- 3:22SPEAKER_07: Like one time he came home with a cat.
- 3:26SPEAKER_07: I remember because I was he my grandmother was babysitting us.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_07: And he walked in and the cat was sitting on his shoulder.

- 4:15SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: Meanwhile, there's all these families around where he works.
- 4:19SPEAKER_10: They're like Friscane.
- 4:23SPEAKER_10: I thought he was just here.
- 4:30SPEAKER_07: I think the cat I think the universe just gives you cats.
- 4:35SPEAKER_07: Like umbrellas.
- 4:36SPEAKER_07: Nobody owns an umbrella, but you have one.
- 4:38SPEAKER_07: You don't know where it came from.
- 4:40SPEAKER_07: You don't ever remember buying one, but you have an umbrella.
- 4:43SPEAKER_07: I think the I think I think the universe just gives you cats and umbrellas.
- 4:48SPEAKER_03: That's an interesting perspective.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: I never thought about that.
- 4:50SPEAKER_07: That's the name of the episode.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: An interesting perspective?
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: No.
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: Oh, cats and cats.
- 4:55SPEAKER_07: The universe gives you cats and umbrellas.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: I like that.
- 5:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 5:01SPEAKER_07: But I I really believe that.
- 5:02SPEAKER_07: I think I think God loves cats and umbrellas.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: I don't think God loves cats.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: I think cats are from hell.
- 5:08SPEAKER_07: No, no, he he created cats, so he loves cats.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: So I think they're evil.
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: Well, that's your opinion.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: That's not true.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: You you're a dog person.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: I think most cats are evil.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: The cats that I had were not.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: Bozo was not evil.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: No.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, because I had remember Gomer and Hobbes?
- 5:27SPEAKER_07: Oh, Gomer and Hobbes, yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_07: They were they were Satan spawns.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: I didn't think they were evil.
- 5:33SPEAKER_03: They were just odd.
- 5:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, they were well, again, they were ca they were strays.
- 5:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think that was part of it.
- 5:38SPEAKER_07: But you know, yeah.
- 5:39SPEAKER_07: You know, they weren't, you know, it wasn't like your dad was stealing them from work.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: Did you ever go back going back to Atari?
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: Did you graduate from Atari?
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Did you have like a Commodore 64?
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: No.
- 5:52SPEAKER_07: That was the only thing we ever had.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: So yeah, so no Nintendo or anything like that.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: No.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: No.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Us either.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_07: No, uh we went from Atari and then like decades later I bought a PlayStation.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, did you?
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: For myself.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:05SPEAKER_07: And that was it.
- 6:05SPEAKER_07: And then I graduated from PlayStation to Xbox.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, see, we had we had uh the Amiga flight simulator, and that was and after that it was it.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: We didn't play any games, we didn't have any any systems until my wife and I bought a Wii for the kids.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: Um which we don't even use that anymore.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: You know, and now you know, of course, Eli has a PlayStation and Finn doesn't really play games, you know.
- 6:36SPEAKER_07: Well F Finn's an industrialist.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: He is pretty much.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: He's like the next Rockefeller.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's gonna build like a city or something.
- 6:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he's just you know, he's gonna be like the next, you know, he's gonna be like Bill Gates and uh, you know, Rockefeller is a good thing.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: There I I take that back.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: There was a time Gatefeller.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: In I think in early middle school when we couldn't get Finn off his iPad, because you know they had the iPads they could bring home.
- 7:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: And we we were used to yell and all that, get off the iPad, blah blah blah.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: And he was playing a game.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Guess what the game was?
- 7:08SPEAKER_07: Probably Minecraft.
- 7:09SPEAKER_07: It was.
- 7:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was because he was.
- 7:10SPEAKER_07: You can build stuff.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: He was building things, yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: Right, exactly.
- 7:12SPEAKER_07: No, I totally get that.
- 7:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that just that's just how he's wired.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, easily.
- 7:17SPEAKER_07: But I remember a cousin my cousin, you know my cousin Lynn.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_07: They had an Atari with like a million games.
- 7:25SPEAKER_07: And I think I think maybe that's where dad got the idea for us to get an Atari.
- 7:30SPEAKER_07: Because every time we went to their house, we'd be playing Atari.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 7:33SPEAKER_07: So I don't know.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: Speaking of Finn, uh, he texted me right after we got home from the game tonight.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: He said, We need to make a day when Hannah and I can go on your podcast.
- 7:45SPEAKER_04: Oh actually, that would be pretty great.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: I said, that would mean she'd have to come downstairs.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: Ain't happening.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: And he goes, Well, Doug goes down there.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: I haven't answered him back yet, but I'm like, Yeah, but Doug is Doug.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: Doug doesn't care.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Well, he would say, Hannah doesn't care.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: And I believe that.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: I believe I bet she wouldn't care.
- 8:06SPEAKER_07: It's a it's a basement, it's supposed to be messy.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: I believe that she doesn't care.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: Um but I care.
- 8:13SPEAKER_07: I I think you need to get over that.
- 8:14SPEAKER_07: Oh I think actually that would be fun.
- 8:16SPEAKER_03: I know I think it would be fun to have them on for sure.
- 8:18SPEAKER_07: I think that would be fun.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: I don't know what we would talk about, but I don't well we figured we'd figure something out.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, so uh I drove them over to a careboot soccer game uh the other day.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: And so it was it was Finn, one of his friends, and and Hannah.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: And boys, I had them in stitches uh all the way over there.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: It was so funny.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: And it's one of those things that you had to be there.
- 8:42SPEAKER_07: So if I tell the story Was this the swearing thing that you're talking about?
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: So I already told you about it.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: You told me on the way to the gig Freddy night.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's right.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't funny when I told you, but in the moment it was it was hilarious.
- 8:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, it was yeah, I totally get that.
- 8:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we all have those moments where you're just like you say something really funny, and then later you're like, Hey, very you know Steve.
- 9:07SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I told him this, and we were laughing so hard.
- 9:10SPEAKER_07: And my always like, that's not funny.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's good.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're stupid.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: That's funny, yeah.
- 9:14SPEAKER_07: You're stupid, dog.
- 9:16SPEAKER_07: And I'm like, Yeah, I know.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Um, all right, let's get into the podcast.

- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Well, you were interested.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: It was probably because everybody was talking about it, and you're like, I better I better check it out.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: Oh, you know what it was?
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: See what this is.
- 11:38SPEAKER_07: That's Mike Bradstreet's fault.

- 11:41SPEAKER_07: Well, no.
- 11:42SPEAKER_07: I was his one-on-one.

- 12:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah, as long as he didn't have to, you know, he could do work.
- 12:36SPEAKER_07: I mean, he could do all kinds of stuff.
- 12:37SPEAKER_07: He just it was just school.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: He didn't wasn't interested in it.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: No, he was a good kid.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: I like Mike.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Definitely, definitely a good kid.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: So yeah, so rest in peace to those those folks.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: Um, I do have a couple of things that we could talk about that Ultimate Classic Rock.com has put forth.
- 12:57SPEAKER_07: Oh, I can't I bet it's amazing.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: Well, I think you will think it's amazing.
- 13:03SPEAKER_07: What?
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: And I think you're gonna want a couple of minutes to think about it.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: Because you know how they do their big four.
- 13:10SPEAKER_07: Oh, right.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: So we have another big four.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, another big four.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: Another big four.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: So we've done what is it with four?
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: I think maybe they're going off the whole big four uh of thrash.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 13:22SPEAKER_07: That was like years ago.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: I know, but I don't know.
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: Um so far behind.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: So so that we've we've had the big four songwriter duos.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the big four guitarists, uh prog rock.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: I think that's it, right?
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: That's all we've done so far.
- 13:39SPEAKER_07: It seems like there's something else, but maybe not.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: So this is the big four rhythm section.
- 13:49SPEAKER_07: So like biggest drums.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: I'm thinking.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: So let's think about that for a second before we even go to the thing.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Because I would be interested to to to hear what you think your big four or big five or you know, whatever, however, or b or the just maybe you the greatest rhythm section.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: There's so many though.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: I know there are so many.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: You you gotta go with well, you gotta go.
- 14:16SPEAKER_07: The top of my list, Getty Lee and uh Neil Pearrett.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: I I knew you were gonna say that.
