- 0:00Chapter 6 of Jeremiah first, let's pray, dear God, please
- 0:05help us as we read through this to apply what we learned from
- 0:09this. We ask this, we ask that you
- 0:12open our eyes for understanding and we ask for this in Jesus
- 0:16name, Amen. So Jerusalem under siege.
- 0:21There are things, this is obviously about the warnings
- 0:25that God was giving Jeremiah about Babylon coming to attack
- 0:30them. And but it also it's it's
- 0:34interesting when you study Scripture that you see patterns
- 0:38and repetition. Things happen in the same way
- 0:42and there's future prophecy that says some of these same things.
- 0:48So even though this was fulfilled, it also is symbolic
- 0:55of what is yet to come because there are unfulfilled prophecies
- 0:59that tell us the same thing or similar thing will happen again.
- 1:04So we can learn from what has happened and some of the
- 1:08reasoning behind it because this is the Word of God.
- 1:10So we understand why God does these certain things that He
- 1:15does. So let's get started.
- 1:18Flee for safety, people of Benjamin flee from Jerusalem.
- 1:23Sound the trumpet in Toccoa. Raise the signal over Beth
- 1:28Hakarim. It says, why mention the study?
- 1:31Bible says why mention these obscure towns?
- 1:34Toccoa and Beth Tecarim lay South of Jerusalem, 12 and 2
- 1:40miles away respectively. Since the Babylonians attacked
- 1:45from the north, these towns were places where the people of
- 1:49Jerusalem could seek refuge. So it's getting back to
- 1:54Jeremiah, it says, for disaster looms out of the north, even
- 1:58terrible destruction. I will destroy daughter Zion, so
- 2:03beautiful and delicate. Shepherds with their flocks will
- 2:06come against her. They will pitch their tents
- 2:10around her, each tending his own portion.
- 2:14Prepare for battle against her. Arise, let us attack at noon.
- 2:18But at last the day is fading and the shadows of evening grow
- 2:22long. So arise, let us attack at night
- 2:25and destroy her fortresses. This is what the Lord Almighty
- 2:29says. Cut down the trees and build
- 2:32siege ramps against Jerusalem. The city must be punished.
- 2:37It is filled with oppression. As a well pours out its water,
- 2:43so she pours out her wickedness. Violence and destruction resound
- 2:48in her. Her sickness and wounds are ever
- 2:51before me. Take warning, Jerusalem, or I
- 2:55will turn away from you and make your land desolate so no one can
- 3:00live in it. This is what the Lord Almighty
- 3:03says. Let them glean the remnant of
- 3:06Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand over the branches
- 3:12again like one gathering grapes. I'll pause here because the
- 3:17gathering of grapes and the comparison that's used here is
- 3:22that you know your hands going over the grapes and gathering
- 3:25like one gathering grapes. Well, this is where this imagery
- 3:31is repeated also in the Book of Revelation, and that comes about
- 3:36in Revelation. Actually, Revelation chapter 14
- 3:42is where it talks about this, but it is something that's
- 3:45repeated in a lot of places. So if you just search sickle in
- 3:51an electronic version of a Bible, you'll get to Jeremiah
- 3:54chapter 50 where it says cut off from Babylon, the sower and the
- 3:59Reaper with his sickle at harvest, because the sword of
- 4:03the oppressor let everyone return to their own people, let
- 4:07everyone flee to their own land. And then in Joel, who was also a
- 4:13prophet, he says swing the sickle for the harvest is ripe.
- 4:17Come trample the grapes for the wine is full and the vats
- 4:21overflow, so great is their wickedness.
- 4:25And then in Mark chapter 4, this is, I believe Jesus says this,
- 4:31as soon as the grape is ripe, he puts the sickle to it because
- 4:35the harvest has come. So you will see again this is in
- 4:39one of the parables, the parable of the growing seed.
- 4:43This is what Jesus said. He also said this is what the
- 4:46Kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the
- 4:49ground, night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up.
- 4:52The seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how, all
- 4:57by itself. The soil produces grain, first
- 5:01the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
- 5:05As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts a sickle to it, because the
- 5:09harvest has come so often when it.
- 5:14There's this gathering, there's this harvest where people are
- 5:18gathered, and there's also the the wrath of God where people
- 5:23are gathered and then thrown into a winepress.
- 5:27And that's what it talks about in Revelation chapter 14.
- 5:30So I'll just read some of the verses that come up that have
- 5:34sickle in it from Revelation 14. I looked in there before me was
- 5:38a white cloud, and seating seated on the cloud was one like
- 5:42the Son of Man with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp
- 5:46sickle in his hand. Then another Angel came out of
- 5:50the temple, that's a heavenly temple, and called in a loud
- 5:53voice to him who was sitting on the cloud.
- 5:55Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has
- 5:59come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
- 6:03So see, this is like a future for all the earth.
- 6:06But it's very similar to the description that Jeremiah was
- 6:09given from God in his vision of like the harvest here Revelation
- 6:141416 says. So he, he who is seated on the
- 6:18cloud, swung his sickle over the earth and the earth was
- 6:23harvested. So pay attention to that because
- 6:26I've noticed that this is so. This is Jesus on a cloud and the
- 6:33earth was harvested so so he gathered that part.
- 6:39Now it talks about another Angel.
- 6:41The next verse says another Angel came out of the temple in
- 6:43heaven and he too had a sharp sickle.
- 6:46Still another Angel who had charge of the fire, which this
- 6:51gets important also. The fire came from the altar and
- 6:55called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle.
- 6:59Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes
- 7:03from the earth's spine, because its grapes are ripe.
- 7:07And then it says the Angel swung his sickle on the earth,
- 7:10gathered its grapes, and threw them into the great winepress of
- 7:15God's wrath. So to me it sounds like there
- 7:19are two different harvestings. It's a because it says that the
- 7:27seated on the sound was like a son of man and he had a shark
- 7:31sharp sickle in his hand and then he harvest.
- 7:35So then that means there's some that's still left.
- 7:37So there's one harvest that occurs and then a second
- 7:40harvest, and the second harvest is the wrath of God.
- 7:45So the first, it doesn't say that the ones, the first ones
- 7:47that were harvested go into the wrath, but it does say the
- 7:51second ones. It's just a detail that, you
- 7:54know, read it and think about it, pray about it because it
- 7:57seems significant to me. Like the question, well, here's
- 8:02the thing Jesus said, I mean, well, in Scripture it says that
- 8:07those who are in Christ are not subject to wrath.
- 8:10So could this be showing that Jesus and his angels will gather
- 8:15those who have prepared themselves in in advance where
- 8:18they are not subject to wrath, but yet there's another harvest
- 8:22where those who are subject to wrath experience all this?
