- 1:39All right, everyone.

- 1:41And again, this is Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:43In case you're wondering where you've tuned, we're
- 1:46on Series 5, Show 10, Episode 6.
- 1:48The master topic for the week is own
- 1:50your choices, clarity, courage and calmness.
- 1:55Today's episode theme is a real important one,
- 1:59and that is discipline, integrity and alignment.
- 2:02If you don't align with things, then why
- 2:03do you even do them?
- 2:04Oh, who am I?
- 2:07I'm a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video
- 2:10producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student
- 2:13and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:16And also pretty soon I will be a
- 2:18published author.
- 2:19I'll be able to just say I'm a
- 2:20published author very soon.
- 2:21So today's episode is harnessing around discipline, integrity
- 2:27and alignment to create unstoppable personal power, reduce
- 2:30stress and ensure every action counts.
- 2:33Guys, that's the most important thing.
- 2:35We have to make sure that every action
- 2:37actually counts.
- 2:38And that might be something you're saying, oh,
- 2:41John, I don't quite get it.
- 2:42But I'm here to tell you that you
- 2:44can get it.
- 2:46You just have to realize one thing.
- 2:48And that one thing is your core values.
- 2:52So again, this is Series 5, Show 10,
- 2:56Episode 6.
- 2:59So discipline ensures follow through, guys.
- 3:02Discipline is the bridge between intention and results.
- 3:07Without it, ideas just remain, well, dreams.
- 3:11Every repeat structured action moves you closer to
- 3:14your goals.
- 3:15I'm not sure if you know that.
- 3:16It's not something you just do one time.
- 3:19All right.
- 3:20So integrity, guys, builds trust.
- 3:24Your reputation isn't built in a day.
- 3:27Nope.
- 3:27When actions match words consistently, people notice.
- 3:32Trust compounds like interest.
- 3:33It grows with every aligned choice.
- 3:37And again, sometimes you're thinking it's snowballing, but
- 3:41it's not snowballing.
- 3:42It's just basically taking all the inertia and
- 3:45the effort.
- 3:46And then it becomes something very amazing and,
- 3:49of course, very, very, very powerful.
- 3:53And when I say powerful, I mean things
- 3:54that are going to be like stuff that
- 3:57will change your life.
- 3:59I think that's a very important thing for
- 4:02all of us here to definitely understand is
- 4:05that it's about changing your life.
- 4:09And sometimes that can be hard for some
- 4:11people to understand.
- 4:12I get that.
- 4:14But I want to tell you that you
- 4:16can do this stuff, guys.
- 4:18You absolutely can do this.
- 4:21And I know sometimes it can get –
- 4:23how can I say?
- 4:24It can get a little bit scary.
- 4:28That's true.
- 4:29It can get – it definitely can get
- 4:31scary.
- 4:32But I want to tell you that you've
- 4:34got this, that you can do this, and
- 4:37you've got to believe in yourself.
- 4:40That is probably the most important thing that
- 4:44I can tell you is to believe in
- 4:48yourself.
- 4:49If you believe in yourself, then life really
- 4:57changes.
- 5:00Yeah.
- 5:02Life really, really changes.
- 5:07And I mean that in a very special
- 5:10way.
- 5:12Life changes, and it makes a difference in
- 5:16your life and everyone else's life.
- 5:19But I think sometimes people, they get daunted
- 5:23by what's happening, what's going on around them.
- 5:26And I think that's a very important thing
- 5:29to understand, and that we have to really
- 5:33embrace that.
- 5:34We have to embrace that whole concept of
- 5:40what's going on.
- 5:42I think that's a very important thing to
- 5:44understand.
- 5:45And guys, you can do this, but you
- 5:48have to understand one thing.
- 5:49You know what that is?
- 5:50You have to understand the power, the power
- 5:54that you have.
- 5:55Because you have more power than you ever
- 5:59thought was possible.
- 6:03And it's not an illusion, guys, because I'm
- 6:06telling you something.
- 6:07You absolutely can do this in your mind.
- 6:11You can do this every single day.
- 6:15But you have to realize that it's something
- 6:18that you've got to think about.
- 6:20It's something that maybe is hard for you
- 6:23to understand.
- 6:24But I'm here to tell you guys that
- 6:26you can do this, and you can do
- 6:28this every single day.
- 6:29All right, let's move on to our next
- 6:31point.
- 6:32Alignment, guys, creates peace of mind.
- 6:35When your values and actions match, internal conflict
- 6:39dissolves.
- 6:41Alignment reduces decision fatigue, and it lets you
- 6:46operate calmly, even under pressure.
