- 0:00Speaker 1: Big game tomorrow for Georgia Tech against Notre Dame, and
- 0:05it appears as though the Yellowjacket's going to be without
- 0:09the former Longview Lobo Haines King, their quarterback who had
- 0:13been at Texas A and M. Of course, had a
- 0:15broken leg and then has been really really good for
- 0:19Georgia Tech. He's been dealing with what's called an upper
- 0:24body injury, considered day to day by Tech coach Brent
- 0:28Key heading into this matchup with Notre Dame, who is
- 0:32five and one, the one lost to Northern Illinois. But
- 0:36Haines King apparently is not going to be able to play.
- 0:41A backup Zach Pyron will be the starter. Of course.
- 0:45Pyron has played in sixteen career games, started twice as
- 0:48a true freshman a couple of years ago, played situationally
- 0:52in all seven games for Georgia Tech this season, five
- 0:55and two, accounting for five combined touchdowns. So he, by
- 1:01the way, is a guy that had snaps for Georgia Tech,
- 1:05including a rushing touchdown when they beat Florida State in
- 1:09that opener in Dublin, So he played in there. So
- 1:12he's going to play him place a King right now.
- 1:16And King has had a really good collegiate career, especially
- 1:20most of it at Tech. He's thrown for nearly six
- 1:22thousand yards, eight passing touchdowns just one interception this year.
- 1:26With the eight touchdowns, he's also rushed for three hundred
- 1:29and fifty three yards and six scores. So it's a
- 1:34big game. Notre Dame is going to be without its
- 1:36best defensive player, the corner Benjamin Morrison is out for
- 1:40the rest of the year with a hip injury as well.
- 1:42And it's not that Notre Dame is a G five
- 1:48We know they're not obviously that they operate independently as
- 1:51foot in football, although they play. They have that scheduling
- 1:56alliance thing with the ACC that's why they play in
- 1:58Georgia Tech. So they are doing that. But it's important
- 2:05to watch their matchups and their games because of the
- 2:10G five effect. With Army and Navy still to play
- 2:15Notre Dame this season, those are going to be very
- 2:19very important games down the stretch for G five. It's
- 2:23kind to the point now, Cameron, because we've we've talked
- 2:26so much about G five schools and it's come up
- 2:32more than any other year because of the G five
- 2:36place in the in the playoff hierarchy that I now
- 2:42start paying attention to important G five games every week,
- 2:49whether Army or Navy or Boise State UNLV has the
- 2:53one loss. North Texas is playing at Memphis tomorrow night.
- 2:58That's a big one as well. You know, from being
- 3:00the booth spotting for us for the UTSA and the
- 3:03ULM games, that we have like four games going on
- 3:08simultaneously in the booth while we're calling the Texas game.
- 3:12So there's a good century overload that's going on at
- 3:15that time. Because we've got one overhead monitor that we
- 3:18keep squarely on the Texas game, so we can obviously
- 3:22view for replay. There's a monitor out front that's kind
- 3:26of split between the TV booth and our booth, and
- 3:29the TV booth people don't really care because they've got
- 3:31their own individual monitors of the game. So we put
- 3:36it on a game of interest. Then we have a
- 3:39third monitor sitting like to the left side, and we'll
- 3:44have that on a game of interest, be at SEC
- 3:47or Top ten or whatever. Then I've got my iPad
- 3:51to the left where I'll have another game. I usually
- 3:53put a G five game on there, and to be honest,
- 3:56sometimes if North Texas is on there. I want to
- 3:58watch the Alma monitor. Well, it kill two Birds with
- 4:00one Stone because it kicks off at the same time
- 4:02as the Texas game, and it's an important G five game.
- 4:04North Texas a membus. And then Roger Wallace has his iPad.
- 4:08He's got that quad box thing going on, I think
- 4:11because what he does the YouTube TV thing once there
- 4:15was the impasse between DirecTV and UH and Disney, and
- 4:20so he went he went cord cutting and then he
- 4:25went to YouTube TV where he gets a quad box
- 4:27on his So really and truly we're looking at one, two, three, four, five, six.
- 4:35We've got eight other games going on, seven seven other
- 4:39games plus the game that we are going on in
- 4:42the booth at Some people say, how do you concentrate
- 4:45on the game you're calling, Because you call the game
- 4:47you're calling, they're just on in the background. There's just
- 4:50background stuff. It's like if you're at a party and
- 4:52somebody's got games on any other thing, you see what's
- 4:55going on there. But if you're talking to a party guest,
- 4:57you're talking to a party guest. You know, every Texas
- 5:01game is like a party, you know, just being out
- 5:03there and watching the game straight a hit. I don't
- 5:06think I'll have any challenge at all maintaining my concentration
- 5:11on Texas versus Georgia. It's just it's just good to
- 5:14have those other games going on, right because it folds
- 5:17into the dialogue of what we're talking about, Like, what
- 5:21was it the Tennessee Oklahoma game? Yeah, that was on,
- 5:27that was pertinents, what was happening, Yes, Texas, Yeah, exactly,
- 5:30So there'll be some of that. We'll we'll we'll have
- 5:34that on even as Texas Georgia is kind of the
- 5:38center of the college football universe. If you will, Tomorrow
- 5:44Tennessee Alabama gigantic game, but it's earlier in the day.
- 5:49Speaker 2: There's on ABC ahead of Texas Georgia. So those of
- 5:54you who will be watching not in attendance because you
- 5:56didn't want to spend a thousand dollars on a ticket,
- 5:59there there's a chance that that game is elongated or
- 6:04goes to overtime, it may overlap with the kickoff of
- 6:07Texas Georgia.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Well, let me put it to you this way, Cameron.
- 6:11If the if the Tennessee Alabama game overlaps the start
- 6:16the kickoff of Texas Georgia. That is a freakishly long
- 6:20game because it's two. It was three to three. It's
- 6:22only two thirty. It's a two. Okay, that's four hours.
- 6:26Should be fine, right, Yeah, And let me also say this,
- 6:30I know for a fact the Texas Georgia game is
- 6:32not going to kick right at six thirty. It's going
- 6:34to be more like six forty five when it kicks,
- 6:37So I think they'll have time to exit one game, ABC,
- 6:44have some scoreboard in between, some scenes setting for their
- 6:47prime time number one matchup, and and then have the
- 6:50kickoff of it. So I think it's probably gonna be
- 6:52about six forty five when that happens. We'll see. Hey.
- 6:56One other thing that I wanted to do here, and
- 6:59we've been doing this all along, is give you an
- 7:03opportunity to win tickets to see Tom Segura coming up now.
- 7:07It's going to be February twenty second. February twenty second
- 7:13is when Tom Segura will be at Moody Center, and
- 7:20we've been giving away opportunities for you to win tickets
- 7:23throughout the course of the week. You do it through
- 7:25our talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app. So here's how
- 7:28you do it. If you don't already have the iHeartRadio app,
- 7:31download it on your phone. Very easy to do. You
- 7:35just download that, it's free easy. Then you search AM
- 7:39thirteen hundred the zone, so you do that, and then
- 7:43there's two buttons, one with a white microphone and one
- 7:46with a red button with a white microphone. Then there's
- 7:49there's just a white button to listen to the air,
- 7:51but you want to tap the red button, the one
- 7:54with the microphone, and then you leave us a message
- 7:58with the keyword that you heard on the radio. So
- 8:02you do that. The keyword today is comedy. That's it. Comedy,
- 8:09that's the keyword. So if you want to see Tom
- 8:11Segura on February twenty second, just leave us a message