- 8:27So just that's one of the verses where it looks like there could
- 8:30be a couple harvest symbolically anyway.
- 8:36So let's continue on back to Jeremiah.
- 8:39To whom can I speak and give warning?
- 8:42Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they
- 8:46cannot hear. The word of the Lord is
- 8:48offensive to them. They find no pleasure in it.
- 8:53Well, to me that also sounds like today everything that comes
- 8:57out, I be people want to silence the Bible right now because it's
- 9:02offensive. They don't like what it says.
- 9:05They reject it because people are rebellious.
- 9:08They don't want to do the things that God says are good.
- 9:12And then they start calling the things that are in the Bible
- 9:16that God said is good. They start calling them, you
- 9:19know, I don't know, putting bad labels on it essentially and
- 9:24making people think that those are evil things when they are
- 9:27actually good things that God has shared with humans.
- 9:32And and that's where we are today in in the world.
- 9:36When you see a lot of that, you can't say everyone because not
- 9:40everyone falls in that same category, but you can see how
- 9:44people reject the word of God. They don't want to abide by it
- 9:48and they they have a rebellion to God.
- 9:52They just don't like what it says, so they reject it.
- 9:55And that's exactly what was happening to with the people at
- 10:00the time of Jeremiah in Jerusalem.
- 10:03And it's the word of the Lord is offensive to them.
- 10:06They find no pleasure in it. So it was also in Second Timothy
- 10:11chapter 4, verse 3, It said for the time will come when people
- 10:16will not put up with sound doctrine.
- 10:20Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around
- 10:25them a great number of teachers to say what they're itching ears
- 10:30want to hear. So we will.
- 10:33This is, you know, the in the future and the current and the
- 10:37future actually and the past, past, current and future,
- 10:42because this is what is happening right now is that
- 10:47there are different churches that give different kinds of
- 10:53messages to people. And so people choose the
- 10:56churches that align with what they want to hear, but not
- 11:00everything that's being heard. There are certain teachers and
- 11:04they just say what people want that want to hear.
- 11:08They give them just uplifting messages, but not the full
- 11:13truth. So if you don't have the full
- 11:15truth, if you don't have something that makes you
- 11:17uncomfortable with what the Bible says, will you be
- 11:20challenged if you are in rebellion to God?
- 11:25That's just a question and and I guess different people respond
- 11:28to different things. So in this second Timothy
- 11:32chapter 4, it I'll read it from the beginning and just go over
- 11:37that because I think it's a little bit important for
- 11:39Christians and how Christians should react to this in the
- 11:44presence of God and of Christ Jesus who will judge the living
- 11:49and the dead and in view of his appearing and his Kingdom.
- 11:56I give you this charge. So he's giving instructions
- 12:00here. Preach the Word, be prepared in
- 12:05season and out of season, correct rebuke and encourage
- 12:12with great patience and careful instruction.
- 12:16Then, then is the next verse. For the time will come when
- 12:19people will not put up a sound doctrine.
- 12:20Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around
- 12:23them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears
- 12:25want to hear. They will turn their ears away
- 12:28from the truth and turn aside to myths.
- 12:32But you keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do
- 12:38the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your
- 12:43ministry. So those are the instructions to
- 12:49to Christians that you know this is going to happen.
- 12:52There's going to be people that turn away and they just go to
- 12:55the churches that tell them what they want to hear.
- 12:57But the role of the true Christian, the one surrendered
- 13:01to God, is to always remain prepared, correct people when
- 13:07they, I guess this is referring to Christians of the church is,
- 13:14you know, people who are misunderstanding or misled or
- 13:19who are not acknowledging the truth, Correct them and rebuke
- 13:23them when they are doing things in opposition to the word of God
- 13:26and encourage the whole point of it is not to be.
- 13:30We are, you know, remember that if we judge others, we will be
- 13:34judged in that same way. So this is not judgment.
- 13:37That's Jesus's job authority. That's the authority given to
- 13:41Jesus. No one else has that authority.
- 13:44However, the only time when someone corrects or rebukes
- 13:48someone is that, hey, pay attention to what's in the
- 13:51Bible. This is what it says and it
- 13:53should be with encouragement to repent, change your ways and get
- 13:59in a good relationship with God. And that's the point of it.
- 14:04People. You know, you can't force
- 14:06anybody to do anything or to live by the word of God, but you
- 14:12can remind them, hey, this is what's in the Bible.
- 14:15You might want to pay attention to it because this is also as
- 14:20talked about here, in view of his appearing Christ Jesus is
- 14:23appearing and His Kingdom. So the whole reason why anyone
- 14:28is doing this is because Jesus will appear at some point in
- 14:32time and there is a Kingdom that is being prepared for those
- 14:38people who accept God, who receive the Holy Spirit, and who
- 14:45are willing to be obedient. Who are, you know, tired of
- 14:49being rebellious to God and decide I want to live my life
- 14:52for Christ. I want to be in God's Kingdom,
- 14:55and I reject the things that don't align with God.
- 15:00That's a decision every single person has to make.
- 15:03So anyway, then getting back to Jeremiah chapter 6.
- 15:09So it continues. But I am full of the wrath of
- 15:13the Lord, and I cannot hold it in.
- 15:15Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men
- 15:19gathered together. Both husband and wife will be
- 15:22caught in it, and the old those weighed, and the old those
- 15:26weighed down with years, their houses will be turned over to
- 15:30others, together with their fields and their wives.
- 15:34When I stretch out my hand against those who live in the
- 15:39land, declares the Lord from the least to the greatest, all are
- 15:45greedy for gain. Prophets and priests alike all
- 15:50practice deceit. They dress the wound of my
- 15:55people as though it were not serious peace.
- 15:59Peace, they say, when there is no peace.
- 16:04So that's another thing that is repeated within Scripture about
- 16:11there's no peace. And it's also ties into kind of
- 16:13the itching ears kind of thing. Everybody wants positive news.
- 16:17Nobody wants anything that doesn't, you know that negative
- 16:23things, Nobody wants to hear that.
- 16:25And so everyone's going to say peace, You know, this is this is
- 16:30great. You know, everybody, everybody
- 16:32does love peace. Everybody does want peace.
- 16:34But are you going to believe that there is peace?
- 16:38And this is kind of weird right now because this the timing of
- 16:42this podcast is on October 13th, which the hostages have just
- 16:47been returned. And there is this meeting in
- 16:51Egypt that's coming up now. And many, many nations are
- 16:55gathering. Israel is not going to be a part
- 16:59of it. Israel was invited to it, but
- 17:01because of the holiday, they did not attend.
