- 2:44continue on with Crime for King. But here now is The Bennett Matter Part
- 2:49five from Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny Dillar. H Johnny Andy,
- 2:58I saw George Foley and able to make him changes. Please. Well it
- 3:00was a good try. Jury still out. Yeah, that means they're arguing
- 3:06all the technical evidence. I was just thinking, no one really believes will
- 3:08get Arnold Bennett. What do you think I think we will. I know
- 3:13we will if we can get fully, we can get Bennett women. Hey,
- 3:17the jury foreman just sent for the bailiff. I'll be right there tonight
- 3:28and every weekday night, Bob Bailey in the transcribed Adventures of the Man with
- 3:31the Action Packed Expense Account, America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator is Truley Johnny Dollar.
- 3:51Expense account submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar to the for State Fire Insurance
- 3:55Corporation, forty sixty five Spear Boulevard, Hertford, Connecticut. The following is
- 4:00an accounting of expended yours during my investigation of the Bennett Arson fraud expense account
- 4:08at am eleven ten cents one phone call to the hospital. The report on
- 4:13Arnold Bennett substantiated the newspaper story that he was recovering from the gunshot wound inflicted
- 4:16by his niece. Well, one thing, Johnny, He'll be alive for
- 4:20us if we can go after him. I wish it would worked with Folly.
- 4:25I think I get amated work if that lawyer Eggleston hadn't been there.
- 4:29Let's after four. You know that jury doesn't come in with a verdict.
- 4:32Pretty soon they left to adjourn for the night. Yeah I want to smoke.
- 4:36Yeah, thanks, Jenny, I would like that. Yeah. Thanks.
- 4:45Hey, they're coming back in. Oh yeah, come on, all
- 4:49right, stuffy in this courtroom. Yeah, excuse card is no in session.
- 5:02We see that as the jury reached the verdict in the case of the
- 5:08State versus George Foley, we have sir, will you please read the verdict
- 5:15on this card? We we the jury find the defendant, George fully guilty's
- 5:27charge. Come, I got some things to tell you. Now, was
- 5:44this with you dollar Andy Cord with the insurance company? Now, look,
- 5:49I haven't got any deals to offer, fully, you know that. I
- 5:53know that's how I took a chance. It's a lousy five more years.
- 5:57What about Arnold Bennett? You're a lax. I want some information first.
- 6:02They only gave us ten minutes. Fully, well's Bennett Now he's still in
- 6:06the hospital. He's going to be all right, he's out, my man,
- 6:12it's a break. Oh, come on, fully, let's have it.
- 6:14If you have anything to say, can you get Bennett. Can you
- 6:18really get him? I'll tell you frankly, we think we can get him
- 6:23with or without your help. Now it doesn't make too much difference. Maybe
- 6:27it'll take longer without your help, but we'll get him. The fact that
- 6:30the court is going to convict you for having set fire to Bennett's office building
- 6:33is the lever we've needed. We can go after him now. You want
- 6:38to help us, fully, I don't want to help you, just thinking
- 6:40insurance company. But I hate the idea of Bennett, mister no one do
- 6:44everything running around eating good food and sleeping in his nice bed when I'm rocking
- 6:47on way in prison. Sure. Sure, he hired me to fire his
- 6:53building. He paid me twenty five hundred bucks to put the torch of that
- 6:56lousy build in his He said he could throw all the blame and a guy
- 6:59named MIAs it came out. We want the facts, fully, How do
- 7:01he first contact you? I got a friend of those things seeing My friend
- 7:08told me to contact when a couple of days for the job. Come on,
- 7:13fully, who's your friend? I'm gonna tell you everything. Did you
- 7:16talk to Bennett in person about firing the building? I talked to him on
- 7:20the phone after my friend told me about it. Bennett said he wanted the
- 7:25place to go down because he's having money trouble, taxes and all. And
- 7:29he offered me a thousand bucks in a job. Wait a minute, fully,
- 7:30you just said you got twenty five hundred. I did, I did.
