- 1:50Speaker 6: All right, great to have everybody with us. It is
- 1:52Speaker 6: a game week. We have never said that before in
- 1:56Speaker 6: the second week of December. Right, the years you've been there,
- 2:01Speaker 6: we have never said it's game We never thought about
- 2:05Speaker 6: game week.
- 2:06Speaker 5: No, it's not counting bulls, no, no, but still, this
- 2:09Speaker 5: is a game week.
- 2:10Speaker 6: This is game week like.
- 2:11Speaker 5: The Texas Ball was in December.
- 2:13Speaker 6: But yeah, but it was even late. It's like a
- 2:16Speaker 6: week later, two weeks.
- 2:17Speaker 1: It feels a lot different than the Independence Ball.
- 2:20Speaker 6: It feels a little better than that. We need a bowl.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Yeah right, exactly feels a little different point.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm a I'm concerned about this game. I think A
- 2:30Speaker 1: and M should be concerned about this game.
- 2:33Speaker 5: I think when you look at the once you start
- 2:36Speaker 5: deving into it, like I guess that's what Elco would say,
- 2:39Speaker 5: as we knew that lots of talent. Then Miami team
- 2:42Speaker 5: is real talented and you're thinking like ten to two
- 2:45Speaker 5: and they lost one of those games at home, but
- 2:47Speaker 5: if they show up with the talent they have, and
- 2:50Speaker 5: you can say same thing about any of those two
- 2:52Speaker 5: any of those eight teams.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I didn't watch them a lot, but I watched them.
- 2:59Speaker 1: They were off, they were terrible Louisville and they gave
- 3:03Speaker 1: that game away.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Yeah, inexcusable. Yeah yeah, Washington gets which is which is
- 3:08Speaker 6: Again we've talked about it all year. Aim has the
- 3:11Speaker 6: coaching edge going into this game. Yeah. Absolutely. Now if
- 3:14Speaker 6: it comes down to that and it comes down to
- 3:17Speaker 6: Mario chrystobal uh decision in the last two minutes, I
- 3:21Speaker 6: like A M's chances a lot mm hmm.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I agree with you. They should be
- 3:26Speaker 1: concerned because this is a very good team coming in here.
- 3:28Speaker 1: But I still think if A and M plays its
- 3:31Speaker 1: game and plays like it it is capable of playing,
- 3:36Speaker 1: then A and M wins this game at home. But
- 3:38Speaker 1: we have always seen that.
- 3:39Speaker 6: We have not. That's That's what I'm concerned about.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that second half of the Texas game, anybody who
- 3:45Speaker 1: watched that has got to be concerned about it.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Or the first half of the South Carolina game.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Absolutely, if you're Miami, you've got a lot of hope
- 3:52Speaker 5: if you've watched that second half against Texas.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, because that A and M was not a very
- 3:57Speaker 1: assertive team. They were there, They didn't have much of
- 4:00Speaker 1: a game plan in that game, and they just kind of,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, they lost a lot of scrimmage, which I
- 4:05Speaker 1: really didn't think it was gonna happen.
- 4:06Speaker 5: You know, I'm with you one hundred percent. You have
- 4:09Speaker 5: to put a check beside coaching. I wouldn't hesitate to
- 4:12Speaker 5: put it beside in him. But I'm always wondering how
- 4:14Speaker 5: coaching changes with the assistant coaches.
- 4:16Speaker 6: You don't know that, right, and I don't know that.
- 4:18Speaker 5: I don't said ally they just promoted within it'll stay
- 4:21Speaker 5: the same. No, I don't think it will, because if
- 4:24Speaker 5: it promotes with it. They weren't. They weren't the offenses.
- 4:27Speaker 6: But but I will say, in this case, cease, these
- 4:30Speaker 6: guys are here and present. Right, it's not here and
- 4:34Speaker 6: they're going to be here, so that that part's a
- 4:37Speaker 6: little different. The head coach didn't leave the coordinators still
- 4:41Speaker 6: here and doing what he's been.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Doing all year.
- 4:44Speaker 6: So just in terms of continuity.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I would think it wouldn't matter. But I always want
- 4:48Speaker 5: to about kids.
- 4:49Speaker 6: I don't disagree with you.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I worry about, quite frankly, I worry about play calling
- 4:55Speaker 1: under pressure because in what I've seen in the two
- 4:58Speaker 1: biggest games that he's been in, the play call I'm
- 5:00Speaker 1: talking about Colin Klein was a Texas game last year,
- 5:03Speaker 1: Texas game this year.
- 5:04Speaker 6: I didn't think it's very good either time.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So I worry about play calling. I don't even know
- 5:09Speaker 1: if I really, quite frankly, if I really want him
- 5:12Speaker 1: to be my play caller if I have Texas A
- 5:14Speaker 1: and M, because.
- 5:16Speaker 6: I mean he's got another job.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I mean I just feel like you should probably go
- 5:20Speaker 1: take the other job and move on. And then you know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: the guy steps up and he continues.
- 5:26Speaker 6: I don't like that. I don't agree with you at all. Well,
- 5:29Speaker 6: I think that's been here.
- 5:32Speaker 5: You guys need to speak up.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Yeah exactly.
- 5:35Speaker 1: If you go somewhere else, take another job at another
- 5:39Speaker 1: radio station, but you were to stay on here in
- 5:42Speaker 1: you know, for table.
- 5:45Speaker 6: That's one thing.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But I just don't I'm not really that impressed with
- 5:49Speaker 1: a play calling. I mean, there's been times there's better
- 5:51Speaker 1: offense this year than he was last year, but I
- 5:54Speaker 1: don't know under pressure he has an impressed me.
- 5:57Speaker 5: I would say this. I thought the play calling this
- 6:02Speaker 5: year was much better than last year, but he had better,
- 6:04Speaker 5: better players, better players. And I also think you gotta
- 6:07Speaker 5: remember how young the guy is. He didn't call the
- 6:10Speaker 5: plays a lot at Kansas State. When you look at
- 6:12Speaker 5: what he I think this experience is going to make
- 6:15Speaker 5: him a better play caller and a better head coach.
- 6:18Speaker 5: But you're right, I didn't like certain calls in the
- 6:20Speaker 5: Texas game, but I could say that against experience guys.
- 6:24Speaker 5: But I will say, when you when you think about it,
- 6:27Speaker 5: when you think about how Kingsbury fit up with Johnny,
- 6:30Speaker 5: you talk about a good pair, a good match, there's
- 6:34Speaker 5: something to be said about your offensive coordinator and your quarterback.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I also don't know how hurt Marcel Reid was in
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Texas game.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Good point.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I don't maybe he was limited in what he called
- 6:44Speaker 1: because of that. When he slipped that time too, it
- 6:48Speaker 1: didn't look good.
- 6:49Speaker 6: It did not look good on TV.
- 6:51Speaker 5: There are a lot of people putting that right, no
- 6:53Speaker 5: stories like loss for the year quarterback.
- 6:56Speaker 6: It looked like that.
- 6:57Speaker 5: You're right, but you see, that's what I always hate
- 7:00Speaker 5: when he's injuries. Like they ask I'll go about injuries again,
- 7:03Speaker 5: I always hate that. I don't blame them. They can't
- 7:06Speaker 5: say how healthy are on healthy because like last year
- 7:10Speaker 5: Scooby Williams had a miscus or whatever, Trey Zoom was
- 7:15Speaker 5: was playing with one arm or one leg, and then
- 7:17Speaker 5: you criticize these guys because you know, like how did
- 7:20Speaker 5: they get that most.
- 7:20Speaker 1: There's just certain things that stand out to you know,
- 7:23Speaker 1: because I just remember sitting there at halftime a Texas game, thing, Okay,
- 7:26Speaker 1: it's ten three, Adam's getting the ball, and it's been
- 7:29Speaker 1: really good coming out second half all year long, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: they go three.
- 7:33Speaker 6: And now you need to let that game go. Rest.
- 7:35Speaker 6: I know you need to let that game go. You're
- 7:41Speaker 6: not getting that game.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Last year's game go.
