- 0:00Speaker 1: Accidents don't wait for good timing. One bad moment, a wreck,
- 0:03Speaker 1: a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention, and suddenly
- 0:05Speaker 1: you're fighting an insurance company that does this every single day.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And that's why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a

- 0:52Speaker 1: Chad, here is one big thing on every NFL game
- 0:55Speaker 1: for Week 8. Here we go. Thursday night football. Tonight,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you've got Panthers and Packers. The Panthers lead the NFC South,
- 1:02Speaker 1: the only division where no team is above. 500. Meanwhile,
- 1:05Speaker 1: the Packers are at the bottom of the NFC North,
- 1:08Speaker 1: where all of the teams are above. 500. Bryce Young
- 1:11Speaker 1: took five sacks last week, blitzed on only 24% of
- 1:15Speaker 1: his dropbacks, and Green Bay is the only team yet
- 1:18Speaker 1: to rush for 100 yards in a game this season.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Carolina allows... five yards per carry. And five of Green
- 1:24Speaker 1: Bay's seven games stayed under the total. 47.5 is the
- 1:28Speaker 1: total here. Packers, minus 3.5. Check it out at hardrock.bet.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Sunday night football. The Eagles are 2-5. The Commanders are 1-4-1.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But they're on Sunday night football. Here's the explanation of why.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They could have flexed this game. The Bills and Ravens
- 1:46Speaker 1: are playing. But Baltimore plays on Thursday night football next week,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and the league will not schedule Sunday night to Thursday
- 1:53Speaker 1: night turnaround on a team that also eliminated the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Kansas City and Denver, CBS protected that game. Don't blame them.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Vikings and Lions, they're on Sunday night football in week 15,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and it's a requirement that one instance of each divisional
- 2:08Speaker 1: matchup must air on a Sunday afternoon network. I did
- 2:12Speaker 1: not know that. So they're doing that this week because
- 2:14Speaker 1: they're on Sunday night football later. Browns and Steelers, same restriction.
- 2:18Speaker 1: They've already played on Thursday Night Football. So here you
- 2:20Speaker 1: go with this rare occurrence where they couldn't find a
- 2:23Speaker 1: better alternative given all these restrictions with broadcast agreements. So
- 2:26Speaker 1: they're going with this terrible matchup.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I mean, even the propaganda machine of an NBC that
- 2:32Speaker 2: does a great job with Football Night in America and
- 2:35Speaker 2: on-field hits with everyone. Mike Tomlin's going to be there
- 2:38Speaker 2: on site, who's been terrific, by the way.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he has been.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And some of his quotes and soundbites of what he
- 2:43Speaker 2: said about the league. He's been great to watch. But
- 2:45Speaker 2: even Mike Tomlin and Maria Taylor and everyone, you cannot
- 2:50Speaker 2: hype up this game. There is nothing you can say
- 2:53Speaker 2: about this game that's going to really get people excited
- 2:56Speaker 2: for Sunday night football. But here's what I know about
- 2:58Speaker 2: that primetime slot on NBC. People will watch.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, we will.
- 3:03Speaker 2: It's still going to do a bigger number than anything
- 3:04Speaker 2: else on Sunday night. Hard rock bet we'll have it
- 3:07Speaker 2: as well.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Monday night football, Bears on the road against the Seahawks,
- 3:10Speaker 1: 5-2 against 4-3. The Bears have a three-day rest advantage
- 3:14Speaker 1: coming into the game. but they do have to travel.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Chicago's run game, they average 150 yards per game on
- 3:20Speaker 1: the ground, but Seattle just shut down Kenneth Walker III
- 3:23Speaker 1: and the Chiefs a week ago. Bears have won three straight.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Seattle just handed KC their first loss. Bears are 5-2
- 3:30Speaker 1: against the spread. Seahawks are favored by three over under 46.5.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Chiefs and Broncos is Sunday afternoon, late afternoon. KC lost.
- 3:39Speaker 1: They totaled just 213 yards on offense. The Broncos have
- 3:42Speaker 1: won three straight. Congratulations, JT. Denver initially opened as a
- 3:46Speaker 1: 1.5-point favorite. It's now Chiefs minus 1.5. It's flipped to
- 3:50Speaker 1: the opposite, over under 40.5 there. Chargers are on the road, quote-unquote,
- 3:56Speaker 1: against the Rams. Zero travel game. Both teams play at SoFi.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Chargers are the league's only winless team now. They're coming
- 4:02Speaker 1: off of a bye where the ownership opted to keep
- 4:05Speaker 1: the coaching staff intact. The Rams are really banged up
- 4:08Speaker 1: at wide receiver. The Chargers will have Joe Alt return
- 4:11Speaker 1: to the offensive line this week. Rams are favored by 6.5.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It was at 7.5, so it's moved down. And the
- 4:17Speaker 1: over-under there is 44.5. I don't know. What does Vegas
- 4:21Speaker 1: know there? 6.5. Patriots and Dolphins.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Chargers, by the way, 0-6 still hot. Are they going
- 4:29Speaker 2: to have the number one overall pick?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Right now, they do.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Are they going to be able to draft Jeremiah Smith?
- 4:34Speaker 2: As this thing plays out, I'm not really thinking about them,
- 4:37Speaker 2: even though... They're in the driver's seat right now to
- 4:41Speaker 2: get the number one overall pick, which is wild to
- 4:43Speaker 2: think about with the expectations coming into this season.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They can't do anything. They can't run the football, which
- 4:49Speaker 1: is crazy for who's coaching them. Patriots and Dolphins, Chad.
- 4:54Speaker 1: New England has the rest advantage. They're coming off of
- 4:56Speaker 1: a loss to Chicago. Dolphins won their first game on
- 4:59Speaker 1: the road in New York, so now back to Hard
- 5:01Speaker 1: Rock Stadium. Weather could be a big factor. Chance of
- 5:04Speaker 1: thunderstorms in Miami Gardens. Patriots favored by a touchdown. Over-under
- 5:08Speaker 1: at 44. New England's... The over has hit in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: last five AFC East games for New England. So take
- 5:18Speaker 1: that as you wish. Vrabels had a good record against them.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Early afternoon kickoffs. Headlined by the Ravens and Bills. This
- 5:27Speaker 1: is a 1 o'clock Eastern kickoff. Withrow's coaching advantage example
- 5:30Speaker 1: is happening right here. Buffalo comes off the bye week.