- 17:03So there is a meeting and it's around the Abrahamic Accords.
- 17:09We'll see what comes of it. But again, everybody is has been
- 17:13tired of all of this war that has been going on.
- 17:16And people really do want peace. But unfortunately, what
- 17:22Scripture tells us is that often when people say peace, peace,
- 17:27there is no peace and we haven't our whole world has not repented
- 17:35and turned to the true, the one true God.
- 17:38Our, our whole world has not received the Holy Spirit to
- 17:44enable us to live the way God designed us to live and to
- 17:49desire the things that God desires.
- 17:51Not everyone has the Holy Spirit.
- 17:54So if you have people who don't have the Holy Spirit and people
- 17:58who are still in rebellion to God, how can you have peace?
- 18:07There is no peace. So any kind of discussion about
- 18:12we have peace in the Middle East right now, it's false.
- 18:15It's only going to be for a short while.
- 18:18That's what Scripture tells us. And I don't mean to be negative,
- 18:22but I'm just, you know, Scripture prophecies do come
- 18:27true. So we need to be aware of this.
- 18:30And Isaiah the prophet in chapter 48 says there is no
- 18:37peace, says the Lord, for the wicked.
- 18:40Again, in chapter 57 he says the same thing.
- 18:43There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.
- 18:47Jeremiah says they dressed the wound of my people as though it
- 18:51were not serious peace. Peace, they say when there is no
- 18:55peace. And then he repeats that in
- 18:57chapter 8. They dress the wound of my
- 18:59people as though it were not serious peace.
- 19:02Peace, they say when there is no peace.
- 19:05So people are not having repentance, they're not turning
- 19:07to God and cleaning up their ways.
- 19:09They're still practicing deceit. They're still doing even evil
- 19:13and wicked things, and they think they're going to have
- 19:15peace. But that's not what's going to
- 19:17happen. Ezekiel chapter 13 says because
- 19:22they lead my people astray, saying peace when there is no
- 19:26peace, and because when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it
- 19:30with whitewash. The those prophets of Israel who
- 19:35prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when
- 19:40there was no peace declares the sovereign Lord.
- 19:44So again, there's, there's, there will probably will be more
- 19:47people saying, you know, visions of peace that this is so great
- 19:51and everything. But then we have to remember
- 19:53what's in one First Thessalonians chapter 5, verse
- 19:583, while people are saying peace and safety, destruction will
- 20:04come on them suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and
- 20:11they will not escape. So this is a verse from
- 20:18Scripture that we just need to keep in mind that we, you know,
- 20:22Jesus has not returned yet. We don't get peace.
- 20:26We don't get real, true, lasting peace until Jesus returns.
- 20:32So there may be a temporary peace, but it's not a time of
- 20:37peace. And we may see this, that all of
- 20:39a sudden there are certain people who will think that we're
- 20:43in this time of peace. And I don't know how long this
- 20:45will go on. Will it go on for years?
- 20:47Will it go on for months? Will how long will it last?
- 20:51That's a question that remains to be seen.
- 20:55And, and we just have to know that Scripture tells us it's not
- 20:59going to last. That's, you know, unfortunately,
- 21:02things are playing out just like Scripture says.
- 21:05So this happened to Hezekiah too.
- 21:07Hezekiah thought there was going to be peace and insecurity in
- 21:11his lifetime, but he was wrong about this.
- 21:14He misunderstood. And he had people saying that
- 21:18that to him as well. And that is you can read about
- 21:22Hezekiah in Second Kings chapter 20.
- 21:26And Isaiah talks about Hezekiah also in chapter 39.
- 21:33So but then there will be and Jeremiah does talk about this in
- 21:39future chapters. There will be a future peace and
- 21:42security. But that happens after Jesus
- 21:45returns. So and then again, we have to be
- 21:48careful too, because if there's some false Messiah that claims
- 21:52to be Jesus and claims to be bring peace and safety, I mean,
- 21:58I can't even imagine it. But it does say in the Scripture
- 22:01that there will be false messiahs and it says do not
- 22:04believe them. I don't really see a false
- 22:07Messiah coming on this on the scene right now, but everybody
- 22:10is looking for someone like that and it you know, there's AI
- 22:16don't know. We'll see what happens because
- 22:19the Bible does talk about a false 1 and I just don't see
- 22:22someone on the stage like that right now.
- 22:25But Jeremiah 30 says so. Do not be afraid, Jacob, my
- 22:30servant, do not be dismayed. Israel declares the Lord.
- 22:33I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants
- 22:38from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and
- 22:43security, and no one will make him afraid.
- 22:47So Jacob is meaning Israel, and because Jacob was long gone by
- 22:54this time, and so this was just a word used for Israel, but
- 23:00Jacob again will have peace and security, and no one will make
- 23:03him afraid. That is when Jesus returns
- 23:06Jeremiah 33 verse 6 says, nevertheless, I, I again, this
- 23:11is God. I will bring health and healing
- 23:14to it. I will heal my people and will
- 23:18let them joy, abundant peace and security.
- 23:22So this is the only time that there will be peace and security
- 23:25is when Jesus returns. And Jeremiah 46 verse 27 it says
- 23:30do not be afraid Jacob, my servant, do not be dismayed.
- 23:33Israel, I will surely save you out of a distant place, your
- 23:38descendants from the land of their exile.
- 23:40Jacob will again have peace and security, and no one will make
- 23:45him afraid. Again.
- 23:46It comes from Jesus. Jesus is not here yet.
- 23:49So we won't have peace. So we need to have that in mind
- 23:54and not get too comfortable in rebellion because if the sudden
- 24:02destruction comes upon and we or anyone is in rebellion and that
- 24:08person dies, they are not going to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 24:11That's what the Bible says. If you are in act of rebellion
- 24:14to God, you are not going to be in God's Kingdom.
- 24:18So we can't live in a rebellious way knowing that there's a
- 24:23potential for sudden destruction to come.
- 24:27So we always have to keep God our priority and keep our
- 24:32relationship good with Him. And you know, if we do something
- 24:38wrong to ask for forgiveness, God is merciful and forgiving
- 24:42and he does that, but we don't ask for forgiveness and do it
- 24:45again. We have to ask for forgiveness,
- 24:48then stop it. And if we need help, which we
- 24:51may do, I mean, all people need help in stopping rebellious
- 24:56ways. That's received from the Holy
- 24:58Spirit through Jesus. And that is what Jesus said.
- 25:01We must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God.
- 25:05So if we don't have the Holy Spirit, we can't be in the
- 25:08Kingdom of God according to what Jesus said in John chapter 3.