- 7:33I hung up on him when he offered me a thousand. I called
- 7:38him back later on and told him I wanted four thousand. Well, we
- 7:41all gue about it and then finally hit on the twenty five hundred. Did
- 7:44you meet him then? Sure? No, I never met him. I
- 7:47saw him once and I walked by the bill and look it over, but
- 7:50I never met him. Bennett's sniece said she saw you two together. Fully
- 7:54a sworn statement. You know she's alive. How about the money? How'd
- 7:57he pay it to you? He left it for me and the check stand
- 8:01at the bus time and over on Fourth Street. I told him how to
- 8:03do that. I wanted to leave it. Now. Let me get this
- 8:05straight. Fully, you made the deal to fire the building over the phone,
- 8:09and you went ahead and looked at the job. You never talked to
- 8:11Bennett in person, that's right, And you made arrangements for him to pay
- 8:16you twenty five hundred dollars by leaving it in the check stand at the bus
- 8:18termin all. Yeah, why did you make these arrangements the day before the
- 8:24job? How'd you work it? I just told you, I mean the
- 8:26money, oh half of it the first time, and after the job was
- 8:31over, he left the other half on me and you got it all sure,
- 8:35sure in cash? Why are you trying to see him in the hospital
- 8:39after he was shot, trying to shake him down from another five? Come
- 8:45on, let's start over. What do you mean, Oh, you're trying
- 8:46to sell us a build of goods here? For what reason? I don't
- 8:50know, but I know this. You had to meet Bennett. You had
- 8:52to see him fully, You had to talk it over with him personally.
- 8:56I just told you I picked up the money in the bus time. I
- 8:58don't believe that Bennett wouldn't have left the money for you to pick up.
- 9:01You could have just gone away with it. And after the building was burned.
- 9:05If it had been that way, Bennett didn't have to pay you the
- 9:07balance. I wanted to just see him. It's pretty important to know when
- 9:11and where and how many times you and Bennett got together. Thought you said
- 9:15you could get him. Whether I told you anything that we can we can,
- 9:18brother, don't ever doubt that. But if you tell us some facts,
- 9:20we can get him faster. All right? Now, where did you
- 9:24first meet him? Was it in a restaurant someplace with people around? No?
- 9:28No, I met him in his car. He was park on Market
- 9:33Street in a fifth That's the way we ranged to meet each other over the
- 9:35fonts. Did anybody see you meet him? People on the street? When
- 9:41did this meeting happen? Night? I touched this building? He paid you?
- 9:43Then? Yeah, the whole twenty five hundred, all of it.
- 9:46What'd you do with the money? You still have it? Never mind,
- 9:50this is a waste of time. You weren't telling us anything. Why should
- 9:54I why'd you call us here if you didn't have anything to say? Well,
- 9:56I'm saying something. You guys are lessener. We continued questioning fully about
- 10:07his association with Arnold Bennett. Each time he explained it, it was a
- 10:11different story. The only thing he admitted was that Bennett had hired him to
- 10:15fire the building. As far as the details of it were concerned, they
- 10:18were lost in a jumble of contradictory answers. He gave us expense account at
- 10:26him twelve five dollars and sixty cents dinner for Andrew Cordon myself. The next
- 10:33morning we returned to the Hall of Justice to question George Forley once more.
- 10:39All right, folly, now, how much did you say Arnold Bennett paid
- 10:41you for the job? A thousand dollars? You told us twenty five hundred
- 10:46one time, another time you said five thousand. Now, come on,
- 10:48what was it? Thousand dollars? And when did he pay you? Right
- 10:54after I fired the building, I met him right af was down on the
- 10:56street in his car. He asked me if was all set? And I
- 11:00fell him elism with the sirens. Pretty soon somebody put in the alarm and
- 11:03the fire engines come out. He pay me then, all right, place
- 11:05was three quarters gone by that time. He knew I did a good job.