- 6:49And I know that's hard for a lot
- 6:51of people, but I'm telling you something.
- 6:53You can really do this under pressure.
- 6:56Yes, you can do this under pressure.
- 7:00And I'm telling you something.
- 7:01This can make a huge, huge difference for
- 7:05you and for so many other people.
- 7:09All right, so let's avoid forbidden compromises.
- 7:12Shortcuts that violate your principles give temporary gain
- 7:16but long-term regret.
- 7:17Saying no to compromise preserves your power, your
- 7:20clarity, and, guys, your self-respect.
- 7:24Discipline strengthens focus.
- 7:28Repetition and structure train your mind to resist
- 7:31distractions.
- 7:32Focus becomes a muscle.
- 7:34I've talked about this before.
- 7:35The more you exercise it, the sharper your
- 7:37mental edge will become.
- 7:41Integrity protects your reputation.
- 7:45Reputation is your currency.
- 7:47A single lapse can cost years of earned
- 7:51respect.
- 7:52Upholding integrity, even when unseen, builds silent authority.
- 7:59Alignment simplifies decisions when your actions align with
- 8:03your core values.
- 8:05Choices become obvious.
- 8:07Complexity decreases.
- 8:09You move faster and, of course, with confidence.
- 8:12So small discipline actions compound tiny consistent steps,
- 8:17accumulate into the massive outcomes you expect.
- 8:20Daily discipline in work, learning, and habits multiplies
- 8:24over time.
- 8:26And I think that's something that a lot
- 8:27of people, like, they just don't get it.
- 8:31So I want to tell you that that's
- 8:33something really amazing that you absolutely can do
- 8:37in your life.
- 8:40All right, so now that we know a
- 8:42little more about that, let's move on to
- 8:44another important one, which is avoid principle-violating
- 8:48shortcuts.
- 8:49Quick wins often cost you more than what
- 8:52you expected it to be.
- 8:53Following your ethics may feel slower, but ensures
- 8:57sustainable, let's say, repeatable, replicable success.
- 9:03And discipline reinforces success, guys, the habits.
- 9:08The most successful people don't rely on luck.
- 9:11They rely on the habits they repeat.
- 9:14Daily discipline solidifies those habits.
- 9:16Integrity grows through consistency.
- 9:19It's easy to appear honest occasionally, but real
- 9:23integrity, it's demonstrating consistent action day after day.
- 9:28Even when it's inconvenient, alignment directs energy to
- 9:32meaningful goals.
- 9:34Your time and your focus are finite.
- 9:37Alignment ensures every ounce of energy is invested
- 9:41where it produces the greatest impact.
- 9:45Avoid distractions from priorities.
- 9:49External noise can pull you off course.
- 9:53It can set clear boundaries to protect focus,
- 9:56allowing momentum to build naturally.
- 9:59Discipline provides freedom through structure.
- 10:02Ironically, the more disciplined your schedule and habits,
- 10:07the freer you feel.
- 10:09Structure allows flexibility because it reduces chaos.
- 10:13Integrity guides choices that are unseen.
- 10:16True character is revealed when no one is
- 10:18watching.
- 10:19I've said this many times before.
- 10:21The path in private moments, the results will
- 10:24ripple publicly.
- 10:26And that sounds like something that's cliche, but
- 10:28you know what?
- 10:29It is the truth.
- 10:30What you do in your private life will
- 10:33resonate in your public life.
- 10:38But it's not something I want you to
- 10:40just think in one way.
- 10:41I want you to understand that it comes
- 10:45down to what you're doing, okay?
- 10:49And the people get why we're doing things.
- 10:55And if we're not doing things a certain
- 10:56way, then maybe we need to change because
- 10:59we're following a pattern that's not good for
- 11:01us, all right?
- 11:03So that's important.
- 11:04Hey, Anthony, thanks so much for the like.
- 11:06Really do appreciate that.
- 11:07So thinking about this whole concept, right?
- 11:11Alignment reduces stress.
- 11:13Internal conflict drains energy.
- 11:16Aligning your actions with your values creates a
- 11:19calm mind, even amid uncertainty.
- 11:22Avoid value-contradicting actions.
- 11:25Every misaligned choice costs energy and clarity.
- 11:29Saying yes to the wrong thing, well, it
- 11:31erodes progress.
- 11:32And, of course, self-trust.
- 11:34And nobody wants to damage self-trust, do
- 11:36they?
- 11:37I would think they don't.
- 11:40So that's an important thing.
- 11:42And so we think about that.
- 11:45Maybe we'll think about doing something different.
- 11:49I think sometimes we see somebody do something
- 11:53and we say, oh, gee, I'm just going
- 11:54to do that.
