- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Davey Kent, and Jennifer Kessler. Hi, guys, welcome back to
- 0:13Speaker 2: another episode of Dirty Rush. Today I have on a
- 0:15Speaker 2: special guest who was very much involved in sorority life
- 0:19Speaker 2: at a school in the Midwest. She's a good friend
- 0:22Speaker 2: of mine and also in a new season of The Valley.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Janet Caperna. Welcome to Dirty Rush. Hi my friend you guys.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So Janet and I met. It was the BMA's right,
- 0:32Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I heard awards.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Oh it was I heeard awards. Excuse me, excuse me,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yes it was. We sat next to each other, right, yes,
- 0:39Speaker 2: and we had the best time. I was like, who
- 0:41Speaker 2: is this lovely, lovely woman? And we had a couple
- 0:46Speaker 2: of the other cast members from about from the Valley
- 0:48Speaker 2: next to us as well. Right, that was a fun night. Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah. It was Britney's date for that, so always a
- 0:52Speaker 1: fun night to get to be Britney's date.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So all right, so I want to talk
- 0:57Speaker 2: a little valley. But first, since this is Dirty Rush,
- 1:02Speaker 2: tell me where you went to school or tell us
- 1:04Speaker 2: where'd you go to school. What sorority were you in
- 1:06Speaker 2: all of that?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, So I went to Ohio University, not to
- 1:10Speaker 1: be mistaken with the Ohio State University, which is like
- 1:13Speaker 1: the buck wise. Ohio University is like an hour and
- 1:16Speaker 1: a half southeast, a smaller school. And I was an
- 1:20Speaker 1: English major there, and I was a Kiomega there, so
- 1:24Speaker 1: it's a Tao Alpha chapter of Kiomega there.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So I was an English major too. I don't know
- 1:32Speaker 2: that I ever used that degree for anything maybe you know. No,
- 1:36Speaker 2: it did not really serve me. I just like to read.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that was me too. I was like it was
- 1:41Speaker 1: nice actually, the balance between also being a sorority girl
- 1:44Speaker 1: and kind of having that social aspect of something and
- 1:47Speaker 1: then getting to go like be with all my like
- 1:49Speaker 1: nerd English majors. Yes, read and write.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It was like just a balance, yep, yep. So okay,
- 1:55Speaker 2: first of all, well let me just go back just
- 1:57Speaker 2: for a minute. Where did you grow up.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I grew up in Dublin, Ohio, so just outside of Columbus,
- 2:02Speaker 1: where the Ohio State University is. So I never wanted
- 2:06Speaker 1: to like go to Ohio State because it was too
- 2:09Speaker 1: close to home. It was like fifteen minutes from my
- 2:10Speaker 1: mom's house, So Ohio University was like an hour and
- 2:13Speaker 1: a half drive. I was like, if I'm that far away,
- 2:15Speaker 1: my mom won't be able to like pop in every
- 2:18Speaker 1: day if she was, Yeah, I have to plan a
- 2:20Speaker 1: trip down to visit me. So Hire University was like
- 2:24Speaker 1: known as being a party school, and at the time
- 2:26Speaker 1: in high school, I was like, that sounded really nice.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you. Well, did you have friends from
- 2:31Speaker 2: your high school that went with you?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah? It wasn't, as a lot of my high school
- 2:35Speaker 1: went to Ohio State, but I would say there was
- 2:37Speaker 1: probably like fifteen or so kids from my high school
- 2:41Speaker 1: that went to OU and but not a lot of
- 2:44Speaker 1: them ended up in Greek life. So that was kind
- 2:47Speaker 1: of like my separate thing that I could do. That
- 2:50Speaker 1: just kind of separated me to from like having a
- 2:53Speaker 1: break from like my high school friends.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah, what made you want to rush?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Honestly, I just thought it would interesting. It felt very
- 3:01Speaker 1: college like, and I was excited for college. I wanted
- 3:04Speaker 1: like to be able just to start over. High school
- 3:06Speaker 1: was fine and like, you know, fun for me, but
- 3:08Speaker 1: I really liked the idea of like having a fresh
- 3:11Speaker 1: start and like being able to kind of I don't know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: carve my own path have like, yeah, I don't know,
- 3:16Speaker 1: a new chapter in life. Yeah, every time I felt
- 3:19Speaker 1: like I saw, you know a lot of stuff about
- 3:21Speaker 1: sorority fraternity greek life in movies, and so I was like, okay,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you know like ell Woods and legally of course, of
- 3:28Speaker 1: course of my generation. So I felt like, I was like,
- 3:32Speaker 1: this is just what you do in college, you like,
- 3:34Speaker 1: find your sorority house. And it just felt very very
- 3:36Speaker 1: college to me.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You know, it's so funny that you say that, because
- 3:40Speaker 2: I started out at Boston University and I transferred from Texas.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I transferred back to University of Texas, and I think
- 3:48Speaker 2: a lot of that was about that. I just didn't
- 3:50Speaker 2: feel like I was having that kind of college experience
- 3:55Speaker 2: that that hole the fun of greek life and big campus.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Although you was big, but it's a whole different scene.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's the city school, right, and sports and football and
- 4:05Speaker 2: all of that. And I think that was you know
- 4:07Speaker 2: a lot of why I transferred from you. I wanted
