- 0:00Speaker 1: Alright, welcome back.
- 0:00Speaker 2: This is our complete matchup guide for Ohio State and
- 0:04Speaker 2: Texas game of the year type stuff in Austin. We'll
- 0:07Speaker 2: see if that ends up playing out the way we
- 0:09Speaker 2: think it will. Last year was not necessarily the most
- 0:12Speaker 2: exciting just because of the play styles and the newness
- 0:15Speaker 2: of a lot of the offense, but this year we're
- 0:17Speaker 2: hoping for better, right Graham?
- 0:18Speaker 1: So this preview presented by.
- 0:20Speaker 2: PrizePix, we'll talk more about them in a little bit,
- 0:22Speaker 2: but what's the first thing that jumps off the page
- 0:24Speaker 2: at you when you look at Ohio State and Texas,
- 0:27Speaker 2: maybe outside of the billion skill position elite athletes that
- 0:31Speaker 2: are out there?
- 0:34Speaker 3: I think both these teams had trouble running the ball
- 0:38Speaker 3: at times last year. Texas, across the board, had trouble
- 0:43Speaker 3: running the ball, and Ohio State really had trouble running
- 0:45Speaker 3: the ball with anybody not named Bo Jackson. So that's
- 0:50Speaker 3: the thing that pops to me. One of the things
- 0:53Speaker 3: we've been tracking on our website outside of the stuff
- 0:57Speaker 3: we do for Georgia is we kind of have.
- 0:59Speaker 4: A trenches metric section now.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And I was just looking at that as you were
- 1:04Speaker 3: doing the intro from last week. You know, Texas against
- 1:10Speaker 3: the Cupcake, they played only 1.97 points. first contact yards
- 1:15Speaker 3: for an attempt. So I wish it was just a
- 1:16Speaker 3: measurement of, you know, how many, which is about 27th
- 1:19Speaker 3: in the country, which is not terrible. 27th among power
- 1:22Speaker 3: five teams. So kind of middle of the road, but
- 1:26Speaker 3: I don't know that you would think that if you
- 1:28Speaker 3: just looked at.
- 1:28Speaker 4: The score line of their game, right.
- 1:31Speaker 3: And then kind of looking over at Ohio state, not
- 1:36Speaker 3: super lovely on the pressure rates given up versus Ohio.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Like, in comparison to what you would expect them to
- 1:44Speaker 3: give up against Ohio. So that's really the starting point
- 1:48Speaker 3: for me. I think in this game is, is who's
- 1:49Speaker 3: going to get something of a push and, and some
- 1:53Speaker 3: time for their quarterback off their offensive line.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I think both offensive lines have questions. Ohio state certainly
- 2:00Speaker 2: didn't finish the year very strong on the offensive line.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They've had to move.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I mean, I spoke with somebody today at Ohio state,
- 2:06Speaker 2: they didn't move a tackle around. They've, I think they
- 2:08Speaker 2: have short up the right side, which is a little
- 2:10Speaker 2: bit better. Um, Texas, kind of the same thing. They
- 2:14Speaker 2: got some talent back. They got a guy out of
- 2:16Speaker 2: the pool they really like. They got a guy that
- 2:18Speaker 2: could have gone to the NFL back that they really like.
- 2:21Speaker 2: They've suffered some hang-ups, some injuries. They've had questions there.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And again, when you look at the run games of
- 2:29Speaker 2: both these teams, as good as these skill positions are
- 2:33Speaker 2: out wide, we understand what wins big-time games, right? Like,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think both these teams would prefer to establish the
- 2:41Speaker 2: run and play defense, right?
- 2:42Speaker 1: I like to be very, very cliche.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And I do think that whichever team can not be
- 2:50Speaker 2: one dimensional, like whichever team doesn't have to rely solely
- 2:53Speaker 2: on arch or solely on saying is probably going to
- 2:56Speaker 2: be the team that wins. Like, I think it's that straightforward.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I know that's really cliche. And how about you in
- 3:00Speaker 1: the game of the trenches? Good, good analysis there.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But I do think not being one-dimensional against two really
- 3:06Speaker 2: good secondaries and against two really good pass rushes. That's
- 3:09Speaker 2: the other thing, too, is both these offensive lines have
- 3:11Speaker 2: some questions. They have a lot of questions about Texas'
- 3:15Speaker 2: defensive front. They have a lot of questions about Ohio
- 3:17Speaker 2: State's defensive front. And so the team that cannot be one-dimensional,
- 3:21Speaker 2: to me, feels like they've got a huge leg.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Up in this.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree. And I would say within.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Let's just go down a hypothetical path where both teams
- 3:33Speaker 3: become one-dimensional.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I think that that really favors.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Texas over Ohio State in that scenario. I don't like
- 3:43Speaker 3: what Julian Zane did under pressure against Miami last year.
