- 0:13Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Once again, Scott's not here.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Should we do a poll, Kratz, on where Scott is?
- 0:19Speaker 1: It should be like, where in the world is Scooter Brown?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Do we know where Scott is? Because Scott was next
- 0:25Speaker 1: to me yesterday, and now all of a sudden, bye-bye, Scott.
- 0:30Speaker 2: A EDM concert in Orlando. Ice cream shop is B. France. France.
- 0:41Speaker 2: or d watching intently and yelling at his screen right
- 0:45Speaker 2: now both of.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Us really you think uh i don't know if he's
- 0:50Speaker 1: yelling at his uh screen intently but he's definitely doing
- 0:57Speaker 1: he's probably sitting at home right now i don't know
- 0:59Speaker 1: where his house is because nobody knows where scott lives
- 1:01Speaker 1: he moves like once a month from he was in
- 1:03Speaker 1: orlando then he was in miami then he was in
- 1:05Speaker 1: brooklyn then he was in new york then he was
- 1:07Speaker 1: in california i hate to be his accountant but He's
- 1:10Speaker 1: probably sitting there going like this in the chat, yelling
- 1:14Speaker 1: at us for how we didn't do the show properly.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And we're only a minute in. So I'm sure, Scott,
- 1:19Speaker 1: we love you. But we wish you the best with
- 1:23Speaker 1: whatever you're doing in whatever country you're in. I hope
- 1:25Speaker 1: the glow sticks are on point for you.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Kratz, was there any game you watched last night that
- 1:34Speaker 2: you were just locked into? Because for me, It was
- 1:37Speaker 2: the Dodgers-Braves. Obviously, I'm calling the Dodgers-Braves on Thursday night.
- 1:41Speaker 2: But 4-3, the Dodgers are losing. Shohei Otani hits a
- 1:45Speaker 2: leadoff triple in the top of the ninth. And Freddie
- 1:48Speaker 2: Freeman punches out. Mookie Betts hits a ground ball. And
- 1:52Speaker 2: then Tommy Edmond gets an out. And the Braves escape
- 1:54Speaker 2: with a win. That was the game for me and
- 1:57Speaker 2: the moment for me. Was there anything you were watching
- 1:59Speaker 2: last night that you were like, wow? That's what I'm
- 2:01Speaker 2: trying to think. Oh, the San Diego-Pittsburgh game was like that. And,
- 2:07Speaker 2: of course, I'm the one that turns it off before
- 2:10Speaker 2: Mason Miller gives up the home run. So it was
- 2:12Speaker 2: a 0-0 game. I was watching for the pitching matchup. King, King,
- 2:17Speaker 2: and Skeens. I'm like, okay, Skeens is kind of back.
- 2:20Speaker 2: And then I miss the best part, a go-ahead homer
- 2:24Speaker 2: in the ninth. But, oh, well. Well, in all fairness,
- 2:27Speaker 2: it was like midnight on the East Coast when all
- 2:29Speaker 2: that happened. So it's hard to– you have kids still
- 2:33Speaker 2: in school and kids around. So it's hard to stay
- 2:35Speaker 2: up past, like, Yes. I don't know. A little bit later.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean, there were some good games. The
- 2:40Speaker 1: Brewers game last night was very good. It was fun
- 2:42Speaker 1: to watch. The Dodgers-Braves, obviously. But, you know, let's charge
- 2:47Speaker 1: them out and let's talk about some of these things.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Charging them out. Ah, the poor Blue Jays.
- 2:54Speaker 1: The poor, poor Blue Jays who are still only like
- 2:56Speaker 1: a game or two out of the wild card.
- 2:58Speaker 2: They lose Shane Bieber. Another pitcher to the I.O. They're three.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I mean, are they?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Well, first, before we even get into Shane Bieber going
- 3:05Speaker 1: to the I.O.
- 3:05Speaker 2: With Wright Terrace major inflammation. Shane Beaver had been pitching
- 3:10Speaker 2: really well. Are the Blue Jays really in the wild
- 3:12Speaker 2: card race? I just spent 30 minutes on a show
- 3:16Speaker 2: in Toronto with my guy, Blake Murphy, and I'm going
- 3:19Speaker 2: to say no. No, they're not. But then again, I've
- 3:25Speaker 2: said that the whole time. Are any of the five
- 3:27Speaker 2: teams that are six, including the Guardians, are any of those– truly,
- 3:33Speaker 2: really in this race. I guess three games is enough
- 3:36Speaker 2: if you go on a run, but how many times
- 3:39Speaker 2: in 120 games so far can we say, oh, if
- 3:42Speaker 2: they go on a run? I don't think, especially with
- 3:45Speaker 2: a Shane Bieber injury, I just don't see how they
- 3:49Speaker 2: get out of it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they have too many injuries for me. So sorry,
- 3:55Speaker 1: North of the Border friends, Canadian friends. I think it's
- 3:58Speaker 1: too little too late. And until Vlad Guerrero hits a
- 4:01Speaker 1: home run at home, I'm out.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I'm out on the Blue Jays.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And the other thing is, we kind of talked about
- 4:06Speaker 1: it a little bit earlier for me, the Braves and
- 4:08Speaker 1: the Dodgers, right? The game last night, Glass now returned,
- 4:11Speaker 1: really rough first inning. If you watch this game, rough
- 4:13Speaker 1: first inning, wasn't very good. And then he goes out
- 4:16Speaker 1: and gives them five. I think he threw 30 pitches
- 4:18Speaker 1: in the first inning and still gave them five. Bullpen
- 4:21Speaker 1: was solid. Obviously better for the Braves than the Dodgers.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Tanner Scott gives up the run, which is their closer
- 4:26Speaker 1: now because Edwin Diaz is on the IL with a, ow,
- 4:30Speaker 1: I can't throw a strike and get anyone out, so
- 4:31Speaker 1: my neck hurts injury. What did you take out of
- 4:35Speaker 1: the Braves beating the Dodgers and Glasnow's return, which obviously
- 4:39Speaker 1: is huge for the Dodgers?
