- 0:38Oh, welcome to the drive through episode number 51, but instead of our regularly
- 0:44scheduled ranting and raving, we're back with the ultimate holiday shopping
- 0:49guide for the petrol heads in your life that might not have everything yet.
- 0:54So let's pull up to window number one or some great gift ideas.
- 1:00And we've got a packed sleigh tonight, joining our standard
- 1:03drive thru crew of Crew Chief Brad, Executive Producer Tanya, and myself.
- 1:07We are visited by Don Wieberg from Garage Style Magazine as Santa Claus, and William
- 1:13Ross from the Exotic Car Marketplace as his helper elf, and our, what's the
- 1:17word, most returning est guest host ever.
- 1:21Right, William?
- 1:21Seems to be, yeah.
- 1:24Well, like all holiday drive thrus gone by, we will be visited by three ghosts.
- 1:30The ghost of drive thrus past, the ghost of Christmas presents, pun intended, and
- 1:35the ghost of break fix guests yet to come.
- 1:38That was a terrible dad joke.
- 1:39I'm done.
- 1:40Bye.
- 1:41I'll see you later.
- 1:42You cringe?
- 1:43Yes.
- 1:44My heart grew three sizes then.
- 1:46How big is that?
- 1:47Cause you're a big guy.
- 1:48So if it's three, nevermind.
- 1:50On top of that, this is one of my favorite episodes because this is when we get
- 1:53to do a little bit of show and tell.
- 1:55So if you're watching this on Patrion behind the scenes, you'll get to
- 1:58see us actually demonstrate some of these gifts if we have them with us.
- 2:01So I'm really excited to see what we came up with in typical GTM tradition.
- 2:06Let's kick it off with some general gift ideas.
- 2:08So Brad, what do you got for us this year?
- 2:10Well, I fall victim to the Instagram marketing campaigns.
- 2:15All the time.
- 2:16And this one came across my desk.
- 2:18It's a GT glow car lamp, mostly different Porsches.
- 2:22And then there's like a, an F 40 and you know, some other different things.
- 2:26E30 M3.
- 2:27Don't know why that is part of this list, you know, with all these better cars.
- 2:31But anyway, if you're interested, it's a vernia.
- 2:34store.
- 2:35I have also seen these on the Instagrams and have clicked on it
- 2:39many times, but what's special about this is they're running basically
- 2:42a 50 percent sale right now.
- 2:44You can pick up one of these.
- 2:45GT glow lamps for 54 bucks and who wouldn't want a
- 2:49black nine 64 turbo for 54.
- 2:52That thing looks awesome.
- 2:54I think they're pretty sweet looking.
- 2:56Yes, I agree.
- 2:5754.
- 2:58If you've ever been down the lamp and lighting aisle at your local target,
- 3:02well, maybe not Walmart because China.
- 3:04You'll see that this lamp is actually reasonably priced compared to the
- 3:08other crap that they've got there.
- 3:09And to use your phrasing, this lamp identifies as a Porsche, except for
- 3:15the weird one that identifies as an E30 M3, that does not fit this.
- 3:19That lamp is just confused.
- 3:21Did I make a Yugo version?
- 3:23You go somewhere else, Don.
- 3:26No, the beauty of it is you don't need a light bulb because you know, every time
- 3:29you turn the little thing, it won't start.
- 3:30The E30 M3 one just blinks.
- 3:33The hazard lights.
- 3:34Yeah, the hazard lights just blinked the whole time.
- 3:36Speaking of that Yugo lamp, Don, you might not find that on Avernia's
- 3:40website, but you might find that at an auction out of somebody's garage.
- 3:44In fact, you might just get the whole full size Yugo and just attach
- 3:48a whole bunch of lights to it.
- 3:49Then you have your indoor lighting.
- 3:50You hang it from the ceiling like a chandelier.
- 3:53I would think you just light a match and you light it like a candle.
- 3:56One time use, you go.
- 3:58Yeah, you could do that.
- 3:59So, Don, you're the guru of garages and auctions and classic
- 4:04cars and things like that.
- 4:05Why should we think about an auction for holiday shopping?
- 4:09I mean, if you're referring to Meekamontime.
- 4:11That is an excellent place to go because Mecham on time is the newest
- 4:15and the latest and the greatest from the Mecham auction company.
- 4:18Have I said Mecham enough times already, Eric?
- 4:20The algorithms are still processing it.
- 4:22No, what's fun about going to something like an auction and
- 4:25it could be Mecham on time.
- 4:26It could be eBay.
- 4:27It could be any of them, but you know, you get a lot more.
- 4:29Personal when you go to an auction, because I can go to an auction and let's
- 4:34say, you know, a Knight writer guy.
- 4:36So you think to yourself, well, what do you really like?
- 4:38Let's key in Knight Writer and see what the search brings up.
- 4:41You have this whole smorgasbord of Knight writer things that you can choose
- 4:45from, and then when you're buying that little Knight writer piece for that,
- 4:47somebody they think to themselves, wow.
- 4:50This is really awesome.
- 4:51They put a lot of thought into this.
- 4:52It's not like we just went running off to Walmart or Target or wherever and
- 4:56just bought whatever was on the shelf.
- 4:57No, we actually put a little thought into this and went out of our way a
- 5:00little bit to buy it at an auction.
- 5:02And some auctions, they have the buy it now price.
- 5:05So you're not even dilly dallying with bidding and outbidding and all that stuff.
- 5:09You just.
- 5:09Go in there and pay the fee and, and you're done.
- 5:12And you drew that parallel between eBay and Mecum there just to use two
- 5:16names, but on time, as we learned from Melissa Smith, when you and I got
- 5:20together with her, that's their online version of a in person Mecum auction.
- 5:25So you don't have to worry about cause Simi's in January.
- 5:28So that's too far away to buy a gift.
- 5:29And I just missed Dallas and Las Vegas and all the other ones on time.
- 5:34Is it 365?
- 5:35Seven days a week operation.
- 5:37And you could be shopping there year round for gifts for people.
- 5:41So I think that's pretty awesome.
- 5:42Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 5:43And I mean, you know, the brainchild behind it, the Genesis was meet them.
- 5:47Just speaking to them specifically, they always have a lot of clients that
- 5:50come to them and they want to sell entire collections and they have a
- 5:53garage full of cars and they have a garage full of stuff that goes with
- 5:56the cars, not necessarily going with the cars, but you know, you have your
- 5:59little collectibles all over the wall.
- 6:01That stuff was always really, really hard for them to move.
- 6:03Yeah.
- 6:04With online capabilities, they decided, why don't we just bring this in house?
- 6:08We'll handle it exactly the way we handle our cars.
- 6:10We'll control the auction.
- 6:11We'll take the pictures.
- 6:12We'll put it up online, promote it.
- 6:14And it's been going pretty good.
- 6:162025 Mecham has a lot of stuff lined up for their own time and they're
- 6:21devoting more resources to it.
- 6:23They're beefing it up.
- 6:24They're getting more people on board.
- 6:26They're promoting it more heavily.
- 6:27They really are giving it much more of a serious consideration
- 6:30because when they put it out there.
- 6:32At first to the Meekins, it was kind of just a, yeah, we need this little
- 6:36side effect just because it's a natural evil that we have to take care of.
- 6:40But as time rolled on, they realized, boy, people like this, they're selling here.
- 6:44They're bringing us their stuff and they want us to sell it.
- 6:47And a lot of die cast goes to, as I say, sell a lot of die cast
- 6:50stuff, but it's ranching out.
- 6:52They're getting a little bit more automobile, which is interesting
- 6:54because, you know, they have their road art division, which is their.
- 6:57Fancy term for automobilia.
- 6:59It's interesting to watch the Meekam on time and the automobilia division
- 7:03kind of cross paths a little bit.
- 7:06It's like watching the two circles go over each other.
- 7:08So you're getting more and more interesting, really interesting
- 7:11stuff coming to Meekam on time.
- 7:13It's really fun to watch that division grow.
- 7:15I need to check that out.
- 7:16I need to go there because to your point, you never know what
- 7:19you're going to come across, but.
- 7:20Like other online auction sites, you can set up reminders, you can set up
- 7:23triggers, you can set up alerts, this kind of item appeared, all those things that
- 7:27you'd be accustomed to, like with eBay and YouBid and some of the other places.
- 7:31They've got everything you're looking for, but if you're a petrol head, it's
- 7:34definitely the place to check out.
- 7:35So I can't speak highly enough about it, especially for the holidays.
- 7:39If you're in a bind and you're looking for something interesting,
- 7:41there's always something on, on time.
- 7:43So switching gears to, A section of shopping that I think is near and
- 7:48dear to all of our panelists here.
- 7:50We're going to talk about model cars, Legos, and the virtual world.
- 7:54So Tanya, what's on the list this year?
- 7:55First one on the list is a set of Lego like cars.
- 7:58It's actually the Lego competitor mega previously known as mega blocks,
- 8:04which is now all owned by Mattel.
- 8:05So they were kind of the lesser known Lego competitor, but they've got a set of Hot
- 8:11Wheels and Fired racing cars, compete with speed champions of Lego, and I found two
- 8:17of the four offerings, which happened to be an Audi R eight and an RS six concept.
- 8:22I found them at my local grocery store, , and I happen to have them right here.
- 8:27They're super cool.
- 8:29I don't recall what the other two are, but I believe the
- 8:31back of the package does say.
- 8:32It is a Corvette C2 Stingray race car followed by the Cadillac CTS V race car.
- 8:40There you go.
- 8:40I think you can also find them at Target and Amazon if you're looking.
- 8:44Don't have to go down the grocery store toy aisle.
- 8:46Oh wait.
- 8:47Oh wait, there's more.
- 8:48They have a bigger size of these things and I picked one of these
- 8:51up when I was with William.
- 8:53And this is the basically one 18th scale.
- 8:57There's only a handful of these in terms of models.
- 9:00This is the Audi 90 GTO that Hans Stuck and Hurley Haywood drove back
- 9:04in the early nineties, but there's also a Corvette stingray version.
- 9:09And then they also show a hot rod and then another.
- 9:12Cadillac.
- 9:13So there's four different models in this larger size as well.
- 9:16And this is a almost thousand piece model that you put together.
- 9:21So pretty cool.
- 9:21Also available at target.
- 9:23No, no.
- 9:24I was just going to ask, do they have a price for a TC?
- 9:27No, that's where they made the mistake, but they have a Cadillac.
- 9:30So it may be in a long day.
- 9:32Yeah, we're getting there.
- 9:33Yeah.
- 9:33That's a little Walker in the back.
- 9:34I heard those smaller sets, Tanya, what do they run?
- 9:37Like 14 bucks.
- 9:38Something like that.
- 9:39And this bigger one was right around 80, which is not a bad
- 9:43price when you compare it to Lego.
- 9:45So they're trying to kind of take a bite out of that market because
- 9:48Mattel can take a swing like that.
- 9:50Really curious to see what additional designs they come up with and who
- 9:54they can get licensing from, which you think wouldn't be that hard
- 9:57considering they own Hot Wheels.
- 9:59So earlier this year, Lego actually had an announcement on a future partnership
- 10:04with F1 beginning in 2025 seasons.
- 10:07So it's not actually a new partnership because you can
- 10:09actually already get F1 Lego cars.
- 10:12They've got the McLaren, the Mercedes, and they've got the older Senna.
- 10:16Now they've got a bit of a cloak and dagger announcement that there's.
- 10:19Quote, a new signing for the 2025 F1 season.
- 10:23We're bringing the thrill of Formula One to LEGO fans of all ages with
- 10:26builds featuring all teams on the grid, plus loads of exciting extra content.
- 10:30They say drive back to this page for future thrills right from their website.
- 10:34You'll be able to buy a LEGO Haas.
- 10:36And then you can crash it.
- 10:37A hundred percent.
- 10:38Well, Haas is already using Lego Haases.
- 10:41I want the rich energy version of the Haas Lego rich energy.
- 10:46That's what I need.
- 10:46So we're still talking about Lego here.
- 10:48I picked up two this year to add to my burgeoning collection of these things.
- 10:52I don't know why I keep buying them.
- 10:54I love how Eric's already bought all these gifts.
- 10:56Well, I gotta have something to show for the episode, right?
- 10:58So I've got the Countach.
- 11:00Last year, I talked about the Ferrari that I bought.
- 11:03I've got a couple other ones in the box.
- 11:04But this year, I picked up the Ken Block Audi e tron Speed Champions set.
- 11:09This came in at 25 before they raised the price on them.
- 11:12They were 20 for the longest time, and then they went up to about 24.
- 11:15So I grabbed this one basically at the beginning of this year
- 11:18after the holiday season.
- 11:19And then Day one, I went and stood in line and I got myself the F40.
- 11:26Oh yeah.
- 11:26I bought two.
- 11:29I mean, it's awesome.
- 11:29It's not as nice as some of the previous F40 stuff that Lego has done with Ferrari.
- 11:34But I think this is really cool because it's been a minute since they've done
- 11:38something Ferrari and hoping for.
- 11:40Testarossa, I'm hoping for something else, right?
- 11:42Cause they've done some other Ferraris in the past.
- 11:44Fingers crossed.
- 11:45Yeah.
- 11:45You know, and one tip for everyone out there that's listening is don't
- 11:48just look on the shelves, look up on the top shelf, look behind stuff.
- 11:51Cause stuff gets hidden and put in places where it shouldn't be.
- 11:55So don't get discouraged if you walk in the aisle and don't
- 11:58see it right away through.
- 11:58Start digging through everything because you'd be surprised at what you'll
- 12:02end up finding hidden and whatnot.
- 12:03Yeah.
- 12:04You can also ask and see if they have anything in the back too.
- 12:07Yeah, there you go.
- 12:08For the real Lego files out there.
- 12:10I will remind you that if you're not what they used to call VIPs,
- 12:14now it's called Lego insiders.
- 12:15Sign up for free.
- 12:16You can order this today.
- 12:17stuff off Lego's website, you get all these points and then the
- 12:20points turn into cash and you can get stuff for free and all that.
- 12:22But there are deals with Walmart and Target that if you purchase kits there
- 12:27that you can then take your QR codes or whatever it is that comes with the
- 12:31box and still get points towards your VIP and then get free cool stuff.
- 12:35Check out lego.
- 12:36com, sign up for an account, get all that stuff done because it's definitely
- 12:38worth it if you're a collector because you might be able to buy
- 12:41that F40 or some other kit for free.
- 12:43But I also want to remind people, don't forget to look at the blockzone.
- 12:47com.
- 12:48These are guys that post a lot of their designs up on rebrickable.
- 12:53com and you can order all the parts necessary to build, let's
- 12:57say Marty's Toyota four by four or.
- 13:01The Falcon XBGT from Mad Max, you know, other cars like that.
- 13:04They don't have traditional names.
- 13:06You can't go and look up Ford XBGT.
- 13:08It's called like the interceptor or whatever.
- 13:10They got all these made up names to kind of avoid the licensing
- 13:13and all those kinds of things.
