- 0:14Speaker 1: Suppo.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Alright, here we go. Happy Monday lashes by optical expressions.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Stain on the shirt courtesy of myself, little coffee spill
- 2:01Speaker 2: this morning. Actually, I'd like to maybe redirect the blame
- 2:09Speaker 2: for that to Berry Cities potholes if I may, which
- 2:19Speaker 2: were I would say eighty percent responsible for the stain
- 2:25Speaker 2: on the on the shirt this morning, the coffee stain
- 2:29Speaker 2: hat Buy Wildcats. I'm ready to go. I don't know
- 2:34Speaker 2: about you, but I'm looking forward to the work week.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I see that Stacy Holden is joining us from way.
- 2:41Speaker 2: The hell is Fort Pierce down there in Florida? What's
- 2:45Speaker 2: going on with the mosquitoes down there? And in Florida?
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'm hearing that mosquitos in Florida making the national news
- 2:53Speaker 2: right now because of the drought. This is my understanding.
- 2:58Speaker 2: The mosquitoes, they lay the eggs in the soil, but
- 3:02Speaker 2: they need water to kind of kick into gear. I
- 3:06Speaker 2: don't know what the hell's going on in Florida, but
- 3:08Speaker 2: there's like the mosquito population is out of control. The
- 3:13Speaker 2: Odyssey haven't seen it, but I'm seeing this morning that
- 3:19Speaker 2: it is earned. Get this number, one hundred and twenty
- 3:24Speaker 2: four point five million dollars at the box office in
- 3:30Speaker 2: its debut, third best opening weekend this year after Toy
- 3:35Speaker 2: Story five. That's a lot of that's a lot of money.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Not interested, and I don't I'm going to piss off
- 3:43Speaker 2: a few people by saying that, especially Jet, that I'm
- 3:46Speaker 2: not interested in the Odyssey. Don't care, no interest in
- 3:50Speaker 2: seeing that movie whatsoever. Boy, we have a lot going
- 3:55Speaker 2: on this morning. The Connecticut Valley Little League has advanced
- 4:02Speaker 2: to the finals. We're talking about girl softball here, big deal,
- 4:08Speaker 2: you bet. And we're gonna be chatting with the coach
- 4:14Speaker 2: this morning right here on the aired out podcast. Shout
- 4:16Speaker 2: out to you Fecto Holmes this morning as we start
- 4:20Speaker 2: up the work week, keep this in mind. If you're
- 4:22Speaker 2: sitting around dreaming about a new home, make Fecto Holmes
- 4:28Speaker 2: part of that dream. Doing this since the seventies, getting
- 4:31Speaker 2: Vermonters into their favorite dream homes for a long time
- 4:38Speaker 2: with incredible views. Many of them, I would say, most
- 4:41Speaker 2: of the time. They'll do it all site work, planning, financing,
- 4:49Speaker 2: even do trade ins, modular, double wide, single wide, you
- 4:54Speaker 2: name it. Get over to Fecto Homes this week and
- 4:58Speaker 2: make them part of your dream into getting a new home.
- 5:02Speaker 2: You'd probably be real surprised how easy it is to
- 5:06Speaker 2: get things going. Glad to see Brumberts back in action.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Not sure where the hell he's been, But that's nice
- 5:15Speaker 2: weekend recap it was. It was a wild weekend for
- 5:21Speaker 2: this old fella. And I'll be honest with you, I
- 5:24Speaker 2: needed an extra an extra dose of caffeine this morning.
- 5:29Speaker 2: It was NonStop. The older that I get, the more
- 5:36Speaker 2: that I feel it. I'm embracing this. I accept this
- 5:42Speaker 2: that the joints are going to be a little stiffer,
- 5:46Speaker 2: especially when you've been in the car for a couple
- 5:48Speaker 2: of hours and you get out. When you step out,
- 5:51Speaker 2: it takes you, you know, good five to ten minutes
- 5:54Speaker 2: to just stand there and get your your knees stable
- 5:59Speaker 2: underneath before you start taking a walk across the parking lot.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Barrass the hell out as Gerlyn, I know. I hope
- 6:10Speaker 2: it was a good weekend for you. I like to
- 6:14Speaker 2: start out Mondays with a shout out to our first
- 6:17Speaker 2: responders are law enforcement, not just local law enforcement, but
- 6:23Speaker 2: first responders in law enforcement everywhere everywhere. They bust their asses.
- 6:30Speaker 2: They work hard. When it's sunny and beautiful and you're
- 6:34Speaker 2: out in the lake or at your camp or whatever
- 6:37Speaker 2: you're doing, even just mowing your lawn, doing something for yourself.
- 6:41Speaker 2: They're out busting their butts, taking good care of us,
- 6:47Speaker 2: in helping us oftentimes when we make real foolish, stupid decisions,
- 6:54Speaker 2: whether it's driving too fast, whatever it may be. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: want to thank our local first responders everywhere. Actually, it's
- 7:07Speaker 2: gonna be a great week. It's gonna be a super
- 7:10Speaker 2: week here at aired Out. We weren't on the air
- 7:14Speaker 2: this past Friday. I'm gonna let Logan loose explain to
- 7:19Speaker 2: you why when he comes on, I'm putting I'm putting
- 7:24Speaker 2: it all on Logan. But yeah, it's gonna be a
- 7:28Speaker 2: great week. Bob Dunkle is gonna be with me tomorrow morning.
- 7:33Speaker 2: He's running as a Republican candidate for the Vermont House
- 7:37Speaker 2: in the Windsor Orange District, which includes includes Royalton and Tunbridge.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to my chat with him. It is
- 7:49Speaker 2: gonna be a very candid chat and we're gonna be
- 7:52Speaker 2: talking about some some real issues here in Vermont. And
- 7:56Speaker 2: his idea is this guy's very outspoken and I I
- 8:00Speaker 2: appreciate that very much. Wednesday, Randy Rayner from the Vermont
- 8:06Speaker 2: Agency is going to be with me Sweethearts in Heroes Day,
- 8:09Speaker 2: right here on the couch in the studio. Thursday is
- 8:15Speaker 2: going to be a special edition of g He's coming
- 8:19Speaker 2: in Thursday. We'll explain to you why when he's on
- 8:23Speaker 2: the air Thursday, maybe before then, but probably not show
- 8:29Speaker 2: of hands. Right now, who's loving The temperatures in Central
- 8:34Speaker 2: Vermont sixty degrees right now, sixty in Barry, Mostly sunny
- 8:42Speaker 2: skies today, still some areas of smoke in haze possible
- 8:48Speaker 2: across New England. Eighty degrees for most of us in
- 8:52Speaker 2: Central Vermont today, Tonight, partly cloudy in sixty Tuesday tomorrow
- 8:58Speaker 2: cloudy on and off showers seventy seven for the daytime high.
