- 0:12Speaker 1: you're gonna tune in. Don't get it twisted, get it right.

- 0:17Speaker 2: On it, the hottest.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Yo Bootleg cav podcast. Man special guests in here. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 3: gonna let you guys introduce yourselves. You guys have a
- 0:28Speaker 3: podcast called the Lick, Leak, Leak. It's leak. You know
- 0:31Speaker 3: why I say the lick because it looks like leakor
- 0:33Speaker 3: well also because the alcoholics but the licks were like k.
- 0:36Speaker 3: So it's the Leak.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Cleik. My name is Khalik Scott. Khalik Kalik Scott. All
- 0:41Speaker 4: the homeses called me leak.
- 0:42Speaker 3: This is the Leak podcast.
- 0:43Speaker 4: See the drip drip like water like wet.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Okay, so liking shit. So it's short for Khaleik.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Click. Yeah, all the homes call me leak. So that's
- 0:52Speaker 4: how it came to the Leak podcast.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Okay. And then this is Yike Mike.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Who You're a DJ, yeah, DJ, producer, graphic designer.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Everything, and the co host of the League podcast.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So how long has this podcast been active?
- 1:04Speaker 4: Since twenty eighteen?
- 1:05Speaker 3: We started, well, shit, that's me.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I like checked out some of you guys and stuff
- 1:10Speaker 3: on YouTube, and I was like, okay, you guys are
- 1:12Speaker 3: like throwing live parties.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Yeahhit got kind of intense.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I saw like just the stream of like ass just
- 1:20Speaker 3: like strippers and you're DJing, and I'm like, okay, well
- 1:25Speaker 3: this is different. And then I saw you guys obviously
- 1:28Speaker 3: do your interviews and stuff as well, but like, how
- 1:30Speaker 3: would you describe I guess your podcasts.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's a lifestyle podcast.
- 1:39Speaker 4: We do life with people.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And I was doing this since twenty eighteen, and I
- 1:44Speaker 1: really found, like if you watched our first episode that's
- 1:50Speaker 1: on YouTube, I did what everybody does, get a bunch
- 1:53Speaker 1: of homies, get a bunch of mics, and just wait
- 1:55Speaker 1: for magic to happen. And I realized nobody knows how
- 1:58Speaker 1: to really talk, and everybody just gotta sit there and wait.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So I said, all right, let's go back to the
- 2:01Speaker 1: drawing board. So I went back started just looking at
- 2:06Speaker 1: what their issues were what the problems were. The main
- 2:08Speaker 1: issues were the look, the sound, the branding, all that stuff.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So then it took some time off, came up with
- 2:15Speaker 1: the rebranding, and then we did the whole Simpson vibe.
- 2:18Speaker 1: The whole Simpson vibe is like people fuck with it
- 2:21Speaker 1: just by looking at it. Yeah, they don't even have
- 2:23Speaker 1: to hear it, and they're already.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Like, yo, fuck with your podcast. So yeah, so we
- 2:28Speaker 4: did all that.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I rebuilt the whole Simpson set, so that was like
- 2:31Speaker 1: a quick eye grabber, the logo, everything, all that stuff.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And then I was on this journey of doing what
- 2:39Speaker 1: everybody else is doing. Get the artists, get the influencers,
- 2:42Speaker 1: bring them in, talk to them, do.
- 2:44Speaker 4: All that stuff or whatever.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And then I got tired of talking to those people
- 2:48Speaker 1: because I feel like a lot of them don't really
- 2:50Speaker 1: know how to conversate themselves. They just want to come
- 2:53Speaker 1: on the couch and get the dickstroke. You feel me like,
- 2:55Speaker 1: let me just get my clips to look you know. However,
- 2:58Speaker 1: they need to look on the ground. So I went
- 3:01Speaker 1: on the journey the wind. I did a lot of
- 3:02Speaker 1: big names, interviewed a lot of big people, got a
- 3:06Speaker 1: lot of good traction, but I felt like I was
- 3:09Speaker 1: working harder and not smarter. And so once I got
- 3:12Speaker 1: tired of that, I'm like friends with like DJs that
- 3:18Speaker 1: play in Hollywood, Yike, Mike plays a lot of these
- 3:21Speaker 1: mansion parties and stuff like that. So when we're going out,
- 3:25Speaker 1: I'm giving these DJs might drop for the podcast, and
- 3:27Speaker 1: I'm like, when we're here, play this, bro, just play my.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Drop in Hollywood. So all that stuff is happening in Hollywood.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We're going crazy in Hollywood as it is with our
- 3:36Speaker 1: own circle of friends and the girls and all this
- 3:38Speaker 1: other stuff that we're doing. So we were doing the
- 3:41Speaker 1: interview stuff, and we wanted to get into the live
- 3:44Speaker 1: stream world. And the one thing that everybody says to
- 3:47Speaker 1: me when they come over to the studio is, damn,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you don't see all this on camera, like all the
- 3:53Speaker 1: room and everything. And so I just took time to say, Okay,
- 3:57Speaker 1: we're gonna go live. It has to we have to
- 3:59Speaker 1: show the whole room live. It has to be different
- 4:01Speaker 1: than the episodes.
- 4:02Speaker 4: You know.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And so when I decided to do that, I said, well,
- 4:06Speaker 1: let's just do everything we're doing right now in Hollywood
- 4:09Speaker 1: and these parties and these mansions and let's just do
- 4:11Speaker 1: it on live stream.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I didn't want to do it like everybody else, right,
- 4:14Speaker 4: you get me.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So we started doing it and it started off with
- 4:17Speaker 1: one DJ and one stripper, and then we went six months.
- 4:21Speaker 1: The second episode, the stripper that was on the show, I.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Literally had a conversation with her.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I said, look, just give me six months, stay down
- 4:31Speaker 1: for the come up, and I guarantee you will be
- 4:32Speaker 1: in a different place.
- 4:33Speaker 4: We just have to hit every.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Week for six months, and she said, I'm with it.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And so we did that and shit went crazy.
- 4:41Speaker 4: And it just snowballed and it's snowballed, and it's snowballed,
- 4:43Speaker 4: and it's snowballed and it's snowballed.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Until the last episode, the season finale. We had to
- 4:48Speaker 1: stop because the neighbors, the cops, people were banging on
- 4:52Speaker 1: the door.
- 4:52Speaker 4: It's not just a party. On camera.
- 4:56Speaker 1: The streets, they're shooting music videos in there's convertibles, the
- 5:00Speaker 1: ass being thrown and my neighbors are just like.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Fuck, is this at your house?
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Oh so you do that at the crib.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I wake up and cook.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Yeah we cooked. So all these people that you're seeing
- 5:12Speaker 4: are pulling up to my crib.
- 5:14Speaker 3: So what is your history, like, just what do you
- 5:17Speaker 3: do outside of the podcast? I mean, obviously you.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Just well, I'm a creative, so I've always created. Prior
- 5:23Speaker 1: to this, I was doing music videos for artists, so
- 5:26Speaker 1: I was traveling, editing music videos and shooting music videos, ghosts, editing,
- 5:31Speaker 1: getting hard drive sent to me for like labels and
- 5:33Speaker 1: shit like that.
- 5:35Speaker 4: So I was doing that.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Like I said, I did one podcast with my friend Ziggy,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and the thing I got out of that podcast was
- 5:42Speaker 1: what you put out.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Is what you're gonna get back.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So I was putting out these music videos and I
- 5:48Speaker 1: wasn't putting out enough podcast content. So once I got
- 5:51Speaker 1: tired of that lane or that field and all that stuff,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I said, fuck that, Like I'm over it. Let's just
- 5:58Speaker 1: these people are paying me to look big, so I said,
- 6:00Speaker 1: let me just stop making them look big and make
- 6:02Speaker 1: myself look big real quick. And so that's what we
- 6:05Speaker 1: did and we ran it up and it's been going crazy.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And are you editing everything yourself?
- 6:11Speaker 4: It's being edited in real time.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Oh, it's like switcher.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Once it's done, Yeah, once it's done, it's done,
- 6:17Speaker 4: like you I because it's my crib I have time.
- 6:20Speaker 3: But even like when you guys do interviews. Yeah, I know,
- 6:23Speaker 3: what about like your social clips? Are you making those yourself?
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, cut up?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know if it's like you doing it?
- 6:28Speaker 4: Now I do it, Mike does it? We cut up?
- 6:30Speaker 1: We really cook, That's what I'm saying. That's the difference
- 6:32Speaker 1: between I guess us and these other podcasts. They either
- 6:36Speaker 1: don't know how to cook, or they just outsource it,
- 6:39Speaker 1: or they just let somebody figure it out. With us,
- 6:42Speaker 1: We're sending clips back and forth. We're sitting there until
- 6:44Speaker 1: three in the morning after the podcast, sending clips on
- 6:47Speaker 1: the laptop, like, Yo, this shit is crazy.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Use that.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Let me use that clip.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Let use that you like that clip? Man, I got
- 6:52Speaker 2: this a fake after.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Just doing voiceovers for his social post later on.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, so you told me off camera, you said that,
- 7:00Speaker 3: you said that you had an interview with my friend
- 7:02Speaker 3: r J. Yeah, and his lady is Brie Carter, who's
- 7:06Speaker 3: got a new project out. She's doing music, she's been
- 7:09Speaker 3: doing music.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Yeah, she was just on the show.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Now, now you said that you had you didn't know
- 7:14Speaker 3: that that was his girl, and you had.
- 7:17Speaker 4: No idea, no idea.
- 7:18Speaker 3: So you walked into that interview not knowing that. No,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I didn't walk into your interview. I'm saying, but you
- 7:22Speaker 3: had asked, you had asked some questions had you known, Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 3: you wouldn't have asked.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Probably, not that I wouldn't have asked. I probably still
- 7:30Speaker 1: would have asked because like the whole premise of the show,
- 7:32Speaker 1: we talk about relationships, right, I probably would have just
- 7:35Speaker 1: let things slide. When I look back at it, it's
- 7:38Speaker 1: like I said it, we moved on, and then I
- 7:40Speaker 1: doubled down on it, and that's when it was like, hey, yo,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's kind of what we do here.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Well, what you said was your superpower is not knowing.
- 7:48Speaker 4: The unknowing is my superpower.
- 7:49Speaker 3: So what does that mean?
- 7:51Speaker 4: I just asked, Like I.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Think a lot of I go to a lot of
- 7:54Speaker 1: these events. One of the things we do different than
- 7:56Speaker 1: a lot of these other podcasts is we go to
- 7:59Speaker 1: these functions. We go of these events, and we do
- 8:01Speaker 1: interviews with artists and and you know, we're in the
- 8:03Speaker 1: face with artists and so a lot of the times.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And one of the reasons I have Yike, Mike and JR.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And these dudes around me is because they're in that
- 8:13Speaker 1: they know.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So the people were around, they're like, yo, go holler
- 8:17Speaker 1: at him, go hill at him. And I'm like, all right,
- 8:19Speaker 1: bet what's up. I don't got a problem talking to people.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'm a people person. And so like there's interviews where
- 8:25Speaker 1: people have come to me after like yo, you asked
- 8:27Speaker 1: him this, that's crazy.
- 8:29Speaker 4: And I'm like, I don't know what. Yeah, I didn't
- 8:32Speaker 4: know why, it's crazy.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I just asking him questions, like you know, but I
- 8:35Speaker 1: feel like that that's my superpower. I don't know too
- 8:38Speaker 1: much about these artists because I don't have time to study.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Like I'm literally like I'm almost like a dog when
- 8:46Speaker 1: you know how dog sniffs ask and they just kind
- 8:48Speaker 1: of figure out what's what's help with you? That's how
- 8:50Speaker 1: I am with people. I'm like, what's up with you?
- 8:52Speaker 3: What do you do? What do you want?
- 8:53Speaker 4: What's popping?
- 8:53Speaker 3: All right?
- 8:54Speaker 4: What's moving? All right?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Cool?
- 8:55Speaker 4: Bet on? Next? What do you got going on? Okay? Cool?
- 8:58Speaker 4: That's how I am with people, you know, So.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I know that, Uh the day in l A Homie
- 9:04Speaker 3: had did a l A Rapper report card. Yeah, and
- 9:09Speaker 3: what made you want to do? Uh? LA Area podcast
- 9:14Speaker 3: report card? Uh?
- 9:16Speaker 4: It's marketing.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just marketed like for like I said, me
- 9:19Speaker 1: and Mike we cooked. I cooked like I designed.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I'm with the Huh how long did it take for
- 9:25Speaker 3: you to put this together?
- 9:26Speaker 4: A week?
- 9:28Speaker 3: Okay?
- 9:28Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 9:29Speaker 2: You said this was l a area podcast report. That's
- 9:31Speaker 2: what it looks like, right, Nah. I was connected, as
- 9:33Speaker 2: I e based.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I mean, I'm talking about southern California, California, Southern California.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It's a southern California. Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Well for me, like, I didn't really look at it like,
- 9:45Speaker 1: uh like location based. I just looked like over here
- 9:49Speaker 1: on this side of town, what's what are some of
- 9:52Speaker 1: the outlets that are making noise and have influence over
- 9:55Speaker 1: here on this side.
- 9:56Speaker 4: So I didn't really look at like boundaries. So I
- 9:58Speaker 4: don't really know where.
- 10:00Speaker 1: All these are located, right, But I didn't go I
- 10:03Speaker 1: didn't go to like the podcast I know on the
- 10:05Speaker 1: East Coast.
- 10:05Speaker 3: No, No, I mean, I mean the way I looked
- 10:07Speaker 3: at this was I looked at it as like the way,
- 10:10Speaker 3: uh is his name Dejon Dejon? The way he did
- 10:13Speaker 3: at the LA Report. I was like, oh, this is
- 10:15Speaker 3: like a obviously southern California based report card, right, So
- 10:20Speaker 3: I see you guys got all tens, which is expected
- 10:22Speaker 3: because it is your report card.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Somebody coming And it was like, you can't grade your
- 10:27Speaker 4: own ship, I said, And if you're going to grade
- 10:29Speaker 4: your own ship, it's gotta be all you should grade
- 10:32Speaker 4: your own ship.
