- 0:01Speaker 1: Let's talk about some etiquette rules. Shout out to my boy.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I don't even know if he wants me to say
- 0:06Speaker 1: his name, but shout out to, yeah, you know, a
- 0:09Speaker 1: friend of mine, we recently had a conversation. He was like,
- 0:12Speaker 1: I think I'm black. I need to really just have
- 0:13Speaker 1: a series on etiquette because people don't know. So one
- 0:16Speaker 1: of the things that he brought up is like, look,
- 0:19Speaker 1: if somebody, whoever is the head of the table, you
- 0:24Speaker 1: go to a business meeting, right? You've been invited. There's
- 0:27Speaker 1: somebody that's the head of the table. Figuratively or just literally,
- 0:31Speaker 1: but the person that's probably going to pay for the bill.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 3: The person that curated the vibe. Okay. This is important.
- 0:42Speaker 3: You kind of got to follow the lead of that person.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Do people need etiquette classes in 2026? 1,000%.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:48Speaker 1: You kind of got to follow the lead of that person. Meaning,
- 0:52Speaker 1: technically in that situation, nobody should start eating until everybody
- 0:55Speaker 1: gets their food.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Definitely don't start eating before that person leaves.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And I got some people like, oh, you trying to
- 1:02Speaker 1: close a business deal, right?
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm trying to help you guys out. That's one. You
- 1:11Speaker 3: don't leave until said person leaves. Said person is the leader.
- 1:16Speaker 3: You can't leave before said person leaves. Right? Everybody kind
- 1:21Speaker 3: of orders at the same time.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:24Speaker 1: A lot of restaurants now, they take Every order at once,
- 1:27Speaker 1: like they take the appetizer thing and dessert at once.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Don't scarf down your entree, then order the cake and
- 1:38Speaker 1: don't order dessert. Dessert should never be ordered in that situation.
- 1:43Speaker 3: It should only be ordered.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Or tell them why.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Well, because you're doing too much.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Now we got to talk about it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It's a set agreement when you go out to dinner
- 1:54Speaker 1: that we have appetizers and we have entree.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Dessert is always optional. Dessert is always an optional situation.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So it can be seen as A, you could potentially
- 2:07Speaker 3: be doing too much as far as the meal is
- 2:09Speaker 3: concerned and you're too hungry, literally. And B, it could
- 2:14Speaker 3: be deemed as too much of being inconsiderate of the bill.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Once again, watch your drinks. Cocktails and basic level one.
- 2:27Speaker 4: But that's what happens because the drinks get to flowing.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Then the extra, yo, can I get another Wagyu?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh, you got a Wagyu imported from Argentina? Bring that.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And it's like, okay, my boy.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Be careful on your drink orders. Read the room. If
- 2:45Speaker 3: wait to order.
- 2:46Speaker 1: If everybody's ordering a drink, order a light cocktail, order
- 2:51Speaker 1: a mid-level level wine. Don't order the most expensive drink
- 3:00Speaker 1: in the menu.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Just because.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Just because you're not paying for it. That can be
- 3:04Speaker 1: deemed inconsiderate and that can be deemed weird. But also,
- 3:09Speaker 1: if nobody's drinking, don't be the one person to drink.
- 3:13Speaker 1: If nobody's drinking at the table, that's for a reason.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And if you're in a business setting, I don't think
- 3:18Speaker 1: you should be drinking anywhere. Well, that's another thing too.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And technically, I was always taught never have a business meet.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Lunch meetings is the worst thing you can do.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Or meet for dinner. If you want to meet somebody
- 3:32Speaker 1: for business, especially if it's your first time, especially if
- 3:35Speaker 1: you're trying to present something to them. There's a few
- 3:38Speaker 1: different ways to handle business. If we just getting together
- 3:41Speaker 1: and we just you know, just catching a vibe as
- 3:43Speaker 1: far as feeling each other out pause. And I, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 1: that's one, but like when I was in business, I
- 3:48Speaker 1: was in, I was presenting things as far as investments,
- 3:52Speaker 1: life insurance. And I was always taught never, never do
- 3:55Speaker 1: lunch or dinner, do lunch or dinner because a, it's
- 3:57Speaker 1: not a serious conversation.
- 3:59Speaker 3: You ain't get easily distracted. You're trying to put papers
- 4:01Speaker 3: on a table that has food and drinks. There's music
- 4:05Speaker 3: playing that people talking. It's not a good setting for that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And they'll take you more serious.