- 9:04Speaker 2: And I know some of you are here in these
- 9:07Speaker 2: temperatures in the seventies and you're like, oh my god,
- 9:10Speaker 2: summer's over. It's not hang tight.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Now.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I just thought of something I need to get off
- 9:21Speaker 2: my chest. I'll do that in a second. Let's see Thursday,
- 9:26Speaker 2: mix of sun and clouds seventy five looks great. Wednesday,
- 9:30Speaker 2: as I said, the showers on and off in the
- 9:34Speaker 2: morning and then partly cloudy skies, highs in the upper
- 9:37Speaker 2: seventies again, Courier Park, the Farmer's Market, the food trucks,
- 9:42Speaker 2: the concert on Wednesday. It's perfect Thursday, partly sunny, sun
- 9:49Speaker 2: and clouds, both in the mix. Seventy five already said that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Then Thursday night racing at thunder Road. Hang on, Becky,
- 9:56Speaker 2: sit down, it's gonna be okay, fifty two degrees. Pack
- 10:04Speaker 2: a sweatshirt, Becky. But yeah, it's nice, stars will be out.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Racing is gonna be on for Thursday night, unless you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: unless it's Bertha. Whatever the hell she is, a tropical
- 10:17Speaker 2: depression or whatever it starts moving into New England, It's
- 10:21Speaker 2: not gonna happen. She's big, but she's not that big.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Why would we name a tropical depression Bertha when Bertha
- 10:35Speaker 2: is not that big. Normally when we hear the word Bertha,
- 10:38Speaker 2: we put the word big in front of it. Big Bertha,
- 10:43Speaker 2: She's not that big. Birthdays today. This guy was yesterday,
- 10:50Speaker 2: but he's a good buddy of mine. I want to
- 10:52Speaker 2: give a shout out to him. Patrick Willis celebrated one yesterday.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Happy birthday, buddy. David Danforth Junior on the list today.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Diane Duquette Hood everybody knows. Diane, make sure you tell
- 11:10Speaker 2: her that we were talking smack about her on aired out.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's a great lady. I'll just I'll just go go
- 11:21Speaker 2: off this morning by saying there was a day and
- 11:24Speaker 2: I know Diane remembers this well where I did some
- 11:31Speaker 2: jazzer size with her I think one time, and this
- 11:35Speaker 2: was a few years back. Yeah. I know, when you
- 11:40Speaker 2: hear the words jazzer size and JD. Green, that's not
- 11:45Speaker 2: a good mix for a lot of different reasons. But
- 11:50Speaker 2: I did it and I survived barely. But anyway, Anne
- 11:57Speaker 2: Cummings also on the list today. Look at this Elizabeth Manfield,
- 12:01Speaker 2: Julie Tatrow, Alison Pelke, Pam Cooley, t Low, Happy birthday,
- 12:06Speaker 2: Corey Graves, Alex Ball one of my favorites of all time.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And I just saw him in concert a couple of
- 12:15Speaker 2: weeks ago thanks to Sherilyn my Father's Day present. Carlos
- 12:21Speaker 2: Santana seventy nine years old today, sat for most of
- 12:29Speaker 2: the concert, I know, in a red velvet chair. He
- 12:36Speaker 2: is the King. It was amazing. Really, Kim Carnes, you
- 12:42Speaker 2: remember Betty Davis eyes, of course you do. Eighty one
- 12:46Speaker 2: years old today. Kim Carnes. I remember, do you the
- 12:51Speaker 2: MTV video of Betty Davis eyes and I was just
- 12:58Speaker 2: I don't know how old was I don't know ten
- 13:04Speaker 2: oh Ray saying Happy birthday to the love of my life,
- 13:08Speaker 2: Freddy Bird. Happy birthday, Freddy. It's not Freddy, it's Freddy,
- 13:14Speaker 2: even though there's only one d. I want to ask
- 13:18Speaker 2: you this this morning. Have you ever found yourself in
- 13:25Speaker 2: the doghouse? If you have, today is your chance to
- 13:29Speaker 2: make things right. It is National Get out of the
- 13:32Speaker 2: Doghouse Day Today, celebrated every third Monday in July. I
- 13:37Speaker 2: think it should be celebrated once a week on Monday mornings.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Just a thought, whether you forgot any anniversary, whether you
- 13:49Speaker 2: missed an important event where you just need to make
- 13:54Speaker 2: up for a big mistake, apologize, do something thoughtful, get
- 14:03Speaker 2: back in good graces. I know it's not easy, but
- 14:07Speaker 2: a since here, I'm sorry, and maybe a kind gesture
- 14:16Speaker 2: and a little humor can go a long way. Just
- 14:21Speaker 2: get out of the doghouse and use that excuse if
- 14:24Speaker 2: you want to say say it. Say JD said, it's
- 14:28Speaker 2: Get out of the Doghouse Day today, and I get
- 14:30Speaker 2: a free pass because we all need a free pass
- 14:32Speaker 2: every now and then, just do it. Say it may
- 14:35Speaker 2: not get you anymore, probably won't. Facebook Question of the
- 14:41Speaker 2: Day this morning before I go any further, the Music
- 14:47Speaker 2: is Life festival in Bellows Falls. I heard that it
- 14:51Speaker 2: was amazing. I wasn't there, but I just I just
- 14:58Speaker 2: think it's so great that people are getting together and
- 15:01Speaker 2: enjoying music. There's so much going on musically in just
- 15:06Speaker 2: our little state of Vermont. And with that, I kind
- 15:12Speaker 2: of shift gears into my Facebook Question of the Day,
- 15:16Speaker 2: which is about music. And I asked this yesterday and
- 15:23Speaker 2: I'm going to read some of the responses here, which
- 15:28Speaker 2: really just kind of freaked me out because some of
- 15:32Speaker 2: these guys I've known, some of these listeners is the
- 15:38Speaker 2: Facebook followers I've known, but I've never known that they
- 15:41Speaker 2: actually saw that show. And I'm so envious, but at
- 15:51Speaker 2: the same time so grateful for all the shows I've seen. Yes,
- 15:56Speaker 2: there's been some amazing ones, just recently for the second time.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Carlos Santana I've seen. Yes, I've seen Sticks a couple
- 16:06Speaker 2: of times. But some of the you know, I asked yesterday,
- 16:12Speaker 2: what's the best concert you've ever seen? In the response,
- 16:15Speaker 2: unbelievable I love this. Look at this, Dan saying Blue
- 16:21Speaker 2: Oyster Cult opening for Arrowsmith at the Cape Cod Coliseum
- 16:29Speaker 2: in nineteen seventy four. Do I even need to go further? Dan,
- 16:37Speaker 2: I'm so I just nineteen, I was four years old.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I'm so jealous. Mom. Why didn't you take me to
- 16:49Speaker 2: that show? I know it was only four, It doesn't matter.
- 16:52Speaker 2: You should have taken me. Glenn. Glenn's comment here, I
- 16:59Speaker 2: might have to save this for last, because that this
- 17:02Speaker 2: is this is it. I'm gonna save it for last.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Trevor saying Dead and Company at this sphere, Melissa saying,
- 17:14Speaker 2: just hang on with us here and Melissa, this is
- 17:18Speaker 2: this is this, It's okay, saying her favorite concert was
- 17:24Speaker 2: Weird Al. She says, finally tuned entertainment machine, costume changes,
- 17:35Speaker 2: light show plays, the favorites, Everybody kept their seats. Okay.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Here's the thing about weird Al And I know he's
- 17:48Speaker 2: he's either just recently done a show at the Flynn
- 17:50Speaker 2: or he's coming I can't remember. But here's the thing
- 17:55Speaker 2: about weird Al. And this is weird. I've never seen
- 18:00Speaker 2: weird Al. Or maybe it's the Champlaine Valley Fair. I
- 18:05Speaker 2: think that's it. Never seen him, but I've heard from
- 18:08Speaker 2: people that he puts on one hell of a show. Okay,
- 18:17Speaker 2: Donna says ac DC, Donna, were you there with Chuck
- 18:27Speaker 2: and I and Sharlyn and Vic at the Gillette Stadium
- 18:33Speaker 2: last May best show ever seen? Yes, very much. So.