- 14:21SPEAKER_07: And I would agree.
- 14:22SPEAKER_07: Number one.
- 14:22SPEAKER_07: Uh Keith Moon and John Entwistle.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 14:26SPEAKER_07: Um John Paul Jones and John uh John Bottom.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:32SPEAKER_07: Uh I would go Cliff Burton and Lars Gilrick.
- 14:37SPEAKER_07: Would you?
- 14:38SPEAKER_07: They would be probably way down on the list, but Cliff Burton.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:42SPEAKER_07: You can't you can't deny the genius in the bass there.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:46SPEAKER_07: Um I put in there.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: So so far you've you've done Rush?
- 14:53SPEAKER_07: Rush, Metallica, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin, The Who.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: The Who.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Not Bill Lyman and Charlie Watts.
- 15:03SPEAKER_07: Well, Charlie Watts, yeah.
- 15:06SPEAKER_07: I mean, the dude that dude is solid.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: Ringo was solid.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: Ringo and Maka?
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: I know it's tough.
- 15:14SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 15:15SPEAKER_07: I mean, you know, like you can't deny both the you know but it wasn't nobody was nobody was fixated on the bass and drums and the Beatles.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:26SPEAKER_07: It was like the pole package.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_07: But yeah, definitely Paul McCartney Ringo Star.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: Now I haven't looked.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: What it was who are the big four?
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: Of rock.
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: It does say rock.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: Because I was gonna go uh older than that.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Who played drums with Duck Dunn?
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: Do you know?
- 15:47SPEAKER_07: Oh, Al Jackson.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Al Jackson and Donald Duck Dunn.
- 15:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:51SPEAKER_07: From uh uh uh Oh, good Lord.
- 15:55SPEAKER_07: Stax uh Stax uh Well it's Booker T and the MGs.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: Booker T and the MGs, yes.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: But they they they were also session players.
- 16:03SPEAKER_03: Uh well, I mean uh Well, look at the funk brothers.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: James James Jameson.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 16:09SPEAKER_07: Uh and uh but there was like three drummers.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: A lot of drummers, yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: Well, who who Hal Blaine and Oh Hal Blaine and anybody and anybody, yeah with a record girl.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: I I think they're talking about I think they're talking about like just like art, like bands.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, Rush has to be up there.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Led Zeppelin has to be up there.
- 16:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 16:31SPEAKER_07: The Who.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: The Who has to be up there.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Are we m who are we missing?
- 16:38SPEAKER_07: Well, we did say McCartney and Star.
- 16:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 16:42SPEAKER_07: But I don't I don't think they're gonna be on that list.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: I don't think they are either.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: So um I can't think of anybody else.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: I can't think of anybody else.
- 16:50SPEAKER_07: None that come, you know, that stand out.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Stand out.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: So let's see what they said.
- 16:55SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: So who are the rock rhythm sections?
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, look at that.
- 17:01SPEAKER_07: Well, what do you oh that's the entire Jimi Hendrix experience?
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: We are right on a couple of them.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
- 17:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we knew that was.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: From Led Zeppelin.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: And I don't think these are in any order.
- 17:12SPEAKER_07: No, I don't.
- 17:13SPEAKER_07: No, yeah, I was just there for, yeah.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: Um Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding from Jimi Hendrix.
- 17:19SPEAKER_07: Okay, yeah.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: I never I never I never would have put that on.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: I don't disagree with it.
- 17:23SPEAKER_07: But no, I don't either, but yeah.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:25SPEAKER_07: But again, that's like, you know, it was like the whole thing.
- 17:29SPEAKER_07: You know, nobody nobody ever like um singled them out as like, you know, it was all just about the whole thing.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Uh you same can be said for the police.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: So it would be Stuart Copeland and Sting.
- 17:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I never thought of that.
- 17:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_07: All I can't from White Man Can't Jump.
- 17:50SPEAKER_07: They were Wesley Snipes didn't believe that Jimi Hendrix's band was white.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: I don't remember that.
- 17:57SPEAKER_07: Woody Harrelson's like, go.
- 17:58SPEAKER_07: They were white.
- 17:59SPEAKER_07: No, they weren't.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: Um Keith Moon and John Edwistle.
- 18:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there we go.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: See.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: And finally their f their final big boy big four with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman.
- 18:12SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 18:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: I don't know that I agree with that.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: I don't agree with that.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Charlie Watts, yes.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: Bill Watts hasn't been in the stones for years.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: 20 25, 30 years.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Something like that.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 18:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I wouldn't have gone with that, but whatever.
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: They they they always put one in there that's like notice that Getty and Neil Peart are not even on that list.
- 18:32SPEAKER_07: Well, maybe well, I mean, no well, other than uh Jimi Hendrix.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:36SPEAKER_07: Experience.
- 18:37SPEAKER_07: I mean they were a trio, but yeah, I'm not surprised.
- 18:40SPEAKER_07: What about Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker?
- 18:43SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 18:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 18:47SPEAKER_07: Come on.
- 18:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah, there's so many good ones.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: I would have put Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker in there before Charlie Watson didn't get it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: Way before.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: And Neil Pearrett and Getty Lee as well.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so that that's kind of uh, I don't know, anticlimactic, I guess.
- 19:00SPEAKER_07: Well, yeah, but considering the source, it's not a surprise.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: So I suppose that's true.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Uh, and this is the other one I thought was kind of neat.
- 19:12SPEAKER_03: Classic rock's 20 worst mistakes.
- 19:16SPEAKER_04: Yes, I want to read that.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: So very interested in this.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: So, first on this list, number 20, Billy Squire thinks Rock Me Tonight is a good idea.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: Do you remember the video for this?
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: There's speculation that the video for this song is what ruined Billy Squire's career.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Do you remember the video for this song?
- 19:36SPEAKER_07: I don't remember the video at all.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, it's funny because I for I keep forgetting that you had country cable for a long time, so you never had a I never had MTV, man.
- 19:43SPEAKER_07: I don't know, I don't know anything, you know.
- 19:45SPEAKER_07: When people talk, you know, when people wax nostalgically about MTV, I'm like, meh.
- 19:50SPEAKER_07: I have no idea.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: Well, so this song was a great song.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: It's a great song.
- 19:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 19:56unknown: Right.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: So I want you to see the video.
- 20:02SPEAKER_07: Texting has been broken for years by Apple.
- 20:05SPEAKER_07: Those blurry videos.
- 20:07SPEAKER_07: Broken text.
- 20:08SPEAKER_07: I saw this, I saw this.
- 20:09SPEAKER_07: Oh, I was watching um oh, what was I watching the other night?
- 20:14SPEAKER_07: I was watching college football and this commercial coming on.
- 20:16SPEAKER_07: I I still can't figure out what it's about.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: Oh I don't know.
- 20:20SPEAKER_07: Is it is it Apple and Android?
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: I have I have no idea.
- 20:26SPEAKER_07: What's going on here?
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: Okay, so this arguably is what ruined Billy Squire's career.
- 20:34SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Uh I'm gonna you know the song.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: The song is great.
- 20:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:44SPEAKER_07: He's not naked, is he?
- 20:46SPEAKER_07: No, no.
- 20:48SPEAKER_07: Hey, is that the same scent from Dawkins Breaking the Chains video?
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: Teddy or Tegum is the one that uh that choreographed it.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: Choreographed and directed the video.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: And then he put him on a picture.
- 22:05SPEAKER_07: Was that the turn he was playing with earlier?
- 22:07SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 22:08SPEAKER_07: Well, it's a good thing he still had it.
- 22:13SPEAKER_07: This is a terrible video.
- 22:16SPEAKER_07: This makes me wax nostalgic for the docking breaking the chain video.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: So it's ch it was just the way he carried himself in the video that's terrible.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: People are thinking that this is well, actually, let's say what they wrote.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: This is in 1984.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: So it turns out the buggles were right, at least as it pertains to Billy Squire.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Before releasing the Rock Me Tonight video, Squire had scored three top 40 hits, including his number 17 Smash, The Stroke.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: After releasing the Rock Me Tonight video, Squire never got any higher than 58.
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: For what it's worth, Squire said he had the last laugh, Pink Tank Top Notwithstanding, by getting to retire early.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: That's I guess that's one way to look at it.
