- 0:08Third hour morning show with Threstin Scat. Good morning friends, Thanks for joining
- 0:12us wherever, however, we appreciate it. Jared over there with the producer
- 0:16to be named later running the radio broadcast, and I am thrilled as always
- 0:21to have with us. He's a friend of the radio program and we've gotten
- 0:24to know him over the many years that we've done the show through the Heritage
- 0:28Foundation. Hans von Spakowski joins us. Good morning, sir, how are
- 0:31you. I'm doing just fine. Before we get to the topic at hand,
- 0:37which is Project twenty twenty five, just your thoughts on what happened over
- 0:41the weekend. Well, you know, I was glad to see I mean,
- 0:46look, I was just shocked, like all of America was at it.
- 0:50And thank god the split second decision of the present turn his head saved
- 0:57his life. But you know Joe Biden last night saying no violence is no
- 1:03place and we need to lower the temperature of the political rhetoric, well he
- 1:10needs to talk to his speech writers. You know, it's Joe Biden that
- 1:14has called Donald Trump a dictator, a threat to democracy. The New Republic,
- 1:21you know, which is filled with with Joe Biden's political allies. The
- 1:25writers there, you know, put out an entire journal comparing him to Adol
- 1:32Pedler and saying he's a fascist. I mean, the high temperature of the
- 1:37rhetoric has been almost all coming from Joe Biden's side of the political aisle.
- 1:42So yeah, they should lower the temperature. And look, it's one thing
- 1:47to disagree with a policy, but to call somebody a fascist, a dictator,
- 1:53a threat to democracy, that's the kind of thing that is that engenders
- 1:59violence. Hans I couldn't help but take note of the fact that in the
- 2:05hours subsequent to the event, the mainstream media stumbled all over itself, first
- 2:09talking about loud noises and only begrudgingly being called to the carpet and had to
- 2:17correct itself and say, yeah, it was an assassination attempt. It's we're
- 2:23fighting forces here that are not just evil, but they're on every front.
- 2:32Yeah. And look, as another example of this, Benny Thompson, you
- 2:37know, representative from Mississippi. Yeah, he fired one of his staffers over
- 2:43the weekend who put out a tweet saying, boy, you know, basically
- 2:49that she wished this guy had had better aims. Now, yeah, Benny
- 2:53Thompson fired her. But as far as I know, he hasn't withdrawn the
- 2:58bill that he entered oost that would withdraw Secret Service protection from Donald Trump.
- 3:07So you know, that's that's the kind of thing we've we've been dealing with
- 3:09with all of this. By the way, preston weird historical coincidence. The
- 3:16last time that a former president who was running for another term someone attempted to
- 3:25assassinate him was nineteen twelve Teddy Roosevelt in Milwaukee. Oh my, just what
- 3:35we need that kind of irony? Tell yeah. And by the way,
- 3:39the only reason Teddy Roosevelt survived he was hit in the chest by a gunman.