- 4:11Speaker 2: I wanted all of that traditional stuff, right.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I want a typical college life, which honestly,
- 4:17Speaker 1: like I know, I've listened to a couple episodes of
- 4:19Speaker 1: this podcast, and I feel like there's two kind of
- 4:22Speaker 1: routes that people have with their opinions of greek life.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And I feel like the bigger schools and especially the
- 4:27Speaker 1: more southern schools where greek life is like seventy percent
- 4:30Speaker 1: of campus is in a fraternity or sorority, rightybe, I
- 4:34Speaker 1: feel like the more negative experience and like the high
- 4:36Speaker 1: pressure circumstances. Then, Like my school was a smaller school.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I mean we had like sixteen thousand students I think
- 4:43Speaker 1: when I was there, and I think like ten or
- 4:46Speaker 1: fifteen percent were in Greek life. So it wasn't like
- 4:49Speaker 1: those pressure campus. Yeah, it wasn't like everyone did it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It was sort of a little like niche group. It
- 4:55Speaker 1: was sort of like, all right, if you're not doing
- 4:56Speaker 1: a sport, if you're not in a club, like greek
- 4:59Speaker 1: life would be kind of a thing you could do.
- 5:00Speaker 1: But it wasn't like a mandatory thing and there wasn't
- 5:03Speaker 1: a lot of pressure to do it. So I had
- 5:06Speaker 1: a really good experience with it, and like I put
- 5:09Speaker 1: back on my sorority days fondly. But I know a
- 5:12Speaker 1: lot of people don't.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well, I mean I was talking about this
- 5:16Speaker 2: with another guest, but the pressure of it, we were
- 5:19Speaker 2: actually talking a lot about. She was saying that she
- 5:22Speaker 2: felt a little bit less than she didn't have a
- 5:25Speaker 2: lot of the girls, and she was also into a
- 5:28Speaker 2: southern school, but they had the money to get decked
- 5:31Speaker 2: and the outfits were over the top. And I felt
- 5:34Speaker 2: that way as well. Physically, I just didn't feel like
- 5:37Speaker 2: I measured up. I don't know how you felt going
- 5:41Speaker 2: through it. I mean, your beautiful, you know woman, and
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'm sure you were just as beautiful then, but like
- 5:47Speaker 2: in terms of like outfits that you wore or just
- 5:49Speaker 2: the physical piece of it, how did you feel about
- 5:51Speaker 2: all that?
- 5:52Speaker 1: It was not the high pressure thing. We were not
- 5:54Speaker 1: getting glam for this, like he was getting professional makeup done.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean we cared about, like, you know, what dresses
- 6:01Speaker 1: and stuff we were wearing. We wanted to look cute
- 6:03Speaker 1: for everything. It was like we were going to forever
- 6:05Speaker 1: twenty one and getting like whatever color. I feel like
- 6:08Speaker 1: each of our days Because I like Gia talked about
- 6:12Speaker 1: her experience, I feel like mine was very similar. And
- 6:14Speaker 1: then it took like three weekends where you were spending
- 6:16Speaker 1: your Saturday and Sunday rushing, and there were different nights
- 6:20Speaker 1: and we had like different colored outfits. So like one
- 6:22Speaker 1: of the nights they want us to wear a black dress,
- 6:24Speaker 1: one of them they wanted a red dress. But it
- 6:26Speaker 1: was really low stakes and that we weren't buying like
- 6:29Speaker 1: designer stuff by any means. We weren't spending any more
- 6:32Speaker 1: time getting ready for this than we would any other
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know day going out in college.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Really low stakes. To me, it felt it felt fun
- 6:40Speaker 1: and there were definitely like you know, reputations for each
- 6:43Speaker 1: sorority house, like the one I ended up joining was
- 6:47Speaker 1: like more like the blonde sorority house with like we
- 6:50Speaker 1: had the best grades, which honestly now I credit to
- 6:55Speaker 1: like graduating on time and having good grades in college
- 6:58Speaker 1: because I wasn't the greatest student in high school. But
- 7:02Speaker 1: in the sorority, if you if your GPA dropped below
- 7:05Speaker 1: a certain point, you couldn't go to any reprobation right
- 7:08Speaker 1: right and then or you would get kicked out if
- 7:11Speaker 1: you were you know, had multiple semesters in a row
- 7:13Speaker 1: where you weren't making grades. So it really like that
- 7:17Speaker 1: motivated me. I was like, I want to go to
- 7:19Speaker 1: all the parties I don't want to be put on
- 7:21Speaker 1: social probation, so my is always number one in grades,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and I really like I think that had a bit
- 7:26Speaker 1: of big effect on me.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Oh my god, I have to say at least not
- 7:30Speaker 2: I don't remember time talking with one of my guests
- 7:33Speaker 2: them saying that beinging to Soorty help so much with
- 7:36Speaker 2: their grades. I think that is really interesting. And to
- 7:40Speaker 2: a lot of our listeners who are considering rushing or
- 7:43Speaker 2: already like that is that's a fabulous, you know advantage.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I don't know that a lot of people would would
- 7:50Speaker 2: credit their sorority with good grades, but I guess that's
- 7:54Speaker 2: you know, it happens. I don't.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we also went We had a computer lab, which
- 7:58Speaker 1: now I'm looking back is like so out with like
- 8:00Speaker 1: actual desktop computers. And we had a filing cabinet that
- 8:04Speaker 1: had all of the former girl's notes from classes. So like,
- 8:08Speaker 1: if you were taking ECON one oh one, right, go
- 8:10Speaker 1: to the filing cabinet, pull up all of the ECON
- 8:13Speaker 1: professor's names, and then you could pull all the notes
- 8:16Speaker 1: that the girls took previously in that class.