- 4:42Speaker 2: I think you're playing the silver linings game. For the Dodgers, it's–
- 4:47Speaker 2: Glasnow fought through adversity, gave you five innings, which are
- 4:51Speaker 2: they going to even, let's say he came out and dominated.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Are they even going to ask for more than five?
- 4:55Speaker 2: When you're talking about a team that's preparing for the playoffs,
- 4:58Speaker 2: are they going to even let him go more than five?
- 5:01Speaker 2: I don't think so. So to me, I think for
- 5:04Speaker 2: the Dodgers, hey, you know what? Silver lining. Yes, Glasnow's there.
- 5:08Speaker 2: We have to clean up and figure out our closing situation.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But as you saw the last two postseasons, We don't
- 5:14Speaker 2: know what the Dodgers are going to do, except they're
- 5:16Speaker 2: going to figure it out come the end of September
- 5:20Speaker 2: and into October. I think for the Braves, I don't
- 5:24Speaker 2: think anybody's been like, oh, man, the Braves, they're really
- 5:27Speaker 2: struggling here and there. They've gone through some stuff. They
- 5:31Speaker 2: have Chris Sale in their starting rotation, and they're still
- 5:37Speaker 2: at the spot where they're at. And everyone's like, oh,
- 5:39Speaker 2: the Phillies are going to catch them. No way. Too
- 5:42Speaker 2: much of a lead. Too good of a team. To me,
- 5:46Speaker 2: I think the Dodgers, I mean the Braves, that lineup
- 5:50Speaker 2: and that bullpen are incredible. Is that enough? Are they
- 5:55Speaker 2: going to be able to go through the tough National
- 5:58Speaker 2: League with that and without anybody but Sale truly in
- 6:04Speaker 2: the rotation as far as a playoff lockdown starter? Elder
- 6:08Speaker 2: pitched pretty well last night. Depending on what happens. With Smith-Schwarver,
- 6:12Speaker 2: Smith-Scharver tonight. I mean, and they have some options, okay?
- 6:15Speaker 1: But their bullpen is so good, especially if they get
- 6:17Speaker 1: Robert Suarez back. Also, they're 3-1 against the Dodgers this year,
- 6:20Speaker 1: which could mean something because if they play each other
- 6:23Speaker 1: in the DS, the Braves have some confidence.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Also, the Dodgers have not scored more than three runs
- 6:27Speaker 2: against the Braves in any game this year. So that
- 6:30Speaker 2: says something.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I mean, is the Braves pitching that bad if they
- 6:33Speaker 1: haven't given up more than three runs to this so-called
- 6:36Speaker 1: unstoppable Dodger offense? And by the way, I mean, tonight
- 6:40Speaker 1: is Suzuki against Smith-Sharver, and then Thursday night is Yamamoto
- 6:44Speaker 1: versus Chris Sale. Those are pretty good matchups coming up.
- 6:48Speaker 2: That's a good matchup. I mean, that's a great matchup.
- 6:50Speaker 2: But again, when you go, I get it. They haven't
- 6:54Speaker 2: given up many runs. I just don't know how Elder–
- 6:59Speaker 2: or Smith-Schauber, or whoever. I guess they won't need a
- 7:04Speaker 2: fourth guy in the five-game series. But you sit there
- 7:08Speaker 2: and you go, sale game one, game five. Now it
- 7:13Speaker 2: looks like the Braves aren't going to– they're going to
- 7:15Speaker 2: definitely be able to have that first-round buy, which is
- 7:19Speaker 2: another reason you need to be able to keep beating
- 7:21Speaker 2: the Dodgers this series. You don't want the Dodgers to
- 7:23Speaker 2: overtake you and take away your buy because that could the.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Dodgers whoa the Dodgers have a better record so the
- 7:30Speaker 1: Braves are gonna have to play the first round by
- 7:33Speaker 1: the Dodgers right I thought the Braves were still ahead
- 7:37Speaker 1: of them no the the Braves are three games behind
- 7:40Speaker 1: the Dodgers so no no right now the Braves are
- 7:43Speaker 1: gonna have to play that first round matchup whoever that
- 7:45Speaker 1: third wild card is I mean so right now that
- 7:48Speaker 1: would be the Padres so right now they'd have to
- 7:51Speaker 1: they'd have to play three games against the Padres. So
- 7:53Speaker 1: Sale's not pitching game one. So you're going to have
- 7:55Speaker 1: Sale game two if they get through that game, right?
- 7:58Speaker 1: So no matter what happens, I mean, the Dodgers are
- 8:02Speaker 1: more than likely going to have home field. It's going
- 8:03Speaker 1: to be the Brewers and the Dodgers with the home field. So,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I mean, you lose Sale for game one more than
- 8:08Speaker 1: likely unless something crazy happens. So then you're counting on
- 8:12Speaker 1: other people to shut down this Dodgers team where the
- 8:14Speaker 1: Dodgers are like, okay, we goofed around. We played the
- 8:17Speaker 1: Reds in the first round last year. We're going to
- 8:19Speaker 1: mess around and we're going to play You know, we're
- 8:21Speaker 1: going to have Snow, Glassnow, Yamamoto ready one, two, three.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And in a five-game series, that's tough to go. And
- 8:26Speaker 1: you've got to start in Dodger Stadium. I mean, the
- 8:28Speaker 1: Braves are going to have to crisscross the country. That's
- 8:31Speaker 1: a tough ask if you get past the Padres.
