- 0:00Speaker 1: Final segment with Coachoriama, and we're really do a live
- 0:03Speaker 1: show on Tuesday night. It'll be at the Dunkin Music
- 0:05Speaker 1: Lounge here at Hartford at iHeartRadio. That'll be between six
- 0:08Speaker 1: and seven and you can join us for that right
- 0:10Speaker 1: here in the Yukon Sports Network.
- 0:12Speaker 2: All Right.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We mentioned Page a little bit in the last segment
- 0:15Speaker 1: because you know, not getting enough foul calls, she feels.
- 0:18Speaker 1: But she's about as efficient as you could ask, you know,
- 0:21Speaker 1: for a guard, sixty one percent from the field, forty
- 0:25Speaker 1: seven percent from three point land and she's leading your
- 0:28Speaker 1: team and assists and second and steals pretty good so far.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean she was a national
- 0:39Speaker 3: player to hear as a freshman, right right, and that's
- 0:44Speaker 3: only gotten better. It's just that she's been below the
- 0:48Speaker 3: radar for a year and a half because she hasn't
- 0:50Speaker 3: played much and she's been so anxious to play, and
- 0:55Speaker 3: she's been a lot more aggressive, a lot more assertive,
- 1:00Speaker 3: a lot more creative creative. So I think the uh,
- 1:09Speaker 3: the efficiency part is something she takes tremendous pride in.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Its players have.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it drives her crazy when she hears about all
- 1:17Speaker 3: these players getting all this recognition that shoot thirty percent
- 1:21Speaker 3: from the floor, you know, take twenty five shots every night.
- 1:27Speaker 3: So it's it's a point of pride for her, and
- 1:33Speaker 3: I think that it's it's it's even better. I think
- 1:36Speaker 3: it could get even better because there are days in
- 1:39Speaker 3: practice where you know, it's seventy five percent from the
- 1:43Speaker 3: floor and it's you know, fifty five or sixty percent
- 1:46Speaker 3: from the three point line, and so there's a lot
- 1:50Speaker 3: more there that she can give us. But having having
- 1:59Speaker 3: easy come back, have more good players around her has
- 2:02Speaker 3: actually made it easier for her to do more.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, what about defensively? G know, how is she grown defensive?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Later time you're at you cun.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Well, you notice she's never in foult trouble, right, So
- 2:14Speaker 3: that's a perfect example what I'm talking about. Yeah, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 3: she's a she's a very good off the ball defender.
- 2:24Speaker 3: You know, she's like it's like when the Keisher was here,
- 2:29Speaker 3: you know, or Angel mccultry. When we played against Angel.
- 2:36Speaker 3: The way to attack them is throw the ball to
- 2:39Speaker 3: the guy they're guarding, because they can't guard their man.
- 2:42Speaker 3: But if you try to throw it to anybody else,
- 2:45Speaker 3: they end up with a steal. Yeah, So some people
- 2:50Speaker 3: just have a knack for where the ball's going, and
- 2:53Speaker 3: it's usually really good offensive players. They can't understand what
- 2:57Speaker 3: the offense is trying to do and they can anticipate
- 3:00Speaker 3: where it's going to go next. Doesn't catch her by surprise, right,
- 3:04Speaker 3: So she's a terrific golf ball defender. You know obviously
- 3:08Speaker 3: where she's going next year to play, She's gonna have
- 3:10Speaker 3: to be better on the ball. But she's a very
- 3:16Speaker 3: very intelligent defender.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Right where you got your old friend Jeff Walls to
- 3:20Speaker 1: meet up with on Saturday night against Louisville And we'll
- 3:23Speaker 1: play them in Germany as well next November.
- 3:24Speaker 2: We haven't even talked about that at all.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But they're coming off a tough loss to Oklahoma last
- 3:30Speaker 1: night where they got out scored like twenty nine to twelve.
- 3:32Speaker 2: In the fourth they got in the foul trouble.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But I noticed there's a lot of and it's kind
- 3:37Speaker 1: of similar to what your team has a lot of
- 3:39Speaker 1: some experience, like Olivia Cochran, but they also have a
- 3:42Speaker 1: lot of youth on this team, including an impressive freshman
- 3:44Speaker 1: from San Diego.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they are kind of in a similar situation as
- 3:51Speaker 3: we are. You know Jeff has he's he's used the
- 4:00Speaker 3: portal really well over the years. I kid him all
- 4:05Speaker 3: the time. He doesn't go recruiting anymore. He just watches
- 4:07Speaker 3: films of other teams and decides which players he wants
- 4:10Speaker 3: from the other teams. So when those guys leave, you know,
- 4:15Speaker 3: you're you're Sometimes you're caught with a lot of young
- 4:18Speaker 3: players that have to play a lot, and they're talented.