- 18:42Speaker 2: There are some concerts where I got a little misty
- 18:45Speaker 2: in the eyes borderline crying. Carlos Santana was one of them.
- 18:52Speaker 2: But ac DC was was full waterworks when I saw
- 18:58Speaker 2: Angus and they did. For those about the rock, I
- 19:03Speaker 2: just I lost it. Favorite song, Oh ouch, Taylor, you're
- 19:11Speaker 2: going for the jugular here? Oh Rush at spack Oh,
- 19:20Speaker 2: I got goosebumps. I'm serious, I just got goosebumps with
- 19:28Speaker 2: my dad back in twenty twelve for twenty thirteen for
- 19:31Speaker 2: his birthday, had to be one of the only preteens
- 19:35Speaker 2: there but the man. But man, what a night it was. Taylor,
- 19:44Speaker 2: Thank your dad. You're just you're not gonna see I'm sorry,
- 19:52Speaker 2: And I know Lady Gaga puts on one hell of
- 19:54Speaker 2: a show. I understand, but you're not gonna You're just
- 19:58Speaker 2: not gonna see stuff like that a lot. I'm so jealous. Rush,
- 20:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, Vince Gill at the Champlain Valley Fair,
- 20:08Speaker 2: says Joe. I heard that was a hell of a show.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I saw Vince at the Champlain Valley Fair a long
- 20:14Speaker 2: time ago. I don't know, Joe if it was the
- 20:16Speaker 2: same show. Maybe it was, but it was amazing yellow guitar.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Let's see. I'll get this. This is killing me. Michael
- 20:28Speaker 2: Danko saying, Pink Floyd Austin, Texas, nineteen eighty seven. This
- 20:38Speaker 2: is painful for me to read some of these because
- 20:40Speaker 2: these are Floyd is Floyd and Genesis are like right
- 20:48Speaker 2: right at the top for me bucket list was ACDC
- 20:54Speaker 2: number one, Frampton number two. I had to make sure
- 21:02Speaker 2: that was number two. Yeah, Frampton number two, and Carlos
- 21:06Speaker 2: Santana number three, and I did them all. That was
- 21:10Speaker 2: the trifecta right there. April Wine at the higher Ground.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Wow damn. But Denko says Pink Floyd Austin, Texas eighty seven.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Also says, and this is I'm going to carry this
- 21:31Speaker 2: for the rest of the day. Stevie ray Vaughn playing
- 21:36Speaker 2: in a bar in Austin, Texas, not once, but several times.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Danko's been there between eighty five and eighty nine Peak
- 21:45Speaker 2: right there, Texas flood My god, and then he says
- 21:51Speaker 2: honorable mention Roger Waters performing the Wall at Fenway Park
- 21:55Speaker 2: in twenty twelve. I'm having fun with this. I'm sorry.
- 22:03Speaker 2: It just it's like I saw these comments. I'm like,
- 22:06Speaker 2: I'm talking about this tomorrow. John Fogerty. Danielle says, seen
- 22:12Speaker 2: him twice back to back nights. The man has amazing
- 22:16Speaker 2: energy in stage presence. Lane Kimball says, Paul McCartney, Oh
- 22:20Speaker 2: my god, Wow, Mike Lucy, I've been to forty nine
- 22:28Speaker 2: different shows. That's cool. Hard to pick a favorite, but
- 22:33Speaker 2: I'd say The Grateful Dead. Not surprised. Bob Dylan and
- 22:38Speaker 2: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Buffalo, New York, July fourth,
- 22:42Speaker 2: nineteen eighty six. And here's the thing. He even remembers
- 22:46Speaker 2: the date, Chuck and I will always remember May fourth
- 22:55Speaker 2: for ac DC Jill at Stadium. He even got the tattoo.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Let's see rise above fest and Bangor says Tina Bad
- 23:06Speaker 2: Company in Burlington. I've seen probably two hundred plus acts.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Chuck Berry at the Flynn was probably was pretty good.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Believe it or not, is what she says. Oh, I
- 23:20Speaker 2: believe that David Byrne at the Wang Center Boston last
- 23:24Speaker 2: fall Metallica. Not surprised. Not a huge Metallica fan, but
- 23:32Speaker 2: I again not surprised. Shannon says grateful dead every single time.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Not surprised by that either. Jennifer says shine down and Metallica,
- 23:46Speaker 2: Elton John hands down, and Kenny. And this one makes
- 23:55Speaker 2: me laugh because I can see Kenny there. You can
- 23:58Speaker 2: see him causing all kinds of problems at the Boston
- 24:02Speaker 2: Garden seeing Aerosmith. But the one that really got me
- 24:07Speaker 2: was Glenn Brummert. And if I had to pick any
- 24:13Speaker 2: of these concerts, it would be really difficult for me.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Brummert got to see Pink Floyd the Wall at the
- 24:27Speaker 2: Nassau Coliseum in nineteen eighty. Wow, that would be the
- 24:38Speaker 2: one show right there, Taylor says Billy Joel in twenty
- 24:46Speaker 2: nineteen at Fenway. I remember that. I didn't go, but
- 24:48Speaker 2: I remember all about it. Once a performer, always a performer. Yeah,
- 24:54Speaker 2: Billy Joel brings the goods. A couple of people, say Taylor,
- 24:57Speaker 2: saying that too. Wait a minute, Taylor said it twice, Okay.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Jethro Tull in New Hampshire, Oh God, these are amazing shows.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Look at this, My god, there's more coming in unbelievable
- 25:23Speaker 2: Vermont news over the weekend. Oh wait a minute, hang on,
- 25:28Speaker 2: cheez for I gotta tell you where I was this weekend,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and then we'll get into the news. Sherilyn took me
- 25:44Speaker 2: to see Muse at the Exfinity Center. If there was
- 25:54Speaker 2: anyone listening this morning that was there on Saturday night,
- 26:00Speaker 2: please drop it in the comments. I've been to so
- 26:06Speaker 2: many shows. Journey was a favorite of mine. I think nineteen,
- 26:15Speaker 2: I want to say I think I was sixteen, nineteen
- 26:17Speaker 2: eighty six. But Muse on Saturday night, if you ever
- 26:28Speaker 2: have a chance to see Mewse, don't pass it up.
- 26:36Speaker 2: This is our second time seeing mews and the first
- 26:39Speaker 2: time during the Drones tour at the Boston Garden. We
- 26:43Speaker 2: said to each other, Rilyn and I said, we're not
- 26:47Speaker 2: going to pass it up. If they come again, We're
- 26:49Speaker 2: not going to miss it. Coldplay too, but Muse on
- 26:55Speaker 2: Saturday night was just something that was out of bout.
