- 0:18Speaker 1: Return to Glory Podcast by week edition Hunter's arm Ticky
- 0:21Speaker 1: Austin rose to go to free Tag.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I just had to scowl at awesome shirt.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It was free.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It was free, and I don't care. It's a really
- 0:31Speaker 1: nice he's wearing the baby blue Creating Blue Jay's shirt.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I we might just have to put you might have
- 0:36Speaker 1: to just go black here this whole time.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Are you no? God?
- 0:42Speaker 3: No, I golfed in their employee rec league.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Okay, it makes sense.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I guess if you participate, you get a free shirt.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Bye week, and we're starting off with Creating Blue Jay talk.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's you started it. No, I did not start nothing.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You're the one wearing the shirt.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm wearing the shirt, but I didn't say anything about it.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Someone asked me tonight you oh, you're watching the game tonight,
- 1:08Speaker 3: and I was like, I have no idea what the
- 1:09Speaker 3: hell you're talking about.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah, when you first came out, I thought that was
- 1:12Speaker 4: a royal shirt.
- 1:14Speaker 3: There you go, royal blue.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:16Speaker 4: There they just lost.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Thanks Dak.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Well, Hey, my Mets though going to the Alcs there.
- 1:25Speaker 4: God, I will say, Philly scumbags can go home.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Not a big Mets fan, but enough that I'll follow
- 1:32Speaker 2: them along in the postseason if they make it, which
- 1:35Speaker 2: they usually don't.
- 1:37Speaker 3: You're big enough. You're big enough that they're like, hey,
- 1:40Speaker 3: pick a team for Hunter. I would have said Mets,
- 1:42Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 1:44Speaker 2: You would have known.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I don't care if anybody watches a single MLB game.
- 1:48Speaker 4: The regular scene sucks. The PUS season the best you
- 1:52Speaker 4: can claim when every team you want during the playoffs.
- 1:54Speaker 3: It's true. No, there's no reason to watch before October.
- 1:58Speaker 4: No or basic.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Okay, it is bye week.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Clearly, Nebraska's five and one heading into their first bye week.
- 2:11Speaker 1: No matter how we got here, we are here, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: we have a couple of things we're gonna do here
- 2:18Speaker 1: the next few episodes. First, we're gonna give out some
- 2:22Speaker 1: mid season awards. We are also halfway through the season,
- 2:26Speaker 1: and because society just loves awards and everybody gets an award,
- 2:30Speaker 1: we're gonna have a little mid season award show.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Today.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And then we'll talk some Nebraska basketball in our next episode,
- 2:39Speaker 1: as that's coming up here right before we know it,
- 2:42Speaker 1: coming off Attorney birth, not Attorney win, but hopefully Attorney
- 2:46Speaker 1: win in the future. Guys, First question, bye week, what
- 2:54Speaker 1: is the purpose of a bye week? What should we
- 2:57Speaker 1: be focused on? I know it's a very generic question,
- 3:00Speaker 1: but Nebraska as an opportunity to make a bowl game
- 3:04Speaker 1: for the first time in several years, and we are
- 3:09Speaker 1: one game away. Last year we were five and three
- 3:12Speaker 1: at one point. I can't remember what we were heading
- 3:14Speaker 1: into our first by week, but here we are five
- 3:17Speaker 1: and one. I would say there's games in our schedule
- 3:21Speaker 1: that we should feel confident we can make a bull
- 3:24Speaker 1: game and then add to that total. But we have
- 3:29Speaker 1: an extra week here. What should the focus be for
- 3:33Speaker 1: the for the team this week?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Austin.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I mean the obvious one is just health. Get yourself healthy,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and you get an extra week of practice and a
- 3:42Speaker 3: little bit more rest. I mean, you get a little
- 3:45Speaker 3: extra preparation time for Indiana. But you know, is that
- 3:49Speaker 3: really going to benefit that much more? I don't know
- 3:53Speaker 3: that part attack here, but it's probably mostly just getting health.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And then you get a little extra time in practice
- 3:57Speaker 3: to get reps on those things that you're kind of
- 3:59Speaker 3: need to tweak a little bit. Oh, kicking field goals,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you get an extra week of that. Outside of that,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I think it's yeah, definitely just downtime.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Jear's all right, Yeah, that was mine. Definitely special teams.
- 4:16Speaker 4: You gotta figure out what are you gonna do there,
- 4:19Speaker 4: Like you've got two weeks to figure out if you
- 4:22Speaker 4: can kick the ball at all, and what you're gonna
- 4:24Speaker 4: do from that point. And then yeah, besides that, get
- 4:26Speaker 4: healthy and basically just normal practice. Like it's kind of
- 4:30Speaker 4: like springball a little bit.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Right, the machines in motion at this point, you can
- 4:34Speaker 3: only tweak it so much.