- 3:48Speaker 3: It's not just that he didn't make hero throws on
- 3:52Speaker 3: the run. I think Zane is a really good quarterback.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I think he's a very high-floor type of quarterback. But
- 3:59Speaker 3: I think he is at his best when he can
- 4:01Speaker 3: sit in the pocket, make quick passes, deliver, kind of
- 4:04Speaker 3: run some RPO-type stuff.
- 4:07Speaker 4: And then off of that.
- 4:08Speaker 3: You know, you get your deep shot schemed up to
- 4:11Speaker 3: Jeremiah or whoever else of their former five-star wide receivers
- 4:16Speaker 3: they like to match up on in that particular moment
- 4:19Speaker 3: in time. I don't think that he is a guy
- 4:21Speaker 3: who can make plays off script and just, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 3: sound– like too hot take a share, but I just,
- 4:29Speaker 3: I don't think he's got the arm strength to be
- 4:31Speaker 3: making throws much past the line of scrimmage on the run.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Like if, if you're talking dump offs to the tight
- 4:38Speaker 3: ends or something while he's under some duress, sure. But
- 4:40Speaker 3: like once he breaks container that pocket, especially if Texas
- 4:45Speaker 3: is able to get Colin Simmons off the left edge
- 4:47Speaker 3: of their own defensive line and for saying.
- 4:50Speaker 4: To his left, like it's, it's dead at that point,
- 4:53Speaker 4: the play is dead. The play is over.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And so it's, The right tackle for Ohio State is
- 4:58Speaker 3: maybe the most important player on the field in this.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Game because we saw that offense just become.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Pretty anemic against Miami last year under similar scenarios with
- 5:07Speaker 3: those pass rushers that they had in that game.
- 5:09Speaker 2: What are your thoughts on the other quarterback? There's so
- 5:13Speaker 2: much hype. There's so much excitement around his name. There's
- 5:16Speaker 2: so much hate that comes with that, too. He seems
- 5:20Speaker 2: to do weird things in games, like the turnover against
- 5:22Speaker 2: Texas State really bad. and I spoke with Jerry Hamilton
- 5:26Speaker 2: of On Texas Football earlier today, and just, yeah, sometimes
- 5:30Speaker 2: just makes like, whereas like, both these quarterbacks to me
- 5:33Speaker 2: have limitations, and you mentioned Sayans a little bit.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Arches, certainly more athletic, certainly going.
- 5:40Speaker 2: To use his athleticism at times, and you're going to
- 5:42Speaker 2: be able to rely on that some as Texas. But
- 5:44Speaker 2: he's also, it feels like, certainly in some big games,
- 5:48Speaker 2: some small games, really a whole of them, I guess
- 5:50Speaker 2: he did it last week too, he's just going to
- 5:51Speaker 2: do one or two things that just make you go, dude,
- 5:54Speaker 2: what the heck did you see there to do that?
- 5:57Speaker 2: And like, so both these core, like this isn't like a,
- 5:59Speaker 2: a Mensa versus car situation. When we get to week 11,
- 6:02Speaker 2: then we can just talk about like the most elite
- 6:04Speaker 2: of the most elite. This is like both these quarterbacks
- 6:07Speaker 2: do have some limitations. And I think that's probably the,
- 6:10Speaker 2: if you're, if you're, you know, if we're critiquing saying
- 6:12Speaker 2: for what he's got, like Archer's questions are like, okay, well,
- 6:15Speaker 2: when you have that detrimental mistake, like don't let it
- 6:18Speaker 2: go the other way for six from like, you know, uh,
- 6:23Speaker 2: Sanchez or like, you know, like don't let it be
- 6:25Speaker 2: to that guy, you know.
