- 0:00Alright, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another edition
- 0:03of the Take to Pod with Mum and Dad.
- 0:06I'm Dad. And I'm mom.
- 0:09The kids are asleep and nestled in their comfy little beds.
- 0:13They've been asleep for awhile. Honestly, we're we're, we're
- 0:16recording this one pretty late. That's all right.
- 0:18The later, the scarier. It was a pretty good night.
- 0:22Little man was at grandma's tonight so it's just me and the
- 0:25little lady who had a girls night.
- 0:27Yeah, I dropped him off there cause I had a few things I had
- 0:30to take care of. So we had a blast and Grandma
- 0:33had a blast too, so it's always nice to be able to do that.
- 0:37Thank God we have your mom nearby because she she really
- 0:40takes a lot of the toddler load off of our plates.
- 0:43Like sometimes it's just it's nice to have that extra and I
- 0:46know a lot of people don't have that luxury, so we're very
- 0:48lucky. Yeah, sometimes on weekends we
- 0:50just drop them there for a couple hours.
- 0:52It really it makes everything a lot easier.
- 0:54Yeah, for sure. Well, anyways, not a big drama
- 0:59night. Pretty drama free with the kids.
- 1:02So yeah. So let's get on with the show,
- 1:04ladies and gentlemen. Normal Mom, it's not the house
- 1:12that's haunted, it's your son. This week, we're talking.
- 1:18About Insidious. Very Very spooky This Week
- 1:23released in 2010, directed by James Wan, written by Lee Wenell
- 1:29and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins.
- 1:34Don't forget Lynn Shea, she's a huge part of this.
- 1:37Series amazing. Yeah, yeah, the overall series
- 1:41is is really revolves around her in the later movies.
- 1:43She's fucking legend in this movie.
- 1:46So yeah, like you said, Ty Simpkins plays Dalton.
- 1:49He plays the young boy James Wan and Leonel tag team.
- 1:54Um, those guys are known for their horror movies and
- 1:58honestly, they're legends now in the horror genre.
- 2:01And they're really like peanut butter and Jelly and the horror
- 2:03scene, they go really well together.
- 2:06I agree. So the synopsis of Insidious.
- 2:11The story centres on a married couple whose boy mysteriously
- 2:14enters a comatose state and becomes a vessel for a variety
- 2:18of demonic entities in an astral plane.
- 2:22Yo. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo
- 2:26Doo Doo. That's lost.
- 2:28That's the lost theme. But it goes well because it's
- 2:31this movie is freaking scary and honestly, this is a fucking
- 2:36legendary movie. I'm not even gonna like this.
- 2:39It's so good. Box office $1.5 million budget
- 2:44and it made $100 million in the box office, so it's fucking like
- 2:49it made 100 times its money, which is crazy.
- 2:52It's crazy how low budget it is considering it has really big
- 2:55actors in it. Well, they, if you think about
- 2:58it, it's, you know, it's set in homes mainly.
- 3:01There's no real other shots. There's only one other scene
- 3:05outside where it's like a hospital, but it's just a
- 3:07hallway. And then there's a scene in the
- 3:10school in the classroom. So that's pretty low.
- 3:12Budget and in the further they pretty much only use practical
- 3:15effects. There's not very much CGI
- 3:17involved. Yeah, it's it's really well
- 3:20done. Like they they have this like
- 3:22this is Blumhouse, right? So they have this now down to a
- 3:25formula, low budget movie, high return, low budget movie, high
- 3:29return. And we're going to get into that
- 3:32in a little bit. But when and where did you watch
- 3:34this Mom first time? So it's funny, when dad and I
- 3:40first started dating, we talked about whether or not we liked
- 3:44horror movies. And I said that yes, I I do like
- 3:47horror movies. But honestly, since being with
- 3:49you, my love for horror movies has grown.
- 3:52But somewhere in that, like, first or second year that we
- 3:55were together, yeah, we were talking about the scariest
- 3:58movies we had ever seen. Yeah.
- 3:59And I told you the scariest movie I had ever seen at that
- 4:02point was The Conjuring. Oh yeah, you saw it.
- 4:07Yeah, we saw that separately. Yeah, because we were together
- 4:10when that first came out. But I was I had gone camping
- 4:13that year. We left the campsite, we went to
- 4:15see Conjuring, and then we went back to the campsite, and
- 4:17everyone was too scared to sleep.
- 4:19But I said Conjuring, you said the scariest movie you've ever
- 4:22seen was Insidious. That's funny.
- 4:24And I said I've never seen it. And you said there's a scene in
- 4:28this movie that's so scary I can't even describe it, where a
- 4:32guy is sitting at a dining room table talking to people.
- 4:35Yeah. And this face shows up behind
- 4:37him. And I can't even describe the
- 4:39face because it's the scariest thing I've ever seen.
- 4:42It's fucking terrifying. The Darth Maul.
- 4:45The Darth Maul demon. Lipstick Demon.
- 4:48And we, we watched it, but The funny thing is we had already
- 4:52seen Insidious 2 together at that point.
- 4:54Yeah, cause we went to the drive in.
- 4:57Which was also terrifying. Which was also terrifying
- 4:59because we had the windows rolled down and it was a summer
- 5:02night that was a little bit cold.
- 5:04Yeah, it was a cooler somewhere, night, end of summer.
- 5:06And no, it wasn't of summer, it was beginning of summer.
- 5:09Yeah, it was early. It was early in the summer.
- 5:12I had like a weird burp sound like reset.
- 5:14No, it's kind of. It was early in the summer.
- 5:18We had the windows down, yeah. And the movie started and was
- 5:21starting getting into. It pitch black at the drive-in.
- 5:23Yeah, and we got so freaked out we had to roll the windows up
- 5:25and lock. The doors, the opening, the
- 5:27opening credits started and it had that iconic violin screaming
- 5:32sound that the violins make. And it said Insidious Chapter 2
- 5:36and you we both looked at each other and were like, let's roll
- 5:40the windows up like it was freezing cold.
- 5:42And the the just the sound of the movie just scared the living
- 5:45crap out of us. So yeah, it was freaky.
- 5:48And in watching this movie this time too, it's it's very, it's
- 5:52very spooky. It really gives you the chills
- 5:54and freaks you out and it it stays with you.
- 5:56If you love horror movies, this movie is fucking amazing.
- 5:59It's phenomenal. This is one of the scariest
- 6:02movies ever. I think so too.
- 6:03It is one of the scariest movies in of all time.
- 6:06Modern day. You take it back like 30-40
- 6:09years, You want to compare it to the classics.
- 6:11It's just so well done. There's it's not perfect, it's a
- 6:15horror movie, but it's so freaking good.
- 6:17It is. So anyway, very Long story
- 6:20short, I had already seen the second one.
- 6:22We talked about the first one. You were like, you have to see
- 6:25it. Yeah.
- 6:25So we watched it and it was so freaky and I was freaked out.
- 6:29And then ever since then, it's just always been like on our
- 6:33list of movies to watch if we want to really be freaked out,
- 6:36and we've watched it many times. Together we need a good scare or
- 6:39if we have a guest that comes and visits and we want to watch
- 6:42a wicked movie in the basement to take advantage of the sound
- 6:46and the the big screen or like, oh, have you seen Insidious?
- 6:49And if they say no or if they seen if you seen Conjuring
- 6:52because they go hand in hand. So conjuring episode is
- 6:56definitely gonna happen. Don't worry, actor James Want.
- 6:58But if they said no to any one of those, we're like, we're
- 7:02watching it and it's never a disappointment.
- 7:06It's always scaring everyone. But what's your first time, Dad?
- 7:10So my first time watching Insidious, I was alone in my
- 7:15bedroom and it's the middle of the afternoon and I was on my
- 7:19bed and I had it on a laptop. So I had it with a laptop, like
- 7:23maybe a 15 inch laptop and some really good headphones and I'm
- 7:28just sitting in my bed watching it like I think I had a snack or
- 7:31something. It was daylight but I scared the
- 7:35shit out of myself. I was scared out of my mind.
- 7:39Because this movie doesn't mess. Around does not mess around you.
- 7:42If you put headphones on and you listening to it, like watching
- 7:46it on a small screen, you could be on an airplane watching this
- 7:50movie with headphones. It's still gonna freak you out.
- 7:54That would be freaky actually watching it on airplane.
- 7:56The the one scene in particular that you mentioned that I was
- 7:59telling you about, like I couldn't describe that scene,
- 8:02watching it by myself on a laptop for the first time.
- 8:05I think I threw my laptop across the room like I jumped.
- 8:09What's wrong with you? Why would you watch this by
- 8:11yourself? Because it's just torture
- 8:13gangster like that man, It's so good.
- 8:17It's so. You can't watch any horror movie
- 8:20alone, you have to watch it with.
- 8:21Someone I've watched some horror movies alone.
- 8:23Even the ones that aren't scary, you watch them alone and they
- 8:26they spook you out a little bit. But.
- 8:28Yeah, watching a horror movie alone is like raw dogging a
- 8:32flight without headphones. You just staring at the the seat
- 8:35in front of you. It's it's that level.
- 8:40But it's terrible comparison. So one night you weren't here
- 8:44but you were on a girls trip. I I never told you this.
- 8:48I was here by myself and I watched Insidious by myself in
- 8:53the basement. Before we had kids.
- 8:55Before we had kids. Get fucked.
- 8:57Yeah, I was terrified, but I was like Chip, I was Chip committed.
- 9:03I'm like, listen, I never told you this because I didn't want
- 9:08to scare you, but I got up to leave the basement.
- 9:11So I go up the stairs and the movies done.
- 9:14And you heard the crackling sound.
- 9:16No, no, no, worse. It's like 3 in the morning or
- 9:18two in the morning or something. The movie is done.
- 9:20So I turn to my right and you know, our back window with the
- 9:23living room, the curtain was a little bit open and you can see
- 9:27the bottom of the window. And my mind put the the the long
- 9:32haired demon face guy, the one that's hanging outside Rose
- 9:38Byrne's room. And I was like why the fuck did
- 9:41I just do this myself? So calls the police #1 yes, it
- 9:46was too serious with myself. I think there's a fucking long
- 9:49haired demon fiend outside my room.
- 9:52No, seriously, I I went up, I turned the lights off, I went
- 9:55upstairs, I tried to like get it out of my mind and I fucking
- 9:59went and laid down. I don't know what I was
- 10:01thinking. Why did?
- 10:02That that's But I can't believe you like choosing that movie to
- 10:06watch by yourself. Sometimes you just want to shoot
- 10:08yourself, you know, like you know, laxatives required.
- 10:11Just put insidious, put conjuring by yourself.
- 10:14Question says or conjuring by myself, and I never will.
- 10:17The scariest movie I ever watched by myself was Sinister.
- 10:19Thug life. You gotta live the thug life
- 10:21sometimes. No, dude.
- 10:23So why do you love or hate this movie?
- 10:29I mean, we've kind of already said this.
- 10:30We both love this movie because it's so scary and we we love it.
- 10:34We really love a good a good horror movie.
- 10:36Yeah. So I just, I like it that it's
- 10:38scary and I like that it's still can scare the shit out of.
- 10:42Me it's 16 year is 16 years old now and.
- 10:45I've seen it at least 10. Times.
- 10:47And it's still terrifying. And we watched it and it was
- 10:50still really scary. Jump scares still gets you.
- 10:55Everything about this movie is terrifying, and one of my
- 10:57favorite things about this is that it put a halt to the
- 11:01torture porn era. It just stopped it in its
- 11:04tracks. I have something about that.
- 11:05Cultural impact like which is oddly enough started by James
- 11:08Wan and Leonel, which sought with saw, you know, like aside
- 11:12from hostile they they started Saw and they're like the first
- 11:15saw movie was a masterpiece. And that was almost, I think the
- 11:19budget for that was like half a million and it made so much and
- 11:22they made like 11. What I'm saying like these guys
- 11:25are, these guys are real talent. The the scares of this Insidious
- 11:28still are rock solid. It's unsettling like the whole
- 11:33movie from the opening credits. It's so eerie and unsettling.
- 11:38Yeah, I remember one time we watched it, I think it was
- 11:40Halloween, and we we hadn't watched it in years.
- 11:43So we put it on and just the opening scene where it zooms
- 11:47into the the mirror in the bathroom, we both looked at each
- 11:50other like, Nope, Nope. I think we turned it off.
- 11:53I think we were just like, now I think so we're like, let's try
- 11:56this tomorrow. Like we were fucking not
- 11:58happening. It was not.
- 11:58Happening, yeah. You have to wanna be terrified,
- 12:01yeah. Just for some reason, it was
- 12:03ultra scary that night. But yeah, we I love this movie.
- 12:08It's I would put a poster in the basement, but I'm I'm afraid
- 12:11that the red faced demon is going to come be.
