Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Channing Fry.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It took me years to stop hating them.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Twenty sixteen NBA Champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 0:07Speaker 2: We got Lebron and Kyrie. We got a chance, and he's.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Going to take you through their entire championship run presented
- 0:13Speaker 3: by State Frochards. After losing to the Warriors in the
- 0:18Speaker 3: twenty fifteen finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers enter the twenty fifteen
- 0:21Speaker 3: to sixteen season with a mission get it done. After
- 0:25Speaker 3: starting the season thirty and eleven, the best record in
- 0:28Speaker 3: the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers made a shocking move, firing
- 0:31Speaker 3: head coach David Blatt and promoting Tyrone lou A month later,
- 0:35Speaker 3: they traded for Channing Fry.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Practice was like, okay, you five, you're gonna play versus
- 0:44Speaker 4: that five. And you would look and it'd be like
- 0:47Speaker 4: Deli j R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Me and Moscow. That
- 0:51Speaker 4: would be a thirty five to forty win NBA team
- 0:54Speaker 4: versus like Bron, Kyrie, Kevin, Tristan Mo Williams.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And you're like, holy crap. We could practice against every
- 1:04Speaker 2: type of player.
- 1:05Speaker 4: These dudes are psychotic, man. Every day, these suckers were
- 1:08Speaker 4: in there practices at ten. They're in there at eight
- 1:11Speaker 4: getting their bodies worked on. They have their own trainers,
- 1:14Speaker 4: like I've never seen this before in my life. Usually
- 1:16Speaker 4: there's two security, two and a half maybe three trainers.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Kyrie had his own trainer, Kevin had his own trainer,
- 1:24Speaker 4: Bron had his own trainer, and then there were like
- 1:26Speaker 4: two trainers for the rest of the team. They had
- 1:28Speaker 4: gone to the finals the year before. There's some injuries.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Everyone I think was very cautious about Kevin and Kyrie
- 1:35Speaker 4: and Braun, knowing that any one of them getting hurt would.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Have derailed all this. But to us, we're just like,
- 1:40Speaker 2: holy crap, look at our team.
- 1:43Speaker 3: The Cavaliers entered the playoffs as the top seed in
- 1:45Speaker 3: the East with a fifty seven and twenty five record,
- 1:48Speaker 3: and the Cavs didn't skip a beat in Round one
- 1:50Speaker 3: against Detroit. One year after a fractured neecap cut short
- 1:54Speaker 3: his Finals debut, Kyrie looked better than ever, averaging twenty
- 1:58Speaker 3: seven point five points per game as Cleveland swept the Pistons.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Pistons were really, really tough. They were well coached, prepared, physical.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I think that team didn't get enough credit for how
- 2:13Speaker 4: good they were.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I think they just ran into a buzzsaw.
- 2:16Speaker 4: That's when I think Kyrie, I assume that's when he
- 2:19Speaker 4: really realized that it was like, we're going to you like,
- 2:23Speaker 4: yes Brown is here, yes everyone's here, but like you
- 2:25Speaker 4: are the batman to the superman. So I think that
- 2:28Speaker 4: really helped not only his trust, but the trust in
- 2:32Speaker 4: all of us that we could go to since a
- 2:34Speaker 4: young superstar at the time.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Next up for the Atlanta Hawks.
- 2:39Speaker 3: The Calves easily won games one and two at home
- 2:41Speaker 3: hundred dominant performances from their stars, but Game three belonged
- 2:45Speaker 3: to Channing Fry. Fry delivered one of the best games
- 2:48Speaker 3: of his career, leading all scorers with twenty seven points
- 2:51Speaker 3: off the bench while going seven of nine to three,
- 2:54Speaker 3: and then the Calves escaped Game four with a one
- 2:56Speaker 3: point victory to complete their second consecutive suite.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Richard Trash passed, Richard, Oh this boy like this crap.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Let my legs got nervous here, such stupid rotations.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It was the dumbest.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I gotta get better celebrations. Your best two players gotta
- 3:26Speaker 4: win you a game. Your bench has to win you
- 3:28Speaker 4: a game, and your coach has to win you a game.
- 3:30Speaker 4: If you think about every series, every one by anyone,
- 3:34Speaker 4: that's what happens.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And so this series, they.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Were the first two games they were in these weird rotations,
- 3:40Speaker 4: like they were almost double teaming soft double teaming Bron
- 3:44Speaker 4: and Kyrie, daring Kevin to make it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And I'm sitting on a bench like, oh, I wish
- 3:50Speaker 2: they would.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Right, And so we got to game three and I
- 3:54Speaker 4: made I don't know, I think I made my first
- 3:55Speaker 4: three or four, and I said, like eyes going back,
- 4:00Speaker 4: you know, like Kung Fu Panda shaboying them. They were
- 4:03Speaker 4: rotating with smaller guys. They were rotating with guys that
- 4:07Speaker 4: even if you were here, I'm seven foot tall, so
- 4:10Speaker 4: the minute this ball gets past my ear, you're not
- 4:12Speaker 4: contesting any of that. And so we're like, our job
- 4:15Speaker 4: is to make sure that Bron, Kyrie and Kevin don't
- 4:17Speaker 4: get double teamed. And if you don't get double teamed,
- 4:20Speaker 4: pace on paychecks.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's up to you to get thirty or forty and
- 4:23Speaker 2: help us win.