- 6:28Speaker 4: For sure.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And, you know, I think with both these guys, they,
- 6:35Speaker 3: I don't know if it's because of things that happened
- 6:37Speaker 3: last year or just structure of offense or, or what,
- 6:41Speaker 3: but they, they both strike me as guys who want
- 6:43Speaker 3: to get the ball out of their hands. And that's,
- 6:46Speaker 3: that's normal often, I think for like, highly recruited heralded
- 6:51Speaker 3: quarterbacks at big time programs like Texas and Ohio state,
- 6:55Speaker 3: like Carson Beck, even, you know, later in his career
- 6:59Speaker 3: when he became a starter at Georgia in 2023, there
- 7:02Speaker 3: was a long period of time where he would just
- 7:04Speaker 3: sort of like rush through his reads in a lot
- 7:07Speaker 3: of big games. And it's not that he was turning
- 7:10Speaker 3: the ball over necessarily, but it's just like, he was
- 7:12Speaker 3: kind of a, what's the expression stepping over dollars to
- 7:15Speaker 3: pick up pennies, right? Like, like getting the ball out
- 7:18Speaker 3: really quick when things were, were popping open downfield.
- 7:21Speaker 4: And I think that.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Both these guys kind of have some of that in them. Arch,
- 7:28Speaker 3: I have seen do like at that Georgia game last
- 7:32Speaker 3: year that I covered from the press box, I was
- 7:34Speaker 3: really impressed with some of the throws that he was
- 7:36Speaker 3: able to make at times in that game, just when
- 7:39Speaker 3: the arm talent comes together.
- 7:41Speaker 4: And I do think that like.
- 7:42Speaker 3: The arch we saw late in the season last year
- 7:43Speaker 3: was better than I don't know that I think he
- 7:46Speaker 3: was as good as some other people have sort of
- 7:49Speaker 3: made him out to be throughout this off season. So
- 7:53Speaker 3: when it comes to these guys in this game, it's like,
- 7:57Speaker 3: who can kind of live in that space between trigger
- 8:01Speaker 3: happy and gun shy.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And I think that I, I actually think within that framework,
- 8:08Speaker 3: you know, saying might be a little bit better suited.
- 8:12Speaker 4: To do that just because.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Like, I mean, you're talking Cam Coleman, Jeremiah Smith, a
- 8:18Speaker 3: lot of good wide receivers on the field in this game.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But I do think that Ohio State's offense and Ohio
- 8:24Speaker 3: State's receiver weapons maybe flow a little bit better towards
- 8:32Speaker 3: some of those kind of early quick pass type stuff.
- 8:34Speaker 4: And I just.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Don't know with like Wingo and Cam Coleman and some
- 8:40Speaker 3: of the action in Texas' offense. I could eat my
- 8:43Speaker 3: words if they get Smothers involved in the pass game
- 8:45Speaker 3: out of the backfield at the running back position. But
- 8:49Speaker 3: I think that Texas' offense– I'm very interested to see, like,
- 8:53Speaker 3: can they sustain drives in this game or does it
- 8:55Speaker 3: turn into the offense is, like, let's try and hit
- 8:59Speaker 3: a big play to Cam or Wingo downfield. Or maybe
- 9:02Speaker 3: there's a reverse or an end around called up for
- 9:05Speaker 3: Wingo at some point in each half.
- 9:08Speaker 4: And, like, beyond that.
- 9:10Speaker 3: What is sustainability look like? Just cause I, I don't
- 9:13Speaker 3: trust them to run the football in this game.
- 9:15Speaker 4: I really don't. So that's mine.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I don't know if that answers your question, but like, I,
- 9:22Speaker 3: I do think that both these guys are.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Sort of.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Volatile enough to where it doesn't feel super predictable. Like
- 9:31Speaker 3: which one's going to make that crippling error. I just
- 9:34Speaker 3: think if, if both play safe, Ohio state probably has
- 9:37Speaker 3: a better chance to win than Texas.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I'll get right back to the video, but first I
- 9:40Speaker 2: want to give some love to our friends over at PrizePix.
- 9:43Speaker 2: There's a ton on the PrizePix app right now that
- 9:45Speaker 2: you can go get. There was a free play tonight
- 9:47Speaker 2: here on Wednesday night for Sam Darnold. There have been
- 9:50Speaker 2: free plays for all this NFL opening weekend stuff that
- 9:53Speaker 2: you can find. And then, of course, why we're here,
- 9:55Speaker 2: college football. Whether you're looking for Jeremiah Smith or Arch
- 9:58Speaker 2: Manning or you're looking for... Satanga at Oklahoma or you're
- 10:01Speaker 2: looking for something with Michigan because you want to take
- 10:03Speaker 2: a less, whatever you're looking for, they've got you taken
- 10:05Speaker 2: care of. We showed a lot of love to Faison
- 10:07Speaker 2: Brandon tonight. You can go look at his lines against
- 10:09Speaker 2: Georgia Tech. Go check out the more or less options
- 10:12Speaker 2: that you've got over on the Price Picks app.
