Latest / DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas / France “Doom Loop”: Really? | DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas
Transcript
- 0:11Good morning, it's DeProgram with Ted Rall
- 0:13and Jamarl Thomas for Wednesday, October 21st,
- 0:172026. Thank you very much for joining us. Please
- 0:21like, follow, and share. And here's what we've
- 0:24got for you this morning. We have France's so-
- 0:28called doom loop. President Emmanuel Macron
- 0:31is being squeezed by the people, the protesters
- 0:34on the streets, but also by the bond market,
- 0:38which is basically saying, if you spend more
- 0:42money to fix these social ills, then the market
- 0:46will panic and then you'll have to have even
- 0:48more austerity. So what does the dude do? Vivek
- 0:53Ramaswamy appears to have gone a bridge too far
- 0:56in the Ohio governor's race by running this very
- 0:59scurrilous campaign ad. We'll tell you exactly
- 1:03what he did. We should run it, too. Yeah, we
- 1:07should run the ad. Robby, please cue it up.
- 1:09We want to watch it for sure. I haven't seen
- 1:12it. I've only read about it. Cohen Wiley was
- 1:16the one-year-old who was killed outside of
- 1:18a Walmart by the cops in Mississippi. The AG
- 1:22down in Mississippi said, that's totally
- 1:24fine, shooting into a car and blowing away a
- 1:26baby. No problem. But didn't have any comments
- 1:29about it. We'll cut in two. That whole cops and
- 1:32ICE shooting into cars phenomenon. Last but not
- 1:36least, Russia has released an American citizen
- 1:40who's either 73 or 74, depending on the news
- 1:42accounts. Stephen Hubbard has been detained as
- 1:45a mercenary for Ukraine since the beginning of
- 1:48the war in 2022 as a goodwill gesture by Vladimir
- 1:52Putin to Trump envoy Steve Witkoff. And so
- 1:56basically the Russia-Ukraine war is
- 1:58front and center in the news once again. Please
- 2:01and good morning Jamarl how are you doing? I'm
- 2:04doing fine. Wait, how old was he? Well, he's either
- 2:0773 or 74 depending on which reports you read
- 2:10and they're claiming he's a mercenary. Yeah, so
- 2:14he was basically a wandering dude,
- 2:17kind of a random guy who
- 2:21liked to travel and he found himself in Ukraine
- 2:25at the beginning of the war. Russia arrested him,
- 2:28basically said he was a mercenary for the Ukrainian
- 2:31military. That sounds probably true to me based
- 2:35on the circumstances of the whole
- 2:38thing that he's walking in a war zone. Well, that's
- 2:44not completely unprecedented, right?
- 2:47There's always these adventurers who
- 2:49turn up in weird places. So there's a guy, what
- 2:55was his name? Josiah Harlan. I think it's Josiah
- 2:59Harlan, who was the mid-19th century guy
- 3:02who claimed to be the prince of Gore province
- 3:05in central Afghanistan. And he kind of had a
- 3:08legitimate claim, sort of. And he was the American
- 3:12dude from Pennsylvania. But there's all
- 3:15these wackos who turn up in conflict zones. And
- 3:19really legitimately, the only reasons you
- 3:21have to be in a conflict zone, unless you're
- 3:23a civilian, are either to be a journalist or
- 3:25to be a combatant. Right, right, there's no
- 3:29allegation here that this guy was a journalist.
- 3:31He didn't say he was and he was definitely
- 3:34sympathetic to the Ukrainians and
- 3:37the Russians have held him for several years
- 3:40now and he was the last person, the last American
- 3:43that the U.S. State Department officially classified
- 3:45as being held by Russia but not in a justifiable
- 3:49way for whatever that means, to the extent
- 3:52that the United States is in any position to
- 3:54tell, to assess whether any other country's laws
- 3:58are being properly adhered to or not. But basically,
- 4:01this is kind of, it's obviously
- 4:04a sop to the Americans. If I were
- 4:06the Russians, I'd be, we don't need this
- 4:08guy. You can have him back. He's great.
- 4:12You enjoy. And it kind of looks like that. But
- 4:15where shall we start? So I guess two announcements.
- 4:21One, just hit 80,000 last night. Blew through
- 4:2680,000. So I'm ecstatic about that. It sucks.
- 4:29Congratulations. Yeah, I'm pumped today. And
- 4:33two, I was in a conversation with, I went on
- 4:37Scotty's show. I think you know Scotty. Scotty,
- 4:40know him? Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course.
- 4:42Love Scotty. Love her to death. I went on Scotty's
- 4:44show. And I didn't know that I was going for
- 4:48political combat. Oh, no. I didn't know. Well,
- 4:53that could happen. And so we get into a conversation
- 4:55about. The conversation was supposed to be effectively.
- 4:59Will Donald Trump be punished? Will Republicans
- 5:02be punished for Donald Trump? And obviously my
- 5:05argument for months is that
- 5:07they were going to get slaughtered. And so I'm
- 5:10going into thinking that's the fight. A Republican
- 5:13is on the other side, but a CNN Republican.
- 5:16I'm going to call it. I don't want to say anything
- 5:17bad about him because he didn't do anything wrong.
- 5:19A CNN Republican. But CNN and people on CNN are
- 5:24very partisan. I'm not overtly partisan, at least
- 5:28not in the context of red and blue. He is. And
- 5:32he is fighting for his side. I didn't go into
- 5:34the fight knowing that. Right? Because I didn't
- 5:37know it was going to be a fight. You thought
- 5:39you were just doing analysis. Yeah, I thought
- 5:42we were just doing analysis. When I bring
- 5:44people on my show, we argue. But we're arguing
- 5:46about real stuff, not about fake stuff. And so
- 5:49he immediately brings up. Well, Republicans may
- 5:54lose some seats, but the argument is, but they
- 5:57would lose more seats if the Democrats actually
- 6:01put decent candidates up, like El-Said, who's
- 6:06being funded by the Muslim Brotherhood, and the
- 6:09other Democrat that is having sex with his cousin.
- 6:12Now, what? I was, whoa, okay.
- 6:21A, El-Sayed is not being funded by the Muslim
- 6:23Brotherhood. And I have no idea who you're talking
- 6:25about, who's having sex with their cousin. And
- 6:27he's, yes, he is. He is being funded by
- 6:29the Muslim Brotherhood. Now, I know Republicans,
- 6:31right? Because there's some weird angle that
- 6:35they're using in order to justify making this
- 6:38claim. And this is just a dog whistle to, he's
- 6:41a Muslim. Totally. And for the other one, I'm
- 6:44, I have no idea who you're talking about.
- 6:45And also, why did they pick the Muslim Brotherhood,
- 6:48which is kind of obscure to Americans? Why not
- 6:51say ISIS? Why not claim al-Qaeda? Why?
- 6:56Why the Muslim? Most Americans don't
- 6:58even know what the Muslim Brotherhood is.
- 7:01It's really weird. And either way, my thing
- 7:03was, that shit's not true. From my understanding,
- 7:07that's not true. Yeah, there's no evidence whatsoever
- 7:09for that. None. It's made up. And he is definitively
- 7:12, yes, he's being funded by the Muslim Brotherhood.
- 7:15And I'm, okay. He's talking about AIPAC.
- 7:17Who cares? Well, that's the other thing. It's
- 7:21the president of the United States who you're
- 7:23trying to get away from is a stooge of another
- 7:27foreign power, which is treasonous. And that
- 7:30part is true. That part is true. And then he's
- 7:35the person who's having sex with their cousin.
- 7:36And I'm, I have no idea who that is. Now,
- 7:39this is where I messed up. I have an idea who
- 7:43they're talking about. I think some person in
- 7:46Maine or somewhere. Is that what it is? Oh, I
- 7:49thought it was Rashida Tlaib. Oh, I don't know.
- 7:53Who supposedly married her brother? They were
- 7:57saying Ilhan Omar married his brother. Oh, Ilhan
- 7:59Omar, right. Right. And that's what I thought
- 8:01he was talking about. And I'm, I have no
- 8:04idea what you're talking about. Because my thing
- 8:05is, that shit isn't true. So I don't even need
- 8:08to acknowledge it. And he brings in some random
- 8:10Democrat. Connecticut and he says, well, you
- 8:13should know this if you're a political analyst
- 8:15and I'm, oh that burned. That burn when
- 8:20somebody says, well, if you call yourself a political
- 8:23analyst then you should know. Yeah, yeah. And I
- 8:26was, okay that burns. It's hard to keep track
- 8:28of all the Republicans though
- 8:31which is what I said. I was, I can't. I said
- 8:33for one, Republicans seem to be very interested
- 8:35in what people do in their bedrooms. I can't keep
- 8:37track of all that. What matters is that you guys
- 8:39are going to lose the House and the Senate. But
- 8:41that burned. I'm giving him credit for that.
- 8:45Yeah, I can't keep track of all that. The main
- 8:50thesis of it is you guys are going to fail miserably.
- 8:53His argument is, well, we'd do much better if
- 8:56so-and-so, if you guys were better, we'd do
- 8:59much worse. It's, what the fuck? Probably,
- 9:03maybe? Possibly. But sure. There's
- 9:08look, he's kind of singing a song that I sing
- 9:10sometimes, which is he just because you're
- 9:13winning doesn't mean that you're not necessarily
- 9:14leaving money on the table. Right. That's true.
- 9:17And it's something that's a lesson
- 9:19the Democrats and everybody should probably take
- 9:22to heart. But it's hard to imagine. I
- 9:25think at this point in this, and look,
- 9:27I'm not saying this as a partisan Democrat
- 9:29because I'm not. I don't give a shit
- 9:33about Democrats, but if, but I
- 9:37just think objectively looking
- 9:39at it, what's about to happen in about two and
- 9:41a half weeks is a blowout. And that basically
- 9:44the American voters are going to turn out and
- 9:45vote for everything D and nothing R just because
- 9:49they're pissed and they're not going to be looking
- 9:51at the details. Look, I have to admit,
- 9:55that exchange? Maybe we could
- 9:59pull that up too, Robby. That exchange
- 10:02that's been going viral between Saeed and a Republican
- 10:06voter named Tommy who showed up at one of his
- 10:09public appearances? It's been all over the place.
- 10:12Robby, if you can – I know you know what I'm
- 10:14talking about, Robby. Can you pull that up?
- 10:16Robby, do you know what I'm talking about? You're
- 10:20muted. So he got into a fight back and forth
- 10:22with a guy. By the way, Jamie Vance ended
- 10:24up in a – I guess it wasn't a back and forth,
- 10:26but the guy kind of made the point of saying,
- 10:28dude, my wife is dead as a result of your criminal
- 10:30war. Why is she dead? That's powerful. Yeah.
- 10:35Yeah. Well, that one's hard to beat. All right.
- 10:38So here we put Robby on. Robby, I can't hear
- 10:42you though. Hello, Robby. I'm here. So I've
- 10:46got the Vivek ad up and ready to go, and I'm
- 10:49looking for the Saeed versus Tommy. Let's do
- 10:53Vivek, and then we'll do the Tommy and Saeed
- 10:59thing afterwards. Okay, because I'm trying to
- 11:02find a better version of the Tommy thing. Right
- 11:04now I'm finding a bunch of ones from people who
- 11:05are recording it from their crowd on a cell phone.
- 11:07So I'm trying to find a better version. Yeah,
- 11:09thank you. There's been some news coverage. It
- 11:13was an interesting fight. He got the better of
- 11:16that debate, but that comment burned. I hear
- 11:20you. All right. Here it is. You're fooling yourself.
- 11:24My name is Donna Arthur, and I'm Amy Acton's
- 11:28mother. I work at Children and Family Service
- 11:31Association, building one of the first two sexual
- 11:36abuse programs in America. I love my daughter,
- 11:40but when I saw her lying about her opponent,
- 11:43it's not easy for a mother to say this, but Amy
- 11:46has a serious problem. She is a liar. She lies
- 11:51about her past. She says she grew up living in
- 11:55a tent. None of that is true. She's lied her
- 11:59entire life. My daughter needs help, and she
- 12:03can't help you if she needs help herself. People
- 12:07can change. But first, they have to tell the
- 12:10truth. And my daughter still isn't doing that.
- 12:13Don't vote for people who lie. Don't let her
- 12:16become your governor. If you think she'll make
- 12:19your life better, you're fooling yourself. It
- 12:23will only get worse. Hey, Miss Donna. It would
- 12:28only get worse. It would only get worse. That's
- 12:31her real mom? That's her real mom. Oh, that is
- 12:34brutal. Yeah, by the way, I don't think that
- 12:37woman has been a stranger to the bottle is all
- 12:40I have to say. So, yeah, the allegations that
- 12:44the lady, Acton, who's running for, she's
- 12:47the Democratic candidate against Vivek for governor
- 12:50of Ohio is that she has said repeatedly that
- 12:54she was sexually assaulted, raped by her stepfather.
- 12:58In other words, this lady's husband. I don't
- 13:00know if he's still her husband, or even if he's
- 13:03still alive. And basically, they're estranged
- 13:06over this issue, right? She's,
- 13:09Mom, your husband fucked me. And Mom's
- 13:16denying it, right? So obviously, we're not there.
- 13:18We don't know who's telling the truth. What we
- 13:21do know is the results of the poll. So Vivek
- 13:24dropped four million dollars into the Ohio ad
- 13:27market on this ad, so this thing flooded the airwaves
- 13:31and it's the, as an Ohioan, I don't
- 13:36can't expect. I don't think this is a Buckeye
- 13:38state thing. I don't think it would matter where
- 13:40you were from, but people are, they were
- 13:44just disgusted and now this race which was very
- 13:47tight, down to within the margin of error is
- 13:50now she's surging. Ohioans, the voters, are
- 13:54disgusted by this and I think it's kind of
- 13:57he had two big errors. So he released
- 14:00this ad. That is doing an interview. I forget which
- 14:04show he was on. I'm not your typical xenophobic
- 14:07Republicans. I think we need more H-1B visa
- 14:10holders to come here to Ohio to start doing these
- 14:12jobs. What? This man is in Ohio, which has been
- 14:18decimated. Oh, yeah. Talking about how Americans
- 14:21are too stupid to do the work. So in addition,
- 14:24is this a one-two punch to the face? That's
- 14:26it for him. Oh, he's done. And I say good. Well,
- 14:31it's... I always thought it was remarkable
- 14:33that a billionaire would have a chance of being
- 14:36the governor of Ohio. And also, frankly, that
- 14:39a guy who looked like him would have the chance
- 14:41to be governor of Ohio. But it's holy shit. I
- 14:47and then add it. It makes
- 14:49Willie Horton look like nice and kind.
- 14:52Queensbury rules. Right. This is
- 14:55You're gonna bring in you're
- 14:58gonna go and drag the lady's mom in there
- 15:01who frankly doesn't sound credible. If
- 15:05even if she is correct, if she's telling the truth.
- 15:07She doesn't sound like she's telling the truth
- 15:09and she sounds like a very sad, fucked-up old
- 15:14lady, and it's okay. Let's just say for the
- 15:16sake of argument that Acton lied about this. I
- 15:20doubt it, but let's just say she did.
- 15:23You're the mom should just be, this is a
- 15:26tragedy. This is a family thing we're trying
- 15:27to resolve. And you don't fucking run an ad.
- 15:30You don't do an ad for the other candidate when
- 15:32she's running for governor. You just don't. Do
- 15:35you remember the politician, Will Ferrell? Well,
- 15:41there's a scene in Will Ferrell where he's,
- 15:43he says, I'm going to fuck his mom or something
- 15:46like that, or his wife or something like that.
