- 0:41Speaker 1: in here, Mogi, and your tight T-shirt's not... leaving anything
- 0:47Speaker 1: to the imagination at all and not that I'm complaining
- 0:51Speaker 1: mind it's just Very, very distracting. How are you, you stallion?
- 0:56Speaker 5: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:59Speaker 5: a bee. Bit of a wet one up here, isn't it, mate?
- 1:01Speaker 1: It is, it is.
- 1:02Speaker 5: In the 09, Auckland. If you want to know what
- 1:04Speaker 5: the weather's like, the rest of New Zealand up in Auckland,
- 1:07Speaker 5: it's rainy and a bit cool.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and a bit windy.
- 1:09Speaker 5: A little bit windy as well. I'm a little bit
- 1:11Speaker 5: worried about today's show, I'll be honest with you, man.
- 1:13Speaker 5: I mean, Keezy there, he's coming hot. He's tried to
- 1:16Speaker 5: show a whole bunch of energy, but we know it's
- 1:17Speaker 5: a facade because... You're hungover, aren't you, Keezy? You're in pieces.
- 1:21Speaker 5: You're a shell of a man. You're a shocking bastard.
- 1:23Speaker 1: G'day, fellas.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about. Feeling good.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Friday. I'm seeing a crash at about 4.17, the way
- 1:29Speaker 1: he's going at the moment.
- 1:30Speaker 5: What?
- 1:31Speaker 1: No, I'm feeling good, boys.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I actually laid off the beers last night. Yeah, no,
- 1:37Speaker 4: it's not good, fellas. A bit dusty. Can you tell
- 1:41Speaker 4: us what time you got to bed?
- 1:42Speaker 5: Just to give us a taste. We'll go into it
- 1:44Speaker 5: more deeply later on and across the entire show.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Not bad at all.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Midnight.
- 1:48Speaker 5: It's too late for someone like you.
- 1:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 4: What do you mean someone like me?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Especially your age now. What do you mean my age now?
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm sweet. You're getting on.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Oh, it's no good.
- 1:55Speaker 4: I'm only four years younger than you, Jason.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I know, mate.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So I know what I'm talking about.
- 2:00Speaker 4: How are you today, by the way?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, very well, thank you. Can't complain.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And nor will I. Makes a change. What's happening on
- 2:11Speaker 1: The Big Show with Old Mogi.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Friday, fellas, and that means another opportunity at a massive throbber.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah, baby.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Dish, dish, dish. We're also going to get into Would
- 2:23Speaker 5: You Rather. It's Waz or Cars, an opportunity to get
- 2:26Speaker 5: yourself into the draw to go to the grand final
- 2:29Speaker 5: of the NRL in Sydney or head along to Mount
- 2:32Speaker 5: Panorama to catch Bathurst, baby.
- 2:34Speaker 1: How bloody good.
- 2:36Speaker 5: And coming up next, fellas, we're going to talk about
- 2:38Speaker 5: Father's Day.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Father's Day has come around again. It's come around again.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It seems to happen every year.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Sneaks up on you, doesn't it?
- 2:47Speaker 1: It really, really does.
- 2:49Speaker 4: His father's our bad thing. I'm getting bad thing vibes.
- 2:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:54Speaker 4: You're both fathers, you know.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That's true. It's a good thing, right?
- 2:57Speaker 4: You get celebrated.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Here's Arctic Monkeys.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Queens of the Stone Age there on the Radio Hauraki
- 3:08Speaker 1: Big Show. This Friday afternoon, the time is 23 minutes
- 3:12Speaker 1: past 4 o'clock. Don't forget those frowd-outs, by the way.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Frowd-out shy day. Got any frowd-outs? 3483 is the number
- 3:19Speaker 1: you text.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah shout outs fellas last night I was judging a
- 3:23Speaker 4: battle of the bands type competition yes it was a
- 3:26Speaker 4: battle of the ad bands or agency bands or something
- 3:29Speaker 4: with all the advertising agencies that work with our company
- 3:32Speaker 4: they all get all their talented musos together perform a
- 3:35Speaker 4: whole lot of songs in front of a crowd and
- 3:36Speaker 4: they have a panel of judges.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Is that what it is yeah I didn't know that
- 3:39Speaker 5: you've been doing that for years.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Yeah I think it was my fourth year doing it
- 3:43Speaker 4: it's always really good fun last year it was me
- 3:44Speaker 4: and Bo Runga for example yeah how good yeah she
- 3:48Speaker 4: wasn't there this year who was there this year A
- 3:50Speaker 4: fella called James, nice bloke.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Never heard of him. Yeah, well, I haven't even told
- 3:53Speaker 1: you his last name. Don't worry about it.
- 3:58Speaker 4: But the way it works is the bands come out,
- 4:00Speaker 4: they perform for 15 minutes. They're given a theme. Last
- 4:02Speaker 4: night's theme was 70s. Great era of music.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 4: What a lot of bands were doing was playing four songs.
- 4:11Speaker 4: because that's roughly 15 minutes.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:13Speaker 4: However, a few bands decided to try and jam like eight, seven,
- 4:17Speaker 4: six songs and just do like a little bit of
- 4:21Speaker 4: a song and then quickly move on to another one.
- 4:23Speaker 5: There's a name for that.
- 4:24Speaker 1: A medley. Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 4: And me and the other judges were like, damn it,
- 4:28Speaker 4: I want to listen to the rest of the song.
- 4:29Speaker 4: You were doing such a good job, but then you
- 4:30Speaker 4: moved on sort of thing. So there's this one band,
- 4:33Speaker 4: I can't remember which one it was, but they were really,
- 4:35Speaker 4: really good. They always do really well each year. And
- 4:37Speaker 4: they did a massive medley. And in my judging, I
- 4:41Speaker 4: said on the microphone in front of everyone, I said,
- 4:42Speaker 4: I would have loved you to actually do the whole
- 4:44Speaker 4: songs because I was trying to sing along and then
- 4:46Speaker 4: it would move on just as, you know, I was like,
- 4:48Speaker 4: I want a climax here. You're just sort of edging
- 4:49Speaker 4: me along and then moving off. And I also said,
- 4:55Speaker 4: you guys are great. You know, you're always up on
- 4:56Speaker 4: the podium. You know, you're always a podium finish.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:00Speaker 4: And I then, after judging that, went out back to
- 5:02Speaker 4: go wheeze in the green room where they were all standing.
- 5:04Speaker 4: And the toilet is in the corner of the green room.
- 5:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 4: And it's a little wooden, like, plywood box thing. And
- 5:10Speaker 4: I'm in there, and I'm just listening to these guys.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Releasing a powerful stream of built-up businesses. 100% true.
- 5:18Speaker 4: So I'm in there listening, and they are going in
- 5:21Speaker 4: on the judges. And it was very funny. It was
- 5:24Speaker 4: like they were convinced they had done pretty much a
- 5:26Speaker 4: flawless performance. They were convinced that the judges didn't know
- 5:29Speaker 4: what they were talking about, which is true.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I don't.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And they kept saying stuff like... Like, oh, too many songs.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Oh, what?
- 5:36Speaker 4: So you just want the same chorus a few more times?
- 5:39Speaker 1: That's true. He's got a point there.
- 5:42Speaker 3: 100%.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Got you there.
- 5:43Speaker 4: And so I'm sitting in the, well, I'm not sitting,
- 5:46Speaker 4: I'm standing in the bog in the corner there swaying
- 5:49Speaker 4: slightly with a big grin on my face cracking up.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 5:52Speaker 4: And then they go, yeah, and when he said we're
- 5:53Speaker 4: always a podium finish, I've never hated someone so much
- 5:55Speaker 4: in my life.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 5:59Speaker 4: And I literally burst out laughing in the toilet in
- 6:02Speaker 4: the corner laughing obviously pulled up the old zipper there,
- 6:04Speaker 4: washed my hands, came out, and then they're like, oh,
- 6:06Speaker 4: hang on, you are one of the judges, aren't you?
- 6:08Speaker 4: And I'm like, yeah, I reckon next time do a
- 6:10Speaker 4: few more songs. But I can't figure out if they
- 6:15Speaker 4: were intentionally speaking loud because they knew I was a
- 6:17Speaker 4: judge or that was just what I just heard.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 4: And it is interesting because they'd spent months practicing and
- 6:23Speaker 4: then a guy comes in half-steamed who isn't a muso.
- 6:26Speaker 5: But you're the audience, Keezy.
- 6:28Speaker 1: 100%.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Do you know what I mean?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:29Speaker 5: And sometimes you've got to, These musicians have had it
- 6:33Speaker 5: too good for too long, man. You've got to take
- 6:34Speaker 5: them down a peg or two.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Muses?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Sure.