- 10:14Speaker 1: All new users there.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Who play $ 5 and win that first lineup using code H,
- 10:18Speaker 2: you may get $ 150 in lineups instantly. We appreciate Bryce
- 10:21Speaker 2: Picks for their support. Go check them out. From a
- 10:25Speaker 2: coaching standpoint, do you think there's anything to... Texas has
- 10:32Speaker 2: won some big games, right?
- 10:34Speaker 1: But a lot of those games, they were expected to win.
- 10:38Speaker 2: The A & M game was a big game last year,
- 10:40Speaker 2: but I think we all kind of thought A &
- 10:42Speaker 2: M was... I don't want to call them a fraud,
- 10:45Speaker 2: but I will say they had fraud tendencies. Like, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 2: they won a couple of playoff games. They were huge
- 10:51Speaker 2: favorites and probably didn't win them convincingly enough. Played Ohio
- 10:56Speaker 2: State well enough then. They've lost to Georgia 3 Street. Like,
- 11:00Speaker 2: are there, are, like, just thoughts around the mindset of, like,
- 11:09Speaker 2: Ryan Day, who does typically go out and win big
- 11:12Speaker 2: games like this, versus Steve Sarkeesian.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Also, I guess, the coordinator aspects of it.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You have had a first-hand look of Champ, and now
- 11:21Speaker 2: he's at Texas. Is there a matchup where Matt Patricia
- 11:28Speaker 2: or Muschamp, I know it's early in his tenure there,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but is there a coaching edge here?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Because they're all really good.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Everybody's ranking up all these guys in their top ten.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But what's your thoughts around that?
- 11:41Speaker 3: I do think there's a coaching edge a little bit
- 11:45Speaker 3: that favors a day in this matchup. Have we seen–
- 11:53Speaker 3: what is Sark's best win as a head coach?
- 11:56Speaker 4: I think that's the fair question.
- 11:57Speaker 1: In Tuscaloosa.
- 11:59Speaker 3: In Tuscaloosa against an Alabama team that got rid of
- 12:05Speaker 3: its defensive play caller midseason for the first time in
- 12:08Speaker 3: the history of Saban's dynastic career after that game. And then,
- 12:14Speaker 3: you know, went on and did its thing like with
- 12:17Speaker 3: a really young secondary.
- 12:18Speaker 4: So yeah, great.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I just, I don't like take the, take the in-game
- 12:29Speaker 3: decision stuff off the table. I question Texas's culture straight up. Honestly,
- 12:38Speaker 3: like in moments like this, I think that, there is
- 12:41Speaker 3: a little bit to this point has been a bit
- 12:44Speaker 3: of a mercenary style kind of vibe around them and
- 12:48Speaker 3: that that's great when things are going well, but what
- 12:52Speaker 3: if you're down by seven in the fourth quarter and
- 12:55Speaker 3: you've had some mistakes to that point?
- 12:57Speaker 4: Do they stick together?
- 12:58Speaker 3: Muschamp should theoretically be an anecdote to some of that
- 13:03Speaker 3: kind of stuff just because his style is tenacious and
- 13:06Speaker 3: hard and all those things, but I don't know that
- 13:09Speaker 3: it is.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Yet.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I think that the way that roster has been constructed,
- 13:15Speaker 3: I'll just call it out. I think they use NIL
- 13:18Speaker 3: almost like a marketing expense and that they often will
- 13:23Speaker 3: overpay for recruits if it is a recruiting battle that
- 13:27Speaker 3: has a high enough profile as to create clips off
- 13:32Speaker 3: of it where people are going to say, look at
- 13:33Speaker 3: all the momentum that Steve.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Sarkeesian and Texas have on the recruiting trail. And that's great.