- 3:46And the only reasons he survived again one of these weird coincidences. The
- 3:51same way Donald Trump turned his head the last second, the bullet hit his
- 3:57folded up speech at his glass US case which he had in his pocket over
- 4:02his chest. It actually provides a segue to this week. We will have
- 4:10to transition at some point from the events of the past to the events of
- 4:14the now and the future. And the Republican National Convention is going to begin
- 4:18in just a few short hours. And Hans von Spakowski with me from the
- 4:21Heritage Foundation, Hans. If you google Project twenty twenty five, there is
- 4:29nothing but the typical responses and pushbacks and how it's going to destroy democracy,
- 4:35which candidly wouldn't upset me because we're a constitutional republic. But let's talk about
- 4:42it. Why is this being so smeared? Well, look, this has
- 4:48been out. We started this project in twenty twenty two and it's been out
- 4:54for more than a year. Why would all of a sudden this come up
- 4:59like this? Why would Joe Biden personally be attacking it his speech that he
- 5:03gave. It's a distraction being put forward by Democrats from the mental and physical
- 5:13disabilities of their nominee. It's trying to distract people from that. And look,
- 5:17but look this actually ties into what I was talking about before. Here's
- 5:21what Project twenty twenty five is. In twenty twenty two, we got together
- 5:28literally several hundred individuals, all from over one hundred and twenty conservative think tanks
- 5:36and other organizations, and we said, look, if you were put in
- 5:40charge of the federal government, how would you run each of the agencies in
- 5:45the very large department. And what we came up with was a nine hundred
- 5:48page policy book, and it's no secret. People can go to Project twenty
- 5:55twenty five dot org and take a look at it, and there's a chapter
- 5:58on every department, Department of Justice, the Education Department, saying how those
- 6:03departments need to be reformed and run. But the way this ties into what
- 6:10we were talking about before, Preston is, Look, it's one thing for
- 6:15the Biden campaign and Democrats to take specific proposals in that thing and say,
- 6:19well, we disagree with it. I mean, for example, on American
- 6:23energy, we say we should authorize more oil and gas leases, we do
- 6:29more drilling. You know, if they want to disagree with that, fine,
- 6:32But instead the Biden campaign put out this long list of things that they
- 6:41claimed it does, almost all of which are totally false their fabrications. I
- 6:48give you just one or two quick examples. The Biden campaign put out a
- 6:53list that said that, oh, this would ban no fault divorce is nowhere
- 7:00mentioned in the nine hundred page policy book. In fact, you know how
- 7:06the federal government should be run. Divorces a state issue. So they lied.
- 7:14I mean another one is that they claim it would ban all contraceptives across
- 7:19the country. Again, that is a total lie. They just made that
- 7:25up. The contraceptives aren't mentioned anywhere in this proposal, So they're trying to
- 7:31generate this crazy, bizarre criticism of it by essentially telling lies rather than having
- 7:41a substantive argument about what's really in it. But that's kind of the pattern
- 7:46of illiberalism. They attack personally and just flat make things up, as opposed
- 7:51to have to stand there and have a discussion or debate on the issues at
- 7:56hand. Yeah, unfortunately that's true, and we see it in What's happening
- 8:03here. By the way, I had to laugh when I saw that this
- 8:07list, this long list that had been put out by the Biden campaign,
- 8:13was repeated by in a twitter by Mark Hamill. You know who played Luke
- 8:18Skywalker the Force. He's gone to the dark side, just as fake as
- 8:28his lightsaber was in the movie. Well he's gone to the dark side.
- 8:33Hans, what can we say? I mean, it was the inevitable draw
- 8:37of his dad. I suppose it got the better of him. Hans standby
- 8:39Hans von Spakowsky with me here this morning on the Morning Show. The project
- 8:46is broken down. It has four pillars. He mentioned. I've gone through
- 8:52some of the nine hundred pages it's broken into various sections like taking the reins
- 8:58of government, common defense, general welfare, media, the economy. I
- 9:05mean, the list goes on and on. You can find it very easily
- 9:09just look up Project twenty twenty five, but maybe put Heritage Foundation on it.
- 9:13Otherwise you're probably gonna get sucked into the vortex of lies. Tell mesla
- 9:18on your phone with the iHeartRadio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa,
- 9:22Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos. This says Chrisler and Ihearts radiozation.
- 9:28It shouldn't surprise any of you that are writing in, that are texting me,
- 9:35that are listening that reports to Donald Trump's reaction to Project twenty twenty five
- 9:41might not be one hundred percent accurate. Hans von Spakowski joins me with a
- 9:46Heritage Foundation and he took part in Project twenty twenty five. The former president's
- 9:52reaction to this was in fact what Hans well. His reaction was, Look,
- 9:58I haven't been consulted this, I don't know what's in it, et
- 10:01cetera, which is no surprise. It's a nine hundred policy book. He's
- 10:09in campaign mode. Nobody would expect that he's read it all so basically he
- 10:13was reactive citizens saying, well, look I haven't read it, I don't
- 10:16know what's in it. But then, this wasn't written for Donald Trump.
