Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Inside Lucy & Nikki’s Live Show Drama: The Tammy Roast
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I'm Kate Torber. I'm Amy Torber. And I'm Sophie Torber.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And on today's show, we're giving the people what they've
- 0:15Speaker 1: been asking for, all the tea from the Lucy and
- 0:18Speaker 1: Nikki live show.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It is blowing up on social media.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The podcasters have been criticized over their explosive.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Interview with Tammy Hembrough.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And I don't know how we managed this one, but
- 0:28Speaker 1: we absolutely lucked out because it's We were there. Yeah,
- 0:31Speaker 1: funnily enough, we were the other surprise guest of the night.
- 0:34Speaker 1: We came out early in the piece to roast Lucy
- 0:37Speaker 1: and Nikki.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they've done this in their other shows before.
- 0:40Speaker 1: They've done a countdown of all of their sort of
- 0:43Speaker 1: worst moments, I suppose, that they've been roasted for over
- 0:46Speaker 1: the years. And I know at the Melbourne show, they
- 0:48Speaker 1: had Amber from Influencer Updates come out and roast them.
- 0:52Speaker 2: For Adelaide, they thought it was fitting that we came out.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I loved the idea. It was hilarious. And it was
- 0:57Speaker 2: so lovely of the girls to invite us to the show.
- 0:59Speaker 1: What's really funny is we agreed to do this months ago,
- 1:02Speaker 1: but we only found out last week that Tammy was
- 1:05Speaker 1: also going to be appearing. And to be honest, we
- 1:07Speaker 1: were like, geez, this is going to be pretty awkward
- 1:10Speaker 1: backstage because we've spoken a lot about Tammy. And also
- 1:15Speaker 1: just recently, Tammy's boyfriend, Grayson, blocked us on Instagram. Well,
- 1:19Speaker 1: we did hear whispers that they were going to try
- 1:21Speaker 1: and keep us separate backstage. But I mean, which made
- 1:24Speaker 1: me feel worse because I was like, I don't know
- 1:26Speaker 1: if she necessarily has a problem.
- 1:28Speaker 2: With us, but maybe it's confirmed.
- 1:30Speaker 1: To be honest, I did get a weird vibe from them,
- 1:32Speaker 1: but it was awkward for them too. Like it was
- 1:35Speaker 1: awkward for everybody involved. I have heard that Tammy's really shy.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And sometimes I think when you are shy, it can
- 1:41Speaker 1: be misconstrued as being a bit standoffish. I totally understand
- 1:43Speaker 1: why she didn't come up and say hello. I wanted to,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but I was hoping maybe at some point in the
- 1:48Speaker 1: night we were introduced rather than to just do the
- 1:51Speaker 1: blind walking up.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So, I mean, yeah, I totally get it on her end.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It was fascinating to see her in the wild and
- 1:58Speaker 1: see her interactions with Grayson.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I mean, they were very loved up backstage. Yeah, they were.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And it looked like he was having a great time
- 2:06Speaker 1: being there. Like you could tell he was absolutely wrapped
- 2:09Speaker 1: to be backstage. He looked in awe of Tammy as well.
- 2:12Speaker 1: He was actually side stage when she was being interviewed filming. Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He literally looked like the mum from Mean Girls that
- 2:18Speaker 1: was sort of like, yeah, you're doing great, sweetie.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But I also get the vibe that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: He was hanging out backstage in the hope that he
- 2:25Speaker 1: would be asked to come on stage.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And spoiler alert, he ended up on stage. He pashed
- 2:30Speaker 1: her in front of everyone. They spoke about their relationship.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I actually couldn't believe what I was seeing.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 2: It was pretty wild.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And obviously we're going to delve into that deeper later
- 2:38Speaker 1: in the show. But to give you guys some more
- 2:40Speaker 1: backstage tea, another person that we were concerned about running
- 2:44Speaker 1: into was Nikki's husband, Ollie Frost. And that's because we've
- 2:48Speaker 1: spoken a lot about his business dealings in the past,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but he was really lovely.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 1: They were all lovely and very mature about the situation.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I think that they understand that we're journalists and we
- 2:58Speaker 1: are simply covering pop culture news. In terms of the
- 3:01Speaker 1: roast that we did ahead of time, we had to
- 3:04Speaker 1: provide the team with some questions.
- 3:06Speaker 2: To be approved.
- 3:07Speaker 1: They did tell us on a Zoom call that there
- 3:09Speaker 1: were certain areas that we weren't allowed to touch on,
- 3:12Speaker 1: which I totally understand, but the girls were happy to
- 3:14Speaker 1: have some fun with that. I mean, we asked about
- 3:16Speaker 1: Lily Brown, about Lucy's recent bid to give up alcohol.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You breath tested her live on stage, Amy. Yeah, that
- 3:23Speaker 2: was a bit of fun.