- 10:34Speaker 3: So I'm looking at this report card and uh, the
- 10:38Speaker 3: one thing I can say is I never met you
- 10:40Speaker 3: guys or spoke to you guys ever before. So when
- 10:43Speaker 3: I got tagged in this report card, I was like,
- 10:46Speaker 3: I'm always like, I'm like, I don't know. Let's like,
- 10:48Speaker 3: let me take a peek.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Let me ask you this. Do you agree with your grade?
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah? For sure?
- 10:54Speaker 4: Do you think like holistically like the whole thing like
- 10:57Speaker 4: this thing is off?
- 10:58Speaker 3: So I think we listen to what I say. Like
- 11:01Speaker 3: with stuff like this, everything's opinion based, subjective, it's subjective.
- 11:06Speaker 4: But I'm saying with you, you're with your opinion. Do you
- 11:09Speaker 4: think this is far off?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Like I'm not all the way tapped in with everybody,
- 11:17Speaker 3: wapped with everybody on this, which is cool, which is
- 11:20Speaker 3: fair right, So for me, if you look at like
- 11:23Speaker 3: for the ones that you do know, like I love
- 11:25Speaker 3: back on fig So I agree with you there, I think, Uh,
- 11:31Speaker 3: brown Bag is great, so I agree with you there.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I haven't watched enough of Gina's stuff to really give
- 11:40Speaker 3: a grade on Hohle fessions.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I had to do research on it, but I agree.
- 11:43Speaker 3: With her being a ten personality. She got a D
- 11:47Speaker 3: plus overall, but she got a ten as a personality,
- 11:49Speaker 3: so I could agree with you there. I only saw
- 11:55Speaker 3: what the Homie Watch Homie Quan said about the clap
- 11:57Speaker 3: It Up La guys, so I am very ignorant to
- 12:00Speaker 3: their platform, and I don't mean to be. I gotta
- 12:02Speaker 3: check it out. But they got f Yeah the day
- 12:07Speaker 3: in l a guy again, like I'm not. I know
- 12:12Speaker 3: who he is, and I've seen him on other platforms,
- 12:14Speaker 3: and I know he's got certain opinions about radio that
- 12:18Speaker 3: him and I don't see necessarily. I had eye on
- 12:20Speaker 3: and I'm sure we'll talk one day. He's got a D.
- 12:22Speaker 3: But again, I haven't watched his podcast, so I can't
- 12:25Speaker 3: even snippets. I've only seen him on No Jumper.
- 12:29Speaker 2: What stops you from watching the podcast?
- 12:31Speaker 4: Like?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Is it time or you have to I just time?
- 12:34Speaker 3: I guess I'm like in my bubble, So my bubble
- 12:37Speaker 3: is like my bubble is like sports Joe Rogan. I mean,
- 12:44Speaker 3: it takes a lot for me to like check out
- 12:47Speaker 3: a new platform.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Have you seen the lead podcast? Like, have you watched
- 12:49Speaker 2: anything I just did? I just did this week?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Which one I threw on the Azy Shrike episode? Have
- 12:55Speaker 3: you seen the.
- 12:56Speaker 4: List on a podcast with ship on his chest? That
- 13:02Speaker 4: let off?
- 13:03Speaker 1: That was the first time any artist came to the
- 13:05Speaker 1: podcast with ship to get off.
- 13:07Speaker 3: So what I did was I like, I just kind
- 13:09Speaker 3: of looked over your guys and I was like, Okay,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you guys are doing these streams. So I threw the
- 13:13Speaker 3: stream on and I was like, oh, they got strippers
- 13:14Speaker 3: and ship the djo angles, Like I've never seen nothing
- 13:18Speaker 3: like that before. Like it looked cool. The one thing
- 13:20Speaker 3: I was worried about is like y'all titty pops out,
- 13:23Speaker 3: y'all get demonetized. Yeah, well.
- 13:26Speaker 4: This is the thing with the whole Monday thing.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Anyways, the whole thing was for promotion because we're playing
- 13:30Speaker 1: commercial music, so we can't monetize it anyway.
- 13:32Speaker 3: True, but I'm saying you might get your channel yangs.
- 13:34Speaker 4: You know what, it hasn't nothing popped out. Yeah, we
- 13:38Speaker 4: put like adults and all this shit. There's I don't
- 13:40Speaker 4: know if you went on YouTube, but like YG's video
- 13:43Speaker 4: has full on naked bitches.
- 13:44Speaker 3: On your well you know what. We just talked about
- 13:47Speaker 3: this like but naked. There's a there's a dude who
- 13:49Speaker 3: went viral because he shaved his asshole on YouTube and
- 13:51Speaker 3: it's still up. It's got like fifty million. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 3: there's a grown man who shaved his ass. A lot
- 13:57Speaker 3: of people are on YouTube.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a lot of people are afraid of
- 13:59Speaker 4: Newton YouTube. But there's you can do it. There's just
- 14:02Speaker 4: a way to do it. So I think you just
- 14:04Speaker 4: got to.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I checked out, like you guys. I love the set.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I love how you guys recreated the Simpsons. Couch looks dope.
- 14:11Speaker 3: That's dope. It's in your garage too, so it looks
- 14:14Speaker 3: I mean it looks legit. I've seen some of the
- 14:16Speaker 3: forty four Voto stuff that's to do with the orange
- 14:18Speaker 3: ski mask. I like his ship's cool. I don't know
- 14:23Speaker 3: who ox connected, so I can't you know DJ chart.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Single yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Platform, Oh yeah.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I like his tiktoks. He'd be uh playing the la stuff.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Right everything playlist. I even like.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Everything came my f damn. He hasn't dropped in assistency
- 14:44Speaker 3: is off.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I'm on that.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I was on that podcast.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I also like Okay, but but I like his tiktoks,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I really do. So you guys did give him a
- 14:51Speaker 3: social media content You guys gave him a nine, so
- 14:54Speaker 3: that's fair, Like, like consistency is important.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but but like if the social media content with
- 15:01Speaker 1: the stuff that they drop on like Instagram and the artists.
- 15:06Speaker 3: But like if you give them a nine on that,
- 15:08Speaker 3: that makes sense, right, Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But as far as consistency, it's just not there. Like
- 15:12Speaker 1: as far as podcasts dropping a lot.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I mean I love Rose krans Ave, I love Rosekranzvic.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I mean they've been kind of the LA platform to
- 15:20Speaker 3: me for a long time. I think Homegoing Radio maybe
- 15:24Speaker 3: could have been a little higher. But I'm biased because
- 15:26Speaker 3: djhead is like my brother. I mean he just called
- 15:27Speaker 3: me before we started this podcast.
- 15:30Speaker 4: But yeah, but I feel like they're.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Like I think consistency is their their issue, their issue.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah sure, but I feel like they're in like this
- 15:36Speaker 1: not rebranding phase, but they're they're doing different things.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and you you gave them like a ten on topics,
- 15:43Speaker 3: eight on personality, ten on it and that really an
- 15:45Speaker 3: important thing is the ten on impact and the ten
- 15:48Speaker 3: on I.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Give a lot of tens out this this report. Guy
- 15:50Speaker 4: got a lot.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think, Yeah, when you look at a lot of
- 15:52Speaker 3: this ship, and I like the corner Store freestyles. But again,
- 15:55Speaker 3: it's like it's a freestyle platform from what I've seen. Again,
- 15:58Speaker 3: I'm speaking from a place rents because that's all i've seen.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, And that's why I gave the personality
- 16:04Speaker 1: uh topics.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Before, because if you've got freestyles, what are the topics?
- 16:07Speaker 3: But they do great freestyles. Let's see community B plus.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I love back on FIG I love Community, I love
- 16:17Speaker 3: their podcast. I like Icon and I think I think
- 16:22Speaker 3: he's great on that podcast. I don't know about him
- 16:24Speaker 3: on No Jumper because I.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Know, I know, I'm just saying I like him.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I like him as a host of the of the
- 16:30Speaker 3: Food Community.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I just need the energy needs to be a little
- 16:33Speaker 4: bit more more energy.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I need school, he did. I mean, I think they're
- 16:36Speaker 3: like he's doing a good job of I like Food Community.
- 16:40Speaker 3: They're solid. I've always fuck with him, They're a great follow.
- 16:42Speaker 1: They kind of kind It was funny because I was
- 16:46Speaker 1: doing a bunch of collab posts with a bunch of
- 16:47Speaker 1: other media platforms, and they they collabed with me and
- 16:52Speaker 1: I got somebody in trouble over there because they hit
- 16:55Speaker 1: me after like an hour later and was like my
- 16:58Speaker 1: manager told me, I can't post this because we didn't
- 16:59Speaker 1: get so then they took it down and.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Oh really yeah yeah yeah, I mean a bees respectable Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 3: like you just got to run it up, no jumper
- 17:08Speaker 3: c Yeah, let me see what. Okay, So personality A five.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So obviously you guys aren't aren't aren't friends of Adam
- 17:15Speaker 3: because he is the personality ten no no, no, no, no
- 17:17Speaker 3: no no seven.
- 17:18Speaker 4: No, But no, Jumper is not just Adam, it's everybody
- 17:21Speaker 4: that's there.
- 17:21Speaker 3: You're right. Yeah, so I'll give you that, yeah, because
- 17:23Speaker 3: I do think there are certain guys on their channel
- 17:26Speaker 3: that aren't great.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I feel like they just it's it's like a revolving
- 17:29Speaker 1: door and they're trying to find that that's fair.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Now, that's a fair assessment. Shots a brick baby who's amazing.
- 17:34Speaker 3: He just he's here actually right now.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Some people that are solid. Some people it just looks
- 17:39Speaker 4: like they're trying to figure it out.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And I do think they're really good I think you
- 17:42Speaker 3: gave them a four on social media content, but I
- 17:43Speaker 3: feel like they pump out content on social media a lot.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't think that it's not just posting.
- 17:50Speaker 1: It's back in the day they were like the lead
- 17:53Speaker 1: of the culture where you went to them for new flavor.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Now it's just internet mess Okay, you get me. It's
- 17:58Speaker 1: not No, it's not about their pocket anymore.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Why do you guys, I'm assuming that the Dejon guy's
- 18:06Speaker 3: not happy with this? Yeah?
- 18:08Speaker 4: Low key? Well, I mean, I don't.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Mean your own version of his thing and gave him
- 18:14Speaker 3: a d Did you see the cover photo I saw
- 18:16Speaker 3: holding it? I saw that. What do you think about that?
- 18:20Speaker 3: I mean, I thought it was kind of funny. That's
- 18:22Speaker 3: the post I saw because yeah, so I thought it
- 18:26Speaker 3: was cool.
- 18:27Speaker 4: But what do you think he thought?
- 18:28Speaker 3: I thought he hated it for sure. Why don't he
- 18:30Speaker 3: hate it, though? Because he did the l a report card.
- 18:32Speaker 2: But it's him, it's.
- 18:35Speaker 4: We're promoting him.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's the brand of the report card. So we
- 18:39Speaker 2: got to do our respects and this is the podcast.
- 18:41Speaker 3: You guys didn't pay homage to him in that way.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Basically homage, but I photoshopped his hand to hold his
- 18:46Speaker 4: own report You guys are nah. He reposted somebody's tweet online.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He reposted somebody's tweet.
- 18:53Speaker 1: That said it ain't valid if it's not Dejon doing
- 18:58Speaker 1: the report card or something like that.
- 19:00Speaker 4: And that's all I've really heard of it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: But yeah, everybody in my comments is tagging them. Everybody
- 19:07Speaker 1: around me. This is the crazy part.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I haven't been blocked, but grind Face got blocked all
- 19:12Speaker 4: these other people that follow him.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Mike Nah, I made his intro for his whole podcast
- 19:18Speaker 2: to beat.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I made that. I'm done. Mike's a great name. By
- 19:21Speaker 3: the way, I'm the one and only. So Hey, that's
- 19:24Speaker 3: a sick name. What's your name? Mike? Motherfucker?
- 19:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna use that as a tag. I got that, uh.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Tag no cab, But you guys gave me a a
- 19:34Speaker 3: which I appreciated. Uh, I guess I don't really Uh yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 3: I mean thanks.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'll tell you why, because uh, there's some
- 19:42Speaker 1: people that hit me up and try to make this.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Like a racist. We don't know each other.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yeah, we don't know each other at all.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I never ever spoken to either of you guys. I
- 19:50Speaker 3: never followed you before this. It was unbiased.
- 19:53Speaker 4: It's an unbiastaking.
- 19:54Speaker 1: And I'm gonna tell you why because to me watching
- 19:57Speaker 1: from the outside, I don't sit here and watch every episode.
- 20:01Speaker 4: I'd light you if I did that.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But the clips that you do post and the interviews
- 20:04Speaker 1: that you do get I feel like for the culture,
- 20:07Speaker 1: they're impactful, they're big names, they mean something.
- 20:11Speaker 4: The branding is here, it's consistent.
- 20:13Speaker 1: When everybody fell off with podcasting, everybody want to start
- 20:16Speaker 1: a podcast. And one thing I tell everybody that tells me, oh,
- 20:19Speaker 1: I want to start a podcast, I said, good luck.
- 20:21Speaker 1: The hardest part about podcasting isn't these cameras, isn't any
- 20:25Speaker 1: any of this shit. The hardest part is consistency and
- 20:28Speaker 1: swimming and the fact that you've been doing it for
- 20:30Speaker 1: so long.
- 20:30Speaker 4: To me, I feel like you're the West Coast.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Version of like funk flex appreciate you get me like
- 20:36Speaker 1: he's just a known staple and artists know. They go
- 20:39Speaker 1: over there to wrap, they go over there to check in,
- 20:41Speaker 1: they go over there, go over there.
- 20:42Speaker 3: To do that.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And it's been a flag that's been over here consistently.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You know, where people aren't like, oh it was here
- 20:48Speaker 1: for a little bit, and then where did it go.
- 20:50Speaker 1: He's out there trying to figure it out right now,
- 20:52Speaker 1: or he's doing other things and he got another deal
- 20:54Speaker 1: over here, so his podcast is suffering for it, and
- 20:57Speaker 1: it's always been consistent.
- 20:59Speaker 4: So from the outside, I'm like, that would.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Be someone where I could be like, yeah, like that,
- 21:05Speaker 1: that would be a good model to follow for anybody podcast.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I appreciate them, y, yeah, definitely. Yeah. I was like,
- 21:10Speaker 3: I was like, oh shit, I don't even know these guys,
- 21:13Speaker 3: ar no, no, no, no.