- 6:36Speaker 5: They've been out there. They've been practicing month after month
- 6:40Speaker 5: after month, putting everything they can into this to try
- 6:42Speaker 5: and win some kind of thankless prize.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Meaningless. Probably a meat pack or something.
- 6:50Speaker 5: And in comes old Inglebert Steamer-Keesy. Think of that, Steamer Keezy.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Whose favourite artist is a 94-year-old and tells them that
- 7:00Speaker 5: what they're playing is no good or there's too much
- 7:02Speaker 5: of it, you know what I mean?
- 7:03Speaker 4: I said that was very good.
- 7:04Speaker 1: That's right.
- 7:04Speaker 5: But you can understand why they'd be thinking to themselves, wow,
- 7:08Speaker 5: you know?
- 7:09Speaker 1: I remember once I was doing a steamer in the
- 7:13Speaker 1: toilets of the comedy club there, Keezy. Similar experience. And
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'd just done my gig. And so I was sitting
- 7:21Speaker 1: on the bog there doing a steamer.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Right, so you bombed on stage, then bombed the toilet.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yes, pretty much. And someone came in, the same thing.
- 7:29Speaker 1: There were two dudes there chatting about my gig and
- 7:34Speaker 1: just slaying it. Actually? Yeah, actually. And one of them
- 7:37Speaker 1: was going, you know, a lot of people find him funny.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I've never found him funny. Yeah, yeah. And then I
- 7:44Speaker 1: finished up and just walked out with my head held high.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, did you flush?
- 7:48Speaker 1: No, I just left it there.
- 7:52Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:56Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. One simple question.
- 8:01Speaker 2: One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yes, indeed. Would you rather was or cause? New Zealand,
- 8:09Speaker 1: it's up to you. NRL Grand Final or Bathurst 1000.
- 8:14Speaker 4: All thanks to our mates at boystrip.co.nz. The NRL package
- 8:19Speaker 4: is amazing. You get to go to the races the
- 8:22Speaker 4: day before. You get to go, which will be a blowout.
- 8:24Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 1: If it was me. Potentially.
- 8:27Speaker 4: You then get to go on a riverboat cruise to
- 8:29Speaker 4: the actual grand final itself on the Sunday there.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Wow.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Flights taken care of and accommodation. And Bathurst is the
- 8:35Speaker 4: same situation. You get escorted to Mount Panorama and back
- 8:38Speaker 4: both days there. Saturday and Sunday, flights taken care of.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Well, as Mokey pointed out, and quite rightly yesterday, I mean,
- 8:45Speaker 1: say you go to the NRL, the WAs are in
- 8:48Speaker 1: the final.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The WAs win the final. You get your trip paid for,
- 8:54Speaker 1: your accommodation paid for, everything paid for, and the WAs
- 8:58Speaker 1: win the grand final. Yeah. That's got to be the
- 9:00Speaker 1: greatest day of your life. I mean, it wouldn't be mine.
- 9:02Speaker 3: No.
- 9:03Speaker 1: But for a lot of people, that would be, I'm
- 9:08Speaker 1: happy now. Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Do you think, this is slightly off topic, do you
- 9:13Speaker 4: think the Warriors winning the grand final will be one
- 9:16Speaker 4: of the greatest days in New Zealand sport history?
- 9:18Speaker 6: 100%.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I think it is.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Of course it is.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. I think it'll be right up there.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Right up there.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I don't know who would say it would be anything
- 9:24Speaker 5: other than that.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well, I might. Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Tom,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 9:33Speaker 6: Yeah, good, fellas.
- 9:33Speaker 7: How are you?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Big plans for your Friday, Tom.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Yeah, no, just heading down the mountain. Hopefully the weather's
- 9:42Speaker 6: going to play ball.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I hear you, mate. I hear you. And
- 9:45Speaker 1: what do you do for a crust, Tom?
- 9:47Speaker 6: I do a bit of marketing.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. No biggie. No biggie. Yeah, backbone. No biggie
- 9:51Speaker 1: from old Tom. And what would your choice be in
- 9:54Speaker 1: this scenario, Bathurst or the NRL grand final, mate?
- 9:58Speaker 6: I remember as a young fella being at the first
- 10:00Speaker 6: Warriors game at Mount Smart against the Broncos, so it's
- 10:04Speaker 6: going to have to be the Wads.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 10:07Speaker 6: I don't want to jinx it.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Good choice, Tom. You hold the line there, mate, and
- 10:11Speaker 4: old Pugsan will sort you out.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Cheers, mate.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Good on you. He was no-nonsense old Tom, wasn't he?
- 10:16Speaker 5: It was quite good, that first game there, because we
- 10:18Speaker 5: lost by one point to the Broncos.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I remember that game. It was a doozy.
- 10:22Speaker 5: It was an absolute doozy. So we all thought, jeez,
- 10:24Speaker 5: we're going to smash this competition. This is easy. And
- 10:27Speaker 5: here we are 30 years later waiting for our first title.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Jase, were you dressed as Wally the Wombat for that game?
- 10:33Speaker 1: No, he didn't come in for a couple of years,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I think, actually.
- 10:37Speaker 4: He was a mascot in the early days of the Wilds.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yes, he was. Let's go to Carmel. G'day, Carmel. How's life?
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah, bloody good, mate.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And yourself? Yeah, I can't bloody complain, Carmel. Hey, tell me,
- 10:48Speaker 1: what's your plan for the Friday out there in Cambridge?
- 10:53Speaker 3: Not long home from work. Just going to chill. Was
- 10:55Speaker 3: going to have a beer in front of our outside fire,
- 10:58Speaker 3: but a bit wet.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Bit wet, mate. Yeah, hear you, Carmel.
- 11:02Speaker 5: What do you reckon, Carmel? Pack a day or you're
- 11:04Speaker 5: on the vapes now?
- 11:06Speaker 6: Neither, mate.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Oh, backbone.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Can you have a word to Jase, please? Because he
- 11:11Speaker 5: is out of control.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he's too out of control for me to handle, mate. Yeah, thanks.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Tell me, Carmel, what would be your
- 11:18Speaker 1: choice here? NRL or Bathurst?
- 11:23Speaker 3: Definitely a bucket list Bathurst for us.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Good on you. Good on you. Nice.
- 11:27Speaker 4: All right, Carmel, you hold the line and Hudson will
- 11:29Speaker 4: put you in the draw, all right?
- 11:31Speaker 7: Excellent.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Thanks, mate. Good on you. Well, Bathurst has been going forever,
- 11:34Speaker 1: hasn't it?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Absolutely forever. And it's one of those sports that early doors,
- 11:38Speaker 5: you know, decades ago was one of the few sporting
- 11:40Speaker 5: events that would get shown on the telly.
- 11:42Speaker 1: People froth it.
- 11:43Speaker 4: All weekend.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Massively so.
- 11:44Speaker 5: You get in front of the towel, you get on
- 11:46Speaker 5: the beer. So it's been a tradition for a lot
- 11:48Speaker 5: of people for a long time.
- 11:49Speaker 4: It certainly is in my family. And in fact, I
- 11:51Speaker 4: think the large portion of my family would definitely choose Bathurst.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 11:55Speaker 5: 100%. Yeah, how good.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Well, they're all petrolheads, eh, Keezy? Yeah, man. On the
- 11:59Speaker 1: plantation there.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I don't have a plantation.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Here's new order.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Small lifestyle block, all right?
- 12:07Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yes, indeed. Jihad there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
- 12:15Speaker 1: this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.47. Let's talk television.
- 12:21Speaker 1: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 5: That's right. I've just been continuing on with the TV
- 12:32Speaker 5: show alone, fellas.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 5: So I don't want to bang on about that until
- 12:35Speaker 5: it's finished.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I went back to a series that we started a
- 12:41Speaker 1: little while ago, and we went, oh, that's right, we
- 12:44Speaker 1: were watching, it was pretty good, called Vicious, on Disney Channel,
- 12:49Speaker 1: I believe it is, with the star of Shameless. Disney Plus, yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I can't remember her name from Shameless, but.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Oh, old mate there, yeah, I remember, yeah. She's a backbone.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And she's the main character. It's basically a classic crime story.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Female serial killer this time. That's right. And she is
- 13:13Speaker 1: the lead detective, if you will. But she's also got
- 13:17Speaker 1: lots of issues herself. You know, your classic scenario. She's
- 13:22Speaker 1: not an alcoholic, is she? No, she likes to drink.
- 13:24Speaker 1: There's other things that she gets into because of her
- 13:27Speaker 1: past that are not healthy.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Sure.
