because he was a little disappointed
- 7:40Speaker 4: with the way he started the season and now he's
- 7:43Speaker 4: just flying. And you know they got the Shane Pintos
- 7:45Speaker 4: Tim Stitzla's.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Well that's what Stutzlo. Do you think Stutzlo can be like?
- 7:49Speaker 1: To me, I'm like, he's the put up or shut
- 7:51Speaker 1: up guy. I for all this hyper on him high
- 7:53Speaker 1: draft pick.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Is he ever gonna be like a forty goal scorer?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Is that asking too much?
- 7:57Speaker 5: No?
- 7:58Speaker 4: I think he can do it. I think he creates enough.
- 8:00Speaker 4: He plays hard when he's not doing all the whole
- 8:03Speaker 4: diving thing. He's he's good and he seems like he's
- 8:06Speaker 4: really kind of he's really managed that this year, and
- 8:10Speaker 4: he's playing the right way. He's got a great shot,
- 8:13Speaker 4: he's got a good escapability and good vision and makes
- 8:16Speaker 4: some really nice passes. So their power play has struggled
- 8:19Speaker 4: a little bit. That's the one thing I'm worried about.
- 8:21Speaker 4: But they have so much talent that I think they'll
- 8:22Speaker 4: they'll figure it out soon.
- 8:23Speaker 1: But as you know, I mean, we had a game
- 8:25Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime and I hadn't been auto in a while.
- 8:28Speaker 2: You know, I grew up in Kingston.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It's only a couple hours away, and I'm hanging around
- 8:31Speaker 1: the area and walking my college beautifully. You know, obviously
- 8:33Speaker 1: the you know, just just see the House of Commons,
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Rito can out. But then to get to the arena,
- 8:39Speaker 1: the Canadian Tire Center, I mean, it is Kanada and
- 8:42Speaker 1: it is in a different universe.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Jay, It's crazy. It took us an hour to get there. People,
- 8:47Speaker 2: when can we get the Canadian Tire Center into downtown Ottawa?
- 8:50Speaker 2: That would be great.
- 8:51Speaker 4: And it's like a single road to get there. It's
- 8:53Speaker 4: most depressing drive from downtown so that stadium. So spend
- 8:57Speaker 4: a little dough there.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Right, We'll give them me a couple of the Ottawa
- 8:59Speaker 1: But honestly, the entire center in Kanada could use a
- 9:02Speaker 1: little work.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Do you.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I think you every show you sneak in a little Latin.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I like that about you.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Episode four continues. Yeah, Mia, you said.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Gratis something something show we need like a hardcore fin
- 9:19Speaker 4: and see all the Latin that I've dropped.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'll give you away an NHL unscripted We're gonna get
- 9:23Speaker 1: some gear at some point. Tal That's what I wanted
- 9:25Speaker 1: to on air meeting Right now, If you get me
- 9:27Speaker 1: in Demurs like a hoodie.
- 9:28Speaker 2: NHL inscripted.
- 9:28Speaker 1: With the amount of travel we do, that'll get some
- 9:30Speaker 1: buzz hats, hoodies.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And a mic for Tale.
- 9:34Speaker 4: He looks like a goddamn mine back there, just trying
- 9:37Speaker 4: to panamize air trap controller, air traffic controller, just giving us.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So Bob Bender has approved the UH acquisition of a
- 9:47Speaker 1: Stuer mic, but Tal doesn't have it yet, so we're
- 9:49Speaker 1: scared to talk.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Jada are trying to bait him into a conversation.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I don't want people to ignore the Western Conference and
- 9:54Speaker 1: your love of the San Jose Sharks because the amount
- 9:56Speaker 1: of people right now, if I looked at our metrics,
- 9:58Speaker 1: if I asked how to dial it up, we're gonna
- 10:00Speaker 1: be big in the Bay Area because everyone knows Demurs,
- 10:02Speaker 1: they know the Sharks.
- 10:03Speaker 2: They want us to talk.
- 10:04Speaker 1: You're lub Askaroff, which is just a name, like if
- 10:07Speaker 1: Chris Berman was doing sports, it kissed my Askaroff.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Well, the goldening.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Performances at the seas.
- 10:14Speaker 1: He hits back thirty nine saves second stee oilers three
- 10:17Speaker 1: two overtime loss, twenty three saves in the second period alone.
- 10:20Speaker 2: That's the second highest for one period in franchise history.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I would guests Nabakoff would have the record, but Mackenzie
- 10:26Speaker 1: Blackwood now an avalanche v Tech Vanachek week to week
- 10:29Speaker 1: with injury.
- 10:30Speaker 2: How big are you an? Askroff? Remember when he got
- 10:32Speaker 2: drafted tenth o raw by the Preds.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I want to say two thousand, maybe in the COVID draft,
- 10:36Speaker 1: but there's been some some taco and Askoff, what do
- 10:38Speaker 1: you feel right now?
- 10:39Speaker 4: Was two thousand the COVID draft twenty twenty? Excuse me HEREX.
- 10:46Speaker 4: He's an old man, that's for sure, but you never
- 10:48Speaker 4: know what these Russians, you know, they can forty five
- 10:51Speaker 4: year old rookies.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Been amazing.
- 10:53Speaker 3: He's amazing.
- 10:55Speaker 4: He's yeah, he's he's as advertised. I got to watch him,
- 10:58Speaker 4: and uh, I've talked to a lot of people around
- 11:01Speaker 4: the organization, you know, I do radio with them, so
- 11:03Speaker 4: I see him a lot, and yeah, he's as advertised,
- 11:08Speaker 4: and I think they're trying to wait. They wanted him
- 11:10Speaker 4: to get some HL games. It was only a matter
- 11:11Speaker 4: of time before he takes over. You know, this could
- 11:14Speaker 4: be the time. Now, you know he could. I was
- 11:16Speaker 4: hoping more after Christmas. Just let him get after Christmas
- 11:20Speaker 4: and four Nations kind of just let him run the
- 11:22Speaker 4: end of the season and play like eighty percent of
- 11:24Speaker 4: the games.
- 11:25Speaker 3: But he's so good post the post. He's so good,
- 11:28Speaker 3: you know.