- 12:14Like, yeah, we don't, we don't want to invite that shit in.
- 12:17So let's so let's get into the segments.
- 12:19So do you want to go first for cringiest moments?
- 12:23Yeah, it's, you know, it's a horror movie.
- 12:26It's pretty clean in terms of clinginess.
- 12:29Yeah, there's not a lot of Prince.
- 12:30Had a hard time. The only one honestly, is the
- 12:33CGI shot of the lipstick demon climbing the walls in the third
- 12:37act. Kind of takes you out of the
- 12:38movie for a minute. Also, like, it's super
- 12:41unnecessary. I don't know why they kept it in
- 12:44because the CGI is really bad. He's like climbing the side of
- 12:47the wall in the bedroom. Yeah, like why is that there?
- 12:50Like it's the practical effects of the demon, like in the
- 12:52costume is fucking really good. Why is there a easy eye?
- 12:56Version, yeah. Especially if you're budgets
- 12:58low. It's it's adding some urgency of
- 13:01Dalton getting back to his body, which is why they did that.
- 13:03Sure, cause like there had to be like something like preventing
- 13:07him from getting back to his body.
- 13:08But it was. It was weird and it was
- 13:10unnecessary. Yeah, that's the only thing I
- 13:12would like honestly, if if they redid this as a director's cut
- 13:15or something. I mean I know James Wan has a
- 13:17lot of control over his movies but that I would redo with new
- 13:21CGI or I would just remove it. Yeah, so lot.
- 13:25So for me, the cringiest moment is actually the demon nail
- 13:28filing. It feels very cartoonish that
- 13:33this terrifying demon is sitting up in his little sewing room
- 13:37filing his nails. It's freaky though.
- 13:39He's like, you weigh right here, little boy.
- 13:41I'm gonna go get my nails done like this.
- 13:43This movie turns into RuPaul's Drag Race for a minute.
- 13:46This fucking. Darth Maul's drag race.
- 13:48Drag Race, Yeah, it doesn't really make sense that he's.
- 13:52Do you understand why I'm calling it Darth Maul?
- 13:54Yeah, because his face is. Like, yeah, he looks like Darth
- 13:56Maul. He does.
- 13:57He does look. Like episode 1 The Phantom
- 13:58Menace. He does look like Darth Maul.
- 14:00Underrated. Star Wars movie in addition to
- 14:04that, I'm not going to call it cringy, but sure, Specs and
- 14:08Tucker are a little bit. Corny.
- 14:13Yeah, it's awesome. The first half of the half of
- 14:15this movie is, like, very scary and suspenseful.
- 14:18And then Specs and Tucker show up, and I thought they were
- 14:22trying to, like, add some Comic Relief to relieve some of the
- 14:26intense tension with them bickering while they're
- 14:29investigating the haunting. But it clashes with the rest of
- 14:32the film. At least being warm and friendly
- 14:34works well because she's like a light in the darkness.
- 14:38Yeah, but the two of them coming in, bickering and fumbling
- 14:41around, it just makes them seem unprofessional and makes them
- 14:43seem like they don't know what they're doing.
- 14:45I don't think so. As if you were.
- 14:46I lose confidence in them. I'm like, do these dumb asses
- 14:49know what they're? Doing well.
- 14:50The thing is, it's ghost hunting.
- 14:51There's no like instruction manual for it.
- 14:54I liked it. I thought it brought a little
- 14:56bit of levity, but you know what?
- 14:58It didn't Take Me Out of the movie.
- 14:59I've watched it dozens and dozens of.
- 15:01Times it doesn't. I forget they're there.
- 15:03I forget they're in it. The clashes with the tone of the
- 15:06movie a little bit. I guess, but the tone kind of
- 15:09changes near the end. It does.
- 15:10The second-half of this movie is very.
- 15:12Every time they appear I'm like, Oh yeah, these guys are in it
- 15:14and I'm pleasantly like I'm happy cause it's actually just
- 15:18like an entertaining part of the movie.
- 15:19Yeah, I don't just like them, but it's a, it is interesting,
- 15:23OK. You won't like what I have to
- 15:25say later, but anyways, no I. No, I like them.
- 15:27I'm just saying like I I don't think it necessarily is cringy,
- 15:30but it's it's a tone change. That's the kind of jarring.
- 15:33Yeah, there's. No real comedy up until that in
- 15:35the movie. It's pretty.
- 15:37It's pretty straightforward. It does.
- 15:38Need some relief at that point though, because like, well.
- 15:41The thing is getting. Fucked up movies.
- 15:43Like it's full tension the whole time.
- 15:45It's just like. My kids in a coma and there our
- 15:47lives are miserable. It sucks, OK?
- 15:49What's the most iconic scene? What do you got?
- 15:53So I like when Elise explains it's not the house that's
- 15:57haunted. It's your son.
- 15:59Your. Son isn't in Acoma.
- 16:01Falling off the ladder had nothing to do with this.
- 16:04His physical body is here, but his spiritual body is not.
- 16:09And the reason these disturbances, they followed you
- 16:12to a new home is because it's not the house that's haunted.
- 16:20It's your. Son.
- 16:23Yeah, like gives. You chills?
- 16:26Yeah. That whole section of that movie
- 16:28is great, yeah. She's like, she comes in, she
- 16:31comes and speaks to Dalton. She looks at the roof like he's
- 16:34got. Oh yeah, we're describing it in
- 16:37the ceiling. Oh fuck, that's scary.
- 16:42OK, it's freaking me out. It's.
- 16:44Freaky when she looks up in the corner and just that whole scene
- 16:48because finally someone is telling them what's wrong with
- 16:50their son. They've been, they've seen a
- 16:52bunch of doctors, bunch of nurses.
- 16:53Nobody can explain. Yeah, Elise is like he's astral
- 16:57projecting. I mean, as as a parent, I'd be
- 17:00like, shut the fuck up and get out of my house.
- 17:02But yeah, in as a viewer of the movie, I'm like, finally
- 17:05somebody I don't know. Man, like there's some stuff
- 17:07that happens in this movie and you're just like, oh, what would
- 17:10you do as a parent? But anyway, for me, the most
- 17:14iconic scene, it was a tough, tough pick because there's so
- 17:18many good scenes in this movie that stick to your brain.
- 17:21Like the one where the the demon guys standing behind Patrick
- 17:25Wilson. Like that's I'm.
- 17:27Literally getting chills just talking about it.
- 17:29There's a little crackling sound every time that he's near um,
- 17:34and then it cuts to Patrick Wilson.
- 17:35He's there. But my most iconic for me is
- 17:40tiptoe. Through the tulips.
- 17:48That fucking whole scene is very unsettling.
- 18:00When Renee is walking through the house, yeah.
- 18:02Because they just moved. They're like, OK, we're cool,
- 18:07let's move on. We don't know what's gonna
- 18:08happen. We escaped.
- 18:09This haunted house she's walking?
- 18:11Through the house. It's a steady Cam shot and James
- 18:14Wan is a master at doing this and a lot of new directors are
- 18:17doing this with the their horror movies.
- 18:19There's a wide, not a wide shot, but there's a lot of open doors
- 18:23and windows in the background for the audience to like look,
- 18:27you're hunting as an audience member.
- 18:30You're watching and it's not just the the actor, you're
- 18:32you're seeing the actor, but you seen three open doors and you're
- 18:35seeing a window, you're seeing a picture.
- 18:37So you're looking, you're hunting for stuff and then and.
- 18:40If you watch carefully, you see. A fucking little boy in a cheese
- 18:44cutter hat in the corner facing the wall like Blair Witch style.
- 18:48And you're like, not. Moving you're like.
- 18:50And then that's exactly the sound I made.
- 18:53And then it keeps walking. She keeps walking.
- 18:56She goes on to throw the trash. One of her songs is playing like
- 18:59on a record, I think. And then as she's throwing the
- 19:02trash out, the like the cameras following her out the window and
- 19:06you hear the record scratch and then tiptoe through the tulips
- 19:09plays and she's like, what the fuck?
- 19:11And then it cuts like to the record player and you see this
- 19:15same boy, he's fucking dancing. He's tap dancing in front of it.
- 19:35Perfect. And she sees them through.
- 19:39The window she's like what the fuck is that?
- 19:41That whole. Sequence to me is the most
- 19:44iconic because that song is ruined.
- 19:47That was a cute little song for kids and now it's destroyed for
- 19:52a whole generation. Nobody's playing that anywhere.
- 19:55If you hear that song in your home, you're fucking running 1.
- 19:59Time. Yes, I was working from home.
- 20:02Yeah, you tell the story and I. Was pregnant.
- 20:05Thank you very much, Dick. And I am upstairs.
- 20:09My office was upstairs and I hear that song blasting in the
- 20:14house and I walk into the upstairs hallway and I'm like,
- 20:19somebody, somebody's broken in, somebody's broken in.
- 20:22And they turned on the Alexa for some reason, and they realized
- 20:25it was that fucking song. Oh yeah.
- 20:27And I just hear tip toe through the window.
- 20:32So I lean over the banister and I go Alexa stop and then it
- 20:38fucking turns on again and I knew it was dad pranking me so.
- 20:44Yeah, I I scared the living shit out of you.
- 20:46I tried to anyway, I was at work and I'm like, you could control
- 20:50Alexa from your phone. So if you want to do a prank on
- 20:53your partner, this, just listen up.
- 20:54You can control Alexa from your phone.
- 20:56And what I did was I played on Spotify, played that song and
- 21:02had it played through the Alexa, and then you turned the.
- 21:05Alexa up to fucking like 9. I turned.
- 21:07It up all the way to 10 and I had the we have a little
- 21:13security camera and I was watching and I could hear the
- 21:16music playing and then I heard you shout from upstairs and then
- 21:20I played it again and then you called me because I.
- 21:22Realized it was you after I was freaked.
- 21:25Out it was daylight and also you were home alone.
- 21:27You didn't mention that. Like that's scary, bro.
- 21:30Yeah. Fuck you.
- 21:31I was home by myself, working from home, and then I heard that
- 21:34shit blasting and I was like, what?
- 21:37Hey, I don't know, I just got the idea.
- 21:39I'm like, yo, we gotta, we gotta scare you don't.
- 21:41Fucking do that. Alright, alright.
- 21:44But yeah, that's my favorite. That's my most iconic moment in
- 21:47that movie. That's.
- 21:48Yeah, that was almost, that was almost my pick.
- 21:50But I really like Elise and like her supernatural gift, so I
- 21:53wanted to talk about her. OK, we got quotes.
- 21:56Yeah, so I have Josh Lambert seeing the picture of the bride
- 22:00and he says who is she? And Elise says a parasite.
- 22:04She befriended your astral body and lured you into the further,
- 22:08just as Dalton has been. I'm getting chills just hearing
- 22:12those. Mel was a sick fuck if you wrote
- 22:15the screenplay. He did write the screenplay for
- 22:17this. Yeah, he.
- 22:18Did He's really smart. I got Lorraine here.
- 22:21I came today because last night. This is a Patrick, Patrick
- 22:25Wilson's mom. I came today because last night
- 22:28I had a dream about this place. I was in this house, but it was
- 22:32late at night. I was afraid.
- 22:34I went into your bedroom, but you were both asleep.
- 22:38I knew I was asleep in the dream, but I could feel that
- 22:41someone was awake in the house doing a fucking finish this
- 22:46loose. Stop.
- 22:47Yeah, I know. I went to Dalton's room and
- 22:49there was something there with him.
- 22:56It was standing there in the corner.
- 23:03I asked it who are you? And it said it was a visitor.
- 23:11I said what do you want? It said Dalton.
- 23:22I can still hear that voice. It's fucking.
- 23:25Terrible points to him with it's like long ass claws.
- 23:28God, yeah, that had just. Been sharpening OHS.
- 23:30Yeah, well, I don't know where you got the belt Sander.
- 23:34Like where did you get that? That's what that's.
- 23:35Why it's got that? In the further is he's.
- 23:37Like the Grinch in that scene, he's like up on Mount Crumpets,
- 23:40Crumpets sharpening his claws. What else you got?
- 23:44This is the first line of a joke, right?
- 23:46A guy comes home to find his wife with a priest.
- 23:48Yeah. That's that.
- 23:49See that Patrick Wilson in this, He was really good.
- 23:52Also Patrick screamed Daddy, will you wanna call him scream
- 23:57King? The guy is fucking in two of the
- 23:58biggest franchises in horror. You know, like I hope he got
- 24:03like I hope he got residuals on these movies, man, because he's
- 24:07the fucking like what do you scream King?
- 24:09He can you not call? Him a scream daddy?
- 24:11That's really fucking weird. I don't know, just kidding that
- 24:15any. Scream King.
- 24:17Not quick, not kinky enough. Scream Daddy.
- 24:23Um, OK, I got the voice on the baby monitor.