- 5:34Speaker 1: They come off the bye week, and you've got back-to-back
- 5:37Speaker 1: divisional losses without Lamar Jackson for Baltimore. They're blown out
- 5:41Speaker 1: after giving up 35 points in Cincy, and you've got
- 5:43Speaker 1: Baltimore back on the road this week after you've got
- 5:47Speaker 1: a team coming off the bye. Jackson is expected to
- 5:49Speaker 1: return and start over Huntley on Sunday in Buffalo. Bills
- 5:53Speaker 1: by a field goal here, over under 54.5.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I knew when I saw that line of Buffalo only
- 5:59Speaker 2: minus three at home, Lamar Jackson must be playing. Because
- 6:03Speaker 2: if he's not playing, this thing is probably closer to
- 6:05Speaker 2: 9.5 or 10 for Buffalo in this game. So that's
- 6:09Speaker 2: the big difference in this one. Big moment here for Baltimore.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Huge.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Big, big moment where I feel like earlier in the year,
- 6:17Speaker 2: the Patriots kick-started their season with a win in Buffalo.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Currently the Bills only lost when the Patriots beat them.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think it's a chance for the Ravens to replicate
- 6:25Speaker 2: that where they could get They could get going uphill
- 6:29Speaker 2: here towards the top of the AFC if they can
- 6:32Speaker 2: now go on the road and beat the Bills.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yes, and you've got the Ravens trying to avoid a
- 6:36Speaker 1: 500 record. They're 4-3 right now. Vikings are 6-0. They're
- 6:40Speaker 1: on the road in Detroit. Vikings, the last team unbeaten.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Brian Flores, the defense allows just 12 points per game.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It's legit. Minnesota's won 11 straight regular season games, and
- 6:50Speaker 1: they average 20 points per game on offense. Lions by 3.5, though, here.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And you've got over-under at 46. Detroit just 1-5 against
- 6:59Speaker 1: the spread on the year. Detroit favored by 3.5 here.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Browns and Steelers, first place in the AFC North happening
- 7:06Speaker 1: right here. Both teams 5-2. The Browns have won five
- 7:09Speaker 1: of their last six. They hold a win over Pittsburgh
- 7:13Speaker 1: from Thursday Night Football exactly one month ago. And last week,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Cleveland's offense had 491 yards and 26 first downs. The
- 7:21Speaker 1: Steelers are coming off of that game in Paris. Totals
- 7:24Speaker 1: at 39. It's the lowest of the week eight games.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Steelers are favored by three and a half at home.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Cardinals and Cowboys, Jack. And by the way, a good spot,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think, to.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Pick Cleveland money line with Pittsburgh coming back from Paris.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think so, too.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They avoided the riots in Paris, but they didn't avoid
- 7:41Speaker 2: the long flight to and from. I see that three
- 7:44Speaker 2: and a half point line right now at Hard Rock Bet,
- 7:47Speaker 2: and I think it's a nice little spot to pick
- 7:50Speaker 2: those cardiac Browns again to go on the road and.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Pull off a A slight upset. Watson's playing very well, too.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Cardinals are on the road against the Cowboys. This is
- 8:00Speaker 1: a one o'clock kickoff, a rare one o'clock kickoff for Dallas.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not ruling out bringing Troy
- 8:06Speaker 1: Aikman back to Dallas. After they spoke on the field
- 8:10Speaker 1: Monday night for like 10 minutes, Jones said, quote, he
- 8:13Speaker 1: could and would want to hire him for a role
- 8:15Speaker 1: with the team. It takes two there to make that
- 8:18Speaker 1: deal happen. Highest total of the week eight board is
- 8:20Speaker 1: at 54 and a half. Cowboys favored by six and
- 8:23Speaker 1: a half. Buccaneers and Falcons. Atlanta handed San Francisco their
- 8:27Speaker 1: first loss of the season a week ago. The Bucs
- 8:30Speaker 1: dominated the Panthers in Baker Mayfield's return to quarterback. Bucs
- 8:34Speaker 1: had four takeaways, and they rushed for 250 yards in
- 8:37Speaker 1: that game. Tampa started 0-4, but a win here gives
- 8:42Speaker 1: them a 2-0 start in the division. Buccaneers favored by
- 8:45Speaker 1: 2.5 against Atlanta. Colts and Jaguars. Rain is in the forecast.
- 8:52Speaker 1: The Colts have waved the white flag. They've traded Quentin
- 8:55Speaker 1: Nelson to Seattle. DeForest Buckner's traded back to the 49ers.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Jags are coming off a bye week here. Jags opened
- 9:01Speaker 1: at 7.5. It's now 9 over under at 47. That
- 9:05Speaker 1: keeps going up and up after all the trades. The
- 9:08Speaker 1: white flag was raised. Raiders and Jets, Chad. Raiders have
- 9:12Speaker 1: dropped four straight games. They're now 3-4. Jets are 2-5.
- 9:16Speaker 1: But the Raiders are allowing 30 or more points in
- 9:19Speaker 1: all of their four losses. Teams are putting up a
- 9:23Speaker 1: ton of yards and points. Brees Hall is questionable for
- 9:26Speaker 1: the Jets. He has not played since week three. There's
- 9:29Speaker 1: a chance he could. I think he's back to practice.
- 9:32Speaker 1: If he's not, he's limited in practice. Jets favored by
- 9:34Speaker 1: a point and a half. And you're over under there
- 9:37Speaker 1: at hard rock bets is at 45. What's the old
- 9:41Speaker 1: ABBA song, Fernando?
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think they sing a song called Fernando. Let's start.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Let's cue that up and start playing it because I
- 9:49Speaker 2: think it's quickly becoming Fernando time.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's time.
- 9:53Speaker 3: It's time.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It's time. Kirk Cousins. Also, it's time to maybe think
- 9:57Speaker 2: about the next step, the way this thing is going
- 9:59Speaker 2: south for the. Raiders. We're quickly approaching Fernando Mendoza time.
- 10:05Speaker 1: For the Raiders. I will say, though, they've already exceeded
- 10:07Speaker 1: expectations based on their start. First year coach, how they've
- 10:11Speaker 1: handled the first overall pick. Very good job overall because
- 10:15Speaker 1: even in those 30-point games, they were in some of
- 10:18Speaker 1: those games. Chad, the Titans are not in some of
- 10:21Speaker 1: these games. Will they be in this game as they
- 10:24Speaker 1: go on the road to face the 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals?
- 10:27Speaker 1: A very telling game here for Tennessee is Tony Pollard
- 10:30Speaker 1: on the trade block. Deadline is November 10th. Are they
- 10:34Speaker 1: looking to acquire draft picks or do they have to
- 10:37Speaker 1: keep talent around Cam Ward. Keep an eye on how
- 10:39Speaker 1: many touches he receives because he's a huge part of
- 10:42Speaker 1: the entire offense. Do they slow him down thinking they
- 10:44Speaker 1: want to keep him healthy for a trade? The Titans
- 10:47Speaker 1: will play, I guess they play Elante Taylor. We'll see.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He was dressed last week, did not play a single snap,
- 10:54Speaker 1: but here they've taken on Chase and Higgins. Largest spread
- 10:57Speaker 1: of the week eight, looks like 10 and a half, Chad.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I think he's the one person with the Titans that
- 11:02Speaker 2: I somewhat pity right now is Elante Taylor when he
- 11:05Speaker 2: has to stand in his locker room.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I refuse.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Because that's one guy I'm like, what do you say?
- 11:12Speaker 2: He's just like, you know, I just stay ready, want
- 11:15Speaker 2: to play. What did you think about not getting– now
- 11:19Speaker 2: you're activated, but you didn't play a single snap. Just
- 11:22Speaker 2: staying ready, trusting God. You know, just give like four-word responses.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Trust in God, and they're ready to play. That's it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: That's all you can say if you're Elante Taylor.
- 11:32Speaker 1: They signed him to play outside, and now they're moving
- 11:33Speaker 1: him inside to play nickel in the middle of the season.
- 11:36Speaker 1: David Pollock is about to join us. Can't wait to
- 11:39Speaker 1: catch back up with him. A lot of college football
- 11:42Speaker 1: discussion straight ahead here on Hutton-Withrow. It's Hutton-Withrow presented by
- 11:46Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet. Chad, we've got David Pollock coming up.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He goes by David, not Davey. That's right.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Like a smart man.

- 12:45Speaker 2: That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T-Coffee.com. And that's David Crockett to us here
- 12:51Speaker 2: on this show.
- 12:52Speaker 1: David Pollack joins us here on Hutton & Withrow. Thank
- 12:56Speaker 1: you for joining us, man. Hope things are well. Did
- 12:58Speaker 1: you ever go by Davey?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yes, I did, actually. That's why I really laughed out
- 13:03Speaker 3: loud when you said that, because I grew up with
- 13:05Speaker 3: David Green, who played quarterback at Georgia, too. And Well,
- 13:09Speaker 3: it made sense because David was an adult at like 12.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And so there was two Davids and we both came
- 13:14Speaker 3: running all the time and it was annoying. So literally
- 13:16Speaker 3: they were like, all right, who's not the adult? And
- 13:18Speaker 3: it was me and Davey. And to this day, people
- 13:21Speaker 3: still call me Davey. So yeah, I have, but I
- 13:23Speaker 3: haven't had Davey Crockett's coffee, but I'm always looking for
- 13:26Speaker 3: some good coffee.
- 13:28Speaker 2: You know what era you're from Hutton, by the way,
- 13:30Speaker 2: with like, there were multiple Davids. So one had to
- 13:33Speaker 2: be Davey when, when David was growing up, I'm now
- 13:35Speaker 2: coaching my seven-year-old daughter's basketball team. And we started last
- 13:39Speaker 2: night and every team has like two Ellie's or three Emmys,
- 13:44Speaker 2: or there's always something with an E at the end.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay, how are we going to, you're
- 13:47Speaker 2: going to be LEC. You're going to be this. Like
- 13:50Speaker 2: we have to do the last initial to make sure
- 13:53Speaker 2: we differentiate between the two. But back in the day,
- 13:55Speaker 2: it was just, Hey, it's David or David or Davey.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you just changed the name. By the way, I
- 13:59Speaker 3: coached my daughter from when she was seven years old
- 14:02Speaker 3: all the way up now. She's a junior in high school.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I coach at the high school with her. But girls'
- 14:06Speaker 3: basketball is one of the most fun things to coach.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I mean, they actually listen. They actually use fundamentals. But
- 14:13Speaker 3: it's awesome. It's fantastic. So you're going to enjoy that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: That's great.