- 26:59Speaker 2: It lost for words. The power of the music coming
- 27:07Speaker 2: off that stage, literally penetrating your body, going right through
- 27:15Speaker 2: your meat, your bones. My shirt was literally shaking. G
- 27:32Speaker 2: G's gonna be giving me some crap for him not
- 27:35Speaker 2: going to Muse with us. I think the next time
- 27:39Speaker 2: we've got a couple of Muse friends, big fans, I
- 27:43Speaker 2: think the next time they come, I think we're just
- 27:46Speaker 2: gonna like say, hey, we're all going, who's coming. I mean,
- 27:54Speaker 2: it was I just don't even know how they've got
- 27:58Speaker 2: a new album out. The power on that stage I've
- 28:07Speaker 2: never I've never been to a show and felt the
- 28:15Speaker 2: base and it was beyond just like loud volume. Frampton
- 28:23Speaker 2: was loud, but the punch through the air was like
- 28:32Speaker 2: nothing I've ever experienced. When you yell wow or scream
- 28:42Speaker 2: wow and you can't even hear yourself something else. Man
- 28:50Speaker 2: really was And I'm sure I'll be talking more about it,
- 28:56Speaker 2: but man, it's like I don't care. And I said
- 28:59Speaker 2: to Marilyn, I'm like, I don't care how many times
- 29:02Speaker 2: you listen to a Muse album, how many times, or
- 29:08Speaker 2: how loud you listen to Muse in you're on your
- 29:14Speaker 2: stereo wherever, until you've experienced them in concert. It is
- 29:20Speaker 2: a completely different experience. Damn right, I'm going to give
- 29:30Speaker 2: you some crap. You didn't invite me at all, some
- 29:34Speaker 2: friend you are Vermont News over the weekend. We have
- 29:44Speaker 2: a Lindonville man facing multiple charges after an hours long
- 29:49Speaker 2: standoff with the Vermont State Police in Barton on Sunday yesterday,
- 29:54Speaker 2: twenty six year old Wyatt Gillman from Lyndonville. Vermont State
- 29:59Speaker 2: Police responded after reports that he was armed and barricaded
- 30:04Speaker 2: again this just happened in Middlebury. Standoff last for several
- 30:09Speaker 2: hours before members of the Vermont de Police Tactical Services
- 30:13Speaker 2: Unit were able to take him into custody. No law
- 30:16Speaker 2: enforcement officers or members of the public were injured. This
- 30:20Speaker 2: is just the skinny facts here on this story. He's
- 30:23Speaker 2: facing multiple criminal charges, including allegations related to the incident
- 30:29Speaker 2: that led to the standoff. He's expected to appear in court.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Don't know when. Can't wait to hear more about this.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Will he get a slap on the wrist? We'll see,
- 30:43Speaker 2: won't we. Police are investigating stolen mail in Vernon, searching
- 30:53Speaker 2: for whoever stole a large quantity of mail after a
- 30:57Speaker 2: bag containing stolen mail was discovered inver and investigators are
- 31:01Speaker 2: asking anyone with info to come forward. If you're going
- 31:05Speaker 2: to steal stuff, if that's your mo a bag of mail.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Do you really want everyone else's bills and medical notices
- 31:21Speaker 2: and junk mail? Let's see what else do we have?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Home Share Vermont is back in the headlines. Rick Sungary,
- 31:29Speaker 2: who was just on the air with me a couple
- 31:30Speaker 2: of weeks ago. Growing demand, the nonprofit program that matches
- 31:36Speaker 2: homeowners with people looking for affordable housing, says requests for
- 31:39Speaker 2: assistance continue to rise as Vermont's housing shortage persists. As
- 31:50Speaker 2: I saw a post from someone over the weekend that said,
- 31:57Speaker 2: building homes creates greenhouse gases? Do we really want to
- 32:07Speaker 2: continue building more homes? The America two point fifty locomotive
- 32:22Speaker 2: was unveiled over the weekend, celebrating the nation's two hundred
- 32:28Speaker 2: and fiftieth anniversary. The commemorative engine is going to operate
- 32:33Speaker 2: throughout the region. I don't know where. I hope the
- 32:36Speaker 2: Vermont Rail System has probably got it on their Facebook page.
- 32:40Speaker 2: I'd like to look at this and find out more.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I'd like to at least see the thing. I don't
- 32:44Speaker 2: know if the public is invited to hop on board
- 32:47Speaker 2: this thing or not, but it would be cool as hell.
- 32:53Speaker 2: National news and we've probably heard the mystery surrounding the
- 32:58Speaker 2: outbreaks of explosive diarrhea. The parasite and I'm sorry to
- 33:09Speaker 2: say this, but these two words go with the story
- 33:14Speaker 2: taco and the word bell. Over the weekend, the case
- 33:24Speaker 2: appears to have been cracked kind of. Here's what we know.
- 33:32Speaker 2: US officials have linked Tailor Farms, a plant in Mexico
- 33:41Speaker 2: to this. The parasite causes severe illness, vomiting, cramping, and yes,
- 33:51Speaker 2: not just diarrhea, explosive diarrhea. Make sure you're drinking plenty
- 34:02Speaker 2: of fluids always. Tailor Farms issued a recall notifying customers
- 34:07Speaker 2: that let Us shipped to twenty seven states may have
- 34:11Speaker 2: been contaminated, and that led us that Tailor Farms ships
- 34:18Speaker 2: includes Taco Bell locations in five states. Five Does the
- 34:29Speaker 2: story list off the five states, of course not. Instead,
- 34:43Speaker 2: much of the product being recalled was sold in larger
- 34:49Speaker 2: bags to food service operations like restaurants, not just little
- 34:55Speaker 2: taco bells. Many of the bags were iceberg Lettus blended
- 34:59Speaker 2: with remain. This is I know, there's a lot of
- 35:05Speaker 2: ambiguity here. This is going to be a process. This
- 35:08Speaker 2: is not going away at any time soon. Taylor Farms,
- 35:17Speaker 2: their own statements are a little confusing. They don't even
- 35:22Speaker 2: list the distributors, the stores, the Taco Bells, and the
- 35:29Speaker 2: other restaurants that possibly have received these affected lettuce products.
- 35:41Speaker 2: And I am curious, why why are they not being
- 35:47Speaker 2: held accountable to at least have the information public? Of
- 35:56Speaker 2: which five states the Taco bells? Can we just start
- 36:00Speaker 2: with there? With the Taco Bells. There's a few retail
- 36:08Speaker 2: packages being recalled for possible health risk a few. Walmart
- 36:18Speaker 2: is one of them. Apparently, according to the story that
- 36:21Speaker 2: I'm seeing this morning, are Walmart's being very proactive in
- 36:26Speaker 2: removing their inventory tailor foods. If you're listening this morning,
- 36:36Speaker 2: where are the shipments coming from? Where the lots located.
- 36:46Speaker 2: The scale of the outbreak is still being determined, they say,
- 36:54Speaker 2: but it could be impacting more than five thousand individuals
- 36:59Speaker 2: in at least thirty four states. I remember when it
- 37:03Speaker 2: was thirteen states, Now it's thirty four. Symptoms typically begin
- 37:12Speaker 2: about a week after exposure. Oh that's nice, watery, severe diarrhea,
- 37:20Speaker 2: stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, well,
- 37:25Speaker 2: there's one way to shed a few pounds Without treatment.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Symptoms can last weeks or even Yes, I'm gonna say
- 37:34Speaker 2: it months. The infection is not spread from person to person,
- 37:41Speaker 2: usually contracted by eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Health officials recommend washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly, although washing
- 37:56Speaker 2: is likely not to remove all of the pair sites.
- 38:02Speaker 2: So now, before you make that fresh green crispy salad
- 38:08Speaker 2: at home, you gotta boil it in water first, which
- 38:15Speaker 2: may make it a little limp. I don't know. Avoid
- 38:19Speaker 2: recall products if any are announced, Yes, please and thank you.