- 25:12I'm going to read a few questions and answers about
- 25:16Jeremiah chapter 6 from what we already read.
- 25:19So what was so dangerous about shepherds and flocks?
- 25:22Jeremiah described Jerusalem as a beautiful and delicate.
- 25:27As beautiful and delicate words in Hebrew allude to a green
- 25:30pasture. Just as a lush and peaceful
- 25:33pasture would be overrun with sheep, so Jerusalem was about to
- 25:38be overrun by an invading army who was speaking about preparing
- 25:42for battle to drive home the ferocity of the coming attack.
- 25:47Jeremiah imagined the Babylonian invaders urging each other with
- 25:51these words, urging each other on with these words.
- 25:56They would be so bent on attacking Jerusalem that they
- 25:59would even begin the assault in the middle of the night, a most
- 26:02unusual time to begin a military assault in Jeremiah's day.
- 26:08So what was the remnant of Israel?
- 26:11This is, you know, the gathering of grapes and the sickle.
- 26:15This was a very small group of people in Judah who remained
- 26:19faithful to God and who would still be there when the attack
- 26:24on on Jerusalem occurred. And this is very much like what
- 26:29happens in the Book of Revelation, the vision that John
- 26:33saw through Jesus and through an Angel about the there's 144,012
- 26:43thousand from various tribes of of Israel.
- 26:49One of the things I think it's Ephraim and Dan are not
- 26:52mentioned, but there are 12,000 representatives of each tribe.
- 26:57And I'm sure people don't really know their lineage at this
- 27:00point. And whether that 12,000 is a
- 27:03literal number, number or symbolic number, we really don't
- 27:06know because Revelation is both literal and symbolic at the same
- 27:11time. So there will be a remnant.
- 27:13God always has a remnant because he doesn't fully destroy Israel
- 27:18ever, but he because of his promise to Israel's ancestor.
- 27:23So Israel will never be wiped off the face of the earth.
- 27:26They Israel will always have some representation because this
- 27:31is what Bible prophecy says. So it says who was speaking here
- 27:38when it talks about? Jeremiah interjected his
- 27:41feelings of anguish in verses 10 through 11 in the middle of
- 27:45God's pronouncement against Judah.
- 27:47Jeremiah's use of different voices produced an effect like a
- 27:51drama, which heightened the emotional impact.
- 27:54Why did the people listen to a prophet of doom?
- 27:58Actually, the people did not listen repeatedly.
- 28:02The book of Jeremiah notes that the people preferred the
- 28:06deceptive messages of the false prophets who promised peace and
- 28:11reminded the people of their privileged position.
- 28:14The straightforward message of Jeremiah's prophecy fell on
- 28:18closed ears. Who were these prophets who
- 28:23proclaimed peace? They were false prophets who
- 28:26ignored the people's greed, deceit, and other sins.
- 28:30These false prophets promised that all would be well, thereby
- 28:34building false hopes of peace again.
- 28:37That's that itching ears. People will listen to what they
- 28:40want to hear, but it may not be the truth, and they're deceived
- 28:44by that. They don't change their way
- 28:47because they don't listen to, hey, if you live like this,
- 28:50you're not going to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 28:52If you don't have the Holy Spirit, you can't enter the
- 28:54Kingdom of God. So people, you know, want to
- 28:58think that they're good enough or they might be good enough to
- 29:00get there. But the reality is Scripture
- 29:03tells us what people need to do. Like Jesus is the way.
- 29:08He provided the way by his sacrifice on the cross.
- 29:11He made it possible for us to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 29:14If Jesus hadn't died on the cross, then it would not be
- 29:17impossible for our sins to be forgiven.
- 29:19Like in Hebrews, it says that without the shedding of blood,
- 29:23there is no forgiveness of sins. So it was required.
- 29:28And Jesus was the only one who was perfect, unblemished,
- 29:32because he was the Son of God. So that's the only reason, the
- 29:37only way that he could make it possible for us because of his
- 29:42perfection. So then when it talks about now
- 29:47I've kind of lost my place, we're here.
- 29:50I guess it's the peace and security.
- 29:52So I'm going to go back to verse 16.
- 29:57This is what the Lord says. Well, I think I need to go back
- 30:01to 15. OK.
- 30:03After that they say they dressed the wound of my people as though
- 30:06it was, it were not serious peace.
- 30:08Peace, they say when there is no peace.
- 30:10Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
- 30:14No, they have no shame at all. They do not even know how to
- 30:18blush. So they will fall among the
- 30:21fallen. They will be brought down when I
- 30:24punish them, says the Lord. So that's, that's a really scary
- 30:27position that we could be in. We could be doing things against
- 30:31God and just I don't feel bad about it.
- 30:33I feel it's OK. But if God says it's wrong, then
- 30:37we have this false sense of security.
- 30:41If God says don't do this and we're actively doing that, we
- 30:47we're in the same position as what he's talking about with the
- 30:50people of Jerusalem. They have no shame at all.
- 30:54They do not even know how to blush.
- 30:57So what were these ancient paths?
- 30:59This is what is actually we're going to talk about that next.
- 31:02So verse 16, this is what the Lord says, stand at the
- 31:05crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths.
- 31:09Ask where the good way is and walk in it so and you will find
- 31:15rest for your souls. So again, this is you know our
- 31:21obedience to God is important. Our repentance, our rejection of
- 31:27sin to say we agree with you God, you know we are changing
- 31:32our minds. We don't want that sin in our
- 31:34life. This is the instruction that is
- 31:39was given to the people of Jerusalem at this time and is
- 31:43given today to us as well. And we have a lot of that where
- 31:48people are still in rebellion and not turned to God.
- 31:52And do you think if God did it to his chosen as elect people,
- 31:56do you think he would not do that to us as well?
- 32:01So what were these ancient paths?
- 32:03These were the tried and true ways of people's godly
- 32:06ancestors. Instead of following the proven
- 32:10ways of the Lord, the only paths that could bring rest for their
- 32:14souls, the people were straying into ways of idolatry.
- 32:20So he says, going back to what Jeremiah and ask where the good
- 32:26way is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls.
- 32:31But you said we will not walk in it again.
- 32:34That's that continual rebellion. I appointed Watchmen over you
- 32:39and said listen to the sound of the trumpet.
- 32:44Those are the warnings. You know, God gives prophets to
- 32:47warn people. God puts people in people's
- 32:51paths to give warnings, and people either listen to them or
- 32:54they ignore them. And then it goes, here's what
- 32:58Jeremiah says. But you said we will not listen.
- 33:02So that's no different than today.
