- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm Wednesday thirteen, and I am I'm me, and I
- 0:24Speaker 1: got a brand new record coming out of April twenty fifth,
- 0:26Speaker 1: called Mid Death Crisis, and I'm here to talk about
- 0:29Speaker 1: it and answer all the.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Questions you have about me and what the future holds.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Fantastic Wednesday, Thanks for joining us on Tuesday.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yes, that's always odd to do that.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Every time on stage, I'm battling a calendar constantly.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's a story of my life.
- 0:49Speaker 3: So, as you said, we're here to talk about your
- 0:51Speaker 3: tenth studio album, Mid Death Crisis, which comes out on
- 0:54Speaker 3: April twenty fifth. How you feeling mine.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You're confident, very confident.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Uh, And I sung usual feeling to have in quite
- 1:04Speaker 1: some time, because my last few albums I put out,
- 1:08Speaker 1: I wasn't I mean, I was confident in the music
- 1:10Speaker 1: I did. Wasn't confident or I didn't know if the
- 1:13Speaker 1: audience was gonna like it as much as I liked it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And Uh, when I was experimenting from like the Condolences record,
- 1:18Speaker 1: Neckar Phase, all those records I look back now in
- 1:21Speaker 1: my career, those are the experimental records now, because I
- 1:23Speaker 1: did some different things with it, and those were ones
- 1:26Speaker 1: I took some chances, and I wasn't sure if the
- 1:28Speaker 1: audience would like them, but they did. But this is
- 1:31Speaker 1: the one record where I feel pretty confident that they're
- 1:35Speaker 1: gonna like it. Like I know, it's I hit all
- 1:37Speaker 1: the bases with what I was trying to go for
- 1:41Speaker 1: and and I fulfilled myself on So.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I know I did that, and I just I feel
- 1:45Speaker 2: confident with the fans are gonna We're gonna love it.
- 1:48Speaker 4: No.
- 1:48Speaker 3: The press release tolds that I returned to his hard
- 1:51Speaker 3: rock roots. Would would you agree?
- 1:54Speaker 2: I think so?
- 1:55Speaker 1: I mean, considering like I just explained, you know, from
- 1:59Speaker 1: the two thousand in sixteen twenty seventeen era of the band,
- 2:02Speaker 1: we were definitely playing heavier music and it was a
- 2:06Speaker 1: lot of fun to experiment with that. But after COVID
- 2:10Speaker 1: and everything, I had a little time to look back
- 2:12Speaker 1: on my career. I just twenty years of doing Wednesday thirteen,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I just kind of looked at the whole career
- 2:18Speaker 1: and went, well.
- 2:19Speaker 2: What do you like best of all this?
- 2:20Speaker 1: I did all this shit too, I got it, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: my fans got their version of what they like the best,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and I went, well, what do I like this? And
- 2:27Speaker 1: I started looking at all and I went well, where
- 2:29Speaker 1: I started was the most honest and real place for me,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and that seemed natural, and I kind of went back
- 2:35Speaker 1: to that look and I went back to that sound,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and it was easy to do without trying, so to speak,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and it just felt right. And it's more a hard
- 2:45Speaker 1: rock record than it is a metal record. But again,
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's not just like I tried to imitate my first
- 2:51Speaker 1: record or anything.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It still is just it's in the same.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Spirit and I feel good about it like I did
- 2:55Speaker 1: on that first record. I feel like everything is going
- 2:58Speaker 1: affording to plan.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I'll go to agree with you, bro, because I reckon.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I'll probably listened to it four times since yesterday when
- 3:03Speaker 3: I started writing these questions, and it's just it's just
- 3:06Speaker 3: something driving and solid about the whole album. But there's