- 13:14But there's some really, really cool kits on the block zone.
- 13:18Some really interesting stuff that you won't find.
- 13:20At lego, but it's mostly lego parts that you're ordering and then get
- 13:25the instructions and build your own little collection that way.
- 13:27So it's pretty cool and their prices are really reasonable and they run
- 13:29promotions and sales all year long.
- 13:32But especially during christmas time shifting gears to video games.
- 13:35There's a new installment in the test drive unlimited franchise That's
- 13:39Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.
- 13:41You know, one of these free roaming racing video games trying to compete
- 13:45with the likes of Forza Horizon.
- 13:47This particular one takes place in Hong Kong and features some sort of
- 13:52street gang rival situation where I think at the very beginning of the
- 13:56game you gotta choose your side and then you're racing to essentially win
- 13:59the Solar Crown and I guess to have all the glory of your street gang.
- 14:03But it's available on all the majors, Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
- 14:07Jimmy Broadbent.
- 14:08Did a two and a half hour review of test drive, silver crown, which I don't
- 14:12recommend watching the TLDR the too long.
- 14:14Didn't read is I might still buy it.
- 14:16Anyways, Don, we should talk about real model cars.
- 14:20It wouldn't be fair if we didn't give a shout out to
- 14:22Rick shod, the Pope of plastic.
- 14:23Yeah, that guy's amazing.
- 14:26You want to find me, please.
- 14:28Don't be scared of Tik TOK for crying out loud.
- 14:30Don't believe all the hype.
- 14:31Go to at the pope of plastic on TikTok, at the Pope of plastic on TikTok, also
- 14:37on Instagram at the Pope of plastic.
- 14:40On, on, uh, LinkedIn.
- 14:42You can always find me at Rick Shad.
- 14:44R-I-C-K-S-C-H-A-D.
- 14:46I've usually post all my models on LinkedIn.
- 14:48That's kind of where I got my start, my first commission.
- 14:51came, believe it or not, from LinkedIn and I build anything.
- 14:53It doesn't have to be cars.
- 14:55I build anything, planes, boats, tanks, cars, it doesn't matter.
- 14:58So if you're interested in having something really
- 15:01special, please reach out to me.
- 15:02You can also email me at the Pope of plastic at Gmail.
- 15:07Love to have you all come and visit me.
- 15:08If you come and watch me and tick tock live, just tell me you saw me.
- 15:11I'd love to say hi and feel free to ask me any questions and I
- 15:14need to do a model for you guys.
- 15:16We need to do a Kootosh and a Porsche.
- 15:20Have you bought anything from our friend Patrick Strong at Model Citizen?
- 15:23You know as well as I do what I bought from him and it was a little while
- 15:26ago that I bought it so I don't know if it still qualifies for your show.
- 15:29Does it still qualify?
- 15:30You gotta buy it in this calendar year.
- 15:32Then I haven't bought anything from him.
- 15:33That's okay, I made up the difference for you.
- 15:35I figured you would.
- 15:36He posted on social, and I hate this word but I'm gonna say it, it was serendipitous
- 15:42because I just got done a project with Professor Summers, the motoring historian.
- 15:46The next day, he posts.
- 15:48I've got Ari Vatanen's Peugeot 205 Turbo T16 in stock, and I had to have it.
- 15:54Immediately was like, boom, buy it now, send it to me.
- 15:57He sent me a personal handwritten message thanking me.
- 16:00He was like so surprised.
- 16:01It's one of the first people to buy it from him.
- 16:03And he said he had me in mind when he's been looking at more Group B
- 16:07rally cars to have in his inventory.
- 16:10Because remember, he curates everything that he has in stock.
- 16:13So I thought this was super cool.
- 16:15I could not resist buying it.
- 16:16It looks awesome.
- 16:17It opens in every which direction.
- 16:19It's extremely detailed.
- 16:21It's an absolute joy to have in my ever growing selection of cars here.
- 16:27I typically do a kind of a low key Black Friday, Cyber Monday sale in that
- 16:32I just put a lot of stuff on Markdown.
- 16:34I don't do a special promotion with, you know, here's your
- 16:37percentage discount or buy two get one free or anything like that.
- 16:40It's just things get put into the sales section.
- 16:42So week after Thanksgiving, I'd be looking for that to happen.
- 16:46The best way to find out about deals like that is to get on our mailing list.
- 16:49We're not spamming.
- 16:50We only send emails out to let people know about new products or
- 16:54events where we're going to be.
- 16:55Whether you are a veteran collector with very finely honed taste, or whether you
- 17:00are new to the hobby, modelcitizendicast.
- 17:03com is a great place to find a Very tightly focused selection
- 17:08of exquisite model cars.
- 17:10And if you are new to the hobby, my contact info is readily available
- 17:14there, and I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have.
- 17:17Model citizen die cast.com is a great place to start or continue your
- 17:21journey as a die cast model collector.
- 17:26So model citizen die cast for your one 18th scale and.
- 17:30high end 164th scale.
- 17:32Now that's something else that Patrick is carrying in his
- 17:35inventory is 164th scale cars.
- 17:37And I wanted to show off some that I got this year, which
- 17:40I thought were super cool.
- 17:41So Hot Wheels, as we know, and we talked about with Patrick, they're
- 17:44doing these premium collections, very expensive for the size.
- 17:48You're talking 12 Hot Wheels.
- 17:50And it's like, who's the hell is going to spend 12 bucks on Hot Wheels?
- 17:53Well, this idiot does stuff like that.
- 17:55This is one of my favorites.
- 17:56I've got the Fiat race car carrier with an Abarth 131 rally car and the
- 18:03homologation version, all in premium.
- 18:05I mean, this in my hands is probably, I hate to say, it's 40 bucks worth of car in
- 18:11my hands, but extremely detailed, sticky tires, you know, really cool wheels.
- 18:18Everything's almost looks like it's hand painted versus the
- 18:20way they stamp things out.
- 18:22This is super cool.
- 18:23All the actual livery from back in the seventies and whatnot.
- 18:27So they're producing some really, really high quality stuff right from Mattel.
- 18:31You know, it's funny you say 40 bucks, like it's expensive and I guess it
- 18:35kind of is for such tiny little cars.
- 18:38But if you can appreciate the quality.
- 18:40I think all of a sudden that 40, it just kind of goes away.
- 18:43The problem is it snowballs, especially with the one 18th scale cars, because
- 18:48I have a big enough, let's call it garage for my one 18th scale cars.
- 18:52But I realized I was missing something, the service stand.
- 18:55I thought this was so cool.
- 18:57Oh yeah.
- 18:57You gotta have that.
- 18:58So this is the shells oils version.
- 19:00They have a bunch of different ones of these Exxon and VP racing and whatnot.
- 19:04I really like this one.
- 19:05The color scheme of the yellow and red of the shell, but this holds pretty much any
- 19:09one 18th scale car and you can lift it.
- 19:11You can park another car underneath of it.
- 19:13So if you want to really kind of maximize your space or make a
- 19:16really cool display with multiple cars, it is die cast as well.
- 19:20So it's actually quite heavy, fabulously painted and detailed.
- 19:23It even has the alignment racks and stuff.
- 19:25I found this online.
- 19:26I hate to say I bought this on Amazon.
- 19:28I can't remember the manufacturer off the top of my head, but
- 19:31if you search one 18th scale.
- 19:34Stands these come up alongside of like the acrylic cases and some of the
- 19:39other stuff that's out there So for the same kind of money as a plastic
- 19:42box, I thought this was really cool Yeah, those stands are a lot of fun.
- 19:46It makes changing their imaginary oil a lot easier, too Yeah,
- 19:49and you know, what's funny?
- 19:50I have to park the nine 11 backwards because otherwise it doesn't align
- 19:55right on the way these plates are made.
- 19:57Cause it's all kind of set up for a front mount car.
- 19:59It's really interesting.
- 20:00Again, the detail is really, really cool and very lifelike.
- 20:03Yeah.
- 20:03Speaking of premium high end ways again, Instagram, you know, marketing campaign.
- 20:08This company play forever.
- 20:10They make these really nice premium children's toys.
- 20:15They're all cars, you know, designed after some of our favorites.
- 20:18Obviously, as you mentioned earlier, you know, to get around the copyright, they
- 20:22can't call them, you know, what they actually are, but there's a very nice
- 20:25Porsche look alike, a nice Lamborghini looks like a charger or a Mustang.
- 20:29A lot of race cars and things like that.
- 20:31They're made with very durable, high quality plastics
- 20:34painted with UV proof paint.
- 20:36So it's all child friendly.
- 20:37They've got soft rubber tires, really nice toys.
- 20:41They say they last a lifetime.
- 20:42You know, I believe it looking at the quality of these things
- 20:44and they're actually quite large.
- 20:46You know, they're not one 64th scale.
- 20:48They're probably one 43rd or in between maybe one 32nd,
- 20:52but they're really nice cars.
- 20:53I've been looking to get a couple for the boys for Christmas.
- 20:56You should definitely check them out.
- 20:57It's play forever.
- 20:58us.
- 20:58I like this Malibu Ross.
- 21:00Did you see that William?
- 21:01I saw that one.
- 21:02I think that should be his new nickname.
- 21:06Sadly it's sold out.
- 21:07My favorite one is the UFO Leonisa.
- 21:10Yeah.
- 21:10Which is basically a Lamborghini.
- 21:12Coontosh.
- 21:13Yeah.
- 21:13It looks like a coontosh.
- 21:15I really liked the scaling.
- 21:17It looks like some of those graphic shirts that are like spray painted and stuff.
- 21:21It, it's like one of those brought to life with the really
- 21:23oversized wheels and everything.
- 21:24It looks to me, they look really, really cool.
- 21:27Model cars and Legos.
- 21:28Aren't the only things you can fill your shelves with.
- 21:31If you're a collector.
- 21:32The other thing that we always like to bring up during this episode
- 21:35is the books, especially those of us that are automotive historians.
- 21:38I don't think there's enough books that we can get our hands on.
- 21:41There's always something.
- 21:41There's something new coming out or a new way to look at history
- 21:45or a particular story or driver or event or, you know, situation
- 21:48or crash, you know, that happened.
- 21:50There's just a plethora of books and we always have the distinct
- 21:53privilege of having many authors on the show throughout the year.
- 21:56We had author Leanne Patterson on the show who wrote a children's
- 22:01book based on the true life events of another break fix guest.
- 22:05Anita Milliken and her husband Howard.
- 22:07And so it's all about their adventures, actually adopting a baby skunk,
- 22:11and making it part of their race team, and how it was involved in
- 22:15the paddocks, and they would take it around with them, things like that.
- 22:17So the book is called The Trouble with Howard, but I'll let Leanne tell
- 22:20you a little bit more about the book and how you can get a copy of it.
- 22:26Who wants to get into trouble?
- 22:27And just in time for Christmas.
- 22:30Before you gift the Trouble with Howard to your favorite little racer,
- 22:33be sure to fill out your pit pass.
- 22:35There's a place for your crew member name, a team affiliation that you can make up,
- 22:40and then you've issued the book to them.
- 22:43So make sure that you sign your name there.
- 22:45And then once they've issued that pit pass, they can go through
- 22:47the gates and into the story.
- 22:49The end sheets are also filled with fun racing bits.
- 22:52For instance, at the start of the story, Anita and Howard are
- 22:55enjoying pizza from Maria's, but at the end of the story, it's Aldo.
- 22:59Now, what famous twin brothers do we know named Mario and Aldo?
- 23:03There are 27 other things that are different.
- 23:06Perhaps you can find them all.
- 23:08Roger Warwick is an amazing artist.
- 23:10And he loves racing, too.
- 23:12You'll find that throughout the book, things look just like
- 23:15they do with the racetrack.
- 23:17And just in time for Christmas, you can use the code GETINTOTROUBLE.
- 23:22With the purchase of a book, that code will give you any two other items,
- 23:26including trouble, including trouble.
- 23:27We're 15 percent off and as always orders over 50 are always free shipping.
- 23:33So get into trouble this Christmas and your little racers will be
- 23:36inspired to always dream big.
- 23:40Are you a fan of the 24 hours of Lamont?
- 23:43Well, we've got something very special for you.

- 23:57race through these yearbooks.

- 24:02the most gripping battles to have marked the legendary race's history.

- 24:24your Lamar yearbooks at checkout.
- 24:27There's also an even deeper discount if you become a member of the ACO USA.
- 24:32And here's a couple of words from David Lowe.
- 24:34President of ACO USA about why you should become a member of the club.
- 24:40You definitely want to take advantage of what the members club has to offer.
- 24:44Got a lot to offer, like you talked about the ACO Tribune 1718.
- 24:50That's my go to tribune.
- 24:51Purchase access to La Chappelle, which is an incredible hospitality facility located
- 24:57there just beyond the Dunlop Bridge.
- 24:59It's an incredible, um, facility.
- 25:01viewing of Tetra Rouge cars coming through the Dunlop.
- 25:04It's a great place to view as well as the hospitality tense area.
- 25:08Honestly, big screen TVs give you the best.
- 25:12They're just these huge screens and you hear the sound right there and
- 25:15see him right now on the big screen.
- 25:16So it's a it's a wonderful place plan to go for a week.
- 25:19If you only go for the day of the race, you're gonna miss a lot.
- 25:22You need to Kind of watch the race come alive.
- 25:25The pits get built out and you want to get a paddock pass might
- 25:28cost you a few extra dollars.
- 25:30You want to do that with the club.
- 25:31So you've got access to La Chapelle and the members areas there at T17.
- 25:35So, but in the meantime, throughout the year, as we build up, you've got
- 25:38these events that we're putting together around the country, got the zoom meetings
- 25:42each month evening with a legend.
- 25:44Which absolutely are incredible.
- 25:46We're open to suggestions.
- 25:48A lot of the ideas we get come from volunteers that actually set it up for us.
- 25:52We have a lot of past presidents from other car clubs that are members that
- 25:55provide good sound wisdom and guidance for us as we grow our wings, if you will.
- 26:02If you're not a member of the ACO USA, did you know that you can
- 26:05purchase the entire behind the scenes collection of Evening with the Legends?
- 26:09and get continued updates for a one time fee by visiting our Patreon.
- 26:15We have a special price just for the Evening with a Legend collection.
- 26:18You can see the sessions that we recorded with Lynn St.
- 26:21James, with Mario Andretti, with Andy Pilgrim, the Camaradi Corvette team, and
- 26:25countless others that have Grace us with their stories on evening with the legend.
- 26:30So check that out details in the show notes.
- 26:32We have a few books here that we've thrown out there that have been great last year.
- 26:36I think it was Rodney Kemmerer brought about his tales from the garage,
- 26:40which of course is all of his columns from inside garage style magazine.
- 26:45He took all of them.
- 26:46Turbocharged the already very colorful, beautiful art and put him in his own book.
- 26:51And part of the fun thing about it is he made the book so that it was roughly
- 26:55the size of vehicle owner's manual.
- 26:57So it'll fit in your glove box.