- 4:10Speaker 2: For sure.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You don't go to the doctor over dinner.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You don't meet your lawyer at lunch.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And it's better for the client to come meet you
- 4:18Speaker 4: anyway because the conversion is fine.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And it's a controlled environment.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Exactly. You control the setting. You have a different level
- 4:25Speaker 3: of prestige when they're coming to you. Yeah. So, that's
- 4:30Speaker 3: important as far as the etiquette is concerned. Also, etiquette,
- 4:32Speaker 3: what do you wear?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Oh, man. You can't say, I'm going to say it.
- 4:38Speaker 4: There's too many people that are going to formal events
- 4:42Speaker 4: dressed non-formally. Like, I told you, Post Invest Fest, I'm
- 4:47Speaker 4: back on my PR thing.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I'm shaking hands, kissing baby. Everyone wears suits now, right?
- 4:52Speaker 2: So you don't got to do that.
- 4:54Speaker 4: But if the things say dinner or black tie, you
- 4:58Speaker 4: shouldn't come in with a zebra print Nike tech suit.
- 5:04Speaker 1: If it's a black tie event, you should wear a tie.
- 5:08Speaker 1: That's why it's literally called, they tried to make it
- 5:11Speaker 1: as easy as possible for you guys. It's literally called
- 5:13Speaker 1: black tie because you're supposed to wear a black tie.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. And how you present yourself does have an impact.
- 5:22Speaker 3: A hundred percent.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So you shouldn't wear a button up shirt that unbuttoned.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It's a black tie event. You should wear a tuxedo.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And like I said, you might be able to get
- 5:35Speaker 1: away with, you know, a nice suit.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Now.
- 5:41Speaker 2: But you need a formal black tie.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Tuxedo.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Now, if you wear, you should not be wearing sneakers
- 5:51Speaker 1: to a black tie. Prada shoes are not shoes.
- 5:56Speaker 3: They're sneakers.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Well, Nike, another dumbass decision.
- 5:59Speaker 4: They got black Air Force Ones you can wear with
- 6:01Speaker 4: a tux and patent leather.
- 6:03Speaker 3: The American Cup Pradas are not shoes. They're sneakers.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You can call them dress sneakers if you want, but
- 6:11Speaker 1: they're sneakers. They're actually sneakers. How do you know the
- 6:13Speaker 1: difference between a sneaker and a shoe? One has a
- 6:16Speaker 1: rubber bottom. The other has, that's why I call it
- 6:19Speaker 1: hard bottom.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Right?
- 6:22Speaker 1: When in doubt, if you're wearing something with rubber at
- 6:26Speaker 1: a formal event, you should change said shoe to something
- 6:30Speaker 1: that has a hard bottom.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Yes. And it makes you feel better. especially if you're
- 6:35Speaker 4: in a business setting, you're taken more seriously. And another thing,
- 6:39Speaker 4: don't make the thing about you. Shot to resource world,
- 6:44Speaker 4: shot to Nas, had a great time, shot to Ramy,
- 6:46Speaker 4: shot to DT. But even when I went to have
- 6:52Speaker 4: a conversation with Nas, which we can talk about, he
- 6:55Speaker 4: is what he presents to be, but I think he's
- 6:57Speaker 4: probably the most humble superstar that we have in Culture, right?
- 7:01Speaker 2: Down to earth.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Like, just super dope person. When I went, I sat
- 7:04Speaker 4: at my table and I talked to those. I could
- 7:06Speaker 4: have worked the room, but you have to know when.
- 7:09Speaker 4: If it's not about you, it's about him. So I'm
- 7:13Speaker 4: just talking to the people who are here and here. Like,
- 7:16Speaker 4: almost half the night, we didn't even talk.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Then you get up.
- 7:20Speaker 4: How you move matters because a lot of times when
- 7:22Speaker 4: you want to do business and be in close proximity
- 7:27Speaker 4: with people, you're not going to get it on the
- 7:28Speaker 4: first time anyway. It's going to take you five or
- 7:31Speaker 4: six follow-ups. Like even let's take me and Bilal. Me
- 7:34Speaker 4: and Bilal little have known each other maybe four years.
- 7:38Speaker 4: We felt each other out eight or nine times before
- 7:41Speaker 4: we did one interview. It's not going to be. And
- 7:46Speaker 4: a lot of times you guys want business one night
- 7:48Speaker 4: stands and you want the deal quick. And that's why
- 7:50Speaker 4: the deals go awry because they haven't vetted you and
- 7:53Speaker 4: you haven't vetted them. And that's how a lot of
- 7:55Speaker 4: you get scammed with Dajon Love and him telling he
- 7:57Speaker 4: own Gucci on part of Saks Fifth Avenue and all that.
- 8:00Speaker 4: So there's times to work the room and there's times
- 8:03Speaker 4: to just be more chill. But if you are dressing up, especially,
- 8:08Speaker 4: especially even for this trip, like I even heard them
- 8:11Speaker 4: in the hotel. They're like, oh, that's the investor. I
- 8:14Speaker 4: seen him, but it will look different if I just
- 8:17Speaker 4: had on Kith. Shout out to Kith. I like the brand,
- 8:20Speaker 4: but being in suits and presenting a certain way does matter.