- 21:14Speaker 4: But see, this is the thing. Some people try to
- 21:16Speaker 4: make it, make it a racial thing.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I didn't even see. I haven't seen any of the
- 21:19Speaker 3: commentary about my grade. So there has been people saying that.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Oh, my DM's crazy. I'm trying to dig ride.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I gave full community a good grade because I want
- 21:28Speaker 1: to meet them and I'm a fan of them and
- 21:29Speaker 1: I need them. And I graded other other platforms higher
- 21:35Speaker 1: grades than the black ones, and so I'm disrespecting the
- 21:38Speaker 1: black community. And I didn't look at color. I looked
- 21:42Speaker 1: at quality. Yeah, I looked at quality.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Sound Like sound is a big issue for a lot
- 21:48Speaker 4: of these platforms trying.
- 21:49Speaker 1: To figure it out for sure, straight up, and a
- 21:52Speaker 1: lot of the things that people don't value. It shows
- 21:55Speaker 1: production value, production value. It's crazy and a lot of
- 21:58Speaker 1: them got a bad grade in mind because it's the
- 22:01Speaker 1: same setup. It's a round table with microphones or a
- 22:05Speaker 1: flat wall that doesn't look interesting, and they just think
- 22:08Speaker 1: if I talk, people will listen.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Nobody.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Everybody wants to podcast and do all this stuff the
- 22:13Speaker 2: same exact way, like everybody wants to be a clone.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Why I would say this like that was one thing?
- 22:18Speaker 3: Because I'm not sure you guys. Partying on Stream is
- 22:22Speaker 3: a podcast.
- 22:23Speaker 4: But did you watch the whole episode?
- 22:25Speaker 2: You might have seen the party, but let me let
- 22:28Speaker 2: me just interviews.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Very original.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Wait but wait, wait did you watch an episode?
- 22:33Speaker 1: Okay, let me explain to you what happens on the
- 22:35Speaker 1: podcast and watch a full episode.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Right. We are the first platform to give.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Strippers a voice, not sit there and exploit them, not
- 22:44Speaker 1: sit there and say shake that ass bitch and want
- 22:46Speaker 1: to get in that pussy.
- 22:47Speaker 3: No.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:49Speaker 1: The turn up is a byproduct of our lifestyle. So
- 22:53Speaker 1: what we do in our podcast is we turn up, party,
- 22:56Speaker 1: have a good.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Time, get everybody comfortable. Then we stop, get the girls
- 22:59Speaker 4: on the couch.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Podcast Time, podcast Time, talk it out When we're ready
- 23:04Speaker 1: to switch the seat back to the music.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Everybody's having a good time. Next person on the couch.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Well, it's a really I would say this. It is
- 23:11Speaker 3: extremely original. And because I was saying I was telling
- 23:14Speaker 3: this to my boy Eric, I'm like, man, like, these
- 23:17Speaker 3: dudes are doing something I never seen done.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 3: But because even just like when you hit play, like
- 23:22Speaker 3: imagine if like I was like, yo, this is some
- 23:24Speaker 3: ship you could just have on at the crib.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Bro. My friends are telling me they are over there
- 23:28Speaker 4: busting down trees and breaking weed up for all these
- 23:31Speaker 4: what do they call it trimming or whatever, And these
- 23:33Speaker 4: guys are just watching it.
- 23:34Speaker 1: They're at work and they're just watching it. It's just
- 23:36Speaker 1: something to put on. You could just listen to it.
- 23:38Speaker 2: The music selection is already fired. Like you know, you
- 23:41Speaker 2: need ox cord in the and the you have your homies,
- 23:43Speaker 2: you got to kick back. You can just throw on
- 23:44Speaker 2: the mix in the podcast.
- 23:46Speaker 4: A lot of people get a lot of people got
- 23:48Speaker 4: lost in the ass.
- 23:49Speaker 1: But what they don't realize is that these same girls
- 23:53Speaker 1: are with us for six months straight.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Every Monday, every Monday. So we have a team.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I got eleven girls that got the podcast tatted on them.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I saw online. I just saw that. I just saw
- 24:05Speaker 3: somebody had that. I was like, yo, check that out.
- 24:06Speaker 1: On live shoot. Eleven girls on live shoot got tatted.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And so my thing is is that it's.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Like a road trip.
- 24:13Speaker 1: You ever been on a road trip with somebody, like
- 24:14Speaker 1: a long one and somebody who didn't know that Well,
- 24:17Speaker 1: by the end of the road trip, you're like, I
- 24:19Speaker 1: kind of know this guy, and I know why I
- 24:21Speaker 1: fuck with him, and I know why I don't fuck
- 24:22Speaker 1: with him. Right, And so the six months was a
- 24:24Speaker 1: long ass road trip with these girls, and so nobody
- 24:28Speaker 1: was rushing to fuck these girls. We just took time
- 24:30Speaker 1: to get to know We took time to get.
- 24:32Speaker 4: To know them.
- 24:33Speaker 3: That's the problem most time people bring strippers around because
- 24:35Speaker 3: eventually you want to try to fuck.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 1: But but but but my thing is they're on the
- 24:38Speaker 1: couch saying thank you. Nobody's ever just hurt us out,
- 24:42Speaker 1: nobody's ever tried to figure us out.
- 24:43Speaker 3: They just stripper's getting really bad misrepresentation.
- 24:47Speaker 1: But one thing I realized in doing the pod was
- 24:50Speaker 1: that stripping is just like working at Starbucks.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I agree fully, It's.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Just like they don't give a fuck about you.
- 24:56Speaker 3: It's a literal job.
- 24:57Speaker 4: It's a literal job. That's what I do.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Your job is to kind of be your counselor or
- 25:03Speaker 3: make you feel like they like you. That is their
- 25:06Speaker 3: literal profession. My job is to make you feel like
- 25:09Speaker 3: I like you. And if you feel that way, you're
- 25:12Speaker 3: gonna give me some money. Then you're gonna go home
- 25:15Speaker 3: to your wife, and then I'm gonna get off of
- 25:16Speaker 3: work and go home to my boyfriend or my kids
- 25:18Speaker 3: or whatever. Yes, it is what it is. Yeah, they're
- 25:22Speaker 3: they're half naked counselors or naked counselors.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And so a lot of some of the girls, like
- 25:26Speaker 1: we went from the stripper thing, and then other girls
- 25:29Speaker 1: started catching wind of it, and then we brought in
- 25:31Speaker 1: some three or fours that are actually on fig and
- 25:33Speaker 1: ship like that. They're coming in and telling their story,
- 25:36Speaker 1: so it gets deep. There was one girl that was
- 25:38Speaker 1: off the block was like, damn, is this church or
- 25:40Speaker 1: a podcast?
- 25:41Speaker 4: Like, what the fuck's going on? We have deep conversation
- 25:44Speaker 4: on there, but you got to get past the ass. Yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 4: you gotta get past the ass.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I was like, I said, I love the presentation and
- 25:50Speaker 3: I really just like the it's hard to see originality.
- 25:55Speaker 4: So to me, it was like, so do you agree
- 25:57Speaker 4: with my grade or no?
- 25:59Speaker 3: From what you say for yourself.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Like, is there something that you've seen that you disagreed
- 26:04Speaker 1: with as far as content, as far as impact, as
- 26:07Speaker 1: far as branding, consistency, topics.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Okay, this is what I would say, there's something you
- 26:11Speaker 3: don't know about. I'm very like I said, I kind
- 26:14Speaker 3: of skimmed through your ship. I think I like your branding,
- 26:21Speaker 3: I like the originality, great production value, you're building community.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I don't know much about the topics because I haven't
- 26:32Speaker 3: really seen too much to give you that. I mean, look,
- 26:35Speaker 3: this is your fucking report card. Be honest, Be honest,
- 26:41Speaker 3: because because I would say maybe impact would be high,
- 26:48Speaker 3: Why would you say that, I think just because like
- 26:51Speaker 3: when I think of impact, I think of I think
- 26:54Speaker 3: of homegrown radio, like I think of like, you know.
- 26:57Speaker 4: What does that mean? What does that mean?
- 26:59Speaker 3: So in my opinion, an impact to me would be
- 27:01Speaker 3: like the impact on either an artist trajectory. Right, so
- 27:07Speaker 3: if you're helping like break artists and like you can
- 27:10Speaker 3: go back and like see, well shit, you know when
- 27:14Speaker 3: I think DJ had and Chuck did a Kendrick interview
- 27:17Speaker 3: and like, you know, I mean I had one in
- 27:18Speaker 3: twenty eleven. I think they had one in twenty ten.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I think impact is I maybe look at that as
- 27:24Speaker 3: more of like a longevity.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Like did I make somebody lives? Like for me?
- 27:30Speaker 3: For me impact, I think you've had impact on people
- 27:33Speaker 3: who are on your show, right, these girls, and like
- 27:36Speaker 3: maybe changing like the narrative on strippers and shit. But
- 27:38Speaker 3: again I'm speaking from not the most Yeah, you know,
- 27:41Speaker 3: I think impact to me though, is like like if
- 27:44Speaker 3: I were to look at this.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Hey, let me ask you this. Let me ask you this.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Have you ever has anybody ever cried on this show?
- 27:49Speaker 4: Like tears? Yes? How many people have cried on this show?
- 27:58Speaker 3: One? So so to me that's different because to me,
- 28:02Speaker 3: that to me, that's topics.
- 28:03Speaker 4: No, that's not topics, because topics because when I'm thinking
- 28:06Speaker 4: of impacting somebody's life. Yesterday we brought in an artists
- 28:09Speaker 4: because we do music reviews on Wednesdays.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Right, this artist sent this music in, we did a review,
- 28:13Speaker 1: we liked it, so we brought him in the studio
- 28:15Speaker 1: yesterday we played his music because we fucked with it.
- 28:18Speaker 4: We brought him in. We're playing this stuff. What do
- 28:20Speaker 4: he tell you. On the couch yesterday while we're playing stuff.
- 28:21Speaker 2: He was like, this is getting a little emotional right now,
- 28:23Speaker 2: Like y'all really like genuine.
- 28:26Speaker 3: And so I think that's like to me, like, when
- 28:28Speaker 3: I think of impact, I think of like, Okay, if
- 28:32Speaker 3: we're talking about like LA culture, right, what are the
- 28:36Speaker 3: what are the synonymous platforms that have been here the longest? Right?
- 28:40Speaker 3: So to me, when I think of like a homegrown radio,
- 28:43Speaker 3: I'm like, well, shit, homegrown has an impact that has
- 28:49Speaker 3: been here for so long and they've done so much
- 28:52Speaker 3: to help you know, they've they have moments in like
- 28:55Speaker 3: la hip hop history that they've.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Is there any clips of anybody's and.
- 29:00Speaker 3: I would y'all know this. I'm looking at this strictly
- 29:02Speaker 3: through a hip hop lens.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So that's the time thing you're saying that's based on
- 29:06Speaker 2: like how long they've been around.
- 29:07Speaker 4: See, but see this isn't this isn't just off of
- 29:10Speaker 4: hip hop because.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So so I'm looking at this, I'm looking at this
- 29:13Speaker 3: because I'm a hip hop guy. You know, I'm hip
- 29:15Speaker 3: hop too, So so when I look at this, I'm
- 29:17Speaker 3: thinking of.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Forty four vo through doesn't he covers other stuff?
- 29:20Speaker 3: News and right stuff. But so when I look at this,
- 29:23Speaker 3: I'm i mean, listen, show some love.
- 29:24Speaker 1: That's what's your name, Telly Spencer. It's a love podcast.
- 29:28Speaker 1: It doesn't have anything to.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Do with I'm not hip. But what I was going
- 29:31Speaker 3: to say was like, I mean, look, because I'm thinking
- 29:33Speaker 3: of this as like the La Rapper report card that
- 29:35Speaker 3: kind of the same way. So I'm like, when I
- 29:37Speaker 3: think of impact, I think of like I'm looking at
- 29:39Speaker 3: impact through a hip hop lens. Now, the impact you
- 29:41Speaker 3: might have on your guests is different, right, So I'll
- 29:45Speaker 3: give you that, Like that's if that's the lens you're
- 29:49Speaker 3: looking at it through, Like then yeah, I mean if
- 29:51Speaker 3: you have people crying and you're changing people's lives and
- 29:55Speaker 3: and then I'm like, I look down and I'm trying
- 29:57Speaker 3: to see who else had low impact just so I
- 30:00Speaker 3: could have some sort of So like, let me give
- 30:03Speaker 3: you an example, right, the category of impact when I
- 30:10Speaker 3: see No Jumpers got a seven, but I see the
- 30:13Speaker 3: impact of No Jumper created two of the B and
- 30:17Speaker 3: B plus platforms on this. So if you think about
- 30:21Speaker 3: No Jumper from No Jumper back on figuring community were born,
- 30:24Speaker 3: is that is that a safe thing to say? Because
- 30:27Speaker 3: neither of them would have been doing content. I mean,
- 30:29Speaker 3: they'll tell you so. To me, that's that's a big
- 30:35Speaker 3: impact because if no Jumper, yeah, but I think yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 3: but I guess it just depends on the lens you're
- 30:41Speaker 3: looking at each one of these things.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So for impact, for me, I feel like the no
- 30:45Speaker 1: Jumper category, I feel like they were high.
- 30:48Speaker 4: But with this is a recent this is recent.
- 30:52Speaker 1: This isn't based off of past things that happen a
- 30:56Speaker 1: year ago or six months ago or whatever.
- 30:57Speaker 4: This is today, right, And so with.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Everything falling apart like not his he did a whole
- 31:03Speaker 1: orgy on his Uh.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I saw that thing.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So I mean it's not like his platform is hurting.
- 31:08Speaker 1: He's impact, he's elsewhere, right, It's still successful, But as
- 31:11Speaker 1: far as culturally what everybody went there for, it lost
- 31:15Speaker 1: a lot of points because it's.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Not what it's for sure, it's not what he used
- 31:17Speaker 4: to it's not what it used to be at all.
- 31:18Speaker 3: It's not but not hurting. I'm not saying it's not
- 31:21Speaker 3: what he used to be size wise, I'm saying it's
- 31:22Speaker 3: not what he used to be in terms of what
- 31:23Speaker 3: people expect to gif.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he switched.