- 22:56SPEAKER_07: Well, it's my understanding that he's a rich boy anyway.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, was he?
- 23:01SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and Daddy gave him the money to become a recording artist.
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 23:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:06SPEAKER_07: No, I didn't know that's my understanding.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: I didn't know that at all.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: I do know this.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: He's very talented.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: He is very talented.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: He's got a great voice, great songwriter, great guitar player.
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: That video.
- 23:17SPEAKER_07: So for him to retire was like no big deal because, you know, he was he was sad.
- 23:21SPEAKER_07: I that's my understanding.
- 23:23SPEAKER_07: I don't know how true that is.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 23:24SPEAKER_07: Don't quote me.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 23:27SPEAKER_07: You know.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Number 19, John Fogarty's bandmates take over a credence album.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: So as you know, CCR issued five platinum selling top ten albums.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Between 69 and 70, I'll read that again.
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: Between 69 and 70, five platinum selling albums.
- 23:45SPEAKER_07: In one year.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: In one year.
- 23:46SPEAKER_07: That's crazy, man.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: Um hurdling chief songwriter John Fogerty to wider fame.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: Then his bandmates decided they needed a bigger share of the spotlight.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: One quit while the others wrote the bulk of the songs on Mardi Gras.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: A Way to Kill the Buzz and the Band.
- 24:01SPEAKER_03: Because that album was not well received.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: And that was in 1972.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: Number 18, Bob Dylan deliberately tries to piss us off.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: Exhausted from the attention he garnered during his 60s era heyday, Bob Dylan said, Well, F it.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: He literally said, Well, F it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: That's not hyperbole.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Self-portrait followed, an album he admitted was meant to be something his fans could not relate to and would not possibly like.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: It worked.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: So he purposely put out a bad album.
- 24:31SPEAKER_07: Why am I not surprised?
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: Did you know this?
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: Did you know that Didi Ramon was a rapper?
- 24:39SPEAKER_08: I did not know that.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: The late Didi Ramon was many things, including the Ramon's co-founding bassist and their most prolific songwriter, speaking of great rhythm sections.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: His best known songs included Rockaway Beach, 53rd and 3rd, and Bonzo Goes to Bitburg, the latter of which was named Independent Single of the Year in 86.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: So, of course, Ramon immediately transformed himself into rapper D.D.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: King to record Standing in the Spotlight.
- 25:09SPEAKER_03: I did not know that.
- 25:10SPEAKER_07: Well, I mean, you know, the Beastie Boys were a punk rock band before they before they became rappers.
- 25:16SPEAKER_07: So I mean, why not?
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: I'm not going to read all of these, but number sixteen, the Grammys Ignore the Cars and Elvis Costello.
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: That was in 1979.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: Number 15, in 2000, Metallica goes after their own fans.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: You've probably never heard I Disappear, which actually disappeared after arriving on the soundtrack for Mission Impossible 2, but not before leaking on an early file sharing service.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: Metallica lashed out at their own fan base, asking Napster to ban more than 30,000 users after turning over their names, and the rest is history.
- 25:48SPEAKER_07: It's actually a pretty great song.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: Oh, I agree.
- 25:51SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 25:51SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: Number fourteen, Peter Frampton in the Bee Gees film Sgt.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Peppers.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's a huge mistake.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: We don't even have to go there.
- 25:57SPEAKER_07: Nope.
- 25:57SPEAKER_07: That's all he needs to say about that.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: Number thirteen, Neil Young loses it in the eighties.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Geffen undoubtedly signed Neil Young in the early eighties with hopes of issuing, you know, Neil Young records.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: Instead, he turned in a series of strange genre records beginning with the craft work-inspired and truly weird trans.
- 26:16SPEAKER_03: By the time it was over, and this is absolutely true, Geffen had sued Neil Young for not sounding like, you know, Neil Young.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: In 1962, meet Dick Rowe, the Decca Records AR man, who rejected a demo tape of 15 songs by a then unknown group called The Beatles.
- 26:38SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: He told manager Brian Epstein that the reason was simple.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: Guitar groups are on their way out.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: Instead, Rose signed those world famous hitmakers Brian Poole and the Tremolos.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: I do like the Tremolos.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: But is Brian Poole in the Tremolos?
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: He must have been he must have been.
- 26:55SPEAKER_03: Guns N' Roses goes on and as Axel Rose's backing band.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Uh that must be Chinese Democracy.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Yep, they're talking about Chinese Democracy.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Uh burning through a mountain of cash.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: Geffen eventually offered Rose a one million dollar bonus to hurry along production of the album.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: He finally released it almost a decade later, and nobody remembers a song from it.
- 27:14SPEAKER_07: I don't even have that um.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: Number ten, Ticketmaster thinks dynamic pricing is a good idea.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Bots have overrun the concert ticket business by automatically purchasing the best seats for money grubbing resellers.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: Ticketmaster solution was so-called dynamic pricing, which would pair cost with availability.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: Bruce Springsteen got caught up in this wrongheaded scheme when he announced a long-awaited return to the road.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: Turns out Ticketmaster's solution for ridiculously inflated prices was to ridiculously inflate prices.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: Brilliant.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Number nine, the Sex Pistols thinks Sid Vicious, I saw Sex Pistols thinks Sid Vicious is a good idea.
- 27:51SPEAKER_07: That was a terrible idea.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: That's all we need to say about that.
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: Number eight, Roger Waters dares Pink Floyd to go on.
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: And they did.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: They did.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: To unbelievable heights.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: Number seven.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, here we go.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: Worst mistake.
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: Number seven, Van Halen hires the extreme guy for some reason.
- 28:10SPEAKER_10: For some reason.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: I do like when they write this.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: This is 1998.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: Their last album with Sammy Hager was a dud.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: I didn't think it was a dud, but it wasn't great, but it wasn't a dud.
- 28:22SPEAKER_03: Their attempt to reunite with David Lee Roth was worse, so why not burn the whole thing down with Gary Sharone, right?
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: Well, and I don't think they burned the whole thing down, but it was not.
- 28:33SPEAKER_07: Well, they definitely, you know, started the fire.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: It was not a great idea.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: No.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: Number six, U2 tries to make you listen to U2.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Do you remember this?
- 28:41SPEAKER_07: I remember that.
- 28:42SPEAKER_07: Everybody got it.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: Everybody got it in their iTunes.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then the engineers were forced to create a new one-click delete function because people didn't want it in their iTunes.
- 28:53SPEAKER_07: It's like if you like U2, yeah, sure, it'd be great, but not everybody's a huge U2 fan, even though he's my cousin.
- 29:01SPEAKER_03: Um, this is funny the way they put this.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Number five, KISS decides to try Prague.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: In 1981.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: KISS was over by the early 80s.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: So was Progressive Rock.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: That's all they wrote.
- 29:14SPEAKER_07: Don't tell that to Rush.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: Number four, Woodstock goes up in flames on its 30th anniversary.
- 29:19SPEAKER_03: I remember that.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: That was terrible.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: That was unbelievable.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: That was terrible.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Uh number three, John Lennon says something about Jesus.
- 29:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that was a bad idea.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: That was a bad idea.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: I get what he was saying.
- 29:31SPEAKER_07: You know what's ironic?
- 29:32SPEAKER_07: What?
- 29:33SPEAKER_07: All these groups that have said they were better than the Beatles have just like gone away.
- 29:37SPEAKER_07: Like the Spice Girls.
- 29:38SPEAKER_07: Spice girls were like, oh yeah, we're better than the Beatles.
- 29:40SPEAKER_07: Gone.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 29:41SPEAKER_07: There was somebody else I was reading about that did the same thing.
- 29:43SPEAKER_07: Oh, it was Millie Vanilli.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 29:45SPEAKER_07: Millie Vanilli said.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: I saw that documentary.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Did you see that documentary?
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: It was really good.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: It was good.
- 29:49SPEAKER_07: It was very good.
- 29:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 29:50SPEAKER_07: You felt bad for them.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: You did.
- 29:51SPEAKER_07: You really did.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 29:52SPEAKER_07: Because they were kind of puppets.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: They just wanted to move money.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: It makes you wonder how many people in the industry today are puppets.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: And when they just Most of them?