- 7:43Speaker 6: I know you're not getting that game.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Back.
- 7:46Speaker 1: No, I do understand. I don't.
- 7:50Speaker 6: I don't have to.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'm not playing, but I agree with you.
- 7:54Speaker 5: You're you're right.
- 7:55Speaker 6: My wife the same.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But that that first third down, you know when they
- 8:01Speaker 1: throw the long pass, maybe that's a martial decision.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I just like that was a horrible call.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It was terrible, and I don't know who made that call.
- 8:09Speaker 1: But it's just like, okay, or the third and one play.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Down at the goal line against South Carolina when you
- 8:14Speaker 5: didn't know what.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I was gonna mention that because I hated the direct
- 8:19Speaker 1: snaps to the freshman run back.
- 8:20Speaker 6: I hate direct snaps period. I I'm with you, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 6: I mean especially especially.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I mean if you're playing an army Navy and it's
- 8:29Speaker 1: old school, you know, single wing.
- 8:31Speaker 6: But I mean the reason I love that game, Oh
- 8:34Speaker 6: my gosh, it never disappoints, not even when it's a lopsided.
- 8:39Speaker 6: Not even when it's lops it never disappoints. And this
- 8:42Speaker 6: this was such a great game. Not the quality necessarily,
- 8:46Speaker 6: and it's never about the quality, but oh my gosh,
- 8:49Speaker 6: I just love that.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I love Navs uniforms, the uniforms every year awesome. I
- 8:54Speaker 1: love Navies, the helmet, color tribute everything about ship.
- 8:58Speaker 6: So I like armies. They're pretty, they were very clean,
- 9:01Speaker 6: Yeah they were.
- 9:03Speaker 5: I love.
- 9:03Speaker 6: I just love that game. I didn't mean to get
- 9:05Speaker 6: us off track the only time when I wanted direction
- 9:07Speaker 6: that it's like.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah a few times. So I was I was
- 9:11Speaker 5: helping my son move, So I was a dad for
- 9:13Speaker 5: a change. But what I always hate when they do
- 9:16Speaker 5: shotgun third and goal or fourth and goal with the
- 9:19Speaker 5: one in the shotgun and you've got eleven guys going
- 9:21Speaker 5: right for the ball and you're giving them a five
- 9:24Speaker 5: yard head start, and I'm going, why aren't you under center?
- 9:27Speaker 6: You know, It's like I don't disagree with that either, cease.
- 9:31Speaker 5: But what always say, I don't care what you call.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Just get in the end zone or get the first time.
- 9:35Speaker 5: That's why you're getting paid the million.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Creativity is not with an offensive coordinator is a lot
- 9:39Speaker 1: like technology.
- 9:40Speaker 6: It's great when it works, right.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yes, it's a good point, yes, good point. But sometimes
- 9:46Speaker 1: you out creative yourself, you know, and I usually.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Go, okay, Jessica, come here, the computer won't work.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, good point. Yeah yeah that's right. Now,
- 9:56Speaker 6: that's right. Sometimes you can get too cute, but I
- 10:00Speaker 6: that's not a criticism I would have of him necessarily
- 10:04Speaker 6: this year. The play that you mentioned is horrible. That
- 10:07Speaker 6: was horrible, and I know he wants that back. I
- 10:09Speaker 6: get I get.
- 10:10Speaker 1: That, but I wulle you know, he becomes greg game
- 10:14Speaker 1: and I just I'm not as concerned about that about
- 10:18Speaker 1: executing what's being called okay, cause I don't.
- 10:21Speaker 6: I don't think they've done that the last couple of games.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Real well, if you get your your your running back
- 10:27Speaker 1: back healthy, that changes a lot. Hey, and I'm still
- 10:31Speaker 1: I don't know what do he thinks he's I don't know.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Here's the deal is. I'm telling to myself, Okay, if
- 10:36Speaker 5: he's one hundred percent healthy, even eighty ninety, I think
- 10:40Speaker 5: if if Miami knows, how big of a deal is
- 10:43Speaker 5: that because Owens is good whatever, I don't think he's
- 10:46Speaker 5: one hundred percent. That's just and that's just a gut deal.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Because would you say Smith is running better lately than Owens?
- 10:55Speaker 6: Not necessarily. You know, they picked their spots when they
- 10:59Speaker 6: run Smith. He's a hard runner. He's like his daddy.
- 11:03Speaker 6: He's lowed the ground. He doesn't go down after the
- 11:05Speaker 6: first or second contact.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I mean, I like him the burst he had.
- 11:10Speaker 6: Again, he doesn't have the talent that that Rubino's has.
- 11:14Speaker 1: With you, but that he's running better lately. When you
- 11:18Speaker 1: give I don't know, just for the tough yards. They
- 11:21Speaker 1: usually get tough yards.
- 11:22Speaker 6: With tough yards, he gets tough yards.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And then like the touchdown, I guess Texas look beautiful,
- 11:27Speaker 1: like he showed us some burdens. Yeah, yeah, the first.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Time I've seen that kind of like I likes.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I like lost too. But while we're talking about it,
- 11:39Speaker 5: and you touched on first, which I don't really shocked
- 11:41Speaker 5: me that textas more physical than A and M because
- 11:45Speaker 5: I didn't think that would happen on both sides.
- 11:48Speaker 6: That better not happened Saturday.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Saturday. They're in trouble.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Yeah, they're in trouble. They can't they can't let that
- 11:54Speaker 6: happen because those guys are they are their front both
- 11:58Speaker 6: sides really good. It'll be, in my opinion, besides Texas
- 12:04Speaker 6: second half and we know they're talented. Notre Dame was
- 12:07Speaker 6: the best front both sides of the ball right that
- 12:10Speaker 6: they saw and Miami and I watched that first game
- 12:16Speaker 6: and you can say, oh, that was August. I don't
- 12:18Speaker 6: care the athletes are the same, right, And that was
- 12:22Speaker 6: a war on both sides of the trenches, and it's
- 12:26Speaker 6: gonna have to be like that Saturday.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Floria's pretty good up front to Fish, You're.
- 12:30Speaker 8: Right, Auburn is pretty good up for right, But you're right,
- 12:34Speaker 8: I think Notre Dame is LSU is pretty good up front. Yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 8: but I still think you're right on the Notre Dame
- 12:39Speaker 8: is probably the best overall.
- 12:40Speaker 6: But I think this will be the best.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, I really do.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Two of those guys have earned some All American honors.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Here's the deal is if if A and M is
- 12:51Speaker 5: matched by physicality by Miami, you've got to worry because
- 12:55Speaker 5: the AP All American team came out today and they're
- 12:58Speaker 5: wide receiver that lines up everywhere.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Tony Malay, he was the.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Only true freshman on the whole three teams APL American.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Do you think about how many guys he's the only
- 13:09Speaker 5: true freshman.
- 13:10Speaker 6: So I will say this season, you you've watched el
- 13:13Speaker 6: call all year. He's been asked twice about Malachy Tony.
- 13:15Speaker 1: He was asking about him last week, he was asking
- 13:17Speaker 1: about him this week, and he just gets that look
- 13:19Speaker 1: on his face like this guy is different.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Right. He is Trumple.
- 13:24Speaker 6: He is different, and he is a game breaker. And
- 13:30Speaker 6: A and M's got got a couple on their side too. Right,
- 13:33Speaker 6: I'm not saying that, I'm just saying you better keep him.
- 13:36Speaker 6: You better know where he is every single snap because
- 13:40Speaker 6: they'll line up at quarter. Speaking of taking a snap,
- 13:42Speaker 6: he'll line up in the you know, in the shotgun
- 13:45Speaker 6: you did this guy you have to account for every play.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Some of those great Alabama and in l.
- 13:51Speaker 1: S U wide receiver who could take over a game. Yes,
- 13:54Speaker 1: the catch he made Notre Dame spectacular, one of the
- 13:57Speaker 1: plays of the year. Yeah, I mean that one handed
- 13:59Speaker 1: cats Lee. That's crazy stuff.