- 11:11Where was this she met him? Now? A couple of blocks of
- 11:15ability? Did anybody see you together? No? Where did you telephone him
- 11:18from for my place? Same night you started the fire. Yeah, and
- 11:24he brought you the money that night, and you cased the building that night,
- 11:26and you started the fire. All this in one night. You got
- 11:28it? Now, that's the ticket, boy. It became increasingly evident that
- 11:39Fully was attempting to convince us that he was mentally deranged, in spite of
- 11:43the fact that he'd already been tried and found guilty and was slated to a
- 11:46peer at ten thirty the following morning for sentencing. It's an old trick and
- 11:50with arsonists where sanity is question from the beginning a good one. However,
- 11:54Fully had been examined by three psychiatrists appointed by the courts. I went in
- 11:58the jail cell with Fully. Andy Coyd went out to get copies of their
- 12:01findings. When he returned, we showed them to Fully. Oh share,
- 12:07good you got, John, Well, what do you show me these things?
- 12:13To let you know? There's no way to get out of it now,
- 12:15Folly. These are from psychiatrists. All of them had a good look
- 12:18at you. You're sane, You're all right. Do you remember when they
- 12:24looked at you? No, all right? Look at the dates on the
- 12:26paper you can read, can't shore January fifteenth January sixteenth January twenty first witnesses
- 12:33were around for all the examinations. Well, well are you through playing games?
- 12:43Now? Okay, delly, you guys will come on give us the
- 12:48story. I met Arnold Bennett at the Hopkins Bob about a month before the
- 12:56fire. I made sure i'd meet them there. Now, what do you
- 12:58mean fully? Well, I've been setting fires for living for a long time
- 13:03now. I always have a list of people like Benn. I took to
- 13:07use a fire I get around. I knew he was in trouble four or
- 13:11five years ago with the income tax people. They sent a guy to prison
- 13:13for cover up, Yes, Tony Midas, and I figured he'd be needing
- 13:18another one pretty soon. So we got a drink. I brought it up.
- 13:22Who prayed for the drinks? Who saw you together? The bartender name
- 13:26is Alfred it was I made a d there a couple of people at the
- 13:30table. I put the proposition up them. How do you like that?
- 13:33Was Bill, and burnt down and collect his five hundred thousand dollars get himself
- 13:37out of trouble. Well, he said he'd like that fine. I told
- 13:39him to cast him five thousand bucks in advance. Said he couldn't raise that
- 13:43much, but he didn't manage to get thirty five hundred together. I took
- 13:46it and I did the job. What did you do with the money?
- 13:50I still got it where it's not going to do me any good. Now.
- 13:56I buried it in a gallon can a vacant lot over by the tower.
- 13:58I could show you where. Okay, we'll get you to do that.
- 14:03Swell, I'll be glad. Hey, I can send Bennett up the
- 14:09same way you are sending me. Yeah. I can testify against him.
- 14:13At his trial. The next morning, at ten thirty, George Foley received
- 14:24the maximum sentence. Two hours later, charges were filed against Arnold Bennett,
- 14:28naming him for conspiracy, arson attempted to fraud, and collusion. A warrant
- 14:33was issued for his immediate arrest, but it was never served. Arnol Bennett
- 14:37died in the hospital that night. In a way, you could still say
- 14:43that no one ever beat him. He beat himself. Expense account had him
- 14:52thirteen eighty seven dollars and fifty cents. Hotel on board in San Francisco had
- 14:56him fourteen another one hundred and twenty five dollars. Trans Vitation back to Hartford
- 15:01I had him fifteen thirty five dollars. Miscellaneous expense account total one and forty
- 15:07dollars and thirty seven cents. Remarks nothing yours truly, Johnny Dollar Remember there'll
- 15:28be another intriguing story for you beginning next Monday Night. Next week the Phantom
- 15:33five Matter, Death on the High Seas. Join us, won't you?