- 14:17Speaker 1: David, tell us about the conversation with an SEC coach
- 14:20Speaker 1: who thinks Arch is transferring after this season.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Could he end up in Athens? You said everything on
- 14:26Speaker 1: the internet on fire with this. Why do you think
- 14:28Speaker 1: a mutual parting of ways makes sense, I guess, at
- 14:31Speaker 1: this stage? And how realistic is Athens as a landing spot?
- 14:35Speaker 3: Well, here's the thing, you know, and I'm absolutely not
- 14:39Speaker 3: a newsbreaker. It kind of just came out in the
- 14:41Speaker 3: show that I was doing and I was just talking
- 14:42Speaker 3: because it's literally what I heard from a guy from
- 14:44Speaker 3: face to face from his mouth. And I think if you,
- 14:48Speaker 3: first of all, let's talk about Arch.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Look at Gunnar Stockton and look at where he is
- 14:52Speaker 3: right now. We can all see he has been developed.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Like that dude is, now listen, how he finishes the season,
- 14:58Speaker 3: the last time he was out obviously was a bad day.
- 15:01Speaker 3: But he's been developed and he has grown so much
- 15:04Speaker 3: as a passer, understanding his answers. Arch is not. We
- 15:09Speaker 3: can talk about all the different ways. Arch was higher recruited.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Arch has a big arm. Gunner probably has a bigger one,
- 15:16Speaker 3: but Arch has the height. He has the field, the savvy.
- 15:19Speaker 3: He has a lot of these things that Gunner didn't
- 15:21Speaker 3: have to start with. If I'm Arch, if I'm his family,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I've seen that, and that's part of it. I also
- 15:29Speaker 3: think that the way it's gone, obviously it's gotten a
- 15:32Speaker 3: little bit, now it's like with the coach and what's
- 15:34Speaker 3: going to happen. And I don't know, if they lose
- 15:36Speaker 3: two more games, are they going to be, is that
- 15:38Speaker 3: coach going to be there? I'm not firing the coach.
- 15:40Speaker 3: I'm just saying, I know Texas spent a lot of
- 15:42Speaker 3: money on a roster and they expect results. And where
- 15:46Speaker 3: they've been, thank goodness they didn't lose the last one
- 15:48Speaker 3: or else who knows where we'd be right now with
- 15:49Speaker 3: this conversation. But the coach said Georgia to me and
- 15:53Speaker 3: I was like, why?
- 15:55Speaker 2: Why?
- 15:55Speaker 3: Why do you say that? He's like, I just got
- 15:56Speaker 3: a feeling it would be Georgia. And listen, I know
- 15:58Speaker 3: he committed to Georgia coming out of high school, so
- 16:01Speaker 3: I know that was part of it. Georgia was very
- 16:04Speaker 3: much in the mix to get Arch. So I think
- 16:06Speaker 3: that's probably why there was a connection. But he said
- 16:08Speaker 3: it with his chest, and he said it firmly.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Go ahead, Chad.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Well, I was just going to jump in there, Hutton.
- 16:16Speaker 2: That makes sense for Arch. Does that make sense for Georgia?
- 16:21Speaker 2: I mean, given the quarterback market and where it is,
- 16:24Speaker 2: and you've seen a guy who hasn't really been developed
- 16:26Speaker 2: at Texas, and we know he's got the raw ability
- 16:28Speaker 2: and all of that, David, but I also look at
- 16:30Speaker 2: that and think, you know, there's two sides of this coin, right?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Everybody's going to get mad when you talk about Kamario
- 16:35Speaker 2: Taylor should go take $ 6 million. Pete Prisco said that.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And they said, hey, maybe the kid likes Mississippi State.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Maybe he likes playing for where he's from and maybe $ 2.
- 16:43Speaker 3: 5 million.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Is enough because he's eventually going to be a first-round
- 16:46Speaker 2: pick anyways. So stop trying to plug and play somewhere
- 16:49Speaker 2: else just for more money. The other side of that
- 16:52Speaker 2: is there are quarterbacks who just need a fresh start.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And this could be a good situation for both Texas
- 16:58Speaker 2: and Arch to go get a fresh start on both sides.
- 17:01Speaker 2: My question to you would be, if you're Georgia, does
- 17:05Speaker 2: that make the most sense for you to bring in
- 17:07Speaker 2: an Arch Manning in this hypothetical situation?
- 17:11Speaker 3: Well, first of all, if I'm a college nowadays, regardless,
- 17:15Speaker 3: This is the route I'm going. And I say that
- 17:17Speaker 3: because there's so much guesswork with the quarterback spot. And
- 17:22Speaker 3: there's so much that, oh, they could be this, they
- 17:24Speaker 3: could be that. Okay, well, if I've already seen it,
- 17:26Speaker 3: what the heck am I guessing about? Like, I can
- 17:29Speaker 3: go get the guy I want that I know can process.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Darian Mensah, like, that was my Heisman Trophy pick immediately
- 17:34Speaker 3: because I'm like, you put him with Dawson, you put
- 17:36Speaker 3: him with Malachi Toney, with Fletcher, like, I've already seen
- 17:39Speaker 3: this kid at Duke and Tulane tear people up, go
- 17:42Speaker 3: through progressions, make tough reads. I know what he is.
- 17:46Speaker 3: So I think if I'm in the market and I'm
- 17:48Speaker 3: going to get a guy, I want to get a
- 17:50Speaker 3: guy that's been developed. I want to get a guy
- 17:52Speaker 3: that's hardened, that's played a bunch of seasons, that's played
- 17:55Speaker 3: two seasons, that has... Because here's the thing, as you play,
- 17:58Speaker 3: what do you get? You get that experience under your belt.
- 17:59Speaker 3: You learn the answers to the questions. Oh, I've seen
- 18:02Speaker 3: that before. I know how to address it. I've seen
- 18:04Speaker 3: that before. I know how to address it.
- 18:05Speaker 2: So.
- 18:06Speaker 3: No, I mean, that's not who I would say if
- 18:08Speaker 3: I was Georgia. That's not who I would go after. Listen,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I've been on record for months and months and months
- 18:13Speaker 3: about Drew Mestemaker. Like, that dude probably could name his
- 18:16Speaker 3: number in the portal by anybody. And he had a
- 18:19Speaker 3: lot of options last year to do the same. But
- 18:22Speaker 3: I think I'm looking for a guy that understands how
- 18:25Speaker 3: to go through progressions from one to two to three.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I don't care about talent if I'm going to the
- 18:29Speaker 3: portal and I'm renting him for a year. I don't
- 18:31Speaker 3: care about development. I'm not developing him. I'm paying him
- 18:35Speaker 3: to go win now. He's already been developed. I'm past
- 18:38Speaker 3: that point.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Do you see the lack of development at other positions
- 18:42Speaker 1: like we do quarterback going into the league now? Is
- 18:45Speaker 1: it the same type of regression or is the quarterback
- 18:49Speaker 1: just more glaring because of the position?
- 18:51Speaker 3: No, it's the same type. And let's ask ourselves why. Okay,
- 18:55Speaker 3: I'm coaching and I bring in this linebacker. and this
- 18:59Speaker 3: linebacker can't do X, Y, and Z. Well, most of
- 19:02Speaker 3: the time, guess what I do? I don't put him
- 19:04Speaker 3: on the field. I take time. I develop him in practice.
- 19:08Speaker 3: It's going to take a little time before I put
- 19:09Speaker 3: him on the field. Well, now it's like, wait a minute.
- 19:12Speaker 3: I'm paying him X. Well, here's what he does really,
- 19:15Speaker 3: really well. Okay, let's hide what he doesn't do well,
- 19:19Speaker 3: and let's accelerate what he does do well. Well, guess what?
- 19:22Speaker 3: From that point, it's hard to develop. If I'm not
- 19:25Speaker 3: giving you reps, it's hard to do. You talk about basketball.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Basketball is the most affected by far. Okay, he can't shoot.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I can take his shot. I can break his shot down,
- 19:34Speaker 3: and I can work on this for a year, a
- 19:36Speaker 3: year and a half. No, no, no, no, no. He
- 19:38Speaker 3: can get to the rack. Okay, I'm going to do
- 19:40Speaker 3: everything I can to make sure he gets to the rack.
- 19:42Speaker 3: So I'm paying these players to come in and provide
- 19:44Speaker 3: a service. So the depth piece is not the most
- 19:47Speaker 3: important piece anymore. It's like, how do I get reps?