- 3:09Speaker 3: a bit of electronics start on in their tree, but
- 3:11Speaker 3: they blend well together on this one. It's just a
- 3:13Speaker 3: really good up champo, good vibe album.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It's fun, it's fast.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's like I explained today, it's like a it's like
- 3:22Speaker 1: a good rollercoaster. Right, you get on it, it's super fast,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you go down the hill, it spits you.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Out and you go all right.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I want you got to get and you listen to
- 3:29Speaker 1: it four times and it's just it, and it feels
- 3:31Speaker 1: like a live record in a way, because the record
- 3:34Speaker 1: ends the way I would end the live show.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It's not just your typical ending of a song. It's
- 3:38Speaker 2: just got uh.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And and there's even a side two to this record,
- 3:42Speaker 1: so if you listen to it in the vinyl form,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you hear a side too. You hear it the way
- 3:46Speaker 1: I wanted people to hear this record. I thought about it,
- 3:49Speaker 1: like there is a side too that the side one
- 3:51Speaker 1: ends that everything is planned on this record, and I
- 3:55Speaker 1: carefully planned it, and I'm just I'm happy with it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And uh again, I think.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think I knocked it out of the park on
- 4:03Speaker 1: this and without him it, without doing exactly what I
- 4:06Speaker 1: did in the first album, I hit all the basis.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think I touched on everything I've done in my
- 4:10Speaker 1: career and summed it up in this record, because, like
- 4:13Speaker 1: you said, there's some there's some electronic kind of almost
- 4:15Speaker 1: sounding stuff like with Deceased and Desists, like almost kind
- 4:18Speaker 1: of has that vibe to it, and then the rest
- 4:20Speaker 1: of the record's kind of a hard rock record.
- 4:22Speaker 2: When you get to zant.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Ecstasy it and that it's just, uh, it's everything I
- 4:26Speaker 1: wanted to do in a record. That it's everything I
- 4:28Speaker 1: think represents my sound over the last twenty years.
- 4:33Speaker 3: And you released a single when the Devil Commands as
- 4:35Speaker 3: the lead single. Made it it's a catchyest fucked omping trend.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I could almost see that on the radio. But well, boy,
- 4:41Speaker 3: did you choose that song to represent the album?
- 4:45Speaker 2: I didn't necessarily.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I mean, that's the first take everyone gets for the record,
- 4:49Speaker 1: so I don't know if it was just I knew
- 4:51Speaker 1: it was a good song. I knew it was catchy,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I knew I knew my fans would like it. But
- 4:55Speaker 1: I also knew people that didn't know the band could
- 4:58Speaker 1: hear that and go, who is that? That's catchy as fuck?
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's what is they thirteen? That's what they sound like.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It just I think it appealed to a bigger audience,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and that's why I went with that as the first single,
- 5:08Speaker 1: because I knew my fans are like it. But I knew,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I knew I was somebody else's favorite band. They just
- 5:12Speaker 1: didn't know it yet un till they heard it. And
- 5:15Speaker 1: so the first single was planned that way to get
- 5:17Speaker 1: a audience maybe that wouldn't normally listen to me. Whereas
- 5:21Speaker 1: the second single in Misery is I couldn't have planned
- 5:23Speaker 1: it better for the fans, like it is silver platter
- 5:26Speaker 1: delivered when say, thirteen graveyards spookiness. It's great and I
- 5:32Speaker 1: foe of my favorite videos and we've made and the
- 5:35Speaker 1: song itself is just I'm just happy with it. So
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm doing everything the way I want it right now. Now.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm sure there's more of the story than this might
- 5:44Speaker 3: But did I read correctly that somehow the thought of
- 5:47Speaker 3: scaring your mother came into the picture when you heard
