- Lucas: Hey there. Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be back at the mic with you today. Lucas: It really is. We have been on quite a journey through all these different shops lately. From keyboards to houseplants. Luna: Yes. And last time we were buying a thermos. Which was very practical. Lucas: Very practical. But today, we are switching gears slightly. We are going to talk about clothes. Luna: Oh, I love clothes. Especially when I can find the right fit. That is always the hardest part. Lucas: Exactly. And knowing how to ask for different sizes is key. So let us start with our first phrase. Luna: Okay. What is the first one? Lucas: We want to ask if a store has a larger size. The phrase is: Har ni den här i en större storlek? Luna: Har ni den här i en större storlek? Lucas: Perfect. Let me break that down just a little. Den här means this one. Större means larger. Storlek means size. Luna: So it is literally: Have you this one in a larger size? That makes sense. Lucas: It does. And it is very polite because you use Har ni. Which is the formal or plural you. Luna: Right. So I would say it slowly like this: Har ni den här i en större storlek? Lucas: Try it again. Just focus on the flow. Har ni den här i en större storlek? Luna: Har ni den här i en större storlek? Okay, I feel good about that. Lucas: You do. Now, what if the opposite is true? What if the item is too big? Luna: Oh, that happens to me all the time. I pick something up and it looks small but it is huge. Lucas: Then you need the second phrase. You want to ask for a smaller size. Luna: Let me guess. It is similar structure? Lucas: Exactly. The phrase is: Har ni den här i en mindre storlek? Luna: Har ni den här i en mindre storlek? Lucas: Spot on. Mindre means smaller. So you just swap out större for mindre. Luna: That is so easy to remember. Har ni den här i en mindre storlek? I can already see myself using that. Lucas: I bet. Sometimes though, you might not know what sizes they have left. Luna: Yes. Maybe you are holding the smallest one and you wonder if they even have more. Lucas: Good point. So here is a question you can ask. Are these the smallest sizes? Luna: Wait, is it plural or singular? Lucas: It is plural. Because you are asking about the range. The phrase is: Är detta de minsta storlekarna? Luna: Är detta de minsta storlekarna? Lucas: Yes. De minsta means the smallest ones. Storlekarna means the sizes. With the definite article. Luna: De minsta storlekarna. Got it. So if they say no, then I know I need to look elsewhere. Lucas: Correct. But sometimes, you just want to try it on. To see how it fits on your body. Luna: Oh yes. Trying it on is the only way to know for sure. Lucas: So here is the fourth phrase. You want to tell the shop assistant you will try it on. Luna: How do I say that? Lucas: The phrase is: Passar den här bra? Luna: Passar den här bra? Wait, does that mean 'Does this fit well'? Lucas: It can mean that. Or it can mean 'Is this a good fit?' It is a versatile question. Luna: I like it. It sounds natural. Passar den här bra? I will definitely use that. Lucas: It is very common. And finally, if you decide to take it to the changing room... Luna: Here comes the last one! Lucas: Here it is. The phrase is: Jag provar den här. Luna: Jag provar den här? Lucas: Yes. Provar means to try. Den här means this one. So it is 'I am trying this one'. Luna: Jag provar den här. Simple and direct. I love simple and direct. Lucas: It is the best way to communicate in a busy store. Let us review them quickly. Luna: Okay. First one: Har ni den här i en större storlek? Lucas: Second one: Har ni den här i en mindre storlek? Luna: Third one: Är detta de minsta storlekarna? Lucas: Fourth one: Passar den här bra? Luna: And the last one: Jag provar den här. Lucas: You nailed it. These phrases will make your shopping trips much smoother. Luna: They really will.