- 4:20Speaker 3: He's got a talented group. The kid Amari Barry, Imani Barry,
- 4:31Speaker 3: excuse me. We recruited her and she's going to be
- 4:35Speaker 3: a really good player for him. She's another freshman. Zach
- 4:37Speaker 3: Randolph's daughter is going to be a good player. So yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 3: they're young and probably similar to us. When they're going good,
- 4:46Speaker 3: they're really good. And then when it kind of starts
- 4:48Speaker 3: to go sideways like did in the fourth quarter, for them,
- 4:51Speaker 3: it's you know, it's hard, but you know, we always
- 4:56Speaker 3: have great matchups with them, and I you know, I
- 4:58Speaker 3: would think this one's uncle to be any different.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And the Arena's kid, that's Gilbert's daughter.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I believe, so yes, oh yeah, yeah, Gilbert Arenas's daughter.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah pretty well, Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You know you're you're playing Louisville and Germany next November.
- 5:12Speaker 1: How did that game come about?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Well, you know a lot of these people are putting
- 5:18Speaker 3: together these events, whether it's an independent source, uh, whether
- 5:23Speaker 3: it's the Bahamas thing, and this was you know, ESPN
- 5:29Speaker 3: wanted to put together a game over there. We have
- 5:34Speaker 3: been working with ESPN years ago when they first decided
- 5:42Speaker 3: to do an Armed Source Armed Services Classic, because they
- 5:49Speaker 3: were doing with the men and our men. Yeah, first game,
- 5:55Speaker 3: that's right where we're going. So they've always done it
- 5:58Speaker 3: on the men's side, and then they wanted to do
- 6:00Speaker 3: it on the women's side with us, and then something
- 6:03Speaker 3: got in the way, and so it's always been there
- 6:07Speaker 3: on the back burner, and you know, this is how
- 6:10Speaker 3: it came about. And we were you know, we were
- 6:14Speaker 3: thrilled to get the opportunity to do it. And it's
- 6:17Speaker 3: going to be one of the I think most fun
- 6:19Speaker 3: things that that our players will ever be a part of.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I certainly agree with that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And then this is kind of the same thing with
- 6:26Speaker 1: what you've got coming up this weekend. It's not just
- 6:28Speaker 1: you kind of Louisville's Tennessee and Iowa. It's the first
- 6:31Speaker 1: champions event for women's basketball and this is what Fox driven.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Correct, Yeah, yeah, the men have the men have had
- 6:38Speaker 3: one of these for a long long time. It's the
- 6:40Speaker 3: same teams every year, just different opponents, you know. You know,
- 6:46Speaker 3: they know they have Kansas and Duke and Kentucky and
- 6:48Speaker 3: Michigan State. And I don't know how the teams will
- 6:54Speaker 3: break break down going forward. You know, these four, So
- 7:00Speaker 3: you're playing this year and maybe the exact same four
- 7:04Speaker 3: next year. Maybe it was a two year deal, but
- 7:06Speaker 3: I know we're in it for the duration of the contract.
- 7:11Speaker 3: We're kind of the hosts, you know. So that's a
- 7:13Speaker 3: good thing.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Now. I know you've never played in the Barclays Center,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but I know you've been to the Barclays Center, correct.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been there a bunch of times, and it's great.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It's a really great building. And obviously it has good vibes.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You know, there's there's been some great Yukon players playing there,
- 7:31Speaker 3: especially this past playoff scenario.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Well, maybe the ghosts of the Brooklyn Dodgers will show
- 7:36Speaker 2: up this weekend.
- 7:37Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I see it's on flat Bush Abnue right at flat
- 7:40Speaker 1: Bush is one of the roads.
- 7:41Speaker 3: So that's right, that's right. Only the Brooklyn Dodgers that
- 7:45Speaker 3: actually want, not the bums.
- 7:48Speaker 2: We'll see how that works out.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Well, Gil Hodges and Jackie Robinson may may pop out someday.
- 7:53Speaker 2: We'll see you go, all right. Maybe you don't think
- 7:55Speaker 2: it was always We'll talk to you Saturday night.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe we'll put Duke Snyder in the back court
- 8:00Speaker 3: with Page. See how that goes.
- 8:01Speaker 1: There, you go, you kind of women's basketball coaches show
- 8:04Speaker 1: coming up here in.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Just a minute. Here Onlearfield, stay with us.