- 8:18Speaker 2: She eat your ass off, And it wasn't cheating.
- 8:20Speaker 1: It was more like study guides or like if you
- 8:22Speaker 1: missed a day of class, it was like, all right, well,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I can just go and get somebody else's notes. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: don't have to like be worried about taking the best
- 8:29Speaker 1: notes the entire tay. And then if you did take
- 8:31Speaker 1: like really good notes on a class, you would drop
- 8:33Speaker 1: them in the filing cabinet and be like, all right,
- 8:35Speaker 1: the girls after me, you're going to love those. Wow.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That also was like a big help, like being like, okay,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I can at least like go look at somebody else's
- 8:43Speaker 1: notes if I'm like not doing well in the class.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so because I don't remember my daughter really
- 8:49Speaker 2: even talking about not being able to go to parties
- 8:53Speaker 2: if her grades were I know my son talked about that,
- 8:56Speaker 2: and I want to say there was one semester where
- 8:58Speaker 2: he was close to getting put on probation and it
- 9:03Speaker 2: definitely kicked his ass because we don't talk about that
- 9:05Speaker 2: a lot on the pod about how can actually give
- 9:10Speaker 2: you that, you know, motivate you a little bit in
- 9:12Speaker 2: terms of.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Your curly I got put on social probation once I
- 9:16Speaker 1: think freshman or sow you do okay, not for grades.
- 9:19Speaker 1: This was so bad looking back our swordyhouse. Actually we
- 9:23Speaker 1: did not bring guys back to the house. You could
- 9:24Speaker 1: have guys in the main areas, like in the living
- 9:27Speaker 1: room like until I don't know, nine pm or something,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and like till maybe eleven or something on the weekends,
- 9:34Speaker 1: but other than that, like guys were never upstairs in
- 9:37Speaker 1: the hallways or in people's bedrooms ever. And I was like,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I always liked that, Like when I lived in the house,
- 9:43Speaker 1: it felt safe. You could walk around a towel or
- 9:45Speaker 1: bathrobe and you weren't worried about like bumping into somebody's
- 9:48Speaker 1: boyfriend or hooking up. But before I lived in the house,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I didn't. I was like, oh, that can't be like
- 9:54Speaker 1: a real rule. And we had a rooftop deck that,
- 9:58Speaker 1: like you we would like lay out and like suntan on.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And one of the fraternity guys that I met freshman
- 10:05Speaker 1: year was like, let's go smoke pot on the kyo
- 10:08Speaker 1: deck and I was like, yeah, sure, I'm sure, Like
- 10:10Speaker 1: that's probably what they do every weekend. I bet they're
- 10:12Speaker 1: like smoking all the time. And so me, not even
- 10:16Speaker 1: living in the house, snuck a guy in the house
- 10:19Speaker 1: up to the rooftop and we were like smoking to
- 10:22Speaker 1: joint up there.
- 10:23Speaker 2: You and I had been best friends in college.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I was in college. It was a big, big stoner
- 10:28Speaker 1: and so the older girls were like, what are you
- 10:31Speaker 1: What do you think you're doing? Like this was so ballsy?
- 10:34Speaker 2: Oh dare you truly?