- 11:28Speaker 4: I talked to Thomas Spear, who is he's the goaltender
- 11:32Speaker 4: coach for San Jose Sharks, and he was telling me
- 11:36Speaker 4: down on the Miners. He said he needed to learn
- 11:37Speaker 4: a little bit because he's very athletic and he'd make
- 11:40Speaker 4: these very rangy saves be at a position, but because
- 11:43Speaker 4: he's so athletic in that lower league, he could get
- 11:46Speaker 4: away with it. And he had to kind of learn
- 11:47Speaker 4: to be a little bit more structured and calm and
- 11:50Speaker 4: when he needs to make that post the post save,
- 11:53Speaker 4: yeah it's there for you, but not to always revert
- 11:55Speaker 4: to it and always kind of play like you're out
- 11:58Speaker 4: of position. So he really dialed that in. I watched
- 12:01Speaker 4: him against Edmonton. I mean, he made some ten bells,
- 12:04Speaker 4: but he was just so calm in the net, giving
- 12:06Speaker 4: up limited rebounds, you know, And they took on some
- 12:09Speaker 4: water for about two periods, like it was looked like
- 12:12Speaker 4: an offensive zone power play practice for Edmonton Oilers on
- 12:16Speaker 4: San Jose and and they've been playing good as of late,
- 12:19Speaker 4: they're scrappy. But you know that Edmonton team when they're
- 12:21Speaker 4: rolling downhill, but Ascroff was he was making ten bells
- 12:24Speaker 4: save after ten bells saved. So he's he is the
- 12:27Speaker 4: future of that team. I think he's there's a reason
- 12:30Speaker 4: they traded Mackenzie Blackwood for as good as Mackenzie Blackwood
- 12:33Speaker 4: was playing, he's the future. It's just a matter of
- 12:35Speaker 4: time that he's going to get the keys and hopefully
- 12:38Speaker 4: they maybe wait a little bit longer and kind of
- 12:42Speaker 4: you know, it depends though with v tech out, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 4: it's there's not many guys other than him, so I
- 12:47Speaker 4: think he's they're gonna roll with him for a little
- 12:48Speaker 4: bit and they have a they have. People think it's
- 12:51Speaker 4: gonna be a really long rebuild, but if you watch
- 12:53Speaker 4: that Sharks team a couple you know, watch him a
- 12:56Speaker 4: couple of times, you'll know that it's a it's gonna
- 12:58Speaker 4: be a lot faster rebuild than people think.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Positive thoughts.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I maybe nice to get a Stanley Cup obviously to
- 13:04Speaker 1: that area because you know when when when things were
- 13:07Speaker 1: rolling there at HP was amazing Shark Stanley the final
- 13:09Speaker 1: corps every year in the playoffs, Like you guys were
- 13:11Speaker 1: a juggernaut.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It was amazing.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it was fun. It was fun those years. And yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 4: I mean that fan base is crazy. They they love
- 13:18Speaker 4: the team, they're knowledgeable. Uh, it's it's kind of their
- 13:21Speaker 4: team in the Bay Area. There's you know, obviously forty
- 13:24Speaker 4: nine ers in Santa Clara now, but this was this
- 13:27Speaker 4: was their team and they were proud of it. And
- 13:30Speaker 4: we had some God, we had some good teams there.
- 13:32Speaker 4: So it's you still have to win. You still have
- 13:35Speaker 4: to win. You have to put it all together, and
- 13:36Speaker 4: it's so hard to win the Stanley Cup. But we
- 13:38Speaker 4: had some teams where crazy how we didn't how we
- 13:41Speaker 4: didn't get to the finish line. But it's the way
- 13:44Speaker 4: does the cookie crumbles.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, one more topic I wanted to hit you on.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's Rempy of the Rangers suspend eight games,
- 13:52Speaker 1: Mira Hayes. There's certain guys, ye, you go, they just
- 13:55Speaker 1: he just can't help himself. This guy just he just
- 13:57Speaker 1: loves getting suspended.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he's I was on I was on his train
- 14:02Speaker 4: and like on the Rempy train for a while, and
- 14:05Speaker 4: I think I had to jump I had to jump
- 14:07Speaker 4: into this.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I wonder what was the moment that you jumped.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He Okay, I like this guy plays the edge of spicty,
- 14:12Speaker 1: but he goes yeah, you know what, maybe just goes
- 14:14Speaker 1: overboard too much.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I'm out of the fact, the fact that he can't
- 14:16Speaker 4: get over three games, they'll get suspended, and like that
- 14:18Speaker 4: one was a blatant one in the numbers.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Just jumped into a guy like he.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Not only a guy, their best defenseman, Miro Heyskin in
- 14:26Speaker 4: like elbow to the chin, elbow to the dome piece.
- 14:30Speaker 4: And then as he's jumping, and not that this guy
- 14:33Speaker 4: needs to jump. He's six ' ten, two hundred and
- 14:36Speaker 4: forty pounds. You don't need to jump. You could stay.
- 14:38Speaker 4: He could go on his knees and still hit guys
- 14:41Speaker 4: in the head with his elbow if he wanted to.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So yeah, I kind of I firmly jumped off the
- 14:45Speaker 4: Rempy train. I'm just like he needs to. I mean,
- 14:48Speaker 4: he needs to figure out how to play within the
- 14:52Speaker 4: within the lines, because listen, big a big fan of
- 14:56Speaker 4: my a big fan of who geez Luise Jason Emers,
- 15:00Speaker 4: I'm a huge fan of Raffi Torres. Yeah, I know
- 15:03Speaker 4: he's very, very polarizing, but you could argue that a
- 15:07Speaker 4: lot of those suspensions near the end of his career
- 15:09Speaker 4: were not suspensions that they were just because of his
- 15:13Speaker 4: history and because they wanted a piece of them, they allowed,
- 15:19Speaker 4: like because there's a couple of them, I played with
- 15:20Speaker 4: them where it wasn't even there's no way that those
- 15:22Speaker 4: were as long as suspensions as they were, But it
- 15:25Speaker 4: just he learned how to play within his style of play.
- 15:29Speaker 4: And yes he did play on the edge and did
- 15:32Speaker 4: have some dirty hits, but near the end he found
- 15:35Speaker 4: out a way to hit without jumping and remp He
- 15:37Speaker 4: needs to figure that out or figure out a way
- 15:39Speaker 4: to not be so chaotic and crazy when he's coming
- 15:45Speaker 4: down the ice. But it's chalk it up to the
- 15:47Speaker 4: Red bulls and potentially suit a fed but who the
- 15:50Speaker 4: hell knows.
- 15:50Speaker 3: He needs to.
- 15:53Speaker 1: For context here, this is a six to eight forward
- 15:56Speaker 1: rookie season. People love why you're good, people love the
- 16:00Speaker 1: he fights. He's a rookie, He's tough, Okay, great ejected twice,
- 16:03Speaker 1: also received a four game suspension elbow to the head
- 16:06Speaker 1: of New Jersey's Joni segens Thaler.
- 16:08Speaker 2: That was a home game.
- 16:08Speaker 1: March eleven, twenty two year old zero points in five
- 16:11Speaker 1: games this season, this off season, he's I'm gonna be
- 16:13Speaker 1: a better player, not just a fighter.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Okay. Cool.
- 16:16Speaker 1: He's been assessed four game missconects as well as eight
- 16:18Speaker 1: major penalties in twenty two regular season games.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I mean he had one goal last year, one assist,
- 16:23Speaker 1: seventy one penalty mites. He scored once of course in
- 16:25Speaker 1: the playoffs, had that big fight against Matt Martin. Everyone
- 16:27Speaker 1: loves that Matt Live Stadium outdoors. But you're a sixth
- 16:30Speaker 1: round pick.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I get it. You're there for a role to be
- 16:32Speaker 2: a fighter, be a tough guy.
- 16:33Speaker 1: All good, but there's a fine line between justice and
- 16:37Speaker 1: being tough and it could you imagine George Perris's reaction
- 16:40Speaker 1: again Rempy, like what are we doing, buddy?
- 16:41Speaker 3: Oh, he's probably on the call with him, Like come on, kid,
- 16:44Speaker 3: right well, look at the tough guy. Look at Curtis McDermott.
- 16:47Speaker 4: When he's done, he's able to hit play within the play,
- 16:50Speaker 4: within the rules, still fights.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Look at Ryan Reeves.
- 16:53Speaker 4: I know we got suspended recently, but he hasn't been
- 16:56Speaker 4: suspended that much. And he as much as it pains
- 16:59Speaker 4: me to say it, I mean, he played within the
- 17:01Speaker 4: lines for over nine hundred games and found a way
- 17:05Speaker 4: to be effective still fight, but you know, listen, things
- 17:10Speaker 4: happen when when you're hitting and skating that hard and
- 17:13Speaker 4: trying to finish guys, you're eventually going to catch somebody illegally.