- 24:44What get I want it. Oh my God, that's if I heard
- 25:01that shit on our baby monitor. I would kill myself.
- 25:05I would just. Throw everything in the garbage.
- 25:07Guy would kill. He's burning the house down.
- 25:09Never put our. Baby in that room again after
- 25:11everything. Down and start over.
- 25:13I'd be like. She's not going.
- 25:14She puts her baby back in that room.
- 25:16After that, there's a lot of. Things that this movie like I'm
- 25:19anyway, I'll talk about it shortly, but like there's some
- 25:22things I nitpicks I have for the movie, but go ahead.
- 25:25What's your next quote you? May be a superhero buddy, but
- 25:28you're not invincible. What's after Dalton falls
- 25:30because he likes to wear his little superhero Cape?
- 25:32Yeah. That's really cute.
- 25:34Yeah, I have Tucker and specs a pictures worth 1000 words.
- 25:39Words are worth 1000 words too. When they're they're arguing
- 25:42about making a book about like their their goes hunting.
- 25:46I think it's pretty funny. Yeah.
- 25:48Now you're outside, Let my voice be your guide.
- 25:51Keep a steady stride into the further you go.
- 25:56It's not the house that's haunted.
- 25:58It's your son. Fucking so sick.
- 26:00Because in every movie you're always telling us like, you're
- 26:03the audience, like, just fucking leave the house, right?
- 26:06Like in Poltergeist, like, just move out.
- 26:09Just leave the house. And they did.
- 26:10They did. And it came out good deeds.
- 26:13Fucking scary, man. It's really, really unsettling.
- 26:17But yeah, it doesn't have a lot of quotes, but you know, some of
- 26:21them are are pretty, pretty bomb, Yeah.
- 26:23It's not necessarily like that quotable of a movie.
- 26:26It's more so the story that takes you just on this emotional
- 26:30ride. Yeah, so classic or cancelled
- 26:34dad this. Movie, like I said, it ruined a
- 26:37whimsical, innocent song for a whole group of people.
- 26:41The Tiny Tim song yeah. So that is I mean, it's not
- 26:46cancelled, but it's it's a classic and this movie is
- 26:49compared to a lot of other classics like Poltergeist from
- 26:521982. Oh, can.
- 26:54I jump in because I was also my sure classic or cancelled.
- 26:57So like Dad said, this movie is a landmark of modern horror and
- 27:00was able to cause dread and fear viewers, which makes it a
- 27:03beloved classic still. Does.
- 27:06But there are a lot of people that call it a RIP off of
- 27:08Poltergeist because the similarities are uncanny.
- 27:12Both feature a young child being targeted by evil spirits leading
- 27:18to a coma like state, and both utilize A psychic medium to help
- 27:22the parents navigate the spiritual realm.
- 27:24But that's. Like saying, OK, Jason and
- 27:26Freddy Krueger and like, Michael Myers are all ripped off of each
- 27:29other, Yeah. Actually, they're wildly
- 27:32different here's, especially in the way that they're in the
- 27:35spiritual round, like the little girls in the TV.
- 27:37That's all we see of it. Daltons in the further and then
- 27:39we see the further the poltergeist doesn't do anything.
- 27:42Like, here's the thing with. Horror movies, and a lot of
- 27:44people like horror movies, don't get the respect that they
- 27:47deserve, but they're getting more and more respect now, like
- 27:50they're nominated for Oscars and stuff like that, getting more
- 27:53recognition. There are no original movies
- 27:55anymore, OK? Everything is.
- 27:58It's an intellectual, It's a intellectual property.
- 28:01It's an IP of something. It's a remake.
- 28:04It's a it's a comic. Book.
- 28:05It's a comic. Book it's a remake of a frigging
- 28:07remake of a superhero movie that happened 10 years ago horror
- 28:10movies relatively like they're pretty original they're.
- 28:15Almost always in original, unique story this year alone.
- 28:19This past year we had so many good horror movies that were
- 28:23super original, like Weapons. Weapons is so.
- 28:26Original. It's so.
- 28:27Good. So original.
- 28:29It's scary. Like we were vibrating in the
- 28:32theatre. Watched it in the seats.
- 28:34I was terrified. Yeah.
- 28:36We'll have to do a pot on that cause that hits really hard as a
- 28:39parent. Barbarian.
- 28:41Same director. Barbarian.
- 28:43Oh, I was terrified. Yeah.
- 28:45Barbarians really scared of your.
- 28:46Own basement well, that's. What I'm saying like it's going
- 28:49to get. Air B Unique.
- 28:50They really do take unique ideas and it's, I think probably the
- 28:55most creative people. That's what I'm saying.
- 28:57It's. The only original genre
- 28:59remaining. Everything else is adaptation or
- 29:02like a remake. Well, that's.
- 29:04Not true. We do have people like Quentin
- 29:06Tarantino is one who try new things and are very creative.
- 29:09No, but. Quentin Tarantino releases one
- 29:11movie every like 10 years almost.
- 29:13Yeah. You know, Christopher Nolan does
- 29:15a movie every four or five years, his or mostly all
- 29:18original. But, you know, everything else
- 29:21is just a rehash or remake. Like Devils Wear Prada 2 just
- 29:25came out after 25 years. Like, that's not.
- 29:28First of all, it's. Devil wears Prada, not Devils
- 29:30wear Prada. And.
- 29:33That was highly anticipated because that will do our.
- 29:35Product, if you think about it, that was.
- 29:37Highly anticipated for 20. Two years it's come on strong
- 29:40is. Not really a thing anymore
- 29:41though. Nobody wears Prada anymore, I
- 29:43mean. People wear it.
- 29:44It's really expensive, but anyway, I'm just this movie is a
- 29:48classic. It brought back the haunted
- 29:50house movie. It brought back true horror, and
- 29:53it led to so many other good horror Movies Now, like
- 29:58everything like James Wan, he did Conjuring after this.
- 30:02There's so many Insidious Movies Now.
- 30:04There's so many other horror movies.
- 30:06Lights out, very similar style. Not James Wan, but fucking
- 30:10terrifying nonetheless. Yeah, Lights.
- 30:12Out was scary but insidious. Still, Insidious and Conjuring
- 30:16still for me are the like top, top tier, scariest horror movies
- 30:22I have ever seen. And Mike?
- 30:24Flanagan, Haunting of Hill House, he brought that horror
- 30:27into a show. Mike Flanagan also did Oculus.
- 30:31He did a bunch of stuff like this movie is a classic.
- 30:34It's iconic. It's the anchor that flipped the
- 30:37switch and said, OK, we're going back to real scary shit now.
- 30:40Enough with this, enough with this fucking torture porn.
- 30:43Hostile 123 Just watching somebody get his leg cut off and
- 30:48then you know. Yeah, it was hard for me to come
- 30:51up with anything for Classic or cancelled because it's very
- 30:53unproblematic as well. Like there's not, there's not a
- 30:56lot in this movie that you can that you can, you know, sneeze
- 30:59at. It's it's a classic.
- 31:00It's very well. Yeah, it's.
- 31:01Alzheimer and there's like how many how many are there now?
- 31:04There's insidious 1234, the the scale, the last key and then.
- 31:10Five the red, 5 the. Red Door and then 6 is coming
- 31:12out this this summer, this September into the further off.
- 31:19Finally. It took 6 movies for them to go
- 31:22into the further because that's a big point of this podcast that
- 31:25I I love about this this movie. It's a whole different world
- 31:29that they kind of like, they just touch on.
- 31:32And of course. Something so unique.
- 31:33This the first movie I ever heard about astral projecting
- 31:36with. This is the first movie I've
- 31:37ever seen. First movie.
- 31:38That lets you see what is going on.
- 31:41Letting it be a mystery and it it was, it was a a brilliant
- 31:44choice. Yeah, I agree.
- 31:46OK. So let's move on to party like
- 31:48it's 2026, OK? Go ahead.
- 31:50So. I think if if this movie came
- 31:53out this year, we would see less of the demon, it would just be
- 31:57little glimpses of him because that always makes it more scary.
- 32:01And horror movies, they show him a little bit too much.
- 32:04It's still very scary, yeah. But that demon by the end of the
- 32:07movie does lose a little bit of his his prestige because you you
- 32:12see him so much less is. More sometimes, yeah, he's a lot
- 32:14of times He he's. Not as scary by the end.
- 32:17And I think we would see more diversity in the cast.
- 32:20This is a very white movie and I was very common in the in the 20
- 32:23tens, in the early 20 tens. I think there would probably be
- 32:27at least a black character or an Asian character of some kind, at
- 32:31least one if it came out this year.
- 32:34And the movie is not that old. So the changes would be minor,
- 32:39like it's only 16 years old. So like, technology is not
- 32:42really gonna be that different. The family atmosphere and
- 32:46orientation is not gonna be that different.
- 32:47Yeah, you could make this movie today and it would be fairly
- 32:50similar. I think it would be.
- 32:51There would be a few differences.
- 32:52I think Tucker and Specs would be like influencers.
- 32:56They would have like a live stream channel of their ghost
- 32:58hunting Oh. Yeah, probably and.
- 33:01They they would have followers and stuff like that.
- 33:03Also if this was made in 2026 I agree with you.
- 33:06There's a lot of things that would stay the same, but this
- 33:09movie would be way more depressing if it was made in
- 33:132026, which I don't like because one thing I didn't mention is
- 33:18when movies got more scary. There's this trend now of
- 33:22psychological trauma, horror, and it works like Babadook, I
- 33:28think was like the first major one.
- 33:30I can't even watch Babadook again because it's so
- 33:32depressing. So Babadook.
- 33:34Hereditary. What's that, Midsummer?
- 33:38These are movies that are really scary and creepy, but they're
- 33:42fucking depressing. Yeah, they're so sad.
- 33:46Like they scare the shit out of you.
- 33:48Hereditary is terrifying. I don't.
- 33:50Wanna watch it again because I don't want to see somebody
- 33:52scream crying on their floor because their child died.
- 33:55It's really depressing, and that's what a lot of movies have
- 33:58delved into. They get way too wrapped up into
- 34:01this psychological thing to, I guess, to get into the grief of
- 34:05the character and try to give us like more stakes with the
- 34:09characters. But what I appreciate about
- 34:11Insidious is that it rides a really fine line between old
- 34:15school classic horror where you don't really know the characters
- 34:18or care about them, and making us feel really bad for the
- 34:22family you don't. Want you don't want to kill
- 34:24yourself because Dalton's in a company.
- 34:26It's sad, but it's not like I'm I wanna die because it's like.
- 34:29In in paranormal, I didn't give a shit about these people.
- 34:32Like they're just two idiots that live in this house.
- 34:35Get the fuck out of the house. What paranormal activity?
- 34:38Like it's a horror movie, right? And I'm just comparing like we
- 34:41didn't really care about the character that one gets.
- 34:43Depressing by then too. No, I know.
- 34:45But the whole movie you don't really care, you just wanna see
- 34:48what's going on. You're waiting for them to go to
- 34:50sleep, right? So you can get scared, OK, in
- 34:52this movie, within the 1st 5 minutes, you, you like, you care
- 34:58about the, the mom, the dad, the kids, the little baby, like you
- 35:03care about these people. You know, she's sitting with her
- 35:05son going through a photo album. Everybody can relate to that.
- 35:08Even if you don't have kids, you've everybody's looked at a
- 35:11photo album with their family. Everybody's moved.
- 35:13Moving is very stressful. Like I was watching them and
- 35:16then they moved a second time and I was like, fuck that.
- 35:19I was like, like really? Literally.
- 35:21Rather die so. I think James wants a master
- 35:24class because in this movie and in Conjuring, you really care
- 35:28about the characters. Yeah, and it doesn't get so
- 35:31depressed and it's. Not fucking you don't need Xanax
- 35:34or fucking Zoloft after cause it's so depressing Yeah that's.
- 35:38That's a good point. And, and you're right about
- 35:40that. Um, so if I was going to recast
- 35:43this movie, yeah, I have a couple of cool ideas, I think.
- 35:48OK. So for Josh the dad, I want Adam
- 35:53Driver. OK.
- 35:54I think he has like Patrick. Wilson, Yeah.
- 35:57I think he has a similar distant father vibe that Patrick Wilson
- 36:03brings to the to the role, but he's also unlikable because you
- 36:09can't be a beloved actor in this role because the character is
- 36:12very unlikable either. Adam Driver is unlikable highly.
- 36:16Yeah, I think he's off putting. Yeah, I mean, I thought about it
- 36:21and I was like, it's really hard to cast a horror movie like this
- 36:26because Patrick Wilson gives dad vibes.
- 36:29Like they look like a real couple in bed.
- 36:31There's a lot. Of people they know, but.
- 36:33They they chemistry they have between him and Rose Byrne.