- 15:48And he does an ad having sex with his,
- 15:52what is it? Having sex with his mom or something
- 15:54like that. It was something insane. And
- 15:57the guy was, don't put that ad up. And he
- 16:00said, no, he said, put it out. I'm going to put
- 16:02it out tonight. I'm going to put it out tonight.
- 16:04And he puts the ad out tonight and it bombs.
- 16:08If I remember the movie correctly, because there's
- 16:10a scene where he does something absurd.
- 16:13And he says, I'm going to do it tonight. I'm
- 16:14going to do it tonight. And the guy's, don't
- 16:16do it. I'm your agent. Don't do this. And Will
- 16:20Ferrell did it anyway. That's that ad. That's
- 16:24that ad. It's that ad. And comedy at this point.
- 16:28That's the most outrageous political ad I think
- 16:32I've ever seen. I bet that Ramaswamy thought
- 16:35this is a killer. I bet that's what he thought
- 16:38too. And I got to be honest, when I looked at
- 16:39it, my first thought was, whoa, that's lethal.
- 16:42And I guess it is lethal in the other direction.
- 16:47Yeah, to him. You can't. For one, I don't believe
- 16:52the mom. I don't believe her either. I think
- 16:55her problem is very basic. If I admit that my
- 17:00husband was having sex with my daughter, then
- 17:03I'm a shit-ass mom. Yeah. There are a lot of
- 17:06shit-ass moms that would do some shit like that.
- 17:08Absolutely. It's, I'm going to let my daughter
- 17:10get raped by this guy because I want to keep
- 17:13the guy. And then when the daughter brings it
- 17:15to him, the response of the mom is either, I
- 17:17don't believe you. And we are creating division
- 17:20between me and my kid, as opposed to this asshole
- 17:23that you've associated yourself with. Look, that
- 17:26happens. It just happens. Look, on the show,
- 17:29we've talked about, the three of us have talked
- 17:31about our experiences being sexually assaulted,
- 17:34right? I was sexually assaulted by a janitor
- 17:37in my middle school. I did not tell my mom about
- 17:40it at the time. And years later, when I was in
- 17:44my 40s, I told her. And she said, you're
- 17:49just lying. You just didn't want to. You just didn't
- 17:51want to work after school. You were lazy then.
- 17:54If she's siding with a janitor who shouldn't
- 17:57even know, why would you be, why would I lie?
- 18:01That's what I told her. I said, what am
- 18:03I trying to weasel out of an after-school job
- 18:06helping the janitor at this point, helping
- 18:09the janitor who's probably dead by now of old
- 18:11age, helping him clean chalkboards.
- 18:14I don't think so, right? But the point is people
- 18:16they don't. Because here's the thing about my
- 18:18mom. She didn't want to think I imperiled my son.
- 18:23I got him this job. I put him in harm's way. She
- 18:27doesn't want that. That makes her
- 18:29feel like she's a bad mom. So rather than just
- 18:33own it and just say, God, son, I'm so sorry I put
- 18:37you in that situation which is frankly
- 18:39all she's expected to say. And no one, I would
- 18:43be, don't worry about it, Mom. It's over. It's
- 18:45in the past. But she can't, right? It's not her
- 18:47fault. She can't accept. She couldn't accept that,
- 18:50right? And I think it's the same thing. Oh,
- 18:52I married a guy. He raped my daughter and so
- 18:56that means I brought him into her life and I
- 19:00and she became a victim because of me. So
- 19:03now I'm in this terrible position having to decide
- 19:06whether I leave this dude and I admit that I
- 19:09imperiled my daughter. That's what this
- 19:12is about. Unfortunately, she's making it about
- 19:14her and she's not the victim here. The future
- 19:17governor of Ohio is the victim here. Yeah, agreed.
- 19:21I told my mom at 24 and it was, I think
- 19:25her thing was kind of, well, at the time
- 19:27I was in a hospital. And so I think she thought
- 19:28maybe he's out of his mind. Because you were
- 19:33on meds and stuff. And when she asked me
- 19:35later, I was, no, it's true. I just didn't
- 19:38say anything. It's not I took it as my fault.
- 19:40And I wasn't one of those people who was,
- 19:42oh my God, I'm traumatized. This is on me and
- 19:44blah, blah, blah. I didn't take it that way.
- 19:45My mom did ask me, why didn't you tell me at
- 19:48the time? I'm, because you wouldn't have
- 19:50believed me. And look, you still don't believe
- 19:52me, right? No, she would have believed me. I
- 19:55just, I think I was embarrassed by it at the
- 19:57time. And so it was kind of, yeah, I was
- 20:01just, I think I was more embarrassed by it at
- 20:02the time. But I knew it wasn't my fault or nothing
- 20:05like that. Ramaswamy, this is
- 20:09some. It's so funny, right? Because she's
- 20:11the text of the ad is you can't trust
- 20:14my daughter. She'll just make things
- 20:16worse, whatever that means. I don't know, more
- 20:19H-1B visas, but you could get away with
- 20:23this commercial if it was for something like
- 20:25my daughter was a thief. My daughter is a liar
- 20:27but not on sexual abuse. No, especially not
- 20:31now. Not now. It has to be on something else. You
- 20:35can make that ad. It would work in a different context.
- 20:38I think most voters are also very familiar with
- 20:40this kind of context of this story. It's so typical.
- 20:44Bill Clinton was not sexually violated
- 20:47but he was brutalized by his stepfather and
- 20:50he stood up to him and
- 20:53famously kicked him
- 20:55out of his trailer, right? The point
- 20:58everyone knows that story, right? Woman remarries
- 21:01an. And then the woman sides with the asshole.
- 21:05It's really common. If it hasn't happened
- 21:09to you, it's happened to someone you know. You
- 21:12can't get away with that ad. I just don't think
- 21:14you can get away with that ad. Not in that context.
- 21:17It has to be a different context. And a different
- 21:19context is a killer ad. My daughter's a thief.
- 21:21She robbed me. She stole something from me. Blah,
- 21:24blah, blah. That works. Not my daughter was sexually
- 21:27harassed. Maybe. I don't know. I'm not so sure
- 21:30about that. I'm not so sure. I think
- 21:32when you get involved in people's intimate
- 21:34family shit, it's super cringe.
- 21:38It's rough. It's kind of
- 21:41nobody really knows what happens between family
- 21:43members. And you want to
- 21:47drag that into the public sphere. It's just inappropriate.
- 21:50Well, he has no choice. When the Kennedys came
- 21:53out and put a knife. Well, that was disgusting.
- 21:56I thought that was disgusting. And it was effective.
- 22:00It was effective. Many, it depends on the
- 22:02context. It was still disgusting. I'm sorry.
- 22:05No, no, you're good. Ramaswamy has no choice
- 22:07because he committed political suicide in the
- 22:12rustiest of the Rust Belt states by saying that
- 22:16you people are too uneducated, too lazy, too
- 22:19stupid and too inept to do these jobs, so I need
- 22:23to bring thousands and thousands of people
- 22:26here to come do the jobs that none
- 22:28of you are qualified for from a place where the
- 22:31people look like me. Nuts to you. Enjoy your meth,
- 22:33enjoy your alcohol, enjoy your trailer park and
- 22:36hope that you die of suicide sooner rather than
- 22:38later. By the way, that's why he did this. It
- 22:42escapes me as an Ohioan who grew up in fucking
- 22:45Dayton in the Rust Belt, watched the population
- 22:47of my city drop by 50 to 80 percent, depending
- 22:51on who you count, in a matter of 20 years.
- 22:54It's and I got to tell you, when
- 22:56I used to work for the bank in the 80s in New
- 22:59York, we used to recommend to Japanese companies
- 23:02which states had the highest
- 23:04educated workforces in the country.
- 23:08Ohio has one of the most well, or at least had
- 23:11one of the most well-educated workforces among
- 23:14working-class people in the United States, so
- 23:17if you needed a high-tech plant and
- 23:19you needed really smart well-trained people,
- 23:22Ohio was a good state to do it in. So all the
- 23:26more reason. No, you don't need H-1B visas.
- 23:29The state has skyrocketing unemployment.
- 23:32You have tons of overqualified, underemployed,
- 23:35unemployed people who need work. You
- 23:39don't need a single H-1B visa in that state.
- 23:41Robby, I'm glad you brought that up. Because
- 23:43their policy, keep in mind, what Elon
- 23:46Musk and what Vivek Ramaswamy basically complained
- 23:49about, because they said the same thing on the
- 23:51campaign trail, is policy that the U.S. enacted.
- 23:55And then they turn around and say, well, we obviously
- 23:58need to bring in more people from other countries
- 24:00because the U.S. can't do these jobs. It's,
- 24:02OK, so you don't invest in education. You don't
- 24:04invest in any of these things that would allow
- 24:07the, let's say, the positions or the people to
- 24:10do the positions that you're effectively training.
- 24:13Yeah. Meaning these aren't things that you
- 24:15invest in. And then you turn around and say,
- 24:17we need to bring in foreigners to do jobs that
- 24:19Americans could do if Americans were effectively
- 24:21trained to do. But we don't want to train them
- 24:22to do those jobs. That's the issue of policy.
- 24:25That's a failure policy. And let's also add to
- 24:27it, they want indentured slaves. Meaning they
- 24:30want indentured servants. The amount that you
- 24:33would have to pay somebody on an H-1B is
- 24:35less than the amount that you pay an American.
- 24:37The things that you would have to give to that
- 24:40person are less. The control that you have over
- 24:42that person is more. This is about control and
- 24:46about the amount of money that you're effectively
- 24:47spending on people. They want to spend as little
- 24:49as possible. Hence, they want to bring people
- 24:51into the country. Now, Ohio will be right, and
- 24:55not putting him in office, if that is indeed
- 24:57the policy that Vivek Ramaswamy wants. I don't
- 24:59know what effect he would have as governor.
- 25:01Anyway. That heifer should be deported. Talk
- 25:04about deporting heifers. I know he's a dude,
- 25:07but the premise, though, is the same. He needs
- 25:10to go away. I don't know where he needs to go.
- 25:12Deport that heifer. Agreed. Deport that heifer.
- 25:15I guess in this case, deport that bull. Yeah,
- 25:17whatever. But I found that, Saeed. Either way.
- 25:21I found that, Saeed. I found the Saeed clip.
- 25:23It's about four and a half minutes. Do you want
- 25:25to do the whole thing? Yeah, let's do it. No,
- 25:28just enough to. Y'all let me know when to stop
- 25:33it then. Okay, I'll tell you. Go. Simple question.
- 25:41No, your friend's got the mic. I'll ask you a
- 25:43simple question. You give me your name. I'll
- 25:44answer the question. Okay, Tommy. Hi, Tommy.
- 25:46How are you? I'm great. Are you? Do you know
- 25:49what the Constitution of the United States is?
- 25:51So snotty, are you. I have one simple question.
- 25:53Will you disavow the Muslims? Sure. Yeah, absolutely.
- 25:56But I want to ask them the question that you're
- 25:57asking. Why are you asking the question? Well,
- 26:00because they're a terrorist group. Okay. No,
- 26:04no, but what are you implying? Do you assume
- 26:06that I wouldn't? Yes. Why not? Because I have
- 26:09not heard you disavow them yet. Have you disavowed
- 26:11them? I haven't heard you disavow them yet. You're
- 26:14great. But here's the thing about it. You're
- 26:16asking the question because implicitly you assume
- 26:19that I'll have dual loyalties, right? You assume
- 26:23that somehow I wouldn't disavow. Or that I'll
- 26:26have some higher order allegiance than the Constitution.
- 26:30Correct? Tommy, is that what you imply? Why would
- 26:33you think that about me? Because I have not heard
- 26:35you disavow. No, no, no, no. Why would you actually
- 26:37think that about me? Because I have not heard
- 26:39you disavow. But I just did. But why would you
- 26:40actually think that? Have you asked everybody
- 26:43in your life if they disavow? I have not. So
- 26:46why are you asking me? Because I have not heard
- 26:48you disavow. No, no, no. Answer the question,
- 26:50Tommy. Everybody knows the answer to it. Answer
- 26:52the question. All right. So let me just tell
- 26:55you. Let me just tell you. I'm going to swear
- 26:58an oath to the Constitution of the United States.
- 27:01And that Constitution guarantees us all the right
- 27:04to practice whatever faith we want, no faith
- 27:06at all. And now, you assume, you assume, Tommy,
- 27:12that because I am Muslim, that somehow I would
- 27:16have some allegiance to something that is not
- 27:18our Constitution. That's your assumption. That's
- 27:20implicit in the question. What's interesting
- 27:23to me is that this is not the first time people
- 27:25have asked those kinds of questions. Because,
- 27:28do you know who John F. Kennedy is? Do you know
- 27:31who that is, Tommy? I do. Alright. Do you know
- 27:34what he was asked as the first possible Catholic
- 27:36president of the United States? What did they
- 27:38ask him? You don't remember? You should read
- 27:41history. Tommy, when he ran for president, he
- 27:44was asked whether or not he was going to have
- 27:48allegiance to the Pope at the Vatican, because
- 27:51of course he's Catholic. And his answer famously
- 27:55was that he was not running to be a Catholic
- 27:57president. He was running to be president and
- 27:59happened to be Catholic. That is so racist.
- 28:09That's sublimely racist. And what's wild about
- 28:12it, if he was Jewish and they said, hey, are
- 28:14you going to have foreign allegiance to Israel?
- 28:16Now, the reality of it is many of those guys,
- 28:19especially the guy running through Congress with
- 28:21an Israeli uniform, is making his allegiance
- 28:23very clear. But if you were to say anything, yeah,
- 28:26but if you say anything about that they would
- 28:29say, well, that's racist, that's anti-Semitic by
- 28:31definition, and it's, but no, it actually seems
- 28:35that guy seems to be working more for Israel.
- 28:37He's in an Israeli uniform, right? El-Saeed just
- 28:41because he is Muslim. Just because he's Muslim
- 28:45meaning all of these attacks, the attack that
- 28:47I was telling you about the Muslim Brotherhood
- 28:48stuff, all of these attacks have everything and
- 28:51only to do with he is Muslim. That's it. There's
- 28:55nothing else to it. There's not a shred of evidence
- 28:57that he's supporting anything, right? And yet
- 29:00they put all of this on him and they ask him
- 29:03all of these insane questions. This is birtherism,
- 29:05again. And they, for whatever particular reason,
- 29:07feel that they can use this against Muslims.
- 29:10But if you bring any other group into this, all
- 29:12of a sudden, oh my God, you're being racist.
- 29:14This is a blood libel. I can't believe this is
- 29:15effectively taking place. He had a good answer
- 29:17for that, by the way. That's a good answer. It's,
- 29:20look, why are you asking me this? Well,
- 29:23because I've never heard you disavow the Muslim
- 29:26Brotherhood. Okay, but there's also ISIS. There's
- 29:29also Al-Qaeda. There's also et cetera. I didn't
- 29:31disavow any of them either. Why do I need to
- 29:33disavow all this stuff? And who else have you
- 29:35asked if they disavowed whatever the hell you
- 29:37need them to disavow? Good answer. But God, man,
- 29:41that is so effing racist. Well, where
- 29:44it came from, don't you? Laura Loomer is over
- 29:46on X. Don't take my word for it. Go there and
- 29:49check. If you want to ruin your breakfast, don't.
- 29:52Don't do this shit. After you eat, go to X, look
- 29:56at Laura Loomer's X feed. It's all about the
- 29:59Muslim Brotherhood because it sounds scary and
- 30:01how they are trying to work with the DSA, the
- 30:06Democratic Socialists, to get Islamic fascists,
- 30:10whatever the hell an Islamic fascist is, into
- 30:13government to turn the United States into a caliphate.