- 15:39Yours Truly Johnny Dollar. Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, starring Bob Bailey, is
- 16:03transcribed in Hollywood. Written by John Dawson, It is produced and directed by
- 16:10Jack Johnstone. Heard in this week's cast were Lillian Baya, Stacy Harris,
- 16:15chat Stratton, Will Wright, Marvin Miller, Hans Conried, Edgar Barrier,
- 16:21and Parley Bear. Musical supervision by Abarigo Marino. Be sure to join us
- 16:26on Monday night, same time and station for another exciting story of Yours Truly,
- 16:32Johnny Dollar. This is Roy Rowan speaking, uh, welcome back.
- 17:33Well, I downbeat and as they don't as they in a way they don't
- 17:38catch their man. But in some ways you felt the insurance company was kind
- 17:47of, you know, they were kind of extending their goal, perhaps a
- 17:49little bit beyond what it needed to be, because ultimately, in the end,
- 17:56what they needed to do was to stop them from being able to defraud
- 18:07the insurance company, and so the estate doesn't get that extra money. And
- 18:11so I guess that I could consider that a win. The only thing they
- 18:17lost was having to deal with the Arsonists. That's what really makes things seem
- 18:22futile, because they went to all this trouble to get the information from the
- 18:26Arsonist and he, you know, he basically ends up not giving them anything
- 18:30because the guys, you know, because their suspect dies and they can't try
- 18:36him. Well, I should mention this episode was actually adapted from three different
- 18:44scripts by E Jack Newman. It borrowed from Jeff Reagan Investigator script The Man
- 18:49Who Came Back, The Adventures of Sam Spade, the Champion Keeper, and
- 18:55it borrowed from an episode of Yours Truly Jony Dollar the l Champion. So
- 19:04uh, this is one of those plots that E Jack Newman just reused and
- 19:08reused. All right, well, that will actually do it for Johnny Dollar.
- 19:15But now it's Tom or Crime for King. Part two, Gotta Brown
- 19:33Mystery Adventures in Excitement and Suspense, based on the best selling novels by the
- 19:41slick storytelling Sensation Gotta Brown. The yacht moved through a heavy swell at fast
- 20:00clip. My thoughts moved through a heavy head at a feeble crawl. I
- 20:03looked around me the cabin was fit for a king. But this king's name
- 20:07was Roger. And why Roger King had been drugged and then dragged on board?
- 20:11I hadn't the faintest idea. All I knew was the first I was
- 20:14working for Poulvy trailing Elite Increase. Then I was working for Elites trailing Pulvy,
- 20:18And in the course of that, Pulvy's secretary Marcia Oliver ped me a
- 20:22dope Martinian here. I was all set for a cruise to the Caribbean.
- 20:29I decided to come up for a breath of fresh air, mister King.
- 20:32That's right, Captain Harris, and it feels very fresh. Yeah, the
- 20:36swell is getting heavier. We look like having some fog. You have breakfast?
- 20:41Yes? Thanks, you run a first rate service for shanghaied passengers.
- 20:45We do our best. You don't feel like doing better? Still and telling
- 20:48me why I'm here and who owns this boat? I'm sorry I can't oblige
- 20:52you. Well, no harm in trying. Oh, mister King, I
- 20:55think you better go below. I've had my quarter of fresh air. Huh,
- 20:59I prefer in your cabin. I had one of the crew conduct you,
- 21:03well, if I'm going to be incarcerated for anny long periods. Do
- 21:06you mind if I borrow one of your bottles to keep me company? And
- 21:07not at all? There's a good supply in the saloon. You can stop
- 21:11off and pick up some of your way down. I didn't notice the rest
- 21:19of the day pass, due largely to the bottle, whose contents transferred from
- 21:23it to me made things seem less bewildering. And then it happened. I
- 21:33was flung from the bunk to the floor, the empty bottle still in my
- 21:37hand. I picked myself up and tried the door. It was locked.