- 36:36Like they were in the bed. He was, he was joking about like
- 36:39writing all your songs. Write a song about me.
- 36:42And she's like, aren't they all about they're all?
- 36:45About you, yeah. You know, like, it's just very,
- 36:48very nice and very realistic. I don't know who could be cast,
- 36:52have that chemistry, but also make you feel like you're not
- 36:57watching 2 superstars in a horror movie.
- 37:01You know what I mean? It's a very, very You got to
- 37:03pick the thing with horror movies, you got to pick actors
- 37:05that are not super famous because they're fame will take
- 37:09you out of it, I don't think. I Adam Drivers too famous for
- 37:12this role. I mean, he was in Star Wars.
- 37:14He's pretty famous, I don't think.
- 37:15He's too famous for the role and I think, I think it fell off.
- 37:18Now a little bit, I think he's quieter and he and.
- 37:21He he did. He played a dad in marriage.
- 37:23He can play a dad. Yeah, and he can.
- 37:26Play an unlikable dad cause he was not like I'm thinking of his
- 37:29character from that movie. OK.
- 37:30Putting him in this movie it it's pretty similar.
- 37:33It's just. It's so hard for me, like maybe
- 37:36because I've seen this movie so many times and Patrick Wilson
- 37:38just like tattooed in my brain. Patrick.
- 37:41Wilson's perfect. But I mean, if if we're
- 37:43recasting, I'm I'm going to put Adam Driver as as the dad and
- 37:47I'm going to put Amelia Clark. Really, Denarius?
- 37:50Targaryen as the mom, the Queen of.
- 37:53Dragons or whatever her name is. Yeah, cause.
- 37:55She's the right age for it now, and she's beautiful and British.
- 37:59I mean, Rose Byrne is Australian, yeah, but I just.
- 38:02I like putting somebody else that's also foreign, but playing
- 38:05an American. Yeah.
- 38:07For Elise I I want Marisa Tomei. Yeah, she has.
- 38:12Old enough. She's. 61, yeah.
- 38:14But Lynn Shea is like, I think she's probably 70, I think.
- 38:18She's in her 60s as well. There's a dummy is just a very
- 38:21beautiful woman, but she has like the warm presence needed
- 38:25for the character while also having good range.
- 38:27Like we've seen Marisa Tomei in dramas and comedies.
- 38:31We've seen her Spiderman. Yeah.
- 38:32We've seen her in Spiderman, we've seen her in My Cousin
- 38:34Vinny. Like she has.
- 38:36She has range. She's really good actor, but
- 38:39she's. Getting older now so she could
- 38:40play roles like this now, yeah. I, I don't know, it's really
- 38:44hard for me. Lynn Shay to me is perfect.
- 38:46You know, it's really we're recasting here.
- 38:50It's tough to recast this one for me.
- 38:52And then I just have two more. I I recast Specs and Tucker as
- 38:55well. Yeah.
- 38:57And this is kind of crazy, but I want Dan Levy.
- 39:00OK as Specs, Eugene Levy said yeah, because he would give the
- 39:04character like, a quirky quality and his comedic timing is off
- 39:08the charts. And then Tucker.
- 39:10I want Bo Burnham. Oh.
- 39:12Really. Because he's.
- 39:13He's big and tall. He's so underrated, but he's
- 39:16like a wonderful talent and I think he needs to be more self.
- 39:19So I just, I would put him in just for that reason, I mean.
- 39:21Yeah, but here's the thing. All these actors take you out of
- 39:24the movie because they're all superstars.
- 39:26Bill Burners. On a superstar, but he.
- 39:28Yeah, he and Dan Levy. 'S not a superstar.
- 39:30Yeah, they're. Very notable, like popular
- 39:33people I want. Their quirky style in the movie,
- 39:36I know. But you might take people out of
- 39:38the horror movie and be like, oh, look who's in this?
- 39:40This is my. Recasting at you, I know it.
- 39:42Is but your budget is blown now you don't have 1.5 million.
- 39:45Do you need like 20 million for all these?
- 39:48Big deal, Levy would do. It would do specs for for a
- 39:50small fee. Do it for a fucking, uh, a
- 39:53coffee cup of coffee, Yeah, For. For a latte and a sandwich,
- 39:56yeah. OK, can you watch this with your
- 39:59parents? Uh, yeah.
- 40:02I wrote yeah, of course. But I mean, if they're fucking
- 40:06watch it, it's. It's fun watching a horror movie
- 40:09with family I've seen. This with my mom and it's
- 40:11terrifying and she's down. But your parents tend to dodge
- 40:15horror movies a lot. They're known for it.
- 40:18Well, they always. Say we don't watch any we want.
- 40:20We don't. Want to define evil?
- 40:21Nothing demonic, no demons, no demons.
- 40:25It's like, OK, yeah, so. They actually haven't seen this,
- 40:28no. But they did watch The Conjuring
- 40:32alright. Save that for The Conjuring
- 40:33episode, OK? Fair enough, Save it for the.
- 40:35Conjuring such a good. Story.
- 40:37Yeah, there's. No sexuality in this movie.
- 40:39And like I said, it's really fun to watch a horror movie as a
- 40:41family. So as long as there's nobody
- 40:43under the age of maybe 16, yeah. Because it is.
- 40:46It is very scary, like it's too scary for little SO.
- 40:49Like I have nieces, one of them's 14, the other one is 11
- 40:54and. I think they're both too young.
- 40:55They. Are because if they watch this,
- 40:57they're never sleeping again by themselves ever once.
- 40:59They're older. We're gonna have them over.
- 41:01We're gonna show this to them. Yeah, I know.
- 41:03That's why I love showing people certain movies, especially
- 41:07horror movies, because you want to see their reaction to the the
- 41:10scares that you used to get or you may still get.
- 41:13Yeah, there's. A few movies we have to show our
- 41:15our nieces once they're once they're of age and our kids, of
- 41:17course, but we're a long way away from our kids being able to
- 41:20watch these see the. Beauty about showing your nieces
- 41:22and nephews or that you don't have to deal with the the the
- 41:26doubtful. I don't know, our sons pretty
- 41:28tough man. I don't think he would be
- 41:30afraid. No, he would be.
- 41:32I showed him Jurassic Park, like one clip of the T Rex showing up
- 41:35and he fucking like ran away. He didn't.
- 41:37Yeah, he's a tough. Boy, we stayed at my parents and
- 41:40we put him in the dark, huge scary basement by himself and he
- 41:44gave no fucks. No, he went down there and he
- 41:47went to sleep. I went down to stop.
- 41:49I went down there one night. We had to go down.
- 41:51The other two nights he went to sleep like nothing.
- 41:53No, he was. Exhausted.
- 41:54That's why he went to sleep. I'm just.
- 41:55Saying he's, he's a tough boy, OK.
- 41:58Who's your favorite and least favorite characters?
- 42:00OK. So I'm just gonna preface this
- 42:03OK, I could not do supporting characters because there's like
- 42:065 fucking people in this movie. OK.
- 42:08So who was I going to pick a supporting character?
- 42:10The fucking doctor at the hospital.
- 42:12Like there's or Tux or Specker or anybody.
- 42:15Outside of the immediate family is considered supporting well
- 42:18so. For favorite, I picked Elise.
- 42:20Yeah, I. Put.
- 42:21Yeah, obviously. Like I said earlier, she's a
- 42:24warm and light presence in the film and it helps break the
- 42:27tension. She's she's.
- 42:28Wicked man. She's she's fully in charge.
- 42:30She walks into the house, she starts looking around.
- 42:33She's like, she tells Specs that this is not a wiring problem in
- 42:36this house. Like she knows what's up.
- 42:38I I. Love her.
- 42:39And I think that the way that her gift is portrayed is very
- 42:43beautiful. Yeah, because it it leaves a lot
- 42:47of mystery, but it shows like she has like an ethereal light
- 42:52around her almost, Yeah. She she's almost like she has
- 42:56this gift and she's got a glow and she has this connection to
- 42:59the light present worlds and it's really, really nice.
- 43:02Yeah. She's.
- 43:02Like a sweet person feel. Safe.
- 43:04Yeah, she's. A sweet person while also having
- 43:06this supernatural ability. So she's just a very, very
- 43:08lovable Chester. Fucking choked out the end of
- 43:10the movie yo. Spoiler alert, well.
- 43:14If you're this far into the pod like you're going to spoil, your
- 43:17ending is fucked. I know I.
- 43:18Know we'll get to that. Who's your least favorite?
- 43:21So I I picked a main character. I had to.
- 43:24OK, go Josh, the dad. Oh, why?
- 43:28I he sucks. He's an emotionally unavailable
- 43:31and often physically unavailable husband and father.
- 43:34Yeah, he does avoid stress, His wife says at one point she's
- 43:38like, whether it's this or a parking ticket, you you avoid
- 43:40stress. He's an avoider, OK?
- 43:42He and he's he's vain. I'm going to count multiple
- 43:46times. In the in the movie you see
- 43:47putting face cream on that. That was giving me the act like
- 43:50putting face cream around his eyes.
- 43:51Why does that give you He's pulling out Gray hairs in the
- 43:54mirror putting. Cream on your face before bed is
- 43:57he's very. Vain.
- 43:58He's also stupid. He eats a piece of He eats a
- 44:03piece of wax fruit, and then he denies that there is a ghost or
- 44:08demon after seeing the fucking ransacked room.
- 44:11You're stupid and he's a bad husband.
- 44:15He stays late at school, avoiding coming home to help his
- 44:18wife care for their three children, one of whom let me
- 44:21finish, one of whom is in a coma.
- 44:23He is a selfish and very unlikable character in this
- 44:26movie, and it's not surprising that, spoiler alert, they're
- 44:29divorced in the Red Door. Rightfully so.
- 44:33I would divorce his selfishness. No, I'm just.
- 44:36Saying it's clear that this marriage is doomed because he
- 44:38sucks that much. So listen.
- 44:40I have a counter because Lynn Shea is our favorite Elise, but
- 44:44my least favorite is Rose Burns character and I'll tell you why.
- 44:48How could? You not like Renee so.
- 44:50There's some stuff that they don't explain in this movie.
- 44:52OK, So for example, when they first moved in the beginning of
- 44:55the movie, they move into that old timey looking house, right?
- 44:58Yeah. And she says in bed, like, I
- 45:01really want to make this place work, you know, I want to move
- 45:05on from what happened, Bubba. We don't really know why they've
- 45:08moved again. That creepy old house that they
- 45:11move in, where this stuff starts happening.
- 45:14They don't explain what happened.
- 45:15What's going on with her is did something happen with her
- 45:18career? Like, what is going on?
- 45:20I don't think. It's her.
- 45:21I think it's, I think their marriage is struggling a little
- 45:24bit and this is supposed to be a fresh start, OK.
- 45:26So maybe that's your thought, But he also says, I want you to
- 45:30focus on your music. So she's not pulling in any
- 45:33money. So this guy is a school teacher.
- 45:35School teachers make fuck all in the US.
- 45:38OK. So he's probably bringing in
- 45:40maximum in. Canada 40. 50K a year.
- 45:43OK, he's got three kids. His wife is a musician that I
- 45:48guess is struggling. OK, so the I'm I'm just telling
- 45:51you all the stressors. He moves in.
- 45:54He he he comes home from school, from work.
- 45:57He gives his kids something. He says share it with your
- 45:59brother. He's playing with the baby girl.
- 46:01He's being a really attentive, sweet dad.
- 46:04And then stuff starts to happen. His wife is like, I'm seeing
- 46:08shit, but we don't know what's going on.
- 46:11Maybe she had a mental breakdown like at the last house.
- 46:14So now he's like, is my wife fucking losing her mind?
- 46:17Like what is going on? So that's.
- 46:19A That's an excuse to avoid. No, I'm.
- 46:22Getting to that. So he's got a lot of pressure on
- 46:24him. He's trying to keep his house
- 46:26hold together, his wife is freaking out while he's at work.
- 46:30And then all this other stuff happens where his sons in a
- 46:32Coleman now and he's like, what the fuck is going on?
- 46:36That's that will take a toll on anybody, anybody.
- 46:39Of course it would. Take a toll.
- 46:41It would be horrible, but avoiding all that does is put
- 46:43all the stress on Renee and expect her to keep his household
- 46:47running his. Kids in a coma.
- 46:49They don't even know what to call it.
- 46:51His wife is fucking seeing shit. He's on the couch.
- 46:54This is why I don't like Rose Byrne.
- 46:56OK? You start seeing a fucking face
- 46:59like a guy standing behind your baby's crib.
- 47:02And why is that baby still alone?
- 47:06You know the baby's in her room after.
- 47:08After. After that, No, it's not right
- 47:11away. It's after.
- 47:12Why is your husband on the couch?