- 8:34Speaker 2: If you get past the Padres who have the hottest lineup,
- 8:38Speaker 2: not last night, but the hottest lineup in baseball since
- 8:41Speaker 2: the All-Star break. True. I don't know. We'll see. We'll see.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's interesting because– Yes, if the Braves win the next two,
- 8:50Speaker 1: they go 5-1 against the Dodgers.
- 8:52Speaker 2: What does that mean in the postseason? Nothing. You know why?
- 8:56Speaker 1: You know who swept the Dodgers in the regular season
- 8:58Speaker 1: last year? And you know how many games they won
- 9:01Speaker 1: against the Dodgers in the postseason?
- 9:04Speaker 2: Zero. Exactly.
- 9:05Speaker 1: So, listen, the Atlanta schedule gets easier. First the Phillies
- 9:11Speaker 1: are trying to chase them, but they have the Dodgers too.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Then they play Colorado. Then they play San Francisco for
- 9:15Speaker 1: a game. Then they go at Washington. These are all
- 9:18Speaker 1: games that the Braves should do well with. And then
- 9:21Speaker 1: at Philly, okay, that's probably decided the thing. Tampa, Philly again,
- 9:26Speaker 1: at Cubs, and then, you know, at Houston. And then
- 9:28Speaker 1: their last week is Cincinnati and at Miami. So I
- 9:32Speaker 1: think the Braves win this. I think the Braves win
- 9:34Speaker 1: the East. I think they're going to be the three
- 9:36Speaker 1: seed more than likely in the NL, but man, it
- 9:39Speaker 1: stinks if you got to play that first round and
- 9:42Speaker 1: It just puts so much pressure on your team. Three-game series,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you've got to win two out of three. You'd like
- 9:47Speaker 1: to sweep them to save bullpen arms. You'd like to
- 9:49Speaker 1: save them to save your starting pitching. But it's going
- 9:52Speaker 1: to be fun. The National League is going to be
- 9:54Speaker 1: fun this year. And by the way, just a side note, also, Crotty,
- 9:57Speaker 1: Dodgers at Tigers this weekend, and guess who gets to pitch?
- 10:00Speaker 2: Back in Detroit? Terrence Google. Will he get a standing
- 10:03Speaker 2: ovation like he deserves, or will the Tiger fans who
- 10:06Speaker 2: have been attacking me for two weeks now boo him
- 10:09Speaker 2: because they're better off without him in case he mines? No,
- 10:13Speaker 2: that's never going to happen. They're not going to boo
- 10:15Speaker 2: Terrence Gooble. He had nothing to do with them trading him,
- 10:18Speaker 2: nothing to do with the team not extending him, none
- 10:21Speaker 2: of that. But, hey, it's coming down. What you said
- 10:25Speaker 2: about the Braves and not having that– it shows how
- 10:29Speaker 2: much I've paid attention recently because the Dodgers went on
- 10:34Speaker 2: a six-game winning streak and the Braves lost the lead
- 10:40Speaker 2: that I thought they had. I thought they had the
- 10:42Speaker 2: lead over the Dodgers. It's huge. But how many times
- 10:45Speaker 2: do we hear, you don't want the buy. You definitely
- 10:49Speaker 2: want the buy. The Dodgers have had a buy the
- 10:51Speaker 2: entire season, sitting glass now, sitting snell. To be able
- 10:56Speaker 2: to get these guys healthy and ready to go and
- 10:59Speaker 2: be able to set your rotation is huge for the playoffs.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And not having to play that three-game series is even bigger.
- 11:06Speaker 2: And I think that's where it's will be tough without
- 11:09Speaker 2: that rotation depth. It'll be interesting to see how many
- 11:13Speaker 2: games or how many innings you can get out of
- 11:15Speaker 2: that bullpen, which is the best in the game. Yeah,
- 11:19Speaker 2: and by the way, it's Dodgers at Tigers.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Sorry, I didn't mean, I think I said Tigers versus Tigers,
- 11:23Speaker 1: but the Tigers versus the Tigers would be a hell
- 11:25Speaker 1: of a matchup because it could be one team with
- 11:26Speaker 1: Skubal and one team without Skubal.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We'll see which team is better, right? So it's like
- 11:30Speaker 2: MLB the show, make your own team. You're playing the
- 11:33Speaker 2: Tigers versus the Tigers. Pre-trade deadline, post-trade deadline?
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And like I said, they're better. As many people have
- 11:40Speaker 1: let me know, the Tigers are better without Scooble, which
- 11:43Speaker 1: I still don't see. And they're still not winning the Central.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And they're still not going to make the postseason. Sorry,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Tigers fans.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I love you. Love Jason Bonetti. Love their whole skit
- 11:50Speaker 2: they have going on there. Love A.J. Hinch.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Love Scott Harris. But probably not going to be your
- 11:56Speaker 1: year to get to the postseason.
- 11:58Speaker 2: It happens. Everyone has bad years.

- 12:58Speaker 3: slash foul.