- 13:38Speaker 4: in the moment, but I've come to think of the
- 13:40Speaker 4: whole NIL.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Era as like, you know what the actual easiest thing
- 13:43Speaker 3: to do is, is to just say yes and give
- 13:47Speaker 3: these kids as much money as it takes to get
- 13:49Speaker 3: them on campus. But then once you get them there,
- 13:52Speaker 3: can you deal with the fallout of that?
- 13:53Speaker 4: Can you deal with all the.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Transfers that leave because they're pissed off that they produced,
- 13:59Speaker 3: they started, they played through a torn labrum in their
- 14:02Speaker 3: shoulder or whatever it was. And then the kid that
- 14:05Speaker 3: just came in with the five stars next to his name,
- 14:07Speaker 3: who's fat and lazy and 15 pounds overweight is getting paid,
- 14:12Speaker 3: you know, four times what they are. And Texas hasn't
- 14:15Speaker 3: been able to figure out how to deal with those
- 14:17Speaker 3: two things yet. So part of this matchup is that,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and part of this to me is I do wonder
- 14:25Speaker 3: about like, we talk all the time in college football
- 14:29Speaker 3: about what teams get out of the transfer portal.
- 14:31Speaker 4: We don't talk enough about what they lost.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Texas is, put a lot of water in the top
- 14:36Speaker 3: of the cup, but they had a lot of water
- 14:37Speaker 3: drip out of the bottom.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And so now you're in this spot where you're asking
- 14:42Speaker 3: arch to go into this really big game.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Fortunate for him.
- 14:45Speaker 3: It's an, it's at home, but they're going into this
- 14:47Speaker 3: game with no Parker Livingstone. None of these guys that
- 14:52Speaker 3: he's played with and sort of had gone through the,
- 14:56Speaker 3: the game at Georgia last year, the game in Columbus
- 14:59Speaker 3: last year. And I do think that's a disadvantage for them.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I like, I, I think it helps their home, like
- 15:05Speaker 3: I said, but I do think that, you know, Ohio
- 15:07Speaker 3: State is kind of here and not to say they
- 15:11Speaker 3: don't use the portal and all that because they do,
- 15:13Speaker 3: but there's a decent amount of continuity in that group
- 15:17Speaker 3: as you go into this game. And they've sort of
- 15:20Speaker 3: been through the battles before and they don't have to
- 15:22Speaker 3: like relearn how everybody's going to respond when things get
- 15:26Speaker 3: really tight. And I don't know that Sark is the
- 15:30Speaker 3: guy that I trust to have his team ready for
- 15:34Speaker 3: this situation in week two of the season. I think
- 15:37Speaker 3: that if Texas goes on to do big things in 2026,
- 15:41Speaker 3: which they very well may do, that it might end
- 15:44Speaker 3: up being because they got hot late, not because they
- 15:47Speaker 3: looked dominant early and just stayed that way wire to wire.
- 15:52Speaker 2: With so many weapons on both offenses, you talk about
- 15:56Speaker 2: Jeremiah and Wingo and Cam and Smothers and Bo, like.
- 16:00Speaker 1: There's a ton of talent.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And as much as we're nitpicking the quarterbacks, two of
- 16:03Speaker 2: the better quarterbacks in our sport, too.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Sure.
- 16:05Speaker 1: They're playing at a good level. We are certainly... We're
- 16:09Speaker 1: going to get comments on both sides. You hate my guy.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And it's like, all right, now, come on. Is there
- 16:16Speaker 2: a secondary... Nobody matches up.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Well with receivers like are going to be on the
- 16:23Speaker 1: field this week.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But is there a secondary that does have an advantage
- 16:27Speaker 2: in this game that you look at and you say, like, okay...
- 16:30Speaker 2: you could do better at slowing down the other team's
- 16:34Speaker 2: elite wide receivers or not really?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Not, I mean, I, I think that, you know, not
- 16:43Speaker 3: to get too cliche. I, I do think that like,
- 16:47Speaker 3: this is one of those situations where it, it feels
- 16:53Speaker 3: fair to me to, to really talk about the defense
- 16:57Speaker 3: as a unit. Because the way that these secondaries are
- 17:00Speaker 3: going to survive in this game against these receivers is
- 17:05Speaker 3: because their front sevens are forcing these quarterbacks to get
- 17:08Speaker 3: the ball out faster. And I do think that is
- 17:14Speaker 3: where I favor Texas. I do like Texas' front seven
- 17:19Speaker 3: talent more than I like Ohio State's front seven talent
- 17:24Speaker 3: from what I've seen to this point, which is a
- 17:26Speaker 3: very small sample size. I know they recruit well there. Like,
- 17:30Speaker 3: obviously I just, I think Texas sort of has, that
- 17:33Speaker 3: is one place where they not at the linebacker position, but,
- 17:36Speaker 3: but in terms of the pass rush.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Positions, they've had some decent continuity there. And I think
- 17:43Speaker 4: they've got.