- 30:17El-Said is not even part of the DSA. Doesn't
- 30:20matter. Listen. This is all that they have. For
- 30:26example. That shit is aggravating, Robby. I've
- 30:28got to be honest with you. I'm having an argument
- 30:30with a guy, and the guy is, he's part of
- 30:31the Muslim Brotherhood. And you're just,
- 30:33no, he's not. Because from my point of view,
- 30:36it's, I haven't even looked into it. I don't
- 30:38believe you. Right? It's, I don't even believe
- 30:40you're a junk on this. It's one of those things
- 30:43, that is not true, and it cannot be true.
- 30:45And he's, it is. He just says straight up.
- 30:48Meaning, I'm not used to people just flat out
- 30:50lying. Even if he was, why would it matter? Democracy
- 30:56is the thing that matters. Why is being a member
- 30:59of the Muslim Brotherhood any worse than being
- 31:03a member of AIPAC or the NRA or any other group
- 31:07that its sole purpose is to promote the interests
- 31:13of the group that you identify with? That's the
- 31:15whole point. The Muslim Brotherhood is primarily
- 31:17just a major political force in Egypt, right?
- 31:20And there's nothing wrong with them. So if I
- 31:24was buds with an Egyptian dude and he was,
- 31:26I'm a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, it would
- 31:28not impact our friendship. I do want to, okay,
- 31:32I agree with everything you guys have just said.
- 31:34So this is what I'm about to say now is supplemental.
- 31:37What do you make, Jamarl, of, we've talked about
- 31:41this before, Saeed's tone. I feel like
- 31:45it's not a winner. What I'm going to
- 31:47say. To be condescending and snotty, right? It's
- 31:51one of the reasons I've never run for politics
- 31:53is I have a tendency to be condescending and
- 31:55snotty. And I know that would come out on the
- 31:57campaign trail. But I don't think I'd be as bad
- 32:00as Saeed, where he goes, where he's, have
- 32:04you heard of John F. Kennedy? Come on, dude.
- 32:06Maybe you should read history. No, think
- 32:10about how Bernie would have handled this,
- 32:13where there's similar exchanges where,
- 32:15he kind of, oh, you
- 32:17should, Medicare for all would mean
- 32:19this and you wouldn't be paying as
- 32:22much and it would probably be good for you and
- 32:23your family. In other words. It's sort
- 32:26of just he handles it with hostility. Look,
- 32:29Saeed has every right to be, this guy's
- 32:31a racist troll asshole and to hate him internally.
- 32:34But it's an opportunity. Politics is a performance.
- 32:37And in that space, he had that opportunity to
- 32:40be, come on, guy, you're just asking me
- 32:44that because of the color, because of the way
- 32:46I look and because of my funny last name, right?
- 32:49Donald J. Trump shows that Saeed, if anything,
- 32:53was too calm. He should have lit him up. If I
- 32:56was on that stage, and as someone who comes, Robby,
- 32:58do you avow white supremacy in the KKK? How do
- 33:04you think I would handle that? Well, I know how
- 33:06you'd handle it, but I don't think that would
- 33:08be the right way to handle it as your campaign manager, and
- 33:10I would insist on being your campaign manager
- 33:12and I would try to rein you in and I'd be talking
- 33:15to you for your butt, and I'd be, don't do
- 33:17it, Robby, don't do it. I get that, right? Here, but
- 33:20here's the thing though. Pull up, pull up, here's
- 33:22the thing though. People are so used to fake laundered
- 33:25responses. People are hungry for authenticity.
- 33:28Light that bastard up. You will get... Yeah,
- 33:32you might lose a couple of Karens, but you're
- 33:34going to get a lot of people over there
- 33:36with JT smiling. He's running? He's running.
- 33:38Yeah, keep going. Go for the throat. I agree
- 33:41with you. I agree with Robby. It's Michigan.
- 33:42I agree with Robby on this one. Michigan is
- 33:45adjacent to Minnesota Nice. It's Michigan. People
- 33:49there don't like that kind of shit. I think,
- 33:52honestly, if he wins, it's going to be a squeaker
- 33:54because of this person, this kind of macho
- 33:57kind of butch atmosphere vibe
- 34:00that Saeed projects. If he were a little
- 34:03calmer, people in Michigan who are not
- 34:06gonna, maybe on the fence about him, aren't gonna
- 34:08vote for him. It's because he's Muslim, right? Well,
- 34:12don't be a hothead, right? Don't be a Muslim and
- 34:15a. Don't be a Muslim and a be a Muslim and backhand
- 34:20that dude. I agree with Robby on this. I don't
- 34:25think he needs to be docile. I don't
- 34:28want him to be... I'm not really saying he should
- 34:31be docile. I think it's more he should be
- 34:34more a Toreador where he exhausts
- 34:37the bull, a bullfighter, basically
- 34:40yeah, matador, the bull for the bullfighter
- 34:43exhausts the bull, right, by just having him
- 34:46provoking him, having him run by and finally
- 34:49he just walks up to him and stabs him and he's
- 34:51dinner that night, and that's what
- 34:54he should have done. He should have been
- 34:55look, I could have played with that guy
- 34:59so well. He had a good answer
- 35:03but I just think that he's. He comes off
- 35:07as an asshole. I'm sorry. He comes off as a douche.
- 35:12The first time he came across with a guy, I agree
- 35:14with you, that he came across as a douche. On
- 35:16this one, the guy was asking for it. The guy
- 35:22deserved to be slapped in the face. That's not
- 35:25what I'm getting at. Do you know what the Constitution
- 35:27is? Yeah. Really? That's so bad. What am I to
- 35:33do with that, right? I know you're coming
- 35:36at me because I'm a Muslim. You're alienating
- 35:40me. You're alienating me once again because I'm
- 35:43a Muslim. I wouldn't be shocked if somebody said
- 35:44that guy didn't do that, right? I guess the question
- 35:48is, what's the right response to it? I don't
- 35:50think he was, I don't think he was too much of,
- 35:54too, I agree with his response. I don't
- 35:58think he was being too much of a dick. I think
- 36:00his thing was kind of, why are you asking
- 36:02me that question? All right, we've litigated.
- 36:04Which is a fair question. It reminded me a little
- 36:06bit of Biden when he was confronted and he lost
- 36:09it and he called the voter a pony-faced dog
- 36:13soldier or some shit. Dog-faced pony soldier.
- 36:17Whatever the fuck that meant. Joe Biden gets
- 36:20away with that. Trump gets away with it. Well,
- 36:21it looked weird, though. Okay, well, let's talk
- 36:24about it through a different lens. You mentioned
- 36:27him being a Muslim in Michigan. It puts people
- 36:30off on some level, and so he should be more docile.
- 36:33They used to say the same thing to Obama, right?
- 36:35Where Obama was, look, you don't want to
- 36:39be the angry black man. You want to be so forth.
- 36:41The reality of it is, I don't think that's true.
- 36:43I look at Trump and I think to myself, the political
- 36:46space widens to accommodate the thing that's
- 36:49in the political space. Yeah, but Trump's an
- 36:52old white Protestant? Yeah, but him
- 36:57being this angry black man thing, that trope
- 37:02needs to go. White people get very angry. Sure,
- 37:05I couldn't agree more. I think it's ridiculous,
- 37:08but. I guess what I'm saying, I also
- 37:10am Muslim, and I get the Muslim thing is an
- 37:13issue, but Michigan has a huge Muslim population.
- 37:15It may not be the totality, but there's a large
- 37:17Muslim population. He should be the representation
- 37:19of who he is. I don't want him to be fake.
- 37:23If that's who he is, I want him to be that person.
- 37:25And the reality of, look, it's a wave election.
- 37:28If he's going to get in, this is his chance.
- 37:31If he loses this election, he never had a chance.
- 37:35True, true. If he wants to be pissed off at that
- 37:38person for being a dick to him, I would imagine
- 37:40there are a lot of people who look at that and
- 37:41say, good on you for being a dick to that guy.
- 37:44You never, I never killed a guy that
- 37:46didn't deserve it. That guy deserves it. There
- 37:49will be other people that won't. Let's do some
- 37:51comments here. I don't fully disagree with you,
- 37:55depending on the context. So in this context,
- 37:57I think you're fine. Black Spock. My apologies
- 38:00to Peter. That lady was indeed a heifer. $5.
- 38:03Thank you very much for that. Frazzle says, please
- 38:08tell Jamarl a great interview with Sarah Bills.
- 38:11Thank you. By the way, we'll have a great interview
- 38:13tomorrow with Thaddeus Russell. Oh, he's back.
- 38:16He's going to be back. Oh, right. That's just
- 38:18that. No, no, no. We're going to air that tomorrow.
- 38:21That was, yeah. So that's, yeah, that's a pretext.
- 38:25He's going to be back, by the way. Oh, yeah.
- 38:27No, he was fantastic. Let's see. Mr. A. Lee says,
- 38:35don't go to Cambodia. If any of you Americans
- 38:36are thinking of going, the Chinese government
- 38:38sentenced the scam center leaders to death. And
- 38:42there is a power struggle. Very dangerous. I
- 38:45like Cambodia. I went, I think it was two years
- 38:49ago. Blake goes, wean me for Wednesday, Ted.
- 38:52You're getting $5 closer. Ever closer. My covert
- 38:58narcissist mom called me a liar when I told her
- 39:01about the bullying swats I got from school and
- 39:04attempted suicide. She blamed me for her lying
- 39:07about my Asperger's ruined my life. It's a really
- 39:11common dynamic. That's so fucked up though. It's
- 39:15so fucked up. It's your allegiances and
- 39:18your responsibilities are mixed for some reason.
- 39:22Your kids should always come first. I
- 39:25liked what Pamela Anderson talked about her divorce
- 39:30and she said that ultimately that she had to
- 39:34choose between her husband who she really loved
- 39:36and her kids and she chose the kids. Yeah, I
- 39:40get that. That's what happened and that's
- 39:44what happened in my marriage. I had to choose
- 39:46the kid. Yeah. Faraj Jamarl congratulations
- 39:51on 80,000. Keep it up. Thanks for the dono. Efiso
- 39:57said, did you know the Israelis make you remove
- 39:59your cross before the wall? Humiliation ritual.
- 40:02Isn't that denying Christ for Zionism? Christians
- 40:05can be such frauds. Thanks for the dollar. Let's
- 40:10see. And Efiso also says he needs to hire the
- 40:14angry Obama translator. One dollar. That's hilarious.
- 40:19That is very, yeah. That's very great. All
- 40:22right, we have a lot to talk about here. We haven't
- 40:24even, we, I guess we did. We did. We knocked down
- 40:26the Ramaswamy thing, but we got to talk about
- 40:29France. We got to talk about Mississippi. We got
- 40:32to talk about Russia and Ukraine. Let me reply
- 40:34to this comment real quick from only time will
- 40:37tell. Robby, do you fly a swastika in your
- 40:40lounge room? Yes or no. I do. You're hanging from
- 40:47the wall, right? That's different. What
- 40:50I did is I have the stainless banners. So for
- 40:53those of you who do not know your history, the
- 40:55stainless banners is the Confederate battle flag,
- 40:58the top left corner, the American flag on
- 41:01a white field. And my swastika is right there
- 41:04in the middle of it because I want to be as offensive
- 41:06as I possibly can. That's so wrong. That's so
- 41:10wrong. Let's talk about France. Okay, let's talk.
- 41:15Vive la France. Vive la France. While Macron
- 41:20is out of the country as his own country
- 41:24burns down, you can imagine that adds a certain
- 41:27amount of context to why France is in the situation
- 41:31that it is. These guys were in Norway, Oslo,
- 41:35Norway, the other day, making deals and agreements
- 41:37with the idea, supposedly, quote
- 41:41unquote, to end the war. And none of these things
- 41:43are mixed, but I'm mixing them for a reason.
- 41:45Just before that, though, you had Zelensky working
- 41:48with the Europeans to try to get tens, if not
- 41:51hundreds of billions of dollars. They'll have
- 41:53a $90 billion budget shortfall. And they're
- 41:56talking about $100 billion in the next year,
- 41:59or for that matter, going forward for Ukraine.
- 42:01And they're saying all of this while Europe burns
- 42:05to the ground. Have you seen Albania? Have you
- 42:07seen France? These places are just getting
- 42:09wowed. And I guess my question to you is. How
- 42:14do you contextualize it, being French? When
- 42:16you're looking at this, what's, I'm curious on
- 42:20your point of view of this. I've had somebody
- 42:22give an economic breakdown of it, but I'm curious
- 42:24just as having a citizenship, what's your thoughts?
- 42:27Well, one of the big, I
- 42:30always think that the way I define the difference
- 42:32between the left and the right is that the right
- 42:35believes that the citizens are meant primarily
- 42:38to serve the glory of the state. And the left
- 42:42believes that the state exists to provide goods
- 42:46and services, not goods and services, but privileges
- 42:48and rights to individuals. And that's what the
- 42:51left strives for, the things that the state is
- 42:54there to protect that. In that sense, France,
- 42:58which basically is the first modern Western democracy,
- 43:03is the ultimate left country because it's kind
- 43:08of where these ideas were invented that
- 43:10to be a citizen you have certain inalienable
- 43:13rights and that idea in American culture comes
- 43:16out of France, and so for the French when they
- 43:20get the vegas of their rights or privileges being
- 43:24taken away they know that it's not going to end
- 43:27and they have, they know that they can't tolerate
- 43:30it and they have to put an end to it before it
- 43:32goes too far. They're not going to tolerate too
- 43:34much austerity, and so you obviously
- 43:37anybody who's followed French politics has followed
- 43:40has seen this happen before. It's
- 43:43whenever, I used to always joke
- 43:46if the bus fare goes up by one centime, cities
- 43:49burn. When you visit France,
- 43:52you have to kind of just as a tourist, you have
- 43:54to allow, oh, there's probably a strike.
- 43:57One time I went to Angoulême, which is the big,
- 43:59it's the biggest comics festival in the world.
- 44:03The entire city gets taken over for a comics
- 44:06festival. And so I was with my mom. We're on
- 44:11the TGV, the high speed rail from Paris to Angoulême.
- 44:16And suddenly. The train comes to a stop in the
- 44:20middle of some marshy fields in the middle
- 44:23of nowhere. We don't know what's going on. The
- 44:25lights are still on. And then finally, this guy
- 44:28comes through an hour later with a suit
- 44:32and tie, not a train conductor in his uniform.
- 44:35And he's, the train system's on strike.
- 44:41And I'm, what happened? And he's, yeah.
- 44:44The guys just, they got the call that they were
- 44:47going on strike, so they just stopped the train
- 44:50in the middle of nowhere. Their buds come and
- 44:52pick them up in their car, and we're the management,
- 44:55so we have to kind of figure out how we're
- 44:57going to get the train started up again and get
- 44:59you guys to your destination, and it was
- 45:01okay. So here's the kicker: what was the cause
- 45:03of the strike? One of their union members had
- 45:07been accused of raping a customer in southern
- 45:10France. Now I was, do you think he did it
- 45:13and it's, it doesn't really matter. One of
- 45:17our guys has been charged with something. We're
- 45:19on strike. That's the French way. That's
- 45:26an example of kind of how silly it can be, right?
- 45:28Really, you can go on strike
- 45:30after you delivered the train to its station.
- 45:32You couldn't really. No, it's always
- 45:35it's called en grève, right? On strike, en grève, right?