- 21:40The engines had stopped up above. I heard footsteps running along the deck,
- 21:44and after a while it was silence except for a single sinister sound. The
- 21:48plash of running water cavin tiller to a crazy angle, and I could see
- 21:53the water creeping in under the door. And I was forced to the comfortless
- 21:56conclusion that I had been left to my fate. And then I was proved
- 22:00wrong. Oh hi, there, sailor, how's a hard pie. You're
- 22:06right, let's take him. That's just as well. We hit a reef,
- 22:11mister King got too close inshore, and the thought, oh no,
- 22:15I never plenty of yet it's bad luck for you though. If this hadn't
- 22:19happened, you could have enjoyed a ten days cruise and then we'd have dumped
- 22:23you someplace and that would have been it. As things are now, I'm
- 22:29afraid I'll have to kill you. Why, you bold bad boy. You
- 22:33see, we can't take any risk of you being around on the eighteenth.
- 22:37That was the whole reason for getting you aboard, to keep you out of
- 22:41the way till after the eighteen. No, I'm sorry, King, I'll
- 22:48have to give it to you. What another bottle a bullet? Are you
- 22:52kidding? No, I'm not. There's already about a foot of water in
- 22:56here. I'm gonna shoot you and you'll go down with a Hey. I
- 23:00think you're really serious, perfectly theoria, goodbye King. Oh no, I'll
- 23:10eventually never figured I was such a good shout on an empty bottle, the
- 23:19bottle I had thrown in desperation that struck Harris just above the temple. If
- 23:23i'd been stone cold sober, I don't think i'd ever have done it.
- 23:27I left him lying there in the water, which was rapidly rising in the
- 23:30cabin, and made my way to the deck. I looked at the reef
- 23:34on which the yacht had struck, then at the wave, now pounding hungrily
- 23:38against the sides of the vessel. Suddenly it lurched under my feet. That
- 23:42told me, as plainly as words, that it was my time to get
- 23:45off. Reef below didn't look inviting, but it looked safer than the yacht.
- 23:48Swung out over the guard rail and let myself drop landed on the rock
- 23:53and old forest. And as I picked myself up and stumbled away from the
- 23:56yacht, there was a harsh, rending sound. I turned to see the
- 24:03yacht slowly turned sideways and disappear. Then I headed towards the end of the
- 24:07reef. I remember staggering across the slippery rock service and then the sudden shock
- 24:12of the ice cold water, and nothing more. Take it easy, now,
- 24:25come on, come on, drink some more. Not so fast?
- 24:29Now, what's this? Bed? Blankets? Where am I in? Bed
- 24:36in my gottage? Mister king, Come on, have a little more of
- 24:38this brandy. Yeah, how'd I get here? I found you on the
- 24:47beach. You must have made it to the end of the reef and swum
- 24:49the rest of the way. Don't remember, only remember the water. I
- 24:53saw the yacht strike, and then I came down to the beach. Later
- 24:56I saw an upturned dinghy out of sea. Then I found you. What
- 25:02about the others don't know? Well, perhaps you'd better not talk anymore.
- 25:07Mister king, you know my name. When I stripped off your clothes,
- 25:11I took out your wallet. Naturally I look through it, but cat'sure safe,
- 25:14your license, your money, everything. My name is Wallace. By
- 25:18the way, you Wallace or mister Wallace. I guess I owe my life
- 25:21to you. That seems to entitle you to the whole story. And that
- 25:30said mister Wallace, right up to the time I saw the yacht go under
- 25:33the rest of it. Well, you know, it's an incredible story.
- 25:37What are you gonna do now? Going back to where I came from?