- 13:30Speaker 1: But I don't want to go into them too much
- 13:33Speaker 1: on air, if you know what I'm saying, fellas. But
- 13:36Speaker 1: she's kind of a broken spirit outside of work. So
- 13:40Speaker 1: your classic, you know, chaotic, tortured private life, but a
- 13:46Speaker 1: very bloody good cop. I mean, it's actually pretty good.
- 13:50Speaker 1: It's pretty good. Pretty good. It's a pretty solid series,
- 13:55Speaker 1: pretty solid acting. I'll give it a good solid three
- 13:58Speaker 1: buzzies out of five. Okay.
- 14:00Speaker 4: What is it called and where is it?
- 14:02Speaker 1: Vicious, Disney +.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, cool.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Whilst hungover this morning, eating breakfast, I watched Anthony.
- 14:10Speaker 1: What did you have for breakfast?
- 14:12Speaker 4: Don't worry about it.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Yeah, which breakfast was it? Because you had also, you
- 14:15Speaker 5: had lunch at 10.30am. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Oh, right.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 4: I watched Anthony Bourdain in Singapore.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Like an old, one of his shows that's on YouTube.
- 14:24Speaker 4: All of his shows are on YouTube. Fantastic. If you
- 14:27Speaker 4: can't think of anything to watch, you can just put
- 14:29Speaker 4: one on and it's really, really interesting and really entertaining.
- 14:32Speaker 4: One of the interesting things about Singapore, one of the
- 14:34Speaker 4: richest countries, right, went from a third world country to
- 14:38Speaker 4: a fully developed country in one generation, I think it was,
- 14:42Speaker 4: People there are very, very, very wealthy. Some of the
- 14:45Speaker 4: highest property prices in the world. And you can go
- 14:48Speaker 4: and you can eat French food. You can eat Italian
- 14:50Speaker 4: food and Western stuff, and it's all very expensive. However,
- 14:53Speaker 4: they refuse to pay top dollar at all for Singaporean food. Right, okay.
- 15:00Speaker 4: So all of the Singaporean people are like, well, let's
- 15:01Speaker 4: just open an Italian restaurant. That way we can charge
- 15:04Speaker 4: $ 30 for a main. Whereas the price of, I think
- 15:07Speaker 4: it was like a chicken and noodles or something, has
- 15:09Speaker 4: changed from $ 3 to $ 4 in over... 30 years, that's
- 15:13Speaker 4: all it's done. But Singaporeans are all really wealthy, but
- 15:16Speaker 4: they refuse to pay a lot for their local food,
- 15:18Speaker 4: but they love their local food.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Very interesting. Yes. Just on that front, actually, Keezy, I
- 15:23Speaker 1: got home last night and my wife was watching Samsung TV.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And you know how they have specialised channels where it
- 15:30Speaker 1: just plays all of one particular series? She discovered one
- 15:35Speaker 1: with this Australian chef who's Vietnamese who goes back to
- 15:39Speaker 1: Vietnam to all the places where he used to hang
- 15:42Speaker 1: out and just does this massive Vietnamese tour. Bloody good stuff.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I like a good cooking show.
- 15:47Speaker 4: And you've been to Vietnam as well.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys know this, but I've
- 15:51Speaker 1: actually been to Vietnam. You'll ban me. Xin chào.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I'm just going to text you on 3483. It's called furious,
- 15:59Speaker 4: not vicious.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, furious. Shocking bastard.
- 16:04Speaker 4: So the TV show Jase was talking about is called Furious.
- 16:06Speaker 1: That's why I couldn't find it on my phone.
- 16:08Speaker 4: A lot of people texting in right now about it.
- 16:12Speaker 1: What is it? Huh? What? Vicious.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Oh.
- 16:15Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Lincoln Park. They're on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 16:23Speaker 1: Friday afternoon. Are we happy it's Friday, fellas? You looking
- 16:26Speaker 1: forward to the weekend? I hate it, eh? Yeah, same. Yeah.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Friday's my worst day. It's like, ah, bloody got to
- 16:33Speaker 1: get through the weekend until I get back to the
- 16:35Speaker 1: show again.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I'm stoked, man.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 16:37Speaker 4: A couple of days off, yeah.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Because you're hung, eh?
- 16:40Speaker 6: Huh?
- 16:40Speaker 1: You're hung today.
- 16:41Speaker 5: You're hammered yesterday, hung today, hammered tomorrow, hung Sunday. I
- 16:47Speaker 5: reckon probably even for a hung Monday with old Keezy.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Want to play golf on Monday, Keezy? No.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Oh.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Hey, half after five, fellas, the old Friday frobber.
- 16:57Speaker 6: Really?
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Also, we have a bit of an update on
- 17:02Speaker 1: Keezy's racing pigeon.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's basically come last every single race it's been in,
- 17:07Speaker 4: a complete waste of $ 400. So basically this weekend's race
- 17:11Speaker 4: is do or die. Not literally.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Do or die.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Not literally for the racing pigeon. But more on that
- 17:17Speaker 4: after five.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, mate.
- 17:22Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 17:25Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 17:31Speaker 7: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 17:38Speaker 1: The Friday Throbber, yes indeed. Every Friday, each of the
- 17:41Speaker 1: fellas in the studio here, we pick a song to
- 17:44Speaker 1: get you in the mood for your Friday night, basically.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Then what happens is you give us a call on
- 17:49Speaker 1: 0800 HAURAKI and say what you want the throbber to be.
- 17:53Speaker 1: First to two wins. Well done, Jase.
- 17:56Speaker 4: You had a mouthful of water and a heap of
- 17:59Speaker 4: chips as well.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I may have. I may have.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Do you know we've.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Said this over 200 times?
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It's good, eh? But there might be 10 new
- 18:08Speaker 1: people today, Mogi.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I know, 100%.
- 18:09Speaker 5: What is this, Robert?
- 18:11Speaker 1: What is it?
- 18:11Speaker 4: I don't know about 10.
- 18:12Speaker 5: It's a good reminder to me.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Do you sometimes forget?
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Who wants to go first?
- 18:18Speaker 7: Maybe.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Okay, Mogi's first. What's your song, man?
- 18:21Speaker 5: This is from a band called Linkin Park, and it
- 18:23Speaker 5: just throbs.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You hear that, man? Do you hear it?
- 18:31Speaker 7: It's ripped easy.
- 18:37Speaker 3: It's ripped.
- 18:40Speaker 1: We like the rip. What about you, Odie?
- 18:43Speaker 5: Jay, what do you got, man?
- 18:45Speaker 1: I've got a bit of Muse. Psycho.
- 18:57Speaker 4: What's the name of it? Psycho.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Psycho. Nice.
- 19:04Speaker 4: What was the name of your one?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Faint, I think.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Faint, that's right. Bloody couple of good tunes there, fellas.
- 19:09Speaker 4: I just went for some Pearl Jam, but a song
- 19:10Speaker 4: I don't hear enough.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Sure.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Which I love. Dissident. I tell you what. I feel
- 19:28Speaker 1: the verses. Three good tunes here, I reckon. Three tunes here.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So you decide, New Zealand. Give us a call right
- 19:33Speaker 1: now on 0800 Hauraki. In the meantime, let's have a
- 19:38Speaker 1: bit of Foo Fighters.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah!
- 19:41Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 19:47Speaker 7: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, and I think it's fair to say three
- 19:56Speaker 1: throbbers today, fellas.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Three tunes, feels.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I think so, I think so, I think so.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Which is the idea.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yes, and Mogi kicked us off. Yeah, it's definitely an
- 20:16Speaker 1: old man riff that one. Psycho. Psycho. Yeah, nice.
- 20:42Speaker 5: It's got a bit of swagger to it, doesn't it?
- 20:44Speaker 1: It does, mate. It does.
- 20:45Speaker 4: And I chose one of my favourite Pearl Jam songs, Dissident.
- 21:02Speaker 1: All right. You decide, New Zealanders. Go to the phone lines. G'day, Steph.
- 21:06Speaker 1: How's life?
- 21:08Speaker 3: Oh, pretty grouse, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 21:10Speaker 3: a B.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, this guy gets it, man. He gets it, he
- 21:12Speaker 1: gets it. What are you running with there, Steph?
- 21:15Speaker 3: Oh, I'm actually a huge fan of your song, Hoy
- 21:17Speaker 3: You Just Bought. That was an absolute throbber.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Good on you.
- 21:21Speaker 1: That's huge.
- 21:21Speaker 4: You have a good evening, Steph, right?
- 21:23Speaker 2: Thanks, mate.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Good on you, man.
- 21:25Speaker 1: G'day, Jack, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 21:28Speaker 5: Oh, g'day, Jizzbot.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Doing well, thanks.