- 38:22Speaker 2: We will contacting a healthcare provider if you develop prolonged diarrhea,
- 38:30Speaker 2: as the infection can be treated with prescription antibiotics. I'm
- 38:36Speaker 2: calling the doctor at the first sign, not the second.
- 38:41Speaker 2: What else is going on in national news? I know
- 38:44Speaker 2: I hung out on that story for a long time,
- 38:46Speaker 2: but still Trump Media, owner of conservative social media platform
- 38:58Speaker 2: truth Social, has reportedly offered Wall Street firms instant access
- 39:06Speaker 2: to President Donald Trump's posts for a monthly fee. Of course, Becky,
- 39:17Speaker 2: have a seat. Now, I want you to take a
- 39:21Speaker 2: guess gu two on how much you think Trump Media
- 39:31Speaker 2: is selling all of their posts to Wall Street four
- 39:40Speaker 2: per month. It's a monthly subscription one hundred thousand dollars
- 39:50Speaker 2: per month. That's a deal. World News. Serious note here.
- 39:58Speaker 2: US Central Command completing the ninth consecutive evening of strikes
- 40:04Speaker 2: against Iran. As of ten pm last night. Three hour
- 40:12Speaker 2: bombing targeted Iranian military command centers last night, air defense
- 40:19Speaker 2: and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites.
- 40:28Speaker 2: US military has identified the two American soldiers killed in
- 40:34Speaker 2: the missile introne attack on the US position in Jordan,
- 40:40Speaker 2: and it's out in the news today. First Lieutenant Tyler
- 40:46Speaker 2: James Fihan from Hawaii twenty five years old and Private
- 40:56Speaker 2: Isabella Gonzales from Carlton, Texas, nineteen years old. Wow. Social
- 41:14Speaker 2: media influencers Enter Tate and his brother Tristan this one
- 41:20Speaker 2: I saw. On Saturday night they were arrested in Miami.
- 41:27Speaker 2: British authorities announced thirty eight new charges, as well as
- 41:34Speaker 2: efforts to extort them or extradite them. I should say
- 41:40Speaker 2: they've already been. They've extorted themselves. Look at the seven
- 41:47Speaker 2: year span here covering rape and sex trafficking charges as
- 41:55Speaker 2: well as crimes related to child sexual abuse images. The
- 42:00Speaker 2: UK says four victims are tied to the latest allegations
- 42:06Speaker 2: separate from the twenty one charges filed against the brothers
- 42:09Speaker 2: last year for crimes related to other unnamed victims. These
- 42:18Speaker 2: guys are US and British citizens. Now now they're facing
- 42:32Speaker 2: exploitation charges in Romania, where they lived from twenty sixteen
- 42:39Speaker 2: to twenty twenty five. Apparently that case is stalled. I
- 42:49Speaker 2: can think of a few responses that I have to
- 42:56Speaker 2: this story of what should be done with these guys,
- 43:10Speaker 2: but i'll just zip it. Why it is, Why and
- 43:18Speaker 2: how something like this can continue for so long is
- 43:23Speaker 2: baffling to me. Why no one has taken it upon
- 43:30Speaker 2: themselves to shut these guys down over all these years.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's it's more than baffling. It's it's I just can't imagine.
- 43:51Speaker 2: We're going to talk sports here and we're gonna get
- 43:55Speaker 2: a call into the Connecticut Valley Little League who has
- 44:00Speaker 2: some really big news in In just a minute, Donna saying, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky,
- 44:16Speaker 2: West Virginia, and Ohio are the five states with the
- 44:20Speaker 2: lettuce outbreak. Well, there's there's thirty four states, but I
- 44:26Speaker 2: think Donna is referring to the five where the taco
- 44:34Speaker 2: bells specifically have had problems with their their lettuce aren't real.
- 44:44Speaker 2: The Capitol Showplace theater in Montpellier yesterday was packed with
- 44:51Speaker 2: hundreds of soccer fans for the free showing of the
- 44:55Speaker 2: World Cup. Spain won with a thrilling you're a soccer fan,
- 45:01Speaker 2: I guess one to nothing that kind of win during
- 45:06Speaker 2: extra time is is it was? It was thrilling. It's
- 45:11Speaker 2: just there's just not big numbers here. The one hundred
- 45:13Speaker 2: and fifth minute of the game. Saturday's third place game
- 45:21Speaker 2: had way more action and we well, of course we
- 45:26Speaker 2: watched that England and France, England taking the win six
- 45:30Speaker 2: to four, which you know, which is like seven hundred
- 45:35Speaker 2: and forty nine to six hundred and thirteen in the NBA.
- 45:38Speaker 2: But still, I mean, it was it was amazing to
- 45:43Speaker 2: listen to the back and forth and to.
- 45:49Speaker 3: It was.
- 45:49Speaker 2: It was amazing, even though I mean it was like
- 45:52Speaker 2: the tension was so high. Who is going to get
- 45:55Speaker 2: the first goal? My god, Spain, second time in history.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I'm happy for him. And if you're if you're curious, Sherilyn,
- 46:10Speaker 2: my wife from England, who was she going for? Was
- 46:15Speaker 2: she going for Spain? And she said before she said,
- 46:21Speaker 2: they're just a great team. They're a better team arguably.
- 46:27Speaker 2: But Argentina, Man, it's like, as they were saying yesterday
- 46:31Speaker 2: on Fox, it's like when you when you think that
- 46:34Speaker 2: Argentina is dead and they maybe they looked dead, but
- 46:38Speaker 2: they had no shots on coal for Spain, none, not
- 46:43Speaker 2: one but blocked. What was it, Martinez ten? I think
- 46:47Speaker 2: it was record for a World Cup final. Something's out
- 46:55Speaker 2: of balance there, But what a game, man. And the
- 47:00Speaker 2: celebrities that were there at MetLife Stadium or the New
- 47:07Speaker 2: York New Jersey Stadium as they kind of weirdly renamed
- 47:11Speaker 2: it for the tournament. I still don't understand that, do you.
- 47:15Speaker 2: But the celebrities that were there, Matt Damon, Jay Z, Beyonce,
- 47:20Speaker 2: David and Victoria Beckham, Kevin Hart, Serena Williams, Adrian Brody,
- 47:26Speaker 2: Richard Gere, Trevor Noah was there, Rob Gronkowski and others.
- 47:36Speaker 2: I'm just barely scratching the surface here. But Damon seemed
- 47:40Speaker 2: to be having a great time, even though the Fox
- 47:45Speaker 2: announcer John Strong misidentified him as Brad Pitt. Did you
- 47:52Speaker 2: hear that Tom Cruise showing up just to remind us,
- 47:57Speaker 2: you know how awesome the World Cup is? Because he
- 48:00Speaker 2: was there. Post Malone kicked off the show, Jennifer Hudson
- 48:05Speaker 2: saying the national anthem. I thought she did an amazing job.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Halftime show, Madonna, Shakira, Justin bieber Bts, even the Muppets
- 48:19Speaker 2: showed up. Kermit was there. I'm not kidding. Ms Picky
- 48:24Speaker 2: was there, of course with Kermit. It was nice to
- 48:29Speaker 2: see Elmo and the Cookie Monster and even the Count.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Did you see Did you notice that? Did you see that?