- 14:02Speaker 5: And the concern Elko has is you could have your
- 14:06Speaker 5: defense called exactly right. This guy could make a catch,
- 14:09Speaker 5: make a play like that.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Well, he's one of those guys that are open when
- 14:11Speaker 1: he's covered.
- 14:12Speaker 6: And if you don't put pressure because he's big, he's
- 14:15Speaker 6: not little.
- 14:16Speaker 5: And if you don't, if you don't pressure Beck, he
- 14:18Speaker 5: is the guy that could throw the ball in the
- 14:19Speaker 5: diamond times. When he is on, he's on and when you.
- 14:22Speaker 6: See there's no doubt about that Louisville game.
- 14:26Speaker 5: When he's off, he was throwing right to the defenders
- 14:29Speaker 5: the time.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And that's the thing Ship that I agree with you,
- 14:32Speaker 1: is he They've got to put pressure on him on
- 14:34Speaker 1: a regular basis, like they didn't put it on arch
- 14:37Speaker 1: Manning and uh, because I didn't think the defensive line
- 14:40Speaker 1: did a very good job against Texas consistently. Cash needs
- 14:44Speaker 1: to have one of his great games because beck, like
- 14:48Speaker 1: like Elko said today, he's been in these high pressure states. Yes, yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I mean he's played for you know, the big game.
- 14:55Speaker 6: So that's the other question I have about that. And
- 14:58Speaker 6: and Miami hasn't either, right, I mean, let's let's be
- 15:01Speaker 6: clear about that. They've been terrible in the month of
- 15:04Speaker 6: November under Chris tobol Okay, so they haven't been in
- 15:09Speaker 6: this right now. Historically, of course they have, but I
- 15:14Speaker 6: don't know, but not lately, not lately, Right, I.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Asked the question wrong, I guess. But both teams are
- 15:21Speaker 5: the first time. I think that's a real advantage for
- 15:23Speaker 5: A and m It's not like you're at home because
- 15:25Speaker 5: they're at home. And if both programs first time in
- 15:27Speaker 5: the CFP, you're right. Miami was good in the seventies
- 15:30Speaker 5: and eighties, but this is cfps have eve been around since.
- 15:33Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's not it's not the same. It's not
- 15:36Speaker 6: like you have a team coming in there now. Georgia, yes,
- 15:39Speaker 6: Ohio State, yes, you know, you look, you look, you
- 15:42Speaker 6: start looking at the brackets. But this team, no, neither
- 15:45Speaker 6: of these teams have been in this situation, which I'm
- 15:50Speaker 6: interested to see how both react to that.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Right, I think that's huge. I do too, because I
- 15:55Speaker 5: think the fact that both of them are in it
- 15:56Speaker 5: for the first time, you can possibly have one or
- 15:59Speaker 5: two so won't cost you the game. But suddenly, if
- 16:02Speaker 5: you make that mistake against Ohio State in Georgia and
- 16:05Speaker 5: they score, or Alabama and it's seven to nothing, you go, oh,
- 16:08Speaker 5: here we go. And the other team's thinking, hey, we
- 16:10Speaker 5: got this game because they've been there before and they
- 16:13Speaker 5: know what a seven zero lead can do for you.
- 16:15Speaker 5: There's so much to be said for experience.
- 16:17Speaker 9: You know.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Do you give the advantage overall to the receivers, to
- 16:22Speaker 1: A and M because they have the duo as opposed
- 16:26Speaker 1: to Tony.
- 16:27Speaker 5: If Craver's one hundred percent, because he wasn't one hundred
- 16:29Speaker 5: percent the last two games, and he sat there today
- 16:31Speaker 5: and said he is, but until I see him one
- 16:33Speaker 5: hundred percent. He wasn't one hundred percent.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Well, and up until recently I would have thrown Bethel
- 16:38Speaker 1: Roman in there too, I mean, a really emerging guy
- 16:42Speaker 1: without it as a young guy, I just you.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Know, liked him.
- 16:44Speaker 6: They got spreaded around and they can.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I don't know if Miami has the depth of wide receivers,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and yeah, I think overall, I probably give Tony the
- 16:54Speaker 1: edge over any one a m but it's probably close
- 16:58Speaker 1: with him and case no.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Doubt, we've seen Crab is healthy except you own is healthy,
- 17:04Speaker 5: and your buddy's calling a good game, mixing the tight
- 17:08Speaker 5: ends and every once those those eight or nine catch
- 17:10Speaker 5: yard catches are great, great if you do those well.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And Crab still has probably one of the plays of
- 17:17Speaker 1: the year for A and M and the Notre Dame
- 17:18Speaker 1: all the way back to in August.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Right, you were talking about the defense earlier. Uh, and
- 17:23Speaker 6: the line of scribbage.
- 17:24Speaker 10: Uh.
- 17:25Speaker 6: They can't let Miami run the football, right, I mean,
- 17:27Speaker 6: you don't want Miami running the football. You play either team.
- 17:32Speaker 6: I mean, that's that's why it's a line of scrimmage game.
- 17:34Speaker 1: That's what we said about the Texas game, you know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: and the Texas ran.
- 17:37Speaker 5: The ball didn't when I didn't like about A and
- 17:40Speaker 5: M getting back rusty, you need to let that go.
- 17:42Speaker 6: But that's what I think.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Miami will do, though, they'll use that save deal dropping
- 17:48Speaker 5: seven and eight because A and M didn't take what
- 17:51Speaker 5: the defense gave him. And we saw at the end
- 17:54Speaker 5: Reid was force and throws and he had a little
- 17:56Speaker 5: bit of the happy feet because no one was open
- 17:58Speaker 5: because they dropped seven or eight.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Well, again, the other concern I have is if it
- 18:03Speaker 1: comes down to a field goal, right, Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 6: We hadn't mentioned that, or an extra point or an
- 18:08Speaker 6: extra point. Yeah, we hadn't mentioned that.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Well that that's true, And I was talking to who
- 18:12Speaker 5: is I talked to recently? The problem about are setting
- 18:15Speaker 5: here dissecting A and M. You probably saw a replace.
- 18:19Speaker 5: We've all seen all their games. Yes, we know where
- 18:22Speaker 5: their warts are. Yeah, yeah, and so we don't.
- 18:25Speaker 6: You know, that's a good point.
- 18:26Speaker 5: I'll go points out a lot of time. So you
- 18:27Speaker 5: guys are so negative, which is true because Burrell said, Okay,
- 18:30Speaker 5: you can't do this, coach, you guys can't do that.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Whereas you always see the good highlights for Miami all
- 18:35Speaker 5: this Tony guy. Wow, these defensive ends and so we
- 18:39Speaker 5: are a little critical because we know A and M
- 18:41Speaker 5: so well and they don't have enough all Americans, any
- 18:46Speaker 5: any team anymore. What do we said all your long?
- 18:48Speaker 5: It's really wide open. Who's going to show? I mean,
- 18:50Speaker 5: let's Ohio State fourteen to seven, first game with Texas,
- 18:53Speaker 5: and Texas is not there. It's still wide open as
- 18:56Speaker 5: far as I'm concerned.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I did tell you. I think playing home
- 19:00Speaker 1: is a huge vantage, and they get to play at home. Basically,
- 19:03Speaker 1: if they win this game their home, they basically have
- 19:06Speaker 1: what a mouse to a relatively home game in the
- 19:09Speaker 1: Cotton Bowl. And so I think that could be a
- 19:12Speaker 1: huge advantage. But I understand first things first. So, and
- 19:15Speaker 1: I've said this before, it's not going to be as
- 19:18Speaker 1: as big an advantage as you think it is because
- 19:21Speaker 1: Ohio State will travel.
- 19:23Speaker 6: They do. I mean they will travel. I've seen. I
- 19:26Speaker 6: was at the semi final game last year.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I was at the Sugar Bowl when they played correct.
- 19:31Speaker 6: Yeah, correct, and a lot of a lot of Buckeyes.
- 19:34Speaker 6: I mean, you know that the demand will be heavy,
- 19:39Speaker 6: but they ain't there yet. They got to win this game,
- 19:41Speaker 6: and I agree they have to win this game.