- 17:17Speaker 4: And he's made no qualms about it that he had
- 17:20Speaker 4: to figure out a way to kind of work his
- 17:23Speaker 4: way through the system and make sure that he's playing
- 17:26Speaker 4: within the rules but also playing on the edge. And
- 17:29Speaker 4: that's the hardest thing to do in the NHL, is
- 17:31Speaker 4: play within the rules, but play on the edge and remp.
- 17:33Speaker 4: He just hasn't been able to corral that. And I
- 17:36Speaker 4: mean it's only takes. You know, you only have so
- 17:39Speaker 4: many chances, So I don't know if time's running out
- 17:42Speaker 4: for him now. Did do the Rangers want him to
- 17:44Speaker 4: come out after the eight game suspension.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I didn't, I don't.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I do know this though, everyone's fired up for our
- 17:50Speaker 1: special guest. We're four episodes in and this might be
- 17:52Speaker 1: as good as it gets. Brian Slegel heavy metal legend,
- 17:56Speaker 1: the founder of Metal Blade Records, Metallica, Slayer Goo Goo Dolls,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and at one point had season tickets for five different
- 18:03Speaker 1: NHL teams.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's next on Unscripted.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Well, what a pleasure right now to bring in Brian Slag.
- 18:21Speaker 1: We've been hyping this up all week, my man Jason
- 18:24Speaker 1: de Burr tooking this up. Jay will let you know
- 18:26Speaker 1: that in fact, he's not just a host, he's also
- 18:27Speaker 1: the guest booker here on Unscripted, and it's great to
- 18:30Speaker 1: have Brian with us. In case you do not know
- 18:32Speaker 1: the name, You're gonna know the name because Hulu is
- 18:34Speaker 1: releasing a new documentary series in the history of heavy metal.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It's called Into the Void that's coming out in twenty
- 18:38Speaker 1: twenty five. And Brian also hosts one hundred Songs That
- 18:41Speaker 1: Define heavy Metal.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It's a podcast as he is the Metal Blade Record CEO.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And of course if someone wants just a top line, yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: he's going. Who introduced all of us to my brother's
- 18:50Speaker 1: favorite band? That would be Metallica, along with Slayer and
- 18:53Speaker 1: Goo Goo Dolls. Brian, what a pleasure to have you
- 18:56Speaker 1: here on Unscripted. Thanks for making a few minutes.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Thanks for having me. I appreciate it.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Okay, Metallica, everything on Metallica as.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Much as you can.
- 19:05Speaker 2: My brother's only gonna listen to Metallica.
- 19:06Speaker 1: So Google Dolls will get to the second all very
- 19:08Speaker 1: cool Slayer, awesome Metallica.
- 19:10Speaker 2: How'd you find it? How'd you know? Headfield give it
- 19:12Speaker 2: to me?
- 19:12Speaker 5: So yeah, that was a crazy story. So back in
- 19:15Speaker 5: nineteen eighty, nineteen eighty, actually, no December nineteen eighty, there's
- 19:18Speaker 5: a band called the Michael Shaker Group who was playing
- 19:20Speaker 5: at a venue called the Country Club in Reciina, California.
- 19:23Speaker 5: And at that time it's funny years later, like every
- 19:27Speaker 5: all the bands that came out of LA were all
- 19:28Speaker 5: at that show, but nobody knew each other. So after
- 19:30Speaker 5: the show, in the parking lot was this There was
- 19:34Speaker 5: a movement called the New Waver British heavy metal, which
- 19:35Speaker 5: is this big thing happening England was iron Maid and
- 19:37Speaker 5: def Lepper and all this sort of stuff. It was
- 19:39Speaker 5: just starting. Nobody in LA knew anything about it except
- 19:42Speaker 5: for me and my friend John corn Aerans. And after
- 19:45Speaker 5: that Michael Shaker show, he was in the parking lot
- 19:47Speaker 5: and he saw a kid wearing a Saxon European T shirt. Now,
- 19:51Speaker 5: in nineteen eighty, nobody knew who Saxon was, let alone
- 19:53Speaker 5: had a European T shirt. So he runs up to
- 19:55Speaker 5: this guy. He goes, you, where did you get that shirt?
- 19:57Speaker 5: He goes, you know who Saxon. He's like, yeah, big fan,
- 20:00Speaker 5: Da da da da. So that was Lara's Ulrich And
- 20:03Speaker 5: the next day I met Lars Skared to my house
- 20:06Speaker 5: and we started hanging out and listening to music and
- 20:08Speaker 5: going to shows together, and so I got the idea
- 20:12Speaker 5: fast forward. I got the idea to put together a
- 20:13Speaker 5: compilation album of local LA heavy metal bands. Because this
- 20:16Speaker 5: was nineteen eighty one, nobody knew it existed. There's no Internet,
- 20:19Speaker 5: the labels don't care. So I got this idea to
- 20:21Speaker 5: put this compilation album together. So Lars calls me and said,
- 20:24Speaker 5: if I put together a band, kind of be on
- 20:26Speaker 5: your record. They said sure, and that's how Metallica started.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Oh my wow.
- 20:31Speaker 2: So it's a chance encounter with Lars and he's looking
- 20:34Speaker 2: for an in and you're.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Helping him out casually hanging out with Lars.
- 20:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it was. It was funny when I first met
- 20:39Speaker 5: him because he had just moved from Denmark to southern California,
- 20:42Speaker 5: and I don't think he expected anybody La to know
- 20:46Speaker 5: who these bands were that he was really into. So
- 20:48Speaker 5: that's how we became friends, and then he started a
- 20:50Speaker 5: band which did okay.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Just okay, And you know they're man tying it back
- 20:57Speaker 4: to me. They're so important in my you know, growing
- 21:00Speaker 4: up process. And then you know, I played for the
- 21:01Speaker 4: San Jose Sharks. They're a huge part of it. And
- 21:04Speaker 4: obviously with you, you're a huge hockey fan, and if
- 21:07Speaker 4: people don't know you, you're like an enormous hockey fan.
- 21:09Speaker 4: You once had five season tickets to five different teams
- 21:13Speaker 4: in one year, which is crazy.
- 21:15Speaker 2: How does that work? Blind? Yeah, you can't even get
- 21:17Speaker 2: to that many games.
- 21:18Speaker 6: What are we doing?
- 21:19Speaker 5: Well, yeah, that's true, but I got to as many
- 21:20Speaker 5: as I can. I had most of those on the
- 21:22Speaker 5: West Coast. I had Kings, Sharks, Coyotes.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And uh Love Shane Doan, Yeah and uh and Anaheim.
- 21:32Speaker 5: So I had all those for it. But then I
- 21:33Speaker 5: also was in New York a lot. We had an
- 21:35Speaker 5: officuly in New York for many, many years. So I
- 21:37Speaker 5: had Devil's tickets and this was the old Christmas Tree
- 21:39Speaker 5: uniform Devils, so they were super cheap. You had all
- 21:42Speaker 5: those season tickets were cheap if you add up what
- 21:44Speaker 5: I'm paying now for my Goalden Nights. Tickets probably isn't
- 21:46Speaker 5: even close to that now, so, but it was a
- 21:48Speaker 5: lot of fun. I still got to a lot of
- 21:51Speaker 5: those games. I might I might have seen a hundred
- 21:53Speaker 5: games that year or something. It was crazy.
- 21:55Speaker 3: What now, now? Tell me that?
