- 0:23Speaker 1: So this episode is a very special Horror Club episode
- 0:28Speaker 1: for exclusive Horror Club members only. And you could be that.
- 0:33Speaker 1: If you're not, you're doing this wrong. So one of
- 0:37Speaker 1: the big benefits is that you get to pick one
- 0:40Speaker 1: of the movies we're going to talk about in the
- 0:42Speaker 1: upcoming future world. And if not, we're left with choosing
- 0:47Speaker 1: our own. Now, if you've been following along, not that
- 0:51Speaker 1: long ago, we had the bottom feeder discussion, which I
- 0:54Speaker 1: feel like everybody needs to have that at some point.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Sit your kids down, bottom feeder discussion. But that aside,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I've been trying to, again, occasionally, I venture out into
- 1:05Speaker 1: the world, so I'm trying to see what our horrible
- 1:08Speaker 1: fallback plan is. So I sent you guys a photo
- 1:11Speaker 1: of the last... Arguably horror movie.
- 1:14Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I keep finding weird ones, but they're not really even horror.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That one was... Let me see. Eye of the Beast
- 1:23Speaker 1: starring James Van Der Beek. And as I looked it
- 1:28Speaker 1: up earlier, it's a TV movie. So it's gonna be great.
- 1:33Speaker 1: There's something with tentacles on the front cover. I don't know.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Might just be an octopus.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Might be some sort of kraken.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Hell if I know.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I hope it's.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Just a big octopus.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Probably is, actually, because they can't afford a real monster,
- 1:46Speaker 1: so they'll just use stock footage. Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Planet Earth.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Pull Ed Wood and throw some random wrestle around with
- 1:53Speaker 1: a plastic octopus. That could be what we're watching. We
- 1:58Speaker 1: hope not.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I haven't really.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I didn't buy it.
- 2:00Speaker 3: You're lucky.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I didn't buy it yet, so that's a fallback plan. Hopefully,
- 2:05Speaker 1: you will join the club and give us a movie
- 2:07Speaker 1: to put on the list so we can watch something.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Much better than whatever Van Der Beek has put together
- 2:12Speaker 1: for us this week. So, just saying. Join the club.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Go to MovieMountain.com. Click on the Horror Club link and
- 2:20Speaker 1: you can give us a movie that's probably better than
- 2:23Speaker 1: Eye of the Beast.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I don't know. You're all about some Van Der Beek.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Because I'm looking at a picture from the movie of
- 2:32Speaker 3: one of said tentacles. It doesn't even look CGI. That's how...
- 2:37Speaker 3: Practical effects. Yeah, that's how impressive this movie has to be.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But until then, you can listen to... Uh-oh. I mean... It.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Looks like a spirit Halloween decoration. That's fun.
- 2:53Speaker 3: That would cost several hundred dollars to put in your yard.
- 2:56Speaker 3: This looks like something spirit Halloween would reject.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But you don't need to reject any of that. You
- 3:03Speaker 1: can join the club and be embraced by the wonders
- 3:07Speaker 1: that is the Horror Club. So, in the meantime, you
- 3:10Speaker 1: can listen to these snippets of awesomeness from this week's
- 3:14Speaker 1: episode to try to tide you over.
- 3:18Speaker 4: The subtitle of this movie, to keep on theme with
- 3:21Speaker 4: the earlier ones we talked about, could just be Horny
- 3:24Speaker 4: Men Make the Worst Decisions. It's literally like.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Honey, I can't argue with it.
- 3:30Speaker 4: You see the torso up of a beautiful woman in
- 3:34Speaker 4: the sky.
- 3:34Speaker 1: That's all you need.
- 3:35Speaker 3: That's all you need.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Your point?
- 3:37Speaker 4: And you're like, I'm going to throw out my relationship.
- 3:40Speaker 4: And it's just like, the more it went on, the
- 3:44Speaker 4: more annoyed I got.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Because this is something I've noticed in your independent B-film,
- 3:53Speaker 3: independent or B-film movies from this time. You'll have just
- 3:57Speaker 3: this really kicking opening song.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And then everything's downhill from there.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, kind. So, do you ever, like, get dressed in
- 4:08Speaker 1: what might be considered lingerie and invite a strange man
- 4:12Speaker 1: to have dinner with you? Answer the door in it
- 4:15Speaker 1: with maybe a robe, kind of?
- 4:17Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I never figured out what it was. It all looked
- 4:19Speaker 1: very nice. But I'm like, is this what you wear
- 4:22Speaker 1: out in the world?
- 4:24Speaker 2: Is this what you sleep in? It could be both.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:27Speaker 4: She was like rocking the lounge wear and street wear
- 4:30Speaker 4: before the pandemic. Definitely. I'm like, now I wear sweatpants
- 4:34Speaker 4: all the time. But that's a little different than a
- 4:37Speaker 4: floor length silk gown and sheer robe.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Or whatever it was.