- 48:37Speaker 2: Count must have done it for the money. I mean,
- 48:39Speaker 2: he can't possibly be a soccer fan. I mean, there's
- 48:46Speaker 2: nothing to count. It's just one goal. Uh what else?
- 48:57Speaker 2: Vermont's sixth runs, six runs in the first inning and
- 49:05Speaker 2: a two hit outing by the pitching staff catapulted the
- 49:09Speaker 2: Mountaineers to an eleven to one win over the Newport
- 49:13Speaker 2: goals eleven to one Tonight North Adams with the Mountaineers,
- 49:20Speaker 2: it's going to be a perfect night at the ballpark
- 49:23Speaker 2: Wednesday versus Keene and then Wednesday the twenty ninth, a
- 49:27Speaker 2: week later versus North Shore, and that's it for the
- 49:29Speaker 2: regular season. Vermont Green FC, advancing to the playoffs, hosted
- 49:40Speaker 2: a USL League two Round of sixteen playoff match at
- 49:45Speaker 2: Virtue Field on Sunday. Club continued its postseason run after
- 49:50Speaker 2: a standout season. If you're paying attention to what's happening
- 49:57Speaker 2: in sports, that's really cool. I love to I love
- 50:00Speaker 2: to hear stuff like that. Vermont's doing well. The young ladies,
- 50:10Speaker 2: dare I say, girls of the Connecticut Valley Little League
- 50:16Speaker 2: are just literally on top of their game. They had
- 50:23Speaker 2: an exceptionally good weekend and they've actually had an exceptionally
- 50:27Speaker 2: good run here for the last couple of weeks. Head
- 50:31Speaker 2: coach Cody Fulton is with us. Cody, good morning morning, Hey,
- 50:38Speaker 2: congratulations to your team.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Man, there you go.
- 50:43Speaker 2: This is really really cool. How what's the age range
- 50:48Speaker 2: for these girls?
- 50:52Speaker 4: They range anywhere from eight to ten years old.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Has this been the first time that that this this
- 51:01Speaker 2: little league team has advanced this far?
- 51:05Speaker 4: So so for this team, Yes, Connecticut Valley has done
- 51:11Speaker 4: it too previous other years in the past.
- 51:16Speaker 3: So wow, a pretty big thing to get them through it.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Now, tell us about your daughter. She's the pitcher, right
- 51:24Speaker 2: she is?
- 51:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 51:26Speaker 2: How how old is she? And how how fast is
- 51:30Speaker 2: she pitching? Man?
- 51:32Speaker 4: She right now is in the she's right around fifty
- 51:36Speaker 4: to fifty five at thirty five feet. Yeah, so she's
- 51:42Speaker 4: been pitcher and ever since she could really pick up
- 51:44Speaker 4: a softball.
- 51:45Speaker 2: So, Tony, can you pitch that fast?
- 51:48Speaker 3: I cannot.
- 51:53Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, here's the thing. You could, but
- 51:56Speaker 2: you might be at the orthopedic doctor on Monday morning.
- 51:59Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's one hundred per Yeah, that's that's that's astunding.
- 52:04Speaker 2: She's been pitching since she was howled, I ever.
- 52:08Speaker 4: Said she could she could pick up a ball since
- 52:11Speaker 4: probably seven to eight. She's been trying to pitch.
- 52:15Speaker 2: So and how old is she now?
- 52:16Speaker 3: Again, she's a league aged ten.
- 52:21Speaker 2: What's gonna happen in in high school?
- 52:25Speaker 3: I'm not sure, but we're gonna be along for the ride.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Man, I mean really really impressive. Saw her pitch up
- 52:32Speaker 2: in Saint Jay and I was like, oh my god,
- 52:36Speaker 2: it's crazy.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's definitely definitely fun to watch.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Now during during the winter, Is she practicing in the
- 52:45Speaker 2: living room?
- 52:46Speaker 3: No, So we used to.
- 52:49Speaker 4: We used to practice down in our basement and then
- 52:52Speaker 4: the ball just started to come too fast and I
- 52:54Speaker 4: could I couldn't.
- 52:55Speaker 3: I couldn't do it anymore.
- 52:56Speaker 4: So then we we we practice, uh in the winter
- 53:00Speaker 4: time about a facility.
- 53:02Speaker 2: So all right, has it? So a lamp has not
- 53:04Speaker 2: been taken out in the living room yet, not recently. Okay,
- 53:09Speaker 2: what's so? What just happened this weekend? And what's coming
- 53:13Speaker 2: up here in a week?
- 53:17Speaker 4: So they just completed their state tournament run up in
- 53:23Speaker 4: Burlington on Saturday, and then they report to Staten Island
- 53:30Speaker 4: regionals this Friday.
- 53:35Speaker 2: That's uh, that's less than a week, my man, it
- 53:39Speaker 2: is it is so you must be thrilled. The girls
- 53:44Speaker 2: must be on top of the world that they've they've
- 53:47Speaker 2: made it this far. But what's gonna happen in in
- 53:51Speaker 2: Staten Island? What's gonna happen in New York City?
- 53:55Speaker 4: So the girls get to uh, when they get down there,
- 53:59Speaker 4: they're gonna do you know, a banner parade for all
- 54:01Speaker 4: the other states in the region. And they're going to
- 54:06Speaker 4: do some pool play on uh Sunday, Monday, and then
- 54:12Speaker 4: Tuesday and then we'll go into bracket play or sorry,
- 54:18Speaker 4: Tuesday and Wednesday, they'll go into bracket play.
- 54:21Speaker 2: So wow, are they are they nervous? Do they do
- 54:30Speaker 2: they know what's coming?
- 54:32Speaker 3: I don't know that they.
- 54:34Speaker 4: I think some do, but I think that some do not,
- 54:38Speaker 4: which I'm okay with yeah, we kind of control the jitters,
- 54:45Speaker 4: but in big moments, they've they've they've shine through.
- 54:48Speaker 3: So I think they'll they'll be prepared for what's going
- 54:51Speaker 3: to be thrown at.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Him, and and you and coach Downing have I'm guessing
- 54:58Speaker 2: made it u clear to a good good number of
- 55:03Speaker 2: the team, maybe the whole team, but maybe especially some
- 55:06Speaker 2: members of the team, especially your daughter, that uh, they're
- 55:12Speaker 2: they're they're going up against a kind of a different
- 55:15Speaker 2: caliber of talent here. Your your daughter is gonna be
- 55:20Speaker 2: pitching very similarly as other pitchers pitch.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Some of the girls have been exposed to to some
- 55:34Speaker 4: of it. They play, you know, outside of the Little League,
- 55:37Speaker 4: so they see some of the travel ball where they
- 55:39Speaker 4: travel down south and they see some of it, and
- 55:42Speaker 4: some of these girls have never seen anything like it before.
- 55:45Speaker 2: So right, which is which is great? Man, I mean
- 55:48Speaker 2: that's fantastic.
- 55:51Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's gonna be a great experience for for them.
- 55:53Speaker 4: I Uh, I think that it's really just gonna grow
- 55:57Speaker 4: the love of softball for for those girls, Like it's
- 56:01Speaker 4: real cool to go down there and compete with real,
- 56:03Speaker 4: real people that want to really compete and play.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's gonna be awesome.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Let's talk about Uh so you guys are set and
- 56:12Speaker 2: sail on Friday.
- 56:16Speaker 4: We yes, yeah, Our managers meetings are Friday, So we're
- 56:20Speaker 4: gonna be in Styala on Friday afternoon.