- 33:04Therefore, here you nations, you who are witnesses, observe what
- 33:10will happen to them. So this is here you earth.
- 33:14I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their
- 33:19schemes. Then he says, why?
- 33:22Because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my
- 33:27law. So we do need obedience.
- 33:32And, you know, there's a lot of people who teach that, you know,
- 33:36this, this grace covers everything.
- 33:38And there's, you know, no, you know, like obedience isn't
- 33:42important, but God is very and people say, oh, that's the Old
- 33:45Testament. Well, Jesus also said that, you
- 33:49know, these words will remain. He has not come away.
- 33:51He did not come here to change anything or to take away
- 33:54anything that any of the prophets said, but he came to
- 33:57fulfill it. So it doesn't, it's not that it
- 34:00goes away. The only thing that goes away is
- 34:03the animal sacrifices because those are not necessary because
- 34:07of what Jesus did. But the rest of this stuff, yes,
- 34:10we still need to obey the Mosaic laws, the 10 commandments.
- 34:15We still need to obey those. And actually it, you know, in
- 34:20Scripture, I mean, it does say like the Feast of Tabernacles is
- 34:25actually going to still be celebrated.
- 34:28That's this fall harvest festival that is I think is just
- 34:35ended or is just beginning. We're right in the midst of it
- 34:37right now. But the Feast of Tabernacles,
- 34:42Feast of Trumpets, that that festival is actually, no, it's
- 34:47not. I think that's Yum.
- 34:50I'm getting mixed up. So the Feast of Tabernacles, I
- 34:53believe that is that comes later.
- 34:55And that is like a happy gathering.
- 34:58Sukkot, I believe is what it's called.
- 35:01And that will be celebrated throughout the Millennium after
- 35:05Jesus returns. So even some of those festivals
- 35:08are going to be celebrated after Jesus returns, which I just
- 35:11think is interesting. And there were three that God
- 35:15said, you know, basically want you to do these, remember these
- 35:19festivals all the time. The first was Passover.
- 35:23The second was the festival of weeks, which ended with the
- 35:28that's also called Shavuot in Hebrew or Pentecost in Greek.
- 35:34And that was when the Holy Spirit came.
- 35:36So on Passover was when Jesus died on the cross.
- 35:38So that was one significant festival that he always wanted
- 35:42everybody to remember. And then the second one was the
- 35:45festival of weeks. And that's when the Holy Spirit
- 35:47came. But and now we have the festival
- 35:50of Tabernacles, and that is where people are in temporary
- 35:53shelter. And I just wonder if that's
- 35:55going to be like the gathering that Jesus comes to gather those
- 35:58people who are prepared. There's a lot of people that
- 36:01draw that conclusion. And it really does seem like
- 36:04Scripture supports that theory that during this time, this fall
- 36:09time, some year in the future, that Jesus will be gathering his
- 36:14people who are prepared. So anyway, but there's a word of
- 36:19warning to the people who are unrepentant.
- 36:22He says here you earth, I am bringing disaster on this
- 36:25people, the fruit of their schemes because they have not
- 36:29listened to my words and have rejected my law.
- 36:31What do I care about incense from Sheba or sweet calamus from
- 36:35a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not
- 36:38acceptable to me. Your sacrifices do not please
- 36:41me. So he he only gave the
- 36:45sacrifices as a means to avoid death originally because it was
- 36:52a substitution instead of the person dying.
- 36:55They were able to sacrifice an animal, but it never truly
- 37:00atoned for them. It was a temporary thing until
- 37:03Jesus came and became the sacrifice that atoned for all
- 37:07mankind's sins. So what was special about
- 37:11incense from Sheba and sweet Calamus from a distant land?
- 37:15The incense was probably frankincense which was important
- 37:18from the imported from southern Arabia.
- 37:20Calamus was a type of read from India that was used to
- 37:23manufacture anointing oil for temple use.
- 37:26These were costly goods showing that people spared no expense to
- 37:30worship God properly. None the less, God was not
- 37:34pleased with their mere outward show, no matter how extravagant,
- 37:39for their hearts were corrupt. So again, it's like people can
- 37:43be in church, they can be participating, they can be
- 37:46serving, they can be glory to God, they can be doing Bible
- 37:50studies, they can be doing all these things.
- 37:52But if their hearts are not turned to God, He sees through
- 37:55all that. And that's just like, I guess
- 37:57that's like the whitewashed wall on the outside.
- 37:59It looks good, but it's crumbling on the inside.
- 38:02And God's looking at the inside and he knows what's happening on
- 38:05the inside of people. Therefore, this is what the Lord
- 38:09says, I will, I will put obstacles before this.
- 38:13People, parents and children alike will stumble over them.
- 38:17Neighbors and friends will perish.
- 38:20This is what the Lord says, look, an army is coming from the
- 38:23land of the north. A great nation is being stirred
- 38:26up from the ends of the earth. Now this is either an
- 38:31exaggeration to make a point or this is also like a double
- 38:37fulfillment kind of a thing where it's alluding to something
- 38:41in the future as well as the Babylonian conquering of
- 38:45Jerusalem. And they are armed with bow and
- 38:50spear. They are cruel and show no
- 38:53mercy. They sound like the roaring sea
- 38:56as they ride on their horses. They come like men in battle
- 39:01formation to attack you, Daughter Zion.
- 39:06I just think that's interesting that it says they come like men
- 39:10in battle formation. Like, are they not men?
- 39:13I don't know. We have heard reports about
- 39:16them. And our hands hang limp.
- 39:20Anguish has gripped us. Pain like that of a woman in
- 39:24labor. So again, the hands hang limp.
- 39:28This is something that I've noticed repeated and there are
- 39:34just 4 phrases that have including three exacts, so I'll
- 39:38read those in Jeremiah 6. We have heard reports about
- 39:41them. Our hands hang lip.
- 39:42Anguish has gripped us. Pain like that of a woman in
- 39:45labor. In Jeremiah 50, it says the king
- 39:49of Babylon has heard reports about them and his hands hang
- 39:53limp. Anguish has gripped him.
- 39:56Pain like that of a woman in labor.
- 39:58So later on, not only is a Jerusalem whose hands hang limp,
- 40:03but the king of Babylon, his hands hang limp.
- 40:07And that's like just showing this, this great fear.
- 40:11Then Zephaniah 3 verse 16. On that day they will say to
- 40:15Jerusalem. Do not fear Zion.
- 40:18Do not let your hands hang limp. And then what continues in that
- 40:25chapter? The Lord your God is with you,
- 40:27the mighty warrior who saves. He will take great and light
- 40:31delight in you, in his love. He will no longer rebuke you,
- 40:35but will rejoice over you with singing.