- 10:36Speaker 1: They were like, we don't even bring our boyfriends here,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and you're going to bring some random guy freshman over
- 10:41Speaker 1: to smoke pot. Like good for you you're doing. And so
- 10:44Speaker 1: I got put on social probation, which now to this
- 10:47Speaker 1: day I credit a marriage and three kids too. Because
- 10:51Speaker 1: we were I missed our like yearly uh date party,
- 10:55Speaker 1: which was Uncle Buck's, which was like a like you
- 10:58Speaker 1: dressed up in cowboy themed stuff and it was like
- 11:00Speaker 1: in a barn in the middle of nowhere with a
- 11:02Speaker 1: DJ and we would just like dance and everybody brought
- 11:05Speaker 1: a date. And I was supposed to bring one of
- 11:08Speaker 1: my guy friends who was in the same fraternity as
- 11:10Speaker 1: the boy I snuck in to smoke weed. I was like, Jimmy,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I can't bring you to the date party. I'm on
- 11:16Speaker 1: social probation, and he was like, man, I really wanted
- 11:18Speaker 1: to go, Like that's it was like one of the
- 11:21Speaker 1: hot date parties of the year. Everybody.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I was like, my friend Jess just got dumped. Why
- 11:26Speaker 1: don't I see if she can bring you and you guys,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know you might actually like her, and that they
- 11:31Speaker 1: started dating after that, end up getting married and now
- 11:33Speaker 1: they have three kids together. So thank god that I
- 11:36Speaker 1: ended up being put on social probation because I like,
- 11:39Speaker 1: set up this couple that's like now been together for
- 11:41Speaker 1: like fifteen years.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Look at you go. I thought you were going to
- 11:46Speaker 2: say that it was the reason that you got buried
- 11:48Speaker 2: and had three kids, and I'm like trying to I
- 11:51Speaker 2: was like, wait a second, I have to configure everything
- 11:53Speaker 2: for right, Okay, Because I.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Was in trouble and I couldn't bring him as my date,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I set him up with my friend and they're still
- 11:58Speaker 1: together till this day.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Doing good, doing God's work. Baby. Yes, absolutely, So tell
- 12:19Speaker 2: me a little bit about in terms of the parties,
- 12:22Speaker 2: like what were they wild? Was everyone getting wasted? Was
- 12:25Speaker 2: because now there's so many rules around them?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Right?
- 12:27Speaker 2: And yeah, so was it? Did you have any experiences
- 12:32Speaker 2: that you want to share a party girl A little bit?
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah? I was social chair, my I want to say
- 12:38Speaker 1: jun and that the whole thing about social Chair was
- 12:42Speaker 1: like we weren't allowed to use the social budget on alcohol,
- 12:46Speaker 1: so we had to like find they would give us
- 12:48Speaker 1: a check or like cash and that we could take out,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but we had to like account for what we were
- 12:53Speaker 1: using it for. So really the job of social chair
- 12:56Speaker 1: was like I don't know exactly what laundering money is,
- 12:58Speaker 1: but I feel like that's what I was doing, being like, oh,
- 13:02Speaker 1: we're like using this is like cups and decorations and
- 13:06Speaker 1: food and this. You would just like make a list
- 13:10Speaker 1: and like write out the accounting for what we were
- 13:12Speaker 1: using the money for. You like two hundred dollars a party,
- 13:16Speaker 1: which now looking back and wow, why a party for
- 13:19Speaker 1: like I mean, this was like almost one hundred girls
- 13:21Speaker 1: in my sorority one hundred fraternity guys, so like under
- 13:25Speaker 1: five hundred bucks between the two, you know, sorority fraternity
- 13:29Speaker 1: like to throw like a party for that many people
- 13:32Speaker 1: and cover the booze for that many people is kind
- 13:34Speaker 1: of insane, but yeah, we would throw it would all
- 13:37Speaker 1: all the money would end up going to like Natty Light.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It was like the gross beer that we would get.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Oh right, Natty Right, that's who said I just learned
- 13:45Speaker 2: with that list, there's a Morgan wallin song. Oh it's yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So it always it all ended up. I think you
- 13:53Speaker 1: could get a thirty pack of Natty Light back in
- 13:56Speaker 1: my college is for eleven ninety nine, we could get
- 13:59Speaker 1: like a couple hundred dollars worth of Natty Light and
- 14:03Speaker 1: all the parties we would do themes, so we would
- 14:05Speaker 1: do like sports themes where everybody's in jerseys. One night
- 14:08Speaker 1: we would do like can you think of some of
- 14:10Speaker 1: the other good ones we did, but we all we
- 14:13Speaker 1: do like the like boat Hose and something like golf
- 14:17Speaker 1: pros and boat Hose would be like one of them
- 14:19Speaker 1: where like all the guys would dress up in like
- 14:22Speaker 1: polos and golf stuff and we would be in like
- 14:24Speaker 1: basically bikinis. Right, We would all do like theme parties.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It would almost always be in a gross fratthouse basement
- 14:31Speaker 1: and we would just hug in Natty.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Lights the whole day. It's hilarious.