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: But no, when he what we're talking about is what John when John Lennon said in a press conference, you know, I think we're we're bigger than Jesus right now.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: And I it's hyperbole.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: I mean, he uh he was he was saying that their popularity is just it seems like we're more popular than Jesus.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: He wasn't saying we are.
- 30:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he said he wasn't saying that they're better than Jesus or you know they're you know beetles are more important than Jesus.
- 30:30SPEAKER_07: He was just saying they're he they're more popular than Jesus.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: And basically that it seems that way.
- 30:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: So I I get what he's saying.
- 30:37SPEAKER_07: And then the entire Bible belt went up in flames with Beatle stuff.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: Uh number two, Jerry Lee Lewis marries his underaged cousin.
- 30:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's not a good idea.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: Not a good idea.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I put it at number two, but it's pretty up there.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: Number one, the Rolling Stones hire a biker gang for concert security.
- 30:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the candlestick concert when they hit the Hell's Angels.
- 31:01SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 31:01SPEAKER_07: That would be killed like two people.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: That would be a bad idea.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: So that's it.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: Super smart.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: Oh, look at this.
- 31:07SPEAKER_07: What's that?
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: Tawny Catane's Enchanting Rock and Roll History.
- 31:12SPEAKER_07: Did you know she was on the cover of Rats album?
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: It's right there.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: I didn't know that was her.
- 31:16SPEAKER_07: Well, she was on the cover of their first album, too, and they were like, they threw like rats on her legs.
- 31:21SPEAKER_07: That's her legs.
- 31:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 31:23SPEAKER_07: Well, it's funny because uh I saw that documentary, Nothing But a Good Time.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: I didn't watch it, I didn't finish it.
- 31:28SPEAKER_07: Well, I was so I liked it so much I bought the actual book and I've been reading the book.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:33SPEAKER_07: Which is way better than the documentary.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: Of course it is.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: Always is.
- 31:36SPEAKER_07: But anyway, they were talking to they they have like little snippets.
- 31:39SPEAKER_07: The whole all the chapters are snippets like of them interviewing all these people.
- 31:43SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 31:43SPEAKER_07: And Stephen Percy said that they had hired Tawny Katane to be on the alb the first rat album.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_07: And they and they bought there was a place where you could rent rats.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:56SPEAKER_07: You know, whatever.
- 31:57SPEAKER_07: Pet rat like pet rat.
- 31:58SPEAKER_07: Sure.
- 31:59SPEAKER_07: Well, they they they they said they bought five white rats, but on the cover there's five white rats and a rat and a black one.
- 32:06SPEAKER_07: He was like, we have no idea where the black one came from.
- 32:09SPEAKER_07: So that's funny.
- 32:13SPEAKER_07: It was really funny.
- 32:14SPEAKER_07: That's funny.
- 32:14SPEAKER_07: It's that's why I like about the book because it's full of little funny little anecdotes like that.
- 32:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_07: And it's friggin' hilarious.
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 32:22SPEAKER_07: And they got a lot of good stuff to say about Don Dawkins.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:26SPEAKER_07: Like he was a big help in like helping a lot of these other like bands get you know deals and stuff.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:32SPEAKER_07: You know, he's not and he was he's a mechanic.
- 32:35SPEAKER_07: Did you know that?
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: Don Dawkins?
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: I did not know that.
- 32:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_07: He said when he was when he was trying to start out, he would buy like junk cars, and he and his brother would fix them up and sell them for like, you know, they would flip cars basically.
- 32:47SPEAKER_07: That's how he paid rent.
- 32:48SPEAKER_07: Oh wow.
- 32:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 32:49SPEAKER_07: That's cool.
- 32:50SPEAKER_07: And he said he he was going by a movie studio and there was a Bentley just sitting there.
- 32:55SPEAKER_07: It was rotting away.
- 32:56SPEAKER_07: I mean the tires were all flat, they've been sitting there for and he bought it for like five thousand dollars and he fixed it up, and that's what he drove around, even though he didn't have a record deal, but everything he thought he did.
- 33:06SPEAKER_07: Because he was driving a Bentley.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: So that's funny.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: I gotta finish that.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: I gotta watch the rest of that.
- 33:11SPEAKER_07: Well, those those things aren't in the documentary.
- 33:14SPEAKER_07: These are from the stuff I remember from the book.
- 33:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 33:16SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 33:17SPEAKER_07: The book is way better.
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: So did you so you just read the book then?
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: No, I'm reading it now.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, you're reading it now.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: I'm still reading it now.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: I probably should read that uh Michael McDonald book that uh you you gave me.
- 33:27SPEAKER_07: And my uh Neil Pearl book.
- 33:28SPEAKER_07: And your Neil Peart book.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna lie, I'll probably read the Mike McDonald book before the Neil Peart book.
- 33:32SPEAKER_07: No, that's fair.
- 33:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: Uh Jeff Tate announces final Operation Mind Crime US shows.
- 33:37SPEAKER_07: Oh man.
- 33:38SPEAKER_07: That's my favorite Queens Rick album.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: Um and I think it's probably because he's 65, 68.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: He's not, I mean, he's he's not a young man.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: He's not as hot not as old as Sammy Hagar, but but uh he also doesn't sing the same way Sammy Hagar sings.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: His voice is Well, he's an operatic singer.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: So I would imagine he's and Frankie Valley has responded to viral claims of elder abuse.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: Have you ever seen any of that footage of Frankie Valley performing like recently?
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: No.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: Because the guy is 90 years old.
- 34:12SPEAKER_03: Holy crap.
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: Um, but I want to show you this.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: I want to see if I can find I want I want to see if I can pull it up on YouTube because uh let's see.
- 34:21SPEAKER_03: Frankie Valley is 90?
- 34:23SPEAKER_03: Frankie Valley is 90.
- 34:25SPEAKER_07: We're talking about Hey wee! Yeah, that guy?
- 34:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 34:30SPEAKER_07: Wow.
- 34:30SPEAKER_07: Um he doesn't still sing like that.
- 34:33SPEAKER_03: Okay, I want to see if see if you can see this.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: Um, not this.
- 34:39SPEAKER_07: Um because it's an advertisement for Peacock.
- 34:42SPEAKER_07: There's a lady you might even have a kid.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: Hey, don't give them free advertising.
- 34:46SPEAKER_07: Not that you know anybody's I don't know what's going on, so it's just like there's like a few.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: No, he's not.
- 35:44SPEAKER_09: This is terrible, man.
- 35:45SPEAKER_07: Uh they're just putting him out, they're just putting him out there to sell tickets, man.
- 35:53SPEAKER_03: Well, that's the thing.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: So I there were people that were commenting about this and saying that, you know, well, that well that one one person uh commented, who whoever keeps sending Frankie Valley out on stage at this point is committing elder abuse.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: Um and so Frankie Valley himself, air quotes, yeah, has responded um saying that I know there's been a lot of stuff on the internet about me lately, so I wanted to clear the air.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: I'm blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do, and as long as I'm able and audiences want to come see me, I'm going to be out there performing as I always do.
- 36:27SPEAKER_03: I absolutely love what I do.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: Um The four season sound was always about layering vocals and instruments.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: We use our 60 years of experience, so we sound like the records.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: I sing, I have singers who sing, great arrangements, everything.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: I get a chuckle from the comments, wondering if someone is forcing me to be on stage.
- 36:51SPEAKER_03: Nobody has ever made me do anything I didn't want to do.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: So he does want to lip sync.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: I mean, he looks like he's not in his right mind when he's out there.
- 37:02SPEAKER_07: Well he just he's just wandering around.
- 37:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah, they they give him a microphone, hey Valley, go out there.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just Yeah, and he's holding the microphone up to his mouth and his mouth is barely moving.
- 37:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I'm I don't know how he's doing this all these high Yeah, yeah, it's he's not singing.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: He's not singing, he's not singing.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: But to his point, if people know he's not singing and they're still coming, isn't that on them?
- 37:24SPEAKER_07: It really is, yeah.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: I mean if you he is there, let's go back to Millie Vanilla.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 37:34SPEAKER_07: I mean I mean they they kept going even after people figured out that they were faking.
- 37:39SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 37:40SPEAKER_07: They still kept going, they won the Grammy.