- 26:58So you can have this thing wherever you go.
- 27:00You can show it to your friends, et cetera.
- 27:02If you haven't read any of his stories, he's a fantastic writer.
- 27:05He tells some wonderful stories.
- 27:07He's got some great stuff there.
- 27:08So tales from the garage.
- 27:10You can find that on Amazon.
- 27:14Thanks Eric and Don for having me on your podcast.
- 27:17We talk about tales from a garage, everyone has a car story,
- 27:20these just happen to be mine.
- 27:22These are personal stories of mine mixed with the stories of others.
- 27:26Part memoir, part the memory of other people.
- 27:28Each story stands alone, each chapter has its own graphic language that runs through
- 27:33each story so that nothing is repeated.
- 27:36It is designed with the shape and the feel of an automotive ownership, so
- 27:40it fits into your glove box so you can take And I'm hoping you do take a visit.
- 27:45It's available at tailsfromthegarage.
- 27:47com and it's available on Amazon.
- 27:51Next up, something from our very own, again, Matt Stone.
- 27:56He's written a spectacular book about the DeLorean automobile.
- 27:59He's spent a lot of time researching this book and looking into the nuances.
- 28:03He brought to light some various photographs and information from
- 28:08Italdesign Studios, where the car was actually designed by Giugiaro, called
- 28:12DeLorean, the rise, fall, and rise.
- 28:15And second acts of the DeLorean motor company.
- 28:17Again, you can find it on Amazon brand spanking new.
- 28:20It literally just got off the press.
- 28:22Another one would be from again, our very own Lance Lambert.
- 28:27We've spent years writing for Garage Style.
- 28:29As a matter of fact, he was our very first columnist, tremendous storyteller.
- 28:34He wrote a series of books.
- 28:36One of my favorites is Gears, Grins, and Gasoline.
- 28:39Very similar to Tales from the Garage, except Gears, Grins, and Gasoline.
- 28:43It's all about Lance's personal little stories.
- 28:46Some of them have very little to do with cars.
- 28:48Some of them have a lot to do with cars, but all of them
- 28:50have something to do with cars.
- 28:52And he takes you down that sort of Mayberry and trip down memory lane,
- 28:56which is always fun for car guys.
- 28:58Cause we're always kind of nostalgic.
- 29:00And of course, one of my favorites, the godfather of the movement,
- 29:03ultimate garages written by Phil Berg.
- 29:06Now he has three of these, but so far I've only been able to actually get ahold of.
- 29:10Two.
- 29:11Ultimate Garages was pretty much the first major effort of putting in print
- 29:16collections of garages that inspire people to make their garages even better.
- 29:21He has some of the best garages that have ever been seen in that book.
- 29:24It is an older book, but it's really definitely worth checking out.
- 29:27Again, find it on Amazon.
- 29:29So I have a book from a former guest, Dr Jacques Dallaire, the
- 29:34book is called performance thinking and basically he takes the reader
- 29:38through how people in competitive environments and just in life in
- 29:43general, they sabotage their own success.
- 29:45He works through steps on how to first recognize this sabotage and then gives
- 29:50you the tools you need to overcome these self imposed obstacles to
- 29:54become the best versions of yourself.
- 29:56He's got the performance thinking version and he also has one called
- 30:01helping kids perform, which is more how to help your children and younger
- 30:05kids that are in your life perform.
- 30:06He's also got one for law enforcement.
- 30:08So you can go to his website, performance prime.
- 30:11com to learn more and purchase some of these books.
- 30:13So he's a past gas, a great episode.
- 30:16If you want to go back through our catalog and listen to a great person
- 30:18to talk to, please buy his book.
- 30:24Hey guys, this is Bryce Kenney driver of the great cliffs Mohawk
- 30:27warrior, monster jam truck, and the author of geared for life.
- 30:31And if you're like me and ever get to that point, your head
- 30:34hits the pillow and you think, is this really all there is to life?
- 30:39Then maybe all you need to do is not be given some secret formula
- 30:43or some secret to success.
- 30:45Maybe all you need to do is.
- 30:47Find your next gear.
- 30:49That's what gear for life is all about.
- 30:51I would love and be honored if you would pick up a copy anywhere books are sold,
- 30:56go on Amazon, pick up your copy, and I'll see you down the road at Monster Jam.
- 31:00I'm a break fix fan.
- 31:02So let's keep it rolling.
- 31:03Thanks guys.
- 31:06Obviously, I've got a young kid, so a lot of the things that I have on here
- 31:09are purchasing gifts from my kids Mode, Motorhead Garage, children's books.
- 31:13They've got a series of different children's books getting them interested
- 31:17in, you know, the automotive world.
- 31:19What are things that dad and mom might say when they're talking about their cars?
- 31:22T is for Turbo is one of them.
- 31:24The sprocket rocket is about a motorcycle, the whiny supercharger.
- 31:28I mean, it's all just a lot of fun books to read with your children at night.
- 31:32So it's MHG productions dot com.
- 31:34It's Motorhead Garage Productions.
- 31:36Speaking of previous guests, author J.
- 31:37K.
- 31:38Kelly was on the show to talk to us about the first in his series
- 31:42with his character, Bryce Winters, and that was called Deadly Driver.
- 31:45And then he released.
- 31:46The sequel to that called Switchback.
- 31:48So that's available and he's got a couple other books and a new
- 31:51little intro into his latest book.
- 31:53So let's take a listen to that.
- 31:56If you feel the need, the need to read, perhaps The Lost Bird is a book for you.
- 32:01Check out J.
- 32:01K.
- 32:01Kelly's other book as well, Deadly Driver.
- 32:06And also on our Goodreads, we've got William Walker's The Last Lap.
- 32:11This was presented at last year's Argettsinger Symposium.
- 32:14It's all about the mysterious demise of William Walker's cousin,
- 32:19Peter Kreiss, at the Indianapolis 500 early days of the Indy 500.
- 32:23So there's some speculation as to was it sabotage?
- 32:27Did something break?
- 32:28Was it suicide?
- 32:29So there's a whole episode on that in our catalog, but the book
- 32:32itself goes into tons more detail and you can find this on Amazon.
- 32:36It's called The Last Lap by William Walker.
- 32:38Now let's hear from future Brake Fix guests, Corvette Hall of
- 32:42Famer and professional racing photographer, Richard Prince.
- 32:48I've written five books, three of them are in print.
- 32:51The C8 Corvette book was published this year.
- 32:54I wrote a 70th anniversary Corvette book that was published last year,
- 32:58and a C3 Corvette Restoration Guide book that was published 25
- 33:02years ago, but it's still in print.
- 33:04So, with the Christmas season coming up, it's in the works.
- 33:07The, uh, people hearing this want a, uh, nice gift for a car lover
- 33:12in your life, particularly a Corvette enthusiast in your life.
- 33:14They can contact me and I'll be happy to ship out a signed book to them.
- 33:21And one more on our Goodreads list.
- 33:24Racing While Black by Leonard T.
- 33:26Miller and Andrew Simon.
- 33:27This is all about the story of an African American stock car team
- 33:32that made its mark on NASCAR.
- 33:34If you haven't read this book, and if you're a NASCAR fan,
- 33:37you ought to check this out.
- 33:39This is one of those stories, Unsung Heroes.
- 33:41NASCAR is still one of those sports where you can really shake the tree
- 33:45and you can make things happen.
- 33:46And stories like this are awesome.
- 33:47Definitely check it out.
- 33:48So Racing While Black, also available.
- 33:50On Amazon and this along with a bunch of other books that we recommend are in our
- 33:56goodreads which are linked in The show notes along with this episode and the last
- 34:01book I have but it's also a transition into Artwork a little bit of both friend
- 34:05of the show one of the custodians of the green grand prix for over 20 years
- 34:10Painter bob gillespie wrote a book.
- 34:13It's called one track mind And it's part memoir, part art collection where he
- 34:18describes the evolution of the Watkins Glen area from the early days of the
- 34:23first track, through the interim track, through the current Grand Prix track.
- 34:26It's full of really interesting stories, quotes from very famous
- 34:30race car drivers, people that he's met, people he's painted for.
- 34:33The painting section of the book alone has 84 of his over 100 and some odd
- 34:40paintings and we're going to do an episode that follows along with this to
- 34:44dive deeper into Bob's story and you can learn all about One Track Mind, where the
- 34:49inspiration for these paintings came from.
- 34:54Hello, I'm Bob Gillespie and for 2025 instead of producing a calendar I'm
- 35:00offering a book I've completed containing 84 of my best paintings, 25 drawings,
- 35:06and 4 of my murals whose subjects span nearly a century of American road racing.
- 35:11This is not a book of racing statistics, but an entertaining celebration
- 35:16of racing moments, primarily at Watkins Glen, captured in paint.
- 35:20Numerous quotes and recollections by drivers of the original Watkins
- 35:24Glen road circuit directly to me appear throughout the book.
- 35:28Additional quotes by artists relating to the creative process lend further
- 35:32insight and food for thought.
- 35:34This is a uniquely personal and sometimes humorous tour through
- 35:38American road racing history.
- 35:40One Track Mind also describes how the encouragement and advice of
- 35:44well known race drivers and artists shaped my life from an early age.
- 35:48The book is available for 35 plus 5 shipping at my website, www.
- 35:55glenspeed.
- 35:57com.
- 35:59And I'd like to wish everybody Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.
- 36:02I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
- 36:06Absolutely gorgeous book.
- 36:08It's a wonderful read.
- 36:09It's a lot of fun.
- 36:10And it gives you a lot of insight into Bob and his lifetime in motorsport.
- 36:15And one other little bit of trivia.
- 36:17Did you know he's also the artist that drew the cover art for
- 36:21Burt Levy's The Last Open Road?
- 36:23You'll find more interesting stories like that in One Track Mind.
- 36:27Okay, so for artwork, got a plethora of places to go for.
- 36:30One of my favorites though is garageart.
- 36:33com.
- 36:33There's a company that's grown leaps and bounds over the years.
- 36:36It has a multitude of products for the garage, the home, the office, all
- 36:40largely related to the autosphere.
- 36:42Or the enthusiast's desire just to enjoy a little nostalgia.
- 36:46One of our favorites is the winged Honda neon sign.
- 36:50Nicely priced.
- 36:51It's a great piece that'll bring home some cool vibes in basically any room.
- 36:56Well, speaking of artists, guests of the show, Kelly Telfer is
- 36:59running a holiday sale on his art.
- 37:03Eric just asked me, what are we doing for holiday promotions and sales?
- 37:07I'm going to double my retail price and give you 50 percent off everything.
- 37:12Including free.
- 37:13You might get a good painting for 500 bucks.
- 37:15Well, it's an okay painting.
- 37:17I don't know.
- 37:17You can't see all the stuff I have.
- 37:18You want artifacts?
- 37:19Come here.
- 37:19I'll give you a bunch of junk that's really cool, but sorry
- 37:23UPS FedEx Love you guys, man.
- 37:24You've saved me a million times.
- 37:26You're the best.
- 37:27Go Raiders!

- 37:33KT441.
- 37:34So that's KT, the number four, F O R 1.
- 37:38And the promotion goes like this.
- 37:40November the 1st through December the 18th, buy any four 14 prints at 60 each
- 37:47and get one 16 by 20 absolutely free.
- 37:51He's got all sorts of really cool Porsche stuff, Volkswagen, Jeep, et cetera.
- 37:55I've seen a lot of Kelly's work.
- 37:56It's beautiful.
- 37:57It looks great hanging up on the wall.
- 37:59My kids have some Kelly tell for art in their bedrooms, which is fantastic.
- 38:03So again, discount code K T four for one.
- 38:07Transform your living room, office, hallway, bedroom, garage, or workshop
- 38:11with a stunning motorsport art and make this Hollist Day season one to remember.
- 38:15Another great place to pick up some art from is car art us.
- 38:20These guys handle some original commissioned art pieces
- 38:23by professional artists.
- 38:24Pete Alet, the owner of Car Art.
- 38:27It's a good friend of mine, but also he can hook you up with some amazing stuff.
- 38:31He is a petrol head through and through.
- 38:33He was a designer for years at Mazda.
- 38:36What's really cool about him.
- 38:38Let's say you've got a really cool picture of a special loved
- 38:41one with their special car.
- 38:43You can give that to Pete and work with him to find the artist that would be best.
- 38:49Turn that picture, turn that Polaroid into a one of a kind
- 38:53piece of art from a real artist.
- 38:54That's really something special.
- 38:56Granted, we're edging in here on the holidays.
- 38:59So this might be something you want to hold off for a birthday or maybe next
- 39:03year for Christmas because obviously the artist needs a little time to paint it.
- 39:06But if that's not up your alleyway, he can also hook you up with
- 39:10all kinds of really cool stuff.
- 39:11So again, that's carart.
- 39:13us.
- 39:14And Brad, we had pinstripe Chris Dunlop on the show.
- 39:17Let's hear what he has to say.
- 39:21I post new stuff every week on Instagram and usually the new stuff is also
- 39:25listed on the website at the same time.
- 39:27Uh, art of chrisdunlop.
- 39:29com and pinstripe underscore chris on Instagram, showing new videos as regularly
- 39:33as possible, new artwork, and that's usually the best way to get ahold of me.
- 39:36Either contact me through the website or straight through Instagram.
- 39:39I'm still one of those weird people that tries to respond to every
- 39:41message and every comment that I can.
- 39:43Thank you for responding to us.
- 39:44Yeah, I think that's how we got connected.
- 39:47Yeah.
- 39:48Sometimes you do commissions.
- 39:50It's very rare.
- 39:51I do that, but you will entertain ideas, but you start with always,
- 39:54I'll always hear somebody out.
- 39:56Yeah, exactly.
- 39:57Exactly.
- 39:57I, it's just simpler that way.
- 39:59There's not enough time in the day to say yes to everybody.
- 40:02I would like to, but for the time and the expanse, I want to make sure that
- 40:06artwork is going in the hands of people that are like, I realize they're just
- 40:08paintings of cars, but for some people, this is like part of their family, or
- 40:12it's a really important part of them.
- 40:14Or it's an aspiration car.
- 40:16And it's not always easy to find those types of people
- 40:18that are interested in artwork.
- 40:19But to me, there's not one type of car person.
- 40:21I think there's a lot of like passive people that enjoy cars, but there's
- 40:24some really diehard car people.
- 40:26And I just really want to make sure that if I'm putting the
- 40:28effort into It's for the people that are really serious about it.
- 40:31So what we haven't talked about is how does one go about acquiring
- 40:36some Samantha Zimmerman artwork?
- 40:38So for commissions, if you go to my website, you can hit a contact form and
- 40:43you can fill out all the information and send me an email with that, or
- 40:47you can send me an email directly.
- 40:49It's samzimmermanart at gmail.
- 40:51com.
- 40:52If you're looking at buying an original for me of my produced works, I have
- 40:56them all listed on my website as well.
- 40:58I do have prints of the majority of my work.
- 41:01Just get in touch with me and I'm more than happy to assist from there.