- 17:43Speaker 3: A shot, you know, can justice Terry give them a
- 17:46Speaker 3: big game on Saturday, right? Like a five-star defensive tackle
- 17:51Speaker 3: who is coming into a second season that they paid
- 17:54Speaker 3: a lot of money to retain. If you can, couple
- 17:58Speaker 3: him with hero Kanu and Colin Simmons, then you've got
- 18:03Speaker 3: a shot to create that dynamic. We were just talking
- 18:05Speaker 3: about where Julian saying is uncomfortable and he's not able
- 18:09Speaker 3: to sit in the pocket and let those vertical routes
- 18:11Speaker 3: and double moves and things develop. And, you know, that
- 18:14Speaker 3: to me feels like the best path for either one
- 18:18Speaker 3: of these defenses to be kind of dominant in this game.
- 18:21Speaker 4: But, but, you know, I mean, the other.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Thing about college football in particular, any football is, uh,
- 18:28Speaker 3: Predictability is huge for a defense, right? And so the
- 18:33Speaker 3: thing we opened this about talking about, can either of
- 18:37Speaker 3: these teams really sustain a run game?
- 18:40Speaker 4: That's the bailout. And then the flip side.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Of that is, you know, I'm very curious how Day
- 18:48Speaker 3: does back in, like, this is a really unique situation
- 18:50Speaker 3: with both head coaches being play callers for this game.
- 18:53Speaker 3: But you look at Sark, His history as a head
- 18:59Speaker 3: coach or as a play caller, I should say, and
- 19:03Speaker 3: a head coach is that if they get behind in
- 19:05Speaker 3: a game, like he will abandon the run pretty quickly.
- 19:09Speaker 3: And I don't know how, you know, I don't know
- 19:12Speaker 3: what they learned in his time away or from calling
- 19:15Speaker 3: plays or watching Chip Kelly, you know, all of that.
- 19:18Speaker 3: But it'll be very interesting to see sort of how
- 19:25Speaker 3: this equation shakes out. Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Do, with all the things we've considered, with all the
- 19:31Speaker 2: things we've talked about, to me, I don't know. I mean,
- 19:36Speaker 2: last year, I think when this game happened, I think
- 19:37Speaker 2: I just said, like, man, I'll take the team that's
- 19:40Speaker 2: at home. I don't know that I quite have that
- 19:44Speaker 2: same feeling in this, and I'm probably just giving Ohio
- 19:49Speaker 2: State a little bit too much of the benefit of
- 19:51Speaker 2: the doubt because it feels like when Ohio State goes
- 19:53Speaker 2: up in these big matchups, they just find a way
- 19:55Speaker 2: to do it. And like I said, Sark has won
- 19:58Speaker 2: some big games. I don't know that they've won a
- 20:02Speaker 2: game like this.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Like, I just don't.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And so I'm probably being blinded by that because what
- 20:07Speaker 2: has happened in the past has.
- 20:09Speaker 1: No impact on this. Like, you know, before the people
- 20:11Speaker 1: jump in, well, nothing matters about them. Yeah, I get that.
- 20:14Speaker 2: But there is a little bit of benefit of the
- 20:15Speaker 2: doubt that I think you give Ohio State because of
- 20:19Speaker 2: what you've consistently seen them do under Ryan Day. I
- 20:23Speaker 2: think I would lean Ohio State just very slightly here,
- 20:26Speaker 2: like three or less. But I don't know that I
- 20:31Speaker 2: have a great feel for it. I think this game
- 20:33Speaker 2: really comes down to, and it's not very good analytics.
- 20:35Speaker 2: That's why you're on here for that side, and I'm
- 20:37Speaker 2: on here for the vibes. But I think this is
- 20:40Speaker 2: a really even matchup in a lot of areas, and
- 20:42Speaker 2: this game is really going to come down to how
- 20:45Speaker 2: the ball bounces at times. I could very easily see
- 20:47Speaker 2: this being a very even game where one team gets
- 20:51Speaker 2: a bad break, makes a good break, whatever it ends
- 20:53Speaker 2: up being, and.