- 47:13Why isn't everybody in the family sleeping in one fucking
- 47:16room? After you see a person in your
- 47:18home and you hear a person in your fucking monitor,
- 47:22everybody's got to be in the same bedroom sleeping in the
- 47:25same bed. Like nobody would do that.
- 47:28Nobody would put their husband on the couch.
- 47:30If you're terrified you see a fucking bloody red hand on your
- 47:33kids bed and your husband's on the couch.
- 47:37Can I help you? They're.
- 47:38Fighting cause he's being a shit.
- 47:39How's it better you? No he's not being a shit father
- 47:42he's just going through it just like her and people deal with
- 47:46it. Also once we learn his back
- 47:48story about all the shit that happened with the fucking lady
- 47:51in the black dress, it kind of explains why he's like
- 47:55disconnected OK because regardless trauma because what
- 48:00happened when he's in avoider? And he's unavailable.
- 48:02I don't like it. He's.
- 48:04My least. Favorite she's.
- 48:05Fucking complaining about everything.
- 48:07Alright, so. We but we hate the husband and
- 48:08wife. You're going.
- 48:09After the guy for trying to look young.
- 48:11Like what the hell no. The way he does it, he does it
- 48:14like a lady. He like taps it into his eye,
- 48:16gives her egg. Gives you the egg.
- 48:18OK, yeah, slap it on your. Face like a man does not put
- 48:21lotion on like that. OK, Amanda.
- 48:25Doesn't usually put on lotion rose burns.
- 48:27Character she's she's she's trashing this like what are you
- 48:29doing I. Disagree, I like her.
- 48:31She's trashing this. I don't know.
- 48:34And and they move and they move and they're still in separate
- 48:38rooms. Bitch, you saw a little boy in
- 48:41the house put everybody in the same fucking room.
- 48:44She. Sends it to his mom's house.
- 48:45She sends the kids to his mom's house after that.
- 48:48Listen, we're not talking about the second movie, but the second
- 48:50movie The house is even scarier. The moms house.
- 48:54So yeah, the. Mom's fucking terrifying.
- 48:56Terrifying. It's old.
- 48:57And it's hot to the shit. All right?
- 49:01Fuck, I gotta leave Patrick. Wilson along.
- 49:03Yeah, OK. So.
- 49:04Cultural Impact Horror Daddy Cultural Impacts OK in Cities is
- 49:10recognized as one of the most important horror films of the
- 49:13220 tens, with many critics citing it as the starting point
- 49:19for for the modern horror era era.
- 49:21That includes It Follows, The Babadook, and Get Out, which are
- 49:26all considered top tier horror. It's praised and credited with
- 49:31bringing back old school supernatural horror rather than
- 49:33relying on excessive gore as was typical in the early aughts.
- 49:38We see this in Hostel, Saw and slasher remakes for Halloween
- 49:42and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The blood gets a little bit out
- 49:45of control for a few years there, and this movie delved
- 49:49into building tension and dread and using psychological terror
- 49:52to inflict fear accented with jump scares.
- 49:55Less is. More let your imagination fill
- 49:58in the the the void, you know to scare the crap out of you Yeah
- 50:01and it. Makes it a lot scarier in that
- 50:03way and then you're not seeing like basically just gratuitous
- 50:06violence and blood you mentioned.
- 50:08They show the the red faced mean a lot more at the end of the
- 50:11movie as a beginning. They don't show you anything.
- 50:14You just You see Dalton looking out his window.
- 50:17You hear the? Cry, you hear the.
- 50:19Crackling of his nails and the only the first time you see him
- 50:23is when the moms explaining and you see the the silhouette of
- 50:26him pointing at Dalton with his long ass nail.
- 50:29Yeah, that's like really scary. And then the face behind Patrick
- 50:32Wilson, that is enough. I don't need to see anymore, you
- 50:36know, like less is more, man. You mentioned before that it
- 50:41reinvigorated the haunted house tropes.
- 50:45So while featuring a possessed home, Insidious famously
- 50:48established that it was not the house that was haunted, but the
- 50:51child, putting a unique spin on a well known motif.
- 50:56And it's credited with making horror fun again, like you said,
- 51:00like things could be very depressing in in horror movies
- 51:04at the time. So in this one.
- 51:07And. This So in this one, they're
- 51:08utilizing jump scares, they're shifting away from the very
- 51:11depressing atmosphere the other horror movies of the time
- 51:14slipped into, and they're making it a little bit more fun and
- 51:18exciting. And although I did kind of talk
- 51:21shit about Specs and Tucker, that comedic relief really helps
- 51:25with the tension to make it a little bit more fun like.
- 51:28Hereditary is just like watching someone go through the most
- 51:34terrible, terrible tragedy in their life.
- 51:37Yeah. While being haunted.
- 51:39It's too much, guy. Yeah, it's.
- 51:41It's. It's it's really good.
- 51:43I fucking that movie is so good but it's really hard to rewatch.
- 51:47I've never rewatched. I've watched it once.
- 51:50It's. It's scary every time you watch
- 51:51it, but you're like, Oh my God, I forgot this scene.
- 51:54You're just like watching somebody ball her eyes out for
- 51:56like 20 minutes and you're like, Oh, yeah, I.
- 51:58Can't. I can't get into that.
- 52:00You know, cultural impact. This movie is the birth of the
- 52:03Blumhouse model. I mentioned it earlier, tiny,
- 52:05tiny budget make 100 times your money, you know, 100 times your
- 52:10budget. Like the haunted house movie
- 52:13made a huge comeback because of this, because audience started
- 52:15going you know what I want genuine scares.
- 52:18I want something to be afraid of.
- 52:20I want to feel eerie when I'm walking to my car after the
- 52:23movie or walking from my car to my home like It follows it.
- 52:28When I when I watched that, I remember walking to my leaving
- 52:31my car to walk to the house and I was looking over my shoulder.
- 52:35Yeah, you know, that's a fucking horror movie to me where I
- 52:39watched Insidious in the basement by myself.
- 52:42I went upstairs and I looked at the back window and I pictured
- 52:46the fucking long haired. Feel like walking?
- 52:49Back and forth or staring at me through the fucking window.
- 52:52You know, this is what this movie did.
- 52:55And it's, it's still going. It's it's going strong.
- 52:59I agree, talk about the soundtrack.
- 53:02Oh my God, the soundtrack. Very unique, amazing.
- 53:06It's very. Scary.
- 53:07Amazing. Joseph Bishara and we.
- 53:10Have these jarring, Yeah, we have these jarring loud piano
- 53:14and violin. When something scary happens, it
- 53:17makes your heart race even more and makes the jump scare even
- 53:20scarier. Like the movies telling you
- 53:22something's terribly wrong and it it just brings your heart
- 53:26rate up. Yeah.
- 53:27You just sitting there and you just hear like random strings on
- 53:32a violin just going off and then something big happens and you
- 53:36hear it sounds like somebody dropped an anvil on an open
- 53:40piano or on a on a on a fucking violin.
- 53:43Just let everything go and it's so scary.
- 53:47And I've never seen anyone do that in any other movie I've
- 53:51seen. It in other movies but not this
- 53:53good. That's another piece of this
- 53:55movie, like the soundtrack perfectly.
- 53:58Done. And it's Joseph.
- 53:59Bashara. I'm giving him a shout out
- 54:00because he also plays their lipstick Demon I.
- 54:06I did see that on some trivia online.
- 54:08That fucking crazy. Man, like this guy is the goat.
- 54:11I'm sorry. He's yeah, I'm not calling the
- 54:14goat because he has hooves for feet, you know, But he's
- 54:16actually the goal. He's he did the soundtrack.
- 54:19I played the soundtrack just earlier today and I had to turn
- 54:23it off. I listened to about a minute and
- 54:25a half. I'm like, Nope, no, I'm good,
- 54:26thank you. You could play the soundtrack
- 54:28anywhere. You just sit in your car, you
- 54:31could be in the house. Just play the soundtrack and you
- 54:34will it causes. Dread you will get.
- 54:36Freaked out right away. Yeah, like right away.
- 54:39It without question. Amazing soundtrack.
- 54:42I agree. Location, location, location.
- 54:45Yes. So for me, it's, we talked about
- 54:48this when we were watching it. It's the bungalow.
- 54:50You like that one? There's a second.
- 54:52House in the movie. I love how many windows it has,
- 54:55giving it a light and airy look. It's so cute from the outside.
- 54:59That's funny and I associate it with a lot of joy because that's
- 55:02where Dalton comes out of his coma.
- 55:04So the first house is just pure depression.
- 55:06So here's. The thing I put the 1st house,
- 55:09that's my favorite location because it's so freaky.
- 55:13It is the freakiest looking house ever from the outside.
- 55:16And then you go in, it's all that dark wood.
- 55:19The big door. It's one big door, a lot of
- 55:21front doors, just as extra wide front door and the staircase
- 55:25with the grandfather clock, OHS and then.
- 55:28The attic, The upstairs like attic has.
- 55:30A furnace on the in the attic. Like what house has a furnace in
- 55:33the attic even before you get? Into the attic, just the
- 55:35upstairs, there's all those doors, there's all these little
- 55:38hallways around, like the staircase.
- 55:40It's very spooky the way I. Love that house.
- 55:43Whoever scouted and found that house, Great fucking job
- 55:46honestly. And the best part look like the
- 55:49genius of this movie is you start in the scarier home and
- 55:53then they move because they're like, we need to move.
- 55:55Because, you know, also they don't buy the house, they lease
- 55:58it. They're renting because
- 56:00obviously they're not rich, you know, so their money's all tied
- 56:03up probably in the other house. But the husband's like, no, no,
- 56:06we'll move. You want to move.
- 56:07Whatever makes you feel safe because he's such a bad person.
- 56:11But they move into the bungalow. OK, The bungalow is nice and
- 56:17warm. It's got warmer colours, a lot
- 56:19of windows. It feels much safer, right
- 56:21Ceiling, yes. And then yeah, it has a better.
- 56:23Vibe and. Which I think the genius of this
- 56:26movie is they go from a scary house to a nice looking house
- 56:29and the scares get even worse. Yeah.
- 56:31And then in the second movie, it's just so happens that
- 56:36Patrick Wilson's mom because they move in with her.
- 56:40She lives in a terrible. She lives in.
- 56:42A house that's scarier than the first Insidious house.
- 56:45Yeah. When you look at the Insidious
- 56:46poster, it's a picture of Dalton, right?
- 56:48And in the background, it's the first house because it's so
- 56:52fucking creepy. I don't know.
- 56:54Why you would pick that as your location?
- 56:55I like no nice I don't. Know it's safe house I don't
- 56:58like I wouldn't live there I'm just saying it's such a really
- 57:01good location for the movie like it's such a well picked home you
- 57:05know it's so old timey they don't make their homes like that
- 57:08anymore I. Actually lived in a really old
- 57:11house my second year at university.
- 57:13It was like over 100 years old. And when we went and looked at
- 57:18it like the carpet was like very busy and it had like dark wood.
- 57:22Similarly, in a very small kitchen, because those old homes
- 57:25always had small kitchens, and living there was freaky.
- 57:30The the basement there was very scary.
- 57:32There was a crawl space with the little door that sometimes would
- 57:35just, like, open on its own. Fuck that.
- 57:37It was. Yeah.
- 57:38And it was like an old head, Like, that house is probably
- 57:39haunted. Yeah.
- 57:41Some, you know, some homes, they're just creepy, you know,
- 57:44like the house I lived in and when I went to school.
- 57:47When I met you, that house wasn't creepy.
- 57:49But at night time, if you're by yourself, it was very scary
- 57:52because you could walk in from the front or the back and had a
- 57:57sunken living room. With all those windows so.
- 58:00Sometimes you'd be in the kitchen and you could see like
- 58:02there's this like half window, half wall thing to the sunken
- 58:05living room and the corner of your eye, you're just like you,
- 58:08you know, you just picture somebody standing there as
- 58:11fucking you. Scare the shit of yourself.
- 58:12Yeah, that. House was deceptively large too.
- 58:14Like, it would you would feel like a little unsafe being there
- 58:16by yourself and you were there by yourself for a whole
- 58:18semester, Yeah. Thug Life.
- 58:21So who gets a spin-off? I.
- 58:24I. Wanna say Elise, Specs and
- 58:26Tucker? Yeah.
- 58:27But they do already, yeah. Basically movies 3-4, Yeah 3 and
- 58:314 go into their back story, I wrote.
- 58:33Tucker and Specs, their solo movie.
- 58:36Just them ghost hunting. But without a lease, it tells us
- 58:40in the later movies that they have no talent without her then.
- 58:43Maybe something that happens, maybe they meet somebody else,
- 58:45new medium or something. I thought that happened at the
- 58:48end of the last Insidious. Maybe I'm.
- 58:51I think in the last he they, they mean well.
- 58:55What happened was they went to meet her brother, Elise's
- 58:58brother. Oh yeah.