- 10:22This was written for whatever whatever person gets elected as president in November, with
- 10:31the hope that that individual would take this and use it as a basically a
- 10:39strategic plan on how to run the federal government. Now, if Joe Biden
- 10:43is re elected, he's not likely to do it. We're hoping that they
- 10:50will take this as a general guide for frankly, a more effective, a
- 10:56more efficient, but also a government that is more protective of Americans liberties and
- 11:03freedoms. Let's talk about the Republican National Committee and its platform. Are you
- 11:11seeing any of what has been suggested in Project twenty twenty five showing up in
- 11:16the stated platform? Oh yeah, Look, there's a lot of there's a
- 11:20lot of things that are saying. But keep in mind that the platform,
- 11:24the platform is just kind of a general outline on a lot of different issues,
- 11:30whereas Project twenty twenty five is a deetailed plan for every government agency and
- 11:39department, from the Department of Justices, Department of Defense. I mean,
- 11:43there are very specific proposals for example, in the Department of Defense chapter written
- 11:50by defense experts saying, here's how DoD needs to be reformed. Here are
- 11:56things they ought to be doing. Here are the things they shouldn't be doing.
- 12:00That the platform doesn't get into any kind of detail like that. In
- 12:05your mind, where are we with regard to Let's just kind of assume that
- 12:13Donald Trump is going to take office. Prayerfully that's going to be the case.
- 12:20Do you think he learned from his first term to surround himself with better
- 12:22people? Because if there was one fault I would put on him, besides
- 12:26not dealing with the debt, it would be surrounding himself with people that maybe
- 12:31he shouldn't have. The answer is a big yes with an exclamation point.
- 12:39But that's also part of Projects twenty twenty five is Look, I don't think
- 12:43people understand what an a possible job transition teams do. In two months,
- 12:50they are supposed to fill several thousand political positions, which is next to impossible.
- 12:56So the other thing that we've been doing is we've set up a database
- 13:01the Airtage found Base, and they set up a database of personnel and we
- 13:07are reviewing, vetting, verifying these individuals, so that when a new president
- 13:15comes in, they'll have a ready database of personnel people pre vetted that they
- 13:20can then choose from to fill these slots, and hopefully that will make a
- 13:26difference in not only the entire administration, but the first making the first six
- 13:33months very effective, so that you get people in on day one who actually
- 13:39know what they're doing and have a plan. What do you think if you
- 13:45were to just summarize the entire project twenty twenty five thing what stands out is
- 13:50singularly the most important thing getting us back to what the Framers believe in,
- 14:01which was limited government. Yes, look, we need a federal government,
- 14:05one that deals with the common defense, public welfare, securing our border.
- 14:11But the federal government these days is doing so many other things that it shouldn't
- 14:18be doing, doesn't need to be doing that, incruding on state state governments
- 14:22and local government, and we need to bring it back within the parameters of
- 14:28where the Founders wanted it to be. Do you feel as though, if,
- 14:31for if somehow the Republicans get control of the House and the Senate and
- 14:37the White House, they have the nerve to do it. Yes, I
- 14:43think they would. And what we're hoping happens is Look, it's not the
- 14:46first time Heritage did this. The first time we did something like this was
- 14:50when Ronald Reagan got elected and we handed Ronald Reagan copies of our policy book
- 14:58back then, and at his very first cabinet meeting, he handed a coffee
- 15:03to every one of his new cabinet secretaries and said, I want you to
- 15:07read this, and I want you to follow these recommendations. And we're hoping
- 15:11the same thing will happen with the next president. Hans is always thanks for
- 15:16the time this morning. I greatly appreciate you allowing us to infringe upon it
- 15:20anytime. Thank you, sir Hans Vonsbokowski with us this morning, twenty seven
- 15:24minutes after the hour, come back with the big story and my thoughts on
- 15:30all that happened on Saturday this week at Kevin's
