Speaker 3: the Taylor. All right, So coming up on the show
• 2:03
Speaker 3: is when we're loaded up. We're already all of us
• 2:06
Speaker 3: are wondering and eagerly anticipating what a Jim Justice Senate
• 2:09
Speaker 3: seat is going to look like. He was elected last week,
• 2:11
Speaker 3: of course, to the seat formerly occupied by Senator Joe Manchin.
• 2:14
Speaker 3: An author by the name of Sarah O'Connor has written
• 2:18
Speaker 3: a book about Baby Dog's trip to Washington. It's children's book,
• 2:22
Speaker 3: and we're going to talk to her later on in
• 2:24
Speaker 3: the show. Plus Brad mclhanny's going to join us. We're already,
• 2:28
Speaker 3: I guess, jockeying for positions to see who the next
• 2:30
Speaker 3: Senate president is going to be. We're going to weigh
• 2:33
Speaker 3: and get to Brad's way in on that coming up.
• 2:35
Speaker 3: And I told him after yesterday he would have the
• 2:38
Speaker 3: day off, but unfortunately there have been more details that
• 2:41
Speaker 3: have come forth in the playoff controversy. So Uncle Fred,
• 2:45
Speaker 3: we told Fred Persinger I was not going to bring
• 2:47
Speaker 3: him in the day. But guess what, Fred Persinger is
• 2:49
Speaker 3: going to be on the show today because we've got
• 2:50
Speaker 3: more developments in the last twelve hours in the playoff
• 2:53
Speaker 3: controversy that is sports in West Virginia right now. So
• 2:55
Speaker 3: we're bringing Fred to talk about that. As always your

• 3:08
Speaker 3: whole city of Charleston practically will be lit up as
• 3:11
Speaker 3: the Selango Law Firm presents the Light the Night. Starting
• 3:14
Speaker 3: tomorrow night and going through the holiday season, we have
• 3:16
Speaker 3: with us Andy Shay of the Charleston Dirty Birds. Good morning, sir,
• 3:19
Speaker 3: how you do Dave? Welcome to the New Digs your
• 3:21
Speaker 3: first appearance here. Yeah, man, appreciate it. And also Ben Selango,
• 3:25
Speaker 3: who's been been here before. How are you kind of going?
• 3:27
  Speaker 5: Age?
• 3:28
Speaker 3: I love it? This is nice. Of course it is
• 3:30
Speaker 3: the Selango Lawlfe the Night. That's why mister County Commissioner
• 3:34
Speaker 3: and Attorney Ben Selango is with us. Welcome h to,
• 3:38
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show. Guys, Bigger, better, stronger, faster this
• 3:41
  Speaker 3: year Andy.
• 3:41
Speaker 6: It is man all around. I mean, it looks absolutely amazing.
• 3:45
Speaker 6: It's been you know, I mean it is a true
• 3:48
Speaker 6: labor of love. I mean we've been talking about it,
• 3:50
Speaker 6: Ben and I have been talking about our staff has
• 3:51
Speaker 6: been talking about it what this year would look like
• 3:53
Speaker 6: about three weeks into last year's event, and you know,
• 3:56
Speaker 6: I mean seeing a lot of the things come to life,
• 3:59
Speaker 6: seeing the the five hundred thousand extra lights, the you know,
• 4:03
Speaker 6: pretty much tripling if not quadrupling, the amount of activity, activities,
• 4:08
Speaker 6: rides inflatables and everything.
• 4:10
Speaker 3: And then it still looks more open. I mean, and
• 4:12
Speaker 3: that's what you know.
• 4:13
Speaker 6: I kind of challenged everyone on our staff and our
• 4:16
Speaker 6: crew to look at it like a piece of real
• 4:18
Speaker 6: estate and how can you make it work the best?
• 4:20
Speaker 6: And I mean I think it looks absolutely terrific.
• 4:23
Speaker 3: It does indeed, and for a commissioner Slango or I
• 4:27
Speaker 3: guess you're representing the Slango Law Firm today, I guess
• 4:29
Speaker 3: that's okay. But but I do want to take it
• 4:32
Speaker 3: from a you know, you guys on the county commission
• 4:35
Speaker 3: are always looking at bringing as we say, heads in
• 4:37
Speaker 3: beds and people to Knoll County, whether it exists or
• 4:39
Speaker 3: whether it's for God or whatever, because that helps out
• 4:41
Speaker 3: the county overall. Talk about the economic driver that this
• 4:45
Speaker 3: could be. I mean, what we know what it was
• 4:47
Speaker 3: last year and bigger better, It's going to be bigger
• 4:49
  Speaker 3: and better.
• 4:49
Speaker 7: It'll be bigger this year, you know last year, and
• 4:51
Speaker 7: you know forward thinking, you know Andy Shehay coming up
• 4:55
Speaker 7: with this idea. I was sitting in the stands drinking
• 4:57
Speaker 7: a beer and eating a hot dog, and he approached
• 4:59
Speaker 7: me and he said, what do you think think? And
• 5:00
Speaker 7: I said, I am absolutely in and not just in
• 5:03
Speaker 7: for one year. I want a multi year, dear, because
• 5:04
Speaker 7: I knew it was going to blow up. Now, I
• 5:05
Speaker 7: did not realize it was going to be as big
• 5:07
Speaker 7: as it was, quite frankly, and I don't.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: Know if Andy did either. It just kind of happened that way.
• 5:12
Speaker 7: But you know, the city of Charleston turf that field
• 5:15
Speaker 7: Mayor Goodwin to make sure that it could be used
• 5:17
Speaker 7: year round, which was key. Otherwise it would be over
• 5:20
Speaker 7: there and to be grass and everything we need dorm it.
• 5:22
Speaker 7: But what we have now is you've got an economic hub.
• 5:25
Speaker 7: Over one hundred thousand people came through last year from
• 5:27
Speaker 7: over forty different states.
• 5:29
  Speaker 3: You know.
• 5:29
Speaker 7: The goal this year is to hit all fifty. I
• 5:31
Speaker 7: want people from Alaska and Hawaii to come into. What
• 5:34
Speaker 7: you're going to see is people coming in for the
• 5:35
Speaker 7: holidays to visit family, you know, Thanksgiving, Christmas and they're
• 5:38
Speaker 7: going to go there. I probably went there and this
• 5:41
Speaker 7: is no exaggeration. I probably went twenty times last year,
• 5:44
Speaker 7: and last night I went for the first time just
• 5:46
Speaker 7: to kind of preview, and it looks different. Everything is new.
• 5:50
Speaker 7: There are things that you're going to see that that
• 5:51
Speaker 7: weren't there last year. So the key get your tickets online. Yeah,
• 5:56
Speaker 7: so you don't want to you don't want to wait
• 5:57
Speaker 7: in line, or you want to get them. You want
• 5:58
Speaker 7: to get them before you get there. So that's a
• 6:00
  Speaker 7: Dblightthnight dot com.