- 13:02Speaker 2: All right, let's talk a little more Braves. Mark Bowman,
- 13:04Speaker 2: Hasan Kim, threw first 19 games on Atlanta's roster. Appeared
- 13:08Speaker 2: in four games, totaled 11 innings. 0-3 with a run scored.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Scored as a ghost runner, the Manford man, in 10th
- 13:13Speaker 2: inning win over the Yankees. In RBI, 9th inning ground out,
- 13:16Speaker 2: 10-2 loss, Diamondbacks on August 15th. Jorge Mateos, final 19
- 13:21Speaker 2: games of the Braves, appeared in six and totaled 21 innings,
- 13:23Speaker 2: one for five with a double and stolen base and
- 13:25Speaker 2: a third of a scoreless inning pitch. Kim has not
- 13:27Speaker 2: done that. Mateo was also used sparingly during final weeks
- 13:30Speaker 2: of the Braves. Beyond not wanting to dump a $ 20
- 13:32Speaker 2: million investment, that's now a sunk cost. Keeping Kim never
- 13:37Speaker 2: made sense. So, Hasan Kim, the worst player ever? Cracked
- 13:42Speaker 2: in the history of baseball? Because if you look at
- 13:44Speaker 2: his numbers, his batting average and his production ranks right
- 13:48Speaker 2: up there with the all-time elites.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Man.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I mean, I'm glad I'm on this list. So I
- 13:53Speaker 2: had to go back and look at that season and
- 13:56Speaker 2: how terrible I was that season. I think it's like,
- 13:58Speaker 2: I think he's hitting 066. And I think in my
- 14:05Speaker 2: worst season ever, I hit 094. I knew people who
- 14:10Speaker 2: made $ 20 million, but I didn't make $ 20 million. Is
- 14:13Speaker 2: he the worst ever? I remember that season for myself.
- 14:17Speaker 2: There I am, number five on that list. If you're listening...
- 14:21Speaker 2: I did lead this list of worst players ever in
- 14:25Speaker 2: extra base hits. So I feel like I have that
- 14:28Speaker 2: going for me, but I remember that season and I
- 14:32Speaker 2: remember how awful it was. And to come in as
- 14:35Speaker 2: the guy that you were going to supposed to be
- 14:37Speaker 2: the starting shortstop and Kim, like, I don't know if
- 14:41Speaker 2: I've ever seen a colossal flop like that. I was
- 14:45Speaker 2: filling in when I was playing, but just to be
- 14:48Speaker 2: that guy, I wonder how much that injury in the
- 14:50Speaker 2: offseason when he fell on the ice really affected him.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Austin Hedges is the best hitter in baseball. It's almost September,
- 14:59Speaker 2: and Austin Hedges has been an above-average league hitter. It's crazy. 160, 152, 184, 163,
- 15:04Speaker 2: 178 the last five years, and then whammy this year, 272, 107,
- 15:05Speaker 2: OPS +. The best part of this story, Kratz, is
- 15:07Speaker 2: if you talk to Steven Vogt, He will tell you
- 15:18Speaker 2: every time Austin Hedges makes an out, he comes in
- 15:21Speaker 2: and says, man, I should have crushed that pitch. Man,
- 15:23Speaker 2: that should have been a home run. And this year,
- 15:25Speaker 2: the Hedgehog is actually doing it. He has been a
- 15:30Speaker 2: below average hitter his entire career and an above average human.
- 15:34Speaker 2: He has been on this team because of his leadership,
- 15:38Speaker 2: because of all that stuff. But you know what? He's
- 15:40Speaker 2: getting older. He should be getting better. He's had more
- 15:43Speaker 2: at-bats under his belt, and now he's just– He's coming
- 15:47Speaker 2: into his stride. So the next 10 years for Hedgie
- 15:50Speaker 2: is going to be ridiculous. But good for him. I
- 15:52Speaker 2: love it. It's crazy. It's crazy. And they love him.
- 15:56Speaker 2: They love him.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And everyone said, oh, they have two below average hitters
- 15:59Speaker 1: and catchers once they traded for Patrick Bailey. And two
- 16:03Speaker 1: great framers. Now they have one great framer and one
- 16:06Speaker 1: great hitter. So you never know when your career can turn.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It just happens to have to be the right year.
- 16:11Speaker 2: You have to have the right people talking about you
- 16:13Speaker 2: because Hedgie stinks at framing again this year. So his framing,
- 16:16Speaker 2: I mean, his framing went like this. It went down
- 16:19Speaker 2: and his hitting went up. Once he gets them together,
- 16:22Speaker 2: we're going to see Austin Hedges in the 2027 All-Star Game.
- 16:26Speaker 2: That's you, Hedgie. That would be amazing. I mean, that
- 16:32Speaker 2: would be something. That would be a heck of a
- 16:34Speaker 2: story if Hedgie could pull it all. But we know
- 16:36Speaker 2: Stephen Vo loves them and the Guardians love them. And
- 16:40Speaker 2: they win. One of the things that I wasn't very
- 16:43Speaker 2: good at, well, it's playing Major League Baseball. One of
- 16:47Speaker 2: the things that I'm really good at is sweating. Even

- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm going to say it right, Lorraine, Lorraine, Lorraine Co.
- 17:53Speaker 2: And here it is. You can't really see it, but
- 17:55Speaker 2: we have them. It's kind of, I'm going to try

- 18:05Speaker 2: Lorraine Co. They fix your teeth. They make it, they

- 18:28Speaker 2: Get there and get you some Lorainco. But here's the thing.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Did you see what Mason Miller said last night? He
- 18:33Speaker 2: gave up a homer, which never happens, on his third
- 18:36Speaker 2: best pitch, which he never throws. And here it is.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Craig Salmon on Mason Miller is allowing a ninth inning
- 18:42Speaker 2: home run to O'Neal Cruz. He's human. Miller responded with,
- 18:46Speaker 2: humans can be idiots sometimes. This is one of the
- 18:48Speaker 2: great quotes of all time. You know why?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Because he admitted it. This guy has been unhuman the
- 18:53Speaker 1: entire year. So he made a mistake and he said,
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm an idiot.