- 56:23Speaker 2: All right, So we're again, like I said, less than
- 56:26Speaker 2: a week and you guys are are trying to prepare
- 56:29Speaker 2: to go to New York City. I'm guessing food, transportation, lodging,
- 56:39Speaker 2: all of this stuff, registration fees. There's got to be
- 56:43Speaker 2: cody a price tag for this kind of stuff.
- 56:47Speaker 3: There is there is for sure.
- 56:50Speaker 2: What are we talking about and what do we need
- 56:53Speaker 2: to do as a community to help out?
- 56:57Speaker 3: As we talk about it, we we think we're to be.
- 57:00Speaker 4: Right around with food and lodging and fuel right around
- 57:04Speaker 4: anywhere from twenty to twenty five dollars a player taking
- 57:08Speaker 4: them down there, getting lodge.
- 57:09Speaker 3: And get them fed for the week. The community has
- 57:13Speaker 3: already started to rally around the softball team. Donations are
- 57:19Speaker 3: already pouring in.
- 57:21Speaker 4: We're using zeft, which is right on our Connecticut Valley
- 57:26Speaker 4: Facebook page. I believe everybody is sharing it, which is
- 57:29Speaker 4: super cool to see. We also have some venmos and
- 57:33Speaker 4: if that's you know, if that's a preferred donation location.
- 57:37Speaker 4: And also you'll see us kind of in the Northeast
- 57:41Speaker 4: area with bake sales and stuff in the next couple
- 57:43Speaker 4: of days.
- 57:45Speaker 2: All right, please support them no matter where you see them.
- 57:49Speaker 2: And I think one of the locations is going to
- 57:52Speaker 2: be today over at the Waits River General Store, right.
- 57:56Speaker 4: That's correct, Yep, the girls will be there selling some
- 57:59Speaker 4: some big support and shining their new their new band
- 58:04Speaker 4: they just got.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Have you experienced a Melia Rice Chrispy treat?
- 58:12Speaker 3: I have not yet.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Okay, I'm telling you right now, Cody what whatever they're
- 58:19Speaker 2: selling for, they're worth a buck Moore at least. I
- 58:23Speaker 2: mean there's I'm serious, it's a meal.
- 58:26Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 58:27Speaker 2: Listen, where where else Cody can we can we look
- 58:32Speaker 2: for the for the Girls fundraising this week.
- 58:38Speaker 4: I don't have any super set in Stolee locations just yet,
- 58:43Speaker 4: but all that is going to be right through our
- 58:47Speaker 4: Facebook page Connecticut Valley. There's a ton of information coming out,
- 58:51Speaker 4: it almost seems like hourly through that Facebook page where
- 58:56Speaker 4: they're looking for donations and where we're going to be.
- 58:58Speaker 4: So that's a great great spot to grab gather some
- 59:02Speaker 4: information and then see where you can meet up with.
- 59:05Speaker 3: The girls and you know, hopefully buy some cookies and
- 59:08Speaker 3: and it's.
- 59:08Speaker 2: You know, at the very least give him a high five, man.
- 59:11Speaker 2: And and if you're not buying any baked goods or
- 59:14Speaker 2: whatever it is that they're selling, just throw them a
- 59:15Speaker 2: couple of bucks. Let's talk about Uh, coach Downing, what
- 59:22Speaker 2: what a guy? I mean? This is someone who loves
- 59:25Speaker 2: this game so much. All he thinks about, uh, all
- 59:30Speaker 2: year long is softball and coaching these girls.
- 59:34Speaker 3: That's it. Yeah.
- 59:37Speaker 4: Uh, he's definitely a good wing man to have inside
- 59:41Speaker 4: the dugout.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Keeps me levelheaded at times.
- 59:46Speaker 4: And uh yeah, just the love for the sport and
- 59:48Speaker 4: it shows that shows, you know, when he's on the field,
- 59:51Speaker 4: and it shows through both of his girls too. So
- 59:55Speaker 4: he's a great, great wing man to have in the dugout.
- 59:57Speaker 4: And uh he just you know, great asset to the team.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I think. And you've been a coach where tell us
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: about the other teams that you've been the coach of.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: So I I'm actually an assistant coach through our little
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: league team, the Hawkeye. So I coach with two other
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: coach Cassie and coach Mike with them and then we
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: actually started a ten U eight zero two travel team
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: this year, which has been all kinds of fun with
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: some of the other girls on the team as well, so.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: So collectively been I've been coaching.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: For five years, five years now, and it's just it's
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: just growing, you know, with there's always love of the
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: sport and you know now my love of the sport
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: because of her love of it.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: We're just always looking for opportunities.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: So there's a huge, huge commit meant involved in taking
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: things to the next level here. Time commitments, travel commitments.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: I mean, these girls are practicing like what every day,
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: five days a week, six days a week, something like that.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: Yeah, ever since the.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: We they made the team, it's been it's been five
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: days a week, five sometimes six days a week.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Every day for an hour and a half, they're on that.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Field, whether the sun is shining or not, whether it's
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: eighty five or not. Correct, that's it.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: We practice in the rain because we play in the rain.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Love that you know, there's is You and coach Downing
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: are well aware there is something that's going on here
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: that is a whole hell of a lot bigger than
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: just the game of softball. These kids are learning patience, determination,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: team work. They understand that they they may be the
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: star for one play, but no one's the star of
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: the team. They have to work together. There has to
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: be connectivity for them to have success.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Absolutely, we talked about it all the time. You know,
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: there's eleven people behind you, whether next pitch, next strike,
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: next out, there's eleven other girls behind you to make
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: this happen, you know, and we talk about it all
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: the time. Being able to overcome and do tough things,
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: it's a life skill.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: I think that they.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Are going to carry on for a long time being
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: able to to overcome things that are going to be
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: really really hard. Up in the championship game, for example,
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: second inning, we gave up our first run of the
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: tournament and it was pouring rain, and all the girls
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: kind of came in and like, I don't know what
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: we're gonna do, but we went made it through the
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: rain delay and made it made it through it.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: But you know, they didn't hang their head.
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: They just came together and really brought each other up
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: and figured out how they were going to get through,
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: you know, some tough, tough conditions and and make it happen.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Listen, I don't I don't. I don't want you to
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: feel like I'm asking you to single out anybody, But
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: is there a player, Is there one girl that you
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: would love to give a shout out to? A member
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: of the team that has been awakened to a new
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: reality of like, oh my god, I can do this.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I really didn't think I could, but look at what's happening.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: There's been a change in one kid in particular.
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: I think I think for all my minors, my minor
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: girls as a whole have really like just super rise
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: to the occasion. No Bailey, may Addie, all those all
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: those miners, Wren, all those those minor girls are really
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: stepped to the challenge because in regular season it's it's
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: not like All Stars. It's you know, it's a little
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: bit slower paced, you know, no stealing at home.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: So there's a little bit of a rule change.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: And then when they get into All Stars, we just
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: pump them with a bunch of information and then they've
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: gotta they've got to adapt quick, and they really really
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: have shined through.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: I love this man. This is the kind of stuff
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: that it's just it's what blongs on the air more
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: than anything else. I just I love the fact that
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: these kids are living life and they've got some outstanding
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: adults behind them that are making sure that they're going
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: to go as far as they can. This is so cool, Cody.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really It's really cool.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: And as much as much credit as I love to
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: give to my daughter you're throwing, there is also a
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: super important kiddo like Ivy down and behind the behind
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: the dish every day. I don't love catching for my
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: kid anymore. Yeah, it's not fun for me, but she's
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: back there. She's a wall and those two as a
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: dynamic are just awesome.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: I've seen it. I've seen it many times. Actually, the
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: the the synergy between the two of them and Ivy, man,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: she is just just a tip of the hat to
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: to Jody. I mean, Ivy is just I wouldn't want
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: to be the catcher either. Dirt in the eye constantly.