- 14:35Speaker 1: It's like my mom was ended up paying for my
- 14:37Speaker 1: beer budget because you know, she made the sorority dues
- 14:40Speaker 1: that then ended up going to the social fund that
- 14:42Speaker 1: I was then you know, like sneaking ways to find
- 14:45Speaker 1: to buy Natty Light with.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Anything like about just being the social chair that our
- 14:50Speaker 2: listeners may be interested in, or would you do it again?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Would you want to be social chair again? Was? I mean,
- 14:54Speaker 2: it's still a lot of work.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I thought it was the most fun of the jobs,
- 14:58Speaker 1: like president vice president, because you had to like get
- 15:01Speaker 1: people in trouble and be in people's.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Like appropriation meetings.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Social chair everybody loved, like there wouldn't be your party girl. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 1: I would be like, oh, thanks, like you got you
- 15:11Speaker 1: managed to get the beer covered, so it would be
- 15:14Speaker 1: a really fun job. And I would say, like if
- 15:16Speaker 1: if you don't take things too seriously, that's like the
- 15:19Speaker 1: position for you.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I didn't feel like it didn't feel like
- 15:22Speaker 2: work as much for you, right, I don't.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Think there was. I mean I had to go to
- 15:26Speaker 1: like the executive board chapter meetings with like the president,
- 15:30Speaker 1: vice president, you know, accounting chair. I'm trying to think
- 15:33Speaker 1: of some of the other positions we had, but like
- 15:35Speaker 1: you know, mine was just like everybody knew that, like
- 15:38Speaker 1: my main job was like making sure that our advisors
- 15:41Speaker 1: didn't find out what you're spending the money on beer.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's definitely what I would want. That would
- 15:46Speaker 2: be the role that I would be interested in absolutely.
- 15:49Speaker 2: How did you get it? How did you become social chair?
- 15:52Speaker 2: I think we.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Voted for people, and you know, I think I got it.
- 15:55Speaker 1: This is like I said, I was like a stoner
- 15:57Speaker 1: in college. That was like like my and my sorority
- 16:01Speaker 1: was like, you know, we were the good grades. Like
- 16:03Speaker 1: I was like kind of like the odd man out
- 16:05Speaker 1: in that sense, like not a lot of my other
- 16:07Speaker 1: sorority girls like were like smoking weed with me. I
- 16:09Speaker 1: would like, go, I was like friends with a lot
- 16:11Speaker 1: of the frat guys, and we would like I would
- 16:13Speaker 1: like be like their bro and like smoke points with them.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But there was one what was it a really important
- 16:20Speaker 1: ceremony that we were doing. I think it was, Oh
- 16:23Speaker 1: it was our initiation when we were bringing in new members.
- 16:27Speaker 1: And this was like a really serious ceremony where we
- 16:29Speaker 1: were all in the basement. We were all wearing like
- 16:31Speaker 1: white robes, and we would read from like the scripture
- 16:35Speaker 1: of the sorority. So it's like it looks like a
- 16:38Speaker 1: church service. And the initiation ceremony happened to fall on
- 16:44Speaker 1: four twenty one year, which is like you know the
- 16:46Speaker 1: stoner results right right, And I was like, oh, man,
- 16:49Speaker 1: like I remember like begging my friend.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm sorry I don't because I know I only learned
- 16:54Speaker 2: about it through my kids. What it is like the
- 16:56Speaker 2: pot It's like pot National Pot Day or something.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's like Bob Marley's birth is the
- 17:01Speaker 1: drum or something like that. But like four twenty has
- 17:03Speaker 1: like always been like the weed pot holiday, right, And
- 17:08Speaker 1: so I was like, I was like begging the president.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I'm like, you have to move it from four twenty,
- 17:14Speaker 1: like we're not going to do this, and instead they
- 17:17Speaker 1: wouldn't move it. I was like I got really into
- 17:19Speaker 1: baking in college with weeds, so I would like make
- 17:23Speaker 1: weed butter and like all this stuff and on. So
- 17:26Speaker 1: like the day before four twenty, I made one hundred
- 17:29Speaker 1: weed funfetti cupcakes.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Oh you would have been my best friend. I would
- 17:33Speaker 2: have been I would have I mean still I feel
- 17:36Speaker 2: like you and I just just definitely clicked. But oh
- 17:39Speaker 2: my god, you and I would have been.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Like this right right. So I was like I may
- 17:44Speaker 1: have these little green funfetti cupcakes. And the main thing
- 17:47Speaker 1: was like I was gonna like the frack guys had
- 17:49Speaker 1: given me a bunch of pot and they're like and
- 17:51Speaker 1: then sell them for like five bucks a pop. Okay,
- 17:54Speaker 1: get the sorority girls who want them for initiation. Every
- 17:57Speaker 1: single girl was like, I want one. I kind of
- 17:59Speaker 1: want to try, like if I'm going to be stuck
- 18:01Speaker 1: at home on four to twenty in this initiation ceremony,
- 18:04Speaker 1: And half of these girls had never smoked in their life,
- 18:06Speaker 1: so they were like, all right, here's five bucks. I'm
- 18:08Speaker 1: gonna try pot for the first time, like right whatever.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So every like, I think almost everybody in the sorority
- 18:15Speaker 1: bought a pot cupcake off of me, and we all
- 18:19Speaker 1: ate them right before this ceremony that again is like church,
- 18:22Speaker 1: like we're in like white robes. It's like like like
- 18:26Speaker 1: looking back, like not the place you want to be
- 18:28Speaker 1: stoned for, and so everybody's like eating them. We're all
- 18:31Speaker 1: like what. They're all like, what's gonna happen. I'm like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know, give it like thirty forty five minutes, you're
- 18:35Speaker 1: gonna feel great, giggly. Halfway through the ceremony, everybody loses
- 18:39Speaker 1: their mind. Everybody is cracking up. All of the girls
- 18:43Speaker 1: who are like having to read from like the scripture
- 18:45Speaker 1: are like getting like through like a half a sentence
- 18:48Speaker 1: and like unable to like control themselves like just and
- 18:52Speaker 1: once one person cracked and like sort of think the
- 18:55Speaker 1: whole room would start laughing. We like barely got through it.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I don't think any of the new girls who were
- 19:00Speaker 1: like going through the initiation knew what was going on.