- 18:56Speaker 2: But here we go. A.J. Cassaville. Pirates won, Padres zero,
- 19:00Speaker 2: Michael King and Paul Skeen's match zeros before Mason Miller
- 19:03Speaker 2: surrendered his first home run of the season. He is human.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It would prove decisive. The Padres squad are in an
- 19:09Speaker 2: excellent start and will now almost certainly be without Miller.
- 19:12Speaker 2: More at home for Wednesday's finale. Is Mason Miller an idiot?
- 19:17Speaker 3: No.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I mean, thinking about pitch calling, how many times did
- 19:25Speaker 2: I go, This is the time. We're going to throw it.
- 19:29Speaker 2: O'Neal Cruz doesn't hit changeups. Whatever it is, the reality
- 19:33Speaker 2: is it was his third best pitch. And catching 101,
- 19:37Speaker 2: if you've never called a game before and you're behind
- 19:41Speaker 2: the dish, you are told whatever pitch you call, have
- 19:46Speaker 2: a reason for it. Don't get beat. And the second rule,
- 19:51Speaker 2: don't get beat on your third best pitch. I mean,
- 19:55Speaker 2: it's one of those things that if he swings and misses,
- 19:58Speaker 2: we don't even talk about it. It just is another day,
- 20:00Speaker 2: another dominant performance from Mason Miller. But there's a changeup
- 20:05Speaker 2: that hung-ish. It hung, and O'Neal Crews, Can do some things.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I heard people say, you know what, hitters? Hitters drive
- 20:14Speaker 2: Mercedes-Benz too. Or if you're a hitter and a pitcher
- 20:16Speaker 2: gets you out, pitchers drive Mercedes-Benz too. It's a tough game.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And Mason Miller, kind of like we talked about Paul
- 20:24Speaker 2: Skeens before, has set such a high bar that when
- 20:28Speaker 2: you make a mistake and you do look human, like
- 20:31Speaker 2: his manager Craig Stammen said, you know what? It makes
- 20:36Speaker 2: me feel better. It's like when I watch the PGA
- 20:38Speaker 2: Tour and I watch a dude duff a shot on
- 20:41Speaker 2: the PGA Tour. I'm like, okay, it's okay if I
- 20:44Speaker 2: duff a shot. We're all human, and the game is
- 20:47Speaker 2: played by imperfect people. Agreed. Mason Miller needed 30 pitches
- 20:54Speaker 2: to get through the ninth last night. Again, A.J. Cassaville.
- 20:57Speaker 1: He's pitching his fourth game in five days and just
- 20:59Speaker 1: surrendered his first homer of the season in an O'Neal
- 21:01Speaker 1: Cruz laser. Give the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the ninth.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Has Mason Miller ever worked? And then the other thing,
- 21:06Speaker 1: what you said is, yes, never get beat by your
- 21:08Speaker 1: third best pitch. Always go with your best two, especially
- 21:10Speaker 1: if you're Mason Miller and your two pitches are the
- 21:12Speaker 1: best two pitches in probably baseball. I mean, they rank
- 21:15Speaker 1: high as can be in baseball. And then finally, you
- 21:19Speaker 1: never want to get beat in a situation where you
- 21:20Speaker 1: can lose the game like this. And the other thing,
- 21:22Speaker 1: Mason Miller, his changeup is like a below average fastball.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So if you throw it up, O'Neal Cruz is cheating
- 21:29Speaker 1: like hell to the heater. And then all he's got
- 21:31Speaker 1: to do is just take his normal swing and he
- 21:33Speaker 1: clips it out front because he's a little bit out
- 21:34Speaker 1: front and whammy, it's one nothing.
- 21:36Speaker 2: So tough position for Mason Miller. A lot of pitches
- 21:39Speaker 2: for him to throw. I think he'll be okay though.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I think the thing that you said, is he tired?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Is he overused? We can't answer that. All I can
- 21:50Speaker 2: do is I can go to the I can go
- 21:52Speaker 2: to the stats. He has finished the most games. Doesn't
- 21:55Speaker 2: mean he has the most saves in the league, but
- 21:57Speaker 2: he's finished the most games. So as far as compared
- 21:59Speaker 2: to closers, he's being used. But you know what? You're
- 22:04Speaker 2: on a good team. You're on a team that's in
- 22:06Speaker 2: a playoff hunt. That's the reality of it. If he's
- 22:10Speaker 2: used as much as he's got 54 games, 56 innings.
- 22:16Speaker 2: If he's being used and overused... Call Morihone. Call Estrada,
- 22:23Speaker 2: who I know is on the IL. Call the different
- 22:26Speaker 2: guys that they have down in that bullpen because those
- 22:28Speaker 2: guys are being overused more than the closer is any
- 22:32Speaker 2: team you're ever on. So if there's a fear that
- 22:35Speaker 2: the Padres are using Mason Miller too much, then that
- 22:39Speaker 2: vaunted bullpen of the Padres, which I think they're the
- 22:42Speaker 2: second best bullpen in the game, I think numbers-wise the
- 22:46Speaker 2: Braves are better, but I think The Padres' bullpen is
- 22:49Speaker 2: probably scarier just on paper, but the rest of those
- 22:53Speaker 2: dudes are being used. True. Agreed. The Braves have been better,
- 22:58Speaker 2: especially if they get Robert Suarez back, who used to
- 23:01Speaker 2: be a Padre. So we'll see. And Iglesias has been
- 23:03Speaker 2: unbelievable all year. Bella. Bella. Bella. Where? I don't know
- 23:11Speaker 2: where Bella is, but I know how to take care
- 23:13Speaker 2: of my pup.