- 21:56Speaker 4: Like, because you just said before we're talking, before you
- 21:58Speaker 4: said the name of your company, your record label was
- 22:01Speaker 4: kind of stemmed from hockey, and how did that all
- 22:04Speaker 4: mesh you? Why did hockey and you? How does that
- 22:06Speaker 4: mix together?
- 22:08Speaker 5: Yeah? So I became a big hockey fan. Basically it
- 22:10Speaker 5: never played. Unfortunately, we couldn't afford it when I was
- 22:12Speaker 5: a kid. It was very expensive here in LA. But
- 22:14Speaker 5: I became a big fan around nineteen eighty one, eighty
- 22:17Speaker 5: two of the Islander Stanley Cup run and I just
- 22:19Speaker 5: became a big fan. Long story about a friend of
- 22:21Speaker 5: mine who printed my fanzine had season tickets. They never
- 22:24Speaker 5: used them. He said, you want these? I said sure
- 22:26Speaker 5: to the Kings and I started going. And I was hooked,
- 22:29Speaker 5: hook line and sinker at that point. And when I
- 22:31Speaker 5: was starting the label, it wasn't really starting a label.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I was just putting out a record. But you had
- 22:34Speaker 5: to call the label something, So I was gonna call
- 22:37Speaker 5: it Skull and Crossbones, but the bass player from Blondie
- 22:40Speaker 5: had a label called Skull and Crossbow. It's like, I
- 22:43Speaker 5: gotta think of a name like, well, metal would make
- 22:45Speaker 5: sense because it's heavy metal, and I go, well, blade
- 22:47Speaker 5: because blade there. You know, hockey skates have blades. I
- 22:50Speaker 5: was a big, big medieval fan with swords and stuff,
- 22:52Speaker 5: so like, oh, metal blades. So that's how it started.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I love the origin of it. That's pretty cool.
- 22:56Speaker 1: We're talking about Brian Slagel, the founder of Metal Blade Records.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I'm sure you've met some cool players over the years.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Give me some interactions of some guy you've met, Oh, so.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Many of them. Well, one of my favorite ones, and
- 23:08Speaker 5: I told the story part two of it when when
- 23:11Speaker 5: I talked to Jason the steleic Ap Finals last year
- 23:13Speaker 5: was the Army or Yoger he when he was playing
- 23:15Speaker 5: for the Penguins. Friends of mine worked for Stan Fischler,
- 23:18Speaker 5: and they got they got concocted that I was gonna
- 23:23Speaker 5: have Yager meet Metallica. Now nobody had contacted me about this,
- 23:26Speaker 5: Nobody contact Yager about it. But Stan Fischer just put
- 23:28Speaker 5: in his column one week and I'm like, what is
- 23:31Speaker 5: what is this? So anyway, it became a possibility because
- 23:35Speaker 5: I asked the Metallica guys and said, hey, would you
- 23:37Speaker 5: want to meet Yager? And they are big boggy fans
- 23:39Speaker 5: at that time, so I go absolutely, and then the
- 23:43Speaker 5: Yagers like, let's make it happen. So as that choice,
- 23:46Speaker 5: what happened? Chance? What happened? The Sharks were playing the Penguins,
- 23:51Speaker 5: and the Penguins had a night off before the game,
- 23:53Speaker 5: so they're flying to San Jose. So that night was
- 23:56Speaker 5: perfect and Batallica's in the studio recording, so I arranged
- 23:58Speaker 5: it to get Yager and a couple other guys out,
- 24:00Speaker 5: took him out in the limo, took him to the studio.
- 24:03Speaker 5: They all hung out, but I couldn't figure out who
- 24:05Speaker 5: was more excited, whether it was the hockey players or
- 24:08Speaker 5: the band guys because Metallica's you know, head feels like
- 24:11Speaker 5: younger saw my stick. And Bob Rock was the producer
- 24:13Speaker 5: and he's Canadian. His kid's favorite player was Yager, so
- 24:16Speaker 5: it was a blast. And the ride to the studio,
- 24:19Speaker 5: you know, your your army was pretty shy, and you know,
- 24:22Speaker 5: wasn't really great at English, so he didn't say a
- 24:24Speaker 5: whole lot but on the way back we just talked
- 24:27Speaker 5: the whole time about hockey and stuff. He was great.
- 24:29Speaker 5: So when he come to Prague, come to my sports bar.
- 24:31Speaker 5: I'll take care of you all this stuff. So it
- 24:34Speaker 5: was when they became friends.
- 24:35Speaker 2: After I was in the sports bar. Now go ahead, JA.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I was in San Jose for six years and I
- 24:41Speaker 4: would have cut off my left arm to go to
- 24:43Speaker 4: the studio when Metallica was recording. Oh my god, I
- 24:47Speaker 4: met them. It's crazy. I had, you know. I we
- 24:50Speaker 4: talked a little bit about before we went live here
- 24:53Speaker 4: about Dan Boyle and and how big of a metal
- 24:57Speaker 4: fan he was in you know, other than Yager. Have
- 24:59Speaker 4: you really have you seen a lot of guys like
- 25:02Speaker 4: earlier in your career or now later that are metal fans.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Probably earlier. I hosted a podcast for three years with
- 25:08Speaker 5: Sean Rourke from NHL dot com, and he had the idea,
- 25:11Speaker 5: let's let's do a podcast about athletes, specifically hockey players
- 25:15Speaker 5: that are into heavy metal. I go, these guys are
- 25:17Speaker 5: going to say anything. If you've heard these interviews with
- 25:19Speaker 5: these guys, who are gonna get him for five minutes.
- 25:21Speaker 5: But with the first one we did was Drew Stafford,
- 25:25Speaker 5: who like was notoriously bad with interviews. We talked to
- 25:28Speaker 5: him at hour he knew more about metal than I did,
- 25:30Speaker 5: so I ranted a whole bunch of guys again. Mike
- 25:32Speaker 5: McKenna is a really close friend of mine. I know
- 25:34Speaker 5: he played with Jason. Yeah a minute, He's another guy
- 25:37Speaker 5: that probably knows more about metal than I do. And
- 25:40Speaker 5: there's a lot of guys over the years that have
- 25:43Speaker 5: done it, not as much anymore. A lot of these
- 25:45Speaker 5: guys now are more into edmf back in the days
- 25:48Speaker 5: shaboozy now.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm glad that DM has made a good
- 25:51Speaker 1: push because demers and I do like EDM. But when
- 25:53Speaker 1: you say, Brian, I know you're being humble when someone
- 25:55Speaker 1: says that they know more than I do, Like, what
- 25:57Speaker 1: does that mean?
- 25:58Speaker 2: Like there their references are deeper than yours. Their quotes
- 26:00Speaker 2: of me, like to what to look because to be
- 26:02Speaker 2: at your level is pretty insane.
- 26:03Speaker 5: No, yeah, but there's a lot of bands. I mean,
- 26:06Speaker 5: you know, I'm busy enough with you know, running the
- 26:08Speaker 5: label and doing all that sort of stuff, so I
- 26:10Speaker 5: can't I pay attention as much as I can. But
- 26:13Speaker 5: there's so much out there, and like both Drew and
- 26:15Speaker 5: Mike McKenna. They were talking about bands I hadn't even
- 26:18Speaker 5: heard of before.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Oh, that's well, speaking of bands you do know great
- 26:22Speaker 4: segue Jason talk a little bit about The Goo Goo
- 26:25Speaker 4: Dolls and just how you found them, worked with them,
- 26:28Speaker 4: and that whole process.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Yeah, so they're always the one that go How did
- 26:32Speaker 5: the Goo Goo Dolls end up on Metal Blade? But
- 26:34Speaker 5: we had a punk label back in the eighties and nineties.