- 21:30Speaker 1: How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What are you
- 21:33Speaker 1: running with there, Jack?
- 21:35Speaker 6: Oh, got to be with old Mogey.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Mogey.
- 21:38Speaker 3: He's got to.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Answer it, man. Hard out. The Moganator. I don't know
- 21:42Speaker 1: about that, Jack. That's my new nickname. Have you not
- 21:44Speaker 1: heard about that? Have you heard that?
- 21:46Speaker 4: Everybody's calling me the Moganator.
- 21:48Speaker 1: All right, good on you, Jack. G'day, Tony. You're mad bastard.
- 21:52Speaker 1: How's life?
- 21:52Speaker 5: Yeah, bloody good, mate. Just down on the... Having a
- 21:55Speaker 5: beer down the garage? Listen to you guys?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. This is it. This is the one, man.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Good on you.
- 22:02Speaker 5: I've got to go for Lincoln Park.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I knew it. I knew it. Get on you, Tony.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Have a great weekend.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Crank it up, brother.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Annoy your neighbours. Rib into the beers.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I love you.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Put him on hold, man.
- 22:13Speaker 1: He's gone, man. I love you, Tony. We ditched him.
- 22:16Speaker 1: He's gone. He betrayed us.
- 22:18Speaker 4: He's not coming back.
- 22:19Speaker 1: He can just do his own thing in his own
- 22:21Speaker 1: little bloody garage and keep his opinion to himself.
- 22:24Speaker 5: This song will forever be mine and Tony's song. Me
- 22:27Speaker 5: and Tony from Nelson, this is our song.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Oh, Tony Pepperoni. 3483, what do you think of today's
- 22:34Speaker 4: Friday Throbber?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Crank it, you dogs.
- 22:46Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, your Friday throbber there, framed by Linkin Park. Faint. Yeah, man.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Big tune there, Mogi, with another one. He's way out
- 22:59Speaker 4: in front now, 15 wins for the year.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah. 15, man. Unassailable, I'd say.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Actually, I'm on 16. Okay.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Am I? No, 15. Okay.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Keezy's second on 10 with one asterisk. Why did I
- 23:13Speaker 4: have an asterisk? Oh, because I played two parts of
- 23:15Speaker 4: a song, two snippets.
- 23:16Speaker 1: That's right. That was out of it.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Do you remember that, Jake?
- 23:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Just blatant cheating.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I mean, we've had some controversy on the old throbber
- 23:25Speaker 1: over the years. I think that was probably the biggest.
- 23:27Speaker 5: I'd say so.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Me choosing two different snippets. I don't know if it
- 23:30Speaker 4: was the biggest. And, of course, Jase way in the
- 23:34Speaker 4: back on seven with two asterisks and a small D.
- 23:39Speaker 5: The small d is unrelated to the competition. It's just
- 23:42Speaker 5: an observation.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, just when you guys saw me in the
- 23:45Speaker 1: urinal there.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Yeah, we better mention that every throbber. But, Jase, Mogi
- 23:49Speaker 4: has more than doubled your score. Yeah, that's great, Mogi.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Well done, man. Thanks, mate.
- 23:54Speaker 4: How are you feeling about it?
- 23:56Speaker 1: I feel really good about it. I feel really good
- 23:57Speaker 1: for Mogi. Yeah. I think he's been on fire.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yeah, but what about you, man? Because you've never won
- 24:03Speaker 4: the throbber at the end of the year before, have you?
- 24:05Speaker 1: No, I never have. And, again, I've got to reiterate–
- 24:09Speaker 1: I'm very excited for Mogi. I think this is his
- 24:11Speaker 1: best year yet.
- 24:12Speaker 5: I'm going all right, aren't I?
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. He's getting better and better.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Have you noticed that?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. I'm more concerned. I'm more concerned. That you
- 24:20Speaker 1: haven't had a win in a little while. You're worried
- 24:23Speaker 1: about me, are you?
- 24:24Speaker 4: Oh, thanks, man. No, it's all good. I mean, I'm
- 24:27Speaker 4: on 10. Mogi's still sort of just on the horizon.
- 24:30Speaker 4: I can still see him.
- 24:31Speaker 1: But when was your last win? It's been a while.
- 24:35Speaker 1: It feels like a while, that's all.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Woke up this morning by Alabama 3 was my last win.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 24:40Speaker 5: A couple of months ago.
- 24:41Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I think it was last year, maybe. Yeah, maybe.
- 24:44Speaker 7: Maybe.
- 24:44Speaker 4: But yeah, it's far out. You're really lagging, aren't you? Seven,
- 24:47Speaker 4: like that's crazy.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm what you call, Keezy. A loser. A sleeper.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Ah, a sleeper.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:55Speaker 5: Yeah, you're asleep at the wheel.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I, yeah.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Mouthful of chips.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Can I please? Because they're really nice. Hey, coming up next,
- 25:05Speaker 1: by the way, we're going to be having a bit
- 25:07Speaker 1: of an update on your pigeon.
- 25:09Speaker 4: My racing pigeon, I bought one for $ 400. It is
- 25:11Speaker 4: racing this weekend. It's fifth race, I believe it is.
- 25:14Speaker 4: So far, it hasn't won anything. It hasn't podiumed. It
- 25:16Speaker 4: hasn't been in the top 15 once. So we're going to,
- 25:19Speaker 4: I believe, get the trainer or someone on the line
- 25:21Speaker 4: and have a bit of a yarn to them. That's
- 25:23Speaker 4: up next after some news, Jase.
- 25:25Speaker 1: There you go.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Everyone's a winner.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Except me. I think so.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 25:33Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, Bush there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 25:39Speaker 1: stormy Friday afternoon. Now, regular listeners to the show will
- 25:43Speaker 1: know of the ongoing saga of Keezy's racing pigeon, Keezy
- 25:48Speaker 1: on all wings looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Would you like me to play the sting?
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yeah, go on. Keezy on all wings.
- 25:54Speaker 7: Looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 25:59Speaker 4: My pigeon fellas cost $ 400. I gave it to a
- 26:02Speaker 4: strange man in Timaru named Pigeon Tim.
- 26:05Speaker 5: I think his name was Tim.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Well, he goes by Pigeon Tim. He prefers Pigeon Tim.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Oh, does he?
- 26:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 4: He's raced in a whole heap of races so far.
- 26:12Speaker 4: He came 90th and then like 50th or something and
- 26:14Speaker 4: then a couple of 30s. He seems to be better
- 26:17Speaker 4: over the long distances. And the good news is this
- 26:19Speaker 4: weekend is an absolute stonker. Blenheim to Oamaru, 470 kilometres.
- 26:26Speaker 1: She's a big job. That's a big job, all right.
- 26:28Speaker 4: It's huge. And the next closest is 150 kilometres less
- 26:32Speaker 4: than that. And that was the longest so far where...
- 26:34Speaker 4: My pigeon managed to finish in the 30s.
- 26:36Speaker 1: The good news is, is that Keezy on all wings
- 26:39Speaker 1: looking over his beak with me. Keezy tends to perform
- 26:41Speaker 1: better in the long distances. And also the great news
- 26:45Speaker 1: is we've actually got Keezy on all wings looking over
- 26:47Speaker 1: his beak with me. Keezy on the line now. G'day,
- 26:50Speaker 1: Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me. Keezy,
- 26:53Speaker 1: how's it going?
- 26:55Speaker 3: Can you hear me?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, we can hear you, mate. Are you in the coop,
- 27:01Speaker 1: are you?
- 27:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty noisy here, actually. There's a lot of
- 27:05Speaker 3: other pigeons around.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, fair enough.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Hey, listen, Keezy on all wings looking over his beak
- 27:12Speaker 4: with me. Keezy, big race this weekend, man. Obviously, you know,
- 27:16Speaker 4: you haven't performed amazingly, so I'm kind of counting on
- 27:20Speaker 4: this weekend you doing the business.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Well, why have you got such little faith, Keezy? Like,
- 27:26Speaker 3: I'm just hitting my prime distance. Long distance is where
- 27:30Speaker 3: I'm at. I'm not all hopped up on methamphetamine like
- 27:33Speaker 3: these other pigeons who are doing these short tracks. Long
- 27:36Speaker 3: distance is where it's at for me. So I think
- 27:38Speaker 3: this weekend we're going to bring it home.
- 27:40Speaker 1: We're going to bring it home, Keezy.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Your best finish so far, Keezy, on all wings, looking
- 27:44Speaker 5: over his beak with me. Keezy has been sort of
- 27:46Speaker 5: in the mid to high 30s. An extra 150k, do
- 27:50Speaker 5: you think that's going to get Keezy in the money here?