- 19:44Speaker 5: Yeah, but if they get to Cotton boll It's that
- 19:46Speaker 5: would be would be sweet, It'll be fun.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Well, and you know, I heard the guys talk about
- 19:51Speaker 1: the you know, the National Rider or whatever about if
- 19:54Speaker 1: this game, if it wasn't for the NFL, this game
- 19:57Speaker 1: probably nice. Yes, I thought that was an interesting question actually,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and I was like, hey, whatever, we'll just kick.
- 20:02Speaker 6: It out, put the ball down, kick it up.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It will be an electric environment. Yes, And I think
- 20:08Speaker 1: you know, I remember the the SMU Penn State game
- 20:12Speaker 1: was the early game last year. Yes, and SMU had
- 20:16Speaker 1: a chance early to be in that game and that
- 20:17Speaker 1: made some terrible key, terrible mistakes and it was just
- 20:22Speaker 1: a blowout on Penn State side. So yeah, I think
- 20:26Speaker 1: ANEM needs to come out early and really make it
- 20:29Speaker 1: a point to get to Carson back and keep the
- 20:32Speaker 1: crowded and keep the crowd in it.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, I think this.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Something else was telling me about this is how big
- 20:38Speaker 5: is this game or weekend as far as your time
- 20:42Speaker 5: in Brian College station, And I said, well, I have
- 20:45Speaker 5: to do is look to see how much tickets are
- 20:46Speaker 5: gone by for But I think there'll be people come
- 20:50Speaker 5: to town knowing they won't even go to the game. But
- 20:54Speaker 5: just to be here with friends watching it.
- 20:55Speaker 1: You know that Alabama game stands out to me that
- 20:58Speaker 1: the twenty thirteen Yeah yeah, the year after Johnny won Tuscaloosa,
- 21:02Speaker 1: that game, that game kind of stands out to me.
- 21:06Speaker 1: See the text game last year was.
- 21:08Speaker 6: The Texas game last year that built up and forget
- 21:10Speaker 6: its huge. It was unbelievable, right.
- 21:13Speaker 5: But I just think it's going to be a time.
- 21:16Speaker 5: WI have nothing to do with it. I'm with you.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Aggie's coming out there in the college football playoff in Miami.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I can remember Miami comes here before. They don't get
- 21:24Speaker 5: great home crowds, but they will have people follow as well,
- 21:28Speaker 5: not as much, but this this place will just be hopping. Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I remember being pretty darn good on a very wet,
- 21:36Speaker 1: rainy day after Thanksgiving at ten am against Texas in
- 21:39Speaker 1: nineteen ninety seven.
- 21:40Speaker 6: You remember that, Oh yeah, the rain was just like it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Was torential, and uh, I put I put that behind me,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and that game is at ten am.
- 21:51Speaker 5: I remember those ten am. I remember driving Austin.
- 21:54Speaker 6: For there's no excuse. The weather is going to be great, right, yes,
- 21:58Speaker 6: the weather's supposed to be great, and uh, the stadiums
- 22:01Speaker 6: be full and it's it's be what you want.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Well, if you said it first a year, hey am
- 22:06Speaker 1: for the host of home game, like.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Look at that sign me out.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Well I had this team being eighty four,
- 22:15Speaker 1: so they have exceeded expectations.
- 22:16Speaker 6: And I've talked several times like, yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It'll be a disappointing loss if they lose the game.
- 22:23Speaker 1: But when you step back and say, okay, this season
- 22:26Speaker 1: was a success because they got there. And so I thought,
- 22:30Speaker 1: whoever asked the question about, you know, is a national
- 22:34Speaker 1: title bus?
- 22:35Speaker 6: I thought, like, I'm trying to be nice. I did too.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It was like, this is year two, so for year
- 22:43Speaker 1: two to get in the playoffs. On the other hand,
- 22:46Speaker 1: if you're in the playoffs.
- 22:48Speaker 6: I was just about to say that, right, because we
- 22:50Speaker 6: talk every year in baseball, right, right, So if you're
- 22:52Speaker 6: getting you'll get there. You better win it because you
- 22:55Speaker 6: don't know if you're getting there again. And honestly, Chipp.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It feels a lot like to me personally, like twenty
- 23:00Speaker 1: twenty three when Rangers lost the last game of the
- 23:02Speaker 1: year to lose the division, right, and very similar in
- 23:05Speaker 1: anem losing the last game of the year to lose
- 23:08Speaker 1: a shot to win.
- 23:09Speaker 6: The SEC title.
- 23:10Speaker 1: But the big picture is still out there and you
- 23:13Speaker 1: got to go an extra step.
- 23:15Speaker 6: You have to take advantage of the opportunity because what
- 23:17Speaker 6: you're saying is, hey, this is just a second year
- 23:20Speaker 6: he's in the playoffs. I'm going, yeah, awesome. Nobody expected it,
- 23:23Speaker 6: you know that didn't see it coming. But you're there.
- 23:27Speaker 6: You don't know what next year is going to break.
- 23:29Speaker 6: You have no clue. And if you've looked at their
- 23:31Speaker 6: schedule next year, it's like, man, if they go eleven
- 23:34Speaker 6: to one next year, they're gonna be really good. But still,
- 23:38Speaker 6: now is the time.
- 23:40Speaker 5: I always tell people I'll never forget gone down and
- 23:43Speaker 5: covering the Sugar Bowl nineteen ninety eight. If you remember right,
- 23:47Speaker 5: oh yeah, the media hotel.
- 23:49Speaker 6: You walk yes to the Superdebe and you're.
- 23:53Speaker 5: Walking through all those shops and all you see is
- 23:55Speaker 5: a sea of maroon and buckeye.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Oh it had a big time field, saying.
- 24:00Speaker 5: To myself, and I wasn't the other thing. This is
- 24:03Speaker 5: the start. Was gonna do this every year. We're gonna
- 24:05Speaker 5: go these kind of games, and you're gonna have these
- 24:08Speaker 5: kind of weekends, like you could just smell how it was.
- 24:13Speaker 1: It was only the third year of the Big twelve.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Right exactly?
- 24:16Speaker 1: You go like they only got one.
- 24:19Speaker 11: Always references like the Alamodamond basketball TI.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Yeah, always reference that. I go, okay, that was in
- 24:27Speaker 5: ninety eight, this is twenty five, twenty twenty five. There's
- 24:31Speaker 5: a lot of missus.
- 24:32Speaker 1: That two thousand and seven Ala mobile or not the albumobile,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but the Almodome. Yeah, the ac loss stuff, My gosh,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that still is the most agonizing loss.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Do you remember that I've ever covered? Yes, that was electric.
- 24:46Speaker 5: It was Aggie's in that and that don't and they
- 24:49Speaker 5: still haven't been back, you know, right to the lead eight.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I mean, they've never been to the lead day and
- 24:54Speaker 1: they were that close. All you got to do is
- 24:55Speaker 1: grab a rebound.
- 24:56Speaker 6: You didn't let that.
- 24:57Speaker 5: But getting back, what he said is that's why you strike. Now.
- 25:02Speaker 6: You can say that about a lot of things that
- 25:04Speaker 6: I strike. Now, should we talk about two level?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Okay? Now, no cuche Okay, all.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Right, you got me, you got me. I'm you know,
- 25:18Speaker 6: never get over it, never get over it. All right,

- 29:20Speaker 6: Tech at First Financial Bank. Thanks for being with us,
- 29:23Speaker 6: Robert Sesta, Rusty Berson is here. See she were asking
- 29:26Speaker 6: about the heisman. I posted my vote after it was over.
- 29:30Speaker 6: I would love to change it now and I can't.