- 4:36Speaker 4: You know, there's one position that you need to fix,
- 4:39Speaker 4: and you gotta fix it during these two weeks if
- 4:42Speaker 4: you can.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Well, it does sound like Albano is gonna see how
- 4:47Speaker 1: things go, so he might come back, and I guess
- 4:50Speaker 1: maybe help us in that category. Here's my thought on
- 4:55Speaker 1: these couple of weeks. Yes, obviously getting healthy is important.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Good news is I don't know that we're two banged
- 5:00Speaker 1: up across the board. As far as injuries that are
- 5:03Speaker 1: more short term. We obviously know some of the longer
- 5:06Speaker 1: term injuries that have already occurred. But you know, guys
- 5:09Speaker 1: like Javon Wright, who has played the past couple of
- 5:12Speaker 1: weeks a little more minutes.
- 5:14Speaker 2: He was a guy coming into this year.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I think that everybody had pretty high if not at
- 5:18Speaker 1: the top of that linebacking corps, and he now has
- 5:21Speaker 1: a chance to come back. Tommy Hill the other one,
- 5:23Speaker 1: dealing with that planner fasci itis.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Something going on every week Bushini.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So there's little things like that that I think, yes,
- 5:32Speaker 2: that can focus on. But here's the thing, this Indiana
- 5:35Speaker 2: game is gonna be It's gonna be huge and tickoff.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I don't know coming into the year if we exactly
- 5:45Speaker 2: saw this coming, but I do think we knew that
- 5:49Speaker 2: our schedule was favorable, and that Indiana's schedule was probably favorable.
- 5:52Speaker 2: We maybe didn't think that they were that good.
- 5:57Speaker 3: The consensus of this pod was definitely Indiana's gonna be shit.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yes, So that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I just I still don't and we'll get to Indiana.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I just still don't know exactly how good they are.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I mean, you look at their schedule, it's hard to tell.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Right in Northwestern that game was seventeen. It really wasn't
- 6:17Speaker 1: when you actually looked at what happened in the game.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It'll be interesting. It's a big game, and I'm glad
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's a big game. I'm glad they're ranked. I'm glad
- 6:25Speaker 1: we're not. And both teams get an extra week to prepare.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So in my mind, yes, getting rest and healthy that
- 6:34Speaker 1: should be kind of the focus here. I mean, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: would say up until today, but I think we really
- 6:40Speaker 1: need to use the extra time to start doing Indiana stuff,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and not to the point that we're necessarily getting out
- 6:47Speaker 1: of our quote unquote routine, but we need to start
- 6:50Speaker 1: installing things that they do, especially I would say on
- 6:53Speaker 1: the defensive end, to get ready for this offense. It's
- 6:58Speaker 1: averaging over forty points a game, and I think that
- 7:00Speaker 1: should be starting now. I do think there's a little
- 7:05Speaker 1: bit to say with you know, the game week prep
- 7:07Speaker 1: and I think coaches in the media like to make
- 7:10Speaker 1: that a bigger deal than it really is. And the
- 7:13Speaker 1: routine and this on Sunday, this on Monday, this on Tuesday.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I get there's a part of a routine, but I
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't think that matters that much to college kids. I
- 7:22Speaker 1: really don't in the grand scheme of things. So I mean,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think you take the advantage of the time that
- 7:28Speaker 1: you have and.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Do that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't know what we're doing. I have no idea,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but that's my consensus on it is. Yeah, I rest up,
- 7:36Speaker 1: but at the same time hit it hard.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Here.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I mean kind of starting now with the guys that
- 7:41Speaker 1: can hit it hard, and let's have a good physical
- 7:45Speaker 1: week of practice this week.
- 7:47Speaker 3: If you rather have the Yeah, would you rather have
- 7:48Speaker 3: the physical week this week and a little more rest
- 7:51Speaker 3: the next week or you're going to have a reverse.
- 7:52Speaker 1: For I mean, I'm I'm I know this is probably
- 7:55Speaker 1: not the right answer, but I'd say both.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Like. I just I like physical. I think you should
- 8:00Speaker 2: be doing that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And yeah, that might come in a little bit of
- 8:02Speaker 1: sacrifice of injuries, but I think in the long run
- 8:04Speaker 1: that pays off more often than not. Mentality and physicality standpoint.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That might just be old old school football me talking.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm sure trainers and everybody like that has different facts
- 8:18Speaker 1: and data to back that up. That might not be
- 8:20Speaker 1: the smartest idea, but I think we need to keep
- 8:23Speaker 1: hit at heart and have that right mindset and mentality
- 8:26Speaker 1: because this game is going to be a huge one
- 8:30Speaker 1: in a week and a half.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yeah, big here and kickoff. It's Joe Klatt's all excited
- 8:37Speaker 3: about Indiana being undefeated going up against Ohio State at
- 8:40Speaker 3: some point the Big Ten championship.
- 8:42Speaker 4: So you just don't want to lose, which easily could
- 8:49Speaker 4: happen these next two games, the momentum built, you don't
- 8:52Speaker 4: want to lose that all. Now, it doesn't.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Feel like we have a big momentum. You know, we
- 8:58Speaker 3: definitely have momentum, But does I feel like this unstoppable
- 9:00Speaker 3: force like it definitely feels very very tripable.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't want to get killed though these next
- 9:06Speaker 4: two games, the one, the next one after that. If
- 9:09Speaker 4: you get killed, you get killed. This Indian the one.