- 8:23Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And, When they line your plate up, they have a
- 8:27Speaker 1: smaller fork and the fork is bigger. That's done because
- 8:30Speaker 1: the first one to the outside is used for the salad.
- 8:34Speaker 1: That's why it's smaller. It's the appetizer. The larger one
- 8:39Speaker 1: is used for the main course, entree. When you're done
- 8:42Speaker 1: with your salad, somebody should come and take your plate.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You put the smaller one on the plate for somebody
- 8:49Speaker 1: to take.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Take it away.
- 8:50Speaker 3: That's all things you got. You shouldn't put your elbows
- 8:54Speaker 3: on the table.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 3: When you eat.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Even forms, like you should be limited in that.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Oh.
- 9:01Speaker 2: But the double form.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Over, not under.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Under is the shovel method.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Over is the method.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah. And meeting people, don't pitch. Don't pitch. Just find
- 9:18Speaker 2: out how you can add value. Listen.
- 9:21Speaker 4: I'm sitting here. I'm talking to the guys next to me.
- 9:26Speaker 4: They're creating content. So I'm just asking them about their business.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I'm not saying anything about Red Panda, nothing about Stock Club,
- 9:32Speaker 4: nothing about Markham. If a person is interested in what
- 9:37Speaker 4: you do, because in America, that's a common thing.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Hey, what do you do?
- 9:39Speaker 4: Because they're trying to rank you according to that. But
- 9:43Speaker 4: just be there and be a good person. You'll be
- 9:44Speaker 4: surprised at what will happen. And after that, just be
- 9:48Speaker 4: gracious and a follow-up. Nice to meet you. No hard pressing.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And if you're doing your job, they will then come
- 9:53Speaker 4: back to you. A lot of this, one of my
- 9:55Speaker 4: favorite books about Al Reese and Laura Reese's daughter positioning,
- 9:59Speaker 4: even the, the, the not selling, having a client come
- 10:02Speaker 4: to you. I don't do outbound calls for sales. That
- 10:07Speaker 4: is positioning. Cause if you come to me, the one
- 10:10Speaker 4: thing that made off did very well is despite him
- 10:15Speaker 4: selling more options than what was publicly available. That's what
- 10:18Speaker 4: a scam would arrive. The one thing he did do well,
- 10:21Speaker 4: if you read the book or watch any of those documentaries,
- 10:24Speaker 4: when he would take you out, he would never bring
- 10:26Speaker 4: up the investment first.
- 10:27Speaker 2: He would make you bring it up.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Because he don't want to sell you. He don't want
- 10:31Speaker 3: to sell you.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Sell me on why I should let you into the fund.
- 10:33Speaker 3: And it was almost like he did his hardest to
- 10:36Speaker 3: not let you in.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Psychological trick.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Also, learn about different cultures and customs, especially if you're
- 10:44Speaker 1: a traveler.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:45Speaker 3: For instance, I'll give you an example.
- 10:47Speaker 1: If you go to Dubai or anywhere in the Middle East,
- 10:50Speaker 1: you meet a woman, it's not, you don't touch women.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So how you greet them is different than if you,
- 10:58Speaker 1: how you, if you greet some, first of all, my opinion,
- 11:01Speaker 1: you shouldn't hug a stranger. Just hugging a random woman
- 11:04Speaker 1: is weird to me.
- 11:05Speaker 3: You meet a woman in America, hey, how you doing?
- 11:07Speaker 4: Especially y'all who do the, I saw y'all in the vest,
- 11:10Speaker 4: pelvis to pelvis. You trying to underscore, no, my boy,
- 11:14Speaker 4: side hug it, or, but for all y'all, what am
- 11:18Speaker 4: I hugging types?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Y'all are crazy.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Hugging somebody that you don't know is crazy. You meet
- 11:24Speaker 1: a woman in America.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Hey, how you doing?
- 11:26Speaker 1: You shake their hand. Pleasure to meet you. You don't
- 11:29Speaker 1: touch women in Middle Eastern culture. Hello, how you doing?
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That's important to understand because it's going to be an
- 11:38Speaker 1: awkward moment. Yeah, it's going to be offensive. You're going
- 11:41Speaker 1: to try to shake their hand and they're going to
- 11:43Speaker 1: look at you. And just avoid the awkwardness. Don't shake
- 11:48Speaker 1: hands with women if you are in that part of
- 11:51Speaker 1: the world. Or like I said, know where you're going.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Different cultures have different customs. That's important for you to understand.