- 24:05Speaker 2: We talked about this yesterday, Krauts. We're going to go
- 24:07Speaker 2: Diamondbacks Cubs. Tori Lavello apologized yesterday to Craig Council. saying
- 24:13Speaker 2: that the sign relaying by the Cubs coaches in Monday
- 24:16Speaker 2: night's game, this is from Bob Nightingale, was perfectly legal.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Lovello realized the mistake after speaking with MLB Vice President
- 24:23Speaker 2: Michael Hill, saying it was legal.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Now, do you think Michael Hill called Torrey Lovello and said,
- 24:30Speaker 1: this is a little bit much. You guys are screaming
- 24:32Speaker 1: at another team's dugout with cuss words. You're screaming at
- 24:35Speaker 1: the third base coach with cursing words. Do you think
- 24:39Speaker 1: that they were told you have to apologize? And by
- 24:41Speaker 1: the way, nobody said it was illegal what they were doing.
- 24:44Speaker 1: They were just mad they were doing it.
- 24:46Speaker 2: They were saying it was Bush League. Bush League is
- 24:49Speaker 2: not against the rules. Bush League is the hierarchy of, well,
- 24:55Speaker 2: that's just messed up in the game. You're not allowed
- 24:59Speaker 2: to do that. It's Bush League that you, whatever. There's
- 25:03Speaker 2: so many moments like that. And I think the Diamondbacks
- 25:05Speaker 2: felt like they were the police in this moment, and
- 25:08Speaker 2: they got pissed. I mean, they were clearly pissed. I'm
- 25:11Speaker 2: not 100% sure who was next to Jeff Bannister, but
- 25:14Speaker 2: both of them were heated. And they– I don't know
- 25:20Speaker 2: if Michael Hill– do you think the Diamondbacks called Michael
- 25:24Speaker 2: Hill or Michael Hill called the Diamondbacks? I don't know.
- 25:28Speaker 1: That was kind of my question because I think– I
- 25:30Speaker 1: don't think that– why would the Diamondbacks call– Major League
- 25:34Speaker 1: Baseball and say, hey, this guy was in the coaching box.
- 25:37Speaker 1: And whatever you said, he was doing something with his
- 25:38Speaker 1: left hand. He would wiggle his left hand on change-ups
- 25:41Speaker 1: or whatever it is. That's not illegal. When has that
- 25:44Speaker 1: ever been illegal? As long as you're in the coach's box,
- 25:46Speaker 1: you can do whatever you can do. Jump a jacks
- 25:48Speaker 1: in the coach's box. If you think it will help
- 25:50Speaker 1: your team win, that's the way I look. They weren't
- 25:52Speaker 1: bringing any rules.
- 25:53Speaker 2: In my opinion, and I've only been involved with a
- 25:56Speaker 2: little bit of MLB disciplinary things. But I'm sure they
- 26:00Speaker 2: called them. I don't know if he called directly to
- 26:02Speaker 2: Torre Lovello or how it happened, but called them to
- 26:05Speaker 2: make sure there wasn't fisticuffs the next night. Make sure
- 26:08Speaker 2: there wasn't retaliation. And the fact that Torre Lovello apologized
- 26:14Speaker 2: to Craig Council? I don't know. I mean, I guess
- 26:20Speaker 2: all water under the bridge. But there were some heated
- 26:24Speaker 2: moments there. Like they were... they were pissed. Somebody was
- 26:27Speaker 2: stealing signs that nobody was breaking any rules. Quinton Berry
- 26:32Speaker 2: was not breaking any rules. He was within the confines
- 26:35Speaker 2: of the coaches box, which this year, Hey, we're, we're
- 26:40Speaker 2: making sure that's a rule, even though it's been a
- 26:43Speaker 2: rule for decades, probably even longer than that. By the way, um,
- 26:51Speaker 2: First of all, the Diamondbacks came back and beat the
- 26:53Speaker 2: Cubs last night 5-4 after being down 4-0. Palencia and
- 26:57Speaker 2: Webb gave up 5 in the 8th and 9th, so
- 26:59Speaker 2: that was a huge win for the Diamondbacks.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But can you imagine Dusty Baker, Tony La Russa? They
- 27:06Speaker 1: used to go back and forth, right? They're just kind
- 27:08Speaker 1: of an example, Cubs, Cardinals. Can you imagine Tony La
- 27:11Speaker 1: Russa or Dusty Baker calling the other one and saying, hey,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I'm really sorry that I yelled at you across dugout
- 27:18Speaker 1: to dugout last night?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Can you imagine that? I can't see them doing that.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I think there might be some kind of professionalism that
- 27:29Speaker 2: they probably would do it. In this exact case, no. No,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I don't see– I think they both cleared benches the
- 27:37Speaker 2: one time and the players got in the way of
- 27:39Speaker 2: each other to make sure they weren't. And then they
- 27:42Speaker 2: were yelling at each other over like a bunch of
- 27:44Speaker 2: old guys sitting on each other, sitting on opposite boards
- 27:48Speaker 2: and being like, you come across that road and I'll
- 27:50Speaker 2: tell you about my El Camino and you tell me
- 27:53Speaker 2: about your old hip. Like, no, I don't see that.
- 27:58Speaker 2: But it's a different game. It's a different game. And
- 28:02Speaker 2: I think– Michael Hill maybe even wanted to make sure
- 28:06Speaker 2: that Torrey Lovello said something to council so there wasn't
- 28:10Speaker 2: any extra curriculars during the game last night. That's fair.
- 28:18Speaker 2: They're fair. Different game.
- 28:18Speaker 1: By the way, side note, Corbin Burns was up to 93.