- 9:11Speaker 4: You don't want to get absolutely slaughtered.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Dak, you're speaking.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I mean, I just I don't think we're getting slaughtered
- 9:20Speaker 1: by Indiana.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Last night you said no shot you win, But last
- 9:27Speaker 4: night you said, no shot you win that game?
- 9:29Speaker 2: Which game?
- 9:31Speaker 4: Indiana?
- 9:33Speaker 1: You do realize why I said that? Because I'm going
- 9:36Speaker 1: to the game. That's I didn't okay, I didn't have
- 9:38Speaker 1: any other rule.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I'm going forget get it.
- 9:44Speaker 2: That's why we have no shot at winning. It's because
- 9:46Speaker 2: I'm gone.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Okay, you went to a winning road game last year,
- 9:51Speaker 3: didn't you.
- 9:52Speaker 1: No, I have a twenty seventeen perdue in a twenty
- 9:55Speaker 1: nineteen Illinois and that is it.
- 9:58Speaker 4: I remember really well. Game he went to last year
- 10:01Speaker 4: that he lost lost some money on Michigan State.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Yes, we did so, Yeah, I guess to me, we
- 10:12Speaker 1: won't know, I guess. But let's get focused on Indiana.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I think now podcast wise, we're not gonna do that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: We're gonna take a little break. We're also gonna take
- 10:20Speaker 1: a break Saturday and enjoy some really good football games.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Dak is our one in particular, you're interested in.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Yep, two thirty ABC red River s sal You can't
- 10:31Speaker 4: say shoot out anymore, the Red River rivalry.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I thought you were gonna say Army versu UAP. But yeah, that.
- 10:40Speaker 4: God, I can't wait for that one. Well, A little
- 10:45Speaker 4: surprised me in the podcast with that one.
- 10:48Speaker 1: All right, well, let's get to our award show. Here,
- 10:52Speaker 1: here's how this is going to work. We have how
- 10:55Speaker 1: many is that? Nineteen eleven, twelve, thirty fourteen awards to
- 10:58Speaker 1: give out? We have an Elite and a Platinum award
- 11:02Speaker 1: here at the top. We're gonna put a lead above platinum.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I don't know if that's right or wrong. Yeah, all
- 11:08Speaker 1: three of us have to mutually agree upon.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Those two. We were each gonna give our nominations and
- 11:16Speaker 2: then we'll see who can be swayed their gold. We're
- 11:19Speaker 2: gonna get out three. Each of us are going to
- 11:22Speaker 2: give out one of those silver. We're gonna get out three,
- 11:24Speaker 2: and then we're each gonna mutually agree upon one. More
- 11:28Speaker 2: so at four silver and then five bronze. Uh, these
- 11:32Speaker 2: are all awards, just so everybody knows. We had the
- 11:34Speaker 2: conversation Dak was giving out bronze awards as a punishment,
- 11:38Speaker 2: so he was.
- 11:39Speaker 3: At everyone knows bronze in the Olympics.
- 11:42Speaker 4: It's bad.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It's bad and us I don't understand that logic at all,
- 11:48Speaker 1: but you'll use it.
- 11:49Speaker 4: As a punishment.
- 11:50Speaker 3: You did message in our group chat the worst and
- 11:54Speaker 3: I thought he meant as an additional award, more like
- 11:57Speaker 3: a superlative. But now it's that interpretation.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Well, and we can give a worse a word if
- 12:06Speaker 1: we want. I think there's a pretty obvious answer for that,
- 12:09Speaker 1: but we'll see if we have time for that at
- 12:12Speaker 1: the end. So let's just do this from the top,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and I will tell you guys, I'm gonna go first,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but I will have the ability to be swayed here
- 12:21Speaker 1: the first one, and there's reasoning behind. I don't have
- 12:27Speaker 1: what I have, but I think the one that's most deserving. Okay,
- 12:32Speaker 1: hold on, build the suspension up, take a step back.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I am doing this based on what I expected, like
- 12:41Speaker 1: in August before the season started. Here's what I expected
- 12:45Speaker 1: out of our team, and here's where we're at now.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And here's where the players are at. The unit, the coaches,
- 12:52Speaker 1: the group of players. However you want to group them
- 12:56Speaker 1: up or individually award them, you can do it that way.
- 12:59Speaker 1: There's no specific way of doing it. That's how I'm
- 13:02Speaker 1: viewing it. There could be different ways of viewing it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You can can comparing to last year. You could be
- 13:07Speaker 1: comparing over the last couple of weeks. But I'm doing
- 13:09Speaker 1: it from you know, first six games compared to what
- 13:11Speaker 1: I expected before the year.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So with that being.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Said, my nomination is the front. I'm gonna call six
- 13:19Speaker 1: to eight on the defensive side of the ball that
- 13:23Speaker 1: consists of our D line and our interior linebackers. I
- 13:26Speaker 1: think this is a little bit of fresh from the
- 13:29Speaker 1: Rutgers game on how well they played. My only hesitant,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and there should not be a hesitance right with your
- 13:35Speaker 1: top top nomination, was they were kind of the reason
- 13:38Speaker 1: why we lost the Illinois game.