- 45:39And so it could happen at any
- 45:41moment. You could be, and when the cops were
- 45:43oh, and in that incident, when the train went
- 45:46on strike the teachers and the cops and the
- 45:49and the firefighters all went on strike. Everybody
- 45:51wanted to strike just because, right? So this is
- 45:56the standard thing, and that was a minor. The thing
- 45:58I'm talking about didn't even make international
- 46:00news. It was nothing. So this is just a bigger
- 46:04version of something that's always around in
- 46:06French culture. I don't lose a lot of sleep over
- 46:08it. I think French people, Americans
- 46:10are shocked. And I think, look, this is more
- 46:13serious than usual, obviously. But it's still
- 46:16kind of it's on a continuum. And
- 46:20it's kind of people, oh, I wouldn't visit
- 46:22France right now. I would. I don't care.
- 46:24Whatever. It's normal. In fact, I'd be more likely
- 46:26to go there. I'm very curious from their own
- 46:35mouth about why they're there. Because there's
- 46:38one thing for the media. The media always paints
- 46:40it a particular way. Oh, the Islamists. This
- 46:43has almost nothing to do with any Islamic anything.
- 46:47No, I don't believe it does. This is about austerity
- 46:50is what it's about. There is a thing of them
- 46:54knocking down a building. Have you seen this
- 46:56clip of the building burning to the ground? It's
- 46:59a church or something. The city hall. It's
- 47:01the city hall. Because it's French. Yeah, city
- 47:04halls look great there. The city hall is called
- 47:07the Hôtel de Ville. Yeah, and the fucker burns
- 47:12down. And it's, Americans
- 47:16look at that and they go, oh my God, that's awful.
- 47:18But a lot of French people, not all French people,
- 47:20conservatives don't, but a lot of lefties look
- 47:22at it and they're, Yeah, that's great. Bring
- 47:25on the revolution. Yeah, this is who we
- 47:29are, right? It's in our blood. It's Japanese,
- 47:34Germans be organized, Americans be invading,
- 47:38Brits be colonial-y, and the French like to
- 47:41burn shit down. They are doing God's work. And
- 47:46this is not, just to be very clear, for the YouTube
- 47:48gods, or for the Rumble gods, this is not me
- 47:52thinking that this is great. It's me thinking
- 47:55it's necessary. And there's a difference in those
- 47:57things. And there's a big difference in those
- 47:58things. Well, consider the alternative, right?
- 48:02What is the alternative? We have the alternative
- 48:04right here in the United States. In the United
- 48:07States, there are no protests. City halls don't
- 48:10burn. Nothing happens, right? We have
- 48:13well-ordered, the society is well-
- 48:15ordered to the extent that a massive opioid
- 48:18epidemic is well ordered to the extent that
- 48:21massive numbers of people in prison is well
- 48:23ordered to the extent that trying to execute
- 48:26ladies and not being able to get away to figure
- 48:28it out is well ordered but it's
- 48:31we don't, it's not France and you have
- 48:34the right saying they're using France on
- 48:37on social media to say look at these images if
- 48:39you vote democratic that will come here. It's
- 48:42no because Democrats have been in charge
- 48:45and it didn't happen but it's What's the
- 48:49difference? It doesn't happen here. And so nothing
- 48:52ever changes. Nothing ever gets better. Here's
- 48:56my question to you, Ted. It does change. It goes
- 48:59in a very specific direction. It just gets worse.
- 49:02What are trillion dollars in debt? And
- 49:04you think to yourself, what did you get for the
- 49:07money? And I like to put this in the context
- 49:10of the war because I put it in the context of
- 49:11the war to make the point of saying you've given
- 49:13hundreds of billions of dollars to this Ukraine
- 49:15project. If not trillions you've given trillions,
- 49:18tens of trades to the Middle East project that
- 49:21got rolled up in six months. You spent decades
- 49:26on this. Meanwhile Americans are eating out of
- 49:29garbage cans. Yes and you lose and you lose. Meaning
- 49:34you get rolled up by a third-rate military and
- 49:37I don't mean a second-rate military. I should
- 49:39say look you're sending a well a front
- 49:43strongly worded email to the White
- 49:45House was going to change things. That'd
- 49:48be amazing. We just don't live in that world.
- 49:50It doesn't work. But here's my question, Ted.
- 49:52You're a French citizen, so I can't think of
- 49:55a better person to ask. When the French get tired
- 49:58of cannibalizing their own country, will the
- 50:01policies actually change? Will the French government
- 50:04actually address these issues? If they're not,
- 50:08all they're doing is burning their stuff down.
- 50:10All they're doing is crapping in their yard.
- 50:12Look, there's no telling how far this goes. But
- 50:15yes, the French government is going to have to
- 50:17address these issues, whether it's to the satisfaction
- 50:20of everyone involved, because of this story that
- 50:24we're talking about, right? The doom loop. I
- 50:26the doom loop is a big thing, right? The
- 50:29bond markets are complaining. They're, okay,
- 50:33France is already in massive debt. We don't really,
- 50:37if you're going to... keep up the way
- 50:39you're going and especially if you spend more
- 50:41money to address to fix up the schools and pay
- 50:44the teachers better and do all these things that
- 50:47the protesters want then you're
- 50:51going to have to pay us higher yields and it's
- 50:53going to cost you even more and then you're going
- 50:55to have to cut budget even more so that that's
- 50:58what the so-called doom loop is. Supposedly they
- 51:01have the highest yields in Europe already, even
- 51:06more than Italy. And I'm super curious on this
- 51:09other thing. You're right about the doom loop.
- 51:11They don't control their own currency. They have
- 51:13euros. So it's not they can just print money.
- 51:17That's the difference. The United States has
- 51:19reserve currency, and it's got AI-driven growth,
- 51:24and we're a much bigger economy. We're a sovereign
- 51:27country. Also, we can print our own money. They
- 51:29can't. Yeah. No, they should never have joined
- 51:32the euro. That would be a way out, by
- 51:34the way. They could do Frexit. And that would
- 51:37be a way out. But you haven't answered my question,
- 51:41though. Yeah. I think they will have to.
- 51:47If history is a guide, recent and long,
- 51:51generically speaking, when the people of France
- 51:54rise up and burn shit down, the government usually
- 51:57caves and makes concessions. But can they make
- 52:01the concessions? JT said, they don't
- 52:03control their economy. Can they do it? Do you
- 52:06think that the French government is going to
- 52:08cut Zelensky loose? Do you think the French government
- 52:10is going to end the welfare payments to Israel?
- 52:12I actually think they will because I think Marine
- 52:14Le Pen will be the president next year and she
- 52:17will cut Ukraine loose. Will Brussels? Oh, wait,
- 52:20wait, wait. Brussels will let her. Well, there
- 52:24are two parts to that. One, when they do to France
- 52:27like they did to Greece, where they were basically
- 52:29cut off the credit if they needed to cut off
- 52:31the credit. Meaning the way they treated Greece,
- 52:33they've given France grace. The first time around
- 52:36during the Yellow Vest protests, I remember we
- 52:38were covering this, France gets grace from Brussels
- 52:43in order to run a higher budget deficit because
- 52:46France had to make concessions to the Yellow
- 52:48Vest movement to get them to chill out. Now,
- 52:51the catch becomes, are they going to keep doing
- 52:53that? The budget's already through the roof.
- 52:56And Le Pen, I don't... You're that confident?
- 53:01Well, look, I would love Mélenchon to
- 53:04win, and I will vote for him. No, you're
- 53:07that confident that Le Pen, if she won, would
- 53:09do something completely different. I have another
- 53:12French guest that will be on tomorrow that will
- 53:14say the opposite. He doesn't think that she's
- 53:17going to do anything. But give me a take on that.
- 53:20No, no, no. She'll do it because it's
- 53:23her politics and because it makes sense. So it
- 53:28gets France out of this doom loop. It does. And
- 53:33if she makes nice with, maybe it's
- 53:36Nord Stream 3, but this one goes to France. Yeah,
- 53:39but Brexit didn't do all that well for Britain.
- 53:41Britain was far worse off after Brexit than it
- 53:44ever was associated with the European Union.
- 53:46And Britain had a free deal. Britain didn't even
- 53:49have to give up their currency. They were
- 53:52– Right. No, they should never – but
- 53:55the reason that Brexit didn't go well for them
- 53:58is they didn't negotiate alternate trading arrangements,
- 54:01which they could have. The rest of Europe
- 54:04was willing to do that with them, but they were
- 54:07just they didn't do it. They would have
- 54:09never gotten a better deal. Boris Johnson was
- 54:10a maniac. Well, Boris Johnson was a maniac, but
- 54:13they were never going to get a better deal. The
- 54:15European Union working as a collective as opposed
- 54:17to working as individual states, they were always
- 54:19going to get a better deal. In that sense, any
- 54:21individual deal that they would have had to do
- 54:24would have been worse just because Britain was
- 54:25as much smaller country has barely any economy.
- 54:28And so it's, how does this little island
- 54:30push for better deal? The United States wanted
- 54:34to fully take advantage of Britain. And many
- 54:37of those countries, I would imagine, especially
- 54:38the bigger ones, would have just taken advantage
- 54:40of little island Britain. How is France going
- 54:44to be different? Well, I think the difference
- 54:47is that France is. I think it's the beginning
- 54:50of the end for the European project, to be honest.
- 54:52If France is gone, then Germans are going to
- 54:56look at it. The AFD comes to power in more states,
- 54:58and they follow suit. And you end up with a,
- 55:01come on. If it's Frexit and, I don't
- 55:04know, Grexit, it's over. EU is game over, man.
- 55:09Game over. As you point out, France and Germany
- 55:11put the most into the coffers anyway. Exactly.
- 55:14They're paying for the whole thing. If Frexit
- 55:19happens, the European Union is a wounded animal.
- 55:22Very. And it will be preyed upon as individual
- 55:25states. True. Yeah, that is true. Wounded animals
- 55:32are dangerous. I'm aware of that. I guess my
- 55:35question, the catch becomes, you're right about
- 55:38the doom loop thing. They don't control their
- 55:40currency, so they can't print money. And yet
- 55:42they're spending money like drunken sailors.
- 55:45And now they're going to have to spend money.
- 55:46And not on the right shit. Yeah. On military
- 55:51spending that they don't need because somehow
- 55:53they don't own a map and they can't see that
- 55:56Russia is not likely to invade them. Right. And
- 56:00imagine you being a student, your schools are
- 56:02falling down and you're, you're giving tens
- 56:05of billions of euros to this project that has
- 56:08nothing to do with me. Right. It does nothing
- 56:12to do... Let me put it this way. Let's
- 56:14just say for the sake of argument that... the
- 56:16French have a great reason to care about Ukraine
- 56:19which they do not. Even so in the hierarchy
- 56:24of needs sorry Ukraine shouldn't be first.
- 56:28Great. Yeah and they seem to know that
- 56:33as kids. I look at that and I think to myself
- 56:36god man they're so right. Adults and old people
- 56:39look at those kids and they think I can't believe
- 56:41they're causing a ruckus. You've ruined their
- 56:43lives. Those kids have nothing. Meaning you've
- 56:47decided to squander and spend the national wealth
- 56:51on bullshit. They're looking at homes. They're
- 56:56looking at jobs. They're looking at their future.
- 56:58And they're, we have squat. And it's your
- 57:00fault. And they would be right. They're totally
- 57:03right. 100% right. Their anger and their rage
- 57:06is justifiable in this case. It is 100% correct.
- 57:11By the way, I don't know if you saw the picture.
- 57:13I think Fox News was playing it. I think they
- 57:15were trying to say, look how French these guys
- 57:16are. They were sitting at a restaurant, at a
- 57:19cafe, drinking a coffee, smoking. Drinking wine.
- 57:23Yeah. I didn't see that. It was great. I was,
- 57:27oh, that's so French. Oh, my God. That's
- 57:29, yeah, yeah. It reminded me a little bit.
- 57:32This was not in France, but it reminds a little
- 57:34me about I was in Pakistan during the Kargil
- 57:37conflict in 1999, also known as the Third Kashmir
- 57:40War. And I'm at a cafe in the northern areas
- 57:45and eating with my friend. And suddenly a building
- 57:50blows up down the street, right, hit by
- 57:52the Indians that fired a missile over the line
- 57:55of control. And our waiter runs out and he's
- 57:58screams, Indian motherfuckers we will
- 58:02kill you all you bastards. Eat my, suck my cock.
- 58:07And then he's comes over and he's, oh
- 58:10do you want something to drink? You want to cook
- 58:12it? Just gets right back to it. Oh that's great.
- 58:19It's so great when people act like that. Yeah.
- 58:23That is fantastic. That is great. Oh, that's awesome.
- 58:27That's hilarious. When I went to Egypt,
- 58:30I remember, speaking of the Muslim Brotherhood,
- 58:33my wife and I at the time, we go into the place,
- 58:36and my wife asked him a question about whether
- 58:40it's okay. She asked him something, and I think
- 58:44he misunderstood the question. He thought she
- 58:46was saying something, is it safe for me
- 58:48to be without a hijab or something like that?
- 58:51And he says, No, Marcy, no, Marcy, the Muslim
- 58:55Brotherhood is out. We killed him. We're going
- 58:56to kill him. We're going to kill him. And we're,
- 58:58whoa. That's pretty heavy, right? But it's
- 59:01the way they say stuff. Yeah. Sometimes it's
- 59:04the way they say stuff. She's, no, you're
- 59:06going to kill him. We're going to kill him. He's
- 59:08in jail. Yeah, it's always like that. Yeah,
- 59:12one of my books is titled like that. I had a
- 59:14conversation over dinner with this Taliban guy.
- 59:17Fascinating dude. He worked for the Northern
- 59:19Alliance government before doing irrigation
- 59:25and urban planning. And then at night, he would
- 59:28go out with his friends in the Taliban and blow
- 59:30shit up. And he saw no conflict at all here.
- 59:34And so we were talking about tourism and stuff
- 59:38like that. And he's, look, here's how it
- 59:41is. Nowadays, we see Americans, we're going to
- 59:45kill you. You're invaders, we hate you. But we're
- 59:49going to take our country back. And after that,
- 59:51you will be able to come back. And it's just
- 59:54Vietnam. You're able to go to Vietnam now
- 59:57and you're treated well and there's tourism and
- 59:59you go to the beach and you're treated fine.
- 1:00:02And he's, first, and so he said, after we
- 1:00:05kill you, we will welcome you back as honored
- 1:00:07guests. And that was the title of the movie.
- 1:00:11It's a matter of fact. Yeah. It's a matter of
- 1:00:14fact. Yeah. Oh, that's funny. And the dude turned
- 1:00:18out to be right. Americans can totally
- 1:00:20visit Afghanistan now. It's totally safe. It's
- 1:00:23safer now than it's ever been, for sure. Did
- 1:00:25you see the commercials for the tourism for Afghanistan?
- 1:00:27It was a... Oh my God, I did. That is hilarious.