- 28:21Speaker 1: in his bridge camp game today, which I don't know
- 28:23Speaker 1: what that means. I'm assuming that means... I don't know
- 28:25Speaker 1: what that is either.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I'm assuming he's with Cattell Marte in Talking Stick. I
- 28:29Speaker 2: don't know what bridge camp means. Maybe he threw to
- 28:32Speaker 2: Cattell Marte. I don't know. He threw 24 pitches.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So pitching in this weekend, perhaps in Reno, if they
- 28:37Speaker 1: don't get fired out because there's bad fires in Reno,
- 28:40Speaker 1: if you haven't seen it, then they'll decide if he
- 28:42Speaker 1: comes off the aisle and continues his buildup at the
- 28:45Speaker 1: major league level.
- 28:46Speaker 2: In that scenario... he might be capped at three innings pitch.
- 28:48Speaker 2: So he might be one of their 28. There are
- 28:50Speaker 2: two guys they get to call up in September and
- 28:53Speaker 2: help them in the stretch run. We'll see.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But first of all, prayers for Reno because if you
- 28:57Speaker 1: haven't seen those fires, they're really bad. And for the
- 29:00Speaker 1: people of Reno, there's been some evacuations and stuff like that.
- 29:02Speaker 1: So baseball is secondary to that. But also, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 1: if he gets to pitch and he comes back, will
- 29:07Speaker 1: he help them? I assume they wouldn't bring him back
- 29:11Speaker 1: if it wasn't going to help them.
- 29:13Speaker 2: But is 93– noteworthy like should we be worried about
- 29:18Speaker 2: him only touching 93 where is he at in that
- 29:21Speaker 2: process and like you said what the heck is a
- 29:24Speaker 2: bridge camp game it's a.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It's a so producer lady came through for once a
- 29:28Speaker 1: bridge camp is in professional baseball is a controlled developmental
- 29:32Speaker 1: environment or simulated game setting used to keep players active
- 29:36Speaker 1: and get live at bats on regular minor league seasons
- 29:39Speaker 1: and or ship so.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's a sim game. It was a sim game. It
- 29:42Speaker 2: was a sim game. Can we just say sim game?
- 29:46Speaker 2: Or are they playing against other teams? Then that would
- 29:50Speaker 2: be a minor league game. Then that would be a
- 29:52Speaker 2: minor league game. But is this the way that Major
- 29:54Speaker 2: League Baseball skirts the, oh, well, we can't have any
- 29:58Speaker 2: more levels, but we're going to keep people in our
- 30:03Speaker 2: spring training complexes, and they're still going to play against
- 30:06Speaker 2: each other, and we're going to call them bridge games.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I've never heard it. How could I have played for
- 30:12Speaker 2: 19 years and not ever heard of a bridge game?
- 30:14Speaker 2: It must– Never heard of it. It has to be
- 30:16Speaker 2: something new.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I've heard of guys going bridge, which means you hit homers,
- 30:19Speaker 1: but I've never heard of a bridge game. So, anyways– Yeah, you.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Learn something new every day. Thanks, Producer Lady.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I also learned how to say Kurt Hoji's name.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Baseball fans, it's time to lock in. Lorraine.co. Remineralizing patches
- 30:33Speaker 2: are nicotine-free and made with powerful non-tropics to keep you
- 30:37Speaker 2: mentally sharp while supporting your teeth. Go to Lorraine.com and
- 30:41Speaker 2: use code FT10 at checkout for 10% off. All right,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Jason Beck says, this wasn't a typo or stat cast quirk.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Jackson Jobe really was throwing his curveballs 85 to 87
- 30:52Speaker 2: miles per hour after tinkering with it just yesterday.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Curveball was very big for me. That's something I've been
- 30:58Speaker 1: struggling with. Seeing what it did today, it kind of
- 31:01Speaker 1: turned into a real weapon. Krauts, wouldn't you just call
- 31:03Speaker 1: that a slider? And wouldn't you call that a slider
- 31:06Speaker 1: or slurve?
- 31:06Speaker 2: Not a curveball. Most curveballs aren't that hard. Jackson Jobe
- 31:09Speaker 2: had a nice outing, only went four and a third,
- 31:11Speaker 2: did not get the win, but kept the Tigers in
- 31:13Speaker 2: it so they could win the game four to one.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But wouldn't you call a hard, we used to call
- 31:16Speaker 2: like a hard curveball like this, more of a slur
- 31:19Speaker 2: than a curve ball, just different terminology maybe? Different terminology.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I don't know how you get a true curve ball
- 31:26Speaker 2: that's going to be spinning in this direction to be
- 31:30Speaker 2: thrown at 85 miles an hour, 87 miles an hour. So,
- 31:34Speaker 2: you know, he threw a slower slider. I don't know,
- 31:39Speaker 2: but obviously it registers as his curveball, and he called
- 31:44Speaker 2: it his curveball. So how many times did you get
- 31:46Speaker 2: a guy who's like, yeah, I got a curveball, and
- 31:49Speaker 2: you put down two, and you catch the pitch the
- 31:51Speaker 2: first time, and you're like, It's probably a slider, but okay,
- 31:54Speaker 2: you can call it a curveball. That's fine. So I
- 31:57Speaker 2: don't know if that's the case, but that's a major jump.
- 32:00Speaker 2: And I'm fearful of a guy who's missed a lot
- 32:03Speaker 2: of time in his career, is young, and now he's
- 32:05Speaker 2: throwing just this rip it pitch at such a high velocity.
- 32:11Speaker 2: What's the longevity for him? Success today doesn't always equal
- 32:15Speaker 2: success for 10 years.