- 13:41Speaker 2: So that's why I can be swayed.
- 13:44Speaker 1: But that was my nomination for the Elite because they
- 13:46Speaker 1: are also the reason why we've won some of the
- 13:49Speaker 1: games that we've won.
- 13:50Speaker 2: For Doe Rutgers Colorado, Colorado.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Could not get anything going up front and the pressure
- 13:57Speaker 1: that we got on shd Or Sanders.
- 13:59Speaker 3: So zero rushing TDS zero.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yes, there's a lot of reasons.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I think that this front seven six to eight, however
- 14:07Speaker 1: many you want to put in that bucket deserve this sword.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Okay, I don't know. It's not a bad one. So
- 14:15Speaker 3: I will ask for some input on what the technical
- 14:18Speaker 3: It's a group, do what you want to do, Okay.
- 14:21Speaker 3: So I said the twenty twenty four recruiting class is
- 14:29Speaker 3: that fair or should be their recruiting staff, because I
- 14:32Speaker 3: mean you start to run through, here are transfers for
- 14:34Speaker 3: this year, just the transfers. You've got sail right, Stefan Thompson,
- 14:38Speaker 3: Mike Muskua, Jamal Banks, Danton Dados na Or and black Hill,
- 14:43Speaker 3: which would probably be getting some serious playtime. People wasn't hurt,
- 14:45Speaker 3: but the rest of them are all very active. Who
- 14:50Speaker 3: is not hurt? And then you run the freshman class.
- 14:53Speaker 3: You know you have Dylan rey La, Carter Nelson, j
- 14:56Speaker 3: Cory Blarney, Willis Mcgahe's had some good reps.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I like that one I could.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I didn't think about it that I didn't do it, so.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I didn't know if that if I wanted it to
- 15:09Speaker 3: do it as the recruiting people who brought them in,
- 15:11Speaker 3: or if it was as the class itself. But I'll
- 15:14Speaker 3: probably stick with the class. At this point, it kind
- 15:15Speaker 3: of feels cheating.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Let's call them.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Let's call them the newcomers, the newcomers, because recruiting class
- 15:22Speaker 1: I just I don't I don't to me include the
- 15:24Speaker 1: transfer class and that for whatever reason.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So for this sick let's call it the newcomers.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you run through it, and more than half of
- 15:32Speaker 3: our starters are probably new this year. Or they should
- 15:37Speaker 3: say impact players.
- 15:41Speaker 4: I'm giving it to uh Tony White because uh his
- 15:47Speaker 4: game playing against Colorado and Rutgers especially, he just completely
- 15:52Speaker 4: shut down both those teams. And you look at when
- 15:54Speaker 4: they Colorado has played other teams, they their offenses look great.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Now after you guys played, and the Rutgers I wouldn't
- 16:01Speaker 4: say great, but they looked like a pre decent offense.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Really shut down the whole the whole game play against
- 16:06Speaker 4: those teams. Now, like you said, the ill annoy game,
- 16:11Speaker 4: that does a little wrench in it. So I don't
- 16:13Speaker 4: know that's how I can give it to you telling
- 16:15Speaker 4: why just just because those two games right there, the
- 16:17Speaker 4: biggest game of your year. He completely shut down Colorado's
- 16:19Speaker 4: offense and everything they wanted to do.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Gosh.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So okay, so that one correlates with mine, right, yeah, Gosh,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I like Austin's.
- 16:33Speaker 4: I didn't think about I'm.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Trying to think if I'm trying to think if we're
- 16:36Speaker 1: too broad there, if we can just encompass.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I think we're can encompass it all. I like that.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I feel, yeah, I can't. That's where I was like,
- 16:44Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a proper grouping.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Oh my only hesitance, But I don't think it's justifiable
- 16:51Speaker 1: here is maybe that's just college football now in general.
- 16:55Speaker 1: With the transfer portal now, obviously our freshman all are
- 17:01Speaker 1: impacting in a completely different way. Two of those freshmen
- 17:03Speaker 1: have been named to the what I don't even know
- 17:06Speaker 1: what the list is.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I saw something online.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Right, all.
- 17:11Speaker 3: All American Freshman Team.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Or something, whichever site put that out there. I don't know.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I'm good with going to the newcomers.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Three of our top four receivers are new, our top
- 17:21Speaker 3: running back is new, our quarterback is obviously new. One
- 17:26Speaker 3: of our like say, you're right, has the second most
- 17:30Speaker 3: turnovers on the defense something like that, maybe third most.
- 17:34Speaker 1: We we might get some crap for that being like
- 17:36Speaker 1: a cop out answer, maybe, but I I.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Mean recruiting staff, maybe talent talent evaluators.
- 17:44Speaker 2: We'll leave the newcomers. I like that as a group.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I like it as a unit because I had defense
- 17:48Speaker 1: on here's one of mine for something later.