- 40:39I will remove from you all who mourn over the loss of your
- 40:42appointed festivals, which is a burden and reproach for you.
- 40:46At that time I will deal with all who opposed you.
- 40:49I will rescue the lame. I will gather the Exiles.
- 40:53I will give them praise and honor in every land where they
- 40:57have suffered shame. At that time I will gather you.
- 41:02At that time I will bring you home.
- 41:05I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the the
- 41:09earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes.
- 41:14So again, this still has not happened yet because Israel is
- 41:20not looked upon like that. So this is something future and
- 41:25Jeremiah 47 says at the sound of the hoods of galloping steeds,
- 41:29that the noise of enemy Chariots and the rumble of their wheels,
- 41:32parents will not turn to help their children.
- 41:35Their hands will hang limp. So this is just showing like
- 41:38great fear over what is coming. And then the woman in labor,
- 41:43that is often. I mean, there's a lot of them.
- 41:47There are actually 50, it says woman in laborers 59 times and
- 41:5317 verses, including fourteen exact phrases.
- 41:57So in Psalm 4048, it says trembling sees them, their pain,
- 42:02like that of a woman in labor. Isaiah 13.
- 42:06Terror will seize them, Pain and anguish will grip them.
- 42:09They will writhe like a woman in labor.
- 42:12They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.
- 42:16Isaiah 21. At this, my body is wracked with
- 42:20pains, pangs. Pangs.
- 42:22Sees me like those of a woman in labor.
- 42:25I am staggered by what I hear. I am bewildered by what I see.
- 42:30Isaiah was a prophet and he's seeing this devastation that's
- 42:33coming. So lots of prophets have talked
- 42:37about this. I have seen this in visions and
- 42:41reported this to people, but it didn't seem to make a whole lot
- 42:45of difference to people. Jeremiah 4 I hear a cry as a
- 42:49woman of Labor and a groan as one of one bearing her first
- 42:53child. The cry of daughter Zion gasping
- 42:57for breath, stretching out her hands and saying, at last I am
- 43:00fading. My life is given over to
- 43:01murderers in Jeremiah 6. We've heard reports about them.
- 43:05Our hands hang limp. Anguish has gripped us, a pain
- 43:08like that of a woman in labor. Jeremiah 13.
- 43:11What will you say when the Lord sets over you those who cult who
- 43:16those you cultivated as your special allies?
- 43:20Will not pain grip you like that of a woman in labor?
- 43:24That's really interesting. What will you say when the Lord
- 43:27sets over you those you cultivated as your special
- 43:33allies? Will not pain grip you like that
- 43:37of a woman? So this almost sounds like a
- 43:41deceit of somebody who's considered an ally that the Lord
- 43:44is going to set over Israel. Jeremiah 22, you who live in
- 43:50Lebanon, who are nestled in cedar buildings, how you will
- 43:53groan when pangs come upon you, pain like that of a woman in
- 43:58labor. So again, this is Lebanon's
- 44:00going to have this pain of a woman in labor.
- 44:03Jeremiah, 30, says ask and see. Can a man bear children?
- 44:08That's kind of interesting today to say that then why do I see
- 44:12every strong man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in
- 44:17labor, every face turned deathly pale?
- 44:21So Jeremiah is seeing this vision of something he said like
- 44:24every strong man like this is going to be something that, as
- 44:30Jesus said, there's going to be great distress that has never
- 44:34happened before nor will ever happen again.
- 44:37When this happens in the future, Jeremiah 48 says Carioth will be
- 44:42captured and strongholds would be taken in that day.
- 44:45The hearts of Moabs warriors will be like the heart of a
- 44:49woman in labor. So what this is I you know when
- 44:54God has his wrath and Jeremiah 49 says, look, an eagle will
- 44:59swore and swoop down, spreading its wings over Basra.
- 45:04That's an important town to remember in that day.
- 45:07The hearts of Edoms that's Jordan warriors will be like the
- 45:12heart of a woman in labor. Damascus has become feeble.
- 45:16She has turned to flee and panic has gripped her.
- 45:20Anguish and pain have seized her.
- 45:22Pain like that of a woman in labor.
- 45:26Jeremiah 50 says the king of Babylon has heard reports about
- 45:30them and his hands hang limp. Anguish has gripped him.
- 45:35Pain like that of a woman in labor.
- 45:38So just like God said before you destroy or when you stop
- 45:43destroying, you will be destroyed.
- 45:47Micah says. Why do you now cry aloud?
- 45:50Have you no king? Has your ruler perished?
- 45:53That pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor.
- 45:58So there's this panic. Micah 4 also says writhe in
- 46:02agony, daughter Zion, like a woman in labor.
- 46:05For now, you must leave the city to camp in the open field.
- 46:10You will go to Babylon. There you will be rescued.
- 46:14There the Lord will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.
- 46:21So let's go back to Jeremiah. So about the hands we talked
- 46:27about hands hang limp and woman in labor and that's very much
- 46:31like the end days that similar. You know it's like a double
- 46:35fulfillment of prophecy. Do not go out to the fields or
- 46:38walk on the roads, for the enemy has a sword.
- 46:42That's the same thing that Jesus says when he talks about what's
- 46:48going to happen. Like all of the all of the
- 46:50nations will surround Israel, and we'll get into that too.
- 46:54But this is very much similar to what is prophesied for the
- 47:00future. Put on sackcloth, my people, and
- 47:03roll in ashes. Mourn with bitter wailing.
- 47:07As for an only son, I thought that was interesting because
- 47:11Jesus is God's only son, so mourn with bitter wailing.
- 47:15As for an only son, I mean, I just that just came to mind.
- 47:19Like literally, that's who Israel needs is the Son of God
- 47:25to give them forgiveness and to enable them to enter the Kingdom
- 47:30of God. But you know, they the belief is
- 47:34they don't believe that Jesus was the son of God and but
- 47:37that's who they need. So it's really interesting.
- 47:40And then for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.
- 47:44And I did talk about this in another chapter about the
- 47:47destroyer. When you look at at Scripture
- 47:52and it talks about this destroyer, it tells us that in
- 47:57Revelation Chapter 9 verse 11, this destroyer could be
- 48:02spiritual because they had here's what it says they had as
- 48:05a king over them the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew
- 48:13is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon, that is destroyer.
- 48:20So this is some Angel destroyer. And remember there was an Angel
- 48:23destroyer who killed the first born back in the book of Exodus
- 48:29that went about. And those who were not covered
- 48:31by the blood of the Lamb and today would be those who are not
- 48:36covered by the blood of Jesus. They were destroyed.