- 3:24Speaker 1: We also asked them about what the worst tattoos they've
- 3:26Speaker 1: ever seen at their Jagger and Stone parties have been
- 3:29Speaker 1: because they're quite infamous for having a tattoo artist there.
- 3:32Speaker 2: We also had a question about Tammy.
- 3:33Speaker 1: This is despite the fact that people didn't know she
- 3:35Speaker 1: was a special guest yet because listeners will remember that
- 3:39Speaker 1: Nikki put up a TikTok recently saying that she wants
- 3:42Speaker 1: to have Tammy on the podcast so she can answer
- 3:45Speaker 1: who she would fuck, marry.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Kill and out of all of her exes.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So we put the question onto Lucy and Nikki as
- 3:51Speaker 1: to who they would pick.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone was like, fuck Reese, fuck Reese.
- 3:54Speaker 1: The irony is not lost on me that we were
- 3:56Speaker 1: brought on the show to roast Lucy and Nikki, but
- 3:59Speaker 1: it's actually their roast of Tammy Hembrough that has gone
- 4:02Speaker 1: completely viral and has now become the biggest pop culture
- 4:05Speaker 1: story that we have dedicated a whole episode.
- 4:07Speaker 2: About and spoken to it. Yeah, but it wasn't meant
- 4:09Speaker 2: to be a roast.
- 4:10Speaker 1: It was meant to be a game of say it
- 4:12Speaker 1: or shot it that just went absolutely rogue. The thing is,
- 4:14Speaker 1: anyone who knows Tammy Hembrough, and I feel like most
- 4:17Speaker 1: people who listen to the podcast and the recent deep
- 4:19Speaker 1: dive that you did, Kate, feel like.
- 4:21Speaker 2: They know her quite well.
- 4:23Speaker 1: She is not a public speaker. Even though she puts
- 4:26Speaker 1: her life out online, she's very shy. And she doesn't
- 4:30Speaker 1: usually appear on a lot of podcasts or live shows.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So I think it was quite big for her to
- 4:36Speaker 1: be part of the show. I also want to point out,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I forgot to say this earlier, but we weren't paid
- 4:42Speaker 1: to be on the show. We gave up our time
- 4:44Speaker 1: for free. However- I get the vibe maybe Tammy was paid.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Well, we don't know what the arrangement was. We weren't
- 4:49Speaker 2: privy to that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: But she was flown out from the Gold Coast, put
- 4:53Speaker 1: up in a hotel, you know, five-star treatment, hair and makeup, done. Now,
- 4:57Speaker 1: a lot of people are wondering if Tammy was aware
- 4:59Speaker 1: of the questions she was going to be asked on stage.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Lucy and Nikki have come out and said she approved
- 5:05Speaker 1: the questions. Do you guys think that this was actually
- 5:07Speaker 1: the case? Well, I mean, during the interview, they brought
- 5:11Speaker 1: up questions that they said, oh, we know you didn't
- 5:12Speaker 1: approve this one, but we're going to ask it anyway.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think that's just what happens on stage though. I mean,
- 5:17Speaker 1: when we were doing our roast, we had a set
- 5:19Speaker 1: of approved questions, as I said, but sometimes you go
- 5:21Speaker 1: off topic and, you know, one conversation leads to another.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So I understand how it happens. I understand that.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But to be completely honest, I was pretty shocked by
- 5:32Speaker 1: the interview. It ran for about 20 minutes. It was
- 5:34Speaker 1: at the end of the show.
- 5:35Speaker 2: So at this point, Lucy in particular was rather intoxicated.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Like it was quite apparent. The whole crowd was rowdy.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I mean, for context, this show is called the Party
- 5:46Speaker 1: Girl Tour and most of the people in attendance were
- 5:48Speaker 1: utilising the bar at the venue. Apparently the audience at
- 5:51Speaker 1: these shows are renowned for running up the biggest bar
- 5:54Speaker 1: tab at any of these venues. And it was pretty
- 5:56Speaker 1: funny because we were a little bit nervous to go
- 5:58Speaker 1: out on stage. This is our first live event.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Our best friend text us and said, oh, don't be nervous.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Everyone's drunk in the crowd.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Well, I could tell because I was glad that we
- 6:08Speaker 1: got the warning because when we went out on stage
- 6:10Speaker 1: and putting into perspective, I think that our segment was
- 6:13Speaker 1: on in the first 10 minutes and.