- 17:50Speaker 2: But okay, let's do that.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So Elite Award winner, the twenty four newcomers to the team,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and I will just say they have made a huge
- 18:03Speaker 1: difference on both ends of the ball from a team
- 18:06Speaker 1: last year that I think we were obviously starting a
- 18:09Speaker 1: new rebuild with a big talent disparity from some of
- 18:16Speaker 1: these other teams from what we have now.
- 18:19Speaker 4: So uh, I like it.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Okay, platinum right below that, we we can go defense.
- 18:31Speaker 1: My other person I had right here is Dylan Rayola. Yea,
- 18:38Speaker 1: if we're gonna go newcomers and stick pretty broad there,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't know I'm gonna argue for pushing for an
- 18:48Speaker 1: individual player here versus a unit.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Okay, I would push for Tony White. Then personally, Delan
- 18:56Speaker 3: Riolas looked really good and obviously he's been a big
- 19:00Speaker 3: difference in this year's team, But I don't know if
- 19:04Speaker 3: his play on the field has been he hasn't lost
- 19:07Speaker 3: his games. I don't know if he's been has he
- 19:09Speaker 3: won you, Yeah, I don't know if he's been a
- 19:11Speaker 3: position where he had to win us a game.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So my thought is Riola has.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Just from a simple not turning them ball over standpoint
- 19:22Speaker 1: has done a lot. Why I didn't want to put
- 19:24Speaker 1: him at the top, one is that I didn't want to.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Award him too much.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Already type of deal, like my expectations going into the year.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And some people have said that they think he is
- 19:40Speaker 1: going unhuman and all this stuff. Well, I think that
- 19:43Speaker 1: also is part of based on what we have last year.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So if you're comparing it to our quarterback play last year,
- 19:48Speaker 1: Dylan Royola would be the elite Award winner in a heartbeat,
- 19:52Speaker 1: like absoletely different.
- 19:55Speaker 3: If you compared to an average quarterback, he's definitely better,
- 19:58Speaker 3: But is he better than I mean, if you were
- 20:02Speaker 3: considering Tony Dylan.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Royola is a top three to five quarterback in the
- 20:06Speaker 1: Big ten. There's no doubt about that. Is he the
- 20:08Speaker 1: clear cut number one right now? No, if he were
- 20:12Speaker 1: to get the Elite Award already, we would be saying,
- 20:16Speaker 1: we would be arguing the.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Case that he would be a one and two.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And maybe that is because he doesn't have the talent
- 20:21Speaker 1: around him yet to be able to do that. He's
- 20:24Speaker 1: doing what he needs to do and this is what
- 20:26Speaker 1: I thought he would do and maybe a little bit better.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to say he's underperformed. He's done better,
- 20:32Speaker 1: but he's definitely a player like that has changed the
- 20:38Speaker 1: entire scope of the program. But there's a lot more
- 20:42Speaker 1: to come. It's not like he's changed it all right now.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Now.
- 20:46Speaker 1: We hope that what he's done now has started that
- 20:49Speaker 1: and we're moving in that direction, but we're not there yet.
- 20:54Speaker 4: If you can, if you compare it to last year,
- 20:57Speaker 4: he wins every war on this list.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's the whole argument here. He's not he's
- 21:05Speaker 2: not at that level.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Based on what we thought coming into the year in August,
- 21:13Speaker 1: we thought Dylan Rayola was going to be good. When
- 21:15Speaker 1: you know, we're like, he's gonna be gonna improve us
- 21:18Speaker 1: a ton, you know, obviously couldn't get worse. But all
- 21:21Speaker 1: we heard was, you know, these quarterbacks are getting better.
- 21:24Speaker 1: We didn't know who the starter was gonna be. Everybody
- 21:25Speaker 1: just assumed it was Dylan.
- 21:27Speaker 2: It was Dylan.
- 21:27Speaker 1: He comes out, does some pretty neat things right good place.
- 21:32Speaker 1: He could be elite. Like he looks don't get me wrong,
- 21:37Speaker 1: he looks really good.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I just don't know if he's play said you run
- 21:40Speaker 3: through the teams three of our wins, Tyny Carbard probably
- 21:44Speaker 3: wins those games too.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Now, I'm not gonna go that far.
- 21:50Speaker 4: He won those games exceeded exceed your guys excitations or
- 21:54Speaker 4: is he like what do you expect to come in
- 21:55Speaker 4: to the year.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Okay, that's that's that's what That's what I kind of said. Yes,
- 22:06Speaker 1: he's exceeded him, but he hasn't blown him away type
- 22:08Speaker 1: of deal.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's that's Robley not He's definitely doing better
- 22:12Speaker 4: when I thought, just not like greatly better.
- 22:14Speaker 2: He has the ability to blow him away. I think
- 22:16Speaker 2: that's we we know that we've seen it in him
- 22:19Speaker 2: and the things he can.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Yeah, like.
- 22:23Speaker 3: That's my argument is we have I mean the Purdue game,
- 22:26Speaker 3: it was zero to zero through the first half. We
- 22:29Speaker 3: beat Rutgers zero to fourteen. It wasn't like our offense
- 22:32Speaker 3: was obliterating them.