- 11:54But we don't think about the consequences.
- 11:56We don't think about why somebody does it.
- 11:59We just say, oh, gee, they're jumping off
- 12:00a bridge.
- 12:01Let me go jump.
- 12:01It looks like fun.
- 12:02But we don't even, like, think about the
- 12:04whole concept.
- 12:06Discipline builds resilience, guys.
- 12:07Consistency in the face of difficulty strengthens mental
- 12:11endurance.
- 12:12Challenges become opportunities to fortify your resolve.
- 12:17Integrity creates credibility.
- 12:19People remember who does what they say.
- 12:24Credibility opens doors that talent or effort alone
- 12:27cannot open.
- 12:30Alignment clarifies the purpose.
- 12:32When actions match vision, every task feels meaningful.
- 12:39Alignment transforms mundane work into steps toward a
- 12:42larger goal.
- 12:43Avoid compromising and undermining the impact, because you
- 12:48don't want to do that.
- 12:50Sacrificing principles for expediency may produce short-term
- 12:54wins, but it diminishes long-term influence and
- 12:59reputation.
- 13:00That's important to understand.
- 13:03Very, very important.
- 13:04Discipline maintains momentum.
- 13:06That's key.
- 13:06Discipline maintains momentum.
- 13:08Discipline maintains momentum.
- 13:10Momentum isn't random.
- 13:12It's earned.
- 13:13Daily consistency keeps energy moving forward.
- 13:17Compounding results over time.
- 13:20So as you get better with something, you'll
- 13:23notice that things take you less time in
- 13:25the future.
- 13:25That's a pretty powerful thing, guys.
- 13:28Integrity ensures decisions reflect priorities.
- 13:33Every choice you make should honor your stated
- 13:36goals and your values.
- 13:38Misaligned decisions create confusion and delay progress.
- 13:44Alignment amplifies every action.
- 13:47When your actions and values align, even small
- 13:50tasks carry weight.
- 13:52Impact scales naturally when purpose guides effort.
- 13:56Avoid energy-draining behaviors.
- 13:59Distractions, negativity, and reactive choices consume mental bandwidth.
- 14:05Cut these behaviors to maintain clarity and, of
- 14:09course, focus.
- 14:10Discipline always shapes identity.
- 14:13Your habits define who you are today and
- 14:16in the future.
- 14:18Repetition of disciplined behavior molds the character and
- 14:22projects the authority for whom you are or
- 14:25becoming.
- 14:26Integrity, guys, reduces internal conflict.
- 14:30Guilt and doubt dissolve when choice aligns with
- 14:33our inner core values.
- 14:36Inner peace is built in the quiet consistency
- 14:39of doing what's right.
- 14:41Not because we have to, but because we
- 14:45want to.
- 14:46I think that's a very important thing to
- 14:49understand.
- 14:50We do it because we want to do
- 14:52it, not because we have to do it.
- 14:55Does that make a little bit of sense?
- 14:57I mean, I'm hoping it does.
- 15:00All right.
- 15:03So let's move on to the next point,
- 15:04which is alignment produces confidence.
- 15:10When an engine, okay, has the correct amount
- 15:15of friction and velocity, do you know what
- 15:19happens?
- 15:20The motor moves efficiently with using the least
- 15:24amount of energy and causing the least amount
- 15:27of damage.
- 15:29Alignment produces confidence.
- 15:31When all the gears are aligned properly and
- 15:34with the right amount of friction, we get
- 15:36a smooth-oiled machine.
- 15:38If one of those cogs or one of
- 15:40those gears is a little bit out, the
- 15:44whole chain could break.
- 15:45Belt could break.
- 15:47Gears could break.
- 15:48Lots of stuff could happen.
- 15:50Confidence, guys, is born from knowing your actions
- 15:53reflect about your true intentions.
- 15:56Consistency and alignment reinforce self-assurance.
- 16:02Self-assurance.
- 16:02Avoid distractions that steal focus, social media, toxic
- 16:07conversations, and unnecessary tasks break the flow.
- 16:12Protect your bandwidth to preserve high impact.
- 16:23Discipline and integrity and alignment equals personal power.
- 16:29Mastering these creates a compounding effect.
- 16:38Compounding.
- 16:44That's pretty interesting.
- 16:48You gain control over time, influence, and outcomes.
- 16:55Unstoppable personal power emerges from deliberate value and
- 17:00the aligned action.
- 17:00Let's go back to that motor.
- 17:04So we think about the motor and we
- 17:06think about all the sprockets and all the
- 17:07gears.