- 4:24Speaker 4: We didn't want to mess around and extend the series
- 4:28Speaker 4: or because all those things had happened to those guys
- 4:31Speaker 4: the year before, and they were like, okay, Game one,
- 4:34Speaker 4: we want at home, No big deal. Game two, what
- 4:38Speaker 4: adjustments can they make? What do we need to be
- 4:40Speaker 4: ready for and can we adjust on the fly? Then
- 4:43Speaker 4: game three, they're desperate. In game four, you got to
- 4:46Speaker 4: break them by the third quarter. If you break them
- 4:48Speaker 4: by the third quarter, everyone's looking up. When you see
- 4:51Speaker 4: people look up on that close out game third, fourth game,
- 4:54Speaker 4: then they're like do we have a chance, and that
- 4:58Speaker 4: doubt starts in and then you start to you know,
- 5:00Speaker 4: step on their neck as I say, we just wanted
- 5:02Speaker 4: to go have a crazy dinner at Kevin's house, to
- 5:05Speaker 4: be honest, like that was the goal. We'd sweep somebody
- 5:08Speaker 4: and then we'd go watch the two teams. It was like, oh,
- 5:11Speaker 4: we're having drinks, we're joining our one day off, and
- 5:14Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, somebody would say, like James
- 5:16Speaker 4: Jones be like hey, rewind that look at this substitution
- 5:18Speaker 4: because this guy did this, and then the whole team
- 5:21Speaker 4: like whoah. Like Mosquitoes was like aimed at the TV
- 5:26Speaker 4: thinking oh man, I'm going to go in here, or like.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe this isn't your series, but you need to
- 5:31Speaker 2: be ready in case this due plays.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So it was always like, yeah, we're enjoying it, but
- 5:35Speaker 4: it was like it got very business seed very quick.
- 5:38Speaker 4: That's why I knew Kevin and I were going to
- 5:39Speaker 4: be best friends. And charcuterie board had local artisanal honey,
- 5:44Speaker 4: fresh fruit like I was just like, Okay, this guy's
- 5:45Speaker 4: my guy, Andy, let me go through his wine fridge.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Next up the Toronto Raptors. The Cavs kept rolling, winning
- 5:52Speaker 3: their first two games at the Eastern Conference Finals and
- 5:54Speaker 3: extending their playoff record to ten zero. At that point,
- 5:58Speaker 3: they looked unstoppable, and in Toronto the series shifted. DeRozan
- 6:02Speaker 3: led the Raptors to victory in Game three with thirty
- 6:05Speaker 3: two points, and he did it again in Game four,
- 6:07Speaker 3: this time beside.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Kyle Lowry's thirty five.
- 6:10Speaker 3: For the first time all postseason, there were real questions
- 6:13Speaker 3: surrounding the Cavaliers what was going on.
- 6:19Speaker 4: The real answer is, we're bullshitting. That's the real answer. No,
- 6:22Speaker 4: no joke. We were unfocused. It was ridiculous they went off,
- 6:27Speaker 4: but it's the response that Toronto was supposed to have.
- 6:30Speaker 4: We let off the gas and they took up that
- 6:33Speaker 4: space very quickly. They're physical, well coached, they had stars,
- 6:38Speaker 4: they had guys that would.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Do anything to win.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I think Kyle Lowry is the greatest Toronto Raptip player
- 6:45Speaker 4: of all time. I think you just don't understand how
- 6:47Speaker 4: hard it is to consistently win as a small guard.
- 6:51Speaker 4: But if there was a charge to be had, a
- 6:53Speaker 4: dirty play to be made, that was the difference between
- 6:56Speaker 4: winning and losing. Kyle Lowery is doing that, and then
- 6:58Speaker 4: DeRozan was an it still is a master class at
- 7:03Speaker 4: scoring the basketballs. Watch stop right there. You're supposed to
- 7:06Speaker 4: be up to touch. Wasn't I can tell you right now.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Look at Kevin that's a bad contest. Let them get
- 7:11Speaker 4: to Spot Jr. Look at this not being physical with
- 7:14Speaker 4: him too much space, Wow, not sending him to the help.