- 27:52Speaker 5: Because he was saying some things about you this week.
- 27:57Speaker 5: Worry about your future if you don't deliver over the
- 28:00Speaker 5: course of this weekend, mate.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Well, I heard the interview, I think it was a
- 28:05Speaker 3: couple of days ago, and they played in the coop here.
- 28:08Speaker 3: And he was saying a lot of terrible things about me.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And I just want to bring up a couple of things, Keezy.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Where has the training process been going on? I've heard
- 28:17Speaker 3: nothing from you.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, fair call.
- 28:19Speaker 5: He is a shocking bastard.
- 28:22Speaker 3: All the other pigeons are getting all this help from
- 28:25Speaker 3: their owners and their trainers, and I'm getting nothing.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Are you serious? I didn't know I had to train
- 28:29Speaker 4: the pigeon. I thought I just bought you, Keezy, on
- 28:33Speaker 4: all wings, looking over his beak with me, Keezy, and
- 28:34Speaker 4: then you just sort of fly home. Is that not
- 28:36Speaker 4: how it works?
- 28:38Speaker 3: It's classic. It's classic passing the buck.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. You've got to spend money to make money, Keezy.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Can I ask you, Keezy, on all wings, looking over
- 28:48Speaker 1: his beak with me, Keezy, obviously a greater distance, the
- 28:51Speaker 1: biggest distance thus far. Have you been beefing up this week?
- 28:55Speaker 1: Have you been loading up?
- 28:58Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, there's somebody in this group who's
- 29:01Speaker 3: shared a huge bit of spirally. steroid things with me
- 29:05Speaker 3: yeah i'm feeling it i'm feeling it my my downstairs
- 29:09Speaker 3: is shriveled up but i'm sure like my wings are
- 29:11Speaker 3: at peak performance.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Well that's kind of the beauty about pigeon racing isn't
- 29:15Speaker 5: it a lot of people won't know this is uh
- 29:16Speaker 5: steroid use is 100 legal is it so we've somewhat
- 29:19Speaker 5: dropped the ball there i've got to ask you a
- 29:21Speaker 5: question i sort of asked this of any long distance
- 29:23Speaker 5: runners uh ultra marathon is that sort of thing when
- 29:26Speaker 5: you need to take a dump what's the plan.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Beautifully to fly. Hopefully it creates some kind of like
- 29:34Speaker 3: some kind of distraction on the pigeons behind you. It's
- 29:39Speaker 3: like a Murray kart kind of um oil split situation so.
- 29:43Speaker 4: How do you know about mario kart keezy on all
- 29:45Speaker 4: wings looking over his beak with me keezy.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Well the other the other owners have given their pigeons
- 29:51Speaker 3: some training exercises and that's like the competitive nature of
- 29:55Speaker 3: Mario Kart. I've been training on that, but I've got nothing.
- 29:58Speaker 5: They've been practicing on the Xbox, haven't they?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Keezy's just been sitting in the corner of the coupe
- 30:05Speaker 1: taking steroids, Keezy. Yeah, right. Okay.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Well, listen, Keezy on all wings looking over his beak
- 30:10Speaker 4: with me. Keezy, obviously no hard feelings, right? And good
- 30:14Speaker 4: luck for the race this weekend, man.
- 30:16Speaker 3: And trust the process, Keezy. Trust the process. And if
- 30:19Speaker 3: you can send some kind of.
- 30:22Speaker 3: A little bit extra down this weekend I've blown all
- 30:25Speaker 3: my money this week on a bit of a Tuesday
- 30:28Speaker 3: blowout but if you can just send something down so
- 30:30Speaker 3: that I can look after myself for the next couple
- 30:32Speaker 3: of days that'd be great Cool.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Okay, so my pigeon's hung over. It's actually great. Okay, well,
- 30:37Speaker 4: to be fair, that's pretty fitting. Good luck for the race, mate,
- 30:40Speaker 4: and we'll be keeping a close eye on you, all right?
- 30:42Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 30:46Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I think I'll have myself a beer.
- 30:55Speaker 2: The Radio Hodaki Big Show. Name our beer.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, baby.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Woo!
- 31:01Speaker 1: Feeling those Friday vibes. It's going off, man. Cut some
- 31:04Speaker 1: shapes for us. Go on, turn it up.
- 31:05Speaker 5: Can you crank that up?
- 31:06Speaker 1: Yeah, here you go. It's as loud as it goes.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Yeah, dance it.
- 31:10Speaker 1: And four more. Yeah, boy. And three more.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Uh-huh.
- 31:14Speaker 1: And two more. Yeah. And one more. Let's go again.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Backbone of aerobics.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Now, yes, we need you to name our beer thanks
- 31:24Speaker 1: to our good mates at Emerson's who are on board again, eh, fellas?
- 31:27Speaker 4: Certainly are, Jase. They, of course, heavily involved with the
- 31:31Speaker 4: 2026 Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival. It's happening again
- 31:34Speaker 4: two days, Friday, November 27th, Saturday, November 28th at Forsyth Bar.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Over 75 beer, food and beverage vendors. Shapeys are playing.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Troy Kingy's going to be there. Red Fountain and Park
- 31:45Speaker 4: Road as well.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Bloody good.
- 31:47Speaker 4: A huge event gets bigger and bigger every single year,
- 31:50Speaker 4: and every year as well, Emerson's makes a special Big
- 31:53Speaker 4: Show beer. This year it is a tropical hazy pale ale,
- 31:56Speaker 4: and it just needs a name.
- 31:57Speaker 1: That's all it needs, man. It's got everything else, it
- 32:00Speaker 1: just needs a name. We've got the beer, we've got
- 32:02Speaker 1: the bottles. G'day Gary, you mad bastard, how's life?
- 32:06Speaker 6: Oh, good thanks fellas, how's it going?
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, good thanks. Mate, you got a big Friday night
- 32:11Speaker 1: planned there, Gaz?
- 32:13Speaker 3: A bit of vino with a missus.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Oh, very right.
- 32:16Speaker 5: What do you go for in the vino department, Gez,
- 32:19Speaker 5: you sicko?
- 32:20Speaker 3: Probably a nice Merlot.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Oh, Merlot. You romantic bastard, you.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Hey, Gary, what name have you got for our delicious beer, man?
- 32:32Speaker 3: I went for Jason's Hazy Jizz.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Right, and you'd be happy drinking a beer called Jason's
- 32:40Speaker 4: Hazy Jizz?
- 32:42Speaker 3: Oh, mate. I'll look forward to it.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Good stuff, Gary. You hold the line, brother. You got
- 32:49Speaker 4: yourself an Emerson's hoodie, all right?
- 32:50Speaker 3: Woo-hoo.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Thanks, boys.
- 32:52Speaker 4: No worries, mate.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Have a good evening.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:55Speaker 4: That sounds yum, Jase.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Is the BSA still going or no?
- 33:00Speaker 4: What, the broadcasting? No, I don't think so.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I think it's all G.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Do you have a big frothing pint of that, Jase? Hey,
- 33:12Speaker 4: DunedinBearFestival.co.nz if you want tickets, by the way.
- 33:14Speaker 8: We'll see you down there.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Jeez. What?
- 33:26Speaker 2: His face no more.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope your Friday's absolutely
- 33:33Speaker 1: going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally brought
- 33:36Speaker 1: to you by Reburger. Oh, are you?
- 33:40Speaker 4: Crave with your street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Scrumdiddlyumptious.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Old Keezy over here, he's putting on a brave face.
- 33:49Speaker 5: Kia kaha, man. I'm really proud of you.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah. Thanks, Mogi.
- 33:54Speaker 4: He's proud of me, Jason.
- 33:55Speaker 6: I am.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Are you proud of me, man? Because he's so hung.
- 33:58Speaker 5: I mean, this might be the most hung I've ever
- 34:00Speaker 5: seen Keezy. It definitely is not. Just so bad.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Shocking. As I say, I am literally battling within
- 34:08Speaker 1: myself at the moment to not.
- 34:12Speaker 3: What?
- 34:13Speaker 1: We're really proud of you, Keezy.
- 34:14Speaker 4: What are you having for dinner tonight, Jase?
- 34:18Speaker 1: Well, this is an interesting one. I bet it's hard.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I guarantee it's boring. My wife is going to a
- 34:27Speaker 1: gig tonight.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Oh, giggity, giggity, giggity.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And my daughter's coming back from being away, so I
- 34:36Speaker 1: might make her a chicken korma. You won't.
- 34:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I will.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Got all the ingredients for it. Or I'll just Uber
- 34:43Speaker 1: some stuff in. There we go. Now we're talking. Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Or I might just pick up a takeaway on the
- 34:47Speaker 1: way home.