- 5:49Speaker 3: the lyrics. So when the devil commands.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yes, it's a fun thing.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You know, I love my mom, But I grew up
- 5:57Speaker 1: during the Satanic Panic of the eighties, when you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: the parents were fearing that their kids were listening to
- 6:03Speaker 1: demonic music. You played it backwards and I was, you know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I was part of that, and my mom was checking
- 6:07Speaker 1: my cassettes and making sure there was no you know,
- 6:11Speaker 1: demons on it, and uh, and I just thought it
- 6:13Speaker 1: would be funny if I could, you know, the idea
- 6:17Speaker 1: of going back in time and planting a CD for
- 6:20Speaker 1: my mom to find, like if she could look to
- 6:21Speaker 1: my motley crew and guns and roses and poison and
- 6:24Speaker 1: then go what is this? And if she would have
- 6:26Speaker 1: opened it up, and like if you could have wrote
- 6:28Speaker 1: the lyrics out for her where she would understand it
- 6:30Speaker 1: perfectly and just terrify her. And that's kind of what
- 6:33Speaker 1: those lyrics are. And then uh, I just kind of
- 6:36Speaker 1: went with that. I thought that was a you know
- 6:38Speaker 1: that because most bands back then they were being accused
- 6:40Speaker 1: of it. We're like, no, no, no, we're not. We're
- 6:42Speaker 1: not those kind of bands. We don't do that. I
- 6:44Speaker 1: thought would be funny to be like, yes we are
- 6:46Speaker 1: singing about that. Yes, we are trying to possess your children.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yes everything you heard is true. We are the devil.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And I just wanted to do that from so to me,
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's a fun tongue in cheek song and uh, that's
- 7:00Speaker 1: all I wanted to achieve with that and a mission
- 7:02Speaker 1: to accomplish.
- 7:03Speaker 3: You're right there to you know, bro. Like I remember
- 7:05Speaker 3: back when I was at school, I was living with
- 7:06Speaker 3: a friend. I was sort of downstairs and they had
- 7:08Speaker 3: the house upstairs, and I got kicked out because I
- 7:10Speaker 3: was playing Number of the Beast by I had Maiden
- 7:12Speaker 3: and they could hear it upstairs, and the doorter thought
- 7:14Speaker 3: she was being possessed by the music. And I got
- 7:17Speaker 3: kicked out the next day to listening to that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you realize then is how powerful music is.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And I realized I haven't looked.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah that that kind of that that panic created me.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Are always bro.
- 7:34Speaker 3: You've got great song titles like running Away, they're sick
- 7:36Speaker 3: and violent, even the album title mid Death Prices. How
- 7:40Speaker 3: does your brain work, mate? Like, did those song titles
- 7:42Speaker 3: come easy to you? Or do you sort of have
- 7:43Speaker 3: to think about them and come up with something that call?
- 7:47Speaker 2: The best ones are the easiest ones.
- 7:48Speaker 1: If I put too much thought in it, it just
- 7:50Speaker 1: gets away from the whole point. It's meant to be
- 7:52Speaker 1: mindless and just off the cuff. I get all this
- 7:57Speaker 1: from the Adams family. It's all back in the day.
- 8:00Speaker 1: They just always did themes like everything was that it
- 8:03Speaker 1: was a fun take on a word, you know, like
- 8:04Speaker 1: when you go or the old famous monster magazines. They
- 8:08Speaker 1: would have all the narration in the magazine. They would
- 8:10Speaker 1: use phrases like ooh next next month and this spooky
- 8:14Speaker 1: magazine right around the coroner is and I'm like, oh,
- 8:18Speaker 1: it's like they would take words and stretch it. So
- 8:20Speaker 1: I just sort of became fixated on taking words and
- 8:24Speaker 1: I just that became a wordsmith with that kind of
- 8:27Speaker 1: morbid twisting words, and uh, that's just been sort of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the thing that I think kind of makes me what
- 8:33Speaker 1: I am Wednesday thirteen is taking words and just twisting
- 8:36Speaker 1: them around. Like our song Decease and Desist, is that
- 8:39Speaker 1: they go on cease and desists.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Uh, you know.