- 7:18Speaker 4: When you look at these things, those are details of
- 7:20Speaker 4: like we weren't doing that the other series. We weren't
- 7:24Speaker 4: letting people get to their bag. And I think it
- 7:26Speaker 4: was Game five, but it might have been five, five
- 7:29Speaker 4: or six. We ran one play the whole quarter. It
- 7:31Speaker 4: was with Deli Richard Lebron. It was an absolute master class.
- 7:36Speaker 4: So TLU was like, remember that play we ran back
- 7:39Speaker 4: in April, and I'm like, brother, I don't remember what
- 7:42Speaker 4: happened two weeks ago.
- 7:43Speaker 2: He's like, we're gonna run this play and it's gonna work.
- 7:45Speaker 4: So they put me in a corner Lebron, Richard Delhi,
- 7:50Speaker 4: and then Schump.
- 7:50Speaker 2: When you run a play, every NBA play has seven options.
- 7:55Speaker 4: You run through the first option, you probably get that
- 7:57Speaker 4: second option, maybe there's a counter, maybe there's another counter,
- 8:02Speaker 4: and then your brain works.
- 8:03Speaker 2: We went through bing boom bing fou boo to the
- 8:07Speaker 2: point where.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I was looking at the guy guarding me, like what
- 8:09Speaker 4: you're gonna do because that's your help. But he's like, well,
- 8:12Speaker 4: you just made two threes. I go, yeah, but you
- 8:15Speaker 4: gotta be right there. He's like, well, I'm not leaving.
- 8:17Speaker 4: And then Lebron gets a dunk and I go, I
- 8:19Speaker 4: told you, I said, And that's where Fry Island came from.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I said, come on out here with me, just as
- 8:24Speaker 4: just me and you on this islands, just sitting here
- 8:26Speaker 4: watching everyone play basketball. Anybody can come out there, except
- 8:29Speaker 4: for guards. That sucked due because then I had to
- 8:31Speaker 4: guard them back there. Big guys. For sure. It's just
- 8:34Speaker 4: my way of being like an asset on the floor,
- 8:37Speaker 4: and it was just my niche and now everyone does it.
- 8:39Speaker 2: So that's why I'm retired.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Cleveland responded by winning the next two games and eliminating
- 8:44Speaker 3: the Raptors in six. For the second straight season, the
- 8:48Speaker 3: Cavaliers were headed to the NBA Finals. Waiting for them
- 8:52Speaker 3: was a familiar opponent, the Golden State Warriors, fresh off
- 8:55Speaker 3: of a historic seventy three wins season, the same team
- 8:59Speaker 3: that defeated them in the finals.
- 9:01Speaker 1: A year earlier. The NBA's newest rivalry.
- 9:03Speaker 3: He was about to begin another chapter in Oakland.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It was loud in there. Boy, I remember that thumping, loud.
- 9:13Speaker 2: God.
- 9:13Speaker 4: We were getting ready to go to the bus and
- 9:14Speaker 4: people were It was about one thousand people by our bus,
- 9:17Speaker 4: booing the crap out of us. I quickly learned that
- 9:21Speaker 4: this was more than just an NBA Finals. These two
- 9:24Speaker 4: teams hate each other. I had a very small role
- 9:27Speaker 4: in the finals. It took me years to stop hating
- 9:30Speaker 4: them because of the stuff.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I would tell myself and my.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Family and be like, you better not wear San Francisco
- 9:37Speaker 4: forty nine ers.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Nothing in the house. California does not exist. People assume that.
- 9:42Speaker 4: The common person assumes whatever Lebron is is God given.
- 9:46Speaker 4: You cannot just be six nine to seventy fast strong.
- 9:51Speaker 4: All this but people look at Steph Curry like I
- 9:54Speaker 4: could do that, I could shoot a thousand threes, when
- 9:57Speaker 4: in actuality, you can't be either. Steph is just now
- 10:01Speaker 4: I can say it to retired. Is just sickening to
- 10:05Speaker 4: watch because no matter how close you think you are,
- 10:09Speaker 4: he has this fucking arrogant grin and he's just like
- 10:14Speaker 4: and the crowd is going nuts. We started making a
- 10:17Speaker 4: lot of mistakes, having turnovers. I think they have the
- 10:20Speaker 4: best mistake of like turnover to points in the history
- 10:24Speaker 4: of the basketball. Like, you've turnover, it's three points. It's
- 10:27Speaker 4: like getting hit with a random hailstore and they're like, day,
- 10:30Speaker 4: are we down twenty already?
- 10:32Speaker 3: Game one in Oracle Arena was a Golden State blowout,
- 10:35Speaker 3: and surprisingly it wasn't because of Steph Curry and Klay
- 10:38Speaker 3: Thompson splash brothers combined to shoot just eight for twenty
- 10:41Speaker 3: seven from the field. Instead, it was Golden State's depth.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That made the difference.