- 31:26Speaker 3: He switched go to No jumpery to find out about
- 31:29Speaker 3: the hot soundclud rappers. Now you go to No jumper
- 31:31Speaker 3: just for you know whatever, what what do you go
- 31:33Speaker 3: there for? I just like to hear him in whack talk.
- 31:39Speaker 3: I think rosecrans Vic and those guys have had some
- 31:42Speaker 3: You got him at a nine on impact because I
- 31:44Speaker 3: think rosecrans have has done a lot to help push
- 31:46Speaker 3: the LA hip hop culture.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And and uh, just to speak on Rosecrans, he's he
- 31:52Speaker 1: does a lot of footwork.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Oh for sure, footwork is there not just it's active bro.
- 31:57Speaker 3: And he's on this twice because he's a part of
- 31:59Speaker 3: brown Band.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And and the thing about it is what I respect
- 32:01Speaker 1: about Rosecrans. I'd be out at these events and he
- 32:05Speaker 1: had not only is he there, but he has a
- 32:07Speaker 1: team of people out there doing media for his brand.
- 32:10Speaker 1: So it's bigger than like you get me. There's a
- 32:13Speaker 1: lot of people that that are missing on the word.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Rose is great. He's a great, definitely, and he's a
- 32:17Speaker 3: part of brown Bag, which is one of my favorite platforms.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it just gets kind of iffy with me when
- 32:23Speaker 1: you start breaking up the brands.
- 32:25Speaker 3: So let me ask you this, what is uh Okay,
- 32:28Speaker 3: you have an F on here. Two f's d oh
- 32:33Speaker 3: you got ox connect clap it up l A and
- 32:36Speaker 3: uh day in l A.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Yeah do you do?
- 32:39Speaker 1: You?
- 32:41Speaker 3: Is it because y'all got beef with these guys? Or you? Truly?
- 32:43Speaker 1: I got no beef with nobody in this world. I
- 32:46Speaker 1: go to bed every night with like happy.
- 32:49Speaker 3: From the Suburbs. I don't beef, we don't are you
- 32:52Speaker 3: from from the Rancho trying to Rancha cuckamonga.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Also tell them going crazy. I see the quarterback for
- 32:59Speaker 2: the text play the ballad as my boys.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I hope he's terrible this year because we own the
- 33:04Speaker 3: first round pick for the Texans. I'm a Cardinals. I'm
- 33:07Speaker 3: a Cardinal. I mean, look, I think this is dope.
- 33:10Speaker 3: I think it's there's no there's no beef. I say
- 33:13Speaker 3: this too. The one cool thing about this is it
- 33:16Speaker 3: went viral and for whatever reason, everybody on this list
- 33:20Speaker 3: got new exposure.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Straight up.
- 33:23Speaker 3: So even if you are somebody like, uh, you know
- 33:27Speaker 3: the biggest bros. I got to check them out because
- 33:29Speaker 3: I've never heard of it.
- 33:30Speaker 1: The biggest bros is uh, uh what is it? House
- 33:33Speaker 1: phone and Blasi? Oh that's them them, that's their that's
- 33:36Speaker 1: their platform.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I've seen their and uri and them Yeah. Okay, okay,
- 33:41Speaker 3: so yeah I didn't. I didn't realize that. See.
- 33:43Speaker 1: And the crazy part about these other like biggest bros,
- 33:46Speaker 1: hold fashions and the community and all that.
- 33:48Speaker 3: I felt like, then, well then for real, then No
- 33:50Speaker 3: Jumper has three platforms on here that spawned from.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but but these smaller platforms. I feel like when
- 33:57Speaker 1: they left No Jumper they had to figure it out
- 33:59Speaker 1: on their Yeah, for sure, tell me, like, prior to
- 34:03Speaker 1: them leaving No Jumper, it was just showing up and talk.
- 34:06Speaker 3: I do love I mean, I mean back on Figure
- 34:09Speaker 3: is one of my favorite ships to watch. I love Crail. Uh.
- 34:13Speaker 4: I don't know the other guy's name, but he has
- 34:16Speaker 4: a really good personality.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Macwop.
- 34:19Speaker 4: He's in the little room. Is the older dude in
- 34:21Speaker 4: the little room. He's with the computer. They have the
- 34:24Speaker 4: strippers in there too.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Wait on what what platform on the Uh? Yeah, I
- 34:34Speaker 5: don't know his name, Ace Boys So that's puny puns
- 34:38Speaker 5: like the older dude.
- 34:40Speaker 4: His personality is amazing puns great.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's got the they got the yam cam going.
- 34:45Speaker 3: They always got chicks pulling. So you guys have that
- 34:49Speaker 3: in common whole fashion shouts to Gina. Uh yeah, I
- 34:52Speaker 3: think at the end of the day, there's no way
- 34:54Speaker 3: you're gonna do this list and not offend somebody.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think I think what uh just like, yeah,
- 34:59Speaker 4: it's just there's just no way. Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 3: But everybody thinks they deserve an A plus.
- 35:03Speaker 4: True, But.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Every one of these podcasts. What they do on their
- 35:09Speaker 1: podcast is talk about other people. This is the first
- 35:13Speaker 1: time anybody's ever talked about podcasts.
- 35:15Speaker 4: In a group. And that's what's offensive by it. But
- 35:18Speaker 4: you can be offended by it if you.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Do it every day right about all these other artists
- 35:22Speaker 1: and everything going on. My thing is I just like
- 35:25Speaker 1: to do things that nobody's doing. I got tired of
- 35:28Speaker 1: just covering artists because there's enough people that do that.
- 35:30Speaker 4: You get me.
- 35:30Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to the artists and they're gonna be
- 35:32Speaker 1: part of what we're doing. But I'm gonna do things
- 35:35Speaker 1: that people aren't doing. And when everybody's going left, we're
- 35:38Speaker 1: gonna go right, and everybody's going right, we're gonna go left.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Yep.
- 35:41Speaker 4: And this is what this is. I just put the
- 35:43Speaker 4: spotlight on them.
- 35:44Speaker 3: You don't think it's bad.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Do you think do you agree that we should be
- 35:47Speaker 2: keeping like how Dejon had the artist's report card, the
- 35:50Speaker 2: whole goals to make West Coast music. You're gonna get
- 35:52Speaker 2: everybody to get better, just like the platforms that are
- 35:55Speaker 2: covering these artists. The platforms need to get these artists
- 35:57Speaker 2: and cover them and so we can get you know,
- 36:00Speaker 2: back up.
- 36:00Speaker 3: And you don't think.
- 36:01Speaker 2: It's wrong to hold these platforms accountable, just like we
- 36:04Speaker 2: hold these artists accountable.
- 36:05Speaker 3: I don't even think you're holding them accountable. I just
- 36:07Speaker 3: think this is a cool idea.
- 36:08Speaker 2: It's like we're owning them accountable, so I'm better get better.
- 36:12Speaker 1: You know why, because I put so much time and
- 36:14Speaker 1: effort into what we do, and I feel like there's
- 36:18Speaker 1: these artists that are blinded by just going and getting
- 36:21Speaker 1: content that they don't give a fuck how it looks right.
- 36:23Speaker 4: They're just like, all right, give me a mic. I
- 36:25Speaker 4: need a camera and I need to look like I'm
- 36:26Speaker 4: getting interviewed. And people that go get interviewed, they don't
- 36:30Speaker 4: keep these people accountable at all.
- 36:31Speaker 3: To me, when you dive into like the specific categories,
- 36:35Speaker 3: like you know, like the corner store guy, like you
- 36:37Speaker 3: got a tan inconsistency, branding, originality, and impact. Like that's dope.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Now he's got to see plus. But that's because you
- 36:44Speaker 3: know of stuff that you're like you said, like.
- 36:46Speaker 4: He just needs to talk more. He just needs to
- 36:48Speaker 4: have a small interview part.
- 36:49Speaker 3: To me, it's not even like a bad thing.
- 36:51Speaker 4: It's not a bad thing, no, because his show isn't.
- 36:53Speaker 3: That Yeah, and then I just know that like the
- 36:58Speaker 3: the Dejon kid, I see the report card had a
- 37:01Speaker 3: lot of impact. You gave him at ten to that
- 37:02Speaker 3: because he made yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 1: He got he got hip hop mad over here on inside.
- 37:08Speaker 1: He impacted a lot of people's lives. He made people feel.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I think when I think about impact, I think about
- 37:14Speaker 1: feeling right. You can feel good or you can feel
- 37:17Speaker 1: bad about me, you feel me, But as long as
- 37:20Speaker 1: you can make people feel that's what this is all for.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Everybody has an opinion, but can you make somebody feel?
- 37:25Speaker 4: Right now? This thing made people feel and so for.
- 37:28Speaker 3: That and you guys have ran into with this what
- 37:32Speaker 3: do you mean negatives? Just like anything negative like that.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Maybe you were like maybe I burned a bridge or
- 37:38Speaker 3: like I have.
- 37:39Speaker 4: People on my team say, hey, bro, we might burn
- 37:41Speaker 4: a bridge.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Fuck the bridge let's build a boat, let's fucking go
- 37:45Speaker 1: like you know what I mean?
- 37:47Speaker 4: Yeah, no, no, no, real shit, because at the end
- 37:49Speaker 4: of the day, if these people, if these people were
- 37:51Speaker 4: gonna fuck with me, they would have fuck with me.
- 37:53Speaker 4: I'm not worried about anybody giving me a handout. I'm
- 37:56Speaker 4: not worried about anybody opening a door. I'm living life
- 37:59Speaker 4: and I'm cooking.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I'm in here just cooking, and you guys are just
- 38:02Speaker 1: getting to watch the artwork.
- 38:03Speaker 4: You get me, So I don't.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Really this world is so big, this world is ginormous,
- 38:08Speaker 1: and I don't have to worry about who's fucking with
- 38:10Speaker 1: me and who's not.
- 38:11Speaker 4: I'm just here cooking. That's all we really do.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Am I mad at like when I look at the
- 38:16Speaker 3: like actual like categories, you know, because I'm a fan
- 38:19Speaker 3: of Gina. Yeah, so you gave her a ten as
- 38:21Speaker 3: of personality, It's like, yeah, that's that says you're great.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Yeah, her personality is amazing, But I feel like.
- 38:28Speaker 3: She's could the consistency be better?
- 38:30Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, the consistency, but it's not just that.
- 38:32Speaker 1: It's like she's with Sway and then she's with No Jumper,
- 38:36Speaker 1: and then she's.
- 38:36Speaker 3: With old Feshions. I think is her own show.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, offessially own ship.
- 38:40Speaker 1: But what I'm saying there's no like like brand around,
- 38:44Speaker 1: like she's biding the brand now, but the brand is
- 38:47Speaker 1: is her name.
- 38:47Speaker 4: It's not an actual.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Like right ohle Feshion Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, look, man,
- 38:53Speaker 3: I appreciate the love on here. I think it's interesting
- 38:57Speaker 3: because I think, like you said, like you get people
- 39:00Speaker 3: talking and to me, there's something to do on the Internet,
- 39:04Speaker 3: and if somebody is like really offended by it, it's like, hey, man,
- 39:08Speaker 3: like one, this is your opinion. Two, you know, maybe improve.
- 39:16Speaker 1: And just like just like motion Mondays with the strippers
- 39:20Speaker 1: was advertisement and marketing, this is the same ship. Yeah,
- 39:24Speaker 1: it's the same ship. The difference is we're doing it
- 39:26Speaker 1: with style. We're making fashion out of it.
- 39:29Speaker 3: You got to show the comments too.
- 39:31Speaker 2: People were saying the Internet is not real life, but
- 39:33Speaker 2: this looks pretty real to me. With the bombs on
- 39:36Speaker 2: the one time.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Let me see who's there, Jesus Christ.
- 39:38Speaker 2: We got uh storm the bards on their oh thank you.
- 39:46Speaker 3: We got the comments on the back.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, because there's love and there's hate, there's booze.
- 39:51Speaker 4: That's document there's awe.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Some people are haters and some people support This is
- 39:57Speaker 3: what I would say. I see the laughs. Okay, yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 3: I saw getting great with my rounds, my Rose Cranspin,
- 40:04Speaker 3: but my bag Brown, that's fire. Yeah. I mean, like
- 40:08Speaker 3: I said, Bro, I think you guys are doing something dope.
- 40:10Speaker 3: I think people like these kind of lists are made
- 40:14Speaker 3: for people to disagree on and you know what I mean.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Well, not to disagree. This is a spark conversation.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Spark conversation, So however you feel about it, it should
- 40:25Speaker 3: spark some conversation.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Do you think it's a conversation that needs to happen though,
- 40:29Speaker 2: I mean.
- 40:30Speaker 3: I think that there's people who take this shit extremely serious.
- 40:34Speaker 3: And I think for the most part, all the people
- 40:36Speaker 3: who I'm extremely educated about on this list do take
- 40:38Speaker 3: it very serious. So yeah, maybe because like at the
- 40:41Speaker 3: end of the day, like you know, like.
- 40:43Speaker 1: You know, how many people start podcasts every week or
- 40:46Speaker 1: every day, and these people watch these platforms.
- 40:49Speaker 4: And they do this, Oh I need to do it
- 40:51Speaker 4: like no Jumper, or I need to do it like
- 40:53Speaker 4: bulet kV or I need to do it like this.
- 40:55Speaker 4: And so my thing is, if we're coming in this
- 40:57Speaker 4: game and we're taking it dead ass serious and we're
- 40:59Speaker 4: trying to be hottest in the game, and we're trying
- 41:01Speaker 4: to do all this ship. I'm move more like an
- 41:03Speaker 4: artist than a podcaster.
- 41:04Speaker 3: And like this is a great way to promote your ship. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 3: straight up, because now everybody's got to go check your
- 41:10Speaker 3: shit out.
- 41:10Speaker 1: But but that's what I'm saying, Like we're coming in
- 41:13Speaker 1: the culture not to change it, because it's going to
- 41:15Speaker 1: change on its own, but we're coming to shift it
- 41:17Speaker 1: and tilted to where we want it to be. And
- 41:20Speaker 1: the way we're doing it is by telling people what
- 41:22Speaker 1: we fuck with and what we don't and just by
- 41:25Speaker 1: us moving out there creating content.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Uh, you know all.