- 8:41Speaker 1: So it's just, uh, it's always fun, and it always
- 8:43Speaker 1: starts with a simple, simple thought and that's usually what
- 8:47Speaker 1: keeps it.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Like overthinking for me doesn't work.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeahine man, you know one of the few bands a
- 8:53Speaker 3: few artists might like when an album comes in and
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'm going to listen to it, I actually look through
- 8:57Speaker 3: the song titles first, just to see what they are
- 8:59Speaker 3: because I know they're gonna be fucking.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Awesome, thank you.
- 9:03Speaker 1: And then that's always been important to me too, like
- 9:05Speaker 1: when I go when I used to go look for records,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'd be in the record store and I would look
- 9:10Speaker 1: at the cover and that was important. It's something that
- 9:13Speaker 1: you know, if you flipped it over and if the
- 9:15Speaker 1: song titles were as cool as the album cover.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You knew you were going to go home and hear
- 9:19Speaker 2: something amazing.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And I always put myself as the fan doing that
- 9:24Speaker 1: same thing. I want them to look at the cover
- 9:26Speaker 1: and go whoa.
- 9:28Speaker 2: And then just lose their mind in it.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And that's what I and that's what I did here
- 9:33Speaker 1: and again I've been successfully done it ten times now
- 9:36Speaker 1: with my Wednesday thirteen.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and even the album My Life. It's nice, I say,
- 9:41Speaker 3: these monsters. It's it's an eerie passage filled with between
- 9:44Speaker 3: industrial nuances, and it sets the scene for the whole album,
- 9:48Speaker 3: like it reminds me of a Vincent price pase. It's
- 9:50Speaker 3: just sort of sets them right up and it just
- 9:53Speaker 3: hits you on edge.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I think after it's all together and you see the
- 9:58Speaker 1: imagery and you hear the intro and you listen to
- 10:01Speaker 1: it the way I I painted the picture for it,
- 10:04Speaker 1: it feels like for me when I was, you know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: in the eighties, on the weekends, I would go to
- 10:08Speaker 1: the video store and I would go in the weekend,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you'd pick four or five movies, or if it was
- 10:13Speaker 1: the weekend, you'd get ten movies for the weekend. And
- 10:16Speaker 1: that's like ten songs, ten movies you know, it's and
- 10:19Speaker 1: and you went in quick.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You watch them as fast as you could.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You wow, something you watched a couple of times or
- 10:24Speaker 1: if you could, and you took them back and it was.
- 10:27Speaker 3: That was it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: You couldn't wait till next week and do it again.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And it's just like that's what I feel like this
- 10:32Speaker 1: record is. It's just it's it's fun like that. It
- 10:34Speaker 1: reminds me of of my youth, and I hope that
- 10:37Speaker 1: that people can find some kind of thing with this
- 10:41Speaker 1: in their time, you know, where they're go, oh man, this,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you know, twenty years from now, they'll be like, this
- 10:44Speaker 1: record reminds me of that.
- 10:45Speaker 2: So yeah, it's just it's, uh, it's important to.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Me to paint the whole the whole picture with everything, titles, videos, everything.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got to chime down from faster pushy Cat
- 10:58Speaker 3: providing vitals on the truck now. Apologies as far as
- 11:01Speaker 3: I know, I hope I'm writing sand you see. You
- 11:03Speaker 3: don't know if and I gets out on you aba.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Not very often, And that's not because I don't.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I just when I make a record, most of the time,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'm so involved in it. I don't have the luxury
- 11:14Speaker 1: or time to go. Oh, let's get this guy on
- 11:17Speaker 1: with this particular theme. Tamy has been a friend of
- 11:21Speaker 1: mine for years. We we recently toured in Australia and
- 11:27Speaker 1: we were in the studio and I literally brought that
- 11:29Speaker 1: song in and we were recording it and I was
- 11:33Speaker 1: doing the guitars on it, and our producer Alex said,
- 11:37Speaker 1: this has a Faster pussy Cat vibe to it to me,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and I said, yeah, I can hear that. And we
- 11:43Speaker 1: played the song again and again, and the more we
- 11:45Speaker 1: kept we started calling it the Faster Pussycat song. And
- 11:48Speaker 1: then he said, you should get Tamy to sing on this,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and I said, yeah, that'd be cool.