- 6:15Speaker 2: The crowd was already rowdy. Like people were talking. You
- 6:18Speaker 2: could hear. Like you couldn't hear yourself think because everyone
- 6:21Speaker 2: was talking.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And I think about 20 minutes into the show, Lucy
- 6:25Speaker 1: and Nicky had to tell everyone to quiet down and
- 6:27Speaker 1: shut up. And that's not that surprising because that is
- 6:30Speaker 1: Lucy and Nikki's brand. They're known as Party Girls. So
- 6:33Speaker 1: I wasn't really surprised by the vibe at the venue. Yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, if people have paid, what,
- 6:38Speaker 1: like 110 bucks for a ticket, you might actually want
- 6:41Speaker 1: to sit and listen to what's happening on stage. I
- 6:43Speaker 1: have to admit, I was pretty shocked by the whole
- 6:45Speaker 1: thing because I know people, you know, get up and
- 6:47Speaker 1: about for the live show, but I was like, you're
- 6:50Speaker 1: not even listening to any of it.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Like, how are you enjoying it?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Like a lot of people were just sitting, chatting to
- 6:55Speaker 1: their friends really loudly. I mean, in some of the
- 6:57Speaker 1: clips we posted from the show, people were commenting saying,
- 7:00Speaker 1: oh my God, how rude is everyone talking while there's
- 7:03Speaker 1: a guest on stage?
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 1: At one stage I turned to my friend and I
- 7:06Speaker 1: was like, This feels a lot like a Jerry Springer show.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I think we need to get into what actually happened
- 7:10Speaker 1: on stage with Tammy Hembrough. As we said, she was
- 7:14Speaker 1: their big surprise guest. So no one knew she was
- 7:16Speaker 1: going to be there. And they do this whole thing
- 7:19Speaker 1: where they bring out the Sally of the show. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: so they played the music and she came out. And
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think people were absolutely shocked. I remember being shocked
- 7:27Speaker 1: when I first heard it. I'm like, that is such
- 7:29Speaker 1: a good get for Adelaide. Yeah, particularly because this is
- 7:31Speaker 1: a tour of the forgotten cities. So Again, hats off
- 7:34Speaker 1: to the girls for pulling out a big guest like this. Now,
- 7:37Speaker 1: as I mentioned earlier, it was quite clear at this
- 7:40Speaker 1: point of the show that Lucy was quite intoxicated.
- 7:43Speaker 2: She didn't have much of a filter. Yeah, we should
- 7:45Speaker 2: have brought the breathalyzer out then.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Well, she was drinking on stage. They all were.
- 7:50Speaker 1: It's funny because in our segment, the joke was that
- 7:52Speaker 1: we were breathalysing Lucy to make sure things didn't get
- 7:55Speaker 1: out of control, like at their COVID event.
- 7:57Speaker 2: But I actually got flashbacks to that show while I
- 8:00Speaker 2: was watching the Adelaide show. Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So basically they explained to the crowd, look, we're going
- 8:05Speaker 1: to do this say it or shot it thing. And
- 8:07Speaker 1: Tammy was visibly nervous. Like, as you guys have said,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I've got a PhD in Tammy Hembrough. I was the
- 8:12Speaker 1: one that put the whole deep dive together. And I
- 8:15Speaker 1: actually pinpointed, I thought her voice sounded different. I'm guessing
- 8:18Speaker 1: that was because she was so nervous. actually felt really
- 8:21Speaker 1: sorry for her because not only did she look visibly
- 8:24Speaker 1: nervous and uncomfortable, but she said, look, guys, I'm really nervous.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And she wasn't putting it on. They even had to
- 8:29Speaker 1: run a bottle of water out to her on stage. Yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you could tell she was actually getting like a dry,
- 8:34Speaker 1: nervous throat. Now, they also bought out a bottle of
- 8:37Speaker 1: what they claimed was tequila. And they said, you know,
- 8:40Speaker 1: take a shot if you don't want to answer questions.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And the first question they threw to her was, are
- 8:45Speaker 1: you pregnant? And it was at this point I knew
- 8:47Speaker 1: that there was no holding back. Let's take a listen
- 8:50Speaker 1: to her answer.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Truth, are you pregnant? Definitely not pregnant.
- 8:57Speaker 4: I'm pregnant right now. Pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, pregnant. Oh,
- 9:10Speaker 4: she's not pregnant. Don't be offended by this, but.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I always say to Nikki, Tammy's had more baby daddies
- 9:15Speaker 2: than I have roots in the last few years. My
- 9:23Speaker 2: jaw was on the floor.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And I know that these girls have been friends for
- 9:28Speaker 1: the past 10 years. And obviously, this is clearly something
- 9:31Speaker 1: that you can only say to a close friend. But
- 9:34Speaker 1: Tammy didn't look happy. But you could tell that she
- 9:36Speaker 1: was kind of pissed off. I noticed that Tammy looked
- 9:38Speaker 1: at Nikki in this sort of desperation. And I could
- 9:41Speaker 1: tell she was sort of pleading with her to rein
- 9:44Speaker 1: Lucy in a little bit.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Someone made a really good point online.