- 20:53Speaker 1: That's what decides it.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I was telling somebody earlier, I could see this being
- 20:57Speaker 2: like Louisville Ole Miss where it's slow for a half,
- 20:59Speaker 2: and then both teams just answer, answer, answer, answer, answer,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and then somebody's going to have the ball last and
- 21:05Speaker 2: either score or blow it. That's kind of how I
- 21:08Speaker 2: see the game playing out. Now, it'll probably just be
- 21:11Speaker 2: a 17-10 game like last year just to make me
- 21:13Speaker 2: really wrong about this. And so how do you even
- 21:16Speaker 2: predict that? So anyway, I don't even know how to
- 21:19Speaker 2: make a pick here. I guess I would lean slightly
- 21:22Speaker 2: Ohio State, but do you have a feel on what
- 21:25Speaker 2: ends up happening?
- 21:26Speaker 3: I mean, I... I struggle with everything we were just
- 21:33Speaker 3: talking about, kind of how to, how to handicap all
- 21:37Speaker 3: the factors of this game with very few priors. Like
- 21:41Speaker 3: I also am very curious, just, you know, how does
- 21:45Speaker 3: Texas handle this spot at home as a slight favorite after,
- 21:52Speaker 3: you know, I mean like this is kind of, to me,
- 21:55Speaker 3: this feels like it might be like their Penn state
- 21:57Speaker 3: Oregon game of last year. And if things don't go
- 22:01Speaker 3: well for them, they could go really, really poorly very
- 22:06Speaker 3: quickly because of all that's been kind of loaded up
- 22:09Speaker 3: and built towards with this season.
- 22:13Speaker 4: I agree with what you're saying.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Like, this could be a game where, especially this early
- 22:17Speaker 3: in the season, it's like somebody doesn't get out of
- 22:20Speaker 3: the way of a punt that bounces in a weird
- 22:22Speaker 3: way and it creates a big turnover. And, you know,
- 22:26Speaker 3: those three points that.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Come off of it are what matters. I.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Even with the wide receivers, I think it's interesting because
- 22:37Speaker 3: people talk about Day and Sark as if they're these
- 22:42Speaker 3: offensive guru type guys. They have offensive reputations and they
- 22:46Speaker 3: are great offensive coaches with a lot of brilliant offensive ideas.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Over the years.
- 22:51Speaker 3: But if you look at their big game track records,
- 22:55Speaker 3: they're pretty conservative until they can't be anymore. And so
- 22:58Speaker 3: if like I'm talking about how do I want to
- 23:01Speaker 3: play this from a gambling standpoint? I'm, I'm looking at
- 23:07Speaker 3: that over under, and I'm, I'm, I'm getting under that
- 23:11Speaker 3: number of 49 and a half probably. Cause I could
- 23:13Speaker 3: see this game being 10, three or, you know, something
- 23:18Speaker 3: like that at halftime. And even if it does spark
- 23:21Speaker 3: out and go crazy, I'll probably bet the first half
- 23:23Speaker 3: under in this game, quite frankly, like, That's where I'll be.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I'm not even sure talking to you right now, what
- 23:28Speaker 3: exactly the number is, but, but I'm sure I'll like it.
- 23:31Speaker 3: So put me down for that. But yeah, I will,
- 23:35Speaker 3: you know, Ohio state, I just got it. I got
- 23:37Speaker 3: to see it from Texas until I don't. And Hey,
- 23:39Speaker 3: that's something that people said about Kirby Spartan Georgia at
- 23:41Speaker 3: one point and they figured it out. Right. So it's like,
- 23:44Speaker 3: I'm not saying it can't happen, but we have seen
- 23:49Speaker 3: this particular group of Ohio state players and this particular
- 23:53Speaker 3: group of Ohio state coaches. do it in this spot
- 23:57Speaker 3: more than we've seen their counterparts from, from Austin. So I'm, I'm,
- 24:03Speaker 3: I'm leaning Ohio state. And I, I don't know why,
- 24:08Speaker 3: but I just sort of have a weird feeling that
- 24:10Speaker 3: this thing could, could, could come down and, and, and
- 24:14Speaker 3: fall in a very painful way for Texas. I don't,
- 24:17Speaker 3: I don't know why I just kind of do.