- 1:00:32It's so hilarious. The guy, they were pretending
- 1:00:35as a hostage and they were taking photos. Yeah,
- 1:00:38yeah, yeah. Oh, Robby, can you find that? Oh
- 1:00:41my God. Can you find that video and put that
- 1:00:43up? Yeah, it was... Don't tell me Afghans
- 1:00:47aren't funny as because they are. Yeah man. God
- 1:00:49man that thing was funny. Yeah it was the
- 1:00:52Afghan tourism ad with the hostage. Yeah. Let's
- 1:00:56see. Okay, hostage by the Taliban. It's, oh
- 1:00:59yeah that's okay. Henry says, forget taxing the
- 1:01:02rich. Appropriate their yachts, mansions, jets, cars
- 1:01:05and islands. Yeah as long as we're not spending
- 1:01:06that money for Ukraine. Ryan says, I would
- 1:01:10actually vote Democrat if I actually believed
- 1:01:13it would get Americans to strike and fight like
- 1:01:15the French. I would have voted for Obama if he
- 1:01:17was really a socialist Muslim. Voting and street
- 1:01:21action are not the same thing, and I think Americans
- 1:01:24really need to understand that. You can't vote
- 1:01:26yourself out of a situation like this. Democrats
- 1:01:29are going to win in a couple of weeks, and it's
- 1:01:32not going to make any fucking difference in a
- 1:01:34material way to anybody's life. Which is sad.
- 1:01:40Which is sad. Voting should have consequences.
- 1:01:42And not consequences in a negative sense. Doesn't
- 1:01:46Le Pen like their version of Trump or W.H.T.?
- 1:01:51I'm, not really. She's definitely
- 1:01:54on the right, although not. First of
- 1:01:57all, I listened to her statement about the riots
- 1:02:01and, setting the politics aside. She's
- 1:02:06so intelligent. And she's, she basically
- 1:02:09spent about 60 percent of the video complaining,
- 1:02:12saying that we need to have law and
- 1:02:14order, that there's no excuse for burning
- 1:02:17things down, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then
- 1:02:19she said, look, there are legitimate
- 1:02:21grievances here and they need to be addressed
- 1:02:24in a calm, reasonable way. That's not
- 1:02:27the kind of thing Trump would have said.
- 1:02:29There was nuance. And she had beautiful
- 1:02:32and she speaks beautifully. Mélenchon, I've seen
- 1:02:36his response. So I was watching in France, a
- 1:02:39parliamentary meeting, and I don't know who was
- 1:02:43yelling at the guy. It was a communist that was
- 1:02:44making an argument. And he angrily says, we have
- 1:02:51blood on our hands because we were fighting the
- 1:02:52Nazis. You all were collaborators. And I was,
- 1:02:56whoa, that's strong. That's strong, right?
- 1:03:00In Mélenchon's case, where does... he on this
- 1:03:03where's he falling on us because
- 1:03:06they're trying to blame the left. They're saying
- 1:03:07this is a left-wing issue. This is the left that's
- 1:03:10burning down France. The internal politics of
- 1:03:13it from the standpoint of Mélenchon and the Unbowed
- 1:03:15party, where are they on this? Oh well they're
- 1:03:18on team protest for sure and they have been.
- 1:03:21Certainly it's a fair statement to say
- 1:03:24that they're not re that they're they definitely
- 1:03:27have been approving of it. They've made some sort
- 1:03:30of, well, the kids are getting a little
- 1:03:33spicy. It's not OK to burn down stores.
- 1:03:38You can't stop that. But it's not. Come
- 1:03:41on. We know where their heart stands.
- 1:03:43The France Insoumise is a militant far by
- 1:03:47American standards, a far left communist party.
- 1:03:50So it's going to be so they have to,
- 1:03:54they have to thread this needle. Right. It's
- 1:03:56kind of. This thing is definitely all for
- 1:03:59them, but they can't be perceived by swing voters
- 1:04:03as being, revolutionaries who
- 1:04:07are looking to burn the whole country down just
- 1:04:09for the sake of doing that. But, but
- 1:04:12privately, they're, they're,
- 1:04:14yeah, go team. I'm looking for the ads. I don't
- 1:04:18read Arabic, so it's taking a little bit of time.
- 1:04:20As soon as I find it, though, I'll let you know.
- 1:04:22Okay. Thank you, Robby. From the standpoint
- 1:04:24of Mélenchon, would Mélenchon pull out of the
- 1:04:26European Union if he could and did he have the
- 1:04:28power to do it? Well that would have to be.
- 1:04:33I think under French law they would have to leave
- 1:04:35the way that they came in by plebiscite referendum.
- 1:04:37Okay. Yeah. With the public leave. That's a good
- 1:04:43question. I think it depends on how it's. When
- 1:04:46Brexit happened the first time around that was
- 1:04:48just propaganda with Brexit, right? Yeah true but
- 1:04:52the guy made the point of saying, yeah we're
- 1:04:54not, we would never offer him something like that.
- 1:04:56That's the guy was basically talking for France.
- 1:04:58He was, we would never offer our population
- 1:05:00a referendum on this. He was seeing Britain and
- 1:05:03he said what's taking place in Britain is chaos.
- 1:05:05Found it. Y'all ready? We're ready. Oh this is
- 1:05:09it. Yeah. Message to America. We have one message
- 1:05:19from America. Welcome to Afghanistan. That is wow.
- 1:05:46Property abuse government. They do have some good
- 1:05:59melons do they? Yeah maybe that's the trip. Oh
- 1:06:06Afghanistan's awesome. I'd go back in a second
- 1:06:10with you. I don't want to do the hostage video
- 1:06:12thing. That's too cool. No you don't need to. No
- 1:06:14the truth is no it's a wonderful country.
- 1:06:18The people are fantastic and funny as. No question
- 1:06:22about it. Such a great sense of humor.
- 1:06:27But they're, what's so interesting is they're not. There's
- 1:06:32no SSRIs in their water supply. Those people
- 1:06:36when you look in their eyes they're wild.
- 1:06:39They're not us. What I mean.
- 1:06:42It's they're untamed. It's kind of amazing.
- 1:06:46Yeah they're great. You call them feral. They're
- 1:06:52feral but I mean that as a compliment.
- 1:06:56Frazmataz, question for Ted, if you could speculate
- 1:06:59on who killed Shah Massoud and why. So Ahmed
- 1:07:02Shah Massoud was the head of the Northern Alliance.
- 1:07:04He was a general warlord and he was killed on
- 1:07:089-10-2001, right? The day before 9-11. Basically,
- 1:07:13it was guys who posed as an Italian camera crew
- 1:07:19saying, oh, we're coming to interview you. And
- 1:07:23there was a bomb in the camera. And it blew him
- 1:07:25up. I think if memory serves, this happened in
- 1:07:29northeastern Afghanistan in the Wakhan Corridor.
- 1:07:33And this was basically the conventional
- 1:07:37wisdom was this was Osama bin Laden's gift to
- 1:07:41the Northern Alliance on his sorry to the Taliban
- 1:07:44as a thank you for hosting me. I'm going
- 1:07:48to get rid of your worst enemy. That's who
- 1:07:53they say did it. It never really made a lot of
- 1:07:55sense to me because it's kind of,
- 1:07:57he was hosted by the Taliban several years earlier
- 1:08:01and he could have done that for them earlier.
- 1:08:04And so why wait until the day before 9-11?
- 1:08:09I'm not at all sure it was him. To be honest,
- 1:08:12if I had to guess, I think it's probably the
- 1:08:14agents working for the Uzbek warlord Rashid Dostum,
- 1:08:18who was the reason was a crazy psychotic who
- 1:08:24was the reason that Kabul looked the way that
- 1:08:27it did. He personally leveled Kabul during
- 1:08:30the Afghan civil war in the 1990s but pure speculation
- 1:08:34and General Dostum I know we've met and if
- 1:08:38you're watching if it wasn't you my bad. I'm just
- 1:08:41guessing. It may not have been you but I think
- 1:08:43it was you. Yeah interesting interesting because
- 1:08:50there were so many rival warlords
- 1:08:53trying to kneecap each other. Yeah yeah.
- 1:08:56Austin wanted to be the boss of the Northern
- 1:08:58Alliance and I think he had the ability
- 1:09:02to do it. He had the geographic proximity to do
- 1:09:05it. He had the know-how and he
- 1:09:08had the motivation more so than bin
- 1:09:12Laden did. That's interesting but who
- 1:09:19knows. All right so what should we talk about?
- 1:09:23Mississippi, Russia. Yeah let's do Russia. I
- 1:09:28Steve Witkoff has been in Saint Petersburg
- 1:09:29so we have to hit that. Okay. Did you see the
- 1:09:33there's a great clip that I was talking
- 1:09:37to Sarah about that Witkoff and there's going
- 1:09:40to be oceans of ink written about it so we might
- 1:09:43as well talk about it now. This is in fact I'll
- 1:09:46give Robby this clip. I don't know if you saw
- 1:09:50any of the commentary that's been coming out
- 1:09:54between those two, or between Witkoff being there.
- 1:09:58This was one of the opening conversations. He
- 1:10:04tells Putin, he says, and I'm going to read this
- 1:10:08out, he says, you talk so much about my president,
- 1:10:10President Trump, and Robby, it's in the bottom,
- 1:10:13if you can drop it in for us. In fact, it's no
- 1:10:16point in me saying. I'll just let Robby put
- 1:10:18it in. I just dropped it in. Long so short there
- 1:10:24it is. Witkoff goes to meet
- 1:10:29Zelensky and some other European leaders meaning
- 1:10:33all of them have a contention in this meeting
- 1:10:36in Oslo Norway. Beautiful country, beautiful location.
- 1:10:38They come out. Zelensky is more chill. He's more
- 1:10:43subdued. Apparently Marco Rubio had a conversation
- 1:10:46with Zelensky in order to clear up the quote
- 1:10:48BS, unquote, as Lindsay was saying, about not
- 1:10:51getting the weapon shipments, not getting a notice
- 1:10:54for the standpoint of ballistic missiles hitting
- 1:10:56the country, and also not their Starlink being
- 1:11:00slowed down. All right, put a pin in this one
- 1:11:02real quick. Elon Musk's Wall Street Journal is
- 1:11:05reporting that we were right. Trump did turn
- 1:11:10down Starlink. And apparently, Wall Street Journal
- 1:11:14is reporting that Trump contacted Musk, who turned
- 1:11:17down Starlink. Right. Because Trump was pissed
- 1:11:20off. Now, from my point of view, this is obvious,
- 1:11:22right? Zelensky is going out humiliating the
- 1:11:25president every day. Trump says, stop hitting
- 1:11:27refineries. Zelensky keeps hitting refineries.
- 1:11:30It makes the president look like an asshole.
- 1:11:31So the president says, turn it down. Elon Musk
- 1:11:35turns it down. Zelensky screams. Finally, Rubio
- 1:11:40apparently had a conversation to read the riot
- 1:11:41act to Zelensky, in which case Zelensky was far
- 1:11:43more chilled and the European leaders comes out
- 1:11:45far more subdued than they were before they went
- 1:11:48into that meeting with Witkoff. Witkoff is now
- 1:11:50taking the message from the Europeans, from Zelensky,
- 1:11:54from the White House, to the Kremlin, or at the
- 1:11:58very least to St. Petersburg. Let's play this
- 1:12:01clip. This is Witkoff having a conversation with
- 1:12:04Putin. He's a 75-year-old man, and you talk
- 1:12:08so much about my president, President Trump,
- 1:12:11being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian
- 1:12:15also, sir. And I salute that. I commend you and
- 1:12:18I thank you again. Man and you talk so much President
- 1:12:27Trump. Witkoff goes and tells Putin, well you say
- 1:12:34Trump is humanitarian. Well you sir are also a
- 1:12:37humanitarian. The collective asses that are going
- 1:12:42to pucker. The oceans of ink that are going to
- 1:12:45be written about that is fantastic. I can't wait.
- 1:12:48True. It's already started. I can't. I can't.
- 1:12:53I could instantaneously. Those words came out
- 1:12:56of his mouth. Yeah. Witkoff goes to lick Putin's
- 1:12:59ass. That's what's going to be written, right?
- 1:13:05Also, the sucking up is interesting to me. Also,
- 1:13:08the deal about the diesel, all of these things
- 1:13:11are interconnected to one another. Him saying,
- 1:13:14stop hitting the refineries. Again, interconnected
- 1:13:16to the deal that was made because Donald Trump
- 1:13:18has a trouble with diesel because diesel is still
- 1:13:20going up. Diesel is up to nearly $6.50 in Richmond.
- 1:13:25I'm fascinated by that. First, I guess the main
- 1:13:29question is, will this matter? My argument was,
- 1:13:33Witkoff goes to St. Petersburg to waste Putin's
- 1:13:36time because they can never offer Putin what
- 1:13:38he needs to ultimately end the war. They can't
- 1:13:42do it. NATO expansion is the issue. And until
- 1:13:45the White House deals with that, they're not
- 1:13:47really dealing with anything. Give me your thoughts,
- 1:13:50though. Do you think that there's anything here?
- 1:13:52Maybe I'm being too cynical. No, I think,
- 1:13:58I think, right, that's, it's kind of
- 1:14:00, there's the whole cliche in American
- 1:14:05foreign policy circles that somehow the Soviet
- 1:14:08Union and now Russia is, right, an enigma wrapped
- 1:14:11in a puzzle, wrapped in a, that's just not true
- 1:14:14in this case, right? Things are very
- 1:14:17clear and have been clear, going back
- 1:14:20into the 1990s. Quit fucking with us. Quit expanding
- 1:14:25your military alliance towards our border and
- 1:14:28quit trying to get it up against our border.
- 1:14:31Quit fucking with us. And Russia has not modified
- 1:14:35its demands or requests at all in all of that
- 1:14:39time. Frankly, they could have. We're kind of
- 1:14:42lucky that they haven't been more
- 1:14:44maximalist and said, well, now that
- 1:14:47we're winning and you force us to go to war,
- 1:14:49we're going to need this and that and the other.
- 1:14:50No, really, it's always still asking for the
- 1:14:53same thing. I think Putin happily goes home with
- 1:14:59a no NATO assurance and a neutral
- 1:15:02Ukraine, the Donbass and Crimea and maybe a buffer
- 1:15:06zone. He goes home and that's it. War over. The
- 1:15:12Americans know this or they should know this
- 1:15:14if they don't know this. So I don't
- 1:15:18know why they're dicking around except that they
- 1:15:20know they can't win but it's they're sniffing
- 1:15:23around and trying to figure out well you
- 1:15:25know maybe if we maybe if we send
- 1:15:28Putin some we don't know what a
- 1:15:31magazine subscription then he'll back off or
- 1:15:33something. It's we know what he needs, right?
- 1:15:36Yeah. So it's a little mystifying, but what
- 1:15:42I read from this is America wants a deal. Putin's
- 1:15:48always willing to listen, but he's not going
- 1:15:52to change his mind. Because the thing is, I think
- 1:15:54what the Americans don't get is that for Russia,
- 1:15:57it's a need. It's not a want. It's not,
- 1:16:01oh, I'd like to have no more Ukraine, not in
- 1:16:05NATO. They feel they can't abide it. They
- 1:16:09can't have it. And it's true, what
- 1:16:13Kinzer, who, by the way, is confirmed for November
- 1:16:166th, says in his upcoming book, Boiling Point,
- 1:16:19that any president of Russia would have done
- 1:16:25exactly the same thing, regardless of their politics.
- 1:16:28And that is true. Broach this
- 1:16:33to people who are friends of mine,
- 1:16:35most of my friends support Ukraine. They're on
- 1:16:37Team Ukraine. And when I broach this, I'm,
- 1:16:40I explain this. What would you do if you
- 1:16:43were the president of this country and you were
- 1:16:45in that situation? You wouldn't invade? Well,
- 1:16:49they shouldn't invade. You shouldn't invade the
- 1:16:50United States. Answer my question. What would
- 1:16:52you do in that situation? That's how I assess
- 1:16:55people's actions, right? Why is Jeffrey
- 1:16:59Epstein a creep? Because I know if I were Jeffrey
- 1:17:01Epstein, I wouldn't have done any of those things.