- 22:35Speaker 1: So we're spending less time talking about more time talking
- 22:39Speaker 1: about Dylan Royola, and less time talking about Tony White.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I agree, Dak with what you said on the adjustments.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Maybe it was awesome you guys did about the adjustments.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Yea even said mine.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yet oh shit, it's different. That's all right, Okay, let's
- 22:59Speaker 1: pause that. I know where you're gonna go, but let's
- 23:02Speaker 1: say that discussion. I don't think he's You're not gonna
- 23:04Speaker 1: convince me to put him here. Yeah, okay, let's i'd
- 23:08Speaker 1: see they're gonna be Tony White. Considering you had him
- 23:10Speaker 1: for your top ward. I think we just stick with
- 23:14Speaker 1: Tony White. And I mean, yeah, credit to him for
- 23:19Speaker 1: what he's done. And in the argument here is same
- 23:23Speaker 1: with the defense that the one game we lost it
- 23:26Speaker 1: kind of was our defense. So yeah, you can make
- 23:29Speaker 1: that argument, but our defense has won us these other games.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I mean, they won the Rutgers game single handedly for us,
- 23:37Speaker 1: they did without that we lose that.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Game, and in the Illinois game, although they they did
- 23:42Speaker 3: lose us the game there was a moment where we
- 23:44Speaker 3: needed them to get a turnover for us to win
- 23:46Speaker 3: the game, and they did.
- 23:48Speaker 4: But without Machini, do you win the Rutgers game?
- 23:51Speaker 3: Now?
- 23:52Speaker 2: I would you pause on the machine talk and you're
- 23:56Speaker 2: not gonna.
- 23:56Speaker 5: Conm Tony White, But anyway to play latinum, I will say, Also,
- 24:05Speaker 5: what was the one thing going into the year that
- 24:07Speaker 5: we wanted to see out of the defense?
- 24:11Speaker 1: It's not easy to do is force more turnovers, and
- 24:13Speaker 1: here we are with a top ten turnover margin in
- 24:17Speaker 1: the country right now. So yes, whether you want to
- 24:21Speaker 1: group that defense, we'll give to Tony White as the
- 24:24Speaker 1: defensive coordinator.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Okay, Gold Awards, we each get to nominate one.
- 24:30Speaker 1: We already talked about Dylan rightl a lot, but I
- 24:32Speaker 1: will just go ahead and nominate him as a gold
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think that he at least deserves that, if not
- 24:38Speaker 1: a little bit more. But he's getting my goal nominee.
- 24:43Speaker 1: You know his stats nine touchdowns, three interceptions, completing sixty
- 24:46Speaker 1: seven percent of his passes, which has gone down the
- 24:49Speaker 1: past couple of weeks. Obviously, his last game against Ruggers
- 24:52Speaker 1: is probably his worst performance, but again still in a winning.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Outing.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So he's roly every week about how much he himself
- 25:06Speaker 1: just saves our offense from just being a complete disaster
- 25:09Speaker 1: again like it was last year.
- 25:10Speaker 2: There's still a lot more to come.
- 25:12Speaker 1: There still needs to get more pieces around him, but.
- 25:18Speaker 2: He's the real deal.
- 25:19Speaker 1: We don't need to go on and on about him
- 25:20Speaker 1: because we will continue to do that for the rest
- 25:23Speaker 1: of this year and hopefully several more years to come.
- 25:29Speaker 3: My Goald nomination is John Bullock. Surprisingly good linebacker. He
- 25:34Speaker 3: was good last year, came back for his sixth year
- 25:36Speaker 3: and leaving the team in tackles, has a couple of interceptions,
- 25:40Speaker 3: force fumble, a couple of sacks. He's kind of doing
- 25:44Speaker 3: it all and he looks really good doing it. So
- 25:48Speaker 3: I don't want to say he's our best defensive player
- 25:50Speaker 3: because I think that it's one of those linemen. But
- 25:53Speaker 3: he's definitely a top.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Three I would argue he's maybe have been as far
- 26:00Speaker 1: as expectations against expectations, I would probably I actually had
- 26:08Speaker 1: him down as a potential platinum with some of the
- 26:11Speaker 1: things that he's done for us on defense. He was
- 26:14Speaker 1: not the one being talked about on the linebacker group
- 26:17Speaker 1: in a group that we didn't really know what we
- 26:19Speaker 1: were going to get out of him, and he's done
- 26:23Speaker 1: well above that. Thirty three tackles, two sacks in the year,
- 26:27Speaker 1: he's had three to pass deflections. The pick six against Purdue,
- 26:32Speaker 1: like John Bullock, deserves.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Gold for sure.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Highest graded Big Ten defensive back last week or two
- 26:42Speaker 3: weeks ago, I've been two weeks ago.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Well, I had Riyola. So let's just move my silver
- 26:50Speaker 4: one up. As for argument, let's do James White.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yep, stop stop stop stop stop. You not understand how
- 26:58Speaker 1: this works.
- 27:01Speaker 4: All right, we'll go right.