- 29:32Speaker 6: But I voted Diego Pavia number one. I voted Fernando
- 29:35Speaker 6: Mendoza number two, and I voted Texas Tech linebacker Jacob
- 29:39Speaker 6: Rodriguez number three. That was my voting order. And I'm
- 29:43Speaker 6: just so disappointed Diego Pavia. I just I cannot express
- 29:48Speaker 6: how disappointed I am to take that situation and just
- 29:52Speaker 6: ruin it. And he ruined all the good will he
- 29:56Speaker 6: had for himself and for his university who made a fortune. Right,
- 30:01Speaker 6: Let's let's be honest about it. And he had just
- 30:04Speaker 6: totally screwed everything up with one and I don't know
- 30:08Speaker 6: if there was alcohol involved, if there was or if
- 30:12Speaker 6: there wasn't, that doesn't excuse what he wrote. What he said.
- 30:17Speaker 6: It's and then just a lame pr apology yesterday written
- 30:22Speaker 6: by someone else. It was horrible.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I always hate when anybody says something like that in public,
- 30:27Speaker 5: the public person, and to come back at an issue apology,
- 30:30Speaker 5: you're in trouble. I always say, I always judge every
- 30:34Speaker 5: coach and athlete when they lose a game, not when
- 30:36Speaker 5: they win a game, because everybody can win. And uh,
- 30:39Speaker 5: I talked to you guys off the air, Pavia, I
- 30:41Speaker 5: remember being around, and you know, I was twelve deep.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I was real close. He was entertaining the media SEC
- 30:49Speaker 5: media days, and of course that didn't influence my vote.
- 30:52Speaker 5: I voted for Mendoza Pavia. I mean Rodrigo Rodriguez and
- 30:57Speaker 5: Pavia Pavia was starting. And you're right. If I had
- 30:59Speaker 5: to do ever again, I go, son, you wouldn't make
- 31:01Speaker 5: my top ten because that's immature. And I get it.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I've done immature things right up until yesterday. I still did,
- 31:09Speaker 5: but I'm not in a public figure. And once again,
- 31:11Speaker 5: you had a feel you might not win. I mean,
- 31:15Speaker 5: you know there's four guys up there, and to act
- 31:17Speaker 5: like that and then you go ahead and blast the
- 31:22Speaker 5: people that you tried to use to give you publicity
- 31:26Speaker 5: to be there in the first place. Very you know,
- 31:31Speaker 5: I'm with you one thousand percent. And like I said,
- 31:33Speaker 5: I'm sad I vote for him number three A handler.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Of course, I didn't help Johnny either, you know, in
- 31:39Speaker 1: his days he had the wrong handler. But god, yes,
- 31:42Speaker 1: uh yeah. The thing that helped Ji the most is
- 31:45Speaker 1: that Kevin someone wouldn't let him talk as a freshman.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Well, look back, someone wasn't wasn't wasn't wasn't too dumb
- 31:52Speaker 5: to do that.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I mean, you see now flash forward, you know what
- 31:57Speaker 1: all happened. And of course now someone had no RULs
- 32:00Speaker 1: for Johnny, so Johnny did whatever Johnny wanted.
- 32:03Speaker 6: And you mentioned I have a feeling, well, I see
- 32:05Speaker 6: Clark Lee is one of those guys who is a
- 32:09Speaker 6: disciplined guy, right because his team reflects them, right. But
- 32:14Speaker 6: I'm not sure he had ate the control of Diego Pavia.
- 32:16Speaker 6: I don't think, you know.
- 32:17Speaker 1: And the sad thing is anymore to both of them,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you guys, is that they see a lot of their
- 32:23Speaker 1: role models in the NFL get away with a lot
- 32:25Speaker 1: of the of course, of course, and so they don't
- 32:28Speaker 1: get penalized necessarily if they, you know, say something just
- 32:31Speaker 1: totally outlandish. Now not maybe not to that degree, like yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: blank the voters, that was just bad, bad, bad.
- 32:40Speaker 5: You know.
- 32:40Speaker 6: I was like, it's very disappointed because you want elected kid.
- 32:44Speaker 6: The kid was electric. I wanted for him to win
- 32:46Speaker 6: the Heisman, you know, I was electric.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I was rooting for him to win the Hesit.
- 32:51Speaker 5: I said, I don't care because back another year. I
- 32:53Speaker 5: don't want to buy.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I will say, after listening to Mendoza, Oh, it was great.
- 32:58Speaker 1: He is going to bring a whole new meaning to
- 32:59Speaker 1: the those the line right, Yes, he has raised the.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Bar the bar. Yeah, yeah, he's impressive.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He was really impressive talking about his brother and how
- 33:10Speaker 1: much he loved him.
- 33:11Speaker 6: And just all that. It was really good. It was
- 33:15Speaker 6: the right guy ended up winning, yes, right, And.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I know high school coaches, yeah that was cool.
- 33:19Speaker 5: And I know we hop around or whatever, but I
- 33:21Speaker 5: don't want to forget it. Who do you guys think
- 33:24Speaker 5: will be the guest picker? And I know it should
- 33:25Speaker 5: be Rusty, but other.
- 33:27Speaker 6: Than that, who should be the guest pickers?
- 33:29Speaker 5: They've had They've had man Zel one time before, so
- 33:33Speaker 5: they probably wouldn't be a repeat.
- 33:35Speaker 6: So who should be I've thought about that.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Who should be?
- 33:38Speaker 15: You?
- 33:38Speaker 6: Who do you have in your list?
- 33:39Speaker 15: Well?
- 33:40Speaker 5: I was thinking his been the guest picker.
- 33:42Speaker 6: Would be fantastic.
- 33:43Speaker 5: I don't think he has I think he'd be the
- 33:45Speaker 5: best one.
- 33:46Speaker 6: Yeah, that's a great call.
- 33:48Speaker 5: That's what I thought.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I'd love to see Robert Keane too, but.
- 33:50Speaker 6: He's another one that came last night.
- 33:53Speaker 5: I love it and I go it. Yeah, their tomorrow.
- 33:56Speaker 5: So I just wondered who you guys want.
- 33:58Speaker 6: I mean I just named three, and I think any
- 34:00Speaker 6: of those three you couldn't lose with.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I'm not in the songs lot, but Robert.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Earl is touring, so he's probably not available. I don't
- 34:06Speaker 6: know about Lyle, but Artcy would be a great guest.
- 34:08Speaker 6: Arc is a home run.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we know he's here locally, right, and
- 34:12Speaker 1: so I think that'd be a fantastic decision.
- 34:15Speaker 6: I don't know, Okay, good, good question.
- 34:18Speaker 5: He's handled himself in the university, always put the exactly
- 34:22Speaker 5: the first foot.
- 34:23Speaker 6: Exact or not. Like Poby uh coach at Michigan.
- 34:28Speaker 5: You know what you talk about speaking of a screwing up,
- 34:30Speaker 5: you talk about things just catch you off guard. Oh
- 34:32Speaker 5: my gosh, like I go.
- 34:33Speaker 6: But apparently obviously it's been going on the water well sadly, yes,
- 34:37Speaker 6: may cost an athletic director his job well after all
- 34:40Speaker 6: this probe that they're about to do. But I feel
- 34:42Speaker 6: sorry for the family. I feel sorry for his wife
- 34:45Speaker 6: or his kids. It's a horrible situation. But now you
- 34:49Speaker 6: have one of the premieer coaching jobs in America, and
- 34:52Speaker 6: I know we've just been through all of this. Who
- 34:55Speaker 6: are they going to get?
- 34:56Speaker 5: But I also want to see horrible and we talk
- 34:59Speaker 5: about Pavia. But these are all examples of people in power.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Make sure your people know how to handle themselves. It's
- 35:07Speaker 5: just a reminder.
- 35:08Speaker 6: It's hard, you know, when they're giving these ten million
- 35:11Speaker 6: dollar contracts, they're vetting these people, right, I mean I
- 35:14Speaker 6: would think you would think, yeah, they're apparently not very
- 35:18Speaker 6: good at that either.
- 35:20Speaker 1: You know, I bet people before they've comemember.
- 35:22Speaker 6: You better get a guy. You know a name that
- 35:25Speaker 6: came up this week that I just read with Michigan
- 35:28Speaker 6: that in this situation, David Shaw, the former the former
- 35:34Speaker 6: Stanford coach, remember the name above. Reproach with the guy
- 35:39Speaker 6: could coach too right, and he was at a place
- 35:42Speaker 6: where it didn't win very much.