- 26:38Speaker 5: We had like Dri and coc and a whole bunch
- 26:40Speaker 5: of really big punk rock bands, and The Goo Goo
- 26:42Speaker 5: Doll started in Buffalo, New York as a punk rock band,
- 26:45Speaker 5: like Johnny would sing half the songs and Robbie the
- 26:47Speaker 5: bass player, singing the other half, and they were super punk.
- 26:49Speaker 5: And one of the guys who works at Metal Blade
- 26:52Speaker 5: is from Buffalo, so you had a lot of connections there,
- 26:54Speaker 5: and he said, Hey, here's this band. They put out
- 26:56Speaker 5: this one record called Jed the Goo Goo Dolls. Would
- 26:57Speaker 5: you be interested? And I listened to it. I thought
- 26:59Speaker 5: it was really cool. So we saw them just this
- 27:01Speaker 5: kind of fun, little punk band, and they kind of
- 27:03Speaker 5: grew into a band that if you listen to the
- 27:05Speaker 5: stuff that we did, it sounds a lot like the
- 27:08Speaker 5: Foo Fighters. And then a boy named Goo came out,
- 27:10Speaker 5: which is the first big record and the song name
- 27:13Speaker 5: which is the first big hit they had. And it's
- 27:15Speaker 5: funny because we were making the record and Johnny came
- 27:18Speaker 5: to me and said, hey, wait, I wrote this acoustic song.
- 27:20Speaker 5: It doesn't really fit with the rest of the record,
- 27:22Speaker 5: but we recorded it. Should we put it on the
- 27:24Speaker 5: record or not? I go, I listened to it. I go, look,
- 27:26Speaker 5: it's a good song. Just throw it on the record.
- 27:27Speaker 5: And then that ended up being their first massive hit,
- 27:29Speaker 5: and then they kind of became known for being more
- 27:32Speaker 5: of a mellow band, but their early stuff is really
- 27:35Speaker 5: really fun.
- 27:36Speaker 4: So you know, you're a Knight's season ticket holder now
- 27:39Speaker 4: and you've you know, you've watched hockey for a long time.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Who is like what type of player do you like
- 27:45Speaker 4: number one that's most closely associate with you because you're
- 27:48Speaker 4: in the metal Do you like guys at like a
- 27:50Speaker 4: Rempier or a Kegan Colesar that like, you know, they
- 27:53Speaker 4: play a physical game. Are you more the the skill,
- 27:56Speaker 4: the sexy, you know, the the slash of it all.
- 27:59Speaker 4: That's jamming on guitar, that's a little bit more like
- 28:01Speaker 4: Jack Eichel or Shay Theodore.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Well, it's it's interesting because I like it both ways.
- 28:06Speaker 5: I like it rough and tumble, but I love the skill.
- 28:08Speaker 5: The skill is my favorite thing. My favorite player in
- 28:10Speaker 5: the league is Austin Matthews just because I've never seen
- 28:13Speaker 5: as amazing as Ovichkin is. I've never seen a guy
- 28:16Speaker 5: score goals like Austin Matthews does. He just it's it's
- 28:19Speaker 5: insane and on the nights. I love Michael. I got
- 28:21Speaker 5: to interview him actually for the NHL last summer, and
- 28:24Speaker 5: all we did was talk music. He's an old school
- 28:26Speaker 5: like rock and metal guy. It was great. We talked
- 28:29Speaker 5: fifty minutes from music. He's like, well, that was really fun.
- 28:31Speaker 5: So I've grown to really like him. But he's got
- 28:34Speaker 5: a two undred foot game now, which is that's why
- 28:36Speaker 5: he won a Stanley Cup. Because he's got a two
- 28:37Speaker 5: unred foot game. And other guys that I won't mention
- 28:40Speaker 5: don't play two hundred feet and they don't have any
- 28:42Speaker 5: cups yet.
- 28:44Speaker 2: It's a great way of soon a guy became a
- 28:46Speaker 2: two hundred foot game.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I tell you he knows more about hockey than most
- 28:50Speaker 3: than you.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I think, Brian, if you want to add another podcast
- 28:55Speaker 1: to host, you can go ahead and take my spot.
- 28:57Speaker 2: You and Jason apparently both though Dan Boyle quite well.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Yes. So Dan used to wear a metal Blade T
- 29:03Speaker 5: shirt when he was doing interviews after the games for
- 29:05Speaker 5: a couple of years, and we had him on the
- 29:07Speaker 5: podcast that I mentioned earlier did with Sean Rourke and
- 29:09Speaker 5: we became friends and I hung out a few times
- 29:11Speaker 5: when he was playing for the Rangers in New York.
- 29:14Speaker 5: Just a really good dude. I was bummed out. His
- 29:16Speaker 5: favorite band was Faith No More. Yes, he went on
- 29:20Speaker 5: the road. It was like roading for them for a
- 29:22Speaker 5: couple of weeks. And they had a show in Williamsburg,
- 29:27Speaker 5: New York a few years ago. And I went to
- 29:28Speaker 5: the show and it is great, and I left and
- 29:31Speaker 5: the manager of Faith No More was texting. He said, hey,
- 29:34Speaker 5: are you still here? I said, no, I re splitched.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Oh Dan Boyle's here and he wants to say hi.
- 29:39Speaker 5: I'm like, oh darn, And he's wearing a metal bade
- 29:41Speaker 5: sure of course. So he's a great dude.
- 29:44Speaker 4: What's your kind of I see all the jerseys behind
- 29:48Speaker 4: you a little bit. Number one. We'll get into those
- 29:50Speaker 4: in a second. But do you have a game or
- 29:52Speaker 4: like you talked about the Islanders Cup runs, is there
- 29:55Speaker 4: a game that really stands out to you that is
- 29:57Speaker 4: one of your favorite moments or teams.
- 30:00Speaker 5: I've spent so many of them, but the second King
- 30:03Speaker 5: Stanley Cup Championship where they won an overtime while Routina scored,
- 30:07Speaker 5: probably that game was the most like because I was
- 30:09Speaker 5: you know, I'd been a King season ticket over since
- 30:11Speaker 5: eighty two and never in my lifetime they ever won
- 30:13Speaker 5: a Cup. And when when the first Cup, I was
- 30:16Speaker 5: actually in Europe, so I missed the whole thing. I
- 30:18Speaker 5: missed the parades, I missed almost like they didn't win
- 30:21Speaker 5: for me. So the second one was a lot of fun.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Lars was actually there at that game too, and I
- 30:26Speaker 5: made a critical mistake. I was there with my buddy
- 30:29Speaker 5: Monty Pittman, who was the daughter's guitar player, and we
- 30:32Speaker 5: both lived in the South Bay. And afterwards we were like,
- 30:34Speaker 5: so should we stick around or should we leave? Because
- 30:37Speaker 5: you know, LA is famous for burning down downtown La
- 30:39Speaker 5: when their teams win. So we left early and we
- 30:43Speaker 5: went to Hermosa where the Kings Bar is and it's
- 30:46Speaker 5: going to be this big party. Nothing crickets. It was
- 30:49Speaker 5: like nothing had ever happened. And then I get a
- 30:51Speaker 5: picture later of Lars in the in the after the
- 30:54Speaker 5: King's after party holding the Stanley Cup over his head
- 30:57Speaker 5: saying like, oh, they'll let anybody touch this thing. It's like, well,
- 30:59Speaker 5: that was not a good move. But that game, though,
- 31:02Speaker 5: was just phenomenal. Just overtime and seeing the Kings win
- 31:06Speaker 5: was that was so much fun.