- 19:03Speaker 1: They were like, why are they all right?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Right?
- 19:06Speaker 1: Everybody just ended up getting so stoned in the middle
- 19:09Speaker 1: of this ceremony. So I think that that after that
- 19:12Speaker 1: I got elected.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah there, I think that that makes absolute sense. If
- 19:16Speaker 2: I was there, I would have thought Janet for social chair,
- 19:19Speaker 2: I would have one hundred percent campaigned for you. It
- 19:22Speaker 2: was a natural fit, right, Yeah, it felt.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Like a natural fit, and it was just this like
- 19:26Speaker 1: funny thing. And I still get texts from friends now
- 19:29Speaker 1: who are like, oh, my kids are in bed, it's
- 19:31Speaker 1: four twenty. My husband and I like got edibles, we're
- 19:34Speaker 1: gonna whatever. Do you remember the time that we all
- 19:36Speaker 1: took those weed cupcakes? And like, I will never forget that.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Are you still good friends with a lot of the girls.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I have a couple, So I I probably have ten
- 19:44Speaker 1: girlfriends from my sorority that I stay in touch with
- 19:46Speaker 1: and four that I like, we do like a yearly
- 19:49Speaker 1: trip together every year.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so we're all.
- 19:52Speaker 1: In different parts of the country, but we make a
- 19:54Speaker 1: point we have a group chat, and then we try
- 19:55Speaker 1: like once a year to do like a vacation together somewhere.
- 19:58Speaker 2: That's fun. I love that. Okay, so this is a
- 20:15Speaker 2: little CORNBALI question whatever, but I have to ask do
- 20:18Speaker 2: you feel like being social chair prepared you for I
- 20:22Speaker 2: don't did to prepare you for anything? Did you take
- 20:24Speaker 2: it with you, you know, into your actual life. Do
- 20:28Speaker 2: you feel like it's a role that translates into anything
- 20:31Speaker 2: you're doing now? I mean, obviously we'll talk a little
- 20:34Speaker 2: bit about the valley, but right do you see any similarities.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It made me want to be a host, Like I
- 20:40Speaker 1: liked the idea of like hosting the parties, sending out
- 20:43Speaker 1: the patients, Okay, picking a theme, like you know, just
- 20:47Speaker 1: having it be like my party, like like like that aspect,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and I now like my favorite thing is to like
- 20:53Speaker 1: throw a dinner party. I feel like we get stuck
- 20:56Speaker 1: having to do a lot of the theme parties like
- 20:58Speaker 1: on Bravo shows. Yeah, so some of those, I'm like, man,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I like got that out of my system in college.
- 21:04Speaker 1: There's times where I'm like Brittany, if you pick a
- 21:06Speaker 1: theme for this part and tell you can't we just
- 21:09Speaker 1: like have a normal night. But I will say, like
- 21:12Speaker 1: I think it maybe like jump started the host in
- 21:15Speaker 1: me and like enjoying like planning and setting up a
- 21:19Speaker 1: party and and then like you know, the praise of
- 21:21Speaker 1: like everybody having a good time. Wow.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's I could see how that would translate. I mean,
- 21:26Speaker 2: the last thing I ever want to do is throw
- 21:28Speaker 2: a party, really dinner. Oh my god. I like to
- 21:31Speaker 2: go to a party. Specific I'd like to go to
- 21:33Speaker 2: one of your parties, but no, like figuring out a
- 21:37Speaker 2: menu that would not be for me.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Love that. That's my favorite thing is having everybody over, cooking
- 21:42Speaker 1: a big dinner, like having a twelve person dinner party
- 21:44Speaker 1: is my favorite thing on earth.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah. Okay, So got to talk a
- 21:50Speaker 2: little bit about season three of The Valley, which is
- 21:53Speaker 2: premiering April April first, April first, Okay, so very very exciting.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Tell me a little bit about how filming this season
- 22:02Speaker 2: was compared to last season.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Honestly, last season was so dark because we were all
- 22:08Speaker 1: kind of right in the center of Jackson Brittany's separation,
- 22:12Speaker 1: looming divorce, and I feel like Jack's kind of sucked
- 22:15Speaker 1: the air out of the room a lot. It was
- 22:17Speaker 1: like just very heavy. A lot of the topics that
- 22:19Speaker 1: we were having to deal with because of Jack's were
- 22:24Speaker 1: just really dark, and it just it felt like anytime
- 22:27Speaker 1: we were having fun, it would be like Brittany would
- 22:29Speaker 1: be like, guess what he just did or guess what
- 22:30Speaker 1: he just texted me? Right, And that kind of was
- 22:33Speaker 1: like this dark cloud around last season, And I feel
- 22:37Speaker 1: like this season was It's the most I've ever laughed. Like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: while I feel like, yeah, it's had the most fun,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I feel like and it just felt a lot lighter
- 22:46Speaker 1: and more fun. Granted there's still drama, like there's a
- 22:49Speaker 1: bunch of us, like you know, don't like each other,
- 22:51Speaker 1: don't get along over certain things, so there's still all
- 22:54Speaker 1: of that, but it just felt normal, like bullsh that
- 22:58Speaker 1: happens in life, not like really dark, heavy topics all
- 23:02Speaker 1: the time.