- 35:44Speaker 5: Forget and he won Penn State. Go to Bill O'Brien.
- 35:47Speaker 5: They wanted to pick somebody above the character, which.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Is yes, but one. I mean, I just saw that
- 35:53Speaker 6: name and I said, wow, I hadn't heard that.
- 35:55Speaker 5: And that's if Matt Campbell wouldn't have been hired by
- 35:57Speaker 5: Penn State. He would have been a.
- 35:58Speaker 6: Great you're a and say, guy, how did they screw
- 36:01Speaker 6: up and get a really good football coach out of
- 36:04Speaker 6: all of them?
- 36:04Speaker 5: Well, they got him chip, but I'm still waiting to
- 36:06Speaker 5: see if he can take that next step. Okay, you know,
- 36:09Speaker 5: Dan McCartney, stay too long. You and I are old enough.
- 36:13Speaker 5: He should have gone somewhere with a chance. I wonder
- 36:16Speaker 5: if Matt CAMPBELLI stayed too long.
- 36:18Speaker 6: I don't know. I think he's still coaching. He talked
- 36:21Speaker 6: he is in that players this year. Now, I guess
- 36:23Speaker 6: that's the biggest part of coaching. But but he's gonna
- 36:26Speaker 6: have more resources at Penn State.
- 36:28Speaker 5: I talked to Penn State grand in town that I
- 36:30Speaker 5: have to be two teams, and I said, like, you know,
- 36:33Speaker 5: this guy is more upside than I think. Frankly that
- 36:36Speaker 5: I never was Frankly. He liked Frankly. I said, Frankly
- 36:38Speaker 5: would never win a championship, and unfortunately for him, I
- 36:42Speaker 5: was correct so far. But I'll be really interested to
- 36:44Speaker 5: see what Campbell does. I will. But getting back to
- 36:47Speaker 5: your deal Michigan, there's not a lot of people out
- 36:50Speaker 5: there that above her approach, so to speak.
- 36:52Speaker 6: They need them, Yeah, they need that badly.
- 36:55Speaker 5: You don't have anybody there.
- 36:56Speaker 6: No, No, I mean it's a good question.
- 36:59Speaker 5: I already thought about it.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I mean, Kayla Duboor is number one on my list
- 37:02Speaker 6: right in terms of character and guys who know how
- 37:05Speaker 6: to coach right. And I know what he said today
- 37:07Speaker 6: and I believe it. It's like, hey, I'm not going
- 37:09Speaker 6: to Michigan right stand at Alabama. Have you either one
- 37:13Speaker 6: of y'all seen the may reconsider after the Oklahoma game?
- 37:16Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 37:17Speaker 5: I said the same thing.
- 37:18Speaker 1: You see the special that they've done ESPN did on
- 37:20Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin.
- 37:21Speaker 6: Yes, I heard it. Yeah, that's really well done.
- 37:25Speaker 5: You're saying Lane Kipper's going to Michigan. Were here first?
- 37:28Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying that, but I just thought it
- 37:31Speaker 1: was really funny that they're doing it in the old
- 37:33Speaker 1: Miss Studio. And you know they got he.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Got Yeah, he got Alabama Oklahoma. What do you think.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I don't like rematches, but I like Alabama on this one.
- 37:45Speaker 6: I do too.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they have it offense, Yeah I do too.
- 37:50Speaker 1: But the other thing is if they get to Simpson
- 37:53Speaker 1: like they did, and they can, they can, they can,
- 37:57Speaker 1: they can ugly they can.
- 37:59Speaker 6: That's that's how they win Oklahoma kicking and defense o
- 38:03Speaker 6: Kahoma is.
- 38:03Speaker 5: So good at home.
- 38:04Speaker 6: They're really good at all.
- 38:05Speaker 5: And yet I don't think that's an intimidating place to
- 38:08Speaker 5: go because I've seen A and them play a lot
- 38:10Speaker 5: of times and lose a lot.
- 38:11Speaker 1: But I never saw seventy seven. Nothing felt.
- 38:13Speaker 5: I never felt the facility was like, whoa man, this
- 38:16Speaker 5: is a you know what I'm saying. You go into
- 38:18Speaker 5: Death Valley or Alabama.
- 38:19Speaker 6: I'll tell you what. Those fans will get quiet, really quiet,
- 38:23Speaker 6: in a real hurry if Alabama jumps out on the game.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I've seen that do that. Like in ninety seven.
- 38:31Speaker 5: I'd have to pick Alabama right now. Just I go
- 38:34Speaker 5: for the rematch. And can they really be that in
- 38:37Speaker 5: inept on offense two games in a row of the
- 38:40Speaker 5: same team, and the words in a tough situation.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Well, they got to come back, and I mean they
- 38:46Speaker 1: they got kind of manhandled by Georgia. I mean they
- 38:49Speaker 1: just didn't do much at all right now, So I
- 38:52Speaker 1: think they got to come in and kind of prove
- 38:54Speaker 1: that they belong here because they've taken a lot of
- 38:57Speaker 1: criticism them not belonging.
- 39:00Speaker 6: In this thing. Yes they have, just like Miami, Yes
- 39:02Speaker 6: they have.
- 39:03Speaker 5: If he loses this game. Where Alabama the last two years, boy,
- 39:05Speaker 5: you talk about Nick Saban is no longer.
- 39:07Speaker 1: There four losses at Alabama, that's tough.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I'm saying, Who's who's the favorite in this tournament? Guys, Indiana?
- 39:15Speaker 6: I think so. They they lost one of their best players, right,
- 39:19Speaker 6: their defensive lineman, and that's a that's a big, big loss.
- 39:23Speaker 6: But man, I was impressed with Indiana. I was too,
- 39:26Speaker 6: and that you know, the quarterback is he's nails. They
- 39:30Speaker 6: the tight end was terrific, right. I don't know about
- 39:35Speaker 6: to receive who who's the guy that made the great
- 39:38Speaker 6: catch against spins Steak who got hurt?
- 39:40Speaker 5: He got hurt?
- 39:41Speaker 10: I haven't.
- 39:42Speaker 6: I haven't heard about him this week.
- 39:43Speaker 5: I haven't paid attention to that either.
- 39:46Speaker 6: But he's got an extra two three weeks to heal too,
- 39:49Speaker 6: because they're not playing.
- 39:50Speaker 1: So every team has to have that game where they survive, right, you.
- 39:53Speaker 6: Know, you got to survive, and they have survived in
- 39:56Speaker 6: advance they have.
- 39:56Speaker 1: The Penn State game was very much like South Carolina,
- 40:00Speaker 1: it was, and so yes, they survived.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I think if I had picked somebody, I would
- 40:05Speaker 5: pick Ohio State a gun to my head just because
- 40:09Speaker 5: they've won it until you beat them. Indiana hasn't won
- 40:13Speaker 5: the Ultimate yet. I like Georgia, but now with the
- 40:17Speaker 5: long layoff, Georgia was winning those close games and they
- 40:20Speaker 5: just so dominated Alabama line of scrimmage. I don't know
- 40:24Speaker 5: if they could do that again.
- 40:26Speaker 6: And uh, in my mind they have a walk to
- 40:29Speaker 6: the semi final season that they're going to get the
- 40:31Speaker 6: winner of Old Miss pinn State. Now I get that
- 40:34Speaker 6: Old Miss almost beat them. They did. They should have
- 40:38Speaker 6: beat that. Yeah yeah, yeah, but I mean Ole Miss,
- 40:41Speaker 6: I think is gonna beat too late. Georgia is going
- 40:43Speaker 6: to play the winner, So that's going to be a rematch,
- 40:46Speaker 6: but without Lane and with the new coach, and I
- 40:49Speaker 6: don't know how Old Miss is going to react. Right,
- 40:52Speaker 6: that's it.
- 40:52Speaker 5: That's a good one.