- 19:50Speaker 3: on my investment quicker? And so because of that, you
- 19:53Speaker 3: absolutely see where development gets strangled a little bit.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Well, in the quarterback situation you're talking about in college
- 19:59Speaker 2: football currently, where everyone is trying to replicate that, where
- 20:03Speaker 2: you're going to go get the 23-year-old dude and not
- 20:06Speaker 2: the 18 or 19-year-old dude. This is where I think
- 20:08Speaker 2: Tennessee's actually doing exceptionally well, given that they went into
- 20:13Speaker 2: a season with a 19-year-old and 18-year-old as their possible
- 20:16Speaker 2: quarterback options. That's not the way of college football. I
- 20:20Speaker 2: knew going into the season this could be a problem
- 20:22Speaker 2: for Josh Heupel, that he didn't get Sam Levitt, let's say,
- 20:25Speaker 2: who they had visiting, that they wanted to bring in.
- 20:28Speaker 2: He didn't get that veteran quarterback. What do you think
- 20:30Speaker 2: about Tennessee doing what they're doing with a really good
- 20:34Speaker 2: defense with Jim Knowles, but doing it with a freshman
- 20:37Speaker 2: quarterback where, David, as you mentioned, there's just limitations to
- 20:41Speaker 2: the offense given someone who doesn't have that experience?
- 20:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I got asked on a radio interview the other day,
- 20:46Speaker 3: and somebody asked me about with Tennessee, and like, is
- 20:50Speaker 3: Tennessee's coach safe? I'm like, what are you watching? Like,
- 20:55Speaker 3: have you seen this, dude? Like, have you seen what
- 20:57Speaker 3: they are and what they are now? Like, 10-win seasons,
- 21:00Speaker 3: and this is what Tennessee– like, I know everybody wants
- 21:03Speaker 3: to go to the next level, but this is what
- 21:05Speaker 3: you expect. But here's the crazy thing about this season.
- 21:08Speaker 3: This is obviously– a couple years ago. This is the
- 21:11Speaker 3: Niko team, right? Like, where defense reigns supreme. You know,
- 21:15Speaker 3: the run game was enough. Niko just had to do
- 21:17Speaker 3: enough to make enough plays. But that doesn't happen very
- 21:20Speaker 3: often under Heupel because he's such a great offensive coach.
- 21:24Speaker 3: And what does he give his guys this year? What
- 21:26Speaker 3: does he give him both those guys? A great run game,
- 21:28Speaker 3: like always. Like, I think he's been top four in
- 21:31Speaker 3: the SEC in rushing every season. Like, that's what they
- 21:34Speaker 3: do and who they are. And because the system is
- 21:37Speaker 3: so good, it allows your QB to thrive. Now, listen...
- 21:40Speaker 3: I think you've made the right decision. I think McIntyre
- 21:43Speaker 3: should be the guy because your passing game goes from,
- 21:46Speaker 3: you know, a minus to a plus at times or not,
- 21:51Speaker 3: at least not a minus.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And so I think they're finding and developing that along
- 21:56Speaker 3: the way, but the defensive line, good Lord. I mean,
- 21:59Speaker 3: Xavier Gillum is the best defensive tackle in the country.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Like the best, I mean, that dude is all over
- 22:03Speaker 3: the field and you watch the return on the investment
- 22:06Speaker 3: on that side. You're like, okay, they made a really,
- 22:08Speaker 3: really good decision, but I think Tennessee's doing exactly what
- 22:11Speaker 3: you can do. You try to develop them, but you
- 22:13Speaker 3: know at some point what you'll get from that position.
- 22:17Speaker 3: You always get good quarterback play. So when you have youth,
- 22:20Speaker 3: you take some lumps sometimes, but you know as well
- 22:23Speaker 3: as I do, you take those lumps, you get through them.
- 22:25Speaker 3: A lot of times now they've been hardened a little bit,
- 22:27Speaker 3: just like Gunnar Stockton. Gunnar Stockton took a bunch of lumps.
- 22:31Speaker 3: This year's a much better player, and that's what you're
- 22:32Speaker 3: going to expect if I'm a Tennessee fan.
- 22:35Speaker 2: How hard is it to wrap your head around someone
- 22:37Speaker 2: who played in an era, Georgia, where you had great
- 22:40Speaker 2: teams with guys who grew up together and developed together,
- 22:43Speaker 2: and it's like, all right, boy, we're this this year,
- 22:45Speaker 2: but fans can say, wait until next year or wait
- 22:48Speaker 2: until the year after that or let's look two years ahead.
- 22:51Speaker 2: and see what this can be. That's sort of the
- 22:52Speaker 2: Tennessee predicament right now is you're looking at DGG coming
- 22:56Speaker 2: in next year and, oh, they've got two five-star quarterbacks
- 22:59Speaker 2: that are young, but you don't know who's going to
- 23:02Speaker 2: come back. But wrapping your head around, it's a season-to-season,
- 23:06Speaker 2: week-to-week league, and you can't really bank on much of
- 23:09Speaker 2: what's going to happen next year because you don't know
- 23:11Speaker 2: what's going to happen with the roster year-to-year.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I don't know what you can bank on week to
- 23:15Speaker 3: week nowadays either, man. There's so much parody in this sport.
- 23:18Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. I mean, guys, I can't tell you the
- 23:20Speaker 3: last time that we've been like nine weeks into a season.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I've been doing this for a long time now. And
- 23:25Speaker 3: somebody asked me the question, who's the best team in
- 23:28Speaker 3: the country? And I'm like, I don't know. Like I
- 23:32Speaker 3: can give you four or five or six or seven.
- 23:34Speaker 3: I mean, it's funny. I was going through the playoff
- 23:36Speaker 3: bracket the other day and I'm like, I'm trying to
- 23:38Speaker 3: put 12 in. And how do I look at these tiers?
- 23:40Speaker 3: And I'm like, all right, well, I got, One from
- 23:42Speaker 3: the ACC. Let's go two from the Big 12, even
- 23:46Speaker 3: though we still got three other contenders. Let's go Big 10.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Three teams that are probably going to be in. Three
- 23:53Speaker 3: contenders right now with Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern. Those are the
- 23:56Speaker 3: contenders in the Big 10. I mean, because everyone else, Oregon, Michigan, USC,
- 24:01Speaker 3: those guys are out of the mix to me. UCLA
- 24:03Speaker 3: is in, which is crazy. But then you get to
- 24:05Speaker 3: the SEC and you're like, okay, Texas is 10th in
- 24:10Speaker 3: the SEC standings. They're 11th in the country, guys.
- 24:15Speaker 2: 11th.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Like, what are we doing? So it's just crazy. Like,
- 24:19Speaker 3: looking ahead, I don't know that we want to look ahead. Like,
- 24:21Speaker 3: I just think you try to get as many players
- 24:25Speaker 3: to come on board, obviously, that are difference makers in
- 24:27Speaker 3: the future. But you absolutely have to be in the
- 24:30Speaker 3: business of development. And you have to be in the
- 24:32Speaker 3: business of finding those guys and being able to coach them.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I think it puts an emphasis on coaches more than ever. Like, literally,
- 24:39Speaker 3: your coaching matters more than ever. The game has now
- 24:42Speaker 3: been shrunk, too. Remember, with the clock that changed a
- 24:44Speaker 3: couple years ago, there's two less possessions a game because
- 24:47Speaker 3: that thing is now running. And so you're making tougher decisions.
- 24:51Speaker 3: You see analytics and fourth downs, and it's a harder
- 24:54Speaker 3: world to coach in. But there's not much you can
- 24:57Speaker 3: count on and say, hey, I'm going to build for
- 24:58Speaker 3: the future because now fans have also changed their expectations
- 25:01Speaker 3: because there's a guy up in Bloomington, Indiana that's like,
- 25:04Speaker 3: why do you need a full recruiting class? Like, we
- 25:07Speaker 3: just did this in two years.
- 25:09Speaker 1: David Pollock with us on Hunt to Withrow. So is
- 25:12Speaker 1: it easier to judge teams based on your, if you
- 25:16Speaker 1: determine whether or not they have an identity? Like you
- 25:19Speaker 1: say LSU's found their identity up front in the trenches.
- 25:22Speaker 1: A lot of other teams haven't. So like what's separating
- 25:25Speaker 1: a team like LSU from others in the conference right now?
- 25:29Speaker 3: Man, LSU is, they're just the team that I watch
- 25:32Speaker 3: now and I'm like, I would not want to play
- 25:33Speaker 3: them because offensively they understand who they are with their
- 25:37Speaker 3: short rhythm passing game. They understand how to run the
- 25:40Speaker 3: football now. Leavitt understands how.