- 11:54Speaker 2: And I just literally.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Texted him and asked him and he said I would
- 11:56Speaker 1: love to do it, and he was there in a
- 11:58Speaker 1: couple of days and we tracked.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It and and the rest is history. It was.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It was a great experience for me and and and
- 12:04Speaker 1: and being a big fan of Faster Pussycat as a kid.
- 12:07Speaker 1: When I was eleven years old, I had their cassette.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And when I first when I got my first guitar,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I didn't know how to play guitar, and someone gave
- 12:14Speaker 1: me a Faster Pussycat tablature book and showed me how
- 12:18Speaker 1: to read tablisher and I learned their entire first album,
- 12:21Speaker 1: Nope for Nor, learned how to play lead guitar from
- 12:24Speaker 1: their album. And and here you flash forward to me
- 12:29Speaker 1: and now he's singing on my record. So it's a
- 12:31Speaker 1: it's an important thing. So it's not just having a
- 12:33Speaker 1: guest like my friend. This is like, this is important
- 12:35Speaker 1: as having Alice Cooper on my record, because I give Tamy,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I credit him for When I saw Faster pussy Cat,
- 12:42Speaker 1: he was wearing hats like this, big glasses and he
- 12:45Speaker 1: and and he dyed his hair black, and I was
- 12:46Speaker 1: just like, that was the look that I had. And
- 12:49Speaker 1: someone showed me a picture the other day at my
- 12:51Speaker 1: first band I was signing at the meetre yesterday and
- 12:54Speaker 1: it's and I'm sixteen or seventeen in this photo, and
- 12:57Speaker 1: I have the same look.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I'm like that was And.
- 13:01Speaker 1: It started with me seeing Faster Pussycat seeing Tamy do
- 13:04Speaker 1: that look, because he went from the blonde haired guy
- 13:07Speaker 1: and overnight he was the goth guy. And I was
- 13:10Speaker 1: just like, whoa, he went from positive to like negative
- 13:13Speaker 1: in that and I just liked that look, and I
- 13:15Speaker 1: copied it when I was in high school, and here
- 13:18Speaker 1: I am forty eight years old, still.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Doing that's going to be a special vibent if you
- 13:22Speaker 3: recording the song with someone that's got that much meaning
- 13:24Speaker 3: to you.
- 13:25Speaker 1: No, it was it's really cool and and uh yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's just a really really cool thing. And any fan
- 13:31Speaker 1: of Faster Pussycat that that's like their music over the years,
- 13:35Speaker 1: and they're gonna love this song. It is like super charged,
- 13:39Speaker 1: super Charge Faster pussy Cat.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It's it's awesome.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Oh well, there's there's one now more quite. I found
- 13:45Speaker 3: interesting in the press release man and it said that
- 13:47Speaker 3: the album features music in Charlie written by Wednesday thirteen.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Does that mean you write all the the instruments and
- 13:54Speaker 3: the lyrics? So is it just do you normally not
- 13:56Speaker 3: write the whole thing yourself?