- 31:07Speaker 3: I love that.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Your favorite Cup win was the year I got reverse swept.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I was in San Josean we got reverse swept that
- 31:13Speaker 4: year toohears I watched. I was watching that goal at
- 31:17Speaker 4: a bar in Austin, Texas with a buddy of mine
- 31:21Speaker 4: and I literally turned to him and I said, I
- 31:23Speaker 4: need to get absolutely blacked out drunk because I'm depressed,
- 31:26Speaker 4: no joke.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's a rough that's a rough oneof.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Oh, we would like to squeeze in some news in
- 31:32Speaker 1: the pot as well if we can't. Bryan, So, Chris
- 31:34Speaker 1: Krider got a healthy scratch. If you were Chris Grider
- 31:36Speaker 1: and you just got a healthy scratch as he did.
- 31:38Speaker 1: What's the best metal band to help you vent that frustration?
- 31:42Speaker 5: Oh? Well, you got to go to a Slayer like Slayers.
- 31:45Speaker 5: If you're angry and upset, to put on Rain and
- 31:47Speaker 5: Blood and just go crazy, it's like thirty minutes of
- 31:50Speaker 5: complete insanity. So ill. I'm a big Denver Bronco fan
- 31:55Speaker 5: and they lost a Super Bowl one year, like fifty
- 31:57Speaker 5: five to ten or something.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I was so mad.
- 31:59Speaker 5: I put on that record and chopped I had a
- 32:02Speaker 5: door that was broken already and I chopped it down.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I'm listening to that right.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 32:05Speaker 5: It was very that was very vengeful. Yeah, Rain of Blood,
- 32:10Speaker 5: that's the one.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Brian Sligel Metal Blade Record CEO again one hundred songs
- 32:14Speaker 1: to find heavy Metal as a podcast? Who are going
- 32:16Speaker 1: to release the new documentary series on the history of
- 32:18Speaker 1: heavy metal Into the Void in twenty twenty five.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Glad you one question before you leave? Who do you
- 32:24Speaker 3: got winning the Cup this year?
- 32:26Speaker 5: Well, so I got to go with the team that
- 32:28Speaker 5: I picked at the beginning, and I'm usually pretty good
- 32:30Speaker 5: at this. I've got five of the last.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Six I've got don't tell me you picked the Rangers.
- 32:34Speaker 5: No no, no, no, no. Five of the last six,
- 32:37Speaker 5: I've got at least one team in the Cup finals.
- 32:39Speaker 2: So wow.
- 32:40Speaker 5: I put the Leafs and the Oilers to go to
- 32:42Speaker 5: the final with the Oilers finally winning and the leaves
- 32:45Speaker 5: are looking good. Oilers not looking so.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Good, oilers. No, Oilers have cleaned it up. Now they're
- 32:51Speaker 4: they're you're the need they need to trade some but
- 32:53Speaker 4: they've cleaned up.
- 32:53Speaker 3: But I like that. I actually love that pick.
- 32:55Speaker 4: That was a lot of people have the Oilers going
- 32:57Speaker 4: back and Toronto is a little one. A lot of
- 32:59Speaker 4: people picked him in Toronto, but no one kind of outside.
- 33:02Speaker 4: So I I don't mind that pick. If they can
- 33:04Speaker 4: a healthy with that goaltending, now they have a chance.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I picked him because of the coach. I think.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I think he's a coach for them. He's gonna He's
- 33:10Speaker 5: already made them play more of a playoff style now. Yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 5: they still have the explosiveness. As long as Matthews isn't
- 33:15Speaker 5: out too long, they'll be good. Yeah, Evanton kind of
- 33:18Speaker 5: gets it together at the end of the year, but
- 33:19Speaker 5: they need they need help on defense, and I'm not
- 33:21Speaker 5: sure about their goaltending either.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Chiefs gotta be a metal guy. I mean, Craig Beruby
- 33:25Speaker 2: has got to be just you would hope. So I
- 33:27Speaker 2: mean that's if ever there was a guy Taylor bade
- 33:29Speaker 2: to it. We still see Brian. This was awesome and
- 33:31Speaker 2: seriously can't think it out. Thanks for supporting unscare in credible.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Oh thanks for you guys having me. I loved it
- 33:35Speaker 5: and anytime I'm here m hm.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Again, Brian Slagel was awesome. It was such a jode jay.
- 33:50Speaker 6: You hooked it up.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Man, I appreciate it.
- 33:53Speaker 4: I'm I'm doing booking, I'm doing social media, I'm doing interviews,
- 33:58Speaker 4: and I'm the talent. And I don't say that lightly
- 34:00Speaker 4: but I will now uh, and I'm the content talent.
- 34:05Speaker 3: What else do you want me to do here? Help us?
- 34:08Speaker 5: Help me?
- 34:09Speaker 4: But I just want to know you did a little
- 34:11Speaker 4: radio hit in Vancouver. I don't know are you getting
- 34:13Speaker 4: paid enough with the network and do you need help?
- 34:15Speaker 2: Listen? Every dollar count you know how this works.
- 34:17Speaker 1: So every week I appear on the Fan five ninety
- 34:20Speaker 1: in Toronto on Fridays, I appear on nine to sixty
- 34:22Speaker 1: in Calgary on Thursdays, and then I go Vancouver Radio
- 34:24Speaker 1: six fifty on Mondays.
- 34:25Speaker 2: So listen, you add up.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Those radio hits, a little bit of exposure, and especially
- 34:29Speaker 1: after Taal told us the numbers.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Now I'm really pumping up unscripted like normal.
- 34:32Speaker 1: When they bring me in, they go, here is Emmy
- 34:34Speaker 1: Award winner at nam Verkar major League BASEB play insider.
- 34:36Speaker 2: We also talk hockey in movies.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Now.
- 34:37Speaker 2: They go, hey, guys, guys, you gotta really mention on scripts.
- 34:40Speaker 1: They go, Emmy Award winner, MLB Network, NHL Network and
- 34:43Speaker 1: the co host of NHL and scripted with Verkin demurs.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm like, guys, every little bump helps.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Do they preface it with podcast startup? Are we in
- 34:52Speaker 3: that route podcast start up?
- 34:54Speaker 4: No?
- 34:54Speaker 2: But they did ask me. They go, who is it?
- 34:55Speaker 2: I go, it's a collaboration with the NHL and iHeartMedia.
- 34:58Speaker 1: They go, wow, excuse us. I didn't want a big
- 35:00Speaker 1: hitter over here. I'm like, yeah, so it is a
- 35:01Speaker 1: big deal. But Vancouver this week they I wanted to
- 35:04Speaker 1: talk about this whole well, actually, I want to bring
- 35:06Speaker 1: it up to them.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Was the old j T Miller Elias Peterson situations.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Now they said JT is pouring cold water on it,
- 35:13Speaker 1: and I said, Dak, But let me be clear, I'm
- 35:15Speaker 1: living in New Jersey. There's not a ton of Canucks
- 35:18Speaker 1: talk living in New Jersey. Okay, I know everything happened
- 35:20Speaker 1: with the Rangers right now with a tirefire, they are,
- 35:22Speaker 1: the Sabers are in mess, et cetera.
- 35:24Speaker 2: The fact that I'm.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Aware that there's dissension in Vancouver cannot be portending well.