- 25:42Speaker 1: To run the football.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Now, listen, I could argue they could be better in
- 25:44Speaker 3: the red zone, but they understand who their number one
- 25:46Speaker 3: wide receiver is. It's Harris. He's balling. If you watch four,
- 25:50Speaker 3: like he's making plays all over the field. Oh, I
- 25:52Speaker 3: get trade as greenback last week. That's fun. That's a
- 25:55Speaker 3: fun toy now that I can also use. But I
- 25:58Speaker 3: know who my one is. They didn't know who their
- 26:00Speaker 3: one was. I know what kind of passes Sam Levitt
- 26:03Speaker 3: does well. And then the injury for Sam Levitt to
- 26:06Speaker 3: me was a blessing in disguise because it made him
- 26:10Speaker 3: calm down and play within the pocket because he's not
- 26:12Speaker 3: 100 percent. So they don't want him running. all over
- 26:15Speaker 3: the place. And listen, when you watch the kid throw
- 26:17Speaker 3: the football, he can throw it. I mean, he can
- 26:19Speaker 3: make difficult throws look extremely easy. So, and then, you know, Tennessee, okay, Tennessee,
- 26:25Speaker 3: for example, Byron Brown, 100 yards rushing. Georgia, almost 90
- 26:30Speaker 3: yards rushing. Byron Brown versus LSU this past week, negative
- 26:35Speaker 3: yards rushing. The undesigned runs, over 100 versus Tennessee, almost
- 26:39Speaker 3: 100 versus Georgia, negative versus LSU. Speed, Whit Weeks probably
- 26:44Speaker 3: will come back. So you'll have both number sevens back
- 26:46Speaker 3: for them on that squad. But LSU just looks to
- 26:49Speaker 3: me like a team. And listen, they got some challenges too.
- 26:51Speaker 3: And they've dug themselves a hole by losing two games already.
- 26:53Speaker 3: But they got Bama off of a bye. They got Texas.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Like they've got some games down the stretch. They got Tennessee.
- 27:00Speaker 3: They got some chances to prove themselves that they're a
- 27:02Speaker 3: playoff team.
- 27:04Speaker 2: So Georgia, Florida, cocktail party this weekend. A series you
- 27:08Speaker 2: know a lot about. What concerns you the most about
- 27:11Speaker 2: a Buster Faulkner offense that you've seen and what he
- 27:13Speaker 2: does that's different than what a lot of offensive coordinators
- 27:16Speaker 2: will do in this league?
- 27:18Speaker 3: He plays the hat game, man. It's like, you know,
- 27:20Speaker 3: you put the ball underneath the helmet on the scoreboard
- 27:23Speaker 3: and you just kind of go like this, you go
- 27:24Speaker 3: like this, you go like this. Where is it? You know,
- 27:26Speaker 3: like a lot of shifts, motions, a lot of things
- 27:28Speaker 3: to look at. So here's what Buster Faulkner did. His
- 27:31Speaker 3: background is a lot of air raid. Like, so it's
- 27:34Speaker 3: a different background than a lot of people would think.
- 27:36Speaker 3: It's pitchy, pitchy, woo-woo, throw it all over the yard, right? Like,
- 27:39Speaker 3: And then he goes to George, and he's like, okay,
- 27:41Speaker 3: I see how they communicate. I see what gives them
- 27:44Speaker 3: problems when people start to pre-snap motion or pre-snap shift,
- 27:50Speaker 3: then motion, make all these guys communicate and say something two,
- 27:54Speaker 3: three times. And then, oh, the QB run game. That's
- 27:57Speaker 3: a real pain in your ass, right? So now I
- 27:59Speaker 3: can shift, motion, pull it, triple option type football, which
- 28:03Speaker 3: Tramell Jones, I think, also is the guy. I know
- 28:06Speaker 3: on the depth chart it says Philo slash– Jones, I
- 28:10Speaker 3: saw enough in the Texas game out of Jones. I mean,
- 28:12Speaker 3: they get down early 17-7, and they storm back. But
- 28:18Speaker 3: when you watch the tape, guys, the number one, most
- 28:21Speaker 3: offenses go to die on third and long. Like third
- 28:23Speaker 3: and long, they go to die. They were two for ten,
- 28:26Speaker 3: I think, Florida on third downs in the first half.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Second half, it was exact opposite. It was like eight
- 28:31Speaker 3: for ten. Why? If you looked at the average third
- 28:34Speaker 3: down to go, it was third down and four point something.
- 28:38Speaker 3: In the first half, it was like third down and
- 28:39Speaker 3: eight something. You've got to stay out of those positions.
- 28:42Speaker 3: That's your coordinator. Your coordinator tries to make sure that
- 28:45Speaker 3: we don't get ourselves in bad situations. So running the football,
- 28:49Speaker 3: now running the football with Jones a little bit more
- 28:51Speaker 3: than Philo, I think Faulkner understands that as well as
- 28:55Speaker 3: anybody in the country.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Georgia, have they established those alpha ballers that you said
- 29:00Speaker 1: that maybe they had an issue with back in the preseason?
- 29:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're finding out. I think Georgia's found
- 29:07Speaker 3: out who they are. I think everybody was like, okay, Cole, Bolden, Wilson, Ellis. Like, okay,
- 29:14Speaker 3: there's four or five really good ballplayers on this defense
- 29:17Speaker 3: that can change the game, that can make game-changing plays.
- 29:20Speaker 3: And then I think offensively, you know, again, you talk
- 29:23Speaker 3: about injuries being a blessing in the sky sometimes because
- 29:26Speaker 3: you find something. Like if you're not watching Phillips Jr.
- 29:29Speaker 3: at their running back spot, like that is different. And
- 29:33Speaker 3: I'm interested to see how they use him the rest
- 29:35Speaker 3: of the season. The run game, they have to have
- 29:39Speaker 3: a run game. That is who they're built on and
- 29:41Speaker 3: what they are. Frazier being healthy. Bowens is still out.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Their other running back, number two running back to start
- 29:46Speaker 3: the season. Had some injuries, just like everybody else, but
- 29:50Speaker 3: I think finding who they are. I don't expect Gunnar
- 29:52Speaker 3: Stockton to be that guy that he was in Auburn.
- 29:56Speaker 3: I think that's more of an anomaly, but taylor out
- 29:59Speaker 3: at wide receiver has has been uh he's been proving
- 30:01Speaker 3: himself williams at tight end you've known about lucky um
- 30:06Speaker 3: they've got a practice they've got a bunch of guys
- 30:07Speaker 3: now i think they can depend on and just like
- 30:09Speaker 3: when they played alabama and beat him like gunner completed
- 30:12Speaker 3: to 11 different receivers i think it's going to be
- 30:15Speaker 3: a different guy most of the time for for georgia's
- 30:17Speaker 3: offense but but they got enough dudes to.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Hurt you last one for you david Does the 2014
- 30:23Speaker 2: playoff destroy the fabric of college football, like many have argued,
- 30:28Speaker 2: moving from 12 to 24?
- 30:30Speaker 3: First of all, I'm going to answer this differently probably
- 30:33Speaker 3: than anybody you've had on and talk about this because
- 30:36Speaker 3: I don't meet very many people that like this. I mean,
- 30:39Speaker 3: I just don't. I don't. Like, literally, I did a
- 30:41Speaker 3: couple touchdown clubs in a row. I did, like, three
- 30:43Speaker 3: in 24 hours, and nobody raised their hand. Like, everybody
- 30:46Speaker 3: hates this. So I'm going to say this. I want
- 30:50Speaker 3: to propose something to actually make this better. Fine. We're
- 30:53Speaker 3: going to do this because of money. I get it.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I don't want to do it either. I like the exclusivity.