- 23:02Speaker 2: That's so interesting because in terms of like the two
- 23:06Speaker 2: seasons I did on Housewives on New Jersey, the first
- 23:10Speaker 2: season thirteen was so much fun and we had so
- 23:13Speaker 2: I mean, it was again there was drama, but it
- 23:15Speaker 2: was like we still we had so many laughs. The
- 23:18Speaker 2: cast trip was like amazing, and then season fourteen it
- 23:22Speaker 2: turned into a lot of just heaviness and darkness, and
- 23:28Speaker 2: now we've been on pause for a couple of years.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So I if I'm picking, I would definitely prefer then
- 23:34Speaker 2: season three to season two of The Valley. I'm so
- 23:37Speaker 2: excited to watch it.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're also going to see Lala on Schwartz join,
- 23:40Speaker 1: which I'm so happy about. Like, Lala's been one of
- 23:42Speaker 1: my best friends for years now, and so it is right.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I feel like one of the things that like The
- 23:47Speaker 1: Valley really like nailed in, Like in picking all of
- 23:51Speaker 1: us is like all of us are real friends in
- 23:52Speaker 1: real life, right, you know, Lala popped in she was
- 23:55Speaker 1: like at my birthday season one, and she filmed a
- 23:57Speaker 1: little bit season two and she was pregnant and so
- 24:00Speaker 1: you saw little bits and pieces of her because it
- 24:02Speaker 1: would have been strange for her not to be a
- 24:05Speaker 1: part of it. Otherwise she and Schwarts are full time
- 24:08Speaker 1: with us, which it just feels like right and like
- 24:11Speaker 1: you know, all this stuff anytime she wasn't at like
- 24:13Speaker 1: a party or an event, and like this wouldn't how
- 24:16Speaker 1: this wouldn't be how it is like if we didn't
- 24:18Speaker 1: have cameras up, so it feels like cameras are like
- 24:21Speaker 1: now at the things that we would have off camera. God,
- 24:25Speaker 1: it's all like lining up the way it's supposed to.
- 24:27Speaker 2: And they have a best friends next to you. It
- 24:30Speaker 2: definitely changes everything, right.
- 24:32Speaker 1: A sober best friend like Lala is sober, so like
- 24:36Speaker 1: days after when all of us are like lit and
- 24:38Speaker 1: having the time of our lives on camera and people
- 24:40Speaker 1: are like, well, this person said this, and then this happened.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Lala's like, uhh, that's not how I said this first.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Then she said this, then this happened, and I'm like,
- 24:49Speaker 1: thank god. I'm like, we have somebody sober in the
- 24:52Speaker 1: group who can like fully just like recount everything as
- 24:56Speaker 1: it happens and tell the truth.
- 24:58Speaker 2: The Greek chorus. That's awesome. Yeah, I cannot wait to
- 25:01Speaker 2: watch fun. So can you compare the valley and your
- 25:07Speaker 2: experience on it with being in a sorority? Is it?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Does it feel like at all the same?