- 41:29Speaker 1: This ship we just we just did a mansion party.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Uh and the ie and the moment we showed up,
- 41:35Speaker 1: the people were expecting us. Oh ship lead podcast in
- 41:38Speaker 1: the buildings podcast as went from zero to one hundred quick.
- 41:41Speaker 1: When we go in a room that's impact, We changed
- 41:45Speaker 1: like this.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Do you think impact? Also, because there's there's a couple
- 41:51Speaker 3: of ways look at impact. I'm looking at impact through
- 41:53Speaker 3: the lens already told you. Another way to look at
- 41:55Speaker 3: impact is how does your content impact viewers?
- 42:01Speaker 2: It impacts viewers because, for one, we're getting into real life.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I say that because I saw what Watchabi Kwan said. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 3: so so, but here you see something like that.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Are you talking about the whole black people are making you?
- 42:12Speaker 3: I think I just saw what he said that like
- 42:14Speaker 3: uh he in regards to the Clapping Up podcast, he
- 42:18Speaker 3: has said something like your shit is like mant for
- 42:20Speaker 3: people to like. I don't want to put words in
- 42:23Speaker 3: his mouth, but essentially, you guys are doing parties and
- 42:27Speaker 3: there's no substance.
- 42:28Speaker 2: But if you actually watch it, there is substance. There's
- 42:32Speaker 2: a video that was posted with him coming on the
- 42:34Speaker 2: podcast and saying substance talking about God.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Watching Kwan, Yes, okay, he went on your guys this podcast.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I had him on a year ago.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I mean I think it's dope, man. I think you
- 42:44Speaker 3: guys you know are I'll say this innovative man because
- 42:47Speaker 3: I've never seen anybody.
- 42:48Speaker 1: And it's crazy because there's people that, like I say,
- 42:51Speaker 1: with this, you know, you want to know what this did.
- 42:54Speaker 1: We're in La, We're at all these events, we go
- 42:56Speaker 1: to the pop ups, we're at the Sali store. He's
- 42:58Speaker 1: spinning out of Sally for are all the pop ups
- 43:00Speaker 1: that happened over there, all that ship. So we're active,
- 43:02Speaker 1: We're out there in.
- 43:03Speaker 4: The streets doing the footwork. People that I thought fucked
- 43:06Speaker 4: with me. This exposed a lot of people that don't
- 43:09Speaker 4: fuck with me, and it helped me out because it
- 43:11Speaker 4: helped me cut the bullshit because we're shaking hands everybody.
- 43:14Speaker 4: What what's what?
- 43:15Speaker 2: We're exposing the real and all these people even when
- 43:17Speaker 2: they come on the couch, they like this on the internet,
- 43:19Speaker 2: but in real life not like that.
- 43:20Speaker 3: So you're who would you guys say? I saw a
- 43:23Speaker 3: MBJ commented but Roochie, you guys fuck with Ruchie obviously. Uh,
- 43:28Speaker 3: who would you guys say? Is like your guys is like,
- 43:32Speaker 3: you know, closest homie in the rap game when it
- 43:34Speaker 3: comes to like like supporting, Like who's your guys biggest supporter?
- 43:36Speaker 2: When we got YB in the mer Kay Beans, DBI
- 43:39Speaker 2: bought a bag, True car Radio bass O g Maco.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I mean there still lives in Riverside right Uh Riverside?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Naim, we got a show coming up.
- 43:53Speaker 4: So yeah, like right now, like DJ, you know you
- 43:56Speaker 4: know your DJ?
- 43:57Speaker 3: You know, did you do my club in Scott Steele?
- 43:59Speaker 2: I did eleven hours looking forward to meeting you, and
- 44:01Speaker 2: you weren't there. Yeah, you know scumming, uh no, scum
- 44:07Speaker 2: beats he pro produced, blue face.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Producers and scum tell owner loaded up. You know, never
- 44:13Speaker 4: heard you never.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Heard of scum beats.
- 44:14Speaker 3: I heard I heard that tag butt.
- 44:18Speaker 1: So these are these are big producers in the game
- 44:20Speaker 1: right now, their blue faces like main producers right now,
- 44:23Speaker 1: right These dudes that are coming around right now, like
- 44:27Speaker 1: they're tucked and we got them popping out right now.
- 44:30Speaker 1: These artists are are in my dms right now, fucking what.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It's heavy right now because they see the motion and
- 44:35Speaker 1: what we're doing. And so we went from chasing to attracting.
- 44:39Speaker 1: And my thing is, I'd rather be an artist, homie,
- 44:42Speaker 1: than just send out a thousand d ms.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Hey, bro, try to come on my show.
- 44:47Speaker 1: The content is speaking and they're fucking what it's because
- 44:49Speaker 1: we're all come to you. Yeah yeah, yea based upon
- 44:52Speaker 1: what we put out. So I stopped chasing, I started attracting.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And it's different, way different.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Man.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Hey, look man, I think you guys are attracting a
- 44:59Speaker 3: lot of attention with this.
- 45:00Speaker 2: We're basically just showing the culture like and then if
- 45:02Speaker 2: you look at everybody that's on the show. It's not
- 45:04Speaker 2: just random people. We do music reviews, people sending music
- 45:07Speaker 2: every wind.
- 45:08Speaker 3: How many times a week are you guys?
- 45:09Speaker 4: Twice a week?
- 45:11Speaker 2: People send the music, people send the music.
- 45:13Speaker 3: We got DJs, engineers.
- 45:14Speaker 2: We have people that come on and we actually give
- 45:16Speaker 2: an actual opinion and not just get an opinion. We
- 45:18Speaker 2: tell him critique, how to get better and what to do.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Since we're DJs. If we like the song, we invite
- 45:22Speaker 2: him on the couch like TV bag Party. He was
- 45:26Speaker 2: the first Golden buzzer we invited him on. Now his
- 45:28Speaker 2: song is going super crazy.
- 45:29Speaker 3: He's seen that.
- 45:32Speaker 4: No, we were just with at the club. Yeah, he
- 45:34Speaker 4: about to come on. He coming produced for him too.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I feel like Vader's got like a wave going
- 45:41Speaker 3: like his sound is like Yeah, it's kind of like
- 45:43Speaker 3: if you go to LA He's the guy who you
- 45:45Speaker 3: will hear his ship.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I'll be wondering how he'd be having
- 45:47Speaker 2: all those samples and I don't.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Know if he's clearing them.
- 45:49Speaker 4: There's no way like the City, we had that whole
- 45:53Speaker 4: dialogue on the show. But he's coming.
- 45:55Speaker 3: He's not clear, but good for him. He's gonna get
- 45:59Speaker 3: that kid check as long as he can until they
- 46:02Speaker 3: come through and they're.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Like, hey, But so when we talk about impact though,
- 46:04Speaker 2: like when we're going out to all these events and
- 46:06Speaker 2: talking to the artists, because there's been artists that have
- 46:09Speaker 2: we've tried to get him on the show, but they've
- 46:11Speaker 2: said all we charge, and we've pulled up to them
- 46:13Speaker 2: in person.
- 46:13Speaker 3: This is what I would say if anybody tells me
- 46:17Speaker 3: I've only had one person try to charge me to
- 46:18Speaker 3: do an interview. Actually I take that back too. One
- 46:21Speaker 3: of them was Krick Mack and it was five hundred
- 46:22Speaker 3: dollars and I was like, you know what, I paid
- 46:24Speaker 3: five hundred dollars just to hang out with krit Mac
- 46:26Speaker 3: and record it. Whatever we didn't. We haven't done anything yet.
- 46:30Speaker 3: The other one was bandman Kevo try to charge me
- 46:34Speaker 3: ten grand and I just said, lol, out pass And
- 46:38Speaker 3: then it has his people reach out trying to get
- 46:40Speaker 3: bottles at my club last week because he was in Arizona.
- 46:42Speaker 3: I'm like, but you got me fucked up, bro, you bottles.
- 46:48Speaker 3: But when I say so, like, that's.
- 46:49Speaker 4: A couple of people that try to charge two But
- 46:51Speaker 4: those people I felt like, so I think.
- 46:53Speaker 3: You guys pretty much are spot on because when I
- 46:55Speaker 3: see impact, I'm like, okay to me, I think of
- 46:58Speaker 3: like DJ head go and sits in the studio with
- 47:01Speaker 3: these artists and helps like Big Bank from my g
- 47:05Speaker 3: I'm not sure that song comes out without DJ Head, Like.
- 47:08Speaker 4: But that's not a podcast. That's DJ head on his own,
- 47:11Speaker 4: but DJ Head on his own, it's not it's not.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Fair a podcast, that's fair.
- 47:17Speaker 4: They have different accolades, and I think being spread out,
- 47:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:19Speaker 3: If that's like you said, and that's like where the
- 47:21Speaker 3: brands are kind of spread Chuck. Sometimes it does interviews
- 47:23Speaker 3: on his own at the radio stay so I get to.
- 47:26Speaker 2: I just like saying, me and j are in the
- 47:27Speaker 2: studio with like blue Face and making records with all
- 47:29Speaker 2: these artists, so.
- 47:30Speaker 4: The podcast has more.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, I mean I think you guys
- 47:35Speaker 3: got a lot of this ship. But again I am not.
- 47:40Speaker 3: I don't want to sit here and be like you
- 47:41Speaker 3: guys are right because I'm not hipped to a lot
- 47:43Speaker 3: of this ship. Like don't domind do you say this
- 47:45Speaker 3: from Most No?
- 47:46Speaker 4: No, no, but what I'm saying from yeah, from Most County,
- 47:48Speaker 4: But from what you do know it's fair from the
- 47:51Speaker 4: things you do.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I mean I would probably personally. The
- 47:56Speaker 3: only thing I would probably change on here if I
- 47:59Speaker 3: had it ain't something I think that the day in
- 48:05Speaker 3: La dude probably deserves a little. I feel like he's
- 48:09Speaker 3: extremely he feels even though I don't agree with most
- 48:12Speaker 3: of the things that he says, like what he's just
- 48:16Speaker 3: approached to radio and like he's honestly beefing with Head
- 48:20Speaker 3: so headed. He says some shit about Head that's crazy,
- 48:23Speaker 3: which you.
- 48:24Speaker 4: Know, that's your boy, that's.
- 48:27Speaker 3: Like the most selfless motherfucker alive, and he's been pushing
- 48:30Speaker 3: this l a line for I don't know, but.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I heard from what I heard, Head be biased with
- 48:35Speaker 1: some people. Though, Yeah, from I heard like he's kind
- 48:37Speaker 1: of a gatekeeper.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Why do you think that is I mean bias.
- 48:41Speaker 3: I wouldn't say Head's biased. I think no, why do
- 48:44Speaker 3: you think? Okay? You and the radio too?
- 48:46Speaker 2: Why are you guysies every day?
- 48:49Speaker 3: So okay?
- 48:50Speaker 2: But why do you do you ever like reach out
- 48:53Speaker 2: to other upcoming artists like the whole West Coast scene, Like.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, I'm trying to get dB to come
- 48:58Speaker 3: DV by the back I've been trying to get him
- 48:59Speaker 3: on the show for like six months.
- 49:00Speaker 2: So let me ask you, what do you think is
- 49:01Speaker 2: wrong trying to get him?
- 49:03Speaker 1: Russ had Russ has us on his tour. He's stopping
- 49:07Speaker 1: buy in l A. He's putting us on the media pass.
- 49:09Speaker 1: We're going to be the only media platform covering that
- 49:11Speaker 1: tour when he's in LA. Yeah, he's covered. We're doing
- 49:15Speaker 1: his release party, so we're gonna be covering.
- 49:16Speaker 4: The release party.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I mean, I think and Russ has and Russ has
- 49:20Speaker 1: him pulling up to our podcast as one as the
- 49:22Speaker 1: stops wall.
- 49:24Speaker 3: I think it's going to be a if you're going
- 49:28Speaker 3: to be a platform that I think it should be
- 49:30Speaker 3: kind of like your duty to try to help up
- 49:32Speaker 3: and coming artists. So if you watch my ship, you'll
- 49:35Speaker 3: notice I'll have artists that not a lot of people know,
- 49:38Speaker 3: but I just happen to think they're dope. And then
- 49:40Speaker 3: I'll have artists everybody knows.
- 49:42Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like, you know, for me, it's like part
- 49:45Speaker 6: of what I'm I think that's that's the wow factor
- 49:47Speaker 6: because because like I had Destal double on, and when
- 49:50Speaker 6: I had Destal on the internet went crazy.
- 49:52Speaker 1: If my my numbers shut up right, and then right
- 49:55Speaker 1: after that we're bringing regular people on. But it makes
- 49:57Speaker 1: people feel like fuck, I could be a par part
- 50:00Speaker 1: of that too. That's the power and regular people we have.
- 50:04Speaker 3: Like I'm trying to think. I mean, dude, I mean
- 50:10Speaker 3: I tap in with you. I mean, you have the
- 50:11Speaker 3: Russell on the podcast like two and a half years ago,
- 50:14Speaker 3: you know before everybody was like uh on them.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:18Speaker 3: So for me, it's like I'm always just like hey,
- 50:20Speaker 3: if someone's dope and I see what they're doing. Liked that.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Mexico Te's going crazy right now. Him and I had
- 50:25Speaker 3: a moment on the show where I was like, dude,
- 50:26Speaker 3: I DMS you a year and a half ago and
- 50:29Speaker 3: you hit me back. He's like no way, and I'm
- 50:32Speaker 3: like he's like, oh shit, yeah, you know. So for me,
- 50:35Speaker 3: it's like you got to kind of even in here
- 50:37Speaker 3: in La, Like, dude, I've tried to pretty much show
- 50:40Speaker 3: love to everybody I fuck with in La.
- 50:43Speaker 2: So what do you think is the problem out here?
- 50:44Speaker 2: Like just I support a John and were talking about
- 50:47Speaker 2: podcasts the artist right now, why do you think the
- 50:50Speaker 2: West Coast music scene? Because I produce on DJ I
- 50:53Speaker 2: see what do you think? Why are we why are
- 50:55Speaker 2: we not selling out here? Why is it not going
- 50:56Speaker 2: crazy in the West right now?
- 50:58Speaker 3: I would say the following The answer is already there.
