- Ben: Morning and welcome to your short-term mental bulletin on the 27th of August. So I thought we'd go to Wales today. because if you take one booking in Wales, you now have a legal deadline. And I think that's worth talking about. So registration within the Wealth Welsh Revenue Authority opens in October, and every provider has to be registered by the 31st of March 2027. The trigger is any booking of 31 nights or less. So it catches a cottage, a campsite pitch, a shepherd's hut, a spare room, let it once a year for a local event, that kind of thing. Miss it, and the first penalty is £100 per premises. So if you're still not registered in 30 days after that notice, it becomes £10 a day for the next 30 days, then up to a thousand, then up to £1,400 per property, charged per premises rather than per business. And if you use a manager, check this one. Agents and management companies are not responsible for registering. They can do it for you, but the liability stays with the provider. The register is public, premises, address, accommodation type, bookable units, and macular and occupancy all searchable by postcode. And any change has to be notified within 30 days. And this is the first of the three. The visitor levy can start from April 2027. Licensing follows with statutory backstops of March 2029 and for parts of it and March 2030 for the rest. So registering is free. It takes under 15 minutes. Not rest registering runs a 50, a 1400 pound per property risk. So that's your Thursday bulletin, and I'll see you tomorrow. Thank you for watching.