- 30:58Speaker 3: I love the importance of the regular season. If we're
- 31:01Speaker 3: going to do this, let's bring back elite rivalries like
- 31:05Speaker 3: we we now have a chance to change our schedule
- 31:07Speaker 3: and bring back. elite rivalries. You know what else? I'm
- 31:12Speaker 3: doing away with a non-conference. If you're going to do
- 31:14Speaker 3: this to me, we're doing away with a non-conference. And
- 31:16Speaker 3: you know what we're going to do? Every SEC team
- 31:18Speaker 3: is going to play a Big 12 team, a Big
- 31:20Speaker 3: 10 team, an ACC team. That's their out-of-conference schedule. They're
- 31:23Speaker 3: playing huge rivals. These games need to be Ohio State
- 31:27Speaker 3: and Texas. They need to freaking matter. Fine. Give me
- 31:31Speaker 3: better reasons to cheer. Give me more weeks that you're
- 31:34Speaker 3: looking at the schedule and you're like, oh my gosh,
- 31:36Speaker 3: this is amazing. If we can do that, there's no
- 31:39Speaker 3: reason why we shouldn't, by the way, because losses aren't
- 31:42Speaker 3: going to matter as much. But man, as a fan,
- 31:44Speaker 3: we would win because we would get... bigger, better rivalries
- 31:48Speaker 3: consistently and now bigger, better matchups. And every fan gets
- 31:52Speaker 3: to go. If you're a Tennessee fan, man, you're going
- 31:54Speaker 3: to Oregon for a game. Like how awesome is that?
- 31:58Speaker 3: That you get to go see different stadiums, different environments,
- 32:00Speaker 3: different conferences, more data points collected amongst each other. So
- 32:05Speaker 3: we're not going, oh, I think this conference is better. No,
- 32:07Speaker 3: this conference just beat the crap out of that conference, right?
- 32:09Speaker 3: Like I know they're better.
- 32:12Speaker 1: You just gave a nightmare to all of the SEC
- 32:14Speaker 1: coaches right there.
- 32:17Speaker 3: It might not be as much fun, but, like, listen,
- 32:20Speaker 3: I want to see great games. It doesn't matter.
- 32:22Speaker 1: It would be a blast. David, good to see you, man.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Let everyone know where they can find you.
- 32:28Speaker 3: See ball, get ball. You can see it over my head.
- 32:31Speaker 3: With my podcast, not creative, not smart, so that's the
- 32:34Speaker 3: best name, defensive player. You see the ball, you go
- 32:36Speaker 3: get it. We do it a little bit different, man,
- 32:38Speaker 3: but we have coaches. We do Saturday night recaps after
- 32:42Speaker 3: the game, and then we talk. a lot of the
- 32:44Speaker 3: matchups and all that good stuff. So if you want
- 32:45Speaker 3: to hear some college football talk, see ball, get ball, baby.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Absolutely. Hey, good to see you, man. We appreciate it.
- 32:50Speaker 3: See you guys. Thank y'all.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Thanks, David.
- 32:51Speaker 1: David Pollak, one of the best dudes right there.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Really good job on the recaps, too, on Saturday night,
- 32:57Speaker 2: going through different games across the SEC. A lot of
- 32:59Speaker 2: fun with his podcast. Doing great work.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Absolutely. Hey, Chad, coming up, you've got a doppelganger we'll discuss.
- 33:07Speaker 1: And we also have our lock of the week that's
- 33:10Speaker 1: also coming up over the next 20 minutes or so
- 33:13Speaker 1: here on Hunt & Withrow, presented by Hard Rock Bet. Hey,
- 33:16Speaker 1: let me tell you about XXXY Athletics. That's where you
- 33:19Speaker 1: can get the official Nashville Balls gear, founded by Jennifer Say, XXXY.
- 33:23Speaker 1: She's a former national champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president.
- 33:27Speaker 1: She walked away from a corporate job rather than to
- 33:29Speaker 1: say something that she didn't believe, and she started XXXY
- 33:32Speaker 1: Athletics instead. The mission, in their words, empower female athletes
- 33:36Speaker 1: and take a stand for fair competition. They call it
- 33:38Speaker 1: the T that launched a movement. This is real athletic apparel,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and you get the official balls gear right here at
- 33:43Speaker 1: the XXXY site, Jeff.
- 33:46Speaker 2: That's right. David Pollack laughed when he saw the logo.
- 33:49Speaker 2: He enjoyed it. He enjoyed it when he came on
- 33:51Speaker 2: with us. They're making the official Nashville Balls gear. Tees,
- 33:54Speaker 2: trucker hats, XXXY is where you can go get that.
- 33:57Speaker 2: New customers get 20% off your first order when you
- 33:59Speaker 2: sign up. And free shipping over $ 100, XXXYathletics.com. That's XX-XYathletics.com.
- 34:08Speaker 1: So what's it feel like to see your doppelganger? Because
- 34:11Speaker 1: I've felt this before at the Super Bowl with Trevor Simeon.
- 34:15Speaker 2: That was an odd experience when we saw Trevor Simeon.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I think his arm was in a sling. When he
- 34:20Speaker 2: saw me, too, he was like, what? Yeah, you both
- 34:22Speaker 2: just kind of stare at each other like, I'm looking
- 34:25Speaker 2: in the mirror here. You've been accused many times of
- 34:29Speaker 2: looking like Clay Travis.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Clay's got some more white in the hair and the beard,
- 34:33Speaker 2: I think, than you do now. So a little bit
- 34:35Speaker 2: of a difference with that. Hutton, on Friday night, I'm
- 34:39Speaker 2: calling a high school football game, and I get a
- 34:42Speaker 2: text from my buddy Vester. Vester McFarland, a guy I
- 34:45Speaker 2: grew up with, great dude, played the youth sports with
- 34:48Speaker 2: my whole life, played basketball with. And he just texted
- 34:52Speaker 2: me and said, I'm watching the World Series. And he said,
- 34:56Speaker 2: I'm watching the Miz, and all I keep thinking about
- 34:59Speaker 2: is your little face back in junior high. And he
- 35:03Speaker 2: looks like a junior high you. So I couldn't find
- 35:06Speaker 2: a junior high photo of myself, but here's me in
- 35:10Speaker 2: high school, in my high school basketball sweatshirt, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 2: many pounds ago.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Drainy threes.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, not as much age. This was before life.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Came in the way of young Chad. My whole life
- 35:24Speaker 2: in front of me, this Chad with right here thought
- 35:26Speaker 2: he was going to be an orthopedic surgeon. Thought he
- 35:28Speaker 2: was going to go to school and be pre-med. Dr. Withrow,
- 35:31Speaker 2: draining threes, averaging a hefty sum of points per game.
- 35:37Speaker 2: By hefty, 11 or 12 is hefty. That was me
- 35:41Speaker 2: in high school. So I was like, okay, I don't
- 35:43Speaker 2: see it. And during the game at halftime, I actually
- 35:45Speaker 2: looked up a picture of the Miz. And I'm like,
- 35:48Speaker 2: I kind of see it, but not as much. And
- 35:51Speaker 2: then I saw... this profile shot of the Miz last night.
- 35:56Speaker 2: And I'm like, yep, that's me.
- 35:58Speaker 3: That's it.
- 35:59Speaker 2: The Miz is way younger than I am, but that
- 36:00Speaker 2: is a young Chad Withrow. There is no doubt about it.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Same eye size, nose size. He's got tiny ears. And
- 36:08Speaker 2: I've told you how my high school basketball trainer, Sherry,
- 36:11Speaker 2: would sit next to me on the bench and just
- 36:13Speaker 2: marvel at how small my ears were. And she was like,
- 36:16Speaker 2: you've got some tiny little ears. I fouled out of
- 36:18Speaker 2: one game, and I sat next to Sherry, and she's
- 36:20Speaker 2: just staring and says, those are the smallest ears I've seen.
- 36:23Speaker 2: The Miz has some small ears. So, yeah, I'm watching this,
- 36:26Speaker 2: and I'm like, boy, my doppelganger is throwing 102 and
- 36:29Speaker 2: mowing down the Rays in a decisive World Series game.
- 36:32Speaker 2: So that right there is pretty cool. But Hutton, the
- 36:35Speaker 2: one that made my jaw drop the first time I
- 36:38Speaker 2: saw it, 2003, I'm working an internship in Atlanta. I'm
- 36:42Speaker 2: living with my cousin, David Knight, and his brother, Nathan Knight.
- 36:46Speaker 2: And we got really into Band of Brothers. Came out
- 36:49Speaker 2: in 2001. The Tom Hanks produced, Steven Spielberg produced series
- 36:54Speaker 2: about the 101st Airborne in Europe and their adventures across
- 36:58Speaker 2: Europe in World War II. So we're watching this, and
- 37:01Speaker 2: there's one episode, and I think the name of the
- 37:04Speaker 2: episode is The Replacements. And it's about all the replacement
- 37:08Speaker 2: troops that have to come in and the young guys
- 37:09Speaker 2: that who are out fighting for people who have deceased
- 37:13Speaker 2: or have been shipped off somewhere else. And there is
- 37:16Speaker 2: one moment in this episode where one of the actors
- 37:19Speaker 2: playing one of the soldiers, and I need to go
- 37:21Speaker 2: back and do a deep dive and find out the
- 37:23Speaker 2: name of the actor. I don't think this guy has
- 37:25Speaker 2: done anything before or since that's of note. But this
- 37:30Speaker 2: shot of this guy, this looks like AI put my
- 37:34Speaker 2: face at 22.