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, no, she's really and always does it with
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: a smile on her face.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I know it in the heat, you know, crouching down,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: getting up, crouching down, getting up, and paying attention, uh
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: to to what's happening out there on the on the field.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: It's not just catching the ball. No, amazing Cody, thank
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: you so much for joining us this morning.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: Man, Yes, thanks thanks for having us. We're we're super
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: excited and.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Yeah and we're we're gonna be sharing that link again
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: shortly here but go Connecticut Valley. Man, this is so cool.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: I love it. I'm so excited for these girls. And
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: you know, here's the thing, It's like, who knows what's
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: going to happen in New York City, who knows, But
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: just the fact that they've made it this far is
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: so special. And please be on the lookout for them. Fundraising,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: whether it's a bake sale, whether it's just a donation
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: that you can make, even five ten bucks is going
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: to help out if enough people push through Coach Downing.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Are you with us this morning? I am hey man.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: We just had Cody on what a what a top
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: notch both of you top notch guys man, And you know,
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: like I just said to Cody, I'm like, there is
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: so much going on here beyond just the sport of softball.
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: Oh. Absolutely, How how has.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: This this season been for you? You you have watched
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: these kids grow significantly in a short period of time,
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: practicing every single day. Unreal, man, Oh.
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: It's incredible.
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: I mean the time and afric these girls put in
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: to do this is something else.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Tell me about this? Uh this coming Friday, you guys
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: are are putting it in gear and you're headed to
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: New York City.
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: Yeah, I think we're headed out Friday morning. We have
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: a coaches meeting Friday afternoon in Scotaten Island.
- 1:08:07Speaker 7: We'll have a big deal for the girls in US.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Yeah, this really is And what do you what are
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: you saying to these kids? I mean, you've always got
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: some pretty choice words for teaching them something beyond the
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: just the sport of softball. But what do you what
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: are you telling them? What are you and Cody both
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: telling them about the caliber of talent that they're going
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: to be going up against in New York City?
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: Patients, I'll be smart, make good decisions. Some of the
- 1:08:39Speaker 8: girls have seen some of the pitching and some haven't,
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: so it should be fun for him.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Yeah, they're all right up there around what fifty to
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: maybe sixty mile an hour pitches. You might you might
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: strengthen it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: I think we have a phenom Zoe and Cody's daughter.
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: That kid throws the ball hard. So I don't think
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: we're going to see any better pitching than her down there.
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: But some of our younger girls haven't seen that face.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Not what are you saying, win or lose? Just enjoy
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: the experience, enjoy the time.
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: I mean, that's what we're going down for. If we
- 1:09:24Speaker 8: win two games, it's a win for us. I mean,
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: it's a win.
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: There is.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Cody was just kind of alluding to the butterflies are
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: going to be flying, man, I mean, these girls will
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: will definitely have the jitters. What are you going to
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: say to them?
- 1:09:42Speaker 7: Oh? Boy, that's that's hard. I mean, I'm not going
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: to sleep all week, and I'm sure Cody's not. Just
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: have fun. Enjoy the moment, because not every athlete gets
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: to do this in Little League.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: There's gonna be enjoy it.
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: Take it in aask, enjoy it.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys are trying to do some fundraising here
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: to to foot the bill, which is not going to
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: be cheap to bring all these girls food, food and
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: lodging and transportation and registration fees and everything that goes
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: along with this. But there's can be baked sale today,
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: I understand over at the Waits River General Store.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: I think so.
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: I think it's either at the Waits River store or
- 1:10:26Speaker 8: the East Print store.
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: I mean they're pretty close.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Will you will you be baking in anything?
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: Probably not on an official Caste task there.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: So yeah, exactly how many brownies do you think you're
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: gonna put down in a thirty minute span?
- 1:10:48Speaker 7: I mean, I'd probably give Joey Chess not a run
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: for his money.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Listen, get out and support these girls. Get on the
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Connecticut Valley Little League Facebook page, make a donation right there.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: Even if you can't get to one of their big
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: sales or anything that's doing this week, I'm gonna be
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: paying attention. Uh, and I know some of the moms
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: are going to be letting me know of where they're
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: going to be fundraising this week to try to help
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: out with the costs of to offset the costs going
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: into this coming weekend. But man, good luck, Jody, Uh,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: you've done an outstanding job.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: You must be so proud already of these kids.
- 1:11:29Speaker 7: Oh I am. It's yes, super happy, super excited.
- 1:11:35Speaker 8: And if anybody sees these girls, give them a high five,
- 1:11:38Speaker 8: a pat on the back, say congratulations. Yeah, because they
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: put in so much work, practicing every day, every day,
- 1:11:46Speaker 8: listening to Cody and I all the time, it's awesome.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Well, just listening to you would would be enough for me.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: But here's the thing. You you guys, don't you guys,
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: you're not real easy on these on these girls. You're
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: not one of these coaches that's like, all right, it's
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: eighty three degrees. Practice is canceled.
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: No, because they play in it. I mean.
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: They're not going to cancel a game because of heat.
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: So it's just, you know, drink more fluids when it's hot.
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: We're easier on him.
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: There's a lot more water breaks, shade breaks.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Tody says, you guys even practice in the rain.
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: Oh yeah, we played in the rain. We played Saturday
- 1:12:32Speaker 8: State championship game in the rain. We gave up her
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: only run of the tournament. It was pouring.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: What happened? What happened when you gave up that run?
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: Oh we went on the rain bait break. We came
- 1:12:46Speaker 8: in the dugout. The girls are like a swater run.
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: What are we gonna do a little pep talk. I
- 1:12:54Speaker 8: don't think any of them are down about it. I
- 1:12:57Speaker 8: think they were okay with it, and they came out
- 1:13:01Speaker 8: after the rain delay and got the job done.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: It's it's not about making a mistake. It's about learning
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: the mistakes. And that's something I think you've pushed harder
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: than any any coach I've ever known.
- 1:13:16Speaker 7: And that's yeah.
- 1:13:18Speaker 8: You want the girls to do their first instinct, throw
- 1:13:21Speaker 8: the ball, and if that's wrong, we'll correct it later.
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Awesome, coach. Great job, man, congratulations on making it this far.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: We're gonna be doing all we can. We're gonna be
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: supporting you know, We're gonna be talking about you on
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: the air this week. We're gonna be pushing the Connecticut
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Valley Little League team all over the aired out page,
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: and we wish the best for you.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:13:46Speaker 7: Awesome.
- 1:13:48Speaker 8: The eight ten boys play the championship game tonight.
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: In Saint Johnsbury. Let's go CV district champion.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: That championship game is tonight, the.
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: District championship game. If they win that, they'll go to
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: the state.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, what time are we talking?
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Five thirty?
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: I think so?
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: I think?
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Excited for him, all right, good to know. Thanks Jody, Hey,

- 1:16:46Speaker 2: going on. We're also going to be talking about the