- 37:42SPEAKER_07: It was after that that they, you know, they you know they kind of shot themselves in the foot.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 37:47SPEAKER_07: But you know, people were still going to see him, and you know, I think the whole point of that is like, well, people want to see them.
- 37:54SPEAKER_07: You know, people want to see Frankie Valley.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:56SPEAKER_07: People wanted to see Millie Van.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: And he's there, you know, like in person.
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: And probably signs autographs after.
- 38:03SPEAKER_07: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 38:04SPEAKER_07: You know, so I you know whatever, man.
- 38:07SPEAKER_07: I mean, you know.
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Um I don't know We were talking about like uh because I was listening to Eddie Trunk today, and he was talking about how there's speculation now that Lincoln Park, even though they got that new lead singer who's supposedly amazing, um, but they're that they're using tracks.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: And Eddie's like, well, number one, that surprises me, uh, because if you make a big deal about this new lead singer and you hire her and she's so awesome, why are you using tracks?
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: Why is she not singing?
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: Number two, um I don't necessarily believe it.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Uh and number three, uh Lincoln Park's music is tracks.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: You know, I mean they play that they're their band that plays, but they have a DJ.
- 38:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: And there's a lot of beats.
- 38:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: You know, so so uh it is tracks to an extent.
- 39:03SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: But uh they were they were accusing the vocalist of like like when she's supposed to be singing, she's not the microphone's not up to not up to her mouth, or she's chewing gum, you know, or something.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: And I don't believe it.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: I think it's and you're seeing it on social media, videos on social media.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: You can't you can't take that as and there's delay.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: There's also delay in the in the theaters or wherever that they're that they're playing.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: You can't take that to uh say that she's she's singing to a track.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: I I I doubt it.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: I doubt it.
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: She is great, she's a great singer.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: And uh to Eddie Trunk's point, I mean, if she was great enough for Lincoln Park to wait six years and come out of retirement but and with a new female lead singer, she's not singing to tracks.
- 39:50SPEAKER_07: No.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they wouldn't let that happen.
- 39:52SPEAKER_07: No, I would I would like to think they didn't.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: So it's becoming a thing more and more, I guess.
- 40:00SPEAKER_07: Well, it's all it's all computerized.
- 40:09SPEAKER_07: We can't all be Taylor Swift, apparently.
- 40:12SPEAKER_09: So, you know, whatever.
- 40:13SPEAKER_07: Oh, did you hear about that guy that went to an auction and bought a signed Taylor Swift guitar for 4,000 and then smashed it?
- 40:23SPEAKER_10: That dude, we need to get that dude on this podcast because I want to talk to him.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: I did read that.
- 40:28SPEAKER_03: That was hilarious.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just kind of showing what everyone feels.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Everyone who's over, you know, 30 feels about.
- 40:39SPEAKER_03: And you know, we we don't get me wrong, we I like Taylor Swift.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: Sort of.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: I don't.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: Uh but I'm tired of it.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: I'm just tired of it.
- 40:50SPEAKER_07: Well, I was I reading the other day, uh, Josh Allen, the quarterback of the Bills, yeah, he's dating Haley Steinfeld Steinfield.
- 40:58SPEAKER_07: Is he?
- 40:59SPEAKER_07: I didn't know that.
- 40:59SPEAKER_07: That's his girlfriend.
- 41:00SPEAKER_07: She goes to every games, but nobody makes a big deal.
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 41:04SPEAKER_07: So why why is it every time there's a Chiefs game on, we spend, you know, three quarters of it looking at Taylor Swift?
- 41:11SPEAKER_03: Because she's like the biggest thing in the world.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: That's why.
- 41:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, but Haley's way better looking than Taylor Swift.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: I totally agree with that.
- 41:17SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 41:17SPEAKER_07: I'm just gonna say.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: Um good good poll, Josh.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: She wasn't at the the Chiefs game this past week, though, right?
- 41:24SPEAKER_03: Because I was not care.
- 41:25SPEAKER_03: I watched a little bit of it.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: I didn't see her once.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: So don't care.
- 41:28SPEAKER_07: So uh don't know, don't care.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Now that we're talking about football, um I'm number one still.
- 41:35SPEAKER_03: Look at me.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I did win again this week.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: So I'm I'm still number one.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: I didn't take a screenshot yet.
- 41:41SPEAKER_07: Um the operative word.
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: Eli is is second, uh, and uh John is third, and you are in fourth.
- 41:50SPEAKER_07: Still.
- 41:50SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: So three of us are four and oh.
- 41:53SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: Uh and like we said, Jude is making a comeback.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Jude is at number five.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: He's on the comeback.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: He will, he will, I'm sure he will probably surpass us all uh in relative short fashion.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, I gotta make some change.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm playing Olivia this week.
- 42:07SPEAKER_07: She hasn't been having a good she did good week one, but she hasn't been doing good since.
- 42:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 42:11SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I agree.
- 42:12SPEAKER_03: Hopefully, uh, most of my other players are on a bye.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Uh the ones on my bench anyway.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: No, Saquon oh Saquon Barkley is on a bye.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: Jay Dodson's on a bye.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, I can do this another time.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: Anyway, uh I just wanted to say that I was number one still.
- 42:32SPEAKER_07: So yeah, cousin Larry is a little uh frustrated that he's 0-1-4.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: So well, you know, we can't all it happens, man.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it does.
- 42:43SPEAKER_03: It does.
- 42:44SPEAKER_07: I don't think I don't think Josh is one anymore, but he's not really playing either.
- 42:47SPEAKER_03: So he just kind of saw a thing.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: He's he was out in Vancouver.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: You know, with the with uh um Dylan Schneider.
- 42:54SPEAKER_03: Dylan Schneider, yeah.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: Um and he was a cool shot.
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: Did you see it?
- 42:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, very cool.
- 42:58SPEAKER_07: Cool shot.
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:00SPEAKER_07: Anyway, um I was done in publicity for that band is doing real well.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 43:06SPEAKER_03: And they just played the opera too, I thought.
- 43:08SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 43:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 43:08SPEAKER_07: I saw pictures, yep.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: Uh good for him.
- 43:11SPEAKER_03: He's living the life, man.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Living the lodge.
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: Alright, so let's uh you want to do you want to do uh mixtape mixtape.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: Let's do mixtape.
- 43:19SPEAKER_03: We don't have any music for mixtape, but we should also.
- 43:22SPEAKER_09: We don't need mixtape music.
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: I thought I thought it'd be kind of neat.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: It's kind of like a trans transition.
- 43:27SPEAKER_07: Well, well, you need to- Although I do like you going mixtape! Mixtape! That's the music.
- 43:31SPEAKER_07: There we go.
- 43:32SPEAKER_07: I just played it.
- 43:33SPEAKER_07: Alright, so past, present, future.
- 43:35SPEAKER_07: Okay, so our uh our lovely judge did get it back to me.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: She did?
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: She did.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: Like as we were talking.
- 43:40SPEAKER_07: Very cool.
- 43:41SPEAKER_07: Uh quarter after seven.
- 43:42SPEAKER_07: So like half an hour ago.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 43:45SPEAKER_07: So last week's question was So last week's question was the your road trip song.
- 43:50SPEAKER_07: It's stuck on one song.
- 43:52SPEAKER_03: Oh, on your CD player.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 43:55SPEAKER_07: Okay, this is what she said.
- 43:56SPEAKER_07: All three choices were rough.
- 43:58SPEAKER_07: It would be an extremely long four.
- 44:00SPEAKER_07: Hour road trip with any of them stuck on repeat.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: She picked Revolution 9 again.
- 44:03SPEAKER_07: I would be certifiable if I had to listen to Revolution No.
- 44:06SPEAKER_07: 9 on repeat for 14 hours.
- 44:08SPEAKER_07: So studio with its techno beat wouldn't be too bad for 14 hours, but I had to go with Pink Floyd C Emily play.
- 44:14SPEAKER_07: She did?
- 44:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 44:15SPEAKER_07: It's just a weird song.
- 44:17SPEAKER_07: However, all three would be awful songs to listen on repeat for 14 hours.
- 44:21SPEAKER_07: Anyone would go crazy for sure.
- 44:23SPEAKER_03: She picked mine over Revolution 9?
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: The fact that I picked that like that night.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: You got it.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: Bonus.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: So that's past.