- 37:35Speaker 1: 23 years old on the face of this actor. I
- 37:41Speaker 1: see both like doppelgangers, both, both people. Yeah. But yeah, that, that's,
- 37:47Speaker 1: that would, that would spot on too.
- 37:49Speaker 2: That's the shot of him looking back. And that one
- 37:52Speaker 2: was crazy, but this guy is my true doppelganger, but yeah,
- 37:55Speaker 2: the Miz, Jacob Mizorowski might be another doppelganger of mine.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Thank you to Buster for pointing that out for the
- 38:02Speaker 2: first time. And now my entire family's on a group text,
- 38:05Speaker 2: cousins and aunts and uncles and everyone. And they're all
- 38:07Speaker 2: talking about how much the Miz is, Looks just like me.
- 38:11Speaker 1: See, I think if we went back to, I don't know,
- 38:14Speaker 1: it could be 2011, 2012, or maybe up towards 2017
- 38:19Speaker 1: or so. I think that version, that Withrow looks like
- 38:23Speaker 1: the Mids. More so than the high school Withrow. I'm
- 38:27Speaker 1: just recalling some pictures that we've been in through.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. To me, that's the one. We've got the
- 38:32Speaker 2: side-by-side of all three. I think also, but yeah, I think,
- 38:37Speaker 2: but that one's pretty spot on with the profile look too.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Like it's pretty close. Something else I noticed about the
- 38:44Speaker 2: Miz last night too, long torso, shorter legs, much like me.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Like I never could throw a baseball over a hundred
- 38:51Speaker 2: miles per hour, but he's got like the lower half.
- 38:55Speaker 2: That's a little bit more compact and powerful, but a
- 38:58Speaker 2: super long torso that makes him very tall, similar to
- 39:02Speaker 2: me in certain ways. Look, I can't fight it. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 2: I look like The Miz. I only wish I had
- 39:10Speaker 2: the arm strength of The Miz.
- 39:13Speaker 1: They say everyone has their doppelganger somewhere on Earth. JT, JT,
- 39:16Speaker 1: have you ever seen your doppelganger by chance?
- 39:21Speaker 2: Mine actually came at one point from a guy on Nashville,
- 39:26Speaker 2: the TV show. I'll send you guys a picture, see
- 39:29Speaker 2: if we can get it for you.
- 39:30Speaker 1: The end of the show.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I had more hair and a beard that was bigger,
- 39:35Speaker 2: but yeah, I'll find that for you, see if we
- 39:37Speaker 2: can get that before the end of the show. I'll
- 39:39Speaker 2: tell you right now, and if we can find a photo, great,
- 39:42Speaker 2: but JT is a white version of Daryl from The Office. Oh,
- 39:48Speaker 2: Craig Robinson. I have said this throughout. Now, Craig Robinson
- 39:52Speaker 2: has hair. JT no longer has hair. JT had his
- 39:54Speaker 2: hood up earlier, too. I didn't know if he was
- 39:56Speaker 2: trying to be Eminem from 8 Mile or if he
- 39:58Speaker 2: was really chilly in his place. But Daryl's entire demeanor,
- 40:02Speaker 2: it's more his speech pattern, how sarcastic he is. You
- 40:07Speaker 2: can't even tell if he's joking or not half the time.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, strike me down if I'm wrong.
- 40:13Speaker 2: JT is white Daryl from The Office.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I agree.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I have thought that since working with JT from years ago,
- 40:19Speaker 2: and I've told him that. He is white Craig Robinson.
- 40:22Speaker 2: I can hear it for sure, as you mentioned that,
- 40:24Speaker 2: from the office. I just searched it. I'm looking at
- 40:26Speaker 2: him sitting in the confessional where they're talking to the camera,
- 40:30Speaker 2: and he's like half trying not to laugh as he talks,
- 40:33Speaker 2: and he's just monotone in everything that he says, no
- 40:36Speaker 2: voice inflection, cracking jokes without letting on that he's cracking
- 40:41Speaker 2: a joke. I'm telling you, man. JT, Daryl from The Office.
- 40:44Speaker 2: There it is.
- 40:45Speaker 1: There he is. That's it.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Look at that. I'm looking at JT right now. This
- 40:49Speaker 2: is JT. Look at that. Take that hair off of
- 40:52Speaker 2: him and we've got JT. Getting a little bit more
- 40:55Speaker 2: white in the beard also at this point.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Greg from The Office. That's it.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Also a great cameo spot in Eastbound and Down for
- 41:02Speaker 2: Greg Robinson.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Oh, yes. Oh, absolutely.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I got some clips that I had forgotten about where
- 41:09Speaker 2: he's showing up at the strip club and That he
- 41:12Speaker 2: was at outside in the car and Kenny Powers was
- 41:13Speaker 2: trying to talk to him in the car. And he's
- 41:16Speaker 2: just crushing Kenny Powers. Gosh, what a show.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Oh, while he's sitting in the car?
- 41:20Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 2: He's like rolling the window down and rolling it back up.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 2: The whole time.
- 41:25Speaker 1: But they won't leave. The driver won't leave. Yep. Coming up,
- 41:30Speaker 1: we have our Hard Rock Lock of the Week. I
- 41:34Speaker 1: think Chad will believe I'm going out on a limb here,
- 41:37Speaker 1: but I'm 100% behind this pick. And I can't wait
- 41:41Speaker 1: to find out Chad Withrow's Friday Night Lock because it's
- 41:45Speaker 1: a winner. It is a winner. That's straight ahead here
- 41:48Speaker 1: on Head to Withrow. Right now, hardrock.bet.com where you go

- 42:15Speaker 1: out for the same game parlay profit boosts for the

- 42:24Speaker 1: and 6 p.m. Eastern, and you get your no-sweat bonus
- 42:26Speaker 1: bet you can use on any available NCAA football market

- 42:31Speaker 1: boost for college football. Sunday, you can choose your reward,
- 42:34Speaker 1: profit boost or a no-sweat bet. They've got plenty of
- 42:37Speaker 1: bonuses on the app. The app is super easy to use, Chad.
- 42:40Speaker 1: We're fans of it, and you can go download it now,
- 42:43Speaker 1: hardrock.bet.com to get new customers to take advantage of that
- 42:47Speaker 1: great offer.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And you can follow me on Friday nights where I've
- 42:51Speaker 2: done very, very well.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Chad, my Hard Rock Lock of the Week. Give me
- 42:57Speaker 1: Oregon minus two and a half. Against 6-1 Northwestern. Northwestern,
- 43:02Speaker 1: they haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Their FBS wins are against a combined record of 12-25.
- 43:10Speaker 1: They've lost three straight West Coast trips by double digits.
- 43:15Speaker 1: They gave up like 245 yards rushing last week. So
- 43:18Speaker 1: I think that Oregon's going to give them a heavy
- 43:20Speaker 1: dose of Davison and Hill. and I believe Oregon runs
- 43:24Speaker 1: the ball well on Saturday. Northwestern has to throw the
- 43:26Speaker 1: football to make up some ground, and I think the
- 43:29Speaker 1: Ducks secondary, they're tops in the conference with 10 interceptions.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Give me the Ducks to win by at least a
- 43:37Speaker 1: field goal here. Hutton, the initial line I saw, Oregon
- 43:42Speaker 1: was an underdog in this one also, and I think
- 43:45Speaker 1: it shifted. So at one point, I think, yeah, Northwestern
- 43:48Speaker 1: may have been A slight favorite. And getting it at
- 43:52Speaker 1: 2.5 good, because right now I know at Hard Rocket
- 43:55Speaker 1: he's crept up to Oregon minus 3.5. Okay, great.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I like it. I like it for Oregon minus 2.5.