- 1:17:03OK, so that's how I assess it. It's, but
- 1:17:07if I were Vladimir Putin, I would have done exactly
- 1:17:08the same thing. That's how I assess that. People
- 1:17:11who are NATO supporters and people who are
- 1:17:14hardcore NATO supporters on the radio station.
- 1:17:17And it was the same line of thought. It was,
- 1:17:19what would the United States do in this situation?
- 1:17:22Meaning, what else do you want him to do?
- 1:17:24Or people who are hardcore anti-war activists.
- 1:17:27And it's, I get that you're an anti-war
- 1:17:29activist, but tell me, what do you do in this
- 1:17:30situation? And it's, well, I believe in
- 1:17:33peace. I get that you believe in peace, but the
- 1:17:36world doesn't revolve around your idea of things.
- 1:17:39It revolves around how people actually behave
- 1:17:41and the job that you have at your disposal. The
- 1:17:43job of the president of Russia is to defend the
- 1:17:45integrity of Russia, right? So it's, oh,
- 1:17:49I'm a peacenik. Yeah, but they're killing ethnic
- 1:17:52Russian Ukrainians. Yeah, but I'm a peacemaker.
- 1:17:54Yeah, but they're expanding to the border of
- 1:17:55Ukraine and they've overthrown that country.
- 1:17:58So you have a hostile entity on your border that
- 1:18:01hates your guts. They're being backed by the
- 1:18:05U.S. who overthrew the government itself and
- 1:18:08that has overthrown multiple countries over the
- 1:18:10years, meaning they have slowly gotten closer
- 1:18:13and closer to your borders. And now they're on
- 1:18:16your border. And now they're on your border.
- 1:18:18And you are telling me, but I'm a peacenik. You're
- 1:18:20being militarily surrounded, but I'm a peacenik.
- 1:18:23Okay, that dog doesn't bark. You have to respond
- 1:18:28to the reality that you're presented with. And
- 1:18:30in the reality he was presented with, NATO is
- 1:18:34expanding to my border. They've overthrown the
- 1:18:36largest country in Europe, and they've overthrown
- 1:18:38the country that Europe has used to invade Russia
- 1:18:41on multiple occasions to the tune of killing
- 1:18:43tens of millions of us. What are we to do? And
- 1:18:47you say, well, what would the U.S. do? Well,
- 1:18:49we destroyed or we were about to destroy Cuba.
- 1:18:52We were about to end the world over Cuba. Don't
- 1:18:57tell me the stuff we are, Russia is
- 1:19:00doing something that is anomalous. We were willing
- 1:19:03to overthrow the government. We were willing
- 1:19:06to go to war to prop up a dictator in Nicaragua.
- 1:19:10We were willing to go to war to prop up any
- 1:19:15dictatorship that we wanted in South America.
- 1:19:18We assassinated a leftist president in Argentina.
- 1:19:22We toppled the government. We created Panama
- 1:19:30by separating it from Colombia. Over
- 1:19:33and over and over. We want our will to be, we
- 1:19:38want total dominance over the entire Western
- 1:19:40hemisphere. And Putin's not asking for that.
- 1:19:45Putin's asking for what Russian leaders going
- 1:19:48back to the czars have always wanted which is
- 1:19:52inert buffer states surrounding Russia. That's
- 1:19:56because of their geographical positioning. They
- 1:19:58have big borders. They don't have. They're not
- 1:20:01protected by massive mountain ranges or massive
- 1:20:04rivers or bodies of water. They need. They
- 1:20:08need to have, especially in a place like Ukraine,
- 1:20:10which is a traditional invasion route, they need
- 1:20:14to have that. They don't need to own it, but
- 1:20:16they need to rent it. They need to know that
- 1:20:19their calls will get returned. They need to know
- 1:20:21that those people there will not, it's at
- 1:20:24bare minimum, we're good. You're not fucking
- 1:20:26with us, right? That's all they need to know.
- 1:20:28It's just the independence, which is what they've
- 1:20:31been asking for. They never asked the rule
- 1:20:33of Ukraine. And even the conversation with Putin,
- 1:20:36I think what's happening with Tucker, he was,
- 1:20:37we've never lifted a finger for Ukraine.
- 1:20:39But the key point to that is neither can you.
- 1:20:42Right. And also the idea that Russia
- 1:20:44lusts for land. It's land is the one thing
- 1:20:48Russia does not need. Yeah. That's nonsense.
- 1:20:51No, there's no lust for land. Yeah. There's
- 1:20:54the idea that they were lusting, they were
- 1:20:56thirsty for Ukraine. It's nonsense. Or that they
- 1:20:58want to put the band back together. They want
- 1:21:01to put the Soviet Union back together. Which
- 1:21:03they never said. Putin never articulated. They
- 1:21:06were dealing with all the affairs, right? And
- 1:21:08I always say, look he could have gotten several
- 1:21:10of the Central Asian republics back for free.
- 1:21:12The Tajiks would have come back. You
- 1:21:15know they were dying to come back and join the
- 1:21:16band and Putin's, no no thanks. You
- 1:21:19know he could he could have probably had Uzbekistan
- 1:21:22back for free and for a long time until they
- 1:21:25struck oil probably Kazakhstan too. So it's
- 1:21:29Kyrgyzstan for sure. Yeah but that was never the
- 1:21:33objective. They were. They have put so
- 1:21:36much into this propaganda campaign in order to
- 1:21:40justify burning down their countries for this
- 1:21:43fool's errand of them trying to, get
- 1:21:45their hands on Russian resources and change the
- 1:21:47government of Russia, some nonsense. No, the
- 1:21:49reality of it is, as long as nobody touches this,
- 1:21:53we don't touch it. It's that. The moment that
- 1:21:57you touch it, you're now making a threat to us.
- 1:22:00Ukraine was supposed to be neutral, right? The
- 1:22:02same thing. Austria. Austria has a new constitution.
- 1:22:06I know this because my ex is an Austrian. I know
- 1:22:08a little bit about it. They have a no-compete
- 1:22:11or neutrality clause built into it. Austria,
- 1:22:14for the most part, has stayed out of this stuff.
- 1:22:16For the most part, they have their issues. But
- 1:22:19Ukraine changed their constitution in order to
- 1:22:21allow them to, all of a sudden, not be neutral.
- 1:22:24Not to mention the government was overthrown.
- 1:22:26Meaning, anybody that's having a conversation
- 1:22:27with me that said this is a sovereign country,
- 1:22:29it's nonsense. It's patently false. So let's
- 1:22:33be. It's not to think it to himself. The fact that
- 1:22:35he's begging for money for 90 billion dollars
- 1:22:38or whatever he's trying to get because of
- 1:22:40a budget shortfall or for that matter when he's
- 1:22:43the U.S. is not supplying us information about
- 1:22:46missiles coming in. Okay so you don't even know
- 1:22:48when missiles are coming into your country without
- 1:22:50the U.S. You can't even fire air defense without
- 1:22:53the U.S. giving them to you and for that matter
- 1:22:55you can't even attack without the U.S. approving
- 1:22:58your attacks. You're not a sovereign country. Right?
- 1:23:03You're a weapons platform. You're really not.
- 1:23:06Yeah. It's outrageous. And so, and one
- 1:23:09last point, let's add something else to this
- 1:23:11and I want to get your take on. The next president
- 1:23:13may be a Democrat, in which case all of this
- 1:23:16stuff is going to be, but not.
- 1:23:20They can roll back anything that Witkoff and
- 1:23:22Putin agree to. That is true. Yeah. Why would,
- 1:23:28so what exactly do you think is going
- 1:23:32on here? So. Why did Russia let Steve
- 1:23:35why did they let this guy Steve Hubbard
- 1:23:37out? It doesn't hurt them to keep him in.
- 1:23:42He's nearly 80 years old unless he's. Well if
- 1:23:44one or two things. It depends on what he actually
- 1:23:47is. Is this guy with a quote-unquote mercenary
- 1:23:50in the sense of working with the CIA or something
- 1:23:52else than him being a? He's an adventurer. Okay
- 1:23:56and we know that as a flat pack he's an adventurer.
- 1:23:59The reason why I'm skeptical. He fits the profile.
- 1:24:03If you take a picture of him he's
- 1:24:05a slob. He's a mess. He just he doesn't have that
- 1:24:09Blackwater Z vibe. So then there's no
- 1:24:13point in keeping him. He's just superfluous. It's
- 1:24:15just a drain on the state. The issue becomes
- 1:24:18will he come back into the conflict zone? There's
- 1:24:20that or if he was some kind of mercenary
- 1:24:23then killing Russia. Let's put it this way. Look
- 1:24:27at a picture of this guy. If Ukraine needs things,
- 1:24:31if he can turn the course of the war for Ukraine,
- 1:24:34Russia's over. Okay, then just let the guy go.
- 1:24:40He's just a drain on the state. Yeah, yeah, he
- 1:24:43is. That's an easy bargaining chip. Oh, you want
- 1:24:47it back? Yes, Vladimir, I would like them back.
- 1:24:50Okay, okay, Trump, here it is. Here you go. What's
- 1:24:54funny to me, though, is that Donald Trump keeps
- 1:24:56saying Zelensky needs to go. Which is fascinating
- 1:24:59to me. I want my pro-Ukrainian friends to tell
- 1:25:06me, how do you explain this whole weaseling about
- 1:25:09elections? Because we can't have elections because
- 1:25:14of the martial law that I declared and could
- 1:25:17undeclare. This only suits Russia, so you can't
- 1:25:21have elections. I would be willing to have elections,
- 1:25:27Zelensky says, if, Russia were
- 1:25:31to, rub their belly and do the hokey
- 1:25:33pokey and backwards or whatever. Well, I thought
- 1:25:37you couldn't have elections. Oh, well, I could
- 1:25:39if Russia were to do this other thing. Oh, I
- 1:25:43thought you didn't want, Russia to control
- 1:25:45your elections. Oh, well. Putin did say, I'll
- 1:25:49stop on the day that he has the elections, meaning
- 1:25:53I'll stop bombing the day. You have elections.
- 1:25:56Right. You will have a bomb-free election day.
- 1:26:00Right. Unlike our elections. Right. True, true.
- 1:26:07You have elections. The bombs stop. Just real
- 1:26:09quick, y'all. The link that I keep posting in
- 1:26:11the chat, so this is the Q&A section. If y'all
- 1:26:14click that link, y'all can actually call in
- 1:26:16and ask Ted and JT your questions. So it would
- 1:26:19be feed into the chat. We did the link. We just
- 1:26:22do it. Yeah, it is the Q&A. It is the Q&A hour.
- 1:26:26I forgot to announce that. I put up the banner,
- 1:26:28but that is all true. All right. So, yeah, if
- 1:26:32you want to talk, but we'll lay down the rules
- 1:26:36if you do call in, which are basically it's be
- 1:26:39cool and be succinct or be gone. Okay. So what
- 1:26:45do we got here? Okay, questions here. Increase
- 1:26:53Immigrations asks, why do Trump voting males
- 1:26:57love Russia so much? Why do Trump voting males
- 1:27:01love Russia? That's kind of a big supposition.
- 1:27:04Part of it, well, in the beginning, it did seem
- 1:27:08as if Trump was closer to Russia than Joe Biden
- 1:27:11because Joe Biden was a fucking lunatic and the
- 1:27:13Democrats were lunatics. And if you remember,
- 1:27:16I still think that the PSYOP of Russiagate
- 1:27:19being seeded into the community by Hillary Clinton
- 1:27:22dramatically affected the perspective of Democrats
- 1:27:24towards Russia. Granted there's a cold
- 1:27:26war thing so put that into it but Democrats particularly
- 1:27:30have a BNA behind it about Russia in a way that
- 1:27:34it's just unseemly and slightly racist. Yeah it's
- 1:27:41weird. It's just very weird. It's almost
- 1:27:43I'm very angry about this thing that I know nothing
- 1:27:46about. Florence in Michigan, at the end,
- 1:27:49one of her videos to be okay, what is it called?
- 1:27:53I forget the name of the video, but it's a great
- 1:27:55video. At the end of the video, she's, this
- 1:27:59is dedicated to Ukraine. I was, God damn
- 1:28:01it. I was in love with you up until that point.
- 1:28:03I was, God damn it. It's, this is dedicated
- 1:28:06to Ukraine and the fighters and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:28:08And it's true that many of the people that are
- 1:28:10fighting are courageous on both sides. It's,
- 1:28:12it's a work of fate that you end up in a war.
- 1:28:15From the standpoint of the people who
- 1:28:17are fighting in that war, but you're on the wrong
- 1:28:21side of history on that. It's that part. As the
- 1:28:25only person here that's voted for Trump, I can
- 1:28:27tell you all why I've appreciated Russia and
- 1:28:31especially what Putin did. One, I've never been
- 1:28:35there, so I'm looking at this from 6,000 miles
- 1:28:38away, right? The country looks orderly. You can
- 1:28:41walk down the street, not get mugged, shot. The
- 1:28:46cost of living is very affordable there. You
- 1:28:49have a chance to build a future. You have a chance
- 1:28:51to get married and have kids. You have a chance
- 1:28:53to have a life, which is nice. And you're not
- 1:28:58looking to take over the entire freaking planet.
- 1:29:00So from America's first perspective, Russia first,
- 1:29:04what Putin did, is a very attractive model. Raise
- 1:29:08wages. You put in the country first. You make
- 1:29:13it where people are able to afford to live. You're
- 1:29:15able to educate your population. You have to
- 1:29:17import people from Bangladesh to work in your
- 1:29:20tech center. What they do for India.
- 1:29:23Whatever. But that is the appeal. So
- 1:29:28if you want to have a model for what America
- 1:29:30first looks like, look no further than Russia.
- 1:29:33Russia was dead when Putin took over. That is
- 1:29:37not a superpower. It is an economic power. It
- 1:29:40is a military power. You can, you can buy a house
- 1:29:44there. You can have as many kids as you want.
- 1:29:46It's a beautiful thing. Yeah. They welcome it.
- 1:29:49They want you to have kids. They also
- 1:29:52have a very sort of no nonsense, traditional
- 1:29:59gender definitions, right? You're
- 1:30:02not going to see people there's
- 1:30:05people with purple hair. It's
- 1:30:08guys are guys. Girls are girls
- 1:30:12and I think that appeals to conservatives. Yeah
- 1:30:15that too. They use that as a weapon when
- 1:30:18they're attacking Western quote Western civilization
- 1:30:21I quote as being dissolute and. Yeah, it's
- 1:30:26the homosexuality thing or the thing against
- 1:30:29certain groups. They use that as a weapon.
- 1:30:31It's a fascinating weapon, though. I get where
- 1:30:35it's coming from. The United States has this
- 1:30:38idea of pushing culture. Thaddeus is
- 1:30:43right about this. We push culture, whether we
- 1:30:46do intentionally or not. Coca-Cola, women who
- 1:30:49are dancing in little miniskirts at the time,
- 1:30:51this was supposed to be America. Jazz, rock,
- 1:30:53Elvis Presley, right? All of these things rap.
- 1:30:57All of these things are ways of very infectious.
- 1:31:01And people tend to like those things. And rebellious,
- 1:31:06right? Small art rebellious. Even
- 1:31:10art, in the way that art was kind of all
- 1:31:12over the place as opposed to the Soviet art that
- 1:31:15was very worker-centric and that type of stuff.
- 1:31:17But that stuff is very addictive and seductive.