- 40:53Speaker 6: I mean when Lane was on the sideline, they had
- 40:55Speaker 6: them beat and Georgia came back, which they've done several times, right,
- 41:00Speaker 6: and I like Georgia that uh you have I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 6: I don't know. I think it's open. That's it's open.
- 41:08Speaker 6: That's why. That's yes, absolutely they do. You know, parcels All,
- 41:14Speaker 6: I said, just get the tournament, right, just get the tournament.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Well, if you if you win this week, then you're
- 41:22Speaker 1: down to your eight teams, you're the lead eight, right, yeah,
- 41:26Speaker 1: so then you got to win two more to get
- 41:29Speaker 1: the Nasal championship game for the first time.
- 41:31Speaker 6: And you know, yeah, well nineteen thirty nine, well there
- 41:33Speaker 6: wasn't a national championship, so first time ever.
- 41:36Speaker 1: If they could get my mask not real good, it's
- 41:39Speaker 1: been a while.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe they get healthy, Maybe they get Williams and
- 41:42Speaker 5: Moss back. Think about how good that would be. Get it.
- 41:45Speaker 6: Getting a Levy on Moss back was is a big deal.
- 41:48Speaker 5: I think getting Williams back would be a big because
- 41:50Speaker 5: I think has played well at times, but now you
- 41:53Speaker 5: look these last few games, I think people maybe exposed him.
- 41:56Speaker 5: I'm not you know, you look at his numbers.
- 41:58Speaker 6: And I want a kicker real quick.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Here some of these guys are done for the year.
- 42:03Speaker 6: I can't do that. I guess.
- 42:06Speaker 1: There's a waiver.
- 42:07Speaker 6: It's problematic.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I know in a close game it worries me.
- 42:12Speaker 1: If that's the thing that most worries me about. In
- 42:14Speaker 1: Miami can kick well, and if you get into a
- 42:16Speaker 1: close game and you need one.
- 42:17Speaker 6: That's the problem. Yeah.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I had had very little confidence in the Texas game when.
- 42:22Speaker 6: We tried it out. The kicker nobody, nobody's mentioned in
- 42:26Speaker 6: Texas Tech. What do you think. You know, they got
- 42:28Speaker 6: a great opportunity.
- 42:29Speaker 5: That's a good point. But you know, I'm with you
- 42:31Speaker 5: last time.
- 42:32Speaker 6: Once.
- 42:32Speaker 11: I'm not crazy about the QUARTERBA once I saw Morton
- 42:34Speaker 11: play a whole game. Look offensively when he can hit
- 42:40Speaker 11: a pass, but but he's in consistently methodically good.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Like they just wear you down.
- 42:45Speaker 5: They do.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I watched the b YU game and close early.
- 42:49Speaker 6: B why you scored early? And then text Tech came
- 42:51Speaker 6: out like, wait a second, they just had a lot
- 42:54Speaker 6: of talent.
- 42:54Speaker 5: They hurry up.
- 42:55Speaker 6: I have a lot of talent. And and I got
- 42:59Speaker 6: to tell you, if they're playing Oregon, I'm assuming Organ's
- 43:04Speaker 6: beating James Madison and they're playing Organ in the Orange Bowl.
- 43:08Speaker 6: I'm thinking, hey, on a neutral field, I would like
- 43:11Speaker 6: Texas Tech in that game.
- 43:12Speaker 5: So you think that guy know how to pay off officials?
- 43:15Speaker 5: I mean if he can buy a player, you.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Know, Cody Campbell.
- 43:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Okay, so you asked us about the guest picker.
- 43:23Speaker 6: I just had a thought.
- 43:24Speaker 1: You know, if you want to get really a and
- 43:27Speaker 1: m's n i ol money going for next year, you
- 43:29Speaker 1: go ar chaplain the owner of buckis.
- 43:33Speaker 6: So he's a character one, Yeah, he's quite. He's a character. Hey,
- 43:38Speaker 6: he'p be good.
- 43:39Speaker 10: I like that.
- 43:41Speaker 5: Wats his face? Would like clean restrooms?
- 43:43Speaker 6: I like that? All right, we're gonna take a break, right,
- 43:47Speaker 6: that's good. Writers round Table call cal Reese Davis Writers

- 44:41Speaker 15: that's on this team.
- 44:42Speaker 10: It's a different kind of pressure now than some of
- 44:45Speaker 10: the kinds of pressure that people deal with in everyday life.
- 44:48Speaker 10: Let's get real. It's serious. It's important to those that
- 44:52Speaker 10: are involved at that time, but there's a lot more.
- 44:56Speaker 10: I had a coach one time tell me, boy, don't
- 44:59Speaker 10: vote for going for to keep it to single. Don't
- 45:01Speaker 10: put another coaching decision on coaches. And the pressures did
- 45:06Speaker 10: too much, And I said, let me tell you pressure.
- 45:09Speaker 10: Look up those stands and think about that TV audience

- 47:37Speaker 6: and First Financial Bank. Uh I talked basketball a lot
- 47:41Speaker 6: the first hour. We'll hit it a little bit Rusty.
- 47:43Speaker 6: You were there last night. See say what you've made appearance?
- 47:47Speaker 5: Yes I did, Yeah, signed no autographs you what'd you think, well,
- 47:52Speaker 5: that's what you guys said. Very athletic and you playing
- 47:54Speaker 5: the team to as bad as Jacksonville was hard to say,
- 47:57Speaker 5: but you can see how his system works because against
- 48:02Speaker 5: less talented team, if you pass the ball, well, I
- 48:06Speaker 5: bet they had some guys that had two seconds to
- 48:09Speaker 5: go ahead and light up. It's not gonna happen in
- 48:12Speaker 5: sec but you can see how their speed of play.
- 48:15Speaker 5: If you learn to get those shots off fast and
- 48:17Speaker 5: you make them, you can see, like any system you run,
- 48:22Speaker 5: it's all about execution, and you can see how people
- 48:26Speaker 5: like playing for them. You can see how you're If
- 48:29Speaker 5: they're playing that way against Alabama and they lose one
- 48:32Speaker 5: hundred and twelve to one hundred, you know you're gonna
- 48:35Speaker 5: be excited. Go out and see. I like what you
- 48:38Speaker 5: said about and that's my first post game with them,
- 48:40Speaker 5: And of course I didn't ask any questions because first
- 48:43Speaker 5: time I saw them. But you like the honesty about
- 48:45Speaker 5: what he says.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Yes and straightforward and twelve. I had twelve guys and
- 48:50Speaker 1: dould digits left. That's incredible, right, I mean, and like
- 48:55Speaker 1: you said, you have a lot of it. I mean,
- 48:57Speaker 1: there's just dunking over a little bit of guys right,
- 49:00Speaker 1: and their press was bothering the heck Jacksonville. I mean
- 49:04Speaker 1: those guys are panicking in a corner and nineteen turnovers. Yeah,
- 49:10Speaker 1: but yeah, the SMU game. You know, I was at
- 49:13Speaker 1: that game last week and it was a toward comeback,
- 49:16Speaker 1: and I spoke with Bucky afterwards a little bit. He said,
- 49:19Speaker 1: I promise you we'll never lose another game like that
- 49:23Speaker 1: because our kids will learn down the road. And again
- 49:26Speaker 1: he's this is just a so much more competitive team
- 49:30Speaker 1: than I really thought he'd ever have a chance to
- 49:33Speaker 1: do this first year. So they're impressing me now that
- 49:36Speaker 1: I know what you said, and I agree with you
- 49:39Speaker 1: all the way in terms of, yeah, it's gonna change
- 49:41Speaker 1: a lot when they get to the league.
- 49:42Speaker 6: But if they could get the five hundred, which I
- 49:44Speaker 6: don't think that's it's no longer than possible exactly. I thought,
- 49:49Speaker 6: it's not, it's not.
- 49:50Speaker 1: It's something within reach, and I think it is.
- 49:54Speaker 6: You know, they're gonna look bad.
- 49:55Speaker 1: They could probably get blown out of the gym on sometimes,
- 49:57Speaker 1: especially a road games when they go play at Alabama.