- 17:09If something's unaligned, it's not going to work
- 17:12properly.
- 17:13Let me give you something maybe that makes
- 17:15a little more sense.
- 17:15How many of you out there bowl?
- 17:17I love to bowl.
- 17:17Okay.
- 17:18So when you bowl, there are lots of
- 17:21different motors that are in place to basically
- 17:24facilitate bowling.
- 17:27So we have one motor that actually is
- 17:30the pickup motor that takes the ball and
- 17:32basically picks it up and brings it back
- 17:34up the chute, right, to you, under the
- 17:36floor.
- 17:36There's another motor, which is basically the head
- 17:39motor, which basically carries the pins and brings
- 17:43them up and down.
- 17:45We also have another motor that is going
- 17:48around that's basically allowing the pins to shoot
- 17:51around.
- 17:51So when the pins come up and they
- 17:53get dropped back in, this thing kind of
- 17:54like brings them around and puts them into
- 17:56the right and goes to the right slot.
- 17:58So you got three motors on a bowling
- 17:59lane.
- 18:01Plus you got the motor up top.
- 18:04But the thing is, if any of those
- 18:07motors are not in alignment, forget the motor.
- 18:10Let's think about any of the processes.
- 18:12Let's think about the channel.
- 18:14So when a pin comes down, okay, and
- 18:17it's getting returned back to where it has
- 18:18to go, if one little thing is out
- 18:21of whack, that pin might not get in.
- 18:24The pin might go to the wrong part,
- 18:28and it could cause a problem.
- 18:29See, it's not what you see that causes
- 18:34the problem.
- 18:35It's the result of what we don't see.
- 18:37So I think that's a very important thing
- 18:41that a lot of us miss.
- 18:44They miss that whole concept that alignment is
- 18:48not just about us.
- 18:51It's about our environment.
- 18:56Wow, that's a pretty interesting thing, guys.
- 19:01That's a pretty interesting thing.
- 19:07And I got to tell you that this
- 19:09is something that a lot of people, they
- 19:12just don't realize it.
- 19:15They don't understand how it works.
- 19:18But I want to tell you it works
- 19:21in a very unique way, a very unique
- 19:25way.
- 19:27Because in that way it works, it becomes,
- 19:33let's say, very amazing for us, okay, very
- 19:38amazing for all of us to know that
- 19:43our alignment is truly what's keeping us, if
- 19:48it's not correct, or what's allowing us to
- 19:51be in flow.
- 19:53Let's think about a river for a minute,
- 19:55right?
- 19:56Let's suppose that that river, instead of flowing
- 19:58straight down because of an obstacle, it flows
- 20:01left or flows right.
- 20:02Well, that could cause a big avalanche.
- 20:05That could cause a big problem to the
- 20:08complete ecosystem of nature, all because something's in
- 20:12its way, like that bowling alley.
- 20:17If the motor is out of alignment that
- 20:21does the pickup on the ball, what could
- 20:23happen?
- 20:23Well, first, the balls won't get returned.
- 20:26Second, the balls could really jam up.
- 20:28And as they jam up, not only can
- 20:30they come up, they could cause more damage
- 20:32and cause something to back up into another
- 20:34gear for a motor that is working and
- 20:36cause that gear to snap or break.
- 20:41So our alignment is key to not only
- 20:44our success but other people's success.
- 20:46Does that make a little more sense?
- 20:48I'm hoping it does.
- 20:49So thinking about alignment, what else is in
- 20:52alignment?
- 20:53Well, I'm not a car engineer.
- 20:54I'm a regular engineer.
- 20:56If your tires are not aligned properly, from
- 20:59what I understand, you can really have some
- 21:02wear and tear on those tires.
- 21:04You can have some wear and tear, and
- 21:05that's a very big problem for a lot
- 21:09of people.
- 21:10They think that they don't need to get
- 21:13the tires aligned.
- 21:14But when you have your wheels rotated, they
- 21:17do an alignment.
- 21:19You can really damage the tires and how
- 21:22the tires work on your car.
- 21:24What else is aligned in your life?
- 21:27Well, we talked about bowling.
- 21:30We've talked about the car.
- 21:33How about when you, let's say, play soccer?
- 21:42If your foot is not aligned properly to
- 21:47the ball, to the goal, you're going to
- 21:51miss.
- 21:52So if your foot is misaligned, you're going
- 21:54to either fall or you're going to miss
- 21:56the ball.
- 21:56And if the foot and the ball is
- 21:59not aligned to the net, you're not going
- 22:01to make a shot.
- 22:03You're going to get it out of bounds.