- 44:38SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Present is Well.
- 44:42SPEAKER_07: We have uh let's see.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: The cards here.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: Let me get the uh I would have said it, but I don't I don't want to get the wording correct.
- 44:51SPEAKER_07: Fog fills the battlefield.
- 44:53SPEAKER_07: Twenty of the bravest souls you know sit atop their war horses.
- 44:57SPEAKER_07: Your heartbeat thunders in your chest as the last charge across the battlefield begins.
- 45:02SPEAKER_07: What song plays during your final stamp?
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 45:07SPEAKER_03: I do have one.
- 45:08SPEAKER_07: Well, I gotta do Cousin Larry first.
- 45:11SPEAKER_07: Okay, so this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 45:18SPEAKER_07: Okay, Battlefield mixtape song.
- 45:20SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 45:20SPEAKER_07: I'm sure there are tons of songs out there from movie soundtracks, but I am going with a rock song.
- 45:25SPEAKER_07: I first thought of Hell's Bells because of the ominous ringing of the bell to start the song.
- 45:31SPEAKER_07: I also thought of Van Halen's eruption would be pretty cool.
- 45:34SPEAKER_07: I really love Led Zeppelin, and the first song I thought of when I read the question was The Immigrant Song.
- 45:39SPEAKER_03: That's one of the ones I thought of.
- 45:41SPEAKER_07: A song about Vikings and Valhalla and Robert Plant's primal scream at the beginning.
- 45:46SPEAKER_07: Seems like a great way to charge into battle.
- 45:48SPEAKER_07: That's my pick.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: Immigrant song?
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: Immigrant song.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay, okay.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: Because I I did think of that, and that was one of the ones that I was gonna go with.
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: Uh, but I thought of a different one.
- 45:59SPEAKER_03: So let me see if I can get immigrant song, just so I can.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: I think I have that in here.
- 46:04SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty sure I do.
- 46:05SPEAKER_03: If I don't, then I'm I can't really consider myself a music fan.
- 46:09SPEAKER_03: What are you doing?
- 46:10SPEAKER_05: That's so weird.
- 46:13SPEAKER_05: Why are you so weird?
- 46:15SPEAKER_05: Why am I so weird?
- 46:17SPEAKER_07: I don't have it in here.
- 46:19SPEAKER_07: You're not a real musician.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: I can't believe that.
- 46:24SPEAKER_07: Do who you're her.
- 46:28SPEAKER_07: That's what you are, Sir.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: Hush your mouth.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: I'm the team mascot.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, by the way, before we before we hear this a little bit, uh, did I show you that?
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: I think I did.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: I think I showed you on Friday.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: See, my memory is just shot.
- 46:47SPEAKER_07: The McConaughey.
- 46:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we were laughing about that.
- 46:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:52SPEAKER_07: Didn't you go to Stanford?
- 46:57SPEAKER_03: I mean, this worked, right?
- 47:18SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: Alright, you wanna give yours?
- 47:20SPEAKER_07: My favorite, my favorite rendition was when Jack Black used this in school of rock.
- 47:25SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 47:25SPEAKER_07: And he's driving around in the van singing, oh my freaking I friggin' love it.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:30SPEAKER_07: He actually had to talk to the guys from Led Zeppelin to get that song used.
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: And not only that, wasn't uh No, yeah, you're right.
- 47:40SPEAKER_03: Because I was gonna say he does something else from Led Zeppelin in that, but he doesn't.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: No.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: He talks about them.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:46SPEAKER_08: Um gods of Led Zeppelin.
- 47:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_08: Melts and faces.
- 47:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that whole speech.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: But yeah, you're right.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: I remember that.
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: That he couldn't get that song.
- 47:54SPEAKER_03: But he did?
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: He did eventually.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: Eventually did.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: They don't, because they don't do that.
- 47:58SPEAKER_07: Oh, they don't let their songs, yeah.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: No.
- 48:00SPEAKER_03: Alright, so what's yours?
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: Mine is For whom the bell tolls.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: Matalica.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, I want to say I have that.

- 57:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, well, that's when we talked about it, but we haven't never done this song.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 57:50SPEAKER_07: As Tomorrow Never Knows is the last track on the album and the clearest signpost of things to come.
- 57:56SPEAKER_07: It's often assumed that it was the last track recorded.
- 57:59SPEAKER_07: In fact, it was the first track laid down for Revolver.
- 58:02SPEAKER_07: Certainly the weirdest and most experimental track to appear under the Beatles' name at the time.
- 58:07SPEAKER_07: This was John's attempt to capture something of the LSD experience and words and sounds.
- 58:12SPEAKER_07: The words were borrowed, adapted, and embellished from Timothy Leary's 1964 book, The Psychedelic Experience, which was itself poetic in reinterpretation of the ancient Tibetan Book of the Dead.
- 58:25SPEAKER_07: John had been sent the book by Barry Miles, who ran Indica books in Southampton Row and was an influential figure in the British underground scene since the 60s.
- 58:35SPEAKER_07: He had an arrangement with the Beatles to send them significant books, magazines, and newspapers to keep them up to date.
- 58:41SPEAKER_07: Leary, known as the high priest of LSD, had spent seven months in the Himalayas studying Tibetan Buddhism under Lama Govedina.
- 58:50SPEAKER_07: The psychedelic experience was a direct result of this period of study.
- 58:55SPEAKER_07: Quote, I would ask Lama Govedina question, says Leary, and then I'd try to translate what he said into something useful for people.
- 59:03SPEAKER_07: Book of the Dead really means Book of the Dying, but it is your ego rather than your body which is dying.
- 59:09SPEAKER_07: The book is a classic, it's the Bible of Tibetan Buddhism.
- 59:13SPEAKER_07: The concept of Buddhism is of the void and of reaching the void.
- 59:16SPEAKER_07: And that it was that is what John captured in the song.
- 59:25SPEAKER_03: And a lot of it was backwards.
- 59:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 59:31SPEAKER_07: The working title of the track was at was in fact The Void.
- 59:34SPEAKER_07: Taken from Leary's line of beyond the restless, flowing electricity of life is the ultimate reality, The Void.
- 59:41SPEAKER_07: Its eventual title was Auringoism, which John snatched at because it added some deceptive levity to what otherwise might have sounded like a bleak journey into nothingness.
- 59:51SPEAKER_07: The actual sound of the piece, which consists of 16 tape loops made by each of the Beatles fading in and out, grew out of Paul's home experimentation on his tape recorder.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_07: Quote, he had this little grundig, said George Martin.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_07: He found by moving the erase head and putting a loop on, he could actually saturate the tape with a single noise.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_07: He would go round and round and eventually the tape couldn't absorb anymore, and he'd bring it in and play it.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_07: For the vocal track, John wanted it to sound like a chorus of Tibetan monks chanting on a mountaintop.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_07: He said he wanted to hear the words, but he didn't want to hear him, says George Martin.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_07: The result, which sounds as if John is singing at the end of a long tunnel, was achieved by feeding his voice through a Leslie speaker.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_07: I didn't know that either.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_07: So interesting.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_07: And there's a nice picture of Timothy Leary to go along with it.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_07: So he's a whack job.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_03: Was.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah, was.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_07: But there you go.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_07: I love this song though.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_03: This is one of my favorite Beatles albums.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_07: It is, yeah.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_07: Revolver's a great album, and this song is a great song.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_07: Even though it's one chord.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_07: So but it's a cool song, man.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_07: It's not, I mean, it's experimental and weird.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_07: But it's no revolution number nine.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_03: This is true.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_07: I mean, I like this song.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_07: I hate revolution number nine.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_07: But I think everybody knows that by now.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: Why do you say that?
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_07: Well, I've only used it for my answer or mixtape for the last two weeks.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_03: I have an album.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_03: I have an idea that you have an album.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: A CD, I should say.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_03: What?
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_03: No, I'm not playing then too.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_03: The guessing begin.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_07: I'm not playing.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_03: That's all I have is CDs.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_03: What are you talking about?
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_03: Albums?
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but we don't.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: We don't do albums.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_03: We do CDs.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_07: We should do an album sometime.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: We could do an album sometime, sure.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: But right now we're not.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_07: But I'm not playing anymore.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_03: I'm O'Brien.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: I'm Dog.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: Bye, everybody.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: Bye!