- 4:43Speaker 4: I want to now.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I want to get myself some matching sets.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And then just invite a random dude over.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And have your houseboy make you a dinner. My boyfriend.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Like, beers. Is he okay with this plan?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Because I feel like he shouldn't be. Well, how does
- 5:02Speaker 3: that guy have time to sculpt lifelike dolls and run
- 5:06Speaker 3: a satanic cult in his basement?
- 5:10Speaker 1: But I'm like, just once we get to the store,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I started thinking, I'm like, what kind of a weirdo?
- 5:16Speaker 1: has a doll that looks like somebody they know. Like,
- 5:19Speaker 1: wouldn't you be creeped out if you knew somebody? Oh, wait, no, look.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I felt like his motivations kept going back and forth. Like,
- 5:31Speaker 4: he seemed like he was super into Bianca now, and
- 5:33Speaker 4: so now I'm in the satanic cult, but then he
- 5:35Speaker 4: comes back and, like, pulls the pin out of his
- 5:38Speaker 4: girlfriend's doll, but then he still is, like.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He's looking up there going, are they gonna sacrifice a human?
- 5:45Speaker 1: And again, that's about as upset as he seemed about it.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 1: So, like, humans or what?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Can we eat them afterwards?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Nothing seems to faze this guy.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Sure.
- 5:55Speaker 2: There is a lady.
- 5:59Speaker 3: In a skirt.
- 6:01Speaker 2: A very typical early 60s, late 50s skirt.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Mini-ish.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Short, yeah. She is bent at the waist.
- 6:09Speaker 3: With her arms.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Crossed across her chest like, oh my. Some elbow action
- 6:15Speaker 2: going on.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Yeah, some elbow action. Her derriere is promptly in the air.
- 6:21Speaker 5: And she has a surprised look on her face. But
- 6:24Speaker 5: what's interesting is several inches above her back, not her head,
- 6:29Speaker 5: her back, is a small little man in a suit.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Like, they're not messing around. Like, it is full on
- 6:36Speaker 1: horrific at many points.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Which is probably one of my favorite and also at
- 6:45Speaker 3: the same time least over-the-top William Castle movies.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Wait, why is there always a sex tape involved in
- 6:52Speaker 1: his movies?
- 6:53Speaker 2: I'm just piecing this.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Together, too.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Oh, now I'm trying to think. I don't think that
- 6:58Speaker 4: there is a sex tape in this one, but it's
- 7:00Speaker 4: very good.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You're just looking for an extra director hole connection there.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I did laugh out loud when his name popped up.
- 7:10Speaker 4: No offense, William.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Because you're 11 years old.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It's okay. I'm sure he's long dead by now.
- 7:18Speaker 4: And this was the time where they're handing out Quaaludes
- 7:20Speaker 4: like little Tic Tacs. Just go get a prescription.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 7:25Speaker 4: Knock yourself out. He also slept in a twin bed.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Because he's cool.
- 7:30Speaker 4: As a grown man. gave me concerns, but that's fine.
- 7:34Speaker 3: He was a bachelor in 1959, which was when this
- 7:37Speaker 3: movie was actually made. And that's when... That released for
- 7:40Speaker 3: two years.
- 7:40Speaker 2: That's how I can get the cool sheets, too.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I mean, that guy, probably.
- 7:44Speaker 3: That used to be the case. It's becoming easier and
- 7:48Speaker 3: easier to find Star Wars sheets. That's true. I know,
- 7:51Speaker 3: because we have two sets. Why would you.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Bother to do astral projection to someone you're standing next to?
- 7:59Speaker 3: 10 inches not feet.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah i mean you're right behind him you're he's like
- 8:04Speaker 1: look ahead there you are or turn around she's right.
- 8:07Speaker 3: There he's such a jackass he's like it's like you're
- 8:10Speaker 3: right here in the room.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I don't know i was just trying to decide were
- 8:18Speaker 1: they thinking that far ahead and actually planning it or
- 8:21Speaker 1: were they just sort of ripping these pages off as
- 8:24Speaker 1: they go yeah you're like here say these scenes now
- 8:27Speaker 1: say these words And then the next scene, it's like,
- 8:29Speaker 1: say these words.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I'm like, but these don't match with the last scene.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Shut up and say more words. These aren't even typed,
- 8:34Speaker 3: for Christ's sake.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I scribbled them down.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You can read most of them.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Now go. You're not a cocktail napkin.
- 8:40Speaker 4: There's a stick figure. And tiny dolls.
- 8:44Speaker 2: That's what this is all about.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Dolls. Now shut up and read my stick figure. Maybe
- 8:49Speaker 3: there's some progressiveness with the acting.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm just like, why do you have a goddess of
- 8:53Speaker 1: love and you're in this worshiping this demon thing, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: then Buddha's over there and then you've got swords and shit.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Like nothing matches up in this. It just seems like
- 9:06Speaker 2: they came up with some.