- 10:45Speaker 3: The Warriors bench outscored Cleveland's bene forty five to ten,
- 10:49Speaker 3: helping power a one hundred and four to eighty nine
- 10:51Speaker 3: victory and a one.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Zero series lead. But it was Game two that truly
- 10:55Speaker 1: set off alarm bells.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Despite committing twenty turnovers, Golden State shot fifty four four
- 11:00Speaker 3: percent from the field and defeated Cleveland.
- 11:02Speaker 1: By thirty three points.
- 11:04Speaker 3: The Calves found themselves down to zero.
- 11:10Speaker 4: To be honest, both the games hurt because we had
- 11:13Speaker 4: to have like a coming to Jesus of people paying
- 11:16Speaker 4: attention and locking in.
- 11:18Speaker 2: On the details.
- 11:19Speaker 4: If you do this right and do this with intention,
- 11:22Speaker 4: stop playing private school basketball, start playing grab you make
- 11:27Speaker 4: it nasty street ball. We started to figure out the series.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Kevin got oh gosh, I forgot about that. When Kevin
- 11:33Speaker 4: got concussed. We played four guards, so Richard started. Tristan
- 11:38Speaker 4: was at the five, so we matched their size. The
- 11:42Speaker 4: smartest thing Richard did was he goes, this is gonna
- 11:45Speaker 4: be my series. Like I'm gonna be the one that
- 11:48Speaker 4: plays Jenny. They're too fast for you. I go perfect,
- 11:50Speaker 4: they're all guards. He goes, I need to get in
- 11:52Speaker 4: the game and get a feel for the pacing game.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So if you watch when we were getting blown out,
- 11:57Speaker 4: Richard was going dumb hard in guard Garbridge.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Stein and you were like, what is he doing right,
- 12:02Speaker 2: there's garbage time etiquette.
- 12:04Speaker 4: And then Telu saw this and goes we're going to
- 12:06Speaker 4: start you. So now we switched one through five. We
- 12:10Speaker 4: kept them above us. Now, Richard doesn't worry about scoring
- 12:15Speaker 4: of basketball. But when Richard was in there, he was
- 12:17Speaker 4: just screening hard boom rolling, putting pressure on Steph in
- 12:21Speaker 4: a different way. My brother was had Nirol glysserin in
- 12:25Speaker 4: his veins at the time. I think that's NOAs right,
- 12:28Speaker 4: Nice miss Dragons.
- 12:30Speaker 3: The Cavaliers responded with a crucial Game three win, but
- 12:33Speaker 3: if Cleveland wanted a realistic shot in a championship, they
- 12:36Speaker 3: needed to win Game four.
- 12:39Speaker 1: For most of the night, it was a battle.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Kyrie and Steph traded big shot after a big shot,
- 12:43Speaker 3: with neither team able to create much separation. But in
- 12:46Speaker 3: the fourth quarter, Cleveland's often stalled Golden.
- 12:49Speaker 1: State took control.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Curry hit a dagger three with under four minutes remaining
- 12:53Speaker 3: to extend the lead.
- 12:54Speaker 1: To double digits. Steph finished with thirty.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Eight points as Golden State earned a one hundred and
- 12:59Speaker 3: eight to ninety seven and took a commanding three to
- 13:01Speaker 3: one serious lead. No team had ever come back from
- 13:05Speaker 3: a three to one deficit in the NBA Finals.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Oh we shit the bad. Yeah, Yeah, we shit the bad.
- 13:13Speaker 4: What happens is when you hit somebody in the mouth
- 13:15Speaker 4: with a left, you're not gonna be able to throw
- 13:17Speaker 4: that same left. And they're like, uh, we see it now,
- 13:20Speaker 4: and we're like, oh damn, oh trash.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Emotions are trash. I'll lose now.
- 13:26Speaker 4: It's just like that Cleveland Craft is so freaking pumped. Man,
- 13:32Speaker 4: it just felt disappointing because they are almost like a
- 13:36Speaker 4: plug in your back for the energy.
- 13:38Speaker 2: The amount of adrenaline.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I could take fifty five hour energies and it still
- 13:42Speaker 4: wouldn't be enough to compare to what you're feeling. And
- 13:46Speaker 4: for basically Golden State to come in here and take
- 13:49Speaker 4: that belt off and spank us in front of our fans,
- 13:52Speaker 4: it could have broke other teams. This is what Broun said, like,
- 13:56Speaker 4: don't get on this complaint. If you don't think we
- 13:58Speaker 4: could win this game, we don't need none of this.
- 14:01Speaker 4: He's like, we got the team we need to win.