• 6:02
  Speaker 8: You got it.
• 6:03
Speaker 3: That is that is critical.
• 6:04
Speaker 7: So you can bypass the line, come right in, spend
• 6:07
Speaker 7: that time in and join the lights instead of waiting.
• 6:09
Speaker 7: So you know, any and them really hit it out
• 6:11
Speaker 7: the park. This year pun completely intact, and I think
• 6:15
Speaker 7: when people come in again for the first time, they're
• 6:18
Speaker 7: going to be as excited as I was last night.
• 6:20
Speaker 3: I mean it was it was incredible last year and
• 6:23
Speaker 3: everybody talked about it, you know. And again when you start,
• 6:27
Speaker 3: when you undergo a project like that, uh, you don't
• 6:30
Speaker 3: know what you don't know, you know, and so you
• 6:32
Speaker 3: get in and said this worked, this didn't you know?
• 6:33
Speaker 3: This worked? But you've tripled what worked last year. There
• 6:36
Speaker 3: are very few things that didn't work last year, Eddie.
• 6:38
Speaker 3: But but but what did really did? And uh, and
• 6:41
Speaker 3: you've tripled You've quadrupled it in many cases. I know,
• 6:43
Speaker 3: I was talking to a Jay Silverman back over the
• 6:45
Speaker 3: summer and I said, you're trying to hang a light set.
• 6:47
Speaker 3: He said, yeah, yeah, we have. Yeah, I mean pretty much.
• 6:50
  Speaker 6: I mean, you know, it's it's certainly a twelve month
• 6:53
Speaker 6: thought process. But then in terms of the actual installation,
• 6:55
Speaker 6: I mean our crew and our staff here is you know,
• 6:58
Speaker 6: second and nine. I mean, this is my twentieth year
• 6:59
Speaker 6: and the industry and I've never seen a more hard working, intelligent,
• 7:03
Speaker 6: just passionate about what they're doing, care about the results
• 7:07
Speaker 6: staff than we've seen here. So I mean it's and
• 7:10
Speaker 6: you know, being able to see it kind of as
• 7:12
Speaker 6: a soft opening first, like time putting all the lights
• 7:15
Speaker 6: on at the same time last night. I mean, it
• 7:17
Speaker 6: was it was breathtaking. I mean it still kind of
• 7:20
Speaker 6: mesmerizes you just you know, you start looking at one thing,
• 7:23
Speaker 6: then you look at another thing, and you know, just
• 7:25
Speaker 6: seeing and thinking about last year. Just like Ben said,
• 7:28
Speaker 6: I mean, there are certain you know, certainly some similarities,
• 7:32
Speaker 6: but it is a completely different layout, it's a completely
• 7:35
Speaker 6: different set of activities, and you know, with some of
• 7:38
Speaker 6: the staples, I mean, the ferris wheel is still absolutely amazing,
• 7:41
Speaker 6: the first ride on that I'm sure will be twenty
• 7:43
Speaker 6: five pictures for everyone that goes on there, but you know,
• 7:47
Speaker 6: adding the carousel, adding the round up ride, doubling and
• 7:50
Speaker 6: tripling some of the inflatables and other offerings along those lines,
• 7:55
Speaker 6: and then still being able to kind of, you know,
• 7:57
Speaker 6: from what we learned last year, because yeah, I kept joking,
• 8:00
Speaker 6: I wouldn't have done it, or wouldn't have thought up
• 8:01
Speaker 6: with the idea for anything it would do well, but
• 8:03
Speaker 6: probably wasn't expecting that level.
• 8:06
Speaker 3: So now we've got a lot more.
• 8:08
Speaker 6: Excessive like literal accessibility when you're in there, to be
• 8:11
Speaker 6: able to view and just enjoy every part about it.
• 8:14
Speaker 3: And I will tell you that, you know, the Dirty
• 8:16
Speaker 3: Birds always do a fantastic job in their social media
• 8:19
Speaker 3: year round, whether it's in season or out. And if
• 8:21
Speaker 3: you want to go and you want to see, some
• 8:22
Speaker 3: of the pictures really don't do it justice, but there
• 8:25
Speaker 3: are some great pictures to see what it looks like
• 8:27
Speaker 3: on the Dirty birds Face Facebook page. Dave Allen showing
• 8:30
Speaker 3: five Indy Line brought to you apart by Husband's Pizza
• 8:32
Speaker 3: this month that Hustin's get a large aten inch pepperoni
• 8:34
Speaker 3: pizza and a pizza dia only twenty one ninety nine.
• 8:38
Speaker 3: So it officially opens to the public tomorrow night. I
• 8:40
Speaker 3: was talking to one of my coworkers my office made
• 8:43
Speaker 3: up there. She said, yeah, I went last night and
• 8:44
Speaker 3: I said that then you were trespassing, and well she said, no,
• 8:48
Speaker 3: we just I guess she was out with some people
• 8:51
Speaker 3: and you know, they just kind of peeked their head
• 8:52
  Speaker 3: in a little bit. I know there's a I think
• 8:54
Speaker 3: a VIP thing tonight, but officially opens to the public
• 8:56
  Speaker 3: tomorrow night.
• 8:57
Speaker 6: And what are the dates, And we'll be open November
• 8:59
Speaker 6: fifteen through January first, every night except Christmas Day. So
• 9:04
Speaker 6: the dates are pretty pretty set, pretty straightforward. But all
• 9:08
Speaker 6: other information in terms of times, in terms of tickets,
• 9:11
Speaker 6: in terms of the different packages and when to come,
• 9:14
Speaker 6: and the expanded hours for the ice skating and for
• 9:17
Speaker 6: the ice bumper cars, all of that can be found
• 9:20
Speaker 6: on dblightthenight dot com, on our dirty Birds website or
• 9:24
Speaker 6: just like you said earlier, plenty of information on our
• 9:27
  Speaker 6: social media channel.
• 9:28
Speaker 3: You guys do a great job with that, and we
• 9:29
Speaker 3: had a texture. Somebody said how much.
• 9:31
Speaker 6: Well, I mean, that's the thing that I'm really proud about.
• 9:34
Speaker 6: We did not raise our ticket prices, and we did
• 9:37
Speaker 6: make sure that it is less expensive when they purchase
• 9:40
Speaker 6: it in advance, so you know, it varies on child adults,
• 9:45
Speaker 6: what day of the week, but everything is in the
• 9:48
Speaker 6: ten dollars range and you know, very very accessible right
• 9:52
  Speaker 6: there online.
• 9:52
Speaker 3: So yeah, I was gonna say there is a discount
• 9:55
Speaker 3: if you do get your tickets off line, and that's
• 9:56
Speaker 3: because of the sheer volume of people. That's kind of
• 10:00
Speaker 3: a convenience for you folks too, because it's because of
• 10:03
Speaker 3: the sheer volume of the number of people that come
• 10:05
Speaker 3: into this. And I'll promise you what's going to happen.