- 41:04If you have any inquiries about things I have listed on the website or prints,
- 41:09anything to that effect, like I said, you're welcome to get in touch with me.
- 41:12I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
- 41:17William, you've been awful quiet, but you've got some art on the table.
- 41:20You want to talk about for a man cave, but this would be someone I would say that
- 41:24has a rather large collection of vehicles.
- 41:26Those of you who don't know who Gerald Lang is, I definitely recommend looking
- 41:29him up and doing a search on him.
- 41:31He's a great guy.
- 41:31Fantastic guy, very interesting guy.
- 41:33I like to tell people it's kind of more of a modern Warhol type situation.
- 41:37Very big into cars, loves motorcycles.
- 41:39Did some trips across the U.
- 41:41S.
- 41:41on his bike.
- 41:42Definitely recommend checking him out.
- 41:43But I have a couple of his pieces he did towards the end of his life.
- 41:47When he first started doing his pieces, he was very heavily
- 41:49into cars and motorcycles.
- 41:51And then he got into other things and towards the end he got
- 41:53back into what his passion was.
- 41:54Drag racing and specifically Don Garlitz was one of his muses, I
- 41:58guess you could say, and he did two pieces that I have available.
- 42:02We have a few others, but these are the ones kind of made me focus
- 42:04on, but the one is rather large.
- 42:06It's over 20 feet long and almost six feet high, so I mean it's a
- 42:10big piece of him and the Swamp Rat.
- 42:12I have another one smaller, but They're very statement like pieces for
- 42:16wherever you may put them up again.
- 42:18You know, you're talking mid to high six figure range on each piece.
- 42:21These are some of some deep pockets, but they're outstanding pieces.
- 42:24And if anything, I said, check out Gerald Lang, look them up online.
- 42:27He has with any artist.
- 42:28You can always buy the stuff.
- 42:29That's just the copies of it and everything like that.
- 42:31But he's got some really cool pieces and he does.
- 42:33He's got some stuff on Jim Clark.
- 42:34Delves in F1s and some of his pieces and that.
- 42:36So he's got some really cool stuff.
- 42:38So I highly recommend checking out Gerald Lang.
- 42:40You see, William never forgets.
- 42:41Money presents to the party.
- 42:43I feel like this should be under rich people things.
- 42:45It's right there.
- 42:46My man, I had the same thought, Brad.
- 42:49It's like, where's this fall into since we're talking about rich people things.
- 42:54How about some limited edition prints that are now up for
- 42:58grabs signed by the man himself?
- 43:00Juan Fangio.
- 43:01How many thousands of dollars do these cost?
- 43:04So what it says here, they're in the hands of the guy that did these original
- 43:08prints and got them signed or whatever.
- 43:09I don't know how many he has, and this is over on Exotic Car Marketplace.
- 43:13It was valued 500 10 years ago, so it's not 500 today.
- 43:17So now they're two grand, three grand each.
- 43:19Okay, let's say it's a thousand.
- 43:21That's still Fangio.
- 43:23Put his sharpie on it.
- 43:25That's history, right?
- 43:26So to get a signed print, now granted it's going to cost you
- 43:29500 to ship it from Australia.
- 43:31500 bucks for a piece of artwork signed by Fangio?
- 43:35Add that to your Christmas list.
- 43:36If you're interested in getting one of these, the contact information
- 43:39to reach Kevin Waite in Australia is at Exotic Car Marketplace.
- 43:43Just search for Limited Edition Prints.
- 43:45We're coming across and starting to get some really cool artists that are reaching
- 43:50out to want to get on the website.
- 43:52I highly recommend checking it out.
- 43:53We're really expanding what we have on the site in regards to, we'd say memorabilia.
- 43:58You can't just have your cars over there.
- 43:59You got to have the posters.
- 44:00You got to have like that.
- 44:01So we're really trying to expand what our offerings are because once you
- 44:03get your car, then what do you do?
- 44:04You got to buy all the trinkets and everything that go along with
- 44:07it to, uh, put things on your wall and everything like that.
- 44:09So you really need some real good ideas.
- 44:10You talk with Don.
- 44:11Now he knows all the people and get some really good ideas for your garage.
- 44:14I know a few guys.
- 44:15We'll come back to that shortly.
- 44:17But Brad, you got a couple of art pieces on this list.
- 44:19The first site that I found is canvas for the number four walls.
- 44:25com.
- 44:25They've got a whole section dedicated to cars, mostly
- 44:28Porsches and things like that.
- 44:29There are canvas prints.
- 44:31Not quite 20 feet wide, but you can get them up to five feet wide, which anybody
- 44:35that's going to put something in their house, that's a pretty large piece of art.
- 44:39They're reasonably priced, 160, 170 for something that at large, a lot of
- 44:43different Porsches, a lot of overhead views of the Porsche is some F1 stuff.
- 44:47It's pretty cool stuff on this site.
- 44:49And then the next website, as I'm sure everybody's seen, is Petrol Vibes.
- 44:53They make these metal silhouette frames of vehicles.
- 44:57I've been eyeing the Porsche 911 Turbo and the GT3 RS.
- 45:01A lot of really cool stuff on their site.
- 45:03They're all reasonably priced, less than 100.
- 45:05Everything's on sale now, almost 50 percent off.
- 45:08Got track maps as well.
- 45:09They've got the Nurburgring.
- 45:10Some of them light up.
- 45:11They've got neon lights underneath.
- 45:13Check their website, see what they got.
- 45:15You'll definitely find something for your wall.
- 45:16You gotta get the 9 64 silhouette to go with your 9 64 headlamp.
- 45:21Come on.
- 45:21I mean, you gotta have the matching.
- 45:22Of course.
- 45:22Of course, of course.
- 45:23And you gotta go to that mecu on time to find your 9 64 service manual.
- 45:27Nine 60 fours are hot right now.
- 45:29That's all I'm gonna say.
- 45:30So hot right now, . And then the last thing I have tuner cartoons.com.
- 45:36You basically, the way this works, you send them pictures of your
- 45:39vehicle, they will turn it into.
- 45:42Art.
- 45:42You can choose a couple of different styles, more like a lifelike
- 45:45digital image, or they can turn it into more of a cartoony image.
- 45:48They will send it back to you and then you can use it for making custom stickers,
- 45:52for phone cases, t shirts, or hoodies.
- 45:55If you've got somebody that loves their car and you want to do something nice
- 45:58for them, take a picture, create a t shirt for them, go to tunercartoons.
- 46:02com and they can go ahead and hook you up.
- 46:04This is really cool.
- 46:05I thought you might like that.
- 46:06Yeah, that's cool.
- 46:07Well played.
- 46:09Well, we got a new section on our holiday shopping guide music.
- 46:14Well, where did this come from?
- 46:15Don, what have you done to music?
- 46:17What is this about music and cars?
- 46:19Those don't go together.
- 46:20Wait, what is this?
- 46:20No, it's not like we don't have a podcast episode about it.
- 46:23Not at all.
- 46:24Brad music and cars go together hand in hand, depending on who you're talking to.
- 46:29A lot of times I've noticed race car drivers don't particularly agree with me.
- 46:33That's why we put speakers in our helmets.
- 46:35You see, so, you know, for those of us who just loaf around in our Chrysler DCs,
- 46:39we listen to music, we have a nice time.
- 46:41It's enjoyable.
- 46:42We have a glass of wine.
- 46:43It's wonderful.
- 46:44But going into that, nothing goes better than just chilling out in
- 46:48your garage, doing whatever it is you do in your garage, and maybe
- 46:52having a few tunes in the background.
- 46:54If you're not streaming it to your headphones and looking like some
- 46:5715 year old punk, you probably want something that fills the garage space
- 47:01with a warm and a charm of nostalgia.
- 47:04And for that, I highly recommend basically anything from the Crosley company.
- 47:09They've been making radios forever, and yes, they are related at one point to
- 47:14the Crosley car company, but that being said, my favorite at the moment, which is.
- 47:19Perfect for a garage because it's the right size.
- 47:21It's not too big.
- 47:22It's not too small.
- 47:23It's got great sound reproduction.
- 47:24It's the Crosley Fleetwood radio CD.
- 47:27And the reason I love this, not only just because of its size and
- 47:30its quality, but it's got two cars in the name, Crosley and Fleetwood.
- 47:34Perfect for the garage.
- 47:35It's a compact stereo.
- 47:36It's a CD player with an FM and of course, Bluetooth in case you want to stream
- 47:41something from your private collection.
- 47:43Again, you can find it at Amazon.
- 47:46Just look up the Crosley Fleetwood radio CD and it shall be yours for what
- 47:51they used to call a high five back in the day for 149 95, compared to some
- 47:59of the other stuff that's out there.
- 48:00This is a super versatile, got all the options, AM, FM, Bluetooth.
- 48:04Like you said, CD player, all that.
- 48:05This is a really good deal.
- 48:07That's a good find.
- 48:08Not bad.
- 48:08Right.
- 48:09Don opened up the door, so I'm just going through it for a lot of us that have older
- 48:14cars, you know, we can't really add a navigation to it or, you know, a lot of
- 48:18these newer stereo systems just won't fit.
- 48:20They're all doubled in our cars have singled in.
- 48:23You can get the CarFlix portable CarPlay Android auto screen.
- 48:27Basically it looks like one of those Garmin GPS devices you put on your
- 48:32dash, except it's a wide screen, adds CarPlay and Android to your vehicle.
- 48:37Connects to either Bluetooth or it can be a wired connection through aux cable.
- 48:41You can also connect through FM transmitter, Tanya.
- 48:44I don't know if it'll do the cassette connection, but you can always use the
- 48:49FM transmitter if you have to connect to any modern phone and it will allow
- 48:53you to use your CarPlay or Android auto right there from the screen.
- 48:57The FM transmitter doesn't work very well, unless they've made better ones.
- 49:00I know.
- 49:01I think the aux cable, you can probably get it to work with the tape deck.
- 49:05I know the tape deck is always the best option.
- 49:07I had trouble with the FM.
- 49:09You know, I remember a time I had a Lincoln and I had an eight
- 49:12track player and I had an eight track converter for it to set.
- 49:15So I put that in there.
- 49:16And then I got the cassette converter for CD and I put that
- 49:20in, in the eight track converter.
- 49:21And then I was able to run my CD player, you know, in my Lincoln.
- 49:25I felt so cool.
- 49:27It's audio and such a string of stuff coming out of the eight track.
- 49:31You know, the last time I saw an eight track player was when my dad
- 49:34was throwing one out the window because it ate his eight track.
- 49:39We'd be remiss if we didn't talk about watches.
- 49:42I know this is Don's favorite thing to talk about.
- 49:45You know, I went back and I listened to previous holiday specials that we've
- 49:48done, especially once we got together with garage style and started combining
- 49:52our shopping lists and things like that.
- 49:54You know, some of those watches Tag Hauers will blow your mind in terms of how
- 49:58expensive they are and things like that.
- 49:59But I found one I'm over the top.
- 50:01I'm macho man, Randy Savage.
- 50:03I'm coming in with the elbow.
- 50:04I'm coming in with the Bremont Isle of Man TT.
- 50:08Watch.
- 50:09Have you seen this?
- 50:11This is a killer watch for the Lolo bargain.
- 50:14Rich people.
- 50:15Thanks.
- 50:15Price of 6, 600.
- 50:18That's actually not that bad.
- 50:20Eric's like, Oh my God.
- 50:21It's the sexiest watch live.
- 50:23William Ross.
- 50:24It's not that bad, man.
- 50:25And the price is a big money Ross.
- 50:27Watch here, man.
- 50:28Come on now.
- 50:29Malibu Ross.
- 50:30It doesn't look big money though, but it's Bremont.
- 50:33It's a high end brand.
- 50:34You're talking Swiss movement.
- 50:35You're talking all the stuff that you're supposed to have on the internals part.
- 50:38It's a chronometer.
- 50:40If you're a motorcycle enthusiast, if you're a fan of the Isle
- 50:43of man, That speaks to me.
- 50:44I think this is cool.
- 50:45Yeah, I actually really like the watch.
- 50:47I prefer the white face.
- 50:48You're right, it doesn't scream 6, 600 watch.
- 50:52I kind of like watches that are a little more subtle.
- 50:55I mean, come on, I wear a swatch every day.
- 50:57It's just black with a stainless face.
- 50:59Wonder why I wear that watch.
- 51:01But anyway.
- 51:02Yeah, I like this Bremont though.
- 51:03This is really, really a nice looking watch and you're right.
- 51:06You really can't go wrong with a Bremont.
- 51:07These are tremendous watches.
- 51:09And they are limited production.
- 51:11So you do have to reach out to them for availability.
- 51:14The white ones where the black one is.
- 51:17Either way, that's like, oh, that's good looking.
- 51:20All right.
- 51:20Moving on.
- 51:21Don, what do you got for us in the watch department?
- 51:24Okay.
- 51:24So I'm going to go from rich guy stuff only to China, rich guy stuff only.
- 51:29Cause I still can't afford these things.
- 51:30Well, it's one of those things almost anybody can afford one of my watches.
- 51:34It's just a question of.
- 51:35Are you cheap?
- 51:36So the first one up on the list.
- 51:38Nothing like a nice timepiece, especially when it's inclined to motor sports.
- 51:42The Farrell and Company Watch Story is the stuff that dreams are made of.
- 51:46And one of their products is the Race Master Chronograph.
- 51:50Measuring 39 millimeters, the brushed 316 stainless steel case and domed
- 51:55crystal construction are remarkable.
- 51:58German made with Japanese movement.
- 52:00It features a C3 illumination and soft Italian racing style straps.
- 52:06And then if you don't like that one, they have a ton of other
- 52:09motorsport related watches.
- 52:10One of which I've got, which is the 356 and it is a watch that literally Face
- 52:16of it looks like the speedometer of the 356 Porsche really kind of a cool watch.
- 52:20I really like that watch Yeah, this is in line with the old gulf livery thing
- 52:25that was in vogue for the last couple of years It's a nice looking watch.
- 52:28I really like the wristband the blue stitching it and everything and 39
- 52:31millimeter That's a little smaller than I think a lot of folks are used to
- 52:35anymore So almost a good unisex watch in that sense that it's not too big for a
- 52:40lady's wrist also Not too small To where every day versus some of these 50 plus
- 52:46millimeter watches that are out there.
- 52:48Nowadays, one thing too, that I learned just recently talking to
- 52:51a couple of watch aficionados.
- 52:53They're saying that they're really big.
- 52:54Watch faces are actually starting to lose traction.
- 52:57People are buying smaller and smaller.
- 52:59They want a little bit more of that subtle look.
- 53:02They want something that doesn't might stand out as much as maybe they used to.
- 53:06One of my buddies is a dealer.
- 53:07He's actually having trouble moving.
- 53:09These heavier, larger watches, he's having a lot of trouble
- 53:12selling them on the used market.
- 53:14Nobody wants them anymore.
- 53:15So at 39 millimeters, it definitely does step in line with, you know,
- 53:19what modern people are looking for.