- 14:04Speaker 4: We just got to lock in. So like they locked
- 14:06Speaker 4: in even more, guys are like no family is here
- 14:10Speaker 4: and no hanging out here. We're spending sixteen hours a
- 14:13Speaker 4: day with each other. If we're not sleeping, we're in
- 14:16Speaker 4: the gym, we're in the weight room, we're watching film,
- 14:19Speaker 4: we're hanging out, we're doing stuff like I will never
- 14:22Speaker 4: have that intensive relationship with another teammate ever again. And
- 14:27Speaker 4: bron is like, all we need to do is win
- 14:29Speaker 4: one game and then we're gonna beat their ass if
- 14:31Speaker 4: we come back here. When we come back here, and
- 14:33Speaker 4: then it's one game, and we got Kyrie and me,
- 14:37Speaker 4: we got the right guys.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And I go, well, damn, what do you put it
- 14:41Speaker 2: like that? Like okay, you know, and everybody was like, oh, okay.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Muhammad Ali died during this time because I remember we're
- 14:51Speaker 4: out having a glass of wine.
- 14:52Speaker 2: We were with a bunch of people from Nike.
- 14:54Speaker 4: We're chilling, like okay, and I remember somebody whispered something
- 14:59Speaker 4: in a b the ear.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I remember it was nine o'clock at night or something
- 15:02Speaker 2: like that.
- 15:03Speaker 4: He crashed and he was like, about twenty minutes later, second,
- 15:08Speaker 4: I'm going to a gym. This motherfucker went down to
- 15:10Speaker 4: a gym and did a full workout in the NBA
- 15:13Speaker 4: finals because.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Mom, like, Muhammad Ali was his idol and all.
- 15:16Speaker 4: This, and I said, oooh, I said, boy, that's gonna
- 15:19Speaker 4: be a problem for somebody.
- 15:21Speaker 1: It would be a problem for the Warriors.
- 15:24Speaker 3: In Game five, Lebron delivered one of the greatest performances
- 15:27Speaker 3: of his career, finishing with forty one points, sixteen rebounds,
- 15:31Speaker 3: seven assists, three steals, and three blocks. Kyrie Irving matched
- 15:36Speaker 3: him with forty one points of his own, shooting seventeen
- 15:39Speaker 3: for twenty four from the field and five for seven
- 15:41Speaker 3: from three. The Warriors were without Draymond Green, who was
- 15:44Speaker 3: serving a suspension, and Cleveland took full advantage. Still, the
- 15:49Speaker 3: game remained within.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Reach for the Warriors.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Golden State cut the lead to six midway through the
- 15:53Speaker 3: fourth quarter, but that's when Kyrie took over. He scored
- 15:57Speaker 3: seven straight points, including a three, pushed the lead back
- 16:00Speaker 3: to double digits and silenced Oracle Arena. The Cavaliers won
- 16:04Speaker 3: one hundred and twelve to ninety seven.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I am a firm believer.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Even if Draymond was there, we would have still put
- 16:13Speaker 4: that belt on him unless he would.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Have grown two more arms and six more inches. No.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Game five was crazy. Game five was intense. The coaching
- 16:23Speaker 4: is Hall of Fame coaching. Every time they would put
- 16:26Speaker 4: a big man in and I go in, Steve Kurve
- 16:28Speaker 4: would take that big man out. I'd come out like
- 16:30Speaker 4: every single time. And so then Tilu looked Dante Jones
- 16:33Speaker 4: would get in the game, Moe Williams, then they would
- 16:36Speaker 4: go Deli. So then he's putting in all these different dudes,
- 16:38Speaker 4: and now we're playing nine while he's playing seven or eight.
- 16:41Speaker 4: The other things happened that were for our benefit. Injuries, right,
- 16:45Speaker 4: Andrew Boget going down was huge. I think Festus Zeli
- 16:49Speaker 4: hurt his knee, so they didn't have any bigs. Now,
- 16:51Speaker 4: you could throw the death lineup out there for a
- 16:54Speaker 4: couple of games, but to do that over the NBA
- 16:57Speaker 4: Finals where now we're going to our for Dante Jones,
- 17:01Speaker 4: Moe Williams, you know, del Vedova, Richard. So even if
- 17:05Speaker 4: they're five six minutes, that five or six minutes is
- 17:07Speaker 4: Elite Finals minutes that we needed, whether that's a hard foul,
- 17:12Speaker 4: whether that's just up and down to give Kyrie le
- 17:14Speaker 4: Bron a break.
- 17:15Speaker 2: And then I don't know what happened to neither one
- 17:17Speaker 2: of those boys.
- 17:18Speaker 4: They went to the moon, Yo to the moon, and
- 17:22Speaker 4: watching that firsthand, I said, man, hell.
- 17:25Speaker 2: No, they were moving so fast.