- 25:41I'm annoyed enough now to want to pizza revenge and another thing too. I'm
- 25:45curious about that date Harris mentioned, the eighteen. I'd like to find out
- 25:49why I had to be kept away until after that, and what exactly is
- 25:52going to happen on the eighteen What about the wreck? I've been thinking about
- 25:56that you saw an upturned dingy, looks as if the rest of the crew
- 26:00must have ground. I know Harris is dead, and that leaves me the
- 26:03only survivor. I'd like to keep quiet about the wreck for two reasons.
- 26:08One because explain Harris's death would be awkward. Two because with Poulvy and his
- 26:15secretary thinking I'm dead gives me an advantage. But of course your conscience may
- 26:21insist on reporting the thing. Mister Wallace, Well, it's up to you.
- 26:25You saved my life, and I won't argue with you on your decision,
- 26:27whatever it may be. I believe your story, Roger. It's too
- 26:32fantastic to be anything but the truth, and I'm only too happy to keep
- 26:37quiet about the wreck. You see, I'm wanted in four states for forgery.
- 26:45It was good to get home. It was good to roll into my
- 26:48own bed and sleep eighteen hours straight. It was close to lunch time of
- 26:53the next day when I got to my office and found an irate note from
- 26:56my employer, Miss Saint Cris. I flicked theleophone dial to the number in
- 27:00her note. Ah ah, Hello, good morning, Eliz, Roger King
- 27:11speaking. Oh, I got your note. A tone of it seemed rather
- 27:15angry, with good reason. Where have you been the last three days around
- 27:18A round is expensive by two hundred dollars. That is the amount I pete.
- 27:22You remember I want more than that, you, Darvin, I've been
- 27:26busy. I couldn't wait around my office for a call. This had better
- 27:30be good. Otherwise I shall ask Johnny to call on you and convince you
- 27:33that it is better to produce results. Johnny, who was driving my car
- 27:37the other night. I remember Johnny bends iron bars before breakfast, simply because
- 27:42he has to work off his surface energy. That ape, if he gets
- 27:45near me, I'm liable to forget. I'm trying to be a gentleman and
- 27:48break a chair over his head. Oh, I'll tell him that if you'll
- 27:52worry him for weeks. Now look leaving your playmate Johnny out of the picture
- 27:55for a while. I'm under something really good. I can't tell you yet,
- 27:57not until I'm really sure. This begins to sound like stalling to me.
- 28:02Just give me two more days, after all, as long as you
- 28:03know before the eighteenth, that's all right, now, very well. I'm
- 28:10prepared to give you two more days. But if I don't hear from you
- 28:12by then, you will really be in trouble. That I can get it
- 28:18misticate. So the eighteenth means something to you too, baby. The question
- 28:26is what? And I figured there's only one person who can tell me that.
- 28:38You learn all kinds of handy hints in the private eye profession. One
- 28:42of them is how to use a knife blade to open a window. I
- 28:48thought I had a good half hour before Marcia Oliver got home, more than
- 28:52enough time for a quick look around. The platinum blinds. Wardrobe was full
- 28:59of clothes, and if those clothes have been bought out of a salary as
- 29:02a stenographer, then brother I was gonna take up shorthand and typing. I
- 29:07looked around for a hiding place. Full length drapes over the living room windows
- 29:11seem to be as good a place as any. Arrange the drapes carefully,
- 29:15leaving myself a crack to seat throom, took a deep breath and settled down.
- 29:22Here we are money. I'll get us a drink. It's something I
- 29:26need more than liquor. Come here for Robbie. You're gonna tell me you
- 29:36don't like it, but there's no time. You can't stay here more than
- 29:40a minute. Ali's coming. One of these days I'm gonna wring his neck.
- 29:45You can do it with pleasure, baby, but not before it's too
- 29:48valuable. Yeah, it makes me sick when I think of that slugging you.