- 32:17Speaker 1: And by the way, I mean, his slider was 90.6 yesterday.
- 32:21Speaker 1: So it's curveball, 85.1. Fastball, four-seamer, 97.1. So, I mean,
- 32:27Speaker 1: there's Velo in the tank there for him.
- 32:28Speaker 2: All right, SeatGeek. SeatGeek, here we are.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Grats, you and I, we're not going to look at
- 32:35Speaker 1: today's matchups, okay? Because it's kind of middle of the week.
- 32:38Speaker 1: We're going to look at tomorrow's matchup, which will be Thursday.
- 32:41Speaker 1: And some of them you can get to because there's
- 32:42Speaker 1: a lot of day games today. But tomorrow you can
- 32:45Speaker 1: actually get to these games and you can buy a
- 32:47Speaker 1: ticket on SeatGeek and you can pick out.
- 32:49Speaker 2: The best seat. You can watch Garrett Cole in the Bronx.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Where's the Astros? We all know the Yankees-Astros matchup. You
- 32:54Speaker 2: know that, Kratz.
- 32:55Speaker 3: You know that.
- 32:55Speaker 2: You were a part of it when they were cheating, right?
- 32:59Speaker 2: And they beat the Yankees. They were kind of their nemesis.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Or you can watch the Miz, who we just talked
- 33:04Speaker 1: about with Kurt Hoji, pitching in Queens against the Mets.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Or, last but not least, I'm going to be here.
- 33:09Speaker 2: You can watch Yamamoto.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Versus Chris Sale as the Dodgers take on the Braves
- 33:14Speaker 1: in Atlanta at Truist.
- 33:15Speaker 2: There's some good matchups. Where are you going? I feel
- 33:19Speaker 2: like that's– I mean, I feel like I'm going to
- 33:21Speaker 2: see the Miz in Queens. But, I mean, your matchup is–
- 33:26Speaker 2: you better check now. But as soon as you're hearing this,
- 33:28Speaker 2: you need to check SeatGeek right now because I don't
- 33:31Speaker 2: know if the Braves, Dodgers, if there's any more tickets left.
- 33:34Speaker 2: If there is, I would be super surprised because, one,
- 33:38Speaker 2: the Braves are playing well. Two, you get two of
- 33:42Speaker 2: the best pitchers in the game. And three– Brave fans,
- 33:46Speaker 2: you've got to come out and make sure your team
- 33:48Speaker 2: beats up on the Dodgers here, or else maybe you're
- 33:52Speaker 2: just kind of fair-weather playoff fans waiting until they show up.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Or you can wait a day, and you can buy
- 34:00Speaker 2: three tickets to the Red Sox-Yankees all this weekend. So
- 34:04Speaker 2: look ahead to those, too. True.
- 34:06Speaker 1: And don't forget, Friday, if you're really feeling frisky, you
- 34:09Speaker 1: can go to Detroit and watch Tarek Skubal pitch in
- 34:12Speaker 1: Detroit for the Dodgers as game– Or you can come
- 34:15Speaker 1: to my game Saturday, Red Sox at Yankees, second game
- 34:19Speaker 1: of a doubleheader. So you can get two games in
- 34:21Speaker 1: one day in New York, in the Bronx. So you
- 34:23Speaker 1: get two green dots instead of two red dots, right?
- 34:26Speaker 1: So you can make it all happen this weekend. It's
- 34:30Speaker 1: some great matchups, and SeatGeek will provide them for you.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Use the code TERRITORY10 for 10% off all MLB tickets
- 34:37Speaker 1: on SeatGeek. That's 10% off MLB tickets with promo code TERRITORY10.
- 34:55Speaker 2: All right.
- 34:55Speaker 1: We're back here. Slap hands real quick. Dylan Cease's painting
- 34:58Speaker 1: is now on display. If you hadn't seen it, it
- 34:59Speaker 1: was pretty cool in the art gallery of Ontario. And
- 35:03Speaker 1: instead in the corner of John Schneider's office, it is
- 35:05Speaker 1: a wedding crashers meme that now hangs in John Schneider's,
- 35:08Speaker 1: which is, you know, Todd and Vince Vaughn. And if
- 35:12Speaker 1: you haven't seen the movie, it's hilarious, but that was
- 35:14Speaker 1: a gift Todd. The painting was a gift. You don't
- 35:16Speaker 1: get it back. There's Dylan Cease's painting, which is now
- 35:19Speaker 1: in the art gallery, which is kind of cool.
- 35:24Speaker 2: That's so cool. He's professional in more than one realm
- 35:28Speaker 2: of life. And disc golf, too. He's really good at
- 35:32Speaker 2: disc golf? Mm-hmm. Loves it. Oh, he loves it or
- 35:36Speaker 2: is he good at it? I'm assuming he's both. And
- 35:39Speaker 2: he's got a great mustache. He does have a pro mustache, but, man,
- 35:44Speaker 2: I hope that elbow doesn't hurt when you're really extending out.
- 35:48Speaker 1: That's why I think he only does it in the offseason.
- 35:50Speaker 1: By the way, Kratz hats, I know it's a White
- 35:52Speaker 1: Sox hat.
- 35:52Speaker 2: You don't have to turn it around. It's awesome. Best
- 35:53Speaker 2: hat of the year. We know it is. It's got
- 35:58Speaker 2: to be a White Sox. Oh, never mind. Put that
- 36:00Speaker 2: thing back on. We don't want to see it. Never mind.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Just kidding. All right, we'll see you tomorrow. Scott, hurry
- 36:05Speaker 2: back from wherever you are, and everyone, we'll see you
- 36:08Speaker 2: guys tomorrow. Thanks for watching.