- 17:27Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys watch anime, but you know,
- 17:29Speaker 4: like when the two big characters go together like a
- 17:32Speaker 4: demon slayer, and the guy goes.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I can't see them. You know, they're moving so fast.
- 17:36Speaker 2: That's what was happening.
- 17:37Speaker 4: And that's like total respect to Golden State, But it
- 17:40Speaker 4: was just like two sword fighters.
- 17:43Speaker 2: You just hear the noise and then they're over there.
- 17:45Speaker 2: You're like, damn, what did that happen.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Whenever you talk about Lebron, you're like, all Lebron and
- 17:49Speaker 5: Jordan's and I think Jordan is great, and if you
- 17:51Speaker 5: have Jordan's grist player, ever, I one hundred percent there
- 17:54Speaker 5: is no way on God's green Earth you don't have
- 17:56Speaker 5: that man Lebron.
- 17:57Speaker 2: James one A one B what I saw live.
- 18:01Speaker 4: He was on that court with seven other Hall of
- 18:03Speaker 4: Famers and was better at all of them at what
- 18:06Speaker 4: they were great at. Could you imagine that you could
- 18:09Speaker 4: have put Jesus Martin, Luther, King, Gandhi a Tarannosaurus rec
- 18:13Speaker 4: Center two one thousand out there.
- 18:15Speaker 2: We were to beat the ass too. There was no
- 18:18Speaker 2: way nobody was being us game. Say.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Lebron was locked in from the opening tip. He scored
- 18:24Speaker 3: nine points in the first quarter, just two fewers than
- 18:27Speaker 3: the Warriors scored as an entire team with eleven points.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Golden State had their lowest scoring quarter of the season.
- 18:34Speaker 3: The Warriors eventually found some rhythm, with Steph threes helping
- 18:37Speaker 3: cut Cleveland's lead to single digits midway through the second quarter.
- 18:40Speaker 1: The Cavaliers refused to lay down.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Cleveland closed the half on a thirteen to five run,
- 18:46Speaker 3: turning a competitive game into a sixteen point halftime lead.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Lebron never let his foot off the gas. He finished
- 18:53Speaker 3: with forty one points, eleven assists, eight rebound score seals,
- 18:57Speaker 3: and three blocks to lead the Cavs to a one
- 18:59Speaker 3: hundred and fifteen to one hundred and one victory. With
- 19:02Speaker 3: a game seven suddenly on the horizon, the Warriors looked rattled.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Steph throwing his mouthpiece was a sign that we were
- 19:13Speaker 4: playing the right We needed, you know what I'm saying,
- 19:18Speaker 4: just this much hope that what we were.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Doing was working, and they gave it to us. Yep, yep.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Look at Dante Jones yelling at him, a dude, yep,
- 19:28Speaker 4: but you have never you have never.
- 19:31Speaker 2: You know what we said right there, We broke them.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Now it may not have been true, but for us,
- 19:37Speaker 4: remember we're thinking any.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Little bit high five him. We told those guys.
- 19:43Speaker 4: We're like, hey, you better not f and high five
- 19:45Speaker 4: him again, or don't sit near our bench like we
- 19:47Speaker 4: are psycho. We're like, dude, when this happened, look at
- 19:51Speaker 4: our teams, Look at Tristan, Oh, look at our everyone
- 19:54Speaker 4: goes what you have never never seen him like that?
- 19:59Speaker 2: For us, we go, it's.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Working like what we're doing to him, the grabbing, the holding,
- 20:04Speaker 4: the scratching, flopping anything to get him off because of how.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Good he is.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I could only imagine what Kyrie was just licking his
- 20:13Speaker 4: chops because when Bogan got hurt, I think you could
- 20:17Speaker 4: see they went to a show.
- 20:19Speaker 2: And get back with Kyrie to keep him on Jr.
- 20:22Speaker 4: The minute that they stopped being switched and they went
- 20:25Speaker 4: to a show and get back.
- 20:27Speaker 2: We said, he don't want to guard Kyrie. We said
- 20:30Speaker 2: get his ass. So that's all we did.
- 20:33Speaker 4: We kept going at him and Adam and Adam so
- 20:37Speaker 4: fest A Zeale getting hurt, Dremond getting suspended, Kyrie or
- 20:41Speaker 4: Kyrie going at Steph like really going at him, and
- 20:45Speaker 4: us being like we need you to score cook him
- 20:47Speaker 4: like you're playing one on one.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Just their frustration with how we.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Started to grab and talk crab and make it a
- 20:56Speaker 4: dirty outside in the rain game.
- 21:00Speaker 2: These Jews are so good.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Obviously the game plan was one thing, but what you
- 21:03Speaker 4: see on the on the court is something else.