- 29:55It won't be for long. Now. Come on, let me give
- 29:59you a drink and get go. Skip the drink, I'll just have the
- 30:00same again. You must get out of here, Okay, okay, Well
- 30:08I won't be happy with the whole thing's over. That's the day I'm living
- 30:11for two lover, baby bye. You got pull one for me too,
- 30:22monsieur, Only this time you can skip the mickey fence. You're dead?
- 30:26You mean I should be dead, but I'm not. How did you get
- 30:30in here through the window. I've been behind the curtains for quite a while.
- 30:34Well, I don't know what you want here, But mister Paulvy will
- 30:37be calling very soon his regular visit, huh, which explains all that expensive
- 30:40clothing you ow. If he finds you here, I'll turn you over to
- 30:42the police. I don't think so, baby, not after that little sea
- 30:45trip you arrange for me, you and Pulvie. I presume I think you'd
- 30:48better give me a little information. If you don't, I'll tell Poulvie of
- 30:52the pretty little scene I just witnessed between you and dear Rodney. I'm sure
- 30:56i'd love to hear all about it. What do you want for a start?
- 30:59The eighteen? That's a date everyone seems to be interested in. What
- 31:03happens then. I don't know, now, Baby, don't start with the
- 31:07fairy stories. Holby says he's pulling off a big deal. Then there'll be
- 31:11a stack of money and I'll get some. That's all I know. Well,
- 31:14I could be true, I guess. And why did you slip me
- 31:17that dope Martini? I was scared when you said you followed me home.
- 31:21I thought Paulvey's wife might have put you onto me. I wanted to keep
- 31:23you here until I could get in touch with Paulvey and ask him what to
- 31:26do, and he suggested the seat trip. Yes, I don't think I
- 31:29believe you, but I can wait. When paulve comes tonight find out something
- 31:33deffinite about the eighteen. I'll call back around midnight. You'd better know then
- 31:38or I'll blow the whole works to pale Polvie. So it's up to you,
- 31:42baby, Welcome back now. After wonder what Roger King expects to get
- 32:00from the help of the secretary because nobody, including Roger King himself, actually
- 32:08believes that she doesn't know what's going to happen on the eight tapes. But
- 32:15we do have I think a decent twist in the story, and certainly,
- 32:22you know, we're halfway through it, so there's a lot of time for
- 32:27this to develop, so I'm going to definitely look forward to seeing what happens
- 32:30in the next part. Well, now we do turn to some listener comments
- 32:36and feedback mark emails in regarding Whitney Kent and the High Fly and the High
- 32:45Sky Hoodoo story that Kent guy doesn't know jack about aircraft. He mispronounced the
- 32:52aircraft terms to parafy it phrase the match read was one the speed of sound.
- 33:00He pronounced it a soft match A soft pronounced it much soft seas and
- 33:07it should be mock hard k word comes from the poly math Ernst Mock.
- 33:15My formative years were on supersonic air force basis. That's a good point,
- 33:21you know. I'm going to defer to Australian audience members to see if there's
- 33:25any local variations on some of those pronunciations. The thing with most of the
- 33:32Carter Brown mysteries is they really do try to set these stories up as if
- 33:38they are happening in the United States. But occasionally there's linguistic things that I
- 33:47think think, you know, just kind of natural to Australian audiences, and
- 33:52also you know, just to make it sound not too foreign, that do
- 33:58kind of make a It's clear. I remember one episode, I believe it
- 34:02was Back during the Night, Mere for Night, where someone mentioned going to
- 34:12buy a petrol, which isn't something that would be said by someone in the
- 34:16United States, which is where the characters are supposed to be at. So
- 34:21I'm wondering if there is some local variation. I'll refer to our Australian listeners,
- 34:27who, according to stats were our fourth highest source of listeners in terms
- 34:35of country US, Canada, UK and Australia, and then Germany fifth and
- 34:42everybody else further back. So any Australian listeners love to hear from you if
- 34:47there was some local variation. Finally, have this comment from ec fan regarding
- 34:53the app the latest update. Oh sorry, this one's from Michelle Myers.