- 53:21I like the British racing green version.
- 53:23Yeah.
- 53:24That's that one speaks to me with the cream band.
- 53:27Yeah.
- 53:27So moving down the list.
- 53:29You've got another brand that you're pretty fond of.
- 53:31I do, DePansel.
- 53:32Is it DePansel or Depan sel?
- 53:34That I don't know.
- 53:35Depan sel, Alpine versus Alpine, however you want to say it.
- 53:40They are a maker of fine motorsports inspired watches, and one of our
- 53:44favorites is the Allure line.
- 53:47Available in a multitude of colors and faces.
- 53:49Our favorite features, the performance blue leather strap.
- 53:53It measures 39 millimeters, got a Sapphire crystal and a
- 53:56blue face assembled in France.
- 53:58You can find out all kinds of cool stuff about the DePansel watch company.
- 54:03Again, at the DePansel website.
- 54:05Like Ferro, they too make a ton of different styles of
- 54:09motorsports inspired watches.
- 54:11So if you don't happen to like the Allure or you don't think the person you're going
- 54:14to be buying it from might be a fan of it.
- 54:16They should have something there that'll tickle your fancy again.
- 54:19The allure stradale that a day is really speaking to me.
- 54:23I'm, I'm a huge fan of British racing green right up my alley.
- 54:26Well, you know, what's cool about these?
- 54:28It's the little details that you have to really focus in on.
- 54:31Like the watch bands between.
- 54:34The Depencel and the Faro and company are very similar, but if you notice that the
- 54:39Depencel, they have this extra little bit of stitching, it's like a red, white and
- 54:42blue for, you know, the French flag or whatever it is, and I think that's neat.
- 54:46And when you really start to focus in on it, you start to notice other little
- 54:50details like that, that they've added in as accents to make it stand out.
- 54:55And it's not something ostentatious, you have to look at it like three times to go.
- 54:58Is that what I think it is?
- 55:00So I think that's really cool.
- 55:01And for the price, you get all those little extras and those
- 55:04little Easter eggs, if you will.
- 55:05That's neat.
- 55:06It's something to talk about.
- 55:07And when people look at your watch, like, wow, that's, I've
- 55:09never seen anything like that.
- 55:10Yeah.
- 55:10One of my favorites, I'm looking at it right now.
- 55:12It's called the Elegance 24H Panda.
- 55:15If you don't run your cursor over it, it's just a white face with
- 55:19the black chronograph and then black straps with the perforation.
- 55:23I think that watch is absolutely stunning.
- 55:26It's very simple.
- 55:27It's.
- 55:2840 millimeters.
- 55:28So just a little bit bigger, but I look at that watch and the
- 55:31simplicity of it, the beauty of it.
- 55:34And it's just a stunning looking watch.
- 55:35But to your point, Eric, yeah.
- 55:37When you really start looking at it, you do see the little details like
- 55:41the little red stripe in the crown.
- 55:43Yeah.
- 55:43If you look at the stitching, it's just a beautiful watch.
- 55:46The whole family has gorgeous watches.
- 55:48You want something sub a thousand dollars.
- 55:50You should definitely be looking at this.
- 55:52Well, I mean, look at that one, that Panda I was talking about,
- 55:55it's been cut from 650 to 395.
- 55:58That's a hell of a cut, it really is.
- 56:00And there's some rebadged fossils out there for that price, if you
- 56:03want to go in that direction.
- 56:04So why not get something unique like this, a little bit more boutique.
- 56:08Especially, they're making their own components now internally,
- 56:11so that's kind of cool.
- 56:12But, you can't just go out of the house with watches.
- 56:16You gotta have some fashion to go along with it.
- 56:18One of the sites that I posted, the Cafe Leather site, they've
- 56:21got like those overnight bags and those small road trip type bags.
- 56:24Well, I'm glad you brought that up because another place to shop for stuff like that,
- 56:28fine leather goods that are motorsport inspired, is actually the Le Mans store.
- 56:33And again, going back to David Lowe talking about, you know, the
- 56:36discounts you get and things like that, becoming an ACO USA member.
- 56:39I mean, the discounts are pretty steep.
- 56:40You can get upwards of 50 percent off, but if you go to the lemans.
- 56:43org and go to the store, which you can look at the French version, but
- 56:47switch over to English, you'll see the leather jackets that they have.
- 56:50They have some really, really cool stuff.
- 56:531959 Le Mans inspired Shelby jackets.
- 56:56They've got the bags, they've got the purses, they've got the backpacks.
- 56:59I happened to see their leather goods in person when I was there for the 100th.
- 57:03And you would walk into the booths.
- 57:05You knew exactly what you were buying.
- 57:06You knew what you were getting.
- 57:07That was that rawhide smell.
- 57:09It was real leather.
- 57:10It's really nice.
- 57:11And so when you look at it, you don't go, Well, that's some
- 57:14Chinese knockoff stuff or whatever.
- 57:16This is really nice.
- 57:17So when you look at the price, You go, I'm getting graded leather for that kind of
- 57:22money, plus your membership discount, it's well worth checking out the LeMans store.
- 57:26Who is the company building on what you're saying about the
- 57:281950s Aston Martin racing suit?
- 57:31William knows then.
- 57:32Shu Teal.
- 57:33Because I know they have a lot of that stuff.
- 57:35I first discovered them when I was at Pebble Beach.
- 57:37Sterling Moss wearing their one polo, but yeah, they make all
- 57:39that retro and stuff like that.
- 57:41They got some really neat stuff.
- 57:42They don't have like a ton of product, but the product they do have is really cool.
- 57:45Wow.
- 57:45These guys aren't just making bags.
- 57:46They're actually trying to cater to the motorsport community.
- 57:50So I thought that was really nice too.
- 57:51Jordan bespoke's got some really gorgeous leather bag wear and that, you know, they
- 57:56do the inside linings, like they'll take like a golf logo or Lotus or something
- 58:00like that, they do some really nice stuff.
- 58:03And car people are known for throwing a few clothes in a, in a
- 58:06nice bag, throwing it in the trunk and going away for the weekend.
- 58:09The point's unknown.
- 58:10It's kind of like along the line with like watches, but also with the bags.
- 58:12But I'll still look at something and say, Oh my God, I spent how much on this?
- 58:15But a nice bag, a nice watch.
- 58:17That's something that's going to last you, you take care of it
- 58:20your lifetime, especially on bags.
- 58:22You start getting that patina to it and the wear.
- 58:24I say that from just getting tossed around.
- 58:25I need to get that really cool look that just over time, you get it.
- 58:28And that's one thing you look at this stuff.
- 58:29We have someone that's got to wear with all the pay 1500,
- 58:33two, three grand for a bag.
- 58:34So we didn't get the guy only can afford something that's, you know, 50 bucks.
- 58:37So the problem is, is the guy that bought the bag for the higher
- 58:39price, he's only going to buy that one for, to have that forever.
- 58:42Another person, you buy a bag.
- 58:44Two, three years later, it falls apart.
- 58:45They buy another one.
- 58:46Two years later, they buy another one.
- 58:47You spend those few extra dollars, you're going to have something
- 58:49that's going to last you a long time because it's just built better.
- 58:51It's made better.
- 58:51The quality is better.
- 58:52Everything like that.
- 58:53It's just, it's a lot nicer product.
- 58:54And I think a lot of this is culminating into this whole trend that we're
- 58:58seeing of dress like your heroes.
- 59:00And we sort of alluded to this last year without really knowing about it.
- 59:03There was a lot of Steve McQueen stuff and a lot of other things
- 59:06that were surfacing in our world.
- 59:09And we're kind of looking at Fashion and bags and attire and accessories
- 59:13like watches and things like that.
- 59:14But now we've got the Shelby collection, the new Lamont's fall
- 59:18collection, which has other dress like your heroes type of thing.
- 59:21And then we take it to a whole nother extreme, right?
- 59:23William with the whole Tazio Nuvalari collection.
- 59:26Yeah.
- 59:26I mean, you're getting very specific.
- 59:28And again, though, the nice thing though, it's not stuff that you might've seen
- 59:31to say 10, 20 years ago, it's just a complete knockoff type cheap crap.
- 59:35They're getting made over in China or something, you know,
- 59:37this stuff is very nice quality.
- 59:39product.
- 59:40Tying in with using Tazio Nuvolari's name.
- 59:43What's great with these guys, especially the magazine as
- 59:45well, they're working together.
- 59:47The magazine, Tazio Nuvolari Collection Clothing line, but then also the
- 59:50museum, they all kind of work hand in hand, and they're great guys.
- 59:53Oh, me and Eric done some stuff with these guys.
- 59:55They're really great people.
- 59:57Plain on the name, whatnot, but it's a name people know, and the people
- 1:00:00that know the name are the target market that they want to go after too.
- 1:00:03People that really love racing and know the history of racing,
- 1:00:07they're going to go after.
- 1:00:07And knowing who Tazio Nuvolari was, it plays a big role in it.
- 1:00:11Porsche is getting into that game too.
- 1:00:13They just announced two weeks ago, the Andiol collection is
- 1:00:17now available through Porsche.
- 1:00:18com.
- 1:00:18Have you seen this stuff?
- 1:00:19We're talking retro, motorsports inspired Porsche collection.
- 1:00:23One of the more famous, Privateer Porsche builders is Andy all it looks so cool.
- 1:00:29You got to justify the price, but it's like, man, this stuff is pretty awesome.
- 1:00:32And I know Brad is a fan of Brown.
- 1:00:35Brown is back again, but they've also contracted with major suppliers like
- 1:00:39Puma and others to be able to put the Andy all livery on all this attire.
- 1:00:45And again, this is dress like your heroes type of stuff.
- 1:00:47And I think this is really cool.
- 1:00:48Talking about falling prey to the Instagram gimmicks and whatnot.
- 1:00:52My wife got me a gift.
- 1:00:53I consider it an accessory.
- 1:00:55I consider it apparel.
- 1:00:56And I got to shine a little bit of light.
- 1:01:00She got you those.
- 1:01:01That's awesome.
- 1:01:02So basically they're working gloves or you put them over your gloves and
- 1:01:06they have little LED lights on your pinky finger and your index finger.
- 1:01:10So you can shine light.
- 1:01:12Where you're working.
- 1:01:13Don't look like for someone who's got an issue with porn.
- 1:01:15They are very S and M like I don't get it, but you know, I do have the
- 1:01:19glasses with the LEDs in them, which are pretty cool because then again, you're
- 1:01:23shining light where you're looking and it's not that goofy headlamp.
- 1:01:26Look like you're like a minor in the old days of Pennsylvania or West
- 1:01:29Virginia or something like that.
- 1:01:30So these are kind of neat.
- 1:01:31I don't know how they're going to hold up because I worry that
- 1:01:34they're just going to get dirty.
- 1:01:35They're kind of cool.
- 1:01:36They're super lightweight.
- 1:01:37They're pretty easy to put on.
- 1:01:38So I'll give them a try.
- 1:01:40Worst case, I'll use them for something else.
- 1:01:41I also want to highlight, my daughter and I, we were at this year's Comic Con.
- 1:01:46We have a collection of art from a local artist, Ben Leung, who does
- 1:01:50this sort of almost caricature style.
- 1:01:53He does these really cool recreations of like the scene from Friends,
- 1:01:57where they're all together, but it's like comic book characters.
- 1:01:59And he does Darth Vader with Luke and Leia as kids, you know, giving them
- 1:02:03ice cream and they're on like the Tilt A Whirl, and it's a really good Fun
- 1:02:07way to reimagine some of the classics.
- 1:02:09My show and tell for this one is the t shirt that I'm wearing right now because
- 1:02:13when I was at Comic Con I went to his booth to check out what he had and I could
- 1:02:17not pass up buying his interpretation of the classic drift anime series Initial D.
- 1:02:24So he did the RX 7 and the AE 86 together drifting down Mount Akina in his style.
- 1:02:30The shirt's awesome.
- 1:02:31It's a very nice Heathered black kind of almost jersey material very breathable.
- 1:02:36I love wearing this shirt.
- 1:02:37It's a lot of fun I thought it was 39 bucks well spent for something unique
- 1:02:41done by an artist rather than done by a machine or done by ai So I thought
- 1:02:45this was really cool And you can pick up stuff like this by visiting his instagram
- 1:02:49page and we'll have the link to that in the show notes as well Hey everybody.

- 1:04:06So you can order them through Bloopshift or go directly to Heeltread.
- 1:04:09And I got one more t shirt for you guys.
- 1:04:11These we had designed for GTM's 10th anniversary.
- 1:04:16These are Sparco inspired.
- 1:04:17These are limited edition.
- 1:04:19We do have limited sizes both in men's and women's cut.
- 1:04:22In black and in white.
- 1:04:24Celebrating our 10th anniversary, starting in 2014.
- 1:04:29So these are the Grand Touring Motorsports Enthusiasm shirts, 10th anniversary,
- 1:04:33again, a lightweight, breathable t shirt, machine wash, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:04:37We put the design together based on a vintage Sparco design that we saw.
- 1:04:40So I really liked these.
- 1:04:41These were a lot of fun.
- 1:04:42We had these when we were at the Argent Singer Symposium earlier in the fall.
- 1:04:46But if you're interested in getting.
- 1:04:48Any of these give us a shout crew chief at gtmotorsports.
- 1:04:52org or sign up for patreon and we'll send you one if we have a size that matches and
- 1:04:56if we have enough demand maybe we can do a second run or something like that but
- 1:05:00we'll be posting more details about the 10th anniversary t shirts on the clubhouse
- 1:05:04website so that'll be over at club.
- 1:05:06gtmotorsports.
- 1:05:07org circling back to don's point about the bags and everything a
- 1:05:11cool website i found cafeleather.
- 1:05:14com They've got some pretty neat car inspired things.
- 1:05:17What really drew me to the site was their leather racing gloves
- 1:05:20or leather driving gloves.
- 1:05:21Uh, and then they've gotten overnight bags, general apparel and watch straps
- 1:05:25and, and various, you know, leather and canvas, you know, items and stuff.
- 1:05:29But the leather driving gloves are what really got me.
- 1:05:31They also have a relationship with Audi because they do a Audi RS inspired
- 1:05:36leather racing glove is really just got the RS logo on the racing glove.
- 1:05:40So that's kind of cool.
- 1:05:41So check them out at cafeleather.
- 1:05:43com.
- 1:05:44Again, you're the guru of garages, so we need to talk about tools and
- 1:05:47other fine garage gadgets and items.
- 1:05:50So if you've walked around your local Lowe's recently, you would have
- 1:05:54seen them debut already earlier this year, these mini cobalt tool chests.
- 1:05:59So imagine your big tool chest in the garage, but this is a two drawer,
- 1:06:0310 inch by six by six toolbox that On the surface, you're going to go,
- 1:06:07what am I going to put in there?
- 1:06:09And maybe it's not great for the garage, but I could see this going in an office.