- 50:01Speaker 6: Said they're gonna they're gonna win some games they're not
- 50:03Speaker 6: supposed to do. And they're gonna lose some games they're
- 50:05Speaker 6: not supposed to do.
- 50:07Speaker 1: And I thought SMU did a great job of like
- 50:09Speaker 1: shutting down to Mingas on the outside.
- 50:11Speaker 6: And then well they wore SMU out because SMU went
- 50:14Speaker 6: and lost to l s U over the weekend.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they're not bad. They're pretty good. They'd beatn Oklahoma State.
- 50:21Speaker 6: And everybody's got a seven to two guy in the middle.
- 50:23Speaker 6: It seems like that's speaking of which Saturday night, I'm flipping,
- 50:27Speaker 6: there's lots of good basketball on.
- 50:29Speaker 10: Well.
- 50:30Speaker 6: Maryland and Buzz are hosting Michigan. Michigan's Do you watch
- 50:35Speaker 6: some of the game. I just one of one of
- 50:37Speaker 6: the two best teams in America. Michigan Arizona State are
- 50:41Speaker 6: the two best team in America. Buzz is up like
- 50:43Speaker 6: nine in the second half of that game. Now I
- 50:46Speaker 6: know you're looking at score as it ended up double
- 50:49Speaker 6: digits and they Buzz up night. That's what happens. Farrel
- 50:53Speaker 6: Paynes playing like all America. No no, no, he didn't.
- 50:57Speaker 6: He got hurt. Okay, so real Paye goes out. He's
- 51:01Speaker 6: dominating inside against a huge Michigan team. Okay, I wouldn't
- 51:06Speaker 6: say dominating, but he's holding his own and he's scoring. Okay,
- 51:09Speaker 6: he was really good. Okay, but and I didn't see
- 51:14Speaker 6: the first half. Solomon Washington, he gets his second technical
- 51:19Speaker 6: foul and thrown out of the game when they're up nine. Wow,
- 51:25Speaker 6: ball king.
- 51:27Speaker 1: He didn't drive me as that technical He didn't strive
- 51:29Speaker 1: me as that count of player here.
- 51:30Speaker 6: Oh yes, he was really mauthy yo. Yeah, and both
- 51:34Speaker 6: of them, none of them were like an elbow in. No, no, no,
- 51:37Speaker 6: it's trash talking, all right, trash talking. They're up nine
- 51:42Speaker 6: and the crowd is in it, and they've got this
- 51:44Speaker 6: Michigan team on the ropes. I promise you now Solo's
- 51:48Speaker 6: tossed game over.
- 51:51Speaker 1: I thought you're gonna tell us that Solo went to
- 51:52Speaker 1: the rack by himself like fourteen times in a row.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Because the guy did not ever want to pass the ball,
- 51:58Speaker 1: that's for sure. Once you pass to him, he was
- 52:00Speaker 1: going to back you down and back you down. And yes, yeah,
- 52:03Speaker 1: there was a it was like a funnel. I mean
- 52:06Speaker 1: once again it it did not come back.
- 52:08Speaker 6: But you know, he wasn't playing like that. He was
- 52:10Speaker 6: he was actually running within the course of what whatever
- 52:13Speaker 6: they're trying to do, you know, whatever tries, Buzz tries
- 52:16Speaker 6: to do.
- 52:16Speaker 1: But is he the only two players from last year
- 52:19Speaker 1: they're playing.
- 52:19Speaker 6: Yeah, that the kid that Buzz recruited here all day
- 52:22Speaker 6: and the campus the guard and he's really good. I
- 52:25Speaker 6: wish he had stayed here. He's really good. But yeah,
- 52:30Speaker 6: I mean, it's.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Just like there's some more books about integrity or something
- 52:34Speaker 1: like that.
- 52:37Speaker 6: You need to let that go, period. But you've got
- 52:46Speaker 6: to see bucket and action post game, you know. And
- 52:48Speaker 6: I just really like the fact that he's going he's
- 52:51Speaker 6: going to answer the question and he's gonna be straightforward.
- 52:53Speaker 5: And I watched to do the advanced when he met
- 52:55Speaker 5: on Friday and he apologizes for being under the weather
- 52:59Speaker 5: that he talks about the Seau game. He goes, I
- 53:01Speaker 5: didn't sleep, that's well under the weather. Yeah, so you
- 53:04Speaker 5: can see that one.
- 53:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I remember saying that.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I was laughing that was funny. Yeah, Yeah, you can
- 53:09Speaker 5: see that.
- 53:09Speaker 1: But you know, I've got to know him and he
- 53:12Speaker 1: is just he is what he appears to be. And yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 1: I think the players love him because he shoots them
- 53:20Speaker 1: straight too.
- 53:21Speaker 6: Yes he does. And he either do this or sit
- 53:23Speaker 6: down right, and he has the depth to the people
- 53:26Speaker 6: do that yes he does.
- 53:27Speaker 1: And so when Domingas didn't shoot the ball when he
- 53:30Speaker 1: was asked, like when he's asked too, because asked me
- 53:32Speaker 1: because I was close to the bench, and he was like,
- 53:35Speaker 1: I want you to keep shooting. Well, he hesitated, he
- 53:38Speaker 1: didn't play again. I mean, he's out of there, you know,
- 53:40Speaker 1: like listen, shooters got to shoot. Like so he missed
- 53:43Speaker 1: the first three last night, well right back down.
- 53:46Speaker 6: The next one he drilled.
- 53:48Speaker 1: You know, And so he's getting the message across to
- 53:52Speaker 1: these guys time.
- 53:54Speaker 6: I just I don't like seeing the six to ten
- 53:56Speaker 6: guys shooting three, right. I don't like where Sean ag
- 54:00Speaker 6: shooting the three. Unfortunately, Vincent made history. It didn't matter.
- 54:03Speaker 1: It's a thirty five guy in front of me. He
- 54:05Speaker 1: was lasting like, oh no, yeah, see what.
- 54:10Speaker 6: Like yeah, but you don't want it.
- 54:11Speaker 1: The guy turned around. I didn't like it either.
- 54:14Speaker 6: Yeah, And and Bacco the same way. Now, I know
- 54:18Speaker 6: what Bacco, that's his game.
- 54:19Speaker 1: He's a much better three point shooter. He's got a touch,
- 54:22Speaker 1: but he don't want age out there. And he hit
- 54:25Speaker 1: one last night.
- 54:25Speaker 6: I know he's hit five for the year. Now, it's
- 54:28Speaker 6: the worst thing, you know, don't do that he's a
- 54:33Speaker 6: man underneath there. He plays so big, plays hard.
- 54:37Speaker 1: I love that about him, you know, I'd rather see
- 54:39Speaker 1: him and he just is relentless in the low post. No,
- 54:43Speaker 1: he's not, but god, he works hard.
- 54:46Speaker 6: He does.
- 54:47Speaker 1: He's one of those guys that's really a joy to.
- 54:49Speaker 6: The poor man's mostess. Malone correct, it's a really good call. Yeah, yeah,
- 54:54Speaker 6: I mean he's he's in there, working man. He's sweating.
- 54:57Speaker 6: He's sweating like Barkley him mouth a little bit too,
- 55:01Speaker 6: but I kind of like the way he does it. Yeah,
- 55:03Speaker 6: he's got an attitude.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Mbaco got into it. Was a guy last night too
- 55:08Speaker 1: on the floor.
- 55:09Speaker 6: That's okay. Yeah, you know you went a little attitude.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Yeah, everybody talks.
- 55:13Speaker 6: So boys, I'm not going to see you till next year.
- 55:18Speaker 6: We will have a SEC Basketball Conference game to talk about.
- 55:21Speaker 6: We may be talking national championship by January. Wow.
- 55:25Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 55:26Speaker 6: That's that's our next get together.
- 55:28Speaker 1: So by then I will put the Texas game out
- 55:30Speaker 1: of my mind.
- 55:31Speaker 6: Okay, that's that's your goal on the way to start.
- 55:34Speaker 6: That's your goal for twenty twenty six, exactly, Rusty Berson,