- 9:47Speaker 1: They said that they felt uncomfortable that Tammy was asked
- 9:50Speaker 1: to confirm that she wasn't pregnant by taking a shot
- 9:52Speaker 1: of alcohol because they said, well, if she is potentially
- 9:56Speaker 1: in the early stages of pregnancy and she doesn't want
- 9:58Speaker 1: people to know about it, she might have felt really
- 10:01Speaker 1: pressured in that moment to just try and get everyone
- 10:03Speaker 1: off the scent by taking a shot. Yeah, because as
- 10:05Speaker 1: we mentioned, Lucy and Nikki said the questions were approved,
- 10:08Speaker 1: but I'm guessing not the manner in which they were asked. Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I get that it was a sad or shot at game,
- 10:14Speaker 1: but when she has answered the question or taken the
- 10:17Speaker 1: shot because she doesn't want to ask, I don't think
- 10:19Speaker 1: it's helpful to then follow up with a comment about
- 10:22Speaker 1: how she has more baby daddies than you've had roots.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Like, yeah, it was at that moment I reckon Tammy
- 10:27Speaker 1: was like, why the fuck did I agree to be
- 10:30Speaker 1: on this podcast live show? I was actually thinking, are
- 10:33Speaker 1: they legitimately friends or is this just a stitch up?
- 10:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 1: The thought crossed my mind too, especially when they then
- 10:40Speaker 1: told a story about how Tammy paid Lucy's brother $ 300
- 10:44Speaker 1: to walk her vape across the street to a restaurant
- 10:47Speaker 1: that they were dining at. I reckon I've heard that
- 10:49Speaker 1: story before. That rang a bell. It does paint a
- 10:55Speaker 1: particular picture of her and her lifestyle. Yeah, she wouldn't
- 10:58Speaker 1: have been happy with that because it doesn't really fit
- 11:00Speaker 1: into her lifestyle of Tammy feared and living a healthy lifestyle. No,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I mean, she quickly prefaced saying, oh, this is from
- 11:07Speaker 1: years and years ago, like back in the day. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: did have someone next to me elbow me and go,
- 11:11Speaker 1: was this yesterday? I think the question that took the
- 11:15Speaker 1: wind out of me the most was when they shouted
- 11:17Speaker 1: at her and said, are you poor? And this was
- 11:19Speaker 1: off the back of them asking why she's selling her
- 11:22Speaker 1: Gold Coast mansion. And she went into the fact that
- 11:25Speaker 1: Apparently she doesn't have much of a backyard and that
- 11:27Speaker 1: her kids have always wanted to grow up with chickens.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean, we've discussed this on the show before.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we should throw to the comment to
- 11:33Speaker 2: give it context. People want to know, are.
- 11:36Speaker 3: You selling your house? I am.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Are you?
- 11:39Speaker 3: Why?
- 11:40Speaker 2: I have wanted to sell it for like a long time.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And I just want some land. I want some chickens.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Sass wants a bird.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I want to like build a playground in the backyard.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I don't have like a yard. And also, are you poor?
- 11:59Speaker 1: No. She's not poor. What's wild is it then segued
- 12:04Speaker 1: into them asking her about closing her activewear brand, Sasky.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And she went on to say that she felt really
- 12:10Speaker 1: good about it and it's the best thing that she's
- 12:13Speaker 1: done for her career. It was pretty interesting because Tammy
- 12:15Speaker 1: actually admitted that she feels like she should have ended
- 12:17Speaker 1: the business a few years earlier because it was draining her.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And it seems like when her manager went on maternity leave,
- 12:23Speaker 1: that was the point where she was like, I can't
- 12:25Speaker 1: do it anymore because she was having to manage everyone.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And she said she just couldn't. She's not someone that
- 12:29Speaker 2: can manage people.