- 27:02Speaker 2: No, who was the person that you've been talking about
- 27:07Speaker 2: to even give the one above that?
- 27:09Speaker 5: Okay, Machini there you God, God, I was like arguing
- 27:14Speaker 5: as a platinum and you're like, you know what this
- 27:17Speaker 5: guy's naming.
- 27:17Speaker 1: You realize we have not talked about Boushini yet because
- 27:20Speaker 1: I keep telling you to wait until you're ready to
- 27:22Speaker 1: nominate it, and then you don't even nominate him.
- 27:25Speaker 4: All right, I nominate Brian Bushini. Why because he just
- 27:30Speaker 4: he's a punter. He just won you. I think he
- 27:32Speaker 4: won you that Rutgers game himself, not not fooling himself,
- 27:36Speaker 4: but he had a big deal, big part of it.
- 27:41Speaker 2: And that I'm still just speechless that.
- 27:47Speaker 3: He is the one shining light on an otherwise tumultuous
- 27:51Speaker 3: Yeah team unit. He has perfect he's had some stinkers too.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I mean that Purdue game he played really well too.
- 28:01Speaker 4: He put he could do it in terrible spots too,
- 28:04Speaker 4: which he helps your defense a lot, putting them putting
- 28:08Speaker 4: the other teams back in their own field. So he
- 28:11Speaker 4: helps that side of the ball out too.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The other thing to add is obviously his fourth down
- 28:17Speaker 1: pass and then the couple of tackles that he's made
- 28:21Speaker 1: to on on coverages. So I completely agree you guys
- 28:26Speaker 1: said it most of it there. He's well deserving of
- 28:30Speaker 1: a special teams unit that has struggled. So Bushini gold,
- 28:34Speaker 1: Kay Silver, Austin go ahead.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Uh so here it did, Ty Robinson. I don't think
- 28:41Speaker 3: he's popped as much this year, but I think that's
- 28:44Speaker 3: part of a lot of people are game planning around
- 28:46Speaker 3: him a little bit more this year. But I definitely
- 28:48Speaker 3: think he's worthy of a silver, adding that pressure on
- 28:51Speaker 3: the front line that you like so much.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Dak.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I had James White here.
- 28:59Speaker 3: James bos James Williams, James is that not his name?
- 29:05Speaker 3: James Williams, James White, used to be a running back
- 29:08Speaker 3: for the New England Patriots.
- 29:10Speaker 4: My bad, My bad. James Williams, Okay, he's he's a
- 29:16Speaker 4: walk on. In last game, last game, he completely dominated
- 29:20Speaker 4: himself based on defense. He's a walk on guy. I
- 29:23Speaker 4: be like you, guys have high expectations for him coming
- 29:26Speaker 4: the year, and he's exceeded everybody's expectations.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so my silver's along a similar line of thought.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Here is Sierr Wright, another guy that I'll be honest,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I didn't even know who he was up until a
- 29:42Speaker 1: few weeks ago, stepping in for Tommy Hill. Now and
- 29:45Speaker 1: Tommy Hill comes back here, Like, it's gonna be interesting
- 29:48Speaker 1: how this defensive bat group sticks out again.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Silver Awards going to.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Guys that I did not expect to be where they're
- 29:55Speaker 1: at and helping our team. All three of these guys
- 29:58Speaker 1: being on the defensive end, which I think think is
- 30:01Speaker 1: very worthy considering where our team's been. So yeah, I
- 30:07Speaker 1: also have another guy like that, like you had Dak
- 30:10Speaker 1: and James Williams ty Robinson. I I also had him
- 30:13Speaker 1: as a silver because you've been quiet, but the impact
- 30:16Speaker 1: that he has on the defensive line, I shouldn't say
- 30:19Speaker 1: he's been quiet. He's got like the most sacks team
- 30:22Speaker 1: and tackle I mean he's tackles for loss like he
- 30:25Speaker 1: hasn't been quiet by any means.
- 30:27Speaker 4: He gets a lot of attention too, so he helps
- 30:29Speaker 4: other players, a lot.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Of double teams, opens a lot of things up. So
- 30:33Speaker 1: see her right, And then we got to side on
- 30:35Speaker 1: one more here. I I'm gonna throw this out there.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Maybe you guys won't like it. Don't he's spend too
- 30:45Speaker 1: much him debating it. I was gonna throw Matt Rule
- 30:47Speaker 1: out there. As the head coach doing a solid job.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I think he's building the program in the right direction.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I think it's worthy of giving him an award somewhere.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I like it. I guess probably the appropriate place right like.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Everyone, Yes, I agree.
- 31:07Speaker 4: I mean it's the best way you've been in ten years.
- 31:10Speaker 1: And you have to expandage a fan base, immediate staff,
- 31:14Speaker 1: all this, and then your players on top of that.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He does a tremendous job every week of speaking the
- 31:20Speaker 1: way the players need to hear it in my mind,
- 31:24Speaker 1: and he did.
