- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are. This is our last
- 0:02Speaker 1: break of the day. The show is almost done. Thank
- 0:07Speaker 1: you for listening. We appreciate it. Steve, give us some
- 0:10Speaker 1: closing remarks please, Hey.
- 0:12Speaker 2: You know what this is for young people, grown men too.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I want you all to think about this. You know,
- 0:21Speaker 2: in light of the recent tragedy that had happened at
- 0:25Speaker 2: the track meet in Texas between this young African American
- 0:30Speaker 2: boy and his young white kid, where that whatever happened,
- 0:36Speaker 2: how it happened. Yet what ended up happening was this
- 0:39Speaker 2: young black boy reached in his book bag and got
- 0:44Speaker 2: a knife out and stabbed this white kid. Now, the
- 0:47Speaker 2: tragedy in this is that this one young man is dead,
- 0:52Speaker 2: he's gone man, and and over what over? But the
- 1:01Speaker 2: other tragedy is this black boy who was seventeen years old,
- 1:06Speaker 2: just got thirty five years. He's ruined a great portion
- 1:11Speaker 2: of his life and over what you know. Look, I
- 1:17Speaker 2: know we have this Second Amendment in this country that
- 1:21Speaker 2: allows everybody to bear arms. I got that, and the
- 1:28Speaker 2: gun laws in this country are loose. This wasn't even
- 1:31Speaker 2: a gun law. This was a knife incident. But what
- 1:35Speaker 2: I want to say to young people is if you
- 1:38Speaker 2: carry a weapon of any kind, I want you to
- 1:43Speaker 2: understand that now that weapon becomes an option. So if
- 1:50Speaker 2: you run up into any conflict, your resolution skills are
- 1:57Speaker 2: up only up to a certain point. I've always used
- 2:02Speaker 2: my mouth to resolve matters. Even growing up, I never
- 2:05Speaker 2: carried a weapon because you know, at one point in time,
- 2:09Speaker 2: it's gonna come down to it. But we're gonna throw
- 2:11Speaker 2: these hands. If we couldn't resolve it, we was gonna
- 2:15Speaker 2: throw these hands. That's not the world we live in today.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So what I want you young people out there is considered,
- 2:22Speaker 2: is the option that you're carrying comes with consequences, dire results.
- 2:32Speaker 2: If this young man didn't have a knife in his
- 2:35Speaker 2: book bag, we wouldn't even be having this conversation because
- 2:39Speaker 2: this incident would have resolved itself some other way. Look, man,
- 2:46Speaker 2: this is a tragedy on so many levels. But if
- 2:49Speaker 2: you didn't have this knife, none of this happened. This
- 2:53Speaker 2: stand your ground. It don't matter when you got to
- 2:56Speaker 2: do time this self defense. It don't matter when you
- 3:00Speaker 2: lose thirty five years of your life. It don't matter
- 3:04Speaker 2: when a young boy loses his life over what. I
- 3:10Speaker 2: cannot think of anything that I've ever argued about with anybody,
- 3:17Speaker 2: any conflict I've had with anybody where the best results
- 3:21Speaker 2: would be one of us to lose our life. But
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know what, I removed the gun and the knife
- 3:31Speaker 2: as an option, because then, guess what when you don't
- 3:36Speaker 2: have a knife or a gun, here's what the options become.
- 3:41Speaker 2: All right, man, my bad? I bet you, I bet
- 3:45Speaker 2: you bet not push me again? Did he push you again?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Then you swing on him. Eventually all fights get broken
- 3:52Speaker 2: up or stop for some reason. That would have been it.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Oh hey, man, how about this one? All right, my bad,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'm out and just walk away. Man, any one of
- 4:06Speaker 2: them options would have been better a fistfight and embarrassment,
- 4:11Speaker 2: they calling you chicken you walked away. Any of them
- 4:17Speaker 2: options would have been better, man, than this young boy
- 4:20Speaker 2: losing his life. And now you, Fina sit at seventeen
- 4:25Speaker 2: in a prison cell for thirty five years in the
- 4:29Speaker 2: Texas Department of Corrections. This is heartbreaking all the way
- 4:35Speaker 2: around the board. So what I'm saying to you is this,
- 4:39Speaker 2: whatever decision you make, I want you all to remember
- 4:42Speaker 2: that all these decisions come with a consequence. These young
- 4:46Speaker 2: boys that carry guns everywhere, it's a fourteen year old
- 4:52Speaker 2: had a gun on him. Why at fourteen? Man, let
- 4:57Speaker 2: me tell y'all something. The hood ain't that hard. You
- 5:03Speaker 2: can say it is, and you can make it up
- 5:04Speaker 2: if you want to. Now, if you're living in one
- 5:07Speaker 2: of these gang bangle cultures, which is complete ignorance. Again,
- 5:13Speaker 2: if you cripping in blood and then you out here, man,
- 5:16Speaker 2: I got news for you, partner. You out here cripping
- 5:20Speaker 2: in blood for no red crips and bloods don't even
- 5:22Speaker 2: know why they banging. Ask them. They don't even know
- 5:29Speaker 2: this territory you fighting. You ain't even homeowners in it? Yup, man,
- 5:33Speaker 2: this is so crazy what we're doing. Man. Now, listen,
- 5:39Speaker 2: all this happened to this young man who lost his life,
- 5:44Speaker 2: and all this happened to this young man who's on trial,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and now he's faced with what we got to deal with,
- 5:49Speaker 2: all our lives and all white jewelry. How you think
- 5:54Speaker 2: that's gonna work out? All white jewelry. A seventeen black
- 6:00Speaker 2: person kills a white person. Twelve jury members of his
- 6:05Speaker 2: peers they picked all white. You don't stand a chance.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Keep yourself out these situations. Young people. Stop carrying guns
- 6:16Speaker 2: and knives and find another way to resolve confluence. It
- 6:20Speaker 2: is always good to walk away, live to see another day. Man,
- 6:27Speaker 2: It's what a tragic situation. Let's make better choices. Y'all.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Get in these kids' heads fathers. Tell them you don't
- 6:33Speaker 2: need that, all right, I have a great day to day.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Talk to God. He loved here from.