- 51:03Speaker 3: If you look at the artists who have word from
- 51:05Speaker 3: LA in the last let's say ten years, right, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy, Q, Roddy, Rich,
- 51:13Speaker 3: Blast Iigu, tid Ale Sign and you can just go
- 51:18Speaker 3: to up and down on this right. None of those
- 51:24Speaker 3: guys music at a certain point in time. Every single
- 51:28Speaker 3: one of those people showed the ability to make records
- 51:31Speaker 3: that were bigger than what is perceived to be the
- 51:35Speaker 3: Los Angeles sound. So if you think about HyG Yg
- 51:42Speaker 3: Tutored and Booted was definitely like a snapshot into the
- 51:47Speaker 3: LA sound at that time. But what really changed YG's
- 51:51Speaker 3: life was My Hita with Gizi and Rich Homi Kwan, right,
- 51:56Speaker 3: because that kind of busted open the whole country for him.
- 51:58Speaker 3: And then what did he do put out one of
- 52:00Speaker 3: the best albums of the last ten years, a classic.
- 52:03Speaker 3: My Crazy Life is like the type of music that
- 52:05Speaker 3: is un deniable. So if you're putting out undeniable levels
- 52:11Speaker 3: of music quality, you could put it in the rafters
- 52:14Speaker 3: next to Good Kid, Mad City and Doggy style and
- 52:17Speaker 3: get Richard I trying. That's the level of music you
- 52:22Speaker 3: need to make.
- 52:23Speaker 2: So you do think artists are making that.
- 52:25Speaker 3: I think that people are making good, good la music.
- 52:28Speaker 2: What do you think about like the whole Silk City
- 52:30Speaker 2: shout out three to one old baby, like that Detroit
- 52:32Speaker 2: West Coast bounce?
- 52:33Speaker 3: I think the Detroit shit. I mean, I think, like
- 52:35Speaker 3: you said, like all that shit is cool. But at
- 52:37Speaker 3: the end of the day, is that shit a snapshot
- 52:40Speaker 3: into what's going on right now? Is it timeless? So
- 52:43Speaker 3: you think that there's your question is is you should
- 52:47Speaker 3: ask yourself because it's why I always tell everybody make
- 52:50Speaker 3: timeless music. Timeless means if you listen to it in
- 52:53Speaker 3: ten years, right, is Lil Vada making timeless music? Probably not?
- 52:59Speaker 3: Is he making it be?
- 53:00Speaker 4: Though? Because it's samples, it might be?
- 53:02Speaker 3: Might be. What I'm saying is making Is he making
- 53:05Speaker 3: hot records for the West Coast to playing the club?
- 53:07Speaker 4: Fuck?
- 53:08Speaker 3: Yeah? But is that ship if you play back in
- 53:10Speaker 3: ten years, fifteen years, or people gonna be like yo,
- 53:12Speaker 3: you like, think about the jerks?
- 53:13Speaker 2: We really don't know. To be honest, I feel like
- 53:15Speaker 2: this generation don't know.
- 53:16Speaker 3: But what I'm saying is this right, Like, timeless music
- 53:19Speaker 3: always prevails for the for the next Uh, Toddy allis
- 53:24Speaker 3: sign makes timeless? Do you think it was for that
- 53:27Speaker 3: time though?
- 53:28Speaker 2: Like, don't you think the kids now that are growing up,
- 53:30Speaker 2: these high schoolers, Like people say, oh, they're making high
- 53:32Speaker 2: school music.
- 53:32Speaker 3: It's just TikTok gimm music at it? You think that shit? Right?
- 53:36Speaker 2: That was an era though it was an era.
- 53:38Speaker 3: But do you hear people playing I'm a Jerk in
- 53:39Speaker 3: the club anymore?
- 53:40Speaker 4: No?
- 53:41Speaker 3: Do you hear people playing Dreams and Nightmares in the club?
- 53:43Speaker 4: Still?
- 53:44Speaker 3: Yes? I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying. Hey,
- 53:46Speaker 3: think about some LA shit balling by Roddy Rich and Mustard.
- 53:52Speaker 3: That record will always be played, even if it's a
- 53:54Speaker 3: part of your opening set. That record is getting played
- 53:57Speaker 3: in the club. That might not get played every night,
- 53:59Speaker 3: but that record is timeless.
- 54:00Speaker 2: When you break that down, what do you think about
- 54:02Speaker 2: a timeless record? Is the production everythat or just the song?
- 54:06Speaker 3: Mean we're talking about I mean, look at I mean,
- 54:07Speaker 3: who's the biggest LA rapper in the last twenty years.
- 54:11Speaker 3: It's Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar is making the highest level
- 54:16Speaker 3: of hip hop. You can make right, Like it's just
- 54:20Speaker 3: it's just like.
- 54:20Speaker 4: A lot of people weren't really fucking with his album.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Whose album you're talking about where he sold out the
- 54:25Speaker 3: Staples Center.
- 54:27Speaker 4: It was just like it was just kind of a
- 54:28Speaker 4: weird album. I mean, I don't think I thought it
- 54:30Speaker 4: was brilliant, Like how often do you listen to that
- 54:33Speaker 4: album a lot?
- 54:34Speaker 3: For first of all, Kendrick Lamar EP is a fucking classic,
- 54:39Speaker 3: all right. So if you think back to when Dre
- 54:43Speaker 3: shouted him out on Big Boys Neighborhood YEP and then
- 54:50Speaker 3: Kendrick dropped that I think it was the watch out
- 54:52Speaker 3: for Dtox Freestyle? Am I wrong? What the fuck was
- 54:54Speaker 3: the name of that ship? I think it was a
- 54:55Speaker 3: watch out for Detox Freestyle. The thing about Kendrick Lamar
- 54:59Speaker 3: is Kendrick Lamar's like maybe the greatest rapper of all time.
- 55:03Speaker 3: So like again we're talking about he's an alien, right,
- 55:08Speaker 3: Like he's an alien, so like you like, he's an
- 55:11Speaker 3: alien talented person who's just making music to live too.
- 55:15Speaker 4: He's not just sitting there rapping in one tone like.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Kendrick uses. His voice is a tool.
- 55:21Speaker 4: I would say, Kendrick to some rappers that find a
- 55:24Speaker 4: formula and they just stick to that on every song,
- 55:26Speaker 4: and you could take it and put it on any
- 55:27Speaker 4: song and it'll work out on your last thing. Yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is with Kendrick, he doesn't have that.
- 55:32Speaker 4: You don't know what he's going to mean.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Kendricks one of the greatest rappers of all time. So
- 55:37Speaker 3: so if you like so, to me, the La dilemma
- 55:39Speaker 3: is our LA artist making a real conscious effort to
- 55:45Speaker 3: make like ship that works, no ship that will be
- 55:49Speaker 3: here forever.
- 55:50Speaker 2: You say, La, do you know II has a ton
- 55:52Speaker 2: of plethora San Diego.
- 55:54Speaker 3: I'm tapped in with all that ship.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I he's fucking honestly, boy, I don't
- 56:00Speaker 4: think artists are thinking that deep into it. I think
- 56:02Speaker 4: a lot of these street artists are just having fun.
- 56:04Speaker 3: We just we just had a cam archer on the
- 56:06Speaker 3: show from San Bernardino. All right, we got to stop
- 56:08Speaker 3: the interview real quick. Tell you about our folks at
- 56:11Speaker 3: my Bookie, our partners at my Bookie.

- 57:38Speaker 3: congratulations to Phoenix, Arizona's own Sugar Sean for just winning
- 57:42Speaker 3: that title with UFC they did to collab with them.
- 57:45Speaker 3: These are the Sugar Punch Pney Orange pre rolls, which
- 57:49Speaker 3: are gas. All right, now, this was sob about King
- 57:52Speaker 3: Pom one organic All right, we're talking about no tobacco,
- 57:58Speaker 3: organic leaves. And what's dope is they have these turping

- 58:04Speaker 3: Flavor Tips. Right, you're like, you bust one of these
- 58:07Speaker 3: boys out. You know what I'm saying. You fill it
- 58:09Speaker 3: with your stuff whatever you want to smoke, some of
- 58:11Speaker 3: that flower that you got from Hardine and then you
- 58:15Speaker 3: hit the tip and man, oh I just taste it
- 58:18Speaker 3: right now, just flavor full of flavor. Now. Go to
- 58:21Speaker 3: Kingpom dot com right now, use the promo code Bootleg

- 58:39Speaker 3: so many vibes, the grapes gas Yo Kingpom dot com.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Use the promo code Bootleg fifty percent off. Let's get
- 58:49Speaker 3: back to the interview. The thing about Atlanta in the
- 58:52Speaker 3: South and Memphis, tell me, tell me they are the
- 58:54Speaker 3: sound of hip hop. So it used to there was
- 58:57Speaker 3: a pocket in time when the sound was Mustard beats.
- 59:01Speaker 2: Do you think it's the tempo, the one hundred bpms?
- 59:04Speaker 2: The un.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I feel like I felt like is Sem needs a
- 59:08Speaker 1: crossover record and over in order for it to make.
- 59:11Speaker 3: I mean, because I like the way you move is
- 59:13Speaker 3: like his biggest record, Blue Face got on the remix.
- 59:17Speaker 3: I just think like we got to understand, like one,
- 59:21Speaker 3: if you're like Roddy Rich did such a good job
- 59:23Speaker 3: of coming in and just making records, like if.
- 59:27Speaker 4: There were a crossover cross over.
- 59:29Speaker 3: But if you listen, even if you listen to like uh, like,
- 59:33Speaker 3: listen to Racks in the Middle, that's eighty bpms. That's
- 59:36Speaker 3: an eighty bpm record. That's not an one hundred and
- 59:39Speaker 3: two bpm record. You know what I'm saying. If you
- 59:41Speaker 3: listen to the box, that's fucking uh fifty eight bpms.
- 59:46Speaker 4: One of my favor YG records is Toxic, right.
- 59:50Speaker 3: A fucking amazing record.
- 59:51Speaker 4: Amazing record, right, but it's it's like it's a crossover record.
- 59:55Speaker 4: It's a commercial. It's not that record playing everywhere. Yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 4: but that's what I'm saying.
- 59:59Speaker 1: I feel like, once gets one of them type records
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: across over Restort, then it's then.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: But you got to understand, like are you making music
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: for you and your homies and and where you're from?
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Are you making music for the fucking Hey.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: He's just having fun, which is and yeah, and guess what.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: And to me, that's okay because I love LA music,
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: so I like West Coast music, but I also can
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: understand that, like there's certain music that has a ceiling,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. And that's why I appreciate
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: like someone like ge Perico. He kind of goes out
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: of his way to kind of do different ship like
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: he's wrapping on different styles of beats. Not everything sounds like,
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: uh the way Geperico shit sounded five years ago, Like
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: he's doing like his gangster grills.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: As shout out shout out was him steals Yeah, producer,
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: I felt like they locked in and created they created
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: a sound like that's like his forty how.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Like very important in the West Coast. Do you think
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: it's a lot of producers are a lot of beat
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: makers because who's really locking in with these artists going
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: to the studio session.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: So there's a lot of beat makers for sure, But
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: producers are like you said, you got to kind of
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: like like Steals a producer.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: Yeah, but to.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: See Stills come up and how he started and where
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: he's at now, it's like, yeah, you're the superstar.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: It wasn't all these artists think about.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: We're talking about Roddy Rich.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Die Young was a song that was before Please excuse
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: me for being antisocial. Right, Die Young is a record
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: that if you're still in the club, you could just
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: drop the hook, get in and out of that bitch.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: That record is eighty two bpms. That's not one hundred
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, like DJ, so it's like
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So it's like, I guess what.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Then Nli Choppa had to go and get him a
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Roddy hook on an eighty two bpm record. Walk him
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Down is crazy and that's what that's the dude from
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: the South who was like, I gotta tap in with
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Roddy Rich. So at the end of the day, right now,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: think about blast everyone. If you look at NAS's got
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: blast on his albums, Rick Ross got blasting hooks, like
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: ty Dolla Signed was one of those guys where if
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: you listen to Tie you might be like, oh, this
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: is the greatest artist to ever live. If you listen
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: to some of his albums, like There's No Box, you
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: could put TI dollars sign in because Tie is focused
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: on making timeless music.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: And if it's Tie is like a musician, he picks
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: He's an alien, Yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: He's not, but he's focused on time artists.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: These other artists were talking about like they just write.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: I remember the YG mixtape era and the pushes Ink Ship,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: and things started to change when the music became more
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: of a priority for those guys. Because you can look
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: on YouTube, I have an interviewer, I'm interview in. Ty
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Dolla Signed, Bobby Brackens and YG at the same time,
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: and at that time, Bobby Brackens was the most poppin
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: and those guys. Tie has always been so musically like
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: inclined that like it was just a matter of time, right,
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: and yg his everyone's When he was on the double
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: XL cover with the big yg Jan, people were like,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: why is he on this cover? He got one record
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: tout in the Buddha people didn't understand it.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: What happened was he put out a classic album. His
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: first album is a literal classic, and it changed the
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: way everyone in the country looked at YG because after
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: that you got Ygi Mustard and Tie on the fucking
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: cover the Source together, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: it just kind of stamped.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Like do you think in every team everybody has their
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: own moments to shine? Like, do you think this is
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: leap frog with like a lot of these camps that
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: are moving together.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Well, I think Atlanta and the South have honestly had
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: the hip hop and a stranglehold for like twenty years.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: So the South is kind of like like right now
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: it's like Memphis, you know, like Memphis, Atlanta, Alabama, but
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: just that whole region just has I mean they're not
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: let go of wrap for.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: You think the politics also holds back music collaborations, collab Yeah,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: for sure. So say like an artists, oh that this
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: artist collab with this artist, especially in LA. Do you
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: think a producer could change that and just have a
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: hook from him and a verse of him and just
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: make the song and drop it maybe. What do you
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: think about that?