- 48:41So again this history repeats itself, and we can learn from
- 48:45things like that. I have made you a tester of
- 48:49metals, and my people the oar, that you may observe and test
- 48:55their ways. They are all hardened rebels
- 48:59going about to slander. They are bronze and iron.
- 49:02They all act corruptly. The bellows blow fiercely to
- 49:07burn away the lead with fire, but the refining goes on in
- 49:12vain. The wicked are not purged out.
- 49:16They are called rejected silver because the Lord has rejected
- 49:21them. So it says the wicked are not
- 49:25purged out. And you know, all this fire, all
- 49:28this testing, all these bad things that God allows, this
- 49:33punishment is not giving the result that God wants.
- 49:38God wants people to turn to him to repent of their ways, and
- 49:42it's just not happening. So who is this great nation from
- 49:48the north? Babylon, along with her allies.
- 49:51Although Babylon was actually located east of Judah, the
- 49:56normal military route from Babylon to Judah was not a
- 49:59straight east West line. Instead, the Babylonians had to
- 50:03travel around the expansive Arabian desert that lay between
- 50:08Babylon and Judah, the attacker. Attackers from the east would
- 50:12therefore enter Judah from the north.
- 50:16So it says. Why put on sackcloth and roll in
- 50:18ashes? Putting on sackcloth and ashes
- 50:20had long been a sign of mourning in Israelite culture.
- 50:24Sackcloth, which was made of goat or camel hair, was likely
- 50:28worn because it was coarse and black.
- 50:30This was yet another expression of God's call for the people to
- 50:34repent. He was looking for them to
- 50:37display a sign of deep remorse and sorrow for their sins.
- 50:42How was Jeremiah like a tester of metals?
- 50:44A tester of metals took samples of silver and melted them,
- 50:49hoping to discover the value of the of the silver ore by
- 50:53separating out the less valuable metals.
- 50:56When the silver content was too low, it was considered worthless
- 51:01and was rejected. In testing the metal of Judah,
- 51:05Jeremiah concluded that Judah had too many impurities and
- 51:09would therefore be rejected. No matter the intense or
- 51:13duration of the fire. The refining of Judah would be
- 51:18in vain because the wicked would, would, could not be
- 51:22purged out. So that's the end of chapter 6
- 51:28in Jeremiah. It there was something else that
- 51:33I had noticed here. Oh yeah, in verse 25, it says
- 51:40for the enemy has a sword and there is terror on every side.
- 51:45So terror on every side is something that is again repeated
- 51:50throughout Jeremiah. And he says do not in chapter 6,
- 51:55like we read, do not go out to the fields or walk on the roads
- 51:58for the enemy has a sword and there is terror on every side.
- 52:02In chapter 20 he says the next day when Pasha released him from
- 52:07the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, the Lords name for you is
- 52:10not Pasha but terror on every side.
- 52:14In Jeremiah 20 verse 10, he says I hear many whispering, terror
- 52:20on every side. Denounce him, let's denounce
- 52:24him. All my friends are waiting for
- 52:25me to slip, saying perhaps he will be deceived, then we will
- 52:30prevail over him and take our revenge on him.
- 52:35And then in Jeremiah 46, what do I see?
- 52:38They are terrified, terrified. They are retreating.
- 52:42Their warriors are defeated. They flee in haste without
- 52:45looking back, and there is terror on every side, declares
- 52:49the Lord in Jeremiah 49. It says the tents and their
- 52:53flocks will be taken, their shelters will be carried off
- 52:57with their goods and camels. People will shout to them,
- 53:00terror, people who shout to them, terror on every side.
- 53:06So that's something else that Jesus talks about too.
- 53:14And I, I will read, I will read that too.
- 53:17There's so in Luke chapter 21 verse 20, it says when you see
- 53:24Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that it's
- 53:29desolation is near. Now this is the for the future.
- 53:33And then similar to the past of Babylon, then let those who are
- 53:38in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those in the city get out
- 53:43and let those in the country not enter the city, for this is the
- 53:47time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been
- 53:53written. So again, this is what Jesus
- 53:56said and he's he said he came to bring fulfillment when he comes
- 54:00again, this is going to bring fulfillment of all that has
- 54:04written. It says how dreadful it will be
- 54:08in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
- 54:11There will be great distress in the land and against in the
- 54:15land, and wrath against this people.
- 54:18They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to
- 54:22all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by
- 54:26the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
- 54:32So there is a time, the way that I'm reading this, I mean,
- 54:35there's a lot of discussion in in prophecy people right now
- 54:39that talk about, you know, we are in the times of the
- 54:41Gentiles. I don't know that we necessarily
- 54:43are I reading this right now. I'm thinking that, you know,
- 54:48when Jerusalem is, I think that sounds like there's going to be
- 54:52a future point when their Gentiles will basically take
- 54:56over this area. And again, we're seeing this
- 54:59like peace and safety message. So how long will Israel have
- 55:03peace? How long will this peace
- 55:05agreement that they're working on and expanding?
- 55:08How long will it last? Because there is going to be a
- 55:11point in time, according to Bible prophecy, when sudden
- 55:15destruction comes on. I just don't know how long it's
- 55:18going to be, but this is a time for all people to watch because
- 55:22of what? And not just watch, but be
- 55:25prepared because if this is fulfilling Bible prophecy right
- 55:30now, who knows? We don't know how much time it
- 55:33is, but Luke talked about this. He talked about that and Matthew
- 55:39also said this, He said, So when you see standing in the holy
- 55:43place, the abomination that causes desolation spoken of the
- 55:47through the prophet Daniel, let the reader understand.
- 55:50Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, the same
- 55:53thing. So in Matthew, Jesus actually
- 55:58talked about the abomination that causes desolation.
- 56:02So we haven't yet seen that, but that's something to pay
- 56:05attention to. And it says let no one on the
- 56:07housetop go down or take anything out of the house.
- 56:10Let no one go to the no one in the field go back to get their
- 56:13cloak. How dreadful it will be in those
- 56:15days for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
- 56:17Just like what Luke said, that your flight will not take place
- 56:21in winter or on the Sabbath, then there will be great
- 56:25distress unequalled from the beginning of the world until
- 56:30now, and never to be equaled again.
- 56:33We have not seen that or experienced it that yet.
- 56:37If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive.
- 56:42But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened at
- 56:47that time. If anyone says to you, look here
- 56:50is the Messiah or there he is, do not believe it.