- 34:48Speaker 5: What are you going to have, Keezy? Because, of course,
- 34:50Speaker 5: you're hung. You're a piece of.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And you've already eaten like four burgers and... five bowls
- 34:55Speaker 1: of dumplings.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Yeah nine meals I've had friends of ours are coming
- 35:01Speaker 4: over for dance night actually oh yeah you'll be loving
- 35:04Speaker 4: that but we're keeping it chill we're just going to
- 35:05Speaker 4: do take out so we're going to go to our
- 35:07Speaker 4: local Thai joint I'm going to get oyster sauce beef
- 35:11Speaker 4: stir fry yeah with cashew on rice yeah a gang
- 35:16Speaker 4: panang red curry yes with chicken nice medium spice nice
- 35:20Speaker 4: nice just trying to figure out what third dish.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Is what's everyone else going to have We're splitting.
- 35:26Speaker 4: It between four of us, Jase, the three dishes, all right?
- 35:28Speaker 4: Maybe a pad thai, maybe a sort of peanut chicken.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 5: And why don't you just sit on the couch sort
- 35:33Speaker 5: of fuming?
- 35:34Speaker 4: Oh, I'm in bed. I'm in bed playing Game Boy.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Doosh, doosh.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Until you go to your sleepover with the fellas tomorrow morning.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Yeah, you've got to save your energy for the fellas.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 5: They're really going to take it out of you.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yeah, good. Cool. Bit of sport chat next, fellas.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Yeah!
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, man, yeah! Here's Soundgarden.
- 35:57Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 36:00Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, the hives there on the Radio Hodaki Big
- 36:05Speaker 1: Show this Friday evening. The time, 13 minutes past six o'clock. Fellas,
- 36:11Speaker 1: let's talk sport. Oh!
- 36:22Speaker 5: Sports.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Sporty, sporty, sport.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Why don't we start with Fellas the Warriors?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Sporty, sporty, sport.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Well, that's first, isn't it, Keezy? Tomorrow afternoon, 5pm at
- 36:32Speaker 5: Mount Smart Stadium, the Warriors go up against the Manly Seagulls.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Don't they, Keezy?
- 36:39Speaker 5: We've just had news that Leke Halasema is out with
- 36:41Speaker 5: a minor ankle niggle, which is bad news for him,
- 36:45Speaker 5: but he'll be back the following weekend, Jase. Don't you fret, brother.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I was fretting, too.
- 36:50Speaker 5: And outside of that, you've got Wade Egan's been rested.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Who else?
- 36:55Speaker 5: Somebody in the Fords. Kurt Capewell. Kurt Capewell, that's right.
- 36:58Speaker 5: How are you feeling about this one, Keezy?
- 37:01Speaker 4: I'm indifferent, to be honest.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Can I ask you about how you feel about the
- 37:05Speaker 5: minor premiership, which is... The minor premiers are the team
- 37:09Speaker 5: that lands the finishes on top of the table at
- 37:12Speaker 5: the end of regular season.
- 37:14Speaker 4: I don't give a shit about it.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Neither do I.
- 37:15Speaker 4: I literally don't care. They talk about.
- 37:17Speaker 5: The money they get won. It's a hundred grand. It's
- 37:20Speaker 5: a pittance. And they split it between everyone, which is cool. Yeah,
- 37:24Speaker 5: it goes to the club.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Which is fine. And it is cool that you get
- 37:28Speaker 4: the minor premiership. But I couldn't tell you, last year
- 37:31Speaker 4: the Panthers were number one?
- 37:33Speaker 1: Nah.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Who?
- 37:34Speaker 5: You'll remember when I tell you this, and you'll remember
- 37:36Speaker 5: for all the wrong reasons... The Canberra Raiders were the
- 37:39Speaker 5: minor premiers, and they went out in straight sets.
- 37:42Speaker 4: That's right.
- 37:42Speaker 5: They rested a whole bunch of players. The week before,
- 37:45Speaker 5: I think it was against the Dolphins. Dolphins put like
- 37:47Speaker 5: 40 or 50 on. It wouldn't have been 50, but
- 37:49Speaker 5: smashed them to bits. And then the following week, I
- 37:53Speaker 5: think they played the Broncos. Yeah, the Broncos came back.
- 37:56Speaker 1: A hell of a game.
- 37:57Speaker 5: One of the great games for Reece Walsh.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Great postseason.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it was out of the gate.
- 38:00Speaker 4: So no, I don't give a shit at all.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Not at all.
- 38:01Speaker 4: And to be honest, we're first or second regardless of
- 38:03Speaker 4: what happens, which I'm stoked about. I will just be
- 38:05Speaker 4: watching it as a slightly steamed, massive fan of the Whas.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Yeah, it's going to be a bloody ripper.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Hey, the All Blacks are playing on Sunday morning again
- 38:13Speaker 1: against the Box.
- 38:14Speaker 5: 10 past 3.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Three changes, I believe, there's been. Asafa Omua.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Asafa Omua, the hooker.
- 38:23Speaker 1: He's replaced. And old Taylor's been dropped. Cody Taylor, yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 1: And he's a bloody good player. He is. And I
- 38:30Speaker 1: don't know if this is an injury, but it must
- 38:32Speaker 1: be because he's been an absolute legend. We've got Sam
- 38:35Speaker 1: Dowie coming in at lock. Yeah, that's right.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Well, the reason why they've decided, and this will be
- 38:41Speaker 5: the first cap for Sam Dowie, Dave Rennie said that
- 38:46Speaker 5: the beauty of Sam Dowie is he's got a massive
- 38:48Speaker 5: engine on him. He goes and goes and goes. Yes.
- 38:51Speaker 5: And given the style of game that they hope to
- 38:53Speaker 5: be playing at, what do you call that there?
- 38:57Speaker 1: Altitude.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Altitude, thank you very much. They think that'll really play
- 39:00Speaker 5: into their favour, so that's played a fairly big part
- 39:03Speaker 5: in that selection, Jase.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be another cracker, let's be honest.
- 39:08Speaker 1: There's been a real war of words between the coaches.
- 39:11Speaker 1: They don't like each other very much, and I like that.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it provides a few stories, doesn't it, which is great.
- 39:17Speaker 5: And this is a three-tier series in South Africa. This
- 39:19Speaker 5: one is the one that matters.
- 39:21Speaker 6: Yes.
- 39:21Speaker 5: If one of the teams is 2-1 up, And then
- 39:25Speaker 5: they go over to Baltimore in a couple of weeks,
- 39:28Speaker 5: whenever that is, and they have those four tests. it
- 39:30Speaker 5: doesn't matter if they square it up. It's the three-test
- 39:33Speaker 5: series in South Africa.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:34Speaker 5: This is the one that matters.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I agree.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Johannesburg, 3.10 a.m. Sunday morning. Are you watching that live, fellas?
- 39:41Speaker 5: No, I'll get up because it'll be Father's Day there,
- 39:44Speaker 5: so I'll get up in the morning and have a croissant, coffee.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Watch that bastard.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Yeah, same.
- 39:49Speaker 1: It's going to be absolutely magnificent, Keith.
- 39:52Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Prime will scream there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
- 39:59Speaker 1: this stormy, blustery and wet Friday evening. And dear.
- 40:04Speaker 7: And dear.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Fellas, I've had an interesting thing come up. I've had
- 40:08Speaker 5: an opportunity. come across my desk there, and I'm going
- 40:12Speaker 5: to be commentating the Warriors game tomorrow night.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Wow, how good.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Warriors versus Manly, 5 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Very, very excited
- 40:21Speaker 5: about it. I've done a fair amount of commentary before, Jase,
- 40:24Speaker 5: with yourself, a little bit with you as well there, Keezy,
- 40:27Speaker 5: but there's mostly been cricket, probably entirely cricket.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Probably all cricket, yeah.
- 40:32Speaker 5: I think all cricket. So I haven't done the Warriors before,
- 40:35Speaker 5: and so... I just thought I should hit you guys up.
- 40:38Speaker 5: I'm a little bit nervous about it because you don't
- 40:39Speaker 5: want to bugger it up.
- 40:40Speaker 1: No.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Are you at the stadium? I'm at the stadium.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Wow, that's cool.
- 40:43Speaker 5: I'm in the box right next door to the away
- 40:46Speaker 5: team's coach's box. So that's going to be interesting. A
- 40:50Speaker 5: hell of a vantage point up there. And, dear, what
- 40:52Speaker 5: an honour.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it's an amazing honour.
- 40:54Speaker 1: It's a rare privilege.