- 44:01Speaker 2: To be honest, I don't have a lot of confidence
- 44:06Speaker 2: in my Friday night picks this week.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 44:08Speaker 2: I'm very confident moving forward, but I have waffled more
- 44:12Speaker 2: than I've waffled all season on Friday night. Every other
- 44:15Speaker 2: week I have seen it. I said Tulane is going
- 44:17Speaker 2: to beat. Memphis at home, or this is going to happen,
- 44:20Speaker 2: or even last week I felt really good about Virginia,
- 44:23Speaker 2: even though that one ended up not happening. I have
- 44:26Speaker 2: gone back and forth on UCF against Baylor. UCF coming
- 44:31Speaker 2: off that huge win over BYU this past week at home,
- 44:34Speaker 2: double overtime, they get it done. Baylor has just fired
- 44:37Speaker 2: their coach, and just like that UCF, BYU line was
- 44:41Speaker 2: very small, and we said, what does Vegas know? What
- 44:45Speaker 2: is happening here? Tennessee, South Carolina, Tennessee, two and a half.
- 44:48Speaker 2: And then suddenly it flipped. South Carolina, two and a
- 44:51Speaker 2: half point favorite. Why is UCF such a small favorite
- 44:54Speaker 2: over a team that just fired their coach? DJ Lagway
- 44:59Speaker 2: has gotten two coaches fired now. Billy Napier at Florida
- 45:02Speaker 2: and Dave Aranda at Baylor. What is Vegas seeing here
- 45:05Speaker 2: that I'm not? I'm going to go with my gut
- 45:07Speaker 2: on this one. I don't think UCF has a big
- 45:09Speaker 2: letdown after their big win over BYU. They're at home
- 45:12Speaker 2: at the bounce house on a Friday night. Hudden, everybody
- 45:15Speaker 2: knows you don't walk into the bounce house on a
- 45:17Speaker 2: Friday night and walk away with a win easily. Give
- 45:20Speaker 2: me the nights of UCF minus one and a half
- 45:23Speaker 2: at home against Baylor.
- 45:25Speaker 1: We're doing it right now. Let's play it up.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Play it up. But again, I cannot say that I'm
- 45:32Speaker 2: fully confident in either one of these picks.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I'm confident in your picks just based on your records.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Just based on your record, there it is. Chad Withrow,
- 45:41Speaker 1: 15-2 this season on Friday night college football bets. 88%
- 45:45Speaker 1: win rate.
- 45:46Speaker 2: May I not be 15-4 on this graphic when we
- 45:49Speaker 2: come back on Monday. That is my solemn prayer and
- 45:53Speaker 2: hope for this weekend, that I can come back and
- 45:55Speaker 2: at least be 16-3, hopefully 17-2 after these two Friday
- 45:59Speaker 2: night bets.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so our bundle from yesterday, going for the bundle, Charlotte, Purdue,
- 46:06Speaker 1: and Ole Miss. Charlotte getting 11.5. Ole Miss, I'm laying
- 46:10Speaker 1: 12 against Auburn. And JT grabs 8.5 points for Purdue
- 46:17Speaker 1: against Penn State. This is our bundle pick. You bet
- 46:21Speaker 1: these individually. I parlayed them yesterday. Let's go. Let's go, gents.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Let's win with hard rock.
- 46:28Speaker 2: I don't feel that great about either one of my
- 46:31Speaker 2: picks this week. Look, I'm the first to say I
- 46:33Speaker 2: hope I'm wrong. I hope they both win, but I
- 46:35Speaker 2: am not rolling into Friday night with a lot of
- 46:37Speaker 2: confidence like I have been. Oh. Which is crazy to
- 46:41Speaker 2: say for someone who's 15-2 on Friday night.
- 46:43Speaker 3: I know.
- 46:43Speaker 2: I do not have much confidence in these games. So, look,
- 46:46Speaker 2: this could, I mean, prove me wrong here.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Let's go Charlotte. We need Charlotte and UCF to prove
- 46:52Speaker 2: me wrong, but I am very doubtful right now about
- 46:55Speaker 2: both those. Even now I'm going back in my mind
- 46:58Speaker 2: and feeling like, should have taken Tulane in that game.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Should have taken Baylor. They're going to get that jump
- 47:05Speaker 2: start with the new interim coach situation, but I'm sticking
- 47:09Speaker 2: with UCF. I'm sticking with Charlotte.
- 47:11Speaker 1: See, I don't buy into all the interim coach stuff
- 47:13Speaker 1: all the time. Not whenever you're going on the road
- 47:16Speaker 1: and stuff like that. I think if they were hosting,
- 47:18Speaker 1: maybe you get a little bump. I don't see that here.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I think the bump is temporary is the thing. I'm
- 47:24Speaker 2: only worried about the bump in this game for Baylor
- 47:26Speaker 2: because it's usually like one game and then everybody's celebrating. Oh,
- 47:31Speaker 2: our players played so free out there tonight. We were
- 47:33Speaker 2: united this week and this and that. But it goes
- 47:36Speaker 2: away quickly. Like the games after that, it goes downhill
- 47:39Speaker 2: when you've got a lame duck interim situation. But I
- 47:42Speaker 2: do fear that one game bump for Baylor firing Dave
- 47:45Speaker 2: Aranda this week going into this game.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Jed, the Milwaukee Brewers. 13 postseason games played, 11 wins,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and they trailed in nine of them. That's insane. That's
- 48:00Speaker 1: a buzzsaw. The Dodgers and the Rays had one win
- 48:05Speaker 1: combined against them. That is nuts, man. Does this help
- 48:10Speaker 1: or hurt the argument that the small market teams can't
- 48:12Speaker 1: compete with the big boys? Because what we just saw was.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Oh, it hurts him. I know.
- 48:18Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no doubt.
- 48:20Speaker 1: They're trying to make the case for– like teams like
- 48:22Speaker 1: Milwaukee trying to make the case for a salary cap.
- 48:23Speaker 1: It's hard to do that when you're with World Series
- 48:26Speaker 1: for the first time.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Well, here's what the problem with it is. And, look,
- 48:32Speaker 2: if the Dodgers would have won, it would have been easy. Hey, look,
- 48:34Speaker 2: here's the problem. They're the problem.
- 48:36Speaker 1: They've won three in a row.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 48:37Speaker 2: And nobody can catch them. But the Brewers– You know
- 48:39Speaker 2: you're going for a lockout.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Yep.
- 48:41Speaker 2: The Brewers got in the way and swept the Dodgers
- 48:43Speaker 2: in that series. Yep. The issue, though, is, and I
- 48:45Speaker 2: saw Pat Murphy, who I love, the manager for the Brewers,
- 48:48Speaker 2: and I forget the player. I think it's his first
- 48:50Speaker 2: baseman for the Brewers. But he was hugging someone and
- 48:53Speaker 2: talking to them, and it's caught on camera postgame. And
- 48:55Speaker 2: he says, you are about to be effing rich because
- 48:58Speaker 2: he's about to be a free agent. And he said,
- 49:01Speaker 2: and I'll be watching you when you're on that horse
- 49:04Speaker 2: shit Yankees team next year, he said. He says that
- 49:07Speaker 2: to him, and it's caught on camera as he's hugging him.
- 49:11Speaker 2: That's the problem. Right, like he knows they have no
- 49:14Speaker 2: chance to re-sign that guy in Milwaukee. And now the
- 49:18Speaker 2: joke is some team that's got all the money. but
- 49:20Speaker 2: isn't really a team is going to go bring him
- 49:23Speaker 2: on and now he's going to be on that as
- 49:24Speaker 2: he said that that horse shit Yankees team next year
- 49:27Speaker 2: from Pat Murphy which is hilarious.
- 49:30Speaker 1: I mean that's exactly what will happen Lutz has the
- 49:35Speaker 1: doppelganger for me with Trevor Simeon remember this.
- 49:37Speaker 3: At the.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Oh, that's so good. This is pre-beard Hutton.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Yeah, pre-beard. I don't know what kind of shirt I'm
- 49:45Speaker 1: wearing there either. But, yeah, there's Trevor Simeon. We saw
- 49:50Speaker 1: each other. We're like, what is going on with– who
- 49:52Speaker 1: is that?
- 49:54Speaker 2: Incredible. Spot on. I mean, we saw him across the room.
- 49:58Speaker 2: It's just like yours. This is the guy. By the way,
- 50:00Speaker 2: it was Jake Bowers was the player Pat Murphy was
- 50:02Speaker 2: talking to on camera. And he did say, yeah, you're
- 50:06Speaker 2: going to be playing for that. We're all going to
- 50:09Speaker 2: be playing for yourselves on that horseshit Yankees team you're
- 50:12Speaker 2: about to join, but you're going to be rich, so congratulations,
- 50:15Speaker 2: is what he told him post-game after winning the World Series.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Coming up next is the next round. Check them out
- 50:23Speaker 1: right now on Sport and State.