- 56:54For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform
- 56:58great signs and wonders to deceive if possible, even the
- 57:02elect. See I have told you ahead of
- 57:05time. So if anyone tells you there he
- 57:08is out in the wilderness, do not go out or here he is in the
- 57:12inner rooms, do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from
- 57:17the east is visible even in the West, so will be the coming of
- 57:22the Son of Man. Wherever there is a carcass
- 57:26there the vultures will gather. Now listen to this.
- 57:30Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be
- 57:36darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall
- 57:41from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 57:46Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then
- 57:52all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son
- 57:57of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great
- 58:00glory. And he will send his angels with
- 58:05a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the
- 58:11four winds from one end of the heavens to the other.
- 58:16So there's that gathering it also, you know, and, and Luke
- 58:24it, you know, Luke warns, people will tell you, there he is, here
- 58:28he is. Do not go running after them,
- 58:31for the Son of Man in his day will be like lightning with flat
- 58:34which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.
- 58:38People are going to see when Jesus returns.
- 58:40Where Lord? They asked.
- 58:42He replied, Where is the dead body where the vultures will
- 58:44gather? When you see Jerusalem being
- 58:47surrounded by armies, you will know that it's desolation is
- 58:52near. Then let those who are in Judea
- 58:54flee to the mountains. Let those in the city get out.
- 58:58Let those in the country not enter the city, for this is the
- 59:01time of punishment in fulfilment of all that has been written.
- 59:06How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant and nursing
- 59:09women. There will be great distress in
- 59:12the land and wrath against this people.
- 59:15They will fall by the and will be taken as prisoners to all the
- 59:19nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by
- 59:22the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
- 59:26There is in Revelation it talks about that time is 3 1/2 years
- 59:33that it says don't measure the outer courts because it has been
- 59:38given to the Gentiles for 1260 days or times time and half a
- 59:44time. So there's 3 1/2 years that that
- 59:48is going to occur. And then this, the thing about
- 59:52the darkening of the sky before Jesus returns is repeated with a
- 59:57lot of prophets in Isaiah chapter 513, in Joel chapter 2,
- 1:00:04Joel chapter 3, Matthew chapter 24, Jesus says it.
- 1:00:09Mark chapter 13, Jesus says it. And then the interesting thing
- 1:00:15is in Revelation Chapter 9 talks about this happening.
- 1:00:20When the abyss is opened up. So again, you know, everybody
- 1:00:27talks about this seven-year period.
- 1:00:29Is this like at the midpoint? I don't know.
- 1:00:33We'll just have to look like we'll just have to watch and be
- 1:00:36aware of what it says in scripture.
- 1:00:38So I will read these verses from the various prophets and Jesus
- 1:00:44who talked about in that day. They will roar, roar over it
- 1:00:49like the roaring of the sea. And if one looks at the land,
- 1:00:53there is only darkness and distress.
- 1:00:55Even the sun will be darkened by clouds.
- 1:00:58Well, actually I'll skip that one because that's not really
- 1:01:00necessarily applicable. It's not.
- 1:01:03Let's go to Isaiah 13. The stars of heaven and their
- 1:01:06constellations will not show their light.
- 1:01:09The rising the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not
- 1:01:14give its light. Joel 2.
- 1:01:17Before them the earth shakes, the heavens tremble, the sun and
- 1:01:21moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
- 1:01:26Joel Chapter 3 The sun and the moon will be darkened, and the
- 1:01:30stars no longer shine. Matthew 24 Immediately after the
- 1:01:36distress of those days, that's that time that is worse than
- 1:01:40ever on earth or will be in the future.
- 1:01:42So immediately after the distress of those days, the sun
- 1:01:45will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars
- 1:01:49will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 1:01:54Mark chapter 13. But in those days following that
- 1:01:59distress, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give
- 1:02:03its light. In Revelation Chapter 9, when he
- 1:02:06opened the abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a
- 1:02:11giant gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened
- 1:02:16from by the smoke from the abyss.
- 1:02:20So maybe it is, maybe it isn't at that time, but it does talk
- 1:02:25about similar things. If we look at chapter 6 of
- 1:02:32Revelation, listen to what it says when the 6th seal is
- 1:02:36opened. I watched as he opened the 6th
- 1:02:39seal. There was a great earthquake.
- 1:02:42The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair.
- 1:02:47The whole moon turned blood red and the stars in the sky fell to
- 1:02:54the earth as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong
- 1:03:00wind. The heavens receded like a
- 1:03:03scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was
- 1:03:06removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the
- 1:03:11Princess, the generals, the rich and the mighty, and everyone
- 1:03:14else both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the
- 1:03:19mountains. They called to the mountains and
- 1:03:22the rocks fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him who sits
- 1:03:27on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
- 1:03:32For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand
- 1:03:37it? And so it sounds like this
- 1:03:40happens like the sun and the moon growing dark and the stars
- 1:03:44falling from the sky. Like how many times can that
- 1:03:47happen repeatedly? If they already fell from the
- 1:03:49sky, they can't fall again. So to me it sounds like at the
- 1:03:536th seal is when Jesus has seen. That's probably when he gathers.
- 1:03:59People just read those scriptures really carefully.
- 1:04:03So I think paying attention to the seals and what happens
- 1:04:07during the seals is really important.
- 1:04:11So I think that covers everything that I was going to
- 1:04:15talk about. Again, this is a long one, but
- 1:04:18there's a lot in here. I just think we all need to be
- 1:04:20prepared and need to, you know, be right with God because these
- 1:04:28God gives lots of warnings. Are we going to listen to them?
- 1:04:31Are we going to ignore them? And again, even if we are not,
- 1:04:36if this is still like many, many years ahead of us, like away
- 1:04:40from us, like right now in the future, we still don't know like
- 1:04:44when or if our days are numbered by God.
- 1:04:47God decides when we will die. We don't we could have some, you
- 1:04:51know, unexpected thing happen to us if we are not prepared, if we
- 1:04:56are not right with God, we it, it gives us warnings that we'll
- 1:05:01probably not be in his Kingdom. So it's really important our
- 1:05:04relationship with God. I mean, just ask God to show you
- 1:05:07what you need to do. It's that personal relationship
- 1:05:11with God, that conversation with God about I don't want to be
- 1:05:15sinning anymore. I don't want to be rebellious.
- 1:05:17I want to be your child. I want to be in your Kingdom.
- 1:05:21Show me what I need to do to to, to make things right with you.
- 1:05:26I mean, that's where all of us need to be if we want to be in
- 1:05:30the Kingdom of God. We can choose to live life any
- 1:05:32way we want. That's each of our choices.
- 1:05:35Nobody's going to force us and it's a choice, but we just have
- 1:05:39to remember that our choice brings about the end result of
- 1:05:43where we will be.