- 1:31:22Even for Americans. Think of,
- 1:31:24just take everything out. Fast food. Fast food
- 1:31:27tastes great, horrible for you. You're going
- 1:31:30to die 20 years younger as a result of eating
- 1:31:31it. No question. And yet, it tastes good. But
- 1:31:35we would say, well, human beings are adults,
- 1:31:37and you should give people the option. And people
- 1:31:39are going to choose wrong. Every single time.
- 1:31:44Yeah, every single time. Or let's say 80% of
- 1:31:48the time. So it's the issue is the choice.
- 1:31:50And yet, the moment that somebody like me would
- 1:31:53be, yeah, but I want my choice. Even though
- 1:31:55I'm going to be wrong. It's with you guys
- 1:31:59giving me a hard time about wanting to ban football
- 1:32:01because of CTE. For the record, what I just said
- 1:32:06about Russia, I have no idea if it's true or
- 1:32:07not. I've never been there. I'm very far away
- 1:32:10looking in. Most of what you said was true. But
- 1:32:15what they're showing, though, is the appeal.
- 1:32:19If you try walking down the street, say, in Baltimore
- 1:32:24at 2 a.m., odds are you might be in for a rough
- 1:32:29night. Odds are you're looking for a rough night.
- 1:32:32If you're walking down the street at 2 a.m.
- 1:32:35in Moscow or St. Petersburg, odds are you'll
- 1:32:38be perfectly fine. Yeah. Having done that, that's
- 1:32:42true. Let's forget about GDP and all these numbers
- 1:32:46don't mean anything. Can the people there afford
- 1:32:49to live? Can they? Can they build a life there?
- 1:32:55If the answer is yes, that's the definition of
- 1:32:58America first. That's what Trump campaigned on.
- 1:33:01Bring the jobs back, put America first, pull
- 1:33:04out of NATO, rebuild our house. That's what the
- 1:33:07man ran on. And that's why so many right wingers
- 1:33:10like me look at Russia and Iran for that matter.
- 1:33:12To be fair. No, Blake, he was watching me on
- 1:33:16the Jeff Dornick show yesterday. And I was talking
- 1:33:19to this lawyer who's a... Republican operative,
- 1:33:23for lack of a better word. And I asked him a
- 1:33:25very simple question. Why is Iran my enemy? He
- 1:33:29doesn't have an answer. That same question is
- 1:33:33valid for Russia. Why is Russia my enemy? They've
- 1:33:35never hurt me. They're not your enemy. They're
- 1:33:37not my enemy at all. They're not any American's
- 1:33:39enemy. We've made them our enemy. And we've made
- 1:33:43them our enemy for the very simple point of the
- 1:33:45same way that a burglar would be an enemy. It's,
- 1:33:49we want stuff that doesn't belong to us
- 1:33:52that belongs to you and in which case when they
- 1:33:55say no we have a hissy fit and we try to use
- 1:33:58proxies in order to destroy the thing that has
- 1:34:01told us no. The same thing with Iran, right?
- 1:34:05It's the idea of we demand you do something
- 1:34:08that as a sovereign nation you shouldn't have
- 1:34:11to do and so now we're going to beat you up. We're
- 1:34:14going to kill you people because you're telling
- 1:34:15us no. Okay that's outrageous and the idea that
- 1:34:19Americans accept that and you would have some
- 1:34:20right-wingers and even some liberals that
- 1:34:23would think that's perfectly okay. America gets
- 1:34:26to do that because we're America. We're somehow
- 1:34:28special. We're somehow exceptional. We are
- 1:34:31Superman or something. None of it's true.
- 1:34:34All of this stuff is purely ideological and yet
- 1:34:38it has real world consequences because of the
- 1:34:40ideology associated with it. No I'm Robby. You're
- 1:34:43right. You're right. And by the way this is not
- 1:34:45an argument domestic from the standpoint of Russia,
- 1:34:48because I don't live there, right? It's an international
- 1:34:51standpoint or point of view where Putin is defending
- 1:34:54his territory. It's just that. And it blows my
- 1:34:59mind that people can't necessarily see that,
- 1:35:02right? That's a Russia-first point of view.
- 1:35:04It blows my mind, too. Yeah. We never,
- 1:35:09whether it's Saddam Hussein or Muammar Gaddafi,
- 1:35:12all of these opponents of the United States,
- 1:35:15they were, they're all just people, they're leaders
- 1:35:20trying to defend their countries from American
- 1:35:22hegemony. That's all. And you can, did Saddam have torture prisons?
- 1:35:29Yeah. Was he always a great guy? No. But it's
- 1:35:33things are, but that's sort of neither here
- 1:35:35nor there. Is it our business? Also no. No. Yeah.
- 1:35:39Somehow they think, well, he's a bad guy. And
- 1:35:44it's the moment they make the argument that
- 1:35:45he's a bad guy, somehow it justifies anything
- 1:35:47at all. That argument, that's exactly it. The
- 1:35:49argument is, it's basically, yeah, because
- 1:35:51here's the logic. The logic is, you said,
- 1:35:54oh, here's this country, XYZistan. I want it.
- 1:35:59It has things that I want, that I covet. So now
- 1:36:02I'm going to say, oh, the government of that
- 1:36:03country is bad. And therefore... But that's a
- 1:36:07pretext. I'm not attacking them because their
- 1:36:10government. Let's just say their government is
- 1:36:12bad. I'm not attacking them because their
- 1:36:14government is bad. Because if I always
- 1:36:16if I were if that were the real reason, then
- 1:36:19I would attack all countries whose governments
- 1:36:22were really, really bad. And I don't. Right.
- 1:36:26We there's in fact, I make alliances with
- 1:36:29many countries that have really bad governments.
- 1:36:32I prop up really bad governments. So it's not,
- 1:36:36that's not the reason, and it's,
- 1:36:38but people follow it. My mom was a good lefty.
- 1:36:42She fell for the Iraq thing, but Saddam was evil.
- 1:36:46Yeah, he's evil, but that's not why the U.S.
- 1:36:49wants to invade Iraq. Right. That's amazing that
- 1:36:52your mom fell for that. It's just,
- 1:36:54it's outrageous. Maduro, really good example.
- 1:36:58He's a bad guy. Okay? But he's a real bad guy.
- 1:37:02And so now, when we invade or overthrow the country
- 1:37:05it's, well he was a bad guy. So what the he
- 1:37:09was a bad guy. Maybe whether he was or not
- 1:37:11is irrelevant to the point that you've just destroyed
- 1:37:14and attacked the country and we're not. Let's
- 1:37:16just say we were. We're not really in the business
- 1:37:18of getting together every morning in and
- 1:37:21saying hey who are the worst governments in the
- 1:37:23world. We think that sucks. We're strong
- 1:37:26enough to overthrow them so let's go for that.
- 1:37:28We don't. That's not our foreign policy. I'm not
- 1:37:31saying it ought to be but it's not. I have a question
- 1:37:34JT. Act like it is. So so these people are telling
- 1:37:37you that Maduro is a bad guy. Are these people
- 1:37:40I'm going to assume with your circle they're
- 1:37:42probably anti-Zionists and probably don't support
- 1:37:45the genocide happening in Gaza but would that
- 1:37:47be accurate? Well no I'm saying the media
- 1:37:49accepts the argument Maduro's a bad guy and so
- 1:37:53the media doesn't have a hissy fit when the United
- 1:37:55States attacks Venezuela. Yeah no I get it but
- 1:37:57here's the crazy part. These people
- 1:37:59are missing. Okay Maduro's a bad guy. He never
- 1:38:03committed a genocide. So who's the worst guy,
- 1:38:07Netanyahu? That's my argument. Or is it Maduro?
- 1:38:09If we were in the business of going after bad
- 1:38:11guys, we would overthrow Benjamin Netanyahu.
- 1:38:15We certainly wouldn't be propping him up, which
- 1:38:17is what we're doing. Demona would cease to exist
- 1:38:20tomorrow, and Israel would no longer be a nuclear
- 1:38:22state. Matter of fact, it would probably, under
- 1:38:24a West administration, not exist anymore at all.
- 1:38:27That's just me. But I'm a bad guy. I'm
- 1:38:29going to have to be removed. Oh, I have no idea,
- 1:38:32no issue with Israel not existing. Why do I care?
- 1:38:36But honestly, why do I care if it exists? In
- 1:38:38fact, I will make the argument that the psychos...
- 1:38:42No, they have lost their... Look, what's so funny
- 1:38:46is it's sort of, well, now that you mentioned
- 1:38:48it, since you guys, you Zionists, have brought
- 1:38:50up this whole right to exist argument... something
- 1:38:53that I hadn't given any thought to but
- 1:38:55now that you've brought it up. Now if any country
- 1:38:58doesn't have a right to exist Israel is one of
- 1:39:01them now that you mentioned it. Now that you pointed
- 1:39:06yeah this is kind of how gay marriage happened
- 1:39:08right? Originally gays didn't want to
- 1:39:11get married and it was the right kept arguing
- 1:39:14oh if we give them if we give gays rights
- 1:39:17eventually they'll want to get married and at
- 1:39:19some point in the 80s gays were
- 1:39:22now that you guys mention it that might
- 1:39:25be a good idea. Yeah thanks for bringing that
- 1:39:27up right? That's exactly how that went up. I got
- 1:39:32married in Iceland. Israel was the first place
- 1:39:33that allowed gay marriage. I think it was Iceland.
- 1:39:35France would the first two. I think I thought
- 1:39:38the whole point of being gay was that you didn't
- 1:39:39have to get married. There'd be no pressure right?
- 1:39:41Oh we've been together now
- 1:39:44for a while. Don't you think we should get married?
- 1:39:47And if you were gay you'd be, well we're
- 1:39:50gay. So we're oppressed by the state. So we can't.
- 1:39:54Oh, well. But now they wanted the white picket
- 1:39:59fence and the adjustable rate mortgage and the
- 1:40:03whole thing. I'm gay for the reason of not having
- 1:40:06to get married. No, that's funny. No, it's wow.
- 1:40:11I don't know, man. It's just fucked up.
- 1:40:13When they went after Saddam Hussein, when they
- 1:40:15went after all of those people. And my thing
- 1:40:17was kind of at a certain point, I was, wait
- 1:40:18a minute. What does he have to be a bad guy have
- 1:40:20to do with us killing people? It's none of our
- 1:40:24business. It's none of our business. And then
- 1:40:26it's you're acting these are humanitarian
- 1:40:27bombs. And also it's not true. We don't care.
- 1:40:30We don't care. Yep. Yeah. And then we invade
- 1:40:34Iraq and then set up our own torture prisons
- 1:40:36in Saddam Hussein's old torture prisons. Yep.
- 1:40:40But those are okay torture prisons because they're
- 1:40:42ours. We like our monsters. We're okay with
- 1:40:44our monsters. Yeah, that's one of my favorite,
- 1:40:47how you do your own thing and sometimes
- 1:40:48you do a show or whatever. You're,
- 1:40:50oh, I did a really good show. Even if nobody
- 1:40:52else appreciated it. I did a cartoon like that
- 1:40:54where every time I look at it, I'm, it makes
- 1:40:56me giggle. It's, Obama's new and
- 1:40:59improved. It was Guantanamo under new management,
- 1:41:04under Obama. And it's showing a guy
- 1:41:07getting waterboarded with Perrier. I'm curious,
- 1:41:11do your liberal friends, when you do cartoons
- 1:41:13like that, do they get pissed off at you? It's,
- 1:41:14you're unnoticed. Oh my God, they hate
- 1:41:16it. I lost so many liberal friends permanently
- 1:41:18over criticizing Obama. And I was, you had
- 1:41:22no problem with me going after Bush the
- 1:41:25day was long. Why the fuck would you,
- 1:41:28I'm a political cartoonist. There's
- 1:41:30no. I guess if we ever got
- 1:41:32a great president I might not be as critical.
- 1:41:36I can't imagine that happening under the system
- 1:41:38but that's the job, right? Oh that's funny. That's
- 1:41:43funny. Anyway. Some more comments here. 25th
- 1:41:46psychonaut says the liberal argument is that
- 1:41:49Ukraine was promised that if they forfeited their
- 1:41:52nuclear weapons, the U.S. would protect them
- 1:41:54from Russian invasion. But I honestly agree with
- 1:41:57your position, Ted. Yeah, that was a liberal
- 1:42:00argument that they said. That Budapest, what
- 1:42:03is its name? I think it's the Budapest Memorandum.
- 1:42:08Yeah, that's right. That doesn't really apply
- 1:42:09though. That wasn't for Minsk. Yeah, that doesn't
- 1:42:11really apply. A couple of points. One, those
- 1:42:16missiles didn't belong to Ukraine. That's true.
- 1:42:19Meaning those were Russian. They were Soviet,
- 1:42:22yeah. They were always operated out of Moscow.
- 1:42:25They weren't, even if Ukraine kept them, they
- 1:42:27couldn't use them. They wouldn't even know how
- 1:42:30to use them. They would have just rotted away
- 1:42:32in their silos. Yeah, so there's that. They weren't
- 1:42:36Ukrainian missiles. Two, the government of Ukraine
- 1:42:40was overthrown. So if there was a threat from
- 1:42:43anybody, it was coming out of the U.S. and out
- 1:42:46of Europe, not out of Russia. It was the overthrow,
- 1:42:49the smashing of the state. So if you're talking
- 1:42:52to anybody on that, you have to deal with the
- 1:42:53fact that the U.S. overthrew the state of Ukraine.
- 1:42:56Yeah, even if the state, look, there
- 1:42:58was obviously a real indigenous portion of the
- 1:43:02Maidan uprising, right? That that was legitimate.
- 1:43:05But once the U.S. decided to put their thumb
- 1:43:08on the scale, that queers the whole deal and
- 1:43:10it's no longer authentic. Well assistance
- 1:43:14training they were getting more violent. Weapons
- 1:43:17were probably being brought into the place. The
- 1:43:19CIA had been involved in Ukraine by their
- 1:43:21own admission. They recruited and the CIA recruited
- 1:43:23the Nazis too the Right Sector and all that
- 1:43:26stuff. Yeah I'm trying to make the point
- 1:43:28of saying this wasn't a situation where there
- 1:43:30was an organic uprising etc. That wasn't it. This
- 1:43:34was a violent overthrow of the state that they
- 1:43:36called this kind of Dignity Revolution.
- 1:43:39Okay sure. Just because Victoria Nuland was tapped,
- 1:43:44picking who is going to be the Minister of Transport
- 1:43:48in the new government, it's not the U.S.
- 1:43:50is pulling all the strings. She's on the phone
- 1:43:54with Jeffrey Pyatt talking about who they're
- 1:43:56going to put in office. Unbelievable. We're going
- 1:43:58to midwife this thing. And all of a sudden, boom,
- 1:44:02it blows up. Yanukovych didn't accept the deal
- 1:44:05that the European Union wanted, in which case
- 1:44:07it goes the pot. This is, that's
- 1:44:12their argument, but the argument doesn't look
- 1:44:13quite flat. I ended up getting to fight with
- 1:44:15my ex about this particular point, too. She Googled
- 1:44:17the memorandum, Budapest memorandum, and couldn't,
- 1:44:23could not accept the premise of, it wasn't their
- 1:44:27missiles, and the government was smashed. This
- 1:44:30is not, this is not, and by the
- 1:44:33way, the U.S. didn't commit itself to fighting
- 1:44:35for Ukraine. There's that, too. Meaning
- 1:44:37none of these countries said we will come to
- 1:44:39fight for you Article 5 if indeed anything
- 1:44:41happens to the country. We didn't have that kind
- 1:44:43of relationship with them. No. And the U.S.