• 10:07
Speaker 3: Right now. It's pouring the rain, which thank god, because
• 10:09
Speaker 3: we need the rain in West Virginia. I won't complain
• 10:11
Speaker 3: about rain. But once we get the first snow, even
• 10:14
Speaker 3: if it's a couple of flurries here and there, you know,
• 10:16
Speaker 3: in a week or two or two, whenever it happens,
• 10:19
Speaker 3: you're going to see a whole lot of people go
• 10:20
Speaker 3: over there because there's nothing like seeing the lights with it,
• 10:22
Speaker 3: even if it's just a spit of snow kind of
• 10:24
Speaker 3: adds to the ambiance.
• 10:26
Speaker 7: It's gonna be packed, particularly when you start seeing the snow.
• 10:29
Speaker 7: But you know, it's funny because Andy and I would
• 10:30
Speaker 7: set out. I would set in the entrance and I
• 10:33
Speaker 7: would watch people's faces that they as they came in,
• 10:35
Speaker 7: and whether it was the kids seeing it for the
• 10:37
Speaker 7: first time or some of the nursing homes that brought
• 10:39
Speaker 7: their residence over them seeing it. It's heartwarming. And I
• 10:44
Speaker 7: kept checking in with Andy because the lines were around
• 10:47
Speaker 7: the stadium, and I would say, how many of we
• 10:50
Speaker 7: bring in this light? And each night they were breaking records.
• 10:53
Speaker 7: And I think it will do the same thing this
• 10:55
Speaker 7: year because people had such a great experience last year
• 10:58
Speaker 7: and it's bigger and better. So for the next month
• 11:01
Speaker 7: and a half. You are not allowed to say there's
• 11:03
Speaker 7: nothing to do in Charlie.
• 11:04
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 11:04
Speaker 3: Now, well you'll never hear me say that anyway, Commissioner,
• 11:07
Speaker 3: because there's always and especially when you bring in the
• 11:10
Speaker 3: entire Knaw Valley. I mean, there's always several several things.
• 11:13
Speaker 7: Well, you've got seen Aubans during their lights, coon skin,
• 11:15
Speaker 7: there's so many different places that are doing it, and
• 11:18
Speaker 7: including downtown Charleston. So we've connected the Brawley Walkway, which
• 11:22
Speaker 7: there's a lot going on, and the ballpark with the
• 11:26
Speaker 7: get this Holly Jolly Brawley trolley which will take you
• 11:29
Speaker 7: back and forth, so you can if you want to
• 11:31
Speaker 7: go downtown and see all the Christmas trees, they've got
• 11:33
Speaker 7: all the businesses that are set up the trees, and
• 11:35
Speaker 7: then jump on the trolley and come over to the ballpark.
• 11:38
Speaker 7: You can get there that way and it will take
• 11:40
  Speaker 7: you back. So there's a lot of there's a lot
• 11:43
Speaker 7: going on between the ballpark and downtown.
• 11:45
Speaker 3: And he are you good to take a call? Because
• 11:47
Speaker 3: somebody asked if they could ask you a question you
• 11:49
Speaker 3: could love to or put your headphones on there so
• 11:51
Speaker 3: you can hear the call. So Ryan, if you're ready,
• 11:53
Speaker 3: just give Ryan a second there, I mean to go ahead.
• 11:56
  Speaker 3: We're still working on communication, so we're we're using a
• 12:02
Speaker 3: rudimentary way of communicating right now. So Ryan, if you
• 12:05
Speaker 3: want to go ahead and uh uh and put that
• 12:07
Speaker 3: caller through, we'll take him. Go ahead, all right, you're
• 12:12
Speaker 3: on with Andy Sha go ahead.
• 12:14
Speaker 5: Have you given to talk to open up a gate?
• 12:17
Speaker 5: On the third base side. Uh, there's a building trade
• 12:20
Speaker 5: that's got a building up there and that would open
• 12:23
Speaker 5: up a lot of parking for Union Labor.
• 12:27
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 12:28
Speaker 6: In terms of open up the gate, we certainly have. Yes,
• 12:31
Speaker 6: that's something that was a top priority. Uh, in terms
• 12:34
Speaker 6: of having true you know, accessibility into the ballpark so
• 12:37
Speaker 6: on weekends, that is something that we are certainly looking into.
• 12:42
Speaker 6: And yes, the more ways to enter and exit and
• 12:45
Speaker 6: enjoy the experience the.
• 12:47
  Speaker 3: Better for us.
• 12:49
Speaker 5: That mean you're going up for baseball.
• 12:53
Speaker 6: Well for baseball. We got a little while toil we
• 12:54
Speaker 6: start thinking about that. But yes, that's certainly something that
• 12:57
Speaker 6: and we did have it. I mean it was open
• 12:58
Speaker 6: up I think at least half the time this year.
• 13:00

• 17:21
Speaker 3: to take time. The time that We normally would have
• 17:24
Speaker 3: to talk with Chris Lawrence and Tom Bragg to preview
• 17:26
Speaker 3: high school football. We're going to preview high school football
• 17:28
Speaker 3: court cases instead, coming up on tomorrow's show. Plus and
• 17:32
Speaker 3: a gardener from the Gnaal Charles and UMaine Association with
• 17:35
Speaker 3: this week's Adopt Me Please Better the Week, and doctor
• 17:37
Speaker 3: Casey Sacksonbridge Valley, all coming up on tomorrow's show. There's
• 17:40
Speaker 3: been a lot of talk lately about Governor Jim Justice
• 17:43
Speaker 3: now becoming Senator Jim Justice, and we don't know exactly
• 17:46
Speaker 3: what that whole thing is going to look like to
• 17:48
Speaker 3: be determined. I guess there is a local author though,
• 17:50
Speaker 3: by the name of doctor Sarah O'Connor who's written a
• 17:52
Speaker 3: book called Baby Dog Goes to Washington, and it's a
• 17:55
Speaker 3: children's book aim at teaching kids about the government. And
• 17:58
Speaker 3: she's with us this morning. Sarah to welcome to the show.
• 18:01
Speaker 13: Hi, thank you for having me.
• 18:02
Speaker 3: It just was pointed out by the Commissioner Selango that
• 18:06
Speaker 3: your name, he said, where do I know that name?
• 18:07
Speaker 3: Was a character and terminator.
• 18:09
Speaker 13: Yes, I've been hearing that since middle school.