- 1:06:13If you had the desk space to be supplying pencils, pens, whatever
- 1:06:17else, you know, little notepads comes in a variety of colors.
- 1:06:20I've seen the blue in the store.
- 1:06:22I've also seen, they've got like a pink edition, I guess, trying to
- 1:06:26cater to, you know, ladies or whoever likes the color pink coming across
- 1:06:30all the colors, red, silver, green, black, blue, pink, so on and so forth.
- 1:06:34So if you're interested in like a little mini mechanics toolbox tool chest in
- 1:06:40your home, check out your local Lowe's.
- 1:06:42They're only about 20 bucks.
- 1:06:43Did you notice that they released the second version?
- 1:06:46So now you can stack them.
- 1:06:47There's a topper.
- 1:06:48And the bottom.
- 1:06:49So you can have a double high one.
- 1:06:50Nice.
- 1:06:50Do they come on little caster wheels?
- 1:06:52So you can wheel them around your desk.
- 1:06:53You can buy those at Harbor Freight.
- 1:06:56I did see these in person as well.
- 1:06:57I, and I literally had the same thought that Tanya says, like,
- 1:07:00what am I going to do with this?
- 1:07:01But then I kept playing with it.
- 1:07:02I'm like, I got to find a reason to have this.
- 1:07:04There's got to be an excuse to have this toolbox.
- 1:07:07Cause it is pretty cool.
- 1:07:08Be cool.
- 1:07:08If you're a crafter of some sort and you've got like a craft area and maybe
- 1:07:12you stack a couple of them and that's where you're putting supplies for.
- 1:07:16Scissors and knives and things like that.
- 1:07:18How many brick separators can fit in that?
- 1:07:20That's a lot.
- 1:07:23To go with that, maybe to put inside of that mini cobalt tool chest there is
- 1:07:27these new style ratcheting screwdrivers.
- 1:07:30I'm sure all of us has tried different ratcheting screwdrivers at some point.
- 1:07:34They're good for about five minutes.
- 1:07:35And then you realize that they kind of suck, whether it's the handle turns or
- 1:07:39the top turns, or it's this and that.
- 1:07:41And take a standard ratchet and put some sort of screwdriver bit in.
- 1:07:44I mean, there's all sorts of weird combinations.
- 1:07:46The latest one I've seen is a tap and die style.
- 1:07:49ratcheting screwdriver which I thought was actually kind of interesting and
- 1:07:52I'm willing to try out especially if you can pick it up somewhere like a
- 1:07:56Harbor Freight or Lowe's or whatever.
- 1:07:57Again this stuff kind of comes across on Instagram from time to time so
- 1:08:01if you've ever played with the tap and die you know it's got a long t
- 1:08:04bar style handle and then you put the bit in through the center and it
- 1:08:07locks in and then you just rotate it.
- 1:08:09In this case, they've made the rotation pin, then ratchet the whole piece and then
- 1:08:14use that T bar for additional leverage.
- 1:08:16They call it a 24 in one magnetic screwdriver set
- 1:08:19clocking in around 40 bucks.
- 1:08:21DeWalt actually makes a gyroscopic screwdriver.
- 1:08:25And so with the turn of your hand, it's variable speed, that motion will
- 1:08:30initiate the screwing or unscrewing.
- 1:08:33And then the more severe your hand movement is, the faster it will rotate.
- 1:08:38So that does exist.
- 1:08:39You can actually go to your local Lowe's or local Lowe's website and order one.
- 1:08:44I have used one before.
- 1:08:45It was surprising.
- 1:08:48Because I've never used something like that before, but it does work.
- 1:08:50Will it torque out of your hand, or is it pretty good about
- 1:08:53when it slows down or stops?
- 1:08:54It might have an anti overtorque to it, I don't recall.
- 1:08:59Well, speaking of overtorquing and Brad's favorite torque specification, Gutentight.
- 1:09:03Brands like GearWrench, even Snap on and Craftsman, they're all stepping up.
- 1:09:08You've seen the number of teeth escalate in ratcheting wrenches over the years.
- 1:09:12I think we're now finally into triple digits.
- 1:09:15I was reading the other day, I forget which brand it is, it has 128 teeth.
- 1:09:19tooth wrench now.
- 1:09:20And I always joke that I live my life a quarter turn at a time.
- 1:09:23And basically that quarter turn movement can now rotate a bolt head almost
- 1:09:29360 degrees with very little input.
- 1:09:31So I'm a little bit of a skeptic.
- 1:09:33I'm a little bit apprehensive because I'm sure something like that is
- 1:09:36going to be expensive, but I am willing to try it because there are
- 1:09:39some jobs that It just takes way too long because you have no space.
- 1:09:44So anything that saves space and saves time, I'm willing to give
- 1:09:47it a go, which is why I have like 13 different size, 17 wrenches.
- 1:09:51All right, Brad, you got a couple of things for the garage.
- 1:09:53Just a couple that came out of like necessity from just recently
- 1:09:56working on my own vehicle.
- 1:09:58Realized that inside my garage, I did not have enough light.
- 1:10:01So I found the Nyko rechargeable cordless under hood work light.
- 1:10:06It's got soft hooks that wrap around the edge of the hood.
- 1:10:09So it hangs there while you're doing some work on your motor and everything.
- 1:10:12It's cordless.
- 1:10:13So you don't have to worry about tripping over the extension
- 1:10:15cord when you're running around looking for your 10 millimeter.
- 1:10:17Those things are a game changer.
- 1:10:19Once you buy one of those, you throw all the other lights away, basically.
- 1:10:23Except for those finger lights I showed you guys earlier.
- 1:10:25And since my next job is going to be under the hood specifically, one of these is
- 1:10:30definitely going to come in very nicely.
- 1:10:31And then next on the list for me is the Fluid Evacuator from Tool Discounter.
- 1:10:36The next couple of jobs I've got is the DSG service and the Haldex service.
- 1:10:40And being able to extract the fluid out of the transmission
- 1:10:43is definitely going to be key.
- 1:10:44So one of these be pretty nice sitting in my garage next to my new light.
- 1:10:48You can do your oil this way too.
- 1:10:50If you run it down through the dipstick, that way you don't have to get under the
- 1:10:52car and strip the oil pan bolt anymore.
- 1:10:55Well, there you go.
- 1:10:56No more, no more from auto valve.
- 1:10:58That's right.
- 1:10:58If you have a top Mount oil filter, you don't need to jack the car up.
- 1:11:01But in the case of the older cars, especially, you know, the old VWs
- 1:11:05with their aluminum oil pans that you pray to whatever you believe in,
- 1:11:09every time you take that bolt out that you don't strip the pan, putting it
- 1:11:12back in, this is a great way to not have to deal with that ever again.
- 1:11:16Getting out of tools, going into stuff you can slap on the walls.
- 1:11:19Some of the finest reproduction signs in the business I've seen
- 1:11:23come from Reedyville Goods.
- 1:11:24They aim to please with a huge selection, ranging from the food and beverage
- 1:11:28industry, to humor signs, to the automotive signs, to circus signs, to
- 1:11:32tobacco signs, to the gas and oil signs.
- 1:11:35Literally, the sky is the limit.
- 1:11:37If you want to create your own sign, ReadUVeil can make that for you.
- 1:11:40In fact, Garage Town Magazine's Garage Tour Award signs were
- 1:11:44made by ReadUVeil Goods.
- 1:11:46One of our favorite signs right now is the El Mirage sign.
- 1:11:51We have pictured On our website, it's very unique.
- 1:11:54We've never seen anything like this before.
- 1:11:56And again, El Mirage, if you don't know that, that's kind of the desert
- 1:11:59version, the dust bin of the salt flats.
- 1:12:02It's where guys go to run hot rods, run experimental vehicles,
- 1:12:06see how fast they'll go, El Mirage is really, really a cool place.
- 1:12:10Next up would be Busted Knuckle Garage, with a plethora of items to choose from.
- 1:12:14The BKG brand has become synonymous with humor and good times in the
- 1:12:19garage, with a touch of nostalgia.
- 1:12:21Their barstools are second to none.
- 1:12:23I think I promote these every year because I really do like their barstools.
- 1:12:27They are terrific.
- 1:12:28Each one features great designs.
- 1:12:30Our favorite is the Winged spark plug, but you can find your favorite one
- 1:12:34at Busted Knuckle Garage's website.
- 1:12:36Same with Reedyville Goods.
- 1:12:38Just look them up on the web and you'll find whatever it is you want.
- 1:12:42Hey Don, you know what?
- 1:12:43You always talk about what belongs in the garage and this and that,
- 1:12:46but how about garages in general?
- 1:12:48Our friends at New Jersey Motorsports Park are now introducing an off season
- 1:12:52winter storage program and I think this is actually really cool because
- 1:12:55they have these big garages that they use during the year in the paddock.
- 1:12:59And they can be entered from both sides and they're generally
- 1:13:01empty when the track is closed.
- 1:13:03So what they're doing is they're making them available from December
- 1:13:061st through March 1st, before the season kicks off, and you can park your
- 1:13:11car, your trailer, whatever you want.
- 1:13:12You can store motorcycles, all sorts of power sports equipment,
- 1:13:16and whatever you have inside of their garages there at the track.
- 1:13:21It's actually kind of cool because they're selling per bay for a thousand bucks.
- 1:13:25So to store your car, your trailer, your rig over the winter to get it
- 1:13:29out of the snow for a thousand bucks.
- 1:13:30I think that's a pretty good deal.
- 1:13:32Yeah.
- 1:13:32I like the idea.
- 1:13:33That's really good.
- 1:13:33But can you decorate it or is it just, you put your car in
- 1:13:36there and shut up and go away?
- 1:13:36Well, you only get it for three months.
- 1:13:39Can you put your car on jack stands and constantly take your
- 1:13:41tools over there to work on it?
- 1:13:43I think you could.
- 1:13:44They say that electric is included.
- 1:13:46I mean, why would they include electric other than for the winter?
- 1:13:48I guess for battery tenders, verified access, they're
- 1:13:51locked and they're secured.
- 1:13:52And they say it's ideal for vehicles, boat, trailers, power sports equipment.
- 1:13:56And the base size is 15 by 26 with a 10 by 20 doorway.
- 1:14:01Well, it looks like they got three different options on this.
- 1:14:04The way it looks like on the site, you got shade tree garages,
- 1:14:06VIP garages and event garages.
- 1:14:08It looks like the two options are your own garage, but.
- 1:14:11It doesn't look like it's amenities, so to speak, but then your event
- 1:14:14garage is where you're there.
- 1:14:15Then obviously they have those full blown garage condos that are all the rage now
- 1:14:19that are going up all over the country.
- 1:14:21Obviously depending on your budget, it can be basic or be full blown garage malls.
- 1:14:25Well, the holidays are also a time of giving.
- 1:14:29Like we've done in the past, we want to give some shout outs to some charities.
- 1:14:33Yes, you're right, Eric.
- 1:14:34There are a lot of charities and tis the season for giving back and supporting
- 1:14:39those who are looking for a little bit extra love this year and who isn't.
- 1:14:43One of our favorites comes from Deb Pollack.
- 1:14:45She established Drive for a Cure, which is raising lots and lots of
- 1:14:50money for Parkinson's research.
- 1:14:52A disease near and dear to her heart.
- 1:14:55If you go to her website, she explains all about it.
- 1:14:58So you can always make a nice donation there, help her and her paws, even get
- 1:15:02a little tax write off if you want to.
- 1:15:05Bill Warner's book, On the Other Side of the Fence, it's a wonderful pictorial
- 1:15:09of his history running around, literally the United States, taking pictures
- 1:15:13at different motorsports events.
- 1:15:15Interesting thing about Bill's book.
- 1:15:17He put this all together himself.
- 1:15:18He got it published himself.
- 1:15:20100 percent of the proceeds go for Spina Bifida research and support.
- 1:15:25Near and dear to Bill's heart.
- 1:15:29Hi, this is Bill Warner in Jacksonville, Florida.
- 1:15:32And I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
- 1:15:35And I'm also here to promote a book that I did on six decades of motorsports
- 1:15:41photography from my first race at Sebring, Florida, 1960 to the present.
- 1:15:45So if you like photo books, this is it.
- 1:15:47Each one's got a little story behind it.
- 1:15:49To be honest with you, it's my life from the time I was 16 years old to today.
- 1:15:54This includes a story from when I did a story with Andy Gibb.
- 1:15:57On a Gimbala Avalanche Porsche down at West Palm Beach, Punty Story.
- 1:16:01I have to thank my friends, Jokin Moss, David Hobbs, Brian Redman, Hurley
- 1:16:06Haywood, Roger Pinsky, Mario Andretti, Derek Bell, Peter Brock, for the lovely
- 1:16:11liner notes they did for the book.
- 1:16:13They were great to support it and they're in the book too, so.
- 1:16:16Each photo has a story behind it.
- 1:16:18It's more than just a photo book.
- 1:16:19So if you're interested in me, a nice Christmas present for anybody who's
- 1:16:22into auto racing and into photography, the book is available through Spina
- 1:16:26Bifida Jacksonville, or you can send an email to me at Bill Warner at bwracing.
- 1:16:32net.
- 1:16:33And I'll vector it over to them and we can get this book to you by Christmas.
- 1:16:36The price is a 100 donation to Spina Bifida Jacksonville, so
- 1:16:39it's completely tax deductible.
- 1:16:41All proceeds from the book go to Spina Bifida Jacksonville to take care of
- 1:16:45those people born with a terrible birth defect called Spina Bifida.
- 1:16:49Drop me a note.
- 1:16:49Have a Merry Christmas.
- 1:16:51And thank you so much.
- 1:16:54And William, you've got some that are near and dear to your heart.
- 1:16:57Yes, I do.
- 1:16:58I help out a couple entities in my area.
- 1:17:01One is aluminum cans for burned children.
- 1:17:03And what's beautiful about this, we work with over 100 local fire stations.
- 1:17:07And at those departments, we collect aluminum cans.
- 1:17:09And also with fundraising events, donations and whatnot, we help
- 1:17:12support pediatric burn survivors.
- 1:17:14We send them to a couple summer and winter camp.
- 1:17:16So twice a year, you can send them off to a camp and we do it ourselves.
- 1:17:19They may need started doing something else that we started doing raffles
- 1:17:22throughout the year and currently right now Don't buy some raffle tickets.
- 1:17:24We are raffling off two half cases of Buffalo trace whiskey So if
- 1:17:28you're a whiskey person, you can win yourself six bottles whiskey Acbcohio.
- 1:17:32org and you can go into the event section you'll find under there and William a
- 1:17:35little birdie told me you're working on a Slot car track with David Beattie from
- 1:17:40Slot Mods Raceways for charity as well.
- 1:17:46And for the listeners out there in 2025, William and I are going to work
- 1:17:49together in bringing a track for a donation to raise some funds for his
- 1:17:54charities, a charity of his choice.
- 1:17:56Cause I'm at a point where I really want to give back in any way I can.
- 1:18:00But my other thing that's near and dear to my heart also is
- 1:18:02I'm a big animal advocate.