- 40:56Speaker 4: It is because I've done it a few times from
- 40:57Speaker 4: there back when the ACC and Sky were friends.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 4: And it was one of the, like– it's one of
- 41:03Speaker 4: the best things I've done in my career purely because
- 41:05Speaker 4: I love a team so much. I'm sitting in the box.
- 41:07Speaker 4: It was the Sharks, Craig Fitzgibbon and the assistant coaches
- 41:10Speaker 4: were literally next to us and passed them in the
- 41:13Speaker 4: hallway a couple of times and you're calling a game
- 41:15Speaker 4: at Mount Smiley. It's a dream come true.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Now, normally for me, and that's exactly right, Keezy, I
- 41:19Speaker 5: feel exactly the same way. I cannot believe this opportunity.
- 41:22Speaker 5: I'm so over the moon about it and normally I
- 41:24Speaker 5: don't like going to the games because I like to
- 41:25Speaker 5: stay home and watch it on TV so I can
- 41:27Speaker 5: swear and F and Jeff and all that sort of
- 41:30Speaker 5: thing which I can't do. I can't do that at
- 41:32Speaker 5: the game. So, But this is too good. So I
- 41:35Speaker 5: just wanted to ask your advice, especially you, Jase, on
- 41:41Speaker 5: what I should do to prepare.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Well, he would have no idea.
- 41:45Speaker 5: Because I guess it's a little bit different. Just give
- 41:46Speaker 5: us a minute here, Keezy, man. Because I guess the
- 41:50Speaker 5: preparation is slightly different than what it would be around cricket.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, look, I've done them all. Netball? Yeah, netball
- 41:59Speaker 1: is where I started off, Keezy.
- 42:01Speaker 5: He started off netballing when you were still at school,
- 42:04Speaker 5: didn't you?
- 42:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Just commentating the local games. What coverage was that?
- 42:14Speaker 1: But I obviously was over the intercom at our school.
- 42:19Speaker 5: High school, yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Obviously a big occasion, a massive opportunity for you here, Mogey. And,
- 42:30Speaker 1: you know, I understand there would be a few nerves.
- 42:33Speaker 1: It's only natural. It means you care about it.
- 42:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 1: The first thing I would suggest is a few beersies.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Oh, don't worry about that.
- 42:38Speaker 1: A couple of settlers. Yeah. Just, you know, and depending
- 42:43Speaker 1: on what your sort of constitution's like, three or four
- 42:46Speaker 1: or five or six of those. Yeah. Pre-game. Responsibly. Responsibly,
- 42:50Speaker 1: of course, of course. And then just sort of block
- 42:53Speaker 1: them out every 10 minutes from there. You know what
- 42:55Speaker 1: I mean?
- 42:56Speaker 5: We've got a bar next door, so I'm going to
- 42:57Speaker 5: get down there. I think it opens around midday.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Lily World, great spot.
- 43:00Speaker 5: So just a little, you know, get the shakes a
- 43:02Speaker 5: little bit, I do. And so just a couple of
- 43:05Speaker 5: straighteners there.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. And the advantage is, too, you
- 43:08Speaker 1: can hang out there for an hour or two before
- 43:10Speaker 1: the game. I didn't realise there was a bar there.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Yeah, five hours.
- 43:13Speaker 1: And you get the vibe of the fans. You get
- 43:16Speaker 1: the vibe and the atmosphere with a few beersies with
- 43:19Speaker 1: the locals. Good stuff.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I think that'll be good. And I don't think,
- 43:25Speaker 5: you know, I'm just going to try and make it entertaining.
- 43:27Speaker 5: I mean, the people that we're doing it for are
- 43:29Speaker 5: actually in the United Kingdom.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Funnily enough. Yes.
- 43:32Speaker 5: And I think they're quite a serious rugby league team.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Set up. But, you know, I thought we'd give it
- 43:37Speaker 5: a bit of the ACC treatment, you know.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Here's old sideline comments mogi from in the box. He's
- 43:43Speaker 5: absolutely hammered.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Wait, so this is this warrior's life, right?
- 43:47Speaker 1: The podcast. Great guys.
- 43:50Speaker 4: And they've managed to bag this opportunity.
- 43:52Speaker 1: For UK coverage.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Great podcast.
- 43:54Speaker 4: And you're going to show up wasted and provide colour
- 43:57Speaker 4: commentary and turn it into an ACC commentary.
- 43:59Speaker 5: Oh, there'll be colour, right?
- 44:01Speaker 4: I reckon that's a great idea.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Well, it just sort of feels like.
- 44:06Speaker 5: If anything goes wrong, it's not my problem.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Totally. Who cares? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:10Speaker 5: So the guys from This Warrior's Life, they're really taking
- 44:13Speaker 5: it seriously, and I just sort of feel like, Just
- 44:15Speaker 5: drink your way through it.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And I'll be honest with you, Mogi. I'll be honest
- 44:18Speaker 1: with you, mate. There's so many podcasts around. You know,
- 44:20Speaker 1: if this turns into a disaster, you know, he's out
- 44:22Speaker 1: effing and jeffing after a few beersies or whatever, don't
- 44:25Speaker 1: worry about it, man. There'll be another opportunity somewhere down
- 44:27Speaker 1: the line.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 44:28Speaker 4: You'll find a podcast soon.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Go in guns blazing. Thanks, man. You know what I mean?
- 44:32Speaker 1: Just don't hold back. Be true to yourself. Oh, I
- 44:35Speaker 1: appreciate that. Wild Child.
- 44:38Speaker 4: It's the name of the song from the Black Keys.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Oh!
- 44:41Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Pixies here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening.
- 44:49Speaker 1: We're heading into the weekend, fellas, so let's give out
- 44:52Speaker 1: some much-needed advice. Be pretty nips 69 at gmail.com. Get
- 45:01Speaker 1: in touch with the fellas. With the fellas.
- 45:04Speaker 6: With the fellas.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Fellas, why don't we stop singing to that?
- 45:08Speaker 4: You decided to stop singing.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Did I? Because Jase kept yelling.
- 45:11Speaker 1: No, no, no. That wasn't it. It was because.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Pugs complained that we were ruining the song.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we were ruining it.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Or you complained that we were ruining the song. No,
- 45:17Speaker 1: it was more Keezy. It was Keezy complaining.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Because you started singing. You were singing really well at
- 45:20Speaker 4: first and then you just started going.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Which had a real charm to it, I thought. Certainly
- 45:26Speaker 5: it had a.
- 45:27Speaker 1: A charm to it?
- 45:28Speaker 4: Hey, fellas, great questions come in here to meetpaddynips69 at gmail.com.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Do you want to answer this one, Keezy? No, no,
- 45:34Speaker 4: you guys are all G. This one's anonymous, of course.
- 45:36Speaker 4: If we read it on the show, $ 50 reberg about you.
- 45:38Speaker 5: You can have a turn, man.
- 45:39Speaker 4: No, this is actually specifically good for you two.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Okay.
- 45:43Speaker 4: G'day, fellas.
- 45:44Speaker 1: If it's age-related, I'll be fuming.
- 45:47Speaker 6: G'day, fellas.
- 45:48Speaker 4: I'm 80. Nah, I'm just joking. G'day, fellas. My wife
- 45:51Speaker 4: and I are about to have our first baby.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 45:54Speaker 4: And I'm wanting to know when a reasonable and responsible
- 45:56Speaker 4: period of time after the birth that I could go
- 45:58Speaker 4: and play some golf. My wife is an avid listener,
- 46:02Speaker 4: so I'm really hoping the fellas can back me up
- 46:04Speaker 4: here and put in a good word. Keep in mind,
- 46:05Speaker 4: this will probably be a good chat for Keezy as
- 46:07Speaker 4: he'll be having his baby in no time as well.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Cheers, Anonymous. Well, he names you, man. He names you.
- 46:11Speaker 1: So he's absolutely right.
- 46:13Speaker 6: I mean.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Well, I'm not having a baby, by the way. Let's
- 46:16Speaker 1: just say you were.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Why?
- 46:17Speaker 1: Why don't we just use it on EG? No, I'm
- 46:20Speaker 1: just saying, isn't it? Okay, fine. From your perspective, when
- 46:25Speaker 1: would you feel most comfortable going and having a thwack
- 46:29Speaker 1: with old Hoity J? Oh, with you? Yeah, yeah.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Oh, I reckon I'd have to give it like five years. No,
- 46:35Speaker 4: I reckon it's hard to say.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm not a dad.
- 46:37Speaker 4: You guys have been dads.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Have been.
- 46:40Speaker 4: And continue to be dads.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Well.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Oh, you all right, man? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Can you go and pat him on the back? He's choking.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Get him, man.
- 46:50Speaker 5: Go and cough him. Cough him up. There you go, man.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Harder.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Harder.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Harder than that.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I would, I think from recollection when my firstborn was born,
- 47:04Speaker 1: it was three years before I played my next game.