• 18:11
Speaker 3: I shouldn't say you've probably never heard that before, right
• 18:14
Speaker 3: The first time today. That's the first thing he said
• 18:16
Speaker 3: was he said, where do I know that name? I said, well,
• 18:17
Speaker 3: you just met her upstairs. She said no, no, from
• 18:19
Speaker 3: somewhere else. And yeah, so of so you just get
• 18:22
Speaker 3: that's something you gotta live with. I guess, right, So
• 18:25
Speaker 3: what let you write this book? Baby Dog goes to Washington.
• 18:28
Speaker 13: So after the primary when Justice was the Republican nominee,
• 18:34
Speaker 13: it was we sort of figured it was pretty good
• 18:37
Speaker 13: chance that he was going to Washington, and I thought
• 18:39
Speaker 13: it would be a great chance to raise some money
• 18:43
Speaker 13: for charity, because all the profits from this book go
• 18:45
Speaker 13: to charity, but also educate kids about sort of how
• 18:49
Speaker 13: government works and how Washington works and the three branches,
• 18:53
Speaker 13: and just use it as a chance because Baby Dog's
• 18:56
Speaker 13: got such a following, have her help educate it's.
• 19:01
Speaker 3: And I think that's something that's very important to point
• 19:03
Speaker 3: out here, is because when I first I was when
• 19:06
Speaker 3: your folks reached out to me about this, I didn't
• 19:08
Speaker 3: know exactly what kind of book it was going to be.
• 19:09
Speaker 3: And I, you know, read some experts of it last night,
• 19:11
Speaker 3: looked around at the press release and whatever. You know,
• 19:13
Speaker 3: this is not a it is a book about Baby dog.
• 19:16
Speaker 3: But it's not really about baby dog. It's about the
• 19:18
Speaker 3: whole governmental process. Talk about that, right.
• 19:21
Speaker 13: Well, she starts she's going on at adventure and she
• 19:23
Speaker 13: starts in West Virginia and it's very pro West Virginia
• 19:27
Speaker 13: shows there's a picture of her with the newerver Gorge
• 19:30
Speaker 13: Bridge and she loves her home. But she's going to Washington,
• 19:34
Speaker 13: and she talks about all the things she wants to see,
• 19:36
Speaker 13: the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, and it describes
• 19:41
Speaker 13: what those things are, and then it talks about the
• 19:43
Speaker 13: people she wants to meet, like the justices of the
• 19:46
Speaker 13: Supreme Court. And so there's a picture that shows all
• 19:50
Speaker 13: and names all of the current justices of the Supreme
• 19:52
Speaker 13: Court and then Congress and then it shows a little
• 19:56
Speaker 13: thing where it's clear that there are three branches of
• 19:58
Speaker 13: government that balance each other. And so it's just it
• 20:02
Speaker 13: does there's real value in the educational component of it.
• 20:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, And I'm a big believer in civics and teaching
• 20:09
Speaker 3: civic And the earlier that you teach kids this the better.
• 20:13
Speaker 3: What what's the age group that would this would be
• 20:15
Speaker 3: ideal for or does it really matter?
• 20:18
Speaker 13: You know, it doesn't really matter. I think there are
• 20:20
Speaker 13: lots of people that don't fully understand our government systems.
• 20:23
Speaker 3: And you make one for adults because that'd be good
• 20:25
  Speaker 3: for them too.
• 20:27
Speaker 13: Well, it's a cute book, and you know, maybe you're
• 20:29
Speaker 13: reading it to your kid and you pick up something
• 20:31
  Speaker 13: about government.
• 20:32
Speaker 3: You can't hurt, can't hurt. And we should mention that
• 20:35
Speaker 3: all the proceeds from the book are going toward West
• 20:37
Speaker 3: Virginia based charities. Can you tell us about that?
• 20:40
Speaker 13: Yes, West Virginia based charities are what I want to
• 20:43
Speaker 13: focus on. I don't know how much the money the
• 20:46
Speaker 13: book is going to make, and so I don't have
• 20:49
Speaker 13: real distinct plans yet. I do know the Greenbrier Valley
• 20:52
Speaker 13: Humane Society is one of the charities, and we'll wait
• 20:56
Speaker 13: and see how much it makes. I don't even know
• 20:57
Speaker 13: if it's going to I think.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: You sold one upstairs? Did you not still about Andy
• 21:00
Speaker 3: Shay bought one. I don't know why Selango didn't buy one.
• 21:03
Speaker 3: I'll make sure I'll get at figured postcards. So okay,
• 21:06
Speaker 3: give you a postcard, QR coach. So I was gonna say,
• 21:08
Speaker 3: where are the books available? What's your primary way of
• 21:10
Speaker 3: putting them out there to people?
• 21:11
Speaker 13: So baby Dog goes to Washington dot Com is our
• 21:14
Speaker 13: website and you can buy it there. We're also approaching bookstores.
• 21:19
Speaker 13: Some have indicated that they'd like to carry it, so
• 21:22
Speaker 13: but I'm not sure it's on any shelves yet.
• 21:24
Speaker 3: Okay, but it will be. But the website's the way
• 21:26
  Speaker 3: to do it.
• 21:27
Speaker 13: Pretty Much everyone I approached is pretty enthusiastic about it.
• 21:30
Speaker 13: Baby Dog has a big following.
• 21:33
Speaker 3: I don't know that West Virginia has ever seen a character,
• 21:37
Speaker 3: a critter or you know that's taken off like Baby
• 21:41
Speaker 3: Dog has. I mean, because you know Jim Justice, I
• 21:44
Speaker 3: don't know exactly how old Baby Dog is. You may
• 21:46
Speaker 3: know this, but Baby Dog did not. Was not part
• 21:48
Speaker 3: of the first Gym Justice campaign, you know, when he
• 21:50
Speaker 3: ran for governor back in twenty sixteen. But somewhere Baby
• 21:53
Speaker 3: Dog evolved into this mythical character. And even people across
• 21:59
Speaker 3: the the nation and the world that people that couldn't
• 22:02
Speaker 3: find West Virginia on a map and think that we're
• 22:04
Speaker 3: somewhere near Roanoak, can they can relate to Baby Dog?
• 22:08
Speaker 13: They know Baby Dog. Baby Dog was on stage of
• 22:10
Speaker 13: the RNC. She was all the late night hosts talked
• 22:14
Speaker 13: about her. So yeah, she's got a following.
• 22:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, indeed she does. Again, we're talking with doctor Sarah
• 22:19
Speaker 3: O'Connor about this book called Baby Dog Goes to Washington.
• 22:23
Speaker 3: We'll give out that website again a little bit later
• 22:25
Speaker 3: on the Dave Island showing five Any Live is brought
• 22:27
Speaker 3: to you part by Pinnacle Consultants. There Lead pain Inspection
• 22:30
Speaker 3: and Risk Assessment services are designed to identify and to
• 22:32
Speaker 3: assess the presence of lead based pained buildings and other
• 22:35
Speaker 3: structures using a three phase approach of inspection, sampling and
• 22:39
Speaker 3: lab analysis and assessment report. Visit Pinnacle Corp dot net.