- 21:05Speaker 3: So now with everything on the line, series tied three
- 21:09Speaker 3: to three, it was time for Game seven. This was
- 21:13Speaker 3: a battle from the very beginning. Cleveland led by one
- 21:16Speaker 3: after the first quarter, Lebron leading the way with six points,
- 21:19Speaker 3: five rebounds, and three assists, while Kevin Love dominated the
- 21:22Speaker 3: rebounding battle with seven. With Stephen Clay struggling to find
- 21:25Speaker 3: their rhythm, Draymond Green stepped up in a massive way,
- 21:29Speaker 3: knocking down four to three pointers in the second quarter
- 21:32Speaker 3: to help give the Warriors a seven point halftime league.
- 21:35Speaker 3: The Cavaliers responded in the third, quickly erasing the deficit
- 21:38Speaker 3: and setting the stage for an epic finish. Neither team
- 21:41Speaker 3: could pull away. With under two minutes remaining, the score
- 21:44Speaker 3: was tied at eighty nine. Andre Igudala appeared to have
- 21:47Speaker 3: a clear path to the basket, but Lebron had other plans.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Oh, poor Andre, that's my college say. I love Andre, right.
- 21:59Speaker 4: I have never seen a human move that fast in
- 22:01Speaker 4: my life. I'm sitting there going because Andre is one
- 22:04Speaker 4: of the most athletic players I've ever and I played
- 22:06Speaker 4: with Vince Carter, I played with obviously Broun Jared Smith
- 22:10Speaker 4: all year long, well all the months that I was here.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Everybody would foul.
- 22:15Speaker 2: On this play. They foul that guy, and Brown would
- 22:18Speaker 2: yell bad attitude, bad face, what are you doing? I'm
- 22:21Speaker 2: right here.
- 22:22Speaker 4: So we'd watch it on film and he'd be like,
- 22:24Speaker 4: just swipe so that they have to do this.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Jr.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Went over the top, and so I'm like, I thought,
- 22:29Speaker 4: Andre was finna boop.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Next thing you know, I see.
- 22:32Speaker 4: This poop and I hear pooh, the loudest smack I
- 22:36Speaker 4: have ever heard on a basketball game because it's crowded. Pooh,
- 22:39Speaker 4: he blocks it. Watch poop right there and look at
- 22:42Speaker 4: everyone on a bench. Deli was the first one to go, Yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 4: Everyone on a bench goes.
- 22:47Speaker 2: What the f just happened?
- 22:48Speaker 4: And I have never seen a human go from one
- 22:52Speaker 4: hundred percent speed to a thousand percent speed like that quick.
- 22:57Speaker 4: I asked to be set to the back because I
- 23:00Speaker 4: felt I was gonna have a heart attack and I
- 23:01Speaker 4: took too much caffeine. That's one and two. Because you're
- 23:05Speaker 4: into this game so much, you're up by five points,
- 23:08Speaker 4: You're like, I'm king of the world.
- 23:10Speaker 2: You're down by five points, You're like, just it's over.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I'm done. We're gonna lose. And those swings are.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Big, big, Titanic level waves of emotions, and it was
- 23:23Speaker 4: so much for us sitting on a bench.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I can only imagine, like what was happening in the game.
- 23:28Speaker 4: But like when you're in that moment, the world which
- 23:31Speaker 4: is so big, I will never like, I cannot explain
- 23:36Speaker 4: what my brain thought. I had kids, had three kids
- 23:39Speaker 4: at the time. I want to think about no kids.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I want to think about no family. I was sleeping
- 23:43Speaker 4: in a separate room. My time was my time. And
- 23:46Speaker 4: they're like, well, maybe are you gonna play? I said,
- 23:48Speaker 4: don't ef a asking that question, because I got to
- 23:51Speaker 4: imagine that I'm gonna play forty eight minutes. If something
- 23:54Speaker 4: happens and I have to play, I have to be
- 23:57Speaker 4: ready to go from sitting still to a dead sprint
- 24:02Speaker 4: at the NBA Finals level with seven Hall of Famers
- 24:06Speaker 4: on the court, and so like we're on the bench.
- 24:08Speaker 4: If you watch us, we're Dante Jones, Mysel all those dudes.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Were yelling each play, get there. Do this about because
- 24:15Speaker 2: we had to stay.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Still tied at eighty nine with under a minute to go,
- 24:20Speaker 3: the Calves had possession, the ball was in Kyrie's hands.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Everything came down to this moment.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Irving and Curry one on. Irving puts it up.
- 24:31Speaker 4: That's God Kyrie, Irvy, Okay, so watch that.
- 24:35Speaker 2: So here's what we want. We want Steph to guard Kyrie.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Klay Thompson should have kept going with Steph. He should
- 24:45Speaker 4: have stayed on Kyrie. What we miss is one watch
- 24:48Speaker 4: Richard right here. When Steph says I'm guarding you, watch
- 24:52Speaker 4: Richard cuts.
