Authentic Narrative of Some Remarkable and Interesting Particulars in the Life of John Newton - John Newton
"Authentic Narrative of Some Remarkable and Interesting Particulars in the Life of John Newton" offers a compelling glimpse into the early life of John Newton, the man behind the beloved hymn "Amazing Grace." Through a series of 14 short letters, Newton reflects on his tumultuous experiences as a former slave trader and his transformation into a staunch opponent of the slave trade in Britain. Notably, these letters, published in 1764, depict his struggles with faith and morality during a time when he viewed himself as "an infidel and libertine."