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, the reason that I think that it's said that
- 14:00Speaker 1: maybe it wasn't explained like fully in detail. It wasn't
- 14:03Speaker 1: like I gotta do this by myself or anything. My
- 14:06Speaker 1: very first Wednesday thirteen record, when I did that on
- 14:08Speaker 1: my own, like I didn't really have a plan. Murder
- 14:11Speaker 1: Dolls came to a halt. I went in my basement
- 14:14Speaker 1: and I just started writing songs. And then I did
- 14:17Speaker 1: a Wednesday thirteen tour in the UK, just playing my
- 14:19Speaker 1: Franke sign drag and stuff, and it was packed and
- 14:22Speaker 1: I had a lot of fans, and I went I
- 14:24Speaker 1: could maybe go solo, and I just did it.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It just wasn't it just started piecing it together. I
- 14:29Speaker 2: didn't have a band. I wrote the music, I did
- 14:31Speaker 2: the recording.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I had a drummer come in do the drums, and
- 14:35Speaker 1: I played every instrument on that first album. I played bass,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I played lead, guitar, rhythm, guitar, vocals and everything on
- 14:41Speaker 1: that record. I did it by myself, and I was
- 14:43Speaker 1: when I was done with it, so proud of it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I look back on it twenty years later and like,
- 14:47Speaker 1: that's that's the one I put on the top of
- 14:49Speaker 1: the mountain. So when it came time to write this record,
- 14:53Speaker 1: this was the first album I have done without my
- 14:55Speaker 1: longtime guitarist for mine, who's been in the band for
- 14:58Speaker 1: years and years, and I went, well, can I still
- 15:02Speaker 1: do this? I did it twenty years ago on my own,
- 15:04Speaker 1: Can I do it again? So I wanted to see
- 15:08Speaker 1: to challenge myself, to see if I could write the
- 15:10Speaker 1: poor of these songs, like I did, you know? And
- 15:13Speaker 1: then when I got together with the band, of course
- 15:15Speaker 1: I did the arrangements. All right, well, here's the structure,
- 15:17Speaker 1: here's the chorus, here's the verse, and then we worked
- 15:19Speaker 1: the parts house.
- 15:20Speaker 2: My band was very involved in the recording, but as
- 15:22Speaker 2: far as the.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Putting the song together, it was important for me to
- 15:27Speaker 1: go back because I didn't have any help in the beginning,
- 15:29Speaker 1: and I wanted to see if I could still do it.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And I I think I did it.
- 15:34Speaker 3: You did it. That That makes a lot more sense
- 15:35Speaker 3: now because I'm reading to thinking what does it mean
- 15:38Speaker 3: he get it? In Charlie by himself? Does he normally
- 15:40Speaker 3: get gets right for him?
- 15:43Speaker 2: No, I think I don't know.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It's just a short way. They shortened what I said.
- 15:48Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, it's like, my band's very important,
- 15:50Speaker 1: a live thing. I think when you see the band,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you see it live. It doesn't come off or it's
- 15:55Speaker 1: just oh, it's it's a band. I'm always liked that vibe.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I like all my favorite things are bands. Motley Prue
- 16:01Speaker 1: was his sister. Washed that was something I you know,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I may have looked at the front front guy because
- 16:06Speaker 1: that's what I wanted to be, but I liked it
- 16:07Speaker 1: as a band.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I like it to come off that way.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But yeah, like I said, it was literally just me
- 16:11Speaker 1: trying to go back to what I did twenty years
- 16:13Speaker 1: ago and see if I could steal pull it off
- 16:15Speaker 1: by myself.
- 16:16Speaker 3: No, you're fucking now the brother you fucking now to think,
- 16:19Speaker 3: thank you, thank you well, I said. The big difference
- 16:21Speaker 3: by like, since we're spiking a futures now, but since
- 16:25Speaker 3: I spoked to you last time to now, I've introduced
- 16:27Speaker 3: a section called fighter Bomb, where basically I'll try for
- 16:30Speaker 3: you social media before we talk and I'll come up
- 16:33Speaker 3: with the said I want to know a bit more
- 16:34Speaker 3: about So this one.
- 16:37Speaker 2: First, okay, yeah, this is uh.