- 1:18:04I volunteered a couple of animal shelters in my area.
- 1:18:07Go there, walk dogs, what have you, but I also foster dogs and cats.
- 1:18:10One thing to understand is a couple hours a week.
- 1:18:13You could go one day a week for two hours.
- 1:18:15You don't have to adopt an animal.
- 1:18:16You can foster, you can donate.
- 1:18:17There's so many ways you can help support your local animal shelter.
- 1:18:21Just look into it.
- 1:18:22Like I said, you're not looking for 40 hours a week.
- 1:18:24You can just go there for an hour or two a week.
- 1:18:26To help walk the dogs, play with the cats.
- 1:18:28There's so many different things you can do.
- 1:18:29They need people just to go in and interact with the animals.
- 1:18:32What workers you want to do is go for two hours to play with some dogs
- 1:18:35or puppies or some cats and kittens, and just give them some exercise
- 1:18:38and give them some entertainment.
- 1:18:39Wherever you're at in this part of the country, look into your local charities.
- 1:18:43There's many, many ways you can help out these entities, not just
- 1:18:46financial, but time, whatnot.
- 1:18:47There's a lot of things you can do to help.
- 1:18:48So just look into it.
- 1:18:49It's a very rewarding to help out.
- 1:18:52Right on.
- 1:18:53I have a nonprofit called freedom grow.
- 1:18:55org.
- 1:18:55We support cannabis prisoners, non violent.
- 1:18:58If you haven't heard of us, check us out, freedomgrow.
- 1:19:01org.
- 1:19:02We do it all through volunteer efforts on our own time.
- 1:19:05And we support these non violent cannabis prisoners and their families.
- 1:19:09We do holiday gifting.
- 1:19:11We do it all through donations.
- 1:19:12So please check us out, freedomgrow.
- 1:19:14org.
- 1:19:17All right, switching gears for your ride.
- 1:19:19I know Tanya loves these.
- 1:19:20I'm gonna get her a set.
- 1:19:21This is gonna be in her stocking.
- 1:19:23I bought a set for myself, and I have to blame John Summers, the motoring
- 1:19:27historian for this, for the Auxedo replacement LED headlight bulbs.
- 1:19:34I'm watching Furious, driving that YouTuber.
- 1:19:37Probably too annoying for you.
- 1:19:38He's in Kent.
- 1:19:39He has what you would describe as shit cars.
- 1:19:42Let's just cut straight to the chase.
- 1:19:44But I do like him.
- 1:19:45I think it's because I'm just attracted to these YouTubers who have
- 1:19:48large amounts of terrible vehicles.
- 1:19:51That they nobly try and keep going, or maybe idiotically try and keep going.
- 1:19:55But look, he has this, you know, MX 5, whatever.
- 1:19:58He has this relationship with this company called Quartzito, who do H E V life.
- 1:20:04And it put me in mind of remembering the days when it was
- 1:20:09cool to do business and travel.
- 1:20:11When I drive home, I, uh, left late at night.
- 1:20:14I was running not that fast, but fast enough, you know, a number that I don't
- 1:20:19really want to mention on the pod.
- 1:20:20And certainly it was fast enough that we came over a rise and
- 1:20:24over the rise, the road changed direction and I was in the decimals.
- 1:20:27I was off the road in the desert, literally a cactus up
- 1:20:31against the nose of the car.
- 1:20:33Anyway, long and short, having got going again, I realized that what had
- 1:20:36happened was I had been running too fast for the throw of the headlights.
- 1:20:42So in that moment, I was like, I want proper lights.
- 1:20:45Always wanted HID brighter lights.
- 1:20:49Surely be able to get the bulbs, right?
- 1:20:50I don't want spotlights to make the car look like a rally car at the front of it.
- 1:20:54I just wanted better bulbs to go in the same.
- 1:20:57This is what Orbzito do.
- 1:20:59And this is the interesting shtick.
- 1:21:01I, uh, mentioned it on a previous poll.
- 1:21:04And what I mentioned was the furious driving advantage.
- 1:21:08I had bought some on the back of that, on the back of me buying.
- 1:21:11They mailed me and said, did I want a discount code?
- 1:21:16I said, yes.
- 1:21:17My discount code is Motoring Historian.
- 1:21:21It gives you 15%.
- 1:21:23That's awesome.
- 1:21:24Awesome.
- 1:21:27And you can use promo code motoring historian to get 15 percent off your order
- 1:21:32of these drop in, no hassle, no fuss, no muss, no ballast, LED replacement bulbs.
- 1:21:38I think they're awesome.
- 1:21:39It sucks for everybody else on the road that has to see them as I'm
- 1:21:42coming toward them, but I am not blind.
- 1:21:45I do not travel by braille at night with a candle out the
- 1:21:48window like I'm Paul Revere.
- 1:21:50It's awesome to be able to see at night.
- 1:21:52And if you could see Tanya's face right now.
- 1:21:54I'm restraining myself.
- 1:21:58Don't hold back.
- 1:21:58Not to go down a rabbit hole of what we discussed last drive thru.
- 1:22:02You are why.
- 1:22:03You are the problem.
- 1:22:04Why people are getting their windshields tinted.
- 1:22:06It's because of these HID lights.
- 1:22:09Think about taking an old crappy headlight and making it awesome.
- 1:22:12That's the whole point.
- 1:22:13No, they were fine.
- 1:22:15They were bright enough.
- 1:22:16It's good enough for a race car on a racetrack.
- 1:22:18It's good enough for me on the street.
- 1:22:19Fine is the enemy of great.
- 1:22:21These are great.
- 1:22:24Can you put these as just the high beam so I can blind everybody else
- 1:22:28who has these as a regular light?
- 1:22:30Then I'm into this.
- 1:22:33So if I can't convince you to buy some oxido headlight bulbs, then I
- 1:22:37guess we should talk about car care.
- 1:22:40We should really clean our headlights.
- 1:22:42Maybe we should use buffing products or something like that.
- 1:22:46I just did.
- 1:22:47The headlights on the Honda with a Griot product, fan bloody tastic.
- 1:22:52I cannot believe how easy it was to restore the headlights on the Honda.
- 1:22:56It really had some fogged out headlights.
- 1:22:58Griot's garage ceramic headlight restoration kit.
- 1:23:03A real life kit.
- 1:23:04It comes in a box complete with the, uh, nitrile gloves, the oxidation remover.
- 1:23:09And the ceramic headlight coating, as well as handheld little circular sanders
- 1:23:15that you just stick it on like Velcro and you go to town following their
- 1:23:20instructions, literally to the letter.
- 1:23:22I was amazed at how easily it ate up all the fog, made them clear.
- 1:23:28They literally look very, very, very close to new headlights.
- 1:23:31So if you or your loved one are in cleaning headlights, or there
- 1:23:35are some headlights in the family that need to be done, Rio's Garage
- 1:23:38Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit.
- 1:23:43Is car wax the perfect holiday gift?
- 1:23:46I've been asked that many, many times.
- 1:23:48Many years.
- 1:23:49Somebody wants to give something to someone who loves cars and
- 1:23:53you don't know what to give them.
- 1:23:54Most holiday gifts say you bought something sophisticated or cool.
- 1:23:58But do they say, Hey, I know what you love and I love that about you.
- 1:24:03Where cars are concerned, there's a passion involved.
- 1:24:06There's fun, there's thrills, but we need to remember that
- 1:24:09loving a car is a big job.
- 1:24:11You're right.
- 1:24:12Giving somebody a 16 can for the holiday can be hard to understand.
- 1:24:17Sometimes it's not the car that you need.
- 1:24:20It's the car that needs you.
- 1:24:22So let's talk about a real gift.
- 1:24:24Zymal was created because of a love for cars and the exciting people
- 1:24:28who share a passion for them.
- 1:24:30We strive to make the best products based upon what kind of fresh ingredients
- 1:24:36we can find available in nature.
- 1:24:38This brings the highest quality and absolute best products that any
- 1:24:43collector or enthusiast could want.
- 1:24:45We want people to understand that we're part of that love for the automobile.
- 1:24:50And it doesn't matter whether it's a grass buggy or a brand new Ferrari.
- 1:24:55It's the love of the automobile and the reason why we're here.
- 1:24:59When you think about the holidays, think about that person
- 1:25:02that really loves that car.
- 1:25:04What would bring a smile to their face?
- 1:25:07It could be something as simple as a card, or it could be some Zymol.
- 1:25:10We want to wish a happy holiday to everyone from Zymol.
- 1:25:17Number one on the list is Root66, a new wax product by Zymol.
- 1:25:22Lending their love of natural ingredients and the open road, the
- 1:25:25Zymol wax company recently released their all new Root66 product line.
- 1:25:30The complete kit is packaged in a special box and contains the wash,
- 1:25:35spray wax, and the microfiber.
- 1:25:37Take care.
- 1:25:37Very, very cool for the holiday season.
- 1:25:39This kit can be personalized with a picture of your favorite car on the box.
- 1:25:44So if you have a loved one who had a really nice car or a great
- 1:25:47picture, they love of the car.
- 1:25:48You can send it to Zymal and have it emblazoned on the Route 66 box.
- 1:25:52So that's kind of fun.
- 1:25:53Well, better still, you use that link that Brad had to get it all
- 1:25:57cartoonified and then put it 66 box.
- 1:26:00That'd be fun.
- 1:26:01Absolutely.
- 1:26:02Find that at Zymal.
- 1:26:03com.
- 1:26:04Well, Don, since we're still on the topic of DIY and detailing and things
- 1:26:08like that, and I know that's a topic that's near and dear to your past
- 1:26:12as a professional detailer yourself.
- 1:26:13You and I sat down with Dan Williams from Owner's Pride, and he reached
- 1:26:17back out to us and he was excited.

- 1:26:51com.
- 1:26:52And don't forget to tune into the break fix episode that we
- 1:26:54did with Dan earlier this year.
- 1:26:56So you can learn all the details about how it works in his own words.
- 1:27:00I've got a list of things that I've just been eyeing over the last couple
- 1:27:03of months for my various vehicles.
- 1:27:05To start, anybody that has a full size pickup truck, if you're not exactly
- 1:27:09my size, it can get difficult to reach things in the back of the truck sometimes.
- 1:27:14Rough Country makes a pickup bed cargo storage box that straps into
- 1:27:19the end where the tailgate is, and you can basically slide it in and out.
- 1:27:23It creates a nice little bucket, essentially, for you to put your
- 1:27:26stuff in so it's not rolling around, doesn't roll all the way up to
- 1:27:29the cab and you can't reach it.
- 1:27:30It's reasonably priced, only 180.
- 1:27:32So if you've got a full size truck and you have trouble reaching things, or
- 1:27:35even if you put your groceries in the bed of the truck, this is a nice to have.
- 1:27:39That's pretty cool.
- 1:27:40Adding on to the truck bed cargo box from Rough Country.
- 1:27:43If you've got a little bit deeper pockets, you can get the
- 1:27:45decked truck bed drawer system.
- 1:27:48I've been eyeing this for years.
- 1:27:50It's hard, thick plastic with big drawers that slide all the
- 1:27:53way back to the cab of the truck.
- 1:27:55You can put anything in there pretty secure when you lock the tailgate.
- 1:27:58They don't take up too much space.
- 1:28:00Yeah, you lose some bed height.
- 1:28:02Fairly expensive, like 1, 500 to 2, 000, depending on your
- 1:28:05truck and stuff like that.
- 1:28:06But they sell boxes and stuff that fit into the sliding drawers and everything.
- 1:28:09And I think it's really cool.
- 1:28:10I've been eyeing these for a couple of years.
- 1:28:12I just haven't been able to drop the money on them.
- 1:28:14My truck came with both seats and they're getting a little weathered now
- 1:28:18having had the vehicle for seven years.
- 1:28:20Been eyeing, you know, catskin leather interiors, but a
- 1:28:24much more affordable option.
- 1:28:26I found Seat Cover Solutions.
- 1:28:28They make luxury looking seat covers that are custom fit to the vehicle.
- 1:28:33And they're fairly, uh, reasonably catskins, which can
- 1:28:36be well over a thousand dollars.
- 1:28:38These are in the few hundred.
- 1:28:39So check them out, SeatCoverSolutions.
- 1:28:42com.
- 1:28:42Next on my list.
- 1:28:43Having just worked on my car and had it on jack stands for a couple months,
- 1:28:47obviously the battery died, could not get it started, it would not jump,
- 1:28:51trickle charger didn't work, I ended up picking up a Noco Boost Plus GB40, put
- 1:28:56it on the car, hit the exclamation point button, it started the car in seconds.
- 1:29:01From a dead battery.
- 1:29:02100 on Amazon.
- 1:29:04Best 100 I've ever spent.
- 1:29:05Leave it in the vehicle with you.
- 1:29:07It's amazing.
- 1:29:07Amen.
- 1:29:08I've got one of these too and it has been a lifesaver.
- 1:29:12It is awesome.
- 1:29:13You can charge it with a cell phone cable.
- 1:29:15I mean, it's incredible what you can do with this very small lithium power pack.
- 1:29:19Yeah.
- 1:29:19And you can jumpstart, not one car, but multiple cars off of a single charge.
- 1:29:23And it's really, really good.
- 1:29:25It's worth the money.
- 1:29:26I haven't found anything quite like it.
- 1:29:28Yeah.
- 1:29:28The noco products are really, really good stuff.
- 1:29:30This particular one, the GB 40 will charge gasoline vehicles up to six liters
- 1:29:35and diesel engines up to three liters.
- 1:29:37So it's a very wide range of vehicles that this little box can handle.
- 1:29:41And it's compact, it'll fit, you can charge it right in your other vehicle
- 1:29:44if you have it with you for emergencies.
- 1:29:46Next on my list, anybody that's been on a road trip with Eric, no road trip
- 1:29:50supplies are complete without your Target or Big Lots plastic bag as your trash bag.
- 1:29:56I thought you were going to say 11 hours.
- 1:29:58With no music or NPR.
- 1:29:59No, that's what the Sirius XM, uh, subscriptions for now, but we're
- 1:30:04going to replace those plastic trash bags hanging off your glove box with
- 1:30:09the Duluth trading trash commander or compact portable car trash bag.
- 1:30:14It's cloth throw your little trash in there.
- 1:30:16You take it and you dump it somewhere else.
- 1:30:18When you're done, it.
- 1:30:18Takes up about as much space as the plastic bag, but
- 1:30:21then it's always with you.
- 1:30:22So, you know, what's good about this, Brad, this is really helpful
- 1:30:25because where I live, it's really hard to get plastic grocery.
- 1:30:27You got to pay for them.
- 1:30:28They're 5 cents if you can find them, but you know, what's even more difficult is
- 1:30:32hanging a paper bag from your glove box.
- 1:30:34So this is ideal.
- 1:30:36So there you go.
- 1:30:36Yeah.
- 1:30:37Duluth trading.
- 1:30:38This next one's just for fun.
- 1:30:39You know, everybody's got a car.