- 12:30Speaker 1: The girls also asked Tammy a question that they themselves
- 12:34Speaker 1: said has been on everyone's lips since it happened. And
- 12:37Speaker 1: that was around what happened at Kylie Jenner's birthday party
- 12:41Speaker 1: back in the day. Now, it was at this point
- 12:43Speaker 1: that Tammy was like, no, no, no, I'm going to
- 12:45Speaker 1: shot it. Like, I actually can't say anything about this.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And the look in her eyes was like, you cannot
- 12:52Speaker 1: ask me about this. But they actually kept pushing and
- 12:55Speaker 1: pushing her. Let's take a listen to more of what happened.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I just feel like to me, LA is a bit
- 13:20Speaker 1: of a dark place and there's some dark people.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So hence why I haven't been back there for a
- 13:26Speaker 2: half minute. So after saying that, she then took a
- 13:29Speaker 2: shot because obviously she didn't want to speak more about it.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I felt quite sick listening to that because from the inference,
- 13:36Speaker 1: it sounds like something quite bad happened to her. I
- 13:40Speaker 1: think the reason that Lucy and Nikki felt comfortable to
- 13:42Speaker 1: ask this question is because there was the opportunity to
- 13:45Speaker 1: for Tammy to say no and take a shot? I
- 13:48Speaker 1: actually think they were genuinely surprised by her answer because
- 13:52Speaker 1: they were like, oh, we thought it was a bit
- 13:54Speaker 1: off when we heard the news because Tammy can party
- 13:57Speaker 1: and is like a brick wall and, you know, nothing
- 13:59Speaker 1: stops her.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It makes me wonder.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Well, if you guys have been friends for 10 years,
- 14:03Speaker 1: wouldn't you have had that conversation before though?
- 14:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Well, I feel like maybe over the years they've had
- 14:08Speaker 1: a few falling outs. Like I don't necessarily think they've
- 14:10Speaker 1: been friends or best buddies the whole time. Yeah. But
- 14:13Speaker 1: are they actually genuine friends that go out for dinners
- 14:15Speaker 1: and stuff or are they just party friends?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Well, that was the other thing. On stage, they brought
- 14:19Speaker 2: up the.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Fact that they weren't invited to her and Matt Zukowski's wedding.
- 14:25Speaker 2: And you could tell there was a bit of awkward
- 14:27Speaker 2: tension there.
- 14:28Speaker 1: They also asked her how much her wedding to Matt
- 14:30Speaker 1: Zukowski cost. And She admitted that she couldn't remember the
- 14:34Speaker 1: full amount, but that it was a good day. She
- 14:37Speaker 1: then added that she apparently paid for the whole thing,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but we have since heard otherwise. There was a bit
- 14:42Speaker 1: of dragging of Matt Sikowsky during the show. Lucy ended
- 14:46Speaker 1: up asking Tammy, who would you fuck, marry and kill
- 14:48Speaker 1: out of your exes?
- 14:50Speaker 2: And Tammy said this.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I am.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Not even kidding. I would kill all of them so quickly.
- 14:57Speaker 3: But.
- 15:02Speaker 4: I mean, I have to, like, be nice, but I
- 15:05Speaker 4: actually feel all of them.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Fair enough.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I mean, it exists for a reason. We all know
- 15:13Speaker 2: it was Rhys Hawkins that she'd fuck.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Particularly because she has revealed that at the start of
- 15:18Speaker 1: the year, things were almost back on between her and
- 15:21Speaker 1: Rhys and they went on a date. I thought it
- 15:23Speaker 1: was interesting how she refused to refer to Matt Sikowsky
- 15:26Speaker 1: by name. It was almost a Harry Potter sort of reference,
- 15:29Speaker 1: he who must not be named. I mean, it sounds
- 15:31Speaker 1: awful that she said she'd kill all of them, but...
- 15:33Speaker 1: What else could she really say when her new boyfriend
- 15:36Speaker 1: is standing at the corner of the stage? Oh, yeah,
- 15:38Speaker 1: I'm going to fuck race and then I'm going to
- 15:40Speaker 1: marry Matt. A girl in the crowd was actually given
- 15:43Speaker 1: the opportunity to ask Tammy a question. And she asked, like,
- 15:47Speaker 1: what is it like dating someone younger after dating someone
- 15:50Speaker 1: closer to your age?
- 15:52Speaker 2: And Tammy made this swipe that Grayson is just so.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Much more mature than anyone that she's dated in her
- 15:58Speaker 1: entire life. Now, from someone watching the show and also
- 16:01Speaker 1: being backstage with them, Obviously, I didn't interact with him,
- 16:05Speaker 1: but that's not the vibe I got from him at all. Well,
- 16:07Speaker 1: when he was brought out on stage, he was sort
- 16:09Speaker 1: of a man of very few words. He was asked,
- 16:12Speaker 1: what's it like dating Tammy Hanbrough, essentially, and he's like, oh, yeah,
- 16:15Speaker 1: it's lots of fun.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Well, I actually want to throw to what he said.