- 31:24Speaker 3: He recruited the class, he hired, he paid Tony White
- 31:28Speaker 3: more money. I mean he did everything right.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah, bronze five of them. Let's make him quick quick
- 31:36Speaker 2: explanation that go first.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Well, I thought this was the bad cavicgry sims gonn
- 31:43Speaker 4: roll with it. I did the Kickers.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I'm not putting the kickers doing that. New one be
- 31:49Speaker 2: one of your silvers.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Let's go, let's go uh, let's go. H not Dale
- 31:58Speaker 4: just because we didn't expect him to be a starter.
- 32:02Speaker 4: I wouldn't say he's been great the first couple of games.
- 32:05Speaker 4: I thought this guy'snna be really good, but he's kind
- 32:07Speaker 4: of falling off the last couple of games. But no
- 32:09Speaker 4: one's sake to be a starter, and he kind of
- 32:11Speaker 4: became a clear start for the first three games. So
- 32:13Speaker 4: I'll go to him.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Austin I had na Or.
- 32:19Speaker 3: I think he's added that deep threat and he's looked
- 32:22Speaker 3: really good offensively.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna do this because I as one of
- 32:27Speaker 1: my bronze I had thenor Banks combo.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Receivers. So we're gonna throw them into a category because
- 32:35Speaker 2: those two additions at the receiving group, which kind of
- 32:38Speaker 2: falls in the newcomers.
- 32:39Speaker 1: But we'll make them like a combo group because I
- 32:43Speaker 1: don't know you could argue one better than the other.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I think the player. It's incredible.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna do it.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Give it to our offensive line been bag, got some injuries.
- 33:00Speaker 1: They've done a pretty damn good job, though guys in
- 33:03Speaker 1: past protection, specifically run blocking.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I think there's some work to be done.
- 33:07Speaker 1: But where they're not being talked about like they have
- 33:10Speaker 1: been in the past, not a big issue.
- 33:15Speaker 2: So I'm gonna get to the offensive line.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I think it's worthy of an award again simply for
- 33:19Speaker 1: the fact they're protecting Dylan when they need to.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I kind of agree. I had the same spot. I
- 33:24Speaker 3: was going to be more specific, but.
- 33:31Speaker 4: All right, more flying to.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Any other ones that you guys have for nominations. I
- 33:36Speaker 1: got one specific one, Barnie. Oh shoot, yeah, I had
- 33:44Speaker 1: Barney up as a gold just but but I think
- 33:49Speaker 1: I feel like we covered him too.
- 33:50Speaker 2: In the Newcomers.
- 33:51Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, here's the one that I want to
- 33:54Speaker 1: throw out there too, because I guys were five and one.
- 33:57Speaker 1: All these coaches need to get credit and it's the
- 33:59Speaker 1: guy that again has not been getting talked about, Matt
- 34:04Speaker 1: Marcus Sadderfield.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 2: How many of our offensive coordinators have gotten slammed for
- 34:15Speaker 2: play calling, our system, our style.
- 34:17Speaker 1: There's not much right now, I just feel like he's
- 34:20Speaker 1: doing a solid job with Dylan keeping the ball in
- 34:22Speaker 1: his hands that.
- 34:25Speaker 3: I don't know if it's worthy of an award. Our
- 34:27Speaker 3: offenses look pretty stagnant at times, but oh.
- 34:31Speaker 4: I thought he was the worst offensive corder nation coming
- 34:33Speaker 4: in last year, So he can he can have any
- 34:35Speaker 4: award now that he's kept his job.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Well, I say, and after last year it was.
- 34:41Speaker 4: He didn't look good. Yeah, last year at all. I
- 34:43Speaker 4: wouldn't say he's had done a great job this year.
- 34:46Speaker 2: But do we want to give it to Ja Cory
- 34:48Speaker 2: Barney and an individual? Well we got too so oh okay, yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Okay, but don'ty Pride doesn't deserve it.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I not from where I thought he could be.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I yeah, he hasn't.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I don't have anybody else on that list.
- 35:04Speaker 3: In the press conference, you can tell a rule keeps
- 35:05Speaker 3: bringing up.
- 35:06Speaker 4: The Dony's name is like a it's just so slow.
- 35:09Speaker 3: We're not getting you involved in the game, but we
- 35:11Speaker 3: like you sort of thing like here I'm talking about.
- 35:13Speaker 2: You man, Like.
- 35:16Speaker 3: He's just.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, award show over love. A neat little
- 35:22Speaker 1: graphic posted on social media at glory or turn on Twitter,
- 35:27Speaker 1: Dak you better get your picks in.
- 35:29Speaker 2: You better go quick.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Okay, we are coming off in eleven and four week
- 35:35Speaker 1: from Dak and another lock hit.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So Dak is hot.
- 35:38Speaker 1: He's seeing the board. He texted me today that he
- 35:41Speaker 1: loves some lines. This week Dak hit him with us.
- 35:45Speaker 4: All right. Utah minus four they play his own state,
- 35:50Speaker 4: South Carolina plus twenty one. They played Bama Missouri minus
- 35:54Speaker 4: twenty seven and a half. You mass here we go,
- 35:56Speaker 4: oh you plus fourteen and a half. First lock of