- 22:06The other team is going to get the
- 22:07ball, and potentially you're going to have to
- 22:10get back on defense instead of being on
- 22:12offense.
- 22:13So alignment is something we have every day
- 22:15in our life.
- 22:17Another thing that has alignment in it is
- 22:19our balance, is our flow, is our energy.
- 22:24So our alignment comes from a lot of
- 22:27things.
- 22:27And what I've learned is that when something
- 22:30is out of alignment, don't try to force
- 22:33it in alignment if it doesn't go naturally.
- 22:36Let it go.
- 22:38Let it go.
- 22:40Let it flow like warm or cold water
- 22:44off your back in a shower.
- 22:48And so alignment is not just a rule.
- 22:53It's a strong guideline that helps us stay
- 22:58on track.
- 22:59If we didn't know about alignment, we'd always
- 23:03go out of bounds in a game.
- 23:05If we didn't know alignment, we'd constantly have
- 23:09to be replacing motors because one would be
- 23:12breaking the other one.
- 23:15And as you think about different things in
- 23:17life that have alignment, just looking at my
- 23:19desk, I have a stapler.
- 23:20And so the stapler, for example, if I
- 23:23was to take this piece of paper and
- 23:24I was to just put it there like
- 23:26this, you can hear that little snap.
- 23:29Because the paper was in alignment with the
- 23:34head of the stapler, it put a staple
- 23:37right through.
- 23:37You guys can't see probably, but it put
- 23:40an alignment through it.
- 23:42Another piece of alignment, I mean, just looking
- 23:44at my desk, other alignments.
- 23:45So we have my tape dispenser here, right?
- 23:49And so, first of all, the tape has
- 23:55to be aligned into the little center sprocket,
- 24:00or you can't load it back into the
- 24:01tape dispenser.
- 24:02Then you have to align the wheel, which
- 24:06has these two little, like a post that
- 24:08goes through its side.
- 24:09You drop it down, and then you can
- 24:12set it back in.
- 24:13And now that's in alignment, and now the
- 24:15tape can actually be dispensed.
- 24:20When something's in alignment, it's able to have
- 24:24the flow that it was designed to have.
- 24:28If something's out of alignment, then we get
- 24:31a whole challenge of things happening.
- 24:34We get things that are possibly going to
- 24:38break, like bridges, for example, right?
- 24:40I don't know if you know this, but
- 24:41the reason a lot of bridges don't break
- 24:43is because they're designed to bend and sway.
- 24:46Now, don't panic about that.
- 24:47If they didn't and they had a big
- 24:49wind coming at them, they would snap.
- 24:52So they have to have a little give,
- 24:54a little alignment in the way they flow.
- 24:57If they didn't, they'd snap.
- 25:00They'd break.
- 25:02So thinking about alignment one last time.
- 25:06You are in alignment with your life.
- 25:11If you're not in alignment with your life,
- 25:14you're going to hit roadblocks.
- 25:17Does that make sense?
- 25:19I'm hoping it does.
- 25:20If it doesn't make sense, then maybe you
- 25:23have to realize one thing.
- 25:25You know what that one thing is?
- 25:27That one thing is that your life needs
- 25:31to be in balance.
- 25:33If it's not, for any given reason, you
- 25:36will run into lots of pitfalls.
- 25:41I mean lots of them, not just one,
- 25:45lots of them.
- 25:46And I think that's an important thing for
- 25:48a lot of people to realize, that because
- 25:51we fall into a pitfall, we think that
- 25:54we are out of balance.
- 25:58That pitfall can sometimes give us the push
- 26:03to go around, because maybe if we didn't
- 26:06hit that pitfall, we might have stayed out
- 26:08of alignment.
- 26:09So by getting in that pitfall, we might
- 26:11actually get into alignment because we now changed
- 26:14our position.
- 26:14Does that make sense?
- 26:15I'm hoping it does.
- 26:18So this is a very interesting area, and
- 26:20it's one of my favorite areas, guys.
- 26:22So I want you to remember something as
- 26:26we're getting ready to close the show out

- 26:36Courage, courage, courage.
- 26:39And calmness, calmness, calmness.
- 26:45These three things are your daily tools.
- 26:49Now just because you can't pick them up,
- 26:51because you can't touch them, they're not tangible,
- 26:53that doesn't mean they're not a tool.
- 26:55Things we can't see but we can implement
- 26:58are still tools.
- 27:00It's not like it's something in a toolbox,
- 27:02right?
- 27:05Apply discipline, guys.
- 27:07Act with integrity always.
- 27:11And ensure alignment is present in every choice
- 27:16you make.
- 27:17The small steps that you make from the