- 16:46Speaker 1: This would be August two thousand and two, Murder Doll's
- 16:51Speaker 1: first trip to Japan and we were playing a thing
- 16:57Speaker 1: called Summer Sonic, and that my first trip in Japan
- 17:01Speaker 1: and we played on the main stage. Guns of Roses
- 17:04Speaker 1: was the headliner, So it was literally my first time.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, we did a couple of club shows in
- 17:10Speaker 1: America and the first big show with Murder Dolls two
- 17:13Speaker 1: weeks into it was that festival. Now, I was so
- 17:18Speaker 1: excited because Hanoi Rocks was on it, and that was
- 17:20Speaker 1: their first show back as a band, and I wore
- 17:24Speaker 1: their T shirt till it fell off of me.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I wore it so much in high school.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And to be able to be on a bill with
- 17:29Speaker 1: them or get to meet them, I was so excited,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and I was probably more excited to meet them and.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I was to play the show.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And I immediately ran over and struck up a conversation
- 17:38Speaker 1: with Michael Monroe, and I've been friends with him ever
- 17:41Speaker 1: since then, and Andy McCoy too.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I've had so many stories.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I could keep you on the air for hours telling
- 17:47Speaker 1: you of the experiences I've had with.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Hanoi From then I tour.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I did Hanoi Rock's Farewell tour in Japan in two
- 17:55Speaker 1: thousand and nine as Wednesday thirteen, and then I did
- 17:58Speaker 1: Michael Monroe. He played with Winnesday thirteen in twenty eleven.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So it's a big, a big history with him. He's
- 18:04Speaker 1: such a huge influence on what on what I do.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I think he is by far one of the greatest
- 18:11Speaker 1: front men. Uh oh, and he's still is. He puts
- 18:15Speaker 1: me to shame.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I only hope one day to get as good as him.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I learned from that.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Guy asking sign and now that this next one it
- 18:25Speaker 3: might just look like a statue to my st faith
- 18:27Speaker 3: that there's a hell of a story on Mike, can
- 18:29Speaker 3: you run a through?
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:31Speaker 1: That was Murder Doll's first big award. That was for
- 18:36Speaker 1: Metal Hammer Magazine UK. We won Best Newcomer of the
- 18:40Speaker 1: Year and that was the first time winning an award
- 18:43Speaker 1: and walking up to a podium to give a speech.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And I think I only think I talked. I think
- 18:49Speaker 2: Joey did all the talking. And uh. And after the
- 18:52Speaker 2: after we received that award.
- 18:53Speaker 1: We we we only got one of the awards, so
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know, to split.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It up between five dudes.
- 18:58Speaker 1: We knew that wasn't going to happen and I will
- 19:00Speaker 1: be all right, Well Joey would get the award, but
- 19:02Speaker 1: we thought and then we ended up giving that award
- 19:05Speaker 1: to our publicist, Michelle, who.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Broke the band in the UK.
- 19:08Speaker 1: She worked so hard and she got us in all
- 19:10Speaker 1: the magazines and she became like a sister to me
- 19:13Speaker 1: over the years and she and she passed away last year.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And when I went to the UK on this last tour,
- 19:20Speaker 1: a friend of hers came out to the show and
- 19:22Speaker 1: brought me that award that we had given to her
- 19:25Speaker 1: twenty years.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Ago, and so now I have that award back.
- 19:28Speaker 1: So it's just kind of a it even means a
- 19:31Speaker 1: little more now because it was given to her and
- 19:33Speaker 1: now I've got it back my profession. So that was
- 19:35Speaker 1: a that was a really that it's it's got twice
- 19:38Speaker 1: the meaning of it now.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Just giving me fucking Gates Pomps bride us awesome. Yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 3: men say well, thanks for Tom Bright pleasure as always.
- 19:48Speaker 3: The album Mid Death Process is out at twenty fifth
- 19:50Speaker 3: and I'll be in a long time Wednesday than ain't
- 19:53Speaker 3: fan and this is already my favorite album Bright.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So well done, and thank you, Thank you man. That
- 19:58Speaker 2: means a lot.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I know you've been listening for for a while, and uh,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I can just tell. Like I said, when you said
- 20:03Speaker 1: my confident about this, I went, it's because the guys
- 20:05Speaker 1: like you. When I see yours, I don't know, and
- 20:07Speaker 1: I'm like, I think they're gonna like it, but I.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Can I can tell. So thank you. It means a lot.