• 22:42
Speaker 3: Because what you don't know can hurt you. And as
• 22:45
Speaker 3: I mentioned earlier, it's teaching kids about civics and about things.
• 22:50
Speaker 3: I mean, it's so so important because somebody told me
• 22:53
Speaker 3: one time and again this is not I'm not picking
• 22:55
Speaker 3: on kids. This is a lot of adults too. We
• 22:57
Speaker 3: have more ways to get information now, but yet our
• 23:00
Speaker 3: society seems to not know as much.
• 23:03
Speaker 13: Yeah, and teaching kids just the facts about government, but
• 23:07
Speaker 13: then also critical thinking skills like gather your information and
• 23:11
Speaker 13: then consider all the sources, consider how reliable the sources are,
• 23:16
Speaker 13: and then make up your own mind and I think
• 23:18
Speaker 13: that critical thinking piece is so crucial for education, and
• 23:23
Speaker 13: it might be getting lost a little bit.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: And so got a text here it says I'm on
• 23:28
Speaker 3: my planning period and as a fourth grade teacher who
• 23:31
Speaker 3: teaches the three branches of government, I'm so excited for
• 23:33
Speaker 3: this book. This is something that can help them relate
• 23:36
Speaker 3: their lives to it. By the way, fourth grade is
• 23:39
Speaker 3: the age they begin learning about the branches of government.
• 23:42
Speaker 3: And I will be purchasing one perfect And.
• 23:44
Speaker 13: If you'd like me to come to a reading in
• 23:45
Speaker 13: your school, be in touch. You can be on the
• 23:48
Speaker 13: website and you have a contact there's a contact box there,
• 23:51
Speaker 13: And if you'd like me to read in your school,
• 23:53
Speaker 13: I would love that because I want to get this
• 23:55
  Speaker 13: in front of.
• 23:55
Speaker 3: Kids, okay, And you have a wonderful voice for reading too,
• 23:58
Speaker 3: so I think that would be great, you know. And Sarah,
• 24:01
Speaker 3: I'm always interested when I talk to authors to learn
• 24:04
Speaker 3: about their writing style. This is more about you, a
• 24:06
Speaker 3: little bit less about the book. Are you personal who
• 24:09
Speaker 3: just sits down and writes all at one time? Do
• 24:11
Speaker 3: you write a little bit at a time. What's your
• 24:12
  Speaker 3: particular writing style?
• 24:14
Speaker 13: I probably write and then edit and edit and edit
• 24:18
  Speaker 13: and edit.
• 24:20
Speaker 3: But do you edit?
• 24:21
Speaker 13: What do I add?
• 24:22
  Speaker 2: But do you?
• 24:23
Speaker 3: But do you ad? It was a little attempty humor
• 24:25
  Speaker 3: on my part.
• 24:25
Speaker 13: Oh, yes, for sure. Just improve your wording because I
• 24:30
  Speaker 13: write other things.
• 24:30
  Speaker 14: I write.
• 24:31
Speaker 3: I do medical writers, and that's what I wanted to
• 24:33
Speaker 3: talk to you. That was the next thing I want
• 24:34
Speaker 3: to let's learn about you. Let's talk about doctor Sarah O'Connor.
• 24:37
Speaker 13: Uh So, I'm an ophthalmologist, but I don't practice ophthalmology.
• 24:41
  Speaker 13: I work in public I also have a master's in
• 24:44
Speaker 13: public health, and so I do medical writing and data analysis.
• 24:47
Speaker 13: But then I also work in global eye care because
• 24:51
Speaker 13: I work with organizations that are working to build ee
• 24:54
Speaker 13: care capacity in the developing world. I do a lot
• 24:56
Speaker 13: of work in Honduras, but then I also do a
• 24:59
Speaker 13: lot of work with another or organization that works all
• 25:01
Speaker 13: around the world helping train off themologists.
• 25:03
Speaker 3: And you're in your ties to West Virginia. You're a
• 25:05
Speaker 3: West Virginia here a group? What part of West Virginia
• 25:07
Speaker 3: you're from Charleston? Oh, okay, went to firm Bank. Okay,
• 25:10
Speaker 3: right here, right here in Charles. Can't get more West
• 25:12
Speaker 3: Virginia than that. You know, you're writing a book about
• 25:14
Speaker 3: the and I have a text here. It says, Dave,
• 25:16
Speaker 3: baby dog will always be an icon forever. I bought
• 25:19
Speaker 3: my book from Amazon, says a text.
• 25:22
Speaker 13: Where money will go to charity if you buy it
• 25:23
  Speaker 13: from our website.
• 25:24
Speaker 3: But it's okay, so and to give give the website again.
• 25:28
Speaker 13: Doctor Www dot Baby Dog goes to Washington dot com.
• 25:31
  Speaker 13: It's long, but it's easy.
• 25:32
Speaker 3: To remember, all right. Do you anticipate that if this
• 25:35
Speaker 3: book is a huge success, which based on you know,
• 25:38
Speaker 3: you sold one upstairs in the green room, Dandy Shay,
• 25:40
Speaker 3: the owner of the Dirty Birds, This person texted in
• 25:43
Speaker 3: and then we had a text from a teacher that
• 25:44
Speaker 3: bought one. So so do you anticipate there could be
• 25:47
Speaker 3: a second book? Oh, baby dog comes home, Baby Dog.
• 25:51
Speaker 13: Goes to Congress. Baby dog goes to the White House.
• 25:54
Speaker 13: Baby dog sniffs out hypocrisy. Who knows?
• 25:56
Speaker 3: I love it? I love it, I love it. Baby
• 25:59
Speaker 3: dog goes on a search for chicken nuggets, because everybody
• 26:01
Speaker 3: knows that's kind of a baby dogs thing. Is a
• 26:03
  Speaker 3: chicken mesk.
• 26:03
Speaker 13: See, i've never met baby dog.
• 26:05
Speaker 3: You've never met baby dog. Well, I know the folks
• 26:07
Speaker 3: at the Governor's office listen to this show every day.
• 26:10

• 32:03
Speaker 3: Well, I've got a nice little postcard from doctor Sarah O'Connor,

Speaker 3: who's writing the book Baby Dog Goes to Washington. She
• 32:09
Speaker 3: was my last guest. Hope she had a chance to
• 32:11
Speaker 3: hear the interview, Brad, but she sent me a nice
• 32:13
Speaker 3: she or she gave me a nice little postcard to
• 32:15
Speaker 3: go along. I will be sending this along to you
• 32:17
Speaker 3: because it's got a QR code and you can purchase
• 32:19
Speaker 3: your very own copy.
• 32:21
Speaker 9: Mister mac so of a good stocking stuffer to me.