- 16:28Speaker 1: To me, it sounded like he was saying, He really
- 16:31Speaker 1: enjoys the lifestyle that Tammy leads. And I mean, obviously
- 16:35Speaker 1: it would be an exciting one for any 23-year-old to
- 16:38Speaker 1: be jetting off here and there, to go on brand trips,
- 16:41Speaker 1: to be growing your profile. I wonder how Tammy felt
- 16:44Speaker 1: when Grayson came out and Lucy really cozied up to
- 16:47Speaker 1: him because I think she was doing it as a
- 16:50Speaker 1: little bit of a throwback to that Cailin Ponga interview
- 16:54Speaker 1: that they played at the start of the show that
- 16:56Speaker 1: happened in her 2020 like online live show. And that
- 17:00Speaker 1: was after she'd previously dropped that Tammy had propositioned her
- 17:03Speaker 1: to have a threesome. I was thinking, is she inferring
- 17:05Speaker 1: it was with Grayson? Yeah, because she's like, oh my God,
- 17:08Speaker 1: how hot is he though? And yeah, the threesome comment
- 17:11Speaker 1: really threw me because I was like, was that with Grayson?
- 17:14Speaker 2: Well, Tammy also said.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That Grayson is her best friend and the girls were
- 17:17Speaker 1: sort of like, is he the one? And she said
- 17:20Speaker 1: she doesn't want to appear silly because life has slapped
- 17:23Speaker 1: her in the face that many times and she doesn't
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to confirm he's the one. but that, you know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: they get on so well. But then she admitted that
- 17:30Speaker 1: she's the toxic one in the relationship, essentially, because she
- 17:33Speaker 1: likes him that much.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Oh, I got the vibe she was saying that.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He was so healthily attached to her and that when
- 17:39Speaker 1: she tried to get toxic in relationships, he didn't say
- 17:42Speaker 1: anything bad and was really nice. I just feel like
- 17:44Speaker 1: it was another dig at Matzikowski. I think the lowest
- 17:48Speaker 1: point of the interview and where it went the most
- 17:51Speaker 1: rogue was when Lucy made reference to a sex act
- 17:55Speaker 1: in the car between Grace and Tammy. I don't want
- 17:58Speaker 1: to go too much into it, but you could tell
- 18:01Speaker 1: Tammy really didn't want that information out there. Yeah, I
- 18:04Speaker 1: was pretty shocked when Lucy dropped it because it really
- 18:06Speaker 1: wasn't in context to anything that they had been speaking about.
- 18:09Speaker 2: And clearly... It's not something that had been approved to
- 18:12Speaker 2: speak about.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Like Grayson looked ultra uncomfortable and all I kept thinking was,
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's only 23?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Like it's this young guy there.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And of course, like Tammy's also got kids and family
- 18:23Speaker 1: that will hear this. It's almost like Lucy forgot that
- 18:25Speaker 1: she was on stage in front of thousands of people.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like it felt like she thought that she was at
- 18:30Speaker 1: a pub having a bit of banter with Tammy and Grayson.
- 18:33Speaker 1: and forgot that people were filming this. This has come
- 18:36Speaker 1: at a really bad time for Lucy and Nikki, because
- 18:39Speaker 1: a lot of people are comparing it to the Alex Earl,
- 18:43Speaker 1: Alex Cooper situation. Now, for those not across it, Alex
- 18:46Speaker 1: Earl's reality show dropped over the weekend, and everyone has
- 18:50Speaker 1: been waiting to.
- 18:51Speaker 2: See what she says about Alex Cooper.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And essentially, she came out and said that she felt
- 18:56Speaker 1: really uncomfortable when she was interviewed on Call Her Daddy.
- 19:00Speaker 1: She said that She was given alcohol and then put
- 19:03Speaker 1: in this position where she was asked inappropriate questions about
- 19:06Speaker 1: her sex life.
- 19:07Speaker 2: And there was this imbalance of power.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And a lot of people are saying, well, is that
- 19:11Speaker 1: what we saw play out on stage with Lucy, Nikki
- 19:13Speaker 1: and Tammy?
