- 0:49Speaker 1: Hi love.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You may not think that affirmations are that sexy, but what if I told you they are?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Hi love.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dear Divorce Diary, the podcast helping divorcees go beyond talk therapy to process your grief, find the healing you crave and build back your confidence.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm your host, dawn Wiggins, a therapist, coach, integrative healer and divorcee.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Join me for a fresh approach to healing grief and building your confidence after divorce.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Did you know that an affirmation, when it's's well-used and well-paired and repeated in a meaningful way, can actually help you change the complete trajectory of your life, can help you attract and manifest the life you want to build after divorce?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Let's check it out, hi love.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So if you've been hanging out with me lately, you know I have been saying a lot.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Everything is always working out for me and I have been singing it and making up songs about it, and I have been saying it so much my kid has started saying it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I've been saying it so much, people kind of look at me strange.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And so here's the deal with affirmations and manifesting.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Affirmations aren't necessarily supposed to feel true for you, right?
- 2:30Speaker 1: And there's a lot of information out there about manifesting and affirmations.
- 2:33Speaker 1: But here's my super quick hot take.
- 2:37Speaker 1: If you have a phrase, an affirmation that you wish were true, but it doesn't feel true, that's okay.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Say it, say it a lot, because the goal is to turn it into a belief.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Right?
- 2:57Speaker 1: What is a belief?
- 2:58Speaker 1: It's a thought that has been thought a lot.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So I'm going to read you today's affirmation out of my Louise Hay calendar that comes from Hay House Publishing for Monday, august 29th.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Ooh, there's a hot tip about which day I'm actually recording this versus which day you're listening to it A little behind the scenes action there.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Okay, so today's affirmation is there is so much love in my heart and it is wonderful to share it with my family and friends.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Now, does that resonate with you today?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Are you like whoo, I'm getting divorced and there is so much love in my heart?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Maybe not right, like, maybe that one doesn't resonate with you today, but guess what?
- 3:41Speaker 1: If you want it to resonate with you, then that is the kind of thought to grab hold of and to say it often, because the goal is to kind of tune ourselves to the future we want, versus being super tuned in to the pain of your past or your present right.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So I am a big fan of mirror messages.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And if you've done my 21 day guided journaling program that is free on my website.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You know I'm a big fan of mirror messages.
- 4:11Speaker 1: There is one on my mirror right now.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You already know what it is.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It says, in hot pink everything is always working out for me, and that is the affirmation that I wanted to become true in my life, and I have been saying it now for a couple of weeks, and it feels very true to me right now that everything is really working out for me.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Now, don't get me wrong, there are moments that I'm like oh, there is a pocket of doubt going on inside of me, right?
- 4:39Speaker 1: I woke up with some kind of distressing dreams last night.
- 4:43Speaker 1: There's kind of a thing, a problem, that my brain is trying to chew on, and I'm like, hey, brain, come over here.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I don't want to chew on that problem, right?
- 4:51Speaker 1: I want to stay focused on manifesting a future reality that is different from my current reality.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so manifestation is about not being so in tune with with the problems of the present, but by tuning ourselves to the future reality we want, and that means sometimes using affirmations that don't resonate, and that's okay, because if you're using affirmations that already resonate, see, now I'm coaching myself, right, this moment.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Thank you, loves, for being here and holding space for me, because it's time for me to have a new affirmation, right, because this one is already feeling resonant, so now I need to keep going further.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It's time for me to look for inspiration for my next one, right?
- 5:38Speaker 1: So I love this Hay House calendar that sits on my desk.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It was a gift from a dear friend of mine.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I got it for Christmas this last year and I have used it and it's been a game changer, and you know, I've taken the ones that I really wanted, desperately to be true, and I've pinned them to my desk where I look every day.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So a tool like this is a great hack, right?
- 6:01Speaker 1: A daily calendar with an affirmation on it, because there's some that you're going to be like oh, mastered that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And then there are going to's some that you're going to be like, oh, mastered that.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And then there are going to be some that you're like, gosh, if only you know.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And those ones where you're like, if only, yes, they're drawing you forward, right?
- 6:13Speaker 1: So then I like to keep those and I like to make them part of my visual space as a reminder that that's the direction I'm moving in.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So here's my hot tip about changing your current reality in exchange for your future reality that I promise you is out there.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Just step towards it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Love Talk soon.