• 32:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, absolutely all right. So in wrestling, Brad my
• 32:29
Speaker 3: one of my former careers, they call it a three
• 32:31
Speaker 3: way dance. In quarner one, you have sent a finance sheer,
• 32:34
Speaker 3: Eric Tard, Corner two you have Senator Randy Smith, and
• 32:37
Speaker 3: in corner three we have the majority leader, Tom Takubo.
• 32:41
Speaker 3: Good problem to have, I guess when you have three
• 32:43
Speaker 3: powerful guys who want to all take charge of the
• 32:45
Speaker 3: Senates weigh in on that.
• 32:49
Speaker 9: Well, so there are thirty two people who get to
• 32:52
Speaker 9: make this choice, and the fact that there are three
• 32:56
Speaker 9: up for it makes it a little bit difficult because
• 32:58
Speaker 9: somebody's got to get a majority, right, And so I'm
• 33:01
Speaker 9: not necessarily saying I'm not weighing in on whether it's
• 33:05
Speaker 9: difficult among those personalities, but the fact that there are
• 33:09
Speaker 9: three makes the mathematics of a majority kind of a challenge.
• 33:16
Speaker 9: One way that this could be straightened out is that
• 33:20
Speaker 9: my understanding, the first round of the voting among the
• 33:23
Speaker 9: thirty two members of the Senate Supermajority Caucus will be
• 33:27
Speaker 9: December eighth, probably in the evening during legislative interims. I
• 33:31
Speaker 9: believe it's a Sunday, and they're going to go behind
• 33:35
Speaker 9: closed doors, and I think it'll be a secret ballot,
• 33:38
Speaker 9: but they will do an initial round of voting. And
• 33:43
Speaker 9: the way I understand the rules that they've carved out
• 33:45
Speaker 9: for themselves, whoever comes in third is then eliminated from
• 33:51
Speaker 9: contention like a game show, and presumably they're you know,
• 33:57
Speaker 9: would naturally be redistributed to others. Even so, you know,
• 34:02
Speaker 9: I'm not clear yet on whether anybody is truly able
• 34:08
Speaker 9: to get a majority. And I will also share it
• 34:14
Speaker 9: just between me and you, Dave us. This is a
• 34:17
Speaker 9: political family that we're talking about, and you know, they
• 34:22
Speaker 9: they tell you how they see things within their perception
• 34:27
Speaker 9: of how it is. But if you the theoretically objective
• 34:32
Speaker 9: listener get the view of several of the members of
• 34:40
Speaker 9: this political family. Uh, it is very much like the
• 34:46
Speaker 9: blind Man and the Elephant, like all right, So somebody
• 34:49
Speaker 9: told me that to Kubo is within striking distance, just
• 34:54
Speaker 9: exactly right there. Somebody else told me that Smith is
• 34:57
Speaker 9: within striking distance both of those camps. The TAR has
• 35:01
Speaker 9: the fewest. Tar's camp then disputes or the Tar has
• 35:05
Speaker 9: the fewest. So it's very hard to gauge from the
• 35:08
Speaker 9: outside in what the potential fluidity of this situation is.
• 35:16
Speaker 9: But nevertheless, it's it is. It is a three way race.
• 35:22
Speaker 9: And as someone who has talked to many of the
• 35:24
Speaker 9: people who will be making the vote deciding this matter,
• 35:28
Speaker 9: I came out of it, you know, kind of unsatisfactory,
• 35:31
Speaker 9: not very clear on who can be the winner in
• 35:33
  Speaker 9: the end.
• 35:34
Speaker 3: So the question, I guess, Brad could be asked, maybe
• 35:38
Speaker 3: for people who don't follow this and have lives and
• 35:41
Speaker 3: don't you know, and their lives don't depend on this,
• 35:43
Speaker 3: it could be why exactly do we need a Senate
• 35:45
Speaker 3: president and what are their roles?
• 35:47
  Speaker 9: Now?
• 35:47
Speaker 3: Obviously we see them up there with the gavel, but
• 35:49
Speaker 3: talk about some of the other roles. That is Sentate President,
• 35:52
Speaker 3: what they're or it's pretty much the same as the
• 35:54
Speaker 3: House speakers. Well, what are their roles other than just
• 35:57
  Speaker 3: banging a gavel?
• 35:58
Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean it's important in general because they will
• 36:03
Speaker 9: be the focal point of setting, you know, the Senate's
• 36:07
Speaker 9: emphasis running bills, and that'll be part of a team,
• 36:11
Speaker 9: but they're going to be at the center of these
• 36:13
Speaker 9: decisions what bills are run, the flavor of those bills.
• 36:18
Speaker 9: Who is on the leadership team with them, who leads committees,
• 36:24
Speaker 9: The committee chairs themselves have a great deal of power
• 36:27
Speaker 9: over what bills run and therefore what policies West Virginia
• 36:31
Speaker 9: ends up with. And then finally there's this you know,
• 36:36
Speaker 9: sort of soft power role, but it's the governor will
• 36:41
Speaker 9: receive most of the attention in terms of being the
• 36:46
Speaker 9: lead communicator for the state, but the House Speaker and
• 36:49
Speaker 9: the Senate President also have roles. I mean, you think
• 36:53
Speaker 9: of the times that you saw Mitch Carmichael speaking on
• 36:56
Speaker 9: behalf of the stage when he's the Senate President. Craig
• 36:59
Speaker 9: Blad either you know, talking on one of our programs
• 37:05
Speaker 9: or speaking at a groundbreaking or a new business has
• 37:10
Speaker 9: come to town and they're breaking ground, or there is
• 37:15
Speaker 9: a gathering of dignitaries from some other country. Those are
• 37:22
Speaker 9: all things that the Senate President winds up doing and
• 37:25
Speaker 9: therefore representing the Senate of the state in their words
• 37:29
Speaker 9: and their demeanor. So even though it is a family
• 37:33
Speaker 9: decision by this group of thirty two senators in the supermajority,
• 37:38
  Speaker 9: it's it's a decision that's going to affect the rest
• 37:41
Speaker 9: of the state well.
• 37:42
Speaker 3: And I think it's also Brad very important to point
• 37:47
Speaker 3: out that have been the Senate president of the last
• 37:50
Speaker 3: two Centate presidents ain't exactly job security, okay, because Craig
• 37:55
Speaker 3: Blair got beat. It's Carmichael got b Bill Cole opted
• 37:59
Speaker 3: to go run for something else. So it's not exactly
• 38:01
Speaker 3: like if you are the Senate President, you are going
• 38:03
Speaker 3: to solidify yourself as I've got this job as long
• 38:05
  Speaker 3: as I want.
• 38:06
Speaker 9: It, man. I mean, in retrospect, it's just, as a
• 38:10
Speaker 9: side note, amazing how Ray Tomlin had such staying power
• 38:14
Speaker 9: in the Senate, because it's just not done anymore, you know.