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: But I think that that could be, like you would
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: have to have both of them co sign it, and
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: you know that's the only That's another thing that's unfortunate
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: about l A is like sometimes like that's why I
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: like some of the younger dudes, like one Take Jay
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: and like Azy Chike. Well you know, Chike's had his
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: issues with with Draco and the ingle weird shit or whatever.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: But I think that the younger dudes in LA have
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: at least made a real concerted effort to like work together.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: What do you think is hindering them? Like the one
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: a Jay as Chie. I mean, I think they're making
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: cool music, but they just gotta make better music, Like
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: make better music. Good mids No, the ship is good.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: It's good West Coast.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Shit, like it's good out here.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: One of my favorite Rouccie, Like I love Ruccie's albums.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: I loved him and Shike's album but like I'm a
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: fan of West Coast music.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Shout out Roucie I feel like Rouccie is one of
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: those guys where he's he has good music, but his
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: personality rolls into his brand being and it's just like,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: you know why people love Ruccie.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Ruchie's the best.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: We went after our season finale, we went with Rucie
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: to Keynes and we took over Knes with and Ruccie
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: is the best crazy personality.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Watched the season finale of Most of Mondays on Leak podcast,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: and you will understand why Rouccie is a West Coast staple.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: And why Roucci and so let me say this about
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: about Rouccie, right, Rucchie is a smart kid man and
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: and I think somebody who's doing shit kind of like
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: the right way since he broke away with Promognation is Gperico.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I think he's a great example of any LA artist.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Can look and see the amount of shots he puts up.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: He's putting out hella fucking product, and he's not afraid
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: to jump on different beats and do different ship And
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: whether or not he catches a quote unquote hit is
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: one thing. But the fact that he's able to take
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Rouccie out on a national tour like they went on
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: on a national fucking tour in New York, in Atlanta,
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: in DC and did a tour off of what g
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Perico has done the last three years since you left
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: Rock Nation. So Rucchie to me, Rucci is super smart
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: and he's super talent.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Was it you that told me that Rouccie, he's independent,
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: has bigger numbers than he's artist.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Is the biggest independent artist in l A right now?
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: I think probably is they're both on Empire, just Empire Empire,
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: They're both on the same What do you.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: Think about should artists drop drop, drop drop or be
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: very slow at their drops?
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: And I think, what do you think if if if
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: I'm independent and I'm a rapper and I'm independent.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: I'm dropping best method drop every week, dropping every other week?
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: When you do, I can't tell you, but I'm keeping that.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Mixed mixtapes are singles. What do you think I'll drop
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: a project out or just keep single single, single single?
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: If you don't have a following, drop singles? If you
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: have a following? What what?
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: What? What dictates to following is the number? Is there
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: a certain number that?
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: This is what you gotta understand about Spotify right is
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Spotify is the biggest Okay, right. Spotify is if somebody
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: from a record label, if.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: You're they're gonna check Spotify, don't check Apple.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: They go on Spotify to see your monthly listeners. It's
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: just the standard. So when I say Spotify, I'm talking
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: about whatever, Apple Music, apply it to title whatever. Every
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: time you do a release, right, it's another push and
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: impression to your algorithm on your plate, on your on
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: your profile.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: So if you don't have fans and you put a
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: twelve song album out, that's one impression. That's one chance
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: to hear break it up in the hits. So that's
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: one chance for you to get an audience with this
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: body of work that you put together, instead of you
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: saying I could get twelve chances.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: If you're Geperico and you got a built in fan base,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: then yo, just drop it.
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: But where's the middle ground to be like, Okay, because
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: that's the extreme.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: You gotta have fans where you'll know If you have fans, bro,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: you'll know, Bro, you'll know if you've got motherfuckers buying
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: all your merch, showing up and selling out shows. Otherwise,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: drop singles and build that following, because you're gonna build
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: the following through singles.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: How do you get the I mean, I don't know, bro,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: that's the best way to just get that.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: You got to be extremely content one. Like you said,
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: it's none of the difference. Most important it is consistency. Right,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: So if you if you pop out and you got
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: one record that does well, but then you don't do
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: ship after that, or you do a follow up and
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: then you get discouraged because the follow up didn't do.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Just keep throwing shots up.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: It's crazy is that there's a lot of big artists
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: in l A.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: And the reason I know this is because we've they're
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: they're with it to come on the podcast, but they're
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: just like tucked right now.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: They had success, they have big records, and that's their
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: l A statement is consistency. But but but they I
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: don't know if it's comfort, I don't know if it's
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: mental health. I don't know what it is.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: But a lot of these artists that were big, they
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: just kind of go into hiding and take a couple
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: of years off.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: When you don't have that time, think about this.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Think about O g Z. He's on Atlantic right. O
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: g Z is being just dropping consistently since he left
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Shoreline album singles like Oh Giz is on the road consistently.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: He just announced the new tour that sold out. Before
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: that he was on tour, y g like for that,
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: he was on his own tour. It's like consistency matters
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: and it's super serving. Like at the end of the day,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: like you.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Got to how long do you think an artist kul
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: tuck after they drop like a big body of work.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: It depends on how big we're talking. But if like
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: if we're talking like like big locally, yeah.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Like like like Southern California artists out here, I think
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: You should drop three months later an album for sure,
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: But I think motherfucker should be dropping singles.
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: If you haven't hit, how long do you write it
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: out before you drop something else?
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Like do you just ride that hit so you can
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: still drop something else while also pushing the hit. It
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: ain't like you can't do both. So if you have
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: a hit record, it's going crazy push that record, but
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: then drop another record.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: But I've heard a lot of these these big LA
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: artists or LA artists that are over here.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: It depends on like people's fucking like they got new.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: Music, they got new music, But all you hear is
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: the old stuff that works.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: What the problem is is most people will outthink themselves
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: out of a career or overthink themselves. People think too much,
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: they're worried about well I don't like the way the
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: video looks, or you know, people overthink everything. I mean,
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: I see it every single day with just people going
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: close with to her artists like, bro, why are you
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: sitting on fifty songs in your heart.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Drive because you're waiting all go out?
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: If you're waiting for the right time, when's the right time? Like,
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: I agree with some fucking music out, bro.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Or they'll have managers or people like these artists will
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: have managers and people that say, oh, we gotta do
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: it this way. Oh and I don't like that one,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Like they'll tell them, well I don't like that song.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: How are you gonna tell an artist what they There's
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: the thing is.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Like in today's world, everyone's got a short memory, bro,
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: So you might put a song out and if your
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: fans don't fuck with it, drop another one.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: We had a girl on our show and she's like, oh,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I just started rapping, so I'm not really taking it serious.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: And I said, but if the ship went viral, you
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: would take it serious. Like you're waiting too long to
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: take it serious. You're waiting for it to blow.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: Any goes crazy. You're not even prepared for the moment
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: that's going to be delivered to you.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: I mean they tried to pass the problem with like
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: when when Perico was on Rock Nation, Bro, they were
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: just like overthinking all his shit. They're like, we need
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: a radio record, and then they would overthink it. And
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: then Prico's like, Bro, as soon as he got out
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: of that deal, that motherfucker turned up and like the
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: proof is in the pudding. The proof of concept is there.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: It's like hey, bro, Like especially if you're like an
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: artist who you're like, hey, I know I make fire
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: West Coast music, right, so let me just make up
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: for the fact that maybe I ain't popping in Nebraska,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: but I'm popping from like New Mexico over or like
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: you know, El Paso over whatever. So let me just
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: turn up and run up the catalog, you know what
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: I'm saying. Like we use an example, little like Little
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Vada's like killing it, you know what I mean. He's
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: getting he's running and getting bags everywhere. It's like, bro,
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: just keep turning up and super serving your fans and
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: if you catch one that's bigger, it'll happen. But like
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: at the end of the day, like unfortunately, for whatever reason,
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: most of the gatekeepers and hip hop aren't based in
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: l A. Right, So there's that because you look at
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: like the double XELF Freshman cover, it's a it's a
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: East Coast biased process to where they pick these artists.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Like when we talk about these platforms, though you don't
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: think there should be a platform that should get to
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: that standard of XL.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Problem is this is double XL, double XCEL that's has
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: been around for Yeah, but the problem is up But
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: but but they're they're not relevant outside of that one
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: cover every year.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: But but yeah, and understand this what we're trying to
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: do and the reason we're doing this and pressing so
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: hard and in everybody's face.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: We plan to be the new mt V, the new
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: one O six in part, the new Lowerville of the
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: music game of culture.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: And more people, more people.
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: If if I'm not just trying to sit on the
- 1:12:53Speaker 7: talk about l A is because if you think about
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: l A, like we need more platforms because the whole
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: entire industry is biased against LA.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: So you agree with what we're doing.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: Yeah no, no, no no, But but you think we
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: need more No, No. I think the problem is is
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: I think the podcast game is getting just as flooded.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: I'm saying that this music industry is operating at all times, yeah,
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: at a non It's it's operating with a non LA
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: bias at all times because most of the labels and
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: the big big motherfuckers, Like if you think of like Adam, right,
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: Adam is probably the biggest platform in LA him and
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: lab right because that's based here. But like I wouldn't
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: consider them like LA platforms. I would say, like Adam's
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: mostly known for popping on like XXX and like Little
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: YACHTI and like Little Zan and like shit like that
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: back then. Right, So it's like right now, you know,
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: if you think about what's going on on in New York,
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: there's the rap radar shit, there's Joe Budden, uh, Noriega's
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: in Miami, Drink Champs in Atlanta. You got a bunch
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: of academics is in New York. So everybody double ex
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: sells in New York. Complex is a New York based company,
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: Complexes Media Juggernaut that is New York. All the people
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: who work there. For the most part, they're New York kids.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: So you're just describing like all these big platforms out
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: that way, not out here.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: No, no, So what I'm saying is in the way
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: that like New York drill shit gets covered nationally, it'd
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: be nice if they would cover LA shit nationally like
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: the same way.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: But the problem is that the platform's fault is that
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: because there's no platforms out here that are knowledgeable, I just.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: I feel like, well, but I feel like this.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I have a lot of friends in Jersey and the
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: East Coast and shit like that, and with everything we're doing,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: they fuck with heavy and you get me, and so for.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: Me it's I'm not like like, uh, let's say, for instance,
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: like the fig community and the and the community, and
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: there's like a certain street lane that they stay in.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: So there's like a bubble with what we're doing. It's
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: this is like, I'm not street, I'm not hood, I'm
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: none of that ship.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: So, like I said, to be like the MTV version
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: of of to date and being that platform at the point,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: if we're able to to get the artists to be uh,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: to launch them out and they're not looking at just
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the artists, but they're looking at the platform who's doing it.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: They will get their shout out on that side of town,
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: but they need a big platform under them to be
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: able to shout them out.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I think I think there's a few things right
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: if you really think about like guys who have gotten
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: like extremely huge, uh notoriety recently who are from the
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: West Coast, it's because they're doing something different.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Who are they?
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: L Russell Larrussell's been on every podcast and true.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: True, but to Play, to Play, to Play, Devil's Advocate.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: L Russell's lane is live for performances.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: And I mean his music it's I mean, but he's bro.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: He's got fas. I mean, I'm not saying he doesn't no, no, no,
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: he's got fans off of his music.
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. I've seen this man in now thousand.
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: I'm not denying his greatness. I'm not denying the people
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: that showing up for him and stuff like that. But
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: what I'm saying is it's like, uh uh, people that
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: freestyle have a hard time making radio records.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: You get me in, So his music just hits a
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: little bit different. His lane is live performances, his bars,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: his bars. When it's live performances, you just feel it.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: It's like, oh ship, people connect to it. But when
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: you hear the song on a regular MP three, mixing,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: mastered and all that stuff, the Russell's records don't hit
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: the same.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: But my point is, Who's I got love for you?
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Bro?
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: No? Hey, I'm just understand who's getting national? Like l
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Russell's whole approach to this ship. He changed their music.
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: Yeah, he changed the game for sure.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: So he's been getting exposure on every platform.
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: That's not so the problem is, but what song on
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: the rate non radio?
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: What song?
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: What MP three of his is going crazy?
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: You're just saying that because he's different though, that's where
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: you get the bag.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: That's just hard.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: No, but like the MP three version of the live version,
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: because the live version goes a lot of crazy.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Stream the stream, I mean honest in the Russell shit,
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: he puts an out out like every month. I mean,
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: the Russell's doing numbers on Spotify.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: I'm not saying that he's not. But what I'm saying is.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: What he's doing is building a community and building a
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: co following like we've never seen while also changing music.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: And that's why that like and I'll give credit to
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: the Russell right now, there's a lot of people that
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: are scared that like bring people to my crib and
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: do this and all that.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Seeing what he did, it gave me the battery to
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: have people pull up.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: I was like, he's doing it. Yeah, let's do it.
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: Like it's fine.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: So I would say, like, you know, it's important to like,
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: you know, a lot of these bigger companies like Complex
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: or Amazon. Like Amazon, a lot of the people who
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: are running shit at Amazon now are LA folks. So
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: you'll see like Amazon will probably start showing more attention
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: through rap rotation and Amazon Music to LA artists because
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: a lot of the folks pulling the strings on the
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: Amazon music side are LA folks. So you'll notice that
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: will change. So just a matter of like.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: But for me, like even like a lot of this
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: young LA sound right now, the moment I hear click, click,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: bang bang bow bow, it's just like all.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Right, bro, Now, I appreciate everybody having fun. And I
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: think what you asked, like, how can LA music kind
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: of take over more? It's like West Coast, not just
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: West Coast, just make better music a lot.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: I feel like there's a lot of people that make
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: good music though, like II shout out Morgan c. If
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: you don't know good music, I can show you some
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: great music from the ie I artists that nobody's shigning
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: light on the IU right now.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: It's l A l A l A l a. Uh
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: thisler got the Bay Area, but I has.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: Tons of talent. Yeah, No, I mean Sam Bernardino, Ranchel, Kukamonga,
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Marino Valley, Ocean Side, uh DESI, Hollows Fire, you know,
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: dud to damn thing from Sam Bardino. I heard of them.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: There's the other kid who we tried to interview like
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: three times, but he just no show it every time.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: It happen. Nice from Samardo.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: How do you feel about no shows?
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: I mean it depends on who it is, honestly for real,
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: it's like someone no shows. I guess it. No show
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: is different than like canceling. Yeah, but if someone just
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: no shows and I don't hear from thin, No, but
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: like canceling and you know it happens. Bro. But like
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: the dude him Beezy, what do you think about him?
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: He's busy, He no showed three times on the podcast.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: He does he have an interviewer he's supposed to. Do
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: you know where he's from? Isn't he from Sam? Bernardino?
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: What do you think you think that he's from Sam?
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: He said that, No, where's he from.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: He's from somewhere over there, right.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: I mean, I've seen interviews he's from La.