- 1:44:46wanted to get rid of those things themselves
- 1:44:48just because Ukraine was radically corrupt. But
- 1:44:50people don't understand how the American system
- 1:44:54of government works. A treaty has to be ratified
- 1:44:57by the Senate. That's why y'all were
- 1:45:02talking about earlier. There's no treaty at all.
- 1:45:06It doesn't exist. There's not even an unratified
- 1:45:09treaty that the president. It's the Budapest
- 1:45:13memorandum. Yeah, it is. There was no agreement.
- 1:45:16It's got all the power of an executive order.
- 1:45:19It's got nothing. It's nothing. It's just paper.
- 1:45:21Exactly. It means nothing. And that's one of
- 1:45:23the reasons why I keep saying, I've said on this
- 1:45:25show and on other ones, Iran and Russia both,
- 1:45:28if they are smart, but they want to, it's time
- 1:45:31to put these wars to bed. They will insist that
- 1:45:34it be a treaty that make its way through the
- 1:45:36Senate. So that way, a president in the future
- 1:45:39cannot just go as a nevermind psych. Do it the
- 1:45:44legal way. So Piano Man said they loved President
- 1:45:50Putin till he put a stop to Western exploitation
- 1:45:53of Russia, which was going on in the 90s and
- 1:45:56early 2000s. After putting a stop to their party,
- 1:45:59they now hate him. And that's true. The
- 1:46:02people like my... publisher who fired me at the
- 1:46:07LA Times. He made all this money in the ashes
- 1:46:09of the former Soviet Union in the early 90s.
- 1:46:11They were raping and pillaging over there. Starting
- 1:46:16with Gorbachev and then moving... I thought about
- 1:46:19what we talked about the other day. Fuck that
- 1:46:21guy. Really fuck that guy. When I was reading
- 1:46:24a book about the collapse and how he just seemed
- 1:46:26to be out of fucking touch. Deng Xiaoping apparently
- 1:46:31met Gorbachev at one point. And after the conversation,
- 1:46:34he left. It's he is out of his mind. And
- 1:46:37I get this emancipatory politics. I get it, right?
- 1:46:42Where it's you want these big ideas, these
- 1:46:45hopeful ideas, the things that you want to accomplish.
- 1:46:48But God, man, that stuff has to be done between
- 1:46:50the lines. And I don't know what that looks like
- 1:46:53in real life in regards to between the lines.
- 1:46:54It's going to look like different things depending
- 1:46:56upon the situation. But just because you want
- 1:46:59a federalized system doesn't mean that you're
- 1:47:02going to unravel a system that has been that
- 1:47:05authoritarian, built by Stalin, you could say,
- 1:47:09and just let your hands off the wheels and expect
- 1:47:11everything is going to work out right. The Americans
- 1:47:13are going to treat us fairly. Everything is going
- 1:47:15to be roses and wet. It's not going to work that
- 1:47:18way. It's not going to work that way. It's
- 1:47:21him being hopeful is a part of him that I admire
- 1:47:24because he was willing to be hopeful even in
- 1:47:26the context of headwinds of people saying you
- 1:47:29can't do it. But the people who told him he can't
- 1:47:30do it were probably right. They were just probably
- 1:47:33right. I don't know what to go with that.
- 1:47:35Do you think it would have been possible
- 1:47:37to federalize that system somehow if you had
- 1:47:39a more savvy politician as opposed to Gorbachev
- 1:47:42who seemed to be enamored with himself?
- 1:47:48I think that events caught up with Gorbachev
- 1:47:50and things moved faster than he expected. And
- 1:47:56then it just sort of seemed at a certain point,
- 1:47:58I think that his whole idea that he
- 1:48:00found out reforming was hard. And he was,
- 1:48:05oh, man, finally, it was it was suggested
- 1:48:07to him. Maybe he should just close up shop. Obviously,
- 1:48:10it was suggested to him by people who were being
- 1:48:12paid by the Americans. They didn't have to shut
- 1:48:16up, close down shop. The Soviet Union
- 1:48:19had massive natural
- 1:48:22resources. It had massive. It was an under-exploited
- 1:48:27regime in terms of its economy.
- 1:48:31There's it was completely viable. There was
- 1:48:34no reason for it to shut down and
- 1:48:37part of me wonders if he was an agent of
- 1:48:41the CIA secretly. Something. He just seemed
- 1:48:47or he was just tired. Well, they were... No,
- 1:48:50he didn't seem tired. In reading the book,
- 1:48:53he seemed to be glamorous. Meaning into
- 1:48:57this kind of glamorous life of thought. Oh, yeah.
- 1:48:59Meaning how he started and how he became.
- 1:49:01He seemed to get more enamored by the fact that
- 1:49:04he was talking to world leaders. And he was having
- 1:49:07these conversations. And he was on magazines
- 1:49:09and TV and blah, blah, blah. And they were sucking
- 1:49:11up to him. Just Zelensky, kind of, right?
- 1:49:13Yeah it just seemed he was living the life
- 1:49:16at a certain point and he still had this idea
- 1:49:18of I want to federalize the system. I got
- 1:49:21to be honest with you the perestroika for example
- 1:49:24we should have that here and I think people
- 1:49:27will be shocked and horrified when those files
- 1:49:29are released at the that the United States was
- 1:49:31doing. We probably don't. We obviously don't know
- 1:49:33half of it, right? And when he's releasing the
- 1:49:36files and people are looking at it and they're
- 1:49:37shocked and horrified by what the Soviet Union
- 1:49:40have been doing and I remember he made the
- 1:49:43point of saying America needs its own prayer
- 1:49:45strip. America needs its own wake-up call
- 1:49:48where it sees what the government has been doing.
- 1:49:51We won't find that out until this government
- 1:49:53collapses. Yeah, I remember when East Germany
- 1:49:55collapsed, the DDR collapsed, and the offices
- 1:49:58of the Stasi were opened, and people were going
- 1:50:02into these and finding their own files. It's,
- 1:50:05wait, holy shit, my spouse was spying on
- 1:50:09me and stuff like that. I think we will be. Can
- 1:50:12you imagine the that we would find in our files
- 1:50:14in Washington? I know that's my point. Meaning
- 1:50:19that's a horrification process where the public
- 1:50:21looks at that what their government is doing
- 1:50:23but it's also a wake-up call and that wake-up
- 1:50:26call I think is necessary. Now the catch becomes
- 1:50:28how do you do that without everything falling
- 1:50:31apart? Right? Look, Putin called the collapse
- 1:50:38of the Soviet Union one of the great disasters
- 1:50:39of the 20th century. And he's right. That's true.
- 1:50:43And in a material way, you're
- 1:50:47talking about, I visited in 1997 in the
- 1:50:51post-Soviet era, and it was a catastrophe. And
- 1:50:55almost, everyone over 60 died of famine
- 1:50:59during that period. Millions of Russians and other
- 1:51:02so former Soviet citizens died. The Americans
- 1:51:06seduced them. Please become
- 1:51:09capitalist. We'll help you out and then it was
- 1:51:11we did not help them at all and it was catastrophic
- 1:51:16and it was a catastrophe for the United States
- 1:51:20too because we went. We bought into the whole
- 1:51:22Francis Fukuyama end of history argument.
- 1:51:25Well capitalism has won now and forever. There's
- 1:51:28only one economics and political system that
- 1:51:31is going to work. And so there was no urge.
- 1:51:35Think about the pressure. Do you think
- 1:51:37the New Deal and the Great Society and all of
- 1:51:40these liberal reforms that, made it
- 1:51:45so that, old people didn't have to
- 1:51:46live on cat food and eat out of dumpsters in
- 1:51:50the United States in the 20th century. Do you
- 1:51:52think any of them would have happened if not
- 1:51:54for the pressure, the existence of the alternative
- 1:51:56socialist system that was embodied by the Soviet
- 1:51:59Union? There's no way. So, and that's
- 1:52:03part of the reason that things have gone to shit
- 1:52:05in the US is because there's no USSR anymore
- 1:52:08to compete with it. Yeah, there's no, yeah, right.
- 1:52:11There's no competition. If competition strengthens
- 1:52:17a product, and I think it does, then that's true
- 1:52:22in the marketplace of ideas as well. If American
- 1:52:25car makers had to deal with Chinese cars, either
- 1:52:29the market would be destroyed or you have better
- 1:52:31cars coming out of America. The fact that it's
- 1:52:33in a bubble makes them fat and lazy. I think
- 1:52:36the same thing is true for this. I agree with
- 1:52:38you wholeheartedly. I agree. One last. One last
- 1:52:44thing. Not a big deal, but it is a big deal,
- 1:52:47obviously, for the people involved. Cohen Wiley
- 1:52:52was a one-year-old baby who was shot to death
- 1:52:55by a Mississippi police officer who fired into
- 1:52:58a car. We've had several of these incidents,
- 1:53:01right? Renee Good fired into a car. Whether it's
- 1:53:07ICE or it's the cops, there's a lot of these
- 1:53:10incidents recently. Not just recently. It's
- 1:53:15every now and then. It's cops
- 1:53:16firing into a car. Should there be a rule sort
- 1:53:20of how LA put a rule about no more
- 1:53:23high-speed chases through civilian neighborhoods.
- 1:53:25We just won't do that. Should
- 1:53:28there be a rule? You don't just shoot into
- 1:53:30a car unless you could. Unless
- 1:53:34you are. Unless they're shooting from the car
- 1:53:39at the cops. The cops should not be firing at
- 1:53:43anyone in the car. Yeah yeah agreed.
- 1:53:47These blind shots. It's just outrageous.
- 1:53:53When you when you see a situation where it's
- 1:53:54the cop fires. It's one thing if somebody's
- 1:53:58shooting at you. I get it, right? But if you don't
- 1:54:01know who's in the car how do you know there's
- 1:54:04not a baby in the car or how do you know there's
- 1:54:07not a kid in the car? What was that? There was
- 1:54:09a recent story that we did where. Didn't they
- 1:54:11shoot into the car? They did something into the
- 1:54:13car? Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the Bronx. Yeah. And
- 1:54:17it was a kid in the car. I think it was
- 1:54:19the ICE agent. ICE shot into the car. And they
- 1:54:23claimed that, the guy was weaponizing
- 1:54:26his vehicle. In reality, he was trying to leave
- 1:54:29because he thought he was being attacked by random
- 1:54:31thugs. And they jumped in front of him. He was.
- 1:54:35And then the ICE guys jumped in front of the
- 1:54:39car to try to stop him. And they lost, and they
- 1:54:42got scared, and they shot him. After jumping
- 1:54:45into one of the cars and putting themselves in
- 1:54:47danger. Uh-huh. Fucking great cars. What was
- 1:54:51it? Trayvon Martin, right? Where the guy's stalking
- 1:54:55him. Random guy. Right. Stalking him. Gets into
- 1:54:59a fight. Self-appointed community watch. Yeah.
- 1:55:02Gets his ass kicked. And then pulls out a gun.
- 1:55:04And shoots and kills the kid. Right. And you're
- 1:55:07sitting there, wait a minute, how does this
- 1:55:09work? So I can literally stalk somebody. I can
- 1:55:12get into a fight with somebody, meaning I can
- 1:55:14stalk, start a fight, lose a fight, and then
- 1:55:17say self-defense. Really, you can do that? Yeah,
- 1:55:21where's the self-defense when you started the
- 1:55:23fight? The cops told him to go home. And it's,
- 1:55:27you're talking about doing a case where
- 1:55:29you intentionally lose the case? The prosecution
- 1:55:33didn't even push that case. I'm sorry. It's crazy.
- 1:55:35Well, in the situation in Mississippi, I thought
- 1:55:39it was interesting that the attorney general
- 1:55:41said well this is justified for us but there's
- 1:55:43no report. It literally is just a sentence
- 1:55:47yeah we feel it was justified for us.
- 1:55:50You didn't do a report. You didn't say this happened
- 1:55:53that happened. This is why we think it's okay.
- 1:55:54Here's what the vid. Here's what the cam footage
- 1:55:57showed. Oh so they haven't released the camera
- 1:56:00footage yet either. No, there is. They have not
- 1:56:04released the official body cam footage, but there
- 1:56:07was surveillance video that surfaced that didn't
- 1:56:10seem to completely belie the cop's story. Maybe
- 1:56:13the baby had a gun. Maybe the baby tried to get
- 1:56:16the cop. True. True. He's a terrorist with Al-
- 1:56:21Qaeda. Right. Right. Maybe the baby was a terrorist.
- 1:56:25Maybe the baby was threatening. Who knows? I'm
- 1:56:27surprised the cop didn't say, look, the baby
- 1:56:29was very threatening to me. I was terrified.
- 1:56:31Yeah I didn't like the looks of him. Oh that's
- 1:56:33one of the arguments that they made. Remember
- 1:56:35with Tamir Rice they said oh he was
- 1:56:38nine years old and they said well I thought he
- 1:56:41was older because he was tall for his age. 10
- 1:56:45seconds. So so as let's just say that
- 1:56:49as a guy who's six two I take offense to the
- 1:56:52idea that the taller you are the more justified
- 1:56:54it is to shoot you, right? That child looked threatening
- 1:56:59to me. Okay. Okay. That baby was threatened. Yeah.
- 1:57:04I was very curious on whether they had body cam
- 1:57:06footage. Look, it also, I can't help,
- 1:57:09but think it's Mississippi. It's the South. You
- 1:57:12know, they think, well, if we're going to
- 1:57:13kill people, the cops can do what they
- 1:57:15want. We don't owe any explanations to anyone.
- 1:57:18And that's just really not the world we live
- 1:57:20in anymore. Thank God. That is, I believe
- 1:57:25this was a black child. I'm not sure about that.
- 1:57:28Let me see if I can see find a picture. I could
- 1:57:32totally be wrong but it's. Yeah but when it's
- 1:57:36Mississippi you do. It's a black. Yeah I have a
- 1:57:39photo. It's a adorable black child. Yeah and what
- 1:57:43was the excuse that the driver was trying to
- 1:57:45run away? Yeah that's it. And so what if he was?
- 1:57:49So that's they claim that. They always claim that
- 1:57:55it's never true. It's never true. You shouldn't
- 1:57:59be shooting in the cars blindly. And you shouldn't
- 1:58:01be stepping into the way of a car to put yourself
- 1:58:03in danger and then scream that I had to shoot
- 1:58:05him because I was terrified and in danger because
- 1:58:07he tried to hit me. They need to cut that shit
- 1:58:09out. I hate it when they do that. You can see
- 1:58:10it on videos when they do it. They would step
- 1:58:12in front of a car. And then when the car looks
- 1:58:14it's about to hit him, it was, oh my
- 1:58:16God, I got to shoot. Don't step in front of the
- 1:58:19car. Self-fulfilling bullshit. All right. That's
- 1:58:24it for today's show. Always a pleasure. We will
- 1:58:28be back tomorrow, but it'll be a prerecord of
- 1:58:32an interview with Thaddeus Russell, who's the
- 1:58:36author of Savior and Seducer, How America Deals
- 1:58:43with the World. Would you hate it if I grabbed
- 1:58:45him for my show? I would love to talk to him.
- 1:58:47Not at all. Grab him. Okay. Did you submit his
- 1:58:50information? I only had the chance. Will do.
- 1:58:53He was fantastic. And Robby had a good interaction
- 1:58:56with him too. And then TMI show will be live
- 1:59:00tomorrow at 10 o'clock Eastern time. So we'll
- 1:59:04see you then. And thanks everyone for joining.
- 1:59:07Continue to like, follow, and share. And see
- 1:59:11you later. Ciao. Have a good one, guys. Bye-bye.
- 1:59:13Bye.