• 38:19
Speaker 9: I think one thing is that if you are not
• 38:23
Speaker 9: from Charleston and you your constituents perceive you as spending
• 38:29
Speaker 9: all your time in Charleston, they can begin to develop
• 38:33
Speaker 9: some umbrage to that. You know, he's never around you,
• 38:35
Speaker 9: doesn't see our problems anymore, So that that is a
• 38:38
Speaker 9: challenge for you know, any of the potential candidates from
• 38:43
Speaker 9: out of the region. For Takubo and Tar, I think
• 38:47
Speaker 9: probably not. You know, they can remain at home and
• 38:50
Speaker 9: still come to the Capitol and do their thing. For Smith,
• 38:52
  Speaker 9: maybe more of.
• 38:53
Speaker 3: A he's out of Preston County, right, Tucker County, Oh,
• 38:56
Speaker 3: Tucker Canty, I'm sure.
• 38:57
Speaker 9: And the other thing is I think Blair was very
• 39:04
Speaker 9: open to his entire caucus deciding the agenda. But some
• 39:10
Speaker 9: of those issues he got beat from the right. Some
• 39:14
Speaker 9: of those issues he paid the price for. And you
• 39:18
Speaker 9: know when I say that the Senate president helps determine
• 39:24
Speaker 9: the agenda, that may be a cautionary note for the
• 39:28
Speaker 9: next president on all right, we're this is a conservative states.
• 39:33
Speaker 9: I don't want to get beat from the right. We're
• 39:35
Speaker 9: not going to run this stuff that you know may
• 39:39
Speaker 9: be perceived as as something that can be used against
• 39:42
Speaker 9: me in the future. Here knows how that'll shake out,
• 39:45
Speaker 9: But that may be a strong consideration of the next
• 39:49
Speaker 9: president because the last couple have had very limited staying power.
• 39:53
Speaker 3: Well, and I think that one thing that it's very
• 39:55
Speaker 3: important to remember, and you know is somebody that doesn't,
• 39:58
Speaker 3: as I said, doesn't follow politics as closely is what
• 40:00
Speaker 3: maybe you or I do. They'll say, well, these are
• 40:02
Speaker 3: all Republicans, they can all work it out. Well for
• 40:04
Speaker 3: eighty three years, you know, when the Democrats were in charge,
• 40:07
Speaker 3: they had similar battles because you had different types of Democrats,
• 40:10
Speaker 3: just like you have different types of Republicans. You have
• 40:13
Speaker 3: what's known as the country club Republicans, the Chamber of
• 40:15
Speaker 3: Commerce Republicans tend to be a little bit more modern.
• 40:18
Speaker 3: You have the h and I guess the business type
• 40:21
Speaker 3: Republicans are in on that. Then you have some that
• 40:23
Speaker 3: are all about the social issues. You have some that
• 40:26
Speaker 3: are the far right. And I'm not saying it like
• 40:28
Speaker 3: it's a bad thing, but I mean far right that
• 40:30
Speaker 3: are more interested in still talking about COVID lockdowns and
• 40:34
Speaker 3: vaccines and things of that nature. So it's a it's
• 40:39
Speaker 3: a balancing act. And here's some of the information that
• 40:43
Speaker 3: I have been told, and that is I was told
• 40:47
Speaker 3: by somebody yesterday. There is a lot of movement right
• 40:50
Speaker 3: now and a lot of noise. And I don't mean
• 40:52
Speaker 3: that literally, but I mean there's a lot of lot
• 40:53
Speaker 3: of a lot of volume coming out of people that
• 40:56
Speaker 3: are supporting Smith, and that there's a whole lot more
• 40:59
Speaker 3: that's come out for people that are supporting to Kubo.
• 41:02
Speaker 3: And conversely, what that what that could mean is is
• 41:06
Speaker 3: that they see Eric Tarr as being in the lead.
• 41:09
  Speaker 3: And so I don't say they're unified. I don't mean that,
• 41:12
Speaker 3: but they're out there making the most noise because they
• 41:15
Speaker 3: know that Tar may be in the lead. Now I
• 41:17
Speaker 3: don't know whether that's true. That was told to me
• 41:19
Speaker 3: by somebody yesterday your thoughts before we close.
• 41:22
Speaker 9: I've heard that theory of the case as well, or
• 41:26
Speaker 9: that Tar had been in the lead and that kind
• 41:27
Speaker 9: of ganging up happened and that he may you know,
• 41:31
Speaker 9: it's fluid, he may rally. The further thought that I
• 41:36
Speaker 9: got on that theory was that they really want to
• 41:39
Speaker 9: knock him out in the first round because he is
• 41:42
Speaker 9: a competitor. He's very hard driven, maybe hard to take
• 41:46
Speaker 9: out in later rounds of voting. You know, you were right.
• 41:51
Speaker 9: The supermajority is so large and there are so few Democrats,
• 41:54
Speaker 9: they have no one but themselves quite anymore. And it
• 41:57
Speaker 9: does shake out a bit like Uh. I think of
• 42:01

• 42:16
Speaker 9: label him a liberal. The other group, the Smith focus group,
• 42:21
Speaker 9: is further to the right, more animated by by social issues. UH.
• 42:29
Speaker 9: And then the Tar group. You know, Tar is both
• 42:33
Speaker 9: a fiscal and social conservative. But he's in a tricky
• 42:37
Speaker 9: spot because he's been on the leadership team with Blair
• 42:42
Speaker 9: uh and and therefore has had to, you know, kind
• 42:44
Speaker 9: of go with the flow on things. So it's gonna
• 42:49
Speaker 9: be interesting to see. I think very much, whoever comes
• 42:53
Speaker 9: out of this as the choice of the majority of
• 42:55
Speaker 9: the Senate, it's going to be a true characterization of
• 43:00
Speaker 9: which of the subgroups the majority really falls under.
• 43:05
Speaker 3: So I started the segment Brad, as we let you go.
• 43:07
Speaker 3: I started the segment with a wrestling reference. I could
• 43:09
Speaker 3: referred to it as a three way dance. I'll close
• 43:11
Speaker 3: with a wrestling reference picture. It folks like a Battle

• 43:23
Speaker 3: Andre the giant over the top rope. Now, how's that
• 43:25
  Speaker 3: for a reference?
• 43:26
Speaker 9: Oh man, Well, I don't know where you get hit
• 43:28
  Speaker 9: with a chair.
• 43:30
Speaker 3: It could happen. It could happen.
• 43:31
Speaker 9: Appreciate your reference, and you know so far actually it's
• 43:35
Speaker 9: been pretty polite, yes, but it could come down to,
• 43:39
Speaker 9: at least symbolically about what you're saying.
• 43:42
Speaker 3: All right, Rad, I got to leave it there. I
• 43:43
Speaker 3: appreciate you being here, my friend. Look out for the

• 47:51
Speaker 3: the high school mess Fred purs Singer still upsets that
• 47:54
Speaker 3: he was not named People magazine Sexiest Man Alive. You
• 47:58
Speaker 3: lost it to the guy from the off there.