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_07: I'm not talking.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_10: I'm not talking.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_10: You're not talking.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_10: You're not talking.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_10: Stop it.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_10: Stop it.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_10: I'm a stupid head.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_10: I'm a stupid head.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_10: We have devolved into eleven-year-olds!
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_07: The transformation is amazing!
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_03: I can't believe we have a podcast.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_03: I really can't.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_07: Well, the other 16 people listen to us and I can't believe it either.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_03: Uh 60 something.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_07: What?
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I got I got a uh What the actual F.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's see.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_03: Um where is it here?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_03: I want to make sure I'm not misquoting it.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_09: That doesn't sound right.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_09: 62 downloads.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_09: What the heck?
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_03: I don't think it was 62 downloads.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_03: I think it was more, actually.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_07: What the Are we becoming a legitimate podcaster?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_07: No.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_07: Absolutely.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_03: Good thing.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_03: Gee.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: That's my invoice.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_07: Um anyway, I'll start guessing while you're looking for that.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, I forgot.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_03: I'm not playing anymore.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right?
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_07: You're not playing anymore! There's all things out of order.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_03: I I just I just had it here.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_03: Because uh I was like, I want to show this to Doug, because this doesn't seem possible.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_03: Well last week it was like 200 and Yeah, but I think that was a glitch.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_03: Or it was that was either a glitch or um they listened to the two because that was the week that we Oh we had the two weeks.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_07: We had the two podcasts.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_07: Two releases, yeah.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, released at the same the same week.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: That was a fun week.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: Um oh here we go.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_07: Oh just downloads last week.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_07: Well, that's interesting.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_03: Oh, it lists the actual Yeah, so sixteen people downloaded the f last week's episode.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.

- 1:03:54SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_07: So it's just people basically catching.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_07: But that doesn't equal to sixty five.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_03: It doesn't, but I think that's all it says see more stats.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_03: We don't have to get it.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_07: We don't have to get three hundred and eighty town downloads.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_03: In the last thirty days.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_07: So that's not bad.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_03: It's like uh Look, it's giving us the finger.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_03: It's nice.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_07: Up yours too, Buzz Sprout! Okay.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_07: Alright.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: Alright, so let the guessing begin.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: Is it a band?
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_03: Uh no.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_07: It's solo.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_07: Hand solo.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_07: No.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_07: Alright, I didn't think he had an album.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_07: Is it a man or a woman?
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_07: It's a man.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_09: He's a man, he's a man, he's a man of man.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_07: Uh rock guy?
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_07: Nope.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_07: Soul guy?
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_07: Nope.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_07: Blues guy.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_07: Pop guy.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_07: Nope.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_07: Singer songwriter guy.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_07: Singer songwriter guy.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_07: Does he play an instrument?
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_03: Guitar.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_07: Guitar.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_07: He's a guitar man.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_07: Guitar's in.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_07: Oh, it's Ray Stevens.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_07: Is he like Ray Stevens?
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_03: He does have some funny songs though.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_07: Weird Al's coming out.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_07: He's gonna have a tour next year.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_07: You're gonna see that?
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_03: I didn't see that.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_07: I like that.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_03: I'd go see it.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_03: I would love to see Weird Alvin.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_03: Wouldn't it be hilarious?
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_07: Okay, anyway.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_07: I digress.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_07: It's not Weird Out.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_07: Singer Songwriter guy.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_07: Plays guitar.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_07: Edwin McCain.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_03: I wanna say he's on the back.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_03: Like high functioning.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_03: But I could be wrong.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_07: As burgers, maybe?
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: But I could be wrong.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_07: Is his first name Dave?
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_03: It sure is.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_07: Dave Wilcox.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_07: It is Dave Wilcox.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_03: Interesting that I say he's on the spectrum and you automatically go to Dave Wilcox.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_03: I love Dave Wilcox.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_03: Uh so the album that I picked is one of my favorites, actually.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_03: And it might even be you know how I always say Desert Island, Desert Island albums?
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_03: This might be one of them.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_03: And it's uh David Wilcox, 20 previously unreleased tracks, East Asheville Hardware.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's a good album.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_03: It's a live album.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_03: And there are 20 songs on it.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_03: And this is a guy who can make you laugh and really make you think like uh nobody else.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_03: Uh very poignant songs that are uh, for lack of a better word, very real.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_03: Um but cleverly put together, uh cleverly worded um and sometimes funny, but to a to the point where you you chuckle but you get a warm feeling.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_03: It's hard hard to describe.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_03: Um so I'm gonna play a few of these.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_03: Um the first one I want to play is the actual title cut.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_03: Because to me this is quintessential to Dave Wilcox.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_03: Uh and it's only two minutes, so I might I might even play the whole song because uh the payoff a lot for Dave Wilcox is in how the song resolves.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_03: Do you agree?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_03: How the song ends.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_03: So this is only two minutes.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna ho go ahead and play this whole song, and I think you're you're gonna appreciate it.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_03: East Asheville Hardware.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_03: Speaking of Asheville, North North Carolina is just not not good.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_03: Um and w our thoughts and prayers, I know you know that it doesn't seem like much, but we're gonna send those out to all the people in North Carolina, uh, Florida, along along the East Coast, Georgia as well, um, who were dealing with the effects of uh Hurricane Helene.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_03: Um that bitch.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_03: Sorry, did I say that out loud?
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_04: Yes you did.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_04: I did, sorry.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_04: Yes you do.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_03: Um but you know, my sister-in-law lives in just just outside of Asheville, just you know um and the the things that they're going through uh right now.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_03: She's she's okay.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_03: Uh they have no power.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_03: They have water, but they have no power.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but their house is intact.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_03: So, you know, thank God for that.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_03: But a lot of other people can't say the same.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_03: So it's just awful.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: So um I didn't pick this for that reason.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_03: I just think this is an amazing song.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_03: Uh we used we did this a couple times, didn't we?
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_07: We played it.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_07: We've played it a couple times.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Uh all right.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_07: Well, on the show, we've never actually played it at Are you talking about a gig?
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_07: We've never played it.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we have.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_03: Have you?
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because we played it at the cafe in Holton because James Matilla was there.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_03: And he said, I can I've never seen known anybody who likes Dave Wilcox.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_03: You know, because he he likes Dave Wilcox as well.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_03: And we played that one song, but I changed it to um SW Collins.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah, you changed the words to change the words.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_03: But yeah, this is great.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_00: An angel appeared in a holy vision, stood by my bedside in the shivering light, spoke my name, told me my mission.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_00: I could not believe I was hearing him right, just he's dead gold.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: My stun go.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_00: Always go to eastash bill hardware before you go to load Steph, go to east dash bell hardware before you go to load.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: You'll help to keep them open.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: I'm worried they might close From the stiff competition from the national conglomerate with the full page ad in the color section of the Sunday paper supplement, and stacks of plastic swimming pools, and seven brands of power tools, and rows and rows of registers, all having nice days.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_00: But no, you go set to me with light around its face.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_00: He said you go first to that age old place, to that old wooden door that you have to close behind you to the whiteboard wooden floor, worn down to the real thing, could advise quality at the fair price to know that they know how deep the frost goes here.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_00: Sure there's stuff you'll have to find at paving lows or steers, but go to east Ashville Hardware.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_00: Go to East Ashville Hardware before it disappears.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, come on.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_03: It's a great isn't it great?
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and and a lot of his songs are like that, you know, they they they just have uh a good story, but they have a message.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, and um I'm gonna play one more from this album, and it's about perspective.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_03: And I'm gonna play the whole thing because I think um we need to hear all of us need to hear a song like this every once in a while.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_03: Um, and this is called You Should See the Way It Feels.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_00: Uh It may look to you like nothing much to see, but you should see the way it feels to me.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_03: You heard this one?
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_00: I have this, I have this.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: Do you have this?