- 19:14Speaker 2: I would be interested to.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Know if they would have felt comfortable asking Tammy those
- 19:18Speaker 1: sorts of questions in a recorded podcast as opposed to
- 19:22Speaker 1: a live show, because a lot of people are saying,
- 19:25Speaker 1: Did they throw her the questions because they knew she
- 19:28Speaker 1: couldn't really leave the stage?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, because obviously a podcast can be edited.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And also the added element of having a crowd there
- 19:34Speaker 1: that are all your fans backing you up and egging
- 19:37Speaker 1: it on. Because, I mean, as we touched on, everyone
- 19:40Speaker 1: was in high spirits there. Everyone was drinking, having a
- 19:44Speaker 1: good time. And I think from Lucy and Nikki's perspective,
- 19:47Speaker 1: they're going, oh, well, this is a live show, you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: this stuff. is meant to stay in house and people
- 19:52Speaker 1: were just having fun. But I actually think after the interview,
- 19:56Speaker 1: quite a number of the audience were uncomfortable with what happened.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I think she probably highly regrets what she said.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Now, this story has really blown up online over the
- 20:05Speaker 1: last couple of days. And the elephant in the room
- 20:08Speaker 1: is it's blown up off the back of us sharing
- 20:10Speaker 1: snippets of this interview to Instagram and TikTok. I mean,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I was actually expecting to see this clip everywhere before
- 20:17Speaker 1: we posted it. My immediate reaction was to get my
- 20:19Speaker 1: phone out and film. And I filmed the whole segment
- 20:22Speaker 1: and clipped it up. You know, I've actually got a
- 20:24Speaker 1: lot of bits that I haven't yet shared to Outspoken's
- 20:26Speaker 1: social media.
- 20:27Speaker 2: What a tease. However, we were asked to take them down.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's the thing, Kate.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I don't even think that you have to be a
- 20:33Speaker 1: pop culture journalist to want to film parts of that interview.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I saw numerous people on TikTok sharing Tammy on stage.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think that that's just something that a lot of
- 20:44Speaker 1: us do now because there's viral moments that can be
- 20:47Speaker 1: created online.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Well, with TikTok now, everyone's a citizen journalist.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and particularly if Tammy is publicly commenting on
- 20:55Speaker 1: topics she's never discussed before. I mean, the thing that
- 20:58Speaker 1: just stands out to me is that we were backstage
- 21:00Speaker 1: with all of these people and it wasn't a surprise
- 21:03Speaker 1: that we were there. So I think if you know that, well,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I think if you've been- We were invited there. Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I think if you've invited- podcasters who literally have a
- 21:12Speaker 1: pop culture show about influencers, you would assume that they
- 21:16Speaker 1: would be covering what the biggest influencer in Australia had
- 21:19Speaker 1: to say, particularly when it was that controversial. Yeah, I mean,
- 21:22Speaker 1: it was pretty clear this appearance was going to end
- 21:24Speaker 1: up on TikTok. regardless of if we shared it or
- 21:26Speaker 1: if one of the punters did. And it was always
- 21:28Speaker 1: going to go viral. In saying all of that, we
- 21:31Speaker 1: ended up turning the comments off on the videos that
- 21:33Speaker 1: we shared because they were getting out of hand. But
- 21:36Speaker 1: that hasn't stopped other TikTokers sharing their own thoughts online.
- 21:39Speaker 2: About what happened.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So a TikToker called Chelsea Carter, she's relatively unknown. She's
- 21:44Speaker 1: got 387 followers. She posted her thoughts about the interview.
- 21:50Speaker 1: It has gone pretty viral. It's had over 100,000 views.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to her thoughts.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Is everyone seeing the thing posted by Outspoken with Tammy?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Are they fucking like, are they roasting her on stage? Like,
- 22:06Speaker 3: as in like, are they like actually her friends? Did
- 22:09Speaker 3: she know that this was happening? Do they realize that
- 22:13Speaker 3: she has kids? Why would they be asking her these questions? Like,
- 22:17Speaker 3: it puts her in such a compromised position. What the fuck?
- 22:22Speaker 3: How embarrassing that there's two women up there asking these
- 22:25Speaker 3: questions to another woman. What?
- 22:30Speaker 1: What's so awkward is the fact that a lot of
- 22:32Speaker 1: people are confused and they think that Lucy and Nikki's
- 22:34Speaker 1: podcast is called Outspoken because people are like, did you
- 22:37Speaker 1: see they turned the comments off and they're in damage control?
- 22:40Speaker 1: It's like, no, we just turned the cameras off because
- 22:41Speaker 1: we were told to. Well, Channel 9 are confused as
- 22:43Speaker 1: well because they've picked up on a couple of the
- 22:45Speaker 1: things that Tammy said in the live show and they've
- 22:48Speaker 1: reported that it was Outspoken's live show.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And I'm like, This wasn't us.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Now, Lucy Jackson has replied to Chelsea in the comments.
- 22:55Speaker 1: She wrote, hey, Diva, Tammy is a really good friend
- 22:58Speaker 1: of ours. And these questions were approved by her. Chelsea
- 23:01Speaker 1: responded saying, hey, sis, our values and beliefs clearly differ
- 23:04Speaker 1: for friendships and what's acceptable behaviors.
- 23:07Speaker 2: With a broken heart emoji.