- 35:28Speaker 1: So whether or not it's a minor issue, whether it's
- 35:31Speaker 1: a major issue being blown up, whatever, the point is
- 35:34Speaker 1: this Vancouver is a tricky team for me, Jake, cause
- 35:35Speaker 1: I look at them and I go humm, Like part
- 35:38Speaker 1: of me says that they could make a deep run.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Of course, I mean with with Archer Sea Lofts, they
- 35:42Speaker 2: could make a deep run a year ago.
- 35:43Speaker 1: But right now they're a wild card team the Western
- 35:46Speaker 1: Conference is is it currently set? Maybe maybe the Flames
- 35:49Speaker 1: enter the picture, whatever, But Vancouver has been an odd
- 35:51Speaker 1: season for me, A little bit up, a little bit down.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I don't want my star players fighting you.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Oh.
- 35:58Speaker 4: I have a lot of opinions on this because I
- 35:59Speaker 4: and I'll get to I'll get to the last part.
- 36:01Speaker 4: I just listen to like spitting Chicklets and Pod and I,
- 36:05Speaker 4: you know, typically I agree with them, and I think
- 36:06Speaker 4: they're so far wrong on this about trying to trade
- 36:10Speaker 4: one of these guys. I think it's the dumbest take.
- 36:13Speaker 4: And here's the thing with that, okay, regardles the media,
- 36:16Speaker 4: Number one, just let it die, like, go find something else,
- 36:19Speaker 4: Go do your job, go find something else.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Leave it alone. You know. JT.
- 36:23Speaker 4: Miller comes back from getting a mental reset and just
- 36:26Speaker 4: thrown right in the fire immediately with all this nonsense
- 36:29Speaker 4: of him and Peterson.
- 36:30Speaker 3: And here's the thing.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Who gives a shit if they don't like each other?
- 36:34Speaker 4: So media, let it die. I don't know exactly what's
- 36:37Speaker 4: going on in that room, but if they do have
- 36:39Speaker 4: some issues, squash it. And if you can't squash it,
- 36:42Speaker 4: who gives a rats ass? Who gives a shit? Keep
- 36:46Speaker 4: bleeping me out?
- 36:46Speaker 3: I love it? Who cares? If you I don't care.
- 36:49Speaker 4: You know how many guys I played with that I
- 36:52Speaker 4: didn't like, tons endless guys that I didn't like, didn't
- 36:56Speaker 4: say five words to in the room.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Not that just just give us one name.
- 36:59Speaker 3: No I won't give you.
- 37:00Speaker 4: I won't give you one name. But but not like that.
- 37:02Speaker 4: We just didn't get it. We didn't get along, and
- 37:04Speaker 4: get along like you know, I blame yourself.
- 37:06Speaker 2: So I was a jerk to him, but he also
- 37:07Speaker 2: did you.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Know me, every everybody loved me there's nobody that dislikes me.
- 37:11Speaker 4: But uh yeah, I'm sure there's guys that dislike me.
- 37:14Speaker 4: But when you know that I'm going on the ice,
- 37:17Speaker 4: you know that I'm playing for you, and I'm playing
- 37:19Speaker 4: for the team. You're playing for the guy next to you.
- 37:21Speaker 4: So whoever's saying trade one of them, you don't know
- 37:25Speaker 4: anything about hockey and if they if they have to result,
- 37:28Speaker 4: like unless somebody did something to you know, I don't private, yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 4: something private, nefarious, Yeah, but I don't see that happening.
- 37:38Speaker 4: I don't see Elias Petterson as a guy that would
- 37:40Speaker 4: do that, and I don't see JT.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Miller. JT. Miller's a family.
- 37:42Speaker 4: I know both these guys from multiple guys in the
- 37:45Speaker 4: league that they're great guys. So they might just not
- 37:49Speaker 4: connect on a certain level. They might not like each other.
- 37:51Speaker 4: It just might not work.
- 37:53Speaker 3: You know. JT.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Miller is very fiery and Elias Peterson's more ice, so
- 37:57Speaker 4: he might be yelling at Petterson, hey, pick it up,
- 38:00Speaker 4: pick it up, and Pederson doesn't quite like it and
- 38:02Speaker 4: it probably doesn't sit.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Well with him.
- 38:03Speaker 4: But again, if you guys can win and play and
- 38:07Speaker 4: just sit there and be like guys, I don't care
- 38:08Speaker 4: if you hate each other. I don't care if you
- 38:10Speaker 4: want to stab them with a knife when you're on
- 38:12Speaker 4: the ice, learn how to play together. And that's you know,
- 38:16Speaker 4: if these two guys can't figure out how to play together,
- 38:21Speaker 4: which it doesn't see it seems like they play fine together.
- 38:23Speaker 4: They're on the ice for four on fours together, they're
- 38:25Speaker 4: playing power play together, they're scoring, they're passing each other
- 38:28Speaker 4: for goals. So everything's just shut the hell up and like.
- 38:32Speaker 2: So it's not necessarily much to do about nothing. They
- 38:34Speaker 2: may hate each other, but you're just saying, who cares.
- 38:35Speaker 2: It doesn't matter if they do or they don't like it.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Juke cares. Just play that.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Don't want to close with this final thought, which is
- 38:40Speaker 1: gonna be New Year's Resolutions, because we're gonna come out
- 38:43Speaker 1: with twenty twenty five on fire. I can't imagine you're
- 38:45Speaker 1: a resolutions guy. There's no way. Maybe I'm wrong. I
- 38:48Speaker 1: can't imagine Jasonibursitz there and goes, you know what I'm
- 38:51Speaker 1: gonna do this next year. It just seems so hokey
- 38:54Speaker 1: and ridiculous. But prove me wrong. Maybe you are a
- 38:57Speaker 1: resolutions guy. I do it a little bit, and it's
- 38:59Speaker 1: always the same resolution, which is be on my phone
- 39:02Speaker 1: a little left and now thanks you. I can't because
- 39:04Speaker 1: you are rightly putting us on social media. So I'm like,
- 39:06Speaker 1: i gotta check out demurs add to my story. I'm like,
- 39:08Speaker 1: he's right, we're trying to grow the audience here. Quite frankly,
- 39:11Speaker 1: unscript has to grow. But be on my phone last
- 39:13Speaker 1: would be my resolution.
- 39:14Speaker 4: You ah, yeah, I think the whole thing is contrived
- 39:18Speaker 4: and stupid. I just think any of that is it's consumerism.
- 39:23Speaker 4: It's a way for people to sell things. Yeah, I
- 39:25Speaker 4: think if you want something to get done in your life,
- 39:28Speaker 4: just do it. I know it's sounds stupid, and if
- 39:31Speaker 4: you need that day, listen, if people need that day
- 39:34Speaker 4: to maybe spark something. But there's a reason that gym
- 39:38Speaker 4: memberships go off the hook on New Year's and that's
- 39:41Speaker 4: the biggest month in gym's, the first month off. But
- 39:45Speaker 4: keeping up with that discipline is the hardest thing. So
- 39:47Speaker 4: it's just, you know, do what you need to do
- 39:50Speaker 4: to get motivated and be as best a human as possible.
- 39:55Speaker 1: But there's nothing worse to someone said I'm gonna lose
- 39:56Speaker 1: fifteen pounds. That's my New Year's resolution and theime the genu.
- 39:59Speaker 2: There and then by February they're gone.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it. So I'm just like, I like more consistency.
- 40:05Speaker 4: If you do something really small and you do it
- 40:06Speaker 4: over and over again and you do that for a
- 40:09Speaker 4: full year. Yeah, I'm you don't have to people make
- 40:11Speaker 4: sweeping declarations on New Year. It's like, you get off
- 40:14Speaker 4: your phone a little bit more. That's a good one.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Do something that you can do and build with that.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Like yeah, and you know.