- 47:09Speaker 3: What?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Yeah but but having said that you weren't big into
- 47:12Speaker 1: it though were you no i hadn't started playing at
- 47:14Speaker 1: that stage so it was i started three years after
- 47:19Speaker 1: she was born.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Right so it literally doesn't apply is what you're saying
- 47:23Speaker 4: what about you mogi because it's a four or five
- 47:24Speaker 4: hour commitment.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Well the funny thing about it is you're probably your
- 47:30Speaker 5: best off you can you see what you think about
- 47:34Speaker 5: this jace You spend a day, maybe two, at the
- 47:38Speaker 5: hospital just for a little bit of recovery and then
- 47:40Speaker 5: you've got the terrifying drive home with your baby on
- 47:45Speaker 5: board for the first time. Absolutely terrifying. You're driving along
- 47:48Speaker 5: at about three kilometres an hour, actually increasing your chances
- 47:51Speaker 5: of crashing, weirdly enough. And then you get the kid home. Really,
- 47:58Speaker 5: drop them off on the porch, have your clubs in
- 48:00Speaker 5: the boot and then just go.
- 48:01Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 48:02Speaker 1: Straight away? 100% because you'll find.
- 48:05Speaker 5: That for the first six weeks, the baby is just
- 48:08Speaker 5: asleep 100% of the time. It wakes up for a feed,
- 48:11Speaker 5: but there's nothing you can do to help there.
- 48:13Speaker 4: So you might as well play golf.
- 48:14Speaker 5: The thing about it is, by the time it gets
- 48:16Speaker 5: to this point, baby pregnant, birth, got it home, everyone's
- 48:23Speaker 5: at home.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 48:24Speaker 5: You've done your job, man. You're good to go. You've
- 48:27Speaker 5: got probably 18 months to three and a half years
- 48:32Speaker 5: before you have to do anything, really. It's really once
- 48:34Speaker 5: the sort of sports stuff comes in.
- 48:36Speaker 4: Don't you provide support and stuff to the mum?
- 48:38Speaker 5: Yeah, but that can all be done via text.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Oh, right. Okay, I didn't know that. It's probably a
- 48:45Speaker 1: good time in that scenario to buy a membership. You
- 48:49Speaker 1: know what I mean? Yeah, like a full year. Yeah,
- 48:51Speaker 1: like a full year membership. Because you're going to have
- 48:54Speaker 1: a lot of free time. It's a pretty lonely business,
- 48:56Speaker 1: isn't it, sometimes?
- 48:57Speaker 5: Can I say when your wife or girlfriend posts on Instagram,
- 49:01Speaker 5: like all the baby photos and everything like that, Make
- 49:04Speaker 5: sure you like and comment so she feels like you're participating.
- 49:07Speaker 1: That's a good shout, fellas.
- 49:08Speaker 4: Well, there you go. I hope that helps.
- 49:10Speaker 1: All the best for that, by the way. Yeah.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Let us know how it goes.
- 49:14Speaker 4: Meet PaddyNip69 at gmail.com if you ever need help.
- 49:17Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4pm. on Radio Hauraki.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I reckon we should extend this last breakout for as
- 49:41Speaker 1: long as possible because Keezy's back. He's loving it. He's
- 49:45Speaker 1: desperate to get over it. He's like, can you just
- 49:50Speaker 1: shush up and get over that?
- 49:52Speaker 4: But for some reason, you decide you're going to go
- 49:53Speaker 4: really big on the last break and really drag it out. Like,
- 49:56Speaker 4: just let's get this thing.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Done, man. Okay. Now, listen, we do the disclaimer, which
- 50:01Speaker 1: is a bonus podcast. What's the clip today, Keezy?
- 50:04Speaker 4: Today's bonus podcast clip is called Public Shaming, and it
- 50:08Speaker 4: comes out at 7.30 tonight wherever you get your podcasts from.
- 50:10Speaker 5: Now, before you play that, Keezy, man, What? How's it
- 50:14Speaker 5: all going?
- 50:15Speaker 4: Yeah, good, man.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 50:18Speaker 4: I get there to pick up my order. It's not
- 50:20Speaker 4: ready yet, though. I haven't even started cooking it yet.
- 50:21Speaker 4: So I have to sit there for 10 minutes. And
- 50:24Speaker 4: I'm just sitting there, and then I just hear this like.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Do-doosh, do-doosh.
- 50:27Speaker 4: And this prick is driving past in his car yelling
- 50:30Speaker 4: do-doosh at me. And I'm just like, f * * *
- 50:33Speaker 4: ing hell. I just want to have my shameful hungover food.
- 50:38Speaker 1: In peace.
- 50:41Speaker 5: In peace. If you listen to the podcast, you'll find
- 50:44Speaker 5: out what that is. If you can get in touch
- 50:46Speaker 5: with the Hauraki Big Show, that fella, we'll get him
- 50:49Speaker 5: out a backbone T-shirt because he is absolutely done, Keezy, there. Yeah, totally.
- 50:52Speaker 4: This isn't a thing, Mogi. Mogi's trying to make it
- 50:54Speaker 4: he's done you there. Specifically me.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Nah, anyone.
- 50:58Speaker 5: It can be anyone.
- 50:59Speaker 4: What about we get T-shirts made of He's done you there, Keezy,
- 51:03Speaker 4: and it's me on all fours looking over my shoulder.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I think that'll sell really well, actually.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Can somebody out there make that image for us? We've
- 51:12Speaker 5: got some great images getting made. Make that image for us.
- 51:15Speaker 5: Send it through to old Pugs on there.
- 51:17Speaker 4: And Pugs will get it.
- 51:17Speaker 5: And Pugs will get it made into a T-shirt in
- 51:19Speaker 5: a couple of years.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Make your plans for tonight the weekend.
- 51:24Speaker 5: I'll be honest with you, man. I've got a bit
- 51:26Speaker 5: of a– I'm pretty keen to get on it. Yeah, okay.
- 51:30Speaker 5: But I've got a day in front of me tomorrow,
- 51:31Speaker 5: so I'll try and restrain myself. Then the other thing is,
- 51:34Speaker 5: of course, I've got Father's Day on Sunday there.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 51:38Speaker 5: So I can be a little bit hungover that day
- 51:40Speaker 5: if I want to be.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 51:41Speaker 5: But I might want to have a lovely day with
- 51:43Speaker 5: the family.
- 51:43Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 51:44Speaker 5: I haven't decided. Of course, the other option is, of course,
- 51:46Speaker 5: I've got to watch the rugby there on Sunday morning,
- 51:51Speaker 5: and I'm going to watch that with a croissant and
- 51:54Speaker 5: a little cup of coffee there, and yeah.
- 51:57Speaker 1: What are you doing this weekend, Jase? Well, I don't know.
- 52:00Speaker 1: It's your turn, Keezy. No, you're not going last. You're
- 52:03Speaker 1: not going last. You've got your boys weekend tomorrow. I'm
- 52:06Speaker 1: worried about this. 20 dudes getting together at 10 o'clock
- 52:10Speaker 1: tomorrow out in Clevedon.
- 52:12Speaker 4: For the official blessing of the Dobros. Yes, apparently, whatever
- 52:14Speaker 4: that means.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 52:16Speaker 4: And we've all pitched in to fly a bloke up
- 52:18Speaker 4: from Christchurch as of tonight as well. So he's stoked,
- 52:22Speaker 4: which is lovely.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's lovely. Really good. What are you doing, Jase? Oh,
- 52:28Speaker 1: this is the thing. You know, it's funny because... Hey, we'll.
- 52:31Speaker 4: Be back Monday.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Especially with weekends. We'll be back Monday. Keezy, please! I'm
- 52:35Speaker 1: in this really weird position, actually, at the moment, where...
- 52:39Speaker 1: Because my wife's going to a show tonight, and it's like,
- 52:43Speaker 1: do we meet before her show? And my daughter's coming home,
- 52:46Speaker 1: so I'm just trying to figure out... Do I cook
- 52:49Speaker 1: some food and see if she wants to do that,
- 52:53Speaker 1: or do I just let my wife go to a
- 52:55Speaker 1: show and then my daughter and I maybe get something?
- 53:00Speaker 1: But then on the Sunday, we were meant to be
- 53:04Speaker 1: having lunch with a mate of ours, but she's got
- 53:06Speaker 1: the flu. And I think tomorrow my wife and I
- 53:11Speaker 1: were going to do the– Our normal safety morning in
- 53:15Speaker 1: the CBD. Just go for a little breakfast. Jesse, you
- 53:18Speaker 1: please shut up.