- 23:09Speaker 1: One listener defended the girls in the comments section, writing,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you aren't a punter, you wouldn't get it, which got
- 23:14Speaker 1: 42 likes. It will be interesting to see if Lucy
- 23:16Speaker 1: and Nikki address this publicly. They do have another show
- 23:20Speaker 1: coming up. I think it's in Auckland. Well, on Sunday night,
- 23:22Speaker 1: Lucy shared a TikTok saying that she had the Sunday
- 23:24Speaker 1: scaries and that she partied so hard in Adelaide that
- 23:27Speaker 1: she actually missed her flight. So I don't think she
- 23:30Speaker 1: was having the best time, unfortunately. Tammy is yet to
- 23:33Speaker 1: address the backlash. So far, she has posted a carousel
- 23:36Speaker 1: of images, From her time in Adelaide, she wrote, surprise
- 23:39Speaker 1: guests for the girls at their show.
- 23:41Speaker 2: So much fun. Best crowd.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I love you. Now, Nikki wrote under the post, our girl.
- 23:45Speaker 1: And Lucy added, we love.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You, diva.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So there doesn't seem to be any bad blood on
- 23:50Speaker 2: Tammy's end.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I wonder, though, if when she posted that she'd seen
- 23:53Speaker 1: the videos from the night, because I got the vibe
- 23:56Speaker 1: that maybe some of the girls had forgotten what actually
- 23:59Speaker 1: transpired because they were having such a big night. I
- 24:01Speaker 1: think a part of the reason why people are so
- 24:04Speaker 1: shocked by this interview is is the fact that Lucy
- 24:07Speaker 1: and Nikki are friends with Tammy. They spoke a lot
- 24:09Speaker 1: about how they've known each other for 10 years.
- 24:12Speaker 2: And there was this rhetoric of, well, that's not how
- 24:15Speaker 2: you treat a friend.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That being said, I think the reason they felt like
- 24:19Speaker 1: they could go there with the questions is because they
- 24:22Speaker 1: are friends and they had the backstories to it. Yeah,
- 24:26Speaker 1: it definitely felt like there'd been some kind of falling
- 24:28Speaker 1: out over the years. There was a mention that they
- 24:30Speaker 1: weren't invited to the wedding. They kind of sounded a
- 24:32Speaker 1: little bit salty on it.
- 24:34Speaker 2: What I want to know is, Are they still friends?
- 24:36Speaker 1: There was a comment Tammy made during the interview that
- 24:38Speaker 1: I thought was quite telling. She said, oh, you know, Lucy,
- 24:42Speaker 1: you've known me for 10 years and you've always loved
- 24:44Speaker 1: to torture me.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Look, let's be real.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I don't think Lucy would have said half those things
- 24:49Speaker 1: if she had been sober at the time. I think
- 24:52Speaker 1: she lost all inhibitions because she was so drunk. A
- 24:55Speaker 1: pretty dangerous thing to do when you're at a live
- 24:58Speaker 1: event and you've got thousands of people there with their
- 25:01Speaker 1: phones out. Because in this social media age, concerts and
- 25:05Speaker 1: podcast live shows, they're no longer just a performance for
- 25:09Speaker 1: the audience. People film them and put them online for
- 25:13Speaker 1: everyone to see. So you have to be careful about
- 25:16Speaker 1: what you say and you have to take accountability for
- 25:19Speaker 1: what happened on stage if there is negative feedback. I
- 25:22Speaker 1: just feel like a lot of this negative feedback would
- 25:25Speaker 1: go away if Tammy came out and said, look, I've
- 25:27Speaker 1: seen these clips going around.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I'm really good friends.
- 25:30Speaker 1: With Lucy and Nikki and this was just all banter
- 25:33Speaker 1: and know because her reaction to me was written very
- 25:36Speaker 1: much across her face. She didn't look comfortable and even
- 25:39Speaker 1: if she came out and defended her friends and said
- 25:42Speaker 1: I was completely cool with the line of questioning, I
- 25:46Speaker 1: think people would still read into it and say well
- 25:49Speaker 1: you might have been okay with it but that wasn't
- 25:52Speaker 1: really a great thing that your friends did. Well that's
- 25:54Speaker 1: all we've got time for today but we are going
- 25:56Speaker 1: to be going into a bit more behind the scenes
- 25:58Speaker 1: gossip about the Lucy and Nikki show. And I think
- 26:00Speaker 1: there's going to be more that's popping up over the
- 26:02Speaker 1: next couple of days. So make sure you are subscribed
- 26:05Speaker 1: to Outspoken Plus. That episode, of course, drops on Thursday.
- 26:09Speaker 1: All the details to sign up are in our show notes.
- 26:12Speaker 1: This podcast was recorded on the traditional land of the
- 26:15Speaker 1: Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
- 26:17Speaker 2: We pay respect to elders past and present.