• 48:00
Speaker 8: And what you have to understand is I was named.
• 48:03
Speaker 8: I turned it down.
• 48:04
Speaker 3: You turned it down. I have no doubt. I have
• 48:07
Speaker 3: no doubt that's what happened. So what do you bring
• 48:10
  Speaker 3: us today, sir?
• 48:11
  Speaker 8: Nothing?
• 48:12
  Speaker 3: Absolutely nothing.
• 48:15
Speaker 8: The two play in games that were ordered by the judge,
• 48:20
Speaker 8: the circuit judge in Mason County. They've been scheduled, okay, tentatively,
• 48:28
Speaker 8: tentatively will be played tentatively Capital versus Hampshire at Bridgeport
• 48:34
Speaker 8: Point Pleasant versus Saint Albans at Hurricane High School. Both
• 48:38
Speaker 8: are scheduled Saturday at one o'clock. Now, I may be
• 48:44
Speaker 8: the total total optimist in the world. I still think
• 48:48
Speaker 8: the Supreme Court is going to come through. The SSAC
• 48:52
Speaker 8: did file a writ with the Supreme Court yesterday and
• 48:56
Speaker 8: they in there said oral arguments are necessary. In other words,
• 49:02
Speaker 8: they don't have to show up to actually present their arguments,
• 49:06
Speaker 8: that the Supreme Court has enough information if they want. Now,
• 49:11
Speaker 8: the Supreme Court could request oral arguments, that's up to them.
• 49:14
Speaker 8: But if they don't see they need them, they look
• 49:16
Speaker 8: at the material they have and can decide what's going
• 49:20
Speaker 8: to happen. I think I think that before this is Friday,
• 49:27
Speaker 8: before five o'clock tomorrow, I think of the Supreme Court
• 49:34
Speaker 8: will rule on this. There will be no play in games,
• 49:37
Speaker 8: and next weekend we'll get back to football. That's what
• 49:39
  Speaker 8: I think.
• 49:40
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 49:41
Speaker 8: Do I have any inside information, No, fingers crossed. I
• 49:45
Speaker 8: got this information this morning from Wayne Ryan so Shot,
• 49:47
Speaker 8: executive director of the WBSSAC talked with them at Great
• 49:51
Speaker 8: Links last night on our High School Sports Line show.
• 49:54
Speaker 8: And I think that's the way it's going to go.
• 49:56
  Speaker 3: I really do.
• 49:56
Speaker 8: I don't think playing games, My gosh, what are we doing?
• 50:00
Speaker 8: What are we doing again.
• 50:01
Speaker 3: Like you said yesterday, one of the beauties of football
• 50:04
Speaker 3: is it's real simple. For people like me, it's very
• 50:07
Speaker 3: simple to follow. You know, you make the playoffs, you're in.
• 50:09
Speaker 3: You don't have to lose, you don't have to go
• 50:11
Speaker 3: And don't mean wry. I love the other sports too,
• 50:13
Speaker 3: but you don't have to. Okay, well we lost this game,
• 50:15
Speaker 3: so now we're down one. You're losing, you're out, You win,
• 50:18
Speaker 3: and you're in'. That's pretty much the way it's supposed
• 50:20
Speaker 3: to be. I'm not a fan of playing games either,
• 50:21
  Speaker 3: sir No.
• 50:22
Speaker 8: And again, the Mason County Circuit Judge Anita Ashley when
• 50:26
Speaker 8: she ordered this, you know she's only concerned about point pleasant.
• 50:30
  Speaker 3: I get it.
• 50:31
Speaker 8: She's in Mason County and she's.
• 50:33
Speaker 3: Got to protect what she's got to protect. I get it.
• 50:36
Speaker 8: Hampshire, here's the team that was in. Then they got
• 50:39
Speaker 8: kicked out. Okay, Hampshire has never, ever, ever, in the
• 50:42
Speaker 8: history of the school made the high school football playoffs,
• 50:45
Speaker 8: and now she is saying, oh, yeah, you were in,
• 50:47
Speaker 8: but now we're going to make you play a game
• 50:49
Speaker 8: to get back in. What what happens What happens if
• 50:54
Speaker 8: they if the Supreme Court doesn't act until Monday, okay,
• 50:58
Speaker 8: and the play in games take up take they go off,
• 51:01
Speaker 8: and what happens if they go back to where we're
• 51:03
Speaker 8: supposed to be. Hampshire is in the playoffs, but they
• 51:08
Speaker 8: got beat in this playing game, and maybe their best.
• 51:13
  Speaker 3: Player gets hurt.
• 51:15
Speaker 8: They're back in the playoffs without their best player. And
• 51:19
Speaker 8: this game on Saturday, I don't know practice.
• 51:24
Speaker 3: Does it scrimmage? Like a scrimmage like the old grit
• 51:27
Speaker 3: a rama doesn't have an asterisk beside it, like like
• 51:31
Speaker 3: like a steroid player with with with with thetistics do
• 51:35
Speaker 3: not count in this game.
• 51:37
Speaker 8: My goodness, gracious adults, get out of the way, exact
• 51:43
Speaker 8: living vicariously through your son. Please just let the kids.
• 51:47
Speaker 8: That's all they want to do. They want to play.
• 51:49
Speaker 8: They don't care where, they don't care when let's spot
• 51:51
Speaker 8: the balls, spot the ball man, or I'm going to
• 51:53
Speaker 8: come off the top rope myself.
• 51:55
Speaker 3: All right, let me ask you this. There's a text says,
• 51:57
Speaker 3: does the strength of schedule need readjusted?
• 51:59
  Speaker 2: Yes?
• 52:00
Speaker 3: Okay, no way a three and seven team should get in.
• 52:04
Speaker 3: There was a call on Tom on Harvey Payton Show
• 52:07
Speaker 3: before mine for somebody who said, I like, I'm a
• 52:09
Speaker 3: Saint Albans graduate. They shouldn't be in the play.
• 52:11
Speaker 8: Should not. The coaches at Saint Albans will tell you
• 52:14
Speaker 8: that if they're saying, if somebody on the outside that
• 52:17
Speaker 8: has the authority to put them in and they're in, oh,
• 52:19
Speaker 8: you go play. Yeah, you know, I don't know if
• 52:21
Speaker 8: you don't like what's gonna happen, but you go play.
• 52:23
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 52:24
Speaker 8: I get that, I understand that. But get out of
• 52:26
Speaker 8: the way and let the kids get back to what
• 52:28
Speaker 8: they want to do and play football.
• 52:30
Speaker 3: All right now, you guys will still be doing a
• 52:31
Speaker 3: game night tomorrow night. Indeed, all right on this date