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: I guess he's from La. I'm not.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: But what do you think about heim Basy though? Like
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: what do you think as far as like him on
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: the West Coast, like how he's he's getting played in
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: like Florida and that they're thinking he's a Florida artist,
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: And like from what I've seen.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: At least, like they think I'm not educated enough nationwide
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: artists type speak on like what he's doing. Because I
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: heard it his like a couple of records and I
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: just thought they were cool, you.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: Know, But why did you want to bring him in?
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Because of those couple of records?
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Now, he wasn't coming to freestyle like I like to,
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: like if somebody's like buzzing, I like to have him
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: come up and wrap, you know. But yeah, no, he
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: was supposed to come on here and and just he
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: had like a car breakdown and his manager one time,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: his manager was here him in a little bit at
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: the same manager or they did, but his managers were
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: here and they were just waiting on him, and just
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: he just had Ship pop up. I eventually, I'm sure
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I have him come up. You know, he was supposed
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: to come up and rap first.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: When we had Dusta one, we were all the team
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: got together. Everybody's like, desk was coming, all.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: This shit or whatever.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: I posted it.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I had groupies pop up to the studio all this
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: shit or whatever, right just because that Dusta was coming.
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: Then he called him, was like, I got a flat
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: tire on the freeway or whatever.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: I'm like, are you doing it? Like over there? Like
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: and like where you're from? So that's where Yeah, motherfuckers,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: that's a drive bro.
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: Yeah no.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: So but I was like, oh, Ship, here's the excuse.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: Because I didn't meet him until that interview, I thought
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: it was bullshit. And then I looked at the story,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, he actually like fucked his car, you
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: feel me?
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: And so I just feel like a lot of people
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: take things sensitive when you got I don't take life.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: I don't take anything personal, anything music related or industry related.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: I don't take any of this Ship personal. His TG
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: stood up and walked out of an interview, and I
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: was like, well that was fun whatever.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: I don't give the But was the energy aggressive when
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: he walked out or was it like it's just like weird.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: But it wasn't on No, like it was just weird aggressive.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: It wasn't, bro.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: It wasn't like what's his name baby? Where he was like,
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: put some respect on my name, my name wasn't like that.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: It wasn't aggressive.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: But I don't take any shit personal, bro. I don't
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: care about no ship. My fuckers have bad days, these
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: fools don't. I don't care. I literally don't care. Like
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: you could have gave me an f and I would
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: not have. I wouldn't have comment. I just would.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: We still happened, We give you will, we still be
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: here right now.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: No, they made us get on. You hit the balls
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: on the one time.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: I honestly probably.
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: So. The fact that you got to a is why
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: we're here.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean no, not just did you know who
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: I am? Do you know who Yike Mike is?
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Do you know you never know the records I made?

- 1:25:05Speaker 4: open to exploring the I E.
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: Just yes, of course?
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: How come you haven't? What stopped you? I actually like
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: right now the one I want to do. So you know, I'
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: from Arizona. So I've done uh Arizona cipher or I
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: had like who I thought, because I've had like my
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: favorite as artists come down to La we did a cipher.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: I did it with Tucson too. So my next thing
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: is to do San Diego, I e. The High Desert
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: like Victorville Apple Valley. See if there's anybody dope out there.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: You heard of Maddy Ice, I've heard of him, Yes,
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: in Arizona doing the big things with artists out there.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Let me ask you, for as long even doing radio
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: and in the music scene, why have you not have
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: already been tapping in with the I like a long
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: time ago, and why are you not? I'm just confused
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: on why there's there's not no light in the ie right.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Who's the biggest artist in I ever? Rapper?
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: I mean rapper R three is from out there? Art
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: is pretty big.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: I try to interview UR three? What happened we got
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: to work on? He's on three hundred? Oh, I know
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: why you don't like him? Busy because they got beef?
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Okay, girls Low Dev, I don't know.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: I mean I've never heard Girls of Dev's music, So
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: I've heard the name, but I don't know his music.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: And I'll be paying attention.
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: So, I mean, came on the show, he told me
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: about R three and R three was like barely bubbling.
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: And then who's the big who's the biggest Afflee went crazy?
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Is it safe to say Drummer Boys probably the most
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: successful ie artist that's independent. I would say hit boy, Okay,
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: hit boy, but his boy also is like Pasadena to
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: like his dad was he I E.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: Now he's fontanic Okay.
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: He's so guess what he Everybody considers him an LA artist,
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: but he's I.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Listen, man, I had everybody from HS eighty seven Hit
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: Boy's been on my show like thirty times. Everybody from
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: HS eighty seven has. I mean back in the day
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: when HS eighty seven was like moving. Yeah. My thing
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: is is like, hey, there's a dude named cam Archer
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: from Sam Bernardina, cam Archer, who to me was like
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: an alien level rapper because I saw one of my
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: actually my producer saw when his freestyle said it to me,
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: I'm like, cam Archer, guess what the can.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: Ask you a question? What makes you care about artists?
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: I just like, like, what intrigues you about it?
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: I mean, I just been bro. My whole life has
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: been hip hop.
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: Yeah I know. I just seen you post that a
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: happy Birthday hip hop and I sen your.
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: Whole life man, you were youngest I was five years old.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: Is my whole life revolved around rap music? So you know,
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: for me, I like if I'm but the question cam
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: archer ship came across my my desk and I was like, oh,
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: that's crazy, Like he's got to come rapp.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: So it just got to come across you.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: I don't understand. I got like fucking nine businesses going
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: on at the same time, so it's like I like
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: to discover new music, but at the same time, like
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: how much of it is?
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: But what I'm asking is how much of it is
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: a business and just keeping it going and how much
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: of it like what actually interests you about artists and
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: bring them.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: In or what I do or are you just like
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: this is what I do and this is the thing
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: that you understanding is like the podcast is a great
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: bag for me, but like, wow, I don't need this ship.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: I don't need this ship, Like I'm let me have it.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: But isn't this how you tap in with the culture
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: and figure out This is.
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: What I'm saying. I just had this conversation with an
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: interview I did from the Netherlands and he's like, why
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: what pushes his passion? I just love music and you'll
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: see me pushing a lot of like the type of
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: hip hop I'm really into. Right, So if if it's
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: cam Archer cam Rsher's crazy, I'm like, oh, your.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Bias towards it if you like, this is this platform,
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: Of course, if I like somebody ship and they might
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: not be popping, I like you, so come up and show.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Let me help you out with my platform.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: So it's not just to open like, oh I see
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: I beating them, or if.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: It makes sense, if if if somebody is like, hey,
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: I'm working with this artist and I check this ship out,
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: and I'm like, Okay, I see what they're doing, Like
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: maybe it ain't for me, But just if I only
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: interviewed people I was into it, would I would only
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: interview like twelve guys, you know? So if I see,
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: if I see what someone's doing and I'm like, okay,
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: I see what they're doing, listen, like or I think
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: they might be interesting. Like there's artists who I love
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: to talk to who I might not necessarily love their music,
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: but we have dope conversations, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: So what about producers and DJs though?
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: To me, I mean, I'm not interviewing DJs unless they've
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: like contributed like crazy shit to hip hop. What about producers, Yeah,
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: I mean I'll interview producers. I've had hit Boy on
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: thirty fucking million times. I'm working on getting the Alchemists
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: on right now. Like, is it a certain level? I've
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: had Mustard on a bunch. Yeah, I'm not just interviewing
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: a producer because you got a yeah, I.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: Made a hit record that's going.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: It's not even that like I had. I had Jnari
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: on the show and Dupre before, Like you know, I've
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: had guys on But like, I'm not just yo. You
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: can't tell me you produced a blue Face song and
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: expect to come and sit down with me, like I
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: don't care. Yeah, just to be honest is what is
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: the I just don't give a period. I just have
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: to care. To me. When I think of League of
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: Stars and Dupre and Jnari, I think of like an
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: era of West Coast music. I'm like, oh, these guys
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: wave they started. These guys were a part of that wave.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: That's important in the context of the historical conversation of
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: La Raps. So I would love to talk to Dupre
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: and Jnari and them dudes about just that era.
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: Can I ask you a question, how many people are
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: in your ear when you go outside too much?
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: My dms are a fucking terrible place. Yeah, I mean dude,
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: I get sent ship thirty forty fifty one hundred times
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: a day.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: You got security when you go out?
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: No, no, no, no they come and rob me?
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Bro, No no not rob no no no, no no no.
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: We're getting to a point.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: I know I've never had security.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: I mean no, we're getting to.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: A point right now where it's not security for safety,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: is security to keep people away.
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: Like the crazy part about.
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: It is I don't care about none of that shit.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: I mean, look, you can walk up to me, I'll talk.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: That's no grabbing on you though.
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: But when nobody, when nobody can say about me, is
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: that they ever came up to me? And I was like,
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: I never have big I don't know a big timer.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: I'm just like, hey, I'll talk to anybody.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: But it's not just talking.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: I just went to the Big X the plug concert.
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: Yeah I want to.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: You'll say you'll talk to anybody until you have a
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: drunk person trying to tell you. I need to be
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: on your podcast, bro, because I'm gonna say the craziest ship.
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: I own the nightclub? Bro?
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: Do you hear all that?
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: When I walk through my club in Arizona, every yo
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: put me on the podcast and response, No, right then
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: and there, Yeah, no DM ME or ship And if
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: I get around to it, I'll check it out. But no, yeah,
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: like I'm not just I'm not just putting you on
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: my plate just because so.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: Hey, so I don't get so so it's a general census.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Hollowing at a podcast or the club isn't the move.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: What do you hope to achieve?
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: No, I know, I just want the audience to know.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: No, So hallowing at a podcast or to get on
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: the podcast in public is not the place to do it.
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: No.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: People want me to play their songs on the radio
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: and it's unmixed mastered and tell them dirty.
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Like may you wanted me to send? They send me
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: music and it's like, bro, you really want me to
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: play this at this top of party.
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: I'm on the radio every single day in twenty five
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: cities La Vegas, Miami, Tampa, fucking At Phoenix, Tucson, Madison, Wisconsin, Flint, Michigan,
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: every single day, four hours a day. I'm on the radio.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Right now, you're gonna get in your car at seven
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: and twenty minutes you'll hear You'll hear the bootleg cap
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: showing Real ninety two three as soon as you get
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: in that car. So fuck like, what if I don't
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: know you? Shit? Like what I'm trying to I'm gonna
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: play some shit. It's gonna be some shit that makes sense. Bro,
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: You got to compete against Drake on these airwaves. Motherfucker.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: You think I'm gonna play your local rap shit. That's
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: not how that shit works. Yeah, it's a business, you
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Anyway, Well, look, go watch the

- 1:33:39Speaker 2: the display, everything there can't answer that question for us.
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: Why US is deeper than just the microphone. There's real artist.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: Because producers, DJ's engineers, we make music. We're actually artists.
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: But it's not just music. We're creating the deep in
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: the podcast.
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: It's deeper.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: We're creating the brand and doing all that photoshop ship.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: We're not going to fiver and paying somebody.
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: We're making our own drip and wearing it fly. We're
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: at the parties. We're looking saucy drip. The artists that
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: are at the clubs and parties are at We're having
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: more motion and more people trying to be Ciaga.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: We're next to these rappers that don't know how to
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: wear Balenciaga and.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: Left the designer wear them in instead of design.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Where the new Lowerville is the new street, weear brand
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: of the Inland Empire. So cow now whatever you want
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: to say.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: The man shut up.
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: Shout out to the man. I just had to tell keV.
- 1:34:25Speaker 8: Right man, it's going crazy. And right now y'all don't
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: know it or not. Producer's going crazy. So DJ Eric
- 1:34:33Speaker 8: justin girls Love, they have the artistry out there is
- 1:34:35Speaker 8: going crazy.
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: Morgan.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: See it's going crazy right now. This is a way
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: that's coming up. The young kids, they got it, the youngins,
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: they got it.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: Hey, I got I'm on the I'm on the radio.
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: I got to get you hip, keV.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: I got to get you hip.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: I'm like Mike, this is what I do. I'm in
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: the culture.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: Tell you what you give me a list of ten
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: artists who can rap?
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Okay, let me ask you this when you okay, it
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: was cipher, Okay, ten of them we're going to do.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: They gotta rap, Yes.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: They can't funk around. They gotta be able to Okay.
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: And I got to ask you this question as I
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: engineer and all that range, real producer, but I got
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: to ask you this. When you look at artists, do
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: you does the look do you think the look hinders them?
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Or if they can just have a crazy flow, crazy voice,
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: you think the image hinders I don't know, bro, there's
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: no right or do you not look at that stuff
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: that doesn't no right answer?
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: No, Look, we're not looking for right answer.
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: Looking not because there's examples of people who you would
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: not think are have an image that pop. There are
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: people who don't have star quality that become stars. There's
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: no exact science.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: I'm just saying that because I hear a lot of
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: I'm just saying that because I hear a lot of
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: people saying, oh, you don't look the part, just because
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: you can have you can be talented to have all
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: this in that, but if you don't look the part,
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: not going to be able to get of the.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: Way to look like ship. You know, like you should
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: look representable. If you're an artist, you're a product. What
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: everyone needs to understand is you and your music, both
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: of you are products.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: The image right, yep. No, you're a product.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: You're a product.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: That's image though, right, I mean it's a part of it.
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: So the image, your image might even be that you
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: are like you're the product.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: You're homeless.
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Understand you're the product, but you are a product that
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: is being sold. Make no mind, understand your product.
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: If you do not look at yourself like a product.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: Then you're fucked, because this is the music business. This
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: is not the music community. It's business. You're a product.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: Your music is a product, your live show is a product.
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: If you don't look at it as I'm a product,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: then you're fucked. Who cares about your fucking talent?
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: Talent? You think talent doesn't work. It's all about hard work.
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: There's a lot of talented people.
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: Do you think I know talented? Are I know a
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: level talented motherfuckers that you'll never know about because they're
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: lazy as fun. They're lazy, and they're they think that
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: they're entitled because they're so good.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: I hear a lot that like talents of people think
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: oh I'm so good.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: This is music that you ain't got to put in
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: the work. You could be talented all you want. If
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: you ain't willing to fucking get over yourself and put
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: the work in, then you're fucked.
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: It's like an agenda that people that have talent, they
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: have like, oh, all these people are I'm better than them,
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: and all.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: Right, well, good luck, man, have fun being talented in
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: your bedroom. Listen. I appreciate you guys pulling up the