- 58:59And he had kids. And one of the kids was a
- 59:01medium. OK.
- 59:03Yeah, she got the gift too, so. There's 5 movies that are out.
- 59:07Six number six is on the way and one and two or three is really
- 59:11good. 3 is fucking scary. 1 and 2.
- 59:13Are the scariest, but three is scary.
- 59:16Really scary 4. Yeah, it's, you know, it starts
- 59:20to like, you know, they're really pulling at strings now.
- 59:23Yeah, they. Delve into Elise's back story.
- 59:26Yeah, in that one. But it's not, it's not as good.
- 59:30K double feature. I put Insidious chapter 2 so.
- 59:34Did I best? Honestly, it this and then
- 59:38Conjuring one and two. It's one of the best 1-2 punches
- 59:41for horror movie, but this one is directly after the first,
- 59:46which I think it's the best one to a horror movie sequels ever
- 59:51made. Yeah.
- 59:52So I think if you watch Insidious one and two as one, it
- 59:56is better than watching Conjuring One and Two.
- 59:59But Conjuring 1 is better than Insidious One, yeah.
- 1:00:02And and by conjuring 2, James Wan is fully like he.
- 1:00:06That's the other thing. He goes from this to conjuring
- 1:00:09and conjuring. He's fully perfected His his his
- 1:00:12stick. I still think it's better
- 1:00:16conjuring. Is him making a perfect horror
- 1:00:19movie Yeah, this one is his like rough draft and it's still OHK
- 1:00:23it's. Still and then.
- 1:00:24Insidious Chapter 2 is again, perfect horror in my opinion.
- 1:00:29It's terrifying. Well.
- 1:00:31Also they delve into the Bride and Insidious chapter.
- 1:00:33Two and the bride. Is one of the scariest demons or
- 1:00:38ghosts the. Mom of the bride.
- 1:00:41Oh my God, don't. You dare fuck you.
- 1:00:44Why would you say that? Ohe ohe no.
- 1:00:48The scene at the end where they're in the kids room because
- 1:00:51the mom didn't want a boy so she makes her son dressed like a
- 1:00:54girl. OHP.
- 1:00:56And then the kids like they're in the further right.
- 1:01:00They're looking at the mom and she's looking away, and then she
- 1:01:03slowly turns around and looks right at the camera.
- 1:01:09Get the fuck out, bro. Yeah, no thanks, yo.
- 1:01:13This movie so scary and the second one says.
- 1:01:15This thing was so scary. Remember, they moved, they go
- 1:01:18into the house and the second one and Rose Burns walking in
- 1:01:20the house by herself, and then she walks through the hall.
- 1:01:23And then they do that same thing where you, you, you're looking,
- 1:01:26you're hunting as a viewer. And then you see a woman in a
- 1:01:29white dress sitting on the couch and she sees it too.
- 1:01:32And then she goes around and it's not there.
- 1:01:35And then it's fucking appears out of nowhere and slaps the
- 1:01:38shit out of her. Don't you dare.
- 1:01:40That's why, yeah, yeah. I I can't even the second one.
- 1:01:46They're both amazing OHP they're.
- 1:01:48They're yeah, they're both. I also.
- 1:01:49Wrote just for, you know, Poltergeist.
- 1:01:51It's still a good movie, It still holds up.
- 1:01:53It's not as scary not. Nearly as scary, not nearly as
- 1:01:56good. It's still freaky.
- 1:01:57It's more comisky now. Even the mediums like this
- 1:02:01little woman who kind of sounds funny, she talks, Yeah.
- 1:02:05Just let the people talk to us through the screen.
- 1:02:08Yeah, something about. The scariest part of that movie
- 1:02:11to me is when they come home and the I think it's the mom.
- 1:02:14She's like, watch this and she puts the chair and the, the the
- 1:02:18the spirit pulls the chair across the room.
- 1:02:20I'll be like, why are we here? Get your.
- 1:02:22Shit, that's good. That's like conjuring.
- 1:02:24No, it's. Poltergeist.
- 1:02:25They did it. Poltergeist.
- 1:02:26She puts an X on the floor in the kitchen, and then the
- 1:02:30poltergeist pulls the chair from one side of the kitchen to the
- 1:02:33other. And she keeps doing it.
- 1:02:34And she keeps doing it. And they're like, why are you
- 1:02:37here? Get your shit, get the hell out.
- 1:02:39Why are you still there? A bit out of there real quick
- 1:02:41after that shit, yeah. OK, movie alias now before.
- 1:02:45We go movie, alias, kiss, marry, kill.
- 1:02:49Oh boy, the red. Faced demon oht.
- 1:02:51You're a Dick. The Bridgman.
- 1:02:54Yeah. Kiss.
- 1:02:55Yeah. The the.
- 1:02:55Lips the The blood faced demon. Darth Maul, the bride demon.
- 1:03:00Ohhhhh and. The you're.
- 1:03:02Dick and the. Guy, the guys even that luck.
- 1:03:05You picked all three terrifying people.
- 1:03:09The long haired fiend? Yeah, the guy that comes into.
- 1:03:11The room and so kiss, marry, kill OHS.
- 1:03:19You know what? I don't even know bro.
- 1:03:24I don't. You should just.
- 1:03:25Marry the bride because she's already a bride.
- 1:03:27No, I'm killing them all. I'm killing them all.
- 1:03:30I'm killing them all. You're not.
- 1:03:32Gonna kiss like that big guy I'll.
- 1:03:34I'll he wants. He wants.
- 1:03:35To kiss Rose, Burn and you. Listen, I'll, I'll, I'll marry,
- 1:03:39I'll marry the long haired fiend, OK?
- 1:03:43Just because honestly, it seems like the least scary.
- 1:03:47That's the least worst choice, OK, We don't really have a back
- 1:03:50story on this guy. He just wears a leather coat and
- 1:03:53he just walks back and forth. So we'll go the long haired
- 1:03:56friend is married and then I'm going to kill the bride, the
- 1:04:02demon. I'll I'll I'll kiss cause the.
- 1:04:04Kids eat the lipstick. Lipstick.
- 1:04:06Darth Maul face. Yeah.
- 1:04:07I don't like which one. They're all trash, you know,
- 1:04:11they're all trash. You literally said to me, do you
- 1:04:14want the rat poison? Do you want the the skunk poison
- 1:04:18or do you want like the snake poison?
- 1:04:20Which one do you want? And I'm like, let me see.
- 1:04:24I think I'll take all three your Dick.
- 1:04:28You could even give me like anybody I.
- 1:04:31Was gonna put me. I was gonna give me Tucker.
- 1:04:33Aspect I was gonna. Put specs in there but it was
- 1:04:35better to not you picked. All three trash.
- 1:04:38You know what? You didn't even pick anybody in
- 1:04:41the further like one of those other people like that crazy
- 1:04:43smiling family. What you.
- 1:04:45Gonna put the whole smiling family.
- 1:04:46None of them have names, that's true.
- 1:04:48The one that kills everyone? The shotgun.
- 1:04:50OHP fucked up man. OK lazy Sunday vibes.
- 1:04:53You fucking no. It's way too scary, I wrote.
- 1:04:56No, but maybe Sunday evening, you know, stop.
- 1:04:59Trying to make everything a lazy Sunday movie.
- 1:05:01This is not no. But this is a.
- 1:05:03Saturday night, we wanna be scared the shit out of us.
- 1:05:06That's what this is. Stop making everything a lazy
- 1:05:10Sunday movie, don't you? Dare don't you dare make it
- 1:05:14always anyway movie alias this was tough cause this the title
- 1:05:19is amazing so. I I chose the further like just
- 1:05:23out of my. Mind further too, and then I.
- 1:05:24Looked online and that was almost the name of this.
- 1:05:27Yeah, and I'm glad it isn't. Insidious is fucking so good.
- 1:05:31The father would have. Been fine, no?
- 1:05:32Insidious is terrifying. It's so freaky.
- 1:05:36Like I it's the perfect title for this movie.
- 1:05:38I I couldn't even think of another title.
- 1:05:41I wrote harm. I wrote fire face or.
- 1:05:44Harmful fire face because. The cause?
- 1:05:47The somebody says he has fire on his face.
- 1:05:49I think Dalton might Dalton. He's the man with fire in his
- 1:05:52face. Yeah, cause that's.
- 1:05:54A lot scarier than lipstick face they could have.
- 1:05:56Called it Dalton, Yeah, but it's.
- 1:05:58Not really about Dalton. It's really about Dalton's comas
- 1:06:01effect on the family. Yeah.
- 1:06:03That's true. Poor kid gets a shaft K best
- 1:06:07performance. So I'm going to pick Elise.
- 1:06:12OK, like I've. Said she brings levity to the
- 1:06:15movie in a way that really works.
- 1:06:18She portrays someone with a super mat natural gift in a
- 1:06:21unique and believable way. And as if you or I feel relieved
- 1:06:25when she enters the movie because she is the first one
- 1:06:28that gives us a solution to Dalton's comma.
- 1:06:32So we immediately cling to her because she's she's finally
- 1:06:36bringing a solution. That's a good pick.
- 1:06:41It was tough for me because there was a couple of, you know,
- 1:06:43everybody does a really good job in this movie, but I had to go
- 1:06:47with the fucking Darth Maul face demon.
- 1:06:50That guy. Really.
- 1:06:51Yeah. Well, Joseph Bishara, the guy
- 1:06:54did the soundtrack and he plays the demon.
- 1:06:57Like you, you, you double fisting here, like this guy is
- 1:07:00killing it. Like yeah, you.
- 1:07:02Made one of the most. Iconic scary soundtracks for our
- 1:07:05film Ever. And you scared the living shit
- 1:07:09out of me when I was on my laptop because you're standing
- 1:07:11behind Patrick Wilson and you're like, But it's the.
- 1:07:14Makeup and effects that make him scary.
- 1:07:15It's not necessarily the performance because Like Renee
- 1:07:18also gives a great performance in this film.
- 1:07:21Rose Byrne was my second even though like she's my least
- 1:07:23favorite character. I think she's a terrible mom in
- 1:07:25this. I don't think she's a very good
- 1:07:27mom. Why is your baby alone?
- 1:07:30You heard snapping. Listen.
- 1:07:31You heard a voice on the monitor and then you went upstairs and
- 1:07:37you think you saw a shadow behind the door.
- 1:07:40The nursery? Like why?
- 1:07:42Also why is your fucking crib have so much shit in it?
- 1:07:44You trying to smother your baby? I know.
- 1:07:46That is not safe sleep at all. It has bumpers, it has a pillow
- 1:07:50and it has a blanket. It puts your husband baby is
- 1:07:52clearly under one year old your husband on.
- 1:07:53The couch when your house is fucking haunted.
- 1:08:14Excuse me, the alarms going off. She gives a great performance in
- 1:08:19this film. She does.
- 1:08:20She's the one who is terrorized. She looks.
- 1:08:22Really scared, Yeah. She's the one who's terrorized
- 1:08:25the most by the ghost and and her facial expressions convey
- 1:08:29fear and terror so well, and her performance is what makes the
- 1:08:32movie so spooky. I.
- 1:08:34Give it to Darth Maul face. Joseph Bishara just goaded for
- 1:08:38this soundtrack. Darth Maul face like filing
- 1:08:41nails. Let's move.
- 1:08:43On to our favorite segment, shower thoughts.
- 1:08:46OK, well we call this further thoughts further.
- 1:08:49Oh, I like that OK. So my question earlier and maybe
- 1:08:53you can give some insight on this, why did Rose Byrne and
- 1:08:56Patrick Wilson move into the first creepy house when stuff
- 1:09:00started happening? She mentions wanting to restart,
- 1:09:03start fresh, like what happened? What do you think happened?
- 1:09:06So what? I'm gathering because they are
- 1:09:09divorced in the Red Door sequel. Yeah, I think that they were
- 1:09:14having some marital issues. They're having some problems,
- 1:09:17maybe with him being distant, maybe with her career
- 1:09:20floundering, maybe they're having money problems.
- 1:09:23It's hard to say. But I think they were having
- 1:09:25some kind of marital dysfunction and they were like, listen,
- 1:09:27let's move to this new place. We'll take the kids to to a
- 1:09:30Newtown, whatever, or a new area and it'll be a fresh start for
- 1:09:35us. OK, yeah, I I couldn't think of
- 1:09:38anything, but honestly, just based on what I saw, I think
- 1:09:42maybe she's having career troubles.
- 1:09:44Yeah. It seemed like that, like I
- 1:09:46don't think anybody cheated or anything it did.
- 1:09:47No, I don't. Think that like, I think you
- 1:09:49know, they never really delve into that at all like that
- 1:09:52because it's. It's not important.
- 1:09:53The fact is that they know of. Unanswerable question, you know.