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: I have this sidewalk.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_00: I used to ride my bike down this little slope, down my little mountain.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_00: Start by the driveway, spin it up to speed.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_00: Careful of that gravel, cause it's nasty on the knee.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_00: Watch out for the branches on that apple tree.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess it's not as high as I remember.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_00: It might not be a mountain after all, but it was hard enough to climb, steep enough to coast, long enough to satisfy, and fast enough to boast.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_00: It may look to you like nothing but to see.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_07: It's a great play on words.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_00: I used to spend my turn a phrase up.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_00: Way up in my mountain.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_00: Jump to the first branch, walk it upside down.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: Careful of your grip, cause it's a long way to the ground.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_00: You better get a handhold before you look around.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_00: You can speak into forever.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess it's not as high as I remember.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_00: It might not be a mansion after all, but it was hard enough to climb, safe enough to sleep, big enough to satisfy, and home enough for me.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_00: It may look to you like nothing much to see.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: But you should see the way it feels to me.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_00: Used to be the child, not so long ago, not so very long.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_00: Look at the memory of all those gears.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_00: Looking through the sparkle of the sunlight and tears.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_00: You better take another look before you disappear.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: You can see across your lifetime.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_00: So I look at where I've come and where I'm going.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: I will never be the greatest after all.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_00: But it was hard enough to fly to get to where I've been.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_00: Love enough to satisfy and life enough to live.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: I may look to you like nothing much to be.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_00: You should see the way it feels to me.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_03: I just think that's that's a great song.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_03: It's a great message.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_03: And you know, I I have seen him um on a on a he's a great storyteller, yeah, as well.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_03: Um, but he also has some just weird um stuff.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_03: Weird songs.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_03: Um I don't know how else to uh describe it.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_03: Um they're just out there.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_03: Um and I don't I don't know how to explain it.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_03: Uh he he can hit a home run uh with a song and then just kind of lose me completely with another song.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_03: Um I'm gonna play one more song.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_03: It's not off this album.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_03: Uh it's off a song uh an album called What You Whispered in in the year 2000.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_03: It's only um less than three minutes long.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_03: I think you've heard it, but I need to I want to play it on the podcast.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: So I relate to this song as well.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_03: This is called Guitar Shopping.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_03: Okay, here we go.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_00: There's a guitar here in the window.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_00: I'd like to play before it's sold.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_00: It's such a classic, mint condition, great shape for one this old.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_00: Now all these axes have their stories of the gigs that they have seen.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_00: But when this one sold the first time I was 17.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_00: Course, back then I didn't want it.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_00: It was way too new for me.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_00: I needed something old and righteous with its own authority.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_00: So the first guitar I ever bought was twice as old as me.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_00: Cause its life was full of music as I dreamed that mine might be.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_00: And I played that thing a thousand nights, traded in a way for something slightly newer that was easier to play.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_00: But now lately I buy new guitars, they're shiny as a hearse.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_00: I still like the look of road wear, but the roles have been reversed.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_00: And now this thing is a classic, but I still don't need to buy.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the old ones have their stories, but by now, so do I just great stuff.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_03: And that's what I mean.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's it you get get a warm feeling when you because it's like you think about your own life.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_07: You know, especially as musicians.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_07: I mean, we're thinking about, you know, like the first drum set I bought.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_07: It's got a, you know, that had a lot of gigs under her bell.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_07: For sure.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_07: You know, guitars, you know.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah and it you know microphones.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_07: I mean, my SM58 man is a road warrior.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_07: I mean, that thing is beat up and rusted, but it's still every time I plug it in, burks.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_03: There it is.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_03: So that's uh that's uh Dave Wilcox, 20 previously unreleased tracks, East Asheville Hardware.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_03: It's a live album and a great one at that.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_09: It is a good indeed.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_03: It is a good indeed.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_03: I highly recommend it.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_03: That is the uh Wall of Tunes CD of the week.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_03: And oh, you know, um, so we're about to do O'Brien and Doug's um homeschool.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_03: What is it?
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_03: Homeschool?
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_07: O'Brien and Doug's Homeschool Circle.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_03: Circle.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_03: So I mentioned um to my wife the other day that we were doing this.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_03: This would be our third time doing it.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_03: This is our fourth.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_03: Fourth.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_03: I think it's our fourth.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I almost think it's our fourth.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_03: So she said, because I told her we were doing it for the Blanchards.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_03: And she's like, well, you know, they don't listen to the whole podcast.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_03: I was like, what?
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they just listen to the beginning and probably up until the middle.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_10: So we've been doing this for nothing.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_03: So I did I don't I wanted to mention it to uh to the Blanchards, you know.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_03: This week can you listen to the whole thing?
- 1:19:21SPEAKER_03: Or at least skip to the end.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_03: And then go back to like the last three episodes and listen to the whole thing.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_03: Skip to the end.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, skip to the end.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_03: So I I I didn't mention I saw him tonight too, and I I didn't mention it to him, but I thought that was funny.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_03: You're doing this, and they don't even listen to the whole podcast.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh anyway, let's do it anyway.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_03: So Yeah, um about that.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_03: You don't have anything?
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_07: I did, and I totally forgot what it was.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_07: Oh I I I can't remember what song I was going to do.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_07: I I I had it all set in my mind.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_07: And now that the time has come, it's not there.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_07: I'm not sure where it went.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_03: Well, let's do this.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_03: The first thing we did was American Pie, right?
- 1:20:05unknown: No.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_03: No, what was the first thing we did?
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_07: Uh wasn't Johnny Horton.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was Johnny Horton.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_03: Was it Johnny Horton?
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_07: Uh and then we did Manhattan Project.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_03: Manhattan Project.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_07: Rush.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_07: And then last week was the wreck of the M and Fitzgerald.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_03: And so this would have been week four.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_03: So does that bring it anything to mind?
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_07: I can't remember what it was.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_03: And it was a I thought we did the day the music died, was one of them.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_07: No?
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_07: Well, we did that as a as a deep dive into the lyrics.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_03: True, we did.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:20:35SPEAKER_07: So yeah, we never Oh, I remember what it was.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_07: It was Ballad of the Green Berets, uh Sergeant uh Sergeant Barry's Barry Sanders.
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_07: Sadler?
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_07: Sadler or Sanders?
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_07: Barry Sadler, I think.
- 1:20:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:20:45SPEAKER_07: That's what it was.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_07: Ballad of the Green Berets.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_03: Battle of the Green Berets.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_03: Sergeant Barry Sadler.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_03: Go listen to that song.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_03: And then Research the Green Berets.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_03: Research the Green Berets.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_07: It's actually, yeah, he was a Green Beret.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 1:20:57SPEAKER_07: So that's it was it was poignant.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_07: John Wayne was a Green Beret, but he only played one on a movie.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_03: Good movie though.
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_03: It was a good movie.
- 1:21:04SPEAKER_03: That had uh um I had a lot of big names in it.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_03: Uh Timothy Hutton's brother, Jim Hutton, was in that.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_03: Um he played the the other sergeant.
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, did he?
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_03: That was a great movie.
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_03: It was a great movie.
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen that in a long time.
- 1:21:17SPEAKER_03: Do you ever do that?
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_03: You ever like Sundays to me, of course it hasn't happened in a long time.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_03: Um because we just are so busy with everything.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_03: But I used to like just Sundays dialing up an old movie.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_03: Like The Green Berets or Bridge Over the River Kwai, or you know, something like that.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, something, yeah.
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and so you'll be like, whoa, I've seen this forever.
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_03: Just chilling on the couch and watching an old movie.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:21:42SPEAKER_03: Have like a a hot cup of tea or something like that.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_03: That is my favorite thing.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:21:47SPEAKER_03: Um, but I haven't done it in such a long time.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_03: I used to watch a lot of Cary Grant movies.
- 1:21:51SPEAKER_03: Because Cary Grant's my favorite.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_03: So um Fada Goose.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I have a lot of Cary Grant movies as well.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_03: Yes, you do.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_03: Yes, you do stop.
- 1:22:00SPEAKER_03: All right then.
- 1:22:00SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_03: That's episode uh what was I gonna say, 214?
- 1:22:03SPEAKER_03: 214.
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_03: So uh There ain't no more.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_03: We're gonna we're gonna cut it off right now, and you're gonna cut it off right now.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_03: No, no, I'm not.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_07: This is the Lorena Bobbit.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_03: We are 12.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_07: I actually watched a thing about that.
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_03: Did you really?
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was pretty bad.
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_03: I didn't want to go there.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_03: Uh until next time.
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_03: I'm O'Brien.