- 1:30:40Winter's coming up.
- 1:30:41You're going to be a jabroni if you buy this.
- 1:30:43We don't want our cars to get cold.
- 1:30:45We don't want our gear shift levers to get cold.
- 1:30:47So one more funny has a hoodie car gear shift cover.
- 1:30:51Jabroni.
- 1:30:51I don't need to say anything else.
- 1:30:53It's basically all I'm going to say is, uh, it's a hoodie for your gear selector.
- 1:30:58They come in multiple colors.
- 1:30:59They're 17.
- 1:31:00They are kind of cute though.
- 1:31:03You're coming around still jabroni.
- 1:31:05And one last thing for your ride is a reminder that as we'd like to say on the
- 1:31:11show, everyone and every car has a story.
- 1:31:14So don't forget about a great stocking stuffer for the petrol head in your life.
- 1:31:17How about picking up an auto bio tag?
- 1:31:20That way you can tell the story of your vehicle when you're
- 1:31:23at the next cars and coffee.
- 1:31:24But let's hear from Paul and Katie Ruprai about how it works and the
- 1:31:28promotions that they got going on during the holiday season.
- 1:31:33Autobio tags are 49 and that's a one time fee.
- 1:31:37It's yours for life.
- 1:31:38You can edit it as many times as you want.
- 1:31:40There's not a subscription.
- 1:31:42That is actually the most gratifying thing to share with people is that you
- 1:31:45are getting your own personal webpage.
- 1:31:48that you get to customize and you get to tell the story for 49.
- 1:31:52We do offer group discounts.
- 1:31:54So if you have a club or a large collection or something
- 1:31:58and you want to call us, we're happy to work with you on that.
- 1:32:01And around the holidays, we do offer a buy two, get one free special,
- 1:32:05which is very, very popular.
- 1:32:07It'll be coming up around Black Friday and running through the holidays.
- 1:32:10So if we show up at a show, it's always a buy two get one.
- 1:32:12It's a show special as well.
- 1:32:13They make really good gifts for the car lover and you, you know, you know, you're
- 1:32:17going to give it to somebody who is not going to be afraid of the technology.
- 1:32:20Really nothing to be afraid of.
- 1:32:21They do make good gifts.
- 1:32:24Well, guys.
- 1:32:25Wouldn't be a drive through if we didn't have some rich people.
- 1:32:29Things.
- 1:32:30You gotta put yourself in a new Ferrari.
- 1:32:32You got some bunch for sale, or a nice Porsche, gimme a call.
- 1:32:35You wanna get the ultimate Christmas gift for yourself?
- 1:32:37Get yourself a nice car.
- 1:32:38I'll have my wife reach out William . But if you can't put a Ferrari in your
- 1:32:43garage, how about some miniature Porsches?
- 1:32:45Right now I'm deciding to release these new, um, half
- 1:32:48scaled Porsche nine seventeens.
- 1:32:50They're art cars, which would be a fiberglass shell, which would be
- 1:32:54airbrushed, hand painted with rubber wheels and everything, and it would
- 1:32:57be similar to the 917 that we did.
- 1:32:59You flip a latch, the track opens up, and then you, there's a
- 1:33:02miniature Le Mans raceway in there.
- 1:33:03In 143rd scale, instead of on 132nd, you could actually have, in your office,
- 1:33:09thing would be about, maybe 7 feet long, 3 feet wide, 917, that opens up
- 1:33:14and it's got a miniature raceway in it.
- 1:33:16And you can race slot cars.
- 1:33:17And when you're not racing it, you just click a button and it closes.
- 1:33:20Looking to bring to market in 2025, there'll be limited editions.
- 1:33:23There'll be the Steve McQueen, uh, number 20, the winning Salzburg
- 1:33:27Porsche, the red with the white livery.
- 1:33:29If you're interested in these hideaway slot car tracks, be
- 1:33:33sure to check out slotmods.
- 1:33:35com for more information.
- 1:33:37Oh, look at this.
- 1:33:38We have more rich people.
- 1:33:39Thanks.
- 1:33:40Make sure you put down this winter.
- 1:33:42If you're one to ask Santa for presents, maybe you want to ask him.
- 1:33:46Ask for this if you're expecting a little bundle of joy in the future.
- 1:33:49How would you like a Lamborghini for your baby?
- 1:33:53Wait, wait, wait.
- 1:33:53Are we talking like Bugatti Baby 2?
- 1:33:56Because that's been done before.
- 1:33:57No, we're talking about a limited edition baby stroller.
- 1:34:01No!
- 1:34:03Yes.
- 1:34:03A Lamborghini baby stroller could be yours.
- 1:34:07Is it named after a bull like all the other Lamborghinis are?
- 1:34:10There's only going to be 500 made.
- 1:34:12The price isn't revealed yet on it.
- 1:34:15But the basis of this stroller costs a thousand dollars.
- 1:34:18So expect it to cost more than a thousand dollars.
- 1:34:21Is that all?
- 1:34:22It's actually not terribly outlandish for a baby stroller.
- 1:34:25Do you know how loud Lamborghinis are?
- 1:34:27This would frighten the child.
- 1:34:29We'll go down there.
- 1:34:29You know, you know, that V10 sound that they make.
- 1:34:36That trooper that pulled you over would give this person a ticket.
- 1:34:39100%.
- 1:34:40I do like the orange stitching though, that is super nice.
- 1:34:44I'm gonna do that to my baby stroller that I probably won't be
- 1:34:46using once Adam starts walking.
- 1:34:48Boom, done.
- 1:34:48Bring out some Lambo stickers, put them on.
- 1:34:51Yep.
- 1:34:51So much cheaper.
- 1:34:52Feel like I have a Lamborghini.
- 1:34:54We have to do a holiday update.
- 1:34:57There is news on the front of the Bugatti Baby 2.
- 1:35:03No!
- 1:35:04No.
- 1:35:05As if the original Bugatti Baby 2 wasn't enough, there's two new things
- 1:35:10for you to check out on their website.
- 1:35:12First is new liveries being released.
- 1:35:15Nation colors.
- 1:35:16There's a blue and white livery.
- 1:35:17There's also USA, Monaco, Germany, France, Netherlands, and Belgium grouping.
- 1:35:22So check out all those different colors.
- 1:35:24But the most exciting addition is The Carbon Edition Bugatti Baby II.
- 1:35:31Inspired by the W16 Mistral Roadster, been developed in partnership with the
- 1:35:36Headley Studios, and each of these are hand built to customer specifications.
- 1:35:40The exterior and interior detailing mimics that of the W16 Mistral.
- 1:35:45The ideal addition to your collection.
- 1:35:47For the low, low price of Enquire.
- 1:35:50Too much.
- 1:35:51If it says Enquire, we know the rule, right?
- 1:35:55You don't want to know how much it costs.
- 1:35:58Carbon fiber, it's got a way less than the original Bugatti BB2.
- 1:36:01So now that takes your speed key, you got to be able to squeeze a couple
- 1:36:06more mile an hour out of this thing.
- 1:36:07You know, it doesn't talk about that.
- 1:36:09So we know the top speed of the Pursang and the Vitesse are 45 miles an hour.
- 1:36:15It's got to do 50.
- 1:36:16Power to weight ratio.
- 1:36:17Maybe one or two mile an hour more.
- 1:36:19I guarantee if you put me in that thing, it won't do 45 miles an hour.
- 1:36:25There's no way.
- 1:36:26We'd love to focus on the Bugatti Baby 2, but this company, Headley
- 1:36:30Studios, they make a Bentley.
- 1:36:32We make the Bugatti.
- 1:36:33They have a Ferrari Testarossa J.
- 1:36:36They've got the Aston Martin DB5.
- 1:36:38That's like the Harrington Go Karts then, right?
- 1:36:41They do the same thing.
- 1:36:42We talked about those the last time.
- 1:36:43Well, I believe we did this on a past episode where we each chose from the
- 1:36:48other models which one we would get.
- 1:36:51If it wasn't the Bugatti and the prices were all the same and quiet
- 1:36:55more than you can afford, pal.
- 1:36:57Exactly.
- 1:36:58Baby Bugatti.
- 1:36:59Well, it's time we go down South for some eggnog and reindeer.
- 1:37:19All right.
- 1:37:20So Florida, man.
- 1:37:21Wait, wait, wait.
- 1:37:21Before we get into that, how do you plan to defrost your Turkey this year?
- 1:37:25I mean, you could just put it in a Tesla and wreck the Tesla.
- 1:37:29You buy some of those led lights and put those in and just.
- 1:37:33Park your turkey in front of those lights.
- 1:37:34That probably does.
- 1:37:35I like that.
- 1:37:36We've learned in the past the recommended ways to throw it in your pool, but you
- 1:37:39know, I'm gonna leave that where it is.
- 1:37:41You could also put it in your Malibu with some candles.
- 1:37:44Speaking of that, I saw something on Facebook that was an interior shot.
- 1:37:51Imagine that sitting in driver's seat looking through the windshield
- 1:37:54and there were three lit candles on the dashboard and it was defrosting.
- 1:37:58It was defrosting the windshield actively.
- 1:38:02That's outstanding.
- 1:38:03Boom.
- 1:38:04Now we understand.
- 1:38:06Going back to drive through number one, it has taken us 50 episodes to
- 1:38:10figure out why somebody put candles.
- 1:38:14In their car.
- 1:38:14You've solved the mystery.
- 1:38:15It's over.
- 1:38:16We're done.
- 1:38:16Except I think that person was in Florida.
- 1:38:19So what they were defrosting, I don't know.
- 1:38:22But back to present day.
- 1:38:24So we've got a good one here.
- 1:38:26Oh boy.
- 1:38:26And there's a video.
- 1:38:27Florida man smashes porch pirate's getaway car with rental cyber truck.
- 1:38:33Wait, what?
- 1:38:33It's a lot.
- 1:38:34So what happened is random dude, apparently through this company, puts
- 1:38:39his cyber truck out for somebody to rent.
- 1:38:43So his Cybertruck is out in the world.
- 1:38:45Random dude 2, he's driving around in rental Cybertruck.
- 1:38:48He's on his way home, he strolls up his neighborhood street.
- 1:38:51What does he see?
- 1:38:52He sees some guy hurriedly running down his front property.
- 1:38:55Jumping into a Genesis G80.
- 1:38:58Because he's stealing the Christmas presents off of his porch.
- 1:39:01The porch pirate, and this guy finds him.
- 1:39:03So what does he think to do?
- 1:39:05Floor it.
- 1:39:06What does he want to do?
- 1:39:07Catch this guy.
- 1:39:08So watch the video.
- 1:39:09Watch what happens.
- 1:39:11Wait for it.
- 1:39:12Wait for it.
- 1:39:13Wow.
- 1:39:14I don't think he intended necessarily hit him, but he intended to block
- 1:39:19him because you could only make a left turn at the end of this street.
- 1:39:23Wow.
- 1:39:23He couldn't stop in time.
- 1:39:25So not only did he do a good maneuver here, that he got the guy into a tree,
- 1:39:29But then, unfortunately, he also wrecked the Cybertruck, and in the beginning
- 1:39:32photo, the whole article, that's extensive damage on the Cybertruck.
- 1:39:36Didn't look like that much of a hit.
- 1:39:38I thought he was gonna pit maneuver him.
- 1:39:39Angle he was going in.
- 1:39:41Now, I will say, he went into warp drive.
- 1:39:43It was like Picard.
- 1:39:45Engage maximum warp, right?
- 1:39:47I mean he just flew up on him.
- 1:39:49I was like damn that thing can scoot watch the other video I did
- 1:39:52not expect him to hit the tree the video from the ring camera You see
- 1:39:55the guy running a second later.
- 1:39:57You just see the truck just shoot past whoa Dude, that guy
- 1:40:00was going back to the future.
- 1:40:02There should have been fire underneath those tires.
- 1:40:04Luckily, there wasn't after he crashed into the back of the Genesis.
- 1:40:08Great Scott, Marty.
- 1:40:09Wow.
- 1:40:10That's going to be covered on Arturo's rental agreement.
- 1:40:12Supposedly, they are covering it through the insurance.
- 1:40:15That's what the article is saying at that time.
- 1:40:18See, he was a vigilante, self deputized.
- 1:40:21It's Florida laws, right?
- 1:40:22What's it called?
- 1:40:23Stand your ground.
- 1:40:25Is it stand your ground?
- 1:40:26This is not stand your ground.
- 1:40:29Robbing his Christmas presents off the porch.
- 1:40:31That's a good one though.
- 1:40:32I like that.
- 1:40:33Elon responded to it.
- 1:40:34Elon's got to have said something about it.
- 1:40:35I'm sure he's seen that.
- 1:40:36I'm sure he's got a good quip about it.
- 1:40:38The department of government efficiency needs to weigh in.
- 1:40:41The doge, the doge department needs to weigh in.
- 1:40:44Well, folks, it's time to quickly go behind the pit wall
- 1:40:48and talk about motorsports news.
- 1:40:50In this case, we're not going to talk about news.
- 1:40:51motorsports gifts.
- 1:40:53Don't forget that you can become an ally of Women in Motorsports
- 1:40:56North America, WMNA, and also you're still in time to sign up for
- 1:41:01their annual Women in Drive Summit.
- 1:41:03This year it's being held right before PRI, the week of
- 1:41:06December 9th in Indianapolis.
- 1:41:10I would appreciate that you promote Women in Motorsports North America
- 1:41:13because that's ongoing and obviously a lot of your listeners are probably
- 1:41:16women or young girls or females.
- 1:41:19You know, I do have a book out that's been out for a while, so it's not new.
- 1:41:22If people just go to my website, they're in my garage and I ship them out.
- 1:41:26And if you tell me you want me to autograph it, I'll autograph it.
- 1:41:29Love going to the races.
- 1:41:30Just go to the races, man.
- 1:41:31Just go to the races.
- 1:41:32Have fun.
- 1:41:35Dave Peters and the crew from hbdejunkie.

- 1:42:00Did you know that you can buy track days or gift cards to track events
- 1:42:04for the petrolhead in your life?
- 1:42:05Organizations like Hooked on Driving, Chen Track Days, David Murray Track
- 1:42:09Days, and many others offer you the ability to buy track time for others.
- 1:42:16Every year, uh, Auto Interest sells promotional value
- 1:42:19gift cards for Black Friday.

- 1:42:26Black Friday, you can buy a gift card and pay less than face value for it.
- 1:42:30So that's our annual promotion to check out for the holidays.
- 1:42:34And that's auto interests with the nasa.
- 1:42:36com.
- 1:42:36Well, the other thing from NASA is I would say that at hyperfest, if you want
- 1:42:40to come out, if you're not exactly sure whether you want to get on track, it's
- 1:42:43something that you just want to try.
- 1:42:44We have something called hyper drives, which is basically a single session HPD
- 1:42:49E cause we start with HPD one right from the very beginning and have a ladder
- 1:42:53up through time trials and racing.
- 1:42:55And if you're just not sure if you want to get out, if you want to try a sort of low