- 1:09:57Yeah, but the. Fact is that they moved and
- 1:09:59yeah, this is where we are now. This film was shot in just three
- 1:10:03weeks. Oh.
- 1:10:04Yeah, which is crazy. Was filmed in like I think a
- 1:10:08week or two. The original.
- 1:10:10That's crazy. Keep the movies, Take a.
- 1:10:13Few months, yeah. But yeah, that would be how you
- 1:10:14keep the watch low. But yeah, there, there really
- 1:10:16are only two locations. Yeah.
- 1:10:19There's, you know, a couple shots in the hospital, a couple
- 1:10:21shots of him in the school, but it's the two homes and there's
- 1:10:24really not really any other locations.
- 1:10:26So I could see how it could be as short films.
- 1:10:29Movie, Yeah. Quickly filmed for sure.
- 1:10:31Yeah. Little Easter egg here.
- 1:10:34The scene where Josh is telling his class, you know, dismissing
- 1:10:38the class and, you know, he's they're they're walking towards
- 1:10:41the chalkboard. You can clearly see the drawing
- 1:10:44of Billy the puppet from Jigsaw in the corner of the chalkboard.
- 1:10:48Yeah, it's just a little nod to fans of Saw fans of James wanted
- 1:10:52Leonel, who made that franchise. Also, just above the drawing,
- 1:10:56you see the name Leslie Borchard.
- 1:10:59She's the one who's in charge of makeup for this movie.
- 1:11:02So shout out to her because the demon dark small face, fucking
- 1:11:07top notch, yeah. Very scary and.
- 1:11:09And the bride, the bride. Oh, my God, the bride's fine.
- 1:11:12I just mentioned here the, the, the lady in the black dress is
- 1:11:15Loki, the most scary character in this.
- 1:11:18Yeah. Especially when she's Lorraine
- 1:11:21showing, not Lorraine. It's yeah, Lorraine.
- 1:11:24The Patrick Wilson's mom is fucking handing him those
- 1:11:26pictures of the the childhood photos.
- 1:11:29Oh my God that shit is terrifying.
- 1:11:36You were terrified of an old woman you said used to come
- 1:11:39visit you at night. I dismissed your stories.
- 1:11:47I I told you to grow up and then I saw her for myself.
- 1:12:05At first I thought it was a camera problem and then I saw
- 1:12:12her again. In each photo, she got closer.
- 1:12:22Closer. I'm closer to you just.
- 1:12:30One by 10. Like every time I think about it
- 1:12:33I get like I get the ick like I get.
- 1:12:36Freaked out like back then you had to go and get film, Yeah.
- 1:12:39Yeah, yeah, you had to. Go get it.
- 1:12:41What's it called? Yeah, you don't.
- 1:12:44Have to get film developed back then yeah.
- 1:12:46So imagine going to dropping off your film and then picking it up
- 1:12:48and being like, this was like 3 weeks ago, Yeah.
- 1:12:51And this fucking woman is in the background watching my son.
- 1:12:53Yeah. And then.
- 1:12:54Another one reaching for my. Son and then.
- 1:12:56Another one and another one OHS like that's why I like that she
- 1:13:00reached out to eat and then just showing her face in the opening
- 1:13:03sequence before the credits roll like before the credits, you
- 1:13:07just see the zoom in of the the silhouette and the the the
- 1:13:10kitchen window. Oh my God, she never.
- 1:13:12Truly went away. She's always been watching him,
- 1:13:14yeah. It's really like just the
- 1:13:17thought of that as a parent, I just want to shit myself.
- 1:13:20I'm terrified. Yeah, sorry.
- 1:13:24Shout out to Rose Byrne. She's so underrated.
- 1:13:28She's so beautiful and she has so much range.
- 1:13:30Yeah, she was in Bridesmaids. She was in Get Him to the Greek.
- 1:13:34She was in this movie. She was in Neighbors.
- 1:13:37Wildly different characters. Never movie.
- 1:13:40Like, sometimes you see actors and they play the same character
- 1:13:43in every movie. I think she's.
- 1:13:44Brave she takes different. She's she's like, I'll do that.
- 1:13:47Yeah, sure, let's do it. Yeah, her.
- 1:13:48Character and get him to the Greek is completely opposite of
- 1:13:50her character and bridesmaids completely different from her
- 1:13:53character and in neighbors The funny thing.
- 1:13:55Is she neighbors 2 movies and she's not pigeonholed like a
- 1:13:58scream queen, you know she's. Not Yeah, she's.
- 1:14:01I think she does more comedy than anything else.
- 1:14:04Yeah. But she's so underrated.
- 1:14:06And I really like that her and Dalton have matching pajamas on
- 1:14:09in the opening scene. That's really cute.
- 1:14:11It is really cute because it's like, they're probably leftover
- 1:14:13Christmas pajamas or something. Can we talk?
- 1:14:15About the long haired friend one more time.
- 1:14:17This guy had some of the best scares in the movie in the
- 1:14:20beginning. Like this is what I love about
- 1:14:23this movie, The build up to each scare.
- 1:14:26It takes its sweet time. Like the first day the books are
- 1:14:30on the floor and then the second day, like you know, the night
- 1:14:34hat, they go to sleep, nothing happens.
- 1:14:36You hear the crackling outside. Like you don't see stuff yet.
- 1:14:40And then the the the monitor, you hear the voice and the
- 1:14:42monitor, she goes upstairs, nothing's going on.
- 1:14:45Then the next day you see the shadow of like and then that one
- 1:14:49scene and I pointed this out to you when it's we're still at the
- 1:14:531st house. Rose Byrne wakes up from a
- 1:14:56nightmare and it's like 1:50 in the morning and the cameras on
- 1:15:01her as she's panting for 30 seconds straight.
- 1:15:06You don't see anything. You don't.
- 1:15:08It doesn't cut away. It's just her.
- 1:15:11It's a close up of her. It's quiet and you're just like,
- 1:15:15what's going on? And then you start hearing
- 1:15:16footsteps and it cuts to the window to her right and you see
- 1:15:21the fucking long haired fiend walking back and forth and the
- 1:15:24camera slowly zooming into her face as she's, like, slowly
- 1:15:28getting scared. Yeah, Josh.
- 1:15:31Yeah. And then James, one fucking
- 1:15:34genius. Long haired fiend walks left.
- 1:15:37Long haired friend walks right. Josh.
- 1:15:56Josh. And then when he walks left
- 1:16:04again, he's inside the, inside the.
- 1:16:06Fucking room. The first time I watched that, I
- 1:16:08think that scared me more than the demon face reveal when we.
- 1:16:12Were watching that this time. Yeah, that fucking happens.
- 1:16:16She screams and then our baby started crying.
- 1:16:19Oh yeah, and we're both like the baby monitor.
- 1:16:24Like actual IRL baby was crying. Right at that, she started
- 1:16:28crying. Right at that scene.
- 1:16:29So I get up to go comfort her and it's pitch black in the
- 1:16:34babies room and the closet is just open and pitch black
- 1:16:38inside. And I was like because I had
- 1:16:41just gotten so scared by the long haired fiend and then our
- 1:16:44baby was like come and come and save me.
- 1:16:47Yeah. He's fucked up such.
- 1:16:48Bad timing. Yeah, that.
- 1:16:50Scene like, oh, just the the patience.
- 1:16:53Take some not like blow your wad right away, so to speak.
- 1:16:57Yeah, like this is what horror movies they don't do anymore.
- 1:17:02They don't take their time. Now they do.
- 1:17:04Sorry, they didn't for a lot of years.
- 1:17:05It was just boom, bullshit jump scare.
- 1:17:07Now it takes its sweet time, yeah.
- 1:17:10It it does take its time I want to know the back story of the
- 1:17:14smiling family in the living room and what what happened I.
- 1:17:18Mean like just. They ended up shot by shotgun,
- 1:17:22but like I we see little glimpses.
- 1:17:25I wanna know. I wanna know the whole story.
- 1:17:26What the fuck happened? Sounds.
- 1:17:28Like just looking at it looks like they're they're, they're
- 1:17:31fake happy. Like it's a bunch of people that
- 1:17:32are living for other people. They're not really happy.
- 1:17:35They're miserable. And one of them is the most
- 1:17:37miserable and she just grabs a shotgun and blows everybody away
- 1:17:40and. Why are they in that?
- 1:17:42How do they really live in that house or just in the further?
- 1:17:44Everybody's in that house trying to get to Dalton, I think.
- 1:17:47The Further is like a dream, almost like a dream state, and
- 1:17:51people are just roaming because in the second movie, do you
- 1:17:55think it's limbo? Yeah, it's kind of like in
- 1:17:58between, which is really scary to think about.
- 1:18:00But in the second movie, you see Patrick Wilson in The Further
- 1:18:03and he walks into something like there was a character like a A
- 1:18:08in The Further that he runs into, and it's just fucking
- 1:18:12terrifying. Like he's just walking around
- 1:18:14it. Could it could be like
- 1:18:16purgatory? Yeah, honestly, it's it's hard
- 1:18:18to say with the further is it's very it's open to
- 1:18:21interpretation. Although this is the first
- 1:18:24Insidious film. Yeah, the subsequent sequels go
- 1:18:27back in time because of the Elise character.
- 1:18:31Um, so this is actually technically the third film in
- 1:18:34the chronology. Oh.
- 1:18:36Yeah, because the. 3rd movie was before this and the last key was
- 1:18:40before this. This was.
- 1:18:42Actually #3 and then Cities 2 is #4 one thing I.
- 1:18:45Really appreciate about this movie and Insidious chapter 2
- 1:18:48James Wand really thought about little details about the time
- 1:18:52because in the further time isn't like it's in the thing, so
- 1:18:57you can be at any time in the further and you know when in
- 1:19:02Insidious 1 where he wakes up the alarm goes off and the front
- 1:19:05door is open multiple times. Horrifying.
- 1:19:08Yeah, in the. 2nd movie. In the second movie, it's
- 1:19:11Patrick Wilson that opens the door and the alarm is going off
- 1:19:15because he's trying to get into the house.
- 1:19:16Yeah, right. So it's just little details,
- 1:19:19like who the fuck is opening the door?
- 1:19:21You're terrified, right? He grabs the the fire poker.
- 1:19:23But then in the second movie, it's him.
- 1:19:25He's in the further he's trying to like, you know, he's I think
- 1:19:30he's trying to find his way back.
- 1:19:31He's. Trying to let his wife know that
- 1:19:33he's trapped. Yeah, but yeah, one thing I
- 1:19:37mentioned the the scene where Renee is spooked in the attic in
- 1:19:40the 1st house, it mirrors the the the attention of the iconic
- 1:19:44attic scene in The Exorcist. There's a little bit of a homage
- 1:19:48to that. And then also in Poltergeist.
- 1:19:50For Poltergeist, the scene where Specs puts a raw steak on his
- 1:19:54face after being injured is a direct reference to the
- 1:19:56hallucination scene in Poltergeist.
- 1:19:59OHP, just a little. Homage there, which is really
- 1:20:02nice. I know that.
- 1:20:03Yeah. There's quite a few Easter eggs,
- 1:20:05I mean the saw ones, yeah. So what is that little boy?
- 1:20:10Ghost Renee says when she got up close, he wasn't a boy.
- 1:20:15Yeah, it looked. Like a little man.
- 1:20:16What was? He What does that mean?
- 1:20:18I don't know, maybe a little man just he did look.
- 1:20:21Like he had an old man face, but what is what?
- 1:20:24Like what was he? Was he a demon?
- 1:20:26There's just spirits that don't go to the next level, just kind
- 1:20:31of roaming. Was he the spirit of a little
- 1:20:33boy? Or was he this some kind of?
- 1:20:34Creepy. Whatever it was, he liked to
- 1:20:36fucking Tiny Tim and it was terrifying.
- 1:20:39I'm not afraid. Yeah, it was pretty scary.
- 1:20:41Scary. The laugh when you running
- 1:20:43across the room so I. Got I'm gonna freak out.
- 1:20:45Don't talk about it. Like All in all this movie, I
- 1:20:49think just every little detail about it, you have multiple
- 1:20:53scary characters. You've got the bride, you got
- 1:20:55the long haired fiend, you got the the the little boy.
- 1:20:59There's all these little characters in it of the demonic
- 1:21:03characters and they're all top notch scary.
- 1:21:06It's almost like James Wan had ideas for multiple characters or
- 1:21:11Leonel as well. They had multiple ideas for all.
- 1:21:13Let's make a movie about the bride and the black dress.
- 1:21:16Let's make a movie about this. And he's just like, yo, let's
- 1:21:19put them all together and just terrify everybody.
- 1:21:22Well, the funny. Thing about the Bride is,
- 1:21:25although she is a demon being played by a man, yeah, it wasn't
- 1:21:30till they started working on the sequel that they decided the
- 1:21:33character was actually a man dressed as a woman.