- 40:19Speaker 4: It's like goal setting. You know, you set that one
- 40:21Speaker 4: to start and then you set them a little bit more,
- 40:24Speaker 4: a little bit more, so you just kind of get
- 40:26Speaker 4: your body used to being in the uncomfortable of getting
- 40:29Speaker 4: off your phone for maybe an hour less a day,
- 40:31Speaker 4: and then from there you just grow. But yeah, like
- 40:33Speaker 4: the whole notion of all we go to New Year's
- 40:35Speaker 4: and say now I'm gonna lose, Now I'm gonna be
- 40:38Speaker 4: skinny or something, it's like, just do it to other
- 40:41Speaker 4: eleven months in the year. Just put down the put
- 40:45Speaker 4: down the doughnut, go to the gym, put pick up
- 40:48Speaker 4: some weights.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Just pick up some weights.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Last thought, and we'll wrap things up. Oh zempic dicey,
- 40:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it. If I know somebody's a cal
- 40:56Speaker 1: I'm taking ozmpic, like good luck when you grow a
- 40:58Speaker 1: third head.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's another one. It's like a Camp La
- 41:02Speaker 3: June thing.
- 41:03Speaker 4: You're gonna see, you know, and you're gonna see like
- 41:06Speaker 4: a class action lass who come out in twenty five years.
- 41:09Speaker 4: You'll be sitting that your kids will be like, oh,
- 41:10Speaker 4: what's this ozempic And you're gonna be all back in
- 41:12Speaker 4: my day, I one hundred percent percent.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I lost weight, but I shortened my lifespan by a
- 41:21Speaker 1: dozen years.
- 41:22Speaker 4: The studies on the studies on it already coming out
- 41:26Speaker 4: of like the minimal or like it's reduces bone density
- 41:32Speaker 4: and it's crazy like what it does your stomach anytime?
- 41:36Speaker 3: You know.
- 41:36Speaker 4: I've some people I know that have taken it and
- 41:40Speaker 4: they're like, oh, yeah, it's if I uh, if I
- 41:43Speaker 4: drink any alcohol, like I get like, oh, it's like awful,
- 41:46Speaker 4: like my stomach's and not like don't you think that's
- 41:49Speaker 4: probably bad for you that you and maybe you shouldn't
- 41:51Speaker 4: be drinking and taking ozempic if you're taking if you're
- 41:54Speaker 4: deciding to lose weight.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Oh, it is the holiday season. Obviously, it's a great
- 41:57Speaker 1: time for everyone to be with friends and family. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: hope everyone has a wonderful time. And I'm curious from
- 42:00Speaker 1: a hockey perspective, Jay, as people are shutting things down,
- 42:03Speaker 1: you know, as you time. For NHL players, the roster
- 42:06Speaker 1: phreeze keeps players from getting traded. Guys can get away
- 42:08Speaker 1: a little bit. So what do players do? Did you
- 42:10Speaker 1: go to Cabo?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Is that your thing?
- 42:14Speaker 4: Much to my sugar and I went to Cabo, got
- 42:17Speaker 4: dragged there every year. Some of the guys said it
- 42:19Speaker 4: would be different, and it would be oh, I we'll
- 42:21Speaker 4: have a good time, and I'm oh my god. I
- 42:24Speaker 4: like to be a little bit, you know, I get
- 42:26Speaker 4: antsy going to the same place more than once. And
- 42:30Speaker 4: I started kind of Me and my wife started doing
- 42:32Speaker 4: different when we were dating at the time. We started
- 42:35Speaker 4: doing different little trips. We went to moaib Utah Wow,
- 42:38Speaker 4: went like on a via Ferada and like climbed side
- 42:41Speaker 4: of a mountain. Stuff like that. We went and said
- 42:43Speaker 4: this really cool resort. We'd go up like north in Flagstaff.
- 42:48Speaker 4: We kind of bounce around and try to do a
- 42:51Speaker 4: little different things. I went to Kabo like my second
- 42:53Speaker 4: year and we rented a huge house. There's fourteen people
- 42:56Speaker 4: in the house, and eight people got neurovirus for a
- 43:03Speaker 4: week and we were not a week. So we're there
- 43:06Speaker 4: for five days, and for four of the five days
- 43:10Speaker 4: people were out of commission. I didn't get it, and
- 43:14Speaker 4: it was like me and two other guys didn't get it,
- 43:16Speaker 4: and we were just basically living in this mansion house.
- 43:19Speaker 4: Everybody was sick, like violently sick, like you. And then
- 43:25Speaker 4: the best part of that trip is the day we're
- 43:28Speaker 4: about to leave one of the girls who was sick
- 43:31Speaker 4: the whole time, because let's get a picture of everybody together,
- 43:34Speaker 4: because everybody was like feeling a little bit better on
- 43:37Speaker 4: the last day, like theymeter. Yeah, well they went to Cobo.
- 43:42Speaker 4: They went to Cobba to get violently sick, and then
- 43:44Speaker 4: went home.
- 43:44Speaker 3: So that was their vacation.
- 43:46Speaker 4: And then I look, you know, two days later, and
- 43:49Speaker 4: she's posted the picture online saying best trip ever. False advertising,
- 43:57Speaker 4: false advertising, And I want, I was like, weren't you
- 44:00Speaker 4: sick for four days?
- 44:02Speaker 3: Great?
- 44:02Speaker 2: What this wasn't?
- 44:03Speaker 1: The feel good story was, But I thought, You're like, oh, dude,
- 44:05Speaker 1: I love a good holiday break at that But you're
- 44:06Speaker 1: like no. I actually I've had bad experiences with it.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I like the well, I.
- 44:10Speaker 4: Never got sick, but I got like I always listen, Hey,
- 44:14Speaker 4: daddy's gonna have a good time always.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I mean the option of in the past players playing
- 44:20Speaker 1: on Christmas daily awful.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Rightly, it is nice in the league, says dude, take
- 44:24Speaker 2: three days just chill.
- 44:25Speaker 4: Yeah, you need to give I think guys need the break.
- 44:27Speaker 4: I don't love the break they have now, the not
- 44:31Speaker 4: the All Star break, but they have like the bye week.
- 44:33Speaker 3: I don't. I don't love that.
- 44:34Speaker 4: I think just spread it out more throughout the season
- 44:36Speaker 4: and have more days off throughout the season. I think
- 44:39Speaker 4: that's what guys more need because even though you get
- 44:41Speaker 4: that week break, you're then just pounded. You're in the
- 44:45Speaker 4: you're in the everyday grind of it, and I feel
- 44:47Speaker 4: like having an extra couple of days every now and
- 44:49Speaker 4: again is more impactful for guys than just one week,
- 44:53Speaker 4: you know, lumped into the middle of the season. I
- 44:56Speaker 4: just I don't love it. I never did. I think
- 44:58Speaker 4: it's something that I would get rid of because you
- 45:00Speaker 4: have the All Star break, which is great if you're
- 45:03Speaker 4: not in the also give me a three four days,
- 45:04Speaker 4: but then sprinkle just some more days off and let
- 45:07Speaker 4: the season finish earlier.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I want to wish everybody Merry Christmas out there, a
- 45:11Speaker 1: happy Hanukkah, happy Holidays. We're gonna be back and better
- 45:13Speaker 1: than ever more Unscripted in twenty twenty five. We're gonna crush,
- 45:17Speaker 1: just like a special guest to give us a headfield