- 24:53Speaker 2: He looks in the corner for Jr.
- 24:55Speaker 4: And now he cuts that most spates is in that corner,
- 24:58Speaker 4: and Kyrie has no fear and absolutely is the most
- 25:03Speaker 4: skilled player I have ever seen play basketball. Steph because
- 25:06Speaker 4: he wasn't attached to Jr. We had already tried to
- 25:09Speaker 4: set that screen before this three four times. But like see,
- 25:12Speaker 4: Steph should have got back, but.
- 25:14Speaker 2: He didn't want to look like he was leaving, so
- 25:16Speaker 2: he took the challenge.
- 25:17Speaker 4: And Kyrie made a huge shot. People say, oh, it's
- 25:19Speaker 4: a contested shot.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Not really, not really. Kyrie is one of those.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Dudes where imagine a dude that walks around with just
- 25:25Speaker 4: a pencil, pen, paintbrush, spray paint, every type of art
- 25:30Speaker 4: you can think of, and goes, oh, that's inspirational.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And I'm a painter. You a beautiful picture. Like most
- 25:36Speaker 2: players know a move and then a counter move.
- 25:40Speaker 4: He's fluid when it comes to basketball, right hand, left hand, left, dribble,
- 25:45Speaker 4: right dribble, shooting three pointers, attacking a rim, finishes. There's
- 25:50Speaker 4: no holes in his offensive game. Kevin the angels in
- 25:54Speaker 4: the outfields. We don't know how he moved in Big
- 25:57Speaker 4: O' eighteen's Kevin, I love you his boogoo. On defense,
- 26:01Speaker 4: a lot of the times we have never and still
- 26:04Speaker 4: to this day, have never seen him play defense this
- 26:07Speaker 4: good against that quality of a player.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Ever, yes see that was a bad He should have
- 26:12Speaker 2: showed and got back look at this.
- 26:15Speaker 4: And then he got should deny that. But that's neither
- 26:18Speaker 4: here not the air look doesn't give up to three.
- 26:20Speaker 4: No one wants to go to that left hair and
- 26:22Speaker 4: then that. But all of us were like, you know,
- 26:29Speaker 4: like watching somebody type rope over alligators. The boy had
- 26:32Speaker 4: twinkle toes. I have never seen him move his feet
- 26:35Speaker 4: like that. Ever, I'm pretty stupid and So we're up
- 26:38Speaker 4: by four and most fates shot the ball and the
- 26:41Speaker 4: ball dropped.
- 26:41Speaker 2: And I go get the ball. They were like, Chendy,
- 26:44Speaker 2: we're up four. I go four. And then the horror.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Went off and you see me go like this looking
- 26:49Speaker 4: for somebody to hug.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I was like, is it over? When the horror was done,
- 26:52Speaker 2: I was like, oh, oh my god, we did it.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I was like, we did it. And it took me.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Thirty six hours to really like come down from that
- 27:03Speaker 4: locked in. So we went party, go to Vegas, party,
- 27:08Speaker 4: come back home. I'm sitting at home and I'm watching
- 27:12Speaker 4: us get off the plane at my house and my
- 27:14Speaker 4: wife is like, how do you feel?
- 27:15Speaker 2: And I go, I think I'm in shock. Like also,
- 27:18Speaker 2: I haven't eaten in two days. And she was like, well,
- 27:21Speaker 2: anything you want, Champ, Yeah, call me Champ whatever.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I was like, dude, take me to a grimy little
- 27:26Speaker 4: Mexican joint. So going to a Mexican joint, pack standing ovation.
- 27:31Speaker 4: There's me with a big ass margarita. I remember I
- 27:33Speaker 4: got the super nachos and the carnal side of burrito crushed.
- 27:37Speaker 2: But I'm sitting there and I'm looking at the TV
- 27:39Speaker 2: going did we just do that, I go, holy crap,
- 27:45Speaker 2: We're the champs.
- 27:46Speaker 4: And then I started to crying, like where Richard was
- 27:49Speaker 4: bawling his eyes out at the thing.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Bron Kyrie, I was at the.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Mexican Place, just baby tears, just.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So good.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It was an experience that I hope anybody who plays
- 28:06Speaker 4: in the league does not take for granted. That team
- 28:08Speaker 4: we still ef with each other pretty hard. It turned
- 28:11Speaker 4: into more than a brotherhood, and so for us to
- 28:14Speaker 4: still ten years still be connected shows that it wasn't
- 28:19Speaker 4: fake and that you can win a possession.
- 28:22Speaker 2: You can win a game, you can win a championship.
- 28:24Speaker 4: If your team is locked in and has one goal
- 28:27Speaker 4: and has Kyrie and Lebron, it
- 28:28Speaker 2: Helps, it helps, it help