- 1:21:35Yeah, it. Was it was a man like playing
- 1:21:37the bride? Yeah, it was a man.
- 1:21:38Playing the playing a bride, but they didn't have the back story
- 1:21:41of him being a crossdresser until later, Yeah.
- 1:21:44Let's talk about the ending. Want to talk about anything?
- 1:21:48Yeah. So the ending Josh is trying to
- 1:21:51get back to his body from the further he sends Dalton.
- 1:21:53They have to split up because I have to go back to their
- 1:21:55respective bodies. Yeah.
- 1:21:57And he pauses to talk to the bride and ask why are you trying
- 1:22:01to? Yeah, what?
- 1:22:02Like why would you leave? Doing here, he's like, what are
- 1:22:04you doing here? Yeah, like why?
- 1:22:05Won't you leave me alone? Leave me alone.
- 1:22:06Get away from me, get away from my family.
- 1:22:08And the bride just smiles because she's now close enough.
- 1:22:12She, he is finally gone, back to astral projecting.
- 1:22:15And she was so close before that she now has this chance to take
- 1:22:19him and take over his body. And she takes, she goes into his
- 1:22:22body. Yeah.
- 1:22:24And he's talking to Elise. And he passes Elise some
- 1:22:28pictures, and she looks at his hand, and she sees the bride's
- 1:22:32hand. And then she takes a picture of
- 1:22:34him. Yeah.
- 1:22:35And she? Freaks out, he freaks.
- 1:22:37Out. Why would you do?
- 1:22:38That, you know, I don't like getting photos taken of me like
- 1:22:41Patrick Wilson. So mellow the whole movie.
- 1:22:43And then right at that. And he's like the rage comes
- 1:22:46out. It's really unsettling because
- 1:22:48he's a pretty chill dad. Well, he he murders.
- 1:22:50Her. Why did you do that?
- 1:22:57Why would you do that to me when you know how I feel about that?
- 1:23:00Why? Why?
- 1:23:04Why no? In fact, you're never going to
- 1:23:09sleep again. You have to stay awake for the
- 1:23:11rest of your life. Why?
- 1:23:16No, I know, but his reaction is very unsettling.
- 1:23:18You're like, oh, something's not right with this guy.
- 1:23:21And they choked her to death. Yeah, like, OHS Poor Elise.
- 1:23:24She gets fucking wrong then. Renee picks up the camera, sees
- 1:23:27the picture, and then Patrick Wilson touches her shoulder and
- 1:23:30she's like. But then in the second movie,
- 1:23:33she doesn't know. No, it's kind of weird.
- 1:23:36Here's the thing, my only gripe with the ending, I think the
- 1:23:39ending is amazing. It's the nice, really scary
- 1:23:42cherry on the sundae to a fucking wicked horror movie.
- 1:23:46Because you're like a lot of movies try to do a little jump
- 1:23:49scare at the end or a fake one. Yeah, but this really, really
- 1:23:53did it well. What I wish they didn't do was
- 1:23:56they show like a little quick flashback as to what Elise saw,
- 1:24:01right. And she looks at the camera and
- 1:24:03it's a picture of the the bride. Yeah, it's.
- 1:24:06Scary. They shouldn't.
- 1:24:07Have shown us that, but it's scary.
- 1:24:08No, it's scarier if she touches the hand, sees something weird,
- 1:24:14takes a picture, and then he freaks out, chokes her, and then
- 1:24:19they come and see what's going on and then she sees the dead
- 1:24:23Elise. Rose Burns sees Elise dead and
- 1:24:27then you hear Patrick go honey or whatever, and then it gets
- 1:24:31cuts to her turning around and it goes black.
- 1:24:34Renee. I'm right?
- 1:24:36Here, you don't know what's happening.
- 1:24:41You're like, what happened? What happened?
- 1:24:42Oh, my God, my God, my God. And then people are like, what
- 1:24:44happened? Did the bride take over?
- 1:24:45The bride took over, for sure. The bride took over.
- 1:24:47Yeah, but. People wouldn't realize that,
- 1:24:48and they'd be like, why did Patrick Wilson kill?
- 1:24:50They would have. Because it wasn't.
- 1:24:52But he looks in the mirror, right?
- 1:24:53They would have like, we're not stupid.
- 1:24:55The audience isn't stupid. And then the second movie they
- 1:24:58move into Lorraine's house and her husband is acting off but
- 1:25:05not enough for her to notice. And then things start happening.
- 1:25:09Oht man, I wanna watch second one right now.
- 1:25:11Yeah, the. Second one so good at the
- 1:25:13beginning of the second one is so good.
- 1:25:15Everything about it is is good. Everything.
- 1:25:18Is really good, yeah. So does this movie hit different
- 1:25:22as a parent A? Million percent.
- 1:25:26A million percent. It does.
- 1:25:28So the scene where they're told that Dalton is in a coma is
- 1:25:31every parent's worst nightmare. It's absolutely horrifying.
- 1:25:35And as a parent, you obviously put yourself in a situation
- 1:25:39where you would be going through that OHP my.
- 1:25:43God and it's on it's. Unfathomable.
- 1:25:46I forgot that that kids in the coma for three months.
- 1:25:49It's fucked. That's.
- 1:25:51My worst fucking that would. That would just destroy like I,
- 1:25:54I, you know what, the one thing I'm like, oh, it's not really
- 1:25:56realistic, but I, I, I don't know.
- 1:25:58I never been through that. I don't wanna ever be through
- 1:26:00that. But three months and they're,
- 1:26:02you know, Rose Byrne looks the same.
- 1:26:04She doesn't look. I like if something like that
- 1:26:07happened I would be just in at the bottom of a bottle, no?
- 1:26:12She looks frazzled. Her hair is all messed up, like
- 1:26:14she looks like she's. Going through like I, I don't
- 1:26:16even know what I would do. I'd be just a complete mess.
- 1:26:20I don't think I'd be working. There's no way.
- 1:26:23Like you'd be a train wreck also.
- 1:26:24Yeah, but that's. Something, he said.
- 1:26:25Who do you think is gonna pay for Dalton's medical bills?
- 1:26:27Yeah, I know, but. Who?
- 1:26:28Nothing happened for three months.
- 1:26:30The guy was in a coma. Nothing happened.
- 1:26:32Well, because. The doctor said.
- 1:26:33Like he's not brain damaged, like there's not actually any.
- 1:26:36Demonic style, like nothing happened, it was quiet and then
- 1:26:40all of a sudden shit starts happening again after three
- 1:26:42months. Also the scene where the nurse
- 1:26:44is explaining like how to put the pipe in the kid's nose and
- 1:26:48replace it and stuff like that. Like that whole scene, it's a
- 1:26:52minute or two and it's long. And like that is every parent's
- 1:26:56worst nightmare. Having to listen to a nurse
- 1:27:00explain that to you or something worse.
- 1:27:02That is every parent's nightmare.
- 1:27:04And I felt so bad for his little brother.
- 1:27:06He won an award at school, but he like I know.
- 1:27:08He gets neglected. No, he.
- 1:27:10Didn't show his parents because he's like, they're sad like I
- 1:27:13don't want to show them but he's also.
- 1:27:15Being a bit neglected like he has.
- 1:27:16He has a baby sibling and a sibling in a coma.
- 1:27:19Like, how much time is gonna be left for foster?
- 1:27:21Almost none, yeah. Well, like I said, this movie,
- 1:27:24it fucking hits different as a parent, like everything.
- 1:27:28The morning sequence when they're getting ready for
- 1:27:30school, I'm like, yo, this is too real.
- 1:27:32The baby crying, the fear of something happening to your baby
- 1:27:36in the crib, like in their room, the monitor, something crazy
- 1:27:40happening to the monitor, people breaking into your home.
- 1:27:43Like there's so many things that as a parent, like you protect
- 1:27:46your kid, you wish safety for your kids.
- 1:27:50This movie really just knocks on all those rings, all those
- 1:27:53bells, and you're just like, Oh no, no, it's really fucked,
- 1:27:57honestly. I don't know.
- 1:27:58It's it's also just like very relatable, like Renee telling
- 1:28:01Josh, oh, the baby wouldn't nap properly.
- 1:28:04So I couldn't get anything done like that could.
- 1:28:07I say. That you all the time and I'm
- 1:28:09like, oh, she didn't nap properly today and I was gonna,
- 1:28:11you know, clean this when she was napping.
- 1:28:13I was going to do that while she's napping you.
- 1:28:15Tell me every night we were gonna go, we put my ice cream
- 1:28:19on. Yeah.
- 1:28:20Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 1:28:21We were like, it's like we were going to go to the grocery
- 1:28:23store, but her naps were messed up, so I couldn't actually end
- 1:28:25up leaving the house. So I was going to do this.
- 1:28:27It's gonna do that. And then also, um, her asking
- 1:28:31Josh if he's taking the boys to school in the morning and he's
- 1:28:33like, I can't, That's, that's me.
- 1:28:35And you, someone's like, can you please just take him to daycare
- 1:28:37and you're like, I'm gonna be late for work.
- 1:28:39Yeah. Can't do it, sorry.
- 1:28:41Eating plastic apples in the morning?
- 1:28:43You would. Never.
- 1:28:44It was a wax, apple, whatever. But you're not an idiot like
- 1:28:47him. He's not.
- 1:28:47An idiot, He's a. Fucking idiot.
- 1:28:49Oh my gosh. He too much anyway.
- 1:28:51Also little little shout out Patrick Wilson.
- 1:28:54He does a remix to Al Pacino Godfather Part 3 quote when he
- 1:28:58pulls the white hair. One of us.
- 1:28:59Yeah, I. Noticed that which I really.
- 1:29:01Appreciate it. I thought it was pretty cool,
- 1:29:04but yeah, this movie is amazing. It's terrifying.
- 1:29:07If you want to shit your pants even more, watch it as a parent.
- 1:29:11If you've seen it before having kids and watch it now,
- 1:29:14especially if you're a parent of some young small children or
- 1:29:17even a baby, you will probably turn the movie off because.
- 1:29:22No, it's still really good and really scary, but it does, it
- 1:29:24does tap into an even deeper fear as a parent.
- 1:29:28So you have to, you have to really be prepared for that
- 1:29:31going in. Yeah, you got long haired fiend.
- 1:29:35You got Darth Maul taking your kid and then using the coma for
- 1:29:40three months off? Fuck that I know.
- 1:29:44And he's scared when he's talking to them through a lease.
- 1:29:46Yeah, 1. Thing I noticed too, when the
- 1:29:48long haired friend is standing behind the baby's crib, behind
- 1:29:51the veil, the baby's standing up.
- 1:29:54Oh opposite. Like give me the fuck out of
- 1:29:57here. Like I felt so bad for that
- 1:29:59little baby Kelly. Yeah.
- 1:30:02Also that monitor, if they had a video monitor or I don't even
- 1:30:05want to know what they would see.
- 1:30:07I don't want to know either. I want to.
- 1:30:09I want now. OK, how many gas masks out of 10
- 1:30:13do you give this movie? Gas masks cause she puts on that
- 1:30:17gas. Mask and she's talking to A to
- 1:30:20specs I. Give this movie fucking 10 out
- 1:30:23of 10 gas masks 10 oh 10 out of 10.
- 1:30:27It's still you will shit your pants watching this.
- 1:30:30I don't care who you are, I give it. 8 out of 10 it's really
- 1:30:33good, but it's not a 10 out of 10 I.
- 1:30:35Give it a 10. I love this movie soundtrack.
- 1:30:38The sound. The characters, the story is
- 1:30:41just so like it's super relatable and it's low budget
- 1:30:46and it, it started off a whole chain of fucking epic horror
- 1:30:50movies. Like this is the, the, the base
- 1:30:52recipe, man, this was it. This way slapped so hard.
- 1:30:56And I don't care who you are, I don't care how I don't believe
- 1:31:00in demons. I don't believe in ghosts.
- 1:31:02Sit down, put this fucking movie on.
- 1:31:04Don't turn the volume down when scary stuff is about to start,
- 1:31:08leave the fucking volume. Because my brother used to do
- 1:31:11that. We watch scary movies and you
- 1:31:12just see him like tapping the volume and you just see the
- 1:31:14volume meter going down and then the jump scare would happen and
- 1:31:18he's like those movies and scary.
- 1:31:19I'm like, fucking leave the movie.
- 1:31:21That's like audio is 50% of the experience.
- 1:31:28It's true, and it's very, very important in this movie, Yeah.
- 1:31:30And it's even just the soundtrack, like it's amazing.
- 1:31:34This movie is phenomenal and it'll scare anybody.
- 1:31:37And we're showing this to your parents, alright?
- 1:31:39Well, you can convince them to fucking show.
- 1:31:41This to your parents. All right, everybody, that was
- 1:31:44Insidious. I hope you enjoyed this, this