- 9:07Speaker 3: And dolls.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Again, it's like they change their mind every 15
- 9:10Speaker 1: minutes or so. They're just like, this is a movie
- 9:12Speaker 1: about creepy dolls. And then they're like, no, wait, witchcraft.
- 9:17Speaker 3: No, wait!
- 9:18Speaker 5: No!
- 9:18Speaker 1: Like, every few minutes they kept going.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I got a better idea.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Hold on. It's a wagon wheel chandelier with swords. What
- 9:26Speaker 4: else do you need?
- 9:28Speaker 3: Get it?
- 9:29Speaker 4: We're done.
- 9:30Speaker 3: And it's controlled by sewing machine pedals. Let's do lunch.
- 9:33Speaker 2: We're done now.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Well, I almost feel like somebody was like, okay, you
- 9:37Speaker 3: guys go to lunch, come back with some notes on
- 9:41Speaker 3: what you want this to do, and then they came
- 9:43Speaker 3: back and they're like, He's like, none of these, I
- 9:46Speaker 3: thought you guys had lunch together. And they're like, oh,
- 9:48Speaker 3: you wanted to have some lunch together? We just went
- 9:51Speaker 3: off and.
- 9:52Speaker 2: We were supposed to talk about that? No, no, no.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And I believe it was described at the time. as
- 10:00Speaker 1: an inane virtually plotless mixture of haunted houses hot rodders.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And rock and roll oh hell yeah that's what.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I said i was like yeah you sound like you're
- 10:10Speaker 1: trying to make it sound bad but you're doing it
- 10:13Speaker 1: wrong because that sounded awesome.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Why would this high-powerful witch priestess be interested in me,
- 10:20Speaker 4: an unemployed electronics man?
- 10:22Speaker 1: I think the internet's falling apart. Are you haunted? Maybe.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Electronics! Electronics!
- 10:31Speaker 2: The wave of the future!
- 10:33Speaker 3: If only we had a douche with a doll fetish
- 10:37Speaker 3: to fix your electronic devices. That can be arranged.
- 10:43Speaker 1: A scientist develops a serum that can eradicate scar tissue.
- 10:47Speaker 1: He tries it on a girl with a horribly disfigured face.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It succeeds, but then he discovers the girl is an
- 10:53Speaker 1: escaped mental patient from a local asylum. Yes.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Wow.
- 10:57Speaker 1: So go ahead and pencil that in.
- 10:59Speaker 4: I'm into that, yes.
- 11:01Speaker 3: My thought was you guys put that much detail into
- 11:04Speaker 3: that scene. If you could have put half as much
- 11:07Speaker 3: effort into the rest of the movie, maybe you would
- 11:10Speaker 3: have had some.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Well, that reminds me of I Drink Your Blood, where
- 11:16Speaker 4: they were just this big, fun, multicultural gang of devil worshippers.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Everybody gets together to worship Satan.
- 11:23Speaker 4: It's like, well, good for you for having a diverse cast.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It's cool that you're hippies and all, but you're also
- 11:31Speaker 1: murdering people.
- 11:31Speaker 3: You're doing hippie wrong.
- 11:35Speaker 4: But oh well.
- 11:36Speaker 3: You know, maybe that was the warning in I Drink
- 11:40Speaker 3: Your Blood that race mixing leads to evil murder.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Could be.
- 11:45Speaker 3: If you guys don't know what we're talking about, go
- 11:47Speaker 3: back and listen to the I Drink Your Blood episode.
- 11:50Speaker 3: It's a fun one. And then tell your friends to
- 11:52Speaker 3: join up so they can hear it too. Because it's awesome.
- 11:55Speaker 1: We got a lot out of that episode.
- 11:57Speaker 3: That was a good movie. Can we just talk about
- 11:58Speaker 3: that movie from now on?
- 11:59Speaker 2: Let's just switch over.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Because I feel like it would really go with the
- 12:03Speaker 3: theme of this movie.
- 12:06Speaker 1: If you don't join, you're going to get attacked by
- 12:07Speaker 1: a plastic tentacle. Tentacle. I said tentacle.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Come get wrapped in our loving tentacles of the Horror Club.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Oh, man. We need to put that on a shirt.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Join the club.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Maybe we'll make a shirt of that.
- 12:24Speaker 4: I'd wear it.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Go to movieoutdown.com. Click on the Horror Club link and
- 12:29Speaker 1: be part of the tentacle fun. Or not, if you
- 12:33Speaker 1: pick a better movie. to hold you near my heart.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Say that we'll never drift apart.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Eight arms to hold you near my heart.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Say that we'll never drift apart.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Eight arms to hold you near my heart.