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think you know what's similar? I feel like it's
- 25:15Speaker 1: sort of like, yeah, I feel like in we all
- 25:18Speaker 1: have like our individual like groups, like you know, Brittany, Lala,
- 25:21Speaker 1: Michelle and I, Like we have a group chat. We
- 25:23Speaker 1: talk all the time. So I feel like in the
- 25:26Speaker 1: sorority life, like you had your best friends or your room.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Then you had like the big group that you would
- 25:31Speaker 1: see like at all the socials. So that's like you
- 25:33Speaker 1: know people that are like maybe we're not as close
- 25:35Speaker 1: with but like you know, we're still in the friend group,
- 25:37Speaker 1: or you don't like that you have this anyway, right,
- 25:41Speaker 1: And it's almost sort of like the Bravo world too,
- 25:43Speaker 1: is like other shows are sort of like other sororities.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Like I remember talking to Gina from Orange County and
- 25:49Speaker 1: being like we're basically like, you know, sorority sisters, just
- 25:52Speaker 1: in different sororities.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And Bravocon is like, you know, getting to bring
- 25:55Speaker 1: all that together, which is so much fun. It's sort
- 25:58Speaker 1: of like mirror that, like that that sorority group. Like
- 26:02Speaker 1: there's different clubs and different different groups, but everybody kind
- 26:06Speaker 1: of has the same understanding of like you know, like
- 26:09Speaker 1: you can you can bitch with another sorority girl who's
- 26:11Speaker 1: in a different storty about like oh I have to
- 26:13Speaker 1: go to like initiation today, and they understand like oh,
- 26:17Speaker 1: chapter meetings are like you know, so annoying on Sundays
- 26:20Speaker 1: and now you have the same understanding for how things work.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I have a confessional, I have a cast trip.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 2: That's interesting because I definitely clicked with people at Bravo
- 26:32Speaker 2: con and and I've unlike a lot of people that
- 26:35Speaker 2: go on reality TV, I am a fan. I've been
- 26:38Speaker 2: a fan. I've watched every Housewife episode ever, so it's
- 26:43Speaker 2: a little bit of my first one, especially like I
- 26:46Speaker 2: get I got a little starstruck. Yeah, and but this
- 26:51Speaker 2: last year, I was like, it was just so easy
- 26:54Speaker 2: to connect with people because there's there's just a shared
- 26:56Speaker 2: experience there. I think that probably applies right to sororities
- 27:02Speaker 2: in terms of just you know, your goal and especially
- 27:04Speaker 2: like the sisters that you pledge with. Yeah, right, it's
- 27:08Speaker 2: just sort of this shared experience which is really fun
- 27:11Speaker 2: and very unique in terms of I think friendships life,
- 27:14Speaker 2: you know, long friendships, and you know, to be able
- 27:17Speaker 2: to have that, to have that history together, it kind
- 27:20Speaker 2: of bonds you, right, totally.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that shared experience like yeah, like sharing your life,
- 27:25Speaker 1: like getting love and hate online, like yep, you know,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it's something all of us. You know, no matter if
- 27:31Speaker 1: what show you're on or what you're doing, it's like
- 27:33Speaker 1: everybody experiences like those highs and lows, you know, like
- 27:36Speaker 1: the having to be in the glam chair so much.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there is a lot.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Of like shared experience. I feel like that all of
- 27:42Speaker 1: us have. And yeah, Bravo con I have been such
- 27:45Speaker 1: a big fan of so many Bravo shows for a
- 27:47Speaker 1: long time now. Chris Cody gave me for it on
- 27:50Speaker 1: our show and was like, you're a fan, and I'm like,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I'm a proud fan. I love a one hundred percent,
- 27:56Speaker 1: Like I think it's so much fun and so yeah,
- 27:58Speaker 1: same thing like getting to meet people from shows that
- 28:01Speaker 1: I've watched for years. In your Housewife so cool, right,
- 28:04Speaker 1: I find so iconic you getting to sit next to you.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I heard awards and be like, oh my god, Jenfestler's
- 28:10Speaker 1: next to me. Like it's just like, yeah, it's a
- 28:14Speaker 1: really exciting fun world.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah. I remember this past time. I'd met her before,
- 28:18Speaker 2: but I was in the bathroom Bravo Khan and Kathy
- 28:21Speaker 2: Hilton and Nikki Hilton came out and Kathy, who has
- 28:25Speaker 2: said this to me at other events, and I'm bragging
- 28:28Speaker 2: a little bit, but I can't help it. She's like,
- 28:30Speaker 2: I love what you are wearing.
- 28:33Speaker 1: She gave it.
- 28:34Speaker 2: She it was I thought I would die. She's like,
- 28:38Speaker 2: you look, you look so chic. She goes, you really
- 28:41Speaker 2: don't look like a housewife, which I thought, which I
- 28:43Speaker 2: thought was hilarious.
- 28:45Speaker 1: She probably thinks of the housewife fashion is like so
- 28:47Speaker 1: over the top and like extra.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I never really I'm old, so I'm
- 28:52Speaker 2: never like you know, tits out for harambie. So that's
- 28:57Speaker 2: the expression, right, I love that. Yeah, that's good, good, good,
- 29:02Speaker 2: all right, my friend. I loved having you here. You're
- 29:04Speaker 2: du so much fun. It was really fun. You're the best.
- 29:08Speaker 2: You're the best. Okay you guys, April first, Jannet, I
- 29:11Speaker 2: really am. I'm psyched. I love that. It's going to
- 29:13Speaker 2: be a little more fun, a little less dark.
- 29:15Speaker 1: It's going to be good.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I know those are always the best seasons.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeay, my love, Thank you so much having me.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Thank you, bye bye bye. All right, guys, so we
- 29:26Speaker 2: will see you next time on another episode of Dirty Rush.
